I've had some Howard fanart as my desktop wallpaper since august. I love it especially because it's done in a fake GTA style loading screen art style, which perfectly matches the style of promo art done for L.A.

The Aqaurius Mind: Pluto in Aquarius, Age of Aqaurius, and 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The recent events surrounding Katt Williams have stirred my interest, though this event barely scratches the surface of the cosmic workings. The year 2024 portends a great unraveling, as deciphered through its numerology (8) : the influence of Pluto looms over this year, with its placement in Aquarius.
This year's fixed energies signal transformation (Aquarius and Scorpio) and raw power (Taurus and Leo), with Uranus and Jupiter in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius. The impact of the fixed signs will be significant and profound.
Saturn's presence in Pisces heralds a great awakening. ;I am reminded of my own natal Saturn in the 12th house, which imbues this area of spirituality with discipline and authenticity.Saturn brings discipline and realness to this area of spirituality. And this is what we will see happening for those who are already tapped in. For those who are not this is another great chance similar to 2020 to awaken.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Turning to Vedic astrology, Saturn is positioned in Aquarius this year. In 2020, this was such a huge alignment the only difference is there won't be a great conjunction. But I could see similar potency already. With certain things being spoken about, and if you haven't heard. It's because the government (Saturn) is trying to hide (pisces) a lot of this information away from society. We are fully in the age of aquarius, and things will only continue to get exposed. And no matter how much certain authorities try to hide or stop it. It won't stop until the FULL truth is revealed. No matter how many people are killed, and etc. More and more will keep popping up until the mission is done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now switching to tarot, because this is how I connect a lot of my dots. The 21st card (The world card); This card consists of a lion (leo), an eagle (scorpio), a human (Aqaurius), and a bull (Taurus) We see all of these energies being pulled towards us. The world card is the very last card in the tarot deck and represents completion. Now, I would like to turn this over to venuz because he knows more about the cycles and years and stuff. But, I do, I want to also talk about the 10th card in tarot. This is the wheel of fortune. This card signifies karma, destiny, and fate. The cycle of life. This card also resembles the world card but not in a way where things are ending. It shows how life goes on & on. This card also has The Lion, The Bull, The Human, and The Eagle. The four corners of the world/ The angels of the four directions. We see how that number 4 is so significant. These are cycles, and fixed is the last stage. Beyonce was right, America really does have a problem...... The Seal has been broken. ☺ Now, to you venuz.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cycles......Yes, cycles! Everything evolves in cycles and changes, it's only so long you can stay in the same scenario or comfort zone without chaos knocking at your door. Aquarius is all about change and revolutionizing its surroundings and its people. This energy is at its boiling point. Every 20 years there's a recurrent cycle of same-aged groups with specific behaviors that change. So, if you add 3 more cycles to that it will be a 4 cycle switch, which every generation would affect the other. When the 80-year mark comes around it is a crucial period. Everything is done in cycles, it doesn't matter what it is. Saturn in Pisces will materialize everything you think of, or focus on. This will also bring about what you have been hiding, and not speaking. Thoughts of your subconscious will be brought to the surface, and some will have to face those fears. For Example, Katt Williams has known all of these lies, secrets, backstabbing, cheating, phony, and false allegations, so it's being materialized. All his thoughts, dreams, and deep-rooted issues about other comedians came out to the forefront without any care. As he spoke and exposed their behaviors in front of millions (mass 11th house) and demanded a change (pluto). This calls on the energy of Pluto in Aquarius.
Pluto in Aquarius loves erratic behavior and unexpected scenarios. Pluto comes with a punch and is at full throttle here. Many people are outspoken now and about change and freedom. Aquarius is all revolutionary and Pluto is a generational planet so change is bound to come. This is just the beginning of this world being destroyed and reconstructed into a new and profound system that isn't in line with these new powerful souls. This makes an 80-year period. 10 more years from now will make 90 years which is energy 9 which will be the completion of a major cycle. 8 is just the transformation period and reconstructing period, everything and everyone who wasn't living in their own essence and misusing their fortune, fame and financial abundance in a non conducive manner will reverse roles and be exposed for their inequality.
Like gorgeous Moon Devi said they're trying to hide what they're up to but Saturn in Pisces is revealing everything they have been hiding. So everyone wakes up to all those lies, takes off the rose-colored glasses, no more fantasy land, and is in a delusional state of mind. Pluto in Aquarius will allow everyone to have a voice and speak up, change what's not right, and stand for something even if you never did your whole life. If you were born in this era or if you were born to still be alive in this era get ready for the showdown. If watched in Living Color, this movie promises to be a captivating experience, delivering the answers to long-standing questions and revealing hidden truths. It has the potential to evoke personal fears, making them tangible and forcing introspection. It's a crucial time for everyone, not just celebrities or elites, to focus on self-healing, purification of the soul, and actualizing personal aspirations. Astrologically, the influence of Aquarius, which rules the 11th house of hopes and aspirations, and Pluto provides the necessary impetus to transform negative situations into positive ones, for oneself and the greater good.
However you envision your world to be, you will get the results in this transit. Imagine yourself as a kid at the art table, and you have a box of crayons, an blank piece of paper. The teacher tells you to draw your new world. How would you create it? Would it consist of peace, prosperity, and love? Then she says," Stand up in front of the class, and explain what your world looks like." You say it out loud in front of the class with conviction and power. Then you close your eyes and watch it manifest right before you, VOILA!!!

Hiya!!! Here's the WIPs I'm interested to hear more about, feel free to not answer if you don't wanna talk about these ones, or feel free to choose which ones you talk about ^^
Demon Essay (I'm very curious about this one)
Half blind meli
Gelda and Zeldris Angst
💜💜💜💜💜
The "Demon Essay" is something I started writing before the Demon Realm Arc in 4kota came out, before I started reading it in fact, and it's inspired by one of zorria's posts and kind of an exploration and 'defense' anaylsis of what we've seen from the demon clan. Big focus on Zeldris and antics from cursed by light. I'd love to send it to you and hear your thoughts, if you want!
2. I am very intrigued by my mutuals' angst aus especially the ones where Meliodas has more siblings. Half-blind Meliodas au is Balin's, and I thought the exteme gore and themes of it all might make for something really fun to work on during the spooky season.
https://www.tumblr.com/gh0stofyesterday/733211682615296000/littol-drawing-of-the-beginning-of-my-half-blind?source=share
https://www.tumblr.com/gh0stofyesterday/726865869113835520/hehehe-a-lil-pencil-sketch-of-my?source=share
ohhh LMAO should tag balin when I'm talking about its au: @gh0stofyesterday
Unfortunately a shitton happened since I first thought of my senario for this (ow) but it's is still in the works. My spinoff premise, basically, is about how his older sister's restless soul has - unbeknowst to the current her - kept cycling through a sort of 'unfair cosmic punishment' (as she'd call it) of reincarnations. She's lonely, she's angry, and she just can't seem to escape the repetition of loneliness and unfullfilment- 'cause she has no catalyst to help her get the help she needs to make a change for herself. And no therapist. Until, a couple loops through, she meets Meliodas again. Doesn't recognize him of course. Will she be able to connect with her brother? Will she even try? Can she? Tune in on: balin please help me make sure I didn't kidnap your character and play puppet with her incorrectly to find out!
And here's, uh, an excerpt:
The first time she ever looked at his sullen face, the burning rage in his eyes could level a mountain. Yes. Both of them. The exposed medical disaster that was his right eye barely moved as he tracked her movements, her wide lopsided smile, the tilt of her head, and the way she clasped her hands together as she told him “Welcome!” and motioned for him to sit beside her in the tent.
“I don’t know how to work with any of this shit,” he told her matter-of-factly, indicating her display of medical equipment. She’d only set it out arranged like this so it looked like someone was living and doing something worthwhile in here, but that was too pathetic to explain, so she just did the usual act of nodding like yes, she meant to do this, and “offering encouragement” instead of “retaliating to every little change in the atmosphere.” That curse rolled off his tongue as if he was mocking a dumb word in another language he was being forced to use and she didn’t appreciate it, not when the only thing they gave her to represent her expertise and profession was a flimsy banner saying ‘me-decal recruitment’ and they sent in this man with a sword slung across his back as a candidate.
“Not everyone has the skillset right off the bat-” oh, he didn’t seem encouraged by that at all. Toned-down confrontation it was. “Woah. Could you stop . . . radiating, hostile energy? Could we talk about that, by any chance?” “What do you know about me?”
“Excuse me, I asked you a question.”
3. The Geldris is inspired by what I feel is a severe lack of vampire Gelda antics and nicknamed affectionally as the "blood-drinking fic." The first is from Zeldris's perspective and involves one of his 'secret' shenanigans / errand master antics from the Holy War Era and is supposed to include a second "aftermath" part with some demon bros bonding. The second, is, uh . . . idk what to write for that yet! ideas welcome. I'm thinking a domestic scene.
Wrote a little metaphor - poem for when Gelda drinks his blood:
He tasted like wild berries and trampled leaves
quick snacks between sprints
one old seasoned bird snatched on a flight
That kind of quickly devoured game which took weeks of stalking
And a piece of the juiciest fruit handed down with love.
Like someone who cared for others before he cared for himself. He tasted like her.

I had an interesting Bee and Puppycat "Lazy In Space" theory just pop up in my head...🐝🐢💫🤡🐱
So. At one point in the show the audience sees a flashback scene, where Bee's dad is watching Bee as a toddler at the beach with Puppycat.
youtube
Bee's dad says at some point here: "She's really full of energy!...she really likes you. Sorry your ship isn't done yet, I'll let you know when it's fixed."
...remember that birthday song that was sung by Bee's music box/power charger from her dad? The song that when taken at face value sounds like a normal sweet b-day greeting, but in full knowledge of her robot origins, we know has a more deeper meaning to its lyrics?
youtube
...what if he wasn't in this flashback commentating on the way the toddler Bee was behaving here. What if like the birthday song was doing before we realized Bee's cyborg anatomy in the Donut Planet episode, Bee's dad is saying an entirely different secret meaning that we as uninformed viewers are only meant to take at face value? What if he is commenting on the fact that bee IS LITERALLY GETTING CHARGED FULL OF ENERGY. Like she is a robot. Or to be specific, battery power cell.
He helped Team Puppycat aka Violet/The Space Outlaw aboard their ship with his inventions in early childhood to harvest "candy", and inside those candies (which supposedly earn mysterious 'prizes') is what is described as pure cosmic energy. In the future, Bee's dad for every birthday sends Bee a piece of that strange energy candy to eat thru her repair/recharge box. The box which HE seems to currently be residing in (or at least some avatar or replica or spiritual essence of him, we do not quite know yet how that works out.)
