Pairing- y/n and Theo raeken
Series- teen wolf
Warnings- kissing, obviously swearing😭, use of guns, pov fear of hights, talks of killing.
Summary- you get paired up with Theo, cleverly planned out by scott. And that wouldn’t be a problem if only Theo was an ugly toad. But he isn’t. And to add to the problems, you both get ambushed on your mission…
____________________🫶_____________________
“Finally, y/n and Theo will to to the hospital” Scott explained pairing the pack up for equally difficult and unsafe jobs! “What- me and Theo are you serious?” i stuttered slumping even further in the chair, if it was even possible.
“you need to sort out your differences” Scott shrugged with no attention.
The pack split up in to there assigned groups leaving the house putting on there bravest faces for the mission ahead. The hunters were still out there lurking, just waiting to kill us all. “Scott wait- can we swap” I asked low, while awkwardly Liam waited for his pair outside the house.
“like I said, sort out your differences” “but...” “come on princess, the sooner it’s done- you get it” theo interrupted shrugging. Allowing Scott to escape with Liam. Leaving me with no choice.
“I’m not dying for you so stick to your self” my eyes scanned him harshly before I coldly turned on my heels.
Theo was everything I ever wanted in a guy he was hot, strong, protective, funny and a little bit broken which was okay for me. And I was having the hardest time hiding that... every time he calls me princess my knees go weak and when Theo gets close I get nervous so nervous my hands get sweaty. My acting skills weren’t the best and I didn’t know how long I could keep up the act of hating his guts.
Sometimes I felt bad for the way I ignored him, but i couldn’t get hurt. I couldn’t show my feelings and get knocked down.
As long as I could get through tonight with out one of us dying I would be fine. “Y/n!” “W-what” my eyes blinked bringing me back to reality. “you were day dreaming I called your name three times- not scared are you?” Theo’s eyes had that joking look in them when I looked up in to the mirror. “no...just keep your eyes on the road grandma” my sarcasm kicked in. No my defence kicked in, and my head met the window for the rest of the journey.
“We should start from the top down, then we can use hight against them bastards if they show” he looked over at me but I was spaced out yet again. “You sure your okay?” Theo questioned genuinely looking worried while he parked his ridiculously hot car in the parking lot. It felt weird. The car park was empty it was never empty, I pushed open the door stepping out in my boots and staring in to the darkness.
“y/n I’m talking to you” theo sighed coming around “im worried” my body leaned against the car while our eyes met in the middle “that’s okay you don’t need to be strong all the time” he exclaimed smirking a bit. All I wanted to do was grab his face and kiss him. but i couldn’t.
“Whatever I’m taking charge here” “what ever you want princess” theo trailed after me with his hand up in defence. “I’ve told you to stop calling me that! Multiple times” I hissed weakly reaching the doors of the hospital. Automatically they opened, welcoming us in to hell. “why’s it so quite” I whispered dropping to a stance while we walked around the lobby. “next floor” theo pointed out pulling at my hand silently. My eyes lingered on our linked hands but when Theo saw me staring he pulled quickly away.
The chimaera stopped between the lift and the stairs not sure where to go, scoffing and calling him an amateur I tip toed up the stairs.
Walking up like an amateur myself guns fired out of nowhere. My heart stopped and I froze in panic. Or shock?
Theo, who had already saw the whole thing coming spun me around a wall for cover my body slamming again the stone and his pressing into mine. I could feel his abs through the thin T-shirt while he stayed there for a second our eyes caught one another’s. mine still in shock but his beautiful green eyes showed relief. I couldn’t think what for thought.
“We have to get to that room” he whispered over the gun fire, seriously. I nodded taking his hand this time and bolting it through the gun fire around the next corner. For now we were safe. Ish.
We were stuck in a hospital room with the hunters just outside the door. “How many did you see” “too many to fight” theo told me quietly.
“I’m so so sorry” I whispered leaning my head on his chest. “what- why” theo answered confused with my confession. “I got you in to this, you were right we should have gone in from the top” i exhaled thinking about how we were going to get out of this mess.
Finally pulling away from me theo nodded for my help to barricade the door. We moved a bookcases and some tall metal thing I didn’t even know the names of. But when we were eventually done theo took my hand with both of his staring into my eyes.
“I don’t think this is your fault! and I’m going to do what ever it takes to make sure you get out of here alive” his voice was soft and his neck was bent down to my level so I knew he was being serious. “we both get out theo, or none of us do” I told him almost in tears. His eyes flicked to my lips and I took that as a hint to make them meet his. It was only for a few seconds. It was sweet not how I imagined kissing Theo raeken, but then again it was everything I’d ever wanted.
“What was that for?” He smiled rubbing my hand with his thumb. “Just being you Theo…”
The door slightly banged like people were barging in to it. “We can talk about this later” I gulped staring at the door. “Okay we need to get out of this room first” he deeply thought. I felt automatically cold when Theo dropped my hands to check the windows. They opened, wide. “I have a plan but I’m not sure you will like it” he pulled himself back in from looking down at the ground.
Theo’s expression looked like he was joking again like, he was finding it amusing or was going to make a joke about jumping? “I’m not jumping- this is not funny” “what- no there’s a pipe we’re going climb it to the top” “oh” i exhaled replying flatly. “You go first” theo stepped out the way “what so I can fall to my death” “no! Jeez, so if they get in your safe” theo rolled his eyes slightly annoyed. “Im- sorry” I sighed getting close to him again.
“This isn’t easy for me” I told him truthfully. “What isn’t easy y/n?” He asked holding my face softly. As I opened my mouth the guns started shooting at the door “no time for an explanation! Go and if I say break the pole you break it okay!”. I shook my head at him.
“Okay!” Theo asked again looking down at me. His eyes were glistening. “no” I told him firmly. He sighed but still helped me out the window and stupidly I looked down. “Holy fuck” I whispered.
“not scared of heights are you” Theo giggled. ignoring the comment I reached for the pole I wasn’t sure if it was sturdy so I shook first. It was fine. Briskly, I climbed up and Theo soon came behind me the window closed behind us like we had disappeared. Stupidly I hugged him letting my guard down again. I wanted it down now, sort of. “I’m not going to let anything happen to you y/n” he whispered kissing the top of my head.
“Why not? I’m awful to you sometimes- I ignore you, I’m blunt, I ran you into immediate danger, I…” and with that, theo kissed me again. Probably to shut me the fuck up but… It was still a kiss. “Because I really fucking like you! And I don’t care what you say to me I’m going to keep trying because I’ve never felt like this about anyone- I’m serious about you y/n” Theo confessed not pulling away from my body once.
“I’ve been trying to tell you I like you! but we keep getting disturbed” I blurted out unable to keep it in any longer. “I can’t act anymore Theo” I breathed out. “You don’t have to princess, I’m all yours” he told me rubbing my cheek. I half laughed and hugged him again. “That’s everything I ever wanted to hear” I whispered holding him tightly.
“But! We need to Scott, tell them that the hunters are here and we need backup”
“Backup?- I’m sure there all gonna be dead by the time the pack is here” a hit of excitement flashed in Theo’s eyes. Mine matched his and Theo took hold of my hand again. We ran to the door preparing for the fight, but this time it was different. I really had something to fight for now.

