so i was re-reading book 4 of mdzs and hit with SO many emotions that i ended up starting my obligatory wen qing has been stuck in jgy’s basment this whole time fic.
so far i have about 3 chapters written and no idea how long this will be; it’s incredibly self-indulgent and i’m letting the story make all the decisions for me.
chapter 1 is up now, i’ll be adding chapter 2 once i’m happy with chapter 3, and so on and so on. that way i want to ensure that i actually finish this story properly!

MDZS/The Untamed Fic Rec!
I really wanted to share this fic with someone because of how good it is, and then I remembered I have tumblr. So! Here we are. Introducing: Black-Eyed by @bettsfic
Ao3 Summary:
Jiang Cheng was cute, if you liked the whole whiny pissbaby vibe. Mostly he was a walking migraine, and Wen Qing couldn’t look at him without imagining slapping duct tape over his mouth so he’d shut the fuck up.
Or: Wen Qing can't stand her roommate's little brother. But she also can't stop fucking him.
Some of my thoughts:
It goes without saying that the non-mlm fics in ao3 danmei receive less hype, and a quick scroll through betts' profile also reveals this fic to be her most underrated MXTX fic. however! Wen Qing is definitely one of the (if not the!) most popular female characters in the MDZS/CQL fandom and she deserves good things. Same with Jiang Cheng, and BOY do they get good things in this fic.
Despite this fic featuring a hetero couple, their dynamic plays around with traditional gender roles. The most obvious, of course, being Jiang Cheng's wish to be a househusband vs. Wen Qing's domineering coldness as well as the, uh, *whispers* pegging tag. These two truly build a beautiful rapport throughout the 16k word fic and it makes me kick my feet and twirl my hair and stuff.
If you STILL need MORE INCENTIVE to read this fic, wangxian is there to be the most hilarious side couple. This fic is literally so good, guys. Go read it!

You're literally so good at analysis and I'm grateful I found you when I read MDZS especially re: JC and him being an antagonist. It's refreshing to see critical takes that don't woobify the character
I was curious as to what you thought of the comb scene between JC and WQ?
Aw thank you!! I love Jiang Cheng, but I can't stand fanon!Jiang Cheng lol.
The comb scene isn't in the book. That said, I liked it well enough. I do think Wen Qing x Jiang Cheng was an interesting ship to explore, and I wish more had been done with it if they were to introduce it. It was clearly shoehorned in because censorship, but I didn't mind it per se within the set up of The Untamed. I just think they could have done more with it than to have it be a nonstarter. JC didn't need another reason to be mad at Wei Wuxian, and his reaction to her execution didn't really ring honest to me. It could have been used to explore his hatred for the Wens and to challenge him on it--but then, his own hatred for Wei Wuxian kind of starts to fall apart, so. That's probably why they didn't explore it in depth.

wei wuxian would probably be taller than lan wangji if he wasn't starved as a child. my guy was 186cm tall after being starved for 4-6 years, he would probably be like 190-195cm tall.
i love the idea that both wei changze and cangse sanren were also both freakishly tall, and because of that their kid is eye-level with nie mingjue or more, like dude. dude.
Tumblr media
WWX: tallest person in jianghu
just for the record, wwx is canonically 186cm, but i think this is better! this also means that every modern au has tallxian, and i will not compromise on this >:3c

Jiang Yanli does Legally Blonde
Winning in the courtroom with the power of soup!
When it began, jiang yanli was a girl with everything, a rich family, two lovinf brothers, and a beautiful finance who was going to go to college with her (she’s taken a few years off for her health, but now she’s got the chance!)
Or so there parents planned, simce the two of them are in a rather old-fashioned arranged marriage
But while they’re waiting for their acceptance letters, Jin Zixuan grows more and more distant, before angrily revealing he doesn’t want to go with her, because he “doesn’t want to be stuck in some mediocre school with miss mediocre”
And he says this to her face, in the middle of a party their parents had organized.
Jiang yanli js devistated, and even her brother punching him in the face does not make her feel better. Her engagement is annulled, and the man she loved thinks only the worst of her.
But jiang yanli has her pride. She would have let him go his own way and never crossed paths again…except…
In that one summer, everything goes wrong. Her parents die in a car crash that was obviously premeditated but no one can prove it. Her father’s buisness goes under and all of their money is left to the Wens, who havr some how became the beneficiaries over his own childern, even if jiang yanli knows there’s no way her mother would ever agree to it.
She loses jiang cheng to fostercare (he’s still 17) because apparently she “can’t provide him proper stability” and wei ying, newly turned 18, goes missing after trying to investigate their parents deaths.
