FAVES and FAILS: The Vampire Diaries

So I have decided that since The Vampire Diaries has a spin off, The Originals, I am going to divide the characters based on where they appeared the most. So on this list I will be talking about the Salvatores, the Petrova/Gilbert line, the Bennets and Caroline, etc. but I will discuss the Mikaelsons, Hayley, etc. on their own list with the other characters that appeared on The Originals mostly. As always, spoilers are abound as I will discuss storylines and character arcs below, so be warned of that. In any case, here’s my FAVES and FAILS for The Vampire Diaries.

FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: Damon Salvatore

Could it be anyone else? I don’t think so. He’s a delightful little sociopathic shit and I love everything about him. He is 99% id and 1% ego, if that, and even when I hated him, I loved him (god, I sound like Elena…). In any case, love this man, five stars, would recommend, chef’s kiss.

LEAST FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: …I think Matt Donovan…?

Ugh, it’s hard to pick between Matt, Tyler, and Jeremy, but I think it has to be Matt. I never enjoyed his judgey attitude against everything supernatural, he seemed pretty whiney most of the time, and he was just genuinely uninteresting for the majority of the show. Not into it. Pass.

FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: Katherine Pierce (Katarina Petrova)

I thought about giving this post to Caroline by default, but if it comes down to it, Katherine nudges her way into the top spot. Katherine gave no fucks, knew what she wanted and was unapologetic about how she went about getting it, and an all around bad bitch. Was she primarily evil? Yes. But, to be honest, it never really bothered me.

LEAST FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: Bonnie Bennet

God, this woman was annoying. She was hypocritical, judgmental, and far too holier than thou for me to swallow her bullshit. She constantly played favorites with Caroline and Elena (I’m sorry, you hold Caroline becoming a vampire against her for like two seasons, but when Elena becomes one, it’s not her fault? Sure.). She hated all supernatural creatures because they “go against nature”, but it’s totally chill for you to perform sacrificial magic to get what you want, unleashing a terrible evil in the process (but it’s not her fault). How she nearly excommunicated Caroline just because she stayed with Stefan after Stefan killed Enzo, as if it was her fault in any way. How everyone treated her like she was a special little unicorn because she’s a Bennet Witch and she’s so magical, like, please, gag me. I could go on, but I honestly cannot be bothered. Hard pass.

THE CHARACTER THAT DESERVED BETTER: Caroline Forbes

She was essentially shunned by all of her friends and family for becoming a vampire, even though she didn’t choose to become one at all. Also, she was basically used as collateral damage for the entire Salvatores and Gilberts versus The Mikaelsons debacle just because Klaus liked her. She was always the second choice no matter what the situation was (unless it’s her being impregnated with magical twins without her consent and then guilted into carrying the babies, but poor Alaric just lost his wife. I’m sorry, unless it’s your uterus, shut the fuck up). I’ll just be over here doing what exactly NO ONE on the show did, and pick Caroline first.

DEADWEIGHT CHARACTER WE SHOULD’VE DUMPED IN 2009: Tyler Lockwood

I couldn’t pick Matt twice, so Tyler, I guess. He was selfish, a terrible boyfriend to both Caroline and also Liv later, and if I have to hear that boy whine about his fucking sire bond one more time I will literally throw my laptop off of a bridge.

UNDERHYPED CHARACTER: Lorenzo “Enzo” St. John

Honestly, he’s one of the one things that made the last few seasons of the show bearable. His delightful British rogue was a lovely way to fill the void that the Mikaelsons left in my heart, his devil-may-care attitude was man-made-manifest of what I was always thinking while watching the show, his BFF relationship with Damon and later Caroline was a joy to watch, and he was way too good for Bonnie.

OVERHYPED CHARACTER: Alaric Saltzman

He is marginally more bearable right now on Legacies, but he annoyed the shit out of me while he was on the first show. Does he hate vampires or is he best friends with them? Does he want to be a hunter or does he want to stay away from anything supernatural of any kind? Also, he (along with nearly everyone else) basically guilted Caroline into carrying his magical siphoner babies, which is a touch too icky for me…

SHIP YOU WOULD SELL YOUR SOUL FOR: Delena (Damon and Elena)

Could it be anyone else? I never shipped Stelena, as I found both Stefan annoying and Elena too woe-is-me while she was with him. She made Damon want to be a better person and he made her embrace who she really was, monster and all. They had a perfect balance between themselves, and it was a joy to watch. He got the girl, guys.