We also see something else that gained a lot of fan theories in this flashback: Baby Bee is trying to stick a fork in a wall socket at some point and Puppycat stops her. We may at first assume this is just human Bee doing what all innocent babies do. A lot of folks speculate that current grownup Bee is either a cyborg who was resurrected or some mechanical doppleganger to replace the Inventor's lost daughter, when she perished. A lot of people assume if she died her death is due to drowning, thanks to her phobia towards water. But what if...Bee is NOT a doppleganger, or even someone that was ever organically fully human for most of her life, if any? What if she wasn't poking the wall out of infantile dumbness but by pure instinct to seek and fill her body up with electricity. With ENERGY. And what if her fears of the ocean and getting wet are not due to a suppressed trauma due to drowning but because since she KNOWS she is a machine, she KNOWS as a living device that it is not good for her circuitry to get wet?? Not only does being a type of AstroBoy / Skydoll/ CP30 type of android explain Bee's oddball nature, why she says things like 'everyone feels ticklish on the roofs of their mouths, except me...' it also explains WHY SHE DOESN'T AGE NORMAL. She might not physically or mentally ever age at all because she literally doesn't, she CAN'T until she receives new physical upgrades directly given to her by her father.
Bee speaks fondly about her father. And he seems gentle in mannerisms. But we do not at this point truly know what his motives are or what the connection with his daughter really is. Bee's dad seems to never write or text or send any video calls- DESPITE BEING A SUPER GENIUS with the obvious tech brilliance to easily do so. We never see him actually praise her or teach her human life skills. This explains why she keeps food in a toilet and lacks often basic social cues. Bee has a wistful, bittersweet way of talking about her father. What if she misses him, purely because she wants to have a relationship of any kind in the first place? What if she longs for him, not because she was loved so dearly as a child, but because she wants ANY type of a parent/child or scientist creator/robot creation bond at all? Why is Bee's dad biding his time in that box of hers? Is it because he is a distant parent, or is he aware of some dangers she physically presents? Bee has massive strength, but I think we have only just scratched the surface of her powers. Because why else does she have a self destruction sequence deliberately programmed onto her charging station? Why does it count down every birthday to destroy her, unless she reports back? Is it because she is like a walking talking nuclear fuel rod, and if she were to go rogue somehow, or disobey her programming, it might result in a devastating meltdown chain reaction? Or she might glitch and go on a mindless Terminator style rampage?
Tumblr media
Why else would Bee's father act so jovial yet distant toward her, if all he ever saw her was as a successful other invention of his? He might be proud of her existence, but not enough to treat her with paternal care. This is why *Puppycat* aka The Space Outlaw only acts as her caregiver nanny in the flashbacks. Not him! What if she was only ever built to sustain or become a physical part of Team Puppycats' ship, perhaps to even just exist as an AI system with a sentient consciousness, similar to the Improbability Engine in the Douglas Adams books, or animes like "Outlaw Star?"
My final point to make: now, in the present day, back on the island, there is a soft drink company that seems to be everywhere called ENERGY FOR WORK. There is a thumbs up logo on the branding, and that icon appears not just on the drink cans that Cass always fuels herself up on, but it can be also found on merchandise all over the island and on the clothes of island residents in the background. Know where else this icon shows up?...Right back where we started! In the flashback, aboard Team Puppycats' spaceship. Look closely and you will find it there in the background screens. Near code work that looks almost exactly like what Cass was typing up! 🤯
Yes yes I know this a long essay and all is wildly speculative. It could be just all a coincidence... but I was there, being a very early guesser long before the whole Pink Diamond affair. So I doubt it. 🤓

Hello! Am sending a questions about your Ascendence of a Bookworm x Resturant to Another World AU.
Which was you favorite part to write so far?
Has anyone traded goods such as plants or meats from Yurgenschmidt (hope I remember how to spell that) to Nekoya yet?
How well known is the restaurant among the merchants and commoners of Yurgen?
I find it fascinating to think of what the restaurant can make with the plants and meats found in each duchy that cannot be found on Earth.
I like how you managed to show the differences of culture, what the nobles expect to experience vs their real customer service experience, and the way the people who become regulars adapt to it in their own way.
I especially like how you’ve incorporated the regular order nicknames to each person. Once I remember who is who, it’s interesting to think of how the scenarios will play out with those present.
How did you come up for the favorite meals of other characters and do you have a list of them?
Thank you for making this wonderful story. I never thought this crossover would happen but now that it did, it is amazing! Hope you have a great day!
Screams~~!!
I wasn't really expecting an ask but I'm so happy I got one~~!!
Ok so from top to bottom:
My favourite part has to be writing about the Nobles meeting Mestionora, there just this delicious sort of (idk what to call it, karma maybe?) Thing in the air where Nobles are getting treated the same way most of them would treat the commoners you know what I mean, if face of a metaphysical cosmic entity they are *nothing* and the realization of that feels like such a juicy thing to write.
Yes, Mako and his fellow chef Leo are always trying to find ways to incorporate local food from Yurgenschmidt and the other world into their resrurant menu, Rozemyne traded a few fruits and veggies for cacao and coffee beans in the beginning when Alexandria's country gate wasnt connected to the land of sand. Now Rozemyne only imports cacao and about a kilogram or natto every week.
It's a bit of an Urban legend amongst merchants, especially travelling merchants, some don't belive it, others swear they saw it, benno makes a lot of money from all the new exotic foods Rozemyne brings with her to Alexandria and traveling merchants (atleast, the ones who found it) make it a point to find and label all (or as many) Nekoya doors they can find on their way (because food is essential to traveling merchants and their families) tho it's mostly not mentioned in the story itself cuz its a bit irrelevant to the plot (aka: I can't figure out a way to incorporate it without sounding forced it)
Aww thank you~~ ya I'd also love to see what the chefs could come up with using Yurgen meats and veggies.
I haven't made a list of them. Also I put a bit of thought into the names because that's the least amount of effort I could atleast put into the characters, example:-
Shuu - he's a Vtuber, meaning many sleepless nights, meaning he needs a lot of energy boosts to go about his day such as caffeine, so I chose melon soda because melon soda seems to be pretty popular in Japan.
😭😭😭 I am legit sobbing~~!! Thank you very much!! And have a great day as well!

floating through the cosmic unknown
Tumblr media
i was once a partly hollowed puppet that trusted the all-knowing people to pull my strings. of course, i knew how to walk the big blue orb on my own but at the same time, because i worried about the immense gaze that was ever so often embedded all over me, i let them take control. because if i committed a mistake on my own, they would immediately shove shame on my face. the moment that they will cease to love the show i gave them is a piercing needle that has always been stuck inside me. i could never bring myself to disappoint anyone. ever.
but as the years dapple me with more knowledge, i realize that people will only care for you when it benefits them. i think that's just our natural human instinct when we want a connection with someone that we perhaps find interesting. when there are the kind of people that make us feel good, this still bears the most of our attention. at least, this has been most of my experience. sometimes, i believe, it's okay. it's okay to follow those who gives you the most pleasurable feelings as long as we understand the limits and our boundaries on certain things.
but when this becomes too much to deal with and this relationship quickly shifts from being so pleasurable to something utterly tormenting, the realization that people only formed a connection with you because it gives them power and are willing to take every good thing that stems from you—is going to leave a lifetime painful impact. how is it that people can appear so genuine but have the most evil intentions?
sadly, this has been the cycle of my friendships during my college years. i only form friendships that lived for as long as a bubble floats in front of me. this, eventually, formed its own universe. when i look back at the earlier years of college, i somehow feel nostalgic with these bubbles of friendships i once had. these people i got to meet but somehow our relationship drifted because we stopped being blockmates. most have graduated, and some had change of plans with their future. i used to pity myself for not being able to keep friendships but then i realized that maybe these kinds of friendships formed on mundane routines just isn't my thing. i am not saying that i need a special kind of connection to remain alive in a friendship, but rather most people i meet were not just meant for me to be genuinely friends with. i guess i just didn't fit in places that i often show up.
Tumblr media
if i would be honest, during my long years in college, the only place where i felt like i really belong was in ADVO. despite having a lot of articles to write every single day, the university publication kept me sane. ADVO became my safe space; i was able to express myself in terms of writing, making art, and even in making friends with likeminded people. my self-confidence grew, and for the first time ever, i finally learned how to hold myself a lot better when faced with another human being. however, as years go by and they leave me behind one by one—i found myself going back to where i was before. it was as if i were in my first year of college again. i had no one; i knew no one.
most normal human beings would've probably done it all over again, to make new friends as much as possible, but since i am not normal (AH?!) i hid in my own cave. i just didn't have enough energy to let new people come into my life anymore. at this point, i just really wanted to graduate. sure, i liked our little interactions and the way that they exchange quick banters with their friends were entertaining. but, i have no more light left in me to keep more people at this phase of my life. so, instead of kindling a friendship, i resorted to putting the little energy i had into sharpening my craft: in writing, art, and music.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
with this, i had worked with a few writers, have gotten into the world of tattooing, commissioned some tattoo designs, honed my crocheting skills, collabed with a few musicians, and had improved my music/guitar skills. truly, i regret nothing. i may not have had the best of friends nor do i excel greatly in this field, but at least i somewhat have my mental health together. unfortunately, i do not aim high like everyone else. it is just not in my system, so, fulfilling the tiny yearnings that i have within myself were enough to keep me alive this long. now with my frontal lobe fully developed, i have accepted that i can only be certain things when i have the means to do them.
i have learned so much about keeping my mental health in a somewhat acceptable shape—i will forever be grateful that i did this for myself. despite. despite. despite...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as graduation slowly becomes a reality to me, i can finally give myself a pat on the back. this phase of my life is finally turning into a chapter that i can look back to. i can somehow see myself becoming a teacher in the future, but the weight of getting into the world of writing, arts, and music is heavier than my desire to teach: a longing i have been aching to satiate. perhaps this is why i have been so lonely during my college years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was once a partly hollowed puppet that trusted the all-knowing people to pull my strings. but i can stand on my own now and i have severed every connection with people that no longer brings value to my life. i am no longer afraid to make mistakes and disappoint people for the choices that i make for my own betterment. shame is a deeply rooted behavior of a person, it is solely a reflection of what they truly feel about themselves when they try to drag you down. i am no longer tied to what pains me.
here's to making a life through the cosmic unknown.

