I want to work on my health this semester, so I’ve started getting up at 9 every day except for tuesdays, when I get up at 7. to make getting up easier, I’ve taken to leaving one of my curtains open at night so there is natural light streaming in when I wake up.

I also finally bought this sustainable bamboo coffee cup which I had been eyeing for a while in the shop of the museum I work at and this really cute string of lights in silver feathers from the hema!

Intro to my studyblr:

✨ Hello all! So for my first post, I wanted to give an overview of my initial plan for this account, despite the fact that things may always change.

🌿 So... Why am I here?

I am a junior in high school and just started taking a handful of IB/AP classes on top of being a rather serious flutist. This year I have been really trying to dive in to my academics and absorb everything I can, as my goals for the future are becoming slightly more clear and I know that I will have to work hard to get where I want to be. As a person that has always struggled with procrastination and lack of motivation, I was very excited to find this community! This is such a great way to be positive about work and motivate each other... I think it is so amazing! I made this account to document my productive moments so hopefully I form a habit of doing something academically productive every day. Also, I want to converse and collaborate with people who share the same interests and such! You guys know how it goes.

🌿 What I plan on posting...

• Pictures of things I studied with a short sentence or a few, just like the average studyblr.

• Maybe some quotes or motivational texts? Just lots of positivity for y’all.

• Maybe even some posts about self-care because it is so important for everybody to remember, and quite frankly I am lacking in that department!

... so essentially I am going to attempt to document the good moments so I can start good habits and create something positive that I can look back on.

🌿 Future Major: Neuroscience (not sure if I want to do research and such or pre-med).

fave colours: hmmmm, mauve-ish taupe-ish pinkish shades and orange/yellow pastels. I go through phases of colors I’m obsessed with lol

lipstick or chapstick: This is probably the hardest question. I love lipstick but I cannot live without my lip balms. I’m a sucker for any lip products tbh.

three fave foods: pizza, biryani and mac n cheese

last movie i watched: It with my mom because she was scared to watch it alone lol

time: 10:05 am

how many blankets do you sleep in: only 1 (even when it’s boiling and even when it’s freezing...I do change between various thicknesses of the 1 blanket though). I move in my sleep a lot and having more than 1 blanket restricts my movement LOL and feels suffocating.

dream trip: any trip tbh. I have travelled a lot, but I really want to go to Indonesia, Morroco and India (again).

anything you want: A good MCAT score, not having an uncomfortable first time meeting with my new team and a shopping spree before school starts again.

I annotate my books and I don’t care which pseudo intellectual wants to yell at me for that. It took me growing up to be able to admit this without any guilt or shame. So what I want to tell you is: Annotate the fuck out of your books don’t feel guilty about it!

Why?

I mean you don’t quite need any reasons but I have still complied a few here. Let me know what you think and well, what your reading habits are!

hi! i’m nicole, a 22 year old senior year student in Miami, FL

about:

-born on January 1st, i’m a capricorn sun, gemini moon, and virgo rising. -i speak English, Spanish, and have been learning French since high school. -i love coffee and tea equally! -i’m a dog person, mostly because i’m allergic to cats :( -slytherin house, though i’ve been showing a lot of ravenclaw traits lately… -intj-a -i love reading fiction and YA, film and digital photography, playing my nintendo ds (mostly animal crossing), watching tv shows (the office, buffy, himym, dexter, friends, twin peaks), film and movies in general, crafting (sewing, bullet journaling, making zines, stickers, pins). i have a hard time trying to do everything always! -currently listening to lots of mitski, king princess, 90s girl punk, florence, lana.

my school:

-i attend Florida International University -i transferred from Miami Dade College, where I first did Architecture, then switched to Chemistry -now i am majoring in Geoscience, minoring in French Language, getting a certificate in Women and Gender Studies and hopefully will be able to take some theater classes as well -my plan is to graduate next Fall, 2019 and attend graduate school to work on my phD in Hydrogeology, concentrating on water management. -i wish I could study more subjects like more physics, english, art, etc. but my university restricts the amount of credits a student can take before charging double per credit :( (i think this is all of florida though)

why are you here? i have recently found the studyblr/bookblr/booktube community and absolutely fell in love! looking at everyone’s beautiful posts, seeing all the positivity in this community really inspires and motivates me to work hard and manage my time better to do all the things i wanna do so, i wanted to contribute as well even if my blog is not 100% studyblr as you will see, i’ll have a mix of posts that interest me! find a list of tags on my page

something challenging that you got/are getting over My dear friend will be moving soon and I will miss him more than anything!

describe your ideal day with your best friend Said dear friend and I had a probably ideal day a couple of months ago. We went to a concert at the National Cathedral and snuck around the upper floors. It was my first time visiting and was so beautiful that it took my breath away. Afterwards, we went to a Greek festival and danced and looked at plants and ate Greek donuts (which were SO delicious), then we went to a nice restaurant for a Mediterranean dinner and drank wine all night and had the best time. We missed the last train back (oops) and ended up at a bookstore, and we sat around perusing books and he bought me a really, really lovely one that I’m actually reading now. It was the ideal day!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the people who’ve supported me and cheered for me when I needed it the most, specifically @coloredstudy , @diaryofamathstudent and @lots-to-learn 💖

As I said, this isn’t the best time for me, but I’m willing to work harder and push myself a little more every day, while maintaining a healthy relationship with my mind and my body.

The thing is, we all have our hard times, when it feels like the world is ending and every attempts we make to feel better seems useless, but i’m telling you, it isn’t. Every little thing we do to get up and start again is useful and valid and important.

You can do this, and if you think you can’t do this alone, i’m sure we can do it together, as a community.

The amount of support and advice I’ve received these past few days was mindblowing and it shows that the studyblr community isn’t just gel pens and bullet journals and soft aesthetics (though they’re really pretty), it’s coming together when it’s difficult to focus and have productive days and be there for each other.

So thank you and remember: you’ll always find someone who’s willing to help you here 🌺
