Got a thing for my sister, moony? | remus lupin x f!black!reader
Summary : sirius notices that when it's close to the full moon remus is an asshole but when it comes to y/n he's an absolute sweet heart
Warning : one year age gap (youre regulus's twin sis), Gryffindor reader (i hope that still makes u interested), pet names like 'love, sweet heart, darling', fluff
Tumblr media
It was... Sirius figured it out. When remus told him about his so called lopsided hair
"Padfoot, your hair looks lopsided today" Remus said, his left hand on his chin and his right hand pointing on sirius's hair.
When you heard that, you chocked on your drink. I mean it's true, you agreed with remus, his hair does look lopsided. "Mhm, top tier comedy isn't it sis? " Said sirius sarcastically.
The other boys laughed but, remus looked concerned. You were ready for his insults to you, cause full moons in a few day.
"You alright, darling? " Said remus. Suddenly it was sirius's time to chocke on his water. "What the hell did you call my sister".
"Darling, you have a problem with that, padfoot" Said remus confidently. "Geez, almost got me a concussion" Sirius said, taking another sip of water.
Or when sirius, James and Peter found you and remus together in the library.
"What does this all mean im gonna go insane" you said. Defense against the dark arts is your least favorite subjects.
"Hey, hey, it's alright sweetheart, we can take a break, you know, I brought snacks" Remus smiled brightly.
"Really, what snacks? " You asked. "You know, the toast that you call moony toast, that one" He put it on the table. "And you made two! " You smiled.
"Yes, one for me, and one for you, of course i can't forget to make you one" Remus grinned, taking one piece of his toast and ate it.
And when you five sneaked to the astronomy towers to plan some pranks
"What should we do, to snivellus house Slytherin" James walked around the astronomy tower. "Maybe we could put nifflers in the Slytherins common room? " You said.
The boys said it was a good idea but, Remus called you "love, y/n, come". " Yeah, what is it, rem? " You sat next to him, his hands on your back.
"Look at that, that's a shooting star, what are you gonna wish for? " He said, pointing at the moving star.
"Hm, I want us to be friends forever, you and me, always, forever" You looked at the stars, and Remus, then the stars.
"Well, love, I want more than that" Remus said.
That's when Sirius snapped out of it. He realized what remus ment was not oh 'I want more than that like money,or something else's but it was 'I want to be more than friend's.
That evening, Sirius walked to the hospital wing, to see Remus.
"Where's y/n? " Sirius asked. "Oh, she just left, I told her to, she looks tired" Remus said, the pain in his eyes were still visible even though it was hours after the full moon.
"I need to talk to you" Sirius grabbed a stool, sitting closely to remus. "I know you fancy my sister, it's obvious! The way you look at her, the way you're a complete gentleman towards her, bloody hell you like my sister"
Remus's face looks like the moon had come early, "n-no", " Oh dont deny it, moons, I'm fine with it! " Sirius smiled.
"Okay, Sirius, i- I don't just like your sister, I fell for her--the way she acts, her beautiful hair, her pretty face, her soothing voice, and she's everything to me! But you'll hate me for falling in love with her"
"Seriously Remus? Gosh it's obvious that you love her, I mean go for it, ask her out, or something" Sirius smiled.
"Really? " Remus smiled, and Sirius nodded.

Why Not? || James Potter
Summary: Can you do a James Potter x reader set during the Marauders time at Hogwarts? I always like the student from america trope if you can. He's tired of chasing after Lily and then you show up. Sirius pulls a prank on the newbie and it goes wrong or something and James has to take you to the hospital wing and he decides he's going after reader next type of thing?
A/N: Whew! This turned out WAY longer than I was expecting. I had fun with it though! Enjoy!
Pairing: James Potter x Y/N
Word Count: 8.0k+
Tumblr media
“Mom, come on!” You begrudgingly continued packing your trunk, throwing your clothes in haphazardly. Something you knew would drive her crazy, “I don’t get it. You and dad can move to England for his fancy ministry job, and I can stay here and go to Ilvermorny with all my friends. It totally works mom.” You pleaded with her. You were heading into your sixth year at Ilvermorny and really didn’t want to start over. Much less with the stuck-up students at Hogwarts. You’d heard countless stories of exchange students and their attitudes it put you off the school entirely.
“What do you not understand?” She snapped. Truth be told you did understand why she was exhausted from your incessant questioning of their decision. It was a huge promotion for you dad, one he’d been trying to get for the last five years. It was a no brainer for your family.
You decided to push it anyway, test your mom’s true limits, “I mean, you don’t see me during the school year anyway. What’s the difference?”
“We wouldn’t be able to get to you quickly in an emergency. Apparition is only so fast Y/N.” She gave you a pleading look from the doorway. She looked exhausted. Utterly exhausted. You knew it was best to back off.
You sighed heavily knowing you weren’t going to win, “Fine. Whatever.”
“You’ll like Hogwarts honey.” She walked over patting you on the shoulder, “Your dad studied over there for a few years when his parents did the same.” She tried reassuring you. You simply nodded not feeling like putting up a fight anymore. It wasn’t like what you said mattered. The decision was made without you. You were moving to the UK and going to Hogwarts. That was that.
You’d sent off a hundred letters before heading across the ocean. You’d gotten semi-settled before you had to move into Hogwarts. It was like time was passing and you were stuck. Lost in a world you weren’t ready for just yet. You’d just wished you had more time to process everything as you walked into Hogwarts for the first time. Last week you were set on going back to Ilvermorny. This week you were starting an almost entirely new life.
Your father dropped you off with Professor McGonagall. You learned he’d been sorted into Gryffindor during his three years at Hogwarts. He’d told you all about his time with the house. You didn’t think you’d be a Gryffindor like your father was. The two of you weren’t exactly all that similar.
Your dad was far more outgoing than your quieter one. You’d prefer to sit back and observe in the shadows than take control. Rather learn through watching than doing.
“No offense dad, but I don’t think I’ll be a Gryffindor.” You interrupted him while he was chatting with McGonagall as if it was a sure thing, you’d be joining the Gryffindor house, “I’m a Horned Serpent and you were a Wampus at Ilvermorny. Those are two very different houses.” You said a little more bluntly than you really needed to. You were tired of hearing about Gryffindor. It was more so your stubbornness that was coming out now. You kind of wanted to hurt him. He took you away from your friends, your house, your home. He didn’t even come to talk to you about it before he ripped you away from life you’d already built. He thought just because he loved Hogwarts when he was there, you’d be just fine moving half a world away without even getting to say goodbye first.
A look of hurt briefly crossed his dace before it vanished, “Yeah, we might be a little different sweetheart. But you never know.” He patted your back as he took in the walls he’d known years ago. Nothing had changed. But why would it have? The school had been around for thousands of years and had hardly changed since its inception.
McGonagall nodded, “He’s right. You truly never do know. Let’s go get you sorted.” She smiled knowingly sensing the hesitation of the unknown in front of you.
You gave your dad a long hug before seeing him off, “Love you. See you in a few months.” You gave him a half-assed smile. You tried. You really did. But you weren’t excited. You had no want to be here. You should be getting ready to go to Ilvermorny. Not starting this new life. You knew you needed to get over it, but you were intimidated as hell. It wasn’t easy to make friends. And here you were already quiet as hell going to attempt to make a whole new batch. It was going to be an impossible task you weren’t really ready for.
You followed quietly behind McGonagall giving her short answers to the prodding questions. You didn’t want to be rude, but it was just feeling like too much for you. You didn’t want to start here on such a negative note, but you just couldn’t seem to get happy.
To your surprise she got you smiling by the time you made it to the sorting hat. To your even further surprise you were sorted into Gryffindor. You saw the small smile and nod from the Head of Gryffindor. Almost as if she already knew that was where you were heading. It still didn’t make much sense to you. You’d have thought you would’ve been put in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff before Gryffindor. The sorting hat must’ve seen something you couldn’t recognize in yourself.
McGonagall got you set up and gave you a quick tour of the important spots to help you get around. She said a girl named Lily would be there early the next morning to help her with the arrival of all the students later on in the day. The girl named Lily would be the one who’d be showing you around. Apparently, she was on track to become Head Girl next year. You could only smile as McGonagall gushed over the girl. She sounded lovely but so completely different than you. A night and day difference. You were curious to see if McGonagall would have such nice things to say about you when you were to leave at the end of the school year.
You spent the night wandering the castles unafraid to get lost knowing you could just ask a picture on the wall for directions if need be. Your favorite room had to be where the enchanted staircases moved under their charm. Ilvermorny hadn’t anything like it, so you watched as they moved into and out of place constantly. You watched for so long you were started to get heckled by the pictures and paintings. To which you gave them the good old fashioned middle finger salute telling them to shut the hell up. You didn’t have it on your list to start arguing with a literal picture on the wall but here you were.
“Oh! Would you just put a can in it?” You rolled your eyes giving the man in the picture your most annoyed expression.
“I don’ know what that means.” He returned your stare with one equally as annoyed as your own, “Yankees.” He scoffed shaking his head as if he were disappointed.
“It means shut the hell up.” Glaring at him now you were in a defensive stance. You couldn’t believe you were letting an enchanted painting offend you so deeply. But you were too far into the argument to give up now. All the other eyes in the room were on the two of you going back and forth.
“Miss Y/L/N?” A male voice from behind you made your blood run cold. That was certainly the last thing you were expecting. Who in the hell was in the castle that knew your last name? Spinning around on your heal you observed an older wizard giving you a curious glance.
“That’s me.” You confirmed giving him a once over. Tall. Long white beard. Kind eyes. It had to have been Dumbledore. Your father was… obsessed with the man to say the least. He never shut up about the great wizard.
He nodded taking a step towards you, “Were you arguing with Sampson?” He peered behind you shaking his head at the man in the painting.
“Well, yes. I was. If that’s Sampson.” You didn’t elaborate any further pointing to the painting behind you.
He nodded cracking a small smile, “Might I ask why?”
You shrugged, “He was making fun of me for watching the stairs. They’re rad. We didn’t have anything like this at school.” You looked up admiring how they all effortlessly moved locking into place. Hogwarts was so much grander than Ilvermorny, something you didn’t really expect. Nobody ever seemed to talk about the nice the castle was when they came home.
The old wizard laughed, “Rad?” He questioned your vernacular.
You groaned realizing that these students probably didn’t talk like you were used to, “Please don’t tell me I have to learn a whole new language on top of having to meet an entirely new group of people tomorrow.” It stressed you out a little thinking about it. You were used to you American vernacular and slang, not whatever they said over here.
“On the contraire Y/N. You may just be ahead of times. I don’t know what the students are saying these days anyway.” He sounded like any other older person with that statement bringing out grin onto your face.
You questioned him for being so blasé about the whole thing, “How do you know my name?”
“That’s my job.” He smiled sweetly at you before continuing on the walk he happened to be on prior to stumbling on you arguing with the picture. You decided he wasn’t getting away that easy and followed being him quickly, “Which is?” You knew. But you wanted him to tell you. Just to confirm it.
He peaked behind him seeing you following him intently, “Headmaster…”
“Dumbledore.” You cut him off. You wouldn’t normally be so brash with somebody let alone the headmaster of the school, but you were already very comfortable around him for some reason. You knew he wasn’t going to be mad at you for doing so.
He nodded pausing to let you catch up, “Welcome to Hogwarts.”
“Thank you sir. I’m… excited to be here.” You stuttered a bit.
