Causing fear about what happens during and post diagnosis for any condition by lying about it is not any type of disability advocacy

A lot of people online lie about both diagnostic and treatment processes and at times it is very obvious (or outright stated) that the people who are claiming these sorts of things have never been to the professional they're talking about. This is not to be any sort of "anti-self dx" post, simply that if you are this person you should consider not making PSAs about how diagnosis gets you put on govt lists or gets your rights taken away immediately.

Instead talk about patient rights, patient advocacy, and your local laws!

The most important one being that in the USA there is no govt list of disabled people that gets updated the minute you get a diagnosis. Your human rights are not just yoinked the minute you leave the Dr's office.

The ONLY people who know about your diagnosis are: the Dr who assessed you, and IF you used insurance AND the Dr submitted the diagnostic code to the insurance company, the insurance company will know. 1) you can REQUEST your Dr leave off the diagnostic code if you want to and 2) not going through health insurance may be more expensive but if you ARE very worried about your insurance knowing you can simply not use it.

Those are the only people who know! The ONLY way your diagnostic information can be shared to literally anyone else, including your primary care provider or any other Dr or the govt: 1) you sign a release of information for your medical records to be released to another person/dr, 2) you are submitting your diagnostic paperwork Somewhere to receive accommodations/assistance (for school/work, SSDI/SSI, etc--even then they will ONLY know the diagnoses you gave them), 3) you told them, 4) the court orders your medical information for an active court case (divorce etc), 5) a HIPAA violation where the dr/clinic doing the assessment illegally gives your information to anybody else without your permission. You can sue over this, as well as get their license revoked by reporting them to both the state and federal licensing boards for their profession.

As far as human rights are concerned, the main issues are in conservatorships, child custody, and medical abuse/neglect. Some things (like marriage issues and having 'too much money') are strictly SSI related which many disabled people are not on. Conservatorships and child custody issues are NOT based on your diagnosis! You can literally have this issue with conditions that many people on here overlook such as depression or GAD. These are based on severity of symptoms and someone trying to claim you are very ill. Meaning you can provide evidence that you do not need conservatorship, need a DIFFERENT conservator, or are able to care for your child either with or without assistance. Medical neglect/abuse is a big human rights issue but again this is NOT based on diagnosis, this can happen to anybody. You can also sue and report these incidents to revoke a professional's license.

While yes certain highly stigmatized conditions (both physical and mental) are more prone to experiencing these issues, telling people that if they seek help at all they will lose their rights and bad things will happen to them is unforgivable levels of fear mongering. There is not a diagnosis that will automatically revoke your human rights. Especially when it comes to mental health where many therapists will treat you while never putting a diagnosis down on paper because MANY therapists are aware of those issues and will not list a diagnostic code by default unless you request it for reasons like disability hearings.

Bakugo glares at you from where he’s sat on the edge of the bed, torso leaned back, eyes that deep red now narrowed into pretty, black slits. You feel naked under his gaze, consumed, and yet the only thing that’s come off so far is the thin, white T-shirt you were wearing during dinner.

(And his, the scar on the skin above his heart soft and pink.)

You shrug, turning in on yourself as your arms move to shield the skin that’s left barely covered by your bra. He’s never seen your boobs before, not that he hasn’t been interested, just that he’s always respected your hesitance.

It's a new relationship. It's new for you in general. For him, too.

"I will, I will, just... they're a little..."

You pause, he interrupts.

“Say it.”

"You know...” you gesture, eyes flitting everywhere but to his face, his spread thighs, and his… crotch, tight with stretched fabric, “…weird."

“Weird? Fuckin’ weird?” Bakugo pulls his lip up, eyebrows shooting to the top of his forehead in (what is so unlike him,) bewilderment. “Baby, my dick’s already hard. Whatever you got is good, I can promise.”

He leans forward, the tent in his pants tilting as he shoves a finger into your waistband and tugs your hips closer to his face.

“Kat!” you whine, wiggling in his grasp, fighting against a force that cannot be fought against (lest your clothing rip or even worse, you run away and he lets you go). His hands creep up your sides, gentle enough to be stopped but steady in their path now that you’re standing between his legs.

“C’mon,” he rasps, not quite a beg but about as close as you’ll ever get, his bottom lip curled in one of the smallest pouts you’ve ever seen. He stares up at you, his chin brushing against your sternum, as a thumb finds a clasp and starts toying with it. “Lemme see.”