Now with no way forward, and a need for a high ranking job stat, jiang yanli turns to the only option she has left: the Harvard application she had secretly applied too to surpise her then fiance
But its fine! Its not like he’d go to harvard! Its so focused and uptight! He has so many other options…
Nope. He’s here. And the first thing he does when he sees her is stand up and shout to the whole class “Are You Stalking Me?!!!!”
Jiang yanli: … (deep breath and under her breath) think about ur brothers think about ur brothers
Jin zixun: who did u bribe to get in?
Jiang yanli: i applied and got accepted, the same as everyone else.
Jin zixun, who had to bribe the dean to get in: ….
Then class begins, and its even worse. Jiang yanli is not made for this kind of harsh lifestyle. She keeps seeing the best in the clients, doesn’t approve of the dirty tricks, and is all around having a bad time
And when class ends, jin zixuan leaves with a girl on his arm, who jiang yanli is pretty sure is called mianmian, and always used to hang around jun zixuan when they were together. Was she who jun zixuan really loved?
(Mianmian is not dating jun zixuan. She would not date him if u paid her. But she is his best friend. And you can bet she’s gonna cal him out for making this all about him)
Also jiang yanli’s financial status gets leaked, and nasty rumors are spreading about how she’s chasing the riches she used to have by trying to get jin zixuan back. Now the rich students don’t want to hang out with her, and the scholarship students think she thinks she’s better than them so they don’t want to hang out with her either
Jiang yanli doesn’t realize this until she shows up to what she was told was a costume party in traditional chinese dress only to find it is not one.
But she’s not the only one in this predicament, because Meng Yao got invited too, and came in a traditional chinese costume too, albeit a cheaper made one.
Jin zixun starts making fun of meng yao, teasing him for wearing a “dress” and having no sense of porpriety, and being a bastard bottom feeder son of a whore-
And then jiang yanli shows up. Jiang yanli has had quite enough of the Jins by this point. But she has an advantage meng yao lacks, she had to grow up with them. She knows their Weakenesses.
It takes her five minutes to completely dress Jin zixun down, make him look like the unreasonable and uneducated fool for making fun her her and meng yaos costumes, and meng yao look noble in compairison
then she proceeds to link arms with meng yao and drag him around the room with her, the very image of a beautiful couple costume that every other couple should envy
Now jiang yanli doesn’t actually know who meng yao is, nor does she realize he’s not another student, but actually a grad student who’s passed the bar, but she is thrilled to meet someone so nice who is willing yo listen to her rant about how hard law is
Meng yao is hers now. He is not getting rid of her. He is small and nice and clearly needs hugs and soup. And goddamnit she misses having someone to spoil!
Meng yao doesn’t know what’s going on, he doesn’t know what this lady’s angle is, but he’s more than willing to teach her how to study in exchange for some soup and spoiling
He’s definitely thought about marrying her. It would definitely humiliate jin zixuan if his fiance chose his bastard brother over him. But she’s just so sisterly anything romantic feels incestuous (rip canon jiggy) besides, he doesn’t need to date her. Because everyone else already thinks they’re a couple
Including jin zixuan, who absolutely got an earful about losing jiang yanli to “that bastard” from his mother
Meng yao makes certain jun zixuan gets a front row seat to seeing what a wonderful and caring person jiang yanli is …and how meng yao is treating her SO MUCH better!
Cue jin zixuan seething with jealousy when he sees meng yao holding the door open for jaing yanli, who gives him that beautiful smile, did she ever smile at him like that?
Mianmian: i thought you wanted her to leave you alone? Why are you getting jealous now she’s clearly not thinking about you?
Jin zixuan: I DONT KNOW!!!
So with meng yao’s help, jiang yanli is doing so much better in the courtroom, so good that she ends up as an intern with jin zixuan and mianmian.
Jiang yanli is thrilled! Her plan to save her family is going so well!
Then she meets the client, and that becomes way more relevant
Because its wei ying
Wei ying who is suspected of the murder of wen ning, and her teacher is trying to get him to plead guilty.
Now jiang yanli has to win this case, and prove him completely innocent, even when he’s refusing to tell her what really happened
To make matters worse, her teacher gets her alone in typical legally blond fashiom, puts the moves on her, gets rejected, and subsequently fires her
Jin zixuan walks in on them before things get bad, giving jiang yanli the chance to escape, but jiang yanli can see the disgust in his eyes and knows what he thinks of her
She’s about to leave when she runs into of all people, Wen Qing, who comes with proof wei ying didn’t kill wen ning, that wen ning is alive and hiding in a hospital, and begs her to save wei ying
And jiang yanli isn’t about to abandon her brother, no matter waht anyone thinks of her
And because this is legally blonde universe, and no one needst to pass the bar to represent in court, she’s going to take her brothers case from her teacher and save the day!
