you and nash met at a horse riding club, when you were 11 and he was 13 years old.
since you two were practically the only children in the private establishment, you two were often in each other's presence.
you made eye contact a few times but never spoke to each other. you thought he was pretty cute.
“hey mom, do you know who that guy was?” you asked your mom once when you were leaving the place.
“oh yeah, that’s skye’s son, nash. i’m friends with his mom, why?”
“nothing” you say with a small smile as you continue to walk.
“are you sure it’s nothing?“ she asks as she looks at you with a laugh.
“yes, mom,” you reply as you start giggling slightly. you start to approach the car door, and your mom opens the door for you.
“i was your age once too, you know,” she laughs, and jokingly roll your eyes before joining in.
the next lesson you had, with some encouragement from your mom, you decided to speak to him after the lesson ended. he was standing in the reception, seemingly waiting for someone to pick him up, as were you.
“hi.” you smile at him when he turns to look at you, and he returns it back.
“hey, i know you; i've seen you ‘round here”
“yeah, we’re like the only two kids in the building,” you reply with a small laugh.
“you’re right on that,"  he says with a small chuckle, and then you ask another question.
“are you waiting on your parents?”
“my moms pretty busy, so someone comes and picks me up.” he says, sounding slightly less confident as he did before.
“oh, lucky!” you respond, oblivious as to why a driver picks him up instead of his own mother . “my mom just talks and talks the whole way through the car ride—also, did you know my mom and your mom are friends? ”
he raises an eyebrow at your last statement. “really, how’s that?”
“i don’t know, my mom just told me.”
“you were talkin’ ‘bout me?” he says, a grin starting to appear on his face.
you nervously chuckle and continue “um, i just asked my mom who you were, ‘cause like, she kinda knows everyone.”
“did you get your answer?” he says, and you realize he has a texan accent.
“i think so; you’re nash, right?”
“yep. and you’re y/n, right?” he uses the same intonation as you, and raises his eyebrows with a smile as he tilts his head slightly.
“yeah! how’d you know?” you say with a large smile on your face.
“i know things,” he replies, and you thought you were hallucinating when he winked at you.
he tore his attention away from you to the door, noticing someone who looks like you walking through the door.
“‘s that your mom?” he says with a chin nod, and you turn to follow his gaze.
“oh,” you say, slightly disappointed that your conversation would have to come to an end.  “yeah, it is.”
you turn back to him, and he speaks again.
“you ready for the talking?” he questions, quoting you from earlier.
you let out a chuckle through your nose, “yeah, i’ve gotten used to it.” you two make eye contact for a few seconds with no words and decide to speak again “i guess i have to go, my moms waiting.”
“i guess you do”
“do you have a habit of repeating everything i say?” you say with an inquisitive look on your face and a smile.
he runs his hand over his mouth in an attempt to hide his own smile, and shrugs
“maybe,” he says with that damn smile that makes you feel like there’s a whole zoo in your stomach.
he looks behind you once again and sees your mom waiting for you, looking slightly bored.
“it looks like your mom is still waiting.” you turn to look at your mom, then back to him. “i’ll see ya later then?” he continues.
“bye, i’ll see you later” you repeat his words and deepen your voice in an attempt to mock him, to which he laughs at, before you turn around and walk to your mom, who immediately pulled you into a hug and walked with you with her arm around your shoulder.
before the automatic door opened, you turned to wave at nash, he reciprocated it with another chin nod and a raise of his hand. however, when looking at you and your mom, he had a new, unrecognizable look on his face. ‘he’s probably bored because now he’ll have to wait alone’ 11 year old you thought.
you two got so much closer over the span of a few weeks, and soon enough, you were going over to each others houses all the time.
you noticed that he spent a lot of time with his brothers, and he was a great role model. you didn’t really learn the reason why until years later, but you still found it so admirable.
you two would do everything together, sometimes you’d simply go over to each other's houses to do nothing together.
nash quit horse riding lessons when he was around 15, and instead decided to use some of the money that he practically never touches towards buying two horses and building a shed. he named one of them after you by anagramming your full name, but never told you.
the next time you came over, he was extremely smiley, which was definitely different from his usual persona.
“okay, what’s up with you? you’ve been smiling all day,” you say, bringing up the question that has been clouding your mind since the second you stepped in his room.
“nothin’, just grateful to be alive. what, a man can’t smile?”
“you’re barely 16, what “man” are you talking about?” you say with a laugh, and he can’t help but chuckle.
“alright, let me show you something,” he says as he stands up from the couch you were both sitting on and offers you his hand.
“okay,” you make that sound more like a question as you his hand and follow him out of the room.
“where are we going?” you ask as you two step out the back doors and are now outside in the backyard.
“what’s with all the questions today?” he stops in his tracks and turns to face you, looking down at you with a grin on his face, slightly squinting as the sun was directly above you two. “it’s like we have the riddler over here,” he says with a deep chuckle.
“you can’t blame a girl for being curious,” you retort, squinting as you lift your hand and use it as a makeshift visor from the sun.
“but you can blame a man for smilin’?”.
“yep, you’re actually spot on.”
he fake-sighs and looks away from you, then looks back at you, a smile involuntarily finding his face. “whatever the lady says,” he says as he grins down at you.
“you’re learning!”
“yes, i am. let’s continue now, yeah? i’m sweatin’ out here” he says as he reaches his hand out to you. then you put your hand down from your face and connect it with his.
when he showed you the horses, you literally stopped in your tracks and gasped, instinctively walking over to them and petting them. when you realise what you’re doing, you remove your hand and turn back to nash. “oh my god, i can’t believe it- i-when did you do this?”
he chuckles with his hands in his pockets, leaning back slightly on his heels, “i’ve been planning it for a while,”
“oh my god, and they’re yours? like completely? oh my- can i?” you ask to pet the horses, practically stumbling over your words because of how shocked you are.
“you don’t have to ask, i got ‘em for us,” he says, quieter than his usual tone, as a sense of familiarity and warmth spread through him. he forgot how much he loved seeing you with animals.
“no you didn’t,” you gasp as you whip your head around and turn to face him completely, “oh my god, nash,” you turn and look at the horses again, “what are their names?” you ask whilst petting them.
he tells you the names, and one of them piques your interest. “wait, can you repeat that last one again?” you ask as you turn around with your eyebrows furrowed in question. he smiles, confirming your suspicions as he repeats it.
“there’s no way you anagramed my name to name a horse,” you chuckle and he walks towards you.
he’s standing right infront of you, and you realise he’s basically towering over you. “when did he get so tall?” “has he always been this tall, or am i just realising this? - and when did he start looking like that”
you’re quickly brought out of your thoughts when he responds. “hey, i couldn’t not name my favorite animal after my favorite girl,” he says, grinning down at you.
you slightly giggle and briefly look to the side before pulling him into a hug. you were on your tiptoes, but he crouched down to meet your height so you wouldn’t have to.
“seriously though, i love you so much nash, you’re the best friend in the world.” you mumble into his shoulder as he rubs your back up and down.
friend. he felt a pit in his stomach. why did that word suddenly have a sting to it? “i love you, more than you know.”
as time went on, you were practically a member of the family and would participate in the saturday morning games. you noticed nash would often figure it out before his brothers did, but let them take the win.
“why do you do that? let them win? you’re insanely smart, but you never show it.”
he takes a deep bath before answering your question. “they’re just kids, they desperately want to please the old man because, well.” he trails off, not really wanting to bring up his mom, more so, her absence. he continues “i just want them to be happy, they deserve it.” you look at him with love written all over your eyes, it’s like everyday he unknowingly pushes the agenda that he’s the best person ever. “yeah, i get that.” he meets your eyes and for a few seconds it genuinely feels like time stopped.
your moment was suddenly interrupted by xander running through the room, “nash! guess what!” and he starts telling nash about his win. nash looks back at you, his face saying “you see what i mean?” you give him a knowing smile and he turns back to xander.
“no way kid, how’d you figure it out?”
xander rambles on about the riddles, the clues, and the game in general, and you watch their conversation, wondering how you got so lucky to know these one-of-a kind people. how you got so lucky to know nash.
that wasn’t the only time one of nash’s brothers would barge into his room. it was actually quite a common occurrence.
one time you were hanging out in his room, just sitting on his bed and talking, when all three of his brothers barged in the room, jameson in front, grayson not far behind him, and xander behind grayson laughing his head off whilst running.
“woah woah woah,” nash repeated as he stood up from the bed, “what’s going on here?” he stood infront of you, making sure jameson wouldn’t barge into you as he steadied him by grabbing onto his shoulders.
“tell jameson to give my usb stick back.” grayson says as he tries to tackle jameson, however, his attempts were quickly stopped by nash. “listen here, if you two want to fight, go fight. but not here, not when y/n’s over? alright?”
“sorry” they both grumble under their breath.
“is y/n your special friend?” little xander asks, seemingly having recovered from his fit of laughter. he was honestly just here for the fun of it.
“yes actually, she’s a very special lady, which is why i’m telling your brothers off for acting like that infront of her.”
“oh i’m very special?” you ask sarcastically
“yes ma’am” he turns to look at you and for a brief second, he forgets his brothers were in the room for a second.
he turns back when he hears grayson trying to pry the usb out of jamesons hands and jamesons' yells.
you were honestly glad, because you were 110% sure your face was about as red as a tomato at this point. he had a way with words, that’s for sure.
“jamie, give your brother his usb stick back, grayson, go away and keep the fighting to a minimum, xander, you continue whatever you were doin’, and all of you, out of my room.”
he leads them all out, while xander was laughing again, jameson and grayson both had their heads down but you could see jameson still smiling, and you heard a snicker coming from him when nash closed the door behind them.
he closed his eyes and sighed for a second after he shut the door, and when he opened them you both started laughing.
“they can be such little critters sometimes, huh?” he says followed by a chuckle.
“i love them; it’s like constant entertainment. plus i can just talk to them when i get bored of you,” you say jokingly with a laugh.
“oh yeah? you bored of me now?” he jokes back
“hmmm,” you pretend to think, tapping your chin, “a little bit, but i’ll deal with it.”
“you’ll deal with it?” he asked, his eyebrows raised in amusement, along with a playful smile on his face. “how so?” he says as he walks towards you, and you’re still sitting on the bed.
“i guess i’ll just bring the energy out of you. i’m just special like that,” you say with a smile, recalling him calling you “special”
“i guess you are.”
the moment was becoming too “more than friends"-ish for you to handle, especially with him looking at you like that, so you decided to go back to familiar ground and bring back the light jokes.
“how do you still manage to repeat me when i’m repeating you?” you laugh and shake your head.
he shakes his head back and joins in on the laughter, finally sitting next to you after standing right infront of you.
the rest of the night went as it usually would with you two. but when you were in your own room, staring at the wall unable to sleep, you were cursing yourself for going another day not talking about your feelings, more specifically how you felt for nash. little did you know he was doing the same exact thing.
around your senior year, he decided that being just friends with you was genuinely going to be the cause of his death.
mentally, and also physically.
his brothers non stop teasing about you which always sometimes ended up in fights was starting to get on his nerves.
prom was coming up, and he knew from the books you read, the movies you watched, and just you in general that you felt like it was a big deal.
you ‘dragged’ him along to dress shopping, even though inside he was jumping up and down because he loved anything to do with you.
“okay listen, you know my size, and the colours i like are…?”
“light pink, baby blue, pastel yellow, orange, and light green as a last resort—those words are practically engraved in my brain darlin’”
“okay, great.” you say, beaming at him. you’re not sure if it’s because of the fact that he remembers everything you tell him, or the name he called you. “i’m going to go try on these, and you send me photos of any you find you think i might like, okay?”
“yes ma’am, on it.”
he was looking around the store, 3 dresses in hand, knowing the employees were talking about him.
“do you see those eyes?”
“wait- hawthorne? as in tobias hawthorne?”
“that’s the oldest one, nash”
“i don’t know who i want to be more; y/n or him”
“she’s so pretty, they fit each other.”
he heard in hushed whispers, and hearing the last two made him smile, just as he saw a dress that was so you.
everything about it screamed you in every way, and he loved it.
he spoke to one of the assistants and got one in your size, he couldn’t wait to show you this one; he was afraid a photo wouldn’t do it justice.
“hey darl, i saw this dress that i think you’d love. when you’re done you can come out and see it,” he said after knocking on the door of your changing room.
“oh i’m basically done, just putting on my shirt!” you say slightly muffled, and a few seconds later you open the door, “hi” you breathe out.
“hey there,” he grins at you.
you smile back at him, and then ask “do you have the dress?”
“right here,”
he turns and walks a few steps, taking the dress of the hanger and showing it to you, he begins to speak but you tune it all out because the dress is literally everything you wanted and more, “oh my god,” you say with your mouth agape.
this earns a low chuckle out of him. “you alright there?”
“i just, i love the dress so much, i can’t believe i didn’t find it myself, how the hell did you even notice it?” you finally tear your eyes away from the dress and meet his, adding a laugh to the end of your sentence.
“i just know my girl like that,” he says, genuinely smiling at you, and you were 99.9% sure your knees were going to buckle right there and you would fall at his feet. luckily, some of your strength remained, and you met his eyes for 2 seconds, only deepening the red colour in your face.
“i’m uh, i’m gonna go try on the dress.” you say, pointing back to the changing room with your thumb.
“alright, take your time.” when did his accent get so hot?
you close the door, lock it, and lean on it for a few seconds, recalling what the hell just happened, “my girl”????
“what the fuck” you mutter under your breath, but you can’t help the smile that finds your face when you think of the moment, in fact, you’re basically always smiling whenever you think or talk about nash. your mom never fails to mention it.
you try on the dress, and you think it’s practically made for you. you felt perfect. how was nash so right with his choices? to say you were obsessed with the dress was an understatement.
after snapping a few pictures for your friends and mom, you call out to nash. “i’m coming out now.” before opening the door and stepping out.
“what do you think?” you say as you do a 360.
‘speechless’ wasn’t a word used to describe nash hawthorne, ever. but right now, he fit the dictionary definition.
he was thinking ‘i can’t wait until one day, it’s our wedding she’s shopping for’
he quickly cleared his throat and replied once he realized he left you hanging. “you look gorgeous, you are gorgeous. buy that dress, i’m begging you.”
his words make you nervously laugh, “yeah, i love it so much. i think i will. thankyou for finding it.”
“no need to thank me darlin’, it’s all you.” which earned another nervous laugh out of you. he has to know what he’s doing. “i’m gonna go change now, and then we can leave.”
after you finish changing, you go to pay for the dress. when you reach the desk, the lady informs you that the dress has already been paid for.
you go back to nash who was waiting for you in the sitting area, his eyes lighting up when he meets yours.
“nash? did you pay for my dress?”
he just smiles in return, telling you everything you need to know.
“how did you even pay for it? you didn’t even have the dress with you.”
he stands up and walks next to you, taking the packaged dress from your hands and saying “don’t worry 'bout it’. lets go now?” before leading you two out the door.
a few days later, you realized you didn’t officially have a prom date. what you didn’t know was that nash was planning a whole thing to ask you out, with flowers, a picnic, jewelry, and little things he knows you love. it was the day he was going to ask you, and the second you walked into the house you said this:
“hey nash, um, this is kind of random but would you be my date to prom? i don’t have one yet and i-“ you immediately stop when you notice his face slightly fall.
“it would be friendly, o-ofcourse and it doesn’t mean anything.” you attempt to salvage yourself by rambling on and on.
“nash?”
he starts to smile and then decides to speak. “it’s real funny you ask me that, ya know?”
“why’s that?” you say with a smile matching his.
“c’mere” he says before taking your hand and leading you somewhere again.
what is it with this man and taking your hand??
when you reach the picnic he set out for you, which looks straight out of a romance movie or a valentine’s day advert, he starts to speak again. “i was going to ask you here, but now i don’t have to do that and we can just eat, right?” he jokes, to which you laugh and respond, “so that means you’ll go with me?”
“ofcourse i’ll go with you. hell, i’d do anything you want. i’d go anywhere, if it was you askin’. i love you, not in the way that you already know i do. not in a friendly way. i love you in a way that takes over my mind and makes you all i can think about 24/7.” his tone is suddenly much more serious, not a hint of the joking that was once present. he scans your face, noticing your blush and the smile starting to appear on your face. he continues. “what im tryin’ to say is, since the second i saw you in those horse riding lessons, i knew you were going to be someone special in my life. the second i saw how good you were with my brothers, with animals, with people in general, i knew i loved you. and the second i realized your cheeks would turn a shade of red, like they are now, after id call you a name, i knew i was in love with you.”
now it was your turn to be speechless, the only thing you could muster up was whispering his name before pulling him into a kiss.
he craned his neck down to meet your height, then you jumped and wrapped your legs around his torso. when you pulled back, you all but squealed and started peppering his face with kisses, repeating “i love you” with each one.
he started laughing, and “moving his face away from you” but not really, he loved it.
“alright alright, hold your horses.” he laughed before placing you on your feet again.
you tried to hold back your laugh when you realized there were kiss marks from your remaining lipgloss all over his face.
“what are you laughing at huh?” he says through a smile as he looks at you and starts laughing, simply because you are.
“nothing! just happy.” you reply.
“and why’s that?” he asks again, still smiling at you.
“well, this really cute guy with a funny accent just told me he’s loved me for like ages, and i’ve basically had a crush on him since we first met. isn’t that great!” you beam up at him, and he starts laughing again.
“i don’t know about that, the guy sounds like bad news. you should stay away.” he jokes back.
“but he’s so cute, you should see him.” you continue, not being able to hold back your laughs.
“yeah?”
“yeah, he’s the best.”
his grin widens before pulling you into another kiss. this time when it ends, you sat down to eat the food he prepared. you two watched the sunset together, and when it was night, you ended up falling asleep on each other while watching the stars.
you were woken up by his brothers standing over you two, laughing at the kiss marks still on nash's face, and the position you two were in. nash excused himself and had a ‘talk’ with them inside, and came back to you out of breath and sweaty, looking slightly pissed off. (it was hot though)

Adam’s third wife
A/N hi guys! First hazbin hotel fic, I did a vote and many of you chose Adam x reader so here we go! Let me know what you think and I’ll be able to do a part 2!!
There was a knock on the hotel door and Charlie excitedly rushed to answer it- there had been more and more sinners coming to the hotel wanting to try redemption ever since the last extermination, and she was excited to meet the next one! The last thing she was expecting however was this, Adam (first man, original dick, remember him?) standing at the door looking like he hadn’t slept or eaten in a week. He probably hadn’t. He looks panicked, he looks scared.
“Charlie sweetie is everything okay? Do you need any-“ Lucifer walks over to the door where they’re standing and sees why Charlie isn’t excitedly touring the hotel, and his eyes begin to turn red, clearly angry.
“Please.” Adam says, out of breath and looking like a guinea pig standing in the middle of a busy road. “You have to help me find her.” He begs. Lucifers eyes widen and go back to their usual colour, and Charlie looks down at her dad in confusion.
“What makes you think I know where she is? And if I did, why in hell, would she want to see you?” Lucifer responds, the picture of composure now he knows why Adam is here.
“Please. I know she hates me. But she’s all I have left.” Charlie is still looking down at Lucifer confused, silently asking what is going on.
Lucifer rolls his eyes. “So once again she’s a last resort, I see. You didn’t deserve her then and you certainly don’t deserve her now.” Lucifer begins to shut the door before Adam presses his foot in the way.
“I know. I’ve regretted it all since she left but how can I fix it if I can’t even find her?” Lucifer still looks like his mind is made up but Charlie looks at Adam, at his sad and helpless face and can’t help but pity him.
“Dad help him, that’s what the hotel’s for, right? What if he can change?” Lucifer looks up at his daughter and sees how much hope is in her eyes, “If he’s come back as a sinner he’s one of our people now right?” She points out.
He looks over at Adam again who is looking just as pitiful as before. “Fine, you can come inside and I’ll help you.” Lucifer begins to open the door, “but if you try to hurt anyone in here, you’re out okay? This is your only chance.” Adam nods violently, swearing he won’t hurt anyone and walks in behind Lucifer and Charlie.
Lucifer tells him to stay in the lobby while he deals with ‘something’, leaving him in the hands of Charlie and every other person he saw at the extermination. Shit. “So who are you trying to find?” Charlie asks, grinning up at him as Vaggie walks over, wrapping her arm around Charlie’s waist protectively. At Charlie’s question she looks up at Adam, seeing his nervous face and smirks.
“Really? You think she’ll want to see you?” Charlie looks at her and her mouth drops, clearly hating the fact that 2 people know something she doesn’t.
“No. But I have to try right?” Adam mutters out, embarrassed.
“Vaggiee tell meee.” Charlie begs and Vaggie throws her a playful eye roll and smile.
“Adam’s on the hunt for his ex.” She says smugly, making Adams cheeks heat up. Charlie looks even more confused.
“Eve?” She asks, to which Vaggie shakes her head. “Well surely it’s not my mother, no one seems to know where she is, so my dad couldn’t help.” She thinks out loud. “He has another ex?”
Vaggie nods affectionately and god does Adam want to leave, he’s been alone too long to watch this. “They didn’t meet til he died, she’s heaven born, but she fell.”
Now he wants to leave even more, he can feel Vaggie glaring daggers into the side of his head, he can’t look at them, ashamed. “What happened?” Charlie asks softly, and Vaggie sighs sadly.
“That’s her story to tell, and his I suppose but he’d never admit what really happened. You should ask her when your dad speaks to her.”
Things feel awkward after that, everyone in the lobby had clearly heard the conversation and he felt ashamed. Mostly about what he had done all those years ago. He thought about it often, he thought about trying to find her in the exterminations but couldn’t bring himself to it. He didn’t want to see the pain on her face again. He couldn’t bear it.
Lucifer came back and walked over to them, and Adam looked at him with the smallest glimmer of hope. “I can take you to her. She might not want to see you, in fact I would say it’s more than likely she doesn’t but I can take you there.”
“Thank you.” Adam breaths, he can’t believe he’s thanking Lucifer, the devil. But if it means he can see her again, he would do almost anything.
Lucifer takes them to his castle, and Adam feels a pang in his chest at the idea that she’d stay with him, but he wasn’t surprised. They had been friends before he fell, so it was only natural that she went to him for help. Charlie seems confused about being her, which Adam thinks is extremely interesting but can’t bring himself to dwell on it when she was right on the other side of those doors.
They all walked into the empty looking place and Lucifer snapped his fingers turning the lights on, to a dull light, muttering at how ‘she’ doesn’t like it bright. Adam remembers that about her.
Lucifer calls out her name loudly, announcing he’s back. “Lucifer! Hi! I’ll be down in just a moment, what’s the surprise you texted about??” A voice yells back. Adam, Charlie and Vaggie all shoot Lucifer a look, why had he said he had a surprise?
“It’s down here, come and see!” He yelled back before muttering, “don’t get too excited…”
“What was that last bit?” She yelled again before she appeared at the top of the stairs. And then she froze, staring at Adam. “Well that’s a crap surprise.” She deadpans, making Vaggie and Lucifer have to stifle their laughter back. “I was expecting a new duck.” She raises an eyebrow towards Lucifer as she walks down the stairs.
“I didn’t say it was a good surprise.” Lucifer tries to save himself as y/n gives him a look telling him to shut up.
“You must be Charlie.” Y/n smiles walking up to her and shaking her hand. “Your dad talks about you a lot.” She whispers and winks at Charlie.
Y/n immediately draws away and pulls Vaggie into a tight hug. “It’s been too long,” she says as she pulls away, “though I have to say I was sad when I found out you’d been banished here too.”
Vaggie smiles softly, “It’s okay, I found something better then anything up there.” She indicates towards Charlie with a soft smile, making Charlie visibly melt. Y/n smiles in complete understanding and steps back as Charlie pulls Vaggie into a hug and clutches onto her.
Then she approaches Adam and her smile drops suddenly. “Hello Adam.” He looks shocked for a moment before remembering he’s being spoken to and stumbles over his words, bringing a hand to scratch the back of his neck.
“I- er, um, hi y/n.” He finally settles with, looking sheepish. “Ho- how are you?” He asks quietly. She raises an eyebrow at him.
“I’m fine. Clearly better than you.” She looks up and down is figure, and brings a hand up to his hair to take out a stray twig caught in the mess. Adam watches her every movement with complete awe, looking surprised she’s touching him. “Why are you here?”
“I don’t…” He starts, then seems to rethink. “I needed to see you.” She scoffs and looks away rolling her eyes.
“7 years later? You do remember why I’m here right?” He nods and averts his eyes again, looking at the floor.
“I’m sorry.” He says which leaves her stunned. Her eyes widen and she looks over at Lucifer as if to check she hadn’t imagined it to happen. “I didn’t mean for it to happen the way it did. I didn’t know Sera would-“ he sighs. “I made a mistake.”
“That’s an understatement.” To that Adam nods, not saying anything. “So what? You wanted to say hi? You’ve done that now.”
“I wanted to know you’re okay. I know you hate me and I deserve it but I’ve wanted to find you everytime I’ve been here since it happened, but I just couldn’t bring myself to. But, you’re okay?” She nods. “Good, I’ll um… I’ll go.”
He turns away, starting to walk away when she sighs, “Wait.” She says and he stops turning back towards her, looking confused. “You won’t survive out there, you look like you’ve been sleeping in the streets since you arrived. If it’s fine with Lucifer you can stay here tonight and I’ll find you someone to stay. Somewhere else. Away from me.”
“You’re sure?” He says, eyes wide with hope. She looks over at Lucifer who nods at her and she looks back at Adam and nods. “Thank you.” He smiles nervously.

Part 1- https://www.tumblr.com/apute11as/733631966220582912/everything-happens-for-a-reason-alexia-putellas
~~~~~~
As you strolled through security, your mind flickered back to the conversation you’d had with the mother in the plane. Unease overtook your body as you couldn’t help but wonder if she were right, but she couldn’t be, surely? Yes you and Alexia had been trying but you’d taken a test after the last round of IVF and that test read a strong negative.
Casting the thoughts out of your mind, you decided to shift your focus to the important upcoming tournament. Getting though baggage control was yet again, a thankfully unproblematic task and you’d found your driver with minimal effort. These were further signs that you’d simply been overthinking the spontaneous sickness from this morning which was mostly likely due to fatigue or anxiety.
Having had help from your driver with hauling your luggage into the back of the black car, you finally sat down in the back of vehicle and allowed yourself a breath of relief as the most difficult part of your journey had been achieved. This moment of peace finally allowed you to check your phone, where of course you were met with a text from Alexia that read:
“I hope you had a safe flight bebita, I left you a suprise in the top pocket of your bag, te quiero mucho amor ❤️xx”
Smiling down at your phone, you clicked her icon to reply with a simple
“just got in the cab, can’t wait to see it te quiero más bebé xx”
The journey from the airport to St George’s Park was relatively short and you’d surprisingly managed to occupy yourself well enough that not once did your mind shift to your impending potential pregnancy. Upon arrival, you thanked your driver, giving him a generous tip for his good service and further help in hauling your heavy bags from out of the car. Thinking, you had another moment of peace, you reached down to look at a message which was a short lived attempt as you felt yourself being almost plowed down by a body being thrown at you.
“HOLA CHICA” bellowed none other than Mary Earps, the English goalkeeper wrapping you into a tight hug.
“Hiya Mary” you sighed after getting over the initial shock of her entrance, recovering from the near dropping of your phone onto the concrete floor below.
“How’ve you been, we’ve missed you at home, how’s Spain treating you?” she exclaimed, bombarding you with questions.
“Let the girl breathe Mary” rung the voice of Millie bright, the defender taking a much more gentle approach to you welcome.
“hey Mill, I’ve missed you all so much it feels like ages since I’ve seen you all” you replied.
“Clearly you’ve found some superior company though” stated Leah Williamson who now entered the scene, greeting you with a hug.
“What are you talking about?” you questioned, confused.
“well if the marks on your neck are anything to go by then I’m sure you’ve been just fine with Putellas” Leah jeered teasingly.
“oh shit I totally forgot, it’s been such a hectic morning I didn’t even realise” you stuttered although thinking back, your wife would surely have noticed your failure to cover up the less than subtle marks that littered your neck. Although, knowing Alexia she would have watched you walk out with pride, knowing that everyone would know you were hers just by taking one look at you. Typical la Reina.
“don’t get all stressed now, some of us a just single and miserable” the Chelsea defender gestured to Leah.
“haha very funny bright” retorted the younger blonde, and with that the pair of defenders wandered off inside.
“you said this morning has been hectic but I thought travel was smooth?” questioned Mary with a furrowed brow.
“Yeah yeah travel was perfect, it’s just other things.” you said with your expression visibly faltered.
“If your ever need to talk babes I’m here, it’s nothing to do with Putellas is it? Because i swear if that woman hurt you…”
“No no” you insisted, cutting her off. “Alexia has been perfect, just got a lot on my mind right now.” You assured the older woman.
