A Modern Genshin AU: Coffee Headcannons/Imagine with Genshin Men x GN reader {Part 1}

Starring:

The Trio: Diluc, Kaeya, Dainsleif

The "Latte" Duo: Ajax/Tartaglia and Thoma

Brief Honorable mentioning: Kamisato Ayato

Warnings: None. Unless you can't drink coffee, but that's ok, I made sure for the guys to cater to your tastes a bit for the non-coffee drinkers out here. I also can't have any caffeine either and can't even have tea in my Boba because it'll keep me up late at night. I do enjoy the smell and worked as a barista for a short while. :)

Anyhoo, I wrote this to celebrate the Autumn Season and to share good vibes with everyone (particularly to all those still in school no matter the level/field) as well as share my headcannons I have for some Genshin characters in Modern AU.

I promised a friend that I would publish some writing snippets for the Modern AU before their birthday, but I hope everyone can enjoy it as well. (Sorry, to my friend in advance if this seems familiar, some of it are expansions on things I've shared before ;;)

Headcannons on what these characters drink for their caffeine fix in this modern AU where most of the characters are studying in University and some of them chill together and hang out. :)

I encourage you to read all the parts because in this AU imagine post, the characters will interact with one another or one part relates to another.

The Trio: They're the first couple of characters I started these hcs for and they're all friends. Diluc and Kaeya share an apartment together, while Dainsleif crashes over once in awhile (poor guy doesn't like to be alone for too long :). They attend Teyvat's finest and elite University together as Master's students, but I won't talk too much of their studies this time.

Personally, I see Diluc as a cappuccino guy. He likes expresso, but feels that it lacks a little something when he's drinking it, so some foam is a nice accent for him when has his morning or afternoon coffee. While he doesn't really need expresso to keep him awake, a cup of freshly brewed coffee would do the trick for him, he just enjoys using the espresso machine and milk steamer because they're therapeutic for him. So, cappuccino it is. :) However, most of the time he'll be brewing his own fresh coffee because Kaeya and Dain are around, so he just fixes up coffee for everyone. Manually grinds his coffee beans into the perfect size for hand-dripped coffee because it’s all about that hand-drip action, also equally therapeutic for him to do. He orders expresso and coffee beans from various countries, but I have a feeling he lowkey has preference for ones that actually aren't from Mondstadt! Oohhhh, scandalous.

Diluc isn’t against local coffee shops or anything, but he tells you that he can fix you guys up with the best coffee around and his apartment was nearby campus. If you’re up for it, he’ll be delighted to have you over for coffee or even hot chocolate or tea (granted there isn’t a large selection of tea) if coffee isn’t your thing. He may or may not have to let Kaeya know in advance to clear out because depending on what kind of relationship you guys have. Kaeya has a tendency of embarrassing him in front of others... But if you’re already friends with Kaeya, then it’s all right.

Diluc doesn’t talk too much and if it’s your first time over he’ll be eagerly waiting to hear your opinion of the drink he made for you...though he might hide that eagerness. If it’s for whatever reason not to your taste, feel free to let him know, he’ll graciously offer to make another or even refine it to your tastes. “It’s not a bother at all. I want to make sure it’s to your liking,” he says while offering a warm soft smile. He did invite you over after all. You are most welcomed in his home. While his bro barges in suddenly with a quick quip, “are you winning son?👀” Earning him a pillow or apple thrown at him almost immediately like under a second because Diluc is so used to his shenanigans (and because it’s Diluc and he’s got really really good reflexes despite not having any real use for them in this AU). “Sorry, about that. I’ll have a talk with him later about that. Don’t pay him any attention.”

Diluc is a sweetheart. The best friend to sit there and hear you out and offer solid advice. He may not be able to tutor you depending on your major or your work, but he’ll do his best to offer whatever assistance he can. He’s a little jack of all trades and might know someone who can if he can’t do it himself. A great guy overall when you’re studying or doing an assignment because he’ll actually keep you focused and will know how to have a proper break that won’t make you feel like you’re procrastinating. “It’s all about planning how to use your time. Nothing too special, but I suppose there are times where you have to take a break whether or not you want to.” Trust him, he knows how to manage time. He’s earning a near double Master’s degree centered on combining international trade laws and business management.

Kaeya is an iced-americano chick all-the-way. Come on, you guys have to agree with me one this. It's written all over his personality and pose. My guy here always has in-hand his ice-americano from the local coffee shop. His go to drink even in winter, which Diluc judges him for: "hmph, as if water diluting expresso wasn't enough." Diluc swears off making any ice-americano at home and Kaeya is too lazy or finds it too bothersome to make anything but coffee maybe, but his coffee isn't that bad which Diluc explains its because he only selects the finest kinds to be imported, which Kaeya in return either eyerolls to or politely ignores while enjoying his cup of coffee.

Kaeya will definitely take you to his favorite spot around campus and probably swears by it. He’s the kind of guy that’s always down to have a coffee date or just to sit down to hear you rant. Let it out of your system, so to speak.

Let’s face it, we all know how smooth and soothing this man can be. He’s a pretty emphatic and sympathetic guy. He can understand the stress you’re going through and he’ll give you the right amount of encouragement and support. “You’ve made it this far and I’ve seen you’ve done it before, so what’s another hurdle?”

