With Your Touch, Part 1
Summary: You were supposed to be living a normal life. Perfect boyfriend, just graduated college, and ready to start your new life. Until you met him. Brooding and imposing unless his daughter is around. You knew nothing about babies, but he knew less. Tension builds, feelings flare up, but are they just because he looks extremely sexy when he's soft? Could it be because you are falling for this princess of a baby girl before him? Is it because when he's in town you're too close? The money is good, and yet his attention is better.

Lloyd scowls as he watches the scene in front of him. The crease between his brows is extra deep. He hates working in the field almost as much as he hates watching it. Idiots. He was surrounded by incompetent idiots.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” His fist slams on the table. How many shots have to be fired before they secure their target. “He’s right fucking there! Shoot his ass!”
“Lloyd,” a timid man says behind him, and Lloyd’s eyes never leave the monitors. “Mr. Hansen?”
“I don’t want to do this myself, but I fucking will! Levinson, get ready to go!” More rounds of bullets, and still the target was missed. “What the fuck is this?”
“Lloyd!”
His body goes rigid as he turns to look at the small man who is shivering. Eyes downcast to the floor so he doesn’t look at the towering man. “Why the hell are you addressing me?”
“We have a problem.”
“No, shit, Sherlock. I have two teams of mercenaries after one target, and he’s not been shot. What the fuck else could be wrong?” He leans over a bit looking at the man. “Well?”
“Who the hell brought a baby?” Ari asks, staring down at a pitiful little carrier. An envelope beside the small bundle, and her bright green eyes stare up at the large man. “This isn’t bring your daughter to work day,” her face cracks a moment as she searches his face. Lips puckering out before a scream radiates through the makeshift office. “Make it stop!”
“Where the fuck did a baby come from?” Lloyd snaps a finger at another man to take over the original issue at hand. He just needs the target killed, and he can go home for a bit. “What is this?”
Ari’s hands slap on the side of his head covering his ears, but his foot tilts the carrier to rock it a bit, but still she wails. Seeing how no one attempts to help out, or get the baby to stop, Lloyd assumes this is something he’s going to have to take care of. What else was new? Rolling his eyes in annoyance, he leans down to grab up the letter. Crumpling it up before looking down at the baby. “Mother fucker.”

Your fingers run over the empty shelves in your dorm room. Graduation has finally happened, and now it is time to leave your mark on the world. Your father didn’t bother to show up for your graduation because why would he? He never showed up personally in your life. Not really. He always made sure that everything was paid for though. It could be worse, right?
You try not to complain about your father, or your family. You had more than most and should be grateful. But then some people had attention. Sighing, you grab up your bag, and look towards the door.
“Chase,” whispering, you walk over to him, and lay your head on his chest. “I didn’t hear you come in.”
“I don’t know why you feel so attached to this dorm room, honey.”
“Because it was my home,” you’re sure he didn’t fully understand, which was okay, you never bothered to explain. You kept your family dynamics quiet. He never asked why you were so quick to visit with his family for the holiday, just enjoyed you being there.
His warm arms wrap around you, and he holds you in a tight embrace. He wasn’t quite comfort, but he is sweet. He means well, and did what he could for the information that you provided to him. But this dorm room was the closet you had to a home. You had good memories here. Friends that were more like family, and now it’s gone.
You groan when the stupid sound of your absent father’s ringtone sounds off. Maybe he is actually calling to congratulate you for wasting his money on a degree that he deemed pointless. He. It probably wouldn’t matter what you did, it’d never be good enough for him.
“You gonna get that?”
“Do I have to?” You complain looking up at Chase. His mouth lifts to the side, and he nods his head. He is right. You should talk to him and quit hiding. You didn’t know what he was going to say or do. “I’ll be waiting in the car.”
Tumblr media
“So the kid is yours?” Ari looks down at the car seat, watching the little baby cry, no one attempting to soothe or comfort her. Lloyd squats down and rubs his thumb over her cheek, and she struggles to breathe from her tears. “Are you going to hold it?”
“Can you stop referring to my daughter like she’s a thing?”
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” Ari answers sarcastically. “Then pick her up. What is her name?”
“Clara told me to name her. She didn’t bother naming her. What…what do I do?” He looks up at his friend, showing the tiniest bit of emotion. “I don’t know anything about babies.”
“Start by holding her.”
“You hold her,” Lloyd is a lot of things but nurturing is far from one of them. He was a man that didn’t make mistakes, but clearly, he messed up somewhere. Of all the women he had been with only one was he stupid enough to knock up. But the way Lloyd is staring at her would suggest he almost wanted a baby.
“This is so fuck…this is so stupid. Clean up your mouth. She isn’t old enough to talk yet, but she will be,” Ari gets down to his knees, starting to remove the straps over her body. “She’s a pitiful little thing. Shh, girlie, you’re scaring your daddy before he’s properly got to look at you. There ya go,” he coos, holding the tiny girl up against his chest. Her cries soften a bit. He wonders when the last time she felt loved, because her body moves around feeling more of him.
“What’s wrong with her?” Both Ari and Lloyd’s noes turn up in disgust as they smell her. “She’s not been bathed?”
“That’s poop, Lloyd. We can’t have a baby here,” that is something Ari is certain of. Not only was this not a place for babies, he didn’t want to have to smell the baby smells.
“I didn’t ask for the baby. She was dropped on the mother fucking steps. Clara. I’ll kill that dumb trollop. Never trust desperate women. She doesn’t want money. She just didn’t want the baby. And I need her to have a name, so I’m not just calling her the baby. Ari, name her.”
“I’m not naming your spawn. She’s born of you, you name her. And my god, you gotta change this diaper, and figure out what you’re going to do in order for us to not have to deal with a baby like this. What the hell do you want?”
Lloyd turns to look at one of the analysts standing in the doorway. His thick rimmed glasses, and quiet demeanor made him one of Lloyd’s favorites. He was trustworthy, and smart. Quick. One of the few people Lloyd didn’t want to strangle. “Roman, what do you need? We’re dealing with someone.”
“You need an au pair.”
“What the hell is that?”
“It…it’s someone that will live in your home, and care for the child. They could teach them another language, and…”
“Sounds like a wife. Do I get to fuck them? Does she talk back to me?” Roman shakes his head no, wanting to say more, but doesn’t want to risk his job. He had the perfect person to help Lloyd with his little problem. “Where does one find an au pair?”
“I know someone that just recently graduated, and she speaks French. She has a degree in art history, and…”
“I need her at my house immediately,” Roman acts as if he’s about to say something until Lloyd cocks up a brow, “I will pay her handsomely.”
“You’re keeping the baby?” Ari’s answer comes in the form of Lloyd reaching towards the baby. Turning up his nose at the stench, but he holds her gently. Tenderly. He gives her a quick peck on her head. “He’s keeping the baby. Roman, call whoever. Sounds like the amount of money is not an issue.”
Tumblr media
Staring up at the posh apartment buildings, and squeezing Chase’s hand, you wonder how you even got here. Your father didn’t do anything but give you money. You didn’t even know him. Didn’t know what he even did to make the money. And now you are taking orders from him. Allowed him to make you feel like shit for your education.
“You don’t have to listen to him,” Chase says calmly. Slipping his hand out of yours, he turns to look directly at you. “You’re a grown woman, you don’t have to listen to what daddy says.”
“Don’t call him that,” your father didn’t earn that name. That’s exactly what you called him, father. “I mean look at it, there could be worse places to live.”
“Yeah, and you’re caring for a child that isn’t yours. And where’s her parents? How often will you have this child?”
“I’m going to live with them.”
“That’s another thing, I don’t exactly like the idea that you live with them. Who are them?”
“It’s a need to know basis,” you mumble. Finally finding your footing you take a step forward. It was now or never and it seemed like it was going to be now. What did you actually have to lose? This was a guaranteed job. It’s not like you had to stay. The pay was great. And how hard could one baby be?
You were going into this job with a house, great pay, and it seemed somewhat cushy. “You’re just going to be giving another child a life without their parents.”
“And just think where I would have been without my nanny,” you spit out, feeling a bit more protective of a child that you haven't met. It wasn’t her fault anymore than it was yours. Children should be loved and taken care of, and that’s what you are going to do.
