✮ Personal assistence ✮
I shall present to you a new down to core kinky oneshot: Tomura Shigaraki x Bunny!Reader
TW: NSFW, she/her pronouns, p in v sex, praise, degradation, caught while having sex
✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮
This job was a step into a better life with better salary. Even though you were just an assistant. The job was quite simple, but hectic. After two months, you were doing everything for your boss… for the great commander of the Paranormal Liberation Front. Re Destro was really happy about your work and he applied you to an even better position. The personal assistant of Tomura Shigaraki. Your work got even more hectic and you practically became Shigaraki’s shadow. And if you accidentally had some free time, you still followed Shigaraki like a puppy. A puppy… with white rabbit ears and a small white rabbit tail. Such a perfect assistant!
First weeks in the new position were… awkward. Your office was in his. You just had a small desk with a computer, calendar and a phone. You just sat all day by the desk and arranged his schedule to his likings. That meant changing his schedule all the time, because he was lazy and then making excuses and calling everyone from his meetings. But after quite a lot of days you started to know each other’s presence. You memorized his favorite meals and his favorite coffee. And he stopped being so whiny, so you had less work with his schedules. Things were getting better. You followed him to every meeting taking notes of the important things and every time you were walking in the hallway, his big hand rested on your back. Always. Every walk with him by the hall. When you sat by your desk and arranged a new meeting for him, he always went to you after the call and looked at his schedule, while slightly holding your thigh. When you got him coffee, he always slightly stroked your ass and the back of your thighs and asked about his next task.
These slight touches slowly became grasps and firm holds. Your whole day routine changed to be in more contact with him. “Good morning sir.” you chirped and put his coffee in his favorite place. “Thank you darling.” He mused and slapped your ass. “What are we dealing with today?” “Just a meeting with the league members at 2 pm. That’s all for today.” You smiled and felt his hand traveling under your short skirt and pinching one of your cheeks. You squealed and jumped a little, your tail twitching. “You forget something.” Tomura said firmly. “T-that’s all for today… sir.” You mumbled and he grabbed your hips, pulling you into his lap. “Such a good girl.” He mused and your ears lowered a little. Praising was always your weak spot. His hand wandered from your ass to your knee and back. He squished your thighs and looked at some documents. “Maybe we should try something new.” He looked at you. Hunger and lust in his eyes and a raging problem in his tight pants. You gulped. One of his hands trailed to your face, stroking your cheek and stroking your lips with his thumb. “I always wondered how your cute and little mouth would feel on my cock. Get to work darling. So you can go back to your work as soon as you can.” He smiled at you, his eyes almost hypnotizing you. “Y-yes sir.” You whispered and got onto your knees under his desk. You always liked him… admired him, his power. Your soul always screamed when he touched you. Always wanting more. Your hands gently unzipped his pants, your ears lowering to your head and your tail twitching with excitement. You pulled down his pants and boxers to reveal his raging boner. It was… Thicker than you expected. He had beautiful veins on his full length and his scent… Oh god. It was even more hypnotizing than his eyes. And his heavy balls full to their brim ready for release. You gently licked his cock and then took him in your mouth. “Mm. I have my new favorite sight.” He grinned and watched as your head bobbed on his dick. From this perfect state startled Shigaraki a knock on the door. “Come in.” He said while smiling at your surprised look and gesturing you to keep up. Another assistant walked inside. “W-where is your assistant?” On Tomura’s face appeared a shit eating grin. “She went on a quick break. What is it?” “We got new information about heroes’ patrol shifts.” “Great. Put them on her desk.” He mumbled and after a while you heard the door closing. You met his ruby eyes and smiled. He chuckled and relaxed. His hand stroked your ears and grabbed your hair. He started guiding your head to his favorite rhythm, making you gag. Such a beautiful sound and view. After this joyful moment you felt him tense up. His hand pulled you into his groin, his pubic hair tickling you. You squeezed your eyes shut and felt his cock squirting semen into your throat, making you gag even more. He loosened his grip and you pulled away gulping for air. “I have a new daily task for you.” He grinned. “I’m glad sir.” You smiled.
After this encounter, every day was wilder. Your throat was sore everyday, but it was worth it. But this time Tomura decided to push this encounter into something even more. You finally had a free afternoon and you don’t even know how it happened. The sound of wet skin slapping echoed through his office room. You laid on your clean desk, his hands firmly holding your hips. The scent of making out masked your senses and his grunts were the only thing you could hear. You grabbed his tie and lowered him to you kissing his lips. Tomura smiled. “Such a good assistant… ugh… We need to do this more. Imagine me bending you over. Fucking you in front of a mirror. Or in front of the windows. Or in the meeting rooms.” Your ears twitched. “Oh, you would like that? Yeah? My cute slut would like that?” He grinned and kissed your nipples. You mewled and your back arched. All of this was too much for you. The knot in your abdomen finally snapped and you slightly squirted on his shirt. “Oh fuck.” He mumbled and admired your exhausted body. He grabbed your ass firmly and sped up. He huffed, towering above you. He kissed you feverishly and came right inside your cunt. He mused happily and slowed down. He picked up the phone and gave it to you. “Call and get me a new shirt.” You smiled and dialed the phone. After a while, someone knocked on the door. You slowly got up leaving his embrace and his softening cock. You arranged your clothes and picked up his clothes. “Here sir.” You smiled and gave him the shirt.
Since then you were fucking like rabbits. That fits you, right? You were fucking everywhere you could, missing some appointments and dealing with it later. You sat on his lap cockwarming him, while he thought about his new plans. Sometimes he fucked you only to torture you by making you call and arrange meetings while your session. The only one who knew about your little affair was Schuichi. You once stayed after your shift, only for a make out session. You ended up stuck in a room with cleaning products. It was small and cramped, but you still fit in there. You were pushed against the wall and your legs were around his waist. He fucked you up the wall not wanting to stop. “I… Got you something.” He huffed and kissed your neck. “What is it sir?” You smiled at him. And then you felt it. A fabric around your neck. You looked at him. “It fits you well.” You take it in your hands and look at it. It was white collar with a name sewn on it. It said: “Bunny”. You smiled. “Thank you so much.” I beamed and kissed him passionately. Your faces were met with a big stream of light. Schuichi stood by the opened door looking flabbergasted with an open mouth. You felt your cheek heat up and you hid your face in Tomura’s chest. “I just wanted… to get the new markers.” Schuichi mumbled and Tomura handed them to him and closed the door back. Then he bursted laughing and you chuckled. You never noticed why Schuichi needed these markers. Maybe for one of these meeting rooms?
Time flew by and you started living with him. Assisting him every minute of his life. Your relationship was now official and the league was happy for Tomura. You snuggled into him sitting with the league on the couch on a movie night. Tomura smiled and toyed with your bunny tail. You blushed and cuddled into him. He lowered to you and whispered into your ear.
“I can’t wait for the night to breed your tummy to the brim.”

A/n: Thank you so much for reading this! I stitched this up just from my kinky thoughts from lonely nights. And here is a little secret! I'm planning another oneshot from an office AU, where reader is the boss and Tomura is a hardworking employee in a need of a reward!

MHA Yandere Lists: Types of Darlings They'd Go After
Content Warning: yandere, kidnapping, obsessive & possessive behavior
The Shy Darling - Oh dear, you are just too precious, aren’t you? So shy and innocent. So meek and submissive. Honeyed words or just the simplest touch is enough to make you an embarrassed and flustered mess, and these Yanderes revel in that fact. Your timidness, while endearing, causes for concern, however. There’s no way you’ll be able to make it through life on your own with the way you are now. They’ve seen first hand how cruel and dangerous the world can be, and the last thing they want is to see you swallowed up whole. Let them handle the hard stuff, okay, honey? They’ll take care of everything from now on. Just be a good Darling and accept their “help”.
| Dabi, Denki Kaminari, Eijiro Kirishima, FAT GUM, Himiko Toga, IZUKU MIDORIYA, Mezo Shoji, Midnight, Mina Ashido, MIRIO TOGATA, Natsuo Todoroki, Nejire Hado, Sero Hanta, Shoto Todoroki, TAMAKI AMAJIKI, Tenya Iida, Tsuyu Asui
The Kind Darling - Your big-hearted nature and empathy for others is what drew them in. We need more people like you in this world, so why wouldn’t they feel the urge to protect you? You’re just so considerate and caring… They need that kind of warmth in their life. They crave your gentle caress as you tell them everything will be alright… Can’t you give them at least that much? They just might use your kindness against you, guilt-tripping you into staying with them. You wouldn’t leave someone in need of comfort hanging, right? No, Darling…you wouldn’t.
| ALL MIGHT, Hawks, Izuku Midoriya, Momo Yaoyorozu, Kyouka Jiro, Mr. Compress, Natsuo Todoroki, OCHAKO URARAKA, Present Mic, Re-Destro, Shota Aizawa, SHOTO TODOROKI, SPINNER, Tamaki Amajiki, Tenya Iida, TWICE
The Fierce Darling - What a spitfire you are, sweetheart. You refuse to break, though that hardly deters the Yandere from pursuing you. From claiming what’s theirs. They like a good challenge, and turning you from a wild beast into a tame pet is sure to be a satisfying one. While they can’t wait for the day that you finally submit to them, they still love your unruly and rebellious attitude. It gives them a reason to punish you, and show you just how ridiculous it is for you to think you actually stand a chance against them.
| All For One, Dabi, Endeavor, KATSUKI BAKUGO, Midnight, MIRKO, Overhaul, Present Mic, Tomura Shigaraki
The Lonely Darling - At first, they pitied you. You lived alone, didn’t have any friends to hang out with, and no family members that wanted to reach out and see how you were doing. Your schedule was work, eat, sleep, and it pained the Yandere to see you live this way. You may think you’re not lonely, maybe even outright say you aren’t, but they can see right through you. They understand the feeling of having no one around for them, so it was only a matter of time before they decided to whisk you away to their home. You won’t be lonely any longer now, dear… They’ll always be there for you.
| Eijiro Kirishima, Fumikage Tokoyami, HAWKS, HITOSHI SHINSO, Izuku Midoriya, Mezo Shoji, Mr. Compress, Sero Hanta, Shota Aizawa, SPINNER, Tamaki Amajiki, Tomura Shigaraki, TWICE
~~~
Thanks for reading! Lemme know if there are any other MHA characters you want me to add to future lists!
The Shadow Deku is PLW!arc Deku, by the way. He still has his mask, but doesn't have his gauntlents or a cape, when in this arc Deku wore a cape and lost his mask before losing his gauntlets, the cape being the last thing he lost.
Tomura in this chapter takes forms of people who shaped his current Shigaraki self (oh hey, another hint at the fact that Shigaraki is a fictive identity insead of Tomura's genuine real self). Stain, Re-Destro, Overhaul - those weren't memories, those were Shigaraki taking on their forms and questioning Deku's intentions. Their lines together form an actual dialogue. 'You will die because of this. What do you want to achieve here? Do you have a plan?'
PLW!Deku (the one before Deku got into the Vestige World and saw inside Shigaraki's head) shaped Shigaraki's idea of Midoriya. PLW!Deku in Shigaraki's mind is a representation of Heroes. He beats him up, he exists to stand in the way of Shigaraki's dreams, he doesn't understand him, he's a True Hero (negative, since heroes in Shigaraki's mind are someone who can't and don't want to understand villains and sweep their pain under the rug).
Tumblr media
This connects to Shigaraki's evolution as a villain after Stain arc being jump-started by his disappointment in Midoriya, too. Izuku outright said that he doesn't understand Tomura (just like All Might didn't at USJ), confirming to Shigaraki that True Heroes (and Midoriya was seen as a True Hero by Stain, just like All Might + Tomura watched Deku jump in to save All Might and help his enemy at the Sports Festival), heroes who would try to understand and help people like him don't exist. But PLW arc made that impression into reality, despite the opposite happening in Deku's mind afterwards.
mha characters cuddling their s/o and/or liking to listen to their s/o’s heartbeat
Would love if you chose maybe hawks, shiggy, and/or aizawa for this one please and thank you
I only got this request a few days ago, but I felt like writing this already, because it seemed like some simple fluff. I didn't do Aizawa, since I wasn't feeling it, but I did scenarios for the other two
~Hawks/Takami Keigo~
“(Name)! I need your help!” came a shout from the living room..
“I’m kinda busy at the moment, Keigo” you yelled back from the kitchen.
You were trying to finish one of your university assignments and it was starting to feel like this particular essay was kicking your ass.
“You really should take a break” a familiar voice whispered in your ear, which made you jump and yelp.
“Wow, you’re really tense” Hawks chuckled.
“Not funny Keigo, I need to finish this” you motioned towards your laptop.
“Oh come on, you need to take a break, you’ve been going at it for hours” Hawks said and massaged your shoulders.
You leaned back against his chest and looked up at him. He looked down at you and kissed you on the forehead.
“Fine” you sighed and got up, following him to the living room. “So what did you need?”
