Arachnophobia is a bitch

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"

When that scream echoed through Erebor everyone freezed for a moment. The dwarfs didn't know who that was, and, more importantly, they didn't know the cause.

Then they continued on with doing what they had been doing, because what else could they do?

A few dwarfes though knew exactly who that had been and had already stormed off to their room.

"Balin! Go get the guards, tell them to have their weapons ready!", Thorin yelled while running up the stairs to the highest floor.

Balin nodded and took off.

"Dwalin, I want you to make sure that everyone is in a safe space!", his friend also nodded and took care of some dwarfs who had also been going up or down the stairs first.

Now, Thorin was left alone with his rapidly beating heart and racing thoughts about what had happened.

Was his husband in danger? How could there possibly be a gap in their safety system? And who just broke in? Did (Y/N) have any weapons on him? Did something bad already happen to him?

The dwarf quickened his steps even more and ran through the hallways which seemed to be a lot longer than what he had in mind.

He already had his sword out, ready to sent some heads rolling if someone touched his partner.

He finally reached the door to his and (Y/N)'s shared bedroom and almost sent it flying across the floor when he 'opened' it by throwing himself against it sideways with a loud scream.

When he was in the room he couldn't see anybody besides (Y/N) sitting on their bed, tensed up and looking like he shit his pants.

"Thorin, finally!", he exclaimed and pointed to the floor "There's a spider!"

His husband looked at him in a confused way and let his sword sink.

"I thought you were in danger!", he said, openly annoyed about the fact that (Y/N), a man who had fought in many wars, was acting like this towards an insect.

"I AM!", his husband answered in shock "The danger's sitting on the floor!"

Then they heard feet tapping on the floor, coming their way and the rustling of metal.

"What's this?", (Y/N) asked, Thorin sighed and put his sword away entirely this time "The guards."

Which now swarmed in the room, Balin first, all ready to fight god.

But they were stopped in their enthusiasm when they saw no one or nothing to hurt or even kill.

"Thorin, where is the danger?", Balin asked and the king pointed to the floor in a sarcastic way. Balin looked at the spider, then at (Y/N), then back at Thorin.

"Are you serious?", he finally asked the second king who was still sitting on the bed, legs brought up to his chest, arms slung around it.

"Yes. Obviously. And if you would be that kind - I would like it very much if you removed that demon from my floor."

Thorin gestured for the guards to go, who said nothing but had some amused smiles on their faces.

"I'll take care of that, my friend.", he told the older dwarf, who left with a last lift of an eyebrow towards (Y/N).

Thorin got down to his knees and picked the little animal up with the tip of his sword, he took it outside on the hallway where it quickly crawled away.

Then Thorin got back to his bedroom, where (Y/N) was smiling widely "My hero!", he gave him a big open mouthed smile and Thorin gave a little one back in return.

He went to the side of the bed and kissed his husband on the top of his head.

"Please don't scare me again like this."

"I'll try.", (Y/N) chuckled "But we'll see what my arachnophobia will have to say about that."

"I didn't know you had arachnophobia.", Thorin said with a little concern in his voice.

"Yeah, it's bad again since the spiders in Thranduil's forest..."

"I'm sorry you had to go thrugh that, my love.", the king said softly and touched (Y/N)'s cheek.

"Nah, it's fine.", (Y/N) smiled up to him.

"For you I'll happily pick up fights with spiders.", Thorin joked.

"Thank you, I really appreciate it."

i’ve a request, could u write kili durin x male!reader where the reader asks to braid kilis hair not realising that it’s courtship in the dwarfish culture. kíli has the biggest crush on the reader and takes this as a sign that the reader likes him back. the reader did not realise that’s what braiding a dwarfs hair means and was also totally oblivious to kilis crush on him and never noticed he was flirting and always assumed he was just very friendly, but obviously the reader likes kili back and it’s just total fluff 😋😋

Braids and Courting

Kili Durin X Gn Elf Reader

Being an elf wasn't as great as some beings would think. Of course with being an elf there was skills you had to learn, that were useful. The long and beautiful hair, the soft skin, the pointed ears and the youthful look. All those were great of course.