SHIP YOU JUST WERE’N THAT INTO: Steroline (Stefan and Caroline)

They were just too…meh. I was entirely uninterested in them, whatsoever, and isn’t that even worse than a ship that you hate? I used their scenes for a bathroom break or to get a snack, as I was guaranteed to miss nothing interesting or important while they were on screen.

CHARACTER YOU LOVE TO HATE/FAVORITE VILLAIN: Kai Parker

What does it say about me that all of my favorite characters are violent psychopaths…? I’m just going to leave that to be unpacked with the future therapists I’m bound to hire. Kai was the perfect evil. He was powerful, purposeful, and unapologetically demonic in the very best way. I could watch him terrorize my favorite characters forever and not get bored. Perfection.

FAVORITE STORYLINE: Stefan and Damon’s Brotherhood

If you don’t think this is what the show was about at it’s core, you’re wrong. They loved each other, they hated each other, they died for each other, they killed for each other, and, ultimately, they let nothing and nobody come between them. If you asked me who Damon loved more, Elena or Stefan, I COULD NOT answer you, and isn’t that just the fucking point?!

STORYLINE WE COULD’VE DONE WITHOUT: Magical Babies

I know that a major reason this was even a storyline is because Candice Accola got pregnant, but still…how? Like…she is a vampire..? She is unable to biologically change…? Like can someone grab me a biology textbook and explain how this a thing that can happen BIOLOGICALLY, please? I get that they are mythical creatures, so science doesn’t mean much here, but it just doesn’t make sense in any universe. Also, as I said above, the fact that Caroline was impregnated without her consent and then largely guilted into carrying the babies is a touch too rape-y for me…

BIGGEST PLOTHOLE: Do they go to school, or…?

Like, are they just compelling the teachers to not notice them not attending class like 90% off the time? Also, how do the people in Mystic Falls not know anything about the supernatural? Like, they aren’t subtle AT ALL so how do they keep sliding under the radar? Also, in a lesser way, how are hybrid witch/vampires a thing? Like, I thought if a witch dies (like they would have to if they become a vampire), they lose their magic…?Make it make sense, Julie!

MOST HEARTBREAKING MOMENT: Damon Dies (the first time)

Honestly one of the saddest moments in the entire series was Damon’s ghost watching Elena lose it when he doesn’t make it back from the Other Side. They were finally happy and together and they can only enjoy it for like five minutes before it goes to shit. Why, Julie??!

BIGGEST EYEROLL MOMENT: Magical Babies (again)

I try to not use something twice on this list but COME ON. This was ridiculous and I do not support this in any way. (Also this twin bullshit is still fucking annoying on Legacies, if anyone was wondering).

MOST SHOCKING MOMENT (any spit-takes?): Elena forces Kathrine to take The Cure

This was one of the moments that I literally gasped aloud. Most of the time the foreshadowing on these shows is seen from miles away, but I honestly did not see this coming at all. Also, Kathrine was basically the LAST person who wanted that cure so it’s crazy that she was the one to end up taking it and turning human.

MOST BADASS MOMENT: Kathrine kisses Damon at the end of Season 1

Like I said before, she is the original BAD BITCH of the show (not an actual Original, but you know what I mean…) and this was an amazing entry for the character who would be, largely, the villain of the series. It played on the feelings that Damon is developing for Elena, it finally introduced the person who started it all for the Salvatores, and it showed us exactly who she is at her core, and that she isn’t sorry about it at all.

SERIES FINALE SATISFACTORY LEVEL (use no words, just gifs):

OVERALL MARKS OUT OF TEN (10 being this show has changed your life for the better, you happily rewatch the series over and over, and the show has made your life better in some way. 1 being this show gave you nothing but trust issues, a stomach ulcer, and high blood pressure, and you honestly do not know why you did this to yourself)

7 out of 10.