However, if you ever really start tearing up or breaking down in the coffee shop, you’ll put him at a real loss. He’s not really great with real emotional breakdowns, but he won’t ever leave you alone. He’ll stay quiet and offer you tissues and won’t say a word because he honestly wouldn’t know what’s the best to say for the situation, but he’ll wait for you to calm down. He’ll make sure no one looks at you strangely by simply glancing back at them with a cold look with his eyes.

He’ll offer to pay for your refill sometimes whenever you guys are at the café, “No, it’s all right I was just going to get a refill for myself too.”

Kaeya is definitely the type of guy who always has his laptop and smartphone with him. However, he might forget his charger once in awhile, but who would deny lending theirs to him. Come on....the man is gorgeous. People probably try to use the charger as an excuse just to get to talk to him again.

If you were stress for whatever reason, don’t worry, Kaeya is the kind of guy that has this chill aura/vibe that can help you destress and focus on your work. He doesn’t slack and has great track of consistency when it comes to his studies. He gets his work done with the time given and does his work over time. I like to think that his consistent nature towards achieving his goals can have a positive influence on those around him. That being said, I picture him as a classics literature major. (Man reads a whole lot on his free time in Genshin when he’s sober....)

If you guys are dating 👀, ohhh, “Kaeya is the best.”

He won’t stop giving you that look. That sly look of affection. That slight smugness he has when you’re around him. Yeah, because you chose to be around him and he doesn’t plan to let you look for another. “Stahp it.” “Why?” His smug look unchanging. “You look kind of full of it.” “Hmm, maybe I am, but I can’t help it when I’m with you.” With someone so fine, oh so fine, he sings to himself...

[In order for Kaeya enjoyers to not miss a nice tidbit, I suggest you read a bit towards the end of the Dainsleif part. 🤪]

Dainsleif, our solitary bachelor (with many woohoo partners than one could even count on all their fingers and toes ;), simply enjoys a cup of freshly brew coffee. He doesn't have a preference in terms of specific coffee beans (unlike Diluc here), but can certainly appreciate good coffee when he has some. For this he admits that the ones brew in Diluc and Kaeya's home to be some of the best he's had altogether. He also enjoys it black. Simple and no fuss.

He can brew his own coffee, but unlike Diluc again, he doesn’t go through the extra work of hand-dripping his coffee although he did invest in a nice coffee machine. At most he has a manual coffee bean grinder because sometimes the coffee he wants just doesn’t come pre-ground. Diluc once tried to make the case that freshly ground coffee beans add to the flavor but Dain just gave him an emotionless stare and Diluc left it at that and never brought it up again....

He and Kaeya like to meet up at the local coffee shop and chat outside of classes. Mostly it's just him listening to Kaeya's latest gossip, dating shenanigans, but he does occasionally join in on shitting on Diluc with his friend. As I do love to say, nothing to see here, just two confident Khaenrian Bi men talking sh*t about their closeted bi friend. That's kind of their dynamics.

Ok, Dainsleif’s reputation aside, he’s by far the most chill out of the trio. Zero drama and nothing you say seems to faze him, which is nice because you won’t be seen as crazy unless he says you are, in which that you would mean...you really are....

Now, Dain’s also the most introverted of the three. So, if he accepts your invitation OR INVITES YOU for coffee. Well, my friend, count your blessings and buy a lotto (if you’re legal), because the stars aligned and he said yes. He’s not the type to be interested in most, but if when he is, it’s a compliment. Something about you has piqued his intrigue or he deems you nice enough to hang around. It’s not to say he doesn’t have friends. Quite the contrary, he’s actually quite popular amongst the student body, but he likes to keep to himself and not involve himself too much.

He’s pretty nice and may offer to buy you a cup of coffee or whatever you prefer or pay for your refill. (What is with Khaenrian men paying for drinks? They out here ‘bout to steal every man’s, woman’s, and person’s heart. Please, I love to be treated to drinks.)

He may seem hard to talk to at first, but don’t worry, he doesn’t bite, at least not outside of the bedroom😏....but I’m getting ahead of myself here. He also prefers to listen, but the moments where he does speak are pretty amazing because prepare to be surprised by how chatty he can be, like full-on monologues, despite being such a quiet character. As a friend, he really let’s you share your most stressful and depressing thoughts without judgement because he can relate and you are valid, but sometimes he can be blunt in how he tells you certain things... Try not to take it to heart at first -- he’s trying...

Though I must caution you, if you don’t have the power to focus on your own work alone, being around him won’t help. I imagine most of us may be too distracted by the mere sight of him. That light blonde hair....those aqua starry eyes....sigh....he’s so beautiful. You’ll catch people turning to look at him periodically and this couldn’t be more true sitting in a café. Yes, people stare at Kaeya too, but with Dain, he just doesn’t acknowledge people’s existence. So, people ended up using that to their advantage and staring at him till they’ve had their fill, which means...they don’t stop staring as Dain works on his laptop (FYI cybersecurity engineer major 🤪). Another Khaenrian who never leaves his home without his laptop and smartphone except he never forgets his chargers, but he isn’t as easy to approach to ask to borrow his charger I’m afraid....TT TT

As a lover.....he probably doesn’t change how he acts in public with you. Although he might be that much more attentive and sweet. I dare not imagine it less I combust into dust (yes, not even ash)....

