asked by a good friend of mine irl. she didn’t mention gender so i’m going with afab since i haven’t written for that yet ♡

(ps i’m not going to mention what type of person he would like unless you req that i want to keep this as neutral as possible)

aizawa having a crush on you means finding cats to take care of together

it means warm, comfortable, solidarity silence

he would still be himself around you for sure, he would want you to like him for who he is

changing himself is too much effort. if you don’t like him back he’ll have to move on whether it hurts or not

people still need teaching and saving after all and the world isn’t going to stop just for him

being a realist he’s aware of that

but that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to clean up if you go out somewhere together (prior to dating, first impressions are everything)

he wouldn’t be afraid to tell you like it is if you ask for his opinion,

in his eyes sugarcoating things aren’t going to help you

but he wouldn’t necessarily be as harsh on you as he is on his students or mic

to woo you he wouldn’t really do anything above and beyond

he acknowledges that he likes you but he doesn’t want to waste time if his crush on you doesn’t blossom into something bigger

so instead of going all out he relies on things like little compliments, little favors and quality time

”not too shabby, i guess” *combs hand through hair* (yeah that’s another thing, he’ll do little gestures to sway you but we’ll dabble into that more later)

him: “hmm..well, i’ll keep an eye out for when it’s back in stock” *the very next day* “oh yeah turns out i already had one i just forgot, here you can have it”

im not lying he actually did have one and forgot

as far as quality time:

inviting each other over for movie nights (he always falls alseep so you get most of the popcorn- 🎉 unless it’s his favorite movie- then he stays up eyes red and all, while sucking nothing out of an empty juicy box)

although movie night only happens when your closer friends though- he keeps his friend circle small because anyone could betray him and he doesn’t like people (he doesn’t hate them either he just stays to himself)

quality time for him can also be texting and checking up on each other

it doesn’t always have to be physical for him to feel appreciated

if YOU want to sway HIM though

get him a cat

but you can also listen to him when he talks, shoulder massages (only when your real close tho), give it to him straight.. definitely don’t be phony…and yeah!

he accepts your flaws and who you are but he will talk to you about bettering yourself a few times if they’re really bad and habitual (which he’s perfect if you have low self esteem because he’ll help you realize you might be overthinking and underestimating yourself, bringing you back to reality like the realist he is)

he’s not necessarily judgmental though

i feel like the part of him that’s not afraid to tell it like it is, is being misunderstood as him being judgmental

rest your head on his shoulder as he does stuff/work (usually in private like when he’s planning his lessons on weekends)

speaking of that you can now come over unannounced and he’ll be glad to see you, ask you about your day, etc

back on topic to gestures he does,

his favors can get more personal,

like if you need to run errands but aren’t feeling well he’ll go shopping for you

(although i will say he doesn’t like shopping and has no idea what brands of products you normally buy he’ll do it to help you out)

he’ll also feel comfortable putting his arm on your shoulder (not around, on)

the gestures aren’t a lot because he isn’t the most cuddly guy (in my realistic headcanons)

but they mean something to you

AN: i tried to write canon aizawa more than fanon because it’s better that way to me but if anyone wants a little more cuddly/fanon aizawa i’d be happy to give it to them

i’m really happy with the way this turned out so i hope everyone can enjoy as well

Hypocrisy

It's always frustrating when characters get mad at Izuku hurting himself with One for All but never get mad at Bakugou for hurting Izuku. And the characters that get mad at Izuku for hurting himself don't even offer any help! No, Aizawa, telling a kid to stop having quirk side effects does not help them learn to avoid them.

All Might may be bad at teaching, but at least he doesn't get mad at Izuku for not being able to control One for All perfectly like he could.

The teachers don't care if Bakugou punches Izuku in the face for no good reason, insults him constantly, drags him outside to beat him up, stabs him with pieces of his costume... but the minute Izuku gets hurt while using One for All they act like he failed in some way. It isn't necessarily wrong to say that he failed to keep himself whole, but you don't get to be upset at someone else for being in pain when you knew and did nothing to help prevent it.

What a horrible day to have eyes. I go into the anti Aizawa tag and I'm greeted with this.

You know, I don't even completely disagree about Eri. I love her, but Horikoshi didn't write her well. No one's doubting that. But if we're talking about her trauma not being handled well, she's far from the only case. Not to mention her quirk was the reason as to why she was abused, so the point about her power is irrelevant in my opinion.

(Also, the complaint about her being a "perfect" abuse victim is weird... She's a child. Children usually are perfect victims because they're either completely powerless or their innocence is being manipulated and taken advantage of or both. It's also funny how OP doesn't complain about Izuku too because at least Eri has some form of agency. At least she's allowed to look at Overhaul as her abuser. Izuku is reduced to supporting and validating his abuser's feelings. Why is trauma handled incorrectly in MHA until the minute it comes to Izuku's lack of negative feelings towards Bakugou)

But even considering all of that, blaming her for Aizawa's shortcomings as a character is wrong.