I look back on The Vampire Diaries with the kind of fondness that only comes from a bizarre mix of nostalgia and incredulity. When scenes from this series show up on my instagram feed or on my Youtube recommended page, an involuntary smile creeps across my face without me realizing. I could do without like half of the characters and some entire seasons were completely unnecessary to watch, but it gave me some of my very favorite characters and ships, and spawned an entire universe that I still enjoy to this day. This magical, crazy, beautiful world was a joy to experience, even when it made me want to beat my head against a wall at least once per season.

TV Shows FAVES and FAILS: Gossip Girl

My next Faves and Fails! Not sure if anyone is reading these but me, but ima post it anyway...

Also if, for some reason, you haven't finished the series even though it has been nearly a decade since the last episode aired, there are spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned:

FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: CHUCK BASS

You have no idea how much I love everything about this boy billionaire (even his fugly orange scarf he wore in season one!) His growth from entitled, self-obsessed, manwhore into a slightly less entitled, slightly less self-obsessed, committed partner to Blair was #goals and I would have watched a show about only him with no complaints. (ok, I’d want Blair there too… don’t come for me) Let me leave it at this: “I’m Chuck Bass”. ‘Nuf said.

LEAST FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: Rufus Humphrey (but only because Dan has his own fucking section of this list down below)

This failure to launch, walking mid-life crisis was my first choice for least favorite male character, and my only other choice would be his equally as disappointing son… I am unimpressed with his rags to slightly more expensive rags storyline, and his weird will-they or won’t-they relationship with Lily got boring in the first five seconds and I just could not be bothered. At least he apparently was good at waffles.

FAVORITE FEMAL CHARACTER: BLAIR WALDORF

Did yo think I would pick anyone else?!?! She’s the original red-lip classic, Chanel No.5, take no prisoners, Queen of Manhattan (that weasely Prince from wherever-the fuck-France should consider himself to be graced with the presence of such royalty). Every time I curl my hair and put on my game face, I ask myself “what would Blair Waldorf do?”. Then I remember that we live in vastly different tax brackets so the Birkin and the limo are going to have to wait…

LEAST FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: Vanessa (what was her last name?)

She was judgey, she was abrasive, she was like trying to dry-swallow a huge pill, and I cannot be bothered. Just, *shudders* no thank you, can we please move on so I can stop thinking about her forever?

THE CHARACTER THAT DESERVED BETTER: ….This might be a shock, but…SERENA VAN DER WOODSEN

She was admittedly ditsy at times, and made self-sabotaging decisions way too often, but she was always dealing with some bullshit that life throws at her every five seconds. People always took the time to tell her when she messed up or when she wasn’t what they wanted her to be, but she hardly ever got a “good job” or a “we support you” when she was doing things right. Also, when you factored out all of the stupid petty shit, she was a great friend to Blair, so I love her for that.

DEADWEIGHT CHARACTER WE SHOULD’VE DUMPED IN 2009: Jenny Humphrey and/or Dan Humphrey

They were whiney, bratty, and thought they were so much better than the “corrupt” Upper East Siders, while they were more than ready to fight dirty to get ahead. If there’s someone I hate more than a brat, its a hypocrite. So swipe that metro card babe and kindly get the fuck out of my face; their stink tends to linger when you’re around them too long.

UNDERHYPED CHARACTER: Lily Van Der Woodsen

I mean she married Bart…twice…but, like, maybe she chose to see his good side…? (If he had one). But this mom wrangled Serena so that she, at the bare minimum, wasn’t passed out in the bathroom of a club every night, and helped Eric with his mental health issues (when the writers even remembered he existed), and then really stepped up and became a mother to Chuck when she absolutely didn’t have to do that, so I give her props for that one. Serena liked to whine about how her mother fucked her up, but you did a lot of that bullshit on your own, S, don’t be pointing fingers if you can’t take the ones that’ll be pointed a you.

