Shadow work prompts for sexual trauma
I love shadow work. It's one of the main forms of therapy that I still use to this day
When did you first become aware of your own sexuality, and how did it shape your early experiences?
What messages or beliefs about sexuality were you exposed to as a child, and how have they influenced your adult life?
Have you experienced any traumatic events related to your sexuality? Explore the details and emotions tied to these experiences.
How do you feel about your body and appearance, especially in relation to your sexuality?
Reflect on your first intimate or sexual encounter. How did it impact your views on sex and intimacy?
Write about your experiences with consent. Have you ever felt pressured or violated?
What are your current sexual preferences and desires? How do they align or conflict with your past experiences?
Explore your relationship with shame and guilt regarding your sexual history.
How do you navigate discussions about sex, boundaries, and desires in your current relationships?
Have you ever been in a relationship where your sexual needs were neglected or exploited? Reflect on this experience.
What role does vulnerability play in your sexual experiences and relationships?
Reflect on your sexual self-esteem and self-worth. Do you find it challenging to embrace your sexual identity?
Have you ever used substances or other coping mechanisms to deal with sexual trauma or discomfort?
How has your sexual trauma affected your self-image and self-acceptance?
Explore any recurring sexual fantasies, fetishes, or desires and the emotions associated with them.
Write a letter to your younger self, offering support and understanding in relation to past sexual experiences.
Reflect on your current sexual boundaries and how they may be influenced by past trauma.
How do you cope with triggers related to your sexual trauma, and what self-care practices do you employ?
What are your beliefs about love and intimacy? How have they evolved over time?
Have you sought therapy or counseling for sexual trauma, and how did it impact your healing process?
Explore the concept of forgiveness. Have you considered forgiving those involved in your sexual trauma?
Reflect on your journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance in relation to your sexuality.
What are your fears or insecurities surrounding sexual intimacy, and how can you work on them?
Describe a situation where you felt empowered and in control of your own sexuality.
How does your sexual identity align with your overall sense of self and well-being?
Write about your ideal vision of a healthy and fulfilling sexual life. What steps can you take to move closer to this vision?
Reflect on any positive and growth experiences related to your sexuality.
How do you communicate your sexual needs and boundaries with your current or potential partners?
Explore the concept of healing rituals or practices that can help you in your journey of sexual trauma recovery.
What kind of support, whether from friends, family, or professionals, do you need to further your healing process regarding sexual trauma?
Please keep in mind that delving into trauma can be emotionally challenging. If at any point these prompts lead to distress, it's important to seek the support of a mental health professional to guide you through the healing process.

I was thinking about a conversation I had with a fellow writer a while back and I think it might also apply to fandom.
He was upset because his partner did not read much of his fiction. His partner was supportive of his writing in every other way--supporting his need to have space to write, asking questions about it, being a listening ear during brainstorming, encouraging him to make friends with other writers, etc. He (the partner) had never said anything belittling, discouraging, or negative about my colleague's writing.
But he didn't read much of it. The writer I was talking to wrote sci-fi, and his partner didn't read sci-fi. In fact, he (the partner) was not a big reader of fiction at all.
I told this colleague of mine something that I had decided about my own relationships: my friends, lovers, acquaintances, relatives, etc., have no obligation to be my fans. I met almost all of them outside of the context of writing. Our relationships are built on those things: common history, common non-writing interests, common social circles, common humanity. They didn't decide they liked me or wanted to hang out with me because of what I wrote. And I didn't decide to hang out with them because I thought they would read my stuff.
So, expecting people who I know from other contexts to be interested in my stories is kind of unfair. Yes, I should expect them to be supportive. No, I shouldn't expect them to change their personalities and start liking long, drawn out romances about gay Mormons (or whatever it is I may happen to be writing at the time).
If the non-writing people in my life also happen to be interested in my writing, awesome! If not, that's okay too!
And actually, this even applies to the writing people in my life. Most of the writers I know, I met not through reading their work, but through writers groups etc where we talk about the process of writing. I hit it off with people who face similar issues as I do, or because our personalities just happen to mesh. Sometimes, it turns out that I also like reading their stories. Sometimes, it doesn't. That doesn't mean I don't like them or I think that they are bad writers or that we can't learn anything from each other. It just means the story is for someone else.
This relates to fandom in multiple ways. Someone might like me as a person, but not be interested in most of the stuff i post on Tumblr. They might like talking with me about our shared fandom, but not follow me into my next fandom. They might like my blog, but not be interested in reading my fanfic, for whatever reason--they don't like reading fanfic, what I write doesn't jibe with them, what I write is triggering, they have many competing obligations and can't read every single fic that ever gets posted in the fandom, etc. They might love one of my fanfics, but not the others. They might enjoy my fanfics, but blacklist my personal posts or my political posts. They might enjoy conversing with me in the DMs, but not follow me at all.
And that's okay. That's normal. We are all different, and no one person is going to connect with me on every single level. In and out of fandom, I try to keep the attitude that the relationships I have are significant for what they offer, not for what they lack. If I feel like a certain need of mine is not being met, I can look to make additional friends, to expand into additional communities.
That isn't always easy. But it is much easier than trying to force the friends I already have to fulfill a need that they just can't fulfill.
And, by looking at the ways my friends support me, instead of focusing on the ways I wish they would support me, I appreciate the friends I do have more.
And I'm happier.
I'm not, like, a constant joy factory. But I'm definitely happier than I would be without this outlook.

