You can check the first Season here.
Perviously:
Coco: *calmly* First Jaune is fine, second he's with my parents helping with the fashion show
Harriet: *looks at coco*..Is he still with your parents?
Coco: *Talking on the phone* Is Jaune still there......oh....i see....love you, bye. *hangs up* He left a half hour ago, said he was gonna explore atlas.
-----------
Sienna: *to salem* should we go?
Salem: Sienna was it, let's go
-----------
Fran: *To the rest of the group* I'm gonna follow the other 2. They seem to be good company.
Meanwhile
???: You look like you could need some rest. Please have a drink with me
Jaune: I'd be delighted too, miss.....?
Willow: schnee.....but you can call me willow~~
------------------------------------------------------------------
In front of the Schnee Manor.
Salem: *Looking at the bulding* So base of that girl parents information jaune was…
Sienna: Jaune was seen last time helping Mrs. Schnee with some shopping. *She inform* After that, no signs from him.
Salem: I see. Let’s ask Mrs. Schnee where is our king.
Fran: This so exciting.
Sienna ring the bell at the entrance and the door opens reveling an old man from the other side.
Klein: Hello. *Looks at Salem and gets scare* AAH!
Sienna: It ok, she is not going to hurt you.
Salem: *Annoyed* Yet.
Klein: Apologies, I’m the butler of this household. Do you have business with the family?
Salem: I would like to talk with Mrs. Schnee. She has someone that belong to us.
Klein: Someone that belong to you? Oh! Do you mean Master Arc?
Sienna: Master Arc?
Fran: *Texting her daughter everything that is goin on* This is getting good.
Klein: Mrs. Schnee is waiting for you all. Please follow me.
They follow him through the halls of the manor until they ended on a large room. In the middle Mrs Schnee can be seen drinking some tea. Around her they can see so many chairs and couches for a large group of people and on the middle of all this a table fill with so many tea cups.
Willow: *Looks up* Oh! You must be Salem and Sienna. Jaune talk a lot about you two. I was wondering when will you girls show up, but it seems that some of your group are missing.
Fran: They are “busy” at the moment. They will meet us soon.
Willow: Splendid. My name is Willow by the way. Please, take a sit. I have some tea if you girls are thirsty.
Salem moves fast towards her. Her magic is moving all the furniture that is on her way. Until she stops right on her face.
Salem: *Angry* Where is my king?
Willow: *Calm* I’m not your enemy, but I do have some bad news. Please, sit down.
Salem moves back and with her magic she put all the furniture back in place. She takes a sit on one of the chairs. While Sienna and Fran sit on a sofa beside her.
Willow: Jaune was taken again.
Fran: Again? Do you know about the other kidnapped's?
Willow: As I mention earlier, Jaune told me everything about what has happen to him. Even the small details. Like you, your velvets mother, and some how you are here. Why are you here?
Fran: Oh, I don't want to miss what happen next to this story. *She smiles*
Willow: *Giggles* I understand your curiosity.
Salem: *Interrupts them* We are moving away from the main issue here. Who took my king?
Willow: Right, my husband, sorry, my ex-husband didn’t like that I was getting close to jaune.
Sienna: Excuse me?
Willow: Please calm down. We didn’t do anything indecent.
Sienna: *Relief* Oh ok
Willow: But I did try. *Takes a sip of her tea*
Sienna: What!?
Fran: Oh my! *Texting velvet again*
Willow: Any way, he hire some people to get rid of him. But it back fire.
Salem: What happen exactly?
Willow: I was just spending some quality time with Jaune and my son Whitley. It was a beautiful moment.
Flash back
Willow is sitting down on a bench while looking at Jaune play catch with Whitley. Whitley can be seen having the time of his life. Smiles all around.
Willow: (Is being a long time that I seen Whitley this happy)
Jaune throws the football a little higher but Whitley was able to catch it.
Whitley: *Excited* Jaune! Did you see that! I got it! I got it!
Jaune: Nice catch!
Willow feel so happy when hearing his son so excited by something so simple. It was like all the pressure his father put of him was gone for that one second. She is so happy that Jaune was here.
Willow: *she looks at her watch* Whitley, is time for supper. Jaune would you like to eat with us?
Jaune: I don't know. I have people waiting for me.
Whitley: Please Jaune. I want to hear more about your adventures. You gave me your word that you will tell me everything.
Jaune: *Smiles* You are right, I gave you my word. Ok then, what's for dinner?
Whitley: Yess!!
Flash back end
Willow: At dinner he and my son were talk none stop. *smiling at the memory* It reminds me when I was a child spending some time with my father. Anyway, they where talking for so long that he miss the last bullhead. So we let him stay the night.
Flash back
Willow and Klein are guiding Jaune to his room.
Jaune: Thank you for letting me stay.
Willow: Don't need to thank me. I should be the one thanking you. Is being a long time that I saw my son smile so much. Living her can be-
Klein: *Interrupt her* Ma'am, I don't think is a good Idea to talk about that with our guest.
Willow: Right, forget that I say that. Here is your room by the way.
Klein open the door to his room and Jaune got inside. He looks around the room.
Jaune: *Amaze* Its so big *Turns to see willow* Thank you again.
Willow: *smiles* I already told you, you don't need to thank me.
Jaune: Still. Well then I better get some sleep. Goodnight.
Klein: Goodnight Sir
Willow: Goodnight Jaune.
They both close the door.
Klein: Such a nice young man.
Willow: He in did is. Maybe we can conceive Weiss to go out with him or perhaps Winter. For what Jaune told us, it seems that she was extra friendly with him.
Klein: Yes, it will be nice for those girls to have a man like him. If they do, I would be able to sleep peacefully.
Willow: *With a sadden look* Yes, me too.
Klein: *Looks at her* I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you Ma'am.
Willow: It's fine.
Flash back interrupted
Fran: That's it? No romantic setting? No passion?
Salem: I must say, this is quite amusing.
Willow: *Giggles* There is more in the story.
Fran: *Grabs a cup of tea* Go on.
Willow: So later that night I was not able to sleep and went to the kitchen for a cup of tea.
Flash back continue
Willow is waiting for her teat to set. She is wearing her pijamas and a coat for the cold. While she wait her eye where looking at the moon, deep in thought.
Jaune: Can't sleep?
Willow: *Surprise* Oh Jaune, you scare me.
Jaune: Sorry, I didn't mean too.
Willow: Why are you up?
Jaune: The same reason on why you are awake. Something is bothering you, right?
Willow: I'm fine, I was just lost in thought
Jaune: Sorry for intruding but you kind of look sad. We may not know each other for so long, but maybe I can help. Like having an outside perspective.
Willow though for a moment.
Willow: Very well, I tell you. But promise me that you will not share this to anyone.
Jaune: Arc's promise.
Willow: A what?
Jaune: Oh sorry, is kind of a family thing. We always promise on our family name everything that we consider important and we make sure to fulfill that promise no matter what.
Willow: Who came up with that?
Jaune: My Grandpa.
Willow: *Smiles* I see.
Jaune: Soooo what's going on?
Willow: *Gets sadden* You may not notice but my family is not the happiest. I marry a man that turns out that he never love me. He was only after my money. He fool me and treats my kids as pawns for his schemes. I already lost touch of 2 of my kids, Weiss and Winter, and I don't want to lose my son because of him. So I thought, what I can do for him? *looks at the Moon* I try giving him everything he wants, toys, sweets, and even treasures from all parts of the world. But he was always depress. *Looks at Jaune* But then you came and with a simple game of catch you made his day, and later at dinner he had so much fun with your stories. I realize that I... I was doing everything wrong. He didn't want expensive toys or eat candy until he burst. He just wanted someone to be with him. I look at that now, and I'm thankful you're here. But I'm worried what will happen once you leave.
Jaune: Why are you worried?
Willow: Because when you leave he will be alone again.
Jaune: He won't be alone… *Grabs her hand* ...he has you.
Willow: *Looks at him* But I have not been a good mother.
Jaune: True, but that doesn't mean you can't try to be one. Willow, I don't know the magnitude of your problem. But what I can tell you is that it is not too late. It never is. You can change the course of your life. I'll be honest, it won't be easy, but when you get over it, you'll be glad you did.
These words, although they were simple, were what she needed to hear. She was always afraid of doing something to the respect, the fear of losing her legacy, the fear of being alone, but this is not only about her, it is about her family.
Willow: *Gets closer* Jaune, I...
*Bam!*
The kitchen door burst open. The two turn to see a man wearing a white suit. His hair and mustache were the same color and he had fair skin. Jaune doesn't know who he is, but Willow does.
Jacques: So here you were. Who is that guy? One of your lovers?
Jaune: *Angry* Excuse me!
Willow stops him and smiles warmly at him.
Willow: This is Jaune Arc, one of our children's friends. He was playing with Whitley all day today so I let him stay tonight.
Jacques: Whatever you say.
The man leaves the kitchen. Leaving the two of them alone.
Jaune: Who was that guy?
Willow: My husband.
Jaune: Your Husband?! And why did he say those things?
Willow: Most likely, the negotiations did not go well for him. He always comes to pester me when that happens.
Jaune: I'm sorry.
Willow: It's not your fault. He has always been like that. But not anymore.
Jaune: *Scared* Don't tell me you're going to… *Makes the motion of cutting someone's throat*
Willow: *giggles* Oh no, I won't do that. I'm going to do something that I have been doing for a long time, and it's all thanks to you.
Jaune: But I didn't do anything.
Willow: Your words were enough. *She approaches him and kisses his cheek* Thanks so much and good night.
Flash back ends
Willow: The next day I talked to my lawyers. We already had a case ready so we just had to take action. My husband was kicked out of the house and he has no right to talk to me or my children without a lawyer and he can't come near us.
Sienna: Good for you
Salem: I would have killed him.
Fran: And what happened next?
Willow: To be honest, it was a bit stressful and Jaune noticed that. For that reason he stayed a few more days to help me. The time it took you to get here. He was a good support for me. I was going to express what I feel, but my future ex-husband didn't like that.
Salem: *A little angry* What did he do to my king?
Flash back
Willow and Jaune are sitting on the couch in the office that used to belong to her soon-to-be ex-husband.
Willow: Jaune, thank you for being with me in this difficult time in my life.
Jaune: Don't worry. What kind of friend would I be if I didn't help the mother of my friends.
Willow: I'm just that to you? The mother of my daughters, your friends?
Jaune: Well, you are the mom of my friends. I don't know what else to say.
Willow: *Gets closer to him* How would you feel if I wanted to be something more to you?
Jaune: What do you mean?
Willow: *Gets even closer* You see, I want us to be more than just acquaintances.
Jaune: *Leans back* Like friends?
Willow: *Almost in top of him* Mora than that.
Jaune: *Laying on the couch* Best friends?
Willow: *On top of him* No, I want us to be-
*Kaboom!*
The window explodes into a thousand pieces and a group of three masked women appear. Willow and Jaune get up from the couch and turn to see the women.
Woman 1: Take the boy.
One of the women moved quickly towards Jaune and hit him, knocking him out.
Willow: Let him go!
Woman 3: *Points her gun at her* Ah ah ah, we just want the boy.
Willow freezes and the three women jump out of the window. Willow runs to see where they went but there was no sign of them.
Flash back ends
Willow: After that my husband spoke to me through a private number and told me that I will never see my boy toy again, referring to Jaune.
Sienna: That bastard!
Willow: But moments later I got a peculiar call.
Salem: Who called you?
Willow: It was the kidnappers. Apparently my husband paid them to kill Jaune but then they changed their minds and told me that for a certain amount they would return Jaune to me.
Fran: The plot thickens~
Willow: I accepted but I did it to be able to investigate them. I found out who they were and spoke to them again to meet and make the exchange. It was obviously a meet up to arrest them. But something unexpected happened.
Fran: *Excited* What happen?
Willow: They told me that they were going to keep him for themselves.