He smiled, “I may be old, but I can still spot a lie from a mile away. I believe you may grow to like this place. Now, I’m off. Get some rest.” He walked away without saying anything further. How odd. You’d heard that he was a bit different. You’d wish your dad would have detailed that a bit further for you.
You took his advice, attempting to find your way back to the common room was comical but you found it eventually. Not realizing how tired you were your eyes closed almost as soon as your head hit the pillow. A dreamless sleep took over not giving you the chance to prepare for the next day.
Tumblr media
“Okay!” Lily smiled right at you, “The girls are here but they went straight to the dining hall. They promised to save us some seats.” She waited by the door for you. You paused looking at yourself in the mirror. It was now or never. You’d met a few other Gryffindor’s but tried to simply stay out of the way, “Come on, you look beautiful.” She nodded holding the dorm room door open for you.
“I’m coming. I’m coming.” You nodded slightly before following her quickly out the dorm and down to the common room. The two of you walked quickly, blowing right by a group of boys who seemed to be very close in age to you.
“Evans!” Lily groaned hearing a voice call from behind her. She had such a peaceful summer without James Potter. But he’d found her in record time this year. She paused. Before you could even register what was going on you smacked right into her back. It wasn’t really your fault you didn’t know it was her last name and the boy was calling for her. If you’d have known that you might’ve slowed down a bit.
“Sorry.” You groaned holding her steady by the shoulders, keeping her from falling over backwards.
“It’s okay.” She smiled at you before moving in front of you. Her smile downturned quickly as the group approached the two of you.
“And a gorgeous new girl.” The one with long dark hair stated looking right at you. Staring so deeply it almost made you uncomfortable. Like he was trying to peer into your entity. Trying to discover you through such a simple look.
“Sirius!” The tall one with light brown hair punched him in the shoulder, “Be quiet for once.”
Sirius shrugged, “Call it like I see it. Absolutely ravishing.” His gaze darkened a shade taking you in. Eyes raking up and down made you feel exposed in the black robes. Suddenly you missed your blue robes you’d gotten used to at Ilvermorny. The look was more intimidating than you would’ve liked. He was handsome that was for sure. But the looks were already too much for you to handle.
“Anyway,” James looked annoyed at Sirius before turning back to Lily not letting you get a response in before he turned the conversation back to where he wanted it, “How was your summer, Lily?”
“It was great. Without you.” Her seemingly sweet exterior was so viscerally annoyed by him your eyes went wide hearing that response. Sure, you’d only known her for a few hours but it didn’t seem like she had it in her.
James let the insult roll right off. He was used to it. He was growing tired of it by now. He’d been trying for years at this rate. The gig was running up on his accord, “And yours?” He turned his attention towards you. The new Gryffindor girl.
“Honestly, not so great.” You knew you weren’t the best liar. It was better to be honest. You’d learned that early in life after countless failures at trying to lie.
Sirius’ eyebrows raised as he listened, “An American?”
It was now or never, “You’re so observant. What gave it away?” With a surge of confidence, you answered his question with one of your own.
The one with unruly brown hair and the cutest round glasses started laughing, loudly, at that, “I like you.” He appreciated when people could throw it back in Sirius’ face. It wasn’t often someone could go toe to toe with him. You seemed up for the challenge though.
He scrunched his nose up a bit apparently a little offended by your own question, rolling his eyes in defeat at the same time.
“No, you don’t.” Lily shook her head grabbing your hand in preparation of pulling you away, “The girls are waiting. Let’s go Y/N.”
You nodded, “Nice to meet you four.” You tried waving to them, but she pulled you away almost the second you spoke.
“Likewise stranger.” The one that originally called for Lily yelled out to you. The cute one with the adorably messy hair and way to cute glasses.
“Who was that?” You asked after she slowed down outside the common room.
She shook her head urgently, “Bad news. Stay away from him. That entire group. Remus is the only decent one. But look at the company he keeps, so who knows.” She sighed leading you towards the dining hall. Each time you made it out of the common room you picked up a little bit more of the castle. It was still an enormous living maze, but you were slowly getting there.
“Alright.” You nodded along continuing to follow her along. You took the seat across from her ignoring all the stares you were receiving from all the different tables. You were the new girl. It was to be expected. It all still felt so foreign to you. The colors were much different to start. The castle was much grander. Everything was the same but so slightly different.
“You made it! And you brought a new friend.” She turned towards you, “I’m Marlene.”
“And I’m Mary.” The pretty girl sitting next to Lily introduced herself.
“Hi.” You nodded to each girl, “Nice to meet you both.” You wanted to implode in on yourself after seeing the curious glances each girl tossed Lily.
“Oh, you’ve got to tell us how you ended up here.” Marlene squeezed your arm immediately once hearing your accent, a detail Lily had left out when she told them there was a new sixth year transfer.
That’s how you became quick friends with a few of the girls you were sharing a room with, by divulging your life story. They were attentive listeners and even better at asking questions as they learned about you. You were only interrupted when the four boys from earlier found seats next to you and Lily. The one who was trying to grab her attention earlier, the brown haired one, sat next to Lily and Sirius sat down next to you.
“Lily! Y/N. So glad we ran into you.” James grinned attempting to scoot closer to Lily who was having none of it.
“What are we then James?” Marlene stared at the boy who you didn’t have a name for yet for excusing her and Mary in the hello’s.
He wanted to roll his eyes but stopped short. It was always best to stay on her good side though, “Marlene, Mary.” He nodded acknowledging there presence as well, “Have a nice summer holiday?” He asked Marlene who just rolled her eyes in response.
“We don’t want your pity questions James.” She turned back towards Mary. A small smile crossed your lips as you observed the interaction between what you assumed to be old friends. You looked back over to Lily who didn’t look so thrilled to be interrupted by the group, her arms crossed over her chest and a frown not so happily across her face.
“And I don’t really want you here Potter.” She spat out his last name. You made a note to ask her about this later. She really seemed to dislike him.
“Ouch.” Sirius tried defending his friend by deflecting the conversation back to him.
“Oh, you always have something to say!” Lily was visibly frustrated now. You weren’t quite sure what to do either. The two groups clearly having some sort of history that you weren’t privy too, yet. You couldn’t wait to grill them tonight like they just grilled you about your own life.
“Let’s just go.” The shier one from earlier stood, “James you have all year to annoy Lily. Sirius you have the same to flirt with Y/N.”
Sirius grinned standing next to his friend, “It won’t even take a month. Give me more credit than that.” He countered making sure to wink right at you. You were more shocked than disgusted. American boys were straight forward but nothing quite like this. This was right in your face kind of flirting.
Your eyebrows were surely raised in visible surprise by now. He might’ve been the hottest guy you’ve ever laid your eyes on, but his personality was something left to be desired. You decided to take on the confident American route. It was either that or get eaten alive by him, “You’d be so lucky.” Rolling your eyes, you turned your attention back to Lily and the group. That wasn’t before you caught the sly grin spreading across James’ face.
Tumblr media
“I’m telling you both!” Marlene laughed as you, her, and Lily walked to potions together. Luckily you and Lily had nearly identical schedules. You were sure McGonagall had something to do with it, but she just brushed it off. You were utterly thankful for the so-called coincidence though. You didn’t think you’d be able to make it around without her. The castle being over a thousand years older than Ilvermorny truly made Howards feel like a gigantic maze you were never going to figure out.
“Alright,” Lily laughed feeling the warmth radiate from Marlene. For as snappy as Marlene was she was truly one of the kindest people you’d met, “say Remus really does like Dorcas… what do we do?”
You shook your head, “Nothing. Nothing good happens when you meddle in between two people!” You warned the both of them. Marlene had heard a rumor that Dorcas was interested in Remus and Remus was very interested in her. She wanted to do something about it, of course. Finding the two of them too shy to make any moves. But you knew better, that would never end well.
“That’s no fun Y/N.” Marlene visibly pouted trying to make you feel a little bad. It wasn’t going to work on you though. You were the queen of doing shit like this.
You laughed to your new friends, “Go for it then. Gives me something to watch.” Eyebrows raised as if to challenge them you only laughed harder seeing Marlene’s shocked expression.
Both girls joined in your laughter as the group made its way down to the potions classroom. Potions wasn’t your least favorite class but it’s not like you enjoyed it. It never really came that naturally to you like it did so many other students. Your favorite class, almost like anybody at Ilvermorny would say, was charms. Unfortunately, you couldn’t take that all day, or you would.
The three of you continued chatting until something wet, sticky, and far too gooey dropped onto all three of your heads. Marlene gasped as she started trying anything to get the disgusting smelling goo off of her. Lily started yelling that James and his stupid boy group was behind it. You were a little too stunned to speak. You weren’t the biggest fan of surprises, and this so-called prank came out of nowhere completely taking you off guard. You’d never felt so… exposed?
You heard the snickers of Sirius and the one you’d learned was named Peter up ahead. James wasn’t to be seen and Remus looked almost apologetic. Like he couldn’t stop them but needed to supervise his friends. You had a feeling the two of you would be fast friends.
Taking out your wand you knew the charm that would do the trick. Whispering out a soft, ‘skurge’ holding your wand out to Marlene who was more in a fit of rage than in any state of trying to figure out who had done it. She shot you a thanks when she realized you were the one who used a charm to clean her up. Once she was cleaned up you cast the same spell at Lily who gave you a thumbs up before taking off to go yell at the boys who had the audacity to do that to them.
You probably should’ve cleaned yourself up before taking a step, but you weren’t really thinking all that clearly. Unlucky for you the goo had seeped down your robe and onto the stone all around you. Being as clumsy as you were you stepped right into the slippery stuff. Your legs slipped out behind you. Before anybody could even react your head contacted the stone stairway behind you knocking you nearly unconscious. Your eyes opened quickly. Placing a hand behind your head you hazily remembered what just occurred.
“Oh, shit.” Sirius knew he was in trouble when you didn’t immediately stand up.
Lily’s face went a little pale. Marlene stepped back. Remus was the only one who seemed to come to his senses enough to react. Quickly, he walked over to you whispering another charm to close up the back of your head. He might not be able to fix the internal damage, but he’d be damned if he let your head continue to bleed.
“What happened?” James asked looking at the scene before him in confusion. He decided on taking the morning to train for quidditch on the pitch with his captain. He was a good chaser. But he wanted to be remembered for being great. He knew he needed to put in the time so that’s he worked it in. Before class. Between it and after it. He was still working on the whole timing thing though. He didn’t mean to be late, he just forgot to set the timer.
Sirius took a step forward before shyly looking away from him, “She slipped. It was an accident.” He didn’t want to elaborate. The angry look already evident on his friends face. Remus helped you to your feet making sure you could actually stand before taking a step back.
“Slipped on what Sirius?” James looked mad. Like he wanted to punch Sirius right in the face. Both Lily and Marlene watched the interaction curiously. He’d only shown that level of protection over Lily before. Had all her years of pushing him away actually worked? Was Lily actually free of James Potter’s advances? Was it at a cost to you? Sirius looked away like a puppy being scolded for doing something it knows not to.
“That goo we made the other night.” It wasn’t often that James yelled at Sirius for a prank. More often than not he was egging him right along. Remus was the one who stopped a majority of their pranks. He let the more innocent ones go. He thought this one was going to be innocent enough.