“Alright hun, just don’t hesitate to reach out” she said with a smile.
“Thanks Mary I appreciate that so much” you replied.
After a further wave of reintroductions and also a couple of greetings towards the new players, you found yourself in a room with Sarina, the team and the assistant coaches.
“Right as usual of course, your rooms are to be assigned” stated the coach
“Leah and Keira”
“Georgia and Ella”
the list went on in a typical fashion.
and “Y/N and Alessia”
You let a small smile slip at the revelation, knowing that the blonde forward was easy to talk to and respected your quiet time, something you felt as though you needed more than ever, given your current stresses.
You were presented with a key card each and then made your way upstairs, having to haul your several bags into the elevator, a task that left you unusually out of breath. A fact that didn’t go unnoticed by Alessia as you hunched over, clutching your stomach.
“Are you ok Y/N?” the younger girl questioned.
“yeah thanks, I’m ok. I think it’s just a little discomfort from travel.” you replied with a weak expression.
Finally, the two of you reached the comfort of your shared room and unlocked the door swiftly. You offered Alessia the window bed as you knew that she much preferred it and felt slightly claustrophobic otherwise.
You both began unpacking your vast array of bags and unloading stuff into the wardrobes, when your mind shifted back to the text your wife had sent you earlier. You reached for your carry on bag and unzipped the pocket, to be met with the sight of your favourite Spanish chocolates with a small note that read:
“Para mi princesa. Un regalo casi tan dulce como tú. Te amo mucho mi corazon.”
You smiled softly, your wife had always expressed her love so beautifully through words, the terms of endearment making you tear up slightly.
“What’s that?” Alessia asked with curiosity.
“Just something Alexia got me to remind me of her.” you replied, wiping your eyes simultaneously. “They’re spanish chocolates” you continue “she knows they’re my favourite from our local chocolatería.”
“that’s so sweet” the younger girl replied with a smile.
“Yes it really is” you said, beginning to open the sweet treats but before you got a chance to offer some to Alessia, the smell hit your nostrils. Normally that would elicit a mouth watering response but this time you felt your stomach lurch in discomfort, similarly to the way it did this morning. You the found yourself bounding to the bathroom to throw up the small sandwich you’d eaten on your flight.
“Oh my god Y/N” exclaimed Alessia, worry evident in her tone. “I knew you looked pale earlier, you are sick!” she said holding your hair back and grimacing as another round of nausea had you further emptying the contents of your stomach into the toilet bowel.
“Sorry Alessia you don’t have to stay for this.” you managed in between the dry heaving that had replaced your sickness.
“No god I don’t mind, should I go get a staff member though?” She questioned.
“No, no definitely not I think I know what it is it’s fine.” You assured her.
Though Alessia wasn’t convinced and made a mental note to ask you again after team bonding, which you insisted you were well enough to attend.
“I thought you said those were your favourite chocolates, why did they make you feel sick?” The blonde questioned curiously.
“I’m not sure maybe they’d gone off” you offered weakly.
The two of you finally made it downstairs to the team, albeit 10 minutes late as you changed and freshened up after your spell of sickness.
“Look what the cat dragged in” shouted Beth as she attempted to rugby tackle you to the floor but before she was successful, she was stopped forcefully by Alessia.
“Careful Beth she’s not feeling great” explained Alessia.
“It’s alright Less, I’m alright now” you assured the girl.
“Anyways now that you two have finally arrived, we can start the fifa play offs!” cheered Georgia
As the night progressed, your stomach settled but your anxiety levels only heightened as the reality of your situation truly began to settle in. You were shocked out of your thoughts by a soft hand on your shoulder, that belonged to your captain- Leah.
“Woah there jumpy” she said as you flinched at her touch. “I was just checking if you wanted a hot chocolate but is everything all right?” she questioned.
That did it, the tears that had been threatening to flow came free now. You ran off hurriedly to the bathroom, Leah watching in awe as to what had actually just happened.
“It’s alright I’ve got her.” Alessia assured a couple of the team members who had gathered at the commotion.
You were now balling your eyes out in the bathroom, as the thoughts of what the pregnancy would mean dawned upon you. Ordinarily when you’d planned the pregnancy, you wouldn’t be attending the World Cup, opting to sacrifice it for your wife who’d just come back from an injury and was 4 years older than you anyways. However, now here you were, ready to go to the tournament and were potentially pregnant. You heard the door swing open and were soon met with the concerned face of your roommate, knowing you now definitely had to share your concerns with her.
“What’s up Y/N, no “I’m fine” or any nonsense, you’re struggling with something let me help you.” said the blonde, sympathetically.
“I-I think I’m pregnant” you said for the first time out loud since you began questioning.
“That’s good surely? Wait you’d have to do ivf for that, unless it’s not Alexia’s baby oh my god, oh my god is it somebody else’s, that’d explain the tears…”
“No Alessia” you urged, cutting off her rambling. “It would be Alexia’s it’s just not quite gone to plan” you continued as Alessia stared at you with a confused face.
You the preceded to explain your conversation with the woman on the plane, the negative pregnancy test from earlier this month and yours and Alexia’s plans to start a family. Alessia listening intently and comforting you as you spoke.
“Maybe the best idea would be to get a test” Alessia stated “because for all you know you’re getting stressed over nothing.” She reasoned.
“Yeah yeah that’s true, I just didn’t have much time to get one between the airport.
“We can get one tomorrow at lunch, it’s late now anyways maybe you should call alexia and tell her what’s going on?”
“No no no I can’t call Alexia she can’t know” you urged.
“why not she might be able to help you see clearly” said Alessia
“No she’ll be on a flight over here to make sure I don’t play, I really want to play Alessia” you pleaded
“Ok then let’s tell the girls you don’t feel well so we’re going to bed early how’s that?” Asked the blonde
“Yeah that sounds good thank you Less it means so much that you care.” you thanked her
“Of course Y/N anytime” she smiled.
I'll Crawl Home to Her- Chapter 1
A/ N:I’m horrible at exposition so bare with me through this one. It feels a little clunky to me but this sets up a lot for the rest of the series. This is also the longest thing I’ve written outside of my senior thesis so… I have this series fully planned out and now that I’m back from vacation I should be able to work on it a lot more.
Anyways, let me know if you want to be added to the taglist for it!
Warnings: Spring court slander (implied trauma), nightmares. Drinking. I think that’s all but feel free to let me know if I should add anything!
Tumblr media
We’re coming home.
I ran up to my brother. Desperately pulling on Rhys’ arm and I felt him stumble back into me. He remained frozen, eyes locked on the female in front of him. Her and Rhys were clearly in the middle of a very intense conversation. But I wanted to go home. When I shouted Rhys’ name, his head flickered to me before looking back at Feyre. I saw his body tense, eyes going wide and it was instinct that had me grabbing his arm and winnowing us to Velaris.
The smell instantly calms me in a way I haven't felt in fifty years. Once my vision had fully focused,
“She’s my mate”, nothing above a whisper. My head snapped over to him. Mate. That explained his reaction. I felt the guilt in my stomach at pulling him away from Feyre. My arms are already reaching to pull Rhys towards me into a hug. As my arms wrapped around him, he sobbed into my shoulder.
This wasn’t the Rhys I had come to know under the mountain. Sob after sob left his mouth and his precious wings dropped to the ground. I knew this was more than the reaction of a male who had his mate taken from him. This was my brother who had to watch his mate be in love with someone else after years of suffering. The cauldron had finally granted him a mate only to have her ripped away from him.
“I’m sorry” was all I could think to say. So many reasons for being sorry. Sorry for all he went through. Sorry for not being strong enough to stop it. Sorry that the female the mother had chosen for him was in love with the High Lord of Spring, and had willingly died for him. Sorry that I stole away what little time he had spent with her.
Rhys let out another sob against my shoulder and it shook me to my core. I have heard him cry over Amarantha many times but seeing him break over Feyre was enough for me to want to march to spring and drag her to Velaris. But she wouldn’t want that. I know Rhys would have my head on a spike if I even offered.
We both turned around at the sound of the door opening. Mor stood in silence, eyes scanning over us. Noticing our embrace. She stepped up to us and a soft smile crossed her face.
“Tell me about your mate, Rhys.”
That was all it took for the flood gates to open. We did more than recall the details about the last few months. Rhys and I cherry picking only the most vital and important details. We kept a few things close to our chests. Those would stay our nightmares alone, Mor didn’t need to be haunted with our ghosts as well.
Mor sat patiently before she finally interrupted. “She’s really dead?” Rhy freezed at the mention of Amarantha. I lightly placed a hand on his shoulder and answered for him. “Yes. But I don’t think this is over.” Mor just nodded sharply, looking at I both before she launched herself at both of I, arms coming up to wrap around my brother and myself.
“If either of you ever do something that stupid again, I’ll kill you myself.” Her voice didn’t hold any malice, instead it shook with tears. My heart jumped as I left the weight of her emotions wash over me. The pain in my chest tightened as I realized how much our absence has truly shaken our family. I knew, of course, but seeing it was entirely different.
The three of us began to settle and I finally had time to get my bearings in the house. As I let the glow of the house wrap around I. A familiar scent caught my attention, and my whole body sang. My head whipped around, looking for the source of that pine and night air, looking for Azriel.  Cas too of course but Azriel was on the front of my mind.
Mor’s smile tilted slightly. “They should be back soon.” She sighed “They just went to the camps to check on all of them” She paused, stumbling over words  “ when we got that message from you, someone thought the most important thing was letting the camp leaders know that they had a high lord to answer to again.” This didn’t surprise me at all. Of course they would want, need, to fill in the Illyrian warriors that were now back under Rhys command with his return, Cassian having to take over that helm by nature of his position. It would be a fight, but one for a different day.
         I wanted nothing more than to see the rest of my family and responsibilities be damned. I wanted to see them now. It had already been almost 50 years and in theory another day wouldn’t hurt but the house felt empty without the loudness of Cassian’s voice booming. It felt cold without Azriel’s shadows stirring around.
As if Mor could sense my unease, she lightly grabbed my wrist and started pulling me deeper into the house. “I have so many books I need to show you.” That was all it took for me to laugh. Mind reeling as I tried to remember the last time I had truly laughed.
The library was just as I had remembered it. The smell of old parchment and leather filled the space. Fires kept the room warm and light and I wanted that feeling to sink down into my bones.
Mor gave me the space to just absorb my favorite room in the house. Rhys had given me full reign over how it was decorated. Comfy chairs that could accommodate wings and backless chairs tufted with fabric that looked like they were made of stardust were spread over the large room. The heavy wooden desk I had put in was covered in stacks of books.
“I put all the ones I knew you would like over there.” Mor spoke up when she saw my eyes lock on the countless books. I felt my throat tighten up with tears at the thought she must have put behind the seemingly small action. It wasn’t uncommon for Mor and I to swap books as we finished them. Mostly so we could sit and talk about them for hours together. Mor and I spent many nights on the couches I had put in, falling asleep with our respective books still clutched in our hands.
Looking at the stacks, a rough count told me there had to be over a hundred books, easily.
“Looks like I have some serious reading to do.” I laughed. She beamed a smile at me.
“Those are just the ones I knew you would like,” She walked over to one of the bookcases in front of the desk. “These are all the others that I need you to read so I can scream about them.”
Three whole shelves in total. It would take me gods know how long to get through them. I voiced that much. Mor waved me off.
“You have all the time in the world to read them. It doesn’t have to happen all at once, but I’m not letting anything happen to you again. You’ll have time to read them all.” Her voice was uncharacteristically soft. I turned to look at her and I saw the pink speckling her cheeks and right above her lips, the tell-tale signs that she was trying not to cry. I placed the book I had just picked up and threw my arms around her, squeezing her as tight as I possibly could. She nuzzled her head against my shoulder and all I could do was try to hold her tighter.
By the time we pulled away from the hug, we were both a crying, giggling mess. I forgot how much I loved spending time with Mor. Regardless of how much I cared for my brothers, Mor and I were two sides of the same coin. Plus the boys wouldn’t sit and discuss the pure filth that tended to grace the pages of the books I devoured.
“So, what one should I start with?”
She all but squealed as she started flipping through the piles with me. We organized as we went. Placing them in piles of order that I should read them in. A few of the series I had been following had new installments that would most likely require a reread so those got placed on the back burner for the, now older, favorites she was dying to talk about. From there we were able to pick out one of her more recent favorites that had me itching to crack open immediately. She picked out one from her own pile across the room and the both of us settled into silence, the only sound was the fireplace cracking and pages turning.
I don’t know how late it was when Rhys softly opened the door to sneak into the room. My eyes were starting to get dry from how little I was blinking, desperate to get through one more chapter before I called it a night. Something I had voiced to Mor about ten chapters ago. Mor who now was asleep on her own couch, her hair pooling over the edge almost touching the floor from the uncomfortable angel her head had fallen into.
“The books will still be here after you’ve gotten some sleep,” Rhys said in a gentle mocking tone. Mor stirred slightly at his voice but remained sleeping. “Come on, I’d be an awful High Lord, and an even worse brother, if I let you fall asleep in the library on your first night home.” I nodded at his words. Truthfully, I couldn’t care less where I slept but for some reason, I could tell it mattered to Rhys. It would honestly be more normal for me to fall asleep anywhere but my room. Whether it be in the library or the large sectional in the living room or the comfy chairs on the rooftop, I rarely ever slept in my own bed. Rhys had ensured that every surface of the house was as comfortable as possible to account for this but I didn’t push or argue with him as I untucked my legs from underneath me and stood up. I debated leaving Mor to sleep but didn’t want her to wake up all alone. Reaching out a hand, I placed it on her shoulder and gave her a small shake. She groaned but opened her eyes anyway.
“We’re being banished to our rooms.” I joked and pointed over the Rhys. She let out an even louder groan.
“Overprotective bat.” Even Rhys laughed at her words.
“Come on, before he carries us himself.” I held out a hand and I could see Mor contemplating just rolling back over and going back to sleep but she grabbed my hand. Pulling slightly, I helped her to her feet and she rolled her neck slowly. No doubt trying to work out whatever kink was starting to develop due to half of her head hanging off the thin couch. The three of us walked down the hallway to our rooms. Sleepily stumbling to doors. We reached Mor’s first and before she slipped in, she gave me another tiny hug and another to Rhys.
“I love you guys,” Sleep was evident in the way she almost drunkenly stumbled over her words. I returned the sentiment and she was slipping into her bedroom, the door clicking shut behind her.
Rhys and I stood outside her bedroom for a little longer, until we saw the light from under the door flicker out. Eventually, we continued walking until we got to my door. There was a slight pause as I turned the handle. Rhys and I would normally be curled up in my bed under the mountain by now. I vaguely thought about asking him to stay the night. Not that I think either of us were truly going to be able to sleep. As tired as I felt, I was afraid that if I closed my eyes for too long I was going to wake up and this was all going  to be a cruel dream.
Rhys seemed to pick up on my hesitancy. “I can walk in with you. If you’re…”:
“Please.” I interrupted him. He gave me a soft smile and gestured for me to open the door.
Nothing was out of place. The room smelt like my favorite perfume and when I looked around, there was no dust to be found. Someone had spent the time still cleaning the room while I was gone. I don’t know why that touched me as much as it did but as I looked around I felt all the unshed tears finally starting to take its toll. A sob ripped its way from my chest and Rhys’ arms were around me in an instant.
He shushed me softly, rocking me slightly. “We made it. We’re free. We’re back home.” He repeated over and over until I had cried myself out. I pulled out of his embrace and wiped away the stray tears. Shaking my head at my outburst I muttered a thank you to my brother.
“Try to get some sleep. I’ll be just across the hall if you need anything,” He says, placing a hand on my shoulder. I nodded and he gave me a sad smile as he walked out of the room.
I wandered over to my dresser, fished around until I pulled out the first pair of pajamas I came across. I hastily pulled my clothes off and as I went to pull the nightgown over my head, I realized the layer of grim that was clinging to my skin. A bath was definitely needed before I climbed into my warm bed.
The tub was already full and scalding hot by the time I had finished pouring in an obscene amount of oils and bath salts. Sinking in, I sighed out in relief as the heat enveloped me. Muscles in my neck and back released as I leaned my head against the edge of the tub. I picked up the sponge on the edge and started to wash myself off. After countless minutes of scrubbing, despite my raw skin I still didn’t feel clean. Huffing, I threw the sponge across the bathroom and pulled my knees up to my chest. I just sat curled up around myself until the water started to cool down. And it was still another handful of minutes before I could manage to pull myself upright and step out of the bath. I shivered at the temperature difference. Hugging my towel closer to my body, I quickly ran bacon into my room and threw the nightgown over my head. I burrowed underneath my comforter and tried to close my eyes.
I tossed and turned until I started pleading with the mother, the cauldron, anyone that would listen to let me go to sleep. I was bone tired but everytime I closed my eyes something made me snap them open a few moments later. Every creek of the house had my ears prickling. Has the house always been this loud? I wondered how I never noticed it before. How I ever slept with all the noise. It was then I remembered that, if my room truly haven't been messed with since I had left, that I still had a sleeping tonic from when I had cracked a few ribs. Fae healing or not, ribs always were a pain to heal. Majda had given me a tonic to make me sleep so I could actually heal without Cassian making me laugh them out of place. I flung myself out of bed and padded over to my vanity. The small bottle of purple liquid still sat , half drank/ Uncorking it, I prayed that sleeping potions didn’t go bad and took a tentative sip. Fighting back a gag at the foul taste, I put the cork back on the top and walked back to my bed. The medicine had its desired effect. Not a minute later I felt my eyelids flutter close and  this time they stayed closed until I could sense the sun high in the air signaling the next day had come.
Knocking on my door made me finally crawl out of bed. Goraning at having to leave the warmth, I flung open the door and was staring a slightly startled Rhys in the face. He held a small tray in front of him, stacked high with various foods.
“I didn’t want to wake you up. You slept through breakfast and lunch and I  didn’t know what you would want so I brought a little of everything.” He spoke the words so fast that in my half awake state I struggled to keep up with them. I gestured for him to come in so he could place the tray on my bed.
“Have you eaten?” I raised an eyebrow at him as I picked up a large strawberry.. His look told me that he had, in fact, not eaten. I pointed to my bed. “Sit and eat.” I barked, mouth full of strawberries. He laughed at some silent joke and picked up a piece of toast covered in some fruit jam. We were quiet as we ate, picking apart the platter he had brought in. Truly too much for one person to eat. Once we were both full, I wiped off my hands on my comforter and finished swallowing my last bite before I asked Rhys. “What do you have on the agenda for today?” He stilled and picked at a piece of lint on his sweater.
“Not a lot. I’m trying to organize a meeting with the High Lords of the other courts to just debrief after everything.” He shrugged like that wasn’t going to be the hardest meeting to organize. “There are some young high lords and with all the aftermath of this…We just need to all talk this out.” I nodded along with him. The courts would need some time to bounce back after this but from the way things had seemed under the mountain, we didn’t have that time. As much as I prayed to be wrong about this, war was on the horizon and we would need to have the courts functioning as much as possible if we were going to stand a chance against Hyberns forces. Amarantha was just a taste of the power that he had, an experiment of sorts.
Mor knocked on the open door before she walked in and plopped down next to Rhys. She took note of our stern faces but didn’t say anything. Instead, she swiped one of the sandwiches off of the tray and shoved half of it in her mouth in one bite. “You, me, library.” Was all she said before she turned on her heel and walked out of the room.
“Well I know what you’re doing for the rest of the day.” Rhys laughed as I started to scramble to get dressed. I was about to start changing when I noticed he hadn't moved from his perch on my bed. “Get out!” I scratched at him and all but pushed him out of the door, slamming it shut behind him. His laugh echoed off the empty halls outside my door.
In record time, I was running down the halls to the library. Mor was already sitting, her book curled against her chest. She didn’t look up from  her book as she pointed to the one I had abandoned last night. “Butt in chair, book in hand.” She said and I laughed at her tone. I walked over to my couch and picked up the book,  the spine slightly cracked from laying face down most of the day.
I must have finally gotten to the juicy part of the book because I felt Mor Peering over the edge of her own book. My poker face was completely gone as I sunk in every word. “No. Absolutely not!” I screamed, rereading the last few pages to make sure I was seeing it correctly.
“Did you finally get to..” I held up my hand to shush her. She laughed and threw one of the throw pillows at my head. I only put my book down long enough to catch the pillow, using it to now prop up my arms. Once I had confirmed I had not actually gone crazy, Mor and I started discussing the plot twist that had been the source of my outburst. She accidentally let a detail slip that had me scrambling back for the book, desperate to catch up to the point she had been talking about. This went on for hours until I saw her perk up. She turned to face me.
.
“They’re back.” Was all Mor said, still flipping through the book perched on her knees. I didn’t say anything else before I put my own book to the side and all but ran from the room. Her laugh bouncing off the walls behind me.
I could smell him before I saw him. That deep cedar and cold rain smell that I could wrap myself in. Rhys tried to say something to him but stopped when he realized he no longer held his audience's full attention. Azriel’s shadows ripping across the room and curling around my feet like a small cat. I could have purred at the feeling, tears started to peek along the corners of my eyes at the familiar feeling.
When I felt movement next to me, I felt momentary disappointment at the fact that Azriel was not standing in front of me. Strong arms wrapped around my middle and started to swing me in a circle, I felt joy so strong it almost hurt. Cassian sat me back down on my feet and when he went to speak, I wrapped my arms around him in return. We stood embracing each other, slowly rocking from foot to foot.
“Missed you, Princess.” He muttered into my head. I just nodded, my cheek too squished against his chest to say anything. “I think Mor was going to kill us if she had to be the only girl living in the house. Amren can only handle so much damage control and the coward spent most nights at her apartment.” He nudged my shoulder as he spoke, pulling a laugh from me. It felt good to laugh again. My cheeks hurt in the perfect way at the smile that stretched over my face.
A throat being cleared from across the room pulled my attention from Cassian. I could have melted into a puddle right then and there. Azriel stood in front of me, a true smile gracing his face. I squealed and rushed over into his arms. He didn’t swing me around like Cassian did, but he held me just as tight. It would have felt so right to crash my lips against his and he released me from his arms, but that wasn’t my relationship with Azriel. Those thoughts were nothing more than what I needed to make it through the events of the last fifty years. Azriel looked at me like I was a sister, nothing more. Rhys’ little sister on top of that. His high lord's little sister. He was the one who had coined my nickname centuries ago. When the trio first formed their own little band of brothers. I had gotten pulled in by proximity, Azriel said it one day and it had stuck ever since. “Hi Princess.” He said, tone polite but I could hear the joy behind them. I tried not to blush as I heard his voice. Shaking the things I had imagined that voice saying to me out of my head out, I mustered up a pathetic, “Hi, Az.”
It had never felt this awkward around him. Cursing myself mentally for thinking of all the things I would say to him when I finally saw him again. None of those words made their way out of me as the two of us stared at each other. “I’m glad you’re home.” Was all he said his words short but I felt the sincerity leaking from them. Biting down the flutter in my heart,  I gave a short nod and wrapped my arms around myself. His eyes tracked the movement but didn’t say anything.
Cass clapped a hand on his brother's shoulder, breaking the tension that I felt take over the room. “We’ll see you at training tomorrow,” I raised an eyebrow to him. “Don’t give me that look, I’m guessing you didn’t have time to… while you were gone. I can’t have my sister not able to defend herself. We would be the laughing stock of Pyrthian.” He smiled as I made a big show of rolling my eyes .
So I joined them for training the next morning. And the next. Cassian slowly ran through the basics until I was nothing more than a mile of sore bones and sweat by the end of our sessions. I would shower and hang out with Mor. Rhys was suddenly very busy as he tried to catch up on all the events he missed in his court over the last fifty years. He made more and more trips to Hewn City, leaving Mor free to run around with me. Before I knew it a month had passed and all of us were sitting around the table for one of our family dinners.
Jokes were flung around the table and no one noticed  the way Rhys and I sat back, sinking it all in. More than once I caught his eyes from across the table and all we could do was smile at each other. Is it bad to say that I missed this? I spoke into his head as Mor and Cassian had started raising their voices at each other, getting into a slight argument over some random events of the day. I did too. Even when we both flinched at the volume Cassian’s voice had risen too. Even Azriel had started to chime in before Mor shot him down with a withering look. I laughed despite myself at his expression. I shut up when that look was turned to me.
The conversation fell into a natural lull and everyone was happily eating. Rhys hissed at something, shaking his arm that bore the bargain mark. Something must have prickled down the weird connection.
“I still can’t believe you let her go with Tamlin.” Cassian said, stabbing something on his plate with a little more force than necessary. Rhys bared his teeth at his brother.
“I didn't have much of a choice, now did I?” He slumped back into his chair, still rubbing his hand. “She already hated me because of this stupid bargain but if I had stolen away from the male she was willing to die for…”
“But Rhys. It’s Tamlin. No one would have slighted you, not after…” Cassian’s gaze flickered to me. As hard as I was trying to tune out the conversation, I still felt my chest tighten at their words. Rhys would have never taken Feyre without her permission, well at least outside of the bargain but we both knew that was simply a means to an end. Regardless of how much it must hurt to have another person he cared about over in spring, Rhys wouldn’t take that choice away from her, no matter how concerned he might be for  her safety.
“How  was it seeing the brute again?” Amren asked and the table silenced. I froze and kept my gaze locked down at my plate. Suddenly losing my appetite completely.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” I itched at my wrist, tugging at the fabric that felt too tight around my wrist. Azriel placed a comforting hand over mine. I flashed him a thankful smile.
“You haven’t wanted to talk about it for over a century.” She prodded.
“And she shouldn’t have to if she doesn’t want to,” She took a breath like she was about to press the issue. “Why does it matter to you anyways?” Azriel hissed at her. Amren had the decency to take a hint and held up her hands in surrender, a smirk plastered on her face.
We all sat in silence for the rest of dinner. Even Cassian knew better than to make any comments due to the tension in the air. Everytime he would go to say something, Rhys would shoot daggers at him. Eventually I got sick of it and threw my napkin down.
“Fine. You want to know what it felt like?” I shouted at Amren. Everyone flinched. “I am terrified for that girl. Because I know what loving Tamlin does to someone. Seeing him felt just like you whenever someone mentions the prison.” She paled at my words and I didn’t spare her another look as I pushed away from the table, storming out. I know I would regret my words later but sometimes Amren needed a taste of her own medicine. She just loved to push everyone buttons because we were all too scared to really piss her off.
I flung myself into my bed, still fully dressed. I groaned into my pillow. Apologies could wait until tomorrow. A knock from the door had me fighting back swears. Stomping over to the door, I ripped it open and a very startled Rhys was standing in the hallway, hand raised like he was about to knock again.
“I wanted to check on you.” The high lord said.
“I’m fine” I gritted out and he raised an eyebrow at me. I let out a heavy sigh.
“I know I shouldn’t have taken the bait but I don’t want to talk about him, right now or ever, if I can avoid it.” Rhys’ eyes held sympathy and he just contuined standing in the hallway, letting me rant. “I mean it’s been so long. I didn’t want to talk about it then. No one’s asking how you feel about Tamlin.” I paused and Rhys just shrugged.
“If she’s happy with him, then it’s not my place to try to save her. If she wants to come here, then I’ll happily let her do that too.”
I stared at him like he had gone crazy. “What about the bargain?” He shrugged again
“It was necessary at the time. I don’t actually plan on cashing in on it. She’d only hate me. More.” I could feel his despair. The self loathing held behind those words.
“Rhys.” He shook his head.
“I’ll never take away her choice in this. Just because she’s my mate doesn’t mean I have a claim to her. Regardless of every nerve in my body screaming otherwise. It’s her life. She’s given more than enough to deserve whatever, whoever, makes her happy.” I went to hug him and he stepped out of my reach. “As much as I appreciate it, I don’t need your sympathy for making the right decision.” He tried to play it off as a joke but I knew he truly meant it.
“Well if you ever want to talk about it…”
“Like how you want to talk about Tamlin.” He cut me off. My mouth set into a thin line and I took that as a dismissal of the conversation. Fine. I just wanted to crawl into bed anyway.
“Well now that we’ve established that. Anything else you want to say, oh mighty High Lord.”
“No.”
“Good. Good night.” I said and swiftly shut the door in his face. I love my brother but he really knows how to get under my skin sometimes. I know deep down I’m mad because he called me out. I can’t expect him to pour his heart out to me when I won’t do the same thing.
I threw the covered back and crawled in, still fully dressed. Mind reeling. I wouldn’t even know where to start with talking to anyone about Tamlin. And what good would it do? All of that was in the past and talking about it would only piss everyone off all over again. We had just barely avoided attacking the spring court when I came home. I don’t want to drag Feyre into this now that she’s there.
I managed to finally fall asleep, tossing and turning. Dreams filled with deep swirling greens and the sound of growls.