Salem: THAT?! WHO ARE THESE HARPES THAT WANT TO KEEP MY KING?!
Sienna and Fran are startled by Salem's reaction, but Willow remains calm. She drinks a little more tea and said…
Willow: The Happy Huntresses
Meanwhile
May: Are you sure it's a good idea for us to keep him here?
In a corner of the base, Jaune is tied to a chair while Fiona feeds him.
Fiona: Do you like it? I cook it myself.
Jaune: *Smiling* It's delicious. You could be a good wife in the future.
Fiona: *Blushing and looking away smiling* I'm not that good.
Jaune: But you are!
Robyn: Believe me May, he will be an important piece for our organization. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to prepare my quarters for tonight.
May: What will happen tonight?
Robyn: It's none of your business.
May: Don't tell me you're going to take the boy to your room and-
Robyn: *Blushing* I said "It's none of your business."

Penny being trans + autistic coded made me resonate with her as I am nonbinary and autistic myself. Her being a robot felt like me when I have to hide my neurodivergent traits. Her getting confirmation that she wasn't just a robot/machine but a real girl felt so validating. I don't have to look like everyone else to still be considered "real".
Ironwood's semblance being literal hyperfixiation, something I've dealt with since I have ADHD + autism would have made me feel better about myself. This is a man who, despite everything: his PTSD, being an amputee, still was a kind-hearted man. This is something rarely seen in media. I was happy.
Then they fucked up both Penny and Ironwood in ways that struck me. Penny is hacked into and forced to comply with basically forced suicide- she was to open the vault, then self-destruct.
Ironwood, oh dear god. They couldn't wait to fuck him over. He was so HAPPY to see team RWBYJNROQ. He told them everything about his plan, trusting them with literal GOVERNMENT secrets, giving them a place to stay, FREE weapon upgrades (Atlas is known for its advanced technology), hell even gave them their HUNTRESS LICENSES THREE-ISH YEARS EARLY (which Ruby later uses as a credibility source in her broadcast, which was eerily similar to Cinder's in Volume 3, when she says IRONWOOD CANNOT BE TRUSTED.)
Not to mention that she conveniently forgot she was calling for help from OTHER KINGDOMS. OF COURSE they wouldn't arrive soon enough. And no one had reason to trust her. She's a nobody. She was at the Vytal Festival and her team made it all the way to the singles? Cool. Ruby wasn't the final fighter, hell after the 4 vs 4 match she didn't compete further.
Blake would have obviously been a bad choice: she's a faunus and if anyone knows about the White Fang, they might recognize her.
Yang is more known than Ruby, but the world saw her kick an unarmed teen in the finals round. She doesn't have too good a reputation.
Weiss? She's well known as the Heiress, but also her singing. Having her give the speech is a mixed bag: on one hand, she's a recognizable face. On the other, that's a problem. Her father, the CEO of the SDC, is known for his cruelty. Blake said it herself way back in Volume 1: questionable business practices and partners.
So... How about no broadcast at all? What did her broadcast accomplish?
Nothing. Help didn't arrive and likely caused more panic. Plus, people still had a negative view of Atlas, as the last thing the world saw was Atlesian soldiers turning against civilians.
The last broadcast was before Beacon fell. So likely another hacker giving a message would be met with fear.
And what attracts Grimm? Negativity.
Ruby's broadcast could have been a DEATH SENTENCE to so many. But no, this is treated as the... Right course of action?
Ruby and co. hates Ironwood's plan, yet it's clear they don't have one. RWB spends a lot of time moping around the manor drinking tea. Team YOJR (Yang, Oscar, Jaune and Ren) actually DO SOMETHING. Oscar gets kidnapped and they chase after him. Ren rightfully points out that NONE OF THEM SHOULD BE DOING THIS. But that goes against the Hivemind™, so he must apologize and agree to whatever the fuck Ruby decides to do.
Which is NOTHING! RWBY didn't even take down the hound: WILLOW and WHITLEY did. A drunk woman and an unarmed teen defeated it.
Oscar is the one who blows up the whale (with his time bomb? huh??)
Ruby whines that it's all too much, cries on a staircase while her sister (remember that Ruby and Yang are related????) comforts her. The scene has no emotional depth because the two barely interact anymore.
OH GOD AND WHEN YANG TAKES A HIT FROM NEO THAT WAS MEANT FOR RUBY IT TAKES HER OUT COMPLETELY. AURA? GONE. HELL, SHE'S EVEN UNCONSCIOUS. I swear it's like the animation budget could only afford to have ONE character react, and it's Blake "sad kitty face" Belladonna. Not Ruby, who is her sister. WHO HAS A SPEED SEMBLANCE. But no, they just watch her fall, not knowing if she's alive.
Ruby has more of a reaction to CRESCENT ROSE, HER FUCKING WEAPON falling.
Which is retconned so hard in the Vol 9 trailer, where she tells Neo "I hope it was worth it" before falling into the void. Huh??
Anyways I'm rambling again but I am so angry!
-🎼
Never, ever, EVER apologize for rambling. I LOVE hearing peoples thoughts and sometimes it's a really nice feeling to let out your frustrations and anger towards something that has caused you harm and it really REALLY sounds like this caused you a lot of harm and so I do not blame you one bit for being hurt and angry. I should apologize for this taking so long. This was a lot and I needed to sort my thoughts and even so I probably missed some points so I also apologize for that.
Penny and Ironwoods biggest mistake was trusting and being kind to RWBY. They lied and betrayed James and treated him like garbage even though he showed them nothing but kindness and did whatever he could to help them and listened to them. Penny was told what to do and think far more so then James ever supposedly did. Ruby decided to give her a new body, decided she didn't like how James was treating her and that she thought James was a bad person, and decided that Penny was better off with them. Penny stopped being able to make her own decisions once she started hanging out with RWBY and co.
Really though what did they all think was going to happen when they sent out a message that matched beat to bear a lot of what Cinder said before Atlas fell? Did she think about the panic that would cause? Did she forget she was worried about Ironwood telling everyone back in Volume 7 because of the panic it would cause everyone??? Did that just conveniently slip her mind?
I honestly think Weiss would have been the best choice to give the broadcast of them all but I don't think they should have sent out the broadcast in the first place. It should realistically only cause panic and death but the narrative is gonna yadda yadda right past all of that.
Oh god yea RWBY and co complain and whine and scream that Ironwoods plan is bad whilst offering up no alternatives then just taking his plan and acting like it was theirs the whole time. They even did this in Volume 7 when in episode 2 they where worried about James telling Atlas about Salem and then turning around and acting all happy and shocked when James told everyone near the end of the season as if they wanted him to the whole time and not the other way around.
Man RWBY really did jack shit all volume huh? As you said all the major things side characters did: Fight James TWICE: Winter, Emerald, and JNRO.
Try and rescue Oscar: JRY
Blow up the Whale: Oscar
"Redeem" Hazel and Emerald: Again Oscar
Defeat the hound: Whitley and Willow
Launch the tower: Penny
Help defend Mantel against the swarm of Grimm: FNKI and the soldiers that all died trying to buy Ruby time while she cries in a mansion.
Like what does this girl do to help any of the people SHE trapped???
Oh god Ren, poor Ren, he's finally seeing the light but he can't stray from the Hivemind so he needs to get back in, we can't question the pure and perfect Ruby her plans are always right even if it causes Salem to get two relics and destroys the only kingdom with an army or the technology to restore global communications in the process.
Yea you're right like CRWBY can make excuses all day for why Ruby didn't react to Yang falling and MAYBE I can buy her not using her Semblance because she's in shock but not crying or reacting at ALL to her supposed death?? Why does her weapon get a more emotional response then her SISTER? Why is only BLAKE allowed to be sad about Yang supposedly dying? Why does fucking WINTER have more of a reaction to her sister dying?
Why are all the people we are supposed to be rooting for so fucking unlikeable???

What’s your least favorite season of RWBY and why?
2 and 5. Both had some great stuff, but it's buried by the mediocrity of the rest of the volume.
2 specifically because it's incredibly disjointed, even more so than volume 1 imo. Plus, while I'll defend Jaune and his development to the death, I think the Weiss/Jaune/Neptune love triangle was ultimately wasted screen time. Like keep the story line about Jaune unlearning his toxic masculinity, but leave out the "I will stop pursuing this woman so that you may pursue her instead. And we shall do this without Weiss's input on whether she even wants either of us." Like his subplot with Pyrrha would have been enough.
And 5 specifically because it's boring. Like, listen, I love a lot of the character bonding and progression made in vol 5. I love the Maiden fight, I love the Raven twist, I love "YoU kIDNapPed HEr?" But the problem I've always had with it is that it's presentation is...bland. Not bad, just bland.

How I would do RWBY pt. 1
Revised Timeline of story events (This is not a script, but a semi-loose outline of the story)
Red, White, Blake, and Yellow trailers can stay. They’re perfectly fine as is, barring some early series production foibles (and the voice acting).
Series would be split into three arcs with three seasons each. 1. The School Arc 2. The World Travel Arc 3. The War Arc. (4. The epilogue season of mini episodes just to cap a few things off)
School Arc.
Season One.
Ruby is shopping.
Roman tries robbing the place.
Ruby gets involved because ‘fight good yes’.
Fights Roman and goons.
Beats goons but starts losing against Roman.
Glynda intervenes.
Roman am-scrays and Ruby is detained by Glynda.
This is not the first time Ruby has been called in like this.
She’s been doing free-lance vigilante stuff for a while now.
Tai comes in, worried to hell and back… again.
It’s almost routine by now, but he has a heart attack each time.
Ozpin gets wind of it this time.
Is impressed by her and offers her position at school.
Ruby says yes.
Tai says Ruby is too young to be-
Ruby says yes.
Tai keeps trying to argue-
Ruby. Says. YES!
She wants to be a huntress like her mother was more than anything else in the world.
Next few days is various entities trying to get Tai to greenlight the idea.
Ruby constantly begs, Yang says it’s a good idea, Ozpin is quite forward as to the benefits, et cetera.
Tai relents when Qrow calls him and argues that Ruby is never going to stop her vigilante thing and should at least be doing it legally and with training.
Tai tells Yang to watch over Ruby.
Yang only promises to try.
Ruby instantly loses her after they arrive at Beacon.
Yang tried, just not very hard. Wants Ruby to be independent, both from her and Tai.
Ruby meets Weiss.
Carefree and rebellious Ruby immediately clashes with stuck-up and bad-tempered Weiss.
Blake intervenes, slags off the SDC, everyone walks away annoyed.
Ruby meets Jaune.
Jaune is less bumbling.
More of an Octavian figure. Meek of body, but quite strong of tactical and strategic mind.
Jaune meets Pyrrha.
Has no idea who she is. Not all that into celebrity gossip, especially whole kingdoms away.
Comes off as polite and charming, if a bit oblivious.
Ruby encounters Blake on her own.
Says thanks for helping ward off angry Weiss.
Blake seems a little standoffish but Ruby’s infectious friendliness makes her give her a chance.
Have actual conversation about books.
Have minor debate over the exact meaning behind the symbolism of a character in a story.
Y’know, nerd shit.
Orientation.
Ruby and Weiss talk again.
Goes roughly as canon. IE: poorly.
Ren and Nora introduced, again, roughly as canon.
Ren talks a bit more, less of Nora motor-mouth with him just being there.
Have brief conversations with Jaune and/or Pyrrha.
Relic hunt starts.
Catapult!
Ruby and Weiss meet each other faster than usual.
Grimm show up and they kill them together.
Weiss calls her an idiot but agrees that she’s at least competent in a fight.
Blake and Yang meet each other.
Have actual conversation.
Blake tries to be standoffish and curt but Yang’s winning smile and corny sense of humor makes it hard.
Jaune and Pyrrha meet again.
Jaune has actual plan to get relic.
Have conversation about aura and semblances in a way that doesn’t make Jaune seem like he was dropped multiple times on his head as a child.