James was more than angry. They talked about it literally last night. Lily was off limits. You were off limits until they either got to know you better or you pranked them first. James didn’t want to admit how intrigued you made him in just the two short interactions you’d had. That same possessive nature came out when he saw you on the ground holding the back of your head with blood running down in.
James rolled his eyes at his best friend. He’d have it in for him tonight. But for now, he was more concerned with the delirious gaze your eyes seemed to have held. It’s like you were there but you weren’t. James knew that expression. He’d seen countless teammates and himself in that state after a bludger or bat knocked them off their brooms. You’d be fine but it should never have happened. That’s why he was upset.
“Remus, tell Professor Slughorn what happened. I’ll take her to the hospital wing. They should know what to do.” He took one of your hands in his. You weren’t feeling too great at this point. It looked like there were at least three versions of himself in your vision. It was hard to even focus on James’ face in front of you.
Remus’ eyes shot up in surprise. James wasn’t usually the first one that sprung to action. Certainly not for somebody he’d just met to boot, “Alright.” He watched him curiously for a moment before turning to the rest of the group who were all watching just as questioningly. James wasn’t like this. He was the pompous asshole usually standing tall next to Sirius.
James turned his attention back to you and the gash on the back of your head. He nodded in approvement of Remus’s ability to heal. It was usually him or Sirius doing the healing, not Remus. This too was a change.
“Can you walk love?” He asked squeezing your hand gently after turning away from his friends. Remus made sure to usher them into the classroom no matter how bad they all wanted to watch the strange scene before them. It was so seemingly out of character for James.
Turning your head towards him you winced feeling the extent of how hard your head really hit that step, “Hmm?” You heard him but you didn’t really hear what he had said.
When he asked again you tried to form words in your head but was seeming to come up just short. Only seemingly to be able to nod or mumble out responses. You might’ve hit your head harder than you thought. How wild was it to be able to comprehend but not able to communicate back.
“Okay.” He frowned trying to pull you but not being able to get far before your legs wanted to give out. He sighed turning back towards you, “I’m going to have to pick you up now. Is that alright?”
Nodding your head was all he was going to get out of you at this point. You were starting to fade faster than even you thought. You heard a faint, “I’m so sorry, I told him not to.” Before you brain decided it needed you knocked out.
Tumblr media
“Ahh, Miss Y/L/N. You’re awake.” You heard the healer speak before your eyes were even open. It always amazed you that they seemed to know your status before even you did. Sucking in a sharp breath you felt the back of your head with a dull throb, “Drink this.” She handed you a cup of dark nasty smelling liquid.
You tossed it back trying not to gag on the medicine. You never questioned what they gave you because it was always beneficial. But it always tasted like shit. No matter what it was it tasted like your least favorite food multiplied by a hundred.
“Yeah, guess I am.” You opened your eyes again slower this time, glancing at your surroundings. You’d expected to see many places in your first week here, but the hospital wing was certainly not one.
“Knocked your head there pretty good, yeah?” The woman smiled standing next to you, “You’ll feel a little fuzzy for the next few hours before the potion kicks in. Mr. Potter here offered to watch over you for the afternoon.” She smirked at you blocking his view. Like she knew something you didn’t.
“Sure.” You nodded your head gently. You were surely going to have to find a good, albeit less painful, stunt to pull back on Sirius. Because this whole thing was too embarrassing when you thought about it. You were already the school gossip that was slowly dying down now it was all going to be reignited after this whole thing.
“Very well.” Her thick Irish accent made it almost impossible for you to understand, “You’re free to go.”
“Thank you.” Pushing yourself up you took a moment to get your bearings straight.
James stood out of his chair quickly walking over to your side, “Easy now love.”
You laughed more to yourself than him, “I thought that was just a rumor.” You mumbled. He gave you a confused expression as if ready to call the healer back over, “The love thing.”
He offered his hand for you to take. Without even thinking you took his offer using him to balance as you stood on your feet. You felt the potion kicking in as the fuzziness began to fade slowly. You always thanked your lucky stars that you were born as a wizard and not a no-maj. You’d have probably killed yourself from how clumsy you were.
James smiled, understanding your comment, “Does it make you uncomfortable?” He asked. You thought for a moment before breaking out into a smile of your own. Had a guy ever been so thoughtful before? He asked for permission before touching you, asked if his words were too much. You needed to be careful before you got yourself into too much trouble. Your thoughts wandering too far. There was deep history there with one of your newest friends. You didn’t want to mess anything up with that either.
You shook your head, regretting it almost instantly, “Not at all. I think it’s cute.” Your filter was clearly gone with the potion working its magic.
“Cute?” James smiled taking your hand in his.
“Cute.” You reaffirmed hoping he’d let it go and not tease you too incessantly about it.
James made a mental note of it before changing the conversation. He’d agreed to make sure you were in good hands. He’d happily skip class at the doctor’s orders. At least he had a very valid excuse, “Come on, let’s get you back to the common room.”
You agreed with a hum, “Sounds like a plan, Stan.” You grinned goofily following in his footsteps quickly. He wouldn’t let you fall too far behind with his hands still in yours.
James shook his head while half-way puling you along, “I knew that rumor was true.”
“Which one?”
He paused, smiling to himself, “That Americans are really strange.”
A shocked but goofy expression came to you, “I’m hereby offended for all Americans with a comment like that James Potter.”
He shrugged continuing the small trek back to the Gryffindor common room, “Have you tried not being strange, love?” James was having a little too much fun now. Knowing he was crossing the line between friendly and concerned to one of a much flirtier nature. Conversations with Lily were always negative and ended up being too exhausting. All the while he found himself drawn to you just by short conversation he’s shared with you. He quickly came to admire the quick-witted nature about you. How sure you carried yourself for being thrown in the situation you had been in.
As nervous as you were to spend the whole afternoon with James there was nothing to worry about. The conversation came so easily between the two of you. It was almost as if two old friends were reconnecting after not seeing the other for a while. The two of you having more in common than you would’ve thought. Both of you not having any siblings but coming from a very rigid but loving home. Both of you having to move around for your dad’s jobs. Your father being in the government while his you learned created a hair product that was becoming rather successful uprooting their family from normalcy.
He even went on to explain his and Lily’s relationship, or lack thereof one. He admitted all the faults he’d made throughout the years and how he actually started trying to mend the relationship last year, but she wasn’t buying it.
“I think you should keep trying.” You encouraged him, “At least to just be friends. I know I don’t know her like the other girls do but she’s really a great person. I’m sure she’s got a soft spot for you somewhere.” You nudged him. The two of you had started on opposite ends of the couch but had slowly migrated closer together. Neither of you caring about the curious looks you were getting from each and every Gryffindor student grades one through seven that passed by.
He nodded letting out a sigh, “I’ll keep trying. She doesn’t make it very easy.” He laughed with a sad look in his eye, “Enough about her. How are you feeling?” He’d noticed how your eyes had gotten progressively more tired throughout the afternoon. The potion must’ve been wearing off. No matter what it seemed to be it always left the recipient tired after a certain amount of time.
James looked at the clock closing in on five. He knew the guys would be meeting in the cafeteria. He’d all but abandoned them today. But they had to have known. As gross as it was to admit he was almost thankful everything went down. He’d gotten to spend time with the new girl who’d immediately grabbed his attention. It scared him how quickly you swooped in and stole his focus away from Lily.
Lily noticed immediately. Instead of pestering her throughout class he started going for you. She bit her tongue when she saw him toss you a note charming it to unfold when Professor McGonagall looked away. Lily would’ve immediately crumpled it up and tossed it back to him. You smiled from ear to ear seeing the sweet little note sent your way. Scribbling back a reply quickly to him you tossed it as soon as McGonagall turned away again. She didn’t know how to feel about the change. She wasn’t sad or jealous. She really didn’t want him. She missed the attention a little. You were now getting it all. She couldn’t blame him though. He’d been trying for years. He finally got the hint.
You definitely welcomed the attention. It felt good. Refreshing. Sirius backed off immediately getting the not-so-subtle hints from James. James had decided he was going to get to know you. He was going to do it the right way. Get to know you, become a friend and then hopefully more. He’d never expected this. He had every intention of pursuing Lily when he got back to school but then you showed up. He found you absolutely fascinating and just downright adorable.
“I’m good. Just a little tired.” You admitted after not being able to stop the yawn from coming.
He nodded, “Why don’t you go take a nap? I’ll tell one of the girls to bring you back some dinner. I’d help you upstairs, but those stairs are charmed.” He smiled knowing he’s tried damn near everything to break the charm. Turns out old wizards are better at magic than he was.
It started slow. With those notes that Lily noticed. Then it progressed to cute little lunch dates away from the group. James made sure that you attended his quidditch matches throughout the beginning of the school year. He knew if you were there he’d play better. He wanted to impress you. And impress you he did. He was everywhere out on the pitch. Playing out of his damn mind every time the ball came his way. After a few quick weeks of small gestures, he’d finally got the courage to ask you out on a real date, a dinner date away from the dining hall and prying eyes. He’d promised a candlelight picnic up in the astronomy tour since the sun set so early in the night.
He'd delivered on his promise, big time. You’d gasped lightly when you saw what looked like thousands of white candles all over the top of the tower with a small picnic set up in the middle. Roses, your favorite flower, as décor and all.
“James, wow.” You took it all in walking around the footpath he had made. You were sure he’d found a spell or something, but it was always the thought that counted. He’d actually listened to you. For the first time in forever a guy listened to what you liked and what you wanted and then executed on those wishes. How were you not going to absolutely give this guy a shot? You’d felt a little bad taking him away from Lily, but she gave you her full blessing. She started dating a handsome seventh year not long after James’s interest in her had almost completely vanished as it shifted towards you.
He rubbed the back of his neck nervously as he watched you take it all it, “Hopefully you like it.” He looked at you with a hopeful expression.
You stopped before abruptly walking towards him giggling to yourself, “Do I like it? James Potter this is incredible. I love it. It’s everything and more.”
He sighed in relief suddenly feeling so much more confident, “Oh, that’s a relief. I’ve never done anything like this.”
Your smile was one that could really light up a room. Especially since you were already so smitten with the unruly haired man, “I would’ve never have known. It’s beautiful. Thank you James.” You hugged him quickly. Giving his lips a brief flash before you squeezed his torso into your own. It’s crazy how much you’d grown to care for the boy over the last three or so weeks of knowing him.
You grew to care for his insane friends too. Sirius ended up apologizing. While things started rocky the two of you quickly became scheming buddies. Remus tried his best to stop the two of you but often came up short. He was able to stop one mischievous mind but three altogether? There wasn’t a chance. Lucky for them you were clever and often thought your way out of the problems that always inevitably rose. You’d help them avoid detention for the last two weeks which was almost unheard of for them.
When you weren’t with Sirius you were studying with Remus. You had a lot of different small things to catch up on. Thankfully Remus offered to help knowing how difficult it all probably was. Especially since he knew James was after you now. Making it official to the guys the previous night before bed. Oh, how quickly the heart can change when it needs to.
He decided to throw caution to the wind as he wrapped his arms fully around you, thoroughly enjoying the height different between you. He kissed the top of your head before resting on it gently, still holding you close, “Anything for you.”
You hummed holding him peacefully. Luckily for you the usually gray Scottish sky decided to clear up for you this fine autumn evening. After a moment you pulled away, “I’m starving.” You admitted before you heard a rumble in your stomach you were sure James heard.