You purse your lips, a hundred questions left unanswered at the tip of your tongue, about a thousand more insecurities exhaled in your breath... but nod, anyway. Squeezing your eyes shut, you let him undress you (more gentle than he's ever been)... then peak, just once, to find that he is already grinning.

forgive the brief jesus chris superstar rant but. there is a very important difference between the pharisees being villains and the pharisees being antagonists. they're technically antagonists because they're actively working against the interests of our protagonist, but i don't believe they should ever be played as villains. they're not evil or bad or wrong. they're terrified just like literally everyone else in the show is, and their actions are completely justified. to me that's the entire point of the musical. it's not about christianity; it's about the impact the roman empire's brutal and violent imperialism had on everyone on all levels. including jesus and judas, but also including the pharisees, and even herod and pilate. when a powerful coloniser forces their presence on innocent people they are the only winners. everyone else suffers, even the puppet kings and high priests who look like they're reaping some sort of benefit from it all. that's roman propaganda. the romans kept native rulers like herod and caiaphas in power to maintain the illusion of provincial autonomy, and keep populations appeased and therefore under control. everyone in the show is acting out of fear of the romans. the one roman character we do see (pilate) is acting out of fear of his own emperor. it makes no sense to cast the pharisees as two dimensional Bad Guys, especially when the same productions that do that usually offer a sympathetic portrayal of pilate. it would be so easy to stage and direct a production in a way that makes it obvious that the pharisees are doing what they're doing because they truly have no choice, and not because they're pure evil and want to kill jesus for the sake of it. it's not only an antisemitic trope but also undermines a really important theme of the musical. if you can see the humanity in the violent roman governor installed forcefully on conquered land then you can afford some humanity for the pharisees too. they are victims of pilate and victims of rome just like everyone else

#THEY ARE NOT ALLIES OF PILATE. they have a common interest yes. ie avoiding punishment from rome #but the pharisees have no choice but to go to pilate. they have no real power. because like i said. they are puppet rulers #i am just tired of seeing the pharisees as villains #IF YOU WANT A VILLAIN (idk why you need to have one i don't think this show is about that) IT SHOULD BE FUCKING PILATE. AND NO ONE ELSE #THE PHARISEES ARE NOT VILLAINS. THEY ARE NOT EVIL. THEY ARE VICTIMS.#i am tired of seeing them costumed or directed in a way that makes them stereotypical Bad Guys #the 2k version of jcs is my favourite but i HATE how it portrays the pharisees at times especially annas #when annas pushes judas to the floor for literally no reason it's like. you are going out of your way to make these guys seem evil #sucks because the actor from 2k is the best annas i've ever seen in terms of presence and voice #and the actor who plays caiaphas in that film does a really good job at showing fear instead of pure anger and evil #but it's generally all still done in a way that makes the priests seem evil. in my opinion #and yes i called pilate violent. he's not in A Lot of productions but. the real pilate was an extremely brutal governor #and there's a very good reason for portraying him as such. especially when you consider the themes i mentioned here #jesus christ superstar #jcs #ask to tag

im in my Horror Movie era and like. i keep thinking how terrifying would a g/t horror movie be. a tiny protagonist in an oversized world could be so so scary. bugs, animals, unaware humans, even things just like struggling to get consistent meals or finding somewhere genuinely safe enough to rest. you could go psychological thriller about a recently shrunk person struggling to cope. you could have a slasher flick where the slasher is just an unaware giant.

i want Midsommar but it’s a borrower joining a fairy cult. i want Saw where it’s a borrower making traps for humans because they just hate giants. i want Hereditary with the added struggle of a mixed size family dynamic. i want whatever batshit original concepts A24 could do with a g/t dynamic

anyways i think there’s a huge potential for size horror and man. a movie like that would terrify me

the thing abt astarion and baldurs gate 3 is that while i do like astarion, hes an interesting character with some cool plots, im fairly neutral on him compared to most of the cast. but. he rolls over a 30 nine times out of ten when lockpicking and disarming traps. which suits my playstyle so well.

when i started playing the game i first tried to regularly swap out characters (habits kept from rpgs where characters not in the party dont level up/dont level up as fast) but i realized pretty fast that the flouncy traumaguy is actually so useful. hes really reliable in battle and he destroys traps and locks with so much ease i just Cant leave him at camp. he disapproves of 95% of what i do bc im trying to smooch karlach this run, but im spending all my gold to put him in schmancy little outfits that keep him from getting one-shotted.

hes my little purse dog. if a purse dog had a gun and a set of lockpicks. sure im allergic to dogs and this dog hates me whenever i open my mouth, but look at him, look at how cute the gun is in his little paws when he snipes mind flayers.
