#possible child abuse?

Abusive parents will convince you that you're incapable of being independent, when all your life you were nothing but independent. You were growing up and figuring it out and resolving issues and solving problems all on your own because you had no goddamn parents because nobody filled that role for you. You were on your own from the start. Nobody ever enabled you to be anything but independent.

Everyone on this website talks about the choice to not have children to end the terrible cycle of familial abuse or whatever but I feel like nobody on here wants to talk about the more mundane and pressing reality of wanting children but being paralyzed by the understanding that bringing them into our current society inherently means traumatizing them in some small way simply because there are no good options.
Like. Dont want to put a child through public school because public school sucks, but homeschool is isolating and private school is not an option for ppl with no money. Dont want to raise a child with a forced gender but attempting to raise a child neutrally may socially isolate them or cause authorities to question your parenting methods. Don't want to raise a child in an isolated suburb where they have nowhere to travel independantly but affordable housing with ample room for families in city environments are basically nonexistent.
It can be hard not to feel judgemental of yourself for wanting to bring a child into the world at all under these conditions. Unlike with refusing to continue the "cursed bloodline" or whatever, there's just no personal pride one can take in deciding not to have kids because the world would force me to make choices that hurt them irregardless of my desires.

Headcanon that is unfortunately extremely likely...
Trigger Warning: Child Abuse/Child Injury
Tumblr media
It's very possible Todoroki has at one point suffered a radial head subluxation. (i.e. Pulled elbow, nursemaid's elbow, radial head dislocation.)
This is an injury common in toddlers (although it can happen in children as old as 6-7) that occurs when a ligament in the elbow is pulled out of place and partially dislocates the head of the radius or even fractures the elbow in extreme cases.
It's main cause:
Tumblr media
Pulling/yanking at a young child's arm.
...
Disclaimer for clarity: While this injury can certainly be a sign of abuse, this is not always the case. It can also happen accidentally during play or when a parent is trying to keep a child from running off.
This post is just to say that based on the flashbacks of his childhood, Shouto has a greater likelihood of experiencing this in comparison to his siblings. And since it has other non-suspicious causes, it's an injury that could be explained away.

oh I also find it quite interesting how all the protectorate heroes are set on finding a villain scapegoat for The Panacea Incident instead of considering for even a second that they might bear some degree of culpability in the situation. but that would require rewinding to the very beginning and putting long-standing institutions of Civilized Society (heroes, the nuclear family, etc) under enough scrutiny to break all pretense that they serve a greater good. and they are cops. so they won’t ever do that. but LOL.

This was easily one of the best Lupin episodes
#there will be a rant in the tags that you can ignore#but it is so upsetting how modern/current lupin took away the depths of these characters and flimsily tries to restore their earlier depth#i'm one of those people who craves depth in what i watch and it's so difficult to like this franchise because it will be so close to doing#something interesting only to abandon it#this episode and part one as a whole was peak lupin in my opinion with each character having emotional depth yet flaws to overcome#yet modern lupin would have you believe that these characters don't desire to improve in any capacity#if we were to just focus on Goemon for example right here he shows depth with revealing hidden emotional maturity and empathy for Lupin by#comforting him and admitting he himself is afraid (which is a big deal for a character like him who is supposed to be unflinching)#but in modern lupin goemon will literally say that he's not afraid of anything and this is written without any hint of irony or depth#i'm okay with mindless entertainment and i understand that this is a series simply about stealing but the character assassination is so#disappointing#and when this series does try to be “deep” they pick the most triggering subject matter possible to depict to the point where it's#practically unwatchable (this is in reference to Part 4 and its constant SA plots as well as the rampant gratuitous child abuse plots#throughout the entire series)#i want so badly to love lupin the 3rd but it's a huge problem when fanfiction understands the characters better than the source material#lupin iii#lupin the third#lupin the 3rd#goemon ishikawa xiii#goemon#arsene lupin iii#jigen daisuke#daisuke jigen#fujiko mine#part 1