What wasn't that great was being part of the higher class elves. This meant that eventually you would have to marry and usually you didn't love the person next to you. It was just part of the routine in everyone's life. However you didn't want to wake up next to someone that didn't love you. Or someone you didn't love.

So that's exactly why you left home when you did. It wasn't long before you met Gandalf the Wizard. Him knowing who you were of course, because that man had a lot of knowledge after all his years of living. He had stayed with you for a bit, and it didn't take him long until he invited you to join the group. Of course you could never say no to an adventure so you agreed.

That's exactly how you ended up right here. You had been with the group of dwarfs for a long while now. Even before the hobbit came along and joined you guys.

You were fairly close with fili and thorin, those two were like your best friends. The others you were like a family with except for one. Kili who was filis brother, he was someone you felt strong feelings for. Feelings that go past platonic or familiar feelings. No these were feelings of love, however you never knew how to express these types of feelings because you never really saw it being done.

Over the span of time there had been many moments where Kili had done very sweet things. Things that made your heart pound and your stomach feel weird but of course you thought it was just him being friendly.

Walking around with Thorin in comfortable silence as you both looked for another path was interrupted when you hear someone join you. Turning to look who it was you saw Kili beside you. He looked up at you and held out some berries. "here I had a feeling you would be getting a bit hungry around this time. Have some of these, I have extra"

He grabs your hand and places the berries in your hand. "thank you but don't you need them?" Kili shakes his head "No take them" he squeezes your hand gently before walking back towards his brother. Leaving the quiet thank you that left your lips just drifting into the air.

It was too dark to see the faintest of smile form on Thorin's lips as you go back beside him and eat the berries that Kili had given you.

There had been many times like this

There was one day when all of you had found a big field of flowers. You were so focused on drawing the scene. You liked to draw pretty things and so you were sitting by a tree drawing on a piece of parchment with a pencil you had brought.

In fact you were so focused you didn't even notice how Kili had been picking flowers and making you a flower crown. Eventually when he was finished he came and sat next to you. You rested your head on his shoulder for just a second before looking over at him "hi Kili"

Just the sound of his name coming from your lips made him smile. "hi y/n" he replied before grabbing the flower crown he had made you. "here put this on. Have to see if it fits"

You lower your head a bit so he could place it on your head. It fit perfectly and when you sit back up and look at him. He smiles and nods "perfect, it looks good on you" You smile and blush very softly. "thank you" he nods and walks away.

When he is a good distance away his brother. Your best friend comes and sit on the other side of you. "how long are you going to be blind to the fact that my brother is infatuated with you?" The shocked look on your face makes him laugh. "what? what do you mean, infatuated?"

He looks at you and sighs "You cant tell me you havent noticed the way he always makes you things and gives you things. Always making sure your cared for" Your silent for a moment before it all comes together. "oh"

Fili places his hand on your shoulder "i will let you decide what to do with this information" He gets up and walks away leaving you to think about what to do.

Kili had made something for you and given you things so you decide you should do something for him. You've recently noticed that he has been pushing his hair out of his face more frequently than normal so you decide you would braid his hair for him. Just so its out of his face.

You get up after putting your things away back into your bag. Then begin to walk over to where Kili is. When you get to him he notices you right away and looks at you. "hey Kili. Could you come sit with me for a moment?" He nods and walks with you and sits against the tree next to you.

"everything okay?" he asks a little worried but when you give him a nod and take a breath to calm yourself. "would you mind if I did your hair. I've noticed you pushing it out of your face a lot recently and id like to help?" He looks at you for a moment before turning around.

"what are you going to do with it?" He asks

"i'm just going to braid it. I promise I will make it look good" you reply

Kili looks straight ahead so you don't see the smile that's forming on his face. In the dwarf culture braiding hair is a sign of courtship. He didn't know if you knew that or not but either way he decided to play it cool. Not wanting to make you uncomfortable and you stop.

You kneel behind him on your knees to get in a more comfortable position. Then you begin to gently get all of his hair and pushing it back so you can split it into three sections. Once its in three sections you begin to twist them all with each other, braiding his hair very nicely.

Kili was sitting there patiently not saying much. But you do notice the way he rests his head against your hands. His whole body seems to relax under your touch and a sigh escapes him when you begin to gently massage his shoulders.

