Hello all! For my thesis I’m doing research about how introverts and extraverts work in a school setting. During a couple of conversations I learned quite quickly that the current school system is mostly aimed to accomodate extraverted students. (I’m mostly talking about the 21st century skills, which are a staple in the school system in the netherlands at the moment. These skills are aimed at social behaviour, leadership etc.) So I have a couple of questions, if you read this and you have the time could you please help me out? Thanks in advance!
Do you consider yourself an introvert/extravert?
Were there classes that made you uncomfortable? If so why?
If you could pick your seat, where would you be seated?
What way of being examined did you prefer (written, quizzed etc.)?

Hey, so recently I have been having a hard time managing symptoms. I got into a lot of trouble at school for being too chatty, and since then i have found it impossible to self regulate- either zoning out and isolating myself entirely or being extremely hyperactive. Has anyone had a similar experience and is there a way to find an in between? Thank you!
Hi there.
I am not a talking adhd person so I don't have tips for that.
Here are some stim things you can do which i have done.
1). Very small jar of playdough it is like a couble a tablespoon size (or silly putty but i feel like that looks like gum). Make sure to keep it in your hand and don't play with it on your desk.
2) try and doodle in class. Nothing elaborate. I usually draw triangles in a pattern.
3) write notes. If i am having a hard time paying attention i will start writing things down or things the teacher is writing.
4) repeat what they are saying in your head. Yhis i have a hard time with ( i get bored). But when i just can't focus it is a stim.
There is also plenty of fidget jewelry and such that you can purchase or make so your hands have something to do while you are trying to focus. I believe there is a stim tag on thr page. Of not, search it on tumblr.
In termsbod managing, do a self check . are ypu eating enough?
Are you sleeping at least 8 hours ( or whatever your body needs)
Do you have more stress than normal ?
How are your hormones ? If you are a person with a period, a period tracker can be helpful as adhd and hormones don't mix well. If you are a person who does not menstrate look into the hormone cycle for your body there might be a connection.
Also check your anxietyl, if you are having a higher level of anxiety about talkimg in class you might be subconsciously zoning out to prevent that from happening again. ( you can't get in trouble for talking if you are ignoring the people around you).
Finally, if you are on meds, when was the last time they were adjusted ? Do you need to go back to your doctor ? .l
There is a great app called adda ( i think) and it helps you map your moods and your symptoms so you can see trends and stuff. It also has medication reminder.
If you are comfortable in doing so, perhaps talk to your teachers/s. If you have a 504/ IEP, they already know you have adhd. Maybe you can open that line of communication with them. See if there is something they can do to help. ( move your seat allow you take breaks etc). Obviously this would be a good time to also talk to your case manager. I know that having a trusted teacjer or people at school is not always realistic.
^ if you use a tool from above and find that it isbreally helpful but a teacher gives you a hard time about it, gp to your case manager/ parent and say that you want to add an accomodation to your plan. You have the right to ask for that. ( it might have to be your parent as well depending on your age).
Also check out some of my other asks. They might be of help as well. It is still early in the year so you might still be adjusting back into school mode.

Online School Help
I hope everyone who reads this is having a fairly easy time with online school, but if you aren’t hopefully some of these tips will help you out! A lot of people struggle to get started on schoolwork, which can lead them to fall behind. In this case, a reward system may be used to put in place. Think of something that might help you to relax after a long, hard day of school work. Perhaps, that could be your reward after working so long and hard. For me, a nice relaxing bath, or even something as simple as music is always something I look forward to when I finish my school work. Sometimes, though, a reward system doesn’t work though. This means you might have to just do it. If you just do your work, you’ll be able to have it out of the way, and accomplished much quicker, whereas if you don’t do your work, you could fail a class and have to retake it. Retaking the class only means that the hard work you did put in goes to waste, and you’ll have to redo all of the assignments that took you days, maybe even weeks to do. More motivation techniques can be found on this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Lt89RHVxTQ .
Another good way to get work done is to make a schedule for everything you want to do daily. My schedule is similar to my school’s schedule, in the sense that I’m setting aside seven hours of work, with time in between for the online classes I have to go to. This is beneficial outside of just schoolwork as well and can help you keep a routine workout or diet plan, and set a sleep schedule. For example, if you want to wake up at 8 am every day, a good bedtime would be 10 pm, because that’s 10 hours of sleep you’ll be getting, where you’ll definitely feel refreshed. Within the one hour you have before that bed time, you can set aside time for a shower, a nightly routine, etc.  This link has more valuable information on how to put together a schedule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtvxCIxcrBE

Guns on the streets on in school? Better funding for education, schools can hire trained security guards🤔 what do you think? Protesters in Fort Lauderdale chanted "shame on you", referring to US lawmakers and President Donald Trump. Silly Mistakes
I have internal exams coming up at my school and I’m really concerned about the number of stupid mistakes I’m making! I understand all the material, but the marks I lose due to stupid mistakes are dragging me down a couple grades. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to battle silly mistakes due to lack of focus. I have multiple exams on the same day and I really don’t want my grades to be dragged down because of mistakes I’m making. If anyone has any tips I’d greatly appreciate it!
Sorry posted it too soon and my apologies for not responding sooner. I had a hard time with this question so i would really value feedback from the community on this one.
The best advice i could give is
1) write down the process/ make a checklist. For each and every step. Number it. Then also write out a blank one. Each time you do a math problem you write each step on the notecard. 1.write down the problem 2.do the work 3.move the decimal points 4. Do something else 5.convert it back to wherever. (I'm not a math person).
Then write the blank 1______ 2______3_____4_____5_____ .
If it is not math or step related and you are missing a lot of ailly things on papers. I would take a copy of the assignment. Either print the entire thing or cut and past it into a new document and print that. Then highlight each area or section. Same thing write it out. 1strong central clause 2)12 sources 3)apa style 4)12 pages. Etc. You are reducing the amount of energy that you and the distractions by narrowing all the key information on one page.
.secomd thing:
Breathe. Literally breathe. Because when we get ibto that hyper everything has to move and all hands on deck mode, shit is going to go unnoticed because we are in fight or flight. So breathe. Write a checklist of what you have left to do. Take a two min walk down the hall. Look out the window and get back to it.
Third. Talk your professor in graduate school i got like a c on a paper (which is like an d/f for some reason.). Because i made a mistake with thr number of sources i used. ((Too many outside not enough inclass sources)). I talked to him about it and he let me make the changes.
With this. Your professors need to know you. So maybe next Semester make an attempt to talk at least once jn everyclass etc. So the professor knows that you are a good student. You just make "silly mistakes". Which i know is soul crushing to reduce mental illness to that but here we are.
Next semester after each assignments go back to the professors and ask to go over it with them. I promise you it will make a difference.
Also, see if you can talk to disability services. Maybe there is an accomodation that can be made. Like giving you an extension om due dates or something.
You are almost there. Keep going.