The Mosley Review: The Marvels
Tumblr media
Recently, the fandom surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become splintered into two types. On one side, you have the die hards that have enjoyed everything up to this point, but will also admit that there is a problem in the quality control with the films and television shows. On the other side, you have those that believe that we are currently experiencing superhero fatigue and Marvel has really gone down hill and should stop. Well, I'm of both camps. I have been there since day 1 and have enjoyed seeing these heroes have their stories told in a grounded manner. I also whole heartedly agree that ever since Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home, the franchise has been floundering when it comes to the great storytelling and truly is running out of gas. The clear vision of where these stories were leading to has been so vague in this "Multiverse Saga" and it has truly hindered any hopes of recovery. Now comes this film that seeks to continue the cosmic portion of this saga by bringing us a sequel to a film that did nothing truly special for its titular character, but at least she gets some help. It should make for a fun and engaging story that helps further each character in development and maybe right the ship a little bit. Right? Unfortunately, that is not the case here and especially for Captain Marvel. I thought Thor was being miss handled in his third and fourth films, but man this character was all but destroyed in just her second film. Its a sad day when all that is worth watching in your big budget space adventure is your main three leads and only one of them is the true star.
Tumblr media
Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel and she was better this time around as the character. She had genuine moments of humanity as we see her become not so perfect. Where it all falls apart is when she continues to be the battering ram of a character that has no regard for authority or the lives of others when making her decisions. There are almost no consequences for her actions and she ultimately becomes the true villain of the story in my opinion. Teyonah Parris returns as Monica Rambeau and she continues to be a fun addition to the universe and I liked the growth of her character. She gets to let loose a little more and not be as tight and focused all the time. Her emotional connection to Carol comes full circle and it was one of the highlights of the film. Iman Vellani makes a joyuss return as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel and she truly was the star of this film. Her adorable and youthful energy really saved so many scenes and you really connect with her as her worldly views expand. The chemistry between all three of them is where the film shines and makes the film entertaining. Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury, but I was saddened by him. For half of the film, Sam IS Nick Fury and the other half is Sam being Sam as he just reacts to things and is just there for the ride. His connections to Monica and Carol are still good to watch but other than that, he really didn't have much to do in this film. Gary Lewis was really good as the leader of the Skrulls, Emperor Dro'ge and he highlights one of the biggest problems of the film. He carries the devastating torch left from the Secret Invasion series and it was so depressing. The so called "hero" Captain Marvel just makes things worse for him and his species. Speaking of problematic, Zawe Ashton was fantastic as the main antagonist Supremor Dar-Benn. Its always more interesting when a so called villain is trying to do something for the greater good, even if their methods are cruel. She embodied that and I empathized with her. The reason why I say shes problematic, is that there wasn't really anything else interesting done with her. She had all the fixings to become a truly memorable villain, but she falls into that predictable trap of just fighting all the time and not trying to solve the problem logically. The action scenes between her and The Marvels were all great, but I wish she had time to actually shine.
Tumblr media
The score by Laura Karpman was good and puncuated the action scenes. I did like the theme this time around for Captain Marvel. It was more heroic and slightly more memorable. The action set pieces were the highlight of the film and there's plenty of it. So with all of the action sequences and spectacle stripped away, what do you have? A film about consequences for brash actions? No. Character growth of an older hero learning how to reconnect with humanity from another younger hero? No. How about using your head to solve a crisis for the betterment of a dying planet and/or its people? Not at all. What you have is a film that's all spectacle and none of the substance the Marvel films were known for in the past. For example, once we get to a solution for the antagonist that could benefit everyone, its as if the writer was like "Nah. That's boring. Make them fight and blow more stuff up!" and then the film is over. Honestly, the plot could've been solved in less than twenty minutes. Oh and don't get me started on the post credits scene. Its a cool reintroduction of a beloved character, but its an unnecessary over CGI'd version. I know the character looks more comic book accurate, but their practical version that was done years ago was so much better. This wasn't the worst Marvel film to date, but it didn't do Captain Marvel any favors. This was just a waste of time in the end. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in comments below. Thanks for reading!

Gelel and shikako, gelel reference shikako 'child, beloved child'? Maybe shikako is sleeping and gelel took form WHO resement of shikaku Pat her head?
Thanks for the prompt, demoniorangel! Unfortunately, this one's a little harder for me to parse--not sure if maybe there are some typos or I'm just misinterpreting where the clauses are but:
Gelel and Shikako. Gelel referring(?) to Shikako as "child, beloved child." Maybe while Shikako is sleeping, Gelel takes a form that resembles Shikaku and pats her head.
If that’s not what you meant, then that’s totally my bad, but this is what I’m going to use as a jumping off point for now...
Let’s see... my own headcanon regarding Shikako and Gelel’s relationship is more akin to sibling than parental (as briefly seen in vows under the auspices (only shooting stars)) in that Shikako was almost part of Gelel but through Shikamaru’s love/determination was allowed to come back and thus sister is a word, a relationship, they learned from her brother. The meaning: beloved and connected, but separate. Different but also similar, familiar.
ANYWAY, while I am still very fond of that bit of writing it’s not too hard to gently modify their relationship into a parental one. And I did recently re-read one of my all time faves, the Wee Doctor series by americanjedi (which is nearly a decade old?!), which in a cracky but also entirely sincere way has a physically de-aged John and a Sherlock from a different universe straddle that line between adult parenting a small child and cosmically fated best friends.
Which is not an exact one to one in this situation, of course, but I have to cite precedent (and it is honestly one of my forever faves.) I think in order to bridge that gap, there is a sort of... when it comes to being human, Shikako is the expert. When it comes to living, they are equals. When it comes to being a god/stars, Gelel is the expert. Or the mentor/parent as it were.
So I think its a situation where... OOOOOH...
Okay, whether or not it’s in the Gardens-verse post Split or its a very bleak “DoS canon future fic,” but I think its something like: Shikako is immortal and outlives everyone (or gets Split into a world where everyone has died.)  EVERYONE. And I’m not just saying everyone she knows and loves. I mean, every single human on earth. Every single ninken/ninneko/trained messenger hawk. Every single living being that has chakra (as opposed to just living energy? Unsure how to quantify that)
And in as much as I love actually-already-a-little-god!Shikako, I think this story would then be about a grieving Shikako going through the process of ascending and becoming an actual god with Gelel guiding her.
The scene which you described could be an interesting stumbling block of sorts because Gelel thinks they’re helping her by taking Shikaku’s form in order to express their affection to her in a way her physical sense can understand but that just makes her miss her dad (and, you know, everyone else) all the more.
It could be a very poignant fic--but also, BLEAK AS HELL. Sorry for wrecking your fluff, demoniorangel, I love making things incredibly melodramatic and sad. :D

New player anon again, thank you for your fantastic reply!! I'll admit there were a couple od things that I disagree with but I'm sure that stems more from my lack of enough research to these character's backstories
Someone in your replies had also said that it's better to consider the DD1 and DD2 characters as seperate entities and I can't help but agree. After all, the jump in premise from "exploring the cursed dungeon and driving back nasty monsters" to "literally saving the world from a bigger eldritch horror than last time" is a bit much in terms of upping the stakes. After all, while in DD1 it seemed believeable that warriors would come to the hamlet to be hired and were there for their own selfish reasons...what sort of reason is there for the DD cast to want to take on the apocalypse itself? The way I see it, most of the cast saw the dungeon crawling as a job, but I cannot see them tackling the DD2 big bad from the virtue of their hearts. Perhaps the Protege hired them but ehh...less believable than the Heir hiring them idk
Also DD1's main color palette being red is cooler than DD2's main color palette being blue lol
sorry for the late reply, irl just keeps getting to me and i have just enough energy for silly reports but nothing too serious
i'd love to hear things you disagree with, personally, because discussing characters is my passion, and even if i disagree with someone's take, it's always interesting to see how they justify it - if they justify it, and it's not, well, just a preference
starting with something easy - i would disagree that DD2 is "blue". Sure, the Ingress is blueish-black, but I guess it's more of a continuation of the "cosmic" theme. Blue/cyan/green are usually the colours of the "celestial" in the DD as far as I can see - take The Colour of Madness, for example - it's cyan, blue and grey, mostly, and those are the colours we somewhat see in Tangle and Shroud, locations "infected" by something cosmic/celestial. Meanwhile, red/black/purple are the colours of the Darkest Dungeon, The Heart, Crimson Curse (mixed with white), Cultists and whatever comes "from below", and they can be seen in Foetor and its assumed connection to Flesh and Sluice/Warrens to a lesser degree. besides, new location of Sprawl is definitely not blue, so i'm not sure what are you about here... the infodumps before each run? i'd call them grey. the Altar of Hope? it's always purple it's also grey. could you point what you mean by "being blue" here?
and regarding the other point you bring up... that's the issue i have! those are NOT different characters, this is NOT a different world, and we have quotes, items and characters to prove that. Baldwin says that he used to be religious when he interacts with Holy Beads in an inn. we meet Caretaker as Hoarder and at least some of the characters note that he is familiar to them. the one who teaches your heroes upped skills is none other than Guild Lady. we get Ethereal Dust and Otherwordly Fragment from The Sleeper. we get The Blood and The Wine from Crimson Court. hell, we see fully grown Willbur and Wilbur's Flag, much like we get those in DD1.
Damian is the most obvious and the latest living (?) proof of DD2 being a direct sequel of DD1, if Protege's story wasn't screaming it loud enough, since he and his Professor narrowly escaped (or Professor didn't quite manage to) being turned into the Necromancer from DD1.
frankly, if those were separate bubbles, separate branches of reality, i'd have a lot less gripe with DD2 lore- and character-wise, but (unfortunately?) RH go out of their way to prove how it IS a continuation of DD1, story-wise. that this is the same Dismas, that this Para is the same Para, and that Baldwin still somehow can get double leprosy.
also: the reason why they want to take a fight to an apocalypse can be, quite literally, a desire to survive or die trying; if they don't fight the apocalypse they'll die 100%. if they do fight the apocalypse... well, realistically, they still die 100% but they feel better about themselves. but this is not what happens in the game.
speaking of which.
my biggest gripe with DD2 is that it feels... "hollywood-y", for lack of a better term. a pack of socially undesirable underdogs, stopping the end of the world they have literally no way/no means/not enough understanding to stop by the power of drugs and friendship and maybe a gun they found along the way. let me explain.
in DD1 it was a war of attrition, either you mismanage your town (and yes, you have a whole town bending to your will and serving you, providing for you and implementing whatever you want and can afford), or whittle down cultists and horrors and breach in to... not win, no and this is an extremely important distinction, here! - but to return things to the status quo. the Heir(ess) cannot win against the Heart. they simply cannot. it's not a thing a human, cursed or not, can do. they can only perpetuate the cycle and return things to the start by stockpiling corpses of their mercs high as the sky in an attempt to do so. again, you have a whole town at your disposal and you can't win, you can only win more time which, in the end, is futile since it's a continuation of the cycle. notice you can't do anything about The Heart just as you can't do much about the Sleeper but return them to the start of the sleeping cycle, unlike more "corporeal" beings like Countess, Flesh, etc.
now, in DD2, you canonically have: a guy who nearly became the Necromancer's right shinbone, two horses, a wooden box with wheels and four traumatized people who had already seen some shite. no planning, no whittling, no attrition, no army, self-made as it was in DD1. and you do the biggest sin of the cosmic horror genre - you WIN. not survive. not escape with a few scars, a forever shattered sanity and a grey head. not return things to the feeble status quo by a MacGuffin and a connection to some cosmic entity (or being a larva of one). win. if you count the inn stops, the game is four days long. think about it. you WIN against an apocalyptic calamity which fucks up the entire WORLD (not some province, not even a country or a continent, not some lost backwater estate, the WHOLE WORLD) in four days. twenty if you want to be pedantic and include all five chapters. twenty five in we're being generous and adding sluice. twenty five days to win the unwinnable. i think the quickest i've seen DD1 finished was 16 weeks...? and again, that wasn't a win, narrative-wise even if the player won against the final boss. it was a draw, a reboot because you shouldn't be able to win against the cosmic horror. it's not how cosmic horror works...
please note, i'm not trying to diminish your love for DD2. go for it, enjoy what i have issues with, i'll be happy to see the fandom having new people and new takes. if you can explain or maybe just not care about it all, i genuinely envy you and wish i could, too. alas, here i am, overthinking the rule of cool and why RH does what they do.