When you are finally finished you pull away and he turns around and looks at you. "thank you" he says and you nod. "you look very handsome Kili. I hope you will let me do it again sometime"

He nods and brings your hand up to kiss the back of it. "of course, you are the only one ill let touch my hair." You smile and nod "great ill be honoured" when the both of you get up and go your separate ways Kili gets a few looks since most of them know what this means.

You on the other hand are pulling your bag back over your shoulders. Doing your own thing, when Thorin walks up to you. "y/n" he says which causes you to look over at him. "Thorin"

Thorin looks at Kili and then back to you. "i'm assuming that you are the one that braided his hair?" You nod in response "yes I am, is that a problem?" He shakes his head "no of course not. I just have one question, Do you know that braiding a dwarfs hair means you are courting them?"

A smile forms on your face, no second thoughts are needed. "I know that now. And I find myself rather pleased that people will know that the both of us are together" Thorin smiles and nods placing his hand on your shoulder. "well its about time" he jokes a bit.

This causes you to smile and decide to tease him back. "how about you and the hobbit? When will you two decide to court each other" Thorin blushes very lightly and shakes his head "I don't know what you mean by that"

"mhm sure you dont" you say with a smirk before walking up to Kili. This time instead of standing beside him, you slip your hand into his and hold onto it. From that day on everyone knew that the two of you were spoken for.

the part where i talk about fanfics...

okay, this is, not difficult for me to talk about, but i know people are touchy about this subject - so i'm just going to say it:

If a fanfiction is not your cup of tea, then don't read it!

it is quite a simple thing to do for most people, however, there is a lot of readers/fandom explorers who go in to read a piece of fanfiction and then hate on it because:

"i headcanon X as gay, so shipping them with Y reader is a no"

"you can only ship X with Y, no other ships or reader inserts or self inserts are valid

"he doesn't like women or she doesn't like men" and vice versa

this is very apparent in most fandoms, dead or thriving, where a character is, in the majority, is headcanoned as something, but there is a minority that doesn't agree.

for example, in the mcu fandom, a lot of people headcanon Steve Rogers aka Captain America, as bisexual. personally, i do not, but i don't go out of my way to hate on people who read the male reader fanfics or the Stucky (Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes) fics - i've read some and a lot of them are great, tbh.

personally, i like to read and/or write gender neutral reader fics and that is honestly the comfort zone for me - but i know people will disagree and enjoy more gender aligned fics (male or female)

but i digress - in short, let people read what they want to read, if you disagree or do not support a headcanon/ship/trope, please don't ruin the day of enjoyers.

let's not ban certain takes on characters - the world has other worries

° Thorin at first is still recovering from his injuries, you and Bilbo have to practically tie him down so he'll rest because he kept wanting to help in the garden, making food, unpacking, everything.

° Bilbo insisted you two get your own armchairs, it was very important to him that you and Thorin had a lovely place to sit and read, or smoke.

° Thorin really enjoys gardening, he gets pretty competitive about it to!! He'll grumble sometimes about how his vegetables are far better than a neighbors, that he took better care of his garden than them. You and Bilbo find it adorable

° hearing you and Thorin sing is absolutely something Bilbo loves, he'll sit in his living room, on his beloved armchair, just listening to your songs fill his home. It's precious to him and he has no problem letting you and Thorin know that

° the biggest thing was having to get a new bed for you all to comfortably sleep on!!! The first few weeks had a lot of sleepless nights caused by accidentally elbowing each other, yours and Thorins beards getting in Bilbos face, as well as trying to be careful with Thorins injuries.

° Bilbo did get a much bigger bed, you all have plenty of room to lay comfortably but of course you still cuddle, Bilbo quite likes being snuggled between the two of you, despite him complaining about your beards being scratchy at times.

° the other hobbits are really confused by you and Thorin but are polite, it's just not common to see dwarves everyday but they adjust. And they definitely like how you guys party!

° also when Frodo is born, he has three uncles now and he brags about it when he's a little kid. Frodo will be like "oh yeah well uncle Thorin was actually a king so we're rich :3" "all my uncles fought a dragon and survived!"

