Almost 10 years later and we still FEASTIN.

I remember when this page dropped on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, and Blackenloin/Goldenheart/Goldheart/w/e shippers all collectively lost our minds. Yes, Ballister and Ambrosius are very shippable from the get-go (their hand placement on p.13, Ambrosius on p.21 to Ballister "Are you trying to make me jealous" and his otherwise flirty dialogue, Ambrosius holding Ballister's hand at the bar on p.102, plus little hints and things by Nate on Nate's tumblr), but p.126 was an outright confirmation that it wasn't just angsty and close platonic stuff (with very clingy Ambrosius) that's fun to ship but not exactly canon in the text itself (like you can read it as "oh these two had something" from the get-go but it's not exactly explicit up until this point, and it's a different experience reading the completed comic all in one go versus reading it page by page over the course of a couple years as pages release). The Director's wording, Ambrosius' little blush. Ahh, these beans.

You know something Sonamy fans? I’m beginning to gain a liking towards the, “If Sonic and Amy became an official couple, they would date in private, but act like best friends in public,” head-canon. Because I think it’s most inline with how their dynamic works in general that’s been talked about. I dub it “platonic romance/friends with crushes on each other,” to keep things balanced.

Side note: I don’t think all of this stuff is happening by coincidence. It doesn’t prove nor confirm anything, but it’s funny these hints are in Black Night (a confirmed date), official artwork, and the recent IDW issue. Along with the other stuff which was also talked about a bunch.

These existing at all is an ongoing shock-fest for me. Due to the fact Amy and Sonic has known each other for a long time and most of their years together they barely ever hung out alone or in general before. (Not counting Black Night) But at the same time I’m not too surprised because the Amy Rose love is more common from the franchise and fans alike nowadays. There’s more and better material to work with.

My point is whether this is building up to something BIGGER or these are fun little details/hints we’re just putting together in a cute chart board, I want this franchise to KEEP IT GOING.

A Second Chance: The Steve/Tony Endgame Prompt Fest

Whether you took part in the exchange and miss SteveTony already or missed out last time and wish you joined in, this prompt fest is a second chance <3

The prompt fest will run from July 7 to December 31, 2023. There are no minimum work requirements, and sign-ups are not required: you can submit prompts and fill prompts as you please! 😊

Here’s how it works:

To submit a prompt, send it through our prompt form and it’ll appear in the Prompt Collection sheet for others to see (the form and sheet will be opened on July 7). You can only submit one prompt each time, but you can submit as many forms as your heart desires. If you aren’t sure what your prompt should look like, take a look at the sheet for examples or ask us for help!

To fill a prompt, just post it to the AO3 collection when it’s complete! There is no formal claiming process; just make sure to include the prompt number and/or quote the prompt you filled in your author’s note or summary.

Both the prompt form and the AO3 collection will be open for the entire duration of the event (July 7 to December 31). During this time, you can send in prompts, view prompts in the Prompt Collection, and post fills to the AO3 collection.

Claiming: 03/11 to 03/22 - Writers will be able to peruse our prompt archive and claim one for themselves through a form starting March 11th. Not all of us can be a worldwide famous athlete while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and running an Exy team like the navy.

Okay, I have a controversial opinion.

Blackinnon makes no sense. Jily? Adore them. Remadora? Sure.

Blackinnon? It makes no sense at all. And the fact that it's shipped mostly by people who seem to love canon confuses me even more. Marlene McKinnon is just a name? How the heck is she someone people care about shipping with Sirius so deeply? And if Sirius was in a relationship with her, Lily is an awful friend for writing him that letter after Harry's birthday and referring to the death of his girlfriend and her whole family "the death of the McKinnons", no?

Is it just because y'all hate Wolfstar so much?

I ask with much love. I'm off to ship and let ship either way! 😁

It was bigger back in the day. What is nice about Blackinnon is that Marlene is kind of an OC. You know she had to matter to the Order because her whole family were killed. On FFN there are almost 700 Blackinnon pairing stories. On AO3 when you sort otp:true the number is just above 200. It was more popular in earlier days of fandom. It is more that we do not know a lot about Marlene but we know a lot about Lupin. Sirius would not put up with Lupin's nonsense and self-loathing. Marlene took hold as an idea, possibility, because she is mentioned in film and books. I like Blackinnon but it is not my favourite for Sirius. My favourite for him is Sirius/therapy or Prongsfoot platonic or romantic.

The letter you mention.

Wormy was here last weekend, I thought he seemed down, but that was probably the news about the McKinnons; I cried all evening when I heard.

I do not know if this makes Lily a bad friend for wording it this way. Maybe. It is a ship that makes more sense to me than Wolfstar. Sirius would not bother with Lupin's self-loathing. He does not have the patience.

Blackinnon is not canon and that is OK. But it is more canon compliant to me than Wolfstar because of who Sirius is. It is the same with romantic Prongsfoot. Not canon but makes more sense.

One more tiny bit. Blackinnon has gotten a lot of hate in the past few years. Last year the Blackinnon Fest got hate and other nasty things at them. The ship is almost gone because of writers getting harassed mostly by Wolfstar stans. That is not OK.

