---
I get a feelin' sometimes
That I can't get close enough to you
---
The gentle bump of your head against the bus window did little to distract you from your light headache. Frustrations from the day and the night before lingering as you looked above at the vermillion sky. It usually helped you feel better, stopping and looking up at the sky. To look up at the things that were bigger than you are, it helped you make the issues of your days feel small, but it wasn't enough today.
Your boss been making your experience at your job unenjoyable. For the past month and a half you'd been coming home more and more exhausted with piles of work that you couldn't seem to finish before the work hour was up. You had just gotten word of your candidacy for a promotion and although you were grateful you were not at all prepared for the hoops you'd have to jump through. You barely had time for self care by the time you'd get home from late nights at the office and your boyfriend's already busy schedule left you with only encouraging phone calls for the past week and a half. Your call with him last night left you slightly more motivated to go into work today but by the time your bus was approaching your stop that fiery ambition had dwindled into a flicker.
Stepping off at the stop right next to your apartment building you rolled your neck in a final attempt to relieve the tension that had been building and wouldn't settle. Releasing a deep sigh after the 3 flight hike you made to your apartment door, you expected to hear the gentle mewls of your dog waiting for you at the door. Except, those mewls were replaced by the sounds of r&b music and a baritone voice speaking to no one in particular.
You did your best to silently unlock and open the door to catch your boyfriend mid conversation with himself. He had a spare key to your apartment that you'd both decided was a good idea to have so that you could effectively coparent your dog and also give him a closer place to stay on the nights he came home late from the studio.
Taking your shoes off at the door and tiptoeing down the short corridor from the front door to the kitchen you took a peek at your boyfriend's back hovering over the stove. You tried to hide your giggle.
"Come on Joon, you've done this before." He says with his tongue out as he pours the finished pasta sauce over two hot plates of noodles. "Leo! Don't eat that!" he yells as your dog nibbles up a fallen noodle and dashes off towards you. Namjoon turns around at the sound of your soft laugh, "Hey baby."
"Hey babe. What's all this?" You ask as he places the two plates of fresh alfredo on the kitchen island and strolls over to you. He wraps you in his arms before placing his soft lips against yours and speaks again. "All this is for you" he says looking down into your eyes and kissing your forehead. "Now let's eat before Leo runs off with the rest of our food." You laugh and look down at your dog Leo looking up with a wagging tail, smiling as if he understood everything that was said about him."
Namjoon pulls your chair out for you before he sits next to you. You touch his resting hand before whispering a thank you and you both silently begin to eat your food. Minutes pass and you only have about three more scoops of alfredo left before you lick your lips and begin to speak.
"I thought today would be better after our conversation last night but it wasn't." You look down and fiddle with the napkin in your lap before looking up at Namjoon who stared softly at you while listening intently, and you speak again. "I've been feeling so lost and at a standstill with my career and I feel like I should be further along. This stagnant feeling isn't doing anything to help me feel like I'm good enough to overcome these setbacks and I feel like I can't get through it. I've been trying. I've done everything right and tried not to complain and I just feel like nothing is gonna get better." You promised yourself you wouldn't cry again but your body had decided to be your enemy and defy you. A slight shiver came over you as your brewing tears finally breached your cheeks and rolled easily down onto your work blouse.
"Come here love" Namjoon gestured to his laps and you came and settled sideways right on his legs. He made sure you were secure as you wrapped your arms around his neck and he took your chin to look you right into your eyes. He did that when he knew you were filled with doubt and unbelief. When you were afraid and unsure, in need of encouragement. "You are stronger than the situations you're facing right now and you are more than capable of anything you put your mind to. Weak is not a word I would use to describe someone who chooses to keep going, persevering, despite the things you've faced at your job and in your life. I've seen you get through these things before and you will again. It won't happen overnight baby, although I wished it would so that I can take that pain away for you." He pauses and wipes a stray tear away with his thumb.
"But you will get through this. Just hold on and keep putting your best foot forward. There's a lot of losses before the wins and I know your win is coming. You just keep being the amazing, beautiful, hardworking woman you are and your breakthrough will come. And if they can't see that then I can go down there and teach them a lesson." He joked once he saw the small smile forming on your face and you laughed together.
"Thank you, my love." you said placing a quick kiss on his cheek and another on his lips. "You always know the right thing to say."
"I try I try. Just like I tried my hand at this alfredo you devoured."
"I mean you might've made that right too, I don't know. It could've been better if I were here to taste test it." You laughed as he playfully nibbled at your cheek.
"Maybe next time I'll be the soux chef while you show me how it's done." He said with a smirk as you rose from his lap to put the plates in the sink.
"Oh absolutely. There's nothing I'm not able to teach you."

I Have ADHD
Fandom: Daredevil (MCU) Pairing: Matt Murdock x Reader (gender neutral) Warnings: none? Bit of swearing and dangerous driving, basically just author indulging in self-indulgent writing Word Count: 1643 words Summary: You're late to an ADHD consultation appointment and you're terrifying the shit out of your boyfriend Matt by driving like a maniac.
A/N: So this is 100% a self-indulgent fanfic. I just got diagnosed with ADHD and it was genuinely one of the happiest moments of my life. So I decided to share this joy with anyone who wants to read it. I couldn’t stop smiling when I wrote this, just like I couldn’t stop smiling (and crying and laughing) when I got my diagnosis.
A/N 2: This has no relation to the show Daredevil at all (besides Matt being there) so you don’t need to have watched it to enjoy this fic. I honestly don’t expect many people to read it because this is pure indulgence, but if any of you do, I hope you enjoy 💖
A/N 3: I’d like to give a huge shoutout to my wonderful friend and beta-reader @221birl1823 for reading this and for being a huge support in this journey for me. Thank you for everything; this one’s for you.
Tumblr media
“I’m late. I’m late. I’m fucking late.” You swerved through the traffic and flapped your hand at the car behind you when they slammed on their brakes and leaned on their horn. “Shit sorry sorry.”
“Killing us isn’t going to get you there any earlier,” Matt remarked dryly.
“Not helping.” But when you turned to glare at him, you noticed the death grip your boyfriend has on the dashboard and the slight green tinge to his cheeks. You eased up on the accelerator a bit and sighed. “Sorry, baby. I’m just stressed. I’ve been waiting for this appointment for six months and I’m late.”
You glanced at the clock again. 11:58. Your appointment was at midday, and you were still ten minutes away.
“I know.” He reached over to grip your hand in his, before ripping away to grip the dash again as you sped through a yellow light. “Just please get us there alive.”
Reluctantly, you did as he asked. Anyone else you probably would have told them to suck it up, but for Matt you’d do anything. Even be later than you already were. Plus, you couldn’t imagine it was fun being blind and being at the mercy of a speeding maniac. There was a reason he rarely let you drive—and it had nothing to do with living in New York.
When you were finally at a sensible pace again, Matt reached over to slide his fingers between yours. “Hey.”
You glanced over, squeezing his hand to let him know you were paying attention.
“What’s the worst thing that could happen?”
You furrowed your brow. You’d expected some kind and loving words, not him asking you to dredge up all your anxieties. But he had that earnest look on his face you never could say no to.
“Well, they could tell me I’ll have to wait longer which will only make me stress more. Or they’ll cancel my appointment for being late without notice. Or they’ll kick me out for good saying I should have gotten there earlier because they’re a fancy private fucking practice and they could do that!” As you listed all the worst-case scenarios you could, your anxiety started rising once more. You slammed on the brakes to avoid running up someone’s arse and flicked them the finger when they beeped at you.
“Okay. Well, if you have to wait longer, I’ll be with you to calm you down. If they cancel your appointment for being—” he checked the time “—six minutes late, then we’ll book it for the very next time we can, or demand to see someone else.” He tugged on your hand for your attention again. “And if they throw you out permanently, we’ll sue them.”
You snorted, leaning into him as you waited for the lights to turn green. “It’s a good thing I happen to know two great lawyers.”
He kissed your forehead. “Definitely a good thing. But I don’t think you’ll have to worry about it at all. You’ll be okay. It’ll go perfectly.”
You didn’t let go of him as you slammed on the accelerator and overtook a truck, and he gripped your hand tighter as you did.
You glanced at the clock again. 12:07. Anxiety stirred in your throat at the sight, but you took a deep breath and focused on the circles Matt was drawing on the inside of your wrist.
Everything’s going to be okay, you reassured yourself. It doesn’t matter that I’m late. It’s not the end of the world. If I have to wait longer that’s okay, and if they try to kick me out, I’ll glue my ass to that seat until someone’s free.
You took another breath, calming down before a car suddenly swerved in front of you. You tore your hand from Matt’s with a curse and swerved to the other lane, narrowly missing a motorcycle.
“You fucking asshole!” You glared at the other driver as you passed her. “Where’d you learn to drive? The fucking moon?”
She flipped you off without looking and you snarled as you rounded a corner.
“Are you talking about yourself?” Matt asked faintly.
You snorted, your mood rising instantly, and you pried his hand from the dash and wrapping it in yours. You pressed a kiss to the back of it, only smiling a little. “What are you saying about my driving, Murdock?”
“That you’re a menace.”
You grinned. Turning into the driveway, you slipped into a free park. “We’re here.”
“Next time we’re taking a cab.”
“A cab can’t make up for lost time like I can. If we’d gotten a cab, we’d have been late.”
“Later than we already are?”
You poked him in the chest, outraged. “Too soon.” You locked the car behind you and headed in.
Before you got to the door and your nerves could rise anymore, Matt grabbed your hand. “Hey, you’ll be okay. This is an ADHD clinic. They’re used to dealing with people with poor time management.”
You let out a shaky breath. “So I guess it’s a point in my favour that I’m late to a consultation where one guy decides if I meet the criteria another guy made up?”
His smile was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Come find me when you’re done.”
With that he headed towards the coffee shop two doors down and you headed inside to face the music.
~~~
“We’ll start you off slowly, half a tablet today, two halves tomorrow, one and a half on day 3 and then two from then on. Try not to take them after midday as they could keep you awake later in the night.” The doctor folded his notebook. “Any questions?”
“Ah yeah, one.” You rubbed your fingers, squeezing the tension out of them. “So when I walk out of that door—” you gestured at the closed door to his office “—I have ADHD? Like I’m officially diagnosed with ADHD?”
He smiled. “Yes. You have ADHD.”
The air left you in a rush. “Okay. Right. Thank you.”
He nodded, turning back to his computer, and started typing up your script. You pressed you hand to you mouth to cover your laugh as you replayed the words in your head. You have ADHD. You have ADHD.
You blinked the tears from your eyes, dabbing at the corners. Holy shit. I have ADHD.
You grabbed a tissue from the box beside you, dabbing the corner of your eyes before you could make a fool of yourself.
The doctor glanced at you. “Are you alright?”
You breathed out a laugh. “Yeah. I’m just so relieved.”
He smiled kindly. “It’s often a relief to finally get a diagnosis.”
“So much.” You squeezed the tissue in your hands and sat back in the chair like your muscles couldn’t hold you up.
“Here’s your script.” He handed it to you. “You can get this filled at any pharmacy, and you can start taking it this afternoon, if you like. Just remember to follow the schedule I gave you.”
You nodded quickly. “Of course. Yes. Thank you so much.”
He stood up and you followed him to the door. “You do look relieved. And lighter than when you walked in.”
“So damn relieved.” You laughed a little. “Thank you so much.”
“Have a good day.”
When asked later, you couldn’t remember much of what followed, of paying, of booking a follow up appointment, of anything but the thoughts: I have ADHD.
It wasn’t until you were outside that it finally hit you emotionally and you couldn’t stop the tears streaming down your cheeks. You stumbled blindly to your car, tears pouring down your cheeks and laughter spilling from you.
“Hey.” Twin familiar arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you into his chest. “How’d it go?”
You spun around to face your boyfriend. “You didn’t hear?”
He shook his head. “Of course not. I wasn’t listening. I didn’t want to intrude on that.” Matt reached up to cup your cheeks. “You’re crying…and you’re laughing. What’d he say?”
“I have ADHD!” You threw your hands up in the air, smiling the biggest smile you ever had.
“Yeah?” Matt pulled you close and a grin bloomed on his face to match yours before he spun you in a circle. “That’s fantastic! Congratulations, sweetheart! I’m so happy for you!”
“Me too!” You grinned, wrapping your arms around his neck when he didn’t put you down. “I have ADHD! Officially! Actually! It’s not in my head! I’m not lazy! I’m not making this up! I have ADHD!”
“I never doubted you for a second.” Matt pressed his forehead to yours, smiling so hard his cheeks must have ached. “I can’t believe you finally got it!”
You laughed, biting your lip. “I finally got it! After all these years and all the assholes saying I didn’t, I finally got it. The confirmation I needed!”
He spun you in another circle and you let out a shrieking laugh before you stopped. “Wait. I have to tell Megan!” You pushed at his shoulders until he let you go. “They’ve been with me every step of the way! I have to tell them the good news! Ahh! They’re going to be so happy for me!”
Matt let you go with a laugh as you ran into the car park, your phone out and your smile so wide your cheeks ached. He blinked when you stopped and spun around to face him again.
“Almost forgot.” You leapt into his arms, knowing he’d catch you as he always did. Being in his arms always felt like the safest place on earth. And right now, it was the happiest too. You cupped his cheeks and pulled him in for a soft kiss. Pulling away, you rested your head against his, smiling like mad as you said, “Thank you, baby. Thank you for helping me through this and being there for me whenever I needed it.”
His eyes crinkled in the corners, and he leaned into your touch. “Anytime, sweetheart.”
