Korra Fitness: Korrantine Fitness 🙂❤️
Hey, y’all! I know it’s been a long while since I’ve posted something lol. Truth be told, I haven’t really been in the mood for working out or exercising. As I’m sure many of us feel nowadays, it’s just hard to get our mood and motivation up. About a week ago, I was talking to my friend and we ended up talking about Korra Fitness. I was telling him all about the movement and he...really inspired me. Inspired me to start my own workout process again, as well as restart the movement up a bit!
So, we came up with- Korrantine Fitness. :) As we’ve learned, it’s...incredibly hard to do fitness when we’re at home. I know for me, I definitely pushed myself to keep a lot of things up, but I just couldn’t do it, given the circumstances. As I’ve learned, though,...I need to be gentler to myself during this time. Understand that, we can’t do everything. We can only do what we can.
Korrantine Fitness is like Korra Fitness, but...gentler. It’s looking at where we are, right now, and accepting it. It’s...actually what Korra did, in Book 4. She had to accept herself for who she was and where she was, before she could get better. So, let’s do that. Let’s accept ourselves, as we are, and get better.
Something else that Korra learned- she learned that she couldn’t do everything by herself, that she needed her friends by her side. She learned that self-love means knowing how much other people love her too.
For the rest of this month, I wanna stay committed to building a better version of me. I want to be kinder, gentler, more loving towards myself. A huge thing I’ve been struggling with is self-love, and really taking in love for myself. I kinda thought that self-love came entirely from oneself. As a result, I've been self-isolating myself from opening up to others, and I learned... that I can’t do it all by myself. I need my friends and family to grow as a person. Because as people, we need others to grow.
So, for this Korrantine, I wanna be more open to others’ love, as well as my love. I want to open my heart more and learn to love others. I want to be more accepting of love and compassion, kindness, from me and others. Just spread more love. The world needs more of it. We need more of it. Our fandom and community could use more of it :).
As for my goals...I promise to be a kinder person to myself. I promise to love myself more and to let more of others in, and not keep things as much to myself. I promise to try to open my heart up more to others and to recognize that I need others’ love as much as I do my own in order to grow.
We can spread that love to our bodies too. Physically, quarantine has been really difficult for all of us. I know for me, I’ve been sleeping less, eating/drinking less water, etc. So, wherever we are in our physical journey...let’s do one gentle thing for our bodies each day. Whether that’s drinking more water, eating more, exercising, or sleeping more, let’s do something that’ll take good care of our bodies and make ourselves feel good. For me, I’m going to do yoga because I’ve found that it helps me feel strong and balance my day!
(Throughout this next month, some things that I would like to do in order to make myself feel more loved are: Yoga, writing, dancing, reading gay fanfic/listening to gay music, playing guitar, writing (i’m gay xD)- anything that makes me smile and laugh).
Just as Korra learned...we have to take care of our minds too. Because fitness is not just about the physical side, but it is also about the mental side too. So, I’m going to commit to doing one joyful thing each day. Whether it’s writing, reading, dancing, or playing guitar, I’d just like to commit to doing one joyful thing in my life, every day. Because now, more than ever, we need joy in our lives. We need something that’ll make us feel happy and safe and peaceful, and in control of our lives.
So...if you’re reading this, I encourage you- to pursue something that makes you happy and brings joy into your life. I encourage you to do whatever you need to do to take gentler care of your minds and bodies, whether that’s sleeping more, doing a creative activity, exercising, etc.
This is a movement of love. ❤️ Love and motivation and encouragement, to accept yourself where you are right now, and just taking it one step at a time to improving yourself.
Feel free to post whatever you’d like of Korrantine Fitness. It can be something you did that day, something that made you happy, any physical/mental progress- we’d love to see it!
Tagging @avatarmuscles and @valiantalpacapeach, my two Korra Fitness buddies who’ve been there from the very beginning! <3 (Also, I’d tag my irl friend too since he helped me come up with this. <3. Shout-out to you!!)
Let’s take care of our minds and bodies, and be (physically and mentally) fit like Korra. :)

Today’s workout: Asami
She’s stunning! She’s profound! She can lift u off the ground! Today, I did my deadlift workout, which I’ve now named after our stunning queen Asami Sato. When you’re in love with a buff Avatar and u gotta help that Avatar get in and out of her wheelchair as she recovers from serious injury and trauma, u need strong legs to support her.
Plus, when u and ur sapphic pals are confronted with that hair flip and faint, SOMEONE has to be able to pick everyone up. Might as well be you!
This brilliant engineer has five letters in her beautiful name. That works out perfectly with how I ladder my deadlifts, climbing up five weights. Here’s the general routine.
3 sets of:
5 deadlift, starting weight
5 deadlift +10lbs
5 deadlift +another 10lbs
5 deadlift +another 10lbs
3 deadlift +another 10lbs (wherever you want to max or cap for the day)
Between deadlift sets, do one of the following until you get to 4 sets for all of them:
45 sec. plank
timed pullup bar hang
10 ring rows (if you have rings around; if not, pick either an upper body exercise or a core exercise)
So for example, I did a set of 5 deadlifts, then a plank, then another deadlift set, then a pullup bar hang, etc.
Last part: end with 30 min. elliptical (or cardio of your choice)
–––––––––––––––––––––––––
This workout isn’t based on any special knowledge or particular results. I just think it’s cool/fun and I want to marry Asami okay. I’m still a baby deadlifter and haven’t found my max (not really trying either since I’m always alone for these workouts). So that’s why the reps are high-ish and why the increases are 10lbs.
Anyway, I wrote out the template for the routine above, buuuuttttt this is what I ACTUALLY did.
3 sets of:
5 DL, 45lbs (bar)
5 DL, 55lbs
5 DL, 65lbs
5 DL, 75lbs
4 DL, 85lbs (one rep increase from when I did this last week)
And then I was still feeling good so I also did
3 DL, 100lbs. I set an expectation to just do one b/c 15lbs is a bigger jump, but I felt totally fine doing more, so I did.
I could’ve gone higher, but decided to stop there b/c as I said I do these workouts by myself. I’m not that concerned about finding what my 1RM is. I’m more interested in loads that provide a good challenge, but that I still feel safely in control of. So now I think I need to consider just the bar as part of my warmup (therefore not counting it in the routine) since at this point, the bar is easy for me to lift. In fact, I can lift it over my head now, so I did that a few times just to warm up my upper body and get a feel for it.
Anyway, between sets of deadlifts, I did 4 sets of:
45 sec. plank with my hands on a medicine ball and one heel on top of the other, switching about half way between
14 sec. pullup bar hang
10 ring rows
30 min. elliptical, 6 resistance, 4,68 miles. Ending with cardio always makes me feel like I’ve worked out and it helps me get my cardio in 4 times a week.
So! There you have it. That’s Asami.
