I’ve been simping over your ‘human’ Nomicon design since it came out in Ninja-November. If you have any headcanons about them, would you please share?
ah, a fellow monster/eldritch horror enjoyer I see! thank you! <3 tbh that Nomicon design was like an one day revelation, because while I love all the human!Nomi designs I've seen over the years (and there are some banger ones, man), it hit me that we as a fandom really underutilize all the uncanny aspects Nomi possesses. So ye. I do have a couple hc.
Tumblr media
Nomicon is an entity that doesn't have its own face and voice.
Whenever Nomicon talks to Randy it uses proxies in form of art/images/drawings/scribbles/writings. It gives strangely non-verbal vibes for something so cryptically eloquent! And whenever it does use a voice, its voice of the First Ninja (or more accurately his VA xD) , its first owner/wielder. When it uses a face, its usually the static/unmoving marble-like faces of Art or silly pen scribbles - both of which hold that uncanny valley look of something that looks human but really isn't. Not to mention the fact that it once literally stole Randy's face/body to teach him a lesson.
Tumblr media
I like to think that Nomicon has a library of faces/visages/voices it can take on, but all of them are creepily unsettling because - what would a book know about how to be human? It's face moves wrong, the eyes are too wide open, its body is creepily still, the voice uses inflections like its copying someone else (and sometimes voice warbles and changes/overlaps with other voices because it has so many).
All of it gives these fae/cryptid vibes of creatures that steal voices/faces to trick people, but in this case Nomicon collects those faces/voices from its owners along with their memories (which is another messed up thing we collectively forget is very creepy lol).
Nomicon is an entity that doesn't have a body, and most importantly - hands.
The reason I gave Nomicon so many shadow hands is because, well, Nomicon is a book. Hands hold those books, so the hands are very important to Nomi. All those shadow hands? Are memories of all the hands that held it (mostly previous Ninjas, but also the Creep and some others). It remembers everyone who held it.
The fit- the hat and the cape are kind of obvious, it look like center of the cover and the cape looks like covers on either side with pages underneath. The weirdest addition I made - is the spaghetti noodle-doodle 'hair'.
It constantly fascinates me that Nomicon, besides the Greek Key/9 motif, has those sort of concentration circles that are also present during Mask/Suit transformation. It gave me thought of sort of weird halos i guess?? Which adds to creepy vibe, but in this case its biblically accurate angel / holy deity type of vibes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nomicon has very basic understanding of humanity.
For all the experiences/memories/personalities it was created from and it absorbed over the years, human things are a rather alien concept for the book. It's the reason Nomicon is so bad at its timing whenever it buzzes Randy. It just doesnt care that you are at school Randy, its trying to teach you how to be a better ninja!!! In some sense, it absorbed the most prevalent quality of First Ninja - the dedication to duty, the whole reason for its existence - to serve Ninjas to be the best they can. So, such human/mortal things as good grades/video games/a good nights sleep are very nebulous concepts to it.
Less of a hc but more of an observation/gripe but-
COME ON ITS NAME??? Ninjanomicon as in Ninjanecronomicon??? Because lets be honest its not just a book/guide for Ninjas its a book full of DEAD NINJAS??? LIKE??? In some sense all previous Ninjas, when they go through Ultimate Lesson, 'die' in the real world (because they are no longer Ninjas) and are preserved in Nomicon. And First is like deadass dead? (Plop plop too lol). So I feel like there should be more creepiness about that.
Anyway thats basically most of it, and sorry for silly doodles but i cant really draw creepy stuff xD

Some of the feminine spiritual apparitions in the folklore and legends of Latin America & the Caribbean
There are many types of female ghost. They are typically (but not always) dressed in a white or red dress or similar garment, reportedly seen in rural areas and associated with local legends of tragedy. Legends are found in many countries around the world. Common to many of these legends is an accidental death, murder, or suicide, and the theme of loss, betrayed by a husband or fiancé, and unrequited love. Many of these entities are also said to appear near water, like the Sirens of Greece or the washerwomen of the Celtic people.

The Man from a Different Universe
In the chronicles of unexplained mysteries, the story of the Taured Man stands out as a baffling and enigmatic tale that has puzzled minds for decades.
It all began in the mid-20th century when a well-dressed and confident Caucasian man arrived at Tokyo's Haneda Airport, eager to embark on his journey. However, it was at the airport's immigration desk that this ordinary-looking traveler would reveal an extraordinary claim that would forever shroud his identity in mystery. Upon being asked the routine question of his country of origin, the man, with unwavering conviction, declared that he hailed from a place called "Taured." To the bewilderment of the Japanese immigration authorities, there was no record of such a country. The traveler was asked to produce identification, and that's when the plot thickened. In his possession, the Taured Man held a plethora of official documents, each more puzzling than the last. A passport, driver's license, and a stack of business cards – all issued by the non-existent nation of Taured – were laid out before the astounded officials. The documents were meticulously crafted, bearing all the hallmarks of authenticity, complete with visas from multiple countries, hinting at a history of international travel. As if this weren't perplexing enough, there were other curious details that further fueled the mystery. The authorities, grappling with disbelief, questioned the man about his homeland. His unwavering response was that Taured had existed for a long time, situated in the border region between France and Spain. This contradiction, however, only deepened the enigma, as no such country appeared on any maps or records. It was as though the Taured Man was a visitor from an alternate dimension or an elaborate hoaxer.
The confusion escalated as the man was escorted to a hotel room, still under the vigilant gaze of Japanese immigration authorities. While they were determined to solve the riddle of his identity, they were left with more questions than answers. The next morning, an eerie and baffling development occurred – the Taured Man and all of his belongings, including the Taured documents, had vanished without a trace. There were no signs of forced entry or exit, leaving investigators and airport personnel dumbfounded. It was as if the enigmatic traveler had simply vanished into thin air.