OVERHYPED CHARACTER: Nate Archibald

Ok, don’t get me wrong here, he was nice to look at, and he was a good friend to Chuck when he remembered to check on him, and he would’ve arguably been a better Endgame for Serena then Dan fucking Humphrey (that’t not saying much tho…), but I was bored with him most of the time he was on screen…like… do you know how boring you need to be to overcome a model’s looks?!? Do you know??? It takes being really FUCKING boring!

SHIP YOU WOULD SELL YOUR SOUL FOR: CHUCK AND BLAIR

If you didn’t ship them, you’re wrong. Plain and simple. She showed him that he doesn’t have to chase the acceptance he was craving down with bottle of scotch and a prostitute to keep him warm. He showed her that she didn’t have to bend to fit the perfect mold that the world was asking for because her jagged edges fit his perfectly. Their journey was not easy, it moved in stops and starts, but once they realized that they could conquer their kingdoms better together, rather than apart.…well, look out, world, you have no idea what’s coming for you.

SHIP YOU JUST WERE’N THAT INTO: Dan and Serena

To be perfectly honest, I think Serena needed to spend some time focusing on being single because that girl has enough going on, she does not need boy drama on top of that. But…her and Dan were a walking disaster. Mostly because Serena is flighty and unaware of the more deep-seated issues going on, but also because he was judging/shaming her for her entire way of life from the very beginning!! (and allegedly posting the private shit of her and all of her closest friends anonymously, but we’ll get to why I thing that’s bull later…) I’m sorry, no. I’ve heard of opposites attract and that other bullshit, but this on a whole ‘nother level. No thanks. Hard pass.

FAVORITE STORYLINE: The Finale (well, most of it, anyway…)

Firstly because my favorite couple got married, in the most hastily put together and yet somehow still beautiful wedding in Central Park. But we got to see our faves come back and band together again, and if you didn’t cry when they walked up The Met steps in that shot, you’re lying. (This is all pretending that the flash forward to Dan and Serena’s wedding was a fever dream I was glad to wake up from)

STORYLINE WE COULD’VE DONE WITHOUT: Dan and Serena’s on again, off again, rollercoaster of a whiney relationship.

I personally think that Dan is the worst. Both as a person, but ESPECIALLY when it comes to his ridiculous relationship with Serena, Despite his self-proclaimed knight-in-shining armor complex, he was actually pretty sexist, particularly to Serena. He would frequently slut-shame Serena (when he found out she slept with Nate before they even met, when she hooked up with her teacher—even though he did the literal EXACT. SAME. THING., I could go on). And it wasn’t Just Serena too, it was basically any person with a vagina he came in contact with. But we’ll focus on S rn because I do not have all fucking week for this shit. He reported (as GG) that she may be pregnant, that she has an STD, AND he made incest jokes in a post about them, and this is ALL WHILE THEY ARE STILL DATING!!! Plus, he openly hates Serena’s best friend Blair while they are together, and tries to isolate her from her world so that she fits better with him. Then later, when he writes his book, the character he based off of Serena is described as “vapid, shallow, and an idiot” and he PUBLISHED THIS SHIT IN VANITY FUCKING FAIR!!! Like, what the ACTUAL fuck. And they're Canon ENDGAME?!?! Please just fuck off before I bash my head against a wall.

BIGGEST PLOTHOLE: Dan is Gossip Girl

I did some research to find all of the ways this doesn’t make sense and here are some of the most convincing ones. There’s more, but after my rant above, I cannot be bothered.

There are several scened in GG where he is alone and gets a GG blast and is surprised by what it says.

GG frequently insults Serena and outs her personal info all the time. Like her substance abuse issues and her potentially being pregnant even while Dan was dating her and claiming to love her.

There are several times where we see Dan either texting or emailing with GG, so like…is he emailing himself?

GG blasts would happen while Dan was in sight and physically seen in public (like when GG fucks with Blair while she walks down the aisle and plays the video of her confessing her love for Chuck, Dan was clearly visible and not doing that.

This isn’t a complete impossibility, but if he is GG then it’s gross that he posts about his underage sister’s sexual exploits.

