tkkg where 3rd year!tobio has always been set to move to kyoto, his mother's hometown, for college and forever since his 2nd year, planning to leave everything behind on miyagi for a change. but then comes kei, who swept him off his feet and made him want to stay

it leaves him frustrated, because he doesn't want to live in miyagi anymore but he also wants to stay with kei. in the end, kei decides for him and he lives on kyoto with tobio instead, settling on a small apartment that is fine in every corner

Again, as far as group dynamics go, I'd still say Seijoh 4 because as a group, they're the only ones that are all actually friends with each other.

MSBY Friendships:

Bokuto - Hinata

Hinata - Atsumu

Sakusa - His hatred of the world and everything in it These are the main ones. I don't think Bokuto and Atsumu are close enough for me to call them friends but I could be wrong/could have forgotten their manga interactions. Atsumu likes to tease Omi who mostly just seems irritated/uninterested so I wouldn't really call them friends idk. Bokuto and Hinata are bright shining rays of sunshine and need to be protected at all costs. They try to be friendly to everyone even if they don't get the same response from the other side.

So yeah, as a group, I am not fond of them. As players, yes. As a group, no.

Karasuno First Year Friendships:

Kageyama - Hinata

Tsukishima - Yamaguchi

Yamaguchi - Hinata

Kageyama and Tsuki dislike each other, Tsuki feels inferior to Hinata, Kageyama and Hinata are rivals first and friends later and the former has been downright cruel to him at times which I don't like. They're not a even group, actually, they all just happen to be in the first year and play together.

WHEN THEY HAVE A CRUSH ON THEIR DESKMATE

ft. kageyama, atsumu, iwaizumi

Kageyama

the little milk packets start appearing on an unsuspecting tuesday afternoon, after school

you've been nodding off the whole day in school so you went to the toilet to rinse your face and freshen up

but when you return, a packet of milk sits at the corner of your desk

you're even more confused when a packet of milk appears again the day after, and the day after that, AND all the days after that

one day, you decide to confide in your (cute) deskmate kageyama and ask him if he has seen anybody entering your classroom to secretly give you milk these days

kageyama is IMMEDIATELY blushing and spluttering, "err, m-maybe you have a secret admirer?"

he's internally screaming - is he giving away too much? what if you find out? he's definitely not ready -

turns out he has nothing to worry about. you have hired him for your brand new mission: CATCHING YOUR SECRET ADMIRER !!

not your brightest moment 😭😭

not that kageyama has anything against that! he gets to spend significantly more time with you and he's slowly learning about your favourite snacks

so instead of one packet of milk, you're starting to receive one pack of milk AND your favourite bar of chocolate

the bar of chocolate is coincidentally the brand that you mentioned to kageyama before

now you have growing suspicions of kageyama tobio, your fellow detective in mission

your suspicions are confirmed on an unsuspecting tuesday afternoon, after school

you're returning from the toilet quickly, rushing off for extracurriculars, then you're seeing this familiar figure with a mop of black hair outside your classroom

this boy is gripping onto homemade cookies a little too hard and breathing a bit too hard

you narrow your eyes and rush up to him, "kageyama? don't you have volleyball right now?"

kageyama quickly hides the cookies behind his back and stutters out, "i - practice hasn't started..."

you're about to leave it at that but something made you wink at him, teasing, "oh, and by the way, did i mention that i like cookies? especially homemade chocolate chip ones"

then he's blurting out, "ilikeyoualot"

you: "what did you say?"

Atsumu

when Atsumu has a crush on you, the WHOLE world AND their mothers will know

well,,, the whole world,,,except you apparently

he can literally ask, "go out with me?" while leaning into you and tucking stray pieces of your hair behind your ear

and you'd just be scoffing, "ha. that's funny, atsumu."

does the thing where he ignores all his fangirls - he ONLY has eyes for you

he's literally ALWAYS staring openly at you

on one of the days, he notices you scrambling around for your history book

he immediately puts his textbook on your table

Atsumu gets scolded by your teacher for you

he definitely nudges you in the middle of class and make you play tic tac toe with him

or draws the worst renditions of your teachers and makes you snicker in class

you're so used to his presence and the smell of his laundry when he leans in too close that on days he's absent from volleyball competitions, you feel...weirdly sad.

and then he's suddenly back and begging you to tutor him

Atsumu gets to be tutored by the smartest girl in class while he takes this opportunity to stare at you - it's a win for him

when he sees the way you furrow your brows and stick your tongue out in concentration, reality is suddenly hitting him HARD

he really has to ask you out properly some time very soon.