The most I’ve got is that he’ll take his chances to touch you. For instance, if you’re busy trying to find a napkin to wipe your mouth, he’ll do it for you with a napkin already in hand. Real attentively. Almost tenderly. Or were you imagining him personally licking it off for you? Mmn, naughty naughty. Please, that’s what Kaeya and Ajax would do if the two of you were sitting close enough because those two have no chill sometimes (a shame if anyone doesn’t read this whole post, they might end up missing this lil bit 🤪). Kaeya wouldn’t do it right away, I think he would pass you a napkin if you needed one, but if you made any suggestion about it, expect him to tease you about it. “What are you looking at me for? Did you need anything else from me? What? Lick? Ohhh, I see. All right, I’ll keep that in mind next time,” he’ll say and give you a cheery smile. On this topic, ok fine, Dain would lick it off with ease if y’all were secluded somehow. He just isn’t ecstatic about the whole world watching what you two are doing is all. By the way, all three of them wouldn’t just end it off there of course, a kiss would definitely follow by that point. (I salute you all for not just passing out at that point.)

Oh yeah, while he might not notice the looks from others, he’ll definitely catch you staring at him because he’ll develop a sixth sense when it’s in regards to you.😏 “Is there something wrong?” You shake your head. “Are you sure?” You nod. “Just let me know, ok?” “Yup.” After he is reassured, he’ll give you most adoring and sweet smile that could melt a glacier. Remember folks, channel that memory of Dain smiling to Halfdan. Yes, now you are Halfdan on the receiving end of that smile. Well, I don’t mean you are Halfdan, just... you get me, right? I could go on and on about Dainsleif, but that wouldn’t be fair to the other guys.

The "Latte" Duo: These two go to the university next to Teyvat's finest...it's more like another "sister" school that gets some funding and help from that Prestigious University -- think of it as charity almost. Their university has less majors taught and it’s more focused on making sure their students graduate with skills to help jump start their professional careers. It’s a lesser known institution, but the graduates manage to find jobs in their respective careers. Ajax/Tartaglia and Thoma are just undergrads there with Thoma being a year ahead of Ajax.

All right, as the name suggests....Ajax and Thoma are latte enthusiasts. Yes, they are your basic b*tches. Vanilla lattes at 3 PM? Yes. It’s pumpkin spice season? Yes, and they’ll order them without shame because why would you say no to something that taste that good? And limited edition frappe? Yes, yes, snap yes.

Ajax doesn’t really understand people who would shun others for liking “basic” things such as vanilla lattes because as far as he’s concerned, that’s more vanilla flavoring available to him. Black coffee be damned. He takes his coffee with milk and sugar, thank you very much. Milk tea with sugar is also fine.

Similar to Kaeya, he’s always down for coffee dates because he’s such a great friend and romantic partner. Whatever your relationship is with him, you’ll be treated right. He’s like a hypeman at times, always there to give you the push you need for self-esteem and encouragement. He believes that anything is possible if you work hard enough, well in the right way at least. He isn’t about to encourage you to do something even he knows is a bad idea (ESPECIALLY HIM).

He’s not too particular about where you guys get drinks because he’s pretty chill with going anywhere. He’s even down to buying a cup of joe from the local deli and sitting by the curb with you to enjoy it. He’s a real one. Definitely will offer to buy you coffee and you don’t even try. He’ll just pop in and order before you have the chance to stop him. If you try to pay him back, you might end up getting into a fist fight with him...please don’t... He won’t hurt you or anything, but still....don’t fight him. He might accidentally break your wrist by slapping it away, and one of you definitely has a delicate wrist so don’t try him... Because who wants to sit in the ER explaining to the nurse how your friend managed to “accidently” break your wrist just because you were trying to slip some cash into his pocket... Honestly, not a good look after the two of you were suppose to be on just a relaxing coffee date... But hey, he’ll be right there waiting with you in the ER and will help get you snacks from the vending machine. 👍 And please don’t try to slip him some change to pay him back again, YOU MIGHT JUST LOSE YOUR OTHER WRIST.

Going back to your regular broadcasting: You can share anything going on in your life to him and, like Dain, he won’t judge you, but unlike Dain, he knows how to talk to you. He doesn’t ever want you to bottle up what you’re feeling deep down. He knows that’s just going to eat you out from inside and that’s no bueno.

Studying and doing work around him will be pretty chill. He won’t be studying, or at least probably not as hard as you because he isn’t trying to ace every class he’s in. He’ll be that friend playing a game on his laptop while you’re studying. Or distract you for a second because he wants to show you dumb videos from his feed or cat videos. Oh, and every other text he’s had with his family and siblings. He will tell you nearly every single one. Yes, he absolutely is that friend, but he can resist distracting you if you tell him not to. He isn’t as hyperactive as the fandom makes him out to be. Too much and even he’ll feel overwhelmed by himself. He still has to graduate after all. :) Which major? Beats me. You’ll have to ask him yourself.

As a romantic partner, I just imagine you lose out on personal space. You’ll just somehow find him sitting right next to you all the time and he’ll prefer to sit on the same side as you instead of across from you. Doesn’t matter if you’re in a coffee shop, a part of him needs to be in constant contact with you. Heck, even if he’s sitting across from you, his foot needs to be touching yours. He does this mostly unconsciously, it’s not like he wants to be nuisance to you. He just feels comfortable right next to you and hopefully you’ll feel comfortable with him. He would love it if you lay your head on his shoulder or he does on yours.

Bottom line: Coffee time is chill time with him.

If you all are wondering....don’t worry, Thoma is already under employment by the Kamisatos as a housekeeper. Thoma didn’t want his parents to worry about his personal finances as he attended Uni, so by a stroke of luck he got employed by the Kamisatos. While being Ayato’s personal attendant, he learned to be a pro at brewing fresh hand-dripped coffee. His barista skills rival even Diluc’s and if the red head got to try it, even he would have to approve of Thoma’s skills.