When you're a small child, your abusive parents seem omnipotent to you. They are the highest authority you've known, they know everything and can do anything, mostly including hurting you if you don't do as you are told. They make you believe that they can read your mind and know your thoughts, and that they're impossible to escape from, they'll follow you to the ends of earth and drag you back into their house.
It's normal for small children, with no point of reference, to believe their parents omnipotent, but as they grow up, learn how things work in life, find references to how children are made and raised and what parents are responsible for - they grow out of it. They start to understand the limitations of parents, and often make use of them. They know that parents can't do or know everything, they can keep secrets, tell their little white lies, and they're not intimidated by parents because parents are not a threat to them, but figures of care and safety, people who they can go to when they're in trouble or in need of safety.
Abusive parents, however, work very hard to carry that imposing, omnipotent, oppressive illusion of them deep into adulthood. They will insist that neither you nor any authority or law can control or stop them, if they've decided on something. They'll show you by example, by manipulating people around them, sometimes even people of authority, that no matter what, they'll get their way. They'll want you to feel helpless, powerless and isolated whenever you want to oppose them. They'll manipulate your own point of view, and insist you have to see them in positive light, or else. They'll convince you that even thoughts that they don't approve of, are a sin, and that you could be punished for it. That there's nowhere to run, nobody who would believe you or help you, that you have no other choice but to submit to their will.
They wouldn't be able to impose such illusion on anyone except a child, and then the adult they've been grooming from very early age to believe these things to be eternal truths that cannot be questioned. And this is a part of what makes abusive parents so terrifying; they can go above some authority with the power of manipulation, they can lie their way out of crimes, they can gaslight and convince their victims it's their fault or it didn't happen, they regularly do and get away with this. Anyone watching that unfolding would be in trepidation of them, and hyper-aware of how dangerous these individuals are.
But, they are not omnipotent. They do not know what anyone is thinking. They do not know things outside their little bubble. If you go to a location they don't know of, and nobody can tell them, they cannot find out. They cannot predict your thoughts or actions as well as they try to convince you they can. They cannot change reality, they cannot erase what happened, and they cannot keep you imprisoned against your will your whole life. It is pretty hard on them, actually, to try and keep controlling an adult who has a mind of their own - that's why they're putting so much energy into trying to make their children into people without any thoughts of their own. But that's impossible.
Think about all the times they're really flying into rage, yelling and screaming and convincing you that something is right or wrong for you. How hard they go at changing your mind when you're thinking something that doesn't go to their benefit. Lot of effort on their part just to change your train of thoughts, isn't it? But if they were omnipotent, your thoughts would be no threat to them. If you were simply 'wrong', why would it even matter? An omnipotent being would simply shrug and not care.
They work extremely hard to change what's in your mind, because that's the only way they can keep that illusion of goodness and omnipotence. If you're allowed to think for yourself, to make your own conclusions, to believe your senses and point out what is logical, then their entire charade falls into nothing, it becomes obvious they're nothing but skilled liars and their power of manipulation is how they maintain everything else in life. It also becomes obvious how cruel and immoral their lies are, and how much damage they do to everyone around them.
They don't want you to see the limits because the limits show they're only good at terrifying and brainwashing children, not anything beyond that. You can get away from them to a place they can't follow. You can escape their cruelty and mind control. You can gain freedom. Your thoughts can be your own. You are allowed and able of keeping secrets from them. You can withhold information and opinions from them. You can lie to them. You can deceive them and trick them in order to get away. They have no legal right to you. You do not owe them anything. Their power ends the second they can't find or contact you.

Dazai and Chuuya both have PTSD stemming from childhood abuse
"I think in the PM they're the only one who can calm the other during an episode. They don't know how to handle their emotions and probably try to push the other away so they don't have to face the reality that what happened to them happened to someone else. They hate eachother because they cope in different ways, they hate that the other had to suffer. Regardless they always come back to eachother because they're the only people who underatand."