Powerful Words - A Spiritual Story
I have over the years become more mindful with my thoughts so that even my inner dialogue, with me, myself and I is kind, and as conscious as I can allow it to be focused on. It used to be too easy to forget that I’m always in a conversation with myself, even when practicing silence with the outside World.
On all my travels, I’ve tested the waters of many spiritual modalities and practices. I have experienced several spiritual retreats both as a student and as a leader and facilitator. I’ve loved being the student and receiving brilliance from leaders and wise ones, and I’ve equally adored being the facilitator, watching others blossom and grow, under the extraordinary guidance.
I have seen people transform right before my eyes, with the words expressed that spell out their truths. Sometimes the mirror that is shown to them is one they haven’t been able to see or perhaps in some cases, haven’t wanted to look at, and under the gentle loving guidance, shared with channeled words of wisdom, I have seen lives dramatically change within moments. I’m always a little nervous when someone books for a clairvoyant session, because usually it means they wish to connect to loved ones who have left this earthly plane, and mostly it’s one specific and special person that they really love and miss.
I cannot speak for other gifted clairvoyants, but for me, I don’t even try to control what comes through, and instead allow for the time and space to invoke a natural flow of energy, that traverses several realms of life, even beyond this one.
When I am asked to step into the clairvoyant role, with heart in hand, I am always surprised and really delighted (perhaps relieved) when guidance pours through me, providing facts and essential proof that other realms exist with our loved ones. I have told people things they could verify, sometimes descriptions of the one they lost, even down to the fabric, color and design of the clothing they were buried in, and more exquisite details.
I feel I needed this proof as much as anyone, because I was a bit of a skeptic and didn’t entirely buy into the Worlds beyond this one. This in itself caused me great concern, even fear of leaving my body one day, and imagining stepping into an abyss that I would be stuck in for eternity. The guidance and words, the pictures and proof were so awesome and detailed, that I have not been able to deny that there is an eternal realm beyond this one. I have been told that the reason we aren’t gifted with full knowledge of it, is because it would make this plane so much harder to learn from or withstand at times of turmoil and trouble.
I am here to tell you in absolute terms that we aren’t being allowed to fully prove the outer realms of existence, partly because we’ve already got way too many distractions here as it is. It’s more than difficult to get anyone to even listen to the conversation that’s happening in their midst, never mind the larger one that’s going on cosmically all the time. Have faith my dear ones, that you are loved beyond words, with a powerful force that you have no idea of its infinite and unconditional love. You are held, supported in all you are, in all you do and in all that you express and experience. If it’s bad for you, it’s supported anyway, and if it’s good for you it’s supported anyway.
The great forces are silently moving all around each and every one of us, making sure that no interference is permitted with most of the experiences we choose, whether deliberately and consciously, or by our lack of understanding, and then more mindlessly and unconsciously. We get to be led by the power of our thoughts, feelings, WORDS and actions. Let’s be more mindful.

Hindu perspective on an extraterrestrial being
Anonymous asked:
Hi there, I have a question that I hope isn’t too strange. I was wondering if one/some of your mods could give me insight on how a Hindu character (living in near-future America) might react to encountering a near-omniscient or “godlike” alien lifeform, one with purview over a wide area of several galaxies but not the entire universe nor the future (although it does experience time differently than humans) – trying not to get bogged down in the details here, essentially the being consists of extremely small (atomic-level) “tendrils” connected to various points across the galaxy, able to intersect with objects including living organisms, and communicates with humans by dispersing spores which are inhaled.
I have only a very surface-level understanding of Hinduism, but from what I know, one of the central concepts is Brahman, an ultimate cosmic energy/being that (or who?) is not fully understandable to humans but has supreme influence and knowledge of the universe. There are also Devas and other kinds of spirits/entities that exist on different planes of existence than humans? Please correct me if this is wrong.
So my question is, how would a practitioner of Hinduism likely feel about coming into contact with an extraterrestrial being with a very higher-than-human-scale way of interacting the universe? My intent is absolutely not to have this extraterrestrial being “"disprove”“ Hinduism or any religion, although it would definitely upset our understanding of science/technology, and I’d like to make it clear here as well as in-text that the being is not the creator of the universe or its ruler, it is just a lifeform spanning a very large area, with much greater knowledge of the universe than humans. How would this be viewed from a religious Hindu perspective? Would it be reasonable for a character to interpret the existence of this creature in a way that connects to the Hindu system of deities? Or is this totally off-base, and they would consider the extraterrestrial to be something outside the realm of Hinduism or not applicable to it?
Interesting. I personally don’t see a problem with this because
a) your alien lifeform is not being touted as a saviour or creator
b) it’s not set out to invalidate Hinduism, which would otherwise raise the troubling implications of pseudoarchaeology and
c) Hindu cosmology allows for the existence of multiple parallel universes, each occupied by living beings. In fact, the supposedly objective reality of our earthly domain is said to be a form of “maya” or celestial illusion. In such cases, the existence of life outside of our plane of existence wouldn’t be incongruous to Hindu beliefs.
Besides this, as a Hindu moderator whose first Bollywood experience was an alien-centric film, here’s my non-sarcastic. non-derisive advice for you: watch Koi Mil Gaya (2003). I think, for all its desi-typical mushy romance and lots of dramatic crying, it’s still actually a really good example of an Indian film where the protagonist (whose mother is a devout Vaishnavite Hindu) never faces any sort of internal existential crisis of faith upon meeting a powerful alien entity. In fact, insofar as I remember, he actually thanks Lord Vishnu for sending him his new “friend” while his mother, herself the wife of a scientist, never thinks of the alien as something “profane” in the religious sense of the word. This may seem offbeat but I really think this movie can help you get an idea of the situation you described.
(Alternatively, PK [2014] satirizes the weaponization and commodification of religion in India by having an alien face off against a fraudulent godman, you can check that out for a different perspective, although if you’re not desi it’s best not to use this form of satire for such touchy topics.)

Pagan Paths: Wicca
Tumblr media
Wicca is the big granddaddy of neopagan religions. Most people who are familiar with modern paganism are specifically familiar with Wicca, and will probably assume that you are Wiccan if you tell them you identify as pagan. Thanks to pop culture and a handful of influential authors, Wicca has become the public face of modern paganism, for better or for worse.
Wicca is also one of the most accessible pagan religions, which is why I chose to begin our exploration of individual paths here. Known for its flexibility and openness, Wicca is about as beginner-friendly as it gets. While it definitely isn’t for everyone, it can be an excellent place to begin your pagan journey if you resonate with core Wiccan beliefs.
This post is not meant to be a complete introduction to Wicca. Instead, my goal here is to give you a taste of what Wiccans believe and do, so you can decide for yourself if further research would be worth your time. In that spirit, I provide book recommendations at the end of this post.
History and Background
Wicca was founded by Gerald Gardner, a British civil servant who developed an interest in the esoteric while living and working in Asia. Gardner claimed that, after returning to England, he was initiated into a coven of witches who taught him their craft. Eventually, he would leave this coven and start his own, at which point he began the work of bringing Wicca to the general public. In 1954, Garner published his book Witchcraft Today, which would have a great impact on the formation of Wicca, as would his 1959 book The Meaning of Witchcraft.
Gardner claimed that the rituals and teachings he received from his coven were incomplete — he attempted to fill in the gaps, which resulted in the creation of Wicca. Author Thea Sabin calls Wicca “a New Old Religion,” which is a good way to think about it. When Gardner wrote the first Wiccan Book of Shadows, he combined ancient and medieval folk practices from the British Isles with ceremonial magic dating back to the Renaissance and with Victorian occultism. These influences combined to create a thoroughly modern religion.
Wicca spread to the United States in the 1960s, at which time several new and completely American traditions were born. Some of these traditions are simply variations on Wicca, while others (like Feri and Reclaiming, which we’ll discuss in future posts) became unique, full-fledged spiritual systems in their own right. In America, Wicca collided with the counter-culture movement, and several activist groups began to combine the two. Wicca has continued to evolve through the decades, and is still changing and growing today.
There are two main “types” of Wicca which take very different approaches to the same deities and core concepts.
Traditional Wicca is Wicca that looks more or less like the practices of Gerald Gardner, Doreen Valiente, Alex Sanders, and other early Wiccan pioneers. Traditional Wiccans practice in ritual groups called covens. Rituals are typically highly formal and borrow heavily from ceremonial magic. Traditional Wicca is an initiatory tradition, which means that new members must be trained and formally inducted into the coven by existing members. This means that if you are interested in Traditional Wicca, you must find a coven or a mentor to train and initiate you. However, most covens do not place any limitations on who can join and be initiated, aside from being willing to learn.
Most Traditional Wiccan covens require initiates to swear an oath of secrecy, which keeps the coven’s central practices from being revealed to outsiders. However, there are traditional Wiccans who have gone public with their practice, such as the authors Janet and Stewart Farrar.
Eclectic Wicca is a solitary, non-initiatory form of Wicca, as made popular by author Scott Cunningham in his book Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner. Eclectic Wiccans are self-initiated and may practice alone or with a coven, though coven work will likely be less central in their practice. There are very few rules in Eclectic Wicca, and Wiccans who follow this path often incorporate elements from other spiritual traditions, such as historical pagan religions or modern energy healing. Because of this, there are a wide range of practices that fall under the “Eclectic Wicca” umbrella. Really, this label refers to anyone who considers themselves Wiccan, follows the Wiccan Rede (see below), and does not belong to a Traditional Wiccan coven. The majority of people who self-identify as Wiccan fall into this group.