When I woke up in the morning I could tell it was later than normal. The sun is slightly higher in the air. Snapping out of my sleepy haze I cursed as I jumped out of bed. I was late for training and Cassian wasn’t going to let me forget that.
Throwing on my clothes, mentally screaming at all the buckles on my training leathers. I knew not eating was going to come back to bite me in the ass but I simply didn’t have time as I sprinted through the house. In my haste, I passed a grinning Rhys. The events from last night seemingly forgiven as he taunted me.
“Maybe he’ll consider this your warm up today.” I held up a crude gesture and he only laughed harder.
I made it to the training rink in record time. My hands were on my knees as I panted. The stitch in my side was already screaming at me but I forced myself to stand up straight as Cassian sauntered over to me. The split in his lip told me Him and Azriel had gotten started without me.
“You’re late, princess.” I flinched at his tone. He surveyed me. “I think double drills should be enough to make sure that doesn’t happen again. I cursed, I couldn’t get through the routine once without limping back to the house. Two would kill me and he knew it.
“What are you waiting for? An invitation?” He held out his hand “Consider this it.” He stepped away from me, going back over to Azriel. I know Cassian wasn’t actually mad at me. He also knew that if he went easy on me, I wouldn’t take training seriously. I appreciated the routine of it all and I really did need it. So sighing I got started.
I was halfway through my second set when Cas called me over.
“Lesson learned?” He simply asked. I nodded. Still trying to take in breath. My muscles are screaming at me for still being vertical.
“Good because Cas and I decided it’s finally time to step this up a notch. You’re almost the same as you were before. Now it’s time to get your powers involved. Relearn how to fight with those.” Azriel spoke. My stomach sank. This was something I hadn't considered. It was a stupid oversight on my part and I didn’t know how to get myself out of this so I responded with the truth.
“I don’t have my powers.”
“Okay, nice joke” Cassian cut in.
“I’m not joking. I can’t use them anymore.”
“What do you mean you can’t?”
“I can’t use my powers” I grumble. “They’re still in there but it’s like I’m fighting against a wall.” Azriel raised an eyebrow at that revelation.
“How do you know?”
“I don’t know but all I know is I tried to use them… you know… And they wouldn’t come. Everyone had theirs back so I know it wasn’t the curse. So for whatever reason I couldn’t make them work.” It was embarrassing to admit. My powers had been the only truly useful thing I could rely on in the training ring.
“Have you tried since then?” I nodded. Not so much of a glimmer of them since I came home. I told Cassian that much and he swore under his breath.
“We could always take you to see Helion.” I shook my head at his words.
“I don’t want to burden him with more problems. He has enough to do in his own court. I’ll figure it out, but for now I’ll just have to fight the old fashioned way.”
Neither of the males in front of me seemed to be happy with my response but Cassian jumped right back in.
“Fine. But that means that you have a lot more training to do. If you had your powers you would be fine. But in just plain hand to hand combat, you’d get your ass kicked by anyone with any skill.”
I glared at him but I knew he was telling the truth. Grabbing his arm, I pulled him into the center of the ring and tossed him one of the training swords. Heavy but they wouldn’t do nearly as much damage when he hit me.
“Do your worst then.” Was all I said before he charged at me.
“You’re sloppy.” Cassian barked as he knocked the sword out of hand again, again. I held my wrist as it twisted at a weird angel. My cheeks heated with anger and I went to wipe the sweat that had formed on my brow with my other, only to find it just as damp. I recoiled in disgust and Cassian laughed again.
“You try getting your shit kicked in for fifty years and see how you bounce back.” I spoke and I saw his face pale. Shit. “Joking Cas, it’s okay.”
I shook my head. “I am sloppy. And that’s why I’m still training with your annoying ass. You’ll have me back in tip top shape.” He relaxed slightly, but his shoulders still wouldn’t lower.
I sighed and did the only thing I could think of as he turned away from me. I jumped onto his back, being mindful of his wings and pulled him down to the ground. The air left his lungs in a whoosh as I took us both onto our sides, I quickly bounded to my feet, ignoring the sting in my side from the impact.
“Come on you big Illyrian baby.” I raised my arms slightly in front of me and a flicker of something crossed Cassian's face and I saw him make the decision to play along. To pretend that this was just a normal day of training. He leapt to his feet with a surprising amount of grace.
“If you want a fight, you got it princess” He said with a smirk. We both stood in the middle of the training ring, circling each other, waiting  for the other to make the first move. Swords forgotten off to the side. I saw the slight twitch of his left side and I made the choice to ignore the fake out, and went to block my right side. It was the right choice, the blow aimed toward my right side bounded off my forearm, it still stung but at least it didn’t put me on my ass like it would have had it made contact. I grabbed his wrist and twisted his arm back, pulling him closer towards me and pushing on his back. He only stumbled for a second before he regained his footing. That kick had put me off balance more than I anticipated and it was easy for Cassian to grab the leg that lowered too slowly, grabbing my ankle and yanking me to my stomach. I yelped at the contact. He laughed loudly as I held my hand up in surrender. I rolled over onto my back with a groan.
“Give me a few days back in training and I’ll have you on your ass, General.” He laughed even harder.
“In case you forgot, princess, you could barely do that even on your best days. Give yourself more time.”
“A week.” I responded with my own laugh. Whatever I had done, it worked. Cassian’s shoulders had fully relaxed and I noticed the smile gracing his face finally reached his eyes. I noticed Azriel starting a few feet away. I sat back on my elbows, propping myself up. “Want a round, Az?” I teased and was rewarded by him rolling those big hazel eyes.
“I think you’ve hurt yourself enough for today.” Was all he said before he turned to stalk away  from the ring. I laid back down in the dirt of the ring at his retreating figure, sighing heavily. Cas comes to stand over me, offering me a hand up. I grab it, pulling myself up.
“Give him some more time to come around. This was harder for him than the rest of us.” He was suddenly serious. “He’ll get there, but you know him. Broody as they come.” He nudged me with his wing and I couldn’t help but chuckle at the gesture. I nodded in understanding and the pair of us walked back up to the house.
This was harder for him than the rest of us. The words bounced around my head for the rest of the day. It makes sense. Azriel would have seen this as him failing. Not only failing me but his High Lord. Regardless of how hard everyone must have tried to comfort him, he would always blame himself, and only himself, for Rhys and I going under the mountain.
It also explained why Azriel seemed to be avoiding me. Besides that first awkward meeting, he always managed to find an excuse to not be in the same room as me if he could avoid it. I’ve been home for almost a month now and I had hardly seen him. The few times I ran into him in the hall, he would quickly and politely brush me. Not saying anymore than a few words in greeting or response to a question I might have asked him. Be patient. I could do that. But it was hard to ignore the sting in my chest every time he brushed me off. We were practically joined at the hip before I left. I fit seamlessly into the fold of the trio but now Azriel felt like a stranger again.
My mind was too full of thoughts to begin to try to settle down, so after I bathed the dirt and sweat off, I changed into a loose nightgown that almost went to the ground and padded off for the library. When I got to the door, it was slightly cracked, light from the fireplace filling even the hallway with its warmth. It was like the room itself was calling to me and as I stepped in. Above the crackle of the fire, I made out the sound of pages turning, of fabric rustling as someone shifted on one of the couches in the room. I searched for the source of the sound and found none other than Azriel lounging with a book propped open on his lap. He didn’t seem to notice me until one of his shadows snuck off his lap and slithered over to my feet, wrapping around them like they always did.
He closed his book and glanced over to where I stood in the doorway. Something flashed across his eyes that I couldn’t decipher before it faded away. He cleared his throat and said a generic greeting. My heart sank as I saw him mark the page he was on in his book, and place it on the end table to his right. I tried not to pout as I said. “Don’t leave on my account.” I said, keeping my tone light to hide the oily feeling pooling in my stomach. The shadow at my feet seemed to curl in tighter to me as Azriel went to stand.
“I was just finishing up anyways.” He couldn’t seem to meet my eyes. “The rooms all yours.”
“Azriel…” I don’t know what I was going to stay. Maybe beg him to stay with me, maybe start shouting at him but I know none of that would help, would only make both of us feel worse. Be patient with him. So I bit back all the words I wanted to say to him and simply said. “Good night.” He called to me as he headed out of the room, his shoulder just barely brushing mine as he passed by me. The room suddenly felt too cold so I willed the house to put the fire out and walked out, heading back to my own room suddenly feeling very tired.
I crawled under my covers and tried to push the thought of Azriel’s eyes out of my mind as I drifted off into a fitful sleep.
 I sensed it. I was back under the mountain. Nonono. This can’t be happening but I saw it all out in front of me. Rhys was in front of me, standing on the dais with Amarantha standing next to him. I almost broke down, knees buckling, when I saw that all-too-familiar mask of indifference grace my brother's face. I tried to call out but my voice wouldn’t come out, feet locked in place as I stood and helplessly watched as the red haired female reached a finger under Rhys chin. Bile raised in my throat as I saw her whisper something to him, something I couldn’t make out. When I tried to reach out for his mind, I was met with nothing more than those iron thick walls he built up. Amarantha’s eyes locked on mine and it was like she set me on fire. My skin burned, the string of her breaking my bones, of the attors smacking me down everytime I said something out of place. Finally I seemed to find my voice, but only a scream ripped from my throat at the phantom pain. Her red lips curled into a cold smile. “Welcome back pet.” another scream made its way from my throat.
I flung myself into a sitting position, jolting awake from the nightmare. My lungs ached as I gulped down air. My skin still burned and I threw off my blanket, pulling my knees to my chest. I almost screamed again as I realized the presence of something, someone, in my room.
Azriel’s soft voice said my name. “I heard you scream, I thought…” My eyes finally adjusted and I could make out his frame. “I’m sorry. I'll go.”
“No.” I rasped, throat raw. I must have actually been screaming. That explains his presence in my room, kind of. My hand went up to my neck attempting to rub away the pain in my chest. The pain didn't stop the request that bubbled over my lips. “Please. Stay.” I saw him go still, turning back around to me. Even in the dark, I was able to find his eyes, wide open as they locked on mine. Tears welled up in my eyes and I tried not to sniffle.
He whispered my name again. “Just go back to sleep.” He was starting to turn around again. My body reacted faster than my mind, I reached over the large bed, reached for his arm. “Please.” It was all I could get out. Please stay. Please talk to me. Please can we pretend that all of this didn’t happen and please be my best friend again. So many things tied into that one word. It’s almost like he sensed it and he sighed, relaxing into my touch.
“Only until you fall back asleep.” He sounded exhausted and his tone made me feel heavy all over again. He still shuffled in behind me. I tried not to think about the fact that when I went to tuck myself into his chest that I was met with bare skin. Resisted the urge to trail my hand down along those perfect abs, to the deep vee that I knew laid beneath them. I just buried myself deeper into his side and I felt his wings wrap around me, shielding me from the world around us as I drifted back to sleep. The smell of cedar lulling me into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up feeling more rested than I had since I’ve been back home. I knew he wouldn’t still be here but my hand still reached out to the side of the bed he’d been in, still warm. He had stayed. That explains why I slept so well. His scent lingered in the room and not caring how desperate it might have seemed, I buried my face into the pillow he had been laying on. I let his scent surround me and calm me down. A knock on the door had me groaning but sitting up anyways.
‘You didn’t come to breakfast so I wanted to check on you…” More said as she opened the door, she looked around as she spoke and her face fell slightly before continuing. “I had Nuala make you a tray in case you were hungry when you woke up.” She held a small wooden tray in her hand and I beamed at her, touched by the small gesture from my cousin.
“Thank you.” Was all I could get out, tears threatening to fall at the kindness in her action.
“I heard you last night.” She spoke quietly as she walked to the edge of my bed, sitting down at my feet. “I know I wasn’t there, but if you ever need to talk, or just someone to listen to. I’ll always be here.”
“You don’t need that stuff in your head too. It’s bad enough it's mine.”
She said my name in a concerned tone and I waved her off. “Don’t we have some books you need me to finish?” I said, deflect. She sighed sensing she wouldn’t win this one.
“Maybe we should take a break from the library today.” My face dropped as I thought of what I could possibly do with my day if it wasn’t reading with Mor. “I need to go shopping for some stuff, start looking around for Solstice presents and I haven't had a proper shopping buddy…” She trailed off, giving me a full megawatt smile.
“Alright let's go, before you start batting your eyelashes at me.” I playfully rutted her in the ribs and she threw her arm over my shoulder.
I haven't gone out to the shops in Velaris since I’d been back home. A part of me had forgotten how beautiful my home truly was. I tried not to stare in awe at the new vendors, the smell of food lingering in the air. People walked to and fro, running errands for the day. Mor and I had found one of my favorite dress shops and all but pulled me into the shop.
The designer was known for her slightly scandalous fashion. Floor length gowns with cut outs that left little to the imagination but were still heartbreakingly gorgeous. By the time Mor and I left, our arms were full of bags and I still had a few more dresses to pick up that needed to be altered.
We flitted in and out of more stores until the sun was starting to sink behind the horizon. When I noticed where we were I almost suggested we stopped by Rita’s but my shoulders were starting to hurt from the weight of the bags and Mor wouldn’t be able to winnow us into the house if we did have a few drinks nor did I even want to think of carrying them back.
So when we finally checked out from the last store, Mor having purchased a honestly hideous printed shirt for Cassian, we joined arms and started the walk back to the townhouse.
After dropping off all of my new things in my room, I knew I had to go apologize to Rhys. Armen could wait, if I ever bothered to say sorry to her. She wouldn’t hold it against me either way. Our relationship was more antagonist than anything else anyways. So I put the clothes into my closet and padded off to find Rhys.
Eventually I found him in his study. He didn’t look up as I closed the door behind me. I called his name. Still nothing. So I walked over to his desk. I noticed he was clutching a letter in his hand, holding it so tightly that it was starting to crinkle. I went beside him and soothed the letter out of his hand. My face paled as I read carefully over the words.
Feyre was marrying Tamlin.
The letter wasn’t an invitation. Just a simple announcement that would be extended to all high lords when one of them married. I dropped the piece of paper like it had burned me. I grasped for the right words to say to my brother, but when he looked up at me they all faded away. Agony I had never quite seen in them before knocked the breath from my lungs.
“I know I have no reason to be upset. I should just be happy that she’s  happy. But I can’t find it in me.” He stared at the tattoo on his hand. “I’ll never see her again. Not after she marries him. I might get glimpses at balls but I’ll never really be able to see her.” Never be able to see her because we both know how Tamlin treats the people he loves. The gilded cage Feyre will be locked in the moment she says “I do”. I gave myself a moment to mourn for the girl. But I know there was nothing either of us could do in this situation. So I did the only thing I could think of. I strolled over to the bar cart in the corner of the room and poured both of us a few fingers of whiskey. He eyed it carefully as I passed him the glass. He took it out of my hands and knocked it back in one fluid motion. I did the same with mine. Holding out the glass for more, I poured him another. We just sat drinking until the familiar flush started to creep onto my face. Rhys hasn't said much, neither of us have. Content with drinking away the pit in both of our stomachs.
“I love her.” He said after he finished his third glass. He didn’t sound. In fact this was  the most sober I think I had ever heard him
“I think I’ve loved her since I first saw her in the spring court. But I know I loved her when she offered herself in place of Tamlin. This brave human offering to save our entire world, who before that moment would have let her tear her to shreds.” He grimaced, as if the very thought disgusted him.
“So tell her.” I said with a shrug. He glared at me.
“You know it’s not that easy.” I did know. But I wanted him to be happy. I didn’t want him to have to sit here and drown out his sorrow while Tamlin got to play hero. Tamlin, who sat around while my brother risked his neck time and time again to save Feyre. He slumped down into his chair and laughed at the ceiling.
“The mother can be a real bitch sometimes. I don’t know what I did to deserve all this good fortune.” His voice was bitter and truly didn’t know how to respond. I went to pour him another glass but he put a hand over his glass.
“As much as I appreciate what you’re doing. I think I need to go to sleep before I march into the Spring Court and drag her out. Regardless of if she’ll hate me or not.”  His eyes soften as he looks at me. “You should head to bed soon too. I don’t need to look into your mind to know you’re going a million miles a minute right now.”
He wasn’t wrong. My thoughts had been roaring around in my head since I read that letter. It wasn’t hard to put myself back into Feyre’s shoes. My heart panged for this selfless girl. How long until the cracks in the foundation started show and she would be pulled into the storm that is Tamlin. I nodded in acknowledgement of his words. Putting the cork back onto the glass bottle. I rose from my chair, rolling my stiff shoulders. Rhys and I both returned to our respective rooms.
Hard as I tried, I couldn’t sleep. I tossed and turned but couldn’t get comfortable. I had run out of the sleeping tonic a few nights before so I just accepted that sleep wasn’t going to come. I made no move to get out of bed though. I just curled my covers tighter over me. When the sun peeked through my curtain. I didn’t get up. I didn’t go to training. I didn’t even get up from my bed until mid afternoon, just going far enough to use the bathroom. Immediately crawling back into the warmth of my bed.
Someone had knocked on the door and I pretended to be asleep when I heard the door click open. I ignored the smell of cedar until I felt a shadow sweep across my bed, settling by my face. If it knew I was asleep, it didn’t respond to its master. But it also didn’t leave when my door softly shut. I just turned to face away from the ripple of blackness. Not wanting to deal with the comfort the small action granted me.
When I finally left my bedroom the next day, I learned Rhys had behaved similarly yesterday. The two of us floating around the house. We were bad enough that the others cleared out of whatever room we were in. I couldn’t find it in myself to really care enough to knock it off.
This continued for the remainder of the week leading up to the date of the wedding. I expected the same behavior as I woke up the morning of the big day. But when I walked into the kitchen, Rhys was sitting around the table with Cassian and Azriel, head thrown back in laughter. He turned his head to me as I walked in and smiled at me.
“Glad to see you’re feeling better.” I grunted at him. Walking to the fridge I pulled out a bowl of fruit and swiped a couple pieces of sliced strawberry. He hummed in response and Cassian spoke up.
“We’re going to the cabin later, if you want to come with us. We’ll need someone to help us finish all this booze.” He gestured to three large boxes that were occupying the floor of the kitchen. I raised an eyebrow to Rhys and he shook his head. Drop it. He spoke in my head. I shoved him out and when I looked back at him, he looked hurt.
“Boys, can I speak to my brother alone?” The two looked confused but stood up from the table regardless.
“You don’t approve?” Rhy asked plainly. I scoffed.
“They might not know what today is, but I do,” I snatched the unopened bottle from his hand. “If you want to drink yourself stupid, I won’t stop you but that doesn’t prevent all of this from happening.” He made a lunge for the bottle and I was somehow able to keep it out of his grasp. He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers.
“What do you want me to say? That I would rather her marry anyone else than him? That I wish I was the one that she was happy to see. That I wished she would change her mind…” He trailed off. Eyes seemingly far away.  Horror washed over his face.
“Rhys?” I spoke softly, wondering if I pushed him too hard.
“I have to go.” Was all he said and before I could catch him, he had winnowed away.
I had been on edge since Rhys disappeared with no sign of where he was going to. It hasn't been more than an hour but I was about to wear a hole through the rugs in the hallway with my pacing. Suddenly, I heard Rhys in my head. Grab Mor and meet me at the big house. I didn’t respond. Just went to find Mor, she must have received a similar message because when I got to her room she was already waiting for me. She didn;t ask any questions, merely grabbing my arm and winnowing us to the house we rarely ever used. When we arrived to the house I nearly gasped as I saw why Rhys had disappeared so suddenly. I just had time to make out a satin slipper as it was chucked with deadly precision right at Rhys’ head. She had barely launched the other one at him before she stormed off up the stairs. Rhys was all but growling as he stalked over to us. “That went well.” Mor snorted at him and this time Rhys actually growled at her before stalking over to his own room.
We didn't see or hear from Feyre for the rest of the night, the three of us eating in silence. I felt the tension rolling off of Rhys when Nuala and Cerridwen informed us that Feyre hadn't eaten the dinner they had left for her. My stomach sank and I avoided the stare from my brother. He had asked me to go check on her. Saying that I could offer her some company. I didn’t have it in me to talk to her yet. Didn’t want to make this day, this decision, about me. And I know going into that room I would see a younger version of myself I wasn’t ready to face.
The next day, Rhys had insisted on her joining us for breakfast. She came stomping down the stairs. “I’m not a dog.” She sneered at him before taking a tentative seat at the table.
She looked around and her eyes locked onto mine, recognition sparkling in them,
“I remember you. You were under the mountain. What are you doing here?” Her tone was surprisingly pleasant, a stark contrast from every word she had said to my brother.
I introduced myself. “I’m his sister.” She laughed at that.
“I’m sorry to hear that.” It was hard to bite back my comment while I looked at her. It was like looking into an old memory, the dark circle around her eyes, the way the light had completely vanished behind them. She didn’t even look like this under the mountain. Tamlin had broken her completely. I’m sorry for you. I didn’t say that though, instead just responding with a simple.
“You get used to it.”
“I doubt that.” She snorted and started picking at the food in front of her.
Letters and Lust
Edmund Pevensie x Reader
Requested by @potatosdragon (hope it’s to your liking!)
‘Hi again,
I really liked the writing you made with my idea, and I just thought of another one and had to send it to you.
So it's Edmund Pevensie again
And the reader has been sent to a boarding school so the writing would be letters sent between the reader and ed. Maybe he sends her a scandalous one and the teachers find it.
It might be a bit vague so I would totally understand if you don't want to write it but I just needed to see if you would.
Thank you so much’
There is no mention of Narnia, so the fic can either be taken as taking place in a non-Narnia world, or just that the sex and the letters are more important than ruminating on the left-behind fantasy world 🤷‍♀️
Warning : smut, explicit language, charming-and-sweet-boyfriend!Edmund
----------------------------------------------------------
Mareafe Academy
6th September, 1944
Dearest Edmund,
I have literally just sat down on the bed in my dormitory, and the FIRST thing I did was pull out a piece of paper and a pen so I could write to you. And, alright, perhaps I also arranged my novels in the little bedside table I have.
I’m early, and my dorm-mates haven’t arrived yet, so I can write in peace and solitude, too- shucks, I won’t be having much of that anymore, will I? It hasn’t even been twenty minutes in the boarding school yet, but I already really miss day school. However DO you manage at boarding school??? And you’ve been studying at one since you were eleven!
I miss you, Ed. I miss your freckles. I miss you holding my hand. I miss zoning out of the conversation when you talk about chess. I miss you not even realising that I’ve zoned out.
I wish my parents weren’t going away to Y/H for the rest of the year- yes, I will miss them, too- and I wish that St. Finbar’s had a vacancy so I could have attended then, because I would have been close to you throughout the year then. I really thought that’s how it would happen- that once school started again, you’d be going to Hendon, and I’d be going to St. Finbar’s, and we’d be close-by, like always. I mean, the last couple of years, we were together all the time, because the war had closed the schools down.
I love you. Chess-obsessed idiot you are, but I love you so much. Alright, you’re not an idiot, you’re the smartest person I know, but still. Your cheeks get so red when I call you an idiot.
I have to go, I can hear footsteps coming to this room. You know what that means- people. Ugh. I do not like people.
I’ll post this when I get time, and you BEST write me back as soon as possible! Bye-bye, darling.
Love, Y/N
Y/N stared at the letter after she capped her pen, and continued staring at it even as the noise of chattering and laughter filled the room.
She finally stopped staring once one of the girls approached the bed she was sitting on, with a welcoming smile- probably one of the old students- and she put down the letter. As she sat up and readied herself to stand up, and- regrettably- socialise, her eyes fell on the letter one last time.
‘Dearest Edmund’ were the two words she managed to read, and she smiled to herself.
--
The day after that, Y/N hurried to the telephone room during the break, after the classes of the day and before the prep-time of the evening. Her hurrying was because the monitor of her form had come by her solitary armchair, where she’d been reading the newest Nancy Drew, and informed her that her mother was calling.
“Hello, M-?”
“Don’t finish the word, darling, I’m not your Mum.” Came the lovely voice of her even lovelier boyfriend, Edmund Pevensie. “Did I get the routine right? It’s your break now, yeah?”
“Yes- it is-” Y/N had sent him her class-routine along with the letter, “but- I thought- the monitor said that-”
“Oh, I just put Susan on the telephone for that.” He chuckled. “She sounds very much like a priggish old lady.”
Y/N snorted, after which he continued, sounding a bit nervous, “Wasn’t sure how receptive a teacher or monitor would be to a young man calling and asking for the prettiest person in school.”
Her cheeks were already scarlet, “Ed, you haven’t even seen the others in the school.”
“And I don’t need to.”
“You charmer, you.” Y/N spoke, toying the telephone wire around her fingers. Then her voice softened, dropping to a whisper, “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” His voice softened, as well, and she could imagine the tenderness in his chocolate brown perfectly. “I miss you, Y/n/N.”
“Me too- and the fact that I probably won’t see you until Easter break-” her parents would be returning to Finchley then, “which is SEVEN MONTHS FROM NOW, is just torture.”
“I couldn’t agree more. The moment I’ve enough money, I’m coming up there and we’re spending the weekend at some cosy inn.”
Her blush deepened, and- oh, how she wanted to kiss him. And more. Oh, she truly wanted that inn-weekend immediately.
Still, she spoke teasingly, “I think the Headmistress might have some problems with you whisking away one of her students for the entire weekend.”
“What can educational administrators or institutions do when it comes to true love?” Edmund spoke dramatically to his girlfriend, and Y/N- giggling again- could visualise him having his hand on his heart. “Oh, I did love the birthday gift by the way, my last suspenders were hand-me-downs. But why-”
“Because-” Y/N’s voice lowered again, but it wasn’t so much as it was sultry, “I like to hold them and tug at them when I’m on top of you, and honestly, with the state the last ones were in, I was afraid they’d tear the moment I touched them.”
She glanced at the door of the tiny telephone room, just to make sure there was privacy- before turning back to the telephone.
“And- your suspenders aren’t the only thing I want to tear off you, you know.”
She heard a gulp on the other end, and then Edmund’s hoarse voice speak, “What I would give to be back to the ninth of August- and the twelfth- and the sixteenth- and the twenty-third- and the twenty-fifth- and the twenty-sixth- and the thirty-first- and the first two days of September.”
Visions of Edmund, his pale, freckled body under her, on top of her, beside her, kissing her, touching her, licking her, fucking her- made their way immediately into Y/N’s mind, and she clenched the telephone receiver tight.
They weren’t visions, they were memories, and she pushed her legs pressed together.
“I can’t believe you remember all the days.”
“I can’t believe we had less than a month of it.” He whispered back, huskily, and Y/N licked her lips. “Oh, Y/n/N-”
“If you keep calling me that, I will run back to Finchley and have-” oh, she couldn’t say the word, she didn’t know if the walls were soundproof!, “and read with you in front of your entire family.”
“Read?” Oh, she just knew that Edmund was smirking. “Read what?”
“Everything you can imagine.” Oh, she could be husky and seductive, too! “Everything you want.”
“Everything we want.” He corrected immediately, and Y/N could no longer ignore how wet she was. “I- oh, goodness gracious, I need to have a cold shower now.”
“I need to have you, but I’ll have to settle for a shower, too.” She just hoped none of her dorm-mates asked why she was having a shower at such an odd time. “I should go, prep-time is about to start. Call me earlier next time, my love.”
“Okay, will do.” Edmund promised. He’d call her all the time- it was the only way for her to be in his life for the next seven months. Well, that, and letters. Yes, letters... He could make good use of those, too. He really would miss his girlfriend terribly. “I love you, Y/n/N.”
Y/N sighed, and rested her head against the wall- wishing it was her boyfriend’s shoulder instead. As if it wasn’t bad enough that she missed her family- missed home- she had to miss the love of her life, too.
“And I love you, Edmund.”
--
Edmund was not at school. He was grateful for that- though, not as much as Peter or Susan were, and more than Lucy was- for he quite enjoyed the time at home, with his family. He didn’t mind school, generally, for he liked to read, and learn, and he did well in tests- but who could pick school over home?
Certainly not he.
Regardless of his gratitude for not being at school, he did regret that he was at home- because of Y/N. It was entirely unjust that she was stuck there, in some boarding school she had never been to, with her family travelling away for some urgent emergency, away from her home, whilst he was at home and with his family.
He wished he could go to her- he badly wanted to see her, be with her. Just for half a day, even. He was intending to, and had even started planning to go there for Christmas, but his parents had informed them that their grandparents were coming to stay Christmas week- which effectively poured water on his half-formed plans.
All they had now was letters. Not even telephone calls- at least for the present, for the old telephones had been removed, and new ones were being put in, and Y/N had said that she didn’t know how long it would take in her last letter. There was only one working telephone in the entire school, the Headmistress’s, and, as his dear girlfriend had said, “I don’t think she’ll be very keen to let me use it so I can hear sweet nothings from my boyfriend.”
Edmund was making the most of the letters.