The laughter that left his lips confirmed your fear, oh well, “Let’s eat. I had a few of the house elves from the kitchens pack this up, so it should be good.” He let you walk ahead. He followed close behind you though. Making sure to keep his hand around your waist in the process.
“Really?” You asked curiously sitting down next to the basket in the spot he had made, “How’d you pull that off?”
He shrugged, “I know a lot of secrets about this castle. I can teach you sometime.” His goofy grin pulled yours right out alongside his. He was so handsome as the candlelight lit up his features with the moon behind him.
You nodded while memorizing his features in this rare light, “I’d love that James. I really would.” You wanted to give him all of the confidence he usually had. Of course, you found it adorable he had gotten so nervous. But you truly were starting to fall in love with the chatty James. The unashamed to be himself James.
You were nervous too though. You’d never had a boy care enough to go to such lengths. It made you horrifically nervous that you’d mess it all up, say the wrong thing at the wrong time. You knew better than to stress about it. It was too easy to spiral when those thoughts would never even cross James’ mind. You needed to relax. He had feelings for a reason. He was interested in you.
“It’s a date then.” He said so casually you weren’t sure if you heard him right. But the smile on his face confirmed what you thought was true. This one had hardly started and the two of you were already setting up the next one.
It took the pressure right on off when you nodded confirming, “It’s a date.”
“How’s Saturday afternoon sound? We have practice in the morning but it’s our first Hogsmeade weekend if you wanted to come with me.” He looked nervous asking but he didn’t need to worry, not one bit.
You nodded excitedly while taking a piece of cheese off the plate, “I’d love to! Seriously, that sounds like so much fun.” You’d heard the girls talking about Hogsmeade and how fun it was to go and get away from the castle. You were planning on going with Marlene and Dorcas since Lily was going with her new fling. You weren’t too worried about telling them that you’d had a slight change of plans, they’d been pushing it surprisingly. Even after Lily rejected him for years, the group seemed much more open to the idea of you and James together.
His soft smile at your response sent your heart into a frenzy. The physical reactions you were having because of him was unlike anything you’d ever experienced. Sure, you’ve been on dates and had a supposed ‘boyfriend’ but this… this was something entirely different. You didn’t feel anything that deep. Nothing like this. The effortless nature of the relationship. The desire to be always around him. The want to see his face, hear his laugh and touch his skin was growing stronger by the day at an alarming rate.
“How do you like flying?” James asked as the two of you continued to eat in a comfortable silence.
“I’ll be honest. I’m tragic at it. Never got the hang of it.” It was easier to just admit the truth than trying to hide behind a lie.
James leaned forward, eyes gazing over every point on your face. He too was admiring your beauty as the moonlight cast a soft shadow over your face. He got butterflies as he began to see a future with you. He wanted to make plans. He wanted to show you how to do things you didn’t know how to. Hell, he even wanted you to meet his parents. He was ready to dive first into this entire thing without fear. James had so much love to give and nobody to give it to. He wanted to give it to you.
“I can show you.” He spoke after the brief gaze he had given you.
Your eyes were all but sparkling by now. It amazed you that Lily was so anti-James. But you’d gotten her story and understood. Third- and Fourth-year James was a total menace to any desired peace at Hogwarts. Even James agreed to the accusations. Admitting he probably wasn’t the best person during those years.
Fortunately for you, you’d only gotten to see him at his best. He was still his goofy, fun-loving self just toned down a bit. Or a lot.
“You would?” Leaning back onto the palms of your hands you sat there an observed him. It was hard for you to believe that you’d managed to get such a handsome and fun guy to fall for you like you were him. You never found yourself to be the most desirable at Ilvermorny. All the guys seemed to go for your friends leaving you to fend for yourself. It never bothered you, just left you wanting to feel desired.
He nodded taking your hand in his, “Absolutely I would!” He grinned scooting closer to you, “Let’s do it.”
He moved as if to stand confusing you, “Now?”
He shrugged still making sure to hold your hand while he got up, “Why not?”
You looked around, “It’s dark?”
“So?” His smile was so big you began to feel the excitement that was radiating off him. Your smile slowly matched his as you thought about it some more.
“What if I fall?”
He shook his head pulling you to your feet now, “I’d never let that happen, love.” He could sense your unease as you surveyed the lands in the moonlight from the tower, “I’ll tell you what. Why don’t you ride with me tonight? Next time I’ll get you your own broom.”
Nodding quickly, you didn’t want to lose your courage. You trusted him. Probably more than you should. You had only known him for the better amount of three weeks. But there was something so pure and honest that you knew he was telling you the utmost truth, he’d never let you fall, “Okay. Let’s do it.”
“Yeah?” He asked once more making sure you were actually okay with the spontaneous plan.
“Come on, let’s go before I can think of all the reasons not too.” You squeezed his hand this time to reassure him.
“I knew I liked you.” Placing a quick kiss on your cheek, to your surprise, he happily escorted you out of the castle and to the pitch where the two of you spent the next few hours flying around occasionally checking to make sure nobody was onto you. You had a certain feeling that this was going to be the start of a brand-new life for you. One filled with the utmost love and the most insane adventures. You were going to have to thank you mom for not letting you talk her out of moving you half a world away. But man, were you thankful.

you tuck your stray tendrils behind your ear tucking your lip under your teeth as you mend to a hippogriff's wounds. the sound of the rain patters against your windows synchronized with the flow of the shower water splashing against your bathroom floor.
it's difficult to cure the poor animal when your afraid he's going to brandish his wings at any given time. you squint hard, engrossed with your work when you hear a knock of wood. it startles you, since you're used to living alone.
'i really like this tea,' a voice drawls followed by a clank of metal against the wood of your table. you turn your head around, and your heart skips a beat.
sirius leans his bony hips against your table, in front of you, his hair sopping wet as pellets of water flow down across his tattooed bare chest. there's a towel around his hips which covers most of his intimate area. your stomach prowls with collywobbles as he gazes at you.
'and how do you know?' you question, raising an eyebrow, as you stand up.
'lets see...well maybe because it was i who suggested this tea to you,' sirius says, his bony long fingers tucking his overgrown locks behind his ear. you cheeks feel a rush of warmth as he adjusts his towel around his narrow (and slutty 👹) hips.
'also could you give me some pants?' you breath slowly, your shoulders tensing.
'sure,'
****
your hand cups his face as you slowly tend to his wounds and gashes. the physical ones. you cannot fix his mental wounds in one night, but there's a fire inside you which bubbles at fever pitch which urges you to be with him. you want to be with him to remind him he's not a deranged killer on loose. you want to provide him comfort and the love that he needs. you want to be there for him.
'easy wasn't it?' you say as you fix down the last of his wounds.
'yes,' he says. you notice his fingers gripped so tightly around around the scalding cup of tea he holds that his knuckles turn white. you realize your hand his resting on his thigh. you quickly move your hand away and mutter a sorry softly under your breath.
'um, sirius were you uncomfortable that i touched you?' you question as void of guilt bubbles within you. sirius shakes slightly beside you, his shoulders tensing,
'no not really. i think it felt unfamiliar to me,' he says. your heart aches for him, the poor man painted as the villain for the death of his brother and innocent people when in reality he wasn't. he was the boy who had lost the color on his skin and the sparkle in his eyes when he learnt about james' death. he was the boy who went out to find and kill pettigrew when it all dawned upon him. he was the boy who went to prison in the name of his brother. he was the boy who lived 12 years in prison thinking everyone mistrusted him, thinking he was deranged, blaming himself for james' death.
he was the man in front of you who lost his boyhood.
'sirius i'm sorry,' you say.
'what for?' he asks, 'beside when should i leave your house? it'd be of help if you could suggest some place to hide,'
the question catches you off-guard.
'why'd you want to leave?' you ask. your finger slowly trails towards his hand and you adjoin your pinky with his.
'well i'm sure you wouldn't want a crackpot old dog in your house,' he muses, raising his eyebrow.
'and who told you that you're an crackpot, you tosspot?' you question.
'oh so i'm a tosspot?'
'shut up, you're not going anywhere,' you demand, the finger of your free finger wagging in front of him. he smirks,
'oh but dovie, i'm not as much of a ladies man as i was,' he says, breathing slowly leaning close towards your face. you feel his hot breath fogging up your glasses and you back away,
'sure, you hag,' you reply but you don't mean it. there's a slow moment where you stare into his gray eyes, and you realize the thunder of his stormy irises hasn't drowned. the moonlight beaming upon his high cheekbones, wrinkles of age and razor sharp jawline makes him look like a man who aged like fine wine.
you hear buckbeak screech and scratch his talons. you breath softly, your shoulders tensing.
'i think we should really find somewhere else where beaky can live peacefully,' you say, getting up. your palms feel sweaty, and you wipe your hands on your skirt.
sirius hums in agreement, quietly sipping on his tea. you turn on your heels, turning to tend to the hippogriff.
your hand attaches itself to your doorknob and you whisper,
'and for the record, i think you're gorgeous. and always be.' and you're sure you hear sirius choking on his tea at your words as you walk out the room.

⋆⭒˚.⋆NAME
☞ Esther
The name Esther is the natural continuation of the Hebrew אֶסְתֵר Ester, the protagonist of the eponymous book of the Old Testament. According to the book, Esther was a young Jewish woman named Hadassah, which means "myrtle" in Hebrew. The name Esther was imposed on her when she entered the harem of King Ahasuerus. A Targum of the Jewish tradition explains that she was more beautiful than the "star of the night".
In Hebrew, Esther means "I will hide myself". In the Bible, Esther hides her Jewish identity until the moment she must ask the king to save the Jews from the imminent massacre ordered by Haman.
Many studies have also found a connection between this name and that of the Babylonian deity Ishtar, the goddess associated with the planet Venus. Ishtar or Ištar is known in the Jewish community as Ashtoret, whose etymology is still unknown.
Another hypothesis about the origin of this name associates Esther with the Persian term sitareh, which means "star". In this case, it would have the same meaning as the names Stella, Astro, and Tara.
The girl's parents did not choose this name on a whim; the choice is due to the main meaning of the name. Esther means "star," a celestial body that shines with its own light, because it is made of incandescent matter. The name was chosen because the girl represents, in the eyes of her parents, the light of their family, a unique light given to her by nature itself, which also enhances not only Esther but also her family and lineage.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ LAST NAME
☞ Lacroix
A very ancient family that adopted its coat of arms before the 13th century. It is found in different epochs and in different locations. This family is recorded in the "Armorial Général," which demonstrates that previously and even now it is distinguished by its undeniable valor; nobility is also evidenced through documents passed down through generations over time.
As you can well understand, the girl's family is a fairly wealthy family that has not had any economic problems of any kind for centuries. The members of the Lacroix family have always been very close-knit, and that is unlikely to change. Follow the family's rules, and you will always be helped and respected, both by its members and by most people. Among family members, there has never been a very strong bond of genuine love; what keeps the family very united is mainly belonging to the same lineage of wizards for centuries; the same magical blood runs in their veins. It would be dishonorable for the family to hate each other.
Furthermore, as you may have guessed from the surname, Esther's family comes from France. Some of her relatives stayed there while the other part went to live in the United Kingdom.
⋆⭒˚.⋆BLOOD STATUS
☞ Pure-blood
As mentioned earlier, Esther's blood status is pure-blood. The term Pure-blood is used by wizards and witches to indicate a member of the magical community in whose veins flows exclusively magical blood because there are no ancestors with non-magical lineage. Some Pure-blood families can trace their status back many generations, denying ever having Muggle relatives, such as the House of Black. But, just as there were never exclusively Pure-blood families in the past, there are none in the present either. They have simply erased Muggle and magical from their family trees. Those who consider blood purity so important usually hide Muggle ancestors, clinging tightly to magical inheritances.

