This fandom is honestly...
Like, there is something to be said about fandoms in general and how they've changed as a whole generally but
There's also something about how the acotar fandom is especially toxic like
The idea that a post is surprised a murder hasn't happened yet and I found myself agreeing??? Is honestly telling
Like, also. A massive part of this is shipping and maybe it's because I have my corner of this fandom, but even then shipping the "wrong" thing in general has become something I honestly have to take in consideration when thinking of my mental health and if I can personally be prepared for any backlash??
This fandom at large doesn't feel safe and that's majorly concerning tbh
Maybe instead of saying shippers as a group are doing harm, we should just disavow harmful actions in general and not be complicit in it idk???

Thoughts and Takes As I Re-Read the ACOTAR Series
This is extremely long and I have been typing it for weeks now. These are just my thoughts and I am typing them as I go. If you read it, I hope you enjoy it and maybe we can agree on most things. I would really love to hear everyone else's thoughts, too! 🙂
I don't feel like people blame papa archeron nearly as much as they should. It should not have been any of the sisters' responsibility to do what Feyre did. And after reading Nesta's POV, I don't blame Nesta for being so cold and hateful towards her father.
Lucien annoyed me so much in ACOTAR so much so that it was hard to like him in ACOMAF but I really tried to like him and give him a chance when Sarah made him Elain's mate and I realized that he could have a big role in ACOWAR.
I believe Tamlin had his redemption arc in ACOWAR when he saved Feyre and Az when they were rescuing Elain and then again when he saved Rhys. But I don't think Sarah will explore his story and she might be keeping him alive right now so that he can die at the right time.
After what Tamlin did to her and then allying with Hybern, I don't blame Feyre for ruining his court. He deserved it.
I don't think Ianthe suffered enough and I think that Nesta or Elain should have been the ones to have killed her.
Elain and Az were obvious to me in ACOMAF, just like Nesta and Cassian were and I was truly truly shocked when sarah made Lucien Elain's mate. I believe that there is so much more to that night than we know about and we'll learn about it when we get to Elain & Az's POVs. I believe that the bloodbane in Az's blood was killing him and nullified any bond that could have been there even before Elain was turned. Az was shot with the arrow before they went up to the throne room and that is why Lucien showed signs of mate behavior once Elain showed up. I believe the cauldron was wrong.
That being said, I tried to give Lucien a chance in ACOWAR and he just gave me the ick when talking about Elain. It didn't feel right to hear him say that he wanted to "see if she was worth it." Like she should already be worth it. Don't hesitate. I just did not see it at all.
I think that LoA will be the one to kill Beron. Don't know why, but I just feel that she will lose it and run to Helion.
Sarah had every opportunity to set Elucien up and she didn't. I believe she set them up for failure from the get-go. She instead focused on Elain and Az. I could do an entirely separate post about Elain, Lucien, and Az.
I believe Mor and Eris are mates, especially after what was said in ACOSF. I believe that he knows that she prefers females and wanted to save her from a loveless, unsatisfying marriage. I do think that he handled it wrong. Like that whole situation could have been handled so much better.
I think the whole Mor, Az, and Cassian situation was extremely weird. And now that Cassian is with Nesta and Az could possibly be with Elain, maybe Mor can finally move on and be free and not hide anything anymore. I wish that Mor would have talked to Nesta in ACOSF and explained and apologized for everything. Maybe she'll sit both the sisters down and talk about it one day.
I think Amren and Varian are cute together, but I think Amren should have stayed dead. Sarah is notorious for killing and then unkilling her characters and I think that gets old. I believe that sarah brought her back as a way to keep the summer court involved with the night court and to have a "know it all" character.
I think that Feyre and Rhys have a true, soul mate, true love, fairytale mating bond and I think Nesta and Cassian have a more realistic one. Feyre and Rhys fell in love before the bond was accepted and Nesta and Cassian were just beginning to fall in love before the bond was accepted. Lust and attraction and the pull of the bond is what truly brought them together but they quickly fell in love with each other.
I hate all the hate that Nessian is getting. People who say that Nesta should get with Eris literally make me sick and I want to throw ACOSF at them. They obviously need a to read it again. People need to realize that Nesta was in the wrong in HOFAS and Rhys had every right to freak out like he did and Nesta needed to be yelled at for that. I don't blame Cassian for not stepping in. And people forget how sarcastic Nesta is and they actually take her seriously when she said that Rhys debated executing her. Like do yall really think Cassian and Feyre would allow that or that Rhys would do that to his brother and his mate?? Like come on now.