Says that he hasn’t unlocked his semblance yet, but he says that he scored high enough on his aptitude tests to make up for it.
Ren and Nora meet up because… well, duh.
Meet Jaune and Pyrrha and decide to team up to speed the overall process up.
Bumble into pissing off giant grimm.
Ruby and Weiss start arguing, come to brief blows even.
Teenagers, am I right?
Big grimm shows up.
They bond a little by fighting it off together.
Main characters start to coalesce at the relic site.
Future JNPR is there too.
Everyone has brief hello with each other.
The two large grimm from earlier show up.
Each would-be team gets one.
Happy teamwork scene.
Kill the grimm, get the relics, same old shit.
Teams RWBY and JNPR are made official.
Team CFVY are present as the designated senpai group.
Cue bonding scenes.
Ruby and Blake create book club with Ren, Jaune, and Yatsuhashi.
Yang, Fox, and Ren have Kung-Fu training scenes.
Velvet passes around the collection plate for Wild Call, a large and helpful faunus rights group.
Blake and Velvet are kind of tense with each other. No one knows why.
Then again, Blake is pretty tense with everyone, but especially Velvet and Weiss.
(Velvet knows that Blake is a faunus and dislikes that she hides it. Blake dislikes Weiss because Schnee.)
Ruby is happy to talk to Coco-senpai and her crazy purse mini-gun.
Nora, Yang, and Pyrrha have push up contest. Ruby wins.
Weiss helps Ruby study with things like flash cards, note taking strategies, and other things she ignores.
Weiss has tense moment or two with Ruby but Yang delivers some context as to why Ruby is so unruly.
Mom died, dad got WAY overprotective of Ruby and more than a little distant with Yang.
Ruby always wanted to be like her badass of a mother and saw their father as being in the way of that.
Weiss empathizes to a degree.
Weiss and Yang team up to be the semi-responsible ones for Ruby.
CRDL are cunts.
Act racist to Velvet.
Push Jaune and Ruby around a little.
Say ungentlemanly things to Yang and Pyrrha. (They do it to all of the girls, but to them the most)
Cunt stuff.
CVFY can’t do much because A. They can’t be brawling with underclassmen and B. They wouldn’t be able to not kill the little pricks and that’d be a bad look for them.
JNPR is just trying to ignore them.
This leads to a confrontation between CRDL and RWBY.
They make a bet over a set of sparring matches.
If CRDL wins then RWBY has to operate as their maids or something creepy like that for the school year.
If RWBY wins then CRDL has to fuck off for the school year.
Best of four matches with a team battle if a tiebreaker is needed.
Ruby actually loses to Cardin due to his tankiness, him being the most (IE: only) competent part of his team, and secret cheating.
Weiss beats Russel rather handily.
Blake loses to Dove due to him cheating and everyone still not noticing yet.
Yang traumatizes Lark as a warning.
Team battle!
CRDL takes an early advantage due to RWBY having some coordination issues.
RWBY figures out that CRDL is cheating via wire tapping into their team communications.
Ruby takes the reigns.
Coordinates with her team via code with an old inside joke to Yang, a literary reference to Blake, and one of those studying tricks to Weiss.
They act in ways that CRDL aren’t expecting and can’t cheat around.
RWBY wins.
Yang and Blake take CRDL aside and threaten them that if they renege at all they will make what Yang did to Lark look like a massage, not to mention telling the staff about the cheating.
They are scared into avoiding RWBY and co. where convenient.
CRDL slink off to be cunts elsewhere.
Pyrrha, because fuck ‘will they won’t they’, asks Jaune out on a date.
Jaune, breaking dense anime boy tradition, says yes.
They’re cute together and N+R support them.
Beginnings of Vital Festival starts.
Team RWBY sees Sun causing chaos.
He briefly introduces himself to them and then runs off to cause more monkey mischief.
SSN are right behind him and are rude bastards who don’t introduce themselves while fleeing the cops.
Penny meets team in glorious awkwardness.
Ciel, whom Weiss recognizes from Atlas (they went to the same starter school together), is constantly chasing after her and her antics.
Her other two teammates are just combat bots with special retrofits. (They’re prototypes for Penny)
Gives context of tournament and her place in it like an awkward robot would.
Weiss says something pretty damn racist directed towards Sun.
RBY call out Weiss on racism.
Blake gets angry with her.
The topic of the White Fang comes up.
R + Y both agree with Weiss that the White Fang are assholes, despite also condemning Weiss’ racism.
Weiss has horror stories about what they’ve done, including kidnapping her at young age.
Points to her scar for emphasis.
Blake can’t argue against what they’re talking about but counters with the horrible stuff the SDC has done across planet.
General scumbag corporate crap as well as paramilitary actions that break most international laws.
R + Y also agree with Blake that SDC sucks too.
Weiss is a little taken aback.
She genuinely had no clue that things like that were happening.
Blake lets slip that she was White Fang.
Runs off before people can react.
Team gives chase.
Blake thinks they’re going to turn her in and/or lynch her.
They only want to talk to her and get the full story.
Weiss is conflicted about things.
Sun finds Blake, says that he remembers her from a White Fang attack in Vacuo, despite the masks they wear, and wants some answers.
Sun says that general opinion among faunus (at least in Vacuo and Mistral) is that the White Fang are asshole supremacists that cause more problems than they ever solve or even try to solve.
Blake gets reality check about White Fang.
Confesses that she was involved with some acts of violence but thought it was for the greater good.
She makes a point of saying that she, herself, did not kill anyone. If anyone was killed it was not by her.
If someone died, then it was either an ‘accident’ someone else did or Adam swung the sword.
Also thought that the genuinely horrible stuff she heard was propaganda or just Adam being a dick.
It was said dickishness of Adam’s cell that was tolerated by larger organization that made her leave and try to repent.
She had no idea that Adam was only marginally more of a lunatic than other cell leaders.
Blake happens to see telltale signs of White Fang attack. Uses them as an excuse to change subject.
Sun gives her benefit of the doubt on her attempt at personal redemption and assists her in trying to stop terrorist plot.
Penny has nothing better to do so she gives Ciel the slip and starts helping Ruby look for Blake.
Have conversation about friendship, freedom, and weapons.
Weiss airs concerns to Yang about future of team.
She seems scared at the idea of losing a friend like Blake.
White Fang are taking orders from Torchwick and his goons.
Blake tries to appeal to their good side.
They call her and Sun race traitors and try to kill them.
Blake and Sun vs Torchwick.
Neo (Roman’s adopted daughter) shows up to help Torchwick.
White Fang go all out.
This is a problem.
RWY and Penny arrive to brawl.
Penny solves problems.
Sun and Penny take on the White Fang
Roman + Neo are final boss of season for RWBY.
Hard fought fight, but it is clear that RWBY is going to win.
White Fang have contingency explosive.
No one important dies, but Penny is grabbed by her superiors in the confusion.
Weiss and Blake confrontation.
Both apologize for the mistakes in their earlier arguments and for flying off the handle.
Both still have rose-tinted glasses about their respective sides but the tint is wearing off.
Blake stops hiding being a faunus because the rest of the world isn’t as horrible and racist as the supremacist terrorists told her it was.
Agrees to be more transparent to her team.
Weiss agrees that #notallfaunus and that the SDC has done some dirt.
Torchwick meets with mysterious benefactor about problems with latest job.
Cinder, Emerald, Mercury, and Adam tell him not to worry and that Evil Plan is still a go.
Season one done.

Sooo….about that RWBY Volume 8 Official Trailer…
Yeah actually going to muse about the trailer this time for a bit.
“…Atlas is only Salem’s current target. She’s not hiding anymore and once she’s done here, she’ll move onto the rest of Remnant.”   “…We need to warn them!” “…There are people here who need us right now.” “…But this isn’t just about just Atlas, it is about all of Remnant.”   “You’re still worried about Mantle? Salem will destroy Atlas and with it, any hope that humanity has left!”
Since the CRWBY Writers mentioned that V8 will only be 1-2 days in RWBY’s timeline, then this will probably mean that what we see in the episodes will be a matter of hours passing between our heroes and their conquests.
Judging by what was shown in the trailer, my assumption is that the time will be split between two factions---Jaune, Yang and Ren and Ruby, Weiss, Nora and Blake plus Penny.
In the V8 teaser clips, Yang mentioned “the others missing out”.
So based on the trailer, it seems that the group were divided on their next cause of action with some characters wishing to focus on aiding the remaining People of Mantle left stranded down in the city while the others return to Atlas to try and reason with Ironwood; perhaps negotiate a temporary truce with him as a means of finding a solution to avoiding conflict with Salem, now that she was in Atlas.
I assumed this based on the lines said by Nora and Ren in the trailer. So from the get-go, our heroes will be split up between YRJ heading down to Mantle (where they will ultimately reunite with Oscar) and RWNB plus Penny who will go to Ironwood (and the Ace Ops).
As always, the volume trailers usually has footage gathered from the first few episodes of the season. Last time for V7, the trailer contained footage from the first three episodes of that season. So assuming the same thing, let’s say the V8 trailer contained footage from the first three-four chapters of the volume; leaving everything else a mystery.
It may also seem like in the event of Oscar getting kidnapped, there is chance that RWNB wouldn’t even know of this since they will be up in Atlas.
Since V6, it was alluded by Arthur Watts that one factor to thwarting Salem’s plans was “Ironwood coming to his senses and calling upon aid from Vacuo”
Forget our heroes going to Vacuo. It seems like the plan is to BRING VACUO TO ATLAS! So I’m curious if part  of V8 is our heroes convincing Ironwood to do this but we’ll see.
What I’d actually love to see is the Happy Huntresses making a potential return to help YRJ down in Mantle.
In the trailer, YRJ was seen riding along the same terrain where we first met the Huntresses in V7CH5, so I’m hoping that after saving Oscar from the Bloodhound, YRJ plus Oscar bump into the Huntresses who decided to work with them. That’s what I’d like to see. But we’ll see.
Beyond that, I don’t have much else to comment on with the trailer outside of what I’ve already said. So that’s it for now.

Volume 8 Episode 2 “Refuge” thoughts
...
Yeah I got nothing this kinda wasn’t good. I watched it twice within the first hour, once alone and once with friends, and I’ve still forgotten most of the episode when it’s been less than twelve hours since then. You know that problem some folks have with RWBY where nothing between the first and last three episodes of the season matter, and those are the ones filled with plot development? This kinda felt like that where only the last two minutes were what I’d consider “relevant.” There’s worse episodes, but few are as... boring.
This was far from Robyn’s worst scene, but I feel like CRWBY knew what they were doing with that fakeout of making it look like Robyn was blaming Qrow. I feel like the dyanmic between Robyn, Qrow, Watts and Jacques would be interesting but it’s undercut by Watts and Qrow basically sitting out the scene barring four lines between the two of them (Granted for Watts, they’re good lines!). Robyn’s not as bad as she was in Volume 7 and is show regret for her part in how things went sour, but I’m not forgiving based off one good scene, especially with the show brushing her involvement in Clover’s death under the bed if Qrow’s anything to go by.
Qrow declaring that he’s gonna kill Ironwood is... stupid! If Qrow wants to make a list of “People that got me in jail” well Qrow... you’re top of the list after Tyrian. You’re the one who worked with the serial killer that tried to kidnap your niece and tried to kill to kill you twice last night. You fucking melon. I think it’s safe to call an IronQrow grudge match for the end of the season that will (if James is dying) be his swan-song fight. I’m going to assume it’s well animated unless they backloaded all their fights again. If I feel particularly optimistic going into it, I may even hope it’s well written.
Team ORJY are... existing. Yang was Yangry and I tuned her out, though I did catch her being a white savior so I guess we’re not allowed to bring up That Time Yang Watched A Faunus Be Racially Harrased from Volume 1 anymore. Ren’s still his Volume 7 self in that he’s a surly asshole (Ironically I feel the entire team should be acting like Ren but because everyone else isn’t, he just comes off as a moody loser), still betting that any scene explaining Ren’s behavior will be cut or pushed back. Jaune’s still not allowed a clean ‘cool’ moment without being played for comedy, and Oscar... had a character beat.
