“Where’re you going?”

Peter’s voice rang out from the living room couch as you sat on your little chair in front of your dressing room mirror.

“What?”

You could hear Peter shift uncomfortably on the sofa as you pinned your hair into place.

“Well, you wearing that little skirt that I got you the other day and-”

With a sigh, you put your pins down and turned to him as he turn his head around to face you, not even bothering to get up.

“What are you talking about, Peter, I told you?” You began asking, your eyebrows slowing stitching together at his confusion. “I have a college reunion party tonight.”

Peter placed a sour expression on his face.

“You didn’t say that it was on tonight?” He muttered, seemingly disappointed.

“I did, Pete. A billion times over.” You said back to him, you face stone cold with determination. Ever since you’d moved in with him, or hell even before that, it was like you barely left your place.

Your appearances at party and gathering were starting to lower drastically. You never noticed it at first, which was how Pete liked it, but he got too greedy. He restricted you a little too muchf ro you to let it slide and he was starting to show his real face more and more.

But it didn’t worry peter too much. There�� wasn’t anything a nice lovely date with some expensive champagne, a bouquet of your favourite flowers and a billion kisses won’t fix. And if that didn’t cut it, he resorted to straight up gas lighting you. That always worked, and he’d simply do it again.

“No. You didn’t.” Peter said softly, ever so slightly shaking his head. Peter looked innocent and so left out that it made even you start to question your sanity and memory. Had you really not told him? Were the hundred notes you’ve left him made up, or were the billion messages you sent him fake?

“But- But I did. And I promised them I would go, tonight, Petey.” You said back to him, just as softly as you go up from your chair.

“So who is it for?” Peter’s sudden change in tone confused you.

“What..?” Peter seemed somewhat unconvinced at your confusion.

“It's just that- you never really wear those kind of skirts around me and suddenly you’re going to a college reunion wearing them, so-”

“What’re you trying to say, Peter?” You pressed on, inching towards him.

“So what I'm saying is- Who’s the other guy?” Those few words left you speechless. Did Peter really think you were screwing around with other guys behind his back simply because you wanted to go to a party with your friends?

“There is no other guy, Peter, I just wanted to go to a party with my ladies and have some fun!” You said, desperately.

Peter let out a shaky breath and he looked at the time on his phone.

“Fine then, go and enjoy your party love,” Peter said lovingly, looking at you with those same pair of glossy eyes you fell in love with. “I’ll just cancel it and reschedule it for another day,” He added almost silently at the end. It was a bait, obviously. It was a bait and you caught on like the adorable little thing that you are.

“Cancel what?” you asked, starting to sound worried.

“Oh, it’s really nothing.” Peter smiled, “Don’t worry about it and go enjoy your party.” Peter turned back to the tv and listen to your footsteps intently. That was also bait, and the real question now was are you going to try to catch it too?

Peter watched you intently in the reflection of the tv to see what you were going to do and when he saw you step forward, he had to hold himself back from smiling, because you had fallen straight into his trap yet once again.

“No, tell me.”

Peter faked an exhausted sigh.

“It’s dumb really. I just planned for us to have a sweet date night so I could cook you dinner while we relax and maybe even watch a movie together?” Peter looked up at you, his shiny doe eyes ever so slightly growing glossier.

They weren’t real tears of course, but Peter had mastered the art of fake tears and it always came in handy when you were being stubborn.

“Don’t worry about it though,” He said quickly, turning away from you, and back to the tv.

Peter watched you from the corner of his eyes and when he felt you wrap your arms around his chest, he knew you had fallen straight into his intricately webbed trap, yet once again.

“There’s so way I’d let you cancel such a romantic event.” You whispered into his ear as his hand instinctively came up and grabbed yours in a loving way. You kissed him on the cheek, “I’m sure I can skip this party. It’s not that important anyway.”

Good. That’s how Peter liked it. So pretty and compliant, he just loves you so much.

A little too much.

Peter took your hand and led you to take a seat next to him on the couch. He wrapped his arm around you as you landed your head on his chest.

“You’re just so adorable sometimes. I love you so much,”

You reluctantly look up from your plate at the feeling of a hand covering your own, the warmth irradiating from the firm palm making you itchy to remove the hand, but you let it be. 