Like Ajax, he also enjoys his coffee with milk and sugar, but sometimes he’ll opt for almond milk or soymilk. Thoma’s drink of choice is unabashedly a matcha latte. Boy, is he a matcha enthusiast. He even learned how to make it himself and will occasionally will make it at home. Probably the reason why he struggles with money sometimes is because he keeps buying quality teas and matcha to drink at home. That and whatever cooking utensil and kitchen appliances despite living in a small apartment. OTL

For those who don’t drink coffee, Thoma is the perfect friend and partner when it comes to coffee dates and afternoon tea. Sometimes you guys end up going to a coffee shop, but if it’s anything that’s not a coffee or with an expresso base, he’ll question why even bother paying for drinks outside when he can practically whip you any drink in the comfort of his home. Yes, you invited over to his apartment if you’re okay with that. It’s not big, but it’s tidy and cozy enough for 2 or 3 to study together, hang out, and play some video games. That third person most likely is Ajax because they hang out together so often and Ajax probably has crashed over numerous of times. I would have written that he has a cat at home, but I think he’ll have to resist it because he doesn’t want his cat to feel cramped up in such a small apartment. He probably feeds strays around his neighborhood though, so I guess it’s like having many animal companions to look after all in the end. Hehe.

Like the rest of the guys here, he definitely will listen to any concerns or just what’s going on in your life in general. He’s one of the best listeners in this post and can give you really good advice while helping you out. He’s still keeps his title as Thoma the “Fixer” and he isn’t about to lose it yet in this AU!

Another thing about him is, if for whatever reason you guys are meeting up outside or he’s going to meet up with you, expect him to call or text if you want him to buy anything to bring over cause he’s stopping by the local bakery. Sometimes, he’ll just show up with your favorite drink at your office, workplace, dorm, or class because he’s just that cool. (Aspire to find your own “Thoma” friend folks :)

As a romantic partner, hooo, well I think you’ve just won in life, but you have just gotten the achievement of finding one of the best partners out there. Forget coffee, his smile alone will be able to rejuvenate your energy. He’s like a warm morning sun or a glowing sunset. He’ll just have that kind of influence over you. Also, more tea time over at his place plus delicious treats! YUM!

Hello, thank you so much for reading up to this point. I'm happy to be finally be sharing some writing on Dainsleif, there's not a whole lot of imagines/writings for this man and I love him too much to not share some of my own. I promise I’ll be writing more for him and for all the other guys and hopefully some of the female genshin characters as well!

Shout out to my good friend, @thetimidtimetraveler for the tidbit about how Tartaglia would even help get you snacks from the vending machine as you wait in the ER, which led me to think about how you may lose your other wrist if you hadn’t learned from your lesson of what drove you to be there in the first place. He, of course, never meant to hurt you, he’s just really strong you know.

This is a comfort AU of mine while I was grueling and crying through my studies (and still crying through). So, I hope this has comforted some while they’re toiling through their studies or self-studies. :)

I'm considering of publishing writings on AO3, but I honestly don't have any plot this AU, just scenes that are pretty entertaining passages to read, but who knows. I've never published on that site....

a/n: I delayed this a bit cause I was busy but I'm back😌

Part 1

• they're both having tea and judging people

• idk why but I feel like dainsleif is a chrysanthemum typa guy

• if he's drinking coffee let it be known he likes dark coffee

• they're the power couple who's somehow not a couple

• they look so unapproachable but pls if you took a sit next to them they'll very much welcome you

• he may or may not think you're kinda cute and lumine leaves you his number

Diluc

• owner 2.0

• or like a share holder

• probably likes to make coffee, like he tries different combinations and come up with new recipes

• he's making coffee as a hobby, the aroma just makes him feel at peace

• he has his hair up in a high ponytail ❤️

• gets a bit irritated at the sight of Kaeya, they've got beef

• he has such a rbf but is literally so nice

• he always gives you extra cookies with your coffee, so much so that you start wondering if he does that with everyone

• he doesn't

Dottore

• he's a frequent customer but only stays for a few minutes

• he's so busy probably has a fully packed schedule

• is a highly skilled doctor but can be very experimental

• once, you actually see him sitting down having a cup of coffee, it's such a rare occasion that you find yourself taking a seat across him

• you guys talked a bit and you find him to be quite odd but nice

• he's already got a few experiments to try on you in mind

Gorou

• he probably visits quite often to order kokomi's fav drink

• it's always the same honey latte

• on a particular day when it was pouring, he ran into the shop for shelter

• and ofc it had to be packed, leaving him no choice but to share tables w someone

• he recognised you as a frequent customer and it gave him a sense of familiarity

• he sat next to you having coffee while waiting for the rain to pass

• he's a true gentleman, offering to walk you home when the rain isn't as heavy, holding the umbrella for both of you

• you may or may not invite him in for tea

Itto

• the group of people who's unnecessarily loud

• they're so SO loud, everyone in the cafe can hear them

• might be chased out at some point for noise pollution

• he sulks outside

• shinobu finds a way to get them back in

• and the vicious cycle begins

• he bumps into you once when he's being chased out again and invites you to join him

