It's All About Sokka's Hair - Paintedbluerose - During the events of the Chase, Zuko sees Sokka with his hair down and just falls head over heels for him. (Mini scene of Ozai doing the same when he sees Hakoda with his hair down which has nothing to do with Zukka but I find it hilarous)
Hair About You - Paintedbluerose - Zuko never tells Sokka how much hair matters in Fire Nation culture so it's the five times Sokka basically plays with Zuko's hair and everyone around them assumes they're in a very committed relationship but Sokka is like "I'm just playing with my best friends hair."
The Hotman From Hot Topic - Sinkburrito - Zukka and Azutara. Cute misunderstanding because Sokka goes to Zuko and asks for Azula's number, for Katara (who has a major crush on Azula), but Zuko assumes he wants it himself and hilarity ensues.
The Firelord and His Ambassador are Fucking - ClarissaGeorge - Zukka with background Mailee - Another fic where Sokka is oblivious to what touching Zuko's hair means and Zuko decides not to tell him.
You Clutched My Brain and Eased My Ailing - GallifreyanFairytale - Sokka and Zuko pretend to be Aang's parents during the Headband and Zuko realizes how much he likes being Sokka's husband (even if it is fake)
Protect The Princess - Whysleepwhenship - Zukka, Azutara, Mailee. Azula, Zuko and Mai are assigned to a high school to protect Yue but have to act as normal students. While there, they quickly develop crushes on the first three students they meet: Katara, Sokka and Ty Lee.

23nb, looking for other 20+ writers interested in plotting a zukka chat from avatar the last airbender.
i, for whatever reason, have been shot straight back to my high school years and have been absolutely foaming at the mouth over zuko and sokka’s dynamic. in this i would prefer to play zuko, and i’m open to writing side characters because both of my main plot ideas are kind of gaang/extended character roster focused lol.
my first pitch is post-canon (maybe late-20s, early-30s) firelord zuko and water tribe ambassador sokka with a very domestic vibe. senseless pinning, proposals, or even having a little izumi. very soft plots, the kind that makes me want to slide down a wall crying. i just hate that we didn’t get to see Anything about sokka’s life after the end of the war, so i like to imagine he just existed in his sappiest form as zuko’s doting/doted husband.
the other plot i had in mind is a modern college au, most inspired by pencilscratchins’s skates and effect universe. more comedic sitcom energy to this one, more opportunity for outside character interactions. this has a more slow-burn element to it because there’s more leg work put into establishing sokka and zuko’s relationship, but there’s just a charm to figuring stuff out as young adults in the city.
as for the technical stuff, i’m a literate to novella writer depending on the partner and the situation. nsfw friendly, but i prefer that be a footnote rather than the objective if that makes sense? love love love plotting, so please be prepared to be chatty. i don’t like doing all the leg work when it comes to writing, so i ask that you be engaged with the plot. however, on that note, i’m not an activity stickler. irl stuff should always be your priority, just lmk in advance if you plan on being gone for a long stretch of time so i know you haven’t ghosted me. lastly, i almost exclusively write on discord. so if this has caught your interest, let me know by reacting to this post and i’ll reach out from there. lots of love. 💕

modern au where sokka and zuko meet bc they're both on the premed track and share a lot of the same classes - except they're really just classmates who can at most tell you where the other sits, their name, and.....that's about it
so when sokka gradually stops showing up to their labs, zuko notices but doesn't think much of it other than a fleeting thought that he must have changed his lab days. and when zuko doesn't show up for one of their finals, sokka just assumes he got accommodations to take it elsewhere
but then they don't see each other for another two semesters, when they end up in the same late-night pottery class (sokka signed up for fun, and zuko did bc ty lee made him). turns out, they both dropped premed that same semester, which......actually, is a great way to bond and get to know each other lol
(that, along with having to share the same potter's wheel for most of the semester, after zuko's assigned one broke and ty lee, for some reason, was so stingy with her own....)