“Eh nothing, I just wanted you to get you to take a break”
You sighed and rolled your eyes. You knew he meant well, and he probably couldn’t have gotten you off the computer otherwise, but it was still just a tiny bit annoying.
You laid down on the couch, and Hawks laid down on top of you, leaning his head on your chest. You started picking all the little bits of dirt out of his wings, and you could feel him relax against you as you preened his wings with your hands.
Hawks was listening to your heartbeat as he laid on you and enjoying you preening his wings. Ever since he met you, listening to your heartbeat had become a habit of his. It always calmed him down, no matter how irritated or angry he was, and even if he wasn’t upset, it just made him feel very serene.
“Hey Keigo?” you asked.
“Yeah?” he muttered.
“Thanks for getting me away from the essay, I really did need to take a break” you yawned.
“No problem dove” he smiled.
“I-I think I’m gonna take a nap” you said as you had trouble keeping your eyes open. “Will you stay?”
“Of course” Hawks smiled as your hands rested on his back and you drifted off to sleep. “I’ll always stay with you”
~Shigaraki Tomura~
You were laying on the bed, when Tomura marched into the room, slamming the door shut behind him.
“What’s going on?” you inquired as he stomped towards you.
You didn’t get an answer, he just huffed and basically threw himself on the bed. You put your phone down and wrapped your arms around him as he basically laid half on top of you. He was like a super weighted blanket, a very weirdly shaped, unevenly weighted blanket.
Tomura wasn’t really feeling like giving you an answer. He just laid on you with his ear pressed on your chest, listening to your heartbeat. It was steady, rhythmic and strong, and just what he needed to calm himself. He just laid there, listening to your heartbeat with his eyes closed. It was such a pleasant sound, he never thought such a simple sound could bring him such tranquility.
“Why are you sulking this time?” you asked as you twirled his hair around your finger.
“I’m not” he grumbled.
“Mmmhmm” you muttered.
You just laid there with him on top of you, playing with his hair. It had changed color during his fight with Re-Destro, after Tomura remembered his past. He was still hurt after that fight and was covered in bandages.
You had been a bit hesitant about staying at the mountain villa, but it seemed to be okay with all the other League members so you didn’t argue about it. The next day, Tomura was to depart for the hospital in Jaku, so this would be your last night together for at least the next four months.
“I’ll miss you” you said and kissed the top of his head.
Tomura didn’t answer, but you could feel his body tense up a little. He still wasn’t used to the affection you showed him, even though he often sought it out. He never really asked for it, he just mostly positioned himself next to or in this case, on top of you, and stayed there until you gave him what you wanted. It was usually comfort of some sort, or cuddles or both.
“I’ll be back soon” Tomura assured.
“I know, but I’ll still miss you” you sighed.
“You’ll be fine” he said.
“You’ll come back to me, right?” you asked and petted his hair as you stared at the ceiling.
“Always” he said.
Tomura could hear your heartbeat getting faster just for a moment as he promised to come back to you. He’d always come back to you, even if there was nothing else to come back to, you would be there.
You hugged him closer. You trusted he’d come back to you.
Sex toys in public? Like having Dabi wear something under his clothes whilst in a meeting which’ll vibrate when he tries to join in, or ask a question ;)
No | rather not | I dunno | I guess | Sure | Yes | FUCK yes | Oh god you don’t even know |
"Firefly," Dabi knows he's fucked as soon as he hears Tomura's tone.
"We have a meeting in twenty minutes." He never thought he would be the one to have to dissuade his lover from sex in favor of work, but Shigaraki is way hornier now that his brain is not constantly swimming through his repressed trauma. Duster still catches his hips as he pulls out his clothes from their closet, as if he's going to wear anything besides his uniform while they're working. His lips go over his bare shoulder as he murmurs against his skin,
"It's going to be a boring meeting." It will be. This meeting is all keeping up to date on Detnerat and the Hearts and Minds party. All old MLA junk that they just like to be informed about, but not needing any of their input or oversight. Which means this will be painfully boring.
"You're the one who wanted to keep these on the schedule."
He hums in agreement. "But I can think of a way to make it more fun for us both." A hand moves to his ass, squeezing and making Dabi's nerves start to perk up and take an interest.
"We can't," but it's only barely a protest. They haven't played in public very often, not since Kamino, but he ended up being way more into that play than he thought he would be. Duster's lips latch onto the side of his neck, licking and sucking at his skin as he grinds into his ass so Dabi can feel that he's half hard and so, so fucking tempting. "Toga's snitch nose--"
"Toga already texted and said she's 'sick' and not going to be at the meeting today. Now, do you want to play, or do you want to keep making excuses and not get a chance to cum before we leave?"
Dabi whimpers and rocks back into his lover. "I wanna play."
///
Duster does let him cum, panting and trembling as he fingers him open and strokes his prostate as he murmurs a constant string of filth in his ear and then he uses a little more lube and slips a solid, medium sized plug into his body. It makes him fuller, not as full as his lover's cock, but still so good all the same. He's hazy and still desperate for more as Tomura pulls away and cleans him up, making him get dressed. Putting on the leather pants is torture, but he imagines that Tomura's not having a much better time with his cock half hard as he gets dressed too, but the large coat he always wears around during work hides him as well as Dabi's jacket does for him. The problem is, it's hot to be in all of those clothes when his quirk is already high from his need and arousal both. He doesn't know how he's going to get through this meeting without falling apart.
Especially not when they're only just walking out of their room when Tomura turns the vibrations on and Dabi nearly drops to the floor right there. As is, his legs are shaking badly as his lover catches his arm with a smug, "Come on, precious, we're going to be late.
"You're a bastard and I hate you."
"Don't get mouthy, firefly, or I'll ask Re-Destro to go over the budget reports too."
Torture. Dabi shuts his mouth and walks the best he can, and by the time they get to the meeting room he's glad that he gets to sit. He goes and sits in his chair without so much as a mumbled greeting and opens up his laptop so he can slump down and mostly hide behind it as he squeezes his thighs tight like that will distract from the vibrator moving inside of him.
Once they're all seated, Re-Destro gets started with the meeting, and thank fucking god he doesn't have to say a thing during it, because Dabi is certain that his voice would tremble and give him away immediately. As is, he's having such a hard time not squirming around as Tomura clicks the vibe to a higher setting. He can't hear the toy, though he's convinced he should be able to, positive that everyone else must be able to, as it tries to make his world unravel at the seams. It's a constant buzz for the time being, and he hopes that after a little while, he won't be feeling it so intensely anymore. Dabi tries to stay focused, to keep his breaths even, and the presentation goes on.
He's not expecting Tomura to turn the plug to his favorite pattern so quickly. The one that hits him with four short pulses at the highest intensity, before hitting the fifth and holding there for a few seconds before cycling low again and starting from the top. It goes from the second lowest intensity to the highest in a second and Dabi has to bite his lips hard to keep from crying out, nearly putting his head through his keyboard as he doubles over and his cock goes from half hard to aching and straining the seam of his pants in a matter of seconds.
"Uh, Dabs, you okay man?" Spinner asks and he wants to light himself on fire.
"F-fine."
"...You sure? You're smoking, dude."
Shit, shit, shit. "Fine. Just a headache. Keep going, I'm fine." He manages to sound unphased and actually forces himself to shrug out of his coat to try and get some relief from the heat. The others are still glancing over at him, but he pretends he's focusing on his notes again.
According to the little clock on the side of his screen he lasts five more minutes before Duster changes the pattern again to a constant cycle of hard high bursts that doesn't offer his sore prostate any relief at all, and trying to shift a little in his seat only ruins him more when it puts a sharper pressure along that bundle of nerves instead of taking it off. He sees Twice glance at him and knows that he can't draw any more attention by moving again, so he has to stay there as he feels himself leaking all inside of his pants. He's sure his underwear are soaked with precum at this point, and his thighs are shaking. He is barely breathing because every breath wants to turn into a moan and he can't, he absolutely isn't going to give himself away. He couldn't survive seeing the others look at him if he does.
But Tomura wants him to break, and the pattern changes again and the silicone starts to heat inside of him. His insides are already boiling and the constant buzz at max speed is too much. Dabi hides his face in his elbow as he pretends to cough as he can't fight it any longer, and his cock gives a pathetic twitch crushed in the confines of the tight leather and paints the inside with his spend, soaking him and leaving him humiliatingly sticky.
"Shit dude, you sound terrible."
"And you're red, do you have a fever? What? He looks fine to me!"
"Do you?" Tomura's voice is soft and even with false concern and if Dabi weren't desperately trying to not show that he's trembling through the aftermath of his orgasm as the plug keeps moving, he would have set him on fire. But right now he can't move, or say anything out of fear of taking a breath and sobbing as he goes so sharply overstimulated that his cock isn't even softening, staying half hard and hurting so badly because he can't possibly cum again so soon, but his body doesn't know what else to do but try to build to it while the pleasure keeps coursing through him. Duster moves over to him, pushing his hair back from his forehead and putting their foreheads together, a smug mirth shining in his eyes as he sees the desperation in Dabi's. "Hmm, you do feel hotter than normal."
"You can tell?" Spinner backtracks as soon as the words are out of his mouth. "Never mind, of course you can. He was working with Toga yesterday, wasn't he? Maybe he caught whatever she has."
"Could be." Tomura hums again, consideringly. "Have there been any other major developments that we should be aware of?" He asks Re-Destro.
"No, Grand Commander, we've covered the most important items on today's agenda."
"Alright, then why don't you compose a report for us, and we can call the meeting here today. I want to take him back to bed."
Evil conniving bastard.
"I--" he loses his words with a low whine as Tomura cycles to a new pattern before he tucks his phone back into his pocket and reaches for his elbow to start to help him up.
"You're definitely not 'fine', dude, go get some rest." Because of course everyone would buy that he's sick and trying to work anyway. Tomura pulls him up and Dabi stumbles, scared that somehow they'll see the mess he's made of himself or his half-hard cock as he does.
"Oh, firefly, are you feeling faint? Come here." And before he can protest, Tomura is handing him his coat back, and then picking him up. Dabi can't do anything but curl in tighter against his chest as the new angle lets the plug settle against a new spot and start humming its pleasure there. Tomura thanks the others for their work and carries him towards the door with the promise of 'taking good care' of him.
"Feel better soon! I don't think he was sick at all!"
[Electros plan]
{off screen post}
Joltik was so tired. The kind of tired that made your brain turn to mush inside your skull, that let the corners of your vision turn white. The kind of tired that wouldn’t go away.
The public hated them. Everyone hated them. And yet new vilgilantes popped up everyday, earning love and interest from the public. Paco, and now Juniper? It was pathetic. They did this before it was cool. Before it was common. What- do they just get all of the praise and attention, while Joltik fades into obscrurity. It wasn’t fair. People choosing this! They didn’t choose this!
Their vision goes completely white for they don’t know how long- it didn’t feel longer than a second- but it seemed to be morning, judging by the equipment lighting up, or maybe it wasn’t. They didn’t see sunlight anymore, their vision was far too degraded for that.
Their eyes almost immedaitly snapped to Electro, (HOW DID SHE GET IN!?)  who glowed like the sun should. She grinned, standing behind glass, in a room Joltik was yet to enter. She stood on her tippy toes, attempting to set up some TVs, with several more already organised.
“Oh hello! Decided to join us have you?”
She’d been in for a while- and they hadn’t noticed. They had failed- no- not entirely. Not yet.
The jerk upright- their only goal now is to get to her. To get her.
“I can’t believe you sleep with you eyes open! Freaky!”
She giggled, adjusting the last TV, and moving to connect some wires.
Joltik reached the door, but yanking on the handle revealed it was locked. Electro tuts, sitting down on a swivel chair and sliding to a large computer in the room, typing faster than what seemed to be humanly possible.
“You’re not allowed in yet! I’m not done! You should’ve invested in some more sleep- you look terrible hah-”
Joltiks fists clench, attempting to smash the glass, in one swing. It doesn’t work. Even with their superhuman strength- it bounces off the glass, only leaving their hand throbbing. They look up at her, not in any humour for this.
“I fucking hate you.”
She turns around to face them at this, her face almost showing something akin to disappointment.
“Oh- I know. I know you do.”
At that moment, the door clicks open, seemingly for no reason, and joltik rushes in without thought. They lunge at her- only for her to take a step back onto the a wire carefully placed and glitch out of sight.
Joltik blinks.
What.
The door clicking closed again sickened them to their stomach. Turning revealed her.
Outside of the room. Standing on a wire, grinning wider than ever, some sort of remote in her hand. She walks up to the glass as the tv’s flicker to life.
“Oh I didn’t think you’d fall for that! But hey- Thank you for making this easy!”
Joltik frantically looks around the room, turning in a small circle. They were trapped. Their head began to sting as their joltik senses fired off, everything was wrong. So wrong. This was bad.
All of the TV’s begin to play the same footage. Black and white security footage of their last fight with electro. The villains on the screen begin to bicker.
Electro grins maniacally, rocking on her feet. Everything was falling into place perfectly.