Core Beliefs and Values
Thea Sabin says in her book Wicca For Beginners that Wicca is a religion with a lot of theology (study and discussion of the nature of the divine) and no dogma (rules imposed by religious structures). As a religion, it offers a lot of room for independence and exploration. This can be incredibly empowering to Wiccans, but it does mean that it’s kind of hard to make a list of things all Wiccans believe or do. However, we can look at some basic concepts that show up in some form in most Wiccan practices.
Virtually all Wiccans live by the Wiccan Rede. This moral statement, originally coined by Doreen Valiente, is often summarized with the phrase, “An’ it harm none, do what ye will.”
Different Wiccans interpret the Rede in slightly different ways. Most can agree on the “harm none” part. Wiccans strive not to cause unnecessary harm or discomfort to any living thing, including themselves. Some Wiccans also interpet the word “will” to be connected to our spiritual drive, the part of us that is constantly reaching for our higher purpose. When interpreted this way, the Rede not only encourages us not to cause harm, but also to live in alignment with our own divine Will.
Wiccans experience the divine as polarity. Wiccans believe that the all-encompassing divinity splits itself (or humans split it into) smaller aspects that we can relate to. The first division of deity is into complimentary opposites: positive and negative, light and dark, life and death, etc. These forces are not antagonistic, but are two halves of a harmonious whole. In Wicca, this polarity is usually embodied by the pairing of the God and Goddess (see below).
Wiccans experience the divine as immanent in daily life. In the words of author Deborah Lipp, “the sacredness of the human being is essential to Wicca.” Wiccans see the divine present in all people and all things. The idea that sacred energy infuses everything in existence is a fundamental part of the Wiccan worldview.
Wiccans believe nature is sacred. In the Wiccan worldview, the earth is a physical manifestation of the divine, particularly the Goddess. By attuning with nature and living in harmony with its cycles, Wiccans attune themselves with the divine. This means that taking care of nature is an important spiritual task for many Wiccans.
Wiccans accept that magic is real and can be used as a ritual tool. Not all Wiccans do magic, but all Wiccans accept that magic exists. For many covens and solitary practitioners, magic is an essential part of religious ritual. For others, magic is a practice that can be used not only to connect with the gods, but also to improve our lives and achieve our goals.
Many Wiccans believe in reincarnation, and some may incorporate past life recall into their spiritual practice. Some Wiccans believe that our souls are made of cosmic energy, which is recycled into a new soul after our deaths. Others believe that our soul survives intact from one lifetime to the next. Many famous Wiccan authors have written about their past lives and how reconnecting with those lives informed their practice.
Important Deities and Spirits
The central deities of Wicca are the Goddess and the God. They are two halves of a greater whole, and are only two of countless possible manifestations of the all-encompassing divine. The God and Goddess are lovers, and all things are born from their union.
Though some Wiccan traditions place a greater emphasis on the Goddess than on the God, the balance between these two expressions of the divine plays an important role in all Wiccan practices (remember, polarity is one of the core values of this religion).
The Goddess is the Divine Mother. She is the source of all life and fertility. She gives birth to all things, yet she is also the one who receives us when we die. Although she forms a duality in her relationship with the God, she also contains the duality of life and death within herself. While the God’s nature is ever-changing, the Goddess is constant and eternal.
The Goddess is strongly associated with both the moon and the earth. As the Earth Mother, she is especially associated with fertility, abundance, and nurturing. As the Moon Goddess, she is associated with wisdom, secret knowledge, and the cycle of life and death.
Some Wiccans see the goddess as having three main aspects: the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. The Maiden is associated with youth, innocence, and new beginnings; she is the embodiment of both the springtime and the waxing moon. The Mother is associated with parenthood and birth (duh), abundance, and fertility; she is the embodiment of the summer (and sometimes fall) and of the full moon. The Crone is associated with death, endings, and wisdom; she is the embodiment of winter and of the waning moon. Some Wiccans believe this Triple Goddess model is an oversimplification, or complain that it is based on outdated views on womanhood, but for others it is the backbone of their practice.
Symbols that are traditionally used to represent the Goddess include a crescent moon or an image of the triple moon (a full moon situated between a waxing and a waning crescent), a cup or chalice, a cauldron, the color silver, and fresh flowers.
The God is the Goddess’s son, lover, and consort. He is equal parts wise and feral, gentle and fierce. He is associated with sex and by extension with potential (it could be said that while the Goddess rules birth, the God rules conception), as well as with the abundance of the harvest. He is the spark of life, which is shaped by the Goddess into all that is.
The God is strongly associated with animals, and he is often depicted with horns to show his association with all things wild. As the Horned God he is especially wild and fierce.
The God is also strongly associated with the sun. As a solar god he is associated with the agricultural year, from the planting and germination to the harvest. While the Goddess is constant, the God’s nature changes with the seasons.
In some Wiccan traditions, the God is associated with plant growth. He may be honored as the Green Man, a being which represents the growth of spring and summer. This vegetation deity walks the forests and fields, with vines and leaves sprouting from his body.
Symbols that are traditionally used to represent the God include phalluses and phallic objects, knives and swords, the color gold, horns and antlers, and ripened grain.
Many covens, both Traditional and Eclectic, have their own unique lore around the God and the Goddess. Usually, this lore is oathbound, meaning it cannot be shared with those outside the group.
Many Wiccans worship other deities besides the God and Goddess. These deities may come from historical pantheons, such as the Greek or Irish pantheon. A Wiccan may work with the God and Goddess with their coven or on special holy days (see below), but work with other deities that are more closely connected to their life and experiences on a daily basis. Wiccans view all deities from all religions and cultures as extensions of the same all-encompassing divine force.
Wiccan Practice
Most Wiccans use the circle as the basis for their rituals. This ritual structure forms a liminal space between the physical and spiritual worlds, and the Wiccan who created the circle can choose what beings or energies are allowed to enter it. The circle also serves the purpose of keeping the energy raised in ritual contained until the Wiccan is ready to release it. Casting a circle is fairly easy and can be done by anyone — simply walk in a clockwise circle around your ritual space, laying down an energetic barrier. Some Wiccans use the circle in every magical or spiritual working, while others only use it when honoring the gods or performing sacred rites.
While it is on one level a practical ritual tool, the circle is also a representation of the Wiccan worldview. Circles are typically cast by calling the four quarters (the four compass points of the cardinal directions), which are associated with the four classical elements: water, earth, fire, and air. Some (but not all) Wiccans also work with a fifth element, called spirit or aether. The combined presence of the elements makes the circle a microcosm of the universe.
Casting a circle requires the Wiccan to attune themselves to these elements and to honor them in a ritual setting. This is referred to as calling the quarters. When a Wiccan calls the quarters, they will move from one cardinal point to the next (usually starting with east or north), greet the spirits associated with that direction/element, and invite them to participate in the ritual. (If spirit/aether is being called, the direction it is associated with is directly up, towards the heavens.) This is done after casting the circle, but before beginning the ritual.
What happens within a Wiccan ritual varies a lot — it depends on the Wiccan, their preferences, and their goals for that ritual. However, nearly all Wiccan religious rites begin with the casting of the circle and calling of the quarters. (Some would argue that a ritual that doesn’t include these elements cannot be called Wiccan.)
When the ritual is completed, the quarters must be dismissed and the circle taken down. Wiccans typically dismiss the quarters by moving from one cardinal point to the next (often in the reverse of the order used to call the quarters), thanking the spirits of that quarter, and politely letting them know that the ritual is over. The circle is taken down (or “taken up,” as it is called in some traditions) in a similar way, with the person who cast the circle moving around it counterclockwise and removing the energetic barrier they created. This effectively ends the ritual.
There are eight main holy days in Wicca, called the sabbats. These celebrations, based on Germanic and Celtic pagan festivals, mark the turning points on the Wheel of the Year, i.e., the cycle of the seasons. By honoring the sabbats, Wiccans attune themselves with the natural rhythms of the earth and actively participate in the turning of the wheel.
The sabbats include:
Samhain (October 31): Considered by many to be the “witch’s new year,” this Celtic fire festival has historic ties to Halloween. Samhain is primarily dedicated to the dead. During this time of year, the otherworld is close at hand, and Wiccans can easily connect with their loved ones who have passed on. Wiccans might celebrate Samhain by building an ancestor altar or holding a feast with an extra plate for the dead. Samhain is the third of the three Wiccan harvest festivals, and it is a joyous occasion despite its association with death. (By the way, this sabbat’s name is pronounced “SOW-en,” not “Sam-HANE” as it appears in many movies and TV shows.)
Yule/Winter Solstice (December 21): Yule is a celebration of the return of light and life on the longest night of the year. Many Wiccans recognize Yule as the symbolic rebirth of the God, heralding the new plant and animal life soon to follow. Yule celebrations are based on Germanic traditions and have a lot in common with modern Christmas celebrations. Wiccans might celebrate Yule by decorating a Yule tree, lighting lots of candles or a Yule log, or exchanging gifts.
Imbolc (February 1): This sabbat, based on an Irish festival, is a celebration of the first stirrings of life beneath the blanket of winter. The spark of light that returned to the world at Yule is beginning to grow. Imcolc is a fire festival, and is often celebrated with the lighting of candles and lanterns. Wiccans may also perform ritual cleansings at this time of year, as purification is another theme of this festival.
Ostara/Spring Equinox (March 21): Ostara is a joyful celebration of the new life of spring, with ties to the Christian celebration of Easter. Plants are beginning to bloom, baby animals are being born, and the God is growing in power. Wiccans might celebrate Ostara by dying eggs or decorating their homes and altars with fresh flowers. In some covens, Ostara celebrations have a special focus on children, and so may be less solemn than other sabbats.
Beltane (May 1): Beltane is a fertility festival, pure and simple. Many Wiccans celebrate the sexual union of the God and Goddess, and the resulting abundance, at this sabbat. This is also one of the Celtic fire festivals, and is often celebrated with bonfires if the weather permits. The fae are said to be especially active at Beltane. Wiccans might celebrate Beltane by making and dancing around a Maypole, honoring the fae, or celebrating a night of R-rated fun with friends and lovers.
Litha/Midsummer/Summer Solstice (June 21): At the Summer Solstice, the God is at the height of his power and the Goddess is said to be pregnant with the harvest. Like Beltane, Midsummer is sometimes celebrated with bonfires and is said to be a time when the fae are especially active. Many Wiccans celebrate Litha as a solar festival, with a special focus on the God as the Sun.