MOST HEARTBREAKING MOMENT: Blair’s unsent letter to Serena

Um…hmmm…I haven’t seen this show in a minute but I feel like I have only been talking about Chuck and Blair here, so lets talk about Blair and Serena!! This moment in season one where Blair reads Serena the letter she wrote to her when Serena left for boarding school without telling Blair really hut me in the feels.

BIGGEST EYEROLL MOMENT: When Dan had a threesome with Vanessa and Hilary Duff

I do not remember her character’s name, nor do I have to energy or desire to look that shit up, but I can still feel the pain in my eyeballs from when I injured them rolling my eyes at this bullshit eleven years ago!!

MOST SHOCKING MOMENT (any spit-takes?): Bart Bass returns from the dead.

Like…It wasn’t so much as a spit-take as it was a throw-your-computer/TV-against-a-fucking-wall moment. I do not like this man, I did not miss him, why is he back? Like, the fuck, I did not ask for this?!!

MOST BADASS MOMENT: The Non-Judging Breakfast Club take down…what was her name again…? Juliette, I think?

I just love when the OG four get together and do a little take down. This ep gave us the best of Nate, Chuck, Blair, and Serena banding together and collectively booting some wannabe out of their lives like you would a fly from your lemonade. And this gif is magic.

SERIES FINALE SATISFACTORY LEVEL (use no words, just gifs):

Hmmm, if I get rid of every storyline that is not Chuck and Blair (and a little Serena), its like a 9/10 (I could’ve done without the annoying Prince guy as well as Chuck’s random French girlfriend or that Raina girl, but Monkey was great). If we have to factor in Dan, the inability for any of the parents to actually parent in any kind of successful way, Jenny…(shudders)…6.75/10.

FAVES & FAILS: #1 (Teen Wolf)

I’ve decided to do this questionnaire when a show/book series/movies where I answer these questions with fun gifs too (its Tumblr, what did you expect?), if you want more info, the original idea post with links to each of my completed lists is here ⚡️. A bunch of my faves have already ended so getting all of these out will take a minute, but I’m aiming to post a new one twice per week. 🤞🏻Anyway, enjoy!! OH!! ALSO, I’ll be discussing plot elements in this list so...SPOILER ALERT!!

TV Show FAVES and FAILS: TEEN WOLF

FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: STILES STILINSKI

HANDS DOWN, no question about it! He was the soul of the show, and funny, and so incredibly human on a show full of the inhuman, and that was what made him so integral. Anyway, I could go on forever about how much I love Stiles, but here’s a gif:

LEAST FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: GERARD ARGENT

There isn’t really a male that makes me want to punch something, so good for the writers, I guess?

FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: LYDIA MARTIN

I really want to say Allison but it HAS to be Lydia, hands down! Her character development from a girl pretending to be vapid and shallow and who hid her genius so she could “fit in”, to a strong, powerful, confident woman secure in who she really is and the power inside of her (figuratively AND literally, lol), this girl is the real MVP.

LEAST FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: MONROE

This was hard because there are several female characters that made me want to throw my laptop out of the window. The short list is Kate Argent, Allison’s mom... I could go on... but Monroe’s systematic attempt to wipe all supernaturals out of Beacon Hills and then maybe the rest of the world gave me fucking high blood pressure and a rage issue. I don't care how “scared” you are, killing a kid who hasn't done anything wrong just because they are different than you is some fucked up, borderline genocidal bullshit. And she survived the finale!!? Like I had to deal with her self-righteous smirky attitude and you didn't even have the decency to punch her in the face and let me watch?!? Rude.

THE CHARACTER THAT DESERVED BETTER: Aiden (and kind of Ethan)

I badly want to say Allison again here because I love and miss her tons. But she died protecting her family and friends and I believe that she is happy wherever she went afterward. Watching Aiden die in his twin brother’s arms I don’t know who I felt the worst for. The boy dying, or his brother who now has to live without him... I’m gonna go cry now, brb.

THE DEADWEIGHT CHARACTER WE SHOULD’VE DUMPED IN 2009: Kate Argent

Luckily she was not a regularly appearing character, but when she showed up it was always “for revenge” and I'm like...can we just...not this season? I was having a lovely time and then you showed up with your petty anger for whatever fucking shit that happened in, like season one. Like, honey... if it’s been so long since you’ve been relevant that I have to google what you’re upset about because I have honestly forgotten...maybe it’s time to let that shit go. Kindly fuck off now, please...