The divider is of the flag used in both images but turned into a gradient.

this being the first theory battler has lampshaded and discarded as a joke is making me extremely 👁
#umineko liveblog#like. everything else has been taken seriously even when it's stupid#but this is outright dismissed the second it's mentioned. surely not..........#ough but wait. the possibility of the captive beatrice falling pregnant is rather high#and there are several plausible scenarios with which a hidden child could work#i mean if we go full cliche then the answer here is that nanjo somehow helped beatrice hide the child#making him like double compromised with kinzo. almost like a moral stalemate even#also given the date the mansion was built we can assume this kid would be in their early/mid 30s present day#only known candidate on rokkenjima who fits the criteria would be rosa but that doesn't really makes sense#either that or gohda is a good 10-15 years younger than you'd think he is#but then i'm thinking about the ushiromiya shannon stuff and wondering if there isn't an orphanage link#not that shannon's the beatrice child because she's 15 years too young for that#but perhaps the kid was concealed in the orphanage and this is where the furniture stuff comes in?#every single servant kid is less than human unless they prove themselves to be a worthy substitute for the lost child#and the abuse comes from the fact that they also bear the brunt of kinzo's rage at this kid for having slipped out of his grasp#and of course none of the servant children can ever compare to kinzo's ideal so the cycle perpetuates forever#furniture in that they're being punished for not innately being an ushiromiya successor#this also feeds into the beatrice/kinzo becoming stuff too at a slightly different angle#the children are brought on expected to carry fragments of both beatrice and kinzo and tormented when they fail to do so#meanwhile i genuinely think if a beatrice kid existed they would presently be extremely far removed from rokkenjima#like some random well adjusted adult who knows very little of their origins#meaning that even if kinzo ever found this person they too would not be a fitting ushiromiya successor#yeah i think there might be some potential for this kind of theory