Several of the ones he’d written were humorous- even if he did say so himself, droll, and loving, chronicling the things that had been happening at home and with him, as well as asking Y/N what was happening with her and showing sympathy for her ‘incarceration’ (as she put it in one of her letters) in school.
-
My cousin, Eustace, came over with his parents for Dad’s birthday. You’ve met him, the shrill kid with the eyebrows, and the terrible name- Eustace Clarence Scrubb? Anyway, they were to stay the entire weekend, which everyone- including them- were very annoyed about, but we all had decided to take it as much in stride as possible. But Eustace is just so annoying, and he was driving us four MAD the entire day- to show how much, even LUCY asked for him to shut up. Well, she said ‘please, be quiet, I have a headache’, but that’s ‘shut the bloody hell up!’ for her.
At any rate, he was driving us crazy. I told you he has a fixation with entomology- insects- and he brought his whole kit and collection of insects with him. Can’t part with it, apparently, since he’s observing some live specimens to note down some specifics about them that he feels the entomology books got wrong.
We (Peter and I, since Eustace is sharing our room) let those live specimens free. Freedom is extremely important, I know you agree, my darling.
In the morning, Susan- with such a smile on her face she resembled the Cheshire Cat- said that Eustace had demanded to go home, and so our aunt, uncle, and cousin were to leave for Cambridge after lunch by train.
And it’s only Saturday! HA.
-
It is unfair, Y/n/N, far too unfair that you’re in school, while most of the country isn’t! It should be a law that each educational institution should open and close at the exact same times, and that there should be the same number of hols- otherwise, it’s just bloody unjust. If I wasn’t already sure that I want to be a lawyer, this would have made it CERTAIN for me.
You deserve better, my love. Especially since you hate school so much. If I could swap places with you, I would. I’d look very pretty in a skirt and your school’s uniform, don’t you think?
-
Did you read the new Hardy Boys? The Melted Coins? Frankly, I’ve been enjoying Nancy Drew more than the last couple of Hardy Boys- is just me? I prefer mysteries related not to treasure nowadays, I feel. Buried treasure just feels far too overused.
-
But several were- they were not humorous and sympathetic and bibliophilic as much as they were libidinous.
Edmund wrote those letters late at night, when his brother was fast asleep and snoring. He was a night owl, thankfully- though, not as much as Y/N, whose sleeping schedule was more vampiric than human. He’d write the letters, burning the midnight oil, blush quite brilliantly at the contents of what he’d written as well as the images of his beautiful girl from that his mind came up with, and then he would go and post the letters the next morning.
-
Darling, you know I think a lot, but you know what I think the most about?
You. Always you. Your smile, your eyes, your eyebrows, the nose I love to kiss, the curve of your lips, and your hips. How I hold them when you take me inside you. The way your eyes flutter when I flick your nipples, how your mouth opens whenever I lick at your sex.
How incandescent you look during and after sex, on top of me or under, your body pressed hard against me. How your lips call my name, how my name sounds in your voice. We had so few moments where we could do all that- but we really made the most of it, and I’m endlessly grateful. And we’ll see each other very soon, and I SWEAR all our fantasies will be indulged.
You make me tremble, and you leave me breathless, especially when I look at your face flushed with ecstasy and when I hold you in my arms while making love. And I love you so much in those moments, as I love you in every moment I live.
-
I miss your tits. Your lovely, large, lovely tits. I miss how you giggled when I kissed them. I miss all of you.
-
Do you know I have to keep taking showers more than once every day? Every time I think of you, I just get so hard and I need to get myself off, after which I need to clean up- consequently showers.
Your last letter, about the- about the swimsuit and the swimming exhibitionism thing- I don’t think I’ve ever come so hard from getting myself off. If it’s your hands or mouth, yes, but not from my own hands.
I want that, too. You know that. I want all of that, so BADLY. Sometimes I’ll wander down some alleyways, the ones that are shortcuts, and I’ll think of pushing you against a wall and fucking you then and there. I think of you wearing those sexy knee-socks as you spread yourself on the bed. I’ll think of how bright your eyes get when I enter you, and-
Fuck, I’m hard again. Bloody hell, Y/n/N, I’ve already showered twice today! I’m going to die of a cold, at this rate.
-
Chocolate is my favourite taste. I adore chocolate, and I’d probably eat the floor if it was made of it. I mean, no offence to those five kids, but I should have gotten a Golden Ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
But I adore tasting you, too. I love you writhing under me, as I kiss along your thighs, and I love you pulling my hair when I finally have my tongue inside you. I adore everything about you, every single thing- but, gosh, your taste. You taste like oranges, and I drink your essence like I’ve been thirsty for centuries. I’m a rational person, easily the wisest in my family- not that that’s a difficult achievement- but you, Y/n/N, you drive me wild.
-
I want you to fuck me. I want you kneeling in front of me, your mouth around me, sucking me harder and faster. I want you to make me moan your name over and over and over until you unravel me completely. I want to give you hickeys everywhere. I want to be yours. I want to be inside you again. I want you.
-
Y/N’s replies would come the very next day, and he would lock himself in the bathroom whenever he read them.
Her replies were even more explicit and- as she had herself said in a telephone call- more unhinged than his.
-
Every night before I sleep, I masturbate. I close my eyes, fix my blanket, and then I touch myself. I touch myself, and I think of how you hold me. I touch myself, and I think how you kiss me. I touch myself, and I think of how you lick my breasts, how you suck at my clit. I touch myself, and my body shakes, and I think of how you fuck me. I come, somehow, my hips lifting, and I think of you and only you, my dearest.
Then I go to the bathroom to pee and wash my hands, and then, just as I’m about to fall asleep, I think of you again.
I turn, shoving my face into my pillow, and I fuck myself again, all the while wishing it was your fingers and your mouth and your cock inside me instead.
-
I drew you naked in class today. I spent a lot of time on your fingers. And your freckles. I really, truly, madly love your freckles. I love that I’ve kissed all of them, all over your body. Even the ones on your cock. I love them. I love you.
-
Was down swimming today- it’s cold weather usually, but somehow it was pretty warm today. I was really glad, and the MOMENT we finished breakfast, I ran to get my swimsuit and went to the pool. I mean, I didn’t run, I definitely never run, but I did walk very fast.
So I went to the pool, wearing my swimsuit and a bathrobe over it, and as I was taking it off, I wished you were there. I wanted you to watch me. I wanted to take off my robe, and my swimsuit, and I wanted you to see me, your pretty eyes going dark as I get naked. And I wanted you to take off whatever you were wearing, too- hopefully suspenders. I love you wearing suspenders, and I love to drag them off you. Obviously, I’d be watching you as well, because how can I ever NOT look at you?
And then I wanted to make love with you then and there. Outside, in public, uncaring of whether anyone could see. I still want it.
Writing this down, I’m throbbing again. I can smell how wet I am, goodness.
-
I might kill someone if I don’t get you inside my cunt right NOW.
P.S. (adding this in the morning), I didn’t kill anyone. A lot of people at school make me murderous, but I’ve had self-control so far.
I have, however, put a photograph of myself in this letter, one that I’m sure you’ll like. I’m not as adept a photographer as you- you know how much I fidget- but, again, I think you’ll like it. And I hope, love, that you’ll send me one in reply, too- only if you want to.
I love you. And enjoy my tits. Let me know what effect they have on you.
--
“Post’s here early!” One of Y/N’s classmates called out- she had just stood up to leave the Dining Hall, and had seen the postman walk across the doorway at the far end of it. “Oh, hope Mum got me the hair-band I fancied!”
As her friend pulled her down to the seat, teasing her in whispers that she needed a few dozen hair-bands to keep her flyaway hair in control, Y/N stood up.
She never ate much in the mornings, anyway- if it wasn’t compulsory, she would absolutely have skipped breakfast every day, waking up exactly six minutes before classes started. And now that mail was here early, she would go and see if she had letters- she usually had one from Edmund every other day, and one from her family every week, as well as occasional letters from some other friends she had left behind. There were, though, also many days that she did not have letters.
Today was not one of those days.
Recognising Edmund’s signature on the back of the envelope, Y/N snatched it from the tray of letters, and grinned hugely. She grinned so widely, in fact, that a group of first-formers heading her way saw her and ran away in the opposite direction.
She usually opened letters from her darling boyfriend in private, since their letters were private, and- more often than not- intimate. Today, though, she lacked the patience and ripped it open as soon as she reached the- thankfully empty, since most of the school was still at breakfast- entrance hall of Mareafe Academy.
Her fingers felt the texture of the letter’s paper- but along with it, they felt a much smoother, cooler surface. She pulled both out immediately- she was a curious creature, and then Y/N almost dropped the envelope.
She wasn’t just curious. She was forgetful as well, and she’d forgotten what she’d sent along with her last letter. And that she’d added a request, of sorts, for a similar response.
And she had got it.
It was a photograph of Edmund. He’d clearly taken it himself, from the angle- and another, far more clearer thing, was that he was naked. He was utterly, completely naked, from head to thigh- that was as much was there in the picture. Oh, and his thighs- what lay in between them- Y/N licked her lips.
Almost immediately, she bit her bottom lip to keep from accidentally moaning, and then Y/N hurried to the staircase that led up to the dormitories to sit down on the fifth step. Setting down the letter and the envelope on the sixth step- yes, yes, she would read it in a second, she desperately wanted to read what Edmund wrote, but she just needed to admire the gorgeous being that the love of her life was- she looked at the photograph even longer. Her eyes danced around to his pale and lithe form, to the flat of his abs that she’d press her palms against sometimes, to different spots of him she’d sucked, to all the starry freckles she had kissed, to his lovely lips that gave her kisses that brought her both calm and passion, and to all the parts of him that she adored.
She would absolutely be missing her first class, so she could take advantage of an empty dormitory- she would look at the photograph, and then she would mas-
“Child, is this yours?” Came a voice- and then, immediately, a hand bent down to pick up the letter and the envelope carelessly left on the stair.
Y/N turned, in panic and horror and so many other unpleasant, cardiac-arrest-reminiscent symptoms- but the damage was done. The form-mistress for the first form, as well as the House-Mistress for the school House she was in, Ms. Potts, had her hands on her letter.
And her eyes were on the letter- growing wider and wider and wider and wider with every passing second.
“What,” Ms. Potts said, her lips pursed so tightly together they seemed conjoined, and her fair cheeks turning a blotchy red, “is this abhorrent, shocking, and vile thing sent to you?”
Oh, Heavens. Had Edmund written about how much he liked to have her sit stop his face? Or perhaps some details about how she sucked his cock.
Y/N did not say anything, because she felt petrified. Mortified. She had wished for death before, but she didn’t think she’d ever wished it quite so keenly and desperately. She’d take anything! Couldn’t those air raids start again!? Just for the day?!
There used to be a chandelier in the entrance hall- it had been removed as the war had begun. She wished it was still there, so it could fall on her.
Ms. Potts shook in rage for a few more moments, apparently as unable as Y/N was of coherent speak- before spotting something in the student’s hand.
“What is that?” She asked, her gaze fixed on the photograph of Edmund. “Was that with his letter?”
“No.” The lie was immediate, and convincing. Talking, she was not very good at, but lie she could very well. “It’s a photograph of- of the tulip-bushes at our house in Finchley, ma’am. My parents asked a neighbour with green thumbs to look after the bushes, so they’ve bloomed again despite the house being empty-”
“Is that so?” The teacher cut off the narration, looking unimpressed. At least the splotches of red were lessening now, Y/N thought. “Let me see it, then, give it-”
“No!” Oh, she could have her letter, but she would not give away a photograph of Edmund naked! He’d trusted her with it, and she would DIE before letting a stranger see it. No one ever deserved to have their personal anecdotes or their personal photographs or documents be circulated to or by those who were never intended to see them. “Sorry, Ms. Potts, but it’s my photograph.”
“Hm, of course. Privacy is important.” Ms. Potts nodded, seemingly backing down. “But so is decency, Ms. L/N, and the things written in this letter-”
“I haven’t read the letter, ma’am.” Y/N said, because what else could she say? She didn’t know! She still felt like she was having a heart attack, and she was anxious about whether the hospital- oh, anxiety. She felt anxiety, and if Ms. Potts didn’t give her back her belongings, she may devolve into a full-blown panic attack. “I don’t know what it says. I’m not even sure whom it’s from-”
“Says it is from ‘your devoted and dearest Edmund’.” Her lip curled, and Y/N couldn’t be sure if that was a hint of humour or hatred. She could be sure, though, that she wanted the floor to open up and swallow her whole. Or at least transport her to somewhere far, far away, somewhere that was preferably known as ’Edmund’s arms’. “I thought such adoring signatures died out after the Georgian era.”
“I always thought that such signatures existed only in books.” The girl gave a shrug- not a nonchalant one, though that was the effect she was trying to convey. “Maybe- maybe that’s what this is, Ms. Potts, someone having transcribed a letter from a novel and sent it to me-”
“Admirable attempt at lying, L/N, but the lie only makes things worse. Mareafe Academy does not condone lying, cheating, or-” Ms. Potts looked down at the letter again, and the splotches reappeared, “such disgusting sentiments being written to the young women of tomorrow!”
“Oh, but- but, Ms. Potts-”
Why wasn’t there a dragon here? Either she could ride away on it, or it could eat her. Either way, her problem would be solved
Oh, she so hated to exist in a world of reality.
“And, according to devoted and dearest Edmund,” The teacher’s voice dripped with sarcasm, and it didn’t sound nearly as attractive as Edmund’s sarcasm did, “you were the one who asked to be sent such uncouth correspondence.”
Well, what was she to do now? Throw Edmund under the bus and keep him safe, or tell the truth and secure expulsion?
She couldn’t do either of that. She would protect Edmund and she would make sure her parents did not have to feel the shame of a child expelled from school.
What excuse could she give...
“I’m a writer.” Y/N said suddenly, before glancing down at the letter again- as soon as Ms. Potts lost focus on it, she’d grab it back. “I asked a friend of mine to help me with certain- salacious parts of the novel I’m working.”
Ms. Potts gave her a look, “Are you planning to become the female D. H. Lawrence, Ms. L/N? Need I remind you, most of his books were banned because of their- their inappropriate content.”
“And now he’s one of the most famous writers of the century.” Y/N pointed out. “I- I think that counts as a win.”
Ms. Potts rolled her eyes, “Would you like me to take this letter to the Headmistress? Perhaps she’ll motivate you with suspension to show her the photograph-”
“No!” She burst out again, shifting her weight from one leg to another, that was how nervous she was. She kept teetering-tottering. Edmund’s photograph would ensure expulsion.
Oh, why was this happening!? Wasn’t it bad enough that she’d had to wake up early for breakfast- even earlier than usual, because her dorm-mate had pulled the curtains back to let in the rare sunshine!? Waking up was awful enough!
“No- please, Ms. Potts, I don’t- I’m so- I’m sorry. I- promise that- that I won’t ask for such-” loving, “vile letters anymore. Please, I’m so very sorry, ma’am-”
“Alright, child. Calm yourself.” She sighed. Generally, she would have taken the student and the letter to the Headmistress, for its contents were that questionable- but she had a soft heart when she hadn’t had her morning coffee. And- well, she knew the girl was having a hard time with her parents so far away, and- and, between the inappropriate things, she could read the love that seeped out from every word. Edmund truly loved Y/N, despite the disgusting things he did to her and she did to him. “No supper for you for the rest of the week, L/N. Your suppertime will be devoted to extra prep time, and you’ll have two slices of toast and a glass of water before you head to bed.”
“Okay.”
At least it wasn’t expulsion- and she’d just spend the prep time daydreaming about Edmund. About the food, though- she usually was very hungry at dinner, but she’d have to make do.
“Thank you so much, ma’am- and, again, I- I am so- so sorry.”
“Hmph.” She made a sound to acknowledge the apology, and then held out the letter. “I’ll be reading the rest of your letters from this Edmund from now on.”
She nodded quickly.
“Now go put it somewhere private, I will come check in five-” after she had her coffee, “and for the Lord’s sake, get to class on time!”
She nodded again, grabbing the letter and the envelope, before running straight to her thankfully empty dormitory.
She had intended on locking the door, undressing- at least part-way- and then fingering herself until she came, while looking at Edmund’s photograph and/or reading his letter.
Y/N still wanted to do that, she thought, as she sank onto her bed. She wanted to do it even more, in fact, because now she had his letter, and she was reading all the beautifully dirty things Edmund wanted her to do to him or wanted to do to her- but she would refrain. Her sex was throbbing and her mouth was dry, but Ms. Potts would be up any second, and if she walked in on her masturbating- well, there would be no hope for her at ALL then.
For once, she would have self-control when it came to Edmund.
“Oh, darling.” She said, falling back on the bed and letting out a very long sigh. She wanted to go back to sleep. “Our fucking has fucked things up.”
--
Two months later:
“Yes, fuck, ah-ah, yes-” Y/N moaned, one of her hands gripping the bark of the tree she was pressed up against, while the other fisted itself firmly into Edmund’s hair, pushing his head further between her thighs.
They were in a clearing in the woods behind school- not too far in that they’d get lost, and yet not too near the entrance that they’d be seen by someone from her school. It was parents’ weekend- and, in place of her parents, Edmund had come to visit. Ms. Potts had enquired if she would be alone the weekend, and Y/N had lied that her uncle and aunt would be coming to take her for the two days- and the moment that Ms. Potts had turned around, she’d grabbed her little case and run outside. Thankfully, in all the crowd of cars and people outside the school, no one had noticed that the person she was hugging was a boy her own age, or that the hug was decidedly not platonic.
After they’d escaped the school, Y/N had said something that they couldn’t enjoy themselves in a pool- sand then Edmund had completed her sentence by saying that at least they could have some pretty good fun in the woods.
Edmund had taken up a paper route the last few months, and had done some odd jobs around the neighbourhood- and Y/N had made some money by tutoring some first-years, too. She’d begun the tutoring as a way to lessen Potts’s suspicion- but it had had a monetary advantage, too. Pooling their money together, they’d managed to afford one night at a nearby bed-and-breakfast, and they had both been so excited, Edmund had got on the wrong train- he’d realised just before it had started- and Y/N had buttered her hair, instead of her toast.
Edmund dug his fingers into her leg that was thrown over his shoulders, his tongue licking a path along her sex, and he felt a deep tightening in the pit of his stomach. He was already pleasured and sated- the moment he had arrived at the school gate, and had seen her run towards him, after which she’d thrown her arms around him, he’d been utterly content. He was even more so now. He had missed her so much.
He reached up blindly- but he was so familiar with her body, that he found her bare breast at the first try, cupping it hard as he began to suck at her clit.
“Come on, Y/n/N. Say my name.” Edmund grinned wolfishly, as a muffled sigh left her lips. “Moan if you missed me, darling.”
And she did.
This was exactly- exactly- what she needed. What both of them did. What they’d needed and wanted for so long. How utterly she had missed him.
And, considering that they’d only had sex for about ten days back in August, it was truly astonishing how well he knew her body. He really was a fast learner.
He knew it so well that she just could not keep her mouth shut, though she knew she couldn’t be too loud, “Fuck, Edmund-”
Then his fingers joined, too, inching closer to her clit, making her gasp and shiver and doubling the building ecstasy.
Needless to say, it took hardly a couple of minutes for Y/N to reach her zenith, her body relaxing as she came.
“No, no, no.” She said, a moment after her breathing eased- Edmund was looking around for their long-discarded shirts, his suspenders (which looked even sexier than usual, perhaps because she was seeing him for the first time in months), and her skirt.
Her boyfriend looked at her inquiringly- good Heavens, he was licking his lips, she might orgasm just looking at that.
She pulled her knickers up and debated on putting on her bra- she was trying to wear them more often, despite how much she disliked them, because she’d heard a sixth-former whisper in the pool that wearing bras helped with back pain.
And she had a lot of back pain.
But she decided against it. A few more minutes wouldn’t make her back hurt even more.
“Come a little closer?”
Edmund obeyed, but still looked blank. He was perfectly content to just look at her- after months of just letters, most of which had been censored and sanitised after a point- he just wanted to gaze at her.
“Why, Y/n/N?” He asked, and was answered by Y/N kneeling, pulling his trousers down, and wrapping her mouth around him in one fluid moment. He started violently, quite staggered by the action, and drew a sharp gasp of a breath. “G-give a fellow some warning, darling.”
“As though you didn’t know-” She pulled away from his cock for just a moment to smile at him- going down on her had hardened him, which meant he was already close, “that I wouldn’t let you go without returning the favour. It’s been too long, love.”
“I- forgot.” His lashes fluttered, his breath coming in short bursts as she started to take him in her mouth again, her head bobbing up and down between his legs. “S- ach, Y/n/N-” she sped up the work of her tongue- harder, faster- and he had to bite down on his bottom lip to hold back a moan, “silly me.”
She sucked for a few, slow moments- not enough to make him come, but enough to make him tremble and moan her name- and she could feel herself throb again, because it wasn’t inside her mouth that she needed him.
But she’d contentedly settle for this for the moment- it was Edmund, she liked doing almost everything with him.
Carefully, she pulled her mouth away from him- and asked softly, “Do you like this, my love? Do you like my mouth around you, as I kneel for you? As I put my tongue on your cock?”
Before he could reply, she bent forward again and trailed her lips all over his length, sometimes darting her tongue out to lick a freckle or sensitive spot- and then began to suck once more.
Minutes later, as the birds chirped in the trees, they lay on the warm grass. They held hands as Edmund slid inside Y/N, into the togetherness and oneness they’d had too little of and they had missed for months.
The sun scattered through the canopy of trees, falling onto their bodies, which flushed and naked and tight together. Their lips were pressed together, too.
And when they came together, they whispered both I love you and I missed you.
After that, lying naked on the warm grass and in each other’s arms, they made fun of other people- specifically, teachers- and teased each other- both verbal and sexual, and bantered, all interspersed with a lot of kissing. There was a small picnic basket lying a few feet from them, as well.
It was going to be an amazing weekend.
Lucifer/Alastor Oneshot - A Tale of Two Dads
Requested?: No
Prompt: None
Type of oneshot: Fluff/Angst
Reader's Relations: Alastor’s ex-girlfriend
Warnings: Spoilers for eps 7-8 of season 1! This was written the say those two came out
Other notes: Don’t ask how I thought of this…Somehow, my brain fixated on these two, and well oneshots is what happens when my brain gets fixated on characters.
-------------------------------
“You absolute bastard, Alastor!” I shouted once he’d shown up at Charlie’s hotel, seven years after leaving, “You leave for seven years and all you have to say is ‘hi’?! Someone hold me back before I fuck his face up!”
“Hello, My Dear, it’s good to see you too.”
“Fuck you,” I retorted, making eye contact with him, in an easy feat due to the fact I was the same height as him. He just smirked at me, using his microphone to lift my chin, an unnecessary thing due to the fact I was already looking at him, “Now now, that’s not the right way to talk to me, is it, My Dear?” I didn’t respond, instead I just growled and tried to punch him continuously, him dodging every blow I attempted to make.
“You should know that’s not going to work, (Y/n).”
“Fuck. Off. Before. I. Kill. You. Myself. Bastard. I’ve had to deal with a child that you-”
“Mama? What’s going on?”
My head immediately shot around to see Alianna standing at the bottom of the stairs, the seven-year-old rubbing her eyes as if she’d just been woken up. I gave Alastor another glare before rushing over, “It’s okay, Sweetie. Nothing you need to worry about,” I spoke, ruffling her red hair.
“You always say that!”
“I say that because most of the time, you don’t need to worry ab-”
Alianna cut me off, asking the question I had wished she would never have to ask, “Is he my Papa?”
If I’d been drinking something, I would definitely have spat it out in shock, “Now now, Ali, that’s something you don’t need to worry about you. You can learn more about your father when you are older.”
She pouted for a few seconds before, “Okay, I’m older!”
I chuckled, “I meant in a few years, now back to bed with you.”
Alianna sighed and nodded, running off back upstairs towards our room in the hotel. I let out a sigh of relief and stood up, turning around, only to have Alastor directly in my face, “For fuck sake, stop doing that, you bastard,” I shouted, punching him in the arm.
“Why should I stop when I get-”
“Were you listening to our conversation?”
“It was kind of hard not to, (Y/n)... I think you owe some people an explanation, and I’d be happy to loosen up your strings a bit if you know what I mean,” I heard Angel’s voice saying before I saw one of his arms dangling in front of my face and, what I guessed was another, on my head.
I rolled my eyes, “How many times, Angel? I’m not interested in you. Stop trying,” I growled, shoving him off me, “But, I guess you’re right about the explanation. This Radio Demon Bastard here,” I paused and pointed over in Alastor’s direction, “Is Alianna’s father. She doesn’t know, so please keep it quiet. I’m begging you.”
“You can always beg more, (Y/n). If you catch me drift…”
“Angel, shut up for once. Not the time for your sexual fantasies.”
------------------------------
“Alianna. No. Get back here right now!” I shouted, running up and pulling her off Lucifer gently, “I am so sorry, Sir. She got out of my sight. I apologise again.”
“It’s alright. She’s cute anyway. Much like her mother.”
I felt my face turn red as I looked away, but before I could say anything, Alastor was in front of me, glaring down at the Short King of Hell, “She’s mine. Get away.”
“Oh really?” Lucifer questioned, before walking around the Radio Demon and up to me, taking my hand in his, “Because there’s nothing on her hand to show she belongs to anyone,” he finished, bringing my hand up with his and kissing it, “But if she really is ‘yours’, she has had ample opportunity to stop my advances, and isn’t so…”
“I do not belong to anyone. You,” I turned and glared at Alastor, “May be Alianna’s father, but it doesn’t mean that I am ‘yours’. As a matter of fact, you lost all rights to even seeing her when you left, so you can just go away and leave me alone!” I shouted.
------------------------
A few days later, I found a(n) (F/c) rubber duck sitting on my bed, along with a note. “I wasn’t messing around when I said you were cute, I meant it. Call me? L.” there was a phone number at the bottom and I giggled. I knew it was probably wrong as he was Charlie’s dad, who was my best friend… But he’d made an impression on me. So I added the number to my phone under the nickname ‘Short King’, and sent a message, “I got your note. Thanks for the duck. How’d you know (F/c) is my favourite colour?”
--------------------------
I groaned in pain as I lay on the ruins of the hotel, after having come face to face with one of the angels, blood seeping from my side. It was just as I was losing consciousness, that I saw a flash of white in front of me, fighting off the angel.
LUCIFER’S POV
Once the angels had retreated, I turned back to (Y/n) to see her unconscious, with blood surrounding her. Immediately, I retracted my wings and knelt beside her, realising she’s been severely wounded, “(Y/n)? Please wake up. You have to. (Y/n), please. I- love you.”
“Dad?”
I looked up to see Charlie standing there, a saddened smile on her face, “You can’t bring her back.”
“Is there nothing?! No one can bring her back?” I asked, despair wreaking through my voice, as I felt tears cascading down my cheeks.
“I’ve got one idea… but it’s a long shot, so don’t get your hopes up,” Charlie replied, running off. She came back a few minutes later, dragging a girl behind her, who seemed to be complaining, “Charlie! I told you, I can heal, but I can’t combat the second death!”
“Just try. For me? Please?”
“I’m telling you, this isn’t going to work if she’s dead, Charlie!”
“Try though? Please, Brianna?”
“Fine, I’ll try, but no one get their hopes up,” the brunette replied as Charlie pulled her over. I noticed Brianna take a deep breath before kneeling on (Y/n)’s other side, cracking her knuckles, “I’ll say it again if she’s truly dead, then this isn’t going to work, but I’m going to need help,” she paused and turned her attention towards me, “May I ask for your help, Sir? This will only work if I have the help of someone she loves.”
“M-me? I-Isn’t there someone else that she loves? Like her daughter?”
The brown-haired demon just chuckled in response, “I mean it’s got to be romantic love, not platonic love.”
“Oh... Wait a minute, do you still want me to help? As much as I hate to say this, shouldn’t you be getting that Radio Demon to help? In the sense that he’s the father of her daughter, therefore she must love him.”
“As a matter of fact. I know she hates me. She lit-”
“Alastor’s right, Dad. You may not have realised, but that duck you gave her has pride of place in her room. Every day she makes a point of dusting it, and no one’s allowed near it. I’m surprised it’s not in a locked box that only she has access to. She wouldn’t have kept it if you didn’t mean anything to her. Plus you deserve to be happy as well,” Charlie spoke, placing a hand on my shoulder and kneeling beside me, “Trust me. You’re the one we need to bring (Y/n) back.”
“Well? Are you going to do this or not? We don’t have much time left.”
With a final boost of confidence from Charlie, I nodded, turning to Brianna, “Okay.”
She smiled, “Okay. In that case, I need you to place both your hands above where her heart is and keep your eyes closed. Can you do that?” I nodded, doing as she asked me, remembering to close my eyes.