Meanwhile jun zixuan realizes he has the mortifying task of telling his half-brother his girlfriend who is jin zixuan’s ex girlfriend was cheating with the teacher
Not that meng yao seems to believe him
Did she offer him soup?
No!
Then she’s not interested in him
But he was…shw was…
A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do…unless u’ve got some kind of problem with sec work?” Mwng yao glares and jin zixuan realizes who he’s talking too
Mianmian interupts their argument of womens rights to poimt out that “you left her alone with that teacher? Famed sex offender?? Did either of you even think to warn her??? WTF???”
Oh. Goes Meng yao, rolling up his sleeves. That is a very different situation
So meng yao takes on the supervisory role for jiang yanli so she can represent wei ying
Jin zixuan uses his power and influence (and nepotism) to get mianmian and jiang yanli’s case against the teacher through the school board faster
And mianmian is here with the common sense
So jiang yanli manages to save the day, by proving thst not only was wen ning still alive, but wei ying was savinf him from his uncle who had planned to kill him off for tryinf to prove he stole the jiang buisness
When the dust settles, jiang yanli has got her brother back, her fortune in the process of being restored, and finally a steady enough job to get jiang cheng’s custody transfered back to her
And also a very, very apologetic jin zixuan, who is very determined to make it up to her through very expensive gifts (like helping her get said custody of jiang cheng)
She’s willing to let him be “a friend” again, but meng yao puts him through two more years of assuming he’s a third wheel before letting him know he and jiang yanli aren’t a couple and she’s prob take him back if he begged really hard.
And in the end, jiang yanli becomes a world famous lawyer, with a rich trophy husband a buisness partner in meng yao, and two brothers who will not stop giving her trouble

💙The Path
By:Seastar98
Summary:
Some fates are set in stone. Others are written in sand. No one can know which they have until they try to change them.
Nie Huaisang decides to do something about Wei Wuxian's exile. Maybe his path is set, but the least he can do is try, right?
Chapter:32/32
Words:279,460
Status:completed
It was incredible to watch. Even with their eyes closed, they had such an awareness of each other they could move in unison. Their senses were so well-tuned they could sense attacks coming through the hallucinations, yet somehow, they evenly divided the attacks between them, never aiming for the same chain set. “There might be something to that soulmate business,” Someone muttered. Jiang Cheng glared in their general direction. He could fight like that with Wei Wuxian, but he’d been raised and trained with Wei Wuxian. Over a decade of being together gave them the knowledge to be in sync in a fight. Maybe not while blind. Maybe not now that he had Zidian and Wei Wuxian had Chenqing. But they were brothers. They had each others’ backs. Wei Wuxian and Hanguang-Jun, at that point, knew each other for months. Most of that time was spent in a classroom or the library. If they fought, it was against the other. Even against the Waterborne Abyss, there wasn’t that much actual fighting. They didn’t train for this, yet being together just seemed so natural. Destined. He was growing to hate that word
~~
Wei Wuxian once again shared a look with Lan Wangji. Nie Huaisang threw a nut at him. Lan Wangji caught it easily, then looked at him oddly. The smaller man rolled his eyes, “I’m starting to hate when you and Wei-xiong do that.” Do what? Look at each other? “It is annoying,” Jiang Wanyin agreed. It wasn’t his fault they used to communicate so easily. All it took was a look, and Wei Ying seemed to understand more than he could ever convey with his words. That didn’t last forever. No, when he started cultivating with resentful energy, looking at each other no longer worked. There was dissonance where there was once harmony. And he didn’t have the words to make up for it
~~
“So…” Nie Huaisang shifted in his seat, “Last time Wei-xiong and Hanguang-Jun were alone in a cave together they got married.” Lan Wangji narrowed his eyes at the devious young man. Nie Huaisang had always been on the periphery of his life. He’d never given him reason to focus on him before. Even now, having confirmed that he was more than he appeared to be...it didn’t bother him. Nie Huaisang still loved his brother, and Nie Mingjue would always be an honorable man. “Not married,” Uncle corrected, his voice tight. “Engaged then,” Nie Huaisang fluttered his fan, likely hiding a mischievous grin, “Are you telling me you spent a week in a cave together and nothing happened?” Lan Wangji recognized the provocation, but he couldn’t stop himself from blushing. He had debated with himself for hours how much of