Haunted Towers and Hidden Truths
Phic Phight prompt by @lexiepiper
Write a more traditional ghost story. How would things change if ghost powers weren’t super powers, but closer to old horror movie tropes?
“We shouldn’t do this Danny,” Sam said, ever the voice of reason. “This place isn’t like our usual haunts.“
But Danny shook his head, “No Sam, I have to do this. I have to know what that dream meant, if it was really a dream or something else.”
He moved to take a step forward when his other friend, Tucker, grabbed his arm, “I don’t know man, I think she’s right. There isn’t a possessed item to destroy, or an overactive ghost to try and calm down, heck even Vlad has a weakness we can exploit, we don’t know anything about this place. What if we don’t make it out of this one?”
“Come on Tucker,” Danny argued, his own confidence nothing but a mask, “It can’t be as bad as the haunted video game right? You die in the game you die in real life!”
Tucker didn’t laugh, “this is serious Danny, I know that dream had you messed up, but what if it was just that? A dream?”
“Or,” Sam cut in, “What if it’s a trap? Remember how Desiree tried to get us with that monkey’s paw when she realized we were getting involved with every scary story and urban legend in town and she didn’t want us to find out about her?”
There was also the time a ghost discovered Danny’s secret and decided to haunt him personally and make his life a living hell until he and Tucker were able to exorcise it. It had involved a gorilla, a lot of research into dead safari hunters, and one of his parent’s inventions that they rigged to do what they needed before destroying it so it couldn’t be used against Danny himself.
“We made it through all of those things together, remember when we first saw Cujo? And we thought he was to blame for Valerie’s mother?” Danny said.
Sam deflated, “and then we did research and discovered that Cu Sith only foretell death, not cause it… But Danny, we tried to research this place, remember? We found nothing. It’s like it doesn’t exist.”
“Yeah man,” Tucker scratched the back of his neck uncertain, “I couldn’t find so much as a blueprint. No building plans, nothing. The only thing we have to go on are stories from reckless kids trying and failing to spend the night.”
“You don’t have to follow me, the last thing I want is to put you both at risk. Especially after last time.”
Tucker groaned, “Danny you know we aren’t going to let you do this alone right? Especially not after Walker’s prison. Who knows what would have happened if we didn’t come in and save you?”
Danny smiled, “I probably would have starved to death to be fair, but yeah, I’ll try to avoid getting locked in any metal cages, deal?”
“To be fair,” Sam said, returning his smile with one of her own, strained though it was, “you probably would have died of thirst first.”
Chuckling at his friends' attempts to lighten the mood once they realized his mind wouldn’t be changed, Danny finally let himself look up at the place in question. It was a tall, crooked looking clocktower with old, brittle wood and peeling paint. In the low light of the evening it looked almost purple and with the dust and cobwebs covering it, it was clear no one had been inside for quite some time.
The Clocktower was a recurrent presence in his dreams, the ones he’d started having since the accident that made him the way he was: different from any person, but not quite anything else. It was always there in the background, but he’d never gone inside.
Once, during a particularly dull recurring dream where he relived the life and consequent death of a warehouse worker, he’d walked away from the endless piles of boxes and tried to go inside the clocktower instead. But no matter how far he traveled, it was always the same distance away. He just couldn’t get to it.
Danny couldn’t shake the feeling though, that something inside might have the answers he’s been searching for. So he stepped forward, and knocked on the door.
There was no answer, of course, and  Danny almost felt foolish doing it, but also, ghosts and spiritual beings all had their own rules and perceptions of what is or isn’t polite, most of which Danny had stumbled into learning the hard way, and it really didn’t hurt to check.
“No answer,” Sam said and Danny nodded, turning the handle. It was old and brass and when it turned it made a loud grinding noise that vibrated along his arm. But it did open, and without Danny needing to persuade it, so that had to be a good sign right?
Unless it really was a trap.
“Maybe we should leave someone outside, in case it really is like Walker’s prison.” He offered, but both of his friends shook their heads and stepped past him. It was dark, musty and smelled in a weird way, like a library. If a library had locked its doors and not let anyone enter for a good century or so.
Sam took the lead, her flashlight catching on unfamiliar shapes and shadows. “Do you know what we’re looking for?” she asked, her voice uncertain.
Danny shook his head, “Not really, just… answers.”
They looked around the ground floor at first, but if it held anything particularly supernatural or important, it wasn’t going to be found. “This just looks like my grandma's living room.” Tucker complained, taking the sheet off of one of the couches, “we need to go further in if we want to actually find something.”
He wasn’t wrong, Danny looked over to the spiralling staircase in the back of the room, and then to the other doors that surrounded it on the first floor. “It’s probably better to do this systemically right? Go through every room on each floor and move our way up?”
“You mean like in a video game?” Sam asked, “sure, we can do that.”
They started on the left, but that room wasn’t much better when it came to finding any kind of clues. It held a kitchen, a very old kitchen, with a stove and oven that Danny had only ever seen in period movies. But…
“Why does it smell like cookies?” Danny asked, turning to his friends who both looked at him like he was crazy.
“Cookies? Yo, Danny this place smells like straight up death. Not cookies.” Tucker said, backing away from the oven and starting to open up cabinets.
Sam rolled her eyes and did the same on the other side of the kitchen, “it doesn’t smell like death you dolt, it smells… like a graveyard.”
Danny walked to the middle of the room, towards the oven- he always made sure to be the one seeking out the more dangerous or suspicious things in the haunts they went to- while the two of them bickered. They tended to start these smaller, petty arguments when they were scared, it took the edge off.
“Duh?” Tucker said, and Danny heard him slam one of the cabinets shut, “graveyards are death? What does it smell like to you? Your Mom’s perfume?”
“No, it smells like someone dying, you know all hospital chemicals and gross stuff.”
There wasn’t anything in the oven, but oddly, Danny had felt a wave of warmth when he opened it. Almost like it had just been used. But, ghosts didn’t need to eat, right? And there couldn’t have been a person living here, they’d notice that. At least, Danny hopes they would notice that. After being in dozens of life or death scenarios hinging on whether they noticed important but minute details, they’d become pretty good at that kind of thing.
“Ugh! Don’t talk about hospitals, I’m still not over North Mercy, that was horrible,” Tucker turned to Danny, leaning on one of the counters and ignoring the cabinet he opened right behind his head. “What do you think death smells like Danny?”
Danny walked over and closed the cabinet, he didn’t want something to suddenly appear inside of it all twisted limbs and empty eyes or for something to crawl out and scare them, or even have it slam shut on Tuckers head, like some ghosts were known to do. He didn’t have to put much thought into his answer, “It smells like burnt flesh, electricity, and polished wood.”
Tucker paled, “oh… right. Sorry.”
He shrugged, “anything yet?”
“Not unless you count cobwebs, dust, and deteriorating cooking books,” Sam answered, walking over to both him and Tucker.
Danny looked around at the kitchen, it looked normal, even some dying light shone in from the one window along the outer wall. The only thing weird was the shape and that was because it was at the bottom of a spiralling clocktower. There was nothing particularly scary about the place, and frankly Danny didn’t know what to do with that.
“Let’s move on, this place is giving me the creeps,” Sam said, crossing the room and going to the next door.
Danny and Tucker followed, unwilling to be left behind, or to let her go on her own. The next room was the same size as the other two, but it had an extra window and was crammed absolutely full of books. Just books. Stacks and stacks of them where they didn’t fit on the shelves, which were completely packed themselves, and Danny had the thought that this was probably what he was smelling when they first walked in.
It was a library. A personal one, but without any room to sit or anything to sit on despite the genuinely impressive display of books and Danny found himself gently stroking his hand against the cover of a book on the top of the nearest stack, When Ghosts Speak: Understanding Earthbound Spirits.
“Please tell me we aren’t reading all of this,” Tucker whined. Danny frowned, why wouldn’t he want to read these? It was a treasure trove of information, these books could have countless, researched, answers to questions they’ve been asking since the start of everything!
What if one of these books could tell them why Amity Park seemed to attract the supernatural, why they seemed to gain power within the city’s boundaries, why Danny wasn’t dead. He wanted nothing more than to grab any one of these books, walk into the next room, with the couches and comfortable chairs, sit down and read and read until he found something, anything he could use.
These books might even be able to help him deal with the supernatural threats that plagued their town. Mostly they’ve been surviving through luck and half baked internet searches with the occasional trip to the town library. And while it had been enough so far, Danny was practically salivating at the thought of being properly, genuinely prepared for something for once.
“Of course we aren’t,” Sam said, dragging Danny out of his fantasies of maybe knowing what he was doing, “they’re completely deteriorated. If we even tried to open one it would probably fall apart.”
Danny frowned, and then looked down at the book he’d subconsciously grabbed. It didn’t seem as bad as Sam was describing, but he also didn’t want to risk it either. He’d realized early on there was a difference between what he was seeing and what was actually real. He set it down gently and looked around the rest of the room with his friends.
“Are we so sure this place is haunted?” Danny asked. By then, the sun had set entirely and the only light left was their flashlights. High powered and with fresh batteries they were still little use against the encroaching dark and Danny wanted to move on to the next floor already if he wasn’t going to be able to open a book.
Tucker stood up from behind a precariously leaning shelf and dusted himself off, “Dude you’re the one that said there was something here and we needed to investigate. Remember, like an hour ago when the two of us were trying to stop you from going inside?”
Danny scoffed, “that’s not what I mean.”
“What do you mean then?” Sam asked, stepping closer so she could meet his eyes. There was something in her expression, curiosity or suspicion, Danny couldn’t quite parse.
“I…” Danny stopped to think, what did he mean? Was it just that the place didn’t feel haunted? There wasn’t anything here trying to scare him away, no ominous winds or loud knocking, but they’ve gone into haunts before that took a long time to start actually reacting to them. “There’s no, I don’t know how to explain it. Usually when we go somewhere haunted, that a ghost has a claim to or whatever… there’s this feeling that I’m trespassing? I don’t feel like I’m trespassing here.”
That probably didn’t make any sense, and despite everything they didn’t usually act on Danny’s gut instincts as a group without evidence. The issue with the circus and it’s terrifying owner was a lesson too well learned after all.
True to expectations neither Sam nor Tucker looked convinced. They shared a quick ‘what now’ look between each other and Danny resisted taking a step back and sinking into the wall. Not that he could do that, as far as he knew he couldn’t do that. Only actual ghosts could do something like that and despite everything Danny was still human- well, still had a physical form.
Permanently.
“Let’s move on upstairs,” Sam reasoned, “if Danny’s right there won’t be any harm in it, and if he’s not we’ll find out once whatever’s here starts actually reacting to us, right?”
Perfectly reasonable and logicked as always. Danny nodded and walked to the next door, if he was right it would lead into the room they had first entered with the staircase that twisted and climbed higher and higher into the heart of the tower. That was the next place to go. He knew that.
Tucker gently patted his shoulder as they walked towards the base of the stairs, “yeah, maybe the ghost doesn’t consider this bottom part his haunt? Maybe he just likes the clock on top?”
Danny smiled, “like the hunchback of Notre Dame?”
Smiling back, Tucker nodded, “exactly! Oh man, we gotta find out if that guy is real one of these days.”
“We have our hands a bit tied with Amity Park without going after disney characters,” Sam said, pushing the two of them from behind so they’d actually go up the stairs. “Now let's get a move on, I want to be back home before breakfast so my parents don’t realize I snuck out again.”
There was something Danny could say but he bit back the comment about how at least her parents would notice and quickly walked up the stairs instead. As soon as his feet touched the first step a bubbly feeling lifted in his chest, and it made him want to go higher as fast as he could there was someone up there waiting for him-
“Danny!” Sam called out, grabbing him by the arm, “calm down!”
Her grip on his arm was tight and Danny looked down to see what had her panicked only to find his feet had left the stairs entirely and he’d started floating upwards instead of walking. Like a human. Like his friends. Like what he was supposed to be.
He swallowed and let himself sink back down, forcing the feeling in his chest back as much as he could. It was like trying to kill the fizz in a shaken soda by screwing a cap back on it and he struggled with it for a moment. He’d never felt like this before- sure, most ghosts and other supernatural entities tended to broadcast emotions to a higher degree than humans, and with them also being natural empaths and Danny’s unfortunate situation it often led to him being overtaken by emotions that weren’t necessarily his own.
It’s just, they’ve never been this overwhelmingly positive before.
Even with Vlad, as human as he was, his emotions were always tinted with obsession and desperation. His need to have Danny and his mother for his own colored every interaction he’d had with the man and it often left a bitter, strained feeling in his chest. Right now, Danny felt almost giddy. And he wasn’t even sure it wasn’t just his own emotions, reacting to the environment around him. It was a nice environment after all.
But Danny was good at ignoring things like that.
“My bad. I’ll try and keep my feet on the ground from now on.”
Sam looked conflicted, “Danny you know we don’t mind you using your powers,” Danny nodded, they’d told him so many times over and over again, “But we don’t want to lose you to them. You promised to stay with us, remember?”
Danny smiled, “I remember. I won’t end up like that, I promised. That’s why we’re here right? To stop it?”
Sam nodded and let him go.
The second floor was similar to the first, in that it had three rooms leading into each other with the spiral staircase in the center. Danny started with the door on the right. It was a study. There was a desk, paperwork, and a bottle of ink with a quill and Danny found himself wondering just how old this clocktower really was. And how long it had been since its occupant was truly here, alive, if ever.
They split up and started looking around, eagerness exposed in their movements. This was the most likely place to have something useful, especially if whoever spent their time here was as studious as the lower floor suggested.  Danny went for the desk.
There was a note on it, in perfect, looped handwriting and the ink was still glistening, fresh from the bottle if the smell had anything to say about it. Danny ran his hand across the words hoping to smudge it, but it had dried already, if barely.
It’s nice to meet you, little anomaly.
Danny grit his teeth.
“Guys,” he called out, holding the paper, “It knows we’re here.”
Sam and Tucker rushed over, and Sam grabbed the paper from his hand to read for herself. “Little anomaly? Isn't that kind of insensitive?”
“Yeah,” Tucker agreed, “you just have weird ghost powers right? Vlad’s the same way it’s not like you’re the only person on the planet like you.”
Hesitant to correct him, Danny bit his tongue. It was true that Vlad was a person who had unfortunately gained the abilities of a ghost, things like floating, making objects move with his mind or using his spirit to control people while he slept safe and sound at home. And he’d gained them in a similar way to Danny as well, trusting the wrong people and delving into things he never fully understood and still didn’t.
It was just … less true for Danny was all.
But he wasn’t going to tell them that, he wasn’t going to tell anyone that. So how did whoever, or whatever this was, know? Or was it just saying things to get under his skin, that was pretty par for the course when it came to ghosts. So why wasn’t it doing anything else? Trying to get them to leave? Was Sam right? Was it really a trap this entire time? What would happen if they went back downstairs and tried the door, would it open?
He grabbed the paper and shoved it into one of his jackets pockets, there was plenty of time to freak out over it later after all. “Let’s keep looking around, there has to be something here that it’s trying to distract us from.”
Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything more useful than there had been downstairs. Just what one would expect from a normal office. What papers he did find had detailed extensive notes, yes. But they were in a language Danny couldn’t read and neither Sam nor Tucker even recognized. It was infuriating!
Almost like whoever was haunting this place, was telling them it had all the answers they wanted but wouldn’t give them any. He just wanted to know how - Danny shook his head. There had to be something. He wouldn’t have been led all the way here, had all those dreams, if there was nothing he could do at all.
He threw one more frustrated look around the office before he threw the stack of papers he’d been digging through on the floor and marched over to the next door. It was unlocked, again, just like all of the others and it only served to increase Danny’s frustration.
“Wait, Danny,” Sam noticed him leaving and quickly followed, the door slammed shut behind them, locking Tucker inside the office.
“No,” he whispered, this was all his fault, he shouldn’t have let this ghost get in his head like this! He never should have let his emotions take him over, he knew better. It led to bad things. Horrible, terrible, things.
There was a loud bang on the door, someone was pounding against it and Danny flinched. Was the actual haunting finally starting? Was everything really just a way to lure them deeper into the tower and away from each other?
“Guys?” he heard Tucker call out from the other side of the door, “did you seriously just leave me behind? Don’t we have like, a rule against that?!”
Danny sighed in relief, it was just Tucker. “Are you okay Tuck? Did anything happen over there when the door shut? Any oozing walls or flying papers-”
There was another thump, probably Tucker banging his head against the door, “I know what to look for Danny I’ve been doing this the exact same amount of time as you.”
“Yeah yeah,” Danny acquessed. “Just get to the stairs and we’ll meet you there.”
He exchanged a glance with Sam, she was glaring a hole into the side of his head and he felt guilty for being the cause of everything going wrong, again. So he apologized and ignored her exaggerated eye roll when she said he should have known better, because well, he did. But what was he going to do, apologize twice?
The room they were in was a simple one, likely some kind of storage space that he and Sam could dig through for hours on end, but it was more important to get to Tucker than to try and make sure they didn’t miss anything.
Which, in hindsight, was probably exactly why they’d been separated.
A cold breeze tickled at Danny’s hair and he felt himself relax despite it all. It felt nice, the cold, and Danny liked when the haunts they went to leaned towards the chillier side like this. Sometimes, especially if Vlad was involved, it felt like he was walking into an overwarm swamp when he entered a haunt and it made him itchy and uncomfortable the entire time. Vlad never seemed to notice, and his friends complain equally about both, so Danny had mostly kept it to himself.
The entire tower felt nice, cold dry air, the smell of books, ink, and cookies, even the playful, excited feeling that seemed to permeate throughout the tower. Like someone had designed it to appeal in every way to both sides of Danny’s instincts.
It was unnerving.
He followed Sam out of the room and back into the middle where the stairs were, but Tucker wasn’t there.
Sam pulled out her phone, and Danny held his breath as it rang, once, twice, and then a click and Tucker’s familiar, annoyed voice came through the speaker and Danny sighed in relief. “Uh guys? I couldn’t get out the door so I tried to climb out a window, and there was uh, a ladder. So I’m outside right now. Come get me?”
Danny met eyes with Sam and nodded, they headed back down, “we’re coming Tuck,” he said.
“Cool, cool, actually rather than coming to get me, can we just go home? Come back later, like in the day time? How come we never do these things in the daytime?”
“You know that’s not how ghosts work Tucker.” Sam said, bored, as they walked to the front door. Danny felt a tug, something like a hand on his shoulder and turned to see what was behind him. There wasn’t anything there.
He turned back around to see that Sam had already walked outside, and was holding the door open for him, one of her eyebrows raised. Awkwardly, Danny jogged a little, so as to not hold them up too long. But before he could actually walk outside the door slammed shut.
Sam screamed.
“Danny! Are you okay!” Tucker asked, his voice panicked and muffled from the other side of the door.
“I’m fine,” Danny said, gritting his teeth and turning around. The room didn’t look or feel any different. There was nothing screaming at him to get out or anything else malicious. If anything it seemed even cosier than before, and Danny didn’t really know how to react to that.
He looked back at the door. There was a way, no. He couldn’t do that. Danny pinched at the bridge of his nose, the only thing to do, really, was to see who had invited him in. That’s what it was right? Some kind of weird ghostly invite?
“I’m going to go check upstairs,” he called out to his friends before walking back towards the staircase.
They pounded on the door, “Danny don’t you dare go up there without us! Just wait, we’ll find a way in! It’s dangerous alone!”
Ignoring their protests Danny took the stairs two steps at a time, fighting the rising excitement in his chest and firmly planting his feet against the polished wood. There were answers waiting for him, he knew there were. He just had to find them.
The third floor had a bedroom, it was nice, cozy and the bed even looked inviting. Danny didn’t bother to stay long. Whoever it was that called him here wasn’t in this room, nor were they in the next or the one after that. Just two bedrooms and a bathroom on that floor and Danny quickly made his way to the next.
This room was different from the rest. For one there were windows, everywhere, that seemed to play different scenes of different people from all over the world. If Danny strained his ears, he could even hear them speaking different languages. On the other side from the windows was an entire wall of clockwork that chimed and churned as the gears moved, keeping the face of the clock on the outside ticking along in sync with the rest of the world.
When Danny stepped into the room properly the carpet sunk easily underneath his feet and he felt a nice, cold breeze that came from a purple flamed fire housed properly in a fireplace in the middle of the room. He hadn’t even noticed a chimney from outside.
There was a man in front of the fire. He was tall and hooded and he carried an equally tall and gnarled staff in one of his gloved hands. Danny felt himself freeze, he had never seen a ghost this solid before. There was always a little bit of transparency, no matter how powerful, they didn’t have physical forms afterall. Not like Danny.
“Who are you?” he asked. His voice was dry and soft and Danny was thankful when it didn’t crack on his question. How embarrassing would that have been?
The man turned around, his face changing as he did from old and aged to a younger one, closer to his parent’s age, a large jagged scar marking it’s way through one of his eyes and down his cheek. He smiled, “I am Clockwork, Master of time. All that was, All that is, and All that will be. I understand you have many questions for me. I hope to answer them.”
A thousand questions ran rapidly through his mind, why did you call me here? Did you call me here? Why get rid of my friends? What are you and why haven’t I seen anything like you before?
“How do I prevent myself from becoming that.” Danny asked the most pressing question first, desperate. The man-ghost-Clockwork, sighed and gestured for him to sit. There was a comfortable looking couch with an equally comfortable chair across from it and a plate of cookies set on an elegantly carved coffee table between the two.
“That’s easily answered, sit, have a cookie.” Clockwork floated over, crossing his legs and settling into the chair before grabbing a cookie for himself.
Danny glanced at them, uncertain, before taking a seat. The couch was even more comfortable than it looked and he found himself sinking back into it, confused. The room was a nice, cold, temperature as well, despite the fire clearly burning in the fireplace.
He grabbed one of the cookies, “can I eat these?” he asked, looking over at his host.
“Of course,” Clockwork smiled, taking a bite of his own before leaning back, “I made them for you. Though your friends would have to be more careful, I’m not sure what food like this would do to a human.”
“I am human,” Danny argued, placing the cookie back on its plate. He had to, denial was all he had left at this point.
Clockwork frowned, “yes, well, I suppose we’ll get there next. You wanted to know about your dreams.”
Finally, Danny nodded, “they’re different ever since- uh well… ever since the incident.”
“It’s natural to not want to talk about one’s death,” Clockwork said, he leaned forward and tilted his head, “or one’s birth.”
“My dreams,” Danny asked, avoiding that conversation with all the grace of a blind hippo, “why are they different. You know right?”
Sighing, Clockwork nodded and leaned back, “yes, I know everything. They’re different, frankly, because they’re dreams. It’s unsettling to you because it’s new, you’ve never dreamed before.”
Danny scowled, “that doesn’t make any sense, I had plenty of dreams when-”
Clockwork interrupted him, disappointment plain under his hood, “You can lie to your friends Daniel, but I already know the truth. Just as you do.”
“I was astral projecting. Like what Vlad does… but then why-?” Danny bit his tongue. He couldn’t say it, not outloud. It was too difficult, he’d spent too long hiding it, pushing it away and doing everything he could to keep anyone from noticing.
“Why can’t you do it anymore?” Clockwork answered for him, Danny nodded. “The simple answer is that you aren’t like Vladimir, despite what he believes and would like you to believe as well. But that’s something else you already know. Ask me a question you don’t have the answers for.”
Danny grabbed another cookie, biting into it fiercely just to have an excuse not to speak. It tasted really good, better than anything he’d had in a while and Danny wondered if maybe there was something in it meant to sate his less human cravings. The thought didn’t help his inner turmoil.
Clockwork smiled softly at him though and sighed, “Fine, in order to answer your question, first I have one of my own.”
“Didn’t you just say you know everything?” Danny mumbled before shoving more cookie in his mouth.
“What good is a teacher that only lectures?” Clockwork said in retort, “do you remember how you died?”
He did, of course he did. “Kinda hard to forget that. Lab accident, electrocution, nothing fancy.” he said, curling in on himself. Clockwork had been right before, it was painful to talk about. But he wanted, no, needed the answers to his questions. He’d survive this.
“Well, that’s where your first mistake lies. Yes, that is what stopped your heart, and likely the most memorable part, but you didn’t die from that Daniel. What killed you came after.”
Danny frowned, “that doesn’t make any sense? What happened after?”
“Your spirit was never particularly bound to your body in the first place, likely due to your parents dabbling where they shouldn’t for as long as they did before you were ever born. There was a summoning, I think you remember, that your parents were holding when your accident happened on the floor below them.”
It was frustrating, that he was right. That he knew it. “I remember them recognizing me, my spirit. I remember them finding my body and shoving me back in. I remember the pain, and waking up and seeing-” Danny choked on the realization. It couldn’t be...
“Seeing the world in your dreams?” Clockwork asked, “the way you saw it when you were a spirit, free from the confines of your body, correct?” He floated over the table, sat next to Danny, and placed a hand on his back. Danny realized he had been shaking.
He grabbed the fabric of his jeans in a tight grip and tried to stop, “It’s all real, right? It isn’t… I’m not still dreaming? Please, I need to know.”
The hand on his back pulled him close, tucked into Clockwork’s side and Danny felt comforted despite himself, he fought to blink away tears that had been building behind his eyes as he tucked himself into Clockwork’s side. He was so solid, unlike any other ghost Danny had ever met and he seemed to radiate comfort where most just gave off fear and hurt.
“You’re not dreaming Daniel, you never were. The world is different when you see it  through our eyes, that is all. When you woke up, you weren’t human anymore. Of course you wouldn’t be limited by a human’s sight.”
Danny curled into himself tighter, despair clouding around him and likely leeching unpleasantly into the air. It would be a wonder if Clockwork didn’t feel it. “So I’m a ghost.”
“Hardly,” Clockwork said and Danny stopped breathing, “Do you think the world is so simple it is split between what is ghostly and what is not?”
“I…” Danny had actually assumed that. So far everything they’d dealt with so far, short of Vlad, had either been a ghost or spirit of some kind, or a human that used magic or ghostly artifacts. Even Vlad had simply been a person who had learned how to control his own spirit the way a ghost would. If Danny wasn’t a human, and he wasn’t a ghost, then what was he?
Clockwork ruffled his hair, “I suppose you’re young. It is easier, afterall, to think of it that way. But Daniel, ghosts don’t have physical forms. They can possess one, or control one, and sometimes even mimic one, but they are spirits.”
He sighed, “you are something entirely different. You’re something remarkable.”
Danny leaned back, using the sleeves of his hoodie to quickly dry his tears so he could look Clockwork in the eye, “What am I?”
“You’re new.”
Danny shoved him, “Agghh, I knew that you jerk!” It was probably a bad idea to attack or antagonize someone as clearly powerful and knowledgeable as Clockwork, but really he’d been asking for it. And Danny’s patience was only so strong.
Clockwork didn’t fight him back though, nor did he get offended. Instead he just smiled that soft smile that Danny was starting to realize was affection, and said, “did you? Weren’t you trying to read my books to find out if there was anyone else like you?”
“Well yeah-” Danny stopped, “Oh. There wouldn’t be anything would there? If I’m the first?”
He groaned, that really was just his luck. He’d never figure out anything at this rate. Clockwork, the bastard, just hummed and grabbed another cookie, offering it to him. “No there wouldn’t. But you’re not the only one who was the first or only of their kind. Who had to figure out on their own, who and what they are.”
“You mean Vlad?” Danny asked, the thought left a sour taste in his mouth, wow he really hoped he didn’t mean Vlad.
Clockwork’s smile turned brittle, “I don’t mean Vlad.”
Danny chuckled, his thoughts turning mischievous, “I don’t know, he seems pretty unique, what with all those different abilities he has and the way he can choose to be human or ghost-”
“Oh please,” Clockwork interrupted, “there’s plenty of humans like Vladimir Masters, you were fully capable of astral projecting like that from birth, no black magic necessary. Just because he found a way to twist-”
He stopped, then looked down at Danny who was trying and failing to hold back a shit eating grin. All at once the air seemed to leave him and he deflated, the irritated look on his face replaced with open and honest affection and Danny felt it sing in the air around them.
“You were messing with me.”
“To be fair I didn’t think it would work, all knowing and everything.” Danny said, unable to fight the bubbling feeling in his chest as it rose to meet the affection around them. Usually it sucked having the empathy of a ghost and being near one or at least, something with the same traits. The negative emotions tended to bounce between him and them and amplify and it always made Danny struggle to parse his own emotions from theirs. But right now, in the top of a clock tower with the most powerful entity Danny had ever met, he felt happiness and joy to a degree he’d long forgotten. It was dizzying. He was almost giddy with it.
Clockwork patted him on the head, purposefully messing his hair, “yes well. I think in time, it will be more obvious just how different you truly are, how crucial every small coincidence was that came together that night to create you. But until then, you had another question? I can answer it now.”
Danny frowned as he realized what Clockwork meant, “You! I asked that question first! How did you only answer the one you wanted to!!”
“It was important,” Clockwork said, relaxing into the couch next to Danny, “to answer that question I had to be sure you knew what you were.”
He sputtered, “But I don’t?! I’m just something new! Something different!”
“Something physical that exists with the laws of the spiritual.”
“Yeah!” Danny said, “Wait, what?”
Clockwork nodded his head, “a physical entity that exists within the realms of spiritual possibility. It must be such a struggle, to deal with both sets of instincts like that.”
Danny’s head hurt, it was too much to try and understand the details of all of this. Maybe Tucker was right and he should just have let it be, learn to live with the new normal his life was now. Wasn’t that kind of what Clockwork was suggesting anyways? Then again, unlike Tucker, he did seem to thrive off of all of Danny’s questions, whether he actually answered them or not.
“Yeah, I have to fight my more ghostly instincts all the time. It’s exhausting.” he said, leaning into Clockwork. It should have been embarrassing, seeking comfort like that, but he’d already cried into his shoulder and there wasn’t really any way to come back from that so Danny did as he pleased.
He felt Clockwork’s hand return to his back, a solid comforting presence, “Now why would you do that?”
Danny tilted his head in confusion, “what do you mean?”
“Why would you fight against one half of yourself so thoroughly? But embrace the other side entirely?” Clockwork elaborated. “Did you think there wouldn’t be any consequences in fighting against your nature?”
“But,” Danny struggled to speak, pieces of the puzzle he’d thought hopeless putting themselves together in ways he had never expected and didn’t quite understand, “my nature is bad.”
Clockwork frowned and turned to look at Danny properly, “Daniel, it’s your nature. There is nothing good or bad about it. It is only as it is. Everything is as it’s meant to be.”
This was too much, Danny sat up fully and turned entirely towards Clockwork, “are you saying, the way I become that thing from my nightmare, is by… doing what I’ve been doing to avoid becoming that thing?!”
“Yes,” Clockwork answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
He blinked, the answer really couldn’t be that easy. “But in my dream, I, my instincts-”
Clockwork grabbed a cookie and placed it in his hands, “even humans react poorly, when they starve themselves. As you exist now, you simply need a different kind of sustenance. One you’ve been denying.”
Danny felt dread crawl down the length of his spine, “what kind of sustenance?”
“Spirits exist for reasons, and they exist differently from humans. In order to keep existing they need emotions, experiences, something to keep them held together. A spirit that has no reason to exist will simply disappear, you’ve seen such before it is relatively common after all. But you can’t do that, since you are physical in a way that they are not. You can starve yourself endlessly, into madness even if you’re desperate enough.”
“I do it to myself?” Danny asked, flustered and frustrated. It was true then? He really was his own worst enemy?
Clockwork shook his head, “it is not inevitable Daniel. As you were, it was the most likely path forward. Yes. You would have noticed the symptoms, seen yourself losing control and then, in reaction, suppressed yourself further. Starved yourself further.”
Danny cringed, yeah, that sounded like him. “How do I stop it then? I just embrace what makes me ghostly? What about my parents? If they think they failed the resurrection, that I’m not human anymore, they’ll kill me for real! Or worse!”
“That is indeed troublesome, and the paths of the future where they know your truth are twisted and sharp, every small decision every tiny change causing a greater effect on their reactions as a whole. But you do not need to reveal yourself to your parents to live your truth.”
Relieved, Danny fell back into the couch. He hadn’t even noticed he’d floated off of it, was that good? Bad? He shook his head, this was all too confusing. “How then?” He asked, maybe this time he’d actually get a straight answer.
Clockwork ruffled his hair and stood up, er, well, floated up and over towards the fire. “You continue doing what you’re doing with your friends, protecting your town and interacting with the truth of the world around you. And…” He turned around, “you can come visit me. It’s quite lonely in the clock tower they trapped me in, and there is much I can teach you about becoming. I had to learn such things about myself once after all.”
“You’ll let me come back? To visit you?” Danny didn’t know what to say. He could come visit, ask more questions, get more answers. It seemed too good to be true, and Danny found himself eager and excited at the prospect.
For some reason, the entire conversation, he’d thought this would be a one time thing. That the clocktower would disappear behind him and leave any question he didn’t ask unanswered. To find out that wasn’t the case, that he had somehow, against all odds, made some kind of ghostly ally, was beyond expectations. “You’ll help me?”
The answering smile had Danny floating out of his seat, “Of course Daniel. I’ll even bake cookies.”