In that it’s just him going “I really don’t like the merge with Ozpin” for the fifth time, and Ozpin going “Yeah it sucks, I’m sorry.” Oscar trying to sell that he felt like part of the team when the majority of his interactions with RWBYJNPR have been shallow or involve them abusing him rings hollow though. The only substantial conversations he’s had with anyone in that group were with Ruby, and maybe Jaune.
Oh, and he talked to Blake that one time in the Brunswick episodes which is... more than Ruby can say.
I’m not sure how to feel about the focus the Happy Huntresses got this episode. Not that was it was bad content. It wasn’t. But you know how RWBY has that problem with character bloat and allocation of screentime to the wrong plots and characters, leaving some feeling cruciall underdeveloped? Yeah? Just saying.
The Nora and Weiss scene was the funniest joke involving Nora since Volume 5. The Penny/Ruby scene feels like a forced callback to Volume 2 and I think Ruby’s a colossal idiot for the whole “Ironwood was lying to you” thing (Ruby he wasn’t even talking to Penny there he was pretty firmly speaking to you there, and if you think he’s lying about the fact that Salem will kill people, I encourage you to try and go for a diplomacy ending in that Stellaris game you’re running in your potato brain).
The Beast is thankfully kinda cool. It’s amazing what actually letting the Grimm be effective does for my opinion of them. This is the most interesting any singular part of the series has been for theory-crafting since like... Volume 4? It’s interesting to speculate on if the Beast is simply Salem’s magnum opus in terms of Grimm augmentation, if it’s an old Grimm that’s so old it’s gained sentience, or if it’s a potentially human/Grimm hybrid. I called Oscar would get kidnapped this episode but like this was still the best scene. I like that you can see the Beast stalking them throughout the episode. And good job to Jason Liebretch for getting his voice that low.
I even got to see Ren hit a wall with his face again. Glad we’re getting that seasonal traditional out of the way fast.
I won’t call this episode bad. I’ll just call it exceptionally forgettable. Like even a friend of mine who lives and breathes RWBY admitted that she was having trouble remembering the episode. The Beast was cool, I hope it remains cool, but otherwise... I feel safe to say this episode can be skipped barring the Beast reveal unless you really like the Happy Huntresses.

Iceberg Week 2020, Day 1-Double Date: What a Wonderful Wintery Day (feat. Rosegarden)
[Ah, Winter. Not the military sibling, but the season. It’s been ages ever since Ruby and her friends could enjoy a nice break in the Winter from all the chaos of Grimm, and the whole war they had the pleasure of being unintentionally drafted for.
Certainly, it was no problem for Weiss Schnee, and her boyfriend, Neptune Vasilias. She and Ruby/Oscar had gathered for a Winter double date that was on the books for a while. But due to schedule conflicts with their respective missions couldn’t be done right away.
But they were here now, and they in fact, did have all day. Ruby and Weiss sat at a bench having coffee while waiting on their boyfriends. On the other side of the park they were in had been Neptune and Oscar walking back to their lovers with coffee and sweets.
Oscar wore a bulkier overcoat that had been the same color as his coat from the war. This time, he wore thermal gloves and a red ushanka baring Ruby's rose emblem. And he wore spiked boots for good measure like he would back on the farm for harsh weather at this season.
Neptune, meanwhile, wore a red parka and hoodie, with thicker jeans and baring the SDC snowflake insignia on the back to symbolize his relationship with Weiss. Instead of his goggles, Neptune wore orange-tinted sunglasses while they trudged their way back.]
Oscar: And then Sherry realized that it was the Prime Minister's son whose drink she spilled. She was so freaked out that she had to ask his guards not to tackle the beer tap!
Neptune: Geez! Mistral seems a lot more stringent nowadays, huh?
Oscar: Try littering near the Parliament building.
Neptune: Think I'd rather stick with not having my goggle lens cracked into my eyes.
Oscar: Probably better that you avoid it. So Neptune, how long have you and Weiss been dating?
Neptune: About 10 months now. How about you and Ruby?
Oscar: Close to a year.
Neptune: Outmatched. Well then.
Oscar: Something like that. You guys met at Beacon, right?
Neptune: Yeah, in Semester 2 of Year 1. We went to the dance together, but I didn’t wanna make things weird in case Jaune wanted to go out with her instead.
Oscar: So you guys shared her?
Neptune: Nah, Jaune was originally gonna go for Weiss, but Pyrrha was feeling pretty lonely and he went out with her instead.
Oscar: Sounds to me like the War didn’t give you two much room to talk back in Vacuo.
Neptune: Well, with the Crown kidnapping folks for their Semblances, we really had our hands tied while you guys were Relic hunting.
Oscar: Yeah, fair enough. Where do you wanna get with Weiss now?
Neptune: Right now, we’re mostly just living close together due to our duties. The rest of the Schnees are still debating on how fit Weiss is for being head of SDC. Whitley is trying to screw things up with getting a bunch of their dad’s loyalists to lobby against her. And the military is having a hard time believing Weiss could be fit to cooperate with them since she and the others defected from General Ironwood’s task force during the Crisis.
Oscar: *frowns* You’d think that the General’s honorable discharge would’ve cut us all some slack.
Neptune: I hear ya. Honestly, it makes me wish I’d rather be living in Argus with her. But Vale is her home now, so I don’t wanna judge or force her into it. I just want things to be right after the war is all.
[The boys eventually arrived at their destination to see Ruby and Weiss sitting at the bench.]
Weiss: *looks up* Neptune! *skips over to Neptune and hugging him* Ruby and I were just about to come get you.
Neptune: *kisses Weiss’ head* Hi, honey. We just got wrapped up taking the scenic route.
Ruby: *hugs Oscar* You’re not giving Neptune too much trouble, are you, Oscar?
Oscar: *hugs Ruby back* Hey, he started it. I just wanted to finish it before meeting up with you.
Ruby: *looks at Oscar* What’d you get this time?
Oscar: One strawberry fudge chunk brownie for you, cookie. *hands to Ruby*
Neptune: And, some toasted spinach and provolone biscuits for you and me, Snow Angel. *hands to Weiss*
Weiss: *takes bag* Wow. I thought these were out of stock today. Thank you, Neptune.
Ruby: Thanks, Oscar. I don’t really know how to thank you for some of your gifts, but- -
Oscar: *cups Ruby’s face in hands* You don’t have to say anything.
[Oscar gave Ruby a kiss on the nose, which made her utter a surprised squeak as she pocketed her brownie. She held her coffee in her left hand as she took Oscar’s while Weiss and Neptune finished their coffee. Weiss leaped on top of Neptune’s back, prompting him to carry her in a piggyback manner as they looked into the snowy horizon of the park.]
Weiss: *rests head on Neptune's shoulder* It looks utterly beautiful today.
Oscar: It really does. Where should we start?
Neptune: Mmm…I kinda wanted to hang by the lake for a bit.
Ruby: Hey, yeah. Dad and I used to walk Zwei here, and that was our usual resting spot.
Weiss: Off we go then, Sea King. Giddyup!
Neptune: As you wish, Snow Angel.

Just Finished RWBY Volume 2...
...and HOLY HECK IT GOT BETTER.
[Warning: Spoilers for Volume 2 and Long Post.]
New antagonists! More huntsman action! More characters and interactions! And the fights, tho. THE FIGHTS!
*Ahem* Okay, clearly I just need to start from the beginning...
Episode 1
We start the new season by being reintroduced to our new antagonists, Emerald Sustrai and Mercury Black. They may be villains, but they're also obviously teens (Mercury radiates prick energy) and they're dynamic is entertaining. Also, RIP Tukson, he seemed like a nice dude...
We then cut back to Team RWBY and JNPR, who are apparently on break at the moment. It's also nice to see Sun again, and we also get to meet Neptune. Anyways, someone throws a pie in Weiss face, and you know what that means...
FOOD FIGHT!!!
Seriously, THESE KIDS ARE CRAZY. Ruby can apparently surf on lunch trays! Weiss used ketchup and a freakin' swordfish like Myrtenaster! Blake used baguettes and a sausage link like Gambol Shroud! Freakin' YANG was punching things with TURKEY! JAUNE... threw a melon, that was cool; nice to see that he's losing the noodleness of his body. NORA RIPPED OUT A PIPE, STUFFED IT TO A MELON, AND CALLED IT MAGNHILD! Note to self: never challenge Pyrrha to a fight near a vending machine (or anytime, really). Ren can kick WATERMELONS, and fight with LEEKS. HOW CAN THEY EVEN DIGEST ALL THAT FOOD!?
RIP Neptune's hair though, I hear grape is hard to wash out...
Then we cut back to the White Fang and Torchwick, who are then met with Mercury, Emerald, and later the great Cinder Fall herself. I'll admit, Mercury's funny but a jerk, and Emerald... I'm pretty sure I was mentally screaming "YOU'RE BEING MANIPULATED" when I saw her and Cinder. First she doesn't give Emerald a hug, then she tells her to not think and just obey? RED FLAGS. RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE.
Oh, speaking of Cinder, while she does radiate boss energy, I'm glad that I don't personally like her. I don't know what it is, but it might be the fact that she's treating everyone else like her pawns (and considering she used a chess piece later in this volume, I wouldn't be surprised). I mean, good villain, but like any good villain, I want her to get roasted, though that might not work given her Semblance.
Also, Roman Torchwick, you beautiful jerk, never change. I love ya, but I also love seeing you get dragged, which is what Emerald did to you at the end of this. Yep, I'm on board for this season!
Also, the new opening. I thought nothing could top "This Will Be The Day." I was wrong. Haven't listened to all of it yet, but "Time To Say Goodbye" SLAPS.
Episode 2
So, several things. There's board games, insert Yu-Gi-Oh reference here... Yang has too much power. Also, if I remember the lingo right, then this is also the episode where the White Rose shippers got crumbs, the White Knight shippers were once again denied, and where the Iceberg shippers were born (while the rest of us were titling our heads in confusion with Jaune). Jaune continues to be a social dork (what's with the blonde boys blowing Blake's secret? Don't think I've forgotten about Sun...). Blake is being consumed with the burden of RESPONSIBILITY. I feel that Blake. Oh, and the ending...
Why do out villains have to be clever enough to infiltrate the actual school!? And Weiss' "We're doomed." I hope that's not secret foreshadowing...
Episode 3
Jaune fails yet again at wooing Weiss (at least Yang comforts him at the end), and the gang begins their espionage. We meet Penny again, Weiss deals with her past, albeit briefly, and Penny... oh boy. She's hiding something, and the hiccups make it obvious. What could it possibly- oh...
Episode 4
Most of us had our suspicions, what with Penny's awkward demeanor and ludicrous super strength, but yep, she's a robot! Aw, get yourself a real one like Ruby. Oh, and Neptune's useless with Yang around. Speaking of, HEY, good to see you again, Junior! So Blake and Sun intercept the White Fang rally and... oh fudge they got giant robots. BAIL! We also get to see Neptune's weapon and Sun's semblance (before they nope off the road and leave the rest of the fighting to RWBY, while they go off and get ramen, the jerks...). Also, nice to see that they have team attack names (I believe some of them double as ship names), and this is where we get to meet the Ice Cream Queen Neopolitan (not to be confused with the now officially dubbed Ice Queen Weiss Schnee. If even the villains are calling you that, then congrats, you have a new title)! Neo then proceeds to give them the slip, and I personally believe that Yang only disliked Weiss' pun because it highlighted her failure.
C'mon Yang, at least she's TRYING!
Episode 5
Pyrrha is a combat queen. 'Nuff said. Suck it, CRDL.
Oh no. Mercury is both a smart aleck AND smart. This will not end well.
Blake, take a break. No, seriously, working yourself to death just because you think you can doesn't mean you should. You will only feel worse. TAKE A BREAK.