Speaking of Rhys, I don't think he was wrong for keeping the danger of feyre's pregnancy from her. As a mother of 3 myself, I would be terrified every single day if I knew that my pregnancy could end with the death of myself and/or my baby. Like I would not want to know. Pregnancy is stressful enough as it is, even with healthy ones. And this is why I don't think he was wrong for freaking out on Nesta. I mean, he almost lost his mate, his son, and his life like what, 6 months before that? Like I can't imagine how scared Rhys is every day knowing that he almost lost everything and then Nesta gave a STRANGER a MADE OBJECT from the trove and could have LOST IT to the ASTERI who could have come to their world and DESTROYED them all. GIVE RHYS A BREAK YOU GUYS!!!!! I love Nesta, love her to death, but she was wrong for that.
I have my thoughts on Gwyn. I think she's a lightsinger. I think that is what Az's shadows react to, just like Nesta reacts to her. I don't think her and Az are mates. I don't think she's attracted to Az at all. I think she wants to prove herself to him because he did see her on the most traumatic night of her life. I think she wants to prove to him and everyone around her that she is and can be strong. That's it. There is nothing more to her and Az other than trainer and trainee. I also think that Merrill is the one manipulating everything and everyone, including Gwyn who might not know that she's a lightsinger. I think Merrill is working with Koschei.
Even after all the books, I still believe that Elriel will happen. There's just too many canon moments for me to ignore to see the possibility of Elucien. I only say elucien because gwynriel isn't a canon couple. They are not canon at all. The only thing that elucien has going for them is their bond.
I think Lucien will reject the bond for Elain. Lucien isn't a bad guy. I don't think he'll fight for Elain when he knows that she does not want him or their bond. He won't let Elain become his mother. I think he will find happiness with Vassa and they will be like Elide and Lorcan.
I believe people who support elucien only care about Lucien. I mean, how could you think that Elain wants to be with him after reading the books?
Based on the story of Koschei, it's not crazy to assume it will be 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Sarah is a very predictable writer and this is what most of the fandom has expected since ACOMAF and Koschei being the last big bad confirms that. Especially when you add in Vassa and Lucien into the mix. Just read the story of Koschei and tell me I'm wrong.
I believe that Az is experiencing the effects of a mating bond with Elain. He acts more like her mate than Lucien does and there's canon proof of this.
I believe the only reason Rhys stopped Az and Elain that night was because 1. he was convinced he would die with Feyre when she gave birth and didn't want his court to be in this war with the autumn court and 2. he is a political figure and he is using elain's bond as leverage with lucien. I believe that if Elain expresses to him how she wants to reject the bond, he would support it and accept Elain and Az.
I hate how everyone focuses on Gwyn and forgets about Emerie. I don't understand why people think Gwyn would be involved with the Illyrians. She is not Ilyrian and even though she finished the blood rite, she has said she does not want that illyrian warrior title. After what she went through during the rite, I don't see her being involved with them in any way. I do believe we will hear about Emerie doing something more like that. She could be an inspiration to Ilyrian females. Speaking of the Valkyries, I don't think they should have won the blood rite. It was very unbelievable. It would have been more believable if they had hid the entire time and waited for Cassian to come find them when the week was over.
Speaking Gwyn again, I think most of her fans overhype her too much. I like Gwyn and I'm glad that Nesta has her as a friend because she needed that. But I don't think we'll ever get her POV. I mean, we heard her story. We know what happened to her and we know pretty much everything about her. We know that she doesn't want that warrior title and she went back to the library not even sure about going to Nesta's mating ceremony. I think her fans forget this. I think they see her as a self insert character. I think they over sexualize her way too much. I'm not saying that SA survivors can't have a sex life so don't come at me. I just don't think she's going to want to be tied up with ribbons while Az holds her down and "ravages" her. The same male who seen what she went through that night. That just makes me uncomfortable. I think Gwyn would be embarrassed by the majority of her fans.
I will another post about that bonus chapter because there is so much to discuss.
I hate the amount of hate Elain gets and the side of the fandom that hates her does not deserve her. There is so much to learn about her and her powers and what goes on in her mind and I can't wait for her book.
I also think that papa archeron unknowingly traded Elain and/or Feyre and Nesta in his deal with Koschei for Vassa's temporary release.
I don't understand how people could hate feysand or any other members of the inner circle. In my opinion, if you hate them then why are you reading the series?? Why are you still here?
I don't think that sarah will make Nesta or Elain an actual queen or high lady. I think that Rhys and Feyre will always be more powerful than them and I think they will be High King and High Queen when the series is over. I can't see sarah making the sisters having the same amount of power or say as much as Feyre. She has always been above them. That has been obvious since the beginning because she's always protected them and taken care of them.