YOUR POV
I woke up with a start, and I lifted my head in shock, but before I could say anything, I’d been wrapped in a hug, “(Y/n)!”
“O-oh.. hello, Mr Lucifer. I-It’s good to see you too,” I replied as he continued to squeeze the living Hell out of me, “C-can you let me go though? Personal space.”
“Sorry! I’m just glad you’re okay,” he started, letting me go as his face turned the same colour as his waistcoat, but before I could mention it, Charlie had spoken up, “See, Dad? Told you it was you that she loved.”
“CHARLIE!” I all but screamed, “HOW IN THE ACTUAL HELL DID YOU KNOW THAT?! You better start running. I don’t care if you’re the Princess of Hell, telling someone that your friend has a crush on them is not funny!” I continued, standing up and starting to chase after her, but before I could get too far I felt a gloved hand wrap around my wrist and pull me backwards, spinning me around, before I felt pressure on my lips. It took me a second to process, but once I did I wrapped my arms around the King of Hell’s neck and kissed him back.
“You have nothing to be ashamed of, (Y/n).”
I grinned widely, “Still embarrassing that it took your daughter to get us together though.”
“I have something for you, (Y/n)...”
“Let me guess… is it another rubber duck?” I asked, my voice laden with sarcasm. Lucifer’s face turned red as he looked at me a shocked expression on his face before out of thin air, a small box appeared. Lucifer took it in his hands before handing it to me, “I-I’ve been working on them since I left you the first one… I hope you like them.” I smiled and took the lid off, my eyes widening with glee at the sight of the small family of ducks. Two adults, one a light yellow, the other a (H/c) colour with lashes painted around the eyes, with two baby ducks, one the same colour yellow as the adult, also with eyelashes, and the other a red colour. I giggled at the meaning behind the colours, the adult ducks supposed to represent me and Lucifer, and the two baby ones representing Charlie and Alianna, and hugged the blonde male in front of me, “I love them, thank you. I know exactly where these are going,” I spoke, pecking Lucifer on the cheek after leaning down to do so, whispering in his ear, “Short King.”
“I am not that short!”
“Hmmm. Compared to me, you are,” I smirked, “Now, who wants to rebuild this hotel?”
—------------------------------END OF ONESHOT
The ending was not how I imagined it, but at least it didn’t go over 2000 words… This was originally supposed to have more Alastor x Reader in too, but it didn’t fit with the plot I was going with.
Your dad never really needs an excuse to hold a cookout, especially during these long summer months. So, when you finally get the call that you did in fact land the job you wanted, he’s straight out stocking up on enough beer to get the entire street drunk and enough food to feed the US army.
He’s currently grilling the second lot of steaks, even though everyone sat around the table is stuffed from the burgers, skewered meats and hot dogs and no-one can really move. It’s a quieter affair than your welcome home party – sat around the table are your parents, Tommy and Joel and two of your mom’s friends from work. That doesn’t stop you from planting yourself directly across the table from Joel, making eyes at him over your bottle of beer, and running your bare foot up the part of his leg that you can reach under the table.
He's been a picture of calm the entire time, his eyes didn’t throw a shade of warning across to you, just a look that said, ‘go on, I dare you.” Which you had been putting to the test the entire evening.
“Can’t believe you’re actually going to be an archivist, smartass,” Tommy beams across the table when you’ve all had your fill of food, “We all knew you’d land it though.”
You smile and clink your beer with his, “Can’t deny it’s a huge relief, thought I was going to be unemployed for way longer than this.”
“Drinks on you next time, then?” He teases, “Joel and I know a great bar in town, maybe we can go sometime?”
“Are the drinks cheap?” You smirk, “I’m not going to be making millions and the way you two drink I’ll be bankrupt in no time.”
As you’re talking you can feel Joel’s foot tapping against yours under the table. It’s innocent enough but it’s just distracting enough that you struggle to engage in the rest of the conversation. You’re grateful when your mother takes the lull of silence in conversation as a sign to start clearing up. You almost jump at the opportunity to help her, which has her raising her eyebrow, but she doesn’t question you.
Once she’s brought all the dirty plates and cutlery along with the dishes of leftovers, she grabs a chilled bottle of wine from the fridge and heads back out to her friends, leaving you alone, yet again, to clean up a party held for you. You make quick work of packaging up the leftover sides and meat, putting them in the fridge before you start rinsing plates and putting them in the dishwasher.
“This feels awful familiar,” Joel’s voice speaks behind you, you turn and watch him peer into the dishwasher, “Good girl, nice to see I’ve taught you somethin’ useful.”
“What the hell are you doing, Joel?” You hiss.
He looks at you with a confused look, “I was complimentin’ your stackin’ skills, am I not allowed to do that?”
“Good girl,” You attempt to mock his accent, “Really, Joel?”
He has a glint in his eye and smirk across his mouth, “Don’t usually complain when I’m calling you that.”
“Usually because we’re alone, Joel.” You murmur as he takes a step towards you, resting his hand on the small of your back before he leans down as close as he can get to speak into your ear.
“You started it,” He speaks lowly, “All that with your foot runnin’ up my leg, got me all worked up sweetheart, and now I want you.”
You jerk your head to look out of the window, no-one is particularly looking into the window, but it would be so easy for anyone to turn their head and immediately see Joel pressed up against you, whispering into your ear.
You nudge your elbow into his stomach behind you, “Not here,” You hiss, “Anyone could see us.”
“Awful shy, all of a sudden, sweetheart,” He teases into your ear, but is thankfully moving back from you, “Suit yourself.”
You finish stacking the dishwasher as he pulls out two cold beers from the fridge, using your dad’s ‘Florida’ bottle opener from a vacation you took years ago to open them both, setting one down on the side for you. He leans against the fridge once it’s closed, sipping at his beer as he watches you. You wipe your hands dry on a towel and grab the beer, taking two long drinks from the bottle.
“C’mon, people’ll be wondering where we’ve gotten to.”
“Certainly can’t have that.” You mumble, quietly enough that he doesn’t hear you.
Back outside, Tommy is stood with your dad at the bottom of the garden, looking into the shed. Tommy is pointing at something and laughing and a split second later you can hear your dad’s low chuckle as well. Your mom and her friends have moved from the table to sit on the loungers that are around the pool, sipping wine and squealing at whatever neighbourhood gossip they’re talking about.
Joel’s hand is on the small of your back again, guiding you back to the table you were sitting at to eat dinner, you sit back in your old chair, Joel this time opts to sit next to you, because of course he does.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” You tip your beer bottle towards your mom and her friends.
“Probably the fact that Marcia at the end of the street is having an affair with her assistant at work.” He says it so nonchalantly that you almost think he’s joking, until you look up at him and find he’s deadly serious.
“Oh my god, really?” You choke on your beer, “Joel she’s like sixty, how old is he?”
He shrugs, “How am I supposed to know,” he takes a sip of his own drink, “Heard ‘em gossiping when I came inside.”
“Get it girl, I guess,” You snigger, “Her husband must be pushing seventy and we’ve all got needs I suppose.”
His warm hand comes to rest on your thigh, just above your knee. It’s under the table and with everyone else preoccupied with their conversations, no-one would really notice, but there’s still a thrill settling through your bones.
“Promise you’d let me sort your needs out at seventy, sweetheart?”
You snort, “Joel, when I’m seventy there’s a strong likelihood, you’ll either be senile in a home or dead.”
He throws his head back as he laughs, probably one of the most genuine expressions of happiness you’ve ever seen from him, and it warms your heart that you were the one to cause it. Outside of Tommy and Sarah, and occasionally your dad, Joel was stoic, almost to a fault, but you liked this version of him, warm and happy, with his hand on your thigh.
Said hand is now currently inching it’s way higher, hitting the material of your dress. You drop your head and watch as his hand disappears underneath the white linen material to rest dangerously close to the apex of your thighs. You turn your head to give him a warning look but he’s not even paying attention to you. He’s looking anywhere but at your face, his own plastered with a look of complete indifference that his fingers are brushing the cotton of your underwear and causing your breath to catch in your throat.
You can feel him tracing the seam of your pussy through the material and if he’s not careful, within the next few seconds you’re going to outwardly beg him to bend you over and fuck you on this table in front of everyone. To save yourself the pain of watching him slowly murdered by your father, you reach down and grab his wrist, pulling his hand away from you.
“Will you give it a rest?” You chide, “Don’t start something you can’t finish.
Almost on cue, Tommy is bounding up the garden, your father a few steps behind him. Joel extricates his hand from between your legs, still looking like the picture of calm.
“Can you give me a ride into town?” Tommy asks, “Delia wants to grab drinks.”
You watch as Joel rolls his eyes, “Can you not take a cab?”
“C’mon Joel, just run me into town, it won’t take too long.”
“Who’s Delia?” You ask, winking at Tommy.
“Tommy’s latest girlfriend,” Joel replies, standing from the chair, “He’s smitten.”
“She ain’t my girlfriend, jackass,” Tommy glares at Joel, “We’re just spendin’ time together.”
“Oh, so she’s your fuck buddy then?” You smirk, causing Joel to choke on his spit and Tommy to laugh.
“Oh, c’mon old man,” Tommy is teasing, clapping him on the back, “You could use one’a them yourself, spendin’ all your time alone in that house.”
It’s your turn to flush, the words if only you knew spring to the forefront of your mind, and it’s almost like Joel reads your thoughts.
“Who says I ain’t got one of my own?”
Tommy looks disgusted for a second at the thought of his older brother having his own fuck buddy, you can feel your cheeks flushing too, knowing that it’s you he’s talking about when no-one else around you has any idea, “Right, well you keep that information to yourself please.” Is all Tommy replies before him and Joel are bidding everyone goodbye.
You sit for a moment outside, trying to calm yourself down, but all you can do is rub your thighs together and sigh that Joel did in fact start something he couldn’t finish, leaving you high, dry and horny in favour of taking his brother into the city to get his dick wet.
“You alright, doll?” Your dad asks, taking Joel’s old chair, “Looking a little flushed,” He puts his hand on your forehead to check for a temperature, “You feelin’ alright?”
“I’m fine dad,” You mumble in response, suddenly hyper aware of the high-pitched screeching coming from your mom and her friends, “I might go and lie down for a bit.”
“Alright,” He leans over and presses a kiss to your cheek, “You just shout if y’need anything, alright?”
You lie on your bed upstairs for two hours. Somewhere around the first hour you can hear your mom bidding her friends goodnight and then the hushed talk she has with your father. Once the sun has set and the sky is dark you hear them go to bed, and not ten minutes later the soft snores of your father start drifting through your wall.
You’re too worked up to sleep. What you should do is reach into your drawer, pull out your vibrator and get yourself off, drift off to sleep and let it lie. Without thinking about the consequences though, you’re standing from your bed and opening your bedroom door as quietly as you can. You close it behind you and when there isn’t a lull in the sound of your parents snoring you know you’re in the clear. You pad down the stairs and slip on your sandals at the door, slipping out once you’ve grabbed one of your dad’s ties from the washing basket.
You’re halfway down the street when you really think about what you’re doing. Turning up to his house unannounced with a big plan and no real idea on how to execute it properly. What if he was already in bed? Or what if he’d decided to stay in town with Tommy and have a drink? Thankfully as you get closer to his house you notice his truck is in the driveway. A few steps later you see the light in the bottom window, meaning he’s still up and about.
You knock gently at the door, listening as you can hear shuffling behind it before he pulls it open. He looks you up and down with a smirk on his face, fingers hooked into the top of his jeans like he always stands.
“Well, ain’t this a nice surprise?”
“You started something you didn’t finish,” You breathe, stepping close enough to him to press your body against his own, “I want you to finish it,” You demand, “Right now.”
“That so?”
You step back just enough to reach your hands to his shoulders, pushing him back inside his home. You’re half-aware of him slamming the door shut behind you, but then his hands are snaking around your waist and your back is pressed against the wall as his lips finally crash to yours. It’s messy, all teeth and tongue, but you’re not complaining. You’d been dreaming of him kissing you all evening.
“How am I meant to finish it then, sweetheart?” He asks, breathing against your lips before joining them together again.
“Bedroom,” You gasp out the next time he pulls away from you, “Take me to bed, Joel.”
He wastes no time in grasping at your wrist and pulling you up the stairs and into his room. It is so quintessentially Joel. Bed unmade, overflowing washing basket in the corner. Chest of drawers which wouldn’t close because each drawer was stuffed so full of clothes and other things they were overflowing.
You turn to him, he’s leant in the doorway, cool as a cat, which infuriates you because you are so incredibly turned on. Your chest is heaving with every breath you take, skin flushed hot, “Take off your clothes.” You insist.
“Take off my clothes?”
“Did I stutter?” You raise an eyebrow and his face drops when he knows you mean business.
He’s slow about it. He drags his t-shirt over his head as he walks towards his bed, discarding it to the floor as you turn on the spot to follow him with your eyes. Then he’s looking straight at you as he undoes his belt with one hand, pulling it through the belt loops to fall to the floor as well. He unbuttons and unzips his jeans, pulling them down excruciatingly slowly. Then he stands and waits.
“All of it, Joel.” You motion to his boxers with the clear bulge of his cock visible through them.
“As you wish, ma’am.” And they too are discarded, leaving him completely naked to your complete state of dress.
“On the bed.”
You wonder if he can tell what might be about to happen because he lies down on the bed, head propped against the pillow. You’re quick to take your place at the foot of the bed, crawling up his body to straddle his hips. You can feel his cock nudging against the cotton of your underwear as you fall into him and kiss him. He opens his mouth against yours and it’s at this moment that you pull the tie from inside your bra into one hand. His eyes are closed, and he has no idea what’s about to happen. You drop the tie on the pillow next to him, using one hand to wrap around one his wrists, pulling it to rest above his head. You put all your weight on this hand, using your other to pull his other wrist above his head also.
He's too busy tangling his tongue with yours and bucking his hips into your clothed pussy to notice you reaching for the tie on the pillow. In fact, it’s not until you’re pulling yourself away from him and wrapping the silk of the tie around his wrists and knotting it to the headboard that he starts to question what you’re doing.
“What- fuck baby, what’re you doing?” His voice is wavering as he tugs his wrists.
“Making you pay.” You shrug, simply.
“Whatever did I do to deserve this?” He asks, watching intently as you start moving down his body with trails of your tongue, stopping occasionally, to press hot kisses to his skin.
“You already forget your teasing from earlier?” You mumble against his skin.
“Thought you liked it.” He whimpers as your lips are peppering kisses along his pubic bone, ignoring the throbbing of his cock.
“I did,” You admit, “Until you left me high and dry.”
“That wasn’t my fault,” He insists, breathing laboured, “If Tommy wasn’t so insistent, I’d have stayed and fucked you in that garden.”
You hum against his skin, trailing kisses down his thighs, dragging your fingernails after your mouth. You revel in the sounds of his deep breathing and the gasps he’s letting out.
“I don’t think this is very fair, sweetheart.” Joel’s strained voice comes from above you, causing you to take a break from pressing wet, open-mouthed kisses along his thighs.
“You weren’t complaining about teasing when you were in charge, Mr Miller.”
You hear a groan of frustration because he knows it’s true. He knows he pushed his luck earlier and he knows this is one battle he’s not going to win. He relents his incessant pulling at the tie that’s got him trapped to the headboard, not quite sure how you’re so practiced at tying men up so they can’t move, but he files that away to ask about later. Now he just focuses on you and your lips. The lips that he so wishes would just move a little to the right and envelop his cock in one go. He’s sure the relief from your teasing would be enough to having him come down your throat in minutes.
If you were a better woman, you’d have been able to keep this up for hours, but there’s an ache between your legs that is crying out to you to bury yourself on his cock. You can tell from the way he’s jutting his hips up to meet your lips wherever you kiss him that’s telling you he’s struggling too. You’ve proven your point, now it’s time to have fun.
“What do you want Joel?” You ask, looking up at him from your place between his thighs.
His eyes are begging you, “Sweetheart,” He huffs, “I need your mouth on me.”
He’s waited long enough. You grip the base of his cock in your hand, running your tongue along the underside before your lips wrap around the tip. The moan that drops from his mouth is indecent, and it only gets better when you start bobbing your head up and down his length.
“Untie me baby,” He begs as you feel his cock hit the back of your throat, “I wanna put my hands on you.”
You pull your mouth off him, using your hand to jerk him off, running strands of saliva up and down his length, “I don’t think so, you got more than enough earlier.”
He throws his head back and groans as you put your mouth back on him, taking him as far down your throat as possible, using your hand to pump the rest of his length that you couldn’t. His groans spur you on until he bucks his hips up as your mouth is running down his length, causing you to gag, tears forming in your eyes.
“Shit… shit baby,” He curses and then mumbles that he’s sorry, “I ain’t gonna last much longer, let me fuck you.”
Your pussy is practically begging for him to be inside of you, clenching around nothing at all with every drag of your mouth and swirl of your tongue around him, so he doesn’t have to tell you twice. You push yourself back on your knees, pulling your dress over your head and your underwear down your legs.
“Condoms?” You asked, his head motions to the bedside table.
You lean over him and pull one out, ripping the package open with your teeth before you’re rolling it down his length and straddling his hips, your tight cunt hovering inches above him. One last attempt at teasing him. He’s lined up just right with your entrance that when he bucks his hips, the head of his cock is nudging through your slick and into you and you’ve lost the game.
You sink yourself down onto him, throwing your head back in pleasure as your roll your hips and grind onto him. You open your eyes and the picture below you is a sight to behold. Joel, with his hands tied to his headboard by your dad’s striped, blue work tie, mouth agape with your name tumbling from his lips. He’s got a sheen of sweat across his beautifully tanned skin, beads of it pooling at his temples and dropping down onto the pillowcase below. He is completely at your mercy, and you think that if you tried hard enough, stared at him for long enough, that just this sight alone could make you come.
“Baby c’mon, untie me.” Joel begs once again.
You shake your head, instead leaning back, one hand gripping his knee behind you to steady yourself, the other snaking down your body to rest on your pussy. You dip your fingers down low enough to gather slick from where Joel’s cock is splitting you open, dragging your fingers up to circle your clit. You’re so sensitive from the teasing and the wanting that you know you’re finished before you really even start.
“God damn,” Joel moans beneath you, “So fuckin’ tight for me, that’s it, play with your pretty pussy for me,” Even when he’s tied up, he’s a menace, “Can feel you clenching me baby, you gonna come?” You nod your head but continue bouncing on his cock whilst your fingers bring you to the edge, “Touched yourself for less than a minute and you’re gonna come all over my cock, ain’t ya?”
“Fuck Joel, it’s just too good.”
“I know baby, I know,” He’s coaxing you, bringing his hips up to meet you on your way down, hitting that delicious spot inside you that he knows will make you come undone, “Give it to me, darlin’.”
It’s all you need. You hand is dropping from your pussy, palms of your hands hitting his chest as you convulse around his cock, crying his name out into the depths of his bedroom. He doesn’t let up his thrusts though, pounding into you from below, chasing his own high which soon follows.
You can feel the throbbing of his cock inside you, wishing that you could feel him painting your slick walls with his seed. Soon, you think, but not yet.
You’re face down on his chest when he mumbles from above you, “Think you can untie me now?”
You chuckle, pushing yourself off his chest to untie the knot. It comes apart easily and you think that if he had really wanted to, he could have pulled his hands apart and freed himself. He’s taking the tie from your hands.
“Where the hell’d you even get this?” He asks as you collapse onto the bed next to him.
“It’s my dad’s.” You smirk, turning to him, his eyes wide, dropping the tie to the floor like it had burnt him.
“M’never gonna be able to look at that man the same way.” He mumbles, turning onto his side, propping himself up on one arm, whilst using the other to rub soft circles on the skin of your tummy.
“Had to teach you a lesson somehow,” You grin at him, “Bet you won’t tease me again.”
“Oh sugar, if you’re gonna tie me up and ride me like that every time, you bet your bottom dollar I absolutely will.”
Being Sanemi’s Tsugoku
Other pillar versions (coming soon?)
A/N: it’s been a hot mother fucking minute since I’ve posted Sanemi. With Demon Slayer Sundays just a week away it’s only right that I return to my roots of posting some demon slayer content
Pink text is You — Green text is Sanemi
(Cosmo and Wanda think they slick—)
Tumblr media
You couldn’t lie, you were initially petrified when Kagaya appointed you as Sanemi’s tsugoku
It was typical for the Hashira themselves to pick someone, usually someone they knew and trusted. Someone they could put their full faith in to fulfill their duties if it just so happen the current pillar was to lose the fight
That wasn’t the case for you. Kagaya himself appointed you for your outstanding performance and understanding of wind breathing
Needless to say, Sanemi wasn’t thrilled
“Just keep your mouth shut and maybe I won’t kill you.”
You could feel your brow twitch, you didn’t let anyone talk to you in such a tone. Wind pillar or not, you’d sooner die than be walked all over.
“Watch your tone and maybe I won’t beat your ass.”
Thus began Sanemi’s never ending torture. Torture he had to tolerate solely because Kagaya appointed you.
Hell it was likely a test at this point, put some sort of humanity in him so he wouldn’t get himself killed.
Sanemi’s training was nothing short of su!cidal, honestly by the end of the first day you were convinced he was trying to k!ll you
It consisted of training from sunrise until sunset followed by accompanying him on his patrolling. It would be a full twenty four hours until you saw your bed again.
“No wonder you look so psychotic, you don’t fucking sleep.”
He, of course, didn’t answer you. It seems he had taken his own advice to heart and decided keeping his mouth shut would save him the headache.
This intense regimen would continue for a full month, only half a day break in between so you could get some sleep.
You’d quickly learn his goal was to break you. Get you to leave the corps with your head hung low.
“Ya know, it’s kinda odd you’re so determined to get me to leave. It’s almost as if you care about me.”
“Don’t flatter yourself. The corps is no place for weaklings, nothing more than demon bait at this point.”
“Ain’t that what you’d want then? People to lure the demons to you. Makes it easier than hunting them, pretending to be the prey I mean.”
Sanemi ended that conversation with a simple glare, something in his eyes that you’d never seen before. For once you let him drop it, not willing to uncover the man’s traumas against his will.
Sanemi’s behavior towards you mellowed slightly after three months of you being his tsugoku. You simply weren’t going anywhere any time soon so he didn’t think the hard ass attitude was quite necessary.
That’s not to say he started taking it easy on you… not by a long shot actually. If anything his schedule for you only got more intense. But it was different.
You could tell he was training you with the intent of keeping you alive, not scaring you out of the corps.
“I think we’ll be friends soon.” You laughed softly as you ate your lunch, sanemi was sitting a few feet away under the shade of a tree. “I don’t make friends.” It was gruff, food getting shoved into his mouth a moment later. “Okay tough guy, you’ll realize soon enough.” All you got was a nose scrunch in return.
The thing is, you were right. Sanemi should have known it would be impossible, even for him, to spend nearly every waking moment with someone and not enjoy their presence.
Around the six month mark of being his tsugoku, you found it easier to hold a conversation with him. Especially since he’d actually entertain it. Hell you’d even crack jokes with one another. It was safe to say he tolerated you now.
And not out of obligation
“I want you to leave the corps. I’m telling Master that you aren’t up to my satisfaction.” You froze, head whipping around to see if he was joking. The look on his face told you he wasn’t. “Aren’t we past this bull shit, Shinazugawa?”
Truth was, he’d gotten attached to you in some odd way. It fucking terrified him.
“You’ll do as I say, as your overseer. You have to obey my wishes.” You couldn’t quite understand why his attitude had switched, as if six months of work had suddenly never happened. “Bull shit. What the fuck happened?” He only shook his head, not able to maintain eye contact. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
It wasn’t long before it turned into a full blow yelling match.
“I’ll tell Master you’re full of shit. Chances are he’ll fucking believe me, Shinazugawa.” For the first time, he was losing a battle in more ways than one. “Oh fuck off.” Was all he could muster, brain moving a mile a minute as he tried to figure out a better way to reason with you.
What had you done to him? He wanted to reason with you? That thought terrified him even worse.
In the end, all of his logic flew out the window as he uttered the very words he didn’t want to say out loud. Not because he didn’t mean them, but because he didn’t want to make things worse. He was already struggling with these new emotions, never mind making them known to you.
“I care about you a little too much to let you throw your life away in this hellish profession.”
That got you to freeze, eyes wide as you tried to gauge what exactly he meant by that statement. Silence hung between the two of you, you weren’t sure how long you both stood there in the back yard of his estate. But by the time you had gotten the courage to even make a noise, he was turning his back to you.
“Woah hold the fuck on! Don’t run away from me after saying something like that? Hell, Shinazugawa you never run from anything never mind me!”
For a moment he really wished some divine force would come down and kill him on the spot.
Yet, he steadied himself, realizing that you were right. He’d never run away from a fight, never mind being a coward with his own feelings. So he stopped, turning around to stop you in your tracks.
“I fucking care about you, what’s there to not understand?”
“That’s not where I’m confused you moron.”
He knew what you were implying, he knew what you wanted to hear and yet he found himself struggling. Being a Hashira gave him no right to admit he had feelings for you. It would only be cruel to you, especially since you were to be his successor.
“Shina—no—Sanemi. Explain yourself.”
That was his breaking point, eyes shutting as he exhaled slowly. Hearing his first name fall from your lips, this wasn’t exactly the situation he wanted to hear it for the first time. Yet it was enough to give him courage.
“I care about you, more than a friend, more than a tsugoku. There, happy?”
The shit eating grin that crept up your face was more than enough to show him that you were.
“See… I was right. I told you we’d become friends.”
“I just said I liked you more than a friend.”
“Fair enough, I guess it’s safe to say I underestimated you, master.”
“I’m still making you leave the corps.”
“Maybe if you offer me your hand in marriage I’ll consider it.”
He was starting to question why he even grew to like you in the first place. Though, the smile on your face had him mentally reminding himself to thank Kagaya for giving you to him.
ODD ONE OUT — .5
gosling!ken x barbie!reader
Tumblr media
summary | You and Allan need to have a talk. Ken brings you your first flower.
part one , part two , part three , part four , part five
. . .
“WE need to talk,” Came the simple demand from your best friend, Allan, after he had stormed into your book shop one afternoon.
You looked up at him curiously before hesitantly closing over the novel in your hands, slipping it under the register like you always did whenever someone came into the shop to bother you for something—most cases being for a book, of course.
“Yes?” You answered with a raise of your brow, clasping your fingers together patiently as you waited for Allan to explain.
He huffed dramatically before crossing his arms, practically glaring down at you. “You need to stop hanging around Ken,” He stated.
You almost choked on air at the sudden request. “I’m sorry; what?” You managed to respond after getting over your original shock.
“Barbie…” Allen began with a sympathetic glint in his eye. “You’re only gonna end up getting hurt if you keep up this friendship with him,” He explained, confusing you further.
“Allan, I have absolutely no idea what you’re trying to tell me here,” You spoke dryly, not being very amused by his initial proposal of dropping one of your good friends.
Your friend rose a palm to his head, dragging it down his face tiredly at your ignorance to what was obvious to himself. “You’re in love with him!” He exclaimed. “You’re hopelessly in love with him and he can’t return those feelings because he’s hopelessly in love with his own Barbie!”
In all honesty, you hadn’t expected that outburst at all. You felt your face burst into a bright red at the sudden confrontation of your otherwise ignored feelings for Ken along with some hurt that trickled its way into your chest over the honest brutality of Allan’s words.
“Not cool,” You spat, pushing yourself up from the chair behind the register to face your friend with a fiery scowl.
“Barbie, I had to be realistic with you,” Allan looked at you desperately. “I’ve watched you the last few months get progressively more upset over this Ken and I just cannot stand it anymore. As your best friend and your brother from another mother, I’m telling you to leave this friendship behind.”
You stared at Allan blankly for a few moments before furiously shaking your head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Al,” You scoffed. “I’m perfectly okay—and I’m not in love with him.”
“I’m your best friend, not blind,” He remarked with a roll of his eye. “If what you feel for him isn’t love, then I clearly hate volleyball.”
You tried to hold in the giggle at his remark, wanting to stay mad at Allan for being so blunt with you—and frankly, for hurting your feelings.
“Please leave my shop, Allan. I don’t want to have this conversation,” You mumbled as you disappeared behind one of your many bookshelves, desperately trying to hide from the situation.
Of course, however, your best friend was quite determined to make his point as he followed you in through the maze of shelves. “I’m serious, Barbie!” He hissed, crossing his arms across his chest with a fiery look on his face. “It’s killing me; seeing you hurt yourself over caring for this guy.”
You grind your teeth in your mouth, taking a deep breath through your nose before slowly turning to face Allan once again. “And I’m serious—I would like you to drop this conversation,” You spoke firmly. “Regardless of what you think about the situation, at the end of the day Ken is my friend and I won’t be dropping him—”
The ringing of the bell over the front door stopped your conversation in its tracks, forcing you to speedily walk back behind the register to tend to whatever customer had just walked in.