Well Jaune, mission failed. You'll get her next time.
Pyrrha Nikos. Sweetie. We're talking about Jaune Arc here. He's not gonna get the hints you're dropping unless that "hint" is a full blown irrefutable confession so obvious that even he can't screw it up. I know you want to help him because you like him (and yes, even like like him), but it's clear Weiss isn't interested, at least not now. Capitalize on that!
And our villain group continues to be dastardly. *Chuckles* We're in danger.
Episode 6
The dance draws near, and it seems that both Blake AND Jaune could use a pep talk!
Poor Blake. It appears your faunus trait makes you more cat-like than just the ears.
Also, poor Ren. He just wants a nice bath, but alas, the power of bromance.
Oof, tough love from Yang. Pretty good flashback, though. Also, Pyrrha, your selfless nature will be your undoing, listen to Nora.
...oh God, if I'm saying "listen to Nora" when the world isn't ending, we might ACTUALLY be in danger.
Aw, the dance looks fun. Poor Jaune, tho. Don't worry, at least Yang, Blake, and Sun are having a good time (and this is the part where I realize I'm becoming a SunnyBee shipper, crap). Poor Ruby, having to wear heels. Don't worry, Ozpin will keep you company.
Oh crap, the villain kids are here! What are you up to!?
Episode 7
This one gets the runner up for my favorite episode. Alternatively, I give it the title "Team Leaders Know What's Up."
Jaune, you may be a dumbass, but you're the rare "Surprisingly Competent Dumbass With A Heart Of Gold," and you get my respect for that. Being socially awkward with Ruby? Comedy gold. Putting things into perspective for Neptune? Props, my dude. Comforting Pyrrha? Friendship goals (even though it should be more than friendship goals, but hey, you put on the dress, I'll give you that). Nice dance moves, by the way, JNPR.
As for Ruby... drinking Jaune's punch? Iconic. Noticing Cinder sneaking away? Nice. Fighting her in heels of all things? You, my dear red reaper, are on another level. A shame that Ironwood couldn't get there faster and that Cinder had to bail, but oh well.
Also: Penny continues to be heckin' adorable. I will never NOT stan.
Episode 8
HEAR YE, HEAR YE, THE NOBLE DOG ZWEI HAS GRACED US WITH HIS ADORABLE PRESENCE. Tremble before his ability to fit in boxes and melt Weiss' heart. Oh, and RWBY gets exposed to Ozpin, but surprise! Even Ozpin doesn't have to play by the rules! Though that could get him in trouble with Ironwood later...
Why does this show keep showing me characters that I want to get to know better in record time!? Team CFVY looks so interesting, and it's nice to see Velvet again! Ooh, I hope we see them more later...
Also, Professor Oobleck, I know we saw a bit of you in Volume 1, and I wish we got to know you better. You seem delightful.
Episode 9
Okay, my previous statement of DOCTOR Oobleck still stands. I love this chaotic fast man.
He's both funny AND deep! His reaction to Zwei? Comedy gold! Him picking apart RWBY's motives and the Grimm? Disturbingly thought provoking, but enjoyable. Also, Ruby, you're great, but you're not entirely a genius, you're just a little bit lucky.
In conclusion: there are a lot of characters to stan in RWBY. Dr. Oobleck is one of them.
Episode 10
We learn about WBY's motivations, now excuse me while I go crying in the club right now.
OH NO, RUBY GOT KIDNAPPED! AND SHE DOESN'T HAVE HER SCYTHE! FRICK, it's a mindset kind of deal! Without her scythe, she thinks she's useless! Oh, and Roman's there too, that's not good.
...that is REALLY not good, Oobleck! Get down there, all of you! Wait, is your thermos... your WEAPON!? HOW THE FU-
(Sidenote, I looked up the name, since most weapons have them and I'm impatient for them getting name dropped. "Antiquity's Roast," eh? Fitting...)
Episode 11
So... this episode.
Poor Ruby. She failed to fight back, she almost ran away but then it turns out Melodic Cudgel is also a GRAPPLING HOOK. Thank god Yang and company finally busted their way in.
...why are Roman and the White Fang going kamikaze with those train car bombs? Oh right, the Grimm. Crap, that ain't good.
Ah, Oobleck. You may have accidentally repeated Ruby's line, but a swig of your thermos/club/flamethrower and then using it to bat Zwei into a cannonball of death redeemed you!
So Neo's back. She's skilled, sassy, has something going on with her eyes... Oh boy, Yang's getting outclassed by a pipsqueak. That's gotta suck.
Does every faunus (baring Blake, Sun, etc.) hate the SDC? Seriously Weiss, what did your father DO!?
Roman, do not get flirty with Blake. Junior tried something similar with Yang way back in the Yellow Trailer, and he got socked in the face. You deserve that kick in the head.
Oh look, Yang's mom is here! Nice, now Neo can't kill her (don't you dare, you little ice cream, I swear...). Oh. OH. That's a big sword. Yeah, ya better run, Neo. You ain't winnin' this fight. Great, now I want to know what Yang's mom's deal is. Figures she just warped away afterwards...
And now the Grimm are above ground. Yeah, seems like a good time for the season finale.
Episode 12
Now THIS is my favorite episode.
Look at that, Jaune's getting good instincts! And it's nice that Team JNPR was able to help RWBY. Also nice that Jaune can actually kill a Grimm now. Good job, man. You earned Pyrrha's smile of approval.
As much as I'm wary of the antagonist trio, I'll admit, they can fight good. Especially Emerald, her guns are sick. Why am I warming up to her so fast? What is this magic!?
...CFVY. CFVY. WHY ARE Y'ALL SO BADASS? Seriously, Yatsuhashi's carying an entire sword and a half. Fox just pulled a Ren and caused a Grimm to explode. Coco... God, Coco- WHY DOES RUBY HAVE SO MANY QUEENS, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!?
"You just destroyed my favorite clothing store. Prepare to die."
I-FREAKING-CONIC!
And she just murders Grimm with a BRIEFCASE. That turns into a GATTLING GUN. BECAUSE OF COURSE IT'S ALSO A GUN. (BTW, Gianduja is a really cool name for it.)
And now I want to know Velvet's weapon! It doesn't look like much now, but apparently it took a semester to build. And we know that Velvet can fight based on what we saw with her and Fox, so how does she ADD to that!?
THAT TRACK IN THE BACKGROUND, TOO! "CAFFEINE~" HELL YEAH!!!
Ooh, Port and Oobleck teamup! Oh no... THE GLYNDA IS MAD PEOPLE. I REPEAT, THE GLYNDA IS MAD! SHE HAS NO PATIENCE FOR YOUR GRIMM BS!!!
Welp, Roman got handled, though I doubt it's for long... Yay, RWBY finally gets a break! Oh boy, trouble brewing between Ozpin and Ironwood, that ain't good.
...bull man's back. Uh, guys, Adam's back! And he's helping the bad guys! THIS IS REALLY NOT GOOD.
...oh, so your name is Raven? And that's what you look like under the mask. There's the resemblance... Oh boy, where have you been all of Yang's life?
...
So all in all, Volume 2 was even better than Volume 1, in my opinion. It's like they took the first volume and amped it up to 11. Longer runtimes, great comedy, great action sequences, great CHARACTERS. It's just a complete trip! 10/10, would ride again. Welp, it's getting late, so I can't immediately start Volume 3. But what Volume 2 gave us is good enough to tide me over.
...I am so glad I started this series. Well, this is goodbye for now. Cheers, internet!

Note
Timetravel au where the RWBY+JRN+Oscar end up back in time during the start of the series and they all have to lay low pretending to be their past selves so they won't get caught but they sometimes get confused which version of someone they're talking to like Blake would be trying to act like her season 1 self and Ruby's just like 'blake it's me' 'oh thank god' but it's really hard for them to see everything back when it was peaceful and JNR has a hard time seeing pyrrha alive 1/2
2/2 but eventually they decide they have to warn people about Cinder so they go to Ozpin and then there's the adults like Ironwood all making a big fuss about what they should do and if they should believe the kids meanwhile Oz is kinda eying Oscar because he knows Oscar is his next incarnation &this is the first time he's known who his next incarnation is going to be which means he can prepare like never before but Oscar's like 'no I know what you're doing you want to kidnap past me stop it'
RWBY Time travel anon here, 1. Please consider Oscar meeting Ozpin and finally having someone understand what it's like to be an incarnation of Ozma& having someone able to teach him and get rid of some misconceptions he has 2 Please also consider past Oscar waking up on his farm one day only to have all these really important huntresses and huntsmen trying to get him to join a hunter school, Ironwood& Crow are fighting over custody of Ozs next incarnation &past Oscar is like 'wtf is happening?'
This was all I thought about at work today please accept this offering of a scribble

MORE THOUGHTS:
I love the image of them all trying to be able to pass as the people they were just two years ago
Blake spacing out and Ruby coming over, like you said
Ruby: Hey Blake, whatcha doin?
Blake: U-UH-- BROODING!
Ruby: Blake it’s me, chill
Blake: ohthankgods
Oscar seeing Vale for the first time!
Oscar: Beacon is so cool whoever designed this place I wanna shake their hand
Nora, to Ren: Wouldn’t he just shake his own hand?
Ren elbows her
I’m thinking alt/disconnected timeline. A universe that’s almost identical to theirs (maybe the phone numbers are different, or Blake’s ears are a different color) but it’s not. So they don’t have to worry about paradoxing themselves out of existence and they can change things here
They def don’t know that for sure at first tho. can’t pass up all the Shenanigans for initially trying really hard to not break time
for example: JNR+O are going around Vale, looking for something, but turns out JNR don’t remember the area as well as they should.
Oscar: Why don’t we just ask somebody? That person looks nice!
Oscar goes to talk to them, JNR about jump out of their clothes to duck and hide
Oscar meets Pyrrha. She gives him directions based on her teammate Nora’s favorite ice cream place
Weiss has to hear herself talk, it’s amazing
Ruby has to hear herself talk, it’s amazing
Zwei
After future! RWBY JNR+O have their dramatic info-dump with past!Oz Crew, they start looking into how far Salem’s Fall of Beacon plot has gotten, and look into the “exchange students”
Pull up a picture of Cinder
Yang: That’s the bxxx.
Speaking of that dramatic info-dump, I’m already thinking about That Conversation with Ozpin and Oscar because same hat my dear anon I’d love for Oscar to have the chance to talk to someone else, openly, who gets it. Who knows everything he knows now, and can’t lock himself away, and who gets it.
I think (if this somehow happened just after volume 6 and present!Oz is still keeping his distance) Oz would at the very least speak up to Oscar in private, even if he doesn’t know what’s going on. I think he’d warn Oscar against talking to Ozpin, or letting on to Ozpin who Oscar is. It could lead to too many ideas or thoughts or emotions about things they have no actual power to change or control. That it would probably cause more problems than it solves (he’s not exactly wrong)
They do a pretty good job just writing Oscar off to the Oz Crew as just a kid they picked up in Mistral. They get through the conversation about timelines and where to go from here and what to do next without Oscar’s history or Oz’s backstory coming up. They’re pretty sure they can brush it off
but then everyone’s leaving Ozpin’s office and Ozpin says: Mr. Pine, If I could speak with you a moment?
Oscar’s nervous, and Oz wants him to leave, but Oscar’s pretty sure there’s no getting out of it. Then it’s just Oscar with Ozpin behind his desk.
Ozpin’s looking out the window with his mug, and he asks: How old are you, Oscar?
Oscar says: Almost fifteen.
Ozpin sighs. He has to set his mug down. He asks: How long?
Oscar: I’m... I’m sorry?
Ozpin: How long have I been with you?