"Happy anniversary, babe.” Peter smiles at you, so genuine and loving, and you force your lips to stretch into a pleasant smile. 

“I can’t believe we’ve been together for a year now. I feel like we’ve only met yesterday but here we are.” he says with a chuckle.

“It’s as if time flies away when you’re in love, right?”

You weakly nod, opting to bring the wine glass to your lips to give you an excuse to avert eyes. But that doesn’t stop the turmoil of emotions that devastates you inside, the guilt eating you away.

You’re a horrible girlfriend. And a coward one too. One that keeps prolonging and dragging time, too timid to break-up. 

Not tonight, you decide, delaying the confrontation furthermore. Peter is so happy and you’d hate to break his heart on such an occasion.

At least, that’s what you tell yourself. 

“This place is really gorgeous, I love it.” you say, allowing your eyes to wander around the restaurant.

The place is indeed pretty. Elegant but at the same time, private and personal. It suits Peter. 

Tension accompanies throughout the entire dinner as you play the girlfriend role dutifully, pretending to laugh at Peter’s jokes and smiling at him. 

A part of you feels so bad for it, there used to be a time where you actually loved Peter.

You still like and respect him, he’s a great guy, unlike many men. But you’re no longer the same person that you were when you meet him. 

And Peter…

He’s the one that took a 180º change. Deep inside, he probably means well, intending to protect you but that isn’t enough to make you stay.

Not if you want to have a toxic-free life. A life without having to answer a full interrogation when you plan to hang out with friends.

A life without having to call and text your boyfriend about what you’re doing, otherwise he’ll most likely show up at your workplace, face pinched with worry because you failed to contact him. 

You’re so caught up by your thoughts that you wince, surprised when people start clapping and cheering, everyone’s attention fully on your table. 

When you confusedly look for Peter, your whole world drops. 

The world seems to stop when you look to your side as Peter gets down on one knee, a jittery smile curling his lips. 

Your face drops in horror, mind frozen and unable to think. 

“Peter…”

“I know, I know.” he brushes you off, joy irradiating from him, “Just let me say this first, yeah? I’m so nervous.”

Your mouth opens and closes a few times and you blink, unable to fully comprehend what’s going on. This can’t be true…

This has to be a prank, there’s no way that Peter is actually proposing to you. But your doubts are swiftly cleared as a small and elegant velvet box appears in the scene.

No…

Peter clears out his throat with a small noise before looking at you, and you realize how nervous he actually is, a light layer of sweat in his forehead.

“I had this whole speech ready, you know. Been preparing it for weeks now.” he confesses after a long moment, shaking his head.

“Tony helped me write it. Lots of fancy poetic words and-and I completely forgot all of it.”

“But what I really wanna say is that I love you, Y/N.” Peter declares, his voice gaining determination, “From the moment I saw you, I knew that you were the one for me. I was lucky enough that you gave me a chance to prove to you how much I care for you…”

Your heart tightens at those words and you clutch the table’s fabric, feeling yourself helpless. 

“... and this past year has been amazing. The best year of my life. All because of you.” Peter smiles tenderly at you, his hands working on opening the velvet box and you feel yourself tensing up when a delicate silver ring comes into sight. 

“So…Y/N L/N, will you give me the honor of being your husband?” 

And just like that, you faintly nod, not trusting your voice to speak. Peter beams at you and you do your best to retribute, despite the numbness that strikes you like a bullet.

The restaurant explodes in a loud applause and Peter wastes no time in pushing the pretty ring on your hand, engulfing you in a tight hug. 

“I love you so much.” he feverously kisses your head.

You push your face against his chest, hoping to hide the tears that burn in your eyes as you start regretting saying yes already.

You know those homework assignments where you have to interview someone in your family and then write an essay about their responses? Fic where Peter's class is told to interview their dad / a father figure in their life. 

Peter decides to interview Tony. But, he doesn't want his class to accuse him of lying, and he definitely doesn't want Tony to know what the assignment is about. 

So for Tony, Peter makes it seem like the assignment is just to interview anyone. Then, he carefully chooses questions to ask that are domestic and personal enough to avoid any mention of superheroes, celebrities, or so on. The few details that do slip through he just leaves out of his final essay.