his time with Wei Ying he would show. He eventually decided he should stake a public claim on him. Let everyone in this room know just how dedicated he was to the love of his life. They might not understand it yet. They might still think he hardened his heart when Wei Ying turned to demonic cultivation, but they would see soon that Wei Ying really didn’t change much. They would never respect a demonic cultivator, but they did respect him. Their fear of the Yiling Patriarch would one day lead them to action. Their fear of Hanguang-Jun...perhaps that would be enough. He'd make it enough. Xichen choked on his tea, “Something happened?” “You were both injured,” Jiang Wanyin frowned. Jin Zixuan flushed, “I thought Lans were romantic.” “Oh, it doesn’t have to be romantic, Jin-xiong,” Nie Huaisang fanned himself, “Wei-xiong wouldn’t want to die a virgin.” “Huaisang,” Nie Mingjue warned. “Virgin?” Lan Wangji echoed, unsure if he wanted to know the answer or was jealous that Nie Huaisang would know this answer. “You really need to work on your jealousy,” Nie Huaisang laughed, “What? We can share porn but not our own experiences?” “Experiences,” Lan Wangji repeated again. He knew it was likely a joke, that Nie Huaisang was using this conversation to ease the tension in the room or some other reason he didn’t care for. They were on the same side so long as Wei Ying wasn’t disposable to him. “Relax, Wangji-xiong,” Nie Huaisang lowered his fan to show his grin, “Wei-xiong’s never even kissed anyone. He’s all talk.” Lan Wangji barely stopped his mouth from twitching into a pleased smile. His brother just kept coughing. Jin Guangyao patted his back, “You don’t have to look so pleased with that.” He wouldn’t love Wei Ying less if he wasn’t his first, but he couldn’t deny how satisfying it would be to be each other's one and only
~~
“If not now, when?” Jiang Cheng retorted, “I’ve already had enough of you. Get lost!” Get lost. Jiang Cheng almost laughed at the cruel irony of his words. He kept telling Wei Wuxian to get lost, and then he was lost to them. For three months physically, for far longer in reality. They lost the old Wei Wuxian. He hung his head, ready to receive his sister’s disappointment. She wouldn’t get angry. She never got angry at him, and she especially wouldn’t hold his actions while he was grieving against him. So she would be disappointed, and it would hurt a thousand times worse than if she just struck him as he’d struck Wei Wuxian. Jiang Cheng told him to get lost, and he did. He should have been careful what he wished for. He hadn’t been prepared to get it.
~~
Wei Wuxian didn’t fight back, though he did weakly grab at Jiang Cheng’s hands as the younger continued shouting, “You should’ve just let Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan die. Why should we care about their lives? Just let them die. Why did you stand up for them? Now, Yunmeng has been destroyed. My parents are gone. You are happy, aren’t you? Why?” “How dare you!” Lan Wangji would have risen if his brother hadn’t grabbed his shoulder. He would have attacked if his brother hadn’t taken his sword. He still could summon Bichen and send it across the room, but Jiang Yanli had tugged her brother closer. There were still tears in her eyes from the sight of one brother choking the other out, and in that moment, he couldn’t bear to cause her anymore pain. “How dare he what?” Nie Huaisang demanded, “Repeat the mistakes of his parents?” Xichen’s grip weakened in shock, and Lan Wangji turned his attention to the smaller man, “Aren’t all of us doing the same?” Nie Mingjue flinched, as did Lianfeng-Zun and Jin Zixuan. Lan Wangji barely kept himself from outwardly reacting. The words struck too close to his heart. He was too close to making the same mistake as his father. He was tempted to hide Wei Wuxian away in Gusu and then seclude himself from the world as punishment. As long as Wei Wuxian was safe, he would happily do so.
~~
Lan Wangji had heard a number of Wei Ying’s cries. There was his shout of terror when facing the beast in the Wen Sect’s dungeon. There was his shout of surprise when Nie Huaisang snuck up on him. But the only cry of pain he’d heard was when he was a child. He hadn’t let out a noise when he was hurt by Wen Chao. He only whined to get pity when he was branded. Even facing the Xuanwu, where he was exhausted, he was largely silent. It was new to hear him cry out in agony. Which only proved how much pain he was in. “Jiang Wanyin doesn’t deserve this,” Lan Wangji said. “He does in Wei Wuxian’s eyes,” His brother replied. Wei Ying had terrible judgment then. But he would have to respect his sacrifice. It was too late to change it. “Wangji,” His brother pressed his sleeve to his cheek. When he drew back, Lan Wangji could see it was wet. He didn’t bother to hide his tears. Wei Ying deserved so much more than his tears.