If you guys remember my other posts, then you will know my thoughts on how I think the rest of the series will go. Like elriel, vassien, koschei, the queens, the prison, the dusk court, the trove, all that. Elain and Nesta are the keys and Vassa should be the one to destroy Koschei. Rhys and Feyre will be High King and High Queen with nessian and elriel at their sides and everyone lives happily ever after.
What do you guys think?

Can I just say it?
Will I get hate for it? Undoubtedly. But am I going to say it anyways? For sure.
Honestly, I really don't care about Lucien.
Like - he could live or die and I genuinely would not care either way. Man could get defeated in a blood duel with Azriel, go absolutely batshit crazy if Elain rejects the mating bond, go back to Tamlin's and live happily ever after with his bro- literally do not care.
He used to be my favorite character in ACOTAR but if SJM hasn't done him any favors, why should I? On top of that, we have grown women in this fandom treating him like some kind of baby boy with the "oh my poor baby lulu deserves the world" and it's given me the ick in general towards him.
I don't think he's suited for Elain at all. I know she does not want him (it's literally in the text - he makes her uncomfortable). He's irrelevant and will henceforth be referred to as "that one guy Elain was mated to but didn't give a shit about".

Acotar AU but it's just the plot of Frozen. Where Tamlin is Elsa, Feyre is Anna and Rhysand is obviously Hans. Lucien is Kristoff and Jurian is Sven, Vassa is Olaf. Amarantha is the Duke of Weselton. The Vanserra brothers and Helion are the rock trolls.
Someone give me the plot for this cause all I have in mind is Amarantha doing the chicken dance around a very uncomfortable Feyre in the middle of the ball. And Tamlin's magic exploding and him running to the mountains and bursting into song and dance.
This would also make Tamlin Vassa's creator.
Rhysand- "I mean its crazy-"
Feyre- "What?"
Rhysand- "We finish each other's-"
Feyre- "Sandwiches!"
Rhysand- *Visibly getting the ick* "That's what I was gonna say?"
Feyre- "Do you wanna build a snowman?"
Tamlin- *Hiding in his room* "GO AWAY FEYRE!"
Feyre- *Sadly* "Okay bye."
Lucien- "Reindeers are better than people, Jurian don't you think that's true."
Jurian- "When was the last time you felt the touch of a woman?"
Rhysand- "But he-he froze your heart."
Feyre- "The only one with a frozen heart around here is yours." *Punches Rhysand off the boat.*
Tamlin- "LET IT GO! LET IT GO! TURN AWAY AND SLAM THAT DOOR!!!"
Vassa- *Comes to life* "Wtf???"

Do you remember Feyre telling that she fell for Tamlin because he was the first person to show her kindness or something?
I think that fits what's going on between Elain and Azriel.
Elain has been in close proximity to the IC (hell, I think it's safe to say she's only among them and doesn't go out to meet people lol) The only single male is Azriel and well, he's described as hot. And this guy spent time with her (again it started because of Feyre's orders, not any concern on his behalf) and it's understandable she has a crush on him? I think it's surface level though, and it won't be a huge problem in Elucien's book. They have enough on their plates and their own healing to do.
My point is, Elain crushing on Az isn't groundbreaking or anything significant to call 'love'. It's actually disturbing to me, because she's ONLY been around this guy (again, I mean of the available men) She's avoiding Lucien because of the bond and she turns around? The emo bat guy is waiting in the sidelines (again, ick because he's going after someone's MATE and it's a big deal to Fae, and he KNOWS that. Yeah he has his own healing to do and I'm sure I'll love his book, but right now, he's being shitty lol)
Anyway can't wait for the Elucien book, and sorry for the long text haha
I agree with you 100%. Just like Feyre fell in love with Tamlin (or so she thought) during a time when she needed a reprieve from the years of starvation and taking care of others, he wasn't necessarily the right person for her once she had time to discover who she was outside of being the primary caretaker for her family. Similarly, Elain went through a massive amount of trauma in the series. She was made into an entirely new species and was instantly given a wild fae bond that probably scares the hell out of her with how it makes her feel. It's normal for her to shut down because of the emotional overload and when Feyre said Az would be someone who could give Elain peace and quiet, I think she was right. Because Az doesn't push her to face things, he doesn't force her to feel much at all. It's comfortable and easy and light and fun and not overwhelming. But Elain will eventually get to the point (if she's not already there after SF) where she doesn't want to ignore things anymore. Where hiding from truth isn't the best thing for her. Where she's mentally in a place to face who she's becoming. And "peace and quiet" is no longer what she'll need. She'll need someone to challenge her, to believe in her and push her and that is clearly not Az. To your point, Azriel was Elain's Tamlin. I'm not saying Az would have ever spiraled the way Tamlin did with Feyre but I think it's clear that Tamlin was simply a stepping stone for Feyre and that's what Az has been for Elain.