Growing up as a creature
I really hope this doesn’t come off as a “I’m not like other girls” post. I love all women, except the ones that are mean. Like Margret Thatcher

The Dark Watchers from American Folklore.
The Dark Watchers are a group of mysterious dark human-like creatures who stand on the hills, ridges, and peaks of the Santa Lucia Mountains of California and Mount Mingus and Mount Graham of Arizona. They supposedly watch those who wander into the mountains and are not aggressive. They are most often spotted around twilight and are usually seen staring upwards toward the sky while standing atop the mountains. They seem to be some sort of spirits however their origins are currently unknown.
According to legend, no one has seen one up close and if someone were to approach them, they disappear.
While sometimes attributed to the Chumash people who historically inhabited the central and southern coastal regions of California, nothing analogous to the legend appears to exist in their mythology. When Spanish Settlers first moved into the area they were said to have witnessed the Dark Watchers whom they dubbed Los Vigilantes Oscuros.
The Dark Watchers are most famously given a brief mention in John Steinbeck's "Flight", included in the 1938 collection of his short stories The Long Valley. It is mentioned that " No one knew who the watchers were, nor where they lived, but it was better to ignore them and never to show interest in them".
According to newspaper archives in the mid-1960s, a Monterery Peninsula local and former high school principal went on a hiking trip in the Santa Lucias when he suddenly spotted a dark figure standing on a rock and surveying the area. When the principal called out to the other hikers, the creature vanished. More sightings continue to be made to this day.

The Haunting Hour Season 2 Is Here!
Please excuse that awful podcast posted yesterday, and here's why. #podcast #horror #creepypasta #urbanlegends #nosleep #thehauntinghourpodcast
If you were able to access my podcast yesterday, apologies for the HORRIBLE audio that was released. Rest assured, this is the second time that I put someone else in charge to properly edit and upload and it will NOT happen again. Not only was it horrible, it still contained some of the raw file that hadn’t even been edited. I was mortified when I heard it. So, know that if you were…

adding on to the idea that dal's room at buck's would become an urban legend, I think the same would happen for the park where bob was killed at. the swings go crazy every night just after 2 am......the fountain water supposedly turns to blood every year on the anniversary of bob's death.....parents tell their children to be home for curfew or else an old greaser ghost will get you...
#my paranoid crazy ass most definitely would do this shit#do you guys have any urban legends about your town? the high school here has an underground bunker that kids in the 70s would go down to#and do 'santanic rituals' which sounds like some satanic panic shit but it was real!#there was a book made about it....and then another book made about it...#one kid killed himself and his house burned down but a pic of him survived the fire#his friend was on Main Street and got hit in the head by a car and then another had the same thing happen in Vegas#they all had something happen to the left side of their face. like homeboy shot himself on the left side and they all got hit on the left#his grave at my city cemetery is destroyed :( which is so sad but so fucking creepy#so I'm terrified about this my whole life right? like I can't sleep bc he's gonna get me and then i read the book when I'm 19 and it was#the most edgelord ass shit I have ever read. shit pissed me off cuz everyone in town says how terrifying it is but it wasn't at all#anyway if you have read this far and want the book name it is written by the same author who wrote go ask Alice#the outsiders#the outsiders 1983#dallas winston#johnny cade#bob sheldon#ponyboy curtis#i just be saying shit#the outsiders headcanons#my headcanons#I guess another legend is how this kid got whacked by his mom in the 80s with a hammer and died but that was very much real and tragic#I just say it's a legend cuz I grew up near the house and had to walk past it every day from school!#my mom was across the street when it happened and she saw the body bag and then my aunt asked my grandparents if they were going to kill#her and her sisters! okay wait fjdjdjdj the mom also had a hit list which was full of people in the ward (church..Mormons live here)#I love that fact tbh like it's so fucking tragic but the fact she had beef with church people and wanted them dead.....Yeah

Fresno Nightcrawlers
The Fresno nightcrawler, also known as the Fresno alien, is a cryptid that has made two appearances so far, one in Fresno, California and the other in Yosemite National Park, also in California. In both sightings, it’s only seen in video footage. However, a man in Poland has also claimed to have seen the creature.
The creature has also been spotted in Yosemite where footage was again taken from what appears to be another security camera. This time there are two creatures, one being very small (less than .5 meters), and the feet of the creatures can be clearly seen. As well as what appears to be some sort of webbing connected from the knees to the upper body on at least.
The cryptid has also been videotaped in Poland, this time from what appears to be a handheld camera judging from the shakiness of the footage. The creature can not be seen for too long but appears to have similar traits to the larger one taped in Yosemite.

"The Banshee (Bean Sidhé)"
Tumblr media
The Banshee is a supernatural being that comes from the Irish folklore.
Some Irish believe that the souls of the deceased do not leave this world. Rather, they rove Earth in form of disembodied spirits. The Banshee is also believed to be a female spirit.
In Irish folklore, the Banshee plays the role of a predictor or an omen of death. It's blood-curdling howls and screech are said to convey the message that you or your loved ones don't have much time left.
According to some, hearing a Banshee's wail will instantaneously kill the listener or their loved ones. Some claim that it just conveys a message, but whoever it is for is destined to embrace death.
The Banshee has a significant cultural significance in Irish folklore, representing death and mourning. It has been passed down through generations and remains an important part of Irish mythology.
Both the fear of dying and the fear of being parted from your loved ones are very common. Thus, it is no surprise that "The Banshee" is considered as one of the most dreaded figures in Irish mythology.