Joltik walks to the oppisite side of the room, where a large sturdy looking machine sits, attempting to pull it apart yeilded the same results as trying to damage the window. Yet they keep trying.
The TVs playing joltik yelling out "You think I wanted this? Any of this? YOU THINK I WANT TO SPEND MY TIME FIGHTING YOU!?" makes them freeze.
Electro continues her monolouge.
“That really made me think, bug guy. I thought you wanted this- you wanted to be some sort of hero- but you sound bitter. You sound angry.”
Joltik gets back to attempting to break the glass dividing them,
“I am angry- LET ME OUT!”
“I’ve looked over your account, and honestly. I’m doing you a favour here.”
Joltik continues punching the glass, feeling something crack in their hand. Electro hears it and winces, tilting her head
“See- you’re destroying yourself- You always have, always will.”
The TVs start to play different footage this time, it seems like a compalation of joltik being injured, or hurt in their line in their work, including the infamous fight with minskt. She seems to have put a lot of work into this.
“I used to want to use this machine on myself- undo the rotom hybridity that was gifted to me, but I think you’re a much better candidate.”
Joltiks blood runs cold
“What.”
“Once this is over you’ll be normal! Just like you want! Just like you’ve always wanted!”
She begins to click buttons on the remote. The machine behind them making ‘power up’ noises
“NO – I DON’T WANT THAT- I DO NOT WANT THAT”
“Oh but you do! And your friends do too! It’ll be so much better for both of us. You’ll get what you want and I won’t have to deal with you bothering me anymore!!”
“LET ME OUT PLEASE PLEASE- PLEASE STOP THIS LET ME OUT!”
Electro giggles, before turning to joltik, any fun in her expression gone,
“It will hurt less if you’re still.”
With that the machine comes to life.
It was hard to tell if their screams were louder, or the machine itself.
"It struggles but it still obeys" -- OPM webcomic chapter 150 review
Summary
The trap we've been waiting to see sprung has finally started to close. Everywhere we look, the triumphant Neo Heroes are stopping, stuttering, and freezing, their pupils fixed and dialated like a corpse's. Then, they move, reanimated to a new existence, one they have no control over. Only lucky individuals who've modified their suits in some way -- or had them broken -- have escaped. And as Accel, Puri Puri, and Amai Mask will testify, the new Neo Heroes attack former allies savagely on sight.
Tumblr media
Elsewhere, we see Genos encounter 'Boros's' brain-dead corpse. It has been kept functional on life support in the second of Metal Knight's labs. Noting that the creature is an incredibly powerful one that can't be allowed to rampage. Genos nevertheless feels for it: it's being kept alive to fight. Like him. While Google Translate isn't the best, the translation it comes up with, of Genos saying that at least one of them should have an easy escape when he moves to kill 'Boros', really hits hard.
We see how clearly Genos sees the situation he's in. The rampaging cyborg screwed him out of his past and any social context. Dr Kuseno screwed him out of a future. And now Saitama, the lackadaisical, uncaring Saitama, has been screwing him out of any chance to salvage anything of value out of his situation. Damn straight he's angry.* And in a hurry. There better be a kindly deity willing to pour cooling water on Dr Bofoi's soul, for unless there's a miracle of understanding to stay Genos's hand, that soul is about to be parted from its body with flames so hot it'll arrive in the afterlife still on fire.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the lackadaisical Saitama, he's been doing a good job of eliminating the robots wherever he's encountered them. Blue follows the trail of the storm of robot parts he's been flinging hither and thither and accidentally gets steam-rollered by Saitama. That's where the chapter ends.
Tumblr media
When we'll continue, your guess is as good as mine.
Meta
Insects. That's all that people are worth to The Organization. It's been nearly three years since I first pointed out the difference between the cyborgs we'd been seeing to date to what the Neo Heroes were doing. I brought up this harrowing reality of using insects as cyborgs and forcing them to move according to an operator's instructions:
youtube
"It struggles but it still obeys," is what the lead scientist says. In the story, we see human beings living this reality. Raiden must have incredible willpower: despite everything, he's able to stutter a few words to Puri Puri, begging the latter to save him from his torment even as he rains blows down on the hero.
Tumblr media
Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePunchMan/comments/1agdu1y/translation_of_raidens_muttering_webcomic_spoiler/
For luckless souls who fall into the tender mercies of Erimin and Destro and their 'recovery' capsules, there's an even crueler fate waiting. I'll save that for another day. We'll find our way back to what's happening at Neo Hero HQ in time.
Yes, we the readers have been sitting on high being fed the answers to the evil behind the Neo Hero facade. We may not know who is ultimately responsible, and we may not yet know why, but we know a lot and a lot looks 'obvious' to us. However, the characters in the story can only discover the reality based on the evidence they actually have access to and what they already know/think. ONE is very strict on rules of evidence. If it's taken various individuals until now to start to know, it's not because they're stupid. Never think that, oh person given the answers from the back of the book.
Tumblr media
The question is what are the individuals who have begun to understand what's happening going to do? They're all scattered in a deeply hostile and dangerous world -- and there isn't much time to do something before civilization is too broken and cowed to function.
That is, of course, the most urgent problem. Speaking of saving civilization, is the Hero Association going to be saved? But there are other urgent problems. Like, one cannot help but worry that Dr. Bofoi is the wrong target to eliminate. He surely deserves some karma but it may well be a gross miscarriage of justice. What's going to happen there? What's going to happen with 'Boros' (I'm not going to take away the quotations until the critter has a mind of his own again)? And really, who truly is behind all this and what do they want?
Tune in sometime in the future to find out.
Aside
*Yes, I have a lot more to say about this, but I need first to set the context to what I'm going to say. So look for additional meta. Nag me if I'm tardy!
Hello again. I want to discuss AFO AUs. I thought of the second one after reading some of your recent fanfics where you have AFO's mom in them. 3 AFO AUs:
Truth Hurts More Than Lies:-Early in AFO's life, he's cursed by a quirk user who had a power that can place a single restriction on someone, permanently. He's no longer able to tell lies and must correct misunderstandings if he realizes them.
His radical honesty wins him more favors than before. As he can't be a hidden manipulator, he instead has the personality of a bombastic podcast host who says whatever is on his mind and his hot takes attract followers who think like him. Given he can't deceive, he's instead honest in all dealings and doesn't plot to betray people. Mommy Knows Best:-Aoyama is one of many children gifted copies of AFO's mom's quirk. AFO provides detailed instruction and training in mastering the quirk to people who receive it. In fact, this is a vector so she can take over the bodies of these kids and become his spies and enforcers. AFO runs an organization staffed primarily with copies of his mother.
A World Of Liberation:-Destro's mother finds baby Yoichi and AFO and raises them as her own kids along with Destro. After AFO foils an attempt to murder her, the three brothers decide enough is enough.
Yoichi, Destro, and AFO all have very different ideas of what the end game will look like once they've won, but they're leaders in the revolution.
1. Oh dear, people actually might like AFO more as an honest asshole. He'd be able to retain employee loyalty. Scary thought. AFO's biggest weakness is being unable to keep people loyal to him.
2. An evil mother and son duo! Also a scary option because AFO would not fear employee betrayal since he replaced everyone with his mother. Poor Aoyama. If this is Dad for One, I imagine the Shigaraki mother as Aoyama attending U.A. and acting weirdly grandmotherly over Izuku.
3. This is a really interesting one! With a Yoichi-Destro-AFO team-up, this could go better than canon. Or it could ultimately turn out worse, as their ideals inevitably clash and civil war erupts. At least Yoichi doesn't have to worry about Destro falling in love with him in this AU.
So, My Hero Academia Chapter 387 (MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD)...
That was a really, really good chapter, but hoo boy that fucked me up real bad and I need to get some thoughts off my chest before I go to sleep.  Tumblr is the best place to post this; I’m not spending $8 on Twitter Blue to type this out.
First off, more eugenic stuff yay...  This time with Rei’s family, the Himuras.  So, turns out that Geten (the ice villain following Re-Destro) is a part of that family which means that he’s the Todoroki’s cousin at best.  I think Rei would’ve said something if he was her brother.
And that the Himura’s have been inbreeding to keep their bloodline “pure” and their ice Quirk in tact...  And forced marriages were also desperate attempts to keep this in check.  UM WHAT THE FUCK, HORIKOSHI???  I’m not saying this is a bad thing story-wise, but it makes the Todoroki Family situation so, so much worse if that was even possible.  And sadly they’re not the only family to do this...
So, if Rei was a product of inbreeding, then (and correct me if I’m wrong) the Todoroki children are technically inbred too on top of being born out of a quirk marriage to begin with INCLUDING SHOUTO WHO’S BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH (I need to clarify that I’m not criticizing Rei or her kids, it’s not their faults. I’m criticizing the practice of inbreeding itself).  I feel ill just thinking about that.  This is some royal family shit that should never be a thing to begin with.  I don’t care if marrying your 2nd cousin shouldn’t fuck up the kids too badly, it’s still extremely fucked up period!  This is honestly worse than the quirk marriage imo and that was bad enough as it was.  I kind of wish Horikoshi didn’t include this because it’s sadly kind of warpping my perception of them, but I’m not going to fly over to Japan and throw hands with him over it.
And this puts more context into why Rei chose to marry Enji because agreeing to be bought into a marriage with Endeavor to create the perfect offspring with Fire and Ice is somehow better than MARRYING YOUR FUCKING COUSIN AND HAVING A CHILD WITH THEM!  She never had a good choice to begin with; she just chose the best one that was given to her.  God, I feel bad for this woman.
I honestly need a few days to process this because it was dropped so casually and now I need to sit down and think of the implications of it while working on my finals 🥲
Onto Dabi who is fighting his dad with like half of his body remaining.  How the hell this man is alive is a goddamn mystery because he looks like a burning skeleton.  And this whole thing has caused his Quirk to evolve to the point where he’s now producing ICE ❄️!  HE HAS AN ICE QUIRK NOW TOO!  IT’S EXACTLY THE THING ENDEAVOR WANTED THIS WHOLE TIME AND NOW HE HAS IT IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE!  I WANT TO SCREAM!  SHOUTO AND DABI ARE REALLY 2 SIDES OF THE SAME COIN!
There really is no way of knowing if Touya would’ve unlocked this part of his Quirk if he trained more with Endeavor, but the fact that he actually had the potential to become exactly what he was born for is devastating.  He could’ve been what his father wanted him to become, but his Quirk was too dangerous to himself to try.  If this happened, Natsuo and Shouto might not have been born (I’m glad they were born tbh), but at least the family would’ve been spared a shit ton of trauma.
Oh, and it looks like that massive fire punch he threw at Endeavor completely burned off his right arm and now he’s right armless like Endeavor.  That one panel of them “dancing” with right fire arms is haunting.  You could write a whole short essay on that panel.  Horikoshi loves parallels and I do too.
Honestly, I really expected Horikoshi to just kill off Endeavor and Dabi at the same time this chapter.  It looked like that’s where it was going.  There are a lot of ways their fates could be going and I can see it happening all those ways.  Personally, I want them to live at least until Shouto finally gets there.  I think Horikoshi is setting up that “Todoroki Family Reunion” he’s been planning since Chapter 300 or something especially with Rei entering the battle field.  What happens next is something we’ll have to wait for.  I want Endeavor to live honestly.  But, I can definitely see Dabi dying at the end because I really don’t think he’s going to survive at this rate.  Horikoshi cooked him too well 😂😭.
And finally REI TODOROKI!!!  The block or whatever her and her family were being transported in was stopped right below Gunga Mountain last chapter and they were forced to go up to the surface to make sure they avoid Dabi’s fiery explosion.  That’s why she’s up on the surface to begin with.  I do want to know how the hell she got to the battlefield so quickly though.  I don’t see her as a fighter, but maybe she trained her Ice Quirk to glide on it like Shouto does.  I’m really curious to see what she does because she does hold some responsibility for how Dabi turned out and I think she’s trying to atone in a way too.  This better not mean she’s dying though.  I don’t need the Todorokis to deal with more trauma, especially Shouto.
Anyways, there’s a lot to unpack in this chapter and there’s probably more to dive into.  Um, I’m glad to see Mr. Compress again like Horikoshi promised.  He’s probably still assless though.  Where are the 2nd year UA students you promised, sir???  But, yeah, the Todoroki drama continues to be more and more fucked up by the weeks.  Please let this family have peace one day I’m begging  🙏.
The reason why the AM suit and Iron Man suit are not the same thing And Izuku will never be like Tony Stark.
okay ! I know we've talked about this AM suit. There's 1A's special move that looks like an advertisement for people to recycle plastic bottles. And this complaint of mine has nothing to raise other than just complaining. So I apologize in advance, let's get started.
Why aren't the AM suit and Iron Man suit not the same thing?