Matenrou 2nd DRB Drama Track Translation, Pt1
Next
(Buster Bros!!! Drama Track Translation)
Yoo, back at it again with Matenrou! That title is stupidly long so I’m not subjecting us all to that. This portion will cover up until 8:46.
I’m sure everyone and their grandma has read the full translation someone did on Twitter, but when I was reading through there were some things I didn’t really agree with. It might just be interpreter bias. Anyway, I hope this meets everyone’s expectations like Buster Bros!!! did!
Jakurai: Hey Hifumi-kun.
Hifumi: What up! Please, sit down. I’ll put some tea out.
Jakurai: If it’s not an issue.
Hifumi: Hm?
Jakurai: What’s wrong?
Hifumi: No, it’s nothing.
Doppo: Sorry you went out of your way to come here. This is a good place in case Hifumi and I bother you.
Jakurai: I’ve already finished my work for today so please don’t worry. Speaking of, Doppo-kun.
Doppo: Yes?
Jakurai: Do you know Dr. Yamabushi of Shinjuku’s second largest hospital?
Doppo: Yes, of course. Yesterday I introduced him to a product.
Jakurai: I heard some conversation about you from Dr. Yamabushi.
Doppo: W-Was it bad?
Jakurai: No, it’s actually the opposite.
Doppo: Eh?
Jakurai: He said you were very polite, and that the explanation about how to use the product was wonderful.
Doppo: Aa…r-really?
Hifumi: Heh? That’s super lucky Doppo!
Doppo: Ah, but I’m sure it’s definitely a fluke…
Hifumi: *sigh* That backwards energy isn’t good!
Jakurai: Doppo-kun, this result is because of how you treat the work you do. You should try to acknowledge yourself a little more.
Doppo: I-I-I’ll make an effort to fix it.
Hifumi By the way, Sensei. You had something that you wanted to talk about?
Jakurai: This arrived regarding the Division Rap Battle preliminaries.
Hifumi: It’s already that season?
Doppo: In one month? That’s not a lot of time.
Jakurai: Let’s all do our best.
Hifumi: Hmm…
Jakurai: What is it, Hifumi-kun? You’re staring at my face.
Hifumi: Aah, Sensei.
Jakurai: Hm?
Hifumi: I feel like you’re super unenergetic. Did something happen?
Jakurai: Ahaha, I just can’t compete with Hifumi-kun. As expected of a pro’s job is to pay attention to others.
Hifumi: Sensei, didn’t we talk about this? We’re the team that makes friends with destiny! If you hold things back, it’s gonna interfere with our teamwork. So please talk about whatever it is.
Doppo: I-I also have a little power to offer. I’ll do my best!
Jakurai: Thank you, you two. Let’s say, for example, your loved one was in danger. If you save that person, it would make a lot of people unhappy. What would you do?
Doppo: That’s a really difficult problem huh.
Hifumi: If it were me…I’d save my loved one!
Doppo: I’m the same. For example, if it were Hifumi and Sensei, or my parents and my little brother that were in danger, I think I’d do anything to save them.
Jakurai: Is…that so? I see.
Hifumi: But if it’s Sensei, you can probably save both sides!
Doppo: Even if it’s unfair, Sensei is certainly able to turn it around. That’s what I think.
Jakurai: I’m not a superman you know.
Hifumi: You may say you’re not, but if the people around you think you’re Superman then you’ve already become Superman.
Doppo: People’s evaluations come from the judgements of those around them. Hah…It’s a good example of my company.
Jakurai: So no matter how much I do, I won’t be able to change the evaluations of the people around me. Whether that’s good or bad…I’m glad that I talked with you two.
(Scene shift: Jakurai walking back)
Jakurai: Superman, huh? Yotsutsuji-kun, Hitoya, even Amemura-kun…I have to settle this quickly.
(Scene shift: Doppo’s office)
Ogura: Morning.
Mitsuya: Yo, Kannonzaka!
Doppo: You’re lively this morning huh?
Ogura: You had a pretty significant achievement lately huh?
Doppo: Just by chance. Besides, your achievements are probably better. At any rate, I’ll be in the past soon.
Mitsuya: You’re negative as usual.
Ogura: You put in an amazing effort, so I think you should feel a little more proud.
Mitsuya: That’s right! If you’re putting this much out in under half a year, it’s not weird for money to just appear!
Doppo: Mitsuya…you’re always too busy talking about money.
*door opens*
Ogura: Oh, Balding Boss is coming this way.
Boss: Kannonzaka-kun.
Doppo: W-What is it?
Boss: You are dismissed today.
(Scene shift: Chuohku)
Nemu: The Division Rap Battle Qualifiers will begin. It’s good that the world is excited, but this is the time to become cautious. It’s small, but various places have a rebellion moving, and it’s getting closer. Hm? A rebellion in the North? Honobono-san should’ve taken care of this directly, yet I haven’t received the report. Ha…I’ll have to ask her directly. *dials phone*
Worker: Chouku Criminal Bureau.
Nemu: Thank you for your work. This is Nemu Aohitsugi with the Administrative Inspection Burea. Please connect me to Keitouin-san.
Worker: I’m very sorry. Captain Keitouin is in Shinjuku for other matters.
Nemu: *thinking* Shinjuku..? Is that so? I’ll try again. *hangs up phone*
*Flashback*
Honobono: Eh? Hifumi Izanami? *giggle* I’d be interested in meeting up.
*Flashback ends*
Nemu: I can’t overlook this. We can’t have any problems before the Battle. First, I’ll report this to Ichijiku-san.
(Scene shift: Doppo’s office)
Doppo: Eh? D…Dismissed?
Boss: Right. You are fired. Now get out of here!
Doppo: T-That…R-Reason…Please let me hear the reason!
Boss: Dr. Yamabushi of Shinjuku’s second largest hospital. Do you understand now that I’ve said that?
Doppo: N-No…wh-what’s going on?
Boss: I got contact from Dr. Yamabushi. It appears the equipment that you delivered had dangerous malfunctions! If Dr. Yamabushi hadn’t checked like he does every day, a patient could have been seriously hurt or worse, died! This could have been a serious accident! Such an error is not possible at the manufacturing plant. In other words, the only one who could have tampered with the information is you!
Doppo: T-That! I didn’t do anything!
Ogura: Kannonzaka would never do such a thing!
Mitsuya: That’s right! I think you should investigate this properly!
Boss: Shut up! You’re planning on defending this brainless, good for nothing, piece of trash human?! Return to work quickly! No more fooling around with this space debris criminal!
Doppo: W…Why…Why did this happen…
(Scene shift: Chuohku)
Ichijiku: Enter!
Otome: It’s been a while, Jinguji-san.
Jakurai: It’s been a while, Prime Minister
Otome: Now then, I’m ready to receive your reply.
Jakurai: I…

My Cheating Amnesic Fiancé
Chapter 4: The Accident
He didn't follow you. But you knew he had seen your tears. You attempted to wipe them away as you hurried out of the stadium. You didn't know why you were crying. You should be shouting in glee and celebrate Jungkook's betrayal. You were free.
Why then, did it hurt so much?
Se-Eun’s face immediately turned serious when she saw you, and she silenced her tired, irritated mother and Min-Ji and Yeon-Woo. Something in your expression must have warned her and the others not to speak to you, for they remained quiet the whole ride home. Se-Eun’s mother made sure to drop you off first even though the ride to Gangnam would take the longest in addition to being a detour from the stadium.
“Call you tomorrow?” Se-Eun asked after you thanked her mother. Her eyes held concern.
“Sure,” you told her as you exited the car. You found yourself sounding much harsher than you had wanted, so you added, “thank you very much for the ride.”
Her mother nodded with a face so similar to Se-Eun’s that, when you had first met her, you had thought they were far-apart sisters. She was quite young too, having become a mother at 22. “You sure you don't want to sleep at ours? I know it's school tomorrow, but Se-Eun told me your parents are in Japan and would be there until next week.”
“I'll be alright,” you said quickly. “I'm used to it.” You obviously didn't feel like hanging out at the moment. Even though Se-Eun was more tactful than most, she wouldn't be able to stop herself from asking you what had happened.
And you definitely didn't want to have a repeat of Jungkook’s not-really-yet-actual infidelity. Although, it wasn't as if you could talk about it even if you wanted to.
“See you!” Se-Eun and the others said. You could see the curiosity brimming over in her friends’ eyes.
You managed a weak smile. “Yeah.”
It was empty in your parents' apartment. A note on the refrigerator door reminded you that they were away on a combined work and vacation trip in Osaka together with Jungkook’s parents. All four of them were gone until Saturday. That meant that if you told your parents now, Jungkook's parents would also know and they would have six days to argue.
You hesitated to dial your dad. Perhaps you should tell him and your mom face to face. Although that wasn't really a valid excuse since there was something as simple as a facecam option on KakaoTalk. Still, you found yourself reluctant to make the call.
With a tired exhale, you went to rummage your cupboards for a packet of noodles. You had missed dinner due to Se-Eun’s sudden invitation and your stomach had given up growling hours ago. Also, you just felt like eating something bad.
You refused to acknowledge the reason why, though.
While you waited for the water to boil, you readied a tray with chopsticks, a spoon, some water and a tiny serving of kimchi, so you could bring the food to the living room. You were used to eating alone. When your grandparents on your father’s side had been alive, you had almost always dined with them whenever your parents were away. It was the least they could do after having grown too old to travel, thus passing on the responsibility of being the head representative of Phoenix Inc. to your father. But ever since your grandma had passed and your grandpa had become sick due to his grief before slowly slipping away five years ago, you had dealt with food yourself. You had never known your grandparents on your mother’s side, for they had passed before you were born, and none of your other relatives lived even nearby Seoul.
It didn't matter much, though. Loneliness had been your companion through life as far back as you could remember. The curse of fortune, you reckoned.
You placed the square of noodles into the steaming hot water and poured the packets of spices and dried vegetables in after. The tiny screen on the microwave said 23:31. You would hate yourself for eating that late into the night instead of sleeping, especially since you were supposed to go to school tomorrow at eight in the morning. But as you stirred everything around, watching the noodles and the vegetables soften and the clear water turn reddish, you found yourself feeling eerily awake.
You reluctantly recalled the expression on Jungkook’s face. It had almost seemed like he had wanted to add something to your conversation. Something vital. What could it have been? He wasn't stupid enough to think he could get away with a girlfriend while being engaged to another, was he? No, you didn't think so. There had to be a reason - no matter how bad or unexpected - why he decided to remain with you if now his heart belonged to her.
“Stop it,” you mumbled underneath your breath. “Get him out of your head, he's not worth spending brainpower over. Just call your parents tomorrow morning, since they’re probably sleeping now anyways. Let them handle this poor investment of their only daughter.”
Your voice sounded bitter. Your face probably looked bitter. But hey, at least you were out of a potentially devastating marriage. You didn't know what you would have done if you found out about Park Yi-Jae after the walk to the altar. Let's just say, a packet of noodles in the middle of the night would have been the least of your concerns.
You were seated in front of your TV, absentmindedly flipping through channels when you finally felt sleep creep over your eyelids and body. Your saucepan had cooled since long and your glass of water had been emptied and filled, twice. Turning the TV off, you headed toward the kitchen with your dishes when an unexpected sound pierced through the silence.
Ring, ring, ring.
It was your phone. You darted the last meters into the kitchen, having forgotten the phone on the kitchen island, and picked it up. You didn't recognize the number.
Why would someone call you in the middle of the night?
Scratch that, it was past the middle of the night, you realized as you eyed your microwave. However, there wasn't really that much time for you to think, so you, without considering the possibilities, simply answered.
“Hello?” you said hesitantly.
“Er...” a low, male voice began. “Who is this?”
“Shouldn't you know since you called?” you parried, instantly growing suspicious. The person sounded vaguely familiar, though you couldn't put your finger on who it was.
“Well, it’s the only number I haven't already called on this phone and it doesn't exactly say the proper name of a person.”
You frowned. “What?”
You suddenly heard some voices in the background near you - or rather, the speaker on the other line - and you discerned, “He actually cracked the code!” and “Who are you talking to?” until finally: “Taehyung, give me the phone.”
There was some rough scratching in your ear. Your frown deepened when another male’s voice spoke to you.
“This is Kim Sejin, one of the head managers of the Bangtan Boys.”
“Okay?” you said slowly.
“Are you related to or friends with Jeon Jungkook?”
“I wouldn't say either of those applies,” you answered, feeling cold at the mere mention of his name. “But I do know a guy with that name, who just happens to be in Bangtan.”
The voice sighed. It was a long, weary exhale, and suddenly you tensed.
Suddenly, you knew something was terribly wrong.
“There… there has been a severe accident. If you could come to Asan Medical Center as soon as possible, that would be very helpful. Do you need help getting here?”
You simply stood there, numb.
An accident?
“What kind of accident?” you heard yourself ask.
“It'll be easier to explain once you're on place,” said Sejin impatiently. “When can you get here?”
“I... I can be there in twenty if traffic is good,” you heard yourself say.
“I'll meet you at the front desk.”
The whole ride there, you were so concerned you couldn't even sit still. You hadn't even bothered calling your parents chauffeur. The cab driver gave you odd looks while you fidgeted, scratched your arm and did and undid your hair. You couldn't care less that you looked like you had taken a dose of something, and something cheap and really poorly made at that. You were too busy worrying.
What had happened? Why was Jungkook at the hospital? No matter how much you enjoyed seeing him lose his composure or fumble, you would never even consider wanting him hurt. Not even once, not even a little. It didn't matter what he had done to you - you would never ever, ever wish harm upon Jeon Jungkook. Scumbag and cheater aside, he was the son of your parents' closest friends - and one of few constants that existed in your life. Even if he was an unfriendly one.
Also, there was that one time when you were both children that you had yet to repay him for.
After paying the driver, you sprinted into the main doors of AMC. A middle-aged man in quite a good physique stood by the front desk and furrowed his brows at your abrupt entrance until recognition lighted his eyes.
“(Y/F/N)?” Creases appeared in his forehead, and he raised an eyebrow. “Was it you I was speaking with?”
“Yes,” you quickly replied. “Though don't say my name too loudly.”
There were a surprisingly low amount of visitors or patients, though considering the time of the day - or were you supposed to say night? - perhaps it wasn't that odd. Yet, considering the guy hospitalized, you had expected some kind of paparazzi.
“Pleasure meeting you finally,” the man said and reached out his hand. “If only the situation had been different, I might have actually meant it. I'm Kim Sejin.”
“Likewise, and yes, I figured. Where is the media?” you asked after shaking his hand. His hand was heavy, calloused. “Shouldn't they be here, being vultures or parasites or whatever else they call journalism?”
Sejin let out a tired chuckle before turning sober. “It happened privately, and much too sudden. We were fortunate with that, at least.”
You swallowed hard as your heart started beating faster. “Where is he? What happened?”
“Follow me, I'll tell you meanwhile.”
He began walking down the eastern corridor, which fortunately didn't say critical care. You obeyed, walking next to him while you tried not to think about what horror might have befallen Jungkook.
“I don't know why he acted the way he did,” began Sejin, then gave you a sharp glance. “But after you two had 'talked', the kid was devastated. I thought he would cheer up after some drinks in celebration of the concert. He did, too - at least for an hour or so he seemed happy. Then, all of a sudden, he decided to bolt out onto the street, shouting something about ‘making things right.'” Sejin grimaced. “He didn't see the car, or at least I don't think he did.”
“He would never commit suicide,” you told Sejin firmly, remembering a scene from years back. “He loves his singing and dancing too much for that.”
“I really hope so.”
“Believe me,” you said as you did your very best to fight back the anger rising within you at the memory. Old bruises on young skin. Alcohol and smoke-laced words. “Jungkook has been through some terrible things in order to reach where he is today. He wouldn't give it all up just like that.”
Sejin gave you an inquisitive look but you shook your head. This wasn't your story to tell.
"Besides," you added with a half-hearted smile. "He would never die for me."
“Very well.” He paused outside a room. Again, his features turned serious. “This is it. He is awake and although the tests and scans aren't completely finished, the doctor thinks he's fine. She said he could count himself lucky that he only broke his arm, even if it was his right one.”
“Well then,” you said and put your hand on the metallic door handle, feeling a wave of relief sweep over you. “Why did you sound so worried earlier then? You told me it was a severe accident.”
“There is this one detail…”
You rolled your eyes. “A scar on his pretty face won’t dissuade any of the fans’ from supporting him. In fact, it’ll probably make him look a bit tougher and even more desirable. That’s nothing to be ashamed of - on the contrary, actually.”
Kim Sejin pursed his lips before speaking. “It’s not his face that’s the issue.”
And the next few words he said would come to permanently change your life. For better or worse, you didn’t know. At least not yet.
“He is amnesic, (Y/N).”

