The Blurting Method
What is the Blurting Method?
It is a revision techinique that consists of:
Write notes about the topic and read them until you undestand it and remember some of it
Write everything you remember about the topic (without using the notes)
Go back to your notes and with a different colour add what you missed and correct your mistakes
Repeat the process until you know it
Remember to take breaks!
Pros
This method uses active recall, which makes your memory work harder and helps you store information in your long-term memory
It is incredibly effective
Cons
It is a really intense study method and it takes a lot of time (remember to take breaks!)
Subjects we recommend for this method
All subjects that are more theorical than practical.

— math ‘cheat sheet’ completed and drilled
— worked through the practice math questions to prep for quiz tomorrow
— looked through some gorgeous Botticelli paintings for a little rest :))

Highlight of day: getting to study in the pretty fall leaves, talking to my boyfriend, and getting to call a friend :))

Studied for two hours at a café. It really-really helps me to concentrate better. I don’t check my phone or my emails. When I study outside my room, I am able to focus only on the predefined task.

Autumn afternoons are the best for studying. Getting a cup of green tea in your plaid pajamas, cozying up in a warm patterned blanket and making flashcards while playing some light music in the back is the most comforting way to finish off your school work.

Re-introduction post
I’ve been gone for quite a while, but because I’m going to start my master in neurobiology I’m going to post again!
I’m Melanie, currently 21 years old and I will be starting my master in medical biology with a specialisation in neurobiology this September.
Last June I graduated with a bachelor in Life Sciences with a specialisation in biomedical research.
Here are some short fun facts about me:
I love reading 📚
I play guitar 🎸
Procrastinating is one of my great talents 😅
Memory and neurodevelopmental disorders are two of my favourite research topics 🧠
Sloths are my spirit animals 🦥
Hopefully this blog can once again motivate me to study and help me make some friends along the way!