The answer for me is Iron Man suit that was created has a unique set of abilities. But there will be a main attack move that we will see often from movies and the MCU that can be seen releasing beams of light from the palm. or from the middle of the chest Hell, even the suit built to fight Hulk in the movie isn't even the same as the AM suit! So what's good about the AM suit besides being a disposable copy of Class 1A's attack moves? oh ! Hori, when you say that the 1A students will have another role, is this just AM using their powers through the suits they created? It's just that the AM suit doesn't even have anything distinctive to fight with the Iron Man suit. Damn it! I'm not including the story that this manga is based on Hero society. There aren't even any brightly colored superheroes left. After all, the AM suit is a clear copy of Re Destro, isn't it?
Midoriya Izuku will never be a hero like Tony Stark.
Answer: Izuku is nothing like Tony! I mean Izuku has nothing even though he's smart. Analyze other people's special powers, but that's all. Even in the world of MHA, technology can do it so well that people with missing organs have prosthetics to support them. (Mr. Compes Mirko, UA teacher and Re destro) For many people it would be like that. Don't worry! Even though Izuku is missing an arm, he still has a prosthetic arm using OFA. Don't worry! He went and created a suit like Tony's in the MCU and he can be a hero! oh ! What a joke! There will never be a time when Midoriya Izuku will be a hero like Tony. Tony is smart, he created the Iron Man suit. I mean created with technology and his brain! Tony knows which suit does what. He made it out of screws. The first and the last screw! He knows the advantages and disadvantages of it. It's not because he only has money! He can become a hero with the Iron Man Suit. Midoriya Izuku is just smart, but can he repair watches or repair TVs? no ! Oh, but he also has Melissa Shield or Hasume Mei, so one of those two can do it. Have you forgotten that this is the reason why Izuku can't be like Tony? I don't think having Izuku have to wait for someone to make him a costume in order to fight would be fun. Because it's like I'm going to fight the villain now. But what is in this set? I can't remember. Okay, I think I've complained enough. I really wanted to curse Horikoshi.
A little smth I just noticed (I could very well be wrong but if I’m not it’s a fun detail) possessed Shigaraki seems to be associated with capes? He gets one during the first war, has that dramatic drape when fighting Star and Stripe, and now he had one until he shedded it along the rest of his weird finger skin when he went back to Tomura. AFO apparently really enjoys looking dramatic lmao. And also adds to his uncanny godly vibe I suppose
Oh but you're missing so much more! Tomura's not just associated with capes...he's associated with symbols of heroes!
Like how he wanted to be a hero as a child. How he connected with Nana through his being a descendant of a hero. How Nana wore a cape.
How the cape he wears in the Paranormal Liberation War is stolen off the back of a hero he kills.
How he wears a hero's mask in the form of blood when fighting Re-Destro.
Tumblr media
It's less to do with AFO and more to do with Tomura himself! Note that AFO himself doesn't wear any of these symbols. No, these are images meant for Tomura and Tomura alone.
Consider how capes are for "wrapping up scared children in warmth" according to Mirio as food for thought.
Perhaps we're meant to take it as him being a heroic figure to all the villains.
Perhaps we're meant to take it as a symbol of the hero he could have been had his childhood turned out differently.
Perhaps we're meant to see the distorted hero from the "other side of the same coin" to Tomura's villainy.
Perhaps it's a symbol of things to come in the future.
Perhaps all of the above. Who knows?
Some Vain Attempt At Giving Every Member of Class 1-A (plus one more) a 'Nemesis' Pt. 2 of 3 - MLA Edition
The second edition of my posts in my, as you can see, vain attempt to give every person in Class 1-A (plus, one more) a Nemesis/Rival Villain that's League-affiliated!! First one can be read here!
In this rendtion, it's five of the 'upper echelon' of Class A paired with the five Executives of the Meta Liberation Army! Bit more in depth when it comes to these guys, so hope it becomes a nice read for you all!
Trumpet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For this one, I raise you Koda. Narrative wise, Koda and Trumpet serve as not really frontline or distance fighters, but ones best at support using their voices to command others to do their bidding. Like most on this list, it comes down to how they use their powers and their personality themselves.
For Koda’s arc, its pretty much just an enhancement of the small one he gets in the main story, which is overcoming his shyness to become bolder. If I had to make a small adjustment, I’d probably have this impetus for being a Hero, being reassured and helped by a Pro Hero like how Jiro helped him back in the Final Exam arms. Probably Hound Dog, who could also be like a mentor to Koda that helps him to have more confidence in himself (and leans into UA having a good guidance counselor). Honestly, from there, probably have him be even more of a friend to Jiro, since I really think they could have had an even deeper bond than before.
As for Trumpet, how I would focus on it has to do with why he joined the MLA in the first place. He would be a Shinso situation, someone who had good intentions, but society distrusted him. In his case, he was a politician trying to operate genuine noble reforms, but when people found out about his Incite quirk, his popularity fell due to fear of him essentially ‘forcing’ people to join him - even though he never used his Quirk at all. Re-Destro, though, sympathized with him and basically offered an extended hand. “If the world rejects you just because of your ability, why not join us, embrace your power instead of rejecting it and make a new world that would accept it.” Re-Destro became his light and with the MLA’s help, formed the Hearts and Minds Party to become the political juggernaut he is in today. Though, its become clear what principles he did have was discarded for supporting Re-Destro’s liberation ideology, becoming a bit of a hypocrite and letting his new role as apart of RD’s quartet go to his head.
In this timeline, this is a Trumpet who escaped the Villa raid and was a mess (in this timeline Re-Destro was beaten at the Villa while his posse escaped). He lost the light of his life and had to organize a group of stragglers, while coming to grips with the fact he lost all the progress he worked up to until now in one day. But…perhaps he can salvage it? Spinner…how he hated that man with his weak Quirk. Who nearly killed him!!! But, he’s a light himself. Using his Incite Quirk, Trumpet fastens himself a sympathizer to the Heteromorphic cause - anything that allows him to free Re-Destro and have his Liberation dream come true. Alongside Spinner and Neptune (...oh, and the Advisors are there too~), they charge to Central Hospital to take back Kurogiri, with his Quirk amplifying the mob’s power and dropping their ability to reason. Having them still fight even when hurt by the police or when its clear they need to pull back to stop their injuries from being life threatening.
I feel like there could be a cool introspection with how both use others to obtain results, with Trumpet even pointing that out between them if they ever were to meet and even applaud Koda for it. After all, when it comes to the greater good, aren’t sacrifices of one’s soldiers needed to gain victory? But the deciding factor that would put Koda in the right and eventual victory over Trumpet is his empathy - while he asks for help, he tries his hardest to not get his animals hurt and factors that in. In short, valuing tactical, beneficial to all uses. However, Trumpet has no true care for those that work for him, at least those that aren’t apart of his inner circle/Re-Destro. So how does this come to play? During Koda’s confrontation of Trumpet, he’s pinned down and mic mask taken away, as well as mouth shut. But when his Quirk awakening happens, it allows his true feelings to still wash over nearby animals - to go after whose really at fault. Instead of attacking the crowd, people who just want their grievance heard, they all converge onto Trumpet. Or rather, Trumpet’s mask and mic, taking it away from him. Similar to Mic, Trumpet, vulnerable and fully afraid of the hoard, passes out. Thus, negating his Quirk and allowing the mob to properly reason if what they're doing is right without being riled up. Leading to a case where some of the mob do still follow Spinner, some are staying back conflicted and some are very upset at the PLF side of things pushing them this far.
True, when it comes to war, there’s hardly a case where both sides don’t come out without losing some people. But one should still have consideration for even your ‘lower’ allies no matter what and work to ensure they are used in the best possible way. That’s what separates a good tactician from an awful one. Something Trumpet will stand to learn as he reunites with Re-Destro in prison. At least happy with his light once again.
Curious
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Curious’ rival, Mina’s up! Now, off the bat you can already recognize a pretty blatant reason for such a situation given their designs. Both have differently colored skin with dark eyes, resembling more of an alien than anything and their personalities are also fairly similar: both are spunky extroverts that can’t help but get in the thick of things with a curiosity for their peers. Heck if you didn’t know any better, you could probably mistake Curious as being Mina’s big sister, mother or aunt in a way!
But what is going to bring these two together for this line-up? Well, the theme I’m setting up for them is grievance of justice within the system. What we know of Mina is that she did have the heroic spirit to intervene and save way back in middle school, such as saving a kid (and even reforming some bullies) or getting in the way of Gigantomachia by lying to him to save two other peers as well. It’s admirable and I want to make that more apart from her character. Perhaps her backstory here that led to her trying to be a Hero was learning early on that she had to take a stand, if not for herself than for others, since people tried to bully her and her friends for looking different or having ‘troublesome Quirks’ (think about it. It's Acid as a Quirk, that probably is going to be a bit of a stigma growing up). Wanting to be someone people can look up to, that can tackle conflict and bring people together head-on, she sought to do so as a Pro Hero.
As a ‘meddlesome Hero’ her journey in UA, could have her struggle with dealing with just how much of the systems wants to control that spirit of hers and discourage her sense of justice into being their standard. From having her code name be denied for a more marketable Pinky, to possibly dealing with Yoroi Musha who interferes with her actually talking down a Villain (who was going to surrender) by knocking them out instead. Trying to instill in her that it is not a hero duty to ‘care for the fallen’ but for the ‘interest of the public’. You can imagine the complicated and hurt feelings she gets when Yoroi decides to retire because of his image, and yelling at him for being so awful.
As for her relationship with Midnight, perhaps the teacher sees herself in Mina, being so gungho and expressive about justice in her own way, but having to deal with a system that wants its reputation maintained first (such as the debacle with her first Hero outfit). As such, she could apologize for the name issue before and genuinely try to mentor Mina figuring out ways to both be herself while not letting the current institution get her down. Heck, even find ways to get around the system like she did! It could make losing Midnight hurt that much more later on, as she could genuinely have been considered Mina’s ‘All Might’ for a while.
As for Curious, the reason she joined the MLA has to do with her own justice having her take on the path of an investigative journalist. During this time, she uncovers many scandals of Pro Heroes: from Heroes causing accidents that cost people their lives to heroes instigating people into fights and making them out to be Villains. Not to mention some shady dealings of the HSPC, leads of embezzlement, and corruption to various industries throughout Japan, even the government. But, as you can imagine, trying to expose them is no simple feat. Everytime she tries, pressure from the HSPC has her works censored and stories rejected. Eventually to the point, she is even, even threatened with blacklisting to get her compliance. In distress, and wanting to do more, its her interview with Re-Destro that not only reignites her passion for her work, but instead channels it to working it towards the MLA’s favor as his inspires her curiosity to run rampant for the truth. Well, her truth now! If Hero Society wants to control the narrative as they feel fit, why shouldn’t she and her new comrades seek to try to do some story control as well?
Curious, naturally, sees herself in Mina when she confronts her. Perhaps she hitches a ride on Gigantomachia for the story of a lifetime and, together with Compress, is able to fend off Heroes from getting ontop of Machia. It’s her landmine, combined with Compress’ debris, that results in Midnight being so beat up that she gets finished off by Skully (Dabi’s 2nd Adviser) and her notice of Mina’s hesitation when facing Machia has her be the subject of interest when her group faces off against the Junga Ruins Team. She is able to see that same spark in Mina, one who wants to do more and is stifled. She’s getting under her skin when pointing out her fear of Gigantomachia, and asking if Mina ever considered her hesitation might’ve cost people their lives because she didn’t put her vial in at that one moment. How nervous she must feel having the responsibility of the giant being released on her shoulders. Can she handle it? Perhaps its best if she gives up, after all if she’s anything like her than the ruin of a Society run by that horrible HSPC and its values allows her to do what she wants, right? She’s now in full control of the story - her life that she wants!
For Mina, she does note that Curious is right. She is free from how HSPC and Hero Society wants her to conform to…and its with that freedom she’ll settle things her way! With her dancing skills, she nimbly avoid Curious’ mines and melts her support weapon. All before quickly striking her down before she goes on to handle Gigantomachia, Skully and the Sludge Villain - which taxes a lot out of her. But before she passes out, she returns to a beaten Curious...and hugs her. Since she truly knows how it feels to be under pressure from corrupt people, and is genuinely sorry that happened to Curious. In an epilogue, while Curious is imprisoned, her original stories on the cases of corruption within the HSPC has finally come to light with many offenders and victims finally getting justice in the world. Something that has a certain former reporter giddy in excitement~
Skeptic - Kaminari
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A brain versus brawn dynamic? Exactly - though there another aspect in play here too! Kaminari and Skeptic are best known as being silly, yet dangerous, cornerstones of their group. People that are very to forget that they are dangerous when not making you laugh from their wit or comedic antics.