⋆⭒˚.⋆HOUSE
☞ Gryffindor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gryffindor is one of the four Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is named after its founder, Godric Gryffindor, one of the four founders of Hogwarts. Gryffindor instructed the Sorting Hat to choose students who possessed what he considered to be the noblest qualities such as courage, kindness, and determination. The house symbol is a lion, and its colors are gold and scarlet. The house ghost is Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, also known as "Nearly Headless Nick".
Gryffindors are brave and noble of heart. They love to uphold justice and seek out challenges, which often leads them into trouble. They are also known for their loyalty, courtesy, and respect.
The Lacroixes who have attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry have always been sorted into Slytherin (except for one of Esther's aunts who was sorted into Ravenclaw and a few other ancestors sorted into Gryffindor), so you can imagine the disappointment of Esther's parents when they found out that their beloved daughter was a Gryffindor.
At eleven years old, Esther was still somewhat impressionable, so when she was sorted, she was initially angry with herself for disappointing her parents. However, she soon realized that the Sorting Hat had made the right choice. Why? Because Esther felt at home with the Gryffindors, she felt good, she felt comfortable, and moreover, she had also met a lot of nice people.

⋆⭒˚.⋆AGE
☞ September 22nd 1960
Esther was born on September 22, 1960, so her zodiac sign is Libra.
The Libra sign is one of the cardinal signs linked to the equinoxes and solstices and is in full equinox in autumn. It is an air sign in which mental stimulation prevails over emotions and the practical side of life. It literally marks a demarcation on the path of the seasons' evolution, a necessary passage to enter winter, a period of hibernation, calm, and peace.
Those born under the sign of Libra have a specific purpose in life: to bring peace, create balance and harmony by offering their help impartially without seeking anything in return and without prejudice. They dislike chaos and disorder, love art, especially the beautiful and elegant kind. Those born under the sign of Libra are very discreet but like to be appreciated and attract admiring glances. Despite their amiable appearance, always smiling...making a Libra angry is like throwing gasoline on a fire.
Esther's behavior often reflects many of the same characteristics of Libras, although there are differences.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ PERSONALITY
☞ calm, passionate, ambivert...
Esther is reserved but she isn't afraid to stand up for her values when it is something that she cares deeply about.
She is humble, receptive, and trusting. She places a strong emphasis on maintaining harmony and avoiding conflict.
She can be very versatile and is often seen as easy-going. Supportive and accepting, her presence is often found calming by others.
Another aspect of the girl's character is her simplicity. By "simplicity," it means that Esther doesn't need much to have a good time or be happy. It's a side of her character that hasn't changed much over the years. Give her a book, let her play music, let her spend time with friends, or lie on the grass to admire the sky, and Esther will be the happiest girl in the world. In short, simple activities that she greatly appreciates.
One aspect of Esther's character that has changed over the years, however, is her self-confidence and discretion. Esther is not 100% extroverted, but she has made progress since her first year at Hogwarts, that's for sure. She's not the type of person who tends to seek attention or the type of person who is shameless, and she probably never will be. Let's say she knows how to be discreet just right. She's no longer as shy as before; if she has something to say, she says it without hesitation, and if she wants to talk to people she doesn't know, well, often it's the same thing. Despite her calm aura, when she's with her friends, she knows how to have fun. She never does extreme or reckless things, but if there's a prank to be played, for example, she almost never refuses.
Tumblr media
Now, let's move on to Esther's flaws, because yes, no one is perfect. One of her flaws is having difficulty admitting her own mistakes or simply admitting on being wrong. Obviously, if the situation gets out of hand or if guilt overwhelms her (which happens most of the time), she apologizes. She doesn't like to argue, that's for sure, but if she gets angry, she does it properly. Especially because she has a lot of pent-up anger somehow.
An issue with Esther is that she doesn't talk much about her problems or feelings. If she does, she uses sarcasm, which doesn't help people understand whether she's feeling well or not. Often, Esther keeps everything inside. She doesn't want to bother people with her moods and problems. On the other hand, she avoids the topic because, most of the time, she does not know why she feels a certain way and doesn't know how to express what she's feeling. Besides, her pride prevents her for showing herself in a position of relative weaknesses (aka, exposing her feelings gives her the same symptoms as someone who's about to throw up).
Esther has another aspect of her character that can be seen, at the same time, in both positive and negative ways. The girl could do anything to protect the people she cares about, especially her friends. What's negative about it? The fact that by "anything," it means both right and wrong things.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ BACKSTORY
❝𝑊𝒉𝑒𝑛 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑎 𝑘𝑖𝑑 𝑡𝒉𝑒𝑦 𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑑 𝐾𝑖𝑑 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑟𝑦 𝐼 𝑎𝑚 𝑜𝑙𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝐼 𝑠𝑎𝑦 𝐼𝑡'𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑟𝑖𝑔𝒉𝑡 𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑟 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑛 𝑑𝑜𝑤𝑛 𝐼𝑠 𝑎 𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑑 𝐴𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑛 𝐴𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑢𝑟𝑛❞
As a child, Esther was always a lively person, enjoying simple pleasures and appreciating the little things, in short, a normal child who dreamed of a world full of kindness and flowers, where one could have fun and live in peace. You might think she was naive, but after all, she was just a simple child who was unaware of all the violence that existed and still exists in both the magical and Muggle worlds.
As she grew up, she slowly began to realize that the world wasn't such a perfect place after all, but rather, it had many imperfections; imperfections caused by both wizards and Muggles, who sometimes let themselves be carried away by hatred, envy, anger, and who all too often made irreparable mistakes...
Tumblr media
The upbringing she received from her parents was very strict. They made her understand what was right and what was wrong according to them and their values and all that without any delicacy: "Behave this way"; "Don't do this anymore"; "Don't let others walk all over you, instead, walk over them"; "If it's not perfect, it's not good enough."; "Perfection is required, not asked".
These were phrases they repeated to her constantly.
Despite this, Esther was okay with it at first. It seemed almost normal to her, or at least, her parents made it seem that way. They love her, that's not the problem, but they're not the typical parents who say "just try, if you fail it's okay, there's always next time," or "don't worry, we're here if you need us," but rather, they're the type of parents who educate you to be perfect in every way, no failures, etc. They demand perfection and adherence to rules.
Her parents love her in their own way, and Esther knows this; that was enough for her at first, but now she realizes that the love her parents have for her is suffocating. Toxic because they leave her no choice; toxic because slapping her is the easiest option to show her they disagree with her behavior and choices. Toxic also because Esther loves her parents and wants them to be proud of her; toxic because Esther finds it extremely difficult to distance herself from her family even if it's for her own good.
❝𝑊𝒉𝑒𝑛 𝐼'𝑚 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝐼'𝑚 𝒉𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝒉𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑊𝑖𝑠𝒉 𝐼 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑖𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝐼 𝑤𝑖𝑠𝒉 𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠𝑛'𝑡 𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑒❞
She can't distance herself from them permanently, and that's why, to at least get away for a while, the girl often spent hours in the large garden of the mansion where she still lives. She doesn't do anything particular; she just stays there with her wolfhound dog, Argo, looking at the sky, having fun with him, writing, and drawing. This is one of the things that hasn't changed in Esther's life; she still does it, finding it relaxing, as if it were a little journey back to her childhood where her childlike eyes didn't see the complexity of the world and still had everything to discover.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ CURIOSITIES
◈Perfection
As mentioned earlier, the girl was raised to settle only for perfection, not for mediocrity, not for satisfactory, but only for perfection. She was taught that everything she does must be flawless; if she doesn't do something well, she must try and try again until she feels she has achieved her goal. This mindset is part of the girl's routine, especially in the academic aspect when it comes to grades. She must not settle for a satisfactory grade but must always aim for the best.
◈Music
Esther knows how to play the piano; she started when she was a child. The choice was made by her father, who thought that being able to play an instrument was, after all, a necessary richness.
Playing an instrument is one of the few decisions made by her parents that the girl has liked. Playing allows her to release her emotions through music rather than words, which makes everything simpler.
◈Pets
The girl has always lived with animals, whether it's owls, owlets, dogs, cats, etc. It goes without saying that Esther would be willing to die for her animals.
At school, she brought her owl, Zeus, who keeps her company and brings her letters from her family (not that they write much, of course; most of the time it's just to get news).
Initially, Esther wanted to bring her dog Argo with her, but even though he's a very calm and obedient dog, the only problem is his size. Unfortunately, he's not a small dog, and with much regret, she had to leave him at home with her parents, who aren't that present since they both work at the Ministry.
◈Family
Esther is starting to grow tired of her family, unfortunately. She can't distance herself from them permanently, but she's trying one step at a time. First with Quidditch, then with friends her parents don't approve of and, the night before the start of her final year at school, by cutting her hair.
◈ Books
Esther and books are a love story that will never end. She loves reading; it's a way to escape from reality, and she adores it.
◈Bilingual
As mentioned earlier, Esther's family is French. Growing up, Esther's parents spoke to her in both French and English, so the young Gryffindor can speak both languages.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆ QUIDDITCH
☞ Chaser
Tumblr media
Chaser is one of the positions in Quidditch. The Chasers throw the Quaffle to each other and try and get it through one of the hoops to score a goal.
The choice to play Quidditch was one of the first things decided exclusively by Esther. She loves Quidditch and could spend hours on her broomstick. For her, this is also a way to escape from reality and problems. Flying gives her a sense of freedom, and playing Quidditch allows her to have fun. She is an excellent chaser, especially because she trains a lot.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆ PET
As a pet, Esther brought her owl, Zeus. He is a calm, haughty, and very friendly animal (with her at least). He is quite wary of other people, not because he is afraid, but only because for him, his owner is Esther and no one else.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆WAND
Wood: Alder.
Alder wood is inflexible; however, the ideal owner of a wand made from this material is often not stubborn and obstinate but rather helpful, respectful, and very likable. While most wand woods seek an affinity with the character of the one who will serve them best, alder is an exception because it seems to be attracted to a nature that, if not opposite to its own, is certainly very different. When an alder wand is successfully matched, it becomes a wonderful and loyal companion. Among all wands, this one is most suitable for non-verbal spells: hence the reputation for being suitable only for witches and wizards of higher level.
Length: 12 1/2 inches.
Many wand makers match the length of the wand to the height of the wizard or witch, but it is an approximate meter that does not take into account other important considerations. Indeed, while longer wands may be suitable for tall wizards, they are attracted to people with a strong personality and those who practice a grand and dramatic style of magic, just as shorter wands choose those with some lack of personality rather than those who are shorter than average. Well-proportioned wands, on the other hand, favor elegant and refined spells.
Core: Dragon heartstring.