• ofc shinobu tells you to just ignore him

• you do follow them, cause yk, he's kinda cute so why not

• he makes it a thing to hangout w you at least once a week now

Kaeya

• he comes here often

• he's the one pretty and goodlooking guy who has a fashion sense

• he could be a model fr

• is on his phone or brought klee along

• if it's the first then he probably sits down across you to I initiate a convo after he notices you staring

• if it's the later it's definitely about Klee, whether she bumps into you while running around or knocks smt off your table, she's quick to apologize

• kaeya immediately rushes over to check on her and apologizes to you, inviting you for dinner as compensation

• he's honestly just using the chance to ask you out, an opportunist

Kazuha

• he's a performer at the cafe

• plays a flute and it's so calming

• is one of the attractions in the cafe no joke

• he's so elegant and polite

• I feel like he asks riddles at the end of his performances bc engagement

• or he recite poems

• he asked a particularly difficult riddle this time and you were able to answer it after seeing others struggle w it

• you gained his full attention, and after that he asked you out to coffee to talk about poems and japanese literature

Pantalone

• rich owner part 3

• he's there to work

• there's only work on his mind, all the income and profits and budgets of the company on his mind

• he barely notices how dark the sky had become until the crack of thunder hit his eardrums

• he left his umbrella in the car and couldn't rly get there without getting soaked in rain water

• and so he asked you, who very conveniently has an umbrella, if you could sell it to him

• you say no

• he bargains, like he'd raise the price as if he's in an auction like sir no we just appreciate not getting drowned in the rain

• with his persistence, you offer to lend him the umbrella, holding it for the both of you as you squeezed together to avoid getting wet

• it was such a miserable fail he just, offered to drive you home

• he leaves you his business card, saying that you could find him anytime you need help

Scaramouche

• a shareholder

• he's 100% a karen, I just know jt

• rude asf and expects the world to spin around him

• you accidentally bump into him once and he tsked at you like excuse me??

• you've hated him ever since and being frequent customers the both of you have a silent rivalry

• he wants to order the last cheesecake? Too bad, you're getting it first

• he's holding a file of documents? You 'accidentally' bump into him again and send the papers flying all over

• it's gotten to the point where the both of you know eachother's habits, likes and dislikes very well

• he came in once on Friday evening, the cafe wasn't crowded but his gloom filled the whole place

• he wasn't quite as sassy and snappy as usual, and you feel just a tad bit bad for him, just a little

• if you ask about his face, he'll just tell you to go away then break down

• he doesn't know why he feels safe enough to do so w you, but he does

• threatens you to keep your mouth shut right after and everything goes back to normal

Heizou

• he's an extrovert

• very sociable

• he walks around and talks to random people, you weren't spared

• he tells you that he's studying psychology, and is doing a social survey

• ofc you agree to participate and after a few questions, it just becomes a normal convo about random things

• he's so pleasant to talk to, is very good with his words

• you end up talking to him for hours on end and decide to meet again for another chat the next day

• you eventually become very close

Description: Are they a dog person or a cat person?

A/N: I love this idea honestly and I feel like some people have done this already but it's alright. I am a dog person btw (but I still like cats). Again this is my personal opinion :)

I feel like his personality is more like a dog than a cat. Plus he would probably take his dog along with him during adventures (I can sense jealous Paimon)

Albedo: Cats

I picture Albedo to like cats because they're initially calmer than dogs. He wouldn't mind if you got a dog though.

Al Haitham: Cats

Although he doesn't really like pets, he would probably get a cat. Mainly because they are less maintenance and need less attention. Plus dogs are too much for him :/

Ayato: Dogs

Probably got influenced by Thoma. He thinks dogs are a very loyal companion :)

Bennett: Dogs

Cats tend to stay away from him for some reason. He's also gotten scratched by cats all the time, especially when he goes to The Cat's Tail. Also would bring the dog with him to his adventures.

Capitano: Cats

I don't know why but I just feel like this dude loves cats. He thinks their cooler and stealthier.

His whole world flipped upside down, he started to seek you out and cuddle you no matter how hot or cold it was. He needed you to sleep soundly in his arms.

Diluc: Everyone knew Diluc was a lone wolf. Everyone but you of course, he actively seeks out your attention whenever he gets lonely. No one knows the side of Diluc you knew, often at the dawn winery you can hear Diluc calling out your name softly.

Ayato: Now Ayato may not get the time to come and cuddle you often. But when the time comes up he immediately takes that opportunity. Telling thoma to tell all staff members around the estate to not disturb him, he’ll then immediately seek you out and fall limp in your arms letting out a content sigh.

Xiao: Bro sleeps like a log obviously on the rare occasions he does actually sleep. It took him forever to finally fall asleep in your presence. Now it isnt the easiest to finally get him relax its a hard process but it’s definitely worth it. He’ll finally loosen up and hug you close as hes still trying to protect you in his slumber.

Childe: He’s has a strong grip on you I’m talking you can barely move an inch. Childe may not always be present by your side but when he is it’s always spent clinging to your side. He spoons you and it don’t matter to him if your the big or little spoon. Just as long as your touching him.

I've got some questions about your cyberpunk reader sagau idea like—

What exactly does Reader's body mods allow? Like, how do they enhance the body? Why abilities do they grant to reader? What limitations are there and do they limit Reader's in ways an organic body wouldn't

Before and during the hunt for Reader, how do they maintain their artificial components? Do any of them break beyond repair forcing reader to leave them behind?

Also the Reader having body mods for conquest is a great explanation for why it takes so fucking long for them to bleed. They're too fucking invincible to bleed unless they get done in real hard.