It’s a stunning spring day of clear skies and rustling green leaves, and Zuko’s stuck in a library for it. From the page in front of him, Butler’s words rise up and swirl meaninglessly into the air, as they have been every few minutes for the last hour. Zuko sighs and slouches to the left to find the straw of his lukewarm, no-ice cold brew with his tongue, taking a sip even though his body stopped responding to caffeine a few days ago.
Finals week is as annoying to suffer through the seventh time as it was the first time.
There’s a thunk on the end of Zuko’s desk, and he startles, nearly smacking his coffee across his work.
“Do you rotate every couple hours to make sure you’re getting enough sunlight?” Sokka asks.
Zuko safely relocates his coffee and eyes the box that Sokka’s dropped onto his desk. “I’m not a houseplant.”
“Really? You should take advantage of having legs, then.”
Zuko snorts. He can tell Sokka’s also a bit fried by finals week—especially since this is his eighth and final one, coinciding with a research thesis—because his quips are’t nearly as witty as they can be. “What’s in the box?” he asks.
“See for yourself,” Sokka replies, popping open the top flaps.
Zuko rolls his chair closer to peek inside. Immediately, he recognizes the soft leather casing, but he still reaches in to lift an edge and confirm that what he already knows is there is actually there. And, yes, there’s the soft glint of metal that Zuko expected.
“Why did you bring these to the library?” Zuko asks.
They’re knives. Not just any knives, but Sokka’s kitchen knives, a finely crafted and extremely expensive full set meant for the head chef of a high-end restaurant, not a college student who mostly makes stir fry and curry. Zuko’s a little obsessed with Sokka’s knives, not only because they’re objectively far superior to Zuko’s cheap, off-brand shit from the corner store, but also because they have a great story: when Sokka’s grandmother left her shitty ex-husband, she also walked out the door with Pakku’s gorgeous knife set, which she passed down to Sokka the year he left for college. Sokka, of course, promptly named them The Stabby Girls.
Sokka grabs a chair from an unoccupied table and drags it over to the side of Zuko’s desk, long legs sprawling enough when he sits for his foot to knock against Zuko’s ankle. “Decided to start packing early, since I’m leaving right after commencement,” he says. “Also, I’m avoiding thesis edits.”
“Uh-huh.” Zuko’s glad the final draft of his thesis was due a month ago.
“And as much as I love The Stabby Girls, it doesn’t make much sense to take them roadtripping.”
He starts playing with the edge of one of Zuko’s notepads, an idle movement to match the unhurried way he’s working through his explanation. Zuko wonders why Sokka’s still been popping up in his day-to-day the last couple weeks. Sure, they’re good friends by this point, but there’s only finals week, and then Sokka’s going to graduate and leave for this “epic roadtrip of epic proportions.” After that, who knows where in the world he’ll land for grad school. If there’s such thing as an organic ending to a friendship—which Zuko absolutely believes exists, seeing as he’s never really stayed friends with someone after they’ve been absent from his immediate day-to-day for longer than a year—this ending is the perfect example.
“I thought about asking Katara to take them, but she once tried to put Mama Stabby in the dishwasher, so that’s a no,” Sokka continues. “And then I realized there’s only one person I really trust to take care of The Girls, and that’s you.”
Zuko blinks. “You don’t want The Stabby Girls?”
“I mean, I want them back. But it doesn’t make sense to leave them in my car when I’m backpacking.”
Which, yes, Zuko understands, but … “You’re leaving them with me?’
Sokka nods, looking at him easily while still messing around with the notepad, as if this is all just very normal. “Yeah,” he says. It sounds a little bit like Obviously. “I’m planning on seeing you again. I want you to be a part of my future.”
“Oh.”
At that, an amused smile curls Sokka’s lips. “Oh?” he echoes.
“No,” Zuko splutters, though he doesn’t know what he’s negating. “I just …”
He really doesn’t know how to put words to the tumble of emotions that’s suddenly roiling around his gut, but he thinks it has something to do with declaring permanence—no, not permanence. Constancy? Continuity? Some sense of promise applied to a future that seems anything but certain. Legible? Visible?
Zuko needs to give his brain a break. “Have you had lunch?”
He pulls the box with The Stabby Girls closer to him, and he must be imagining the different twitch in Sokka’s cheek. “Not yet,” he answers.
“Let’s grab some.” Zuko stands, shutting his laptop and tucking The Girls under an arm. “I don’t think we should keep a box of knives in the library for that long, either.”
Sokka nods, heaving to his feat. “We can drop off The Girls at yours and then swing by Sullivan for food?”
Sullivan Street is a bit further out than Zuko was thinking, but hell, apparently Sokka’s regularly thinking about them way further out than he is. “Sounds good,” Zuko says and falls into step with his friend, cradling the box of knives against his chest.