When it comes to Kaminari - whose role in Class A is pretty much the embodiment of a confident, goofy, teen - his arc would have to be more towards his growth concerning him being wiser in combat with such an all or nothing power. One of the early worldbuilding comments that weren’t elaborated much was how Elec types kind of have it easy when it comes to their power since its in such high demand. Perhaps Kaminari could be a staunch believer in the ‘Electric Dream’, not to say he’s a Quirk supremacist, but rather in that he thinks he doesn’t have to improve or grow much as a Hero since he has such a strong, well favored power. Which is a pretty funny mentality to have when his powers have a cognitive drawback + and no real way to control it to avoid hitting allies (least yet). He’s pretty much coasting and kinda taking things for granted, because (even when attacked by villains or in the SF arc), he still ends up ok or getting his beliefs validated in the form of so many Hero offers. Something that ends up irritating his friends in Momo and Jiro at times (the three of them I kinda want to make their own, even closer, trio).
So what changes? I think the change is the Training Camp arc in this, as he experiences actual survivor’s guilt for what happened. Jiro was knocked out and poisoned by Mustard, Momo injured by a Nomu, and one of his friends was kidnapped - and he couldn’t be there to help. All because he didn’t take his training seriously enough to pass his exam. Thus, this marks the start of him legitimately trying to be smarter with how he uses his Quirk and the Shooter method he gains later on, as well as wiser in terms of using his brain for more tactical methods in general.
Skeptic’s role here is to be the inverse of Kaminari. He’s cocky in relation to his IT talent and brain, instead of his Quirk. Basically, for why he joined the MLA, I want to take his allegiance as being as a result of Re-Destro being the one that properly recognized his skills and pushed for Skeptic to be apart of the board of Feel Good Inc. We know Skeptic had an issue with said board for being too old fashioned during the Second War, so I think it's a good angle of his origins for villainy being feeling ignored or pushed to the side in spite of his talents and new ideas, for people that just want to play it safe or overstepping their seniority (which is likely a mix of that and due to his attitude) It feels natural that he ends up falling in with someone who gives him the time of day. Though, that being said, its clear RD recruiting him into his upper circle has made Skeptic’s ego worse and not really prepared him for life in the MLA beyond his role. He thinks that he just needs to keep doing the same thing he's always been doing for RD, and doesn’t really bother improving much of his Quirk, even if he’s taking the bare minimum to put it into action, and certainly isn’t really considering he isn’t as infallible as he thinks he is. As such, he doesn’t take failure well and when he does get blindsided (by La Brava or Heroes) flies into utter panic. His arc leading into the Second War is believing that his mistake that cost him the man who saw potential in him, was not taking the MLA training seriously, meaning he couldn’t protect his boss well…so he seeks to correct it.
During the Second War, when Skeptic is hacked by La Brava, who comes to his area isn’t just Ketsubutsu and Hound Dog, but (in this version), Kaminari too. The latter of which has disabled his computers further. But, Skeptic isn’t done yet - with his Quirk he’d made even stronger, more resilient golems to attack the Heroes to hold them off until he gets his machines up and running. He’s learned from the First War and knows how debilitating Kaminari’s shocks are so made sure that, if he ever runs into Kaminari again, his creations can’t be neutralized so easily and makes doubly sure they protect him from any shocks. Thus, Team Kaminari is put on the back foot trying to get to him, with Kaminari in particular struggling to defeat them. At the last moment, he’s pinned down and about to be killed, when he fires a disc, missing Skeptic. Skeptic, thinking he flubbed his last move, gloats over his assured victory, but that’s when Kaminari reveals his last gambit: he deliberately shot it away from Skeptic… because his true target was his computer. With all of his energy, he channels it into one final shot that destroys the computer trying to make UA drop and makes it explode. Something that has the nice effect of knocking out Skeptic as well!
Both were people that were humbled for their ego during their careers in heroism and villainy, seeking to correct such mistakes that cost them so much. But, what both differ is the lengths in which they correct their errors. Skeptic only sees the physical side of his mistakes, not realizing his arrogance was the poison that led to everything going wrong for the PLF in the first place. As for Kaminari, realized the limitations of his Quirk and his own attitude, it was by working on both that he was able to get the win needed. As such Skeptic now learns such a lesson in confinement, at least using his stay in prison to lecture other IT start-ups on what not to do to wind up in his shoes/be successful (hey, he is good at his job, might as well give him some chance at still have some ways of positively affecting society~)
Geten
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next are the vice leaders of the MLA and Team Momo sides of things, those who hold the closest bond with their leader. It’s Kyoka Jiro against Geten, fighting for the sake of their closest friend-girlfriend/father figure. For their theming, it comes down to forging your own path beyond family legacy while still being just to yourself and your companions.
For Jiro, one of the things that was interesting (and never really developed on because fuck us) was that she desired to be a hero, in spite of her love of music and probably family expectations she’ll go down that path too. I want to make that her arc. Her parents are famous in the music biz, and while they were supportive of their daughter, Jiro constantly had to deal with people (from their fans or coworkers) expecting and even kinda pushing for her to continue where her parents left off. Thus, she ends up somewhat pushing aside her own musical interests in favor of proving she’s serious about Hero career, and  could have her be one of the snarkier or even jerkish of Class A at first, since its her way of trying to show off that she’s not someone joking about with her path. Or why she gets prickly when Kaminari or, seemingly, Momo try to coast or don’t understand how much effort is put into something.
Her arc, at its strongest in the Cultural Festival, is learning she can enjoy her own interests and still prove she’s a true-blue hero as well. She can march to her own tempo without having to prove that to anyone. I also imagine during this time as she bonds with Momo, she also realizes that she doesn’t have the full scope of what she’s been snarking at others for, in this case Momo having quite the ‘family’ being so negative at her back, and strives to be someone that can help others get their own ‘tempo’ as well without pressure from people to be anything other than themselves. As a side note, for what inspires her to be a Hero, perhaps its seeing Gang Orca, someone with a ‘rocking’ appearance and similar sound Quirk, saving the day inspires her to do the same and kinda be like him.
Her contrast is with Geten - someone who lives and breathes the dogma of his MLA family after separating from the Himura clan. On the surface, he’s going through something similar to Jiro here - basically someone choosing their own path in life instead of what their family does. He, too, is someone that’s determined to show their worth towards their new path in life, in his case being an MLA executive, by constantly training his Quirk off as a warrior. That said, like Jiro, its clear some effects of his old life stuck with him. In this case, the elitist aspect that has manifested in believing someone’s worth is tied to their Quirk’s power. In this storyline, I imagine Geten was recruited into the MLA fold at a young age after the Himura’s scattered, perhaps his own family was hit hardest by the separation and became dirt poor. So when Re-Destro and him crossed paths, it was just a major step up from his old life (with his own parents agreeing to part with Geten in exchange for better living conditions, kinda like Hawks’ mom). In addition, I imagine that with Re-Destro, Geten was probably aware of RD being, deep down, not as happy with the MLA than how he acted. But, instead of encouraging RD to break away for his own path or even think that's a possibility, believes that by being the perfect warrior and fulfilling the MLA’s dream he can make a world where RD is free to never have to worry about that pressure again. Hence him obsessively trying to get stronger for RD’s sake, much to the decay of his social, educational and even familial life at times (like to imagine RD is somewhat blaming himself for bringing Geten into the fold and turning him out like this)
Concerning Dabi, in this I imagine that, after hearing Geten is a Himura, Dabi gets the idea to include Geten in the Dabi expose video. Considering it a worthwhile venture in taking down Hero Society, Geten agrees and pretty much airs the Himura clan’s dirty laundry and past to really help sell the idea of a corrupt Hero going to a corrupt elitist family to start one of his own. Relationship wise, while I doubt Dabi and Geten would be friends, knowing both are technically family and are on the same side has made them more like vitriolic brothers than true hatred to each other.
In the First War, Jiro (who is overhearing a certain leader v leader) fight, hears Re-Destro venting about how Shigaraki needs to be the one to bring liberation and how RD can’t be the one to take the reigns again. Something that sticks with her when facing Geten in the Second War after he’s transported to Gunga by Kurogiri. Like the other MLA Executives, he escaped the battlefield last time, but was devastated after hearing RD’s capture. Angry over his father figure’s defeat, he joins on the fight to slaughter every Hero there - though ends up transported to Kamino Ward to fight off Heroes with the High End and Dabi. He would briefly assist Dabi with Shoto before Dabi insists on finishing things himself.
The duo hitch a ride on the Kurogiri taxi to Gunga, reigning down on the battlefield with fire and ice, but Geten ends up being separated from Dabi by Jiro as Endeavor and his son move away to fight. Geten proclaims he’s fighting for the future of Re-Destro, though it's here that Jiro reveals Re-Destro’s true feelings on the matter. Asking if Geten really thinks what he was doing was best for RD, and if he ever really considered if seeing the MLA succeeding would have really gotten his leader the relief he wanted.  Something that she gets through to him with a version of her amplifier jacks - sending off waves of her own sincere heart (alongside, you know, just knocking Geten’s eardrums for a loop XD). Disoriented with the truth and ears thoroughly rattled, Geten’s is unable to properly fight back with his ice, and is knocked out when Jiro delivers another blast of the truth to Geten: that the liberation RD needed was a life away from what he was born into. Something that has Geten in tears, regretting not realizing it sooner as he passes out.
Both were two people that were trying to take a path beyond what their family line had in store, and overcompensated with said paths. However, while Jiro was able to work through best of both worlds healthily in the end, and learn to see the troubles in what others were going through (and guide them to their best path), Geten took the extremes of both sides, leading him blind to the truth of his father as Apocrypha. As Geten is reunited with RD, he’ll have a chance to rekindle a new relationship with him, without the weight of the MLA souring things.
Re-Destro
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, it’s leader of the Meta Liberation Army versus, arguably, the true leader of the First Years of UA. It’s Re-Destro against Momo Yaoyorozu! As you can probably guess, what both of them have for their theme is that of familial pressure to conform and learning that that the life they truly need is one beyond the toxic life they were raised in.
For Momo’s arc, I want to have her arc concern both her established anxiety issues and also flesh out the Yaoyorozu family as a whole since I feel It's something that could have really been worked out upon in-canon as a part of her character. In this, the reason Momo is trying to be a good Pro Hero has to do with a lot about proving herself against the family business. In this timeline, the Yaoyorozu Family isn’t…the cleanest business. Or at least, it had a history that was based on a greyer path. Since the advent of Quirks, the Yaoyorzu clan made a killing as arms dealers, distributing weapons and items for all sides of the chaos brewed by Quirks. Anti-Hetormorphic rioters? Vigilantes trying to make a difference? Dictators hoping to crackdown on dissidents? Just the average joe trying to defend themselves? They cared only for profit and sold to anyone seeking their wares, growing much in the way of influence.
As time passed, their business became, on the surface, more legitimate as they got in league with the reformed government and began operating seemingly clean business in the support industry. But that was just a ruse, in truth, even the modern day clan still had major ties to the black market and the underworld. Many villains and brokers got their wares from third parties of third parties who sell the clans goods in their stead. Some including Shie Hassakai, the League and escpeially AFO throughout his years.
As the sole heiress to the Yaoyoruzu fortune, Momo was expected to walk down that path…but even as a kid she didn't fully agree with it. What they were doing was bad, right? But also allowed? How many people got hurt or killed because her family gave out items to the wrong people? Wasn’t this bad? She was entirely conflicted and wondered what she should even do. Eventually, she was inspired by the acts of heroes she saw, those not involved in the clans business, but those like All Might or Majestic, who were trying their damndest to clear out all wrong in the world, even long-established corrupt organizations like the yakuza. Heroes can do this sort of thing, so she decides to become one. One that can bring about change in rotten organizations and life!
As such, an inspired Momo opted into the Hero course instead of business or tech that her parents expected. Though on that note, they weren't taking even her Hero career seriously, chalking up to youthful exploration, with full thought that Momo will give it up to take over the business once she ends her studies. A silly hobby to pass the time. Momo didn’t see it that way, and so developed a perfectionist, tactical, if a bit snobbish mindset that we see earlier in the series.
You can also imagine that her failing in the Sports Festival hurts even harder now. Her chance to prove herself to her folks had her defeated without much effort, and likely had her mocked by her parents for it. I imagine they’d be the sort to be passive-aggressive or give backhanded compliments in front of company, something Jiro and Kaminari, to an extent, could be exposed to as she develops her friendship with Momo, and becomes the start of her trying to get Momo to stay on her path of going away from her clan’s expectations.
What happens that breaks the camel’s back is the Forest Invasion Arc. After Momo is injured and before she helped out her friends in the Bakugo Retrieval mission, she gains word during this time that she is to drop out of UA. No because her parents give a shit about her, mind you, but because they feel that between her failure in the Festival to being among the hurt in the FT arc, she is just wasting her talent and brain on a ‘childish endeavor’. It’s this time that gets Momo, who hears this during a meeting with AM, Midnight, Jiro (who snuck into the manor to tell her folks to not go through with the removal) and she just snaps and tell her parents off. That she declares she wants nothing to do with them and their awful company, and gladly disowning herself.  In exchange, she won’t reveal the truth of her clan in front of a pissed off AM, Midnight and Jiro. Bitterly, her parents accept…and Momo’s life in the family is over. At least, so it seems. Once in the dorms, she does weep and reveal the life she’s been living in private to Jiro, Kaminari and Midnight, and how guilty she feels just being apart of such a misaligned group. But is reassured knowing she has a place with her friends.
