Mirabel found herself in Casita’s kitchen, squinting at a recipe for orange and cranberry cookies. It was a new recipe book from the next town over and everything Julieta had baked from it so far was, of course, utterly amazing.

Mirabel wasn’t much of a baker, but she wanted to give her mamá a break, okay? A nice surprise. One less thing to worry about in the morning.

It’s just, you know, Casita was always so dang busy and Mirabel wanted this to be a surprise…So she was baking in secret at midnight.

Well, no one ever said it was a well thought out plan.

Mirabel wants to make a nice surprise for Julieta, but no one can ever accuse Mirabel of planning ahead. At least Bruno's happy to help her out.

Small Hours - Bobby Palmer

Small Hours is about a man called Jack who loses his job, rescues a fox, and finds out his mother has gone missing on the same day. He goes back to his family home, and the rest of the story unfolds from there, the family dynamics being slowly peeled away until there's nothing left to see.

This one was a bit tricky for me. While I can appreciate that the author's style of writing, his tone and choice of language, I didn't get along very well with the content of the book.

This is a family drama at heart, but in a sort of toned down way that could really appeal to someone wanting a cozy, slice-of-life type story. I found that parts of it dragged a little because of this, with a lot of sections being a repeat of things we already know but from a new perspective. These sections have their worth, don't get me wrong, but I do feel a little like the audience is being led to the answers, rather than being expected to make connections themselves.

On the whole the characters are extremely believeable and work well together, but again I found this a little flavourless. We do get character growth, especially from Jack, the main character, but it is exactly as expected, with little that really grabs your attention. None of the characters ever really break the moulds of their steroetypes, and while that does match the tone of a book trying to provide nothing but comfort, I prefer to be challenged, even just a little.

All in all a well structured, well written, wholesome family drama. But I couldn't find that little spark that might have made me care.

żabka (froggy) is the name of an extremely popular corner shop chain in Poland, it's literally everywhere

My translation is not always literal but sometimes vibes based, like in PL version Sanji doesn't use "jesus" in the second page, but the expression "ja pierdole" doesn't have an english equivalent that would make sense in this contex, literally it means "I fuck" lmao

I now see I mixed up prepositions when Sanji asks Luffy for the sauces, uh oh ANYWAY

I also didn't translate the cans Zoro brings at the end, the writing on the cans says "potwór" which means "monster", so yup these are basically monster energy drinks but translated literally hence the capitalized P as the logo. Why does he drink that instead of some Polish ass beer? Good question, I just enjoy calling them drinks Potwór, and dont know much about beer

Drake Siblings

Have I read this prompt somewhere or was this a fever dream from my bored mind.

What if, now hear me out.

What if we bring up Dana Winters-Drake (whose confirmed to at least be alive in the DC verse but no one knows where she actually is)

What if instead of when she had a mental breakdown and getting committed to an Bludhaven clinc she wandered away before anyone noticed and by the time Tim or anyone did notice a lot of stuff started happening at once in both Gotham and Bludhaven (Steph dying, The Bludhaven crisis, etc etc)

Tim still tries to find her though but even with best resources it was like she just disappeared into the wilderness and the stress of trying to handle more and more problems get worse.

So when out of the blue, a couple of years later, he gets a call from an unknown number. On his private, only for friends and family, phone and when he answers he meet with a young girls voice on the other end.

A very young, maybe six or seven, girl who informs him about his apparently half-brother Danny Drake-Fenton. And how she loves Danny so, so, so much but knows her home is dangerous for him to be in.

Tim is stunned and before he could question her, she says Danny is Dana and Jack's baby and that her parents had adopted him years ago and put Dana's stuff that the hospital had away for him to look at when he was older but she just had to fight off their lunch from eating her brother and she knows he needs a better place to live and so she snooped around and found Dana's diary and that she had to unscramble the nonsense Dana wrote and found Tim's number with the words 'tell him about his brother Danny' hidden in it. And-

But before she could keep rambling she hears Danny screaming "JAZZY THE MILK WENT BAD AGAIN AND HISSED AT ME!"

Tim is left with silence after hearing Jazz yell to Danny to lock the fridge and step out of the kitchen as she gets the bat.