Generally, dragon heartstring cores produce the most powerful wands and the most spectacular spells. Dragon wands learn faster than other types. Although they may change allegiance if the new owner wins them in battle, they always form very strong bonds with the original owner. They are the easiest wands to convert to the Dark Arts, although they are not inclined to do so spontaneously. Dragon heartstring cores also represent the core most prone to accidents, due to their volatile nature.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆BOGGART
A Boggart is a magical creature that can take on the form of whatever the approaching wizard fears most. No one knows what a Boggart looks like when it is alone. It is also a non-being. Feeding on the fears of its victims, Boggarts fear laughter; therefore, the most effective weapon against them is the Riddikulus spell, which transforms the Boggart into something amusing. Company can be useful against a Boggart because, hearing different fears, the shape-shifter cannot decide which form to take. Third-year students learn how to deal with a Boggart in their Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
Esther has a moderate fear of the dark, bees, needles... These are common fears, but ones she can perfectly live with. However, her main fear is to disappoint her parents and friends. Esther's Boggart is the people she cares about the most, telling her she hasn't done enough for them, that they're disappointed in her, that they want nothing to do with her anymore. Esther's fear is not only to disappoint these people, but also not being able to help or save them.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆ PATRONUS
☞ Fox
Esther is capable of producing a full Patronus. Of course, this achievement was reached after training several times. She loves perfection after all. You may also wonder what her memory was that allowed her to produce a Patronus... it might seem trivial, but her happy memory is simply her as a child playing with her dog in the large garden of her family's mansion. A simple memory, but one that symbolizes a lot of happiness, a feeling of carefreeness, and unique freedom for her.
The girl's Patronus is a fox. The fox has always been recognized as a cunning animal that sneaks into henhouses to kill chickens, nourishing only on their brains, but this seems to apply more to the mustelids than to the fox. However, it represents cunningness used for personal purposes to defend one's life or will, especially if used negatively and selfishly. The fox stealthily hides from the hunter's eyes, blending in with the environment. Its physical agility and speed have symbolically represented the quick thinking of clever and astute people who know how to take advantage of ideal situations to fulfill their desires without others noticing.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ OPINIONS
In 1977, the wizarding world is in the midst of a magical war. The Ministry of Magic is under attack by Voldemort and his followers, and fear is an emotion that almost everyone begins to feel.
The one who must not be named is behind this war. Rising to power during the 1970s, Voldemort has managed to gather many followers, most of whom (if not all) come from Pureblood families influenced by Voldemort's ideas, namely, the return to a "clean" magical community, not tainted by the presence of Muggle-borns or Half-bloods.
Tumblr media
What does Esther think of all this?
It's quite simple: it annoys her. She can't understand why there are people who agree with what Voldemort says. She can't fathom how someone could be so morally decaying as to think they're better than someone else simply because of having "pure" blood while others do not.
Fear is the most difficult emotion to handle. Pain can be cried out, anger can be shouted, but fear silently grips the heart and doesn't easily let go. People change with fear; they can do foolish things. Perhaps people become followers of this dark wizard out of sheer fear or simply because they share his ideas.
On the other hand, Esther must acknowledge that she is also worried about what is happening. She fears for her friends, for the possibility that Voldemort might win this war, but she's also concerned because she knows it's only a matter of time before her family gets involved in all of this (and not on the right side).
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
Just knowing Esther's opinions on the situation reveals where she stands. As you may have gathered, the girl would rather be run over by the hogwarts express than be on Voldemort's side. Esther's ideas are not compatible with those of Voldemort and his followers and never will be. Will they?
The problem that arises for the girl, however, is primarily that of her family. If her family were to side with the Dark Lord, what will Esther do? Will she be forced to join them too? She doesn't want to and will never join if she can help it, so a solution has been brewing in the young girl's mind for a while now: leaving home. How? She doesn't know. She wouldn't want to put her friends in danger by running to their homes, and besides, she doesn't want to leave her dog with her family, that's for sure. She hadn't talked to anyone about it until the first day of school. She woke up early in the morning and, before catching the train, sent a letter to her aunt about it. She'll find a solution, or at least try. It's better to get away from potential danger before it's too late.
⋆⭒˚.⋆ RELATIONSHIPS
As mentioned earlier, Esther is no longer as shy as she used to be, so she has no difficulty making new friends. When you get to know her well, you realize she's a bit different from when you first met her, obviously not in a negative sense, on the contrary. When Esther is comfortable with people, she's much more spontaneous in her words and actions, she allows herself to express her opinions and feelings and she allows herself to relax for once in a while.
As for the "romantic" aspect of relationships, it's a more complicated matter for the girl. First, she's read too many books and seen too many movies, so her standards are so high that she doesn't even understand them. She's aware it's ridiculous, of course. Second, when it comes to flirting or similar things, Esther becomes clueless. Let me explain with an example. If someone flirts seriously with her, Esther doesn't get it. She's not doing it on purpose, poor thing; it's just her brain that can't process that information. Third detail. Esther has never had a boyfriend because when she likes someone, that person doesn't feel the same way. When someone likes Esther, it's never someone she likes, which is quite irritating and sad at the same time. One thing you can be sure of, though, is that when Esther loves, she does it with her whole being. Body, soul, thoughts, gestures...
◈ Friendships
☞James Potter
Since they're both on the Quidditch team, Esther and James have been friends for years. They knew each other even before joining the team, of course, but playing together has strengthened their friendship. Esther is relatively more serious and calm than James, but it must be admitted that her friendship with him has changed her a bit, especially regarding her shyness. Needless to say, James is outgoing. Esther wasn't, but James has helped her open up more to others. They spend a lot of time together, even now, which is why Esther has "adapted" to her best friend's outgoing nature. Thanks to James, Esther has also been able to meet Remus and Sirius, two people she cares deeply about.
☞ Remus Lupin
Remus and Esther are quite similar in some respects, so they agree on almost everything, spend a lot of time together, borrow books from each other... Esther is very comfortable with both Remus and the other Marauders; they all know each other quite well. With Remus she could spend hours simply staying in silence and relaxing, his presence comforting her as much as it comforts him.
☞ Sirius Black
How can one be friends with James and not be friends with Sirius Black? It's impossible. Those two are like brothers; if you're friends with one of them, you're friends with the other.
Sirius is a flirt, everybody knows, and Esther finds his behaviour in general rather funny. The two are always playfully bickering, exchanging sarcastic comments, just genuinely enjoying their friendship.
The thing that strengthens their relationship however, is also the fact that they have a few things that are similar in their upbringing and they both know that, if one of them needs to talk, the other will always be there to listen, because, in the end, who can understand them better than they do one another?
If we sum up, we can say that the moment she set a foot in the train to start her first year at Hogwarts, was the moment she met these troublemakers and the moment they all became inseparable ever since somehow.
☞ Marlene McKinnon
Esther and Marlene are the classic best friends you can see in movies and read about in books. In some respects, they're opposites; for example, one is blonde, the other is brunette; one is always full of energy, the other is calmer, more chill... Despite these small differences, Esther and Marlene are very close, both from mutual affection and the secrets they share

◈ Family
☞Mother
Claire Lacroix (née Fournier)
☞Father
Thomas Lacroix
☞Aunt
Mary Lacroix
As mentioned earlier, everyone in Esther's family ended up in Slytherin except for some ancestors and her aunt. Mary Lacroix is the aunt in question who was sorted into Ravenclaw. She is the younger sister of Esther's father. She's somewhat the black sheep of the family because she's always been rebellious and has never respected the "ridiculous" traditions imposed by her parents; moreover, she is the only one who distanced herself fully from everything relating to her family. She moved to London as soon as she turned 18 and now works at the Ministry as well. She's a bit of the stereotypical rich, single, young aunt. She hardly ever talks to her family; the only occasions they see each other are family dinners and parties (like Christmas or some birthdays - and it's even rare to see her in such events because either she wasn't invited or simply refused to come).
☞Grandpa
Jean Lacroix
☞Grandma
Sybil Lacroix (née Grantham)

my most controversial headcanon
Barty Crouch Jr has an older sister
It just makes sense, like a reverse Lily and Petunia type of thing, where this kid is just so angry cause his big sister is seemingly perfect and fits into the box his parents want him to, and he can't live up to it, and so he turns to rebelling. I think it adds to the angst, the family divided trope, and I really don't think Barty Crouch Sr was a bad parent, I think he tried his best. So there it is!

two of hearts, the prank, and the moon | remus lupin x f!reader
Summary : you were apart of the prank, but in the process, you turned into a werewolf but now remus hates you (and sirius)
Warning : angst, happy ending, pet names like 'love'
Tumblr media
"Severus!" James screamed, immediately pulling him out of the shrieking shack, but in the process, turning into a human. You and sirius looked at each other. You two messed up.
Remus came howling at the two boys, and running to them. Sirius tried to use his wand but, nothing worked.
James was your bestfriend, although severus was not, you didn't want him to die, so, you did the unthinkable and the most stupid thing in the world.
You thought that if you stood in front of the two, James and severus would be alright, and, you were right, they were alright but, you'll need to pay for it. "REMUS,NO! " James screamed.
That was the last thing you heard other than dog barks, rat sounds, and severus's heavy breathing. That was the last thing you heard before you woke up in the hospital wing.
"Y/n? " Sirius puts his hat down. "Y/n, y/n? You're awake! " Sirius smiled. Though his eyes were a bit dark, he looks happier than ever.
"What happened, siri? " You opened your eyes thoroughly, looking at the bright lanterns around. "Our prank didnt end well, and, i-i think this will be a shock, I think I should tell you after you heal" Sirius Stuttered, his eyes not daring to see yours.
"Tell me, Sirius, it's remus isn't it? He hates me, he hates us right now" You sighed. But to your suprise, Sirius shook his head "way worse than that.. That night, you tried to protect James and severus, and you did, but, well, remus, this isn't remus, but it is remus, remus is not remus when he turns into a werewolf but remus just-"
"Sirius, stop, just tell me" You pulled your blanket, eager to know what Sirius was gonna tell you. "Remus, or, his wolf self, bit you, but, you won't feel it right now, madam pomfrey gave you a lot of painkillers and spells". Suddenly, you didn't want to know.
From that day on, you were a werewolf.
"Does remus know? " You asked, "no" Sirius shrieked. "Does the others know, including Severus? ", " Yes, but, Severus swore not to tell anyone" Sirius said.
"Is remus okay? " You asked, again, Sirius replied "no, not quite" He paused "he's physically alright, but mentally.. Not so alright. Hes been going crazy, talking shit about us, but, we deserve it, well I deserve it, and, don't be surprised if he doesn't want to talk to you for awhile"
Your stomach dropped. You did the wrong thing but, you thought, remus, your best friend, who, you've been flirting with for years, and what you thought was liking each other, hates you now.
"Y/n? " Sirius said. "Sorry, that was just a lot to take in"
From that day forward, you hated yourself more than anything. Most of all, you hated yourself for thinking youre still allowed to love remus and you hate your self for loving remus, after the things he had said.
It was as if the full moon was close for, everyday. Remus became an asshole and a sweetheart. But for you and Sirius, he became an absolute asshole. You hated it. You still have a soft spot for him. You still hanged out with the same friends, and slowly it was turning.. Unbareable.
Everyone slowly starts to disappear, Sirius barely being there, remus talking shit and flirting with other girls, which, is fine but, you've had enough.
So slowly, you drifted away from everything, staying in your dorm longer, and what was so unlikely was being friends with Severus.
"You swear you won't tell anyone, about remus, and my condition" You asked. "I won't, and, why do you care so much about remus now, I've seen or, well, everyone has seen, remus has been a git towards you" Severus said.
"Well, I've never really had a friend like him, well, Severus, how about we make wolfsbane" You gave a small smile. "Let's make it then, attempt number 7,i think this is it" Severus smiled.
In the process of making wolfsbane, remus was not having it at all.