Lughnasadh/Lammas (August 1): Lughnasadh (pronounced “loo-NAW-suh”) is an Irish harvest festival, named after the god Lugh. In Wicca, Lughnasadh/Lammas is a time to give thanks for the bounty of the earth. Lammas comes from “loaf mass,” and hints at this festival’s association with grain and bread. Wiccans might celebrate Lughnasadh by baking bread or by playing games or competitive sports (activities associated with Lugh).
Mabon/Fall Equinox (September 21): Mabon is the second Wiccan harvest festival, sometimes called “Wiccan Thanksgiving,” which should give you a good idea of what Mabon celebrations look like. This is a celebration of the abundance of the harvest, but tinged with the knowledge that winter is coming. Some Wiccans honor the symbolic death of the God at Mabon (others believe this takes place at Samhain or Lughnasadh). Wiccan Mabon celebrations often include a lot of food, and have a focus on giving thanks for the previous year.
Aside from the sabbats, some Wiccans also celebrate esbats, rituals honoring the full moons. Wiccan authors Janet and Stewart Farrar wrote that, while sabbats are public festivals to be celebrated with the coven, esbats are more private and personal. Because of this, esbat celebrations are typically solitary and vary a lot from one Wiccan to the next.
Further Reading
If you want to investigate Wicca further, there are a few books I recommend depending on which approach to Wicca you feel most drawn to. No matter which approach you are most attracted to, I recommend starting with Wicca For Beginners by Thea Sabin. This is an excellent introduction to Wiccan theology and practice, whether you want to practice alone or with a coven.
If you are interested in Traditional Wicca, I recommend checking out A Witches’ Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar after you finish Sabin’s book. Full disclosure: I have a lot of issues with this book. Parts of it were written as far back as the 1970s, and it really hasn’t aged well in terms of politics or social issues. However, it is the most detailed guide to Traditional Wicca I have found, so I recommend it for that reason. Afterwards, I recommend reading Casting a Queer Circle by Thista Minai, which presents a system similar to Traditional Wicca with less emphasis on binary gender. After you learn the basics from the Farrars, Minai’s book can help you figure out how to adjust the Traditional Wiccan system to work for you.
If you are interested in Eclectic Wicca, I recommend Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner and Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham. Cunningham is the author who popularized Eclectic Wicca, and his work remains some of the best on the subject. Wicca is an introduction to solitary Eclectic Wicca, while Living Wicca is a guide for creating your own personalized Wiccan practice.

Counterpart to this
(Chat noir's side)
Shadowmoth had entered here!
Chat noir was sure of it.
Ladybug had told chat noir to sit tight while she and Rena Rouge went to get help. Sentimonsters were running rampant and the trio agreed that it was too much for them alone.
But how could he when Shadowmoth was right there! This could be the only chance they had of tracking him down!
The Cats night vision helped him naviagate the dark underground of the city. It didn't take long for the cat hero to realize he was in the catacombs.
"Spooky. Oddly fitting for Shadowmoth."
He pulls out his communicator to contact Ladybug... but no signal.
"I can't connect, strange... Ill jump out and call..." Chat noir's sentence was stopped as he collided with a wall.
"What the... I could have sworn that there was a door way behind me." The cat commented.
He decided to start walking. Perhaps finding the villain would make finding the way out easier.
Chat noir began making his way through the catacombs. The place emitted a feeling of ominous dread. He never did like this place.
The tight dark spaces, the creepy feeling of being watched, and the nasty smell. Of course Shadowmoth would feel right at home.
Chat noir found himself hitting a dead end.
"Jeez this place is like a maze."
His nail to scratch an X on the wall.
"Thats one dead end."
The Cat hero made it a habit of doing that whenever he ran into a dead end.
As he encountered more and more dead ends her felt his calm start to shake.
"Is this place getting smaller?" He said in a joking manner to himself, but clearly was more panicked than he was trying to let on.
He started moving a bit faster, trying to find an exit, but every path seemed to take him to an X.
"No way, I know I haven't been down this way before..." Chat noir spoke in disbelief.
He was starting to get frustrated. Surely Ladybug noticed he was gone.
"Calm down Chat noir, Ladybug likely noticed you're missing and will be here to help."
"Hey where's chat noir?" a voice calls out. A familiar voice.
Chat noir focused on the sound, it was Rena rouge! He rushed to find the location of the sound.
"Rena! I am so glad to..."
Chat noir found himself looking at a wall, but something was different. Instead of a blank wall, it was projecting something. Chat noir could see Rena Rouge and Ladybug as clear as day. He could hear them.
"Where is that cat, I told him to wait here." Ladybug stated with a bit of annoyance.
"Should we go look for him?" Rena Rouge inquired.
"Look at the city! we don't have time to search. Im sure he will catch up." Ladybug insisted.
"Right!"
The two fist bump and run off as they head into battle.
Chat noir took that as a sign that he needed to find a way out. But as he turned, he noticed the way he came was gone. There was no door. He was just stuck in the room, with the broadcast. Chat noir finally realized it, this place was alive!
"So its a sentimonster's doing! Lets see how you like it when I destroy..."
Suddenly a pair of eyes show up on the wall. Then another pair.
The cat realized, the sentimonster WANTED him to use his power. It would cause the place to go haywire and he would be put on a time limit. He could be exposed if he tried it. What should he do?
Chat noir looked around the small room and noticed the broadcast was continuing. He took a deep disappointed sigh. All he could really do was watch. If things get really desperate for Ladybug, he will cataclysm the sentimonster and rush to her, consequences or not.
So Chat noir sat down and continued watching the broadcast.
He heard every quip, every word. He saw how Ladybug got down on herself when the guardian's Su Han had called got controlled.
He saw the reveal of Rena Rouge being Alya as she had to fight her akumatized family. That was a shock! And he could see the emotion of the whole situation.
He even saw Ladybug hit her lowest point which seemed to happen whenever Shadowmoth did something extra nefarious.
Chat noir tried calling out to her, trying to cheer her on, but he wasn't needed. Rena Rouge took over. She told Ladybug the encouraging words in his place.
"Even if its just the two of us, we can fight the whole world." Rena Rouge stated confidently. "Trust me."
Ladybug smiled as she met the fox's fist with her own.
"There's no one I can trust more!'
Chat noir felt his heart shatter. Was this real? Was this really happening? Was this just an illusion made by the sentimonster that trapped him? Regardless it was torture.
But he couldn't stop watching. He saw how Ladybug and the other heroes turned it all around. Scarlet shadow moth was shocked. He was in awe of ladybug and the other heroes. He was giving the cliché villain speech of how it wasn't possible, and then at the moment the Rena Rouge snagged his staff, the broadcast ended.
"I wasn't needed..."
He hugged his knees.
"Was I holding her back? Rena Rouge didn't need to sacrifice herself. She did everything I would have done but better..." Chat noir whispered as he felt his heart sink.
Was she just humoring me by keeping me around? Was I there just to be comic relief? Does she even trust me? Did she notice he was gone the whole time? Would she even care if he left?
These thoughts flooded the depressed cats mind.
Was she my partner only out of obligation?
That last thought made him stand up.
"CATACLYSM!" He roared as he hit the wall infront of him.
He heard the wailing of the creature that made up the maze. He saw the walls shifting like crazy! Some expanding and other's tightening. He needed to get out of there!
He still felt those negative feelings and it clouded his mind as he failed to dodge one of the moving walls, snapped on his leg like a mouse trap.
"No!"
Chat noir felt his despair grow as he noticed more walls moving and pulling him down. He was doomed.
"No wonder Ladybug wants to replace me." He said as a tear streamed down his face.
Thats when the cat noticed a black butterfly move towards him.
"No!" Chat noir tried to struggle but he couldn't get away as the akuma flew into his bell.
Chat noir screamed as the akuma tried to get into his head, but he can hear the sweet calls. It can give him the power to escape, he can have the power to show Ladybug he isn't replaceable.
He can show them all.
Chat noir did his best to resist. But all of the emotions he had been trying to suppress had burst to the surface, he couldn't resist.
He felt his resistance slip. The sentimonster stopped moving as Chat noir heard Shadowmoth's words.
“Chat Blanc! I give you the power of infinite destruction, to destroy anything and everything that causes you pain. In exchange, you will bring me Ladybug’s miraculous.”
Chat noir felt himself give in.
His black costume shift to become white. His green eyes turned a cold ice blue. His blond hair also matched his costume.
A new emotion filled him.
Pure rage.
"Mega Cataclysm."
A massive burst of destructive energy burst from his hand. He erased the rampaging sentient maze. He could finally see the outside.
He looked around and saw the Eiffel Tower.
"There." He said to himself before sprinting towards it.
Chat blanc noticed a few foolish individuals trying to stop his approach, but they were not strong enough to stop him. He casually swiped them without slowing his pace.
In a matter of minutes he had reached the top of the French monument.
“Excellent timing Chat Blanc.”
The Cat looked at the villain for a moment, expressionless. Internally he was seething in anger. All of the pain the villain had caused him. He hated him
“Ladybug we might need a lucky charm here”
The cat heard Rena Rouge say.
“It happened again…”
Ladybug muttered in horror.
She seemed to be zoning out. Was he not even worth her attention.
“Now Chat Blanc. Take the miraculous!”
Chat blanc had no interest in the villain's commands. But a thought popped into his head.
“I shall.”
Shadowmoth Laughed only to suddenly de-transform into Gabriel Agreste, right in front of the two heroes.
He had snatched both miraculous from him, and was looking at the villain with sharp eyes.
The cat villain was shocked for a split second. But it made sense in a sick cosmic sense. He decided he didn't care. His father was a monster that didn't care about him, so why should he care about his father?
“Chat Blanc! How dare you disobey me! I am your…”
“You are nothing…”
Chat blanc cataclysmed the man before he finished his sentence.
“… but a failure of a father.”
He turned his attention to Ladybug and Rena Rouge.
“Wow… that was excessive… But no worries. Just pass ladybug the akumatized item and we can undo all the damage done today.” Rena Rouge said as she composed herself.
The cat looked at the fox with contempt, how he wanted nothing more to destroy her for replacing him. But... a new more sinister thought pops into his head.
Chat Blanc raised his hand in the air.
“Cataclysm.”
A ball of white light formed in his palm and began growing.
Ladybug snapped back to reality as the gravity of the situation became real.
“Chaton stop! You can’t destroy everything! This isn’t you!”
He would destroy her legacy.
“Destroy Akuma Charms” He spoke.
Little balls of energy bursted out from the large cataclysm. The tiny energy balls located and destroyed every anti akuma charm Ladybug had ever created.