OVERHYPED CHARACTER: Derek Hale

Like, don’t get me wrong, he’s great and I loved when he was on the show, but I feel like some people think he carried the show and it wouldn't survive without him. Well, surprise! because he went away after season 4 and I still think some of their best shit came in season 5 and the beginning of season 6.

UNDERHYPED CHARACTER: Deaton

Um, he was basically Scott’s druid emissary and he got no recognition for it. He saved all of the main pack members’ lives at least once. Also he didn't make Stiles pay for the windows, so he’s apparently not an asshole.

OVERHYPED SHIP: Scott and Malia

I feel like they had to adjust the final season A TON because of Dylan’s injury and Kira not coming back and I think the writers panicked when they didn't know who to put Scott with (because our leading man could never not have a girlfriend, *gasp* THE HORROR!) because Lydia needed to be with Stiles and I think they picked Malia because she was basically the only one left...I was never into it. In fact, when my friend texted me after we watched the episode where they get together, my response back to her was literally “meh 🤷🏻‍♀️”.

UNDERHYPED SHIP: Allison and Isaac

It would’ve been so nice to see where that relationship went. Don’t get me wrong, had she lived, I would’ve wanted Allison to end up with Scott. But I loved that the show was willing to say that it is okay to fall in love more than once in your life. Sometimes the shows aimed at a younger audience have a tendency to act like your first love has to be the one you’re with until you die and that’s just not realistic. It was nice that the writers didn't box these characters into that mold because it gave them more depth as characters.

FAVORITE SHIP: Stiles and Lydia

I don’t know how to explain how much I love this pairing. Like, from the beginning he saw her for how amazing she was and he supported her as she came into her powers and then she was always there making sure that someone was taking care of him when he was taking care of, literally, everyone else, and then when he disappeared SHE KNEW something was wrong nearly instantly, and ‘remeMBER I LOVE YOU’ I need to stop before this run-on sentence goes on forever. ALSO they’re canon official, which never fucking happens for my ships so I’m fucking excited, sue me.

FAVORITE VILLAIN: Deucalion

His backstory was well-developed and deep, he was clear with his goals, he actually executed said goals in a logical and timely manner, he was a fucking ALPHA OF ALPHAS, nuf said.

MOST HEARTBREAKING MOMENT: Allison’s Death

Hands down, the most heartbreaking moment on the show, and I will fight anyone who comes at me with a different opinion. Because like--she was smiling when she was stabbed because she had figured out a way to help her friends and then she died in Scott’s arms and told him she loved him even though they weren’t together she still loved him and he still loved her, and I truly believe that she had zero regrets when she died, and how bittersweet is that???! But Scott couldn't take her pain because it didn’t hurt anymore, and Lydia had to feel her best friend die and she screamed Allison’s name and if you are not hurting right now are you a monster???!?!

FAVORITE STORYLINE: Eichen House Escape/Dread Doctors in Season 5

It was hard to pick between the Dark Druid storyline in season 3A, but the Eichen rescue/Lydia learning how to be a BAMF Banshee from Meredith while she was catatonic (ALSO ‘Stiles saved me’ I AM DEAD!!!), and the whole la bête du gévaudan thing was great, and reuniting the pack after Theo had royally fucked it up earlier that season, it was all just superb! *chef’s kiss*

STORYLINE WE COULD’VE DONE WITHOUT: Like, the whole second half of the last season, TBH

It was a petty, counterintuitive, and just garbage. The monster was dumb, Monroe is a royal twat (as I stated above), and it didn't have a conclusion. Like, the fuck? This isn't Game of Fucking Thrones you guys do not need to leave every season finale with so many loose ends it make people want to throw their laptops off of a cliff into a vat of hydrochloric acid. And it was the LAST SEASON so there’s no hope of fixing this bullshit storyline. ugh, kill me now.