(March 2009)
———
"Alex!" Meredith screeched as she met him in the hallway. "Alex! Answer your damn phone. I've been trying to call you for the past hour. Why weren't you answering my calls?"
"Sorry, Jo and I were in an on-call room, ya know," Alex smirked, a smug glint in his eye.
"Ew, gross," Meredith made a face. "I did not need to know that."
"Well, aren't you happy that I didn't answer your calls while we were—"
"No, no, I'm going to stop you right there because I don't want to hear about the dirty, jailhouse hooker things that you and Jo do in the dark corners of the hospital," Meredith shuddered. "Anyway, that's not what I wanted to talk about?”
“What did you want to talk about?” Alex exhaled impatiently.
“I wanted to talk about why your brother showed up at my house this morning while I was in the shower,” Meredith whisper-yelled. “Why didn’t I know you have a brother? And why doesn’t he know where you live?”
“Crap,” Alex paused in the middle of the hallway. “What’s he doing here?”
“I don’t know, but I told him I’d bring him here with me to see you, so he’s hanging out in the lounge right now,” Meredith answered.
The pair walked down to the residents’ lounge quickly. When Alex entered, he saw his brother standing there, talking to Izzie, Lexie, Jackson and Cristina.
“Alex is the oldest, then me, and then Amber,” Aaron took a bite out of the granola bar in his hand. “Amber’s graduating from St. Savior’s in May. She’s… she’s smart like Alex. She could go to college if she wanted to, but she’s like “what’s the point?” you know?” And I don’t know what to tell her. Alex is the doctor in the family. I just move people for a living.”
“Hey, what are you doing here?” Alex chuckled lightly, startling Aaron, whose face lit up upon hearing Alex’s voice.
“Alex!” Aaron grinned and pulled his older brother into a tight hug. “Man you got old.”
“Dude, uh, what are you doing here?” Alex asked again.
“I had to drive to Portland on a job, and since Portland is in the neighborhood...” Aaron shrugged.
“Well, Portland is not in the neighborhood,” Alex shook his head, an amused smile on his face.
“It’s three hours,” Aaron waved dismissively. “I can do three hours in my sleep.”
“Alex, he’s your brother. He’s allowed to come say hi,” Lexie rolled her eyes.
“I’m overdue for a visit,” Aaron explained. “It’s been almost five and a half years.”
“No it has not,” Alex made a face.
“Since you’ve been home?” Aaron raised his eyebrows. “Five and a half years.”
“You haven’t been home in five years?” Izzie gasped.
“Has it been five years?” Meredith looked at Alex expectantly.
“Amber was twelve the last time we saw you. It was that Christmas when you brought Jo home for the first time and mom walked in on you guys having sex because you’d just gotten together the night before,” Aaron chuckled at the memory.
“Glad to see some things never change,” Cristina muttered under her breath. “We walk in on them on a weekly basis around here. They've been going at it like rabbits for the past few weeks.”
“We were not having sex,” Alex protested. “We were… kissing that’s all.”
“Oh yes, kissing with no clothes on. Definitely not having sex,” Aaron quipped sarcastically, garnering a few chuckles from the residents in the room. “Where is Jo by the way? Doesn’t she work here with you?”
“Aaron?”
“Speak of the devil,” Jackson nudged Lexie as Jo stood in the doorway of the lounge.
“Jo?”
“Ah! Aaron?” Jo rushed over and embraced him enthusiastically. “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it!” Jo pulled away to get a good look at Aaron. “Look at you. You’re all grown up.”
“Grown up enough to get you to leave my brother for me?” Aaron joked.
“Yikes, I hate to break it to you, but there’s only one Karev that holds the number one spot in my heart,” Jo paused for dramatic effect. “Amber.”
“Shut up,” Alex laughed at his girlfriend. “I think my mom would agree too. I think all of us would agree.”
“He’s right,” Aaron nodded, a smile on his face.
“So, what’s going on?” Jo asked. “Not that I’m not happy to see you, but, why are you here?”
“Well, I missed you guys,” Aaron tilted his head. “But since you guys are doctors, I thought I’d ask…” Aaron lifted up his shirt. “Should I be worried about this?”
***
When he woke up that morning, Alex did not think he’d be spending the first part of his day trying to locate Dr. Bailey in order to beg her to perform his brother’s umbilical hernia repair pro bono. But there he found himself filling out his brother’s paperwork as Aaron roamed the halls in a hospital gown saying God knows what to all of his coworkers. By the time Alex found Aaron again, he was sitting at a chair behind the nurses station, staring at the scans the Jo had pulled up.
“And that right there is a kidney,” Jo pointed at the screen.
“No way,” Aaron’s lips curved up slightly. “That’s so cool. Sometimes I wish I would’ve gone to school or training of some sort. I’ve always thought that I could’ve been a good firefighter.”
“You’ve still got plenty of time,” Jo encouraged. “You’re young and can do whatever you want.”
“I guess you’re right,” Aaron nodded. “I gotta live through this surgery first.”
“It’s a simple procedure,” Alex explained as he came up beside them. “Dr. Bailey is one of the best and she’s done this countless times. You’re going to be fine.”
“Alright, well I’ve got to go,” Jo straightened and placed a small kiss on Alex’s cheek. “I’m in the pit today with Hunt. Love you!”
“Love you, too,” Alex replied  watching as Jo walked away.
“You look stupid,” Aaron made fun of his older brother who glared at him. “I’m serious. You’re watching her walk away like you’re never going to see her again.”
“Shut up,” Alex rolled his eyes. “Let’s get you to your room.”
“Why aren’t you guys, you know, married yet?” Aaron asked when they finally got back to his hospital room.
“Because we’re not,” Alex replied simply.
“That’s not an answer,” Aaron sat down on the bed. “I’m serious. Why haven’t you married her? You guys have been together for over five years. What are you doing? Is this it? Is this all you have to give of yourself?”
“Of course not,” Alex sighed. “Look, we haven’t really told anyone this, but we’re kind of trying for a baby.”
“You’re trying for a what, now?” Aaron’s eyes bulged. “A baby? As in an actual child that’s half you, half her, that you would raise together?”
“Yeah,” Alex breathed out a shaky laugh. “Yeah we are… well, weren’t not exactly trying, just not... preventing anything.”
“That’s great man. I’m happy for you two. I’m glad that you feel ready to take that step,” Aaron patted Alex's shoulder. “That still doesn’t explain why you haven’t popped the question yet. Grandma Lois would kill you if she found out that you were trying to knock your girl up before marrying her.”
“I think I’m going to propose soon. I need to get a ring though, and it has to be perfect… I want to give her everything. She deserves that,” Alex stated quietly.
“You may want to give her everything, but honestly? I don’t think she wants everything,” Aaron looked up at his older brother’s puzzled face. “I think she just wants you. And to be married to you and have kids with you. You’re all she wants and all she really needs. I know you aren’t used to that because of the way we grew up, but Alex, you’re going to keep making excuses for why you can’t propose for the rest of your life as long as you keep thinking that she deserves better than what you can give her.”
“When did you get so smart?” Alex narrowed his eyes. “I swear, the last time I saw you, the only thing on your mind was football and sex.”
“I grew up,” Aaron shrugged, a dimpled smile donning his cheeks. “Just ask her to marry you already. If you want, I’ll go with you to look at rings as soon as they clear me after surgery.”
“I’d like that,” Alex grinned, leaning forward to ruffle Aaron’s hair. “You’re going places, kid.”
***
Two Weeks Later
“Did you hear Nurse Jen got engaged last weekend? She came back from skiing with a massive rock on her hand.”
“Really? That’s like the sixth one in the past two months,” Cristina’s voice was annoyed, Meredith chuckling at her. “I only know because they always make a big deal out of their gloves ripping on the flashy rings their spoiled rich boy fiancé’s buy them.”
Alex rolled his eyes as he shrugged out of his scrub top and grabbed his shirt from his locker. He was used to the pointless gossip the three girls swapped in the locker room, their voices and laughter always echoing out louder than anything else happening in the room.
“Maybe the next one won’t be a nurse but one of our very own residents,” Meredith chucked her scarf at Alex, making him toss the fabric back and stare down the three women with a disgruntled stare. “Don’t give me that look, I think it’s about time you manned up and popped the question to Jo! I mean it feels like just yesterday we were calling her Dracula and now she’s kicking ass and taking names.”
“She’s got a point, Evil Spawn, pretty soon she’s gonna get tired of your shit and realize she’s way too good for you,” Alex met Cristina with a glare, the dark haired woman winking at him in return. “Seriously though, why’re you dragging your feet?”
“Shut up,” Alex grunted, trying to push the conversation aside.
“C'mon, Alex, you guys have been together for a million years and you haven’t even thought about marrying her,” Izzie threw her hands up in exasperation as Cristina and Meredith nodded their heads in agreement. “I'd be getting impatient if I were her. Me and George weren’t even together when we got married. But we loved each other and that was enough. Especially since life is short and you never know how much time you have left.”
“If it’s the commitment you’re afraid of, that’s okay. We’re all messed up and have problems with that, but I have to agree with them, Alex. Time is ticking,” Meredith said, folding her clothes and putting them in the locker. “And if it’s the wedding you’re worried about, you can always borrow my post-it notes.” She chuckled, making the other girls join her in a laughing fit.
“Leave me alone, all three of you. I have thought about marrying her, I’m aware that she could do much better, and I’m not afraid of commitment or the wedding part. I actually want to have a giant wedding, for your information,” Alex scowled before allowing his face to soften a bit. “And I don’t owe you any explanation because this is none of your business, but…” he rummaged around his locker and pulled out a tiny box that made all the women gasp giddily. “I’ve had to keep it here for the past week because she’d find it in the loft, but I’m proposing. Tonight.” He smiled, sitting down and showing them the ring.
“Oh crap!” Cristina’s eyes widened. “You bought an actual diamond engagement ring.”
“No I’m proposing with a paper ring,” Alex deadpanned. “Of course I bought a ring.”
“Alex, this ring is beautiful,” Izzie fawned over it.
“Really? You think she’ll like it?” He looked at it one more time before turning his gaze to the trio standing right behind him.
“I think she’ll love it,” Meredith said.
“Good. All those options at the store made me anxious. I never thought I’d ever go ring shopping, so I’m still a bit insecure about my choice, but I hope you’re right. I hope she loves it,” Alex let out a nervous breath, closing the little box again and putting it back in the back of his locker.
“Dude, grow a pair,” Cristina teased him.
“Shut up,” Alex rolled his eyes, making them laugh as they made their way out of the room.
“Don’t worry, Evil Spawn. Dracula is gonna love it. You did a great job,” Cristina patted his back with a smile on her face as they parted ways.

Chapter 10: Call of the Cicada
Synopsis: A stranger has been threatening Destructo, a company based in Seoul. As more and more businessmen get attacked on account of swarms of Cicadas, will it lead you to a new mystery and perhaps on a path towards a new relationship with Heeseung?
Series Masterlist
------
The man quietly drove home, slowly taking in his surroundings as he approached his destination. Abruptly, a phone call broke through his peace and he quickly picked up.
"I warned you to quit." The raspy voice threatened on the other side of the phone.
"I told you to stop calling me!" He hung up the phone and threw it to his backseat, ignoring yet another blackmail call.
He maintained his attention on the road before him. The first cicada fell onto the front window, and he pushed it aside using the windshield wipers.
“Those cicada things disgust me.” He whispered to himself, and continued his drive home. But his tranquility soon disappeared as more and more cicadas landed on his windows, forming a creature that would engulf both him and the car completely.
-------
Professor Yin stood at the center of the class, slowly caressing the cicada bug on his index finger; he later placed it back on the mini-tree while planting a kiss on the head.
“Did he just kiss the bug?” Heeseung, who was seated behind you, asked in a quiet voice, before you hummed back, slowly admiring the professor’s good looks.
“The cicada bug is one of earth’s most spectacular creatures, and are well-known for the songs sung by most if not all male cicadas. In their lifetime, cicadas usually will go underground and re-emerge every seventeen years to escape the pollution and disastrous human activity. Isn’t that right Sunoo and Niki?” The professor turned his attention on the two boys in the back of the class bickering over the last bag of snacks in their hands.
“Sunoo. Niki. Are you aware that Nature O’s are manufactured by Destructo, the biggest polluter in both Seoul and the country!” Both boys glanced at one another and looked back at the professor.
“Uh, no, but at least they’re delicious!” Professor Yin rolled his eyes and turned once the bell rang signaling their dismissal.
“Yikes, I swear Professor Yin gets weirder every class.” Sunghoon swung his back over his shoulder and led the way out of the front door.
“Really? I haven’t noticed much.” Jungwon stopped you mid-way allowing you to process your response.
“Of course you haven’t. You’re too busy staring at him.” You punched him lightly in the shoulder and noticed Heeseung with an unclear face.
“What’s so great about Professor Yin anyway?”
“He’s smart, pretty poetic, and good looking.” You quickly said the last part before running off with Sunghoon and Jay to the cafeteria.
“Oh yeah? I wonder how good he would look in my traps!” Jake looked at the boy oddly before running off to catch the rest of his 02 friends.
“Heeseung, are you jealous?” Sunoo asked bluntly.
“J-jealous, what makes you say that.”
“I don’t know, you just seem a little tense, a little-” Niki didn’t get to finish his statement before he choked on a slip of paper in his mouth.
“It’s a note from JK, it says there’s a mystery waiting for us at the city hospital.” Heeseung nodded at him, leading the young trio into the cafeteria before heading off to their next adventure.
------
“Please, we all know I’m the visual of the group.” Sunghoon cockily smirked, which earned him a few bickers from the other members as they entered the hospital.
Heeseung stayed back momentarily, patiently waiting as you got off the van and headed to the same entrance. Besides the limited adrenaline in his veins, and the anxiety rushing to his mind and heart, he continued with his mission.
“Hey, y/n.” At the mention of your name, you quickly turned back to see Heeseung standing there.
“I was uh...wondering if you’d like to go on a d-d-d-d-date.” With all his strength, he finally let out the magic words. The question perked your interest and you approached him with a building sense of happiness and excitement.
“A date? You mean it?”
“Yeah, there’s a new trap exhibit in town and I was hoping you’d like to go.” Your peaking excitement calmed itself down, facing the reality of Heeseung’s world.
“You know when you popped the question, I actually thought you meant it.” You crossed your arms and headed inside, feeling slightly guilty with your indirect rejection.
Heeseung caught up with you and kept his thoughts on what you had mentioned to him earlier. In his mind, you loved traps too.
“What happened here Chief?” Jay looked at both Chief Kim and Mayor Lee who were standing at the front door of an operation room.
“Nothing, now go away.”
“Is he okay?”
“Yes, now go away.” It was clear that Mayor Lee was trying his best to get rid of the pestering group, but ensured to stay strong on the task.
“Are you sure? He’s practically screaming inside the room.” Niki, using his advantage of height, peered over the Chief’s shoulder and saw as one of the nurses used a pair of tweezers to extract a cicada from the nostril from the man.
“You know what happened!? This giant disgusting cicada creature trapped the poor man. Imagine small little creatures crawling over your body, ew…” Chief Kim began to frantically scratch his arms as he confessed to the teen group the truth behind the incident.
“Okay, yes there’s a cicada creature. But! If you have any decency left in your hearts, you will stay out of this. It will be good publicity for the festival on Saturday so don’t meddle with it!” Mayor Lee retreated from the hall at his warning, not exactly prioritizing the well-being of his people.
Later that night, another attack occurred.
Another business man was going through his daily routine, ending the day with a warm night shower. As he moved back his hair, his phone rang, and he picked up while wrapping a towel around his torso.
“I warned you to quit.” The familiar raspy voice rang through the phone, leaving the man to hang up in frustration, preferring to return to his chore.
He entered the comfort of the shower once more, throwing the towel to the side and reaching for the knob to turn back on the water. His efforts were wasted seeing as the knob was turned, but no water exited the shower head. The man peeked closer, attempting to find the solution before a crawling sensation appeared on his left foot. A cicada bug was crawling on it, and as he flicked it away,  a swarm escaped from the drain. He too had been consumed.
------
“Try Nature O’s, a proud product of Destructo Company.” Grandma Mimi smiled proudly through the screen holding up the iconic blue and orange printed bag which only permitted for the youngest members to let out a small groan.
“How long are we supposed to wait? Sunghoon and Heeseung left a while ago.” As if the universe had heard him, the said members had signaled to the group to follow them, leading to the room of the latest victim.
“There, there.” A feminine voice was heard from the other side of the door, and Sunoo and Niki looked at each other with wide smiles when they saw Grandma Mimi standing there.
“Oh my, we’re such huge fans!” They shook hands and she responded with a warm smile.
“It’s my pleasure, after all, I must thank Mr.Hughe for making them so popular.”
“You also work at Destructo?” Jake asked.
“I’ll leave you guys to be, take care.” Grandma Mimi left the room with the escort of Sunghoon and Jay who were kind of enough to help her.
“Yes. I had been getting blackmail calls since a few weeks ago to quit my job at Destructo. I didn’t take them seriously and well, now there was a bunch of small...creepy...crawling….disgusting little creatures crawling all over me.” Mr.Hughe entered into a state of hysteria, leaving all of you with no other option than to call the nurse for help. Once he had calmed down, you finally made your ways back home, heading first to the elevator.
“Jungwon, can you press for the lobby?” Jungwon did as told, pressing the small white button. As the elevator moved slowly, and opened, it left them puzzled as their eyesight was met with a dark basement.
“Good going dummy, you pressed the wrong button.”
“I did Jay, look.” Jungwon pressed the button once more and nothing happened. All of them stepped out of the elevator only to have it close them behind and for the lights in the basement to flicker on.
“Listen well, if you don’t stop, you will be next.” All of them ducked down as they heard the warning from the ominous and deep voice. A swarm of cicadas entered the basement, approaching you. You turned your head sideways and Jake with his limited bravery due to his fear of insects, managed to tuck your head into his chest using his jacket.
Once the swarm had disappeared, the elevator doors had opened once more, letting all of you make your way up to the van.
“That was close.” Sunoo opened his school bag to find another cicada bug flying out.
“We have to find who this creature is and fast, otherwise we’ll be next.” Heeseung drove off before coming to an abrupt stop.
“That’s it, why didn’t I think of it before? Who loves cicadas AND hates Destructo, it’s Professor Yin!” He shouted almost too enthusiastically at the thought of him behind bars, but wasn’t willing to admit the slight bias in his accusation.
“You can’t be serious Heeseung.” You crossed your arms and looked at him.
“I’m sorry, but I’m with Heeseung on this one. It makes sense.” Sunghoon demonstrated his support which prompted them to go to the school despite your refusal.
Eight bodies stood outside the door, quietly observing as Professor Yin placed the cicadas onto the small tree, taking out a small flute in the process. You and Niki stayed back and watched as Heeseung burst the door wide open with the other five boys following behind.
“Aha, caught you right in the act girlfriend stealer!” Heeseung shouted louder that he would have wished, seeing as all of the boys looked at him and back at the door where you and Niki were.
“What are you talking about?” Professor Yin stood agape and got himself up from his position.
“You’re the cicada monster!” Jungwon’s accusation didn’t settle in considering the next few minutes developed into a massive debate between all of you, with Chief Kim and Mayor Lee arriving into the mix.
“Enough! What is going on?” Mayor Lee broke into a booming voice and claimed a silence into the room.
“He’s the cicada creature! You have to arrest him.” Heeseung pointed once more at the Professor and although it was audible how Mayor Lee asked him to come to the festival at 6PM if he was the creature, it still irritated the poor man.
“I’m not the creature, and if you don’t leave, I’m pressing charges.” All of you exited the room with nothing much accomplished.
“Look, all of you need to quit it.” Mayor Lee pressed his nose bridge as he looked at all of you.
“We don’t have time,  it told us that we were next.”
“That’s fantastic,” a foreign glimpse of happiness appeared on Mayor Lee’s face as he continued with his ramble, “all of you can show up at the festival tomorrow and we’ll make sure to have extra photographers! We don’t want you getting hurt for nothing!”
Mayor Lee left with Chief Kim almost immediately, leaving all of you both clueless and lost.
-------
The day of the festival had commenced and all of you approached the fun booths and cicada-themed attractions.
While looking around, you noticed Heeseung approach one of the games: whack a mole.
“Heeseung!” he kept pounding the plastic creatures and tried his best to give no reaction.
“Did you mean what you said yesterday? About me being your girlfriend?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Knowing too well about Heeseung’s struggle with expressing himself, you wrapped your arm around his and turned his face towards you.
“Because if it is, then I’d love to go to the trap exhibit with you later.” He kept his look firm, but couldn’t help a silly grin on his face as he pulled you into a hug.
Both of you pulled away with wide grins, but it didn’t last long when Mayor Lee approached all of you.
“Remember if you see the creature, run here. Got it?” The eight of you made your ways to the other side of the festival, when Niki grabbed your attention while pointing at Professor Yin who was seen entering the haunted house.
“To the haunted house!” Sunoo trailed forward and went in first. None of you were too amazed with the decorations inside. Yet again, all of you were in constant peril at least once a week.
“This is so dumb, what are we, five.” Jake commented as you reached the end. What you didn’t expect was for a wall to appear inclosing all of you inside. The swarm of cicadas appeared and tried to consume you as you broke through the tent finding as escape.
“Guess it wasn’t Professor Yin.” Sunghoon admitted as he saw Professor Yin who was calmly eating as the giant bug chased after him.
“To the van!” With all your might, your tired legs dragged you to the van where Heeseung opened the back door to let the vacuum suck up all the tiny insects.
When the swarm had finally become consumed by the machine in the van, all of you found Grandma Mimi with a white outfit.
“What is going on here?” Chief Kim asked as he looked at Grandma Mimi who was getting her hands tied together by Jay.
“She’s the cicada creature.”
“But why?”
“I’ll tell you why. When I sold my Nature O’s to Destructo, they changed the recipe to have landfill waste. Can you believe it? When I demanded they return to my original recipe, they refused. So when I saw this documentary about using sound to control penguins, I had my plan. I didn’t have penguins, but I did have cicadas. Using my device, I was able to control them. And I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for you meddling young people!”
Chief Kim escorted her into the car, leaving a frustrated Mayor Lee behind.
“Why can’t anything in this town be real?” He complained and left as well.
“Well, that’s another mystery solved.” Sunoo let out a cheer first, relieved at the solved crisis.
“I’ll have to catch you guys later because y/n and I have a date.” Heeseung proudly announced before swinging his arm over your shoulder and leading you towards the car. As your two bodies started to get further away, with laughs apparent in your conversation, Sunghoon looked at his other friend Jake who had turned away.
“You okay?”
“Yeah, come on.” Jake swallowed the bitter feeling behind him, joining the others in celebration.