“I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I know you didn’t. You don’t have to go with me if you don’t approve,” sighing, Chase follows you as you walk into the building. Following the exact instructions you were given from your father. You didn’t know what you were walking into. It was just a job after all.
Neither you or Chase say another thing. He definitely could feel your irritation at the need to insert what he thought he knew about your life. Your life wasn’t horrible. You just didn’t have your parents. Especially not your father. He had a business. And whatever he did afforded you a charmed life.
Seems like this child was getting the same treatment. And if you could give her the life that your amazing nanny gave you, then you feel like you’re giving it back. You didn’t see yourself as a teacher, but maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. And it was just one small baby. Eventually she would be going to school, and that’s if you even stayed that long.
Attention was everything when it came to children. If you said no, and this was apparently an emergency, what would happen to this child? Every child deserves a good life.
You don’t fully bother knocking on the door. Just punch in the code to the apartment, and Chase tugs at your arm. He isn’t as comfortable with this as you are. Your father gave you the code, Lloyd didn’t want you to knock, he wants you to make yourself comfortable. Your eyes go wide as you look around.
You could see the house at one point was pristine, but now it’s chaotic. Empty boxes are everywhere, but all of them seem to be items for the child. Your father told you she was a baby, but not how new she was. Tiptoeing deeper into the apartment, Chase pulls you back into him.
“Announce yourself. This is weird.”
“Mr. Hansen?” The sweetest little baby gurgle comes from the next room, and you look up at Chase. “That’s a real baby, handsome. Can I go meet my employer now?”
“I’m right here. Scream if you need me.”
“Mr. Hansen?” You ask again, looking into the first room. It is an even bigger disaster. Stuff was everywhere. The room has so much potential, but why does everything seem new? “Mr. Hansen, do you need help?”
He needs a lot of help. Could barely tend to his own child. His movements seem very rigid and unsure of himself. “Yeah, I think she peed. She has on the diapers that change color when wet, but…I don’t know what I’m doing.”
“I babysat a few times,” it’s a bit of a stretch. They weren’t babies. But you’ve seen some movies. Read some things, “Let me see. Hey there, cutie,” she looks like she could break hearts. She is angelic. Chubby little legs, and the biggest dimples in her cheeks. Completely toothless with the prettiest bright green eyes and long lashes. “I think you’ve overwhelmed your daddy. Did you recently just get custody?”
There had to be a reason for this mess. But he went and spent a ton of money trying to give his daughter everything she needed and could ever want. “I just recently found out about her,” that took an unexpected turn. “I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t have the time to really devote to her, but I don’t want her to do without, and…I’m in over my head.”
So he was a bit like your father. But he seems to currently be more hands on than your father was. It was cute, in a completely not weird way at all. Lloyd was older than you. A full grown man while you had only just graduated college. “I’m not an interior designer, but I know some. The apartment is a mess, I’m aware. Lyla needs so much, and this place was just here. I never took the time to do anything. So me and my partner ordered everything we could think of. I don’t think she needs everything we got, but she could. She has her bed, and her diapers, and there’s a box of formula and food in the kitchen. Her food should be there, right? I don’t think she plays with toys yet, but there’s some somewhere.”
“Is this a Dior stroller?”
“I was told it was a pram,” you stare at him, trying not to giggle. The fact that it was Dior was the more silly part. “I can’t do what I do and have her there it’s dangerous.”
“What do you do?”
“Don’t ask,” the look he gives you makes you take a step back, gawking up at him when you realize his size. He is tall. Arms that are thick and hard as steel. His shoulders are wider than your entire body, “Lyla will be provided for, and because of that so will you. Whatever you need. I’ll leave a card for you. I won’t be able to personally get all your…well, all your needs. So this seems like the best option.”
“My needs? Like food?”
“Uh, I know that you women have things you need,” he’s an idiot. “I’ll give you a check, so this looks legit, but I can provide all your special woman needs,” huge idiot.
“Yeah, I can get my ‘womanly needs’ with my paycheck. Do…how often are you going to be here if I’m living here?”
He puffs out a bit of air, and he fully gives you attention. His daughter now has a changed diaper, and he cradles her sweetly. Some stupid expensive silver teething toy in her mouth, and his eyes roam over your entire body. He’s a bit too handsome to be a father, and one that just so happened to be your employer. His eyes are too blue, and his arms look too thick, and you gulp, clenching your thighs together. What the fuck was this witchcraft?
“Every night if possible. I typically work remotely, but sometimes I do have to go out of the country, and that leads to a few days to a week without me coming home to you and Lyla,” is he smirking? You shouldn’t feel so small and taken aback, but your stomach erupts with annoying butterflies with how hard he’s staring at you.
“Would you like to see your room? It’s next to the baby’s. My bedroom is in the front of the apartment, just off the living room. So I’ll be the first to the door. Absolutely no one in this apartment. I don’t trust people. Especially not around my child, and I guess now you come into my protection. If you need to know the apartment is in another name. I have a tendency to create a lot of enemies, and I try to keep things here as safe as possible.”
Lloyd freezes when he hears Chase sneeze. Handing you the baby, he covers you and her with his body in such a quick motion it takes your breath away. Your loss of breathing had nothing to do with his weight digging into your skin, and you surely don’t let out an odd sound that has him giving you a quick wink.
“That would be my boyfriend.”
“Boyfriend? Roman didn’t say anything about a boyfriend.”
“Roman doesn’t even know when my birthday is. Do you have a problem with Chase being here?”
“What kind of name is Chase?” With your free hand, you shove him off you. You didn’t need him that close to you. “Honestly, what kind of name is that? And I said nobody visits.”
“You just told me that. He traveled here with me because he didn’t trust that I was coming to some apartment with some weird man that lured me here under false pretense just so he could murder me.”
“I don’t lure women here. This is a safe space for my daughter. I need you to make him leave,” Lloyd didn’t need to lure women. When he wanted a woman he could have one. And wanting a woman led to him becoming a father.
“But I don’t want to be here alone with a baby that can’t talk,” his eyes narrow at you. It is like you and Lloyd are playing a tit for tat game. Going back and forth of why Chase shouldn’t be here, and why you need him here. “He has a job. He works at an IT firm. Would you really want me here alone and by myself? What if someone comes here to attack me? Then Lyla is left all alone.”
“I’ve taken precautions that this would never happen. When you’re on the clock, Lyla is your only priority,” that made you feel slightly uneasy. You had to make a note to check the neighbors. Getting a feeling that someone was tasked with watching and listening to you and Lyla.
“When am I off the clock?”
“When I am here. Unless,” he gives you that eat shit grin again, shaking his head. Is he actually flirting with you, “I shouldn’t say that, sunshine. So what should Lyla call you? Nanny seems a bit too old and mature for someone sweet like you.”
“Why not my name?” He contemplates that for a moment, looking down at his little baby who stares up at you. If babies could talk, you wonder what she is thinking of.
“Dolly.”
“What?”
“I want her to call you, Dolly. Her Dolly. Ooh, yes, I like that. Let’s see what I should do about this boyfriend,” spinning on his heels Lloyd walks down the hallway, stopping the moment he sees Chase. Your boyfriend stands up immediately, holding out his hand for Lloyd to shake.
“I don’t like you.”
“I’m sorry?” Chase looks towards you holding the baby, and takes a quick gulp. Lloyd’s eyes go between the two of you before sidestepping in front of you. His wide body blocking Chase from looking in your direction. “What is this?”
“Chase, let's get something straight, when I’m not here, Dolly is on the clock.”
“Her name isn’t Dolly.”
“When I’m here, I’ll allow her to come and go as she pleases, but just like Miss Dolly, I need to get a background check on you. I don’t want just anybody to have access to my daughter, and her au pair. And absolutely under no circumstance will you be sleeping under my roof. This is my home, and my daughter’s, and I don’t need stupid boys coming in here and tainting that,” he turns to look at you. Giving you no time at all to process exactly what he is saying. He couldn’t be serious.
“Remember, I own your father. I also own you. I’m offering you money that you can’t refuse because he just cut you off, and you’re used to a certain lifestyle. I’m providing that for you. And I don’t want limp dicks in my home. Have I made myself clear?”