What do people like Dainsleif or Dottore's think of reader and their body mods? I mean the body mods were compared to Khaenri'ah's machinery and Dottore is Dottore.

Is anyone against hunting down Reader? If so, for what reasons?

These are some good questions but I haven't thought all of them through, but so far:

1. When writing the first idea, I imagined the reader being a bit like militech version of Adam Smasher, with bits of my own V from cyberpunk 2077 mixed in i.e. 60-70% of the body being converted to metal with only the head and chest organ area mostly fleshy. So the reader would be durable AF, capable of shrugging off a couple of blows from the archons assuming they didn't use elemental powers, incredible strength and speed, increased jump height and other combat mods like mantis blades or rocket launchers.

2. As for limitations; cyberpsychosis would be the main problem because of just how many mods they have. From a more physical side — blending in is damn near impossible, and all that cyberware is heavy, so it's going to be a challenge not waking up half of teyvat when going for a walk and swimming would also be difficult/our of the question as you'd just sink to the bottom.

Also, the electro element would be quite dangerous, as any attack would act like an EMP blast which could short-circuit important life-preserving systems.

2.5. currently I'm also headcannoning that the combat cybermods require A Lot of energy, and if you don't have that, the body will forcefully shut down for like 72h to generate energy, regardless of where you are...

3. I haven't thought about mods breaking, but I think the reader might be able to MacGyver old Khaenri'ahn tech to replace broken/lost pieces, though it wouldn't be a perfect match — like wearing boots two sizes too small. Before the hunt the reader really wouldn't need to do that, as their tech is durable as all hell and would have only needed cleaning once in a while.

4. Dottore, as a scholar, would be incredibly intrigued. He didn't believe in the divine, though he acknowledged their existence, but the reader would be something else... Like the pinnacle of human evolution, the seamless blending of flesh and steel would entrance him past the point of obsession. He may have enough self-control not to try and disassemble the reader, but be prepared for days worth of ceaseless questions, and his experiments would only grow more gruesome and brutal if you do not put a stop to it.

As for Dainslief... He would be conflicted. The reader's body would remind him too much of the horrors Khaenri'ah and it's leader inflicted on others, and of the war machines still wreaking havoc across Teyvat. But the reader bearing similarities to said machines, which once protected his home, protected him, would also make him feel...comfort? Idk how to describe it, but it's like the feeling of knowing someone is looking out for you, even when you have lost everything.

5. As for who's against the hunt; Barbados comes to mind because he too is an impostor and would be a hypocrite if he felt otherwise, though he keeps such thoughts to himself.

Nahida because she is connected to Teyvat so deeply that it's feelings would mingle with her own, and she couldn't shake the wrongness she feels when near the Impostor.

Alhaitham too, but his is more logical deduction; why would a creator try to fit into the standards made by their creations? It's utterly foolish to base their belief off an imagined appearance when it is your actions they should see.

Also the harbingers and the Tsaritsa, but those I'd say are pretty obvious as they seek to destroy Celestia, and a betrayed creator seems like the perfect rallying call.

Genshin Modern AU Headcannons: Texting Styles

Warning: There’s cursing (because someone was being rude and an ass to one of the characters OTL) and mentioning of 18+ things.

Characters: Diluc, Kaeya, Dainsleif, Ajax/Tartaglia All imagines are with a GN reader. 😘

(Note: I’m listing these headcannons under my Genshin modern AU, but these headcannons work as standalones regardless of my AU ideas.)

Diluc: He keeps things simple and to the essentials.

Proper Grammar.

Keeps autocorrect and autospelling, auto anything is kept enabled. If there's quality-of-life functions to be utilized, they will be used.

Will definitely unsend/delete messages if there are enough errors or just doesn't like it and then retypes and sends it again. Otherwise, he’ll follow up with text correction with an asterisk (though it's rarely seen unless it's a particular slang or name spelling).

Rarely uses "lol" in favor of "haha" OR even rarer, the laughing emoji when he’s actually laughing harder than usual.

He does use some some abbreviations and convenient shorthands that just help with cutting down on time spent typing.

On that note of emojis, Diluc uses emojis sparingly, but you'll see it more often if he feels that he’s close to you and will sound a little more casual.

He is most often using the normal smiley, 🙂.

Tends to keep his texts short and to the point, but once in awhile....you may see longer texts from him if he’s explaining something. Nothing outrageous because he gives rather clear instructions and cuts all the fluff. That’s typical of him.

While they are to the point, they aren’t curt or cold (unless your POV is kaeya....in which that case Diluc really becomes curt).

You’ll feel his emotions come through. His warmth will show up in his text when he’s concerned or his silent anger....when he’s angry....(I encourage all to evacuate the premise if you feel endangered in any way.)

How long does it take for him to reply: He’ll usually get back to you or he’ll give you a timeframe of when he’ll get back to you or answer your text/inquiry. He’s usually on top of his responses unless he’s super busy, in which he’ll apologize for the long wait and get right into responding.

He’lll try not to leave you on read, unless of course the aforementioned busy state he could be in considering his workload or assignments OR unless you’re Kaeya. Yeah, he can be cold to his bro. Just doesn’t have time for his shenanigans sometimes.

Sample of getting back to you about your proposal:

D: Just looked through it. I have made notes on the margins for suggestions. Of course, these are just suggestions. Feel free to ignore them if they’re irrelevant. D: All right, ttyl. Send me your revised proposal if you want me to look through it again. D: Just finishing up my own and submitting it before the end of the week.