Chapter 30
Is she calling me? Lin Yan nodded his head in a daze. His mind was spinning, his legs were weak like he was stepping on cotton. The light in the living room dimmed even darker. Wind blew in from the window. His hair was still slightly wet from the shower and the cold wind made his head go numb.
"Why doesn't it look like you?" Lin Yan asked.
The little girl struck a big cross across the face in the drawing with a black crayon, a thick black bar slashing across her teeth: "Why doesn't it look like me? This is how I looked when I died."
"Brother." The little girl stood up. She tilted her head and stared at Lin Yan. Her head was crookedly rested on her right shoulder, but her thumb was still in her mouth. When she took it out after a while, the top part was gone, the nail chewed halfway down her finger. The girl grinned, her mouth full of scarlet blood flowing past her lips.
"Brother, follow me, follow me." The little girl threw the crayon aside. She tugged on Lin Yan's hand and dragged him towards the bathroom: "I'll show you what I looked like when I died, it was beautiful."
Lin Yan muddled behind her. He instinctively sensed something was wrong, but he couldn't tell what it was. His head felt like a steel nail was being nailed into it, throbbing intensely.
Why was the wind so strong? Did he forget to close the windows?
"My brother bought me new clothes and then I died, hehe. Grandma is dead, Grandpa is also dead. Everyone is dead." The little girl took Lin Yan's hand and jumped forward. The braid on the back of her head was tied with a faded pink string. The bow was coming undone and the long string was stretched out and hung behind her head. "Brother, you are dying too. I'll draw a picture for you too when you die."
"Brother, hee hee, come with us." The little girl pulled the old padded jacket on her body. Her head became even more crooked as if it would accidentally fall off. "Come on, hurry. We have to catch up."
His vision was distorted. The dark corridor looked like a giant beast's gaping mouth. Lin Yan quickened his pace and suddenly kicked something with his toes. Lin Yan subconsciously climbed onto it and went up onto a platform. It was so cold, so windy. . .
Why wasn't he there yet?
"Lin Yan!" An anxious voice sounded like it came from another world, a distant echo: "Come back."
It was a familiar voice. Lin Yan twisted his stiff neck and tried to look back, but the little girl grabbed his wrist harshly and yanked him forward: "It's too late, hurry up."
Lin Yan nodded and took a staggering step forward, but his foot didn't land on anything and he lost his balance and fell. As soon as he fell forward, a huge resistance suddenly came from his torso, aggressively holding his waist. The fresh scent of shower gel jolted him back to his senses as if he had suddenly awakened from a nightmare. He looked around in confusion and saw that the old movie-like dark surroundings had returned to their usual appearance. The little girl was gone. Lin Yan looked down. The scene in front of him left him utterly speechless, only able to suck in a sharp breath.
He was standing on the windowsill in his bedroom. The window was wide open, the curtains were billowing out in the night wind, rustling and rattling. Half of his body had already stepped out. Looking down the outer wall of the apartment building, the flowerbeds and dark shadows of the trees seemed to stretch towards him on the twelfth floor. Two hazy figures in the garden were looking up and waving at him. One was the little girl in the old cotton jacket, and the one holding her hand was the second was the soul that they hadn't been able to recover today, Second Immortal Gu!
"We're dead, we're all dead, and you're going to die too." The little girl's voice echoed in his head: "Hurry up, you have to catch up to us."
"Xiao Yu, Xiao Yu!" Lin Yan yelled out in despair. He instinctively backed away and slammed into the arms of someone behind him. The hand hooked around his waist squeezed tighter, spinning him around. The deep voice repeated over and over again: "I'm here, I'm here."
That cold body had never been as warm as it was now. Shocked, Lin Yan buried his face in Xiao Yu's chest, but Xiao Yu didn't reciprocate intimately. He immediately led Lin Yan down the window sill and closed it. He stared at the flower bed on the ground and frowned.
Lin Yan looked at Xiao Yu's profile. His serious expression made him almost forget for a minute that Xiao Yu was a ghost. Lin Yan pursed his lips. He felt that he must be really disturbed to come up with the idea of letting him hold him for a while longer.
After shaking his head to drive the weird idea from his mind, he leaned on the windowsill and looked down. The green courtyard was surrounded by trees and the tiled path was empty. Second Immortal Gu and the little girl were gone.
"The little girl and the old lady were standing down there just now." Lin Yan stammered. "They waved to me. . ."
"I can't see them." Xiao Yu's expression was serious. and he raised his hand to straighten out his damp hair. Raising his hand to fix his wet hair, Lin Yan realized that he seemed to have rushed straight out of the bathtub. His clothes hanging loosely on his body, exposing his marble-like chest. Lin Yan felt himself blush and hurriedly turned his head to the side to hide it.
"They're not like me." Xiao Yu closed the curtains. "Don't go too far away from me."
Lin Yan was silent for a while then asked softly: ". . . how are they not the same?"
Xiao Yu didn't answer. He took a deep look at him and abruptly dragged Lin Yan from the bedroom back to the living room and pressed him into the sofa. Just when Lin Yan thought he was going to force himself on him again, Xiao Yu let go. He picked up the ancient books that had fallen on the ground and shoved them at him. He said seriously: "Learn these."
"Dude, are you kidding. . ." Lin Yan swept through the pages of the books, glancing at a large string of unheard-of terms. He couldn't help but let out a pathetic laugh: "Putting aside the fact that there's no way I can get through all of these, even if I look up each individual word to understand what it meant, I can't become a Daoist priest in one day."
Xiao Yu was silent for a while and said lightly: "If I leave one day, you have to know how to protect yourself."
Xiao Yu's hands pressed on his knees as he spoke, his demeanour as tame and gentle as usual, but something seemed different. Lin Yan hesitantly asked him in a low voice: "Are you going to leave?"
"Haven't you been looking forward to it?" Xiao Yu replied coldly.
Lin Yan didn't know what to say. He raised his hand and gently touched his face. His delicate and cold skin felt like fine porcelain. He slowly rested his palm on his face and stroked his jaw. Xiao Yu didn't shy away, quietly lying on Lin Yan’s knees. Just when Lin Yan thought he was asleep and was going to take him back to the bedroom, Xiao Yu suddenly shot up. He spread open the book on Lin Yan’s lap and stared at him calmly, eyes almost sad.
"You really want me to learn this?" Lin Yan asked in surprise.
Xiao Yu nodded. Lin Yan still wanted to argue, but when he saw his serious expression, he swallowed his retorts.
The books from the online store covered almost every subject. Not only was there I Ching Feng Shui, the Five Elements of Yin and Yang, Astrology and Geomancy, Tomb Charms Guide, Qimen Dunjia*, but even calling back souls to raise corpses so they could continue their lives. Some of the books were reasonable and well-founded, but most of them contradicted themselves. The authors were shooting themselves in the foot trying to sound all-knowing with all the contradicting information. The more Lin Yan read, the more nonsensical it all seemed. He yawned sleepily. He had drunk three cups of coffee overnight and smoked almost a full pack of cigarettes without finding anything. Every time he wanted to stop. he was forced to continue by Xiao Yu's murderous eyes. He wasn't allowed to sleep at all until dawn.
*(T/N: 奇门遁甲 - a type of divination)
Feudal superstition kills people. People need to be selective about what they absorb from traditional culture. Keep the essence stuff and discard the rest. Lin Yan vaguely remembered his junior high Chinese history textbooks. He muttered that after years of atheistic education, he was forced to go to Liangshan* by a ghost.
*(T/N: 梁山 - this is where the Daoist heroes from the Water Margin were from. So kind of like a land of heavy spiritualism)
If someone really wanted to learn something, you can’t eat one bite to become a fat guy*. Lin Yan lazily lay on Xiao Yu's lap, his cold palm stroking his shoulders down to his waist. After getting used to the coldness of his body, he felt very at ease. Lin Yan huddled up on the sofa and all the symbols and phrases in the book appeared in his mind; so much Yin and Yang, the sun rises in the east, how to disrupt a nightmare, avoid bad luck. . .
*(T/N: 一口吃成个胖子 - an idiom that means basically it's not going to happen all at once)
He slowly nodded off as the dawn sky began to lighten.
The next few days were extremely hard. In addition to visiting the young Daoist priest in the hospital every day at lunch with Yin Zhou, Lin Yan spent almost all his time buried in a variety of old books. Xiao Yu seemed determined to train him to become a Daoist master. On the table were large stacks of white paper, each one scrawled with odd incantations taken from the books. Some of them weren't even in Chinese. He could only trace them with a pencil, noting the patterns and corresponding them with their intended purpose.
The worst thing was that he had no way of experimenting with the effects of these charms. Lin Yan lay on the table and stared at Xiao Yu's back, reluctantly thinking that the only thing he had as a test subject was this ghost. But no matter what talisman he tried, there was no reaction. After trying more than a dozen, Lin Yan's patience had finally worn out. He uncontrollably swept the books onto the ground. He slammed his hands on the table and yelled at Xiao Yu: "Are you fucking playing with me?"
Xiao Yu wasn't angry. He patiently picked the books off the ground, turning back to where they had been and placed them in front of Lin Yan. He stepped aside and looked at him quietly. Lin Yan felt like a dumb firecracker, extinguished by a pot of water before he had the chance to explode. It happened to rain for several days, the sound of rain and the sound of pages turning made the house extremely quiet. Lin Yan, for the thousandth time, wrote out notes on geomancy. Xiao Yu had more patience than him. No matter how long Lin Yan sat at his desk, Xiao Yu stayed beside him for as long as he could. Every time Lin Yan turned around, their eyes would meet. He had given up on the idea of slacking off. He lit a cigarette and continued to bury himself in the pile of books.
"You have been sitting here with me for ages, don't you feel bored?" Lin Yan sighed. "The remote is on the table and there's a notebook in my room. I'll teach you how to use it. This is also your home. You don't need to be so polite with me."
"There's some pens and ink. You'll have to use it yourself. You can write or paint anything you want. I don't have that kind of talent anyways. I won't be able to tell if it's bad." Lin Yan chatted up and laughed a bit. "It's a bit like filming a TV series."
He still didn't answer. The whole room seemed to grow mouldy in the rainy weather. Coupled with the chilly aura radiating from Xiao Yu's body, Lin Yan felt that he had become a mushroom growing in one of the damp corners. Before Xiao Yu could speak, he always liked to hug him whenever he had the opportunity. Now that he had regained some consciousness, he didn't touch him as much. He just watched from behind, the silence suffocating and making Lin Yan somewhat uneasy.

”Hold
Hold on
Hold on to me
'Cause I'm a little unsteady
A little unsteady”
‘Her hand is too cold’ Ashton thought ‘She must be very cold’
You were lying in the hospital bed, unfazed. Ashton knew you couldn’t feel anything, at least that’s what the doctors told him. But he couldn’t help but wonder if you were cold. If you could feel your skin becoming more like ice every second but were unable to ask for a blanket.
He would give you the sun if you asked.
But you couldn’t.
Ashton hasn’t heard your voice in over three months, and damn, how he missed it. He misses you, all of you. He often wondered what he’d do if when you open your eyes. Would he cry? Kiss you? Pass out? He didn’t know. All he knew is that he’ll be the happiest man on earth once you did.
But your hands were cold against his. Your body numb in the bed. And he was by your side, unmoving.
The nice nurse came in, he liked her and knew you would too, once you meet her “It’s four already” she said, smiling kindly to Ashton. He nodded and stepped aside to let her work.
He became familiarized with the routines pretty quickly. He memorized the medicines, the sounds of the machines attached to your body, every single technicality. Ashton always hated not to know, so he spent many nights next to you studying everything he could so he’ll be up to date. It became his life mission to make sure you were treated correctly and that you were safe.
“Her hand is cold” he muttered
“Okay, I’ll make sure to bring something warm for her when I come back” the lovely nurse smiled. Ashton breathed a small ‘thank you’ as she left, taking his usual spot in the chair next to your bed, holding your hand.
“You will love her” he said to you. He read that talking to you could be helpful, since you could probably hear him “She’s very nice to us, to you. And she has that ‘loving granny’ energy you talk about. I don’t know if she’s a grandma, though. She’s probably around 52… you would know better. You always do”
His eyes landed on your face, you look beautiful as always, but you didn’t move a muscle. Ashton squeezes your hand, waiting for a reaction of any kind, but getting nothing as a result. He felt the tears coming back, they haven't left since that night, and his voice broke as he tried to hold them.
“Baby, please come back” he pleaded “I - I know you’re trying to fight when you feel like flying. I know you’re there, Y/N. Please, hold on to me. Come back to me” breaking down as he couldn’t contain the tears any longer, he whispered ”I - I miss you”
“Ashton, you can’t be serious” You said giggling.
You were coming back home after a concert. The last concert of tour and you were ready to have your husband all by yourself again. You looked at Ashton as his smile spreaded through his face, making all of his dimples pop out and your heart flutter. His hands were on the wheel, but his eyes kept drifting from you to the road.
“I mean it!” He said with a laugh “Don’t tell me you didn’t think the same thing when you saw them!”
“I did, I’m not gonna lie” you admitted “But do you think we are ready? I mean, a kid is a lot more responsibility than some plants in the garden”
It was not the first time the ‘baby conversation’ popped out. But it was always dismissed, stating that neither of you were ready for that yet. Tonight, however, one of Michael’s friends brought her baby backstage and your mommy instincts kicked in. You were pulled towards that baby like a magnet, impossible to deny how cute they were, specially in a little 5SOS hoodie customized to their size. Ashton saw from a distance how good you were with that little baby that he felt the need to have one of your own. Falling in love with the thought of you being a wonderful mother to your child.
“I know that, but think about it, love. The tour’s over, the boys and I already decided to take a little break before starting to work on a new album, we all want to dedicate some time to our families, so I’ll be around for anything you need. Not to mention that we are financially stable and completely in love” Ashton grabbed you hand and brought it to his lips, kissing it gently “Plus, think how beautiful you’ll look with a baby bump”
“Yeah, all bloated and irritable”
“Still beautiful” He fixed his eyes on you, still smiling “Look, if you’re not ready then we can wait but -“
“Let’s do it.”
“What?”
“I said, let’s do it. Let’s try for a baby”
Ashton’s eyes gleamed under the night sky as he looked at you with adoration. You were both smiling like fools. It was decided then, you were going to have a baby! You were so immerse with happiness at that moment,, maybe that’s why you didn’t see the car heading towards you.
“You should go home for a bit, mate” Michael said as he placed his hand on Ashton’s shoulder. He didn’t move.
It was visiting hours, Michael, Luke, Calum and their girls came today. They always do. Making Ashton company as he patiently waits for you next to your bed.
“I’m fine”
He really wasn’t. His hair was a mess, he had dark circles under his eyes and he can’t even remember the last time he ate a proper meal or took a real shower. But he didn’t care. All of his attention was on you, all of his hopes, his prayers, his pleads, all came back to you and the chance that you’ll open your eyes.
“You’re not fine, Ashton,” Michael pleaded again, but got no response from him “Look at me” He squeezed Ashton’s shoulder, turning Ashton around to look him in the eyes. The same hazel eyes that a few months ago were filled with love and spark, that now were empty and sad “You need to go home”
“But-“
“Go home, Ash. If not for you then do it for Y/N”
Ashton was taken aback. Michael never spoke with such authority as he did at that moment. He knew he was right but still he couldn’t leave you.
“Mike and I will stay with her” Luke said “Visitors hours don’t end until two hours from now. That’s enough time for you to grab some things from home”
“And for goodness sake, take a shower” Cal intervened.
“We’ll be here and we’ll call you if anything happens. But you can’t take care of her if you don’t take care of yourself, you were hurt too”
Ashton felt like he was being cornered by his three best friends. They were right, of course they were. But this was harder that it seemed and he didn’t know if he was ready to face it.
“I- I can’t” he mumbled looking down, feeling three pairs of eyes on him “I can’t go home without Y/N,, I don’t think I’ll be able to take it”
A pitiful look was exchanged between the three men. All of them hurting for him, for you.
“I’ll go with you, mate. You don’t have to go alone” Calum said, extending his hand to his best friend, helping him getting up.
When they reached the parking lot, Ashton tossed his keys to Calum, not saying a word. He was not ready to sit behind the wheel again. So Calum drove them through the familiar streets of LA, back to an empty house that was once filled with songs.
Ashton held his breath when he opened the door and stepped in. It was all too familiar but at the same time so strange. Everything was like the way you left it, the news paper on the kitchen table, next to the glass of wine you didn’t get to finish. The pair of shoes you decided to change at the last minute were still by the door and your perfume invaded the house as a ghost. Every inch of this house had your presence in it, but you were nowhere to be found.
Calum placed his hand on Ashton’s shoulder, something they all seem to be doing a lot lately, as he took in the empty house “Take all the time that you need” and he did.
Ashton walked through the deserted halls, stopping in front of his and your room. He placed his hand on the doorknob but didn’t have the heart to open it, knowing you won’t be there waiting for him like each night. He felt the tears coming up again and his breathing was uneven. It took all of him to step away from the door and head towards the guest room. At least he knows it won’t smell like you.
After a much needed shower, he went to the basement. The basket filled with laundry was still there, you told him you lost track of time and forgot to put it back up. He was glad you didn’t. Ashton grabbed a few shirts and jeans and put them in a bag, he also put a few of your clothes in there, thinking you’d feel more comfortable once you wake up. He couldn’t ignore the pain of smelling your perfume so close to him after so long. He didn’t want to.
He was about to head out when he walked by his music room. The door was open, so he was able to catch a glimpse of a few books you recommended him, but that he never had the chance to read. Maybe he could read them to you, he thought.
Stepping into the room he found thousands of papers scattered around the coffee table. Bunch of scratches and unfinished songs he was ready to show you.
It wasn’t a secret that you were Ashton’s muse. Every song he wrote was inspired by you in every possible way. And you were his number one fan, always encouraged him to do what he loves and to do better by himself. Always taking care, not only of him, but of everyone else. No kindness in the world could compare to yours, no love in the world could compare to yours and now…
Where were you? Why? How could this happen? Why you?
A million questions ran through Ashton’s head, making his senses go black as he ripped apart every piece of paper he could find. Not really paying attention to the damage he was causing as he threw everything in his way. Glasses, picture frames, drumsticks, the drums themselves… all for what? What did it matter? How could anything matter if you were not there?
Calum heard the thundering sounds and cries of his best friend and ran to him. But, to his eyes, it was almost impossible to describe the broken scene that played before him.
Ashton was crying out of rage, sadness, hopelessness and some relief. Letting it all out as he trashed the music room that was once a comfort for him. The tears were mixed with his sweat, grunting and panting as he destroyed every piece of himself in that room.
“Ash!” Yelled Calum as he stepped into the chaos, trying to reach his friend “Ash-Ashton!” He managed to dodge a few pieces of glass and plastic from the broken drum kit.
He reached him mid rage, grabbing his fisted hands with all the strength he could use “Ashton fucking stop! You need to stop!”
Ashton froze as he opened his eyes and found Calum staring at him in fear. Trembling and falling to this knees, he found himself unable to stand on his feet. Tears streaming down freely.
“She’s gone” he sobbed. Completely broken.
Calum let his guard down, softly saying “She’s not gone, Ash. She’s not gone” He grabbed the tall man and pulled him into a hug. Ashton didn’t put on a fight as he let himself be comforted by his friend “She’s going to be fine. You hear me? She’ll be okay”
“We were supposed to start a new chapter together. We- we were going to start a family and… it all happened so fast, Cal”
He cried even harder “Cal, I don’t remember if it was my fault”
“You were hit by a drunk driver, none of this is your fault”
“I should’ve paid more attention! It should’ve been me! I should be the one in the fucking hospital bed”
It was all too much. It all hurt too much. It’s just,, it wasn’t fair. You didn’t deserve this, being connected to a machine, fighting to stay alive when he was the one driving the car. Three months without opening your eyes, without hearing your laughter, or your off key singing. He would do anything just to feel your arms around him one more time, to hear your voice saying that everything was going to be okay. He needed you. He needed you desperately. How could he live without you when you were all he knew? How could he sing about love when you’re not here to hear it?
“This house doesn’t feel like a home without her” He sobbed “I- I don’t know what I’ll do, I can't lose her”
“You won’t” Said Calum, fighting his own tears when the image of you fighting for your life came to mind. But he knew he had to stay positive, for Ashton, for everyone “We won’t lose Y/N, she will wake up”
“Cal, I -“ whispered Ashton in a broken voice “I don’t think she will”
“Y/N?!”
Darkness. Everything was dark and everything hurts. Where was he? Why,, why couldn’t he move?
It took him a second to figure out that you were upside down, still inside of the car. He called your name one more time, but there was no answer. His eyes needed to adjust, he needed to find you. But then..
“A-ash?”
Your voice was weak. Barely even a whisper filled with pain.
“Y/N?!” Ashton called, his hand immediately trying to get to yours. He didn’t care about the broken pieces of glass and concrete that cut through his skin, he just needed to hold your hand “It’s okay, you’re okay”
“Ash” you cried in pain. Squeezing his hand, trying to hold onto something real “I can’t move. Everything hurts”
“Don’t move, Love. Don’t move until they come for us, okay? They’re going to help you. You’ll be okay”
Ashton tried to remain calm for you, soothing your cries by running circles in your hand. “Just hold onto me, baby. Hold my hand. We’re gonna get through this, okay? We are going to be fine”
You could only cry in response. Every ounce of pain hitting you from different parts. It was almost intolerable, but Ashton tried his best to comfort you and you got lost in the sound of his voice, starting to drift away.
“Don’t let go, Y/N. Baby. Don’t let go of my hand, okay? I need you here with me, you understand me?”
“Ashton, I’m tired”
“No, no no no, baby stay with me. Tell me, what names do you like?”
“N-names?”
“Yes, Love. For the baby”
“The baby…”
Ashton was crying, but he wouldn’t let you see it. He squeezed your hand.
“Yes, yes the baby” He could hear your breathing slowing down “You can’t go to sleep, love. Baby, hold on”
He could hear the sirens coming closer, they were going to be okay.
“W-what about Alex? Do you like that one?” You could only hum in response “Stay with me, Y/N. What about Rose? You told me you liked that name, remember?”
The lights of the ambulance shined in the pavement. They were here. Help was here.
“Rose…” you said faintly
“Yes, yes baby. We are going to have such a beautiful family” Ashton cried as he felt your hand gave in “And you’re going to be an excellent mother.”
“You’ll be an excellent father”
“Y/N?”
“I’m so tired, Ash. Everything hurts” you cried.
“Baby no, don’t leave me. Just hold onto me, keep holding onto me”
He was panicking now, feeling you fade away.
“I love you” you said.
“Y/N?! No, baby c’mon. Hold on, please. If you love me don’t let go. Don’t leave me here”
Ashton didn’t feel when the door of his car opened next to him. He didn’t feel when they pulled him out of the car and into a stretcher. He just wanted to know that you were okay.
“Y/N?!” He screamed at the paramedics, trying to find you among the crowd that has gathered around the wreck “Where’s my wife?! Y/N!”
All he could hear was “She’s losing a lot of blood!” “We need to take her now” “I don’t feel a heartbeat, we’re losing her” as he saw your figured being pulled away in another ambulance, away from him.
He yelled, screamed, cried and kicked, trying to get to you somehow. He needed to be with you. He needed to know that you were still with him. That you were okay.
He didn’t feel when they injected him with a sedative.
From that moment on, everyday was the same. Everyday hoping that it might be different.
After the wreckage of your home, Ashton came back to the hospital to find you still asleep on the bed. He thanked the boys and said goodbye, promising them that he’ll be fine.
“I went home today” he said as he sat down on his usual spot, cupping your hand in his, letting your wedding bands touch “everything is where you left it. I - I didn’t dare to put everything back, I know how mad you can get when I move your stuff” Ashton let out a sad laugh, holding your hand even tighter “I’m sorry if my hands are a bit rough, I.. well let’s say you wouldn’t want to come into my music room for quite some time. I’m sorry”
Ashton looked at you. The bruises and cuts from the accident were almost fully healed. Your hair was longer, but it wasn’t as soft as it used to be. Your eyelashes rested peacefully over your cheeks, it was almost like if you were dreaming.
“I wish you could tell me how stupid I am. Believe it or not, I miss your nagging” he sighed “I miss everything. I miss you”
The machine that was connected to your heartbeat played its usual melody, filling the gaps that were created by your silence.
“I can’t help but think that this is all my fault. Everyone tells me it’s not, that I wasn’t the one driving drunk on the streets of LA. But then I look at you and, fuck Y/N, I don’t even know if you’re in pain and it kills me. If I could trade your life for mine I would, darling, in a heartbeat.”
‘“ I should’ve paid more attention to the road. I should’ve moved out of the way or.. I should’ve done something to avoid this” silent tears rolled down his cheek, he didn’t even attempt to wipe them away “We had so much ahead of us… we were going to start a family and I.. I can’t help but think that I took that away from you, from us”
‘“ I need you here, Y/N. I need you here by my side. I can’t live without you, I don’t want to live without you, baby. You are my everything, my Y/N, my love. Without you I’m unsteady, you’re my rock, my ending and beginning, my North Star.. Y/N you’re my home. And I know it sounds selfish but I’m not ready to give you away. I love you. I love you so fucking much, Y/N. Please don’t leave me, don’t let go. Come back, baby. I need you”
He cried through every word, every confession. He cried for everything they had and all that they could have if she wakes up. He cried so hard he didn’t notice when her Heart Rate went up all of the sudden.
“Y/N? Baby don’t. No no no no don’t let go” The beeps were faster, violent, shaking up Ashton from sorrow. Having him screaming at the top of his lungs for a doctor.
It all happened so fast. A sea of white coats surrounding the room and pushing Ashton out of the way and into the hall. He tried to step in again, but a nurse cut his way.
“I’m sorry, sir. You can’t go in there” he said, sternly.
“B-but that’s my wife.. That’s my wife!”
“Sir, I will need you to stay calm and stay here while the doctors work. Okay?” He went into the room, opening the door just enough for Ashton to see two paddlers hit your chest.
Ashton punched the walls out of frustration, almost breaking his hand and making it bleed. He rested his head on the furthest wall and slowly fell to the ground, sobbing his heart out.
He stayed like that for a long time before the doctors and nurses stepped out of the room, all of them ignoring him as he stayed on the floor. It wasn’t until Y/N’s head doctor appeared that he got up.
His eyes and face were puffy red, his hand was bruised and swollen. But he couldn’t seem to find a care. Not now. Not when his Y/N was all alone. Not when there’s a chance that she’s not there anymore.
“Mr. Irwin” said the doctor in a low voice that made Ashton’s world fade to grey, swallowing the lump he had in his throat “Mrs. Irwin went into cardiac arrest. It seemed like all of this got the best of her. Her vitals were…”
But Ashton couldn’t hear her anymore. In his mind everything was pure bullshit. All of this speach saying how sorry they were and that you’re in a better place, bullshit. You were gone. You were really gone. The universe could fall apart right there and there and he wouldn’t bat an eyelash. His universe died with you.
His eyes were an empty void. He could see the mouth of the doctor still moving. But all he could think was you. You and your perfect smile, the way your eyes shined every time you talked about something that you were passionate about. The way you looked in your wedding day and how nothing could even come close to the feeling of happiness when you said your ’I do’s’ How you would dance on each and every concert, cheer him up from the side of the stage, waiting to be kissed once it was over. And now you were gone.
He would never hear you laugh or say I love you again. He would never see you walk around the house in one of his shirts, trying to call his attention. He would never feel you close in the mornings, cuddling until you eventually had to let go. You were gone. And he wasn’t ready for that. He will never be ready for a life that doesn’t have you in it.
“... So would you like to see her?” The doctor said. Calling Ashton back to the real world.
“I’m sorry, what?” His shock was palpable. Voice sounding broken and weak as he was. Lips trembling as he held his breath, afraid that he misheard her.
“She’s stable, at the moment. She asked for you. She mentioned something about a rose....”
You were okay? You were awake?!
Ashton burst into the room without a second thought. Tears falling as he saw you looking at him from the hospital bed, smiling weakly. He stood there for a second, whispering as he thought it might be a dream.
“Y/N?”
“Ashton....”
”If you love me, don't let go