Just a Nightmare
Day 4 of the best boy's week and while I was planning for smut, my brain refused to cooperate. So we're having a bit of fluff with he ebst throuple and basically what I like to imagine as the true end whenever the rest of the books give me the ick. (Acotar is a stand alone, fight me!) Hope you like!
@tamlinweek
Tamlin Week 2024- Day 4- Happily Ever After
Just a Nightmare
Tamlin woke up woth a gasp to the sound of lighting. The lights went on and it took him a moment to recognize the room. It wasn't torn apart and he wasn't alone. Lucien and Feyre slept at each of his sides.
"Tam? Are you okay?"
Lucien, his beloved Lucien was okay and here with him instead of running away from him after he lost his sanity and turned on the one man who he'd swore to never fail.
Feyre was slowly waking up, her hands weren't marred by black Night tattoos that drove his anxiety up and proved to be mating marks made by his worst enemy. Just what had happened?
"I...think so? I had a bad nightmare."
"You look pale. What did you dream about?"
What could he say? That he dreamt the pair left him for the Night Court and Feyre was mated to their worst enemy. That he dreamt he hurt them both so badly he was left alone here with ruble, vines, and wilted flowers? That he dreamt his dear wife was still marked but now in both arms rather than the one bargain they broke long ago, or that Lucien had been put through hell and he'd been unable to save him the pain?
Tamlin chose to convey all of that in just one sentence, one that also shared his biggest fear. "I dreamt I lost you."
Feyre and Lucien looked at eachother and then at him. "That's never going to happen. Tam, the court is rebuilt, we survived Amarantha, we survived Night and we are finally happy. Nothing will tear us away from you. We love you."
"Feyre is right. Whatever you saw...It was just a nightmare. We're here, and we love you more than anything."
That was all he needed to be at peace again.
"I love you too." He said sweetly.
Feyre kissed him, then Lucien, afterward the throuple settled back down into their bed, both Feyre and Lucien held onto him as they went back to sleep.
Just having their presence alone was enough to make him forget that awful nightmare. There was nothing to fear with his Court prospering and his beloveds by his side. With the sound of rain outside he soon fell back asleep, relishing in the happy end he never thought he'd have.

Currently Reading the ACOTAR series on book 2 here are some thoughts as I read through the books - A thread.
ACOTAR (Finished reading)
Thoughts are in no particular order
• Feyre chose tamlin when Lucien was right there!!!! Lucien x Feyre > Tamlin x Feyre
• I think Nesta was wrong for always taking the money that feyre worked so hard for when they were humans. The comment about oh I always knew you’d be able to get more bitch the fuck. Go chop the firewood you had one job.
• I get that the spring court was cursed to not talk about said curse but you idiots could draw a fucking story board. Do an interruptive dance idk… anything non verbal… CHARADES FOR FUXKS SAKES
• The moment she realizes that almost all the staff at spring court watched her get lured out by the puca.
• Lucien hesitating to save Feyre but then feeling guilty about it.
• I think lucien was right tamlin should’ve waited three more days before shipping Feyre off she probably would’ve said I love you if he hadn’t just sprung it on it as she was being carried away.
• The glamour not working on Nesta is interesting
• The difference between tamlin and Rhysand: Rhysand going through literally daily sexual assault for 49 years to protect his people vs tamlin going and sending his own people out in Hopes that one of them gets killed so that he could bring that person over to woo them make them fall in love with him so that they would be released from the curse
• Rhysand under the mountain is just chefs kiss
• yes he did some unfathomable things like force her to make the bargain but in all honesty it was for her own good in the end.
• Rhysand was protecting her even before the bond snapped for him.
• Page 324 - Rhysand falls in love with Feyre he just doesn’t know it yet
• page 328 him being the only one that votes for her to win.
• him letting his guard down around her when he stays in her cell for a little while to get a break from everything
• when the bond snaps for Rhysand. Proves my theory that mates aren’t rare the majority of them are just born human and not fae.
ACOMAF (currently reading)
• tamline is totally giving women should be seen not heard vibes
• the fuck tampon you really gonna lie there while the women who risked her whole life LITERALLY is waisting away and vomiting her guts up from TRAUMA in the bathroom and you just gonna ignore her.
• Feyre waiting for the bond to snap with tamlin 😬
• ianthe - that’s it that’s the thought it’s not a good one
• tamlin is giving me the ick
• Ianthe wants tamlin for herself
• suspicious that she made sure she was the only priestess there - possibly a villain turn??