“Oh! Ken!” You looked at him in surprise. Of course he would have perfect timing. “What can I do for you?” You asked through grated teeth, desperately trying to give Allan a look to tell him to get out after he had appeared from behind the shelves you had just left behind.
“Just the usual, please. What book do you have for me this week?” Ken asked excitedly as he put last week’s book on the counter to return. “And I have this…” He sent you a charming grin before revealing the hand he had hidden behind his back, holding a tall and healthy sunflower out for you to take.
You gasped, your eyes taking in the ring of bright yellow petals. “Ken! What—?”
“I seen it in the flower shop and I thought of you… Sunflowers just fit your vibe,” He explained sheepishly as you took the stem into your own hands, the tips of his ears turning a bright red.
“I… I don’t even know what to say, Ken… It’s beautiful,” You looked up at him radiantly, your whole face lifted up with the smile tugging at your lips. “Thank you.”
Behind Ken, you hadn’t noticed the disappointed Allan as he trudged his way out of the shop to leave you both be—his whole argument was already forgotten in your mind, so what was the point?
. . .
“KEN?” You questioned from behind your front door, tiredly rubbing your heavy eyes after answering the knock of the door in your pyjamas. “What are you doing here so late?”
“I had to talk to you about this book, Barbie! It’s so fascinating… I couldn’t go to sleep without talking to someone about it, and backflip Ken told me to buzz off, and I usually talk to him about the books I read, but—”
“Okay. Pause,” You cut his rambling off by raising a hand up to his face, letting out a quiet yawn. “You do realise how late it is, right?”
Ken’s face suddenly dropped. “Shoot… Is it really that late?” He asked worriedly. “I hadn’t noticed… I was reading.”
You couldn’t help the smile that grew across your mouth, admiring that he had picked up a habit you yourself had as a reader. “Yes, it’s quite late,” You nodded before noticing that Ken was ready to suggest he should leave. “Come inside,” You quickly cut in, stepping aside for your friend to enter you house.
Ken took a moment to look surprised before making his way into your dream house, looking around curiously—he hadn’t actually been inside before. He quietly admired the fairy lights that lined your walls along with the aesthetically messy assortment of book and film posters. “Wow, it’s so…”
You couldn’t help the cringe that grew on your face, scrunching your shoulders after realising that you had just invited him into your cluttered home. “Messy, I know—”
“What? No. I was gonna say it’s so you,” He shook his head approaching your wall to take a closer look at one of your movie posters. “It’s so awesome.” There was a moment of silence. “I’ve never been inside a dream house…”
You felt quite horrified at this statement—he’d never been inside a house before. “Oh…” You replied stupidly, not being entirely sure what to say in response to that bomb of information. “Well, uh… let yourself get comfortable. Want a drink?” You asked awkwardly, pulling on the hem of your fluffy white pyjama sleeve.
Ken cleared his throat before nodding. “Yes please—just a drink of water.”
You quickly ran to your kitchen, grabbing one of your pink cups before “filling it” with water and handing it back to your friend who gratefully took a “sip”.
“So… Has Barbie really never invited you into her house?” You asked curiously, sitting beside Ken on your sofa.
He shook his head solemnly. “No, she’s always busy when I ask to visit,” He shrugged.
You nodded hesitantly, knowing that was probably a lie being a friend of Barbie’s and all. By all means, Barbie didn’t owe Ken any right into her home if she didn’t want him, but you had assumed that they were friendly enough for visits… Maybe their relationship was purely reliant on Ken’s pining?
“Right,” You nodded. “Well, you can always come visit me at my dream house,” You shrugged, leaning back on the soft cushions on your sofa. “I enjoy the company.”
Ken’s cheeks flushed a soft pink at the invite, not being entirely sure what to do with it but feeling elated nonetheless. “Sick,” He brushed off coolly, crossing his arms over his chest as he also sat back against your sofa to get comfortable.
“Well then, what did you want to talk about with the book?” You eventually asked, referring back to the whole reason he had arrived at your doorstep in the middle of the night.
. . .
RAYS of light refracted through the glass and around the room, annoyingly shining right onto your eyes and waking you up. You stretched your arms and gracefully rose from your place of rest, which you quickly noted was your sofa, and remembered that you had a guest over.
You glanced over to your side where Ken was curled up into a comfortable ball on the other side of the sofa, making you chuckle quietly before reaching over to gently shake him awake.
“Huh…?” He mumbled, still half asleep, before shooting up and frantically looking around. “I fell asleep! Oh gosh, Barbie, I’m so sorry! That was a mistake,” He rushed, jumping up off of the sofa and making you flinch from the sudden movement.
You furrowed your brows. “You’re fine, Ken. Allan stays over all the time,” You explained.
Ken shook his head. “No, no… Staying over is for boyfriend-girlfriend, and I’m stabbing Allan in the back by doing this because we’re not boyfriend-girlfriend!” He shrieked dramatically, pacing around your living room.
You ignored the pang in your chest over his words and decided to focus on the middle part of his outburst, shaking your head with a chuckle. “Do you think Allan and I are boyfriend and girlfriend?” You hid your grin behind your hand. “Because we’re not, and it’s normal for friends to have sleepovers. You do it with the other Ken’s all the time, right?”
“That’s not the same. We all live on beach together,” Ken stared at you flatly, raising an amused brow as he looked down at you with his hands resting on his hips.
You rolled your eyes before pushing yourself up off of the sofa. “Regardless, it’s normal for friends to sleep over,” You continued, walking past Ken. “Do you want some cereal? I can’t cook you eggs or anything because I need to buy more food from grocer Barbie…” You mumbled to yourself.
Ken shook his head, looking awkwardly tense as he continued to stand in the middle of the room. Clearly, you weren’t going to be able to sway him on the whole “sleepovers are normal” topic.
“I guess I should go,” He scratched his neck.
You sighed, nodding your head understandingly before leading the blond man to your front door. “You’re welcome here anytime, Ken,” You pursed your lips up at him as he stopped in your doorframe, looking down at you thoughtfully before pulling you in for a quick hug.
“Thank’s for having me over, Barbie!” He thanked you cheerfully, already gone back to his normal self—it was bizarre how quickly he had switched from being frantic to merry.
You waved your friend off as he strolled down the street and out of sight, spotting one of your neighbours, doctor Barbie, giving you an odd look. “Hi Barbie!” You sent her a wave, gritting your teeth together for as genuine of a smile you could muster. This was slightly awkward—she had caught Ken leaving your house.
She sent you back a rather confused greeting before getting into her own car and driving off, leaving you behind as you let out a sigh of relief and walked back into your home.
Why me! 2
Word count: 1317
AemondxReader
Tumblr media
Aemond has been watching you from afar since the day he told you he would kill you and your babe so you’ve stayed away from him since then.
“Are you going to talk to him?” Rhaenyra asks you.
“How can I talk to him when he told me he would kill me and our babe if the babe didn’t look like him all because he thinks your son Jacerys is the father so you tell me how could I ever look at him the same.” (Y/N) tells Rhaenyra.
“(Y/N) I know what he said to you but he does love you” Rhaenyra tells you.
“He told me that I let your bastard son touch me and of my babe looks like your bastard son he will kill us both that’s truly what he said to me so don’t fucking tell me that he loves me because he doesn’t love or care about me anymore” (Y/N) tells Rhaenyra and walks away from her and everyone else.
“(Y/N)” A voice calls out the voice of the one man she truly trusts.
“Elmo, is that really you?” (Y/N) asks as she holds him tight in a hug.
“How I’ve missed you so I miss seeing you run around Riverrun with Kermit” Elmo tells you as he lets you go.
Elmo Tully is like a second father to (Y/N) when her father died fighting in the StepStones with Prince Daemon, (Y/N) was thankful to Prince Daemon he had brought her fathers body back and paid mother some coin to help with everything.
“I want to go home Elmo” (Y/N) whispers out as she cries in his arms.
“I wish I could take you back home (Y/N) but I don’t want your mother and brothers to be in any danger” Elmo tells you.
“I do not want my child to know his or her father hates them so please if I die on my birthing bed take my child and never let Aemond near him or her” (Y/N) tells Elmo.
“I will do everything I can for you and your baby (Y/N)” Elmo tells you.
Aemond stood behind the wall of the secret passageway as he listened to your conversation.
“When Aemond told me he would kill me and the babe I thought about jumping from Maegor’s tower so we wouldn’t feel unwanted and unloved.” (Y/N) says as tears fall down her face.
Aemond listens to your cries and feels his heart break as you say you wanted to end your life because of what he said.
“(Y/N) it’s okay you can write to me and your mother any time and if you need me I will come.” Elmo tells you.
“I just want to tell the King that Jacerys is the father of my baby and let me and Aemond go away from each other.” (Y/N) tells Elmo.
“(Y/N) no you can not do that the King will punish you if he feels like you abandoned your vowels to Aemond” Elmo tells you.
“I know I just don’t know what to do.” (Y/N) tells him.
Three days later
“I have decided that my daughter and heir Rhaenyra Targaryen will be crowned Queen in a fortnight the ravens have been sent and all Lords and Lady’s shall be in attendance to celebrate their new Queen” Viserys announces to the masses and to his council members some shocked at the news.
“Your Grace, are you sure you don’t want to name your first son Aegon King?” Otto asks Viserys.
“Otto enough of this my daughter will be Queen and that’s final!” Viserys yells out making sure everyone understands.
5 months later
(Y/N) lay in her birthing bed as Maester Mellos tells the midwives to get some water and cloth as you begin to push.
“Princess get ready to push” Maester Mellos tells you as you let out a scream and push.
“One more push Princess” Maester Mellos tells you as you push one more time and stop when you hear a loud cry.
“A boy Princess” Mellos tells you as he shows you your son and gives him to the midwife to clean him up.
“Princess I need you to push one more time” Maester Mellos tells you as you push once again and hear another cry.
“Another boy Princess” Mellos tells you.
“Twins oh my Layla will you get Queen Rhaenyra.” (Y/N) asks her handmaiden.
“Twin boys Aemond” Alicent tells Aemond.
“Yes mother I’ve heard I’ll visit when I’m done training” Aemond tells Alicent as he leaves her alone standing there.
“Should I call you Queen Rhaenyra now” (Y/N) asks Rhaenyra.
“No you don’t have to call me Queen Rhaenyra (Y/N) your my good sister and oh your boys are beautiful (Y/N)” Rhaenyra tells you.
(Y/N) looks at her sons and sees both have white hair and not a single brown hair in sight (Y/N) lets out a little laugh.
“I don’t want him anywhere near my sons” (Y/N) tells everyone in the room as Alicent walks in.
“My dear girl, how are you feeling?” Alicent asks you.
“I’m fine Alicent where is my husband at?” (Y/N) asks Alicent.
“He went to the training yard for a-“ Alicent starts to tell you.
“Yes of course he did let him know he is not allowed in my room and he will not be allowed to see my sons” (Y/N) tells Alicent.
Three days later
(Y/N) holds little Aragon as Aeneys lays still in his bed but a soft knock wakes him (Y/N) puts Aragon down and picks up Aeneys and opens to see Aemond along with Jacerys.
“What are you doing here Aemond?” (Y/N) asks him angrily as Layla waits for you outside.
“Layla come in and take the boys please?” (Y/N) asks Layla.
“I’ve come here to apologize to you and Jacerys and see my sons.” Aemond tells you.
“No they are my sons not yours!” (Y/N) yells at Aemond and tries to close the door on him.
“(Y/N) stop I’m sorry I’m trying to make everything right and make it up to you.” Aemond tells you.
“No you don’t deserve to meet my sons” (Y/N) tells him.
“(Y/N) I’m going to see them so please move?” Aemond asks you.
“No, they are my sons, remember their bastards to you so leave me and my sons alone Aemond.” (Y/N) tells Aemond.
“(Y/N) let me see them now” Aemond says as he pushes the door open and makes way over to the boys.
“No stay away from my sons” (Y/N) says as she pushes Aemond away from the twins.
“(Y/N) enough!” Aemond yells as he pushes you to the floor.
“You will never put your hands on me again. If you do it will be the last time you have hands. Do you understand me?” (Y/N) tells Aemond as she gets up off the floor.
Aemond looks at you shocked as he holds his left cheek.
“You can see Aragon and Aeneys when I feel like you are ready to be their father” (Y/N) tells Aemond.
“You named them with me?” Aemond asks you.
“Yes I named my sons because their father wasn’t there for them when they were born” (Y/N) tells Aemond.
“(Y/N) I’m sorry that I hurt you and I’m sorry about what I said about you and the boys and Jacerys. I'm sorry for what I said about you and my wife and sons” Aemond says to you and Jacerys.
“I appreciate your apology, Aemond but I have not forgiven you yet.” (Y/N) says to Aemond.
“Thank you for apologizing uncle and I’m sorry about all the pain me and Lucerys caused you.” Jacerys apologizes to Aemond.
You exhale slowly as you check your reflection one last time in the huge mirror in your room. Doing a little spin, and another so you get to see every angle of the wonderful dress your father got you for your birthday party, you can’t help but feel nervous.
The dress is beautiful, in every fabric and color that you love. It’s perfect, in every detail, from the laces to the sparkles. It’s everything that you like. Your makeup is perfect for the night, your hair is down : your servants really did an amazing job, you're so thankful. Everything is perfect, and so will be this night. The princess’ birthday party is always the best. But that will also be the last one happening here for you, in the palace you spent your whole life.
You’re getting married later this year and maybe that’s because you will enter a new world, a new home and family that you felt more like crying than laughing for the moment. Even if there’s no need to worry about this right now,  you can’t help  it. It will be your last birthday here, you had to make it special. Softening the fabric below your hands, you brush the dress lightly while composing yourself one more time. It will be a wonderful night.
You checked your alliance one last time as you made your way to the reception room, ready to make your entrance. There’s already so much noise, you can hear so many voices and music is being played in the background. You glance to the side, bow your head to the knight guarding the place for everyone's safety before letting go of the breath you held until then. A pretty smile appeared on your lips, bigger than the one you force yourself to portray everyday and you take the corner to stand in front of the big stairs. Someone announced your presence and you started going down the stairs while smiling at the crowd under thunderous applause.
You received a thousand congratulations for your birthday and all your previous worries were long forgotten, vanished with the music and you lost track of time. Letting yet another man kiss your hand while congratulating you, you bow in appreciation before hugging his wife who is a close friend to your mother. You get once more involved in a rather boring conversation that you have to pretend to like before someone catches your eyes. Excusing yourself, you hurriedly walked through the crowd to the special someone you just noticed, a sincere smile on your face and sparkles in your eyes.
“Good evening, Sae.” you said happily, taking him off guard. You’re not buying it, him ? Here ? That’s a real surprise. “I’ve never seen you at any balls.” you added, to notify your own surprise.
He cleared his throat, not fully laying his eyes on you yet. “I’m not the most sociable.”
You chuckled at his words. Yes, you’re aware of that for sure. He frowned at you a little before offering you his hand anyway.
“But I couldn’t miss my fiancée’s birthday, could I ? Your dad would’ve been mad.”
“So would I, Mister. Are you even thinking about me ?” you teased before taking his hand in yours. Now, it was like everything was in place to spend the night you were hoping for.
“More than you think.” he whispered as he started to guide you through the crowd once again.
You two talked with so many people, drank so many drinks that you lost count of how many dances you did or how many partners you had between your friends, siblings and guests. All you could feel with the blessing sensation of being as light as a feather. The music takes you to another world, allowing you to be silly one last time, laughing around with your friends and siblings under the persistent yet loving eyes of your future husband. You played dumb when your eyes met and always sent him a huge smile, but you were just as observant as he was and knew exactly when to come to his rescue.
That’s how you stumble to him, playing a little more drunk than you actually were and take his hand even though he was caught up in a seemingly boring conversation.
“Dance with one with me, would you ? Can I steal him from you ?” speaking quickly to both of them, your eyes fell on the medals on the other man’s jacket before smiling to ease him. Military men are hard to deal with.
“I can’t decline anything the princess says, can I ? Especially tonight ; he’s all yours !” You smiled at him as a thank you and just like that, Sae was being dragged away on the dance floor, shaking his head in disbelief. Taking his hands in yours, you two waited for the new song to start and moved along with it when it did.
“You don’t have to thank me.” you teased again but he didn’t answer this time, knowing he didn’t have to. You were already too caught up in the dance, swinging around in this magical waltz as if this was your last night – which felt like it to you. You were getting married in three months, everything was already set and you wouldn't see your siblings or friends often anymore. It felt like the last time you would be able to enjoy yourself that freely and he knew it. That’s why he came, so you wouldn’t have only boring memories with him. To see you smile and have dances like those with you, hearing your laughter was all he asked for tonight.
But the music slowed down and soon, you got closer. He’s not making you spin anymore, you don’t try to make him spin when he doesn’t want to either, and your laughter calmed down. Only a satisfied, tipsy smile remained. Your footsteps synchronized together at a lower pace. Everything seems quiet suddenly, you could only hear your heartbeat and feel Sae’s hands on you. The music and people’s voices fade out, leaving you and Sae in a bubble. You chuckled at the safety filling your body. It was indeed a great night.
“Thank you for coming.” you said out of nowhere, not even looking at him but laying your head against his shoulder. Your heart racing in your rib cage, probably beating hard enough for him to hear it but you didn’t mind. You two will soon be even more intimate. He will feel your heartbeat more than once.
“Don’t thank me for that. Happy birthday, my dear.” he answered quietly, close to your ear before kissing your temple. A nervous laughter left your lips before you bite it down.
You never thought he would be like that, he seems like a distant man when deep down he can’t keep this facade up. Not that you mind. That’s why you fell for him.
I was only acting in the way everyone else had expected me to. Given the predicament I was in- a tawtute won the hearts of not one but both my parents, leading to a ritual in which the three of them were mated- I would say what I had currently just said to my newest sibling was up to par with what anyone else in the village believed I would say. Something hurtful about her extra digit, something about her looks, something about her size, how much of an inconvenience she was; and I’d said all of them. She was a shy thing and often spoke to Tsireya in a hushed voice, my sister had welcomed her and her mother in with open arms, but I was yet to be won over, but I was truly happy for my parents for having found their missing piece, I just wish she weren’t a tawtute, or that her daughter was unbelievably beautiful.
Her lips thin in an attempt to stop herself from crying but the fat tears in her eyes were a dead giveaway that what I had said had hurt her, and even though this was the last thing I wanted to do to the beauty that stood before me, I knew it was expected of me to hate her, so I acted like I did. My ears flicker and become downcast as I hear her sniffle, once more attempting to keep in her tears before they spilt on her cheeks, and she managed to look as beautiful as the day I first saw her.
Without another word she turns briskly and starts running in the direction she had come from, my heart hurts as I notice she picks up her hand to wipe what I assume are her tears, her sniffle causing my ears to perk up in an attempt to continue listening to her, I sigh. I want to chase after her and apologize but there were people watching.
_________
“Thats why I don’t talk to him, mama, I can’t keep-“ I stop as soon as the marui pod’s curtain was drawn back and Ronal -my stepmother- walks in, I don’t bother continuing the conversation and force myself to look away from her stare, one look and I’m sure I’d spill everything I’d just told my mom.
I make an effort to speak in English to my mom in order to prevent anyone from eavesdropping, but she had started teaching Ronal and Tonowari the language so they understand what the humans who drop supplies off say and they’re picking up on it very well. I’m starting to feel as though no one is on my side anymore.
“Ma’ite-“ She coos as she runs her thumb on my cheek gently, I only pout at her response, knowing she’d switched to Na’Vi so Ronal would understand clearly.
“What is wrong, you look bothered, are the village boys being mean to you again?” Ronal asks as she settles the newest addition to the family down, I only avoid my mothers gaze and watch as the baby starts crawling around curiously checking everything out before smiling widely and crawling faster toward where my mother and I stood. She worked quickly to make her way toward me and wobbly stood herself by using my thighs as support, she reached the length of my mid thigh in full height and she was only nine months old.
“Forget it.” I mumble before gently shifting Innui to support herself on my mother, making sure she was stable before walking out of the marui without sparing a glance toward the tsahik.
I don’t bother lifting my head off the knitted walkway as I’ve slipped on it and ended up with one foot through the hole one too many times, a bad habit I’d created as I walked on the beach, looking at the sand seep through my toes with every step I took, not bothering to check my surroundings. Although if I’m honest I would have thought that I wouldn’t be bothered since it was almost dinner time and a majority of people were starting to wash up to prepare food.
“Hey little freak, what are you doing out here alone?” My back stiffens and my head is immediately snapping up at the sound of his voice, a shiver runs through my body as I slowly turn my head and coming face to face with one of Ao’nungs lacky’s, the one I stupidly mistaken for Rotxo when I first met him, but he was so unoriginal I didn’t bother learning his name.
“I’m not a freak.” I responded while still keeping my back to him.
“I’m sure your fourth finger would beg to differ, you’re so weird, yet so interesting.” He stated clearly and I could feel my face growing hot at his words. He always has to find a way to torment me and I thought I’d escaped it until tomorrow but I was wrong. I could feel my body tensing in anger and I’d rather not blow up and give him another reason to hate me, so I turn around to finally face him.
“Four fingers or not-“ I lifted my hand to show him my fingers and wiggling them for added effect “-I am not weird.” I managed to get through without stuttering.
“With the way you act I’d think the reason you torment me is because you like me.” I roll my eyes as I cross my hands at my chest and notice his hairless brows furrowing, giving me an angered expression, he sneers and gets close to my face, causing me to back up.
“I would never like someone as worthless and useless as you. Get that through your thick tawtute head, you are undesirable and it is unclear how your vrrtep sa’nok managed to sneak her way into our clan leaders home.” He places a finger on my chest and pushes me rather harshly, causing me to fall on my bum.
“What is going on.” An angered voice spoke from behind me, the unmistakable sound of my step-brothers voice ringing through the air, I furrow my brows in confusion before turning to look at him, seeing the water droplets falling from his skin and hair, he must have gone for a swim before dinner.
“Your vrrtep tsmuke was mouthing off to me-“ He begins with his lies to justify why he’d pushed me but I scoff at his words before feeling Ao’nung reaching down to lift me up, I’d never felt his skin before and even though he’d just stepped out of the water it was warm.
“She is not a vrrtep, she is family, you do not go around pushing Tsireya like this, do you?” Ao’nung is quick with his words and doesn’t let his act of lifting me up deter his staring contest with Great Value Rotxo- Rotxo from wish? I try not to giggle at my thoughts.
“I am only treating her how you do. Is it only okay for you?” He asks with a slight snarl.
“Leave her alone.” He stated in an authoritative voice and my knees almost buck, he almost sounded like his father, I would be lying if I didn’t find my step father attractive, but I couldn’t bring myself to think of him that way.
Wish Rotxo shifts his eyes down to my blank expression, before they dart up above my head at what I could only assume was my step-brother, his face showing annoyance and anger before turning around and walking away without another word.
“Stop getting into trouble, you always need my help-“
“Are you fucking kidding me? I didn’t ask for your help, you just came up here flaunting your-“ I stop myself as he looks at me the way his mother stared at mine after yelling in English, understanding of the action but not the language. I roll my eyes and squeeze them shut before taking a calming breath, letting a sigh roll off my body as I pinched the bridge of my nose, and looking up at my step brother.
“I didn’t ask for your help.” I stated in Na’Vi “I had the situation under control.”
“That is what you call ‘under control’, getting harassed by a man and being pushed by the mere strength of his finger?” He scoffs as he crosses his arms.
“How is that any different than what you do? You hate me just as much as he does. I didn’t know you wanted to be the only one who tortures me.” I roll my eyes and deliver the same amount of sass back to him.
“I don’t hate you.” He stares directly through my soul as he says these words and a shiver runs up my spine.
“You only say the mean things you’ve said to me if you hate someone, so do not lie to me and pretend you don’t-“
“I do not hate you.” He moved closer in a matter of a millisecond, his face close enough to touch mine, but he’s being serious.
“Ao’nung, stop lying, you don’t treat Tsireya the way you treat me.” I huff and cross my arms once more.
“Thats because I’m not in love with her.” He stated matter-of-factly and I open my mouth to yell at him for how he’s treated me some more but the sudden confession hits me like a ton of bricks.
“You-“ I stare at him as he nods slightly “-Me?” I ask as I point to myself and see him nod once more.
“But I-“ I stop as I attempt to analyze the situation.
“-and you!” I use my hand to signal to him and stop from speaking once more, lowering myself to the sand as I attempt to process it, yet am unable to. I can see he’s also sunken down to squat near me, paying close attention to me.
“Why?” I finally ask. His hand reached out to tuck a piece of my hair behind my ear.
“Because of who you are.” He shrugs.
“You’re kind to everyone in my family even when I wasn’t kind to you. You’re quick to learn a lot of things especially when it came to helping our parents spend some tome together by taking care of Innui. You’re adorable when you hold my baby sister in your tiny hands, especially when you make that face.” He points at me as I listen to him.
“Oh I get it, this is a joke.” I slap his finger away with the back of my hand and start to laugh.
_________
Her head tilted back and the melodious sound of her laughter made me angry at first, but the angle at which she held her head was perfect in showcasing the tattoo on her neck, the design she’s carefully chosen after passing her iknimaya- even as a tawtute she managed to bond with a tsurak, making me hopeful in her ability to bond with a mate. And not just any mate, me.
Some feeling must have overtaken me as my fingertips dance around the flesh of her neck, following the tattoo down toward her collar bones where they stop, her laughter had died down as soon as I’d touched her and my ears perk up at the slightest gasp mixed with a moan, my eyes darken as she backs up quickly, my first instinct was to grasp her by her neck, scooting closer to her.
“What are you-“
“Shh,” I shush her as my other hand carefully slides down the length of her arm and allowing myself to divulge in the smooth feeling of her soft skin. I finally take her small hand in mind and gently bring it up to my lips, eyes staring at hers, and kissing her knuckles gently.
“I. Do. Not. Hate. You.” I enunciate my words while using my thumb to caress the tattoo on her neck.
“Okay,” she mutters breathily, seemingly in a daze.
“Do you believe me now?” I ask as I get close to her face and watch her dazed stare, I can feel her breath quicken and grow heavier, her mouth slightly agape.
“Please-“ she stops herself from speaking and y hand instinctively presses on her neck, urging the words to slip out of them.
“Tell me syulang, please what?”
“Kiss me,” her eyes only focus on mine as I lean in and touch my lips toward hers, her the softness of her mouth on my lips had me feeling as if Eywa had taken me up to live with her, my entire being felt complete with this little tawtute.
I push my knees on the sand below, letting go of her neck and allowing my hand to wanter up her delicate cheek, my other hand pulling her waist closer toward me.
She nips at my lower lip and I back off immediately, wondering if the reason for her doing that was because I’d somehow been too rough or hurt her in any way, just to see her smiling shyly instead. Reaching her hands out to grasp my face, pulling me closer and looking into my eyes before leaning in and kissing me again.
I run my fingers along the rest of her body just wanting to feel all of her, feeling how her skin raises under my fingers and prickling a bit, making an effort to run my hands against her back and feeling her wriggle in my grasp.
“Fuck,” The foreign word escapes her mouth, drunk off her scent I continue kissing down her neck where her tattoo sat and hearing her beautiful moans.
“Wait, ‘Nung-“ She gasps as I gently nip at the skin on her neck and shivers at the feeling.
“Do you want me to stop?” I ask in a serious tone.
“N-no,” She murmurs.
“Then why wait?” I ask as my arm snakes around her waist again.
“The water-“ She turns her head to point at the tide and I feel the heat rise up in my chest. Whenever we choose to mate we usually do so in the water, and the fact that she remembered that made me feel happy, this was definitely the woman I wanted to mate with.
“Come.” I stand and gently tug on her arm as I walk toward the water.
_________
My tewng was pushed to the side, his mouth was working on my pussy, his tongue swished along the side of my clit, his hands were playing with my nipples, and my back was up against the rock of the retaining wall. I was furiously bucking my hips and attempting to keep my moans to a minimum in case other Na’Vi were nearby.
I could see the cook fires in the distance but they didn’t matter when my pussy was being devoured skillfully by the man who tore up my feelings, now he’s just tearing me up, and I loved it. I squeeze my thighs around his head as his tongue slides against a particularly sensitive area pf my clit, making me his tongue continue to slide over that same area, my nipples are being squeezed and I can feel myself losing control.
“I’m coming, ‘Nung-“ I gasp as I let go, the explosive feeling making my hips buck on their own accord and the waves of the ocean lapping up over my already sensitive stiffened nipples added another sense of euphoria. His hands had abandoned them and taken place to hold my thighs close to him as I came down from my high until I went lax in his hold.
He pops his head out from under the water with a smirk on his face, his first breath in wasn’t even that deep and made my cheeks sting at his previous words before he’d sunken under.