Makki looks at Ori, grabbing her hand and instinctively intertwining their hands together. "Ready to go, stinky?"
Ori smiles, bringing their entangled hands up to lips as she presses a soft kiss to his skin.
"Ready."

^naturally, please read below^
Virgil woke up, massaging his forehead and eyes. There was a lot of light in there. He looked at the white above him, noting that that was definitely not the Tracy Island glass ceiling. He couldn’t even hear the voices of his brothers.
He tried to sit down, but the moment he touched the floor retracted his hand as if he had burned himself. It was cold, and...soft, and...white. He looked around, noticing an endless expanse of snow. A white sky and a snowy ground. He sat down, looking better around, and was able to see snowy trees, a cabin.. and an avalanche raging in his direction.
Frightened, he covered his head with his arms, his eyes shut and his breath unsteady, waiting for the impact. Nothing. He listened, and only at that moment he realized that there was no noise. That deafening noise of snow that he remembered well...all too well. He first opened an eye, then closed it, then opened them both, looking in the direction of the avalanche that was suspended in the air, still, motionless, with his hands still on his head. It looked like a tsunami wave, and the snow making dust all around looked like clouds. He took his arms off his head, holding them in front of him, then he stood up. Strangely it was all familiar to him.
"It won’t hurt you." a sweet, harmonious, but still faint voice, reached the ears of Virgil, who turned his head immediately in the direction of its source.
"Mom?" He stopped to look at that figure standing there, as if she had never died. She wore a white dress, looked like a cloud, or perhaps a Greek goddess, and a veil, attached to the woman’s ring fingers, fluttered all around that angelic figure, her black hair voluminous. She didn’t even look real to him.
"You shouldn’t be here." she said in a hurry, her serious expression, the pain visible behind her turquoise eyes.
"But..." Virgil approached slowly, step by step. "...what is this place?" Without noticing he was already in front of the woman.
"This is the place where you will wait."
"Wait for what? I don’t understand!" Virgil asked, and then he was silenced by a sudden sound. He instinctively watched the avalanche, which continued to remain suspended in the air.
'Entering...fibrillation...' Virgil heard a distant voice, a male voice. He could not connect it to any of his brothers. Then a monitor, like those in the hospital, made a horrible noise. The noise of a heart without a heartbeat. Then a deep bang. 'Again...' the voice again. Again the bang.
"You shouldn’t be here!" Lucille repeated. "You have to go back."
In a moment Virgil understood the situation. But..." No."
"But the others need you. Your brothers..."
"I’m sure Scott and John will get away with it. I want to be here with you."
"And your dad?"
"Dad will be the first one to get away without me. He’s building a space station with Brains." Still that empty noise, still that male voice. "I want to stay with you. You left too soon..."
"I know...but it’s not what you think, Virgil." Lucille gently placed her hands on his shoulder. Wait, was he ever that small? "Please, do it for me. I know you don’t want to, but come back, baby. Live your life for me too."
"But I’m only 15 years old. What great life can I live without you? You just left!" Virgil sobbed, trying to dry his face with his black sweatshirt.
"Don’t think about that. Just think about my voice. Close your eyes and listen to me, baby. Think about coming back to life. Promise me."
Virgil looked at her, her face clouded with tears. She smiled at him, nodding her head. He sighed, and then nodded in turn. "I promise. I will miss you..."
"I know...but don’t think about how I died anymore. Just think about the good memories we all had together." Lucille held her son in a long embrace. Her mother was so warm...it seemed that she had never died...
Virgil closed his eyes, and Lucille began to sing a sweet melody, her voice as beautiful as the notes of the piano he occasionally played after school.
The deafening noise disappeared, but the melody remained etched in his mind, as if his mother was still singing it. Now, instead of that fixed, empty noise, there was a sound...of beats. That meant he was alive, wasn’t it? So, if he had opened his eyes now...
And in fact he opened them, seeing only darkness before him. Then was this the world out there? So ugly and empty? He wanted to see beyond, but he realized he was being held by something. His mother’s voice was still echoing in his mind... He tried to wiggle himself out, almost immediately succeeding and noticing that what obscured his sight was nothing more than a female chest. The melody stopped being heard.
Virgil looked up, over him...and realized that his mother was looking back at him, the eyes of both widened in surprise.
"Mom...? You told me I was going back..." Virgil whispered, confused.
"Well..." Lucille was speechless. She expected his son to return safely to his body. She thought for a second, coming to the conclusion that... "If you’re here it means you’re not out of danger yet, but you’re alive! Your heart beats!" her hand shifted from his shoulder to his chest, raised in feeling her baby’s heartbeat. "Do you feel it?" She took his hand, making him carry it on his chest. She was moved.
Virgil smiled. "I feel it, Mom! But shouldn’t I have gone back?"
"Yes. It means you still have to wait a little while before you go home. But what matters is that you’re alive."
"Oh..."
"I’m sorry..." she said, removing a lock of hair from his forehead. The hair he inherited from her.
"Mom...I’m a little tired now..." Virgil found himself rubbing his eyes with one hand, and in Lucille’s eyes he still looked like a child. For her, even if the Virgil in front of her was that of his now 27 years old instead of his 15 years old self she would still see him as a child. Even if he was 80. If only she didn’t die so soon...
"Rest here, on my lap." Lucille said, sitting on the ground and lightly patting her knees. Virgil didn't want her to repeat it twice, lying down immediately, the snow that wet his pants even if he didn't really mind, as long as he was with his mother. He closed his eyes immediately...
...and reopened them shortly thereafter. Now, in that white sky that he expected to find once he opened his eyes, there was some ray of sun that seeped through the clouds and sparkled the snowflakes, as if it were raining glitter. He liked it. He was still in his mother’s lap, but she looked far...in the direction of the avalanche which was now sure to have been the cause of her death.
"I didn’t get too much sleep, did I?" he mumbled, his voice small.
Lucille turned her attention away from what she was looking at, looking down at her son. She narrowed her eyes for a moment, before smiling at him affectionately. "Nah...you only slept 10 years."
"Eh?" he exclaimed, leaping to the perch.
Lucille also stood up, patting away the snow from her dress. "I have to admit, that shirt doesn’t look bad on you." She added, and then took a step forward and took a flap of his shirt, inspecting the red-check lumberjack style and traveling with her eyes from the collar to the last button. She then took his shoulder, making him turn and looking better.
Virgil found himself blushing and stumbling on his own feet, embarrassed. He didn’t say anything, though, because when would something like that ever happen to him again? Sure, Grandma used to do that with all five of them every time one of them bought a new shirt, but if that gesture that came from his mother it meant something else entirely.
Lucille made him turn again so she could find his red face looking at hers. She gestured for him to lower himself, and he obeyed timidly. "Ah, I used to do your hair that way!" she exclaimed happily, removing some rebellious lock from his forehead and marveling at how much gel was on his head. "When you went to bed..." then she stopped.
"Continue..." Virgil implied, a silent pleading.
"When you were younger you always had your hair ruffled. You have so much of it, and yours is also very thick. When we used to take you to the barber, the cut he made only lasted as long as you got out of there. Look, bring some firewood to light the fireplace in, will you? You’ll catch a cold if you keep standing out here in the snow..." She diverted the speech, pointing to the wooden pile next to the cabin. That cabin that used to be their mountain house, and then got sold as soon as possible once they got back to the Ranch with one less person.
Virgil nodded, though he did not feel any cold. Lucille briefly entered the house, a small strip of smoke emerging from the chimney after a few minutes, a sign that the fire was lit. She came out shortly after. "I lit the sticks and bark; do not take too big wood, now is not needed. Anyway, I used to say that because of your thick hair no hairstyle fit you, and then I really liked seeing you with your hair on one side, like you do now." She continued to tell, raising her voice a little while Virgil picked out some thin sticks to carry inside. "You, on the other hand, had a time when you liked all of Scott’s hairstyles and copied them."
He chuckled in surprise. "Really?"
"Yes, yes! When Jeff took you to the family barber, you always wanted what Scott did too. You were 4, more or less. I remember one time when Scott had his hair dyed blue..."
He turned, wood in his hand. "Uhm?" Then he brought it in, while Lucille followed him closing the door behind him.
"You know those colored hair gels? The ones you wash off with a wash? Even if it wasn’t enough...we were damned to remove the blue spots that formed on your brother’s linings!" Lucille was very talkative, and she always had the gift of finding a topic to talk about; this feature was passed on to Gordon, but Alan was also a bit like her. Scott and John instead took after their father: less chatter, more actions. And Virgil...was a mixture of both.
"Yeah, I remember...he was seven or eight at the time." Virgil responded, carefully inserting the wood into the large stone fireplace to revive the fire.
"That’s it. Well, he did this once, and you liked his hair so much that you wanted to do it yourself, naturally green. So you and Jeff went to the barber, only that..." she stopped to smile, a very pleasant memory.
Virgil sat down to look at her, waiting for her to continue and trying to remember at the same time.
"When you came home, you were in tears. You clung to me crying and screaming that your hair wasn’t like mine anymore, and since that day, you haven’t listened to what Scott was doing, following your personal tastes a bit." Lucille sat down in front of the chimney, telling Virgil to approach her.
"I understand." he replied, crouching next to her, the wood crackling in the chimney. "Listen...I have a question."
"Only one?" she giggled.
"Well...no." He admitted smiling, to then get back serious.
"What do you want to know?"
"I really want to tell you so much..."
"From the start, baby."
"Do you miss Dad? Do you miss us?"
Lucille wasted no time answering. "Always." Then she sensed what Virgil wanted to ask her again. "I don’t regret having planned the holiday here."
Virgil looked at her, surprised but in a negative way. "No?"
"No. Never. I was glad to see you all having fun together. I’m just sorry things had to go this way." she stopped talking. "But you know what they say, don’t you? Historia magistra vitae. If it happened, it means it had to be this way."
Virgil nodded, not too convinced. "Anyway, I’m starting to remember...Dad isn’t there anymore either. He’s gone." His eyes got sadder and sadder.
Lucille remained silent, waiting for him to continue.
"I have to help my brothers. They're on their own, and without me...Scott might lose control."
"You saw that, too, didn’t you?"
"Yeah. He can’t do anything without me, the stupid. Not even to calm down."
Lucille smiled sweetly. "Maybe...but as long as you love him. You love them."
"How do I get back?"
"I don’t know how to answer that." Both were interrupted by a rather familiar voice.
"Speak of the devil..." Virgil said, listening to Scott’s voice, as silent as whenever one of his brothers got hurt. He was praying for Virgil.
(lol imagine not ending the chapter on a cliffhanger, can’t relate eheh. but worry not, here’s the 3 letters you were expecting!)