(Ozpin figured it out. Not right away, but through little things and little realizations stacking up. “I stand like that” “He asks the questions I want to ask” “He keeps looking to the side like he’s listening to somethi-- oh snap”)
(Step four: cry)
When the secret’s out to the past!RWBYJNPR teams that the future!RWBYJNR teams are there (because of course it gets out) Jaune marches up to himself, points to Pyrrha across the room and is like
“DO YOU SEE HER? LOOK AT HER. NO, LOOK AT HER AGAIN.”
Then he smooshes his face in his hands and is like
“You sweet summer imbecile take her on a date before the sun sets or I will fill you bed with molasses”
From here it’s like re-imagining season 3 but with all these extra characters. Imagine the training fights oh man
I kinda love the image of Oscar just hanging out in Ozpin’s office a lot, like during class periods he would otherwise enroll in if he wasn’t even younger than Ruby was when she started at Beacon. A 15 year old prodigy from a family of huntsmen and huntresses who’s been to combat school and breaths huntressing? okay. a 14 year old who’s never been to combat school, picked up a weapon less than a year ago, as is escalating in skill faster than conceivably possible? that’s a raised eyebrow or twelve
still dying for an Ironwood reaction to Oscar (volume 7 please)
oh, backtrack: future!RWBYJRN+O don’t give themselves up as time travelers on purpose. They hold the cover pretty well until someone spots Yang with a robot arm and then it’s all out the window. past!Jaune probably sees her pull it off and shrieks dramatically
seeing Qrow in 100% Support Oz mode is probably a little unsettling for them now
oh man how do they break it to them?? do they??
this is all I’ve got so far but it’s only been like a day

The Power of Ambiguity: When Some of RWBY’s Questions Are Better Left Unanswered
So, full disclosure: Volume 6, Chapter 9 “Lost” is one I have mixed feelings about. I think it fails to deliver on some major story threads this volume has introduced, and thus it stands out as a disappointing installment in what has otherwise been a stellar volume (I go into more depth about that in my full review).
But, paradoxically, I also think it contains the best scene in the volume, potentially in the show as a whole. And that scene is the one with Jaune and the Red-Haired Woman.
Tumblr media
If upon her appearance you assumed that she was Pyrrha’s mother, you may have been left confused by her sudden disappearance and her credit as merely the “Red-Haired Woman.” I certainly was among that party, and there are still people who are unsure what to think: I’ve seen comments on the video from people who legitimately cannot figure out why the scene is framed so mysteriously.
Tumblr media
It took me a little bit of time to realize the implications that there was more to the woman than you’d think at first glance. First up was that an autumn leaf just like the one Pyrrha saw in Volume 3′s “Destiny” was the thing that led Jaune to her statue; how does a leaf like that just magically turn up in the middle of the winter? Then there was her sudden appearance, right when Jaune was tempted to just walk away. Then we have her not introducing herself to Jaune despite clearly recognizing he knew Pyrrha, and then inexplicably disappearing right when Nora and Ren showed up with no apparent time to have left the flowers and walked away liked that. All in all, there were a lot of things about the woman that just didn’t make sense if we accepted her as Pyrrha’s mother or some kind of relative, unless she didn’t have a reason to introduce herself to Jaune: unless, and this seems almost unbelievable, she was Pyrrha herself, paying Jaune a visit from beyond the grave (or, well, dust).
Tumblr media
Of course, you could also argue the opposite: if she’s Pyrrha’s mother then she absolutely already knows who Jaune is from watching the tournaments and presumably from Pyrrha’s communications, and she figures Jaune could probably put two-and-two together to figure out who she is. Additionally, we do hear her walking up to the statue, implying she didn’t necessarily just appear from thin air. Then you have the fact that she left the flowers on the statue, which is physical evidence that she had been there. But honestly it really could go either way. There’s nothing definitive going on here where you could say “She was Pyrrha’s mother” or “She was something supernatural.”
Tumblr media
The thing is, it looks like some viewers are having trouble accepting this ambiguity. When I explained to one of the commenters that it was framed mysteriously to imply the Red-Haired Woman may have been Pyrrha’s spirit, the person flipped out. They claimed that having a ghost appear on a show where paranormal occurrences aren’t part of the established mythology opens a whole can of worms that would just complicate everything. In their view, the way the scene was framed implied Miles and Kerry couldn’t decide on who the woman was, so they decided to be lazy and not make a firm decision either way. That the ambiguity was an unintentional result of the writers’ indecision.
Although I understand why this commenter thinks this, they’re wrong. According to Jen Brown (the voice of Pyrrha and this mysterious woman) on her Twitch stream there is, in fact, a definitive answer as to who the woman is but she cannot give the answer and doesn’t know when or even if the writers plan to reveal it. Hero Hei speculates based on Brown’s phrasing that at least in the script, the woman is not intended to be Pyrrha’s spirit and is probably a separate character, and I would concur it does appear that Jen Brown does not agree with the “She was a ghost” camp. In their minds as the series’ writers, Miles and Kerry made a specific choice as to who the woman is.
But the thing is, on some level you do have to divorce the thoughts of the writer from the work, especially in something like visual media where changes may come in the actual scripting and direction of a scene. This sort of follows the “Death of the Author” concept of separating the writer and their thoughts from what they put down in the actual text: think JK Rowling stating all these “canon” facts about the Potter series despite not following through in the actual text she published (more info on this and the term “Death of the Author” in general in this excellent Lindsay Ellis video). Miles and Kerry know exactly who this woman is, yet they chose to write this scene in a way where her identity is not clear as written. Likewise, in film and television directors will make specific choices in how a scene is framed: Kerry and Connor chose to frame this scene in a way where the viewer cannot tell just from watching who the woman is. The woman having an answerable identity is a specific choice, but so is choosing not to give the viewer that answer.
So, you may ask, why did they do this? Well, to put it simply...it’s complicated.
Tumblr media
It’s worth explaining that toying with the supernatural is actually quite common on television shows that don’t actively depict paranormal occurrences. It’s a trope called “Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane,” where an event is framed in a way that could lead the viewer to believe it is out of the ordinary or that it is a coincidence, and things are left just as that.
There was an episode of Bones called “The Hero in the Hold” where Booth escapes from a booby-trapped ship with the help of what he believes to be the ghost of an old army buddy who died on a mission years before: later in the season the incident is referenced when it turns out Booth has a brain tumor that is causing vivid hallucinations, and Booth’s belief that it was a ghost appears to become moot. Except in the case of this episode, this hallucination actually helps him out with escape methods that Booth could not have achieved by himself, like diffusing a bomb or retrieving a weapon that Booth cannot get to. Even Bones sees the deceased army buddy at the end of the episode without realizing who he is.
Bones has a couple of episodes where some happenings are implied to be paranormal, but the series remained to the end a procedural drama about forensic investigators––they didn’t become ghost hunters, they didn’t consult psychics on cases, absolutely none of that. And that’s the thing: writers don’t do this trope because they want to add a paranormal element. There are two things going on here:
1. It’s a narrative device designed to service the character more than it is a contribution to the series mythology
Basically, “It doesn’t matter whether or not it was magic or mundane.” With the Bones episode “The Hero in the Hold,” the fact that a ghost is haunting Booth is a framing device more than it is a plot device. Booth is kidnapped by a serial killer the team has been chasing for some time, and is left without their help. The episode is mostly about the team trying to outsmart the killer and Booth relying on his wits and resourcefulness to escape, while also dealing with the survivor’s guilt from watching his friend die years before. The ghost is there to give Booth the courage to continue, and to help him confront his past. Booth’s character development from this episode would have happened regardless of whether it was a ghost or a hallucination that spoke to him, because what happened felt real enough to him.
2. It gives the viewer something fun to think about
Think theory fodder. The writers are specifically leaving the decision in your hands––you have been granted power over a question they’ve left unanswered. How much fanfiction have you read or written about an unanswered question a show or movie or book or webcomic didn’t specifically tell you, like what happens after the story ends or where this character was when they weren’t the focus of the story? The ambiguity is trusting you to come up with your own answer. Your opinion is now an integral part of the story. Even The Twilight Zone, a show where paranormal occurrences were basically a regular thing, had one episode called “The Grave” with an ambiguously framed death which Rod Serling flat out asks the viewer to decide for themselves whether it was a normal death or caused by a vengeful ghost.
Let’s take a look at the scene of Jaune and the Red-Haired Woman again. What exactly did Jaune need in this moment?
Tumblr media
Jaune never got any closure from Pyrrha’s death. She prevented him from helping her by forcing him to leave, and he ultimately did not witness it. He was told during Volume 4 that a choice was made for her that ultimately led her to confront Cinder. He was so torn about how she went down that he personally attempted to avenge her murder at Haven in Volume 5. Literally last episode he was told to his face that her death and everything that had led her to make the decision to fight Cinder had completely been for nothing. Seeing her statue in the park at a low moment, he is only reminded that she is not standing with the rest of her team, that she was killed in the line of battle for a hopeless cause. It’s an idea that viewers themselves have realized all volume, having learned Salem can’t be killed months ago from our perspective.
Yet the Red-Haired Woman suggests, without even needing to know everything about Jinn and Ozma, that this wasn’t really the case. “She understood that she had a responsibility to try. I don’t think she would regret her choice, because a huntress would understand that there really wasn’t a choice to make. And a huntress is what she always wanted to be.” Hearing this, Jaune adds to it: “Pyrrha never got the chance to graduate...but she was a huntress.” The woman, having needed to hear that, tearfully thanks Jaune for the words.
Now consider it: heedless of any debate of who the Red-Haired Woman is, through their conversation Jaune comes to accept that Pyrrha’s death doesn’t have to be thought of as in vain: she died as someone she had always wanted to be, a huntress who without question would fight to protect everyone, no matter the costs. When Ren and Nora arrive he shares with them this realization, and they all accept that Pyrrha’s choices were her sticking to her true self, and that they should continue their journey as she would by sticking to their devotion to be hunters and huntresses.
Tumblr media
But now we’re back to square one. Was this woman really Pyrrha’s mother or Pyrrha’s spirit? Well, I’ll answer that question with a question: What interpretation makes this scene more powerful to you? That Pyrrha’s mother helped give Jaune closure and Jaune reassured her that her daughter was a hero? Or that Pyrrha’s spirit helped give Jaune closure and Jaune told her she died a hero? Which interpretation is the more interesting one to you?
Which brings us to a third variation of “Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane”
3. It’s both a narrative device and something fun to think about
Not only are you being provided a framework for a character’s development, you are also being given a choice to decide how you think the scene works. Whatever decision you make as to whether something is paranormal or not, it is your interpretation that maximizes the scene’s impact on you. The writer’s aren’t the ones who decide the answer, you are. And somehow, that kind of makes you part of the story.
This is why I consider this the best scene in all of Volume 6. Its main power is giving Jaune and the viewer some definitive closure over Pyrrha’s death, answers questions and conflicts over something that people have pondered about since the finale of Volume 3. And yet there’s an even bigger question posed over who the woman is. A question that the show has not answered and will not answer for sure. A question the writers have made the conscious decision to leave out of their hands.
The only person who can answer the question is you. Whatever answer satisfies you the most, that is your truth. And whatever your truth is, well, then let it be canon.

WELCOME TO THE ANGST ZONE-RWBY Volume 6x02 “Uncovered” Micksterecap(Rwby volume 6 spoilers)
Tumblr media
HEY EVERBAH-happy Saturday-WELCOME BACK TO MICKSTERECAP! I’m sure this episode will start out with  something completely norma-
Tumblr media
HOLY SHIT-Cinder’s corpse!  OOOOOOOOOOOOR  IS  IT?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1:49 HUZZAH-she’s alive-OR IS SHE?!  I ask because I’m  live-blogging here, FRESH reactions today!
But seriously, TURNS OUT-this isn’t a dream sequence and she IS still alive...for NOOOOOOW! Cinder than punches her way out of the cave using what LITTLE strength she had left after her Avatar battle with Raven “Mother of the Year” Branwen, and upon escaping-SHE MEETS-
Tumblr media
2:57 SOME RANDOM LADY WITH  FOOD! Man THAT was convenient eh Cinder? Will she beg for food, or just murder her and take the basket-LET’S FIND  OU-
3:11  We need to take the relic to Atlas?