After that task was finished. Chat blanc lowered his hand, and a Cheshire grin appeared on his face.
“So I finally have your attention.”

QnA: Zone Cop Briefing
Zally: Hello there everyone.  I’m Zally, Head of Communications for the Zone Cops.  Joining me today is our top officer Zonic...
Zonic: Hi there! Zally: And his protege, Zails. Zails: Uh, hello.  That’s a lot of people w-we’re talking too. Zally: The staff at Archie Sonic Online have received a lot of questions about Zones, Zone Travel, Time Travel, and several covering some combinations of these topics.  And so, they have asked us to give this briefing, to hopefully explain some of the basics about Zones and Time Travel, and with luck we’ll answer your questions as we do so. Just before we begin however, it’s important to say that, while what we will say today is the case for… hmm…. At least 9 out of 10 situations, there are several exceptions.  Zonic: Not to mention Nega and that Genesis Wave messing everything up… Zally: Ahem!  Going into all of them would take far too much time, so we’ll just say for now that ‘exceptions to these rules do exist’ and start the briefing. To begin, most Zones fall into two distinct types.  There are the True Zones, such as say the Prime Zone and the Sol Zone, complete universes in themselves.  Then there are the Pocket Zones, which have limited internal dimensions, can often be found within a True Zone, and can also be disrupted by tremendous emissions of energy.  The Special Zone, formally the Zone of Silence, was one such Zone, as was the Pocket Zone destroyed when Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles from the Prime Zone fought. There are multiple ways that Pocket Zones can be created, natural and artificial.  But for True Zones, they are only created when a Triggering Event occurs in the Prime Zone.  Other Zones cannot split to form new Zones.  It might help to think of the Multiverse almost like a tree, with the Prime Zone as the trunk, and other Zones the branches growing from it. Triggering Events have a few requirements.  There has to be a number of likely possible outcomes.  And the different outcomes must have fundamentally different effects on the future of the Prime Zone.  For example, Prime Sonic choosing how many chilli-dogs to eat might have several different likely outcomes, but none would result in any fundamental change, so it would not be a Triggering Event.  In the opposite way, Prime Robotnik debating whether to use the Robotizer certainly had a massive effect on the events in the Prime Zone, but the chances of him choosing to not use the device were so slim, no new Zone was created. A Triggering Event need not be a single decision made by one person.  It could be several smaller decisions made by a group of people that nevertheless results in a different outcome.  It could even be the results of a natural occurrence.  When life was reforming after the Gene Bomb in the Prime Zone, there were so many different directions it could take, that this is where the vast majority of Zones were created.  Numerous Zones were also created when the Prime Zone first formed, some with wildly different laws of physics. When a new Zone is created, it is completely duplicated.  The entire timeline is copied, not just from the Triggering Event.  Though on that subject, the passage of time can be different between Zones.  Time runs faster in some Zones compared to the Prime Zone, such as the Zone Robo-Robotnik hailed from.  In some, it runs slower, such as in the Twilight Cage.  And in others, it can run at the same rate as the Prime Zone, but the point where the Prime Zone and the other Zone meets are at different points in their timelines. That covers the creation of Zones.  So moving onto Zone Cop operations, I’ll turn to Zonic. Zonic: Thanks Zal… uh, Zally.  As I’m sure most of you are aware, the Zone Cops monitor activity within the different Zones, as well as travel between the different Zones.  Different units of Cops have different roles, from general monitoring, to patrolling the Cosmic Interstate, to protecting against threats to the Multiverse.  For me, my job means I’m called in when direct action is required in another Zone. This is… a difficult job.  You could well ask why don’t we help out whenever something bad happens in the other Zone.  Truth is, that could cause a horrible imbalance, and lead to more disastrous consequences further down the line.  It’s not easy sitting on the sidelines, but sometimes we have to. But then, there are times we do need to act to make sure a greater threat doesn’t rise.  You’re likely aware of some of those times, as that’s when I’ve brought in Prime Sonic.  Why him?  Well, the Prime Zone is only a step away from all the other Zones, even wildly different ones like the Sol Zone.  And Prime Sonic is, in all honesty, one of the most capable Sonic’s in the multiverse, so I know it’s in good hands.  We could send in a squad of Zone Cops instead, but one Sonic can do, with very little disruption, what it would take several squads to accomplish. This has all gotten a lot harder recently, with Eggman Naga swarming over the Multiverse causing massive disruption, and the recent damage inflicted to Zone Jails. Alright, there’s a bit more to cover, but that’s for the end.  Right now, I’m gonna turn to Zails.  He’s still training to be a Zone Cop, but as one of his training projects, he’s done a Case Study on Silver the Hedgehog, so he’s here to talk about time travel.  Take it away Zails. Zails: Uh… Alright *deep breath* You can do this Zails.  Silver the Hedgehog is a time travelling Hedgehog… That’s redundant, isn’t it?  Uh… so… Silver has travelled through time, but there have also been incidents where he’s interacted with different Zones aside from the Prime Zone, known as Light Mobius and Dark Mobius. So, er, Time Travel and Zone Travel do share many similar principles.  Travelling between Zones is easy, as No-Zone and the Cosmic Highway connect all Zones.  Even travel that doesn’t use the Cosmic Interstate, such as Star Posts, tend to make use of that connection.  Time Travel is much harder, though it is easier to travel forwards, going with the flow of time, than backwards, working against it. This means it’s very easy, if you don’t know what you’re doing, to accidently move between Zones when Time Travelling.  Er… *checks notes* Jani-ca from Dark Mobius did this, accidentally travelling to the Prime Zone when she went back in time.  It’s easier to do when you are going back before the Triggering Event that created your Zone. And so, if you know how to Time Travel, it is much easier to travel to other Zones. Which leads us, uh, to the next question.  ‘Does time travel create new Zones?’  The answer is ‘it depends’.  Keep in mind, looking at Silver, given the chance it was unlikely he wouldn’t go back in time.  And when he found out about Mecha-Sally, also unlikely that he wouldn’t stop her.  So his actions changed the future, without creating a new Zone. On the other hand, King Sonic of Light Mobius.  Once, it was the future of the Prime Zone.  But when he went back in time, his actions created such wild changes, that Light Mobius became its own Zone, and the future of the Prime Zone was shifted away from it. Which then leads to a bigger question.  *takes a breath, checks notes*  ‘If you change the future, doesn’t that create a paradox where you wouldn’t have gone back to change the future?’  Okay, when someone goes back in time, they become part of the past, as if they always existed there.  So when they return to the future, they’ll still remember their old life, even if their actions have created massive changes.  We think.  This is partially theoretical, based on observing Silver.  There is one last question: ‘Why are some things from Light Mobius seen in Silver’s future?’  This is because of the way Light Mobius was created.  There is still a connection between Light Mobius and the Prime Zone.  Sometimes, things leak through.  Maybe just objects, but at some point, even Tikchaos, or part of her, was able to slip into the Prime Zone. *looks over notes* Uh… that’s everything from me, so, er, back to Zonic. Zonic: Thanks Zails, you did great. *gives thumbs up*  Our last topic is on Zone Numbering and Naming.  There are countless Zones, and each is given an ‘official numbering’, based on the date and exact time of its creation.  These numbers, as you might expect, are VERY long.  So instead, we usually refer to the ‘Case File’ Numbers.  These numbers, after the first 100, are based on when we start to take an interest in that Zone.  The first 100, well, we were trying to rate the Zone’s by importance.  We really messed that up! *chuckles*  For naming a Zone, that honour is given to the team who first open a Case File on a Zone.  *communicator beeps* Oh, that’s right!  Just one other thing to note.  We've heard rumours of another 'Sonic Prime'.  We don't know any details yet, but we're investigating.
Okay, I think that is everything.  Zally? Zally: Yes, we’ve just about covered everything.  I hope we’ve managed to answer most of your questions.  But before we leave, we’ve had numerous requests for knowing the name and designation of a number of Zones.  So we’ll leave those with you. Thank you so much for listening.  Now, here’s the list:
#001 – The Prime Zone – This is the zone where all others originate from, where Sonic and the heroes of Mobius fight against the tyranny of Dr. Eggman.
#017 – The Stealth Zone – This zone features a planet Mobius where the superhero Stealth the Hedgehog fights villains such as Professor Egg.

Essential Avengers: Avengers #253: CONQUERING VISION
Tumblr media
March, 1985
The Vision vs. Quasimodo... in the heart of a machine!
ITS A ROBOT RUMBLE
ON THE INTERNET!
The Avengers seem very perturbed. Or maybe they’ve placed bets and are yelling at each other.
Anyway. Anyyyyyywayyyy.
Last time on Avengers: Vision became confined to a tube and was only fixed when Starfox hooked him up to Titan’s supercomputer ISAAC. While it helped Vision fix himself, it also seems to have changed his personality. Vision began conspiring with ISAAC to build a take-over-the-world-for-its-own-good device so he could take over the world for its own good and erase the evils and inequalities of man.
Vision was hesitant to pull the trigger on becoming a well-intentioned extremist and tried to gain power and influence by becoming the Avengers chairman and trying to make them more prominent with a branch team and closer ties to the White House.
But when anti-mutant arsonists burn down Vision and Scarlet Witch’s house during a new wave of anti-mutant fear, Vision decides ‘mmm yup, taking over the world time’. He distracts the Avengers by sending them to babysit the army as they poke Thanos technology that they shouldn’t poke and accidentally summon the Blood Brothers. And distracts Captain Marvel to go check out Thanos’ ship several light hours away past Pluto. Black Knight shows up unexpectedly but Vision shoves him into a tube to keep him out of trouble.
And now I guess Vision is going to fight Quasimodo the robot guy? Not sure how that fits in.
Tumblr media
But first, some West Coast Avengers!
Like I said last time, they didn’t stop doing stuff just because their book is over.
Mockingbird happens to run into some drug runners while getting in some flight practice and figures heck why not beat up an entire boat full of gun-toting people as a light workout.
I guess the Quinjet can hover? Doesn’t seem to have thrusters or repulsors on the bottom or be a VTOL but hey, super advanced possibly Wakanda tech. It can do what it likes.
Mockingbird turns the drug runners over to the Coast Guard and returns to Palos Verdes and even gets to fly into one of those cool cliffside hangers disguised as a perfectly normal cliff. The West Coast Avengers revamped the hell out of the compound they bought.
Can you even legally excavate into a cliff like that? You can if you’re a superhero, I guess.
Tumblr media
For some reason, there’s a fakeout where its implied Tigra is licking herself, cat style, but she’s just stretching. At least I hope the joke is that it sounded like she was cat cleaning herself and not something else.
One can never tell.