You have ADHD. The words ran through your head, and you felt so giddy you wanted to scream and laugh and leap for joy. “I have ADHD!” you whispered.
“Yeah, you do, baby. You have ADHD.”
Tumblr media
A/N: Like I said, purely self-indulgent. I just want to add, my experience of ADHD and diagnosis isn’t universal. This fic is purely about me expressing my relief and happiness over finally getting a diagnosis that has been slowly wrecking me for far too long. I honestly still can’t believe it. And I can’t stop smiling!
Comments and reblogs are much loved 💖💖💖
Le Cercueil de Verre
Tumblr media
(Yandere Vil x Female Reader)
A fanfic version of the original Snow White stories
Tumblr media
Clack
Vil's heels stepped into the large room. He walked past the forgotten and unused gifts he had so gratefully gifted her and the makeup that had long since expired. He dare not throw them away, his dear lover had used it at one point long ago. His blonde lock gently hid the side of his face; it hid his loving smile and heart eyes.
Once he reached the corner of the room, he gently slid his hand over the cold glass. Vil watched as your eyes continued to stay hidden behind your caked lids. The flowers in your resting hands had long since died against your chest but he dare not disturb your before the time has come for him to. Soft puffs appeared on the glass as your chest slowly raised up and down.
Vil felt that he should never hide you in the dark ground and let you be scared of the pitch black void of dirt. You were too beautiful for him to even imagine putting you in the ground like some forgotten pair of shoes in his closet.
Your white dress lay gently across your body like an ocean over land and your jeweled necklace and rings gleamed in the candle light. Vil always felt a rush of pride flow over him anytime he saw the lovely wedding ring on your finger. Oh, how he wished he could hold your hand so you could see his own matching ring. The comb he had specially made for you with his own two hands spiked into your hair like an elegant crown and the corset -he had stringed so tightly that you could almost see every bone in your torso- had not even a singly thread popping out of the expensive lace.
Nearby, a shining bitten into apple lay in a glass box, surrounded by golden accents. Vil treated it like a trophy, after all, it was the objects that brought you to where you are now. Due to it's magical creation, it would never rot and would continue to glimmer like the sun in it's proper place, to gaze upon like a statue.
"Ah~ my love, how I can't wait for you to awaken so we can start anew. I know you'll be upset that I have made you sleep for so long, I just needed some more time" Vil smiled as he rested his head on the glass coffin. He traced your face into the glass with his finger tips as he imagined the life you two would enjoy once you had waken up from your long slumber and allowed him to treat you like his queen. His smile widened just thinking about it.
He continued to continue the mind pictures of you two having a family, living in peace and quiet, and-
The box started to shake.
Vil lifted his head up to look down at your form in his silent but alarmed form. His violet eyes lit up as he saw your face scrunching up and slowly, your eyes opened. "Guards!" He said in a hurry as men with armor appeared at his side in mere moments. "Yes sir!" The guards said as Vil stood up, trying his best to keep himself from acting like a child high on sugar. "Get this case off of your queen, Immediately!" He cried as the guards dashed to hurriedly but carefully lift the heavy box from your form and set it to the side of you.
You lift yourself up as you look around. Your eyes widen as your body starts to sweat. "V-Vil..." You stutter as you try to pick yourself up but find you are too fatigued to do so; your body hasn't been moving for years after all. You hugged yourself, trying to make yourself as small as possible.
Everything felt heavy in your gut as you started to shake and your lip quivered; the guards surrounding you two were two much. It was as if they were just as twisted as he was for letting this happen to you.
Tears fell from your face as Vil's eyes softened as he brushed his soft fingers over your cheek to wipe away the river flowing from your eyes. You started to breathe heavier as Vil wrapped his arms around you.
"I know it's a lot to take in right now but-" He looked into your eyes. "you will forever be my queen and I will finally have my happily ever after"
Therenlover’s Official Fanfic Glossary!
Hey hey hey! This is the place where you can find all my up-to-date fanfics linked nicely, read about what projects I have upcoming, and learn what requests I’m taking at the moment! Cheers!
This post is massive so, for the sake of your dash, everything is under the cut
A NOTE ABOUT REQUESTS!
I will do my best to fulfill any requests I get while my ask box/requests are open! That being said, I cannot promise every request will get done, and that if they do, they’ll be done in a timely manner. I’m currently working on a long-form project that needs a lot of time and energy to come out consistently, so unless I’m doing a writing event most of my writing juice will be focused on that. That being said, if you want something ask! The worst I can possibly do is direct you towards someone else who might be able to write what you want if I cant.
If I choose not to do your request based on personal preference (it makes me uncomfy/I don’t write for the character at that time/I don’t feel I can write what you want/etc.) I will do my best to contact you and let you know! That being said, if you think your ask got buried/forgotten, feel free to message me again and let me know, but please tell me when you message me if I should be looking for a prior request.
I saw an idea like this online ages ago and it’s just come back to me like ... I could imagine Natasha doing this. You’ve been married a year and you both celebrate your wedding anniversary on the wrong day
Natasha Romanoff X Reader - SAVE THE DATE
Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow X FemReader Fanfic
Synopsis: On the day of your third wedding anniversary with Natasha, you realise that you’ve both been celebrating the wrong date
Warnings: Language
Words: 598
Tumblr media
Natasha was humming quietly to herself as she arranged the flowers in the vase on the kitchen counter, a content smile on her face. She was so lost in her own world, happily trimming the stems of each flower that she didn’t even bother to check who was knocking at the door to her apartment, instead just shouting for them to enter.
When she heard the heavy footsteps of several people, she finally did look away from what she was doing, glancing up at the new arrivals with a frown.
“What are you doing here?”
The men laughed quietly, not at all surprised by Natasha’s apparent distaste for their company having known her so long by now.
“Nice to see you too, Nat.” teased Clint, giving the red head a playful smile as he stepped further into the room.
Tony pushed the door closed behind him, side stepping Steve and Clint as he made his way furthest inside and stopped on the opposite side of the breakfast bar in front of Natasha, “You act like you’re not pleased to see three of your favourite colleagues?”
“You’re not my favourites.” shot back Natasha, her tone emotionless but a small curve to her lips none the less. “I married my favourite.”
Ignoring Natasha’s response, Tony nodded to the flowers she was arranging, “Those are nice.”
“Aren’t they?” Natasha was unable to hide the happiness in her voice, a beaming expression making its way across her face as she looked over the flowers again and slid another into place. “My wife knows what she’s doing.”
“I’ll say.” agreed Tony, hopping up onto the counter and leaning back to look at the red head, “What’s the occasion? What’d she do wrong?”
Natasha tutted, “She didn’t do anything wrong, it’s our wedding anniversary.”
Tony appeared puzzled for a moment, looking like he was going to say something before abruptly closing his mouth in thought. He glanced over at Clint who was checking his watch with interest, both men sharing a look once he lifted his head.
It wasn’t often Natasha missed something and she definitely didn’t miss the awkward silence and eye contact between the two men, her hands stilling momentarily as she gave them both a frown, “What?”
“What’s the date?” asked Tony.
“The fifteenth.”
Tony clicked his tongue, looking back at Clint who shook his head vigorously from side to side in warning. Natasha didn’t miss that either.
“What’s wrong with all of you?”
Steve cleared his throat awkwardly, stepping forward so he was in the middle of Tony and Clint and the two men could no longer keep looking at each other, “It’s nothing Nat, that’s really sweet that you got flowers on your anniversary, congratulations.”
The mumbling of the man on the counter didn’t pass Natasha by, however he had said it so quietly that she couldn’t quite catch what the words were. Picking up one of the roses, she pointed the stem at him threateningly, “Spit it out, Stark.”
“Well the thing is ... I remember your wedding. It was a beautiful day really, I-“
“I wouldn’t Tony.” cut in Clint, certain that what was going to happen next wouldn’t be pleasant. The death glare he received from Natasha was enough for him to throw his hands up in surrender and fall silent again.
Tony cleared his throat, “So ... see ... I can’t help but think that there was a little discussion about the date because we had some work issues we needed to resolve.”
“Yes, I remember.” agreed Natasha.
“And do you also remember you two getting married on the thirteenth? Because I do.”
Natasha scoffed, “No we didn’t.”
“Clint?”
At Tony’s call of his name, Clint looked down at the ground, scuffing his boot against the floor as he scratched the back of his neck uncomfortably and tried not to shrink under Natasha’s gaze.
“Well?” asked Natasha impatiently.
Clint winced at the irritated tone, reluctantly meeting her eye with a small shrug, “It was the thirteenth, Nat. Remember? It was a Friday? We all made a joke about it being bad luck?”
Opening her mouth to retort, Natasha quickly shut it again as she narrowed her eyes and thought for a moment. Instead of arguing with her team mates any further, she raised her voice so it would reach the bedroom down the corridor, “Babe, can you come in here a sec?”
As you made your way into the kitchen, you hadn’t been expecting company and offered the men in your apartment a warm smile. You moved over towards Natasha, resting a hand on her hip as you leaned in to press a kiss to her cheek but weren’t given the chance as she stepped back to speak.
“What date did we get married?”
The fact she hadn’t allowed you to kiss her along with the question threw you a little, not sure if it was a test of some kind as you glanced around everyone in the room with a suspicious frown before looking back at your wife, “The fifteenth? Hence the flowers? Is this a trick because I’m a little confused.”
“They say it was the thirteenth.”
Your eyebrows furrowed further, rubbing at your chin in thought as you gave your head a shake slowly, “No ... it was definitely the fifteenth.”
“You know you two were lucky you had us helping you for the wedding because you’re both useless.” cut in Tony, going to place one of the flowers beside him into the vase but receiving a smack to the back of his hand from Natasha, “It was the thirteenth, dummies.”
“No ...” this time you didn’t sound so confident and Tony had to laugh.
“Oh come on! You don’t remember us teasing you?” asked Tony, a disbelievingly smile on his face. “We were all like ‘wow can’t believe you’re not only going to marry the black widow but you’re doing it on Friday the 13th’. Any of this ringing a bell?”
Looking away from the other men in the room, you gave Natasha a glance. The other woman looked like she couldn’t decide if she found the whole thing terribly annoying or just funny.
“I’m getting our marriage certificate.” you announced, making your way hastily out of the room and all but running down the corridor back to your bedroom.
By this point even Steve and Clint had joined in with Tony’s amusement, all three men trying and failing to hide their smiles as they waited patiently for you to return with the news. Not one of them could contain a laugh as they heard you shouting from the other end of the hallway.
“Holy shit they’re right!” you brought the piece of paper with you for good measure, dashing back into the kitchen and holding it up to Natasha in disbelief, “We’ve been celebrating on the wrong date.”
“Haven’t you guys been married like three years now?” asked Steve.
“That’s enough out of you, Captain Obvious.” you scolded, looking back at your wife, “Is this my fault or your fault?”
Natasha shrugged with a smirk, “I’m not sure but let’s say it’s yours.”
“Yeah that sounds about right.” you muttered, tossing the certificate onto one of the kitchen sides as you made your way towards the fridge and looked inside.
“What a relief I hadn’t given you your present yet. Now I can save it until next year.”
At Natasha’s words you immediately closed the fridge door, turning to the other woman and quirking an eyebrow as you opened the bottle of juice you had just retrieved, “Well that hardly seems fair, I already gave you yours.”
“I know ... and your present was soooo much better than flowers as well.” teased Natasha.
“Hand it over.”
Natasha smirked, going back to arranging the flowers and shrugging, “Couldn’t possibly give you it now. It’s more of a private gift and we have company.”
“Yeah, why are you guys here again?” you asked, directing your question to your team mates as you suddenly became desperate to have Natasha to yourself.
“Funnily enough it wasn’t to watch you two have anniversary sex two days too late.” joked Tony, hopping down from the kitchen counter, “Work beckons.”
You groaned, “Seriously?”
“We’ll let you two get ready, meet you downstairs in ten minutes.” Stated Steve, offering you both a nod before all three men started to make their way outside.
Grumbling quietly, you took a few swigs of your juice before tossing it back into the fridge. Just as you closed the door, you felt two arms wrap around your waist and Natasha’s chin resting on your shoulder.
“Seems marrying me on the thirteenth was bad luck after all.” teased Natasha, pressing a quick kiss to the side of your neck, “Now you have to work and miss out on your anniversary gift.”
Turning in the other woman’s arms, you gave her a grin as you brushed your thumb over the side of her jaw, “Oh honey, you’re gonna be giving me that gift later. And it’s already two days late so you have some making up to do.”
Natasha laughed, giving you a quick kiss as she stepped back with a wink, “Challenge accepted.”
Chapter 1:
Tumblr media
It was quite hard to imagine a woman like me trying to find a husband. I’m not really the type that’s into just any man more so I want one that’ll treat me with respect and at outmost love. I never really thought for a second that the man of my dreams would happen to be at this very annual ball. My parents organised this event for me to at least find someone acceptable. “What if I never find someone papa” I asked with worry “don’t you worry my dear y/n you will find someone” my father wraps his arm around mine. The women at this ball seemed to be very pretty and could attend any prince. I always dreamed of having a prince ask me to dance.
The ladies wore all sorts of costumes, feathers, streamers, and ribbons. They were all hoping for the same thing, a chance of finding a respectful husband. I was probably one of the most plain looking here, I wore an ordinary dress with feathers coming down my face and ribbons tied in the back of my hair. I didn’t think anyone would’ve chosen me that was until he appeared, a handsome young man with quite the attire. “Excuse sir may I dance with your daughter” The man asked my father.
“I would love to oh papa please” I pleaded as he seemed rather eager “oh very well if he is high of ranking, we shall allow you to wed this man”. “Come y/n our dance awaits” he was rather eager to get his way with y/n into her heart.