GAH-I forgot this show had multiple plotlines-CURSE YOU SHOW I LOVE!
Tumblr media
AW  NEAT-a  pointless flashback, taking place in that house that they...rented? Or did Qrow or the school own it? They never explained WHOSE house that was and it will always always ALWAYS bug me despite it never mattering in terms of plot.
BUT-said flashback ALSO features Weiss’ initial response  to going  back to Atlas!
Tumblr media
3:20
“You’ve GOT to be joking”.
I feel for  ya Weiss, escape your shit  dad in Atlas, pay a plane to leave, get attacked by  bees, get kidnapped by one of your possible love-interest’s moms, go to a school, fight bad guys, get IMPALED, get healed by ANOTHER of your possible love-interest( I said POSSIBLE, don’t hate me) ONLY to learn your going  back to the place you escaped! MAN-how she don’t have whiplash from that I don’t know HOW she wouldn’t!
They also  bring up a nice secondary reason for bringing the  relic to Atlas that I admittedly didn’t think  of-
Tumblr media
3:33
Qrow: Without the Spring  Maiden here to  seal the relic back in its vault,  its our best option.
Yang:  And I just want to say its NO-ONE’S FAULT for not having Raven  seal the  vault back up after verbally decimating her for years of neglect.
Ruby: Yang its cool, you needed a cry.
Tumblr media
3:50 We ALSO LEARN why their going to Argus in the first place, its the last Atlas  military installation that still has soldiers...and considering Adam  MOST PROBABLY hijacked the train to Argus they  BEST get  to steppin’ after this flashback is  done!
Through that they figure through  either asking nicely, or telling them they found  one of three of Jacques Schnee’s abuse victims that they could get to Atlas. After they set up the low-down, Jaune asks Oz-
Tumblr media
4:38
Jaune: Speaking of, what does it(the  relic) do, exactly?
Oz: HAHA-definitely doesn’t attract monsters-DEFINITELY not!
But seriously, turns out it can answer ANY three questions(GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENIE) once every 100 years about the present or past. NORA of course geeks out about it-
Tumblr media
5:29
Nora: CAN WE ASK FOR MORE QUESTIONS?! CAN WE ASK WHY ME AND REN HAVEN’T KISSED ON SCREEN YET?!
Ruby: Yeah what’s up with that, y’all are CLEARLY a couple!
Ren: I’m as confused as you are.
SADLY THOUGH-the magical knowledge genie can’t answer ANY of our deepest ship questions as  it turns out they were all used up before it was sealed-OR WERE THEY?! Seriously I’m legit wondering, for all we know Oz is lying.
5:40 Ruby: Well, we’ll be sure to keep it safe.
Tumblr media
Yang: GIMME THAT STUPID LAMP-I’ma SMASH IT!
Ruby: Isn’t that more Nora’s thing?
Yang: I DON’T CARE I’M JUST PISSED AT OUR STUPID PRINCIPAL IN A FARMBOY’S BODY!
But seriously everyone is LOGICALLY pissed off about the current  run of events, half their party is gone, Yang’s gonna push her motorcycle she should’ve left at home through  snow-
Tumblr media
6:11 -and they  now have ANOTHER mysterious mystic old person who REEKS  of  mysterious mysticism...AAAAAAAAAAND THE PROOOOOOOOOOOOOM IS TOMOOOOOOOOOOOORROW! Remember that joke? Practically dissapeared.
LOGICALLY pissed off at Ozpin for LYING about how the ancient relic of ultimate destiny attracted murderous chimera after them, and I’m sure he won’t pull some bull-shit line like-
Tumblr media
6:47
Ozpin: I did not lie  to you.
PFFT-look at Maria’s face here, her bullshit detectory is on POINT! Because not  informing them of the dangerous GRIMM MAGNET wasn’t a half-truth. Can we get a wizard who DOESN’T give the main heroes the run-around with their bullshit for a change, CAN WE PLEASE?!
Oz than  explains that the reason he  held  the truth  is because  he wanted to save them from anxiety and negativity, AS WELL as that being the reason for why he had it so Lionheart wasn’t revealed to be a traitor after his death, in what KINDA sounds like  a villain speech, even going  as  far  as saying “The people of Remnant  deserve more than the truth”, (because THAT line is never condescending) as WELL as saying he’s been betrayed so many times he’s straight up used to it.
Oz than  puts it all to a head when he asks where the relic is and TURNS OUT-
Tumblr media
8:32 RUBY HAS IT! Way to stay on task girl, especially in quite possibly the most STRESSFUL year of your LIFE! Remember the silly school dance? I miss that.
Ruby than LOGICALLY calls him out for saying he had so much faith in humanity in these years when the opposite is true. Its also a good thing that he didn’t lie about the relic not being able to ask questi-
Tumblr media
9:10
Oscar:HURRY...he’s trying...to stop you...he’s afraid you’ll find out...what  he’s hiding!
...well that’s ominous but as long as it turns out the relic still can’t work I say its o-
Tumblr media
9:31
Oscar: Her name...is Djinn...say her name to summon her.
...well that’s good to know but AS OZPIN SAID-the relic TOTALLY doesn’t work so saying it won’t do ANYTHI-
Tumblr media
Ruby:...Djinn?
Tumblr media
9:45 ...OKAY-time just happened to freeze, I’M SURE NOTHING ELSE OZPIN MURDERINGLY MAGICAL HAPPE-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
10:33 Djinn: Wonderful!
...OKAY-so there was a genie in it that every single person on planet Earth saw coming, but SURELY it still can’t answer 3 questi-
Tumblr media
10:40 Tell me, what knowledge do you seek?
SON OF A BITCH OZPIN-not ONLY did you lie about the lamp housing a genie whose PRIME waifu material, but ALSO lied about the questions being used up! Because just saying “Don’t use the relic to ask questions” would be SO hard you dis-trustworthy ass old man!
Well surely the next thing to happen is Team RWBYOMQ asking how to best murder Ozpi-
Tumblr media
10:47 ...or cut to a random dirty ass alley, because the writers like to TORTURE us!
Tumblr media
10:55 DAMN-Cinder, you even stole the bitch’s CLOTHES! What are you, the Terminator?!
Cinder walks through the rainy ass street of scum and villainy-UNTIL SHE SEES-
Tumblr media
11:37 RANDOM SPIDER-MAN GRAFFITI! Didn’t know Remnant had such a Marvel fan-base, NEAT!
But seriously, it turns out to be the INSIGNIA OF-
Tumblr media
PURPLE CLAD GANGSTERS! I gotta  assume they are like, REALLY good criminals becasue DEAR GOD do her two guards look silly, LOOK AT THEIR SCARFS!
Cinder than bribes her  for information-
Cinder: You’re little Miss Malachite?
Tumblr media
Malachite: Is that a fat joke or color joke? Because I’ve TRIED changing my name to Violet, but UGH the system.
She then tells Spiderlady that she’s looking for team RWBYJNR by SHOWING HER-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
12:35 SEASON THREE SCREEN SHOTS! ALSO-yes those are all from the Vytal festival, for some reason I thought the JNPR pics were from the placement exam. And now we wait for the Pyrrha fans to be mad she was cropped out!
AFTER Little Miss Malachite(Her name should STILL be Violet dammit, or maybe Amethyst) gives a spooky spider speech, she tells Cinder she’ll find the team in a few days-BUT IT TURNS OUT-
Tumblr media
13:34
Chaps: Little Miss, we all ready know where they are.
Little Miss:  Oh really, we do? Why don’t you say it louder SO THE MYSTERIOUS MURDER LADY WE DON’T KNOW CAN HEAR YOU?!
Cinder: What was that?
Little Miss: Nothin’ sweetie, just makin’ creepy spider metaphors!
A THEN CUT BACK TO-
Tumblr media
13:55 MARIA-adjusting her broken ass cyborg eyes to double-check if she’s not looking at a floating Navii from Avatar.
And WOULDN’T YA KNOW IT-turns out Djinn can still answer TWO more questions this era! ALSO-
Tumblr media
14:25
Djinn: A-heh, its a pleasure to see you again old man.
AND-she’s met Oz before, PROBABLY since he asked the first question.
Ozpin pleads Ruby not to ask Djinn a question, which prompts Qrow  to ask-
Tumblr media
Qrow: Hey-
Weiss: WANNA DIE OLD MAN?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Qrow: GAH-I was just gonna tell Ruby to do what she felt was right!
Yang: Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse us if we can’t trust OLD PEOPLE RIGHT NOW!
Ruby than asks Djinn what is Ozpin hiding from them WHICH CAUSES OZPIN-
Tumblr media
14:56 ...to...attempt to  tag her...slap her...push her-WHAT WERE YOU ATTEMPTING TO DO TO MY DAUGHTER YOU WEIRD OLD MAN?!
BUT-before Ozpin  can  commit attempted assault and/or attempted game of tag-TEAM RWBYQOM-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A FREAKY ASS VOID-that turns INTO-
Tumblr media
“Once upon a time, there stood a lonely tower”-
ALSO-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blake turns into Qrow because...genies? BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THAT-
“-that sheltered a lonely girl...named-
Tumblr media
“-Salem”.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH SHIT-Salem used to look NORMAL ONCE! BACKSTORY MOTHER FUCKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERS!
AND THAT’S SEASON SIX EP TWO-following the classic RWBY formula of exposition episode after action episode and I gotta say we learned...A LOT! FOR ONE-Ozpin pulls a full Rose Quartz in revealing he’s not the ethical leader we all thought he was, AS WELL as showing he has a secret connection TO Salem, implying...A BILLION possible things  that I won’t put here because this is a recap blog and not a theory blog perse. HOO BOY-what a cliffhanger, NEXT WEEK-backstory time baby! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK on MICKSTERECAP!

Day 28 of 30 Days of RWBY: Favorite Rwby Chibi Skit
Me: I loved Love Daddy from Season 3 episode 2. I actually just love that they have Taiyang in the series.
My Brother: I like Road Trip from Season 3 episode 1. Especially the Cinder part where she is trying to kidnap Jaune and Ren.

RWBY 5.4-5.5
I did watch last week but didn’t recap; this is my redo and catch-up.
- When the Yang v. Bandits fight started, I paused the video and turned the controls to HD. Worth it.
- Slimy Bandit Guy’s reaction to Yang’s identity was everything I had hoped for.
- Oscar... is trying. Poor Oscar. But I love Ruby’s “Jaune’s like you; he’s still figuring out what his Semblance is!” cover right then. It’s true - they’re all still journeying.
- Speaking of which - did Nora’s Semblance unlock before or after she met Ren? Also, what did they do between ages 6 and 17-or-so? Is there an “Adventures of Smol Ren and Nora” spin-off potential here?
- The scene in the bandit camp at the end was stunning in so many ways - visually, cinematically, character-wise, all of it.
- Raven remains grand and aggravating. What a pitch-perfect conversation - she and Yang are doing a pretty good imitation of the unstoppable force and the immovable object - until circumstances and alliances outplay her. I really look forward to her continued interaction with the story.
- I am deeply curious as to what she meant about Ozpin and Qrow and all that.
I have a theory that Team STRQ was the previous generation’s Team RWBY: the “dream team” all destined for something, and Ozpin perhaps manipulated them a little more directly towards fighting Salem - and somehow it went horribly wrong. That would explain a lot - how Qrow’s in Ozpin’s inner circle, Raven’s gone rogue and anti-establishment and anti-Ozpin especially, Tai encourages his daughters but doesn’t go near Beacon himself, and Summer...? Well, we don’t know anything about Summer. One hopes to learn.
- The Yang-Weiss reunion was even better than anything I could have hoped for. “All right, well, subtlety is out.”
- Yang’s ice-knight.
- “Your mom kidnapped me!”
“You kidnapped her?”