can't risk losing you to some other mf lol

has the cutest blush on his cheeks when you steal his stationery

the 3rd years know about his little crush on you

he literally bounces around the front of your house and takes dramatic deep breaths before he rings the doorbell

when you answer the door, Iwa is blinking helplessly at your oversized shirt and shorts

you need to clear your throat multiple times before he snaps out and stutters, "I-I'm here to pass you your work"

you give him the most breathtaking smile and ask him about his day at school

he elaborates about how boring school was and eventually holds up some vitamin gummies, saying, "these aren't much...i just saw these on the way here and -"

and your mom is interrupting Iwaizumi as her gaze jumps from you to him, "Y/N! How dare you hide your boyfriend from your family! C'mon in!"

as she beckons him over, you and Iwaizumi are left blinking at each other

a/n = another (kinda) stupid one while i'm actually suffering from all the mosquito bites i have (i'm dying over here fr)

summary = kageyama mistakes your hickeys for mosquito bites.

warnings = hickeys, mentions of making out, 3rd year kageyama being a little stupid as he is

"what happened to you?"

kageyama's curious frame appeared behind you, making you jump on your bed in surprise. for a moment, you almost forgot he was supposed to come over to your house today; only then realizing that your mom probably opened the door for him, welcoming him with a warm smile as usual.

seeing the puzzled look on your face at his question, kageyama sighed as he came up closer, hand pointing to the few small marks on your neck.

"you should get something that will get the mosquitoes away from your room." he explained, face genuinely concerned as he sat down next to you, seeing you open up the camera app on your phone. "aren't there some scents that make them go away or something?"

his question fell on deaf ears as you were more focused on finding out just what marks was he talking about exactly, an annoyed huff leaving your lips when you couldn't get the angle right to see them in your phone camera.

you stood up, walking over to the big mirror standing in the corner of your room, a focused look on your face as you got your hair away to not disturb your view. kageyama observed in silence, a look of confusion on his face when he watched you laugh at the sight of the marks, your eyes finally catching them in the mirror.

"what's so funny? you really should get some window net for those mosquitoe-"

"kageyama, those aren't exactly mosquito bites."

hearing you say his name stopped him from talking, his face softening up a little, only to be overtaken by confusion right after. you could only look at him, waiting for him to connect the dots in his head.

the moment he finally did, his eyes widened as he quickly looked away from embarrassment.

"oh."

oh.

you laughed again, the sound echoing through your room. he was in his third year of high school, he should've realized sooner, shouldn't he? but at the same time, you were his first-ever girlfriend, first kiss, first anything romantically related, to be honest. it wasn't his fault for not connecting the dots right away.

kageyama recalled the situation from the day before, the thoughts making his cheeks glow a deep shade of red; memories of his hands on your hips, lips moving against his eagerly as he tried not to show just how stressed about all of it he was, seemingly confident in his every move.

it felt right for him to move his lips towards your neck at some point, the gasp you let out at the contact only proving him right. he softly nibbled at the skin, hands squeezing your hips tighter to prevent you from feeling just how shaky they were.

he definitely overheard his older teammates, tanaka especially, talking about it in their previous years of high school, boating about how it's the "thing girls love the most" or something of this sort. he couldn't remember the words correctly, as it was almost a year ago already, but he still had that conversation in the back of his head.

only kageyama forgot about the part where it actually leaves marks.

"you're awfully red right now, tobio." your voice abruptly stopped his trail of thoughts, his awkward and embarrassed face making you giggle a little under your breath as you ruffled his hair. "don't worry about it. my mom hasn't seen them."

he let out a deep breath, one he didn't even know he was holding in, body relaxing a bit at the information.

"she would murder me if she found out, wouldn't she?" he muttered, head instinctively going to rest on your shoulder as you sat down next to him.

"probably."

a silence fell over you two for a moment, your hand coming up to gently brush through his hair, kageyama leaning into your touch.

"but you..." the boy hesitated for a bit, thinking of how to word his thoughts properly. "...liked it, right?"

he heard you hum, nodding your head in response, the slightest bit of embarrassment gracing your face, and it was enough of an answer for him.

kageyama's lips curved slightly in a faint smile.

maybe eavesdropping on his upperclassmen conversations during practice those prior years wasn't all that bad for him after all.

love sick — profiles: ppl who think love sucks + [name]

masterlist — inarizaki dogs | episode one

[name] has been invested in finding “the one” ever since she was little. this was mostly influenced by her parents who were so deeply in love that taught her to seek the kind of love she deserved to have. it became worse when she was 12 and was exposed to the world of romance books, you could say she loved love.

[name] has a sort of “love guru” business going on, except she’s unpaid. it all started during first year, where she helped a guy from her media literacy class named akaashi keiji confess to his long-time crush who was their senior, bokuto koutaro. the confession went well and they ended up dating, bokuto teased his friend to get advice from you and in his words “maybe your crush would like you back” (the response of said friend was “don’t call it a crush, what are we, highschoolers?”).