“You can’t do that.”
“I can do whatever I want, Dolly. I’m Lloyd fucking Hansen. If I want to cut every single finger off your father’s hands, I will. You can either have me as your employer or your enemy. And if you walk out that door with that boy, you will be my enemy. I’m not saying you can’t date him, I’m saying I don’t want him in my house or around my daughter. Have I made myself clear?”
“Yes,” his head tilts forward, and his piercing blue eyes give you a look. A look you can’t exactly explain, but it makes you feel things. Makes you ready to do whatever it is he told you to do. “Yes, sir.”
“Good girl. Get rid of the boyfriend.”
“But you’re here.”
“And so are you. There’s no need for him to linger around, while you move in. This is just an introduction, sweetheart. I need to walk you through all the boring stuff about your job. I’ll pay you extra if you get Lyla’s bedroom situated. This place is a complete disaster, and I can’t stand it. Get rid of him,” reaching towards Lyla, he walks back down the hallway to her room, and you give Chase an awkward smile.
“Come on, he can find someone else to be the au pair.”
“I need to see this through, Chase,” he tries interrupting you. Like he usually does, but you shake your head. You did need this job. None of the other places you applied at have called you back. “I need this job. It won’t be forever. And once I get settled in, and have my first day off, I’ll spend it with you.”
“You’re really going to let him talk to you like you’re his property?”
“No, I’m not. But I see myself in that little baby, and she needs me. He doesn’t know what to do.”
“Do you?” Nope. You had no idea about babies. You didn’t even have siblings. But your bags that were in Chase’s cars had a few books with some ideas on what to do. You’d figure it out along the way. Plus, you had this odd desire to understand your dad’s job, and also what exactly Lloyd did. How did a man that instilled so much fear in you also have a soft spot for his daughter?
“You’ll call if you want to leave? No questions asked, I’ll come and get you?”
“No questions asked,” you promise, kissing his lips softly. His hands cup your ass, and Lloyd glares at him down the hallway. How did Roman allow you to grow up and be disrespected in a stranger’s home? You allowed him to kiss down your neck, and neither of you even knew he was watching.
Lloyd would never let Lyla be treated like that. He wished he could make her not get any bigger. He liked the idea of having a woman in his home. Even if it wasn’t the way that a traditional family had it, who knew what the future held. You wanted to please him. Even told Chase it was time for him to leave. He still had it.
Chase pulls off your neck, and notices Lloyd watching you. His hands slip into your back pockets, and he gives your ass a bit of a squeeze, “Who’s girl are you?”
“I’m yours, Chase. Now go on, I’ll call you later,” his eyes flick over to Lloyd, who ventures into Lyla’s room. Going to lay her down for her nap as he tries to think of ways to get rid of Chase. He is an asshole. A cocky one at that. Unfortunately he reminded Lloyd of himself. And there is only enough room in your life for one asshole.

The blinds are drawn as you hug your pillow with one arm. Your body is stiff as you sleep with one leg hooked around your blankets, the bottom of one cheek exposed to the steady blow of AC. You shiver and roll onto your back, pulling the covers around you fully.
The night before is a vague shadow in your mind. You remember starting the movie but not much else. You’d been so tired after the break-in, you must’ve passed out almost immediately. You feel bad, hoping that Clark doesn’t take it to heart.
You push yourself up. Your head is thick and full with sleep. You haven't slept like this in forever. Your mouth is dry but tangy. You swallow the gritty morning and cough, turning to dangle your legs over the edge.
Your striped shorts are crooked and wrinkly and your tee shirt smells like sweat. Ugh. You're a mess.
You stand and lumber around clumsily. You grab a change of clothes and try to stretch out the kinks as you cross the hall to the bathroom. You close the door and put your clothes on the counter, facing your reflection.
You look rough. You feel just as bad. You turn on the cold water and splash it over your face before you brush your teeth, scraping out the stale taste stuck to your tongue. You turn on the shower and undress, wincing as your thighs meet.
You must be close to your time of the month. You get a bit sensitive. It would explain your fatigue and the soreness. Great.
You step into the glass booth and wash yourself. The warm water is soothing against your stiff muscles. God, you really hurt. You reach down to touch your folds, checking your fingers for blood.
PMS is a bitch. Not enough to bleed for a week, your body has to gaslight you into thinking you are already.
After, you pull on the fresh clothes but hardly feel more awake. Just sluggish and achy. Coffee. You don't live off it like your sister but you need it in that moment.
Thinking of, where is your sister? Not too unusual for her to he errant but it's been a few days.
As you come downstairs, you hear snoring rumbling through the first floor. You slow and tiptoe into the front room. You cautiously approach the couch and find Clark, arms crossed, sleeping on his side, cramped into the small space as he slumbers. The small throw stretched over his shoulders.
Your stomach pits. You're certain he'd much rather be at home in his own bed. Your guilt keeps you from disturbing him.
You creep into the kitchen, making your movement muted and staggered. You flip the switch on the kettle and wait as it hums. You load the french press with grinds and teeter on your toes, dancing nervously around the tile.
You pour the boiling water into the press and check the time on the stove. You give it time to brew and lean on the island, listlessly cupping your chin and tapping your cheek with your fingertips. As you blow out, you hear the floorboards and stand up to greet Clark as he enters.
His hair is askew, eyes droopy, and the blanket still draped around his neck. You didn't realise before he hadn't been wearing a shirt. His pajamas hang low on his stomach, the dark hair across his chest and trailing down his stomach exposed shamelessly. You gulp and focus on his face.
“Smells like coffee,” he grins crookedly, “morning.”
“Morning, uh, I hope I didn't wake you up,” you squeak.
“Not at all,” he waves you off, “you passed out so quick, I figured you'd be up and at em. Besides, Jonny’s an early riser.”
“Oh, okay,” you turn to press down the plunger on the press, “I'm sorry I zonked out so fast–”
There's less resistance than you expect and the coffee splashes up and overflows, splashing your hands as you recoil with a yipe. You try to shake it off but a particular spot on the back of your hand singes badly. Before you can think, Clark has your arm and angles you to the sink as he flips on the cold water.
He guides your hand under, crowding you as your arm shakes in pain. You hiss even as the water soothes.
“Oh, I'm so clumsy,” you murmur.
“As long as you're okay,” he slowly lets you go, “you let me take care of this.”
He swipes up the dish towel and sops up the errant drops of coffee. He dries off the outside of the press and patiently pushes down the plunger. You turn off the water and use a fresh towel on your hands.
He faces you, “blistering?”
You look at your hand, “just tender.”
“You're lucky I'm here,” he chortles, “scare away all the bad men and take care of your burns.”
“Ha, yeah, I–”
“Mm, something smells like cherry blossoms,” he interrupts, sniffing the air, his blue eyes narrowing on you, “is that you?”
“Um, yeah,” you catch a wafting scent from your body, “that's my body soap. Oh no, is it setting you off?”
“Not at all,” he smiles, “I was more worried about you.”
“Ah, no, it's fine. The soap doesn't trigger me surprisingly.”
“Hm,” he leans on the counter, gripping the edge as you notice how his stomach muscles clench, “I bought Lois some cherry blossom soap once. She never used it. Guess it isn't her scent.”
“Not for everyone I guess,” you turn and open a cupboard, taking down two mugs.
“Mm, yeah,” he agrees dully, “well, I should call your dad over my coffee,” he pushes himself straight and nears, stopping right beside you as you pour into the cups, “maybe after we can go get breakfast. My treat.”
“Oh, you don't have to–”
“I want to. Kinda weird not having Jonny around, looking fir a distraction,” he accepts a mug as you slide it over to him.
“Makes sense,” you say, “well, who am I to deny a free meal?”
🏡
After searching your coffee cup for an ounce of strength, you give in to the persistent glaze in your eyes. Maybe eating will help. Clark's offer is generous, almost too generous, yet your stomach clenches at the thought of food.
You grab your purse and head down to find Clark. He's in the kitchen, rinsing his mug, your own forgotten on your night stand. He dries it and puts it away as you wait for him to notice you.
“Did you talk to my dad?” You ask.
“Yeah, actually, couldn't get through. They must be on the road. Service gets spotty, right?” He hangs the dish towel neatly, “so you ready? I gotta stop by my place and change but then we can eat.”