• there’s my boy Lucien trying to help Feyre.
• if I didn’t love Feysand so much I’d be Feyre x Lucien.
• the dress did Feyre dirty
• No red and what does Ianthe do put red there
• I mean good riddance cause I feel like if the. Red wasn’t there she would have went through with the wedding and Rhysand wouldn’t have heard her and saved her.
• hello Feyre darling — #dead
• the sentences he has her practice amazing work truly some of his best.
• feyre realizing that Morgan wanted to hang out but was waiting for and invite
• really tamlin
• I don’t think he was any bit concerned about her well being at all while at the night court he just wanted to get inside information
• he pretty much interrogated her as soon as she got back.
• This makes me think he’s up to something - and it’s not good
• Rhysand treats Feyre like a capable fae while tamlin coddles her and treats her like an object a fragile object.
On chapter 8 will continue as I go…

hey, about your sjm's abelism against lucien, i'd just like to say i 100% agree!! i'd like to point at other abelist things in sjm's writing and i apologize in advance bc this might be long.
as a disabled person, yeah sjm is pretty fuckin abelist, unintentional or not. tower of dawn's disability storyline starts out as ehh to downright awful as it employs the abelist fantasy trope of *~magical healing*~. although chaol comes to accept disability and others who are disabled by the end (which is good!), he gets fully healed :/ also yrene's treatment of him in the beginning was atrocious. telling him to stand up even though he couldn't?? it read like an abusive medical care worker
on acotar-related things, i disliked how feyre's father is depicted as useless until his death, where he "finally does something" buuut it ends with him dying. if someone is ill enough that they cannot do anything, calling them useless and then killing them when they save the day gives me the ICK.
finally, the way nesta's mental health was handled was abelist (same could be said with feyre and tamlin in their own ways) sjm cannot depict PTSD/trauma consistently or, hell, equally between her characters. her knowledge of this disorder seems so misinformed, either that or she purposefully cherry picked qualities, which is an awful way to portray any disorder. nesta's """healing""" in acosf was absolutely miserable. sorry not sorry but i don't think getting dicked down, chocolate, and meditation will help anyone get better from literal Post Traumatic Stress Disorder!! it's giving a middle aged white woman telling my disabled ass "have you tried yoga?"
anyway, sorry about my rant 😭 as someone who liked sjm as teen during early tog and acotar book 1, i am. very bitter sometimes.
Hi,
It is definitely good to get a perspective from someone who has a disability rather than from someone like me who is ablebodied and only has family members who are disabled, so my perspective is limited in that regard, so thanks for your views on the matter.
I hadn't read ToG yet, so I can't judge if it's ableist or not, but if it's true, like you said with the whole magic healing, then that's pretty bad, especially if she has no knowledge or even personal relations with topics like paralysis. The thing is magic healing in itself; I don't hate so much. It makes sense in a fantasy setting to maybe have advanced healing abilities, but to outright make a character who is disabled to completely heal and have no side effects or struggles later on is such bullshit, and this trope should die out as it is right now.
The problem with Papa Archeron I have is that he is a nonexistent character till the end. I don't know why sarah even bothered to write him in the story; he hasn't even gotten a name.
Also, his health problems are so vaguely described that I often forgot that he had any, and the fact that he is a deadbeat makes it even more atrocious that she portrays a man with physical and mental health problems as such an unlikeable throwaway character.
Don't get me started on Nesta. I hated every second of Acosf; everybody was constantly dogpilling on her, and for what?
Did she have problems and made mistakes? absolutly, but why is the inner circle (besides elain and feyre) in nestas business? Like,  nobody besides her sisters truly cared for her and wanted her to get better; they just wanted her powers and making her amiable so she could sit with them on their stupid dinner table and fondle rhysass ballsack.
The fact that they know to some extent that mental health problems existed in the night court since we got the library with the sa survivors, but the ic couldn't fathom to maybe just ask some healer what the best course of action for nesta is since she obviously struggles, is so baffling to me.
But since SJM thinks hiking/ training= therapy, I'm not surprised by anything anymore.
Don't worry, rants here are always welcome💙

I don’t understand author lady’s whole mates thing. I have seen and read better soul mate plots better than hers. Hers is creepily forced and just gross and sounds like a creepy breeding program. Like we even see it with rice man’s parents and Tamlin’s parents. All her mates but didn’t really love each other. Then with F/eyre and Rice man and Nesta and c/assian, Nesta and F/eyre have to physically change their bodies to have their mates babies, like clearly they weren’t equal with their mates in every way.