This marks her fully getting into her mature confidence arc, with her being an anchor that can relate to the difficulty Todoroki is facing given her own issues with her family and certainly, later down the line, when it comes to Aoyama’s parents getting him stuck as AFO’s mole. It also marks her gradually finding her own style and interests beyond what her family pushed on her - her true freedom that she can express to those actually closest to her. This is what also gets her to be fully onboard more with being a legitimately good leader to the first years as much as she could. To be something her family never was!
Also, on a side note, I also think it’d be cool if Midnight also became a mentor/Mom figure for Momo, like Mina. Considering she sees potential in Momo becoming a stellar leader that can ‘dominate’ the opposition and finding kinship in both essentially having similar costume styles for practical reasons (well, in Midnight’s cases it’s more like 80/20 for her reasons xD) and fighting styles that revolve on heavy reliance on what they can make. With Momo’s self-esteem issues showing themselves, Midnight seeks to raise the girl’s confidence and teaches her on how to handle herself if someone manages to bypass her Quirk, and use it for quick neutralization before a scuffle can really occur (especially since Momo can create her own gas products). As for Majestic, he aids her further in getting her to open up her creativity, reminding her to always keep ‘tricks up her sleeves’ in case of unexpected events and that deception can often prove to be far more useful than brawn.
Now, for Re-Destro! Honestly, as the only real MLA executive that the story gives both backstory and depth, his foundation is a lot more solid compared to the others and doesn’t really need much altering, I feel. Similar to Momo now, he’s someone who was raised and groomed in an environment that, deep down, he doesn’t quite agree with. But, unlike Momo, he’s someone that couldn’t escape that pressure, especially given how society left the state of their family following Destro’s demise and the country’s strict grip on Quirk usage. Unlike Momo, he is someone that basically resigns himself to being within the family, and embracing the liberation message…because that’s all he feels he can do. That he just exists to be an extension of Destro, and not his own person. Not realizing the effect his actual compassion had on his four Executives, who he reached out all on his own.  He wasn’t even on business when he met those four, it was by chance and he just wanted to help them out. Unaware that what got him his close circle wasn’t being Re-Destro, but Rikiya.
If I did have to make a further change, to further tie a link between RD And the Yaoyorozu clan, I’d have RD be business partners with the Yaoyoruzu’s. Both exchanging support and weapon ideas with each other. The Yaoyoruzu’s are aware of RD’s link to the MLA and see their future attempts for societal reform, in all its destructiveness, as perfect way to gain money and are all too willing to support him…though with one new caveat as RD aligns himself with Shigaraki, who goes to get upgraded. The current Heads of the Yaoyorozu clan insist that, if Re-Destro sees Momo whenever he goes about his Liberation crusade, that he ‘disciplines’ her into becoming such a ‘good boy’ like himself. Induct her into the Army, or simply just 'scare her a bit'. Make her know 'her place'.
Something that has a chance to happen during the First War, after Machia awakens. His rampage allows RD, his Executives and numerous soldiers to escape the Villa and runaway, with RD following closely behind trying to catch up to Machia. Though once he witnesses the giant fall due to Momo’s trap, becomes livid and seeks to aid him. Momo, seeing RD coming their way, and knowing if he arrives the others efforts into getting the vial into Machi’s mouth will certainly fail, rushes out to intercept RD. Stressed out to the max, its a brutal fight that has Momo fighting to stay ahead from RD’s swings by obscuring his vision with ‘smoke bombs’ from her matryoshka dolls. RD, remembering the words from the Yaoyorozu Heads, relays this to Momo. He’s bitter, thinking she has the audacity to do what he could not. That she could just up and leave her legacy behind?!  Why?! What gives her the right to do that?! How could she do that?! Even he fights to free Machia - to ensure he never has to be Commander of the MLA/PLF again - he still can’t turn his back on what he was raised for.
In response? Momo simply replies she just couldn’t find a way to live with herself anymore if she didn’t at least try. Now RD’s the one rattled, but tried to push her away after getting a solid hit in…and it happens. He collapses to the ground, groggy and sleepy. Huh? As it turns out, what Momo was throwing wasn’t smoke bombs, but rather sleeping gas that she made during her time under Midnight and Majestic - a combo owed from her beloved mentors! She merely made it seem like just average smoke and fought to ensure RD would be deeply inhaling it. The dolls aren’t enough to stop Machia, hence her making the bigger vials, but Momo knows about RD’s Quirk from the Villain Files the Heroes got before the mission, so she’s able to use that knowledge to take him down. As RD begins to black out, he’s sobbing, not of regret for defeat - but in pride. She’s truly liberated, huh? Why…why couldn’t he have that strength like her? Relating to him, Momo shouts that he always can. No matter how much he falls, he can still do something to be free for himself!! No one has to be shackled to what others force upon them.
Something that he takes to heart as he is arrested. While he refuses to give up the core circle and the remaining free PLF, he does testify to the Heroes about the shady dealings the PLF had with heads of various organizations and government officials. Something that gets them arrested, including the Heads of the Yaoyorozu Clan, once the shelter plan goes underway. Putting an end to the corruption of a clan with generations of blood on their hands. As a bonus for Re-Destro, when all is said and done, he's able to at least reunite and talk to occasionally with the Executives - no, his friends - that he made once more. Free at last.
-
And that's it for this section!
I actually had a bit of a difficult time concerning who should be paired with Re-Destro, Geten (especially fucking Geten) and Skeptic. I wanted these three to have satisfying Class A students to go against, but trying to find common ground for these guys (and not ruin one for the remaining League) was tough.
Originally, Kaminari and Jiro were swapped, with the former taking on Geten and Skeptic for the latter. Elemental against tech support, but I found that too 'ehhh' and tried to figure out if I could switch them, and having it still be meaningful, which I think I suceeded.
Re-Destro was a majro choice between Momo, Ida and even Tokoyami at one point. But, ultimately, Momo and her own dealings with her rich family had more potential that I feel she should take down Re-Destro.
With that said, hope you loved the read!
Oh I am EXCITED to hear your thoughts about the war arc and the post-war arc because that's when everything went from decent to shit.
From random ass characters getting introduced and killed off
To the HORRIBLE confrontation of 1-A vs Izuku where it feels like Middle School all over again where everyone gangs up on him.
The mistreatment of Izuku where he's treated to be in the wrong for leaving even though it was to protect everyone.
To everyone basically gaslighting him.
To the HORRIBLE apology Bakugou gave which was more justifying his actions and victim blaming.
And not to mention the rushed Aoyama Traitor reveal and Izuku refusing to connect or relate to him because as we know as soon as he got a quirk, his quirkless past was erased!
You know, between how big this ended up being, and all the things I had to do, this response came later than I would have like. Hopefully it lives up.
Ah, The War Arc.
Also known as 'The point where everything went to shit'. Oh, those were the days. It's even worse because, as it was building up, The War Arc seemed like it was going to be awesome. It was where a bunch of plot threads, from Shigaraki to Hawks to Dabi's 'surprise' were all lining up to collide, and oh I, and probably others, were so excited to see it all go down.
Such naivety. Honestly, I think I blocked out so much of this beyond pure scorn that I had to reread it just to do this justice. If I seem particularly biting or sarcastic... that's probably why. This is basiclly me rereading and commenting as I go along, so it'll probably be a bit all over the place, before I move onto the post-war arcs which are still fresh in my mind.
Where to start, where to start.... well, the beginning works, I guess.
The LOV, after absorbing the MLA in a... kind of shoehorned way (Re-Destro basically ceased being a person after Shigaraki beat him, but for all that it's shown as, 'Wow he's so cool let's follow him!', I wonder if he surrendered just so his movement and army wouldn't be annihilated more than anything, and how he feels about all this, since he has no legs and seems generally depressed even though his stress has 'disappeared'. And wow, isn't funny that, if you just give up on everything you ever stood for or care about and your will to live, your sheer crippling depression would probably get rid of your stress temporarily?) becomes the PLF (so many acronyms!) and an army large enough to need a serious intervention, and so an army is needed to oppose them.
Thankfully, they get information from Aizawa's friend from the spin off manga to help figure out where everything is! Thank god they gave us flashbacks as this was happening to explain to anyone who didn't read it what the fuck was going on!
Sigh. Introduce your shit better, Hori, especially when it's some illegal move beyond science you're trying to sell us.
Anyways, that, combined with Hawks's information (back in those days where his arc was great), lets them get a grasp on the PLF and launch a two pronged attack on them, while also dealing with moles. All of this? All of this was actually pretty great, Kurogiri as the exception. Like I said, that build up was great.
Also, can I just add that Present Mic losing his shit was actually pretty awesome and hilarious? 10/10, would watch Crazed Mic again.
Anyways, here's one of the first things that, and maybe it's just me, is just kind of off: the fact that Garaki can duplicate Quirks. Not with a Quirk, or even with multiple Quirks, but just with science, somehow? I know that he's in the best position to do it, with AFO and vast resources to support him, but still; the closest to 'manipulating' Quirks like this, beyond OFA and Garaki himself, that we've seen in this manga? Is fucking Endeavor with his Quirk marriage. Quirks, in this story, are some black box bullshit that no one understands, and attempts to control them are on the level of Mendel and his peas, and often prone to failure to even get a 'basic' change happen (like, Bakugou was another 'basic' pairing, but he easily could have gotten something useless for heroics if he wasn't born lucky), and yet this fucker is just... so far beyond them it's OOC for the setting.
Everyone else is mashing lego pieces they can't see together to see if they fit, but this guy has copied Quirks, hundreds of them, and they just sit in jars everywhere? How? How?! In retrospect (and I'm kind of afraid of how many times I may say that here), his existence is just set up for the massive escalation that's about to come at us like a truck. How are there multiple AFOs active? How is Shigaraki's new body so strong? Where does the retroactively impossible rare old age Quirk come from, that was never a big deal before now because AFO had decades to hunt one down?
All of it? All of it is this guy. He's actually kind of interesting as a character, and a mad scientist fits AFO's organization to a T, but his purpose in the story is to hand out deus ex machinas for the villains on demand, and I honestly kind of hate him for it.
Meanwhile, Mirko bursts into the lab with Tomura in it and, ah, Mirko. In retrospect (seriously, someone count this and get back to me) this is the start of Hori just... ripping off all her body parts off like she's a cheap toy that he wants to see how much it'll take to break. At the time, I didn't think much of it, at worst it was a cheap way to prove how Serious Shit Was(TM) without killing off anyone named, but once it started happening again, while it just continued to focus on her in fetishy ways as she fights, it started to be a disturbing trend.
I've got some mixed feeling about her in general, because she's.... basiclly Bakugou? But with better limits on her behavior? Like, she's what the fanfic versions of Bakugou tend to end up as, somewhat cruel and crude and definitely violent but channeling it towards acceptable targets rather than, like, everyone around her. I actually like Blood Knight characters, but in this setting, as a hero, it just doesn't fit right, you know?
Still, she's a cool character and definitely deserved better than than being turned into a human stick for whatever kicks Hori seems to be getting out of it.
While I'm at it, let me mention that it's hard to take 'Super Strength Quirks' as a whole seriously sometimes if 'Rabbit' is enough for her to tear through the Semi-High Ends with some early Full Cowl level feats, and Endeavor can be punted through buildings and shake it off. In retrospect (fucking sigh) Endeavour vs the High End and Mirko's big Nomu fight were warnings that, yup, we're going all in on the power levels now, and it's kind of frustrating when, early on, they were trying to take the 'physicality' of Quirks seriously, that they were just human bodies plus this one specific thing, and now Hori's taking the seriousness of his own setting so loosely, just to make BIGGER, more DRAMATIC fights that last a lot longer than they should.
But I digress.
On a different note, while it was nice to see 1A given a time to shine, the fact that they're in this fight, the fact that some of them were essential members of this attack, is just wow. This, making so many of the adult heroes seem so useless that the need to depend on literal high schoolers, is in retrospect a big warning sign of just how accelerated the timeline became. In a more 'normal' situation for something like this, these big, dramatic fights would have happened years later, giving 1A the chance to grow up and make it all less... child soldier-y. There's plenty of shonen settings that have this kind of thing happen, sure, but they're always generally dystopian hellholes in the first place. Naruto the sixteen year old being important is a lot less of a reach when they put ten year olds in life or death situations on the regular anyways. MHA, though, is a modern setting, and they're in an actual, semi-normal school, where they get, like diplomas and shit and learn normal school things, rather than some military academy focused on pumping out ninjas or sorcerers or whatever to fight and die and kill for the cause. Which, UA kinda actually does anyways, but UA and how it doesn't actually make sense as a whole is really getting off topic.
So. Anyways....
OK, fine, Re-Destro being, like, the 'This is Fine' meme as a person is both iconic and deeply understandable and I wish we had more focus on that, but I need to focus back up on this!