For the class problem, Peter solves it by referring to Tony in the essay exclusively as "dad"

Unfortunately for Peter, the teacher then announces a part 2 to the assignment. Right after collecting the essays, the teacher says they will now need to bring the people they interviewed to school for their presentations

Peter has pretty much decided to not even mention it to Tony and just say his dad is busy. But then Flash has to open his big mouth. 

He accuses Peter of just making his assignment up, loudly reminding the class that he's an orphan. Peter clarifies that this father figure thing is a new development, but now the teacher looks suspicious

Peter is going to have to ask Tony to come to his school. And he's going to have to explain why the class will be full of kids and their fathers

I honestly can't deal with this mentally. This is my opinion so don't attack me on this. I do love reading MCU fanfics, it's just some honestly go way too far with theirs.

Like honestly, I see in Iron dad and Spider son fics, Tony literally calling him ‘Baby’, ‘sweetheart’ while always cuddling him. They’ve slept together multiple times because he had “nightmares”. Peter is 16, not once have I seen him act like this around his Aunt. Yes they hug and all that, but ya’ll are pushing the limits to the point it seems like they’re dating. Teenagers don’t do this type of stuff, it’s not cute, it’s uncomfortable and weird. He’s basically being watched 24/7 by his “Father”, no privacy and it’s just too much at this point. It's creepy, not sweet, not realistic at all.

He can’t stick up for himself. I’ve seen fanfics where he gets bullied by Flash and does nothing, full on crying. Like he gets beaten up. You guys go way too far with it to the point Flash should be in jail. When the Avengers make fun of him in fanfics, he does nothing. Peter would try to prove himself in reality or stop talking to them. He won’t get help or talk to his Aunt about anything in these fics and would just cry. He’s so weak and refuses to fight back like he should be doing. He’s got stuffed animals and is always carrying them around while crying. I’ve seen boys write fanfics and non of them have done this, it’s not cute anymore. He’s scared of thunder and lightning. Have you seen the shit he’s been through. I know about his enhancements, but he can handle it. He gets scared all the time by Thunder or starts full on crying because it hurts his ears. He went to war, do you think that's not loud at all?

He’s so weird in fanfics. Always wearing booty shorts. I get it, he’s a femboy, but they go so far up you can see his ass. He wears make up all the time like an insane amount and I’ve read some where he has cat headphones. I’ve only seen little kids with them like twice, please stop. He wears crop tops and all that, like you’re pushing it at this point. He’s a teenager running around school with such an inappropriate outfit. He’s always pouting and acting so childish to the point I agree with Flash bullying him honestly. Do you not understand what feminine even is? It's not about wearing inappropriate outfits all the time, especially at such a young age and around so many mentally ill people. He was molested as a child, I don't think he would do this.

The relationships he has with everyone is wrong and weird on so many levels. Now, Harley Keener.

Harley has started off with the shittiest character ever in so many fanfics and you all love it apparently. He would start off bullying Peter and being jealous of him around Tony in Parley stories. He would bring up his parents death after getting info about him from Tony some how. He would make fun of him and purposely trip him over. Whenever he gets mad at him, everyone tells him off for yelling at Harley. He spends so much time with Peter to annoy him that everyone thinks they’re dating and bring it up all the time. Peter complains about him to his friends and they think he’s just got a crush on him. Like, he’s a fucking dick head towards him. In the end, they some how start dating. Like, no, that’s just wrong. It’s so toxic. I would dump my friends if they acted like that when I brought up my bully.

Even when that doesn't happen, it's still really weird. He's awful and just stalks him all the time, while getting mad at him for not stepping up to Flash enough. People get so upset with other peoples problems and always yell at them and telling them to leave when they refuse to change the way they think about themselves. It's not about their mental health, they just want attention from someone who's unhealthy and seems to get the most attention from others.

Flash’s character is shit. Not once have we seen him actually touch him except when he slapped his ass(💀) in the first movie. It started with him making fun of him a few times and then the rest of the time, he honestly didn’t do much except like 2 other comments the rest of the time. He’s honestly not a bad character in the show and I enjoy him around. He’s got a hard time at home anyway, and apparently they use to be friends. Flash knows Peter is smart and only got upset because the teacher called him out that one time in class. Peter didn’t really seem quite fazed with his attitude and it’s 2023 now, people don’t as commonly get beaten up, and when they do, it’s usually people who take drugs and/or have mental issues that actually attack people. Flash has called him “Penis” like twice and after that, it went to “Parker”. Flash always makes fun of him in public, like no one cares and he some how isn’t embarrassed. He’s been dropped on the head or something in these fanfics, Istg. I get the comics, but he's an idiot in these situations and needs to grow the fuck up.