Whumpcember2023 Day 24 - Bullet
@whumpcember
Tw: being shot at, gore
You would guess a bullet entering your own flesh and ripping through your intestens would hurt. The very moment the metal piece penetrating layers of skin, burning through muscles and blasting through your organs would be the most present overwhelming senses you'll ever feel. It's not!
The actual moment of the bullet opening that hole in his belly and ripping his insides apart, moving on to exit through his back, he felt nothing but a little dull pressure swiping him of his feet. He didn't even feel his shoulders bluntly crushing into the pile of hardwood boxes. He didn't feel his left wrist breaking, when he reflexively tried to stop his fall.
He did hear the discharging gun, his friends yell, a sickening moist sound, being under the impression it was his friend who was hurt.
Than the rushing in his eyes started as if someone that flipped a switch. His own heart was suddenly beating up to his neck frantically.
He was laying on the hard concrete floor of the warehouse, his hands tightly pressed against his belly without even noticing at first. They felt warm and sticky. His mind was crystal clear, but kind of disconnected.
His friend's scared face just above his own. "Oh God, oh God." The friend whispered, but looking up at him, he didn't understand why.
Another switch, more like a dimmer, was operated and the dull pressure in his belly, he thought was coming from his own hands pressing down on it, got worse, much, much worse.
Suddenly all his nerveendings started firing at once. All his senses on high alert. 38 seconds after the bullet ripped him apart, he finally got aware of what happened. A deeply painful cry dislodging from his bloody lips, filling the nightair of the warehouse, echoing from naked concrete walls.

This is a series of letters sent between three sisters. One has run into the deadly forest that's spreading throughout the land, away from her life and towards the mysteries of magic that intrigue her. The middle daughter is helping to set up a new village, offering protection and solving the simple problems of the people who live there. The third daughter is a warrior, who together with her giant raven, fights against the things that wander out from the trees and protect the lumberjacks that are trying to slow the spread.
This is a new series, based on the solo RPGs 'Her Odyssey', 'Of Moon and Stick' and 'One day at a Thyme'.

Authors are so concerned with not looking like they're endorsing something "bad" that it's ruining stories.
I picked a LitRPG that was supposed to be geared toward fans of Pokemon. Great, I thought. This'll be fun!
So far, in the first 16% of the book, our 17-year-old protagonist has considered unregulated underground monster battles for extra money and by the end of the chapter rejected it because "bad"; and was going to run away so he could by a monster and begin training it for battles--something his grandmother refuses to allow--and then didn't because he magically found a monster his mother meant to give him for his birthday, and then immediately realized how awful a person he would have been for abandoning his grandmother. Despite his decision being fueled by wanting to earn money to save their house.
Jesus. Both of these would have been far more interesting starts. The author could have picked one and launched from that, instead of teasing it in what is clearly meant to be fodder for later books. It's so obvious. And so is the preaching about not running away.
So, I guess the point is 1) don't start your story too late and 2) writing it doesn't mean you endorse it irl, so focus on a good story!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let's spread the self-love🫶🏻 😘
Aw fun! Thank you for sending this!
My favorite five fics (in no particular order other than alphabetically) are:
A Debutante in Training
I know it’s only one chapter so far, but the thought I put into everyone’s names and homelands makes me really love it. I think it’s pretty special for those reason, even if people just glossed over it.
Bittersweet
You all know how much I love Hades/Persephone, and even though I have a whole multi chapter fic in the works — this one is short, sweet, and to the point. I really love it.
Guns N’ Roses
I’ve been wanting to put my own spin on the whole dark romance mafia/crime au ever since reading Al Capone and Duncan Malone back on ff.net when I was like 12? I’m actually taking my time with this AU and love the twists and turns I have planned out for future chapters! It’s fun to write, and I love how I’m pushing away from the normal fic themes in creating something that’s going to probably trigger some emotions. Which reminds me, I should probably put a warning in the notes of chapter 1 once I actually get to the darker themes. Sorry, I read Haunting and Hunting Adeline and just needed to add that extra effect.
Please
This is another one I really love. There are so many reunion fics but I’ve never read one that begins with an event canon created. I really wanted to write Duncney in a more mature atmosphere, so throwing them into a 5+ year timeline really helps. I want it to be as realistic as possible in terms of second chance romances. Now, I normally hate that trope, but putting these two babies in it just makes it work.
Princess
I try to stay away from writing anything in the TD universe when they are still teens, let alone on the island, but I think this one is cute. I love how I have Duncney have more of friendship before anything happens in canon — so it kinda adds onto their feelings for each other.

Whumpcember2023 Day 11 - Infection
@whumpcember
Waking up, was always so much worse. It felt like days, at least hours must have passed and that he should be feeling better by now.
A desperate look at his watch and all hope was gone. It was still the same day, no worse, only 23 minutes had passed.
He felt worse than 23 minutes ago. His muscles were weak, but hurt like he had overdone it with his workout. His head was hot and foggy, thoughts turned into mush a moment after their arrival.
His clothes were soaked, his skin clammy, but he was cold nonetheless. Actually, he was freezing under the warm blanket.
Foolishly, he had never believed, that actually being cold, when the body was burning with a fever of 104 was more than a myth.
No, it surely was a real thing, he knew by now.

I’m this girl
Until I’m not.
I’m threading dandelions through my braids
The way silk moves through water
Pushing violet hour
and guessing moonlit terrors in orphaned dark
Because the room is always cold.
You think you know this
But your hand comes reaching out
A map of a palm with calluses like deep set rivers
and I make trenches in your fingers
Setting up base and building a well
Planting flowers in your nail beds
Which die every season
Thumb looming like a mountain
Skin beaten into shape
and a rise and fall of a hand like a weathered ancient valley
I sleep in the palm of your hand
and these are the hills that I die on

The food was gone. It wasn't a surprise to Zan, who had stretched the merger amount over more days. He needed to leave the safety of his solitude and face people, or brave the storm to check his traps which might be empty anyway. His preference would be to face a starving bear over people, but that would just be a complicated way of committing suicide and he had a promise to keep.