° he's you three's biggest fan and loves braiding Thorins hair, and yours if it's long enough!

Thorin x husband!dwarf!reader fluff

A/N: Since there's not much hobbit x male!reader stories, I decided to write some for you guys. I'm actually super nervous about posting this, since it's my first time writing fluff with Thorin. So please go easy on me and remember english is not my native language, but I still hope you lads enjoy this super cheesy short fluff.

"Are you coming to bed, Âmralime?" you heard the deep voice of husband say.

You were immersed in a book, you had recently bought. It was a very simple story nothing spectacular. But you had waited for an exciting plot to happend. It had been nearly 2 hours and nothing really occured. You decided to close the book bound in brown leather and turned your (h/c) head to your husband awaiting your response.

"I'm coming, my love," you answerd him.

Slowly, but surely you made your way towards your bed. Taking your shoes off first before getting under the covers. You were already wearing your comfortable nightgown.

It was night time outside, stars were shining bright and a soft, cold breeze coming through the window made you shiver a little.

"You're shivering husband, come Ghivashel, let me warm you up," Thorin offered.

"Being in your presence alone makes me already feel warmer," you whispered towards him.

You weren't normally so sweet, being a strong dwarven warrior and all, but in the presence of your husband you can't help but let out more of your soft side the others rarely got to see.

Your husband smiled at you. His bright and white teeth being visible. It was a very genuine smile and it made your heart flutter. Oh how you loved your husband's gorgeous smile and his beautiful bright blue eyes which shined even brighter everytime he looked at you.

"What did I do, to deserve such a handsome husband as you, (Y/N)" Thorin spoke softly.

You chucked, feeling the heat rush to your bearded face.

"And I wonder how did I get so lucky. Married to such a fine dwarf as yourself."

Thorin beamed at you.

"I truly must be the most luckiest dwarf in the world, because I'm married to the most attractive dwarf in Arda," he commented.

"Now now don't go too soft on me, Oakenshield." you teased "For now just let us sleep. We can continue flirting in the morning."

That answer made him chuckle. The bed creaked softly as Thorin came closer to you. He softly wrapped his hairy, muscular arms protectively around you, as if he was scared you would slip away from him. Not that you ever would, being a robust dwarf an all, but you can't help but grin as he held you tightly in his embrace his arms wrapped around your body, as you both lay on your side. He pulled the soft blanket tighter over your bodies and you began to snuggle your head into the crook of his neck, your beard slightly scratching against his skin. You breathed in his strong masculine scent. It reminded you of home, where you are right now, with the love of your life.

Even a strong dwarf warrior still needed some love and care too.

Your eyes scanned over his muscular body, covered in scars. He was so very handsome. It didn't take long before you began to hear your husband softly snoring right next to you.

Ever since your marriage, your life has been filled with constant happiness. Thorin may be grumpy and moody at times, but around you he became a total softie. Like butter he would melt in your embrace, you brought out the best side in him. Being with you has left him feeling more at peace than ever before. He's a tough dwarf but you, as his better half knew how to handle him and put him in his place, if the time called for it.

You stared up at the peaceful, sleeping form of your husband one last time, before the slumber slowly began to take you. You smiled and closed your eyes. Still laying in your husband's robust arms. Around him you truly felt safe, he was yours and you were his, nothing would ever change that.

And soon you found yourself in a world of wonderful dreams, laying right next to the love of your life. He truly made you feel like the happiest dwarf alive and the cold air of the dark night being completely forgotten as you shared warmth, the sound of both your deep snores filling the room.

Thorin with a pregnant FtM!Reader

When you found out that you were pregnant you had a severe panic attack.

It was as if your whole life before finding out that you were trans and accepting it was slapped right into your face.

You felt small and powerless and as if something was happening that shouldn't be happening.

Thorin found you full on crying in your bathroom, a sight that made his heart ache.

He pulled you into his arms and didn't ask for what was wrong, he just held you and tried to calm you down with back rubs and whispered words of softness and love.

When you were able to talk again you told him the news.

First, Thorin was really happy about it because you would be dads and then he realised.

He immediately assured you of yourself being a man, always have been and always will be, no matter your pregnancy.