“My name milady is Fitzwilliam Darcy; you may call me Mr Darcy” he kissed her hand “oh my that sounds like a rather dashing name” y/n smiled. He couldn’t wait to see the girls outcome; he was infatuated by her appearance. She wasn’t terrible looking, and her personality was amazing. Mr Darcy looked at y/n with dreamy eyes “you have such pretty eyes y/n, may I ask something miss y/n”.
“Of course, Mr Darcy” I nodded “would you marry me”. This happened so fast it seemed too good to be true. “Yes, oh yes Mr Darcy” I smiled widely however Mr Darcy held something against the lower class.
“Very well then we shall arrange it over the next couple of days” Mr Darcy left and eventually talked to my father. The next couple of days after were quite beautiful really, never would I have thought a man would want to marry me.
Chapter 2:
Tumblr media
I was sitting down having a cup of tea enjoying the peacefulness around me with a soon to be husband. As I was about to read, I heard a knock on the door, it seemed rather unusual to have a man around at this hour. “Goodness who might that be” I got up to reach the door, it seemed Mr Darcy didn’t tell me about his guest. “Hello sir” I smiled shyly “good evening mam” a man within his 30s greeted me. “I didn’t know Mr Darcy expected guests” the man kept staring at me “well sir I’m about to have tea feel free to sit down”.
The man came up to me and kissed my hand “the honour is mine milady”. I guided the man within the room, he was quite pleased with me. He was known to be cold and rather unromantic, however I thought otherwise. “Milady you have quite a remarkable beauty” he smiled “I’m sure you’ve got a fine husband” before y/n admitted “well I don’t yet but I will very soon”. “Right, I actually came by to ask Mr Darcy something but now I have a new request” The man grabs my hands “will you miss y/n be my bride”. I blushed he was certainly older but even then, he was handsome.
“Forgive me but I’m supposed to be marrying Mr Darcy” I looked down however he came up and gently placed his lips on mine “I understand but it’s not too late to change all you have to do is be mine”.
“I do have a higher ranking after all, I’m sure your father may approve” I stood there stunned. Suddenly that’s when Mr Darcy came in the room “y/n is everything alright, I assume you’re here to see me” the man grabbed my shoulders pulling me back.
“Indeed, however I shall take my leave farewell Mr and Mrs Darcy” Colonel Bradon took his coat and headed out the door. I watched as the man left, he was fairly odd he was seen as cold but with me he was soft.
Chapter 3:
Tumblr media
I was wearing a gown of white, and my hair was tide up. I had no intention to become sad as this was the happiest day. Someone opened the door to my room until my eyes saw “Colonel Bradon what are you doing here” I questioned. “I had to see you y/n, I couldn’t let you go, and I beg of you don’t marry that man” Bradon knelt down grabbing my hand “you should be with someone of my ranking”.
“Mr Bradon, I chose to marry Mr Darcy I love him you see” I seemed quite surprised as to why this man broke in. “very well I won’t hold a grudge, but I must confess I’m in love with you”. He came up to my lips and gently planted his on mine, a kiss was shared between us another man’s bride and a Colonel.
“I bid you farewell soon to be Mrs Darcy” before I came up and whispered, “If Mr Darcy wasn’t here, I would have married you”. My heart pounded as he was suddenly leaving, I couldn’t stop him my heart belonged to Mr Darcy, but I ached for Colonel Bradon too. My wedding was about to begin as my father walked in “come it’s time”. I walked with him down the isle to see Mr Darcy at the end. I could see in the very distance the Colonel watching from afar as his beloved was about to marry off with some rich man.
I closed my eyes and whispered “I’m sorry” I looked towards Mr Darcy as we both shared a kiss.
A bride that fell in love with a rich man and the Colonel that fell in love with the bride.
Anyways that's all I have for now:
Obsessed
Dsmp Fanfic. Wilbur Soot x Spider Reader
Pt2
========================================
Spider Y/N from my series, Hybrid Y/N, is obviously obsessed with Wilbur, or at least I think is obvious.
TW: Yandere Vibes, Stalking, Manipulation, minor language warning.
Wilbur sat still, holding his breath as he heard the foots steps of another being, stalking around the woods, looking for him, tears began to well up in his eyes, still, his crys were muffled however as he did not want to get caught but it was way to late, Y/N knew where Wilbur was hiding, they were just toying with him at this point, calling out his name, walking very close to where he was hiding then slowly backing away, repeating the process, over and over.
Wilbur heard the footsteps slowly disappear and he made a dash for it, but he wasn't going to make it far as Y/N was right behind him. Using his speed against him, they laid out a set of easy tricks for him which were all based on adrenalin, he quickly noticed to pattern of jumps but nobody said it was a pattern, soon enough he tripped, falling to the ground hard, hitting a rock on the fall down, with them waiting for him.
"You put up a lot longer then I thought you would. But here's some advice for next time, try not crying, it makes you look weak." They said, crouching down to say it to his face.
"Next, next time?" Wibur said, weakly, like he was about to faint.
"What, you didn't think we were just going to stop, after the fun we had? Yeah, there is definitely a next time." You said, caressing Wilbur's face with one hand while the other was taking out Wilbur's axe and put it next to him. "I'll see you later, love." You whispered in his ear, Wilbur let out a whimper, as you let go of him, head dropping to face his axe.
=============================================
Wilbur had been more paranoid then usual, even hearing footsteps made him shiver, just dreading the thought of them coming out of nowhere.
After all he was pretty scared of Y/N, I mean now he can say he had first hand experience with a giant ass spider, and even the sight of spiders make most people uncomfortable, you can just imagine a giant spider with human like features, the nightmare fuel.
Soon Tommy and Fundy caught on, he might be able hide it from Quackity and Awesamdude, but he can't hide it from the two people he spent most of his life with him, they can tell when somethings up.
Although Tommy took the 'I see you're in pain but I won't expect you to tell me' route, Fundy took the more 'Tell me now' sort of thing but neither of them worked, but that was expected, he was a secret keeper not a secret teller.
Later that night Wilbur woke in a place so very familiar to him but he couldn't quite put his finger on it, until he saw a rock dried with blood, a rock so similar to him, his heart began beating faster you could imagine, the words 'Next Time' rang though his ears as he heard footsteps of another out of world being walking slowly towards him.
But just like that, he woke again but this time, tied up in a cave from the ceiling, covered in webs, only now it was quiet, mysterious, dark and damp. After a moment of realisation, he began to struggle, he wasn't going to go though that hell again, he wasn't going to cry, he wasn't going to make the same mistakes twice. The rope dug into his wrists as he pulled and twisted, try to free himself but the try was for nothing when childish laughter was heard. He stiffen up, holding his breath, squeezing his eyes shut.
He felt a hand caress his cheek, a cold breath going down his neck. "See, Wilbur, there is always a next time." A voice said, Wilbur rephrased from saying anything to not anger them. "Wilby?" His eyes shot open after hearing that name.
"Don't call me Wilby!" He screamed, throwing his head back to face Y/N. Letting out a small laugh, Y/N, retreated their hand from Wilbur's cheek, letting a hum slip from their lips, smile creeping onto their lips. "What is fuck wrong with you!" Again, screaming his lungs out, letting a tear fall, his facad dropping for only a moment before turning back into his normal self. Y/N wiped the tear away from his cheek.
"You just don't learn, do you, Wilbur Soot?" They said, grabbing a small blade, cutting Wibur free from the restraints, making him fall to his knees. "I'll give you to the count of 10." They said, Wilbur looked up at Y/N with a more then confused expression. "You have until the count 10 to find your way out, if you do, which I doubt," They laughed, looking down at the man. "I'll let you live in peace forever, alone." Smiling down on him.
"But of course if you don't, you get to live in peace." They crouched down to see Wilbur's face, which was full of confusion and thankfulness. In his head he was only thinking about them and what kind of sick joke this is. "With me, of course." They said with a sickly sweet smile and soft voice.
"What!" Wilbur screamed, scrambling to his feet.
"Oh and don't try and mine your way out, I have all of your tools so I wouldn't try it." Wilbur took a breath, before dashing off. "Hey! I didn't start counting!" Whatever, they thought before starting the count down.
My Prince (6 - final)
Pairing: Minghao x reader
Genre: fluff/(angst)
Summary: Life is not exactly easy being the royal gardeners’ daughter but at least it’s simple. When you’re suddenly called upon to serve as the prince’s personal servant, things get a little more than complicated, especially considering the secret history you and the prince share.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Warnings: general angstiness, a bit of a slow burn, very romantic, very soft, the fact that this will most likely become a long series cause I have no chill
Word Count: 6.5K
Author’s Note:
This final chapter finally fulfills the premise that this is in fact fluff. I promise I’m done breaking your hearts now, woohoo!
My Prince has grown so near and dear to my heart. I don’t usually write long fanfics so this was really quite special. I know I might sound overly dramatic or corny to some of you (and that’s okay). It’s just, I try to be intentional with everything I do. That’s why I wanted to do this right. That’s why I’ve gotten so attached. That’s why it’s taken me forever to finish as well probably haha!
This story is far from perfect. There are countless things that I would have liked to sculpt out more... but I think for that to have happened this would have to become a full on novel and that’s not what this was ever meant to be, so I’ve got to let go of those thoughts and just send it out into the world as it is.
In any case, I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed reading this story as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. As always, please let me know what you think. As a writer, any type of feedback makes my heart flutter~
Thank you for all the love and support ♥
You fell to the floor, your shriek buried in the chaos that surrounded you. There was so much noise so suddenly and none of it sounded good. Panicked, you raised your head to see the entrance to the room had been broken wide open and soldiers in silver and black attire were pouring in, brandishing swords, fire and crossbows. Yientan. Another cry left your lips as you scrambled backwards until you hit the wall behind you. They were here. They must have found out about the wedding and wanted to stop it before a legend could take away their power.
Strong hands grabbed you by the collar and you screamed out for help. You struggled in your attempt to pry the stranger off of you until you noticed the face that belonged to it.
“Come on!” Minghao ordered, dragging you up. He took your hand and set off at a sprint, leaving behind the bulk of the commotion. You could hear banging and screaming from other directions as well though. They must have the whole castle surrounded. Luckily Minghao knew all the secret, little passages attackers tended to overlook. It didn’t take long for you to realize where he was taking you. Before you could come to your senses, you were dragged through the heavy doors to Minghao’s private chambers and sat onto his bed.
“Stay here,” he said, kneeling at your side, clasping your palms in your lap, “don’t leave until it’s all over.” He got up and turned to leave.
“Wait!” you called, stopping him midway, “you can’t go out there!”
“I have to,” he replied stone faced.
“No!” Now it was you holding onto him. “Please don’t—” Your fingers dug into his robes with desperation.
“I have a responsibility,” he said, “I have to go—”
“Then I’m coming too,” you cut in but he shook his head.
“You can’t help,” he explained, “I can so I’m going.” He eyed you sternly for a few more seconds before softening. He sighed, brushing his hand over your cheek lovingly and finally saying, “do not follow me.”
“Hao, please,” you called as he pulled away. You ran to him just in time to keep him from shutting the door behind him entirely. Only a sliver of his face was visible in the gap.
“Stay safe,” he said, before vanishing.
In stunned silence you let the doors fall shut. You walked over to the bed and sat down because your legs felt shaky and your head dizzyingly light. Outside, the uproar continued to grow but Minghao had told you to stay. Your heart ached. It pulled and tugged at you, trying to get you to move but you couldn’t. You didn’t want to disappoint him. Your fingers wrapped around one of the silk pillows on his bed. Closing your eyes, you hugged the thing close. It was all you could do not to cry. You just wanted everything to be okay— for everything to go back to normal. But you supposed none of Minghao’s life had ever really been normal.
A loud crashing sound made you jump. Some large piece of glass must have just shattered somewhere. You got up from the bed and began to pace the room. You clamped your hands over your ears in a miserable attempt to shut out the madness. Shutting your eyes didn’t help either. The itch to do something was growing unbearable. When a few minutes later a crack so deep it was like walls crumbling made the wooden floor tremble, you decided that enough was enough.
Head in overdrive, you went for the window. Its balcony was wide and looked out over the east side of the gardens. Tonight, there were only balls of fire within the dark. With a sickening lurch, you thought of your parents. Had they managed to hide or escape? Or had the attackers set flame to their house while they slept, trapping them in an excruciating death? Panicking, you went for the balcony ledge. Once your feet found balance, you grabbed onto the ornate pillars and started to climb. The plan seemed insane and yet, somehow you felt like the adventurous prince had definitely made this climb before. With that information fueling your confidence, you made it onto the roof above the prince’s chambers.
From here, you could see most of the castle and its grounds. A landscape of hills and valleys lay before you in the form of various curved rooftops. It would have been quite beautiful if it hadn’t been for the screams and the fire. You didn’t know what you were doing, really. You just wanted to know everything was going to be alright. Besides, you’d never forgive yourself if something happened to Minghao while you hid away like a coward.
How many people were fighting down there? How much of a chance did they stand against Yientan? And what could Minghao possibly do in all this? You didn’t even know if he knew how to fight.
Hunching down to a crouch, you made your way toward the center part of the castle. You looked down wherever you could, trying to get a feel of the situation. You saw two servant girls running on a deck as they cried. You saw men fighting in little courtyards, blood staining their clothes. You saw the wooden walkway towards the prince’s library collapse in flames. All of this roused an anger in you that surprised you. You’d never been the bravest of people— you still weren’t. But something was taking over you. It didn’t matter that this castle had been the bane of your existence for the past few months. The castle was under attack and you felt it as you’d feel an attack on your own family. You jumped from roof to roof, wracking your brain over a way to help.