I didn't forget about you, Anon!
I've never been a big fan of soul mates but like most tropes, if it's done well, I'll like it in that instance alone. On the whole, I'd rather the characters fall in love in a sweet realistic way based on mutual understanding and common interests. I'm so boring, I know.
You're absolutely right about how Maas uses the Fated Mates trope. I feel like some things don't need to be over explained. Sometimes if you answer too many questions you're left with midi-chlorians or more plot holes than you had before. Why did it have to be a weird baby making compatibility thing to make super spawn? Why couldn't it be the person who The Mother sees making you the happiest? An immortal life is long. The Mother doesn't want you to spend eternity alone.
All of her couples give me the ick. Too many abusive and toxic relationships. Even the ones she wants you to see as healthy and as "Goals" are paper thin, mostly sex based and toxic. And like... I see people contributing the problem to the tropes she uses but I don't believe that. Like the young human woman with the centuries old being trope. The problem isn't the trope. It's how it's being utilized. If you make her older than 19, like 25+ and give her a good support system, life and friendships outside of the relationship and not make him overly powerful to the point that Rhys is, then you have a pretty good foundation. You can explain things like "Fae age slower than humans due to their longer lifespans" and that compensates for his age being in the hundreds while still behaving like a Frat Boy.
I just don't understand who would fantasize about a dude saying he's "shackled to you" or taking away your bodily automony. Like... I like some pretty weird shit but in all of that weird shit I like, I've never written about a love interest degrading the woman he supposedly loves by telling her she's a burden to him and he resents the fact she's his soul mate. Or he knows better than her and shouldn't know something important about her own body. That to me doesn't sound like love.

If Feylin was canon though all books, do you think it would be like a good choice to separate them to give feyre the time to grow on her own and like actually age up? Because even if Tamlin don't actually mean to be like that they are very apart in age... VERY. And I don't know if SJM's tried to compesated that giving all the males characters a brain of a horny teen but... the age difference it's still there. And we can observe (and I think you made a post about it) how biased Feyre can be depending of whom she is with... She doesn't complain, and WHEN she does a simple saying makes her shut again... I don't know if it something I create of her, like a mental image or if she's really like that... But my impression is that she accepted EVERYTHING so that she can still be with the person she loved. She's is so afraid of losing that she don't set boundaries or idk stood more to her morals... As we can see with Rhysand and with TamTam. She just so young. And it doesn't mare how much Sarah tries to show how strong she is and how Glowing and sparked, she's just a twenty two years woman, that was treated like nothing by her mom, ignored by her family to the point she was desperate that NO ONE tried to saved her :(. The only human relationship before the Fae was a console, but nothing more than that. When she see red flags she always tried to convince herself that it all HER, that she's the one overreacting... And all her romantic relationships look so dangerous...
(omg bookish I'm so sorry I was just gonna ask a simple question but then I get all angsty... I hope you doing fine btw)
This is actually a really good question, but if you want me to be completely honest I think the answer to that has more to do with what type of story Sarah would've written after ACOTAR had Feylin remained canon. though I will acknowledge that the age gap even makes me feel ick at times too
These books are fantasy fairytale retellings, BATB retellings to be specific, so there's no way to wholly make that healthy. If Sarah exclusively went with that angle, the "ehhhhhh its just a fairytale my readers can look the other way and accept the relationship because its just a fictional fairytale retelling", then IMO it would work just fine. Fiction doesn't need to be sanitized, after all, and especially if it were solely marketed towards adult readers who are aware of the dangers of real life age gap relationships then Sarah wouldn't really need to. We can let it be fluffy and cute with no further introspection on the age gap because it's only fiction.
It's a more nuanced convo if we're talking YA, because as @longsightmyth has pointed out before teen pregnancies are often caused by teen girls hooking up with older adult men, not boys their age, so the romanticization of the age gap in YA and how Feylin plays into that needs a more nuanced look. Maybe here I'd argue yes, they could be separated and then meet back up decades later. That's actually. Hold up. that could be a good fic idea
And if we're also going to do the whole "abuse and domestic violence and red flags" theme from ACOMAF, then IMO I'd also say yes--separate Feylin, let Feyre grow older, and then Feyre decades later, as an established adult, can be used to explore those themes of red flags and abuse as she'll be in a place mentally where she can healthily enter a relationship with someone older than her.