I genuinely don't know where this came from. They don't even have that many scenes together and we've almost never seen him being a "cutesy" dad to her. We hardly ever see him even act paternally towards her, he's mostly seen escorting her and being by her side. If anything, that sounds way more like fanon Dadzawa. And considering a lot of the manga was changed to meet the fans' expectations of certain characters (specifically for Aizawa and Bakugou), if he has been changed into a "cutesy dad," then that's the fandom's fault for perpetuating that trope, NOT Eri's.

But more importantly, complex? Interesting? AIZAWA?

OP is acting like Aizawa's role in the story isn't being whatever Horikoshi needs him to be at the time. Hell, most of his overall dialogue is commentary for telling the audience how they're supposed to feel. Part of the reason Bakugou's behavior is never condemned is because Aizawa is always conveniently placed to shut down any criticism about it and defend him.

You'll also notice that despite challenging "everything Deku's heroism is about in a nuanced way," Aizawa never actually tries to teach Izuku differently. He condemns and scolds him for it but never actually explains what's wrong with his concept of heroism and tries to teach him differently. So what exactly is he challenging? Because Izuku still holds onto his ideas of heroism and Aizawa never tried to correct it even prior to Eri.

So instead of blaming a six-year-old who wasn't even given that many scenes in the story, maybe take a look at your favorite's failings as a character.

Canon (but really Fanon) Dadzawa Stans: it's so sweet how Aizawa really cares about Izuku! Sure, he's always threatening to expel him and refuses to actually help him with OFA, but he's always protecting him! Sure, he calls Izuku Problem Child over a rescue operation that wasn't even Izuku's idea in the first place and for having the nerve to try and defend himself against his bully, but it's such a cute nickname! Isn't it great how he's clearly the best father figure for Izuku to have, even though he has something against him and only realizes the error of his ways towards the end of the story while never apologizing to him?

Canon All Might who calls Izuku "Young Midoriya", "my Prince of Nonsense", "my boy", and "Squirt/Kid (depending on the translation), carried him home and scolded him for pushing himself too hard during the Takoba Beach clean up, only wants him to try his best and praises him for helping those around him, and tagged along during the Dark Izuku arc so he could make sure Izuku was getting enough food and rest:

You know what annoys me most about the entire Yagi and Inko bashing? Canonically EVERY adult has failed Izuku, every single one of them, (even Aizawa, especially Aizawa). i just found a reblog of mine ranting about how much i hate how ohba handled the task force, and the time skip, because there was genuinely so much potential not exploited there. and i still stand by that! it wasn't even in character for mogi, ide and aizawa to be so trusting and devoted to light, for fuck's sake. matsuda, i understand, seeing as he's implied to be a family friend of the yagami family and he's the closest out of all of them to both soichiro and light. but the others? especially ide? NO!

seeing as ide only returned to the kira case after the yotsuba arc, he had 0 reason to feel sympathetic to light. he's definitely closer to aizawa than any character in the manga at least, so maybe aizawa told him? or over the years, light seemed like someone to trust? but at the same time, surely the case growing stagnant over the years would have been infuriating. and ide left before facing L in the first place because he couldn't trust L, if memory serves me correctly. the lack of logic here is astounding. ide was written as a character inheritly more sceptical than his counterparts (except for maybe aizawa, but i'll have to read the manga again to confirm that really)!

why would mogi, aizawa or ide continue to go along with light for so long despite no progress being made on the case? maybe, these questions would be answered if we didn't skip five fucking years!! or if they gave us a little more insight, it would be more logical

Quirk Assessment Test

I'm going to preface this by saying that this isn't about Bakugou, but I'm tagging it as such to prevent interaction with Bakugou stans. This is very Aizawa critical though.

I fully agree with the theory that Aizawa messed with the scores on this test. How did Izuku, who got absolutely jacked and also got a big score on the ball throw, get a lower score than some of his classmates? (Jiro, Hagakure, Kaminari, etc.) It was most likely Aizawa's way of trying to get rid of the kid he didn't see as worth helping, at least until Izuku impressed him.

That's not why I decided to post this though! I was thinking about it, and Aizawa's intro to the test makes no sense. He was saying that he thought it was illogical for schools to not allow quirks on fitness tests. Of course it is logical! The physical education classes are meant to improve your physical health, and if you can just sidestep that with your quirk, you are doing yourself a disservice. You would think that someone who needed to train as much as Aizawa did would understand that.

That's all I wanted to say, but if you want a bit of anti-Bakugou for your troubles, the author randomly makes him talented in different areas for no reason at all, and it is annoying, not to mention how it undermines the other characters with those talents -- especially when those talents are important to this character. I will probably make a post on that in the future.