Sample of him texting you if you two are dating:

D: Morning, y/n.🙂 D: Just wanted to text you that before you get out today. D: I’ll be honest. I couldn’t sleep last night. Probably just nerves. Kaeya would laugh at me if I told him, which is why I won’t. D: I can’t wait to see you in a bit. D: Please text me if anything comes up.

Yes, yes. He’s so sweet. Please let me have him. Also, he definitely debated which emoji to send in that second to last text. “Is another smiley emoji too eager? How about 🥰? No...no. That’s too much.” It reminded him too much of what Kaeya would do and he just mentally eyerolls or groans in response. The reminder causes him pain and makes him feel embarrassed. “Maybe I shouldn’t add an emoji at all? Ugh. There...I sent it.” By the way, he really wanted to send this emoji, 😌, because that’s how he felt, but didn’t. Although, he immediately starts second guessing himself and wishes he could retract it, but ultimately accepts it. He accepts his fate.

When the two of you start dating for longer, he won’t have to second guess himself anymore because you’ll know him so well. Be easy on him, he doesn’t have any dating experience, but boy does he try. He tries his best on top of Kaeya laughing at him at every turn.

As a side thing, Diluc would be real shy and quiet whenever you guys are talking on the phone because he feels like it’s surreal to hear your voice over the phone. He feels like phone calls are more intimate. Staying quiet is a good way for him to hide his nervousness from you.

Kaeya: He keeps things classy and relatively chill. 😉

Proper Grammar and stylistically due to his literature background.😏

Keeps auto-punctuation enabled, but has autocorrect/auto-spelling off because he knows how to spell (occasionally forgets the spelling of the flavorful and less used words), but also because he just likes to use slang and make sure his phone doesn’t autocorrect the names he types.😕

He’ll use abbreviations in texting like your lols and lmaos, ttyl, imo, and so on, Not the type to make up abbreviations of his own unless they’re inside jokes between you two.😀

Yes, he’ll use quotations as “air quotations” and expect to see italics for all things sussy.

If you haven’t caught on yet, yes, the smug emoji is representative of him 😏 and is seen in most of his texts because he knows the tea and wants to know other people’s tea.

You can kind of expect him to use all the emojis at his disposal except the really loud ones like: 🤬🥵😭🙀. Yeah sorry, he doesn’t do cat emojis...but he might make exception if the person he’s dating likes cats.🤭 Anything to please his partner or bring a smile to his friend’s face.

Definitely changes the hand emojis to match his skin tone. No doubt about that.💅

His text lines is variety just depending on what he’s talking about or replying, there’s no real limit, except I don’t think he would ever do those longgggggggg paragraph texts. Yeah, that’s not very classy to him.😕 If he needs to type that much, he might as well call them or meet up.

It might be hard to discern if Kaeya is being sarcastic or genuine sometimes because he always seems to be hiding behind his emojis. Sometimes he’ll use emojis deliberately to mask what he’s really feeling... 😟

How long does it take for him to reply: He almost always has his phone on him and on hand, so it’s safe to say he’ll respond relatively quickly if not right away, but once in awhile he might just leave some people on read if it’s the non-essential or some pesky acquaintances. 🤭

The thing about him is, he talks to nearly everyone, but how close he is to each is varied and actually only talks to a few on a daily basis who he can share all his gossip and personal updates like Diluc, Dainsleif, Rosaria, and Lisa. The list goes on for a little longer...

Sample of texting to Lisa:

K: Remember how I told you about Beidou from L College being Ninggaung’s lackey for the week?👀 K: Well, I think they’re dating now.🤭 K: I have heard so much from my sources as of late, I can’t wait to share it with you. K:🧐 K: I think this is enough to warrant a phone call or a coffee break. You let me know.

Sample of texting you to go out on a date:

K: Hey there, y/n. K: I wanted to ask you in person, but I didn’t get the chance with you speeding off to your next class. As usual...😩 K: But I was hoping we could meet up for a coffee date at the spot I was talking to you about. 😏 K: Anytime is good with me. I’m pretty flexible. 😉

Confident guy, but secretly hoping you have time and won’t reject him right away. He was typing, “unless you don’t want to...,” but then deleted it because he really wanted you to say yes and doesn’t want to leave an inch for you to turn away from him.

He enjoys phone calls more than Diluc for any situation. Hearing him laugh or chuckle through the phone is a treat. Not to mention whenever he hums a “hmm” lowly. Ohhh, it’s delectable.🤭 If only he knew how it makes Kaeya simps feel to hear all that.😩

Dainsleif: At this point, he really should just trademark the thumbs up emoji.

I’m sure you can pick up from the short blurb that Dain really doesn’t type much at all and will mostly just uses some hand emojis to respond to most texts. Honestly, it should be talent.

Sometimes it can drive some people nuts over what he means when they’re texting him something urgent like “omg, I’m having a panic attack,” and he just goes “👍.“ Like do you mean, “cool story bro” or “good on you for dying right now.”

Maybe he doesn’t care, but people will never know because he doesn’t really make it known. I mean...you have to be either the bravest or angriest person ever to confront him about it. Most times, I think people just leave it at that because it might hurt their pride a little knowing what he really thought. The guy can be pretty blunt and cold.