i've seen a lot of people saying they'd want cbmthy reader to end up in spring but i don't see it. reader only seems to have a bad relationship with az (and even that is not a harmful relationship per se, as much of an asshole as he's being i think he would protect her like he protects the rest of the ic and the night court) so going to spring makes no sense since 1. tamlin hurt her sister and 2. said sister damn near destroyed his court (actually kind of hate that she did that that way too but) and reader ending up there but still being on good terms with the night court just doesn't really make sense to me. also tamlin acts like a republican, he gave me the ick beyond repair, i know some people want a redemption (and i accept that) but id rather not have to read about him.
my personal feelings aside i think if reader really doesn't end up with azriel (which i think wouldn't make sense because then all the hurt would be for nothing) the best bets for her to move would be autumn with eris but only if eris is already high lord because subjecting her to beron would suck, the day court since helion is the closest to the night court and they trust him also she would love the libraries or she could replace lucien with vassa and jurian (or join him if he doesnt end up with elain or in the day court), the winter court maybe but only for the fact that it's tje other court that seems closer to the night court mostly because of vivianne. or my favorite which is just staying home lol her family is in the night court so even if her and az dont end up together she deserves to be able to stay there with her family as much as him. azriel loved mor for 500 years and knew she didnt love him back but they both still managed to act civil and be friends. even if az hurt reader more i hope it wouldn't be to the point of them not being able to be civil so they could just stay, and they live forever so she'd get over her feelings eventually and find someone new. moving a character away when something bad or a breakup happen is something i always disliked so maybe that's why im giving it so much thought but it really always feels off because what do u mean you can't both keep your family/friends? if nothing truly bad happens why does one character always have to leave? idk
before i finish i just wanna say im not trying to be mean or speak over anyone that has said they'd like her to be in spring. i just wanted to add my opinion but i know over writing like this we cant really convey much emotion so i dont want to sound mean or anything
First of all, I didn’t think you were being mean at all, but thank you for adding that clarification anyway :)
Secondly, to be fair, for me it’s not so much as where she goes rather that she simply needs some time elsewhere. Nothing permanent, but a shift in scene because she’s caught in stale waters and if nothing changes she won’t ever learn to step forward and progress. Also, while the idea of her going to the Spring Court is—I think—very fun, and would be like throwing a spanner in the works, I feel there are only really two places she could go that would make sense to the story, and neither of those are the Spring Court (as interesting as it could be)
Also, I am fully down for a Tam redemption arc 😭🤌
I don’t want to say who she’ll end up with because I think part of the fun is contained within not knowing? She might get with Bas for a bit but then move to the Autumn Court, might become happy by herself and content on her own, might get with Az only for a mating bond to pop up between her and Eris. Who knows? 👀
(I enjoy messing with you)
It might be fun for her and Helion to get in touch, even if it’s just her requesting a scroll or book from one of his libraries, but no promises about that 😭
And thank you for sending this in, it really helps guide me with future parts—helping me know what to emphasise or what I should try to expand upon if it’s been skated over in a previous chapter :) 🧡💛

The age gaps in acotar always make me squeamish.
Mor got her period at 16 and could have gotten pregnant in theory at that age.
Rhys’ mum was 18/19 when she was mated to his dad and could have gotten pregnant then.
There might have been an age gap of 19 years between Rhys and his mother. I think Eris is only supposed to be about 22 years younger than his mother which is the same age gap as Feyre and Nyx.
To put that into ACOTAR context, Azriel is about 30 years older than Tamlin. Tarquin is 450 years younger than Azriel. There is no visible difference in their physical appearances even at that age gap.
It means that if Azriel’s mother was a friend of Rhys’, they were likely friends before she was mated since she moved to Velaris after. And likely Azriel’s mother was also young when she had him and there would be no difference in their appearance in terms of ageing - so she’d look more like a sibling.
The LoA should also look like a sibling to Eris/Lucien rather than a mother if there’s only 20 odd years between her and Eris.
If tarquin and Azriel look similar ages despite tarquin having 80 years to Azriel’s 450 then Feyre and nyx will look like siblings for a long, long time which gives me the icks!!!

MY thoughts after reading acosf
Being mean and cruel does not make a character badass
Being feminine and having a hobby doesn’t make a character boring
Saying a character is the kindest of all yet failing to see that kindness in the book?? Idk, she only seems polite to me.
Nesta got on her knees for Amren and begged for forgiveness, but she couldn’t even voice a thank you to Feyre?
Trauma is not an excuse to treat others like trash
Nesta being there for Elain her whole life even when she was severely depressed and traumatized, only for Elain to get mad and basically abandoning Nesta when she’s dealing with her trauma her way does not sit right with me
Acosf was a healing and growing journey, not really a redemption arc.
House of wind stairs plot. Do I need to say more?