“Sure, uh, well, you know, if it's too much…”
“Not at all, I'm excited. There's this place I've been meaning to try for a while but Lois hasn't felt like it,” he says, “tried calling her too. Think she's still mad at me.”
“Oh, I'm sorry, Mr. Kent.”
“Clark,” he corrects you, “you make me feel so old.”
“Sorry,” you apologize again.
“It's fine,” he shrugs, “we should get going. I'm starving.”
“Not gonna lie, me too.”
“Must've been all the salty snacks last night,” he kids.
🏡
After you stop at the Kents', you set off for breakfast. The more you think about it the hungrier you are. You grow restless as you watch several options pass by, holding your tongue as Clark keeps driving.
You're surprised as he passes the city limits and you shift in your seat, craning to watch the sign pass. He clears his throat and turns down the radio, "almost there. Guess I shoulda mentioned it's all the way out here."
"Nah, it's fine," you shrug, "just curious."
"Really cute place, locally owned," he explains, "I prefer to give my money to an honest family business, you know?"
"Totally get it," you say coolly.
He taps his fingers on the wheel, as if he's restless or even agitated. He pulls into a gravel lot off the country road and you look up at the painted side. You passed this place with your parents a few times but never pulled over. It's a quaint brunch restaurant in a cottage-style house.
"Oh, this place," you chuckle.
"You been here?" He asks.
"No, but I've seen it."
"Right," he intones and clicks free his seat belt.
You free yourself of your own seat belt and climb out as he mirrors you. You let him take the lead and follow him to the front door. He holds it open and you enter ahead of him. You're greeted inside by an elderly lady.
"Good morning, may I show you to a table?" She offers.
You nod as Clark gives a vocal response over your head. She leads you to a table for two. You notice the place isn't very busy. There's an older man in the corner drinking coffee over a newspaper but no one else.
You sit as she introduces herself as Lena and promises menus. She shuffles away as you look at Clark who seems enamoured with the place. He admires the painting of flowers not far from your table and the lacy curtains around the front windows. It's cute but a bit outdated.
"There ya go, honies," she lays two menus on the table, her knobby hands shaking, "would you like coffee or tea?"
"Coffee, please, and..." he looks at you.
"Green tea, please."
"Coffee and green," she repeats, "lovely."
She hobbles away and you shift awkwardly in your seat. She must be the only waitress. In a place like this, you're not surprised. You just hope the food is decent, not that you can be picky.
"This place is nice," he muses, "peaceful."
"Yeah, it's interesting," you say as you pick up the menu.
"I'm glad you got some sleep," he takes his own menu and browses it lazily, "glad I could be there to keep an eye out. Protect you."
"Ah, well, yeah, I don't think they guy would come back anyway but it did help," you give a small smile and settle on eggs benedict.
"Great," he puffs out his chest just a little.
You peek up at him. It must be a good distraction for him. With Lois and Jonny gone, he needs something to keep him busy. You can humour him.
"Here ya go, sweets," Lena returns with a mug off coffee and a teacup on a saucer. She places both shakily and stands as straight as she can to ask if you've decided on what you want.
Clark lets you order first and you speak loudly and slowly to the woman as she cups her ear. She repeats it back to you before listening aptly to Clark. When she's done, she gives a soft clap and goes back behind the counter. She scribbles on a piece of paper and puts it in the window.
You glance over at the window, distracting yourself with the blowing grass. Somehow out here, you don't feel the same tickle in your sinuses. You sit back and cross your arms, watching the lazy blue sky.
"Oh, it's so romantic, a nice breakfast for two," Lena startles you as she appears again. She places a candlestick in the middle of the table then puts a wax taper in it. You can only stare and share look with Clark as she lights it, "you are so darling together. Is it a special occasion?"
"Uh," you bite your lip and look at Clark.
"Just breakfast," he answers as he throws his hands up, "spur of the moment, you know?"
"That's precious," she squeals, "you are such a beautiful pair."
"Thanks," Clark says and you just smile awkwardly.
She winks and leaves once more. You watch her cross the restaurant and sit with the old man and his newspaper. He lowers it as she whispers to him. You turn back and face Clark, leaning forward.
"I think she thinks we're together," you keep your voice quiet, "like a couple."
"Eh yeah, I didn't want it to be awkward," he shrugs, "no harm in it, really."
Your mouth slants as you consider his response. You guess he's right. What will it hurt? She's just a lonely old woman.
"What?" He tilts his head.
"Nothing," you answer.
"Really? I mean, I could correct her if it's a big deal--"
"It's not, really," you lean forward and cross your arms over the table, "just funny, I guess. Second time it's happened."
"It is?" He furrows his thick brows.
"Yeah, the ice cream guy..." you trail off, "whatever. Just... I'm kinda young but maybe don't look it."
"It's flattering, really," he insists, "people really think I could be with someone like you."
"Well, I mean, Lois is gorgeous," you laugh, "so..."
"Lucky man, surrounded by beautiful women," he grins.
“Oh, uh, thanks,” you sit back awkwardly, not expecting the compliment. You're nothing like Lois, love handles excluded, you still couldn't compare. You're just the babysitter. “Thanks, that's… you don't have to say that.”
“Well, you are,” he rubs his neck bashfully.
“Ha, yeah, well…” you clasp your hands in your lap and look again out the window.
As you watch the horizon over the dusty road, your heart roils in the tension. There's something nipping at your mind, just on the edge of your memory but you just can't grasp it. Is he just being nice or is there something more behind his compliments?
Don't be silly, he doesn't see you like that. He couldn't.

Babysitter
Tumblr media
Part two of "Babysitter"
Description: Babysitting Eddie the Freak Munson's little brother was something you genuinely did not expect to be doing this summer (and him watching you while wandering around shirtless was surely not in your plans)
Warnings: smut, babysitter!reader, grinding, fingering, drugs, skirt kink
"Seriously?! The damn newspaper?" you groaned, throwing the document down on the table where both your parents sat. They observed your furious movements with confusion and annoyance before your mother spoke up.
"I don't get why you're so upset. Where did you think you got all the other jobs from?" she questioned as your dad remained silent, "Well, certainly not from here!" your mouth dropped.
You couldn't believe your eyes.
This summer your parents your mom, decided it would be a brilliant idea if you stopped simply "suffocating yourself on that damn bed" as she specifically called it, and started doing something more productive, like the other teens your age did.
So instead of just washing cars or walking some neighbors' dogs, she thought babysitting random children around Hawkins would be so much fun that she was almost offended when you did not start jumping around with sparks of excitement at her vision.
Of course, despite the multiple arguments you two had, the final decision was made and the moment July approached, you already had your first appointment with the Whitlock family.
You didn't particularly dislike children, but the responsibility of a random goblin was terrifying enough. However, it did not seem half as bad when you got to negotiate the money you would get out of it.
And just like that, up until the 19th of July, you had gained over 280 dollars by babysitting twelve children in total. Honestly, it did seem quite odd that the words "y/n y/l/n is babysitting" spread around Hawkings so quickly, but now it all made sense.
Your mother had actually paid Hawkins Post to place your name and phone number under the services section, and you were furious.
You didn't know whether it was the fact that your name was just traveling around the town or that it did so without your consent, but the look on your face as you watched your mother was definitely out of a horror movie.
"Is it a bad time to tell you, you have another appointment?" she apologetically said before smiling, causing you to throw your hands up in the air, "Are you joking right now?!" you scoffed, pacing around the living room.
"Come on y/n it's money," your father finally spoke, making you roll your eyes. Your mother began approaching you, reaching inside the back pocket of her jeans before pulling out a small piece of paper, with a few words written on it, "Don't bail for no reason," she said and handed the note before leaving the room.
Once the paper was in your hands, you quickly glanced down at it, the words making your eyebrows connect with confusion.
"Wayne Munson, 34234 Forest Hills Trailer Park"
Wayne Munson? As in Eddie Munson?
Eddie The Freak Munson from your school?
Your eyes were wide and the only thing that kept you from letting out a tremendous groan was your father's presence inside the room. It couldn't possibly be true. It was probably a coincidence.
What were the chances for two different Munson families living in the same trailer park? Well... zero.