“Let me show you just how long I can hold my breath,”
“Wipe that smirk off your face.” I roll my eyes tiredly, I was just happy I’d already given him a hand job and half a blowjob before he’d gone down on me.
“I’m good.” He doesn’t even bother making it sound like a question at this point.
“Practice makes perfect I guess.” I joke and he can tell my underlying comment meant I knew he’d done this with other girls before.
“Yet none have ever tasted as sweet as you, syulang.”
“Sure,” I mumble as I reach over to grab my top, expertly putting it on my body in a quick fashion.
“Are you upset with me?” He asks as he places a gentle hand on my arm.
“No you big doofus, we need to go to dinner before ur parents think we’re out murdering each other,” I laugh lightly and his smile returns.
“I like seeing your smile.” I mutter almost too quiet, but his ears flicker when I say that, his cheeks turning a purplish color.
“I like seeing you.” He smiles sheepishly, something I’d never see him do before.
“I see you,” I mutter.
“I see you as well.”
Is he alive?
Your back scratched against the wall as you slid down. Decades of memories had been unlocked, Images of places, faces, and events flashed in your mind. It was too many to comprehend in a single awakening.
You stare ahead, your parents had just burst through the doors. They were arguing again. You weren’t phased anymore, because only one thing mattered to you now. You wanted to know if he were alive.
You’ve gone through hell and back with all the lives you’ve lived. Every emotion you’ve felt in the past fiftteen lives ran throughout your body and had brought you closer to understanding of the world in a whole new way. You had tasted love, anger, and despair all in a few seconds.
ONE ✶ FOURTEENTH LIFE
You sang to yourself, your hands moved to the music as you stroked the brush against the canvas.
You weren’t bothered by anything. You were twelve and two years ago you were reminded that you were reincarnated once again. Luckily, you were wealthy in this life — You were at peace.
Until you weren’t. Your painting came crashing down to the ground, your eyes shifted to a boy who seemed to be younger than you.
“What’s your problem?” You shout. The boy turned around, glancing between you and your painting. “Shouldn’t you apologize after bumping into someone?”
“Who are you?” He says as he crossed his arms, he looks you up and down before stepping closer.
“You look like a kid. What grade are you in?” You look down, he was shorter than you.
“A kid?” He scoffed. You two stood in silence before a black car beeped from behind the nameless boy. He sends you one last glare before running off to the car.
“Kid!” You yell one last time before the car drove off. You scoff to yourself and turn back to your painting that was sitting on the ground. You pick it up and decide to go home.
Days went by. You walk alongside your mother as she held you close. You were finally meeting her friend who had been ill for sometime. She handed you beautiful handpicked flowers she prepared.
“She’s going to love them.” Your mother smiles, you both reach the door and were greeted by her friend, Sumin.
Your mother lets go of you as she stepped closer to Sumin and embraced her. You watched as the two share a moment together.
You’ve always wondered how people felt whenever they met a sick person. You’ve lived so many lives, yet you haven’t experienced this once.
You decided to walk around the beautiful home of your mothers’ friend as they sat down and chatted together. You hear them loud and clear while taking in every detail of Sumins’ home.
“The kids at her school call her Ms. Sato. She acts like an adult when she's still a kid.” You hear your mother toning down her voice.
“The problem with my son is that he’s too cold-hearted. I may have spoiled him too much.” Sumin pauses, “How did you raise her?”
“I think around two years ago, it was like she fully matured overnight.”
These conversations didn’t bother you. Your mother was right — you did change two years ago. You gained your memories two years ago.
You remember each night in detail of when you regained your memories. You started counting them.
It was a different feeling each time. Like someone had been stuffing down all your emotions and feelings you felt in the past hundreds of years into your body at once. You always wondered why you kept getting reincarnated — you wondered if there was heaven or hell because you certainly couldn’t get into either.
You didn’t want to eavesdrop any longer. You sneakily walked away. You stepped through the backdoor that led to a beautiful pool. You stood there as you notice a boy swimming peacefully underwater.
In my 14th life, I was getting bored of repeating life after life, until I met him.
The boy swam up noticing a shadow from above the water. He wiped his face and stared at you. You instantly recognize him — it was the boy who bumped into your painting.
This must be Sumin’s son. You could tell what she meant by he was cold hearted and spoiled. He never said sorry for knocking down your painting nor did he seem to care. He’s causally swimming like nothing happened.
You hesitated before speaking. “Was something down there?” You stepped closer to the pool as he swam closer to you.
You were always kind to people, even when it wasn’t deserved. You knew people took advantage of you, but you also knew that other people were struggling just like you. The world didn’t revolve around you. Your countless lives taught you that.
You lend your right hand as you kneeled closer to the boy. He grabbed your arm and pulled you into the pool with him.
The boy quickly jumped out as you sunk deep into the water. He watched as you struggled your way out of the pool.
“Have fun.” He announced with a smile before running off.
You couldn’t believe the nerve of this kid. What was he thinking? Was this his way of flirting or was he just a jerk?
You changed into new clothes that his mom lent you. Curiosity filled your body, you asked his mother where her son was.
“He’s in the library,” she told you before you smiled and walked off.
You made your way to their library, the smell of new and old books filled your nose as you walked through the area.
Although you were distracted, you couldn’t help but notice the nameless boy struggling to reach for a book.
“Do you need help?” Your hand rested on the book, and the boy’s eyes shifted to you as you stared back in amusement.
The boy let go of the book and shoved his hand into your shoulder. “Get away from me. I don’t need your help.”
“You’re too short to reach it, kid.” You stood there, you observed his facial expressions, he was clearly annoyed. “I’m not a kid.”
You quickly grab the book and throw it onto his head. “You did that on purpose!” He winced in pain as he held onto his head.
“What’s a better way of teaching a rude kid a lesson than to throw a book at their head?” You reply.
“What are you going to do if I start screaming?” The boy crossed his arms.
“Do it. I’ll make you disappear in two seconds.” You took a step closer to him, to let the weight of your words sink in.
“Are you a witch?” The boy steps back, picking up the book off the ground. The witch and her past lives.
You remained silent, the boy looks intently at your face. You have his attention. “No, I’m not a witch. But,” You paused.
“Do you believe in reincarnation?”
My name is Park Sunghoon. You remember when he first told you his name. It took him about 4 days before he officially did.
Your fingers danced on the piano. You played as Sunghoon sat beside you. You both were on the topic of reincarnation again. He would ask you silly questions about it.
You always answered even if it were a stupid question.
“My true age? You’ll never know.” You draw your lips into a thin line, and looked up to meet his gaze. Giggles filled the room as he realized he was defeated. “Right.”
You two surprisingly grew closer over time. You would come over to his house and hang out with him whenever you had time.
One day, while Sunghoon was reading the book that you had dropped on his head, he paused and asked you a question. “Will my mom remember me when she's reincarnated?”
You stared into his eyes for what seemed like an eternity, a river of thoughts passing through your mind. You didn’t know what to tell him.
“No.” You leaned your back against the bookshelf, as your arms naturally crossed as your eyes shifted to the beautifully detailed ceiling.
Sunghoon hummed while staring at you, the sadness in his eyes waning only a little as he took your answer in.
His mother was very sick, you both knew she was slowly passing. You had promised Sunghoon's mother you would take care of her beloved son when she passed, and that's what you planned.
“You know I’ll always stay by your side.” You tell him as your eyes remained on the ceiling.
“Do you,” Sunghoon hesitated for a moment, searching for the proper words to say, ”Do you like me?”
You chuckle at his words before leaning close to his ear, “I’ll answer on your birthday.”
You told him you would stay by his side yet you couldn’t keep your promise. You were reborn into your fifteenth life.
The wind blew through your hair, you peered out the taxi window as your hand rested on the glass. You were on your way to meet Sunghoon again, on the very same day you met him yet a couple of years later.
You needed to know whether he was alive or not.
The cab stopped in front of the house. You took a deep breath before stepping out, the pavement felt familiar. Everything seemed to be the same.
You watch the car you used to ride in with Sunghoon pass by, the image of you two smiling in the back seats flooded your mind.
”Happy birthday, Sunghoon!” you smile at him, pushing the present box forward. He grabbed the present, and you felt content, only to be smothered by his embrace. “Thanks, Sato.”
It was almost like it was yesterday, you two were heading to the amusement park for Sunghoon’s tenth birthday.
You remember watching the boy's smile fading as if he noticed the car approaching from the opposite side. The memories of his eyes widening and how you could feel his grip tighten like he was trying to stop something from happening constantly replayed in your head.
Thats how your fourteenth life ended.
Drops of water started to fall from the sky as if realizing your emotions. You could feel the tears start to fall too.
You stood in silence as the memories of the past flashed by. You remembered how he would hold your hand, never letting it go, even during his toughest and saddest times.
You were soaked in the persistent rhythm of the rain, and there seemed to be a rhythmic harmony between your thoughts and the sound of the rain.
You were only ten in this new body. Unrecognizable in the his world and honestly your own. You had to make a plan and grow up well.
You were determined to find a way into his world.
But would he still remember you?
TWO ✶ FIFTEENTH LIFE
Your name switched overnight.
Sato Maeji changed to Moon Y/N. That was your name in your fifteenth life.
You usually would live a low and quiet life, you’ve always tried to blend in. But, not this time. You wanted to stand out — you needed to. The world was slowly becoming a living nightmare outside, and you need to do something to stop it.
You were born into a lousy family in this life. Your father was a raging alcoholic and your brother wasn’t any better. Your mother left the day you regained your memories.
All the time spent to stand out wasn’t for no reason, you needed to survive and live well.
You turned twenty-three and you were already known in your company, you were talented and famous for being a child prodigy. You did that on purpose of course.
You became a pretty successful young woman.
Now all you needed to do is meet Park Sunghoon again. It was hard though, you realized how difficult it was for two people to meet especially when they came from completely different backgrounds.
You knew as soon as Sunghoon graduated from college he went abroad. You were waiting for him to come back, which meant ignoring all the job offers you got from other companies once they learned about how smart you were. You only wanted to work for him and his company.
“Ms. Moon.” You suddenly hear a voice coming from behind you. You turned around to be met by Yang Jungwon, the owner of a rival company against the Parks’.
You quickly turned your back and continued walking away. “Don’t you think it’s unprofessional to follow me out of my job?”
“You haven’t been returning my calls.” He tells you. He was now walking beside you with his hands shoved in his suit pockets. “Also, if I were to see you while you were at home might’ve felt like I was stalking you.”
“Mr. Yang, you already coming to see me when I’m outside of my office unannounced is something a stalker would do, you know.” You point out.
Jungwon clears his throat. “Have you thought about the offer I gave you?”
“No, I am fine with my job. I have no plans on moving to another company.”
“Come on, I'm a big fan of yours.” Jungwon pauses, “Not in that way but business-wise. You had everyone under your spell with your talents and Yang company is better than the Parks. You know that.”
“Yes, you’re right.” You say shifting your body towards him. “But he’s not at your company.”
“What do you mean?” Jungwon asks, quizzically tilting his head to the side.
What you wanted to say was, yeah he’s my last love and I want to meet him again so we could get married like we promised when we were kids. But, you didn’t say that.
it went more like, “There’s someone I want to meet.” And with that, you walked away from the man.
Jungwon at first thought you had a boyfriend at work, it would make sense at least. But, he brushed it off since it wasn’t his business anyway.
Distracted by you walking away, Jungwon gets a notification from Nishimura Riki. Did you hear? Jungwon raises his brow at this message and continues reading. Sunghoon is coming back to Korea!
You walked into the company’s lobby, greeting your co-workers and other guests. Suddenly you noticed that Jungwon had followed you here. Except it wasn’t to bother you. He went to talk to other higher business owners that seemed to be all gathering at the Parks’ Empire Lobby.
“The Park Empire Ice skating business is recruiting.” One employee says. “The chairman's son posted these vacancies.”
You froze. You turned to where the group of employees and business owners were gathered. You thought Sunghoon had moved abroad for good. Why was he going into the ice skating business?
Should you give it a shot? it would be a great idea to work for the chairman’s son. Or in better words, for your last love.
“You should avoid the ice skating business. It isn’t doing well.” Soobin says to you, he puts his hands on your shoulder as you walk up to the paper that states the information.
Finally. You have a chance to meet Sunghoon again.
THREE ✶ FIFTEENTH LIFE
Sunghoon was sleeping peacefully in bed, his blanket covering his whole body including his head. He was trying to avoid the sunlight at all costs.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Ding. Dong. Ding.
Na Jaemin was annoyed. He was ringing and knocking on Sunghoon’s apartment door for what felt like years with no response.
He needed Sunghoon out of bed, so his fingers naturally pressed the pin of his door to unlock it and made his way in.
Jaemin walked into Sunghoon’s room, noticing his lifeless body asleep. He internally groans at this sight before pulling the blanket off him.
“Get out of bed, Sunghoon,” He says as he earns a tug from the opposite end of the blanket. “Do you want to be late on your first day back?”
Sunghoon was fighting for his blanket back. “I told you to not let yourself in like this.” Jaemin lets go of the blanket and scoffs.
“I wouldn’t have to if you just opened the door.” Jaemin grabbed a pillow and hit his best friend and business partner. Sunghoon naturally shielded himself from the hits.
“How many times did I tell you to stop covering your head with the blanket? You can never hear me knocking.” Jaemin bickers.
“It’s not the blanket, it’s the jetlag.” Sunghoon bites back.
“Dude, you’ve been in Korea for over a week.”
Sunghoon ignores him and decides to wash up. He was tired, he didn’t want to work especially under his father's company. But at least he got to run something he loved. Ice skating.
“I told you we should just live together.” Sunghoon walks over to Jaemin while he roughly dries his hair with a towel. “It would be great for me and convenient for you, so win-win.”
“Really?” Jaemin replies. He was looking at documents of the skating empire. “I already have to see you every day at the office. Now you want me to babysit you at home?”
Sunghoon ignores him again, he sat down across from his friend and goes on his phone.
“Jungwon wants to throw you a welcome-back party.” Jaemin looks up at the boy, “he said you could choose the date.”
Jaemin could see that Sunghoon was visibly angry at what he said. “Why is he contacting you?”
“It must be because you never reply to him.”
“Well because I blocked him. You should block him too!” Sunghoon raises his tone while Jaemin seems to stay unbothered.
“You know I can’t do that, he’s the heir of the Yang Empire.” Jaemin continues to scan over the documents.
Sunghoon gets up from his seat in a fit. “I’ll make sure you don’t have to deal with the Yang Emipre, so block him!”
“You can’t keep acting like you are still abroad, you have to face these people soon.”
“I know but I just can’t stand Jungwon!”
Jaemin shakes his head and signals Sunghoon to sit next to him by patting the seat. “Hating on him is like hating on yourself. You both are filthy rich and obnoxious.”
Sunghoon gives Jaemin a side eye before he groans loudly in frustration. He felt defeated by his secretary.
“Anyway. I’ve looked at the applications for the ice skating business like you asked.” Jaemin says as he hands Sunghoon the applications.
Sunghoon shuffles through the applications. “You should keep an eye on this one.” Jaemin points out a certain applicate.
“Who is she?” Sunghoon questions as he scans the document. “Moon Y/N. She’s the only person from the head office to apply.”
Sunghoon hums. “It’s unusual though. She applied for the role of executive assistant.” Jaemin states.
“But I didn’t ask for another assistant.” Sunghoon confusingly says as he shuffles through her resume.
“I know. But she insisted.”
“She’s only twenty-three and is already an associate manager?”
“She’s quite famously well-known in the company. For starters, she was a child prodigy that starred in many television shows to showcase her talents, and won countless academic prizes.” Jaemin continues to entertain Sunghoon’s hears as he continues to go over who this woman was. “She also is called the weirdo workaholic.”
Sunghoon observed her photo. She looked familiar to him yet he didn’t know from where.
“I don’t think the head office wants to let her transfer to our side of the business, but she insisted on applying.” Jaemin crosses his legs as he kept speaking. “I think they want you to reject her application.”
“Tell them we don’t need her if they don’t want to lose her.” Sunghoon adds, “I’d feel uncomfortable working with a weirdo workaholic anyway.”
Jaemin clears his throat before preparing to say, “Got it. But she must be really good since Jungwon has been showing up to the office to scout her everyday.”
“Tell her to transfer immediately.” Sunghoon pauses, “Who cares if she’s a bit weird, as long as she’s good at her job.” Sunghoon smiles at a shocked Jaemin.
“So do you want her as your executive assistant?”
“No, that would be a waste of her talents. Put her in marketing or sales.” Sunghoon proudly says.
You struggled while holding onto your boxes. You were finally moving departments in the company.
“Y/N, why don’t you stay?” Your former boss says as you bow at him. “You’re our youngest ever employee, youngest ever associate manager!”
You give him a smile before bowing one more time. “I’m okay.” You walked out of his office after that.
Your former boss always thought you were sort of unique compared to others. He started to wonder if you were just after the chairman’s son. Moon Y/N is scarier than I thought.
Sunghoon and Jaemin were on their way to the Park Empire building. “So are you going to meet the chairman?”
“My father? Why would I meet him when he forced me back into the business.” Sunghoon scoffs as he looks out the car window. “Does he keep bothering you? I’m sorry.”
Jaemin chuckles as one hand rested on the steering wheel. “It’s alright. It’s my job anyway.”
Jaemin glances at Sunghoon before asking, “How about Sato Maeji’s family? Did you visit them?”
Sunghoon stayed silent. He couldn’t visit your family after what happened. How could he show his face there?
My poor baby Maeji! I should’ve stopped you from going! Sunghoon specifically remembers these words coming out of your mothers’ mouth the day of your funeral.
Sunghoon shook this feeling away. He didn’t want to look back ay the past. Not anymore.
Time passed as you gathered all your belongings to your car as you waited to get information about your new office. You were filled with glee, you were basically skipping around in your head.
You walked by your now former co-workers at your department. “Y/N! I heard you’re transferring to the ice skating department. Why? That’s like a demotion.” Jimin says.
You nod as your former co-workers all unitedly gasp. You knew deep down they were glad that you were leaving. Imagine a young woman that just got out of college steals all their opportunities in one second, yeah that was you.
You excuse yourself and continue making your way to the Ice skating department. You were tired of hearing these people questioning every decision you make.
FOUR ✶ FIFTEENTH LIFE
Here you were, standing right in front of the Ice skating department. You haven’t felt like this for a long time. It was like something was punching the insides of your stomach except in a good way.
You knew this day would finally come. But, now that you’re finally here to see him, you feel uneasy.
You stand alone, observing the sign that read, Park Empire Ice Skates. You chuckle at this. You remember how much Sunghoon loved ice skating and swimming.
“Is that him? Is that the new managing director?” You jump hearing two girls speaking behind you. “Yeah that’s the chairmans son.”
You shifted your eyes to the door and see two men walking through the door. You knew one of them had to be Sunghoon.
You rush inside expecting to see Sunghoon but no sight of him seemed to be found. You sigh to yourself. It’s okay, i’ll have many more opportunities to speak to him.
You made your way to your new office and introduce yourself to your new co-workers.
You felt butterflies deep in your stomach. You couldn’t believe this was finally happening. You were finally going to meet him again.
“Hi! I’m Ning Yizhou,” a shorter female suddenly says, interrupting you from your thoughts. “Hi, i’m Moon Y/N.” You give her a warm smile.
“I know who you are, you’re like famous.” She says, taking your hands and shaking them up and down.
You chuckle. “Also, there’s going to be a welcoming party for the new director so don’t miss out!” Yizhou smiles before walking off.
Bingo. You found easy access to fake a natural way to meet him.
The day came to an end. You made your way to the parking garage to find your car. You felt like today had somewhat been successful.
“I’ll go get those documents.” You hear a male voice speak from a distance. There you see him. You see him standing alone. This is your chance Y/N.
You were about to walk over til you were interrupted by a truck screeching its tires. The next thing you see is Sunghoon on the ground covering his ears and panicking.
You run over to the male, immediately stopping a few steps from him. You slowly clack your heels on the ground making your way to him.
“Are you okay? Do you need help?” You say.
Sunghoon turns his head quickly. Memories of Maeji asking, Do you need help? When he was struggling to grab a book flashed before his eyes.
You froze. It really was him. You were standing in front of your last love.
We finally meet again, Sunghoon.
“Are you feeling unwell?” You offer a hand to the male. He glances up at you after realizing his hearing and vision came back.
“That’s alright.” He says as he got up from the ground. Sunghoon observes you once again. You looked familiar. Who was she again?
“Moon Y/N?” You suddenly hear a voice from behind you. It was Yang Jungwon. “Oh, Sunghoon. Wow, I can’t believe you’re really back.”
You and Sunghoon both turn to the male. “Sunghoon, where have you been? It’s so hard to get a hold of you these days.” Jungwon continued. “Here are two people who keep ignoring my calls. How funny.”
You stood there awkwardly. Did they know each other? The tension seemed to be high between them.
“Can you hear me Sunghoon? Or do I need to get closer like before?” Jungwon steps closer to Sunghoon. He was aggravating him on purpose.
“You needed to speak to me right Jungwon?” You barge in between the two, separating them.
Why was Jungwon being such a pain in the ass right now? He usually is annoying but he’s being too much, especially to the man you were going to marry.
Okay maybe you are being a little delusional but point still stands.
Sunghoon gets a message, I need you up here now. And so he leaves, “Where are you going Sunghoon.” Jungwon questions, trying to move closer to the male but you interfere again.
“I thought you wanted to speak to me?” You say, pulling him toward your direction.
Jungwon raises a brow at you, “This is strange. This is the first time you’ve taken interest in talking to me.” He crosses his arms in disbelief.
“I couldn’t help but notice you and Sunghoon,” you pause, “I mean, the managing director, dont seem to be on great terms.”
“Really? What gave you that idea because I’ve known him since we were kids! I was just checking up on my buddy.” Jungwon says.
If you were concerned about him, you wouldn’t have spoken to him like that. Jungwon was getting on your last nerve but you held yourself back.
“I haven’t seen the two of you together before, but even I could tell that you were getting on his nerves, Mr. Yang.”
Jungwon couldn’t help but notice how angry you looked. Why were you so angry? Why were you sticking up for him?
Jungwon scoffs, “To be honest, I feel betrayed. You turned me down time and time again, and now you’re just at the ice skating empire?”
“I haven’t moved companies, I’m still under the Park Empire.” You shot back at him.
“Well doesn’t matter because I’ve given you better opportunities than the situation you’re in right now. It’s even worse than your last one.” Jungwon fought, crossing his arms.
“He’s here.” You interrupted him again. Jungwon sends you a confused look, “The person I want to meet.”
Jungwon silently chuckles, “You know sometimes when I talk to you, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
You begin to walk away before turning one last time, “I don’t say things for your benefit so please stop seeing me.”
Jungwon felt defeated by you again. He always knew you were quite the character but Jungwon wasn’t dumb. The strange words you’ve said finally clicked in his head. The boy you were searching for was Sunghoon.
He hated knowing this. He also hated how much you rejected him and how his old childhood friend Sunghoon has you wrapped around his finger.
Jin was right. As the boys were all dressed and ready to head out for the day, they definitely didn’t expect you to be standing there at the front door. Your hand was frozen mid air, as if you were going to ring the doorbell.
“Oh!” You took a step back in surprise. You had stood there for a good 5 minutes, totally unnoticed by the staff of the mansion.
“(y/n).” They all spoke, not bothering to mask their surprise as well.
“Sorry, is this a bad time? I can totally come back again and-”
“No, it’s not. Please, come in. We can talk inside.” Namjoon regained composure first, gesturing towards the inner sanctions of the house. You bowed your head respectfully and removed your shoes before walking behind them. You sat with them in the living room once again, giving you a sense of deja vu. Jungkook ordered drinks and snacks.
As the butlers and maids rushed to fix drinks and snacks, not having prepared since the owners of the house were supposed to be out working the entire day, you sat there, wringing the material of your skirt.
“Calm down.” Taehyung placed a hand on your shoulder and you visibly relaxed, just a little.
“Young masters, agashi.” The butler bowed as he placed the tray of drinks down. With a wave of his hand, Namjoon sent the staff out.
“I... I wanted to apologise, firstly.” You suddenly stood up, bowing deeply to all of them. Another unexpected action from you. The boys all looked at each other, unsure of how to act or respond.
“I’ve been selfish and insensitive. Whatever my relationship was or... wasn’t with that man, I shouldn’t have been acting so immature. Sorry.” You said, head still bowed.
“(y/n), i-tt’s fine. Let’s sit down and talk.” Jin said, going forward as you straightened up. He gestured for you to take your seat again.
“You have all lost somebody, who I am sure... is... was... very important to you. And instead of grieving, you’ve been having to chase me around and pacify me. That wasn’t fair to you.” You looked at all of them. Jimin rolled his eyes, keeping his gaze on the side.
“I’m sorry.” You repeated.
“(y/n), it’s okay, really. Stop apologising.” Hoseok said.
“Idiot. I told you not to let the words get to you.” Yoongi sat up from his leaned position on the armchair. You pursed your lips, knowing he was referring to your conversation that happened when he was at your place a few nights ago.
“What Yoongi hyung said aside, we’re glad you came, (y/n). It was also our fault for pushing you and letting things get so far. We want to apologise for that.” Namjoon said.
“Hyung-”
“Jimin.” Jin stopped the younger from interrupting their leader. Taehyung patted his best friend on the hand. A silent signal to just let it go.
“I don’t really know where to go from this. My mother, she was my world. And if she believed in me working with you, for some reason, I should try. And like you said, I’m being targeted, if this grants me safety, so be it.” You confessed.
“But I don’t know anything in business.” You added.
“I’m not going to lie, we were not expecting that. But thank you, (y/n). I would say, don’t worry. We will guide you slowly on how this words, as necessary. But I think, we should get to know one another more before we get into all that business stuff.” Namjoon spoke, the first one to recover from being stunned by your words.
“Yeah. We’re the best at what we do. Don’t care about not having the skills and whatnot.” Hoseok nodded in agreement.
“So filial piety is what moves you.” Yoongi added.
“Yes. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. But I should at least give it a chance. If I don’t like it, I get closer to knowing what I really want.” You replied. Yoongi raised his eyebrows in amusement at you rephrasing his words.
“But, I... still can’t accept him as my father... I’m sorry.” You hung your head down low.
“We understand. Take your time. Fresh wounds take time to heal. Don’t force it.” Jin reached over to squeeze your shoulder.
“Thank you for taking the time to speak to me, even if I don’t deserve it. I should let you all get back to what you were doing now.” You stood up, rubbing your slightly sweaty palms on your skirt.
“First thing to learn, don’t speak of yourself as an inconvenience. If we didn’t think you’d deserved it or that you were a bother, we wouldn’t have given you the time of day. Trust me, we’re busy people.” Hoseok stopped you. You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
“Shall I take you home?” Taehyung asked.
“Actually, can I speak to Namjoon sshi in private?” You requested meekly. The boys all paused, turning to the leader, who just remained stoic.
“Sure. Right this way. We can talk in my office.” Namjoon said. He guided you to his office. You bowed to the other 6 before rushing after Namjoon. You followed him up the stairs.
“Can I get you a drink?” He asked as he closed the door behind you.
“No, thanks.” You said. He gestured for you to take a seat while he sat down in his seat, on his side of the desk.
“I-I just wanted to apologise to you... the most. Since we met, I’ve just been a horrible person. I’ve been stand offish and unfair.” You sighed.
“(y/n), (y/n). There’s nothing for you to be sorry about. I understand, I’ve not exactly been the bearer of good news since I showed up at your door. Anyone would have felt and reacted the same way you did, I don’t hold any animosity or resentment. In fact, I think I’m still reeling from the shock of you being here and accepting this quickly.” Namjoon confessed.
“Well, I wouldn’t really say accept. More of... try. If my mother thought I could do it, I guess she saw something that I didn’t. Or maybe she’s just a hopeful parent, wanting her child to succeed.” You shrugged.
“But I will be safer with you all?” You asked.
“I believe so. There are guards and security in place to keep you safe. Rather than being alone in your house without any guards.” He said.
“Do we know why I am targeted yet? Like I said, I don’t know anything... My mother never really told me much about her life. I’m still finding things out now, even after her death.”
“I promise we’re trying our best to find out why you’re being targetted and by who. Although, it is probably because you’re the daughter of your father and now that he isn’t around anymore, you could be the target to attain his company.” Namjoon explained.
“I see...” You gulped.
“(y/n), even if you don’t work with us, you can still be protected by us. You don’t have to force yourself to work in the company just to be granted protection.” Namjoon assured.
“But I can’t just ask you guys to help me without anything in exchange. It is not fair and right to do that.” You said.
“Let’s be realistic here. Theoretically, if you don’t like all this or it doesn’t suit you, what will you do then?” Namjoon leaned forward on his elbows.
“I’ll sign my rights as the head of the company and my inheritance away.” You declared. Namjoon seemed to contemplate your words for a moment before nodding his head, understanding.