~~
Wei Ying loves me,” Wangji replied. “Oh,” Xichen sighed. “It was obvious,” Lianfeng-Zun commented under his breath. Lan Qiren didn’t agree, but there was such certainty in his nephews that he doubted his own instinct. It would be impossible to dissuade Wangji from this course of action now that he knew his feelings were returned. He mentally calculated how quickly they could pull together a wedding and hoped that time was enough to prevent them from eloping. Wei Wuxian was shameless and unrestrained, but he wasn’t evil. He made Wangji happy. “Then you have my blessing,” Lan Qiren said, unable to keep some bitterness out. It would be a difficult conversation with the elders. He wouldn’t let Wei Wuxian be treated like his brother’s wife, and while the disciples here perked up at his quiet words and spread them back cheerfully, there would be some resistance to integration. Even if he said it was rehabilitation. “You can present him with a ribbon after this,” Xichen permitted. “Two,” Wangji replied. “Two ribbons?” The elder of the two frowned. “Hm,” Wangji blushed slightly, “For Wei Ying and our son.” Lan Qiren closed his eyes and took a deep breath. If Wangji had met the child, and the Jiang siblings made no mention of a child, then it had to be a Wen child. A Wen child currently living in the Burial Mounds, who had been liberated from a Jin Sect labor camp. A child Lan Qiren wouldn’t have believed existed until yesterday. He released the breath slowly. His grandnephew and heir to GusuLan was living in the Burial Mounds. Being raised by Wei Wuxian no less!
~~
Such foolishness! How could they have been so mistaken? They thought Hanguang-Jun disapproved of Wei Wuxian’s cultivation style out of his inherent righteousness! They never thought it would be anger born from worry, or that the worry came from love. This wasn’t a battle between a righteous hero and a wicked villain. This was as Nie Huaisang said earlier. A lover’s quarrel.
~~
Lan Zhan cut the association,” Wei Wuxian corrected, “I didn’t.” If Wangji were holding anything in his hands, he would have crushed it. Lan Qiren almost wanted to crush something himself. It was frustrating to watch, and every misunderstanding was just another knot to detangle later. The only bright side was that Wangji had his work cut out for him convincing Wei Wuxian he didn’t hate him. That meant the danger of elopement was far lower. Wei Wuxian was stubborn like that.
~~🤣🤣
What justice?” Jin Guangshan narrowed his eyes, “Will children decide my punishment?” “If they must,” Hanguang-Jun rose and swiftly pulled out his sword, “Shall I use Inquiry to ask the children killed at Qiongqi what they think?” “You dare!” Jin Guangshan yelled. “I do,” Hanguang-Jun stepped closer, “Submit yourself to justice.” It wasn’t a request this time. As always, there was a weight to Hanguang-Jun’s words that no one else could achieve. The Jin Sect framed Wei Wuxian and sent them into exile. The Jin Sect separated Hanguang-Jun from the love of his life. There may be an argument in there about bias in judgment, but Jin Guangshan wisely swallowed it back.

I’ll just get right into it the fic I’m looking for is MDZS
It’s modern time but cultivation still exists as stuff in MDZS still happened it’s just future
Wwx is a Camboy or smth like that and lwj is a devoted costumer
Lwj cultivated in immortality and is well known obv
In this word you can kinda sense if you knew someone in a past life
This kinda happened when wwx and wq and wn all met they were crying and stuff
When wwx mentioned lwj he didn’t know he’s hgj wq was like he just subbed to you like that after 5 min that sound like you knew each other
More than that it sound like zuji (pls ignore spelling I’m so tired 😭) material
And when they finally meet it’s bc wwx went to go help someone with some cultivation thing and one of the kids had already sent a single for the twin jades so yea
Sorry this is all over the place if you know what fic I’m talking about it would be most appreciated it if you put it in the comments

do u ship suneo and gian
Honestly, I don't mind it. I just haven't been able to find much content on Doraemon, so I haven't read any Suneo x Gian, but I'd love to read it if and when it's done properly.
I'm not picky with ships at all, one second I could be reading a fic with one ship, and then the next I could be reading a fic with an entirely different ship but with the same person.
It's why the internet ship wars have never made sense to me at all, because I really don't care as long as the relationship in a fic is written correctly and the pacing is right. If they're justified in wanting the relationship, I'm cool, I like that.
I mean, one minute I read a Bakudeku fic, and then the next minute I read Shigaraki x Deku.
But that isn't normal, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