You rushed upstairs to your room, spinning around as you let the information sink in. You knew well what the entire school thought about Eddie and his interests and even if you weren't part of the "Mocking Eddie the freak" club, you certainly had no desire to go anywhere near his place.
You never got the chance to have a normal conversation with the guy, -well, except that one time your teacher made you pair up with him so that he wouldn't fail the chemistry project- but from what was going around, he wasn't anything other than a wasted, creepy, drug dealer who finally got some attention after the infamous 'Reefer Rick' himself went M.I.A.
But considering the situation, that man, Wayne, would not ask you to babysit Eddie, which meant he had another kid living with him in that trailer, something you were confident no one else knew about.
"The appointment is from 7:00pm to 12:00am. Five hours or fifty dollars, depending on what makes you want to go," your mother interrupted your thoughts by knocking on the door.
"Ten an hour? I've gotten fifteen once," you rolled your eyes, trying to sound logical, "You've also once got seven an hour, yet you did not complain," she fired back at you, to which you groaned, "Mom-"
"y/n ten an hour is more than enough for someone that lives in one of Forest Hill's trailers." she glanced down at you with a disapproving look towards your behavior before you sighed in defeat.
"So?"
"This is the last job I'm taking, deal?" you smiled, "y/n-"
"Deal?" you cut her off.
"Fine,"
Three hours had approximately passed since then. You looked down at your watch, which pointed at 6:45pm. Forest Hills was about ten minutes from your house, so quickly, you grabbed a skirt and a t-shirt from your chair, took your bike's locker keys, and rushed downstairs.
The way to the Trailer Park was easier than you expected, with all the streets surrounding it being almost empty, with no sign of actual residents.
You glanced down at the information again the moment you got off your bike.
"34231... 32... 33..." you mumbled under your breath as you looked around.
34234.
You took a good look at it. It wasn't anything too odd, just a simple trailer with some junk laying outside of it. The van he always came to school with was parked outside. The railings towards his door were old and rusty.
Random deflated balls and toys together with squeezed cans of beer were thrown under and in front of the stairs and a few empty glasses sat alone on the picnic table shelter.
You took a deep breath before slowly approaching the railings, making sure no one you could possibly know was around by any chance.
Once you were certain, you placed your fist on the door, cautiously knocking three times, but there was no response. You knocked, again and again, frowning at the lack of reaction.
The moment you were about to step away, though, a loud groan caught your attention. "Come here, you little shit!" a familiar voice yelled whilst you heard two loud pairs of footsteps running around in your direction.
"Ricky!"
The door was opened, and your gaze was immediately drawn down. There stood a little boy with curly hair and big brown eyes staring at you as he bit the hem of his 'Snorks' themed t-shirt.
"Hello little guy," you beamed, quickly bending down to play with his fluffy hair. You could obviously tell the Eddie Munson was the one standing behind the boy, but you simply didn't have the courage to peek up just yet.
"Hi," the little boy smiled widely, his two front teeth missing. Your heart melted as you observed his puffy cheeks, "What's your name mister?" you asked in a childish tone when he began jumping around, "Ricky," he said, immediately running back inside the house, losing him off your sight.
You swallowed, getting off your feet and feeling tense the moment your eyes caught his. "Hey," Eddie smiled awkwardly, gesturing for you to get inside, "Hi," you forced a gentle smile, finally getting in the trailer.
You inspected the place. It was genuinely not bad. A few band posters and an impressive amount of caps on the wall caught your attention immediately. A few toy cars were thrown around together with random bags and boxes of delivered food.
"Thanks for coming here, I really don't know how to handle him on my own," he said, as you looked at his eyes seemingly traveling across your body, examining you, or rather your skirt.
"Yeah, no problem," you only said, picking up a toy from the ground. "Do you live here alone?" you proceeded to question, being unable to tell if anyone else was there.
He sat down on the couch before shaking his head, "I live with my uncle Wayne, but he's away for a couple of days, and looking after Ricky hasn't been much of a success." he rubbed his temples.
"Oh, I thought your uncle called me," you replied which made him avoid your eyes, "Well that was me. I know we never -like- interact at school since you know," he rubbed the back of his neck, "You're you and-" he finally glanced at you, "I am me,"
As he was about to continue, you cut him off, "It's okay Eddie," you managed to let out, catching him off guard, "I get it,"
"What's your name?" Your eye contact with him broke the moment Ricky appeared from behind his leg as he still gripped it, "I'm y/n, it's nice to meet you, Ricky!" you smiled when his little hands were wrapped around your torso, hugging you.
"Hey, Ricky!" Eddie tried to stop him, but you laughed it off, making him understand it was okay.
The boy sat next to you, taking the toy you were holding off your hands. "This is Mr. bubbles," he spoke and started rumbling about it for approximately five minutes.
You and Eddie awkwardly sat and listened to him, except your mind thinking about other things. He was definitely not as bad as you expected from the little seconds of interaction you had with him but you still didn't want to rush your expectations.
After about half an hour of you looking after the little boy playing around and Eddie doing something that you couldn't really see in the kitchen, he finally spoke up.
"Is it okay if I go take a shower?" he questioned. He obviously hadn't hired a babysitter before and you could tell, "Yeah, no problem,"
Ricky then immediately dragged you down on the floor with him as he lied on his belly, making you beam, "I want big curly hair like Diddie" he spoke when the bathroom door closed.
"Like who?" you frowned with confusion, unable to understand some of his words, "My brother, Diddie" he replied, pointing towards the door, "Oh!" you messed his hair a little.
You then took a good look at him once again. His hair had curls, just like Eddies but they were significantly shorter, almost like an outgrown buzz-cut.
"Are you growing them out?" you smiled and asked, but he shook his head, "Dad doesn't like long hair," he responded as his hand drove a toy car across the floor, "But Eddie has long hair," you connected your eyebrows, "Dad doesn't like Eddie a lot," the boy finally glanced at you helping you understand what the situation was.
You immediately felt like it was your responsibility to change the subject, so you grabbed a toy and played with him for a couple of minutes.
The entire time you could hear the water running down the shower, so when it stopped, Ricky immediately ran towards the door, "Diddie!" he yelled with excitement, barely opening the door before Eddie shut it again, "Hey dude! Wait a second!" he laughed which strangely caught you off guard.
You had certainly never heard Eddie Munson laugh before. It was genuine and loud. You had been at his Trailer with him for about two out of the five hours you had to stay and although you did not interact much except for times to talk about his little brother, you could not understand why people despised him so much.
"Diddie!"
"Okay, okay! I'm done," you looked outside the window, only listening to his voice leaving the bathroom, "What's all the eagerness? Is y/n torturing you?" he looked at you as he tried to get your attention.
You turned your head with a smile, "Hey!" you laughed but your brain stopped working when you realized he only wore a towel low on his waist.
His chest and arms had various kinds of tattoos. Tattoos you couldn't see before. One of them began at the top of his inner hip, barely visible as the rest of it continued under the piece of fabric he covered himself with.
"y/n I'll have to contact Hawkins Post for child abuse," he teased, something he hadn't done before during your time together, "No, y/n is good," Ricky smacked his leg, making you let a small laugh out.
"That's Diddie abuse," he frowned at his brother before the little boy ran towards you, climbing and hiding behind your back. "Don't involve me in your vendetta," you smiled at Eddie, something he returned.
God, did he look oddly good? His pick necklace was the only thing on his torso and his back was perfectly defined. You couldn't help but keep on staring at that tattoo on his hip, but when he called your name, blood rushed through your cheeks, the thought of him catching your stare frightening you.
"Yes?" you cleared your throat, "I think we should put that big ol' guy to sleep," he softly laughed, his gaze falling on the little boy behind you having his eyes shut. You immediately glanced at your watch, was it already 9:00pm?
You nodded before gently taking Ricky's hand, having Eddie lead you to the child's bedroom which appeared to be pretty simple. He had a little bed with barriers on the side. Once you saw them, your head turned to Eddie.
"He is a pretty energized sleeper," he chuckled, watching you from the door. You smiled, nodding in response, "You can wait outside, I'll be okay," you then spoke, watching him leave and close the door behind him.