This got you calm and you felt happy actually too, as you loved children and always had wished for one.

Your panic attacks were coming and going though, but Thorin was holding you through every single one of them, no matter what he had to do, no matter how long it took you to calm down again, he was there.

He understood a certain bit of your struggle with the situation but couldn't quite grab all of it, because he obviously had never been in your position.

For you it was all ups and downs, and not only because of your mood swings that came because of the hormones.

Your chest was aching, even though surgery had been performed on you years ago and you didn't feel comfortable thinking about what was between your legs either (you never had bottom surgery).

And you were certainly not very calm thinking of giving birth, but who would be anyway?

The weeks were coming and going, as well as the months and your belly wouldn't stop swelling.

Thorin always made sure to make you feel the most comfortable in your skin, kissing and caressing your body when you needed assurance.

And he always pronounced that you were still a man. Every single day he told you how masculine you still were and how much he loved loving a man, how much he loved his husband.

Then the time of staying in bed came, the time of not being able to do much. The time of towels being laid next to your bed, which made you a little scared.

Someone was around you always, whether it was Fili, Kili, Thorin, Bofur, Oin or Dwalin, someone always kept an eye on you, but these times you preferred Dis.

She had given birth twice already, and she understood how you were feeling, based on how she had been feeling during her pregnancy, especially so short before giving birth.

Then your screams were echoing through Erebor, and Thorin got locked out of his room in only his night gown.

Only Oin, Dis, and some nurses were with you.

Dis was holding your hand through all of the nine hours of birthing and you loved her for every second she spent on her stool, giving tips for breathing and pressing.

You swore to never have sex again that night (which you broke again).

Then you had done it.

You had born a healthy baby boy.

Oin put the child on your chest with a smile and some more tears ran over your cheeks, but this time they were caused by your happiness.

You cried and kissed your son's forehead, and then Thorin was there right next to you, crying as well, because he could finally hold you and hopefully ease a little pain, because you didn't scream of pain anymore, and of course because he was so happy to have a son.

"T-Thorin...?", you asked, sitting up

"Yes, my love?"

"I-It's starting again, I- fuuuck!", you yelled, Oin rushed to your side, checking your belly, Dis came and held your hand, talking to calm you down, but you were trapped in pain once again.

Thorin's heart almost teared apart from seeing you in so much pain and not being able to do anything, beside taking your other hand, still holding your son.

"Oin, what's happening?!", he asked, panicking.

"Looks like you're having twins."

A final scream of you and another child was born.

It was no boy and no girl either.

You had born an intersexual child. Oin smiled and put them in your arms.

You felt so understood by that baby, you cried again "Oh god", you laughed "You two are so perfect"

"They are", Dis smiled

"They really are", Thorin said, not being able to look at both his children at the same time, sadly.

Then you had to decide for the names: Your boy was Yanin (Flynn) from now on and your other child's name was Bryn.

Redemption of the regicide

(Thorin x OC)

“It wasn’t just about you in the courtyard.” Thorin's face darkened with anger, his jaw clenched tightly as he glared at Raigon.

“Oh, right, you benefitted from my support just fine. How is that justifiable? I can’t watch out for myself, but I can do it for you.”

“I never said that. Don’t twist my words.” Thorin spat, his voice low and dangerous. "You cannot hide behind excuses of survival to justify sacrificing others for your own gain."

“Ha.” Raigon laughed, his own frustration growing, “Says the one who leads his own family like pigs to the slaughter. Have they ever faced an orc before? Needed to choose between their own life or that of a brother?”

Thorin's jaw clenched at Raigon's words, his eyes flashing with anger. The mention of his family struck a nerve.

"My family has faced hardship and danger before," Thorin retorted, his voice steely. "They are warriors, just like me, and they have proven themselves time and time again. I would never lead them into battle unprepared or unaware of the risks."

Raigon's laughter cut through the tense atmosphere, a bitter edge to the sound. He shook his head, his gaze hard as he locked eyes with Thorin.

"And yet you question my ability to survive, to make tough choices in the face of danger," Raigon scoffed. "You may lead your family with honour and pride, but do not think for a moment that you are the only one who knows sacrifice and hardship."