The Avengers are crazy around him. Absolutely obsessed. It’s sort of creepy. I know they’re supposedly his Aunts/Uncles, but they’re way too touchy and are obsessed with him and fight over him. Like 90% of the time it’s like that. They always wanna hold him and get cuddles. His head in their laps or theirs in his. Always playing with each others hair all the time. Randomly cuddling him from behind and actually attacking each other just for a hug. You need to tone it down a few notches. Like, it’s fun if it happens a few times, like maybe once every few chapters and less touchy, but they’re way too overprotective and friendly. They go insane over a paper cut. He’s not 5.

He’s Spider-Man, stronger than Captain America and the Winter Soldier. He was literally shot in the shoulder in NWH and didn’t even care, all he cared about was that his Aunt died in his arms and he was all alone. It’s still lodged in there, not once did they bring it up. We saw him get shot, he clutched his shoulder and bounced back when it happened, a minute later and he’s just sitting on a rooftop acting like not even a scratch was on him. We saw just how strong and fast he is without using his webbing. He was literally holding back while fighting Green Goblin, even when he wanted to kill him. Green Goblin is enhanced as well and he still would’ve been able to crush his skull in if he wanted to. He couldn’t see shit fighting Mysterio and kept going while being shot at in a narrow area with 12(?) drones shooting at him non stop. He was crushed under a warehouse and 5 minutes later in a plane crash, then ran into fire. He was 15 in Homecoming, 14 in Germany. Was in a War at 16, y’all are insane. PTSD, probably. Might see it in the next movie, but you are pushing it. He's got depression, it's been confirmed, but you all over react with the slightest things going on. Some of you don't understand what it's like to be in that state and you self diagnose your self. People with these problems are just like us, just have it more severe than others and don't go around like it's their whole personality.

Honestly, these fanfics are toxic and just so weird. I’m not even going to start with the OMEGAVERSE. Too much to handle, can’t believe how many there are. Half of the people writing this shit are at least 3-5 years older than me, probably 8. I get nightmares on a daily basis and wake up all the time, but like other people, I suck it up. He’s a sweet kid, but this is creepy. I’m praying none of you have kids honestly if this is how you’re going to treat them as teens.

Imagine if Peter parker and y/n used to date? And then Peter became so absorbed with being spiderman that he neglects y/n. After a few months of Peter's attitude you would eventually get tired of it and in the end you would either break up with him or just ghost him. And it isn't like he'd notice that you were gone.

You start to move on. You find someone that treats you better. But you have this constant nagging to keep checking on peter. Just to make sure he's alright. One of those times when you check on him, he isn't alright. He finally realized how mich you actually did for him.

Once he actually realizes though he sees you have moved one. He sees how much time you have had to change. Before you were always tired. You'd stay up waiting for Peter. And now that you didn't you looked a lot healthier. You were happier and spent much more time with your friends. When you were with Peter you barely talked to your friends because you always spent your time with him. You also wouldn't hang out with them because knowing that Peter was spiderman put you in danger, and if you spent time with other people, it could have put a target on their backs. (Don't mind me but listen to when I was your man by bruno mars whilst you read this)

Peter slowly but surely starts moving on. Very slowly. He starts eating more. He takes more care of himself. and he finally moves on

You both move one. You both make amends. And you both are happy.

You’re in the kitchen, leaning over the counter as you cut some vegetables for dinner. You have your AirPods on, so you never heard the door opening nor do you see Peter pressed against the wall, work bag still in his hand as he lovingly gazes at you. 

You look good, too good. Like you belong there, at his apartment, in his kitchen, making him dinner. It’s almost like a dream.

He quickly puts down the bag and silently reaches towards you, back hugging you. You practically jump from the small scare, but you relax as soon as you realize it’s just Peter. 

Your adorable boyfriend. 

Peter removes your ear pieces and presses a soft kiss on your cheek, his hug getting tighter. 