Giving up powers you didn’t want in the first place to save someones life is not a sacrifice
She shouldn’t have given up her powers
Eris and Nesta intrigued me more than Nessian
The scene w Lanthys showing Nesta him and her together was kinda…hot
Villain Nesta could’ve been so powerful
I would absolutely love Nesta if she treated both her sisters the same and was cruel to everyone else
Feyre is severely underrated in her own series
Idk how I feel about Feyre locking Nesta in the HOW and being compared to what Tamlin did.
“Elain is Elain” what??
I wanted Feyre to snap at Nesta and bitch slap her AT LEAST once
I feel like so much was left unsaid and swept under the rug
I think I liked Nesta more in acowar than by the end of acosf
Idc, Nesta should’ve apologized to Feyre
Loved the Valkyries friendship so much more than Feyre, Mor, and Amrens
Acosf made me sympathize w Nesta, but I still don’t like her
Azriel stopped loving Mor after 500 years bc of Elain just like that?
Elain doesn’t owe Lucien anything but at least a formal rejection to him. Where’s that kindness?
She was asking Amren about turning human again, i think she would’ve asked how to sever the bond long ago.
Lucien wouldn’t invoke a blood duel.
People think there’s something between Lucien and Vassa but not Azriel and Gwyn?
Elriels relationship is like “🙂” in my head
Mixed feelings about Azriels bonus chapter
Him and Elain obviously have feelings towards each other, but how would that play out in the long run?
Elain would always have that bond w Lucien, Azriel probably has a mate out there, his shadows skittered away from her, I’m trying so hard to like them. They just give me the ick together.
How do his shadows work?! They run from someone and dance with another persons breath?
I really want a Tamlin redemption…
Elain was semi curious about Lucien in Acowar (while still being in love w Graysen, even after having recently experienced something traumatic) and after she just completely ignores him??
I don’t blame Az for thinking sexually of Elain, but dude couldn’t think of anything else?
Also don’t blame him for wondering why she’s not his mate since his brothers are mated to the sisters
He could’ve at least said he has feelings other than lust towards her idk
Why did he avoid the question ab Mor?!
Gwyn could definitely be a lightsinger(highly doubt shes an evil one though)
Cassian gifting the symphonia to Nesta is the sweetest thing ever
Ok but what if Gwyn asked Azriel if he sung bc she heard a faint singing before (like Azriel did after talking to Gwyn) and it’s actually their mate bond singing (music between their souls) or something. Idk maybe I’m reaching
Will not apologize for this:)

Ranking the main characters of ACOTAR
Nesta Archeron - so nesta is one of the most realistic characters sjm has ever written. her depiction of mental illness and PTSD is something i relate to a lot. The way she was treated in ACOSF is bs and i will never forgive the inner circle for pulling that shit :) (my queen my love my boo thang
Gwyn and Emerie- they're perfect angels. I love emerie and i hope sjm actually takes the fucking time to explore her characterization and sexuality. i need ONE GOOD DEPICTION OF A WLW WOMAN IN THIS SERIES PLEASE GOD PLEASE.
Feyre Archeron- uhh she's sexy? idk I'm really sad about what SJM did with her character. much like nesta she kind of tamed her? instead of being this strong amazing feminist icon she just kinda became a glorified secretary/desk lady for Rhys? idk domestic feyre gives me the bit of an ick. However, on the rare occasion when Feyre is not with Rhys, i fucking adore her.
Lucien- he's the only male character i can tolerate in this book. even though after he found out about elain he became a bit of a possessive little bitch.
Amren (minus Acosf i still haven't forgiven her)
Morrigan- She's mid. Based on her characterization I feel like SJMaas has never actually talked to a queer woman. or a queer period. like wtf do you mean her coming out scene was a chapter long. shut up?? anyways hasty bad lgbtq rep as per usual
Elain Archeron- I feel like her character has a TON of potential and I honestly don't have anything against her. I just wish Sarah tapped into her character more
Cassian- the shit he pulled in acosf is unforgivable. I only ever like him when he's with nesta.
Azriel- stop treating this man like he's the next coming of christ. he's boring. he never talks. he simped for a woman who clearly didn't like him for like a billion years. as a lesbian i simple Dont Get It
Rhys- Stop treating this man like he invented feminism. he did not. he sexually assaulted feyre under the mountain, coerced her into a shady ass deal, and treated nesta like shit for something that wasn't really her fault? Also hid the fact that FEYRE COULD FUCKING DIE. WTF DUDE??? LIKE SORRY???
Tamlin- uh i mean goes without saying. BUT also Sarah J Maas is SHITTTTT at depicting toxic relationships. seriously Feylin had the most cartoony ass 2D ass abusive relationship like wtf