Remus scoots over to his bed in the common room. "Didn't know why I'd care for such a bitch anyways" Remus scoffed. "Moony, everyone here knows you don't mean that, you'll never say something like that about y/n" Sirius said, only receiving a shrug.
"Hey, you know sirius's right" James said. "Really? Cause she certainly made me think that I had to pack up and leave Hogwarts. " Remus rolled his eyes. "You know, we're slowly losing and missing her, and, she's know friends with Severus" Peter said. "Pete, I don't care about her, I don't care if she's friends with him".
"Rem, what happened to 'I love her'? " Sirius asked. Everyone's eyes on him, remus replied "w-well I won't say that has changed but, she for sure has changed".
"Moony, y/n loves you and you need to talk to her, the girl has been running like a lost cat searching for its owner, everyday the only thing she asks was if your were okay, if you wanted to talk to her, if-if you knew-" James said, but was cut off by Sirius "that's enough".
"Continue, James". " I can't" James say, but remus forced him to. "That night, she, she tried to protect us, but- it's not your fault but, you accidentally bit her,"
"What? " Remus said, his heart beating faster, his palms were wet, and his faces suddenly becomes pale. Everything became slow. "No, no, how long have you guys- guys knew- know this" Remus was so shooked and scared that, he was not talking proper English anymore.
"Ever since she got bit, Peter, Sirius, Severus and I know, and, she told us not to tell you, and that, it was because you kept avoiding her and talk shit about her that she became friends with the slytherins, because- she felt like a first year to.. To like you, and she hated herself for it, and she said that she felt more like a fan than a friend, and that, Peter, Sirius and I should keep a distance between her and us, she said that, if she keeps hanging out with us, she might mess up even more" Now James weren't even sure he was using the correct grammar or not.
"But, what? She likes me?, and she turned? She, she, where's y/n, I need to talk to her" Remus stood up from his bed, catching the map that Sirius throwed to him.
The library.
Remus never runned as fast as this. He looked for you in Everysection, and there you were. Sitting and reading your favorite book.
"Y/n" He said. "Rem? " Your voice were soft "what are you doing here". " Is checking for a friend a crime? " Remus asked.
You looked away, tears was coming out of your eyes "friends you say, after calling me a slut and what ever things you've said about me".
"Y/n, I'm sorry" Remus said. "What are you sorry for, I'm the one who's supposed to be sorry, I betrayed your trust, and, you- I'm sorry, I really am.. I suppose you know already? " You asked, still not looking at him, even though he was sitting next to you.
"About, uhm, about me biting you? " Remus asked. "Knew you'd find out sooner or later" You accidentally squeaked.
"Y/n, are you crying? " Remus asked. "No, I'm not crying" You sobbed, even more. "Hey, y/n, y/n, love, look at me" He said, grabbing your hand.
"I'm sorry, Remus, im really am sorry, I swear I didn't mean to do that, and all the things you said were right, and things doesn't need to go back like it used to be but-but, please, just, forgive me" You covered your eyes with your hands.
"I forgive you and I'm sorry, about the things I've said, and I'm really sorry about it, you know, it" Remus said. It was visible that his eyes were glassy.
"Remus, it was my fault, it was my fault that I brought Severus with me, you don't have to be sorry, and thank you for forgiving me.. "
"What now? " Remus asked. "Forget about each other's existence? " You sniffed.
Remus's face were visibly disappointed. "Before we do that, I want to tell you something" Remus said, and you swore that you could heat his breathing getting faster and faster.
"I love you". That was it. "I-i, remus" You shook your head. "I get it, like you said, we could forget about each others existence and move on".
"No, remus, we've wasted so much time" You said. "By that.. You mean? ", " How dense can you get, remus, I love you too.. " You said, finally smiling.
"Really? "
"Really. I do love you, and, I'm sorry about everything that has been going on"
"I'm sorry, my love, I don't mean any of the things I've said"
"Prove it, then"

Hello,
Can you do a James Potter x reader set during the Marauders time at Hogwarts? I always like the student from america trope if you can. He's tired of chasing after Lily and then you show up. Sirius pulls a prank on the newbie and it goes wrong or something and James has to take you to the hospital wing and he decides he's going after reader next type of thing?
Ahh! My very first Harry Potter related request and I love it!! I have a few requests ahead so I'll try and get it out ASAP :) (Probably within a week or two!)

Summary: Marlene McKinnon is very very gay ... but her sister isn’t.
Notes: Harry Potter Universe, pre-Azkaban Sirius, imagine.
Tumblr media
Sirius sauntered over to Marlene, who was giggling in the corner of the library with Dorcas, and plunked down in a chair right next to her, swinging his arm around her shoulders.
“Hi there, Mar,” he said, smirking at the blonde girl, who only raised her eyebrows.
“Do you need something, Black?” she asked, obviously irritated, and Sirius shrugged.
“Nothing in particular—”
“Great. If that’s all.” Marlene turned back to Dorcas, who had a smug smirk plastered on her lips.
“—but I was wondering,” Sirius continued, “if you wanted to accompany me to Hogsmeade this weekend?”
“Why would I want to do that, Black?” Marlene and Sirius were decent friends, and there was always some sort of playful banter between the two. However, it was obvious to everyone involved that Marlene was very much a lesbian and held no romantic interest for Sirius in the slightest—well, everyone except Sirius himself, apparently.
“Oh please, Marlene. We’ve been flirting for ages. Why not just go on a date with me?” Sirius reasoned with a casual shrug.
Marlene’s jaw went slightly slack. “Wait.” Her eyebrows furrowed. “You really don’t know?”
“Know what? Do you have a boyfriend?” Sirius abruptly removed his arm from around her shoulders, and Dorcas furiously bit her lip in an attempt to contain a snort of laughter.
“Sirius,” Marlene’s face showed nothing if not pity, “if I were to ever go on a date with a man, that man would be you. But—and I’m not sure how you didn’t figure this out—I am a raging homosexual and therefore physically cannot like you like that.” Dorcas couldn’t contain it any longer, and a shriek of laughter escaped her lips as her face met the table, her black curls framing her heaving form.
Sirius, meanwhile, almost passed out from embarrassment. His eyes widened to the size of tea saucers, and his face practically transfigured itself into a tomato as his jaw fell. He almost immediately pulled away from Marlene and sat a respectful distance away, refusing to meet her eyes as he stammered an apology.
“Don’t be sorry, truly,” Marlene said easily. “I can’t believe you didn’t realize it before. I mean, Dorcas and I have been dating for—what, a year and a half, now?” Dorcas seemed to nod through her convulsions, sitting up and taking a deep breath to compose herself.
“Shit, really?” Sirius felt terrible, now. “I’m so sorry, Doe, I didn’t realize.”
“No, it’s perfectly fine. That just made my day, my week, and almost my month.” Sirius rolled his eyes at her response, saying a quick goodbye in an effort to escape the embarrassment as quickly as possible. He was only a couple of rows of bookshelves away when Marlene called him back, and he groaned internally.
“You know,” she said, a mischievous look in her eye, “I have a sister.”
~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~
“GEORGIA!”
The librarian shushed Marlene aggressively as the girl shouted across the library to Georgia McKinnon, who sighed and looked up from her book, meeting her sister’s gleeful eyes with a glare.
What? she mouthed, obviously irritated, and Marlene pointed from her sister to the bookshelf next to Dorcas, where a tall figure stood casually.
Georgia had seen Sirius Black around Hogwarts on numerous occasions. She was a bright girl, so she took a lot of advanced classes, quite a few of which she shared with the notorious lady’s-man. She was also quite good friends with Remus Lupin, who happened to be very close with Sirius, and Georgia was Remus’s number-one confidant when it came to his worries about his friends’ safety. She knew about his “furry little problem”, and her presence always seemed to do wonders on Remus’s—and everyone else’s—nerves.
Georgia made a confused face at Marlene from across the library, who rolled her eyes and beckoned her over. Georgia shook her head, motioning to the book in her hands, and Marlene raised a threatening eyebrow, as if to say “if you don’t come over here, I’ll drag you”. Begrudgingly, Georgia gathered her things and marched over to her sister and Dorcas, who smiled kindly at Georgia.
“Hi Georgie,” she greeted in a whisper. “Sorry she interrupted your book. I couldn’t really stop it.”
“It’s alright, Dee. I know it wasn’t your fault.” She sent a glare at Marlene, who gladly returned it, making Dorcas chuckle. “What did you disrupt my happiness for, anyway?”
“Georgia, this is Sirius Black.” She motioned to the boy that still leant against the bookshelf to the right of Dorcas. “He was asking about you.” Sirius’s eyes widened, and he sent Marlene a bewildered look that she ignored.
Georgia McKinnon was absolutely stunning, to say the least. Her blonde hair was held out of her face in a gold clip—though it didn’t do a very good job, seeing as there were quite a few curls that fell into her face—and her sharp sage eyes seemed to bore into Sirius’s soul in a way that felt like he was sinking into a sea of honey. When Marlene told her that he was asking about her, he was immediately embarrassed.
“Oh.” Georgia didn’t quite know how to respond. Although she had her fair share of boys who were interested in her, they were never as well-known or good-looking as Sirius was. “Well … nice to officially meet you.” She adjusted her armful of books to rest in the crook of her left elbow as she extended her right hand for him to take. Sirius shook it, maintaining eye contact as if he were in a trance, and Georgia blushed, quickly averting her eyes. “Well, I’d best be off. Professor Sorena asked if I could tutor some third-years over lunch. I’ll see you around, Sirius, Dee. See you later, Miss Medusa.”
“Fuck off, Georgia,” Marlene snapped as the girl strode away, laughing lightly, and Sirius about melted on the spot.
“Awww, look at him.” Dorcas leaned her head on Marlene’s shoulder. “He’s in loooove.” Marlene rolled her eyes, though there was a light smile on her lips.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let’s go get lunch.”
Three Years Later
Three knocks rang through the McKinnon household, and Marlene bounded from the kitchen to the foyer, opening the front door.
“Hi there Peter,” she said, furrowing her eyebrows. “What are you doing here this early?” It was barely seven in the morning, and the rest of the McKinnons—plus Dorcas, who was staying the night—were still sound asleep. Peter himself looked terrible, if Marlene was honest. His eyes were sunken, and dark purple bags hung under them, but his eyes were fierce and determined. “Peter, are you alright? You look sick.”
Marlene surveyed Peter for any injuries—a habit she had grown used to, given the war—and that was when she saw it.
Peter’s long-sleeved shirt—too warm for mid-summer—was rolled up to his elbows, exposing his left forearm, where a dark, slithering tattoo caught Marlene’s eye.
Immediately, she slammed the door shut, forcing the deadbolt into place and taking a step away from it. She was defenseless, now, having left her wand on the bedside table, and her anxiety grew as Peter placed his fist on the door from the other side.
“Mar, just come out. Come with me. Nothing will happen—I promise.”
Marlene was frozen to the spot, terror consuming her to the point of no return.
“Marlene.” Silence. “Marlene, don’t make me come in there.”
“Mar?” Georgia. “Who’s here?”
The sound of her sister’s voice broke Marlene from her stupor. “Georgie, go back upstairs,” Marlene ordered, her voice hushed.
“What? No, Sirius is taking me to the movies in an hour, and I have to walk to—”
“No, Georgia.” Marlene’s voice was firm, but there was something Georgia had scarcely heard before, too—fear.
“Mar, what’s going on?”