Midnight's actual combat tool is a non-combat fan that exists just to fan the air. It kind of makes sense with her power but it's just so... shallow seeming, just playing to her fetishy theme, and I honestly think her doing this, fanning the air dramatically, is one of her more impressive showings in canon? I already know Hori has never taken Midnight seriously but still.
I've already talked about how wonderfully horrible the whole Twice Hawks thing was, so we're just going to ignore that and try to save some space....
Now I think it's time, so let's talk about one of the biggest issues of this arc: Shigaraki.
I've said it before, but him powering up makes sense, especially when he starts taking on the mantle of AFO's replacement. The problem is how much he powers up, and we can lay that at the feet of Garaki, Doctor Power Up, you jerk. He was always going to be one of the top beings in the setting once he got one of the most broken Quirks in the setting, but the fact that he can walk around without a Quirk active, blatantly ignoring all the people actively trying to murder him, refusing to simply kill Endeavor because his character is too important to write off yet, still incomplete and still be so dangerous...; in other words, the fact he effectively has several Quirks even without having a Quick is way too far. The heroes nerfing his development was an elegant solution to this problem, something that was handled a lot better than AFO, both as a person and as the Quirk itself, was. Even with Shigaraki escaping at the end of this, and making the 'final confrontation' energy of this arc fall completely flat*, the fact that he was permanently damaged by this still makes it have more meaning... you know. Until they tossed that out to fix him up anyways, somehow.
*This, actually, is one of the things that made the war so bad for me, actually: the build up was so... This Is It. There was all this hype for this being the Ultimate Fight, because if they don't win here, they'll have no way to meaningfully counter Shigaraki, he'd just be too hard to fight. Maybe if it was later, if Izuku was stronger, them losing could work: there would be a somewhat reasonable way out if they lost, involving a (probably bullshit) power up/training arc with Izuku frantically trying to even begin to match Shigaraki somewhere on his level as a 'transcendent one beyond humanity' before it was Too Late.... but him reaching his full potential at this point was years away, far too late to stop Shigaraki. It didn't sit right, because it was too early, but the way it was set up this was the do or die moment. Then the heroes lost, and that was the moment the story just... went to shit because Hori decided to solve the problem of Shigaraki being too strong by just making everyone else stronger as well.
And sure, a lot of it (most of it) is just Izuku, just Deku getting power up after power up, mastering them all near instantly when before each level of strength he gained was hard fought, requiring time and practice to being able to use them well, even with the new, largely out of nowhere addition of Black Whip, but it's also all the super moves everyone starts breaking out left and right in the final arc. It's Endeavour somehow beating AFO. It's all the big, increasingly dramatic and flashy attacks, all of them being no-selled by SFO because they're not allowed to be a meaningful threat. It's the one scratch on SFO by Bakugou (of fucking course) being, not because he's that strong (thank fuck) but because of some weird PTSD flashback on AFO's end. It's Deku, The Main Character, finally showing up and being the only person able to anything. That moment, in retrospect, is the moment when the power levels became the most important thing for a character above anything else, beyond strategy and planning, beyond how a power even works; any of it, all of it, they all paled before how strong is this character, how hard can they hit, how much damage can they take. It takes the idea of everyone being a hero, of the lesson Izuku had started to reject from the very beginning of the story, that people aren't born equal, being proved right all along, despite how the story trying to tell us otherwise.
That Izuku was only ever special because All Might graced him with his Quirk, and nothing else.
Oh. I can't believe I didn't mention that one second later retcon of Shigaraki awakening 'because of his hatred' instead of the far more reasonable electricity zapping him. With the delicious irony of it only happening because a hero was doing the 'heroic' thing of not minding his own business, no less; that would have been the cherry on top of the sundae of him coming back, as the perfect symbolism of how the heroes keep creating the villains they fight.
Don't get me wrong, his awakening itself is epic, you can almost hear the epic dark chorus singing in the background as he destroys everything, but... it's flashiness for the sake of flashiness, the way he officially wakes up. Not for any logical reason, but because his hatred is so immense it breaks reality, just like Izuku magically defies Nighteye's prediction, even though MHA pretends it's 'grounded' and that all it's super powers are biologic instead of anything more metaphysical that would help explain that off. It's just empty hype just for the sake of hype, no matter how little sense it makes. In this situation, it's relatively harmless, sure, but it's easy for it to become less harmless, like, perhaps, power ups just to make Shigaraki, Izuku, Bakugou, or whoever else is in focus at the moment look better, even if it doesn't make sense for them to actually happen. Or dramatic, meaningless 'deaths' and equally dramatic and ridiculous 'resurrections' that couldn't possibly result in a drastic increase in a person's abilities.
*looks meaningfully at the final arc's bullshit*
But surely, surely, Hori wouldn't do that, right? Right?
But anyways, back to the War Arc and... 'booty incoming'. Really. Really? Must we? Must we do this? Can't we have a woman on screen for five minutes without something sexual being referenced?
And then Bakugou's back, still speaking to everyone he can like they're trash, and still with people surprised by this, somehow, like this isn't a long established character trait for him, or that he would actually have any respect for old people. And then everything's being Dusted, people are panicked, and the heroes are full in crisis mode and yet his comment on the situation is "I'll wreck him". Not something about teamwork, not something about saving people, not even that he'll stop him, which has connotations of protection, but wreck, which screams aggressiveness and destruction. And it's just... so completely ignoring the seriousness of the situation, where everyone else is concerned about the city vanishing into dust, and Bakugou just wants to crush the enemy just to crush them.
It has all the energy of someone slapping their edgy OC into a scene by saying a meaningless line that can be somewhat reasonably ignored by the actual characters because it's so out of place. And then next chapter he just screams about killing Izuku instead of the actual threat when Izuku wonders why he's even there. Look, I get that, for some god forsaken reason, that Hori wants to play Bakugou's violent, abusive tendencies as 'comedy', but even if it was comedy, actually comedy and not thinly painted over abuse, there is a time and place for comedy, and this situation is not that time.
And, oh look, Eraserhead is finally fulfilling his true purpose: not being a teacher, but desperately acting as a bandaid to try and salvage the plot after Shigaraki contracted Madara Syndrome! And yet we still get shit like, 'The worst case is losing the teacher who watched over us all this time!' You know, the person who 'watched over you' by systematically destroying your ability to trust that anything he says or does isn't just another lie 'logical ruse', instead of the already unstoppable villain being even more unstoppable, because that is the context of the worst case scenario here, just so we're all clear: losing Aizawa would be worse than Shigaraki getting OFA.
(I mean, you could make a case that losing Erasure, the Quirk, is worse than him getting OFA, because Erasure can counter OFA so in that respect, Shigaraki getting it wouldn't change Aizawa's utility, but that's not the argument that's happening here; it's not Eraserhead, the tactical asset, the would be a loss, it's Aizawa the asshole of a person, who would be a tragic loss worse than OFA, the only hope anyone in this story has.)
Hori, if you could just throttle down the overhype of your Kakashi proxy and the angry fan favorite for five minutes while the shit gets real that would be great, thanks.
"If we can't stop one person, what is the point of this hero-saturated society?" You know what... Burning(?), that's a great question; I'm just going to leave this quote here on it's own merits.
And then Midnight is merced off screen by a meaningless mook, basiclly never to be mentioned again. You know, I didn't like how hollow her characterization was, but the answer to that is not to just off her and move on.
Meanwhile, Gran Torino is torn into by Shigaraki, but still manages to shrug it off. And, while we're on this topic...
Momo: is a genius.
Also Momo: makes a drug that is administered by injection instead of in a gas form.
Still Momo: doesn't think to make anyone else some extra knock out vial... things.
Still Momo: the sleep drug she makes take so long to take effect that this entire exercise is almost pointless.
Ashido: has the toss.
Also Ashido: fumbles the toss at the last minute out of surprise so that a man can do it for her, in a reversal of a situation that she had handled better before than he did, as an excuse to show his growth at her expense.
Classic Hori. Why let a woman actually be helpful when they can just try and fail to meaningfully improve the situation for the better?
And, ah yes. After just going on, with all apparently seriousness, about how he'll fight Izuku if he dares question why he's following him around, 'Bakugou Rises', and 'has his body move on it's own'. You know, heroically. Even though by all accounts he did and still does think and act on his instinct to just attack other people. And his dramatic 'sacrifice' is just going to be shrugged off and he's still going to be able to fight in anther couple of minutes. And, despite how it's presented like he comes to a big realization, he still acts exactly the same after this.
Riiiight, I buy that. Oh, and the person to notice something off about All Might's notes? Who was that again? Was it Izuku, who started off the series by analyzing Quirks a lot, and took the notes seriously, or is it Bakugou, who instantly insulted everyone in the notes off a surface level impression of them?
...Well. Now that the Bakugou simping portion of the war is finally past us, let us continue with Hori writing off one of his most interesting villains, just to replace him with the one he's refused to develop, just so we can start undoing all his wonderful development.
Thankfully, we come to one of the few parts I like about this mess: Dabi's Dance. Fucking glorious it is; the man is just vibing about the mayhem he's causes, the wonderful little psychopath. And let me tell you, 'The Past Never Dies' hits a lot harder than anything AFO has ever said.
Say what you want about him being a crazed murderer, beyond all hope of redemption, or blindingly insane? I'm not going to argue with you (though the story might, the way things are going) but you can't disagree with me about this: for all of his many, many flaws, the man understands Megamind's lesson about Presentation.
Oh. And Lemillion's back, I guess. If I seem unenthusiastic about it, well, that's about as much enthusiasm as Hori seems to have about that, so don't blame me.
Wait, the Bakugou simping is back on, or should I say, the Great Explosion Murder God Dynamite simping is back on. Fuck, Hori, remember what I said about a time and a place for comedy? Remember that?
Sigh... And the perfect place to end this clusterfuck of an arc off: 'You look like you needed saving', in reference to one of the greatest villains in the series, a mass murder who has spent the last five minutes trying to kill you, Izuku, what the fuck. But, it's over, right? Now that the War Arc is over, it can only get better, right?! Ha, if only!
Welcome to Post War, suckers: AKA, the point where Hori just stops giving a shit.
You see, for all the many, many, many flaws of the War Arc, Hori at least spent time on them, fleshed out dramatic moments, character reactions, and the lead up to those moments. But after? Hori has a checklist, somewhere, of all the major points he wants to do before the manga ends and he's checking things off, sure, but that's all he's doing: checking off the major plot points, one after the other. We've reached speedrun manga hell, where no character gets time actually think about anything anymore, or hold a conversation with someone that doesn't involve violence, or even break down in a proper hysterical cry.
Oh, look, a new character! What's that, an interesting character with deep ties to previously untouched worldbuilding you've been curious about? You want to know more about the corruption of the heroic society, or a country that isn't Japan for once?
Well, too bad, because they're gone. Where we're going, we don't have time for the current characters, much less new ones. If you see someone you've never seen before, enjoy your handful of chapters before they're thrown away like trash.
What's this? Izuku is finally getting some new character development? He's doing something new, different, and exciting, with potential to make him think about his future and heroism? WRONG! Class 1A can't have that! They're going to hunt him down like a dog for daring to leave them, and beat the living shit out of him to prove their friendship.
Just like Bakugou does! Good thing he's leading them, just like the old days in Aldera! And wow, that's some top tier Karma Houdini bullshit there, isn't it?
Pop Quiz: according to Bakugou, what does Deku mean?
Useless, you got it!
Next question: what does Bakugou still call Izuku, the same way he has since they were young, young children up to the present?
Deku!
How about this? How long has All Might actually interacted with Izuku?
Oh, maybe two years or so, you say? That's right!
During this time, has he ever once called Izuku either useless or Deku, beyond as his hero name?
Not once, correct!
So, taking all of this into account, final question: if Izuku considers himself Dek- I'm sorry, useless, what one person is the most reponsible for that?
All Might!
Hmm. Hmmm. Something seems wrong with that last answer. Gee, I wonder what seems wrong about that last answer, I'm so confused.
So, yeah, after Izuku leaves, not runs away, mind you, leaves, because UA isn't a prison and he has every right to leave, Bakugou explains how Izuku's complete lack of self respect is All Might's fault, before whipping all his classmates into a frenzy to go hunt him down.
Then, after finding him, already exhausted from constantly fighting for his life, all of them gang up on him, attack, try to knock him out, and after he gives up on making his own choices against the sheer amount of peer pressure being thrown his way, Bakugou apologizes.
For what? Well, if we didn't read the manga, we sure wouldn't know, because Bakugou didn't want to talk about that! No, it's just how Izuku, weak, helpless Izuku who idolized him, and had no Quirk, somehow made him feel inferior, and that's why he was so angry all the time. How dare Izuku have hopes and dreams?! And then we end it up with the absolutely touching message that this won't change anything.
Wow, Great Explosion God Dynamite. I'm moved. You truly are beyond us mere mortals, to know how an apology can only be truly sincere when you explain how utterly worthless it is! Brilliant! Truly, this is that Post War quality we know and love!