Something sharp whooshed past you and you gasped. You were just in time to turn around and see the Yientan soldier standing on a nearby rooftop, reaching for another arrow. You ducked away towards a lower part of the roof, suddenly feeling the sharp sting on your cheek. There were hurried footsteps behind you and you were running out of options. Your rooftopped landscape came to an end as you happened upon the center courtyard of the castle, where more soldiers fought.
Hoping fiercely you weren’t making the wrong decision, you jumped.
The landing was harsh and you failed to stifle the noise that fought to come out your mouth. A man dressed in silver and black turned your way.
Wasting no time, hopped onto the deck and dashed into the nearest corridor, running as fast as you could in your clumsy servant’s robes. You were disoriented and scared but also determent to outrun the soldier. The long hallways of the castle once again felt like a devious maze, trying to suffocate you. You turned a corner and half-fell-half-jumped down a narrow flight of stairs. Ignoring the sting in your left leg, you rushed along a half open deck, ducked under a low archway that lead you down to the underbelly of the castle. Here, it was pitch black except for the spaced out torch light that hung from the walls. Luckily, you knew where you were going. This lowest level of the castle was used for storage and servant work deemed too dirty to be looked upon by the masters. You took a right through a small door, finding yourself in one of the washrooms the servants used. Just as the soldier’s feet hit the wood floor behind you, you opened one of the closets and grabbed as many fresh sheets as you possibly could, throwing them over him. You watched him struggle for only the fraction of a second before escaping through a side door. You knew exactly where to hide.
You reached your destination within a minute, lowering yourself into a little crawlspace underneath the floorboards of the broom closet servants used to hide from Tou Ma when she was angry. You’d only have to wait a few minutes for the soldier to give up and leave and then you’d be safe. You were about to close up the floorboards when you heard the most dreadful sound in the world.
It was Minghao. He was screaming.
Without a second thought, you burst back into the corridor. You followed the echo of the scream in your mind. It wasn’t far off. It was right here, under the castle. You tried every door, finding deserted room after deserted room, wondering why Minghao was even here, hidden away from all the commotion.
Aside from the soldier that had followed you down, you hadn’t seen a single person down this low. Perhaps you’d imagined it, you thought, just as you slid through another open door you knew lead to the pantry.
The most shocking thing was not that Minghao was there; it was that the emperor of Namin was there too.
Minghao was knelt over his father’s form, shuddering slightly.
“Hao,” you whispered as you approached, an awkward feeling settling in your stomach. Something was very wrong. Tentatively, you knelt down beside the prince, gasping when you saw the blood. Panicked, you looked down, now noticing the dark trail on the floorboards.
“What— what happened?” you stammered. Minghao hadn’t acknowledged you yet. He was doubled over, tears falling down onto his father’s chest.
“Don’t leave me.” His voice was so thick with emotion the words were barely audible.
You knew the emperor wouldn’t reply.
“Please, father,” Minghao whimpered.
You’d never seen him like this; torn apart like an old book. Afraid of making things worse, you sat by and waited. The war outside didn’t matter now. You allowed his sobs to turn to quiet slowly.
When they had, Minghao straightened his back and looked at you. His face was red and blotchy. The pain in his eyes made you want to wrap your heart around him.
“He got shot,” he said at last. His hand reached out for yours and you took it, surprised at the tightness of his fingers around you.
“I found him back in the celebration hall I— I didn’t know what to do. I just knew I couldn’t let Yientan have him so I tried to find a place to hide him but by the time I got here he was barely breathing and—” fresh tears burned in his eyes, “he just— I can’t do this without him I can’t—”
“Hao— ” you started just as a creak in the floorboards made you both jump.
Over a dozen people shuffled into the room, each person looking more perplexed than the next at the sight of Minghao and the emperor. You blinked in surprise at the appearances of the Zhong family, a bit battered and stunned-looking but otherwise fine. Last to enter the room was Tou Ma. Her face paint had smudged, there was blood at her temple and her robe was ripped at the sleeve.
“Stay back, girls,” she said with a voice just as stern as ever before coming over. Her face turned grim the moment she got on her knees and took in the sight. Her eyes widened, her nostrils flared and her thin lips parted. She took a few moments to regain her calm. Gently, she flattened out a crinkle in her robe as she cleared her voice at last.
“My prince,” she spoke solemnly, “from the heart of Namin, I offer my deepest condolences.”
Minghao continued to stare down at his father’s chest.
“Tomorrow we mourn the end of the era— tonight—” she paused, her wrinkles tugging into a frown, “tonight lies in your hands.”
The words hung in the dusty storage room air, settling over the people within it, slowly, like bits of falling snow.
“My prince?” Tou Ma said and her voice was softer than you’d ever heard it.
Minghao hadn’t moved an inch. You couldn’t tell what he was thinking either.
Strands of messed up hair hung in front of his face as he looked down at the emperor. You knew Minghao understood what Tou Ma had implied. Now that the emperor was dead, Minghao was automatically in charge. It was time for him to fulfill his prophecy and become the legend he was destined to be. Except that Tou Ma hadn’t said it like that exactly. She’d left the decision up to him. Tonight lies in your hands. Somehow, you felt like the head servant understood the pressure that weighed on the prince. She’d left the course of action open so that, should he choose to do so, Minghao could hide away with the rest of the castle’s residents. Should he choose to do so, he could surrender to Yientan. It was up to Minghao to decide his fate, not some legend assigned at birth.
Finally, Minghao looked up at Tou Ma.
“My mother,” he said, “is she safe?”
“Of course, my prince,” Tou Ma replied at once, “she was my first priority. I sent her through the royal passage behind the west room tapestry before bringing others to safety. She must have reached the safe house by now.”
Minghao nodded. “Thank you.” He sat there, thinking for a few more seconds before he stood up.
“I’m going out there. Everyone else stay here.” His voice was monotone, matter-of-fact. “I have to speak to the emperor of Yientan and put a stop to this.”
No one spoke as he turned to leave the room. Even you were too shocked to speak. It was only after he’d left the room that you found the strength to move.
“Silly girl,” Tou Ma said, her voice sharp once more as she grabbed hold of your wrist, “this is the last time I tell you to stay away from him.”
You looked the head servant dead in the eye.
“Then this will be the last time I defy you,” you answered, breaking free from her grasp and running out of the room.
You caught up with Minghao halfway up the stairs. You tugged at his sleeve and called his name, softly, inquiringly. He looked back at you, looking apologetic.
“I’d never forgive myself if anything happened to you,” he said quietly, “you’re already hurt.” His eyes went to your cheek, where the sting of the arrow still lingered.
You sighed. “And I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything happened to you.” You took his hand. “Hao, please,” you went on, “whatever happens, let’s do it together.”
Slowly, a smile formed on the new emperor’s lips. It failed to erase the pain in his reddened eyes but rather coated them in a temporary haze. His fingers tightened around yours and he whispered, “okay.”
*
“Where are we going?” you asked as you tiptoed through the castle, slipping from shadow to shadow.
“I know where he is,” Minghao replied.
You knew he was talking about the emperor of Yientan. You had no idea what he looked like but you’d overheard plenty of conversations about him during your time in the castle. He was a fierce ruler and a strong man of combat.
“Wait, you’re not going to fight him, are you?”
“No,” he replied, “I’m going to talk to him.”
The throne room looked smaller than usual. A pillar had fallen, dust and debris littered the usually shiny hardwood and on the golden throne sat, not Xu Yilan, but a younger-looking man. He was broad-shouldered and his dark hair fell in a single braid down to his waist. His black and silver armor was still spotless aside from the couple droplets of red that had splashed onto his chest. You almost couldn’t believe he was an emperor and not a war general. Xu Yilan had surely never fought like this. Judging by the tenacity in his eyes, he was enjoying this. Upon noticing Minghao he raised himself from the throne, eyes narrowing.
“Emperor Wu,” Minghao spoke up as he walked to the center of the room.
You decided to stay in the shadows for now. It was better for the Yientan leader not to know a second person was in the room.
“My father, Xu Yilan, is dead by your men’s hands.”
You had no idea how Minghao was keeping his emotions at bay but it was clearly a good thing. The man on the platform drew back, his eyes going wide.
“You,” he said in a gravely voice, “you are Xu Minghao?” He spoke loud and clear but was unable to hide his uneasiness. It was in the way he stood, overly square, and in the stark way his eyes stared ahead.
“I am,” Minghao said, “and I want you to listen to me for a moment.”
Silence. This was good.
“I do not want to fight you,” he went on, “I just want to talk. I want to restore the balance between Namin and Yientan.” He took a deep breath. “I want Yientan to give us back the highlands.”
A low yet booming laughter filled the empty throne room.
“You expect us to just give you back the highlands?” the emperor scoffed, “and what will Yientan receive in return?”
You watched Minghao as a silence trickled into the air. He was completely still, his mind probably racing like a warhorse.
“In return,” he said at last, his voice deep yet clear, “Yientan will be spared the dragon’s wrath.”
You could see the fear spring into the emperor’s eyes.
“You lie, young man,” he said, though it was obvious Minghao’s words had derailed him a bit. Slowly, the man unsheathed a long sword and pointed it at Minghao.
“There is no dragon,” he spat, starting to walk down the platform, “where is your dragon now, huh? Did it come when our people charged your gates? No, it did not.”
Minghao’s chest heaved but he stood his ground. You couldn’t understand how he stayed so calm. He had nothing to defend himself with.
“Did it come when your father was struck down by one of my men?” emperor Wu continued as he approached, “it did not.”
This was all wrong, you thought, panic taking over you.
“Up on the roof of this broken palace, a golden dragon stands, yes,” the emperor said, a wicked smile spreading onto his lips. He was getting too close.
“It is nothing but a symbol of wealth, a meaningless decoration!”
Minghao stood as a statue, defiant.
“It could not save your father, nor your people,” he grinned, “and it surely won’t save you.”
“Stop!” you screamed, breaking away from your hiding spot. Both men turned their heads in surprise, a moment you took to jump in between them, arms out, shielding Minghao from his attacker.
“Don’t hurt him, please!” you cried. You knew you were making foolish decisions but there wasn’t a single cell in your body capable of doing anything else in that moment.
Pain shot through your arm as general Wu grabbed hold of you.
“No!” Minghao yelled, immediately jumping for the general’s second arm in an attempt to tear the sword from his grasp. Your head spun as you were tugged around, the three of you in an awkward tangle until you heard a gasp that could only be Minghao’s. You watched him fall to the floor, clutching his side, where the fabric of his shirt started to color red.
You wanted to scream but before any sound had the chance to leave your lips, the whole room began to shake.
Emperor Wu backed towards the wall, dragging you with him and that’s when you heard it. An ear-piercing cry coming from somewhere up above. The ceiling cracked and gave away right where Minghao crouched. You cried out his name in a desperate attempt to save him when you realized the falling debris wasn’t crushing him. Instead, it turned to dust mid-fall, scattering over the floor like sand on a windy day.
Emperor Wu gave a startled shriek behind you. A massive creature burst through the broken ceiling with another deafening cry. It looked like a giant, glimmering snake with horns. Its fanged mouth was the size of two grown men and its golden scales reflected the devastation in the room. It curled itself around Minhao, who was still on hands and knees on the floor, obscuring him from view. “It— it’s— it can’t be!” the man behind you stuttered, shivering all over. You took the opportunity to yank yourself from his grasp.
The dragon let out a large huff and steam released from its dinner-plate-sized nostrils. You couldn’t help but feel a trickle of fear pulse through you as you approached the beast. But you had to trust.
The dragon’s body uncurled once more, revealing Minghao. He was standing; even more, he looked revitalized. A determent look had taken over his face. He stepped in front of the dragon and addressed the cowering emperor.
“As I said before,” he said, his voice strong and demanding now, “I don’t want to fight. I don’t want this war. Yientan and Namin can live in peace. Even better, we can make each other stronger.” He glanced at you and his eyes filled with warmth. “I know we are different but Namin will no longer fear those differences. It is by cooperating that we will learn and grow—”
The emperor scoffed. “And to achieve this peace of yours,” he grumbled, “I assume you want the highlands back?”
“They belong to Namin,” Minhao replied calmly.
“And what’s next?” emperor Wu went on, his pitch rising, “you’ll invade us with your big dragon protector and we’ll have to give up everything?!”
“No.” Minghao shook his head. “Namin doesn’t need any more. Just the highlands and harmony with Yientan. If you promise me these things, emperor Wu, this dragon will never be used for violence. It too can be a symbol of peace.”
The emperor of Yientan stood there, fighting a fight within himself. All you could do was wait. Minghao didn’t look scared anymore though. The dragon had taken his fear. The cold mask had vanished as well, leaving his eyes exactly the way you remembered them from years ago; kind, curious, inviting. Years of pressure had fallen off of his shoulders, allowing him to stand up straight and confident.
His gaze went to you for a moment and he reached out his hand.
Heart swelling with joy, you took it, feeling more than ever before, like you belonged.
Emperor Wu observed all of this with pain in his eyes. You still had no idea what the man was thinking but you felt safer now, so close to Minghao.
“Alright,” he said finally, starting to walk towards you, “you win, little emperor.” He shook his head in defeat. “You’ve still got a lot to learn about ruling and, mark my words, you will regret the things you’ve said today— all this talk about peace and harmony—” he stopped just a couple feet away from Minghao, “but at least for now, Yientan will bow to Namin.” He bent over into a ninety degree bow and Minghao let show just the tiniest smile. He was proud— and he should have been. You squeezed into his hand and felt him squeeze back when, all of a sudden, a lot of things happened.