"y/n are you gonna stay here?" Ricky asked, opening his eyes slightly, "Yeah for a little while," you nodded, realizing you had to be alone with Eddie for the hours you had left.
Usually, the parents were away leaving you alone inside their house, which meant you could either relax or maybe play some music, but this time, you clearly weren't alone...
By the time you finished thinking, you noticed the boy had shut his eyes entirely. Your gaze fell on the planet at the end of his bed, which you took in your grip before tucking him in and making sure the barriers were attached properly.
You left the room and made your way through the tiny hall right into the living room where the lights had been turned off, only the TV playing in the background.
Eddie sat on the couch, apparently clothed, a cigarette between his lips as he observed the device with boredom. "He's asleep," you spoke, making him turn his attention to you, "I'm so thankful y/n," he said as he approached you, his presence inches away from yours.
Eddie suddenly smiled and raised his index finger at you, motioning you to wait for a second as he passed by you, making his way towards the small spaced kitchen.
You slowly walked over to the couch where he was sitting, shortly listening to his footsteps approach you.
"Since your shift ends in like two hours I figured you might be a little hungry," he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, placing a homemade pizza on the wooden table in front of you right before squishing the cigarette he was holding between his fingers into the ashtray.
"You made this?" you smiled, watching him nod in response before sitting down right next to you, with quite a cautious space of about one and a half people.
"Do you um..." he swallowed, pointing at the old, half-damaged TV, "Do you want to watch something? Hammer House of Horror starts at 9:30," he questioned, "Oh my God! I love this series!" you smiled widely, which he immediately returned.
"To be honest I didn't expect you to babysit," he said, your head turning to him, "Me neither. My mother pressured me to do it so that I wasn't inside the house 24/7," you responded, rolling your eyes as you slightly slid on the end of the couch, reaching to grab a piece of pizza as you felt your skirt slightly hovering higher on your thigs.
Of course, he looked. Every slight movement caught his attention even though it shouldn't. "24/7? Don't you hang out with your friends?" he tried to not be stiff, but you could tell how much he despised your friend group by even mentioning it.
"Well everyone's kinda busy, I guess," you responded while looking at your white converse, "You guess?" the boy frowned, making you sigh, "When it's not for alcohol and popularity, they have no good intention," you took a bite, surprised at how good it was.
"And I'm the loud freak," he rolled his eyes as he got up, moving towards a cabinet. You didn't respond. Even if you never told anything bad about him, you would always listen to your friends' conversations regarding him and his tendencies, maybe even chuckle at some of the comments.
"Is it okay if I smoke?"
You glanced down at him waiting for a response. Considering he was already smoking, you knew it wasn't about nicotine this time, but you didn't mind, it was his place anyway.
He approached you, rolling his blunt the moment he sat down and you quietly observed him.
He was wearing a black, sleeveless Iron Maiden shirt and a pair of sweat shorts. You were used to him wearing his jeans and his leather jackets, so that comfortable look was new to you.
"Do you want the first?" he asked, stealing your attention away from his clothes. You had never done drugs before so you kindly declined, watching him inhale slowly before letting out a heavy amount of smoke, his head falling back.
"You are an excellent chef," you beamed as he turned his eyes to you, "Oh yeah? Are you sure the blunt didn't get to you?" you both laughed, noticing him move closer towards you.
You sat there quietly for about two minutes watching the ads on the TV before you finally spoke up, "I didn't know you had a brother," you said and he smiled, "Yeah... Ricky's my soft spot, but he lives with my father, so I don't get to see him often," he responded, making you question whether you should continue this conversation or not.
"How come? If you don't mind me asking of course!" you move your hands quickly, making him smile, "It's okay," he chuckled, inhaling once again, "Well Ricky's young and I am not. I came here to live with Wayne since I couldn't take his shit anymore," Eddie shrugged, making you nod.
"Could I... Could I give it a try?" you suddenly questioned before he gave you a confused look, "Are you sure?" the curyhead asked, making you nod.
He approached you, his face inches away from yours as his hand was brought up to your lips, his big fingers holding the blunt right between them. You have him a quick look before lowering your face and placing the rolled paper between your pink lips.
"Now inhale," he instructed you, his voice so low, it was almost like a whisper. As you did so, his eyes didn't leave yours for a second. You didn't know where you found the courage to maintain the contact, but you did, and it felt... different.
"Good," he pulled his hand away, letting you exhale, a few coughs escaping your mouth, "Who would have thought," he smiled, "Eddie Munson smoking weed with y/n y/l/n on his couch," he grinned.
"You're right, I'm supposed to be working here," you rub your forehead with guilt before pulling away, about to stand up, "Hey," his hand gently grabs yours, making you sit back down, "Ricky's sleeping, just talk with me, here," his eyes were heavy and his lips slightly curved.
His lips were full and vibrant.
"My mom will slaughter me," you slightly giggle, grabbing his hand before inhaling once again, which was the first time you ever had physical contact with each other.
He liked it. He carefully observed your face with his fingers in front of it. Your hands both grasped his bigger one, and your expression numbed when the smoke escaped your lips. He really liked it.
"Not bad, hm?" Eddie smiled, noticing you relaxing more, "Not bad at all," you whispered back. "Is your mom going to pick you up?" the boy then questioned before you shook your head, "Then you can stay a little longer so I have company,"
You nod with a slight blush on your cheeks that was thankfully invisible due to the low lighting of the room.
"You're really nice. Sweeter than all of my friends," you admit, making him touch his chest dramatically, "y/n! You're showing kindness towards a small, little peasant, like me!" Eddie spoke, making you gasp, "Oh, shut up," you laugh with him.
"For real though. I wish we knew each other earlier than this stupid mess of High School,"
He lets your words sink in before his eyes turn to you, "We can learn each other now," he speaks quietly, making you turn your head, "But I get why you might hold back," he adds.
"Weird, satanic, freak Eddie Munson and a cheerleader from Carver's circle," he laughs, exhaling smoke. You roll your eyes, almost breaking the distance between your bodies, "You're way cooler than Jason, for the record," you smile.
"Yeah, that's enough blunt for you," he chuckles making you groan, "I'm serious,"
"A little determined, aren't we now, y/n?" his face turns to you, inches away from yours and your breath hitches, "Is it pity, or is it something else?" he asks.
"Huh? It's nothing, I'm just being honest," you quickly respond, "You know what I think?" Eddie smiled, his face even closer this time, your lips barely away from touching, "I think it's the older guy that mommy and daddy don't approve of situation," he whispers, "What? No, I-"
"Are you sure?" his eyes examine yours from that close-up distance you two were in. You breathe heavy, smelling his freshly shampooed hair, his perfume, and weed all in one. You rethink his words. You were a senior too with just two years of difference from him. He was always mocked by every other person your age and yet there you were, smoking with him, only knowing him for barely a day.
Without thinking of it, you slightly move your head, your lips brushing over his, when his hands grab the back of your head, slightly pushing you closer to him.
It felt different. It wasn't just a plain kiss. You were kissing Eddie Munson and maybe he was right, It did turn you on that it was him.
"Come here," he whispers, sitting back on the couch before placing your legs on each side of him, placing you on top of him. He softly licks your upper lip, waiting for permission to enter your mouth, and you immediately give it to him.
As your tongues explore each other's mouths, his hands study your body cautiously, not wanting to make you feel uncomfortable. He carefully caresses your back, only over the elastic of your skirt.
His lips gently abandon yours as he begins to trace a path on your soft jaw, slowly moving toward the beginning of your neck, "Eddie," you breathe out, your hands around his neck, and your eyes shut closed.
His name sounds good when you say it, it makes him feel things he didn't even know were possible, "Sweetheart, can I touch you?" he speaks against your neck, not breaking contact once.
"Yes, please," you say with satisfaction and he grins, "So polite all the time," Eddie says. All you can hear is the sloppy kisses on your skin and the low-volume TV when you feel his large hands sliding down your body, grabbing your ass with lust.
Your skirt dances as he caresses you, and you instantly feel his erection. The more he touches you, the more it grows. You softly moan, taking his hands into yours as you guide them on your touch-starved thighs.
"I've been craving those pretty thighs ever since I first saw you in that little cheer skirt," he sighs, squeezing your legs as he pulls away from your neck, looking at you right in the eyes, "You never noticed me y/n, no matter what I did," his hands travel higher from where you placed them, under the hem of your white skirt.
