Keeper of Light

I am very happy how this work came out!  I've been trying to sketch this idea in my head of a dragon with light emitting from behind. Last night I finally found some time to actually draw it after a long day doing homework. I wanted to try using that style I used in "Alone" again. Using a light gray with a hint of blue instead of pure white. Near the end, I decided to crank up the saturation to help bring more contrast between the black and gray. I was not expecting the large range of colors to pop in.

Evening Chase

Possible new OC? I'm really proud how this one came out. This feels like a true milestone of everything I've learned over this summer. Most of my drawings start as a sketch. Feeling like drawing something cute with a running dragon. And as usual I liked the first sketch so much I wanted to color it in. Flat colors looked great! I really love the little bumps of the scales giving it more depth. I was gonna call it finished but something told me to keep going. I always seem to overdo the shadows/highlights so I tried limiting them instead. A little hard to get used to since I feel like it needs to be darker/lighter. Through this exercise I found that I love the subtle shifts of colors I got. Even figured out how to add some transparency to the fins!