- The Weiss sneak-attack hug at the end, sudden and gorgeous, just drop the sword and run for Yang with the “Home” theme playing in the background. Words fail me. It’s going to be so fun seeing them all together again.
- Blake and Sun trying to get petition signatures is a sad variation on the same theme as Weiss’s attempt to get the pilot to rescue the distressed airship: some people are going to be heroic and some just aren’t. The virtue of RWBY, I think, lies partly in the fact that while it doesn’t pretend that people are perfect, it still shows people being truly good. Self-preservation and insularity is perfectly comprehensible in RWBY’s worldview; Qrow winging out of the sky to stand between Tyrian and Ruby is equally comprehensible. Both are true. Both are possible. Realism isn’t separate from idealism - but you still can’t always convince people to stand up for what’s right on any given subject and day.
- The conversation between Blake and Sun on the docks gives me very odd feelings of doom. I’m not sure where they’re directed. It just feels like the kind of conversation that will happen right before everything goes pear-shaped.
- “That I’m scared. I’m more scared than I’ve ever been before in my life.Than I ever thought was possible.” Oh, Oscar.
- For Pyrrha: “She died fighting a battle she knew she couldn’t win.”
- Ruby’s whole monologue there - wow.
I remember snarking about the lyrics for “When It Falls.” Now I hear it playing very slow and quiet and wordless behind Ruby’s manifesto for courage and I think I’m right, I’m right, I’m right. There is sorrow but not despair here.
- The end scene with the White Fang members and Ilya - okay, here come the caps - YIKES. Calm dubious questions. Ilya’s expressions. “He seems... unwell.”
- Adam: “I have a promise to keep.”
Me: HOW DO I LOATHE THEE, “HIGH LEADER TAURUS,” THOU UTTER CREEP...! MAY YOUR FOOT SLIP IN DUE TIME AND YOUR DISASTER RUSH UPON YOU. Possibly in the form of a righteously-angry Yang.
- So... prediction time.
I think Blake’s teaser trailer is going to take place in the next episode on Menagerie, and it will turn out to be Ilya’s decoy plan to draw Blake away from her family and/or trap her. A few options for their eventual confrontation: 1) Blake manages to talk Ilya down, and Ilya admits to her the White Fang’s plan. She runs home, too late to save one or both of her parents. 2) Blake tries to talk Ilya down, ends up having to fight and possibly kill her instead. Injured or at least distraught, she runs home, etc. 3) Blake leaves Sun to distract Ilya in the end - possibly at Sun’s insistance - while she runs home. To the former disaster add the latter possibility of something happening to Sun. Alternatively, parents are fine because of Blake’s timely warning, but Sun dies.
(BE NOT DECEIVED BY MY OUTER VENEER OF CALM.)
This is not going to be pretty whatever happens. The show is looking to spin a bit darker this season from all signs: maybe this arc is going to turn out okay but I hold out no particular hope. I have been worried for Blake’s family for a while now. Collateral damage is the one thing that hurts her the most, and Adam knows this perfectly well.
I’m so sorry to have to say this, but I really don’t care that much about Sun still. I don’t want anything to happen to him, but I’m simply not as attached to him as I am to most of the characters. On the other hand, he’s definitely getting on my nerves a lot less than he used to. So I wish him well. He may need it.
They all kind of need it, to be honest.
And, on what is hopefully a lighter note, I am really impatient to hear Raven spill the secrets of Team STRQ.

Ruby could get kidnapped in V8 but with everything going on V9 will need to be something less stressful. Still I would be down for Oscar and Ruby reuniting and THEN talking about the trauma together. V8 though I do want self-reflection since Oscar is basically back in V4 status(all alone with Ozpin). Along with Ruby wondering what more she has to sacrifice whether it be Oscar or her life like her mom.
On the contrary Ghost; with the way things are going now with the events of the Atlas Trilogy, I feel like the showrunners are just going to keep upping the stakes. So perhaps Ruby being kidnapped for the next volume wouldn't be too bad of an occurrence.
I mean I've been an advocate for Ruby becoming a prisoner of Salem along with Oscar since V5. Salem has been interested in capturing Ruby since V4 and it wouldn't surprise me if she'll have her eyes set on capturing Oscar too; especially since she knows that Oz has been reincarnated.
As I was telling @crystalandbrass, what if…in V8, as a reverse parallel to V4, Tyrian Callows is once again sent to retrieve Ruby. In my interpretation of this hunch, I imagined Tyrian leading his own faction of Winged Beringels to ambush and overpower an unsuspecting Ruby who just happened to be out alone in Mantle with only Qrow as her company.
In the Wizard of Oz story, it was said that the Scarecrow was almost destroyed by the flying monkeys when they came to capture Dorothy Gale. So what if…we got a RWBY equivalent to that moment in which Qrow is overpowered by Winged Beringels and forced to look on helplessly as Tyrian relinquishes an unconscious Ruby Rose over to a Winged Beringel which takes her away to Salem.
Meanwhile, Tyrian stays behind to finish off Qrow only for the Branwen man to be saved in the nick of time by Jaune, Nora and Ren arriving to aid him; much like how he had come to their aid back in Anima in V4.
I quite like the concept of Ruby becoming Salem’s prisoner by the conclusion of V8. Perhaps this could lead into what some of Rosegardening Pineheads and Rosegardeners have been itching to see---a scene in which Oscar comes to Ruby’s rescue to parallel all the times she has protected and looked out for him over the past few seasons. I think it could be a neat moment for Oscar if he ended up challenging Salem to save Ruby.
Perhaps…we could even see my ole Oscar the Golden Cap Pinehead headcanon coming to fruition too with Oscar becoming so great and powerful in his magical abilities that he’s able to use his power to take control of Salem’s Winged Beringels (see my Oscar’s Luxx Pinehead headcanon right here)
In the Wizard of Oz story, the Wicked Witch was only able to control the flying monkeys through the power of the Golden Cap---a cursed magical artifact that allowed its wielder to control the flying monkeys at least three times.
Although Salem is the creator of the Winged Beringels on the RWBY universe, she did so via the power of the Grimm Pools and her own magic.
Therefore, this squiggle meister thinks it would be a really neatorrific magic trick to see Oscar use the power he inherited from Ozma that he has come to make his own during his time with Ozpin to take control of the Winged Beringels; making him the RWBY version of the Golden Cap.
Gold is in his name after all and much like the Golden Cap from Oz, Oscar is a vessel of magic. Just saying.
I mean, I doubt we’d actually see anything like that for V8 but it would’ve been something cool. As a Rosegardening Pinehead, I really love the thought of Oscar immediately daring to challenge Salem on his own upon learning that she has Ruby.
I can definitely see this being a possibility, particularly in the event that part of Oscar’s story and development for V8 would be the young huntsman coming to terms with the importance of Ruby to him; mimicking how his fairy tale counterpart---the little prince---came to revere his beloved true rose.
Perhaps it’s even a case where Salem uses Ruby to lure out Oscar. Imagine if… Salem ends up capturing Oscar by forcing him to surrender himself over to her as a means of protecting Ruby.
Or…as an alternative to that, imagine if…Oscar sacrifices himself for Ruby’s sake. Like it’s a case in which Oscar gives Salem an ultimatum in which he trades his life and freedom to become Salem’s willing prisoner in exchange for Ruby’s salvation. Basically picture a moment in which Oscar boldly proposes for Salem to imprison him and do whatever she desires to him--- torture him for the rest of his days, even kill him---in that moment, the little prince was willing to lay his life at the mercy of the wicked witch so long as no harm came to his rose as part of their deal or exchange.
Equivalent exchange, am I right?
Kind of like how Azlan surrendered himself to be “killed” by the Ice Queen in place of Edmund Pevensie in the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,
Bruh, imagine if…we got a scenario where Ruby is left unconscious for most of the finale after being poisoned by Tyrian and by the time the Silver Eyed Rose regains consciousness, she awakens to her allies begrudgingly informing her of Oscar’s sacrifice for her. Imagine a scenario in which for the majority of V8, Ruby and Oscar never truly reunite. Even though we spent more of the story with Oscar fighting to get back to his friends and Ruby; in the end it’s a case where they still don’t get to see each other or rather; Ruby never gets to see Oscar again since he gave himself to Salem for her sake. Thus, Ruby has to live with Oscar making that sacrifice for her and her mistakes this time.
Y’know what I realized---much like Ozpin (and by extension Ozma and all the Wizards in his cycle), Oscar has become the proverbial martyr to constantly pay the price for others actions even when he attempts to rectify them.
Between V5-V7, Oscar was mainly chastised because of Ozpin’s actions and past mistakes. He became an immediate foe to Hazel Rainart who he was forced to combat due to his beef with Ozpin concerning his sister. He was punched by Qrow (technically while Oz was in control but Oscar still felt the aftermath of that) out of the bird man’s anger and frustration towards Oz for the lies he told him and others. And just last season, Oscar literally got shot and sent to his presumed death by Ironwood for trying to correct mistakes made by both his predecessor and his allies.
And what’s worse about that is that Oscar had no say in any of that. He more or less just has to accept punishment for the actions of others whether he liked it or not.
So imagine if…for another time---presumably the last time--- Oscar makes himself a martyr; paying the price for Ruby---only this time, it’s his choice to give himself up for the girl he loves.
Doesn’t that sound like an interesting plot point to see? Perhaps this could be another way for Ruby to see the weight of her own actions and mistakes in a way.
In the Lost Princess of Oz story, I recall Princess Ozma being captured with her best friend (and closest confidant) Dorothy Gale being the one to lead a rescue party to save her. This is why I’ve been more inclined towards Oscar becoming Salem’s prisoner with Ruby the one to ultimately save him as his closest companion and potential love interest. I still like this possibility very much.
Then again, this could also easily go the the opposite direction in which both Ruby and Oscar become unwilling prisoners of Salem. While in captivity, Salem makes sure to keep both smaller, more honest souls apart in order to play off of their bond and devotion to one another and sort of maliciously manipulate and torment them into submitting to her will. That’s another possibility that I like.
The way how I see it, V9 could potentially be a standalone Dark Domain season where either Oscar is captured by Salem after sacrificing himself for Ruby leading to her leading their allies into the Land of Darkness in order to rescue the imprisoned little prince or….it could be about Ruby and Oscar dealing with being prisoners of Salem.
For me, my money will always more be on Oscar becoming Salem’s prisoner especially if he does it in Ruby’s place because I still love my headcanon of Oscar becoming the Boy in the Lonely Tower with Salem imprisoning him in a castle of solitude like how she was first locked away before Ozma found her. I still love that theory.
But who knows. Neither of this ideas could become a thing, as far as I know. Even if the CRWBY Writers mentioned something along the lines of reading fan’s comments for certain things to happen for certain characters, I highly doubt any of em would lend to any of this squiggly Pinehead’s million and one headcanons. As always, these are only my theories, thoughts and ideas for things for RWBY.
Either way, I will say that I do think that something big could potentially go down for both Ruby and Oscar respectively next volume.
I do think we could get that self-reflection on Oscar’s part like you want Ghost---I’m just unsure how it will work given the whole 1-2 days’ timeline. Given the fact that Oz has been gone for probably a month or some weeks since the heroes got to Atlas, it would’ve been better to see more time pass in the story in order to make Oscar and Oz’s bond growing within that time more believable, y’know what I mean? At least for me. This is just my opinion here.
I mean I guess I can look at it from the perspective for their bond being forced to grow faster due to the emergency of Salem’s arrival OR….perhaps V8 could only be the start of Oscar and Oz finally learning to coexist with one another and in the event that Oscar does indeed become Salem’s prisoner---if he’s captured, that will prove the PLOT more time to have Oscar bond with Oz since for a second time, the young boy will be all alone with only Oz as his companion. That could be something.
But who knows, y;know? I guess we’ll only know once more news of the next season drops, I suppose. In the meantime, I hope I was able to answer you, Ghost. Let me know if I did, please.