BIGGEST PLOTHOLE: Scott’s pretty selective “True Alpha” powers

They, like, kind of tried to pass it off as it taking a ton of energy so he can’t always do it all the time. But he got through a mountain ash barrier to save Deaton and activated his True Alpha but then couldn't get into Eichen to get Lydia out because of the mountain ash...? oh and also where the fuck did Cora and Isaac go? (I, sincerely, hope he’s not still just chinning in fucking France wondering were Argent fucked off to)

OVERALL MARKS OUT OF TEN (10 being that watching this show has probably increased your life’s worth by at least five percent; 1 being the only thing this show has given me is a stomach ulcer and trust issues):

8.75 out of 10. This show was a blessing and I would definitely recommend it to other people. (mostly because I love to get people hooked on my favorite shows and then they're stuck and we can be tortured together).

Gifs and Ships (ranking my ships using gifs...if you needed that explanation)

So I saw herosofmarvelanddc do this on my dash and they have literally no idea who I am so obviously didn’t tag me to do it too, but I’m gonna do it anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just so you all (does anyone even see my posts…?) know, I had to make a literal spreadsheet of my ships to accomplish this, just so I was sure I didn't miss any (41 ships across 25 fandoms, if anyone was wondering). I don’t know what that says about me…. Anyway, enjoy!

1. First Ship - Piper and Leo from Charmed (the original series, not the remake)

I think it has to be this one; I started watching it in like...2000? So I was five years old...Is that too young to ship something? My poor parents must have been so confused...and probably still are.

2. First OTP - Damon and Elena from The Vampire Diaries

Probably them. Not 100% sure...but it was definitely the first time I felt compelled to do literal battle against anyone who disagreed with me, so it seems fitting.

3. Current Fav Ship - Rose and Dimitri from Vampire Academy

I started rereading these books in the last few weeks because my country went back into lockdown, so I guess it’s them, by default. But it will probably be a different one next month. That’s like asking to pick my favorite child.

4. Your Ship Since the First Minute - Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl

This one basically punched me in the face in the first five minutes, and I could not have been happier about it.

5. You Wish They Had Been Endgame - Caroline and Klaus from The Vampire Diaries/The Originals

I feel like they would've been endgame if ONE OF THEM didn't have to develop MORALS and nobly SACRIFICE himself even though he PROMISED to be her LAST LOVE. (I mean it was to save his daughter, or whatever, but I’m still upset about it) ((🤦🏻‍♀️shit, sorry, spoiler alert!))

6. You Wish They Had Been Canon - Clarke and Bellamy from The 100

I 100% do not understand why they were never canon...(*wink* see what I did there...?) ((also, fun fact: I took French in college and I named my dog Bellamy before I even watched this show, and now everyone thinks I named him after the character, but I DID NOT, I’m just a nerd 🙃))

7. Most of the Fandom Hates, but You Love - Clark and Lana from Smallville

I guess it’s them, by default. I’m very easy to annoy when it comes to my tv shows and books, so if most of the audience doesn't like someone/something, I’ve probably been annoyed with it for a WHILE already. I do remember, however, that a BUNCH of people hated Lana (I never really understood why) and didn't want her to be with Clark. There was just something about these two that I really enjoyed, and I could never get around to liking him and Lois, so....

8. You Don't Even Watch the Show, but You Ship Them Anyways - Claire and Jamie from Outlander

I think this might kind of be cheating. I liked them when I saw people posting about them on my dash, but then I tried to watch the show and couldn't get into it, so does that count? (I ask my approximately 3 followers that definitely don’t care about the “rules” of this shipping list I was not even required to do...)

9. You Wish They Had a Different Storyline - Veronica and Logan from Veronica Mars

I get really annoyed when show-runners can't find a way to write someone off of a show without just killing them... (cough, Shonda Rhimes, cough). I think it’s lazy and the characters deserve more.

10. Fav Ship That is Endgame - Stiles and Lydia from Teen Wolf

Hands down, favorite ship that became canon. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 They are perfect for each other, and it was gratifying for the fans without coming across as too “fan-service-y”. (It’s actually one of my only ships that became canon and lasted until the end of the show, because I’m a masochist, I guess 😂)