The Unexpected Trespasser Pt. 1
There will be MJ’s name revealed, but it’s NOT my real name just so you know.
It’s been a couple of weeks since Archie send a letter to Malon’s grandparents, and there doesn’t seem to be doing much good. Malon thought of asking her mom about how long it takes to reach to its certain location, until she realize that her mom might ask her ‘why’. Malon thought of just forget about it; at least the letter was sent there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.
Another two weeks later, as dawn came, MJ and Jason were out on the field while there was still dew in the plants, which creates a beautiful glimmer by the sun. MJ was never an early wiser like Jason was, but she was dragged by Jason to join him on a nice morning walk before Malon wakes up. She had to admit, he is worth waking up to on a glorious morning.
Meanwhile, while Malon is still sleeping, she was woken up by the sound of a car parking. Malon took a quick peek and saw the familiar faces from awhile back; she ran out with excitement, “GRANDMA, GRAMPA” Malon cheered excitedly as she hugged her grandma by the leg. Lizzie was startled at first until she recognized the little redhead. “Hello sweetheart. Look at you, so cute.” Lizzie cooed as she picked her up and gave her kisses. Aaron was looking around before he greeted the child. “Where’s your mother--uh... Madeline...” Aaron asked while trying to remember his grandchild’s name. Malon giggled and laughed. “I’m not Madeline, I’m Malon!” Malon explained. “My dad took my mom out on the field this morning, they should be coming back soon.” Malon explained. “Would you two like to come in?” Malon offered. “Please, I have to go to the bathroom!” Aaron said as he rushed right in. Lizzie smiled at Malon, “did you have breakfast yet?” she asked.
While Lizzie makes Malon breakfast, MJ and Jason were on their way back while holding hands. Jason halted as he saw a car by their cabin. “Jason...” MJ said worriedly, “I think we have intruders in our house.” Then she gasped, “oh my God, Malon is still in there!” MJ panicked, Jason pulled out his machete from his belt and rushed right in with MJ running from behind. “Holy cow!” exclaimed a old manly voice. MJ was shocked, “dad?!” then she noticed her mom in the kitchen making waffles, “mom!?" MJ was confused and nervous. Jason dropped his weapon as he’s not thinking of killing his wife’s parents.
MJ was both shocked and confused; how did her parents know she’s still alive? MJ would’ve guessed that her parents thought that their daughter was murdered by the The Shape of Haddonfield back at the hospital. “Mom, dad... what are you guys doing here?” MJ asked with her hands on her hips. Her dad was the one to explain since her mom has to keep an eye on the waffles. “Well Goober-lips, we received a--” he was cut off as he saw Jason trying to hide away his quiet laugh. “Shh sh... Jason, lighten up; yes I know you think it’s funny that my dad calls me Goober-lips, but seriously, get it together.” MJ said. “Sorry dad, continue.” Aaron sighed before he continued. “As I was saying, your daughter sent us a letter and told us that you were still alive and lived your happy lives with your beast.” Aaron explained. Jason stared at Aaron with ‘what did you just call me’ face; only, Aaron couldn’t see it behind his mask.
Malon peeked from the sofa, as she knew that her secret is going to be exposed. MJ noticed her daughter hiding from her and Jason, but she doesn’t want to talk down on her just yet. “Look dad, I appreciate that you and mom wanted to come all the way here to see us, but I don’t feel safe with you guys being here...” Then MJ got cut off, “You don’t feel safe? I don’t feel safe with him just staring at me.” Her dad said as a torment, but also being serious. Jason didn’t want to hear any negative comments from her dad so he walked into the kitchen to check out MJ’s mom. She looked like an older version of his wife only with short hair. Lizzie turned around with a smile. “Uh... Hello Jason... I was just making breakfast... Do you like waffles?” Lizzie asked. Jason assumed that waffles are the same as pancakes, so he gave her a gentle small nod. “Waffles are ready!” Lizzie called out.
At the table, Jason sat with his wife and daughter while Aaron and Lizzie sit on the other end. As they were eating... except for Jason; he rather wait until his wife’s parents leave the room. “Makayla, is he okay?” her mom asked as she said her daughter’s name. “So that’s what your name is” Malon said with a smile. Jason smiled from behind the mask after hearing his wife’s real name. “To answer your question, mom; Jason didn’t want to remove his mask in front of you and dad... he’s... self-cautious with his appearance.” MJ explained. Her mother smiled at Jason, “Aw Jason, sweetie, you don’t have to be ashamed; I’m sure your face doesn’t look too bad--” But when Jason decided to lift up his mask, MJ’s dad gagged and choked on a waffle. “DAD?” MJ panicked. Aaron was choking on a waffle, and his wife doesn’t know the proper way to preform a  Heimlich Maneuver. MJ was going to help him until Jason quickly got behind Aaron and stopped her dad from choking while roughly preforming a Heimlich Maneuver.
While Aaron gained back his air, Lizzie hugged Jason for saving his life. “Well dad, it looks to me that ‘the beast’ saved your life.” MJ said with a smile. “Shut up, Makayla... I appreciate that Jason saved my life, but now my ribs are bruised by the grip." Aaron groaned. “But if it weren’t for my daddy, you would’ve died--” “Malon, stay out of this.” MJ said to Malon in a gentle soft tone. “No, Malon was right, I think you should thank him honey.” Lizzie suggested. Aaron sighed, “alright... thank you Jason...” Aaron thanked. Jason gave Aaron a pat in the back, but didn’t realize his grip, which made Aaron fell. “Ow... someone please help me up--NOT YOU” Aaron scolded at Jason.
Jason walked outside with shame, MJ stared crossly at her dad, “That wasn’t very nice, my husband was just trying to help and you shut him out... After breakfast, you both have to leave!” MJ said sternly, while she picked up both hers and Jason’s plates and went outside to comfort her lover. Malon was sad; she thought her mom and her parents would be so happy together, but it didn’t turn out as she have hoped.
MJ was outside to see Jason sitting out on their porch, MJ was standing behind him and laid her hand on his shoulder; Jason looked up from behind as he sees an angel smiling down at him. “Hey Jay... Mind if I eat my waffle out here with you? I brought out your plate.” MJ said. Jason nodded and accepted her invitation, so they can eat together without him worrying about showing his face. “Jason, I’m sorry for the way my dad acted on you; he’s usually like that when I was growing up, it was hard for both me and my older brother whom also was diagnosed with autism.” MJ explained. Jason wrapped his arm around her and rested his head on hers. “My mom doesn’t seem to mind your appearance; she empathies you, she has seen many people with serious conditions.” Jason nodded and then started to tear up a little. MJ noticed that Jason was sad again, so she put down her empty plate and moved in front of him while facing him. “Look at me... It doesn’t matter what my dad thinks of you, what matters is that you have a family that loves you, you don’t need my dad’s respect just to be part of his family... your my family...” MJ said with a smile. Jason was going to give MJ a kiss by the lips until they both heard the door open.
Aaron and Lizzie were heading out to their hotel where they made a reservation and needed to be on time if they wanted to be booked. While Aaron goes to his car to start it, Lizzie went down and gave her daughter a hug and a kiss, “I love you...” Lizzie said with tears in her eyes. “I love you too mom, thanks for the waffles.” MJ thanked as she was about to tear up too. Lizzie then turned to Jason with a smile. “When I saw your face... I see a survivor, a warrior... I can see why my daughter loves you... So I’m happy to say that I consider you as part of the family; rather my husband likes it or not.” Lizzie said before she gave Jason a kiss by the cheek. Jason was blushing bright red from Lizzie’s kiss; she reminded him of his mother. Malon came out to the door to say her final goodbyes to her grandparents. “Bye grandma...” Malon said as she gave her grandma a hug. “Bye dear...” Lizzie said as she gave Malon a hug and kiss.
While Lizzie starts getting into the car, MJ and Jason faced down at Malon. “Malon... Would you mind telling me why you sent a letter to my parents?” MJ asked. Malon was going to explain until they heard the car sputtering. “God damn it!” Aaron exclaimed. He got out of the car and checked in the hood, then a cloud of smoke came out. Aaron was coughing and choking from the smoke. “Honey... we have a problem...” Aaron called out to his wife.

Story Summary: What if Tim Drake was originally raised by his maternal grandmother for the first eight years of his life due to "circumstances" involving his biological parents? What if Tim's grandmother was also the next door neighbor and occasional sitter for Lucius Fox's family?
Chapter Summary: Still in the present day, Bruce watches over Tim as he sleeps away some of the emotional exhaustion of the morning. Some unexpected information is dragged into the light, and Bruce improvises what to do and say once his son wakes up.
...
How long had it been since Bruce last watched Tim as he slept?
The Wayne patriarch sat quietly on the window seat of Tim's bedroom, but kept his eyes on bed. Barely an hour earlier he'd managed to lead his physically and emotionally exhausted son out of the Nest and back into the living room of his house. Tam had led the way and gave a brief impromptu tour as she showed them to the master bedroom. Tim was barely coherent during most of the walk, and as soon as his head hit the pillow, he passed out. The boy didn't even flinch when Bruce pulled the comforter over him, tucking it over his shoulders. While Alfred asked Tam for a more in-depth tour of Tim's new home, Bruce remained behind.
Tim looked so drained and despondent, even in sleep. It broke Bruce's heart to see his boy this way. The last time Bruce saw this side of Tim was on his first night at the Manor after his biological father had been murdered.
And once again, even now, Jack Drake was the source of his son's misery.
Bruce heard a quiet knock from the bedroom door. After a quick glance at Tim to ensure he was still asleep, he got up and walked to the door.
"Yes Alfred?"
The older gentleman glanced into the room first, assuring himself with brief once over of the slumbering teenager before motioning for Bruce to step out of the room. With great reluctance, Bruce followed the old man out into the hallway, closing the door behind him.
"I wanted to let you know that Miss Fox has left to return home, and I'm on my way out to return to the Manor. Timothy's kitchen is rather sparse on ingredients, so I'm going to prepare some meals and bring them back for when he finally wakes up." Then Alfred brought out a medication bottle and placed it in Bruce's hand, his expression gravely serious. "Before she left, Tamara asked that as soon as Timothy wakes up he is to be reminded to take a dose of this. She said normally he takes it first thing at the office during the work week, but because he never made it there this morning he will need to take his dose as soon as possible."
Bruce's brow furrowed as he read the prescription label on the plastic orange bottle. "Amoxicillin?" His eyes shot back up to Alfred. "Why is Tim on a daily regiment of antibiotics?"
Alfred frowned deeply. "I do not know. I didn't press Miss Fox for clarification as I didn't want to upset her further than she already was this morning. She also appeared to be operating under the assumption that I already knew Timothy was taking this medication."
Bruce shook his head. "What is going on? First we find out Jack was lying to Tim for years about his grandmother, and now Tim is keeping secrets from us regarding his health?"
"From the label, it appears that Dr. Thompkins was the one who prescribed the medication. I should still be on Timothy's HIPAA release forms regarding his medical records. I'll call her on the way to the manor and try to get some answers."
"Thank you Alfred. Please keep me posted." Nodding, Bruce turned away from Alfred and returned to Tim's bedside, sitting down beside him. He gently stroked the teenager's hair from his face, concerned gaze softening as he watched his son sleep.
  ...
For a few hours, Bruce kept vigil over his son. Though a part of him was very curious and wanted to explore the remodeled movie theater in greater depth, he did not want Tim to wake up alone after everything that had happened earlier. So he spent the next couple of hours on his phone distracting himself as best he could by going over Tim's Neon Knights reports that he hadn't had time to review earlier as well as other Wayne Enterprises related work that had been on the backburner for far too long, now that he was taking the time to review everything.
That is, he did so until a text message alert popped up on the screen. It was a message from Barbara.
"Call me."
With reluctance again, Bruce stepped out of the bedroom and into the hallway. He placed his Bluetooth headset on and dialed up Barbara.
"What have you got for me?"
He could hear typing in the background. "Not much... yet. But I definitely get the sense that something was shady happened and was buried back when the original custody arrangement with Tim's grandma was severed. Fortunately for Tim, the ground is soft and I'm prepared to dig."
Bruce allowed himself a small smile at the fierce determination he could hear in Barbara's voice. He knew he could count on her. "What about why Tim was in his grandmother's custody to begin with? Was it just due to Jack and Janet's constant travelling due to their work, or was there something else?"
He listened to Barbara sigh, and there was a pause in her typing. "Definitely something else," she finally replied with an unhappy tone to her voice. "I'm sending you a couple of docs. One of them is the original custody arrangement, initiated when Tim was just two years old. 'Officially'--" Bruce could practically hear the air quotes around the word. "--the paperwork says it was due to the fact that they were travelling constantly for work, that it was more practical for the wellbeing of their son to stay in one constant, stable location and his grandmother was kind enough to open her home to him."
"And the reality?"
"I don't know for certain yet, but I think there may have been some domestic abuse happening. The rest of the docs are some of Tim's medical records from when he was a baby until he turned two. There are a worrying number of reports due to various 'accidental injuries' during this time period, that essentially dried up the moment Tim was in his grandmother's care."
Bruce could taste the bile rising up in the back of his throat as he read over the reports. On their own, if they were one-off occurrences, it would be easy to dismiss the injuries as just "accidents". Nothing was life threatening or permanently damaging, but as time went on, there was a definite pattern and a gradual trend of escalation regarding the severity of the injuries and how frequently they were occurring and requiring visits with his pediatrician or the children's hospital emergency department.
All before Tim even reached the age of two.
  ...
Tim's eyes opened slowly to the pitch darkness of his bedroom. His brow furrowed as he glanced around after sitting up, dislodging the comforter that had been tucked around his shoulders. He plucked at the still warm, very inviting blanket as if he wasn't quite sure if it was real or not before turning his attention to the glowing numbers of his bedside alarm clock.
"Why am I in bed at two in the afternoon?"
He rubbed at his eyes, which felt gritty and itchy. To his surprise, he felt a slight change of texture on his skin beneath his eyes. It was a feeling he was quite familiar with.
"Was I crying?" he thought as he felt the remains of the dried tear tracks on his cheeks before reflexively scrubbing them away with the heel of his hand. "Why was I--?"
Then he froze.
His bedroom door had opened and he recognized the silhouette of his adopted father in the doorway against the daylight filtering in from the hallway.
Then Tim's short term memories from the morning caught up with him, and is breath stuttered audibly in his throat.
"Oh... I remember..."
Bruce had paused when he saw Tim sitting up in his bed. His startled expression quickly bled into concern. "Sorry," he apologized as he stepped further into the room, closing the door partway to dim the light, though he didn't shut it all the way. He shoved his phone into his pocket. "Did I wake you?"
Tim shook his head without a word as he focused his gaze firmly on the quilted lines of the comforter. He felt the mattress shift as Bruce sat down next to him.
"How do you feel?"
The young man dared to glance up at Bruce's question. He opened his mouth as if to answer, but nothing came out. Tim was startled by his lack of words. There were so many thoughts and feelings twisted up inside his head. Heartache... Confusion... Anger... Regret... Betrayal... Surprise... Grief... There was so many conflicting things churning in his mind, like a pot threating to boil over.
But he couldn't find his voice for any of it.
All Tim could do was close his mouth, bowed his head, and let his expression communicate how miserable he felt.
Suddenly, the bed shifted again and Tim felt a strong arm wind itself around his back as a hand gently clasped his shoulder. He tilted his head upward to see that Bruce had moved to sit beside him and drew him into a one-armed half-hug that gave him a choice of either leaning into the embrace or escaping it if it was going to be too much for him. Tim was stiff for a moment as he processed the unspoken choice he'd been given. Then, slowly, he relaxed into his adopted father's embrace and leaned against him with a small sigh.
"Having a hard time processing everything?"
Tim nodded.
A low hum of acknowledgement rumbled from Bruce's throat that Tim could feel. A corner of his lips twitched upward even as he closed his eyes wearily. It felt nice. He felt safe.
"Do you want to talk about anything right now?"
The teenager thought about it for a moment before shaking his head. Now that he felt safe and comforted, the tendrils of sleep that had slipped away earlier were returning to drag him under once again. He was still so very tired.
Bruce seemed to guess that his son wanted to go back to sleep. "Before you pass out again, Tam said you need to take these." He reached over for the nightstand and grabbed the orange bottle.
Tim blinked at the bottle in drowsy confusion, though once he recognized the label of his prescription, his eyes widened. His posture had stiffened and he looked at Bruce with a guilty hesitant expression. "I-- I can explain..." he forcefully croaked out in a barely audible tone.
His father shook his head to stop Tim from speaking. "Is Leslie fully aware of what is going on and why you're on this medication?"
Tim nodded.
Bruce gave him a small reassuring smile. "Then, we can talk about this later," Bruce said "As long as you're not in any immediate danger, we can postpone this conversation. But since this involves your health, especially your immunity if I'm recognizing this medication correctly, I don't want you going out on patrol until we clear the air about this, alright?"
With a resigned sigh, Tim nodded again. "Fair."
Once he'd taken his antibiotics, Tim made himself more comfortable again in his bed. After resting his head on his pillow, before he could allow himself to drift off, there was one question he had to ask his father. "Bruce?"
"Hm?"
"Who else knows?"
"Alfred was with us earlier, though I'm not sure how aware you were of everything that happened in your Nest," Bruce revealed, to which Tim nodded thoughtfully. "Barbara knows as well." At Tim's confused look, Bruce clarified. "I asked her to investigate how... all this happened. Was it just oversight or was it something malicious?"
"But I can--"
Bruce shook his head. "I could never ask you to investigate your own father. That would be too cruel." Bruce said sadly. Then he reached out to stroke Tim's hair in a soothing gesture. "And... I don't want you to focus on Jack right now. In fact, I want you to take a break from Wayne Enterprises and being Red Robin as well, at least for the rest of this week."
Tim felt the words of protest rise up in him almost like a reflex. He tried to sit up and was fully prepared to launch into an argument right then and there about being benched. He paused though, when Bruce pressed a hand to his shoulder to stop him, and he could see the naked compassion in the older man's eyes.
"There's someone else who deserves your undivided attention right now, especially if you want them back in your life again."
Tim's breath got caught in his throat, and despite having felt like he cried himself out earlier, he could feel his eyes begin to tear up once more. New thoughts and feelings surrounding his grandmother began swirling around in his head, robbing him of his voice just as the earlier thoughts had done so, though these were nowhere near as angry, raw, and painful as the ones when he first woke up.
Bruce's smile was equal parts reassuring and wistful. Tim stared at Bruce's face trying to read the unfamiliar expression. He could tell that love was feeding the look his father was giving him, and it made him feel warm inside. But there was... something else hiding behind Bruce's blue eyes... a melancholy that he couldn't decipher that made his own heart ache to see.
Before he could ask Bruce about it, much to the teenager's surprise, his father leaned down and pressed a quick kiss to the crown of his hair. "Get some more rest," Bruce instructed as he rose to his full height and turned to leave the room. "I'll be here when you wake up."
Still stunned by the impromptu display of affection, Tim could only nod numbly as he watched Bruce step out of the bedroom and close the door behind him. Though his thoughts and emotions still churned inside him for a time, eventually sleep reclaimed him.
...
Author's Notes:
Author's Note: Bruce is trying really hard to be a good father in this story. A part of him both wants to ensure Tim is reunited with his grandmother, since it's clear the boy loved the woman. However, there is a part of him that is afraid that once he has his grandmother back, Tim might decide to leave him and the rest of his adopted family behind to remain with her. However, if that is Tim's choice, who would he be to deny him? What would Bruce do if he was given a chance to have his own mother back in his life? What about any of his other children (who had decent caring mothers...)?