"No matter how many times I had to get on top of tables and shout like a maniac, you never noticed me," he begins kissing your lips softly again, his index finger wandering around the sides of your little panties.
"I always noticed you, Eddie," you reply against him, your voice shattering the more his fingers played with your underwear, "Yeah, just not the way I wanted you to,"
Eddie immediately grabs your hips under your skirt, pushing you down to put pressure on his aching erection, making himself let out a soft moan as your clothed cunt hovers above his tight sweats.
"Oh God," you whine, holding tighter onto him, "Is it okay if-" as he's about to finish the sentence, his house phone interrupts him, making him groan in frustration, "Sorry about that," he rolls his eyes as he keeps on kissing your collar bones, "Eddie, wait,"
The curlyhead immediately stops, looking at you concerned, "It could be my mother," you bite your lower lip nervously, "Do you want to pick it up?" he hums but you shake your head as you begin to peck his neck carefully, "Oh beautiful, that's it," he keeps grinding you against him when the phone finally stops ringing.
His hands keep exploring, suddenly stopping above your shirt to look at you for permission. You give it to him, about to help take it off but he stops you, "Come here," he picks you up off the couch when you place your palm over your mouth to avoid making any sound as you pass the hall.
He places you on his bed and instantly locks the door behind him. The moment Eddie turned around your shirt was off, and his lips slightly parted, eyes fixated on your breasts.
He sits on the bed, crawling towards you the moment he begins placing small kisses on your chest, cupping you over your bra, "Sit on top of me pretty," he groans as he places his back against some of his pillows, watching you climb on him.
"Eddie," you say as he kisses and sucks on your breasts, "Yes beautiful?" the boy responds, his eyes looking up at you, "I-" you grind faster, "Please I need you," your hands lift up your own skirt and he breaths heavily at the view.
"Are you sure baby?" he questions one last time before you nod. His hands make you turn around, your ass against his clothed hips as you still remain on top of him. You're confused at the sudden turn, but you trust him.
"How many times I've thought about you..." his hand is under your skirt again, playing with the hem of your panties as your back remains against his chest, "Did things thinking about you," he pushed his hand in your underwear, his middle finger gently rubbing your clit as his mouth remains against your ear.
"I once skipped class because of my filthy thoughts about your pretty little body," you moan when he begins to rub you faster, your back arching in pleasure as he leaves a couple of kisses on your earlobe.
"My pretty little cheerleader, aren't you now?" he moves further down your cunt, caressing in and gently playing with it before circling your entrance, "Why didn't you approach me?" you struggle to let out between your quiet whimpers, "I'm a little shy sometimes y/n,"
His middle finger enters you fully, causing you to let out a loud moan. He begins taking a pace, which keeps getting quicker and quicker. "So shy," he keeps finger fucking you while his other hand holds yours over your waist just so that you stay in place.
"Oh God, Eddie," you nag, your free hand grabbing the one fucking you, just to make him understand you needed one more digit. He grins, adding his ring finger only to watch you fall apart more.
"I can't wait for my dick to be in there," he whispers, the hand that held you still letting go off your waist and instead, finding its way to your clit, where it kept on rubbing.
You moan faster and faster, pushing your ass against him just so you can hear his groans and curses coming out of his lips, "Can I come?" you question and he moans, "What a well-behaved girl," Eddie praises, keeping on with his movements, "Help yourself, beautiful," he smiles, allowing you to come all over his thick, ring-filled fingers.
You become a moaning mess, falling onto his bed as you try to catch your breath, your stomach rising up and down from the heaviness of your breaths.
Eddie smiles with satisfaction as he carefully places himself on top of you, slowly licking and kissing your bare belly. You quickly reach behind your back, unclasping your bra before throwing it on the floor next to you.
He almost chokes before kissing higher, finally able to place your nipple between his lips and suck, causing your back to tingle from the sensation.
Your fingers get lost in the maze of his hair as you gently push him closer to you. He moans. He loves it. Every single second of his face is buried inside your breasts is like heaven to him.
His hands carefully climb up your skirt, slowly pulling your panties off before placing them inside his pocket, "I might need those, you know," you giggle, feeling his smile grow against your breast, "I'm sure you have plenty of other ones that I can also steal," he chuckles, releasing you off his mouth to let you observe all the hickeys he had painted your body with.
"I'll hang that on my wall," he gives you a boyish grin that makes you laugh, "You are so stupid, Munson,"

You're such a good boy. Y/N replayed the words in his mind over and over again, smiling and blushing like an idiot.
What had Mr. Rogers meant by that? Surely, it was just a friendly display of affection, right? There was no way that Mr. Rogers meant those words in Innuendo. Like in Y/N's fantasies late at night. The way Mr. Rogers would come to him at night, tall, muscular, and sexy. Sometimes, he'll be wearing tight black boxer briefs. Other times, he'll be wearing nothing at all, cock big and hard and leaking precum.
Those were the best. The way he can imagine Mr. Rogers on top of him, whispering sweet nothings into his ears or be really nasty depending on how horny Y/N is. He knows it's wrong to feel this way about his boss, but he can't help it.
Nor can he help that after he checks on Matthew and gives him his mid-sleep bottle of milk, Y/N goes into Mr. Rogers' room and just sits on his bed. Frankly, this was some yaoi shit, but Y/N couldn't help it. The room smelled like Mr. Rogers. He inhaled the fresh Irish soap and strangely apple pie smell that was Steven Grant Rogers.
Y/N decided to do something risky and found one of Mr. Rogers' underwear. Red, white, and blue, go figure. He knew it was wrong, but pulled his pants down to his ankles and laid down with Mr. Rogers' underwear wrapped as around his cock as he stroked himself off. Feeling the way his cock twitched and leaked precum down the dirty boxers as Y/N moans and closed his eyes, imaging all the things he wanted from Steve.
He was so close now. He was gonna...gonna...
"Y/N? I'm home." Mr. Rogers' voice carried from downstairs.
Shit! Y/N came all over the underwear, and some landed on carpet. He quickly stood up and pulled his pants back on and stuffed the boxers somewhere safe before returning downstairs to greet his boss.

Beatrice doubts she’s ever been so nervous. Her head is spinning and she fidgets with the bundle in her hands, brown paper crinkling as she tugs softly on the tiny yellow bow wrapped around it.
She hesitates on the front step, considers tossing the bouquet into the bin closest to her and running the opposite direction. This is possibly the worst decision of her entire life. Completely unprompted. She should’ve consulted Shannon.
"Oh." Ava pauses in the doorway, one foot on the stone steps mere inches away from Beatrice. "Were you…"
Beatrice feels her face burn when Ava’s eyes settle on the red tulips in her arms. Eleven red and a single yellow tulip.
Red tulips. A declaration of love.
"Mama, move it!" Diana pushes through Ava’s legs, stumbling into the daylight like a newborn deer, squinting against the sun until her eyes adjust and she recognizes Beatrice, grinning and leaping into her. "Papa!"
Beatrice can’t look away from Ava, she’s analyzing every micro expression that passes over her face. Ava knows what it means. Perhaps Valentine’s Day isn’t the time for this. Beatrice should’ve waited.
"Papa!" Diana yanks on Beatrice’s coattail, pointing to the brown paper bundle in her arms. "What’s it?"
Beatrice forces herself to thaw, heart pounding against her ribs as she swallows it from the back of her throat.
"It’s a gift. For you and… and your mama." Finally, Ava lifts her eyes, cheeks pink and lips parted. Beatrice fumbles over the flowers, trying to find the yellow tulip to tug free for Diana. But she doesn’t look away from Ava.
Beatrice had really hoped to catch them while Diana was still napping so she would have time to process before attending to the little girl. In fact, she probably had arrived while Diana was napping but she’d spent so long doubting herself that Diana had awoken.
Diana takes her flower from Beatrice, inspects it quietly before extending it for Ava to admire.
Beatrice hadn’t meant to declare her love for Ava in the snowy, winter air. She hadn’t meant for it to be a grand gesture. It was meant for Ava alone. For her and Ava.