Oh, and the Traitor arc. Think back, everyone, back to the days where this manga was about being in a school, and think about the traitor that ratted out the class to AFO. Remember that? Well, it's Aoyama. What, the last chapter made you think it was someone else? Psych!
Anyways, Aoyama was actually the traitor the whole time, and it just... never came up again; AFO never saw a use for someone inside UA since they attacked the summer camp, I guess, and there's no possible way he could have used that asset again, no sir. Well, now that we've all yelled at him a bit, I guess we're all fine with that now; let's use him to ambush AFO! With loopholes to get around his lie detector Quirk! Surely, after giving him one Quirk to help him infiltrate one of the most important places in Japan, there's no way AFO could have planted, say, a second Quirk in Aoyama, as a way to deal with possible treachery; no we've never seen him do that recently. Or just observe him, or really do anything to make sure he stays loyal.
Oh wait, he was Quirkless? A dark mirror to Izuku, you say, both of which got a Quirk from two of the most important characters in the series, in a way that drastically changed their lives and tied them together antagonistically?! What does Izuku think about that? Don't you know better than to ask that kind of question; we don't have time to reflect on things, much less Izuku's Quirkless past that has basiclly been retconned out of existence at this point.
Was any of that too fast for you? Maybe too confusing? Did you want me to maybe break up that last section a little more, spend some more time on each major plot twist as it happened, how people felt about it? Well, congratulations, that's exactly what it feels like to read MHA Post War.
*screams in fury forever*
Hori. Hori, why did you do this to me? This story started off so good. What the fuck is all this?
Rewriting a different version of MLB
Disclaimer: I'm not a writer, much less a screenwriter, I'm just someone who enjoys writing and analyzing cartoons.
Oh and sorry for my grammar, as English is not my first language.
My (and I think yours too) relationship with the series is ‘’particular’’.
I remember when I first saw this series when its first season aired and fell in love with it: although the plot was episodic, there were moments that gave the semblance of a plot that was hidden under our noses.
Season 2 arrived, and my interest increased, mostly because certain characters were starting to move in interesting directions (Gabriel and Nathalie with their secret plan to bring Emilie back to life, Chloé showing signs of changing and maturing, the appearance of the new heroes …).
And then the last three seasons came.
Well, I quit the show at the end of Season 3 as I felt the writers and Astruc didn’t value my intelligence and my time was being wasted, but still tended to keep up with the 'plot' via various social media posts.
With the end of the fifth season, I would like to try to rewrite the story with my ideas and with what I would have liked to see, and if so, it would be interesting to know your opinions and what you would have changed .
Let's begin.
-Worldbuilding:
We know that the Miraculouses are magical jewels that allow humans to use certain powers thanks to the Kwami.
In ‘’the Origins’’ they make us understand that almost no one knew of the Kwami and that such abilities were unknown.
Superheroes aren’t the norm.
Like, Majestia is presented not as a living, breathing person, but like a comic book.
…But in the New York special we are told that superheroes are a very common thing? And that you can give superpowers very easily? And Majestia exists? Then why be scared if you have these people in your daily life?
So what is so special about Miraculous? Can the abilities of those who are actually gods really be recreated by people in costumes?
In the first and second seasons they showed us a planet Earth from the year 2014, with all the technologies also present in our world. How the heck is it possible that in what would be 9 months in canon you had practically 9 years of technological development in real life? When I watch a show, I have to know right away what is considered 'normal' and what is 'special', because otherwise I don't distinguish what should scare me and what shouldn't.
Why rely on two teenagers in a suit to fight Hawkmoth when I can call America's heroes? Or use something high-tech that allows me to locate the bad guy in 5 minutes?
Establishing rules and limitations is essential in a magical system.
What would I have done?
Here, only the Miraculous should make you a superhero and, if you really want to insert sci-fi elements, make sure that only Gabriel is in possession of such technologies, and that this is not known to the public.
-The magic system:
Setting precise limits on the powers of heroes and villains ensures that when they have to get out of seemingly impossible situations, they appear brilliant.
And that's why, in my opinion, the series should have focused on the first seven Miraculous we've seen: the ladybug, the black cat, the butterfly, the peacock, the turtle, the bee and the fox.
If you add too many powers, the viewer’s attention gets scattered.
If you add too many superheroes, you have too many characters to handle.
The roles of the protagonists, co-protagonists and of the antagonists must be immediately clear enough so the viewer is not confused on who’s important and who’s not.
Among other things, every Miraculous must have precise and clear powers from the very beginning (I'm looking at you, Miraculous of the rooster).
How I would have handle them:
-Ladybug: Creation. It can purify the akumas but cannot destroy the akumatized item. It repairs everything that was destroyed by using the Lucky Charm (I honestly prefer how it was used in the movie).
-Black cat: Destruction. It can destroy the akumatized item using the cataclysm (so that both heroes are crucial in the battle and not just Ladybug).
-Butterfly: Transmission. It can give ordinary people superpowers, but not abilities of other Miraculous (For example, you cannot create another Chat Noir like in ''Copycat'' or give powers like those of Volpina, which faithfully copies the fox Miraculous, also because it would make her stronger than the Miraculous itself as she can use it infinitely.)
-Peacock. Here, technically the power is called 'Emotion', but on a practical level, it is a mix between Creation and Transmission. Either you totally change the power and make it something related to pure empathy, or you tie it to the creation of animate but non-sentient objects (so that it remains distinct from the Creation of Ladybug, and that it doesn't allow you to create ''human beings'' and not fall into all the unnecessary questions like ‘Are senti-beings humans?’’. Are you telling me that Gabriel and Nathelie actually killed a human on-screen when they made Senti-Ladybug disappear?)
Regarding this, if you really want to link Adrien's birth to the Miraculous of the Peacock and to Emilie's death, you can invent an excuse like that maybe (I’m inventing something) a newborn Adrien was dying and to save him Emilie used her own power too much, damaging the Miraculous and killing herself, thus making Adrien a semi "senti-being" without being mind-controlled by an Amok or by the holder of the Peacock Miraculous.
-Fox: Illusion. Maybe you can also tie it to the concept of deception and lies. Since Alya wants to be a reporter and she likes the world of journalism, it would be nice if she's the one who can find lies more easily.
-Turtle. Protection. It is also the Miraculous of longevity, so perhaps the wearer could be the one who takes the least damage when hit or they’re the one who has the most stamina. Or that the Miraculous guarantees you a longer life, as in the case of Master Fu.
-Bee: Action. In short, to paralyze someone. Honestly, I would also give it the power to force someone to perform a single action for you, If you want to joke about the fact that Chloè is a ''Queen Bee''.
Now, it's not that the other Miraculouses don't exist, they can be mentioned during the story, but since the two most important and the strongest ones are in Paris, Gabriel shouldn't be interested in others of lesser value.
In this version there would still be an order of the guardians, but I would make Fu a more responsible character and an actual mentor.
Let’s talk about:
-The Characters:
The protagonists are Marinette and Adrien, and they must be treated as equals.
You can focus the attention on Marinette, but that doesn't mean you have to treat your male protagonist like his personal doormat.
Let your protagonists have flaws that make them human!
I want a Marinette who is actually insecure, who has a real difficulty balancing her duties as the masked heroine with being a normal girl with a normal life.
Maybe that polka dot mask gives her the opportunity to experiment and find self-confidence that she doesn't have as a civilian (a bit like in the movie).
Let Adrien be a naive boy to the outside world without making him stupid. Naivety and stupidity are two different things.
If in the everyday life Adrien feels the pressure of having to be the perfect son of the great Gabriel Agreste, as a masked superhero he can be the imperfect prankster who wants to discover the world and himself.
I think the love square should remain almost unchanged, but the Marichat must certainly take on a more predominant role: Marinette must appreciate the mask, the part that Adrien never shows except when he is transformed, while Chat Noir must appreciate Marinette's insecurities and fragility , and advise her on how to act accordingly. Perhaps Chat Noir, noticing Marinette's fashion projects, could offer her some advices that he noticed from his father.
If the Marichat would develop in precise moments of the day (Maybe after an akuma attack, and as in those few times it was shown to us in the cartoon, during the evening), the Ladynoir and the Adrienette are those more ''daily'' relationships: Adrienette at school or when hanging out with their friend group, Ladynoir while they are at work.
Ladien would only develop as the reflection of the latter two.
The only thing I might have no idea how to manage are Luka and Kagami: at this point, they could be two characters that the two protagonists like, either because in a moment of crisis between these two, or because they offer the two protagonists different perspectives: Luka, with his calmness and kindness helps Marinette to deal with her anxiety (by the way, I would have loved to see Luka teach Marinette how to play the guitar, it's a very nice trope you know), while Kagami would have encouraged Adrien to break free from his father's control (like how she wants to become independent from Tomoe).
Honestly, I would also avoid Kagami (and Felix) having to deal with being senti-beings, there is no need to complicate things.
Moving on to the co-protagonists: Alya, Nino and Chloè.
While at the beginning Chloè will be as the one from the first season (a spoiled and unpleasant brat), Alya and Nino would be those friends who back up the protagonists and then become permanent heroes when they are given the Miraculous (for me, Marinette and Alya should know about each other being Ladybug and Rena Rouge, while Adrien and Nino know they are Chat Noir and Carapace).
Gradually a solid group of friends would be created and where they can count on each other, just like in the first and in the second season.
And Chloè? Well, since a 14-year-old can change (Right, Astruc?), her evolution would be gradual until she becomes a stable member of the friend group. She is Adrien's childhood friend, and he will be the one who will help her to become a better person. And her admiration for Ladybug will make her understand the importance of her responsibilities (Like at the end of the second season, before Astruc ruined her because for some reason he hates blondes.)
And even if she reveals that she is Queen Bee to prove her worth to her mother, she can always create a new identity for herself. Don't tell me he can't do it, Chat Noir does it in ''Cat-Walker'' and it worked.
The one who keeps the group together would be Nino, with his chill personality, but that still doesn't let himself be fooled by someone else: he would be the one who calms the situation in case Chloè, Marinette and Alya start arguing or if Adrien doesn’t have the courage to let his voice get heard.
Each character in the group will obviously have their own individual passions that could actually help them defeat Hawkmoth: for example, Alya could be the one who carries out the investigations to discover the identity of the villain.
In terms of passions, some are already more obvious: Marinette as a fashion designer, Alya as a journalist, Nino as a DJ (ok, but how cool would it have been to see Nino help Alya with the music and organization of her Ladyblog? It would have been adorable).
Chloe and Adrien? Well, I'm going to make something up here, still linking it to the main series.
Chloè at first wanted to become like her mother, a stylist, only to then realize that she was more cut in the leadership position (as a ''Queen Bee'').
A Chloè who aspires to become mayor of Paris (like her father, but less corrupt, or like in the fifth season), but competent and mature. Of course, she would be mayor as an adult (The writers of the series may not know that Parisians will burn your city down if they don't like you).
Also, come on, Chloè would totally have a secret cove built up, like Batman. She may have changed here, but she’s still a diva.
Adrien is more of a special case.
I'm going to pick up on the 'Wishmaker' concept where he doesn't know what he wants to be as an adult, and only wants to please his parents. This would mean that Adrien has not found an identity yet.
Perhaps, with his friends, he will find one that will detach him from Gabriel.
Side note, imagine if he became a pastry chef? Adrien joins Marinette's family, carrying on the family business, while Marinette enters the world of the Agreste family and Parisian high fashion world.
Master Fu will obviously be the guardian of the Miraculouses and the mentor of both Ladybug and Chat Noir. In this version of the series we will actually see lessons where Fu teaches the kids the history of the Miraculous, their powers, how to control their emotions and, above all, how to trust each other.
Seeing that he was like a teacher for the two protagonists, it would certainly make his departure more painful for both, and would alarm all the heroes towards the two main antagonists: Hawkmoth and Mayura.
Gabriel must actually be a sympathetic antagonist: in the series he almost seems to forget that he does everything for his son (Gorizzilla's Gabriel and Chat Blanc's Gabriel are completely different, let's be honest).
Gabriel obviously has to act in the shadows, but when he realizes that he can't do this alone, he will involve Nathalie more, until she becomes Mayura (even if, on this, Gabriel does not agree , as this would lead her to her death).
Nathalie, even if in love with Gabriel, would bring Emilie back to life just to see him happy, even if that would mean losing the only chance she has with Gabriel. But, since she will then realize that what they are doing is profoundly wrong towards Adrien (who in the meantime has moved on) and towards the whole world (the desire would destabilize the cosmic balance), first she try to make him change his mind and then to stop him with a fight which she would then lose as she was too weak due to the peacock Miraculous.
When Nathalie becomes too sick, We’ll see Lila (or whatever her name is) again, who will have distinguished herself as she seems to be more aware and more willing to be "manipulated". Lila, of course, would be ready to betray Gabriel at the right moment, as for her, being a narcissist and a pathological liar, she is only interested in power and adoration.
I know it's not perfect, but these are my thoughts on a possible rewriting of the series.
I would appreciate other advices and, above all, opinions and criticisms.