Theme Astrofest Round 3

Guess who's back, back again?! For the third round of this mystical and wonderful fest we wanted to change it up a little. Like every year, the theme changes, but this year we wanted to ask the people what they wanted (also helps that we have polls now).

We have 3 options for this year's theme.

Minor Arcana. To switch it up, we could do a tarot centred theme like round 1, but with the minor Arcana. This could be just the cards that are linked to specific signs/events or all minor cards (56).

The 12 houses + placements in a birth chart. For an astrology centred theme again, we can do three random prompts so you have the house number, and two signs/planet. You could get 4th house + moon + libra, where you can have your libra moon in the 4th house and write a story about this placement.

Synastry in the 1d boys' charts. Another astrology theme, but more realism focused (but doesn't have to be canon fics). You would sign up with the pairing of your choice (romantic or platonic) and the hosts with pick a random synastry placement for you to write about. (person a' placement in person b' house and what that overlap means).

Don't feel bad if your theme of choice isn't chosen, we like all three, so in future rounds they will be picked. If you want further explanation on the themes, message @larrysballetslippers

i think why i love and will never let tododeku die (in my eyes) is because i feel like that relationship is so balanced. both characters have experienced trauma, both need understanding partners. both need to examine their feelings and get in touch with their feminine sides. we see izuku does that for shoto at the sports fest. i think shoto could do the same for izuku (canonically or only in headcanon, it doesn't matter, the personality traits are there).

i know if izuku is allowed to be queer in canon, he'll most likely be paired with katsuki based on what's happening in the story atm. but, while i love what's happening with those two in terms of katsuki apologizing and them reconciling their relationship, it still feels a little off romantically. it feels more platonic (to me at least). but that does not mean it's any less important than a romantic relationship. i think platonic bakudeku is super necessary for both characters. they need each other.

but romantically, i just see tododeku making more sense.

(this is from a relationship anarchy perspective. i understand society views romantic/sexual relationships as the pinnacle of life, but i disagree. i think certain platonic/queerplatonic relationships can be as much/more important than romantic/sexual relationships. so that's what i mean when i say platonic bakudeku is important.)

Well, I'm finally feeling better after really bad time and work on my vegas fic(really really slow, but it's it progress!), but I'm really temptated by:

1. Buck sold his soul (or better say life). I think I'm going to participate in angst autumn fest so I almost done with planning plot. It's going to be so long and heavy angst if I will succeed (🤞). I for know call it "I'm prepared to sacrifice my life(I would gladly do it twice"). Eddie is dead, Buck in pain, Universe is tired and making appearance. It tells Buck it can save Eddie , but Buck will die year after if Eddie wouldn't say "I love you". It's going to be big 5s and 6s till 6x12 rewrite of canon situations. Both Buck and Eddie would have to deal with a lot of things and ofc death of each other. (Please send me all the love, patience, confidence, tea and cookies you can🥺)

2. After 6s fic (for now I call it "I want to love you(I'm not sure I can believe it cause my demons louder than you")) lines I posted for no context. I did some more lines and thought more about plot, but it's too much work and I try to leave it after I will finally end vegas: now I can say it's going to be angst too, cause Eddie would say no to Buck, Buck would be sad and try to get over him, Eddie thinks he's not enough for Buck's real love, some little Buck whump. So angst, insecurities, misunderstanding.

3. Buck spoils Chris and platonic "I love you". Both 5+1 are with planned plot so I just need to write them and it's not leaving my brain

4. Presumed dead Buck. Yes, I'm sad and maybe a little bit evil, but tell me you don't love angst, I dare you. 0 plot for now, just idea about this angst (need Eddie in tears sorry)

5. Villain Eddie, hero Buck. 0 plot just vibe in my head

HP Rec Fest, Day 8

Today’s prompt for @hprecfest was also a bit of a challenge on the Drarry side. I guess canon rewrites are the most popular type of “canon divergence”, as in Hogwarts fics retelling the books with the boys being sorted into different Houses or becoming friends early on. I don’t read those often so I thought why not go for a Voldemort Wins AU instead? I’m very much intrigued by this trope and would love to read more of it. I was tempted to scream once again about Frayach’s brilliant The Good Guys but I’ve already recced it in the past so here are two hidden gems that could use more love!

Day 8) A canon-divergence fic:

Drarry

We Are Legend by @vaysh11 (E, 38k)

Eighty years into the future, Voldemort won. Harry Potter is a renegade wizard, Portkeying Muggles out of London to Hogwarts, last sanctuary in a Britain ruled by the Dark Lord. On a mission he encounters a powerful phoenix Animagus fighting on the Death Eaters' side. He recognises Draco Malfoy whom he thought long dead. But the differences between them are perhaps even greater than before.

I found this gem thanks to @romaine2424 who insisted I should take a look and she was so so right because this fic is unlike anything I’ve read before. I’m beyond impressed by the vivid, grim dystopian world building combining moments of tension and loneliness. Draco’s character and fate are devastating but despite all the grief and heartbreak this fic is still tender and moving, so full of yearning and hope. This is one of those stories that catch you off guard as you go on but feels fresh and creative every time you revisit, something about pre-2010 works just hits differently!

