10 years ago, I drew Alan Wake! I have grown so much as an artist, and if I had one thing to say to the aspiring artist, it is this, keep going. You're GOING to have bad days, but you will also have days where you are so proud of your work. Ignore social media. It's just a distraction that sometimes boosts the ego. I'm NOT saying, don't post! When it comes to posting on social media, I post so that one day, I can see my progress.

I went from an inexperienced artist to somewhat professional in 10 years. I'm still working on growing, hence the reason why I'm doing 52 weeks of Good Omens fan art. Choose something you love and challenge yourself frequently. That's how you grow as an artist.

I'm self-taught. I started learning art late in life, and since then, I've been trying to find my groove. Two kiddos later, I realized that the message I want to pass on to them is that you're never too old to chase your dream. I'm still trying to figure my dream out. Where do I go after 10 years of learning?

Well, I hope to write my own stories and illustrate them. As a volunteer librarian, I see so many books with beautiful art. I think my future lies somewhere in that direction. Maybe I'll create cover art. Maybe I'll create a graphic novel, or maybe I'll try storyboarding for TV shows and movies. I have so many avenues of life to explore. I'm excited and scared at the same time, but if your dream doesn't scare you, then is it worth it to pursue?

Anyway, I'm starting to ramble on. Don't give up because you didn't do well today. Keep going because tomorrow you might impress yourself. 😉

To all my creatives out there; you’re not a flop because your artwork didn’t get 100 likes, or because your video didn’t hit the 1k view mark, or you lost a few followers. You didn’t get ‘worse’ and people don’t suddenly hate what you’re putting out there. Sometimes you just get less engagement, but it’s not because you’re making ‘bad’ art!

Keep creating and making things YOU enjoy! You have to be your own biggest fan!

people who put you down, they don’t have much going on. It’s easier to be all talk than action, easier to assume than to try and fail. They don’t have the courage to. You, on the other hand, might fail constantly, but by trying you are already doing something for yourself, and you will yourself benefit from it. Don’t be disheartened by the failures, for you learn something from each one. Keep going for what you believe in, because it makes you happy!

I know I’ve literally posted these wips before — I haven’t had time to work on this painting the past few weeks — but I was thinking about the process of rendering and how arduous it feels as it takes me many, many hours but how ultimately rewarding it is to step back and see how it’s transformed

It’s important when you’re feeling shitty about yourself and your creative endeavors to praise yourself about how far you’ve come and to try to find joy in the process. I’m trying to focus on that as opposed to fulfillment and the final product.

So this piece has taught me a ton about rendering faces and hands and has also been a great exercise in simplifying shapes via only dark and light

I just need to say this rq: people are freaking out about ai like it’s all we’re going to be consuming in the future, but as long as there’s people who want to make art and storys that’s just not going to happen. Ai should be used to inspire human creativity not replace it. So this is your friendly reminder to commission some small artists if you can afford it in these trying times, and I don’t encourage bullying often, but if you see anyone who makes some ai images and calling it their art, then I highly encourage you to bully them of the face of the internet. So basically this is a very elaborate way of saying: fuck the government, fuck people who want to replace artists with ai, and your not going to be irrelevant in the future as long as you fight in for what is right in this shitty era of humanity. When did you feel like you finally got good with your art.

(Before I answer ur question, I just want to say I absolutely love the drawing!! Great anatomy and Armor! Super fun! ^w^)

When did I feel like I finally 'got good' with my art? Well...that's a bit tricky! For a long time, I had always thought my art was really good! I was quite egotistical about it, but I wouldn't say this was bad. I put a lot of love into my doodles and, as a teen, I think I needed that to keep me drawing even in the face of other (much more experienced) artists. And now, after a while of posting on social media (and having grown older), I've realized how much I've improved! I fell in love with my art again and even though my self-doubt dampers my own accomplishments a lot, I still draw and take pleasure in my art when I can.

So to answer the question, I really think I've had multiple moments in my life where I recognized myself as a "good artist", because I was proud of what I could and can do. (Even if it was as simple as drawing a little stick figure haha)

Seeing all the amazing artists out here I have to remind myself that the journey is different for everyone. We all advance at our own pace. So remember, don't compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to your past self. Dig out an old sketch book or computer file and see how far you've come! And the more you hate it, and cringe, and gag, the better and farther you have gotten!

Follow your heart always..your art being appreciated is wonderful and its natural to desire that, but you should always prioritize your own tastes when possible.. lest we become too dependent on drawing FOR socialmedia

Hey there!!! Sorry for the late response, you sent this around the time I posted my Interest Poll and I'm just now getting around to answering!!!

Firstly, this is incredibly sweet, and REALLY good advice. If any artists who follow me or who see this struggle with drawing for themself vs. making the content you think people want to see, I really cant stress enough how true this is. Please draw for yourself, and make the content YOU want to see in the world!

I personally, I draw for myself all the time. I would say that I post maybe 5% of what I draw, if that (part of the contributor to my sparce posting schedule lol)! Part of it is because I draw for a LOT for fandoms I've never even mentioned on this blog, part is because my content can be dark/self indulgent/Silly-goofy-partially finished doodles.

I draw first and for-most for myself, which is why I like doing interest checks! While I DO draw for myself, I also really like sharing my art and helping to contribute in my own little ways to the fandoms I love. Since I fandom hop so frequently, I still have GREAT interest in all the fandoms I listed, and still love making art for them, so it's nice to check in and see what the people who've been kind enough to follow me along this journey want to see!

I like making art for all of you, and while I hold my own mental health in priority, this blog has not put my mental health in any risk. This is thanks in no small part to incredibly sweet people like you<3