Gravity Falls, Zukka.
Okay, typing here just before I forget but uh, Gravity Falls, Zukka AU.
Zuko and Azula are given into custordy to their Uncle Iroh who lives in a teashop/mystery shack type deal. This is just all very rushed so I'll think about it later.
The thing that leads to their Uncle Iroh is that their mother dies when they were young, about nine/ten, so they are left completely alone with their father. Ozai is always going to be a piece of shit father, no matter where I put him so it goes the same as Zuko getting his scar, via boiling teapot or something else. Zuko ends up in hospital, Ozai ends up in prison and so forth. They spend a while in Foster Care until Iroh learns of what happened to them and picks them up, taking them home.
They are immediately distrustful of this mystery Uncle because Ozai and Ursa never really talked about him, so with the weird mysety shack it is super weird for them.
I have no idea whether Zuko should be Dipper and Azula, Mabel because it seems more like the obvious choice, as I believe wholeheartedly in Zuko being an avid believer in all the Myths and Legends and Supernatural, using those stories as Escapism from the abuse. But it could also be Dipper being Azula and Zuko being Mabel, because while I don't think Zuko is stupid, Azula uses her brain rather than her emotions. While Zuko relies more on his bleeding heart and never really thinks about things before he does them, so he could be more of a Mabel.
Wendy is Sokka, but they are the same age, not the whole sixteen-thirteen in the show, but, its Zuko for the crush, no matter whether its Mabel or Dippers roles he is in. They also do get together, because Iroh is their legal guardian and they don't really have to leave.
Sokka and Katara live with their grandmother, I don't know whether Kya will be alive in the AU, but if so, it will always involve Bato. If Kya is alive, Bato and Kya are married to Hakoda, but aren't married to each other because Bato is gay. Or if Kya isn't alive, then it will still be Bato/Hakoda. They are NOT in the Military. But they do work in the Ocean, either as a Marine Biologist/Manager or Ship Captain, so they aren't around a lot.
I haven't exactly figured this all out yet but Lu Ten is Uncle Ford, but moreso Son and Father rather than Brothers. Lu Ten and Iroh are close until Lu Ten goes to college, Iroh can be a little overbearing because he lost his wife during childbirth, so his son and his job has always been his whole life. They have an arguement and don't have that much contact with each other during their college years, he relocates to Gravity Falls to get away from Iroh, and everything follows the show.
Thats all I got so far, really. I don't know who should be Soos, but I was thinking Piandao, instead of the Father-Son its more so longtime friends since childhood. After Lu Ten goes through the portal, Iroh spirals into addiction and ends up relocating to Gravity Falls with his husband, Jeong Jeong, to help his long time friend.
Thats really how far I've gotten, but I think its good so far. I may add onto it later. I would love it if people are able to add onto it. 💞💞💞

Zukka Week 2021, Day Five: College AU // 5 + 1
“I was wondering why you didn’t assign your own article about Japanese kabuki motifs in adaptation works,” Nadiya says. “You’re considered the leading scholar on cross-cultural kabuki, aren’t you?”
It’s a bold question, and people sit up straighter at the sight of Zuko smiling. He’s only done that twice before this semester; one time was when he walked into class on the tail end of a phone call that, according to Isa Dangelo, ended with a ‘Love you.’ It ignited speculation about the person on the other end of the phone call for an month week.
“Someone else already made a similar argument to me,” Zuko says.
“Who?” Nadiya asks.
“My husband.”
There are multiple audible gasps, but before anyone can ask a follow-up of the professor who’s been scrupulously private thus far, he glances at the watch face on the inside of his wrist. “That’s time,” he says, and there’s no room for argument. “I’ll see you all on Wednesday.”

Modern AU Bakoda

Bato and Hakoda rarely travelled for work, with Kya the one taking fairly regular trips, mostly to Kyoshi Island, but sometimes further afield. Having Bato move in full-time made child-care much easier, although as Sokka and Katara got older and more independent that became less important. When Kya was away, as much as she missed everyone, she very much enjoyed her time alone. Despite her bubbly nature, she was an introvert at heart, and liked to sprawl out in bed without fear of kicking him or Hakoda. Both he and Hakoda were fully understanding, but for the two of them a lifetime of living in each other’s pockets was only exacerbated by spending so much time together. They still spent time apart of course – work and hobbies and a slightly differing circle of friends – but on the whole Bato would admit they were rather…clingy.
Bato is away and finds himself missing Hakoda more than he thought he would. An exploration of their life in a modern world, and a phone call that is a thinly veiled excuse to have Bato and Hakoda be both sickeningly sweet and call each other dickhead.