[name] did end up giving good advice and bokuto’s friend eventually started dating the “crush”. a rumor started spreading that [name] was real-life cupid and a bunch of people started reaching out to her to ask for help. it became such a big deal that [name] ended up creating an email for them to send their love-related concerns (in it, she mentions that to keep in mind her acads come first!).

the mini “business” ended up being a hit and she developed many nicknames in the process, like “resident cupid” and “campus sweetheart”.

[name] is a 2nd year student along with atsumu while kiyoko and semi are 3rd years and kageyama is a 1st year.

[name], kiyoko, and semi are childhood friends (but kiyoko and semi are older than [name] by a year), they lived on the same street, so they’ve practically known each other forever. they all went to the same junior high but split up in senior high school, kiyoko went to karasuno while [name] and semi went to shiratorizawa. this meant it was harder for them to meet kiyoko constantly, [name] and semi had to dorm within campus because they lived a bit far from the school itself.

[name] met kageyama when she went to one of the volleyball tournaments and kiyoko introduced them to each other. they instantly hit it off ([name] found him adorable and so “little brother coded”) because of [name] being so talkative (kageyama kept thinking how she acted so much like hinata).

[name] and atsumu became friends the summer before the start of the first semester, while [name] was moving in to her new dorm. it was very much a meet ugly because atsumu accidentally splashed his drink on [name]’s brand new sweater (and his first reaction was to flirt with her), [name] responds by saying it was alright and ignored his attempts. atsumu became curious and not long after they realized they were assigned to the same hall! (you have no escape now).

atsumu soon realizes the two of you had too similar personalities and became partners in crime. then you soon figure out your lives were more interconnected than you thought (he knew kageyama). you don’t know since when has your life been surrounded by volleyball (you were always the most unathletic person in the room).

it was only until all of your worlds collide one saturday morning where you accidentally make plans with all of them all at once (you were out of it because you stayed up late responding to love advice emails) that they all became friends too (semi and atsumu instantly hit it off, kiyoko is civil with everyone, kageyama was still in miyagi).

you, you were just happy everything in your life was falling into place just the way you like it!

until of course, suna rintarou came into the picture. none other than atsumu’s friend you don’t acknowledge and the name constantly found in the emails you receive.

love sick ! a suna rintarou social media au

synopsis. cupid! calling cupid! as the resident matchmaker slash hopeless romantic of tokyo university, you are the person people look for to get love advice or to set them up with the love of their lives. when suna rintarou comes to you asking for the opposite, to help fend people away from trying to get with him, to the extremes of even asking to fake date you, you couldn't refuse! mostly because you did owe him since he was on the receiving end of a bunch of your clients’ unsuccessful love efforts (hey, you do warn them your matchmaking only has a 62.3% success rate).

Haikyuu Characters' Informal & Formal Speech

Something I find interesting about different languages and cultures regarding sociolinguistics is the entire idea of formality. Of course, there are ways to sound more formal/polite in English and ways to sound more informal/rude depending on word choice (synonyms). But with a language such as Japanese, it's the grammatical structure itself (verb endings, vocab) that changes to convey varying levels of formality.

An example would be:

大丈夫? (informal) vs 大丈夫ですか？(formal) = Are you ok?

daijoubu vs daijoubudesuka

これは本だ (informal) vs これは本です (formal) = This is a book.

korewahonda vs korewahondesu

In a school setting, the younger grades (kohai) will use formal speech with the older grades (senpai) as well as teachers: meaning 1st years will be formal to 2nd and 3rd years, 2nd years will be informal to 1st years but formal to 3rd years, and 3rd years can be informal to both 1st and 2nd years.

This is easily shown in basically any anime but this post will focus on Haikyuu since it's the one I'm most familiar with.

Karasuno: Kageyama and Tsukishima definitely hold a very high level of politeness towards their senpai as they always speak formally towards them and also always call them "full surname-san" (Azumane-san instead of Asahi-san, Sugawara-san instead of Suga-san, Sawamura-san instead of Daichi-san, Nishinoya-san instead of Noya-san). It makes sense for them since in general their personalities are quite strict and rigid. Hinata also speaks formally to his senpai but calls them by their more usual names (Daichi-san, Suga-san, etc) and he tends to forget to speak formally out of sheer excitement (not because he's trying to be rude) so he ends up adding on the formal desu copula to quickly change his informal sentence to be formal at the last second. You might think that Tanaka and Nishinoya are pretty relaxed when it comes to formalities due to their crasser personalities but I would actually say it's more the opposite. They're both characters that really like upholding the entire senpai-kohai relationship and it shows in that they are always respectful to the 3rd years and use formal speech (it's also shown in how they both loveee being called senpai and specifically Nishinoya's relationship with Asahi). They still call the 3rd years by their more common names so they aren't as rigid as Tsukki and Kageyama when it comes to names though. The scenes in season 1 when Noya and Asahi were fighting (specifically the storage room fight) were surprising in particular due to Noya changing to informal speech while arguing with Asahi (his senpai).