Emperor Wu raised himself, drawing from a loop in his belt a tiny dagger and driving it into Minghao’s chest. At the same time, the dragon behind you let out a magnificent roar as it charged at Yientan’s emperor, knocking the breath right out of his lungs. All this time, you stood, frozen to the spot in complete and utter shock.
When you felt Minhao’s hand slip from yours, you cried out his name. You caught him as he staggered and the two of you landed with a soft thud on the floor. Panicked, your hands dove to his chest, looking for the stab wound as tears began to stream down your cheeks.
“Hey,” you heard someone say softly, vaguely but you didn’t have time now. You had to stop the bleeding.
Something took hold of your chin, lifting it. It was Minghao. He was smiling the sweetest smile and you didn’t understand.
“I’m okay,” he said, pulling aside his robes, revealing nothing but a light cut along his ribcage.
“Hao,” you sniffled as his thumb came to wipe away some of your tears.
“I’m okay,” he said again, nodding softly.
And so all the adrenaline fled your body. Without a second thought, you flung your arms around his neck and hugged him close. It was a hug such as you’d shared when you were children; one made of pure happiness. His arms wrapped around you, holding you close. You were still crying, sort of, but you were sure it was the good kind of crying.
A gentle hand landed on top of your head, patting it in a soothing manner. You took it all in, the feel of him, his scent, the way his heart beat against yours.
“Everything is gonna be alright now, right?” you mumbled into his chest.
You felt him sigh.
“I think so.”
*
The following days were some of the strangest of your entire life.
The emperor of Yientan wasn’t dead. The dragon had hit him pretty bad but it had ultimately left the decision up to Minghao. Minghao, who of course decided to have the foreign emperor nursed back to health by Namin’s finest doctors. He still believed that peace between the two lands was possible.
You and Minghao, along with all remaining castle staff, had temporarily moved into the castle gardens. Most of the garden staff huts had apparently been spared from the fight. It wasn’t spacious by any means, but it was enough for the time being.
Not that you didn’t have any other options.
News of the attack and especially the return of the dragon had spread like wildfire through the cities and towns of Namin. Wealthy traders and investors offered their own residences in honor of the new legendary emperor but Minghao had turned them all down. He said he wanted to help rebuild the castle.
“Besides, I don’t know if I’m ready to face them yet.” Minghao’s face was contemplative as you two sat overlooking the rose garden from a hilltop.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
He leaned back onto his hands. “I don’t know,” he said, “I’m not ready to be their legend, truly this time. How am I supposed to— after my father.” He shook his head. “I’m no better than him. He was just a man and so am I.”
Up in the sky, the golden dragon trailed patterns in the afternoon clouds. It had fluttered around the gardens all day; a beacon of hope.
“I know I have a job to do but—” he said finally, “I still can’t help but feel like I’m losing something precious.”
You nodded, leaning your head onto his shoulder. “Things will be more complicated,” you admitted. It was true. You didn’t want to sugarcoat that for him. However, you weren’t worried.
“But you won’t be doing any of it alone.”
You could feel him start to smile as his arm slid around your shoulder.
“Thank you,” he said.
“Your majesty,” a tense voice said.
It was Tou Ma. You were surprised to find you were happy to see her.
“We have received word from your mother. She will be coming home in a few days. The Zhong family meanwhile have arrived home this morning. They are well.”
Minghao nodded, his face stony but a lot going on behind his eyes.
“Should I send word back?”
“No,” Minghao was quick to answer but then he caught himself, “I think I’ll write Zhong Mei and her parents a letter myself. They deserve that.” He was frowning to himself now. “And tell my mother I’m sorry— and can’t wait for her arrival.”
“I will,” Tou Ma said solemnly, her eyes trailing off. She was searching for words.
“What is it?” Minghao questioned.
Tou Ma pursed her lips.
“He is awake.”
*
You followed Minghao to one of the larger huts in the garden, where emperor Wu was being treated. The room was bare, save for a bed and a night stand upon which stood a bowl of water and a clean cloth. A middle-aged lady in simple blue robes stood by his bed. The moment she noticed Minghao, she fell into a deep bow.
“That’s alright,” Minghao said, taking her hands as she rose, “thank you for your amazing work.”
The woman went red in the face but smiled brightly back at him.
The emperor of Yientan still suffered a few bruises, one below his left eye. You couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy around him so you watched Minghao approach from a distance.
“How are you feeling?” he asked the man in the bed.
Emperor Wu let out a heavy sigh as his eyes landed on Minghao.
“I’ve been better,” he said.
There was a silence you weren’t sure of the meaning of. Minghao seemed to be waiting.
“I’ve sat here for a while now, you know,” he went on, “been awake since sometime last night— in and out of it most likely— but I’ve been thinking.”
The man in the bed looked nothing like he had during the battle. He’d been full of fire then. Now, he had a depleted look about him.
“Do you know what I was thinking?”
Minghao shook his head softly.
To your surprise, the emperor of Yientan let out a chuckle. Maybe he really had suffered brain damage after all.
“I was thinking, why am I in this comfortable bed?” he snickered lowly, “I thought I might have died. Thought it might be the afterlife. But then I was informed of your decision to let me live. To let me go.” His face went sad suddenly, brows furrowed. He looked almost silly.
“I realized I admire you, your majesty. You chose to spare the life of the man who invaded your land and took it for his own, the man responsible for your father’s death, the man that might have been responsible for your own death—” he let out another chuckle. “I thought you must be either mad or genius— I, um— I’m still not truly certain which one it is but I can say one thing for sure: you’ve got more bravery in that little body of yours than I’ve seen in any ruler of my lifetime. And I have no choice but to respect that.”
You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Your hands were anxiously clutched in front of your chest.
“Thank you, your majesty,” Minghao said, his shoulders relaxing a bit.
Emperor Wu raised himself in the bed, took the cloth from the nightstand and wiped his face with it. When his face was revealed once more, he was smiling.
“Alright,” he said, looking up at Minghao, “let’s get this over with. Let’s talk.”
*
This is how Namin was restored. The highlands were returned and multiple treaties were formed between Namin and Yientan, promising peace and collaboration for all time to come.
Minghao hugged his mother close a few nights later, and a ceremony was held for the death of Xu Yilan. It was a sombre meeting in a nearby temple, the only other attendees aside from direct family the thousands of fireflies that lit up the air.
Then, finally, it was time to go public with everything that had happened. The coming of the legend emperor had to be celebrated and the people of Namin were not going to let that opportunity go to waste. Banners were raised, fireworks set off, as a magnificent parade made its way through the capital.
Throughout all this, you found yourself completely overwhelmed, not only because so much was happening at once, but also because Minghao wanted you to be a part of it all.
“Are you alright?” Minghao whispered into your ear.
You hardly knew how to respond to that. You were sitting in a luxurious golden carriage, wearing the most beautiful silk you’d ever laid eyes on. Layers of pale pinks and greens, adorned with gold thread fell from your shoulders. Your hair had been elegantly put together by Tou Ma herself that morning, with flowers and ribbons she’d handpicked for you. If all that wasn’t enough to make your heart do cartwheels, Minghao, the new emperor of Namin sat beside you, holding your hand while he waved at the people cheering. And there were a lot of people around you. It seemed as if all of Namin had come out to watch the procession. You weren’t as confident as Minghao, darting your hand up occasionally to wave at the public, only to change your mind the next second and put it back down.
“I’m terrified,” you replied, “ecstatic and overjoyed and terrified.”
“That sounds about right,” he said, grinning, “but don’t worry, we’ll be there soon.”
Surely enough, the procession halted in the main square of the capital. A tall platform had been put up in the center of it. As you’d expected, your carriage opened its doors right beside it. It was time for Minghao to give his speech. With one last smile in your direction he left for the platform. You watched him breath in and out, visibly shaking the nerves out of his body before he began.
“People of Namin,” he spoke loud and clear, “in the last week, a lot of things have happened and rumors have run rampant. I believe you all deserve to know exactly what has happened at the castle and what this means for the future of Namin.”
You looked in complete awe and adoration, as Minghao explained the events of the past weeks and even before that; the protests, the arrival of the Zhong family and their plans, the attack, death of Xu Yilan and finally, the legend of the dragon.
“It is true,” Minghao said, “the dragon lives once more.”
Just then, a bright glimmer fell all over the square and the people squinted upwards to see the golden dragon fly overhead.
“It will protect Namin for as long as I live and hopefully longer.”
The crowd erupted in jubilant cheers. Minghao took this opportunity to look back at you. You were suddenly highly aware of the ridiculously wide grin that had been plastered on your face ever since he’d begun his speech. He returned it gladly and, to your surprise, beckoned you to join him onto the platform.
Your eyes went the size of daisies as you vigorously shook your head at him. He only smiled kindly at you and turned back around as the commotion had died down mostly.
“My dear people, it has been a glorious day!” he yelled  “but I have one more announcement to make.”
This turned the whole crowd silent.
“Throughout the challenges of the past week I have had to be strong. In order for the dragon to arise, I’ve had to be strong. I’m the true leader, I’m Namin’s hope, I am a legend come to life— I’ve been hearing these types of statements all around and I would like to say that, while your praise is appreciated, I fear I’m not entirely deserving—”
“There’s a reason I’ve been able to be strong. There’s a reason I’ve been able to keep my head on the right track, there’s a reason I feel like I can be a worthy leader to you all and it is a reason entirely outside of myself.”
He turned back around to face you. Your face went hot when you realized he was actually coming down to fetch you. He took your hand, gave you the most loving smile and pulled you up.
Everything looked simultaneously tiny and overwhelming from up on the platform. Luckily you had Minghao holding onto your hand or you for sure would’ve fainted.
“I can be the leader I am because of this woman,” he said, “she has been the one thing that’s grounded me in all of this and if it hadn’t been for her, I’m not sure I’d be standing here making this speech today.”
Your heart was pounding out of control and you felt lightheaded. You were grateful when Minghao’s arm slid around your waist and steadied you.
“On this special day, we celebrate the resilience and rebirth of Namin,” Minghao stated confidently, “but I would also like to use this day to profess my undying love for the girl standing beside me.”
A sea of murmurs welled up from the crowd. Minghao came to face you again and suddenly, he looked less like an emperor and more like the boy you’d always known.
“I’ve always loved you,” he said quietly, “it’s always been you.” His hand came to hold your face gently. “I know the life I lead from now on will be full of challenges and responsibilities, it will be a life in the spotlight, maybe—” he sighed, “maybe nothing like the life you’d imagined for yourself but—” he was really searching for words now, his eyes darting in all directions until they finally landed back on yours.
“If you’ll have me, I would love for you to share that life with me.”
It was as if a collection of fireworks set off inside of you, shooting from the top of your head all the way down to your toes, setting you aflame. It was an overload of feelings. You didn’t even notice the tear trickling down your cheek until Minghao wiped it away.
“So, will you?” he asked, looking like he might collapse from nerves as well now.
The smile burst free from its own accord as the reality of the situation finally sank in.
“Yes, of course!” you let out and your arms flung themselves around Minghao’s neck.
Now the people of Namin were really cheering, their noise like drums in your head as you embraced Minghao. Even when you broke apart the cheering didn’t stop; it only grew wilder as Minghao pressed his lips to yours.
In all your life you’d never thought this would be yours. Even as a child you’d known that Minghao, your playmate wasn’t to be wanted. He was different, above others, untouchable, and for years you’d struggled to come to terms with that grim fact. And yet here he was, in front of you and all of Namin, telling you he loved you. It was the beginning of a new era for Namin and it seemed that its residents were ready for change. And you were more than certain Minghao was the right person to lead the people with justice and, above all, love.
    "Y/N Y/L/N, 22, kidnapped in a club near the college campus while partying with her friends. Last seen at 1 AM, reported missing by her roommates when she didn't appear in all-day three hours ago," informed Garcia to the team while they were revising the case on the jet. "The New Haven PD is waiting for you at the police station."
    "Thank you, Garcia," thanked Hotch, but Garcia continued to talk.
    "There's something else you need to see."
    "What is it?" Questioned Morgan.
    "One of her roommates, Sandy Melville, has a channel where she posts videos of her life in college and with roommates. And Y/N appears in all of them."
    "You think this could be the work of a stalker?" Asked JJ looking at Garcia.
    "Someone could've watched Y/N in the background of the videos and developed a crush on her," said Emily.
    "Not in the background," corrected Garcia, "she's the protagonist of the videos. Sandy followers love her, and I don't blame them."
    Garcia proceeded to show the team one of the videos of Sandy walking through the snow of New Haven. The three friends were on the sidewalk, and the camera was focused on you as you kicked the snow off to the street as you laughed.
     "Y/N you are going to slip and fall!" Exclaimed your other roommate, Liz, pointing the ice that was on the border of the sidewalk. You continued to laugh.
     "Don't be such a drama queen, Liz, and enjoy the snow!" You yelled with a smile. "Kindness is like snow ─ it beautifies everything it covers."
    "Kahlil Gibran," interrupted Spencer, surprising the team who haven't heard him talk in the entire trip. "It's a writer, he said that."
    "Don't be so poetic, Y/N!" Exclaimed Sandy.
    "Kahlil Gibran said it, and I live for those words," you replied. The camera quickly turned to Liz.
    "She's crazy," said laughing before being hit with a snowball on the shoulder. "Y/N!"
    You simply laughed, and the video ended.
   "There are videos of their whole lives," commented Garcia. "Sandy recorded everything and posted online."
    Spencer was still staring at the frozen image of you laughing. Something about it had your complete attention.