So, this is one of my early morning brain ideas that I haven't been able to shake. I will definitely write this fic at some point, but I have other works to complete first. I'm hoping that by writing this out here and posting it that, this will be enough to let me concentrate on my main projects again.
This is a DickJay Black Butler fusion fic. You DO NOT have to know anything about Black Butler to enjoy this. Please mind the tags. This is a little dark.
Jason is an abused child living in the Alley, which is a complete hellhole. But this is Jason, so he has a heart of pure gold. One day, he finds himself in a serious situation while trying to help another kid.
It is incredibly BAD.
The situation is utterly hopeless, and Jason is just so scared and righteously furious. He wants to be saved, and he wants these monsters to face justice for their cruelty and evil.
Time freezes and Dick steps out of the shadows.
He has been watching Jason for years. The boy is his. In body, and in soul.
Dick will save him.
Just as soon as he convinces him to make his deal.
———
Dick isn't Jason's butler. He is his big brother fallen guardian angel. He protects Jason and takes care of him, and if anyone crosses him, they die horribly.
Jason is someone who has spent their entire life surrounded by evil but has stayed pure. That makes him incredibly special.
Dick wants ALL of him.
As part of their contract Jason has to 'feed' Dick. To do this he has to give him some form of intimacy. Dick keeps it to small things like hugs, chaste kisses, and cuddling.
He isn't ready to corrupt Jason's purity, yet.
Bruce is a combination of a priest and a supernatural detective. He runs into Jason and tries to save him but his interference ultimately gets him killed. This means that Dick ends up failing his contract and can't collect Jason's soul.
Dick is livid. Crushed
Then, beyond anyone's explanation, Jason comes back.
No memories and completely free of his contract with Dick.
When Jason comes back, he's changed. When he comes back, he is even more mouth-wateringly delicious.
To every single supernatural creature out there.
(Dick has a shit ton of competition.)
You would think this would drive Jason to the protection Dick is offering him, right?
But Dick wants his soul?!?!
Jason thinks he might need that. So, no. Thank you for the offer, but no thank you.
Jason goes to an orphanage run by a church instead.
Holy intervention.
At this point, Jason is overwhelmed and terrified but also just so exasperated and done with this shit.
He has every nightmare creature in existence trying to torment and eat him.
Then there is Dick, the super hot demon that wants his soul...and maybe his body? He's not too clear on that. And Dick maybe wants to eat him too.
Then there is some old creep following him around, talking about how he failed Jason in a past life and how Jason is his greatest failure. It's super uncomfortable. He keeps trying to give him what looks like satanic jewelry.
He is not going to piss off the nuns and priests by wearing that.
The staff at the church has called the police on Bruce at least eleven times at this point. He has been put in jail eight of those times. He keeps getting out and going right back to the church. He won't fail Jason again.
Dick can't enter the church grounds, but he is always around. When Jason looks out a window, Dick is there. When he is outside, Dick is by the fence nearest him. When he has to leave the church grounds for whatever reason, Dick is already waiting by the gates for him and follows him until he returns to the church. Like with most of the other supernatural creatures, nobody but Jason can see or even hear Dick.
It would be creepy, like with Bruce, but Dick is never watching him or even really looking his way. He's just always there. It feels like protection. Like a guardian angel. If angels were dark and evil.
During one of his outings, something tries to attack Jason, and Dick rips it apart with his bare hands. He is covered in the creature's blood, and Jason doesn't think he's ever looked more beautiful.
It's the first time Jason wonders if maybe he doesn't belong in the church. If maybe there is something wrong with him.
And Jason is just getting so tired of living like this.
Would it really be so bad to belong to Dick?
The thing is, Jason is stubborn and unbreakably determined when he sets his mind to it. He will never just give in.
But Jason has forgotten something important. Something he learned in a past life as a young child and knew very well.
Evil isn't just supernatural monsters.
When the gang attacks, it's just for the sake of senseless violence and cruelty. There is nothing at the church or the attached orphanage worth the invasion. This is just for their sick amusement.
There are a lot of them. They aren’t just destroying the property. They are attacking the staff and the children. Jason keeps waiting for Dick to come. He has always protected him and, by extension, the people with him, but Dick isn't showing up.
Then Jason remembers. Dick can't enter the church grounds, even if he wants to.
Their violence just keeps getting worse and more and more depraved. Right as it's peaking and Jason doesn't think he can take one more moment, something in him snaps.
Jason is more than scared. He is both terror and horrified, but he is also righteously furious. He wants to be saved, and he wants these monsters to face justice for their cruelty and evil.
Something in his soul seems to resonate.
Jason calls for Dick.
Time freezes, and his unholy angel steps out of the shadows.
He is furious.
Dick crouches down in front of him. Even though Dick has never been the largest person, his presence always fills up whatever space he is in. Now isn't any different. Despite the horrors frozen in time and on display around them, Jason's eyes are riveted on Dick. He can't look away, and his entire world narrows down to just him. Somehow, Jason knows this is on purpose.
They make a deal, and it is so easy to do. Not just because it's not difficult but because it's so familiar. That familiarity makes it comfortable.
Dick seals it with a kiss, and Jason feels it in every fiber of his being.
He belongs to Dick now, and that is familiar too.
Dick manipulates the shadows, and the darkness becomes silk in his hands. He wraps the fabric around Jason's eyes and tells him to wait there for him. Then, he starts his own massacre. Jason can't see it, but he can still hear it happening. Dick isn't quick about it either. Jason can tell just by the sounds that Dick isn't just killing them. He's tormenting them, having fun as he makes them suffer.
Jason doesn't feel any pity.
Eventually, things go silent around him. There isn't any warning before it happens, but Jason doesn't even startle when Dick sweeps him up. Dick holds him tightly but gently against his chest. Like Jason is someone infinitely precious and fragile.
He still hasn't removed the blindfold, and Jason won't until he is told he can. So he trails his hands up Dick's broad chest and shoulders, up the column of his neck, until he has his face cradled between his hands. Jason kisses him. He doesn't really know how to kiss, so it's just a press of his lips to Dick's. It's unbearably sweet in its innocence. Dick makes a low sound of appreciation deep in his chest. It almost sounds like a growl.
Dick takes him home. Jason doesn't remember having a home, but Dick tells him this is where they live, and Jason believes him. Over the next several days, Jason begins to get his memories back. Once it begins, it happens quickly. He is certain that it is somehow Dick's doing. He would want Jason to remember all the time that he has belonged to him, and he would want All of Jason. Past and present.
Jason is sitting curled up on his bed. Knees pulled tight to his chest as if that will somehow protect him even when it didn't before.
"I died," Jason whispers into the dark of the early morning.
"Yes," Dick says emotionlessly. His face is a blank mask, but Jason knows him so much better now, and that blankness tells him a hundred things.
"I don't blame you. I never did," he says it like a promise, and it is one.
Dick closes his eyes, but Jason can see the pain he is trying to hide.
He stretches his arms out to the creature that has become his everything.
"Can I have a hug?" Do you want a hug?
Dick climbs up onto the bed almost tentatively. It's so strange because Jason has never known him to be unsure about anything. They stay there curled up around each other for a long time. The sun is well and truly risen, and light is pouring in through the windows by the time Dick tries to pull him up out of bed. Jason resists, instead pulling Dick back down to him.
"Our contract is different this time," Jason says. When they had made their contract the first time, Dick had stated all the rules and conditions plainly and straightforward. This last time, there was so much backtalk, and it was so utterly convoluted that Jason hadn't had a hope in hell to actually understand what he was agreeing to.
"Yes," Dick replies.
"Why?"
"Because I know so much better this time what exactly it is that I want." Dick rolls on top of him and holds his face. His gaze is intense, and Jason can't look away. His words are soft, practically soundless. “I am going to take you with me wherever the tides of time carry us, and I am going to keep you forever. Until the end of everything.”