“Hey there. How was your day, babe?” you ask, continuing your task. His fingers sneak towards the waistband of your leggings and you swear you can feel butterflies on your belly from his touch. 

“Boring without you.” he replies, nuzzling your neck. You let out a giggle upon hearing his response and he gives your waist a small squeeze. 

“I’m serious, without you my day was absolutely bland. Wishing I was here with you instead.” his voice sounds serious and you know he’s telling the truth.

He never lies to you, you know that. 

“How was your day then?” He curiously asks. You shrug your shoulders, pulling away from him to place the vegetables on a pan.

“Also boring. Sent some job applications but haven’t gotten an answer yet.” your answer makes Peter frown, his arms crossing as he watches you work on dinner.

He knows exactly why you haven’t gotten any answers, he’s made sure to call each company to let them know that you’re no longer applying for the jobs but it’s a matter of time till someone reaches out to you with a job offer. 

“My company has offered me the chance of working remotely from home. That means more time for us to be together. You’re always in the apartment and that way, so would I. I start Monday from home.” he casually drops the information, eyes carefully analyzing you. 

“That’s awesome, babe! You’ll get to relax a bit.” you exclaim, rushing towards him to briefly hug him before returning to the stove. 

“Yeah and I was also thinking that we should keep this dynamic, you know?” he mentions.

“What dynamic?” you absently ask, grabbing a spoon. 

“Us together in the apartment. Me working and you doing the house chores. It’s a good balance.” you look at him with confusion. 

“I mean, yeah but only until I find a job again.” you say, feeling a bit uneasy over the way Peter talks about this. 

“But you really don’t have to. Find a new job, I mean. I can provide for both of us, you know that.” you almost drop the spoon, shocked at his words. 

“No, Peter.”

“No? Why not?” he furrows his brows, annoyance tingling him. You don’t answer and he starts losing his patience at you. 

“What? You don’t want us to spend time together, is that it?” he angrily throws and you involuntarily take a step behind. 

“It’s not like that, Peter. I just… I don’t know.” you hesitate.

“You don’t know? Babe, this is a great chance to move on to the next step. Have a domestic normalcy. Living together, getting married and then starting a family. Why not take the chance? I thought we always wanted that, didn’t we?” he adds, looking away from you as if you’ve hurt his feelings. 

It does make you feel bad, you’re lucky enough that your boyfriend offered to let you stay with him when you lost your job. He’s financially taken care of you ever since and in return you take care of all the domestic aspects.

And it hasn’t been bad, not at all. 

You’re just not sure if right now it’s the right time to take that next step, but you have a feeling that Peter will wrestle you into agreeing, if you dare to say no. 

“We’ll try it out then, okay?” you try to reconcile, giving Peter a small smile. You seem to have said the right thing because his whole body language changes, becoming lighter. 

He lunches towards you, pulling you into his arms as he lifts you in the air, kissing any part of your skin that he can reach. It’s so goofy that you laugh, thinking everything is fine now.

Once you get a new job, you’ll explain it to Peter and reason with him, he’ll understand.  

Positivity fills you but little do you know that Peter will never let you back on your word.

Got to the part of ASM where Harry is going Goblin mode and like. On one hand I don’t wanna blame Pete for Harry’s problems, because Harry is an adult and can (theoretically) take care of himself. But it’s hard not to be a LITTLE frustrated that Harry is constantly asking for help/saying he’s lonely and Peter has spent most of the time he’s been living with Harry going “hm, I should really check on my roomie, he really seems like he could use a friend right now 🤔” and then IMMEDIATELY getting distracted and never following up. At first I was like “oh, I guess they’re not very close in this version” but then Peter goes and says that he’s been having it rough lately because “my girlfriend and my best friend’s father” (referring to Norman Osborn) “died recently.” “BEST FRIEND”?! All this time he’s thought of Harry Osborn as his best friend?! I just can’t help but soft agree with Harry when he says “We were never friends, we just shared an apartment” because I know Peter isn’t the most emotionally intelligent, but HE HIMSELF considered paying more attention to his “best friend” several times and DIDN’T. Aughughhgh it’s just so FRUSTRATING. I realize that the fact that all this was so easily avoidable and that Peter’s biggest flaws directly contributed to his closest friend’s downfall is what makes it so tragic and compelling, BUT I’M NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT.