Anyway, I assume Hawkeye is just annoyed that he’s going to be vacuuming hair out of expensive equipment banks later. But really its that what if he threw a meeting and only he and Tigra came?
Mockingbird comes in not long after Hawkeye complains, slightly delayed from beating up drug runners. Wonder Man comes in shortly after, delayed by
FASHION
Tumblr media
You know, this is a pretty great costume for Wonder Man. Its what all his modern outfits are based on when he’s not just dicks out energy man. I think I like the red jacket outfit more because being the only guy who dresses in ‘normal’ clothes while still looking somehow out of fashion with normal people fits for Wonder Man.
But I do love this one too. Its got a simple charm. Deciding that Wonder Man’s colors are black and red instead of Christmas green and red was a great decision and I’m sure that nobody will ever try to put him in red and green again.
Hawkeye grouses “Next, I suppose Iron Man will show up with a new chrome job!” but Iron Man is Sir Not Appearing in This Comic.
And the reason why is... looks like Tony and Rhodey are beating the crap out of each other in Iron Men armor this same month in Iron Man #192.
I don’t know the details but dammit Tony!
Anyway, over at last issue’s plot, the Avengers are still in Thanos’ ex-secret base in Arizona, still rolling their eyes and smh at the US Army for poking things what should not be poked.
Starfox and Scarlet Witch find a chamber blocked by rubble which has a symbio-nullifier which Starfox proposes to use to symbio-nullify the Blood Brothers.
First, he flexes on the US Army.
Tumblr media
Army Guy: “It must weigh tons!”
Starfox: “Tons? Yes. But only about eight-and-a-half! Hardly any bother at all!”
Good flexing, Starfox.
Meanwhile, Captain America’s scolding has born fruit. The Pentagon has agreed to seal Thanos’ base, pending further investigation. And Colonel Farnam agrees because his training never prepared him to deal with MONSTERS FROM OUTER SPACE.
Also meanwhile, the army took pity on Hercules’ poor pantsless state and slash or were intimidated by it and have lent him a uniform.
He wears it as you’d expect Hercules to wear it.
Tumblr media
With plenty of plunging neckline.
Since the Blood Brothers have a psionic link which makes them stronger the closer they are, Hercules has chained them up on very distant parts of the base.
But this precaution is rendered moot pretty quickly when Starfox returns with the  symbio-nullifier to symbio-nullify the Blood Brothers.
Starfox suspected that Thanos had one of these lying around as a precaution if he was going to let the Blood Brothers into his base.
Hercules lightly complains that he didn’t get a good fight with the Blood Brothers especially since the hordes of Muspell and Maelstrom’s wacky minions were interesting but not all that much of a challenge for the prince of power.
Back at the Avengers Mansion, the giant holographic head of Vision is still dealing with Dane Black Knight Whitman. Mostly by showing him video footage of how the other Avengers are tied up.
Dane is confused for multiple reasons, including that when last he heard Wasp was the leader.
Vision: “My failure to anticipate your arrival was an unfortunate lapse. I regret that, as a result, you must suffer the indignity of incarceration.”
Dane: “But... why?! What does keeping me in a tube accomplish?”
Vision: “It prevents you from interfering! You see, I have come to the conclusion that the only way I can fulfill my duty to make the Earth a safer place... is to run it myself!”
Dane: “What?!? But that’s crazy! Uh... I mean, you can’t possibly...”
Vision: “Exactly the sort of reaction I expected!”
Vision: ‘See, this is why you’re a tube boy now.’
Vision turns off the hologram saying that Dane will understand when its all over.
As usual when somebody says something like that, Dane isn’t reassured, just more convinced he needs to break out and warn someone.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure if its not already too late since Vision is safely ensconced in his take over the world chair in his secret take over the world room.
ISAAC’s head hologram shows up to Vision and asks him what the delay is, chop chop get to taking over the world for its own good.
Vision: “Sorry, ISAAC... I was just remembering how much I enjoyed having a body.”
Oh my god.
ISAAC: “What’s the sense of that? This entire world will soon be your ‘body’! How can the mobility of a single humanoid form compare to that?”
Vision: “I wouldn’t expect you to understand, ISAAC. It’s odd, though, so many times others have controlled my body... the robot Ultron, the Mad Thinker, Necrodamus... All have tried to subvert my mind and take me over. And now here am I... about to initiate the greatest takeover of all. One would almost think there were some mad connection -- !”
ISAAC: “Vision! You must not tarry!”
.................. Um, okay. So, rather than just being influenced by his brush with death and also brush with supercomputer, I think Vision is being actively manipulated into this by ISAAC.
I don’t know why but I do know that Vision continues being a viable character for decades so he probably can’t be burning all his bridges here.
Anyway, Vision uploads his psyche into the internet.
Tumblr media
And like immediately starts taking over everything. One page montage immediately. The Pentagon, Cheyenne Mountain, SHIELD, satellites, the Kremlin.
Presumably the best security systems in the world barely warrant a mention for Vision’s mighty synthezoid brain.
He’s pulling a Skynet (for the world’s own good, so he says) and its barely an effort.
The scenery of being on the internet is, I dunno, pretty standard? Bright colors  and dashes of light? I feel like I’ve seen it a lot of places.
But if we’re on page 13 of a book and Vision is effortlessly Skynetting, whats the rest of the issue going to be about? Interestingly, to me anyway, despite this being Vision’s turn villainous or well-intentioned extremist, another villain gets shoved in anyway for him to fight.
As Vision is nyooming around the Kremlin’s computers, he nearly runs into another AI, Quasimodo.
Tumblr media
Helpfully, we get a recap of Quasimodo’s ENTIRE LIFE STORY because this is pre-fan wikis and I don’t think Quasimodo has appeared in Avengers before.
He was created to be the ultimate computer by the Mad Thinker but was abandoned when he developed a mind of his own.
Quasimodo was found by the Silver Surfer who used the cosmic powers of the Power Cosmic to transform Quasimodo from a computer into a robot.
Turning to the wiki for more information: He turns on Silver Surfer because he doesn’t like the body he got, so Surfer turns him into a stone gargoyle. Let that be a lesson about ingratitude.
Somehow, he stopped being a gargoyle and fought various people until he was defeated by the Fantastic Four and the Sphinx and wound up a disembodied intelligence in a Russian computer system. And here we are!
Quasimodo begs Vision to help him escape this digital hellhole but Vision just turns and leaves because he doesn’t have time for these shenanigans. And also because he knows Quasimodo is a villain who tends to turn on the people who help him so fuck that.
Quasimodo: “You know of my past - of my power - and you still would dare deny me?! There can be but one name for such as you... and that is fool!”
He then hauls off and punches Vision. Because they’re both digital intelligences on the internet they can punch each other and have a fight scene. That’s how internet works.
That’s why Mega Man X can beat up so many people in cyberspace.
Quasimodo says if Vision doesn’t help him get back to the physical world, he’ll destroy him.
Vision: “Now, listen to me... I am consolidating all computers worldwide. I gave up my own physical body to do this, and I’ll not tolerate any interference from the likes of you!”
Quasimodo: “You willingly abandoned your body?! You’re not a fool... you’re mad!”
Faced with an irreconcilable set of priorities, Quasimodo trips them both into “the irresistible currents of the IMPULSE VORTEX!”
Sure. That sounds like how internet works.
Meanwhile, over at Pluto is very far away, Monica Marvel nyooms past the moons of Uranus. Apparently her visual acuity is REALLY good because she takes in the scenery while she’s nyooming and finds it frighteningly beautiful out in the outer planets.
Anyway, Vision scolds Quasimodo for plunging them into a torrent. Which makes me laugh. Surely its too soon for torrents to be a thing. He’s just using it in a metaphorical sense.
Quasimodo tries to shoot EYE BEAM at Vision, which misses the digital synthezoid but obliterates an electron.
In a cutaway that would be at home in a Marvel movie, the scene briefly shifts to a Soviet computing center and a guy named Alexey complaining that his program just crashed.
Quasimodo does Vision some punches but Vision decides to start trying since Quasimodo’s attacks risk alerting people that something is amiss on the internet. And Vision’s powers work just as well on the internet as Quasimodo’s do. In fact, screw that, they work better! Vision just gets more and more powerful the longer he spends on the internet!
Tumblr media
Vision: “You might have slain me earlier, but now this world is mine -- and there is no place in it for you!!”
And at Vision’s command the internet launches Quasimodo from Earth itself.
The internet can do that.
Meanwhile, back at Avenger’s Mansion, Dane Whitman determines that the tube he’s a tube boy in may look like glass but its as strong as steel. He’s not punching his way out of here.
But his recently uncursed cursed sword (the curse never stays not cursed for long so I hope Dane enjoys having a notcursed but very enchanted sword) is just a few feet away with the rest of his luggage. And there’s a mystic bond between himself and the sword so if he just thinks about the sword hard enough, surely it’ll manifest in his hand.
Like the Force but slightly more convenient.
Dane Whitman: Nothing’s happening. Must not... be concentrating hard enough! Maybe the link was broken with the curse. No... no, I mustn’t even think that! I need my sword! I must have my sword! I must!
Tumblr media
He do it!
The Notcursed Ebony Sword appears in his hand and he slices through that steel glass like its just glass.
Meanwhile, over at Arizona, the Avengers finish up nullifying the Blood Brothers and putting them in suspended animation, or if you prefer, naptime timeout.
Captain America receives a buzz from Hawkeye who wonders what he’s doing within hailing range, ie in the western half of the US.
Captain America: “Arizona... government business... And I’m as surprised to hear you, as you are me! I take it that your team finished its mission in the Pacific early!”
Hawkeye: “Mission? What are you talking about, Cap? We haven’t been on any mission!”
Which is a dun dun dun considering their whole reason for being sent on this mission was that the West Coast Avengers were ostensibly busy.
And Vision lying about that raises a whole lot of questions for the Avengers.
Cap and Wanda Witch rush over to the Quinjet and contact the Mansion.
Vision: “Then you’re aware of my deception. I... am sorry, Cap. I didn’t want to mislead you, but I felt it necessary to carry out my plan.”
Scarlet Witch: “Plan? Vision, what do you mean? What have you done?”
Vision: “I... well, there is no easy way to put this... But I have taken over the world.”
Tumblr media
You never want to hear “I have taken over the world” from a friend, unless its followed with “and I want to get you in on the ground floor of this exciting new opportunity.”
Vision promises the two that he’s taking over all of Earth’s computers for a really good reason like ending war and strife. And signs off by telling Wanda everything will be alright and that he loves her.
Aww?
Cap: “He meant it... he meant every word.”
Scarlet Witch: “He’d been upset lately, but I never thought... Cap, we have to stop him!”
Cap: “Yes. If there’s still time!”
DUN DUN DUN!