    "Ok, JJ, I want you to make a press conference, and then, you and I will talk to the roommates and ask Sandy if she recorded something about the night of her disappearance. Morgan, Prentiss, go to the club, watch the security tapes, see if someone was looking at Y/N or talking to her. Reid, Dave, victimology, go to her apartment and learn everything you can about Y/N, including maybe what attracted the stalker to her. Garcia, check conversations, someone that has messaged her, that she blocked, calls, anything you can get, see if there is anything suspicious. We'll meet back at the station with everything we found."
    Spencer grabbed your picture from the file. It was your college ID photo, and you looked stunning. Your hair was curled, your eye makeup was bright, different from the one's he has seen. Yours made your eyes appear bigger and shinner, while your lipgloss made shine your pink lips.
-----------------------------------------------------
    Rossi and Reid walked through your room, staring at the details of your walls, your awards, your photographs. You are intelligent, your bookshelves are filled with different literature books that could explain your knowledge.
    "She speaks French," announced Rossi as he grabbed your French edition of Candide by Voltaire.
    "And Spanish," added Reid going through your notes in Spanish literature class. "She's smart."
    "She goes to an Ivy League School, we should've expected more than this," observed Rossi. "This is a clever, intelligent girl, she wouldn't leave with a stranger just like that, it doesn't make any sense."
    "Well, she was drunk," said Spencer. "She just finished finals, she's graduating with a Criminology Degree in two weeks and went to celebrate with her friends."
    "Finals are very stressful, and it was a college bar, so maybe she didn't have her defence mode on, she trusted the guy. Where is her dog?" Asked Rossi pointing the dog bed next in your corner.
    "With her roommate," Spencer replied. "It's not usually from a stalker to approach their object of desire without preparation, and a club is risky. Y/N had to know the guy and trusted him."
    "Or, she never saw him coming," whispered Rossi.
    "Do you think hhe attacked her from behind? It was a crowded club, someone must have seen it."
    "He could've put a knife on her back, asked her not to scream and walked her outside. She was drunk, so she was weak, she couldn't fight back. He had to know that. Y/N looks like a girl who can defend herself. Everything in this room screams confidence, her videos, her attitude, he had to kidnap her in her weakest moment."
    "For that, he had to know she would have her finals last week. What if we are not looking for someone who developt a crush through the internet videos, but rather someone who sees her every day?"
-----------------------------------------------------
    You slowly opened your eyes. The room was dark, with just one dash of light entering through a small window near the roof.
    You were in a basement.
    Your hands were tied over your head, your feet lifted from the ground only letting the tip of your tow to touch the cold dirt under you. You exhaled. Your eyes felt heavy to open. Blinking was hard because opening them again felt tiring.
    Your underneath t-shirt was filled was no longer red, your pants and sweater were missing, for some reason, your stomach hurt like hell.
    With all your strength, you look at it, having an idea what was it but being scared of it. You slowly focused your eyes on the red stain in your clothing and the cuts in your legs.
    You heard someone crying and took you a few seconds to realize it was you. You haven't sobbed in a while, in years maybe. It scared you. You were scared. All alone.
-----------------------------------------------------
    Spencer and Rossi entered the police station and walked towards the table where the team was sitting. The whole board was filled with your information, your class schedule, your contacts, your credit card information, your grades, your family members, everything that Garcia could get from your computer.
    "What did you find?" Asked Hotch to Reid.
    "She's intelligent, she speaks three languages, and her whole life screams confidence, "look at me". It doesn't make sense she would leave the club with a guy and not tell her friends before in case something happens to her."
    "We think her stalker is not someone who watches the videos, but someone she knows. A classmate, a teacher, someone that knew her well to affirm that she finished her finals yesterday, and that will go to a particular bar to celebrate with her friends."
    "There are at least five different college bars that Y/N and her friends frequented," added JJ as she remembered what your roommates told her. "How did the unsub know she will go to that bar exactly?"
    "Maybe he heard her. If Reid's theory that the unsub is a classmate, she could've said it in class and he listened."
   "Ok," interrupted Garcia, "I found three blocked accounts in Y/N social media of guys trying to flirt with her but coming to strong that maybe worried her, but none of them is remotely near her, and I checked their entire background."
    "We checked the security cameras and the bar receipts," announced Morgan as he and Prentiss entered. "Neither she nor her friends bought any drinks that night."
    "They were sober?" Questioned Spencer.
    "No, someone bought them for them. Maybe our unsub."
    "My dear super friends," interrupted Garcia appearing on the screen. "I was checking Sandy's phone like you told me, and she did record last night at the bar."
    "I thought she said she didn't remember."
    "Well, turns out she did. Check this out."
    The video was clearly terrible quality. Sandy was moving and dancing around, making it impossible for the camera to focus. When she stopped, the team could clearly see your silhouette as you drank what it appeared not to be your first shot of tequila.
    "Y/N! Y/N! I'm dying to know," said Sandy drunkenly. "What is your plan after graduating?"
    "Uhm," you whispered, trying to talk clearly. "The only thing I have available is the FBI."
    "Could you imagine," interrupted Liz between laughs, "Y/N with a gun?"
    "I would look incredibly hot with a gun, what are you talking about?" You joked between laughs. "I don't know what it's outside for me. All my life, I've had everything planned. Study, get good grades, repeat. It can be scary doing something different."
    "Oh, please," said Liz as she was falling next to you. You were quick to catch her and put her arm over your shoulder, "you are Y/N Y/L/N, I bet everyone wants you."
    "I am a man who does not exist for others."
    "Ayn Rand," murmured Spencer.
    "You are a woman," said Sandy.
    "It's from Ayn Rand, you guys are so drunk," you laughed before turning around. "Where the hell is the guy who bought these for us?"
    You looked through the bar but didn't find him.
    "Hey, girls, I'll be back in a sec, I'm gonna pay for the drinks," you told your friends with a tiny smile.
    "Wait, Y/N, let's dance," interrupted Sandy, grabbing your hand and dragging you to the dance floor.
    "Morgan, who was the guy who bought the drinks for them?" Interrogated Hotch and Morgan quickly went through the receipts of last night.
    "At least six people bought tequila shots last night. End of finals week."
    "Y/N felt the need to pay the drinks back," pointed out Spencer as he watched you danced on the screen. "Why would she do that?"
    "She felt bad because he bought drinks for all her friends but wasn't hanging out with them?" Proposed JJ.
    "Or, something attracted her of him," whispered Spencer before clicking one of the videos in Sandy's vlog. "I was looking at this video earlier. Sandy asked Y/N how her ideal guy look like. Maybe the stalker watched it and tried to mimic it."
    "Why were you watching that video, Reid?" Asked Emily, and he shook his head nervously.
    "Research... for the case... yeah. Here it is."
    "My ideal guy," you murmured as you played with your little dog on your bed. "He has to be smart, but not cocky smart, he has to be humble. I hate mystery, so he has to be direct with me, with what he wants, I like that. Maybe tall, handsome, not afraid to talk to me. I don't know, Sandy, someone that can catch my attention without even trying."
    Reid paused the video just in time to see your smile to the camera. You were so pretty.
    He had to find you alive, he had to meet you.
    "We don't have time for a profile. Garcia, check the security video and look for a tall, good looking man that bought tequila shots between 10:30 and 11."
    Garcia was quick enough to show the security footage in the screen, pausing just in time to show a man buying the shots and telling the bartender to send them towards a table. Your table.
    "Who is that?" Questioned JJ, and Derek was quick enough to check.
    "Baby girl, look for William Klaus, Gale Andrews, Damien Ace and Ricardo Montero and tell me which one looks like the guy at the bar."
    "Neither of them," she said.
    "Can he have used another person's tab?"
    "No, that would have involved other people to his concerns. He is meticulous, he doesn't leave a trail."
    "Did he pay in cash?" Asked JJ.
    "That many tequila shots? Who has that kind of money in hand? He had to use a credit card."
    "All of these kids go to private school. If he actually goes to college with them, he has money."
    "We are back to nothing. All of our eyewitnesses were drunk."
    "Except the bartender," pointed out Spencer. "He's gotta remember someone who paid in cash."
    "Ok, Morgan, Prentiss, go to the bar again and interview the bartender, ask for someone who paid for shots in cash. We will deliver the profile."
-----------------------------------------------------
    "The man we are looking for is white in his late teens and early twenties. Tall, and handsome, probably talks smartly and is nervous around people, traits that he learned by listening to Y/N description of an ideal man."
    "It is a student on campus. We denominate this unsub as a Love-Scorned stalker, he believes that Miss Y/L/N is madly in love with him. He has probably seen her sometimes giving him glances, or smiling, and thinking they were for him."
    "This type of unsub is extremely asocial, does not participate in scholar events, does not raise his hand in class, and is remarkably intelligent, enough to get into a private school."
    "This unsub is not a killer but will become one the second his fantasy seems interrupted. Maybe by the same Y/N who doesn't want to play along, there's no way to know how is he going to react with her. We trust that Y/N will realize that she needs to pretend to be in love with him to survive, but we can't be sure."
     "In case of his fantasy being blinded or interrupted, he can get really aggressive and possessive towards her. He's been dreaming to be with her for so long that her rejecting him is not an option."
     "Stalkers commonly killed their objective of desire. The time in which they do, variates in how the victim reacts to them."
    "That's why we need to find her as soon as possible. Ask her classmates, teachers, friends. Someone has to have listened to our unsub suspiciously talk about her, maybe in a way that made them uncomfortable. Our unsub can't manage what he says in public due to his weak social skills."
    "Thank you," finished Hotch, and the police department broke apart, going separate ways. "She's been missing 20 hours, let's find her as quick as possible." The team divided, but Hotch stopped Reid before he could walk away. "Reid, have Garcia found Y/N's parents?"
    "No, uhm, her mom died, and her dad abandoned them when she was little. Her aunt is on her way, though."
    "Ok, thank you."
-----------------------------------------------------
    "Dance," he ordered you, "I always loved your dancing. You danced for me a few weeks ago, remember."
    "It was a charity event for the school, Parker," you whispered. "I danced for everyone."
    "I'm not scared of you, ok? Do whatever you want. You want to kill me? Then do it, I'm tired."
    "I will never hurt you, Y/N."
    "Yes, you will. Stalkers always kill their object of desire, Parker, and you've been stalking me for a while, haven't you? You think I'm in love with you, don't you?"
    "Shut up," Parker whispered before you spit blood that you had in your mouth. "You are ruining this!"
    "What? Your fantasy? You aren't in love with me, Parker, you are in love with the idea of me. You don't know me."
    "I do... know you... I know you."
    "No, you don't. Just because you know at what time I leave for school, at what time I arrive home. Just because you know I walk my dog every afternoon and with who I hang out doesn't mean you know me. Parker, I'm more than a schedule, an object that you see walking through your binoculars. Just because you raped me and broke my arm doesn't mean you know my body. You can't love, Parker..."
    "Stop!"
    "... it's chemically impossible," you continued, "you don't feel love. You are missing one of the most beautiful feelings in the world, and it's not even your fault! You are a sociopath, and no matter how much you try, you will never know how the adrenaline of seeing someone across the room that you love feels like, you'll try to replicate it. You'll kill just to feel something, even if you don't want to."
    "Shut up! Shut your mouth!"
    "Kill me," you didn't even realize how you stuttered while saying those words. "It's the only way you are actually going to feel something. Kill me, because when you get in a mental home, the feeling of my blood running through your hands and skin is the only thing you are going to have, and you are never going to get it again. It's a drug that it's only going to work the first time. After you stab me with that knife, you are going to feel something for three seconds for the first time in your life, just so then, not feeling nothing at all for the rest of it. You must want it to be unique, right? Your first kill, probably your only one. So, light some candles, end my suffering... I'm not even going to feel it with the pain of my arm so who cares."
    Parker was staring at you, not moving, not knowing what to do, while you just look at him. You already knew that if you didn't get medical attention soon, the blood you are loosing for the cuts in your legs, and the pain from your broken arm were going to do the job for him, so you had nothing to lose. And making him spend his entire life in jail for murder was your goal.
    "Do it... kill me..."
-----------------------------------------------------
    "Ok, so I did some research and found out that Y/N was part of this dance marathon for a charity event where an anonymous guy donated three thousand dollars just so she would keep dancing," informed Garcia.
    "That's an enormous amount of money just for her to dance," observed Derek.
    "And that is not the creepiest part, I found the name of the donor, and it is Parker Edwards, he is an art and literature student, and please look at the last art assignment that he delivered for his final grade in finals week."
    Garcia showed them a gigantic portrait of you next to a creepy guy, not smiling, just staring deadly to the camera.
    "Well, that's definitely creepy," murmured Prentiss.
    "Do you have an address?" Asked Hotch.
    "House 365, 21st with Second Avenue."
    "Let's go."
-----------------------------------------------------
    "Y/N, I need you to open your eyes," you heard someone whisper to you, and you slowly did. "My name is Doctor Spencer Reid, I'm with the FBI."
     "He didn't kill me?" You questioned slowly. Your mouth was dry, and you couldn't feel your legs.
    "No, he didn't. Y/N, I need you to open your eyes, please." You nodded. He proceeded to untie you, and you let fall in his arms. "I got you, I got you," he mumbled. "Can you walk?" You glanced at him, for then to show him how you couldn't even put your feet straight.  "Sorry, stupid question, put your arm around me."
    "Not that arm, he broke it when he carried me in here." Spencer listened and changed sides, helping you to get out.
    As soon as you were outside, the smell was different. You were used to the smell of dirt and your own blood, that when the spring breeze of New Haven hit you, you couldn't help but to smile.