Sirius makes a promise to Harry during the war. Three years later, he keeps his word.

As soon as I saw the prompt I knew I’d go for this fic. Whether in a romantic or platonic relationship, Harry & Sirius hit a particularly bittersweet spot for me because I so wanted them to have had more time with each other. I love to bury myself in canon divergence but while most of them are angsty and tense or just downright smutty, this shortfic became one of my fave comfort reads. Their dynamic is soft and healing, full of tender intimacy and sweet domestic bliss. Like the Drarry fic I mentioned above, this has a very sensitive combination of grief and hope and patient longing that makes their reunion so emotionally satisfying.

Rules and Guidelines:

General

1. THE SANTALORIAN WINTER FEST is a Secret Santa kind of event focusing on The Mandalorian tv series, especially on the main character, Din Djarin.

2. All participants must register via the sign-up form providing their preferred contact information, age, acknowledgement of reading and understanding the rules, gift requests and offers.

3. Participants must be at least 16 years old to sign up, and only those 18 years old or older may submit Mature- or Explicit-rated artwork or writing. If a participant is found not to be honest about their age, they will be disqualified and banned from possible future events.

4. It is possible to sign up both as an author and an artist.

5. Participants are expected to read and adhere to the rules of the event. If you need clarification about any of them, it is your responsibility to ask the mod for clarification.

6. All writing and art for this event must be your own, previously unpublished, and inspired by your given assignment.

7. This event is being promoted/hosted on Tumblr; however, it is not mandatory for participants to have a Tumblr account. Works can be posted on Tumblr, AO3, Dreamwidth, etc.

8. To ensure the anonymity of the gifts, participants are prohibited from sharing any details of what they’re working on prior the posting period.

Ships/Characters

9. This is an open-to-all-ships-and-characters event with only one rule: works are expected to center around the main character, The Mandalorian (Din Djarin).

10. Works do not have to be strictly canon in nature, but should still have some element related to canon universe, characters.

11. Creating in an Alternate Universe is allowed if it is mentioned by the giftee in their request.

12. Any ship (except underage) is allowed at this event.

13. If you don't feel like working with any kind of ship, be it romantic/platonic relationship or friendship, you can just take a dive into Din Djarin's head and create something frome there.

14. Bashing or shaming any actors, characters, ships, kinks, tropes or stylistic preferences will not be tolerated.

Communication

15. Check-ins are mandatory, and participants who fail to check in will be dropped from the event.

16. If a participant misses a check-in, the mod will make one attempt to reach out. If no response is forthcoming in the next 48 hours, the participant will be dropped from the event and a pinch-hitter found if necessary.

17. If a participant needs to drop out or they are having trouble working on their assignment, they have to contact the mod as soon as possible.

18. If a participant does not submit their gift by the deadline date and fail to contact the mod, they will not be eligible to participate in possible future events.

Author Requirements

19. Authors will create one complete story inspired by one of their giftee’s requests.

20. The story must be at least 2,000 words in length. There is no maximum length.

21. The story must have all the appropriate warnings and ratings.

22. The story must be at least minimally beta-read for spelling and grammar before posting.

23. Any character depicted in a mature or explicit sexual situation should be 18 years or older.

Artist Requirements

24. Artist will create an artwork inspired by one of their giftee’s requests.

25. Artists are required to complete one (1) piece of artwork.

26. Accepted art forms:

●  Digital art/drawing/painting

●  Traditional media artwork such as pencil, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, etc. Both 2D and 3D works are acceptable as long as they are clearly photographable or scanned to minimum image requirements.

●  Moodboards with min. 6 images

●  Gifsets with min. 6 images (made and edited by the artist)

●  Playlists with at least 12 songs.

●  Video submissions a minimum 60 seconds in length (Must include a disclaimer for any and all clips and music used.)

27. Other artwork guidelines/restrictions:

●  Images should be of a minimum 500px width, with no maximum size limit.

●  Any character depicted in a mature or explicit sexual situation should be 18 years or older.

●  NO AI-generated artwork will be allowed.

28. The art must have all the appropriate warnings and ratings.

29. Credit to any source material must be given.

How it works

30. You can sign up for the TSWF by filling out the sign-up form.

31. The information you give in your sign-up form will be the deciding factor in the gift you’re going to create and the gift you’re going to receive.

32. You have to request 3 different prompts. You can specify your favorite characters, ships, etc. and any characters or ships that you don’t want to be featured in your gift, or that you don’t want to include in the gift you make. You can also add the content you are comfortable creating (SFW and NSWF likes, favorite tropes, Do Not Wants). You can also give 5 additional tags that could help with the matching process.

33. After the sign-up closes, every participant will be matched with an other participant based on both what they are able to create, and what they are willing to create.

34. After all the participants have been matched, you will receive your assignment on November 2nd.

Posting

35. The gift posting will start on December 24th and ends on December 31st. The finished gift can be posted on Tumblr, AO3, Dreamwidth, etc. The participants will get more helpful details about posting in mid December.