some other random formalities I've noticed in the other characters: as mentioned in the anime, Kenma doesn't like any of that hierarchy stuff which is why Hinata is able to continue comfortably speaking informally to him even though Kenma is a senpai. The shock and immediate apology of Hinata when he finds out Kenma is older than him is sensible in the cultural context since there are many people who would get quite offended and angry if a kohai were to be speaking informally towards them. Although Kenma is never shown directly talking to any 3rd years (other than Kuroo, which he speaks informally to since they're childhood friends), I assume he would still speak formally since even though he doesn't find formal speech necessary he would still be aware that others would care about it. When it comes to Mad Dog, a small part of me expected him to be completely informal to everyone since those kind of characters are usually like that in anime but he still keeps a pretty formal tone when talking to his senpais which pleasantly surprised me. As far as I remember watching season 4, I don't think the Miya twins use formal speech when talking to Aran. They don't call him Aran-san or anything either, just Aran-kun, which could be another example of childhood friends not needing formalities even with the age gap.

EDIT: i just remembered that Kageyama is so damn polite that he doesn't even differentiate between the Miya twins by their first names, he calls them both "Miya-san"!

Headcanons of Haikyuu characters confessing to you

This one is for the Karasuno first years, will do a few more for the 2nd + 3rd years and few members of other teams

Will also do a hc of the reader confessing first

Hinata:

It was something you expected because he couldn't be any more obvious about having a crush on you

However, it took way longer than you thought for him to actually stand in front of you

Like this boy have no idea how painfully obvious he was being and everyone had to sit by the side and watch him figure out his feelings in real time

This idiot couldn't differentiate between simply liking someone and a crush

When he finally realised what he felt for you wasn't platonic, he went straight for it

He caught you after class, confessed really loudly

You felt like everyone on that floor was able to hear this idiot's confession of his love for you

He definitely was nervous, considering how loud he was being

When you accepted his confession, he was so happy that he jumped up and hugged you so tightly that you felt like your ribs were going to collapse

There was also a very audible yelp from him from the happiness

Welp, guess now that everyone in the school knows that a certain idiot confessed and is now happily dating the love of his dreams

Kageyama:

Another oblivious idiot on this list

Arguably took long than Hinata to understand his feelings but was also more subtle with his actions

However, everyone except a few was able to tell that he had it bad for you

Would be sneaking glances at you and turning away immediately when you turn to face him

If you ever asked, he would be like "What? No. What are you talking about?"

Even after understanding he had a crush on you, he didn't confess

However, under the help of a few seniors, mainly Sugawara

Our lovely setter prodigy finally decided to face you and express his feelings

It was mainly muttering at first, but after telling him that you couldn't hear him, his voice rose suddenly and went for the overkill

Now the entire sector of the building could hear him

He fried himself immediately after that from embarrassment

But you were nice enough to hold in your chuckle and comfort him, then accepting his confession

Now you had the honour of watching Kageyama turn into a tomato in two seconds

He would be stammering and stuttering all over the place

He was overjoyed, but failed miserably in expressing it coherently

But hey, we love him for that

Tsukishima:

He was well aware of his feelings, but he wasn't ready to admit it

It took him quite some time to come in term with it

And even when he accepted it, he didn't confess immediately

Instead, he was planning strategically on how to confess to you so there will be a higher chance of you reciprocating those feelings back

This isn't how feelings work but we'll give him the credit for putting in the effort

You were kind of shocked when he confessed

You always thought that this guy disliked you, or were at least, indifferent about you, the thought that he liked you did not once show up in your mind

His affections were subtle and only a very few could see that he held you differently from others

His confession was calm, really calm, if it wasn't for the tense muscles and clenched fist, you wouldn't even know that this guy was nervous.

Even after you accepting his confession, his response was more of a "guess you were smart enough to accept me."

But if you squint real hard, you can see a joyous glint in his eyes

He is happy about you reciprocating his feelings, but more than likely he won't outright say it

Since she already gave you love letter, you knew it was impossible to receive a love confession in person now, so you decided to chase her down yourself

You caught her after class one day, then kabedon'ed her so she won't run away again

She was squealing silently and almost died from your action

She thought you were going to beat her up

When you took out a familiar well kept envelop and said that you accept her confession

She practically stopped functioning. It took her several seconds to process what you said

When she finally understood it, she looked at your with sparkling eyes, asking for a reaffirmation

You repeated your words

She got so happy that she was jumping up and down

Some passing students heard the commotion and checked what was happening

She didn't even notice them

She was just happy to finally be with you

Also I don't even know if this counts as hc anymore because it feels kinda long

Don't ask me why yachi's part is so long, she was too cute and my brain turned to a jumbled goo from the cuteness attack so that's probably why I wrote too much