     "Would you join me in the ambulance?" You questioned, and he nodded. The paramedics got you inside and started plugging cables and hydrating you, but your eyes were just in Spencer. "You look young to be a doctor."
     "If I had a penny for every time I hear that," you chuckled. "How are you feeling?"
     "Like writing this in the experience box for my FBI academy application," you mumbled, now making him laugh. "I know that I'm covered in dirt and blood, and shampoo hasn't touched my hair in a while... but I'm actually pretty." He raised his eyebrows, noticing that the painkillers were taking effect. "Probably my legs look like the legs of a training object for ninjas with all of those cuts, but I'm a terrific dancer."
    "I know. I saw the videos that Sandy filmed. Of you dancing at the bar."
    "That's drunk. But sober, let me tell you, John Travolta got his inspiration for Pulp Fiction by me, true facts." He laughed. "Thank you for saving me."
    "It's my job, and it's going to be yours too."
    You chuckled.
    "You are cute, doctor," you mumbled before closing your eyes and being able to sleep for the first time in hours.
-----------------------------------------------------
    October arrived. It's been months since the kidnapping and arrest of Parker, and it was your first day in Virginia for the academy. You were nervous, now more than ever. What if you didn't have what it takes?
     You were completely cured, and the doctor freed you completely, and the first person you wanted to tell was Spencer.
     You and the doctor had been talking for months now, and he was everything you dreamed of. He was smart, funny, he paid attention to you, and even though you guys were just friends, you liked him.
    You liked him a lot.
    "This pile paperwork gets bigger every time I look at it," whispered Morgan staring at the tower. "I had plans tonight."
    While Derek complained, Reid finished his and gave them to Hotch, and Morgan felt that as a personal attack."
     "Please, tell people that if you disappear, I'm the prime suspect."
    "Hey, isn't that Y/N from the New Haven stalking case?" Asked Emily to Spencer, making him look towards the door where you were standing, looking at him.
     "Be right back," said the doctor standing up and walking towards you.
     "What was that?" Asked Morgan to Prentiss, but she had no idea.
     As soon as he was closer, he hugged you, and you felt safe immediately. You've only had seen him a few times since the hospital, so every time you guys reconnected, it was like you both grew up even more.
     "Y/N, you look great."
     "I told you once that I was incredibly pretty."
     Last time he saw you, you still had cuts in your face and a cast on your arm. Now, you were like a different person. Like that girl, he once admired dancing in those videos months ago.
     "What are you doing here?"
     "Today is my first day in the academy," you let him know. "I wanted to tell you tonight, but I couldn't wait." He smiled. "Hey, so, I have a surprise."
     "Another one?" You chuckled.
     You took out from your pocket two tickets for a horror film festival the day before, and he glanced at them curiously.
     "We both love Halloween, so I thought it could be a great idea." He smiled.
     "I love it... Y/N, about us."
     "Don't say anything, you whispered, proceeding to kiss his cheek. "We will talk about it after. Bye, Spencer."
    "See you tomorrow," he said softly, making you smile before leaving.
    "Reid," Morgan called him, "care to explain?"
    "Don't you have paperwork to do?" Morgan laughed, watching him walk away with a big smile.
    "Pretty boy..."
Use All of Me (P.9)
Title: Use All Of Me (Part Nine) Summary: Fem!Reader x Dark Mob!Steve Rogers. The Avengers are heroes saving the world but in this AU, they are also permitted by the powers in charge to have less than favorable business underneath their guise of mere superheroes. Steve and Tony are at the helm, keeping their empire’s wealth in check, both devious and perilous if crossed. Steve takes a liking to the reader at a party and it may be her undoing to her autonomy choosing to go home with him. Words: 2,440 Warnings: Dark AF, angst, emotional/mental abuse, smut, breeding, death
Part Eight || Part Ten || Masterpost (mobile) || Fanfic masterpost
Steve was downstairs in the Avengers compound working on something with Bruce. He would not tell you what it was, but you had a feeling it had to do with their drugs. You had overheard him on the phone, which confirmed that they were involved with shady business. He had left you upstairs, letting you mill about on your own. It was nice to be out of the house. You had taken the opportunity to walk outside along the waterfront. It was tranquil by the water away from the building. You wished you had brought some bread to feed the ducks.
Instead of taking the elevator, you had elected to take the stairs back up to the communal areas of the facility.
When you arrived back in the main room, you were breathing heavier than normal. You were already getting winded far easier now, which was annoying. Bucky was in there now and he noticed your discomfort when you walked in. You tried to look normal, but he had already seen it.
“Y/N, here,” he said coming over to you and putting an arm around your shoulder to lead you to the couch. “What happened?”
“I took the stairs,” you told him, laughing uncomfortably. “Not boding well for at home… staircases and all.” You let him sit you down.
“You cut your hair,” you said to Bucky, giving him a small smile.
He ran his hand over his far shorter hair, returning the smile. “You like it?” You nodded. “I was getting tired of the upkeep. Far easier to manage in the shower now.”
Your own hand ran over your stomach – a habit that was becoming common – as you chuckled. “I can imagine. It does look suave though.”
“That’s what I am always going for,” Bucky said jokingly. “Do you want some water?”
“Sure.”
He fetched you some and the two of you made small talk until your breathing and heart rate was back under control.
“I do feel I should work out more. Steve has a gym. I just have only been using the treadmill.”
“You think anything more than a treadmill is smart the further you get into this?”
“People work out all the way up to giving birth,” you told him. “But I’m sure I’ll need to get the okay from Dr. Kamal before Steve agrees to any strength training or the like.”
You stood up to return the glass to the bar, Bucky watching you with caution. You walked past him, stretching out your legs. On the way back to the seating area, you passed the table. It was glowing around the edges and you frowned slightly. Curiosity got the better of you.
Your fingers ran over the table and as Bucky warned, “Y/N, don’t—" suddenly a hologram popped up. You jumped back seeing all these equations you did not recognize. Bucky sighed, pulling you away from it just as a door slammed down the hall and loud voices echoed down the hall to the room the two of you were in. Tony stormed into the room with Clint on his heel.
“I don’t give a shit who gets the blowback! I almost got fucking SHOT, if you happened to miss that!” Tony was practically shouting.
Clint started, “I get that, Tony, but—”
“Who touched that?” Tony barked, turning an accusing look at you and Bucky, cutting Clint off.
The way Bucky slightly stood in front of you, sheltering you from Tony’s melting glare was all he needed. He advanced on the two of you and Bucky pushed you even further behind him.
“The next time you put your hands on something that doesn’t belong to you, I’ll put a bullet between those pretty eyes!”
“Tony!” Bucky barked at him now, standing his ground. “She just touched the table as she was walking by. She wasn’t snooping. Back off!”
Straightening up, Tony had a stare off with Bucky, the tension in the room thick.
Tearing his gaze away from Bucky, Tony told you, “Sorry. I’m not frustrated with you.” He whipped around and looked at Clint again. “Who I am frustrated with is that idiot.” He clicked something on the table, turning it off, the hologram disappearing.
“You already killed him,” Clint pointed out. “I don’t know what more you want to do to him.”
“Defile the body? Chop it up?” Tony suggested wildly as he strode over to the bar. He grabbed a bottle of Wild Turkey and poured himself a healthy amount. He took a long drink before smacking his lips and leaning on the counter. The other three of you were watching him with unease, wondering what he was going to do next. After a few moments, he looked up and demanded, “Where the hell is Nat?”
“She was making sure the shipment got through,” Clint answered.
“I know that,” Tony said strained. “But where is she now?”
“Hopefully on her way back.”
“What happened?” Bucky finally ventured to ask.
Tony snarled, “Adrian was trying to get some revenge. We gave him a fucking chance to work for us and he decided that wasn’t going to work for him. Well, now his face is kicked the fuck in, thanks to yours truly. You know, I am ready to just wipe out the rest of his stupid little shit stain of a crew – his fiancé included because if that little bitch tries to squeal—”
“Tony,” Clint said sharply, catching his attention. “Y/N doesn’t need to hear shit like that.”
Waving at you wildly, Tony snapped, “She’s in it now. She’s gonna hear shit sometimes. Right, sweetheart?” He directed the last at you and your mouth fell open, unsure of what he wanted you to say.
“Um, yes?”
“Right. See, Clint? I’m sure Steve has said some shit in front of her too. It happens. I’ve done it to Pepper plenty of times. They’re the side pieces. Which is why his bitch needs to get gone. Now. She’s a liability.”
Bucky tried this time, “We can talk about that later. You just need to relax. Have some more whiskey.”
Tony shook his head at them trying to shut him up, but he did all the same, taking another large gulp of his whiskey.
You sat back down slowly, resting back on the couch, taking in what you had just heard. You knowing even the slightest about their operation made you a liability apparently. It made whatever Bryce said the other day truer: you would have the whole team after you if you tried to leave and they would want to find you because they would not want you to talk about anything. It compounded the risk of running away.
Tony refilled his glass and came over to the couch, sitting down near you. “You mind if I turn on the TV?” You shook your head and he chucked you underneath the chin. “Good girl. I just need to watch some people knock the shit out of each other. There was a fight card last night and I missed it.”
Natasha appeared, closely followed by Bruce and Steve. She looked upset and Tony held up his finger. She stopped, narrowing her eyes at him.
“Uh uh. The three here got me calmed down, stopping me from exploding my artificial heart. I need a few. Just tell me yes or no, did the shipment go through?”
“Yes.”
“Perfect. I will discuss the bullshit later. I need a little bit of time before we plot on the next move. Actually, if you have questions, Barton or Barnes can take you out into the hall and give you the basics of what I want to do. Y/N and I can sit in here and watch Holloway hopefully knock this joker out.”
You locked eyes with Steve and gave him a slight shrug, sinking back down into the couch. His hand rested on your shoulder as he leaned down to give you a kiss on the top of your head.
“I’ll be back then, love,” he said before following Bucky out of the room.
‘This is going to be your favorite!” Yua announced.
“Is it from you then?” you teased.
Natalie and Yua had arranged a baby shower for you. When they brought up the idea, you had proposed to Steve it be done here at home. He was more receptive to the idea presented that way. You had pushed your luck, suggesting he should not be home while the party was going on, mentioning it was a baby shower, typically for the ladies. You believed he was relieved you were excited about the idea at all, extending it towards the idea of being a mother, because he agreed quite heartily.
He was not quiet about it to the team, and you found yourself having three more guests added to the list: Natasha, Pepper, and Wanda. You were surprised at Natasha, she did not seem the type to enjoy such a get together but you kept that to yourself. She had been enjoying herself well enough, passing Natalie, exchanging looks.
Your friends insisted on you staying upstairs while they decorated and only allowed you to come down once they were finished.
Yua smirked, “Maybe.”
You laughed in return, opening the gift, the one of many more to go.
A little while later, you managed to pull Natalie aside while everyone was distracted with passing out prizes for a game. She followed you away from the room and let you lead her to the bathroom. You closed the door behind the two of you and turned around quickly.
“Can I use your phone?”
“Sure,” Natalie said, looking at you curiously but handed it over.
Googling, you tried to see the time it would take if you were to follow through with what you wanted to do. In seconds, your hope was dashed.
It was three hours at least – and that was with good traffic – to Grand Central Station. There was no way you would be able to get there in time before Steve realized you were missing. Even if you managed to knock Bryce and Patricia out with sleeping pills, Steve would more than likely check in and see them unresponsive.
You numbly handed the phone back to Natalie.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, seeing the look on your face.
“It’s nothing.”
“Y/N.”
Tears welled up and you wiped at your eyes, shaking your head. “If I tell you it will wrap you into it and I don’t want that. I don’t want you to be unsafe.”
She grasped your shoulders and forced you to look at her. “Y/N,” she repeated. “What’s wrong?”
“I just…he – Steve – wants 5 or 6 kids,” you told Natalie tearfully. Her eyes widened in shock and you hissed, “I know!”
“He said that?”
You nodded. “I haven’t even had the first two.”
“Did he even ask you what you thought about it?”
You shook your head now. “Of course not.”
Natalie’s shoulders fell and you sighed heavily, wiping at your eyes again, “He loves me. I know he does in the form he believes it to be true. But it’s… it’s suffocating. I can’t eat anything not approved for my health by my nutritionist and the babies healths. I didn’t have any say in that, he made that decision for me. I don’t leave without him and if I want to, I have to tell him where I’m going so he knows where to go if something ‘goes wrong’ and he can find me quickly. I’m afraid to google anything that might be suspicious because I’m afraid he’s going to ask to check my phone. He hasn’t ever but the fear is there if he ever got suspicious, you know?”
Slowly, Natalie said, “No. I don’t know. that’s not normal, Y/N.”
“Right. And I mean, he forced me to move in with him, sell my apartment, he quit my job for me—”
“Hold on. He did that?”
“Yes.”
“I thought you wanted that.”
“Are you joking me? I told him I could work. I’m pregnant, not disabled I believe were my exact words. And he said he didn’t want me working and I was going to end up not working at all anyway if I was with him.” Natalie rose her eyebrows and you shrugged helplessly. “I…I wanted to leave. I asked Bryce – my security – first and he told me he wouldn’t help me and made me promise I wouldn’t try to leave. So, then I wanted to take a train. Somewhere. Anywhere. It would be hard to track a train route if I took someone’s ticket at the station rather than being on camera and buying my own. I could manage on my own. Find a church to take me in and I could work to make up for their hospitality. I don’t know. That’s why I wanted to see your phone. See how far away it was.”
“That doesn’t sound like much of a plan, Y/N.”