Honestly, he might not even get to text a thumbs up emoji when you’re having a panic attack because he’s not always on his phone. Especially, when he’s working and he’ll see the text like....god knows when. Although, as someone who I consider as tech-savy, he can always link up his texts to his laptop. So, I guess he straight up either silence the texts or ignore that text....I’m kidding, he would have never ignore something that dire if he has the person on his contacts (and kept that contact...) Thank goodness he’s not in the medical field.

He’s definitely the type you want to talk to in-person if you want his honest answer. Texts are only so good to a certain point.

Texting is for scheduling for meet ups or phone calls. Or simply a way for him to get quick updates from someone.

Needless to say, his texts are super short, if he types anything, and even more to-the-point than Diluc’s.

Yeah, he’s not a great conversationalist over texts at all.

He’s quite infuriating to those who are fast texters or prefer texting over to phone calls.

However, he’s not entirely neglectful. It just depends on who is sending him texts.

He doesn’t use a whole lot of punctuation, but his texts aren’t long so they’re very clear

How long does it take for him to reply: Well.....it depends. If you’re not high on the list of priority, maybe never. He’ll straight up leave you on read like what he does to Kaeya sometimes, but Kaeya finds ways to grab his interests, which leads Dain to reply sooner than usual.

Sample of texts with someone from the same major as him:

Monday 7:06 PM Guy: Did you manage to recover the files for Fred? Dain: 👍 Guy: Awesome👍

Wednesday 8:23 PM Guy: We just arrived at Jerry’s party! where u at? Dain: 🦶 Guy: I’m assuming ure walking over then... Wednesday 9:30 PM Guy: Dude, it’s been like a hr, where u at? Guy: People are starting to wonder if ure coming at all... Guy: Please get here soon! Wednesday 11:43 PM Guy: Dude, did u leave early? I don’t c u anywere. [Left on read.]

Thursday 1:45 PM Guy: Man screw u. I heard u left with cynthia! Bet u guys screwed!! Guy: Fak u, thinking ure the shyt or something! [Contact deleted. Conversation deleted.]

They did indeed have s*x only because she asked nicely and Dain was not in a relationship. Dain’s a gentleman who doesn’t mind casual s*x, but also who is he to deny a nice lady asking politely (or anybody asking politely in general😉). Beats hanging with douchebags. He has no time for drama or toxicity. He cuts them off right away.

Sample of a text to you when you’re dating him:

Dain: Hey Dain: I thought I should text you something like you told me to Dain: I’m having PM classes today from 5 to 10 today Dain: But I’ll be free outside of that Dain: Let me know if you need me for anything Dain: We can meet up for lunch if you want You: Sure! Dain: 👍

Now, I know what this all sounds like, but let it be known, he is not a player. In fact, when he’s dating someone, the other person is more likely dump or cheat on him because he’s actually super faithful to his partner. S*xy times are reserved only for his partner if they so wished it. Unfortunately… sometimes the other person just doesn’t share the same level of commitment as he does...🥺 By the way, that’s considered a lot of texting by his standards and expect it to continue because that’s how committed and serious he is.

Ajax/Tartaglia: He’s normal, I don’t know what to talk about.🙃

There’s not a whole lot of characteristics to be picked out from his texting styles other than the fact that he always seems to reply to you when you least expect him to like....immediately replying to you even though you’re sending him texts at 3 AM. Like...does he even sleep?

That and his arsenal of emoji usage: 🤗🤭😑😧😲🥺😩😈 🥰😘🤯😃😉😎🥳🙃

He is one emoji beast and every one of them can immediately help you evoke the expression he has at every given moment. At least it’s nice to know how he’s feeling.

How long does it take for him to reply: Not long as long as he’s conscious. If he’s sleeping, well sometimes he’ll wake up to the sound of his phone pinging because he doesn’t really set it to silent mode except when he has class or during a movie. He usually has his phone on ring because he’s always there when you need him. He’s there for both his family and friends, and as long as he’s alive, he’ll continue to commit to his loved ones. (This only possible for someone as crazy as he is...or beastly...)

Sample of him replying to your 3 AM texts:

3:21 AM Ajax: Everything alright? It’s not like you to text this late...😐 You: Yeah, but isn’t that same for you? Ajax: Er...I might’ve had coffee too late in the afternoon? Ajax:😩 You: 🤭 A latte again? Ajax: Yup, couldn’t resist.... They were having a chestnut praline latte promotion and they were HALF OFF!!!!😋 Ajax: I may or may not have drank a little more than I should have🙃 You: And you didn’t invite me... You:😞 Ajax: Hey chin up, it’ll be my treat tomorrow 😉 Ajax: WAIT! I mean...my treat in a few hours🤣🤣 You: That’s true!!!🤣🤣 Ajax: So I’ll see you in a few...and then you can tell me what’s going on ok? You: Yeah, that sounds good Ajax:😃👍

Best bro and he’s the same if not more with his siblings. He’s always there to support his people. He’ll schedule a meeting with people as soon as he can if he senses anything is wrong. These headcannon posts are pretty experimental for me, but they’ve been fun to type up and think about.

Low key Kaeya’s texting style to ask someone out on a coffee date is pretty similar to what Tartalini would do as they both enjoy using winky emojis and are pretty flirty, but gotta diversify the texts and situations to deliver a breath of scenarios.

I had headcannons for Ayato’s texting style too, but I ran out of steam towards the end. So, I’ll just have to save those for another time. I really wanted to elaborate on why I would think Dainsleif is open to casual s*x, but I feel like that could be a whole post on it’s own, so I tried to refrain from it taking over his section. After all, this is suppose to be on texting styles and their tendencies. 😉