Thank you for saying that omg!! I’ve seen so many posts calling Kendall a killer in a good way. Kendall knows exactly what stories Hugo wants to leak. He mentioned physical and emotional abuse and Kendall immediately looked at Roman uncomfortably. Obviously abuse is abuse no matter the form it takes and we can’t say anyone one sibling and it worse. But when someone leaks to the press that someone physically and emotionally abused his children, it’s the physical abuse the press will latch onto and will stand out in the public imagination. Ken knows by doing this he’s selling romans trauma to boost his position as CEO. The leaks also will support Kendall’s previous accusations against his father. Kendall won’t look like a liar who overcompensated his fathers involvement in cruises if Logan is exposed as a child abuser. Kendall will look once again like the fighter of the good fight
yeah exactly!!! like he certainly is pulling a logan move and it is exciting to see his little rabbit-like I’m Evil Now smile again but i haven’t seen like anything talking about the possible implications that action could have on the other sibs…. like the criticisms of it i’ve seen have all been focused on the fact that he betrayed rome/shiv but not so much the actual content of the betrayal itself and how much it could genuinely like ruin roman’s life in particular. roman who can’t even admit his father’s abuse to himself especially not right now when dad just DIED suddenly being thrown to the fucking wolves where every tabloid in the world will be like Roman? More Like “Oh Man!” This Woman Who Babysat Roman Once Spills All The Torrid Details Of The Time Logan Punted His Youngest Son Across The Room! like it will be fucking AWFUL !! ken will be a hero shiv will be pitied (altho she’ll fucking hate that fr) roman will be dragged through the fucking dirt and turned into a prop against logan and his legacy. roman would literally never be anything else in the eyes of the public. wouldn’t matter what he did going forward, he could fucking cure cancer, and interviewers will still ask like “what would you say to your father who beat you if he could see you now?” “how did your father’s abuse make you decide to cure cancer?” “are you still in touch with your other siblings who your dad didn’t hit? did your resentment of them spur you to cure cancer?” “did you decide to go into healthcare because you spent your childhood in hospitals from your dad’s beatings?” ….. dude not to be dramatic but i would fucking kill myself

I've been having a severe PTSD episode for over five hours and it never registered because spending half the day in helpless fits of obsessive, murderous, paralysing rage is the nothing out of the ordinary for me. "Oh, I'm just an angry person like that" yes because I'm constantly triggered, retriggered and retraumatized by living disabled and dependent on Satan, who happens to be my egg donor.
It doesn't seem like I'll ever really internalise that these rages are PTSD episodes, especially since I'm a woman and therefore socially conditioned not to harm anyone except myself (that's a privilege reserved for six foot cis het men in charge of families who do the traumatizing). But in case it does anyone else good to hear: you aren't an "angry person". You have Complex PTSD. The rage outs are the exact equivalent of panic attacks and disassociation that Hollywood likes to show. The need to FIGHT is as a visceral, animal, instinctive and uncontrollable as the need for flight, to fawn, or to freeze. You aren't angry. You're fucking terrified and trapped and very, very ill.

I was sketching Ezra backstory stuff and I seem to have ended on some more angsty stuff dated to not long before the campaign began
Note: Elijah is the false name they used while in hiding
Their body was badly scarred before the first time the Regenerate spell was used on them. Needless to say, they were thrilled to no longer look at themself in the mirror to be reminded of the abuse they endured
The little talking bat is Ezra's best friend, a druid who was stuck wildshaped as a bat for 7 years which suffered memory loss and has since got his form and memories back