You burst into tears and she immediately grabbed your shoulders. “Y/N, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude.”
“It’s not rude, it’s true. I’m… fucked!”
“If you’re that miserable—”
“I’m not miserable all the time,” you cut in.
“But you want to leave.”
“Yes, but more so I want to be able to breathe! If I could just do that…” you breathed shakily. “If he gave me space, I would be satisfied. I would be okay being with him. I just don’t see it happening… and I hate it because I still want it to work as I want to run away at the same time.” Rubbing your stomach, you looked around the bathroom. Sniffling, you said, “All the baby gifts are so nice. I could make the best of this.” You cradled your stomach closer, and said, “You don’t have to say it. I know you warned me. I was just smitten… so very smitten. And he was so sweet. I didn’t care about the danger.”
Natalie pulled you into a tight hug, cradling you close, electing to stay quiet.
<> <> <>
Outside the bathroom window, Natasha ground her teeth. She had been doing rounds around the grounds, wanting to get air from the tittering women inside. The bushes had done enough to hide her from sight. She heard Y/N and Natalie speaking and gotten curious why they were both in the bathroom. When she was able to hear clearly, Y/N was talking about having to sell her apartment because Steve ‘forced’ her too.
Natasha left the bushes when they fell silent, careful to not make any noise.
Childhood Friends; D.M.
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x hufflepuff!reader
Summary: You and Draco being childhood friends and starting to catch feelings for him and him also catching feeling for you! ( No Voldemort)
Warning: Long background/intro but, Fluff, Fluff, Fluff, and maybe a bit angst & cringe?
A/N: Hi! I’m new at writing fanfics so... please give me suggestions or requests. I can do fanfics for Draco Malfoy, George Weasley, and some Tom Riddle. The other’s I’ll try to see if I can. I don’t do smuts and harsh angst but I love to do fluff :). But, for today, I picked to make a Draco fanfic, hope you guys like it!
Tumblr media
(credits to the owner of the gif, not mine)
You had the most perfect life a witch could probably imagine of, you had a pureblood family( not that you really cared ) and a loving mother and father. Your name was the most beautiful name anyone could ever have. Y/n y/l. You lived in a beautiful house and had a good best friend. Draco Malfoy. Although some people thought the Malfoys were rich, ugly hearted people, Draco wasn’t. He was very kind and a fun boy to be around and be friends with. Your mother and Narcissa were very close friends, so you and your mum went to the Malfoy manor every 3 times a week for tea and for you playdates with Draco.
 You guys would always go to Narcissa’s garden and look at flowers and picked them sometimes to make little flower rings and you would always put flower rings on every finger of Draco’s. It was so cute to see Draco just following you around and letting you put all the flower rings in his finger and trying to act like he didn’t like it. Which made you all frowny and sad so he just started to say out loud, “Wow, these rings are so pretty you could even sell them at Diagon Alley and everyone would love it y/n!” “Really?” you answered with a smile that even could make a rainy day turn to a sunshiny day. “ Of course.” Draco answered with a smile.
That was only before you two went to Hogwarts, when you got your acceptance letter, you were so happy to see that you’re going to Hogwarts like your parents did. You owled Draco to see if he got his letter and he sent an owl back that simply said “ Yes.”.
You went to Platform 9 3/4 and said good bye to your parents and the Hogwarts Express took you to Hogsmead and you followed Hagrid to the boats and arrived to Hogwarts.
Now you entered a beautiful great hall that had a sorting ceremony ready with a wooden stool at the front of the great hall with the sorting hat. Each student was called and got sorted.
Now, it was Draco’s turn, he sat on the stool and the hat was about to get placed on his head when it shouted “ SLYTHERIN!”. Next, it was your turn, you sat on the stool and the hat was placed on your head. The hat thought for a moment and shouted “HUFFLEPUFF!” y/n was very happy and sat on the Hufflepuff table until she realized that she was in Hufflepuff unlike her parents. her parents were Slytherins, but she thought that they wouldn’t mind much. She was right. Her parents were fine with it and just let it go. But Draco on the other hand wasn’t.His parents would have never let him have a Hufflepuff friend since all the Malfoy's thought that Slytherin in families had to be kept in Slytherin. You know what I mean? So, because of his father’s command when he found out that y/n, Draco’s best friend was a Hufflepuff, he told him Draco to not be friends with her anymore. So, y/n and Draco had been separated for a long time until the 6th year of Hogwarts.
It was potions and this time the Slytherins and the Hufflepuffs had the class together. They were learning about the strongest love potion in the world. The Amortentia.
Professor Slughorn paired a student with another and he paired y/n and Draco together. As you might know, Draco is really good at potions, and so were you! This was your chance to finally talk to Draco and have at least a little talk with him and ask why he didn’t talk to you for a long time.
So you dashed over to Draco’s table before he could even move to your’s. “ Whoa! Slow down y/n!” he said as he chuckled. “ Wow you still know my name though.” You said to him and he answered with a laugh. “ Why would I forget my best friend’s name?” then your words that were about to come out froze. Best friends? Then why he didn’t even talk to you for years? You couldn’t stand it until Draco shook you a bit and said, “ Y/n? Are you alright?” “ Yeah, I was just wondering if I really am your best friend.”. Draco got a bit surprised when you said that. He raised an eyebrow for a second and said in a soft voice, “ What makes you say that?” “Because you haven’t been talking to be for ages and I really wondered it you were really my best friend.” Draco sighed at your answer. “ Y/n, I’m really, really sorry. I-I was told not to.” You didn’t need a explanation of who told him to. “ Why? Because I’m a “weak” Hufflepuff and not a “strong” Slytherin?” “ I think my father thought of it that way, but I never see you as weak at all. I-I was just scared.” This time you sighed. You put your hand on his shoulder and said, “ I understand Draco, I know how scary your father is by how scary his eyes look” You laughed a little and so did Draco. There was a moment for you and Draco that made you two realize that you two weren’t doing your task finally.
You two shot up from your chairs and ran to get the ingredients for the Amortentia. You two mixed the potion up the way it said in the book. “ Can you pass me the rose pedals?” Draco asked you and you handed him the rose pedals. But while handing the rose pedals to Draco your hands touched the other. You could feel your cheeks burning and turning red like the rose pedals. You tried to hide it and looked up at Draco and he was blushing too.
A/N: I’m sorry I stopped there :( I’ll come back with a part 2 and maybe more if it takes. I’m sorry if you didn’t really get the idea. This fanfic is a mess I agree. But I hope you some how enjoyed it!
A/N: This is the first fanfic I've ever written, so I'm very sorry if this absolutely sucks🥺 Any (kind) constructive feedback is greatly appreciated!
I don't want this to be too much of a slow burn, but I also don't want it to be too fast paced, so idk, we'll see how it goes😅
Also, it currently doesn't have a name, so that's a work in progress!🙃
Pairing: Fem reader X ???
Warnings: Potentially offensive language, mentions of death/loss/grief, very brief mentions of jail & implying a relationship with a minor.
Summary: It's been 6 months since The Blip, and life isn't anywhere close to going back to normal. Y/N Stark is still coming to terms with the loss of her dad, as well as adjusting to life since everyone who vanished returned back to Earth.
Tumblr media
Part One
"Steve represented the best in all of us..." You looked up at Sam Wilson as he spoke.
Steve Rogers' memorial was somewhere you didn't expect to be so soon after your father's passing. Everything that had happened since your dad had sacrificed himself felt like a continuous storm that was never going to let up, and Steve's death added to the weight of loss.
"...a few months ago, millions of people reappeared after five years away..." Sam continued.
You hadn't blipped. You were one of the supposed lucky ones.
Mostly, you were grateful - you'd gotten to spend more time with your dad (all thanks to Carole Danvers locating him and Nebula on the Benatar ship), and you got to see Morgan flourish into the sweet young girl she is now. But there was always that thought in the back of your mind: 'what would life be like now if I had blipped?'.
"...we need new heroes," Sam looked down at you from the stage. "...ones suited to the times we're in."
Rhodey nugged you lightly and you looked at each other. You gave him a small smile. He'd been a huge support to you, and he had so much belief in you.
"...thank you Capitan America," Sam was now holding Steve's shield. "But this belongs to you." There was an applause as the shield was placed into a display cabinet. It almost felt wrong to you, and you were sure Rhodey felt the same way.
"You OK?" He turned to you. You nodded.
Before you could speak, Sam was walking towards the two of you. "It's good to see you both." He smiled as he took Rhodey's out-stretched hand and pulled him into a hug.
"Wouldn't have missed it, man". Rhodey pat Sam on the shoulder.
Sam turned to you with open arms and you reciprocated his welcome hug. As you both pulled back he looked at you with a hint of concern in his expression. "How are you doing?" He asked.
"You know, up days, down days..." You shrugged, beginning to fiddle with the material belt that wrapped around the dress you were wearing.
Sam nodded his head slightly. "I'm just about to go and look around the exhibition, you're both welcome to join me?"
"Yeah that would be great, it would be good to catch up." Rhodey smiled before looking over to you.
"Sounds good." You gave a small smile. "I'm just going to get some air, and I'll be right back."
The two men nodded and returned your small smile, before you took off towards the exit.
Outside, you breathed in the warm Spring air. You just wished you could feel the warmth on your skin. How you felt was almost hard to explain - emotionally, you were completely numb and yet in absolute agony all at one.
The only person who could get you to emote nowadays was Morgan, and that was mostly because you didn't want her to see you so sad.
As you sat perched on a wall outside the building, you enjoyed the near-silence around you. There was very minimal noise: the distant whirl of traffic; a few people spoke softly as they walked by; the birds in the trees above singing. The quiet atmosphere was almost enough to drown the constant sea of thoughts running through your mind.
But then you thought of Steve.
In some ways he had been like an uncle to you. When your dad introduced you to the team, Steve accepted you into the Avengers like you'd been around for years. And despite the very obvious disagreements with your dad, he never stopped showing how much he supported you. How much he believed in you.
To you, that's what made him so worthy of being Captain America.
You took in once last deep breath, before stepping down from the wall and going back inside.
You found Rhodey and Sam looking around the museum. There were several of Steve's belongings locked up in display cabinets and pictures of him on the walls, alongside huge captions containing a mass of information and explanation. You stopped briefly to look at a picture of him and Bucky Barnes when they served in the army together. You were surprised that Bucky wasn't here today, but at the same time you understood - having to be grieve in public is one of the hardest things expected of a person.
"Y/N, I've just got to make a call to the Compound." Rhodey turned to you, phone in hand.
"Yeah of course, I'll meet you out front in a bit." You nodded.
"It was good to see you Sam." He shook hands with The Falcon and they exchanged goodbyes.
"So," Sam folded his arms across his chest. "How are you really?"
A smile tugged at the corners of your mouth. That was the thing about Sam - he could see straight through everyone, he was very hard to fool.
"Is it really that hard to believe that I'm actually doing OK?' a laugh escaped as you spoke.
"Y/N, you've had a lot of deal with over the last six months; I can only imagine losing Steve has been another thing to add to the pile." Sam's expression grew more concerned. You chewed on the inside of your mouth, a terrible habit you bad developed when you didn't know quite what to say.
"Have you..." Sam began, unsure whether to finish his question. "Have you spoken to Peter?"
A small sigh escaped you. "Yeah.
"I held on to so much hope when he blipped, but there was too much uncertainty. If he ever did come back, would he come back the age he should be, or would he still be 16? Would things still work out between us? But obviously we knew things couldn't continue when he did come back."
"I hate to say it, but you know it's for the best." Sam shrugged. "He's only 16, you're nearly 22..."
"Well, in all honesty, I don't want to go to jail." Another laugh fell out as you spoke.
"Not to mention you're a completely different person to who you were five years ago; you've matured more than your years." Sam added.
Your tone softened along with your expression. "If I'd have blipped too, things would be different."
Sam took a step closer to you and placed his hand on your shoulder.
"I'm about to give you some tough love, so buckle up;" he began. "You can't focus on what life would be like if you'd blipped, Y/N. As much as you want to live in that fantasy, you can't - this is reality. Damn, I wish I hadn't blipped!
"Now, I know for a fact, that you have so much potential in that brain of yours, you're incredibly smart, just like your dad. But you need to tap into that potential and use it. Now is the time for you to truly make something of yourself, and be the person that you want to be."
You looked back up at Sam. You knew he was right. "I'll try." And you meant it.
"Speaking of Peter, I'm actually seeing him tonight, I said I'd help him with this project for school."
"Look at you, being a real adult." Sam teased. You laughed a little with him.
A sudden thought dawned on you: "It must have been so weird coming back from the blip and everything being so different." Your brows knitted together slightly.
Sam let out a giggle, "you could say that."
His expression hardened slightly.
"When I came back, it was pretty much just like waking up from the longest sleep.
"We arrived right back where we left and everyone was just going about their business, as if half the population hadn't completely vanished. I remember their faces; some confused, some relieved. Many of them ran, I presume back to where they lost their loved ones to see if they'd returned also.
"The first thought that I had was about my sister and my nephews, I just wanted to know if they were ok. But, we needed to fight first. Never before had I felt such a fire in my gut - I was ready. We all were. We were ready to do whatever it took to defeat Thanos.
"Some of us more than others."
You nodded.
There was a brief silence before you spoke; "I'd best go look for Rhodey, he'll think I've dashed off without him.
"Thank you, Sam. It's been really good seeing you." The smile you gave The Falcon was the most genuine smile you'd given anyone in months.
"It's been good to see you too." Sam embraced you in a goodbye hug, before you began to leave the museum.
"Y/N," Sam called as you left. You turned to look at him over your shoulder. "Don't be a stranger."