While you were speaking to Namjoon, the other 6 had not left the house for their scheduled meetings yet.
“When did you get so close with her, hyung?” Taehyung asked.
“We’re not close. We just had a meal and talked.” Yoongi shrugged, not giving much away.
“The one that would have the most information on her would be Jin hyung.” Hoseok pointed out. Jin didn’t react. Whatever he knew was not relevant to information that the others needed to know.Jimin rolled his eyes and walked away. Jungkook noticed and chased after his older brother.
“Hyung. You okay?” Jungkook asked as they entered the garage carpark downstairs. Jimin stopped, his back still facing the youngest.
“Do you believe her? Everything she says.” Jimin asked, leaning against the hood of his car with a bitter chuckle. He took a hit of his vape before stuffing it back into his jacket pocket.
“What’s there to believe? If she wants the work, she can work. She came here to apologise. What else?” Jungkook put his hands into his pockets, an indifferent look on his face to show that he didn’t really care.
“I don’t like her.”
“I think you have made that very clear.” Jungkook replied.
“Why are you all being so nice to her? Just because she is our boss’ daughter? We never let anything into our circle and now look. It feels like we’re falling apart trying to chase after her.” Jimin yelled in frustration.
“We’re all doing this to help Namjoon hyung. Namjoon hyung wants to make this work, not because she is our boss’ daughter but beccause it was his promise to boss before he died. He couldn’t make up with her so he wants us to do it in his stead. Besides, we haven’t really given her much of a fighting chance.” Jungkook said.
“She’s our boss’ daughter but what about us? Didn’t we all see him or regard him as our father? The way she treats him like nothing?” Jimin asked.
“But that’s not exactly her fault, hyung. Yes, he was a father figure to all 7 of us. But what about her? She was abandoned, just like all of us were by our own parents.” The younger spoke truthfully.
“I know...” Jimin stood up, blinking back his tears. He entered his car and drove off, leaving the maknae there, standing in the carpark.
“Jungkook. Why are you just standing there? Ready to go?” Hoseok came downstairs.
“Yeah...” Jungkook shook his head to regain composure. He entered the car, where Hoseok was waiting for him in the passenger seat. Starting the engine, he began to drive.
“What, Tae? Why are you looking at me like that?” Yoongi asked.
“Nothing.” Taehyung slid off the bar stool and walked out, slipping on his jacket. He headed towards the front door, where his driver was waiting for him. Jin gathered his things, tucking his iPad under his arm. Seeing the oldest ready to leave, Yoongi stood up.
“What? You reluctant to leave?” Jin teased. Yoongi rolled his eyes, walking off and leaving Jin behind. Yoongi dropped Jin off at his meeting location before heading to his own work place.
After speaking with Namjoon, he offered to drop you back home. When you came down with him, you noticed that the living room was empty.
“Must have all gone to work.” Namjoon said.
“Wow.” You couldn’t hold back your shock when you followed Namjoon down to the basement garage. There were so many expensive cars lined up, it was a lot. You followed Namjoon to one of the cars, a Bugatti.
“Watch your head.” He cautioned as he opened the passenger door for you to enter. After that, he went to the driver’s side and drove to your house.
“If you ever need help, here is my number.” Namjoon handed you a card as he dropped you off.
“Thank you, Namjoon.” You received the card with two hands. You opened the car door and walked into your house. Like the others, Namjoon waited for you to go in before driving off.
“Oh my gosh.” You sunk onto the ground, putting a hand over your racing heart. It felt like your heart was beating too fast to the point where you felt nauseous. Where did your sudden confidence come from? That you would voluntarily go down to the mansion and speak to the 7 men like that. But now, your facade could break.
RINGGGGGG
“Huh?!” You jumped in shock, fumbling for your phone.
“Oh, hey Wonwoo... Yeah, I wasn’t feeling well, that’s why I haven’t been at university. It’s mainly online work anyway.” You pressed the phone between your ear and shoulder.
“No, you don’t need to come down. I’m fine, really. I should be better by tomorrow.” You dug through your fridge, looking for something to eat.
You’ve skipped university for three days without a note or message, which probably worried Wonwoo. But with everything else, university was the last thing on your mind. Only Wonwoo would notice your absence anyway.
“No need, I’ll just collect my work from the professors. Thanks... I’ll see you tomorrow.” You said and hung up.
Jimin didn’t know where he was driving to, he just kept driving, letting the loud roar of his car’s engine fill the air. He never liked change, he didn’t like new people, he was happy with what he had now.
The fact that his brothers are so ready to accept you was beyond him. He didn’t know what your intentions were and from his duties in Bangtan, he learnt not to trust people so easily. He has met all kinds of scum from all walks of life and he knew there was always an ulterior motive.
RINGGGGG
“Yes, Namjoon hyung?” Jimin answered.
“Are you going for the poker game tonight? The secretary minister will be there for an information trade.”
“Right... I forgot about the game tonight... Since there’s an information trade, I’ll go. Jungkook and Jin hyung won’t be able to go in my stead. Let me know where tonight’s game is later.” He replied.
“Alright, I will prepare the address and ask Jin hyung for the information packet to hand over.”
Jimin possessed a combination of Jin’s card game skills and Taehyung’s deception skills, which made him the best person to play these low profile, high stakes games. He knew how to read the players and the game.
“Boss.” The staff greeted Jimin when he walked in.
“How’s business been?” He asked as he inspected the space and the bar. He hasn’t been checking in on the businesses since Namjoon told him to take a break so he was using this time to ensure that operations were still running smoothly. The manager made Jimin a drink and handed him the money from the previous nights of work.
“Not bad...” Jimin commented as he counted the money on the bar counter. Clubs were the best place to earn money.
“Here. Take everyone out for a good dinner. For working hard despite my absence.” He handed the manager $1000 from the stack. The manager’s eyes widened as he received the money.
“T-Thank you boss!” Everyone bowed deeply.
“Continue to work hard.” Jimin said as he put the remaining money into his pocket and left. There were still other places of business to visit.
After he was done with his inspections, Jimin needed to head home to get ready. He picked out a nice suit, one that was more opulent than what he would wear for work.
“Jimin?” He heard Hoseok’s voice outside his door as he was doing his hair.
“Come in.” He replied, not turning away from the mirror. The older came in with a few boxes and placed them on the dresser.
“Here, your order came in. Just in time, I’m guessing.” Hoseok informed. Jimin put the hairdryer down and looked through the boxes. He pinned the rose diamond brooch to the collar of his suit jacket and picked out other accessories to wear tonight.
“Could you help me put the rest of them in my closet?” Jimin requested. Hoseok nodded and put the rest into Jimin’s already full closet. He sat down on the couch Jimin had in his room.
“What?” Jimin stopped, turning around to look at the other.
“You good?” Hoseok asked. Jimin shrugged but nodded his head, facing the mirror again. He fixed his earrings in place.
“I know you’re here to talk to me about (y/n). There’s nothing to talk about, I don’t have anything else to say.” Jimin said, going into his closet to retrieve his shoes, deciding to go with his chelsea boots that had a small heel.
“Okay. But Chim, don’t feel like we’re against you or suddenly on her side against yours, alright?”
“Mhmm.” Jimin hummed. He stood up as he was done getting ready. Hoseok followed him out of the room and Jimin locked his room doors.
“Good luck tonight.” Hoseok wished.
“You know I always win.” Jimin smirked. Now, he needed to find Jin to get his information for the trade tonight. When he arrived at his door, there was a note and a thumbdrive taped to the wood.
‘Sleeping, do not disturb. To Jimin, this is what you need. - Jin’
Jimin tilted his head but removed the thumbdrive, peeling off the tape. He slipped the small item into his jacket pocket and went to find Namjoon. The leader was in his office, on the phone with someone. Seeing Jimin poke his head in, he waved for him to come over and slid a folder over to him. It had some information and a picture of Jimin’s target for the night.
“I’m going now.” Jimin said and Namjoon nodded, giving him a thumbs up as he listened to whoever was on the other side of the phone.
“Young master Jimin, the car is ready for you.” The butler informed. Jimin walked out and the chauffeur opened the door for him. Since it was expected of him to drink, Jimin never drove.
With the address, Jimin watched as the car entered a residential area. It stopped before a rundown fishing shop.
“A fishing and tackle shop? Seriously?” Jimin scoffed as he wore his sunglasses. The chauffeur opened the car door for him to come out. He pushed open the shop door to enter but the cashier paid him no mind.
“Right this way.” An employee led Jimin to the back, opening a door that led to the basement.
“Welcome, Mr Park.” A more well-dressed hostress greeted him.
“Can I take your jacket?” She asked.
“I’ll hold onto it. My drink is rum, on the rocks.” Jimin informed. She nodded with a bow and led Jimin further in. She opened a door where Jimin saw the game already running. He went to the bar first.
“Rum on the rocks.” The bartender placed his drink onto the black marble counter top.
“Mr Park. Glad you could make it tonight.”
“Secretary minister. Of course, I wouldn’t miss a game organised by you.” Jimin planted on his fake smile as he shook hands with the secretary minister. He was the organiser of this underground game, all a ruse for him to exchange information with Bangtan.
“I look forward to seeing you play tonight.” The old man smiled. Jimin just nodded his head. After that, he walked away. Jimin scanned the room from his position at the bar, there were many notable politicians and celebrities.
“Here.” Jimin handed a tip to the bartender, taking his glass to the table.
Everyone was focused on the game. No one noticed the note taped to the bottom of Jimin’s glass or the thumbdrive wrapped in the tip bills Jimin handed to the bartender.
Tonight was going to be a good night to play.
You hadn't thought too much about the mythosaur since Captain Fett had told you about it. It had been a short conversation, really, something easy to forget. But you remembered it, always clinging to his stories to think back on later when you truly have nothing to do.
“That? That’s pounamu,” he’d said initially, gently picking it up to show it to you. “Greenstone, if you like. It was my father’s.”
“Ah,” you’d responded, not disinterested in the material but more focused on the carving itself. “What's the symbol?”
Captain Fett had given you a vague huff of amusement. He handed it to you, and you’d gently trailed the calloused pad of your thumb over the surface. “It’s a mythosaur.”
“A mythosaur? That's creative.”
“A great sea beast,” he’d continued on. “Said to be extinct. But the story goes that when they were running amok, it was merfolk that tamed them, or culled them to extinction. Spared both the land and the ocean of their dominion either way. The skulls are supposed to be their symbol now.”
“Merfolk?” You’d echoed with a chuckle, handing the mythosaur back to him. “So it’s not real then?”
“Well, now, I wouldn’t rule it out completely. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a mythosaur myself, but then they’re meant to be extinct.”
“What then? You’ve seen a mermaid, captain?”
He had smiled, that mirthful chuckle that had been plaguing your late night fantasies rumbling in his chest. “Never can be quite sure what it is you’ve seen out there. Sailors are a mad lot.”
You remember blithely telling him that you must be a sailor too, then.
You stare intently at the cowrie shell cradled in your hands, trying to force yourself out of what surely must be some sort of hallucination. But you can feel it, you can trail your fingers over the carving and feel every little notch that seems to have been etched with such care.
(You think tactile hallucinations are a thing, aren’t they? But you’re not certain they're meant to manifest like this.)
There’s obviously the potential that it belonged to another sailor, that it had dropped off their ship and washed up onto your dock in the chaos of the storm. That’s perfectly reasonable. Maybe it’s the answer you would settle for if not for the seaglass and the fish and that tail you’d seen in the water.
With all that in mind, and the echo of Fett’s words in your head, you know there’s only one answer.
You don’t know if you can let yourself accept that, though. It would be an irreversible acceptance of your complete insanity. There’d be no calling your mother to trick your brain into believing you have company. No satiating the lonely ache with Captain Fett’s occasional company. You’d be well and truly cracked.
But even so, even if you accept that there may be some degree of merperson out there, that doesn’t explain the offerings. You’re not exactly an expert on the extensive lore regarding merfolk, but from what you can tell they’re elusive and solitary creatures. It doesn't seem exactly in their nature to leave gifts to a human. You briefly consider the option of some sort of siren– but then why not just sing to you, drag you to your watery death and be done with it?
No, it feels like… you’re being wooed.
This doesn't feel at all like a creature baiting you into a horrible death so they can store you away in their lair and eat you. It feels borderline romantic. Pretty gifts to decorate your home, fish to feed you.
(The cowrie shell feels a bit like a proposal, doesn't it? Or is that your fractured mind, making sense of the senseless?)
The morning after the storm, the weather isn't much improved. Though the wind has died down some, it still rains lightly and the sky remains overcast. It’ll be clear enough for the fishing boats to go back out, so it's clear enough for you to get to work. No doubt the storm has wreaked some havoc, and you’ll need to tidy up and ensure everything is still in working order.
So you tuck the shell into the pocket of your raincoat, pull on the matching hat that always makes you feel a bit like a toddler, and head out into the pattering rain.
You wander through the mud and down the hill that the wretched tower sits on, watching as your boots get covered in the muck. Sometimes there are puddles, and you indulge yourself by jumping in them. But today it's all just sludge, begging for you to step wrong and slip right onto your backside.
You make your way along as carefully as you can bear, feet carrying you to one of the cliffs at the edge of the island. One of the shorter ones, short enough that you could probably jump and the only risk would be rolling your ankle if your foot landed wrong between the rocks. It's the same cliff the seaglass had been on.
You gaze out at the watery horizon, hoping to catch sight of any passing ships. A fishing boat, maybe. None would be so close as to be able to see the people aboard, but the implication of their presence would be enough.
At this point, just the notion of other people existing would ease your mind.
You don't find anything but the empty horizon and the somewhat tumultuous waves and you sigh, lowering your gaze to the bank of water beaten rocks below you.
Sometimes there are seals there. You like to throw fish to them, enticing them to come back and entertain you with their ridiculous little behaviours. You’d like to start naming them, and you would if you could get close enough to tell them apart.
You think that's something that people on the mainland would call crazy in a quirky way. In an ‘I’m so crazy, I talk to my cats!’ way, a way that indicates they have no understanding of what it actually is to descend into complete and utter madness.
You can be assured that you know exactly what an actual descent into madness is, because there's no seals on the rocks today.
There's a merman.
You’d be inclined to think he hasn’t noticed you, or else he’d have disappeared back into the waves to avoid detection, if he weren’t looking right at you. He’s staring, eyes intent and boring right into yours.
He’s gorgeous, mind you. His skin is tan and his wet brown hair is slicked back by the rain – and presumably the ocean. Though you hadn't been able to make out a face from high up in the lighthouse, he’s almost certainly the head and shoulders you’d seen last night in the water. His tail, huge and strong, lays against the rocks, and as your gaze trails down to his tailfin, you recognise it as the very same one you had thought you’d hallucinated off the dock. His body of his tail is massive, about three times the length of his upper half. The whole thing might even be longer than you. It’s a dark, teal colour– it’s really no wonder you were hardly able to spot it in the waves. His top half looks almost entirely human, the only deviation being the gills that cut along his ribcage.
Slowly, on the edge of the cliff, you crouch, closing the distance between you both by a few meagre feet. It feels too close, and at the same time it feels like miles apart. You move slowly, wary of spooking him and scaring him away. Even as you inch into a crouch, he shifts, looking as though he’s about to make a break for the waves.
(You’re not certain why he’s so shy if he’s the one that’s been offering you all these gifts for so long. Though, you suppose you’re much the same when it comes to flirting. And generally, you don’t flirt so much with species that have a mythology of hunting and killing your own either.)
You still when you’ve fully crouched above him. He’s close enough to touch now, if both of you were to reach out. You’d like to. To touch him, to know that he’s real.
(Tactile hallucinations, you remind yourself. It would feel just as real as any visual and auditory hallucination might.)
The two of you stare at one another in silence for a while longer, and you assume that he’s trying to take in the sight of you up close as much as you are to him. You feel a bit jealous, knowing that he must have been watching you so long, getting to enjoy the sight of you when you didn’t even know he was there.
If this had happened maybe six months ago, you’d still have been sane enough to be frightened by this prospect of a silent watcher, leaving you dead fish and most certainly hearing you pleasure yourself loudly at night. Now, the horror you should probably feel doesn’t even occur to you.
“You’re the one who’s been leaving me gifts,” you say, quiet as you can manage in the pattering rain, wanting to be heard but not wanting to startle him. “Right?”
The merman gazes up at you, and there’s only a slight incline of his head in response. You’re not sure how to take it, but it’s not really a question you needed much answer to. More of a conversation starter than anything. Otherwise, he doesn't reply. You wonder if he even speaks your language, if he’s even capable.
You reach into your pocket, movements slow and cautious. You’re petrified of startling him as you take the cowrie shell from your pocket, turning it over in your hands before holding it out to him. He seems to perk up at the sight of it, shifting slightly so he’s propping himself up on his arms. You look down at the shell again, running your thumb over the mythosaur, before stretching your arm out, offering it to him.
His expression shifts minutely, into a frown. His dark eyebrows pull together, and he reaches up a hand. You think he’s going to take it back from you, but when his webbed fingers touch yours – he’s so warm, part of you expected him to be cold blooded – he closes your fingers back around the shell. You meet his eyes, and his intent gaze has never left you. His hand lingers on yours, and for a moment his thumb rubs over the side of your hand. His gaze finally drops, taking in the size of your hand cradled in his. His fingers are tipped off with dark talons that brush over the calloused skin of your hands.
He feels so real. Something so real, so warm and wet and rough and perfect, your brain couldn't make that up. He’s here, in front of you, touching you. It has to be real.
Then, he murmurs something so quietly that you almost don’t catch it over the soft patter of the rain.
 “Mesh’la.”
Your eyes dart to his mouth, you catch a glint of sharp teeth behind soft lips before they pull into a smile. And his smile… God, unsurprisingly it’s made him even more gorgeous. It may be the most beautiful smile you’ve ever seen.
Mesh’la. It’s certainly not any language you know, but it’s a sound you could make. So he is capable of speaking human tongues, maybe he just doesn’t know any of yours. You think briefly that mesh’la might be his name, but the way he said it doesn’t seem that way. It seemed like he was saying it to you, about you. On his tongue, it must mean something.
“Mesh’la?” you say back to him, unsure of how to convey your confusion without overwhelming him with words he doesn’t know.
He only offers you a hum in response, still trailing his fingers over your skin, as though he fears the thought of pulling away.
“What’s your name?” You ask him softly, clearly as you can manage. You place a hand to your chest and slowly recite your own name, hoping he’ll understand.
(You think, if it turns out he’s perfectly able to understand you, you probably look like a complete idiot. But then, with how long you’re certain he’s been watching you, he’s likely watched you make a fool of yourself several dozen times.)
He seems to catch the hint you’re throwing and after a moment’s hesitation, he speaks again, “Din.”
You breathe the name in a murmured echo, adoring the taste of it on your tongue. You dart your tongue out to wet your lips as though you might catch a lingering taste of the syllable. Part of you had expected something difficult to pronounce, using sounds you’re not even able to make, but Din is simple. It’s beautiful.
You think you hear a soft rumble from his chest, but it’s hard to tell over the rain. He lowers his hand, leaving droplets of water on your skin. Instinctively, you go to follow him, tilting forward a bit and losing your balance. You yelp, and wave your arms around as you desperately try to avoid toppling onto the rocks below.
You manage to regain your balance and fall onto your backside, but when you look back down Din is backing away, slithering across the rocks and toward the water. You startled him, just as you had so desperately hoped you wouldn't. Foiled by your own centre of balance. You scramble to get back on your feet as he pulls himself away, eyes wide.
“Wait!”
He glances back at you just once before he disappears into the foamy waves, leaving you alone on the edge of the cliff. Leaving you reeling, and suddenly desperate for his return. Din, the merman.
Part of you is imagining telling Captain Fett what you’ve seen, but a bigger part of you knows that you can never tell a soul, lest they think you a madwoman.
(Which you most certainly are, but they don't need to think it.)
You stand back up as the waves crash over the rocks, erasing all traces of Din except for the droplets on your hand and the memory of him that you’re sure is reflected in your eyes. You’d love to dwell on it, to wish him back and stare out at the waves forever, but there’s still work to be done. So you have to go about your day as though you haven't just met a merman.
Din makes no more appearances for a week. He leaves you no gifts, and drops no hints that he’s there at all. It’s devastatingly lonely, even with a phone call to your mother. It only lasts fifteen minutes this time, as you have nothing to update her on and the drama with your aunt has simmered to a cool cold shoulder stage.
(Of course, you could update your mother on the merman, but you would like for her to think you’re only slightly unhinged at most.)
You’ve completely integrated Din into your fantasies, at least, and that's added an impeccable spice to your nights. There was even one night, when you were fighting particularly hard to reach a new record for amount of orgasms, when you included both Din and Captain Fett. You went blind that night with how hard you came.
Funnily enough, it's the next day when Din finally makes another appearance. You’ve got a spool of rope heaved over your shoulder and you’re trudging up to the shed when you spot his head at the end of the dock. It takes all the dignity and sense you have not to drop the rope and sprint toward him like he’s your long lost lover. No, this time you won't startle him. So instead, you wave to him and calmly make your way down the old dock.
He seems to hesitate before he waves back, as though he’s unfamiliar with the gesture. You surmise that he’s seen it before and guessed that it's a human greeting, but he’s simply never had the need or opportunity to use it.
“Din,” you greet as you make it to the end of the dock. Today’s a clear day, the clouds are sparse and the sun is blessing the both of you with its warm shine even in the frigid salty air.
He murmurs your name, webbed hand resting on the dock. He looks infinitely more stunning in the clear sunlight, his skin somehow sunkissed, despite his dwelling somewhere with so little sunshine. You crouch slowly and set down the rope, smiling at him.
“You disappeared,” you say, thankful when your sudden proximity doesn't make him retreat. “I’m sorry I scared you last week. I guess I got excited, and… you can't understand me, can you?”
Din smiles at you again, giving you a full view of his sharp and pointed teeth. They’re almost sharklike. He reaches up, taking your hand carefully, like he’s nervous.
You think he might be– you think that might be the explanation for his strange behaviour. Maybe it isn't just the nature of merfolk, maybe Din is just shy. The thought makes you smile, the idea that this gorgeous, dangerous creature could be shy or nervous. It's more than a bit endearing.
Then he speaks again, and even the rough timbre of his voice can’t ease the shock at the word coming from his soft lips, “Fuck.”
Your brows knit together as you tilt your ear toward him, certain you’ve misheard. “Sorry?”
He says it again, seeming insistent. He gently grabs your ankle, guiding you to sit down on the dock. You’re still reeling from his sudden cursing, too shocked to stop him as he moves you so your legs are dangling off the edge of the dock.
“Where did you learn that?”
(He probably learned it from you, shouting it late at night while you touch yourself, but you don't really have the brain function to piece that together while you're still reeling from the fact he's learned it at all.)
He says it again, and as he begins to tug your shoes off you begin to think he may know exactly what it means. He sets your boots down on the dock and looks intently at you, resting his hands on your clothed thighs. For a creature you’ve decided is shy, he’s being awfully bold. You stare at him with wide eyes and parted lips, willing him to suddenly know your language so he can confirm your suspicions.
“Yes?” He prompts, and it's well enough.
And really, you should probably say no. You don't know him. You don't know where he’s been. You don't know his actual intentions. He could be asking permission to drag you under and eat you. But it's obvious what he’s asking, right?
And god you want it, you want it bad. It's been so long since anyone else touched you, and at this point you’d take it even if it meant drowning. Especially coming from such a gorgeous creature. There are worse ways to go.
So you nod, hurriedly undoing the clasps on your overalls and shifting away from him so you can take them off, leaving you only in your t-shirt and panties. They’re not exactly sexy, but judging by the lust darkening Din’s eyes, your fishy partner doesn't much mind.
He trails his wet hands over the expanse of your thighs, taking in every inch of them. It takes you a moment to realise that he's probably never been this close to any legs before. He’s admiring them and amazed by them, and you shiver when he drags his tongue over the skin.
(Or, he’s seen plenty of legs before from drowning and eating people, and he’s savouring the taste of them before he bites a chunk out of you. He’s got those sharp jaws for a reason. Still, you somehow don't mind if that's your fate.)
His tongue is long and wet, noticeably longer than any human tongue. It would be easy, from this angle, to forget that he has the bottom half of a fish until he opens his mouth. But his tongue laving over your thighs and the slight scrape of his teeth wrenches you back to the reality that you may be about to let this supposedly-mythical beast eat you out.
Or… maybe you’re just letting him lick your thighs. He doesn’t seem to be paying much mind to your pussy at all, actually. You think it’s possible he may be fooled by the concept of underwear. So as he damn near gnaws at your thigh, you shift slightly to tug them aside. Din sees your movement and pulls away from your leg, brown eyes filling with lusting curiosity.
His eyes are on your fingers as you pull your panties aside and tuck the crotch of them between your pussy and your thigh. Din’s eyes dilate, and you can tell he recognises just what it is. It's just what he was after, to eat in one way or another.
Before you can do much else Din grabs your legs, talons digging ever so slightly into your thighs but not breaking skin, and tugs.
You yelp, scrambling for purchase as he yanks you off the edge of the dock– this is it, you think, you’ve just invited this creature to drag you to the depths to your unfortunate wet death.
As you begin to come to terms with your imminent end, though, he stops, leaving your top half still above the surface. You’re distantly thankful that it's a somewhat warm day so you won't get hypothermia from the water if you end up surviving this.
With more careful hands, like he heard your frightened yelp, Din turns you around so you can brace your arms comfortably on the surface of the dock.
Oh, you realise. He wasn't trying to drown you. He was only trying to do this in his domain. If you had the brain for it you might think it were some territorial thing, which it is, but any thoughts in your head are melted away by the sudden drag of his lengthy tongue through your folds.
A strangled sort of noise leaves your throat, and your eyes pop open at the hot muscle dragging appreciatively along your pussy. Even if he hasn't ever seen a human pussy before, it evidently can't be much different from a mermaid’s from the way he seems to know what to do with it. His arms wrap around your thighs to hold you in place, and you’re left digging your nails into the worn down wood to hold you up.
Because you’ve forgotten how to be, you’re far from quiet. You cry out when his tongue brushes over your clit, the strange feeling of it being played with underwater like this heightening the feeling.
(Somehow it's so much more than when you touch yourself in the bath, maybe because the water is cold, or because it's a foreign body, or maybe because the man doing it is used to doing it underwater.)
His tongue is rough, like wet sandpaper (but of a low, worn-down grit), and it laps reverently at your clit. Din’s mouth refuses to leave your pussy, and the delighted shouts of pleasure refuse to stay in your mouth. You think that he can probably hear it beneath the current, because he only begins to suck at it more fervently.
“Fuck!” You hear yourself scream, before Din finally leaves your clit so just his nose bumps against it. He gives you barely a second of soft licks at your hole before he’s plunging his tongue into it. Your nails drag against the dock as your scream of delight is trapped in your throat.
How is it that Din’s tongue delves so much deeper than your fingers ever have? It prods deeper than anything that's gone in there in months, fills you more perfectly than several of your fingers ever have. It’s like his tongue was made just to fit in your pussy, to find the spot that drives you insane with such little effort. You can't even begin to wonder about his cock.
He laps at your hole, his large nose prodding against your clit as your entire body goes tight. Your thighs clamp around his head and you sob his name.
“Din!” You scream, body trembling. “I’m-”
There’s no sense in warning him when it hits you so suddenly, probably more surprising to you than it is to him. Your vision goes white and you let out a guttural groan, forehead banging down against the wood as you writhe in pleasure, pussy trying to milk Din’s tongue.
(You won’t have the cognitive function to realise it until hours later, but his tongue has stopped moving for how hard your cunt is clamped down on it.)
When your vision returns in spots and you find the ability to breathe again, Din’s tongue continues. You whine, scrambling against the dock to pull your oversensitive cunt away from his mouth. His arms only clamp down harder on your thighs, holding you in place.
You gasp, tears blurring your vision as you manage to reach down into the water and tug harshly on his hair. That seems to give him the hint he needs to give your poor pussy a moment to breathe. In a second, his mouth has pulled away and left you dreadfully empty. With gentle hands and strong arms, he lifts your body back onto the dock and rolls you onto your back.
You stare at the blue sky, panting. His hands trail gently over your thighs again, rubbing them in soothing circles. You lift your head just in time to see him press a kiss to your sensitive pussy, like a kiss to a lover. You can't help but feel a bit charmed by the gesture, until he suddenly clamps his jaw down on your inner thigh. You yelp in an odd mix of pain and offence, but before you can say anything, he’s slithering off the dock and back into the water.
You want to scramble after him, but your limbs feel like lead– which is quite the accomplishment considering you’ve built up the stamina for several orgasms in one go. So, instead of fruitlessly trying to draw him back to the surface to tell him off, you flop onto your back and close your eyes, too pleased to really process that you just came on a merman’s tongue.