“Georgie, please just go up—”
The door flew off of its hinges with a deafening bang. Marlene just barely ducked, but Georgia wasn’t so lucky. She was hit head-on by the solid mahogany door and in an instant, she crumpled to the ground. Marlene cried out to her sister, but her attention was quickly brought to the man walking through her broken doorway.
“Mar, you should have listened,” Peter said, the pity in his voice almost fooling her for a second. “Nothing would have happened if you just came with me.”
Georgia felt the pain before her eyes were even opened. It felt as if her forehead was struck by lightning, leaving a residual shockwave that wouldn’t stop bouncing her brain back and forth in her skull. Immediately, she groaned, and a handful of muffled voices filtered through the headache, worsening it as they grew louder and louder. After a few moments, her head felt as if it were being split in two. Suddenly, a loud voice cut through the rest, which all slowly quieted, and another spoke gently to her.
“Georgie?”
~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~
Lily Potter leaned over her best friend’s younger sister, hoping against hope that she wouldn’t follow Marlene’s path. Sirius had grown worried when Georgia hadn’t shown up at their usual meeting place, eventually making the trek to the McKinnon home. What he found was almost more than he could handle.
The McKinnons and Dorcas Meadowes were dead—massacred in their own home—and the sole survivor of the attack was the woman laying in the guest bedroom at the Potters’. Everyone was crowded around the bed, hoping that Georgia would survive. The blow she sustained was enough to knock her out and split her forehead open, and by the time Sirius had arrived, there was a startling amount of blood staining the floor, but Lily insisted Georgia would survive—whether for her sake or everyone else’s, Sirius wasn’t sure.
A small groan escaped Georgia’s lips, and the group of friends murmured in excitement. She sounded pained, but at least she was alive.
“Everyone quiet,” Lily hissed, ushering the group out of the door, but Sirius stayed by Georgia, and Lily let him.
“Georgie?” Sirius’s voice was as soft as he could manage, and he couldn’t think of a time where he was more glad to see Georgia’s pale green eyes than when her eyelashes fluttered apart and she squinted around the room.
“Where am I?” she asked, her voice hoarse as a hand came up to touch the gauze wrapped around her head.
“You’re at James’s, darling,” Sirius reassured, holding her free hand and kissing her knuckles as she looked at him.
“Are you okay?” she asked. Sirius’s bloodshot eyes and tear-stained cheeks were obvious, and it ignited a spark of worry in Georgia’s stomach.
Sirius laughed tearfully. “Yes, m’love, I’m fine.”
His face didn’t match his words.
“Where’s Mar?”
The dreaded question had come sooner than Sirius had hoped.
Lily quietly excused herself as Sirius sat next to Georgia’s head in the king bed, legs crossed. He stroked her hair gently as her light green eyes peered up at him with such curiosity. His breath caught in his throat. He knew the news he bore would break Georgia’s heart, and if it were up to him, he would never tell her just to keep her as she was just then; innocent and content, even in the middle of a war.
The pit of worry in Georgia’s stomach only grew as Sirius looked at her, examining every inch of her face as if it were the last time he would see her like that. She knew before he even said what had happened. Her mind couldn’t remember what had occurred, but the tug in her heart told her even before she had opened her eyes that something was wrong.
“Sirius,” Georgia whispered, eyes filling with sorrow as she spoke. Sirius almost wanted to cry out—to tell the unworried look in her eyes to come back, because he could never get enough of it. “Sirius, tell me.”
Georgia felt the spark in her heart fizzle.
Her ribcage felt hollow as Sirius bit his lip, restraining his own tears for her sake, and a strangled sob left her lips.
“Please, Sirius, please.”
This wasn’t an option.
Marlene had been a part of Georgia’s life from the start. She was a teasing, ever-loving constant in Georgia’s world. She’d never left before. She would never leave.
This couldn’t be an option.
“I’m sorry, Geor—”
“NO!”
Georgia scrambled up, almost passing out as her headache tripled and the world tilted sharply. Sirius wrapped his arms around her waist before she could even get off of the bed, pulling her into his lap, and Georgia let out a dry sob, pounding her weak fists against his chest.
“Georgia, she—”
“NO, NO! STOP!”
“Georgia, she’s gone!”
“NO!”
~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~
James, Remus, Lily, Alice, and Frank listened in silence as Georgia screamed for her sister, some with hands over their mouths and others with eyes closed, barely holding back tears. No one knew what to do other than wait. Marlene was friends with everyone, and it was only a twist of the knife to hear Georgia in such pain after her sister’s death. She was always the shoulder for anyone to cry on, no matter the circumstances, and all that anyone could think to do was to provide the same service for her now.
But somehow, it didn’t seem nearly enough.
~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~   ~~~
Lily didn’t let Georgia out of bed for several weeks, and another week and four days passed until she allowed Sirius to take her home with him. Georgia was obviously in mourning, though no one except Sirius ever saw the full extent of her grief. After the first day, she seemed terribly anguished, but she never cried in front of anyone, only allowing the agony to consume her when she was curled in Sirius’s chest at night.
Sirius was tasked with packing Georgia’s things and bringing them from the now-empty McKinnon house to his flat in London. He returned with glassy eyes and a trunk full of clothes, toiletries, and a mess of photos, gathering Georgia from the Potters’ and apparating to his flat in Isle of Dogs.
It was late when the young couple arrived at Sirius’s humble apartment, and he led Georgia up two flights of stairs without much event. He fumbled with the keys for a moment before finally unlocking the door and holding it open for Georgia, who stepped in with her luggage.
Sirius’s flat was one of Georgie’s favorite places. It was cozy and always smelled like Sirius; spearmint gum and the aftershave he used. She left her trunk in Sirius’s room, not bothering to unpack before she walked back into the living room and curled up on the couch. Sirius placed an order for pizza before joining her. He pulled Georgia into his lap, his arms resting naturally around her waist as her head found its usual place in his neck.
The two sat like that in silence for a while, not bothering to speak until the buzzer rang and the delivery man arrived with one large cheese pizza. They ate over the sink like the twenty-somethings they were, watching the boats float by on the River Thames until they were full. Sirius wrapped his arms around Georgia’s waist as she nibbled the pizza down to the crust, resting his chin on the crown of her head as the two swayed slightly, and still, no words were spoken.
Suddenly, Sirius swept Georgia up in his arms, making her squeal a little. He smiled. It was the most joyful sound she had made in a while. He carried her into the bedroom and set her down on their bed before looking at the bookshelf in the corner. Quickly, he flicked through his small collection of records before finding the one he wanted and putting it on the record player. The vinyl scratched slightly before Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon” played softly through the room.
Sirius pulled Georgia up, holding her close to his chest as he swayed to the beat, and Georgia met his eyes with the closest thing to happiness he had seen in almost two weeks. The two silently danced through their bedroom, Georgia eventually resorting to standing on Sirius’s feet as he moved since he wouldn’t stop stepping on her toes. The song ended with a small scratch, and Sirius brought a hand up to Georgia’s cheek. He kissed the tip of her nose.
“I’ll take care of you,” he whispered.
“It’s rotten work,” Georgia said back.
Sirius shook his head. “No,” he whispered, watching her eyes very closely. “Not for me. Not if it's you.”

Sirius—
In the unfortunate event that I die, this letter is to be delivered to you via Dorcas. If she’s dead, then I don’t know how this is going to get to you, so I may be wasting my time, which is an annoying thought, but oh well.
Anyway, I shall make my point perfectly clear. Here it is:
TAKE CARE OF GEORGIA.
I don’t care if she’s a pain in my ass. She’s my sister, and to fulfill my dying wish, you WILL take care of her. Understood? Good.
Thanks,
M.M.
P.S. I’m totally haunting you in the afterlife.
P.P.S. Actually, I don’t want to witness you knocking up my sister, so never mind.

Am I thinking of making a Chishiya book? Mayhaps.
Did I impulsively already start writing it already? Yes.
Will it ever see the light of day? It’s a fifty-fifty shot right now.
If I DO end up posting it, would you want to be on the tag list?

⌗ MARAUDERS OC NICKNAME IDEAS!
so, i've made a bunch of oc's for the marauders era in the past, a lot of them being animagi. and it's REALLY hard to come up with ACTUAL good nicknames for them. that's why i decided to make this list. both for myself, in the future, aswell as others who struggle picking the right name
anyways, i always like the name to have something to do with a body part of the animal, as that's what all the boys (except remus) did.
WHISKERS ゚✧
- this one is definetely for a cat.
- honestly, this one's probably the best out of the list. i mean, it checks all of the boxes. it's one of the more recognizable features of a cat, looks good and sounds good
- and it can be used for any cat. if your oc is really mysterious and then prob is a black cat, it fits! if you're a brown/orange cat with a down to earth personality, it fits! if youre a girly girl and a white cat, it fits!
-i lost count of how many times i've used this now.
CROOKSHANKS ✧
- btw, if you dont know what the fuck this name means, because neither did i, crook is bend and shank is the part of the leg from the knee to the ankle. (the words can mean other things in other context tho) anyways yea, thought you should know that lol.
- but so like, i remember reading this fanfiction on wattpad, i think it was actually called crookshanks? (i could be wrong though) but this woman who was james' twin sister is crookshanks (so like crookshanks, hermione's cat is an animagus in secret) and i dont know i was just amazed at how creative it was.
- so basically, what i'm trying to say is: you could have your oc be hermione's cat and like watch over harry and help sirius and idk it's just so genius.
FANGS/FANG ゚✧
- this one can be for both cat like animals and dogs (+ wolfs) OH AND BATS. YEA. I LOVE BATS. (not sure if it's a great animal for an animagous tho)
- and yea yea yea i know it's also the name of hagrid's dog but who cares! people re-use names all the damn time. i mean i swear, in my country, EVERYONE calls their dog max. heck, MY dog is called max
CLAW/CLAWS ゚✧
- the next one could apply to a bunch of different animals since most, or at least a lot, have claws
- it would also be fun to add another word onto it like; hairyclaw, sharpclaw, angelclaw. these are really bad but you get what i mean (sharpclaw slays though.)
CLAWDINE ゚✧
gosh i love this name.
- i'd imagine a female black cat like animal (panther, cat idk just black cat things)
- and i know she'd be so cool in real life aswel. everyone wants to be you, be your friend, date you.
- this name radiates 'that one hot and attractive female every man simps for.' and idk it just makes me excited.
COTTONTAIL ゚✧
- this one is SUPER cute,
- although i'm not sure if it really fits in this post, seeing as it's for a bunny, although maybe you could just use it for different animals too?
- and yea, i know it's a bit like peter's name but who cares! it's just too cute.
FEATHERCLAW ゚✧
- i'd suggest this one for a bird.
- again, not sure if anyone would choose a bird as animagus for their oc (maybe a bigger bird?)
- but like, it's yet another great name
GIGGLES ゚✧
- this one just randomly popped in my head one day. it doesnt refer to an animal's body part.
- but i mean, moony doesnt either so who cares right
- this name would definetely resemble the person's human personality. bubbly, cute girly girl, always smiling and obviously, giggling
MITTEN ゚✧
- just like at the start of this post, i didnt know what this word meant when i first saw it. but it's like a glove where all your fingers except your thumb are together, instead of separated.
- imagine if you have an oc who's known for always being cold, going out in a thick coat and scarf and always has mittens/gloves on.
- and then they'd be a cat animagous so that the boys, ESPECIALLY sirius, can call them kitten 24/7