Note
Hi. My erratic moods, and loss of control over my words and actions, my inability to be calm and collected, and worse, to keep the unhelpful intrusive thoughts IN my head are causing me trouble. (eg just recently someone in my family was going to the hospital for a possibly serious checkup and they joked, as I saw them at the door, "If I die then forgive me". And like, ik it's a joke. But a deep primal part of me, in front of everyone, lost it and as they turned away I heard myself screaming: "If I die, then YOU CAN BE HAPPY" and I just couldn't control it. I did find the pause in between the words and my reaction (Eckhart Tolle), yet I failed to at least restrain myself, from lashing out. Ik it's the 'demons' who think they'll be happy if I die etc. Worse was, my grandma (who doesn't know the extent of my issues) witnessed this. It sucks. I want to cry. Why did I react that way?)
What really is up with me? This has nothing to do with what was said (and I even know that the joke was a self defense mechanism coz my family mmbr was worried themselves about the check up). But the way I shouted that... It was serious. I think I did mean it. It's lame hahah, especially coz I was thinking I was starting to be able to control myself? To assuage the 'darkness' within, and I even believe things are definitely less hopeless thanks to the loa and me influencing reality
Maybe it was just a random thing. Ofc it's impossible to heal overnight, yet I do feel... Ashamed of my reaction (like hello, why couldn't I have stopped myself from saying that out loud at least? I could've just laughed it off and said "yeah okay me too" or smth less intense. They already mock me for my 'tantrums'. Welp, such is life and I've been doing my best to stay alive and normal for many years now)
Any way you can suggest using loa to make myself less... reactive and emotionally nuclear bomb-ish? The funniest thing is I was normal the whole day then this stupid outburst screaming 'woe ie me boohoo' happens. Gah I wanna curse lol
I did start conscious healing some months ago. Maybe I have pent up rage or emotion and I gotta idk journal or smth? I do affirm, I do try to fix my thought patterns (as opposed to never even realising I had a choice before). I'm not saying I'm doing enough. I'm not saying I'm consistent. But I am better than before. Then this happens?! Wdyt?
And another thing, the more I get into loa/beliefs/assumptions etc, and try to restructure my life, I feel wayyy more exposed and vulnerable
You are one of my faves in the loa spectrum btw
Hi!
Honestly, nothing is wrong with you. I think that you're being a little harsh on yourself, that's all. I mean, I get being put off by your outbursts. But weirdly, it's not actually something you need to analyze, although you may want to. I mean, that's how we worked in the past right? We always wanted to analyze the 3D and our behavior. But there's actually nothing to analyze anymore. There's nothing wrong with you, even like this.
I think that when we get into the law especially, and we start making progress, we're completely ashamed of ourselves when it seems like we are suddenly regressing. But actually, like I was saying, we don't have to take it that seriously. It actually doesn't have to mean anything is wrong with us. We can still totally be on the right path. Thing is, things that are living within us will find a way out. And that's all you experienced. Practice letting it pass and returning within yourself, to your inner world where you have been making great strides. It's not always for us to figure out why something happened. Instead, it's up to us to decide what we want to focus on moving forward.
If you feel the need to journal and let it all out, don't stop yourself! Write it out, allow yourself that space to say what you need to say and maybe you will figure something out in the process. Do not be afraid to release what you're feeling, allow it.
On the flip side of that, you can approach these outbursts with more compassion for yourself. I mean, the law really calls for us to come back to unconditional love for ourselves at all times. It's a constant practice. You don't have to feel ashamed anymore. Like I have said before, anything that we do was done perfectly. We think we have all these controls over our actions, because we forget we are ourselves pushed out. Even our freewill ends passed our minds. We only have freewill within. Every action we take in the 3D falls in line with the state we are in. This why we cannot do anything wrong! So don't fall for the 3D illusion, even in regard to yourself. It may be hard and weird to grasp, but allow yourself that space to at least move into some sort of acceptance. It will all click the more you choose to focus on your inner world, and what you can do within. Do not worry about what you can do in the outer world. Because really, you can do nothing.
So how do you tackle this? Well, like usual, get an idea of who you want to be. Don't think about how to get there, really. It's not your job. All you need to know is your end goal. And if you don't know it clearly, intend to for clarity. But after that, all you need to do is choose to embody that version of you everyday. You do this in your mind. You don't need to "act as if" unless you like to. Some days may be easier or harder than others. It doesn't matter if you trip up or totally are out of the state some days. The point is you keep persisting, you keep doing your best to go back to that version of you within in your mind. Without knowing how, that effort truly does add up and gets you exactly where you want to be.
To your final comment, I totally feel this. I have never been more vulnerable than I am now. I mean, the more I learn about the law, it's like the more I wear my heart on my sleeve. There's emotions I could run from before, that I can't run from now. I feel more exposed than ever. Because our fears, despite being our prison, often work as a shield. And the more you come into the law and have to dismantle the illusion of your fears, the more exposed you feel. And it's okay. I just try to remind myself that behind any uncomfortable feelings, I am making my way towards absolute love and freedom. Behind these illusions I built for myself, the more love and freedom can make it's way into my life. And it's comforting to see it that way and it allows me to keep going even when I feel too scared to. I know I am on the right path. Hopefully this helps you feel that way too.
Anyway, thank you for your nice compliment! I hope you are doing well! 💖

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟔  》 her explanation, their emotions

summary  》  Finding Jb’s pack was quite easy, but gaining their trust and making them believe she was their childhood friend, the princess in their dreams was far opposite of easy.
characters  》  Gae Aera, Lim Jaebeom, Mark Tuan, Jackson Wang, Park Jinyoung, Choi Youngjae, Bambam, Kim Yugyeom
warnings/author’s note  》  another long post!, slight vulgar
  genre  》  fantasy, got7!as!werewolves
“Asking for your trust isn’t easy and I understand, but for the sake of finding answers regarding my past, could you please just guide me to Aerina’s kingdom?’
Tumblr media
“The princess has found her saviors, her own pack, but what happens when her trust and memories are about to be tested - when the possibilities of reincarnations existed?”
Just like in her memories, it was really them.
Aera’s eyes slowly widened as soon as they shifted into their human form, instantly recognizing each one of them.
Just like her, the 7 of them grew into fine young men and judging from how they look, Aera guessed that they were 20 and above of age. Adding on, Grandma Kim wasn’t lying or exaggerating - they are a bunch of good looking guys.
On the other hand, the 7 of them still didn’t believe if the young woman in front of them was their old childhood friend, the princess of where they had lived ever since they were young.
The only way to find out if she is really the one is by looking at her scar.
As they were told by their ancestors, souls and spirits can copy others but they can’t copy scars or birthmarks.
Their princess has a scar on her neck and the one who could identify it correctly would be Jackson as he has the identical scar visibly on his face.
“Can I… see your scar?” Jackson questioned with a mutter as Aera nodded while shifting her hair to the side - Jackson going to her right side.
His eyes immediately widen, his focus shifting towards Aera.
There were thousands of emotions he felt and that led to him having tears, enveloping her into his arms abruptly - causing Aera to shriek slightly.
She could feel Jackson tightening the grip on her body and hearing his soft sobs.
His other friends were obviously confused and taken aback, as they waited for Jackson to say a word - seeing him letting go of Aera with a smile and a shy chuckle, meeting Aera’s eyes who just looked at him with a slight smile.
“So it’s really her?” Jinyoung was the first one to ask as Jackson turned towards the beta with a nod.
“Yes. It’s really her.” Jackson muttered with a small smile, eyes turning towards Aera.
“Then why couldn’t we smell her completely? As if her scent was blocked by something…” Mark questioned with a frown, his eyes turning towards Aera - he still was wary of her, still didn’t believe if it was her.
“That’s because she was being put on a spell,” Youngjae answered, smiling slightly towards Aera - Young jae had somehow found out, seeing the spell slowly die down and completely smelling her scent that everyone could recognize.
“He’s right. I could strongly smell Grandma Kim’s smell on her…. How is she?” Yugyeom stated, his eyes immediately turned towards Aera - seeing her lips curved upwards.
“A very strong, healthy woman. She is very well for someone who is.. well.. old.. She misses you,” Aera answered softly while looking towards Yugyeom on the opposite - seeing his cheeks turning pink.
Bambam had to nudge the taller one on the arm, giving him a smirk.
‘Did I mention that she is very pretty? I mean look at how well she grew!’ Bambam voiced his thought, to meet a few stares from the others.
‘Yeah.. She has the same features. There’s no way souls and spirits could copy her. She is beautiful,’ Youngjae added, looking at the older ones as their eyes as they were giving a few glances towards Aera who was talking to Jackson.
As Jinyoung was glancing towards her, he noticed that blood was rolling down on her arm.
“Hey! You’re injured!” Jinyoung exclaimed, earning attention from the others.
Aera blinked as her eyes traveled to her arm.
“Oh right!”
Tumblr media
Jaebeom and Mark were very wary of Aera. They still couldn’t believe it.
Jinyoung on the other hand was trying to figure out if it's really her and by seeing how she interacted with the others, he might have to consider to believe more on the prophecy.
“Ouch!”
“Stop fidgeting!” Youngjae argued while trying to put on some healing plant while trying to stop her from squirming.
“Let’s not beat around the bush. I- I mean we have a lot of questions to ask.” Bambam decided to bring another topic - his voice turned serious as his eyes moved from the fire then to Aera, while sitting around the bonfire.
It was surprising for the 6 of them as it was the first time hearing how serious Bambam is.
He is like a jokester of the pack.
“Sure.. I have nothing to hide anyway,” muttered Aera, her eyes sticking onto the smoke.
“Why did you leave?” Bambam questioned and her gaze suddenly fell towards the fire - a frown slowly appeared on her face.
“Wait.. so everyone thought I left? As far as I heard, they said I went missing and claimed dead…?” Aera answered, looking at Bambam with a serious look.
“We could only think that way, since you are here.. in front of us..” added Yugyeom and Aera sighed.
“I didn’t leave… I was drowned.. I remembered Youngjae saw everything,” Aera slightly turned towards the one who was putting on medicines on her arm, as she met his eye contact.
She could see the pain emotion in his eyes, quickly looking away from her.
“I tried.. to erase those memories..” Youngjae muttered, while gulping the lump on his throat as he continued to clean her arm.
“You didn’t answer the question,” The alpha finally spoke, his expression was serious as he doesn’t show any slight emotion.
Aera could feel and see that he was slightly angry.
“I didn’t mean to leave, you know.. If I recall, I was helping a bunch of humans who were drowning and the water somehow turned clear when it was actually murky. Next thing I saw scary looking mermaids and then I thought I was dead-dead..” explained Aera, her eyes didn’t leave Jaebeom as she finds him interesting yet intimidating.
She just wanted to clear things out.
“And I can remember you… shouting and yelling for me..” Aera turned towards Youngjae slightly. He could only smile slightly.
Youngjae was surprised that she remembered him, calling out for her since that was the last time she remembered her childhood.
“But… if you’re not a soul nor a spirit, what are you?” Mark questioned softly and Aera looks at him in amused.
“A human. I actually came from the human world.” Aera answered and everyone gasped slightly as they looked towards each other.
“Wait.. are you perhaps.. a reincarnation of Aera?” Jinyoung questioned with a deep frown and Aera sighed slightly.
“I don’t know… maybe..” muttered Aera, she could feel the disappointments from the others and that made Aera clear her throat.
As soon as she could feel Youngjae tightening a knot on her arm, she quickly stood up.
“Thank you for your hospitality but.. I’m here to find answers from the White Queen. Grandma Kim said the White Queen has the answers to my questions.” Aera explains as she looks at each one of them with a slight smile.
Some of them, mainly Jackson, Youngjae and Yugyeom were captivated by her beauty. The Aera in front of them is beautiful, gorgeous.
They believed the prophecy as she looked exactly like her but as what she said, she isn’t a soul or spirit.
Jinyoung on the hand was just in the middle, still watching her every move - every detail that could match with her childhood friend that everyone believed to be dead.
Mark and Jaebeom, they were too into their own emotions. Mark is just sad while Jaebeom is somehow annoyed and upset - and what they didn’t know is that Aera could feel their every emotion and she could tell their emotions were in the middle.
“Reincarnation or not, asking for your trust isn’t easy and I understand fully - but for the sake of finding answers regarding my past, could you please just guide me or tell me to go to Aerina’s kingdom?” Aera pleaded, softly yet firm - looking at them as if she was begging them.
The way she asked made them feel down.
The subordinates looked towards the alpha as his gaze went downcast, looking towards his betas and delta - before turning towards Aera.
“We’ll help you,”
Tumblr media
“Jaebeom, we can’t just let her go all alone in the forest!”
“Jinyoung’s right! I mean, she is still a girl! Maybe one of us should just guide her!”
The younger ones could only sigh, hearing the constant argument from Jaebeom, Jinyoung and Jackson.
It’s been 3 hours after sending a girl that was claimed to be Aera, off to the correct and safe direction to Aerina’s Kingdom known as the White Queen’s Kingdom.
The pack had split comments about the girl - Youngjae, Jackson and Yugyeom believed the girl was Aera, their long lost friend and a princess while Jaebeom and Mark didn’t believe she was the Aera they knew while Jinyoung was in the middle.
“It’s too late, isn’t it? I already sent her off!” Jaebeom hissed in annoyance, turning towards Jinyoung and Jackson - Jinyoung could only look away while Jackson didn’t budge from his alpha’s dominant eye contact.
“Well, it’s not too late to go after her!” Jackson argued and Jaebeom scoffed, walking a step towards Jackson, with a slight smirk - Jaebeom knew Jackson was still in love with Aera - romantic ones, not the siblings love. He knew Jackson still had a little feelings for her.
“You believe that was Aera? The Aera that you loved once? Well guess what, I think she’s long gone. She’s dead, gone, vanished whatever—
Before Jaebeom could continue his words, he was abruptly being pushed down by Jackson roughly, seeing his eyes glowing in silver - his eyes filled with anger, disappointment and devastation.
It’s been a while Jackson felt angry towards the alpha, it’s been more than years - the last time he felt furious was the day he had an argument with Jaebeom and Aera’s name was accidentally being heard of.
It wasn’t the alpha’s intention to say her name. But this time, Jaebeom was aware of what he was saying.
“Jackson! That’s enough! He’s our alpha!” Bambam called out at the back - feeling an arm roughly grabbing him from the Mark. Jackson met Mark’s eyes, as if telling the younger one to cool down before things get messy.
Jackson roughly let go of his arms, narrowing his eyes onto Jaebeom, who was getting up with the help of Jinyoung and Youngjae, as he walked away from the pack to a different direction.
“Jackson! Where are you going!?!” Yugyeom yelled to the older one who had shifted into his worm form, eyeing towards Jaebeom.
'Since everyone is being a selfish dick, I’m accompanying the girl to the White Queen’s Kingdom - whether she is a reincarnation of Aera or Aera herself,’

So Far
We have had a lot going on in our lives. So We went up to Kamiah, Idaho just before Father's Day. We surprised my father in law with the visit. It was nice to see his reaction. :)
Well during our visit we helped friends move, which was no problem really, many hands make for light work. Tuesday we hung out with just dad and mom and we went sight seeing and fishing. Akasha and I didn't end up doing a lot of fishing, we spent our time fighting a drift wood tree.
We headed home on Wednesday. Which wasn't all bad, I got a phone call asking if I'd be interested in a job at a local grocery store, which was awesome. I interviewed Thursday morning. Great! Then we were about 45 minutes from home when we got the second phone call. It was Akasha's Grandma. Seems Grandma's sister and brother, my daughters Great aunt and uncle have COVID-19 and are in the hospital. Grandma might have to go in too. Auntie had to have surgery and she had to be brought back. Grandma hung up the phone.
My daughter told us what had happened and what it meant. It meant no Father's Day, it meant no possibility of good bye. and most important, it meant no closure. Thursday, I interview, I got the job. Thursday we got a call about Grandma going into the hospital. Friday rolls around and still no word. Saturday, my daughter goes to my sister's house. Her cousin is helping keep her mind off the crap that's 100% out of her control. Well, that evening I got a phone call that Auntie had to have a second surgery and she wasn't doing too well.
Sunday, we got the dreaded phone call. Auntie had passed away at 3 am. My daughter was pretty upset, honestly I would've been more worried if she hadn't reacted at all. We went to church and her bonus mom Debby called me. "Hey is there anyway Akasha could come over, I'm sure it would brighten her father's day?" Sure no problem. I know my ex well enough that when he shuts down and he goes inside himself it's dangerous. It's the same for his daughter. They have very explosive anger.
So my daughter stays until Tuesday evening. Wednesday she goes to Girls Camp. I go to work. My husband is left to do the running around. Taking girls to their activities and our Bug to gymnastics etc. Well I asked him to bring the girls to work so I could see them. He was running nearly an hour late. I was worried, but he finally showed up. He came in clearly physically upset. I asked him what's up? He answered with "Can you please take a break?" "Yeah of course, just as soon as my co-worker gets back from her break" "Okay thank you". Now ya'll my husband doesn't normally say thank you for something like a break... unless it's something super bad and super serious. So now I'm on high alert.
Well come to find out my mother in law has been back in here where we live for quite some time. And Wednesday just happened to be convenient enough for her to tell her son that his stepdad has three different cancers along with colon cancer. I'M AT WORK! I cannot deal with this right now. My life is falling apart because of what's going on with my ex in laws. I can't handle this too.
Now, I'm sitting here and I am trying desperately to figure out why and how families can be so heartless. My mother in law/that family, has done this to my husband EVERY SINGLE time someone from "THAT" side of the family has died. They tell him, "Hey so and so has only so long left" full well knowing that had they just picked up the phone sooner my husband could've had more time with whoever it was. Instead they leave him with the guilt of not spending enough time. They did it with his grandmother, his grandfather and now his stepdad. It pisses me off to no end.
How can you be so heartless? To tell someone "Hey, so and so is dying" and then not check on him? Not take the time out to see how it is effecting him? Do you think that that kind of news won't effect him? Do you think that he's just as heartless as you? My husband has spent the better part of 20 years in a love/hate relationship with this stepdad. I feel like that is the way it is with every stepparent relationship. It's a love/hate depending on mood or even time of day.
So to tell someone something like that and then just drop them like a hot potato is bullshit in my opinion. Makes me just irritated. To top it off they told my husband, "Don't tell your father or your brother" Don't tell the two people that will give you the support that you need. Don't tell the two people that can help you work through you're emotions. And make sure your wife doesn't tell a single soul either, because she has Facebook.
Yall, the last time I actually hung out on Facebook, ugh, it's been a minute. I have better things to do with my time. Anyway. I'm trying to process.
None the less, because it is me and my husband's relationship and we've been together going on 13 years, I have gotten to know my husband's patterns pretty well. He bottles his emotions up. He bottles em up because ain't nobody gonna help him work through them.
So we ended up fighting pretty bad yesterday (Friday). I always feel bad when he and I fight. I never want to hurt him. He never wants to hurt me. We are both still learning. We're learning effective communication. We're learning how to say certain things and we are also learning to how validate each other's feelings. We grew up in a time that our parents scheduled fights, made sure the kids weren't home so they could make up as loudly as they needed to later.
So we fought. Now, I don't care who it is, every single person who's been in a fight with me knows how physically draining it is. I say some pretty hard to swallow truths. I am not Willy Wonka, I don't sugar coat anything. When you are being stupid I will call you out on it. When I have had enough I will leave or I will simply smile and say, "Are you done yet?"
I don't fight fair either.
To watch my husband be in such pain that he would rather be cruel to me than to open up to me and simply state, "I am no okay, I'm hurt because people seem to think that this kind of thing doesn't effect me and it does very deeply." Men! *insert eyeroll* So, I called his brother, ya know, the one we're not supposed to tell. I called him and asked him to just be there for his little brother right now, because I have a different way of looking at this whole situation than they do and neither one of them likes it.
I am of the mind that hey, you get what you get and don't throw a fit. If you are a shit human being in life and you KNOW you are a shit human being and you don't try to change it, instead you use the slogan, "Eh, I'm too old to change my ways" screams you are a narcissist. That is totally unacceptable. For someone to sit there and tell another human being that they aren't allowed to grieve with someone who understands them is also unacceptable. To try to control someone's life the way they've tried controlling ours.
Look I am all for respecting someone's wishes, but when it comes to cutting someone off from the only support they have, how can you do that to someone? And for what? Because you have a grudge? Dude you're dying drop the bullshit mask and fucking die in peace. Let shit go!
I'm sorry I have rambled on enough. But there ya have it. A look at what's been going on in my life thus far. I just simply wish everyone a day. Have whatever day you think you deserve. I love you all.