She’d had a speech prepared for Ava’s tiny entryway, her stained linoleum tiles, her crayon colored walls.
I’m yours. She had wanted to say. For as long as you’ll have me.
Beatrice offers the remaining bouquet to Ava, extending them for Ava to either accept or deny. Waiting for Ava to either accept her or turn her away.
The next second moves impossibly slow. Ava steps toward the tulips, hand reaching to brush their petals before moving away. Beatrice’s heart falls, sinking deep into her stomach. Ava has been considering the best way to reject her. Beatrice has read too deep into their interactions. She’s misinterpreted and ruined everything and -
Oh.
Ava’s lips are soft and warm against hers, tender and tentative. Beatrice’s mind has barely processed what was happening before Ava is pulling away, apologies clouding the minuscule space between them until Beatrice surges forward and they crash together again.
They haven’t kissed since they returned from Christmas. Beatrice isn’t certain why, not a single moment has passed that she hasn’t thought about kissing Ava. The thought had overtaken her, pulsed deep in her veins until she’d had to pull away, little by little, creating a chasm between them. A chasm flowing with anxiety and worry.
She’s not certain what she’d ever fret over before because this might the only thing Beatrice had ever been certain of in her life.
They’re only pulled apart by a high whine from Diana, a cry of boredom and annoyance. Even then, they linger in each other, noses brushing and breath mixing.
Beatrice still hasn’t found the words she’d rehearsed previously, only four she hadn’t considered tumble past her lips into the shared air betwixt them.
"Will you be mine?" The uncertainty lingers only a moment before Ava pulls away to giggle, nodding rapidly and blushing deeply. She flings her arms around Beatrice’s neck and buries her nose there, effectively knocking the flowers from Beatrice’s hand. Beatrice doesn’t much mind.
"I thought I already was."

ellie’s millionth gojo x reader idea
i rly wanna write an au (have sort of already started) where gojo works as a babysitter (idk for why yet, maybe another au where he just really needs the money or something haha) and he starts babysitting yuuji (who is just five years old) and the kid’s an absolute MENACE so gojo is ab to rip his hair off tryna keep an eye on him. and then you’re yuuji’s hot older sister who’s in grad school and is incredibly off limits bc gojo’s so screwed if your mom finds out he has the hots for you n she would kill him (then fire him) if he made a move on you. also did i mention he really needs the money 😔
i’m just picturing gojo not knowing how to cook anything for yuuji other than microwaved dino nuggets and he has to write yuuji’s allergies on the back of his hand w marker so he doesn’t forget he’s only allowed to give the kid almond butter and not peanut butter or else he WILL GO INTO ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK. also he’s always staring at the pics of you that your mom hung up on the fridge (your 4-year uni grad photos) n he knows he’s not supposed to contact you unless it’s an emergency bc you’re a busy woman but he texts you all the time anyways (stupid shit all day like “hey where does yuuji keep his light up sneakers he really wants to wear them to school today” n you’re at your wits end like “…second cabinet from the left”)
for christmas you come down to visit and he’s biting his fist to make sure he doesn’t flirt with you in front of your mom n all your relatives at the table during the family holiday dinner (kiddo yuuji begged for gojo to be invited too) n then things get hot n heavy when gojo goes upstairs to grab something for your mom n he accidentally runs into you changing in your old bedroom n idK I ONLY HAD ONE SENTENCE PLANNED BUT I KEPT TYPING THIS OUT PLS
FLUFFY & SMUTTY ONLY. I’M SICK OF WRITING ANGST. JUST SILLY N FUN VIBES.
idk basically lots of “no way, your mom would kill me if i laid a finger on you” but he has a death wish so he does it anyway
🧍🏻‍♀️adding to my very long list of wips

With Your Touch Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were supposed to be living a normal life.
Tumblr media
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5

A/N: this story will include themes of age gap, forced au pair, close proximity, jealousy, obsession, possessiveness, alluded canon level violence, soft Lloyd, voyeurism, self gratification, pining, and more. Read ALL warnings before each part. And as always, minors DNI

The Babysitter (1)
Meeting The Maximoffs
Tumblr media
Wanda Maximoff X Reader
Summary: In need of money and a way to escape the problems at home, you get a job babysitting two lovely boys named Billy and Tommy Maximoff. What happens when you start to feel things you shouldn't for their mother? Will it bloom into love or leave you heartbroken?
The Babysitter Master list | General Master List
A/N- I would just like to say that there will be some sensitive issues in this story such as alcoholism, homophobia, anxiety as well as more mature content such as smut so, if you continue to read this, please consider this warning.
Meeting The Maximoffs
The sound of the bell rang around the room, Professor Stark in front of the first row, reminding everyone in the class to have completed the assignment by Monday before returning to his desk, fingers moving to type away at his keyboard, presumably writing an email about the assignment as people were flooding out of the door, his words falling on deaf ears. You made a mental note to complete the task before grabbing your backpack from the ground, quickly placing all your books and notes away before hurriedly leaving the room and the college campus.
The sound of directions filled your earphones as you looked down at your phone, the screen displaying a map with a blue line to lead you towards your destination of the house you were going to be babysitting at. Your gaze flickered between the screen and your surroundings as you stepped off the bus after thanking the driver, your mouth parting when you turned the corner your phone told you to. The street of houses here had you looking at them in awe, the area clearly wealthy judging by the houses that you felt should be referred to more as mansions.
Your feet carried you to the intended house, your hands nervously putting your phone away and fixing your outfit a little before ringing the bell of the large house. While waiting for someone to answer, your fingers fidgeted with one another as you were unsure of what to do.
Soon, the door swung open to reveal a tall blonde man with striking blue eyes dressed in professional attire, a soft smile that was definitely not genuine covering his face as he offered his hand out to you.
"You must be Y/n," you took his hand, shaking it briefly and trying not to grimace at his firm grip while nodding at his words.
"Yes, that's me sir," you say, noticing how he appreciated the formality, "You must be Mr Jarvis?" He nodded his head and moved to let you into the house, you follow behind him while your eyes scanned the hallway.
A smile took over your face at the sight of a photo of two young boys, both grinning ear to ear in the photo as they were dressed up in Halloween costumes, one in a sky-blue jumper with silver lightning bolts running across it, the other in a navy jumper and red cape flowing behind him. Your eyes flickered over to another photo this time of the two boys and a woman but before you could look any more at it you heard your name being called from another room.
"So," Mr Jarvis started, "I'm not sure how much you have discussed with my wife over the phone, so I'm going to cut to the chase and make sure we're both happy with everything." You sat opposite the man, listening attentively to what he was saying, a little shocked by his forwardness though. "You are to look after the twins, make sure they do any schoolwork, keep them entertained and feed them," the way he was speaking made you think it was something rehearsed, something he didn't actually care about but had to make sure was done, "Be in bed by nine if neither of us are home and that's pretty much it. It will most likely be Monday to Friday as my wife and I both work, and you will need to be on time as my work only lets me out to pick the boys up from school to bring them home. We'll pay you in cash afterwards."
"What time will I need to be here for you to go back to work?" you ask, praying that it fits with your class schedule.
"By four at the latest," he looks down at his watch, noting the time and standing to grab his suit jacket that was draped over the sofa. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to work," your eyes widen at his words and follow after him.
"Wait, I'm starting now?" you practically blurt out, your nerves doubling every second he continues to get ready to leave the house.
"Yes," he answers shortly before walking to the bottom of the stairs and calling the twins down, "Tommy, Billy, come down here." The sounds of feet running down the stairs fill your ears as you see the two boys from the photo come into sight. "This is Y/n, your new babysitter so listen to her and behave," he ruffles both of their hair, one of them seeming to not like the action, before turning back to you. "Any issues, call or message Wanda," with that said he makes his way out of the house, the sound of the door shutting echoing inside your head.
At least you were good with kids... right?
With a nervous expression, you look at the boys who have smiles on their faces, pure excitement emitting from one of them, the other clearly more timid than his brother. You crouch down and give him a comforting smile, tilting your head to the side as you smile at the other.
"I'm Y/n," you offer the more confident brother your hand, his smaller one taking a hold of yours and shaking it a little too enthusiastically making you laugh.
"I'm Tommy," he says, teeth showing as he seems to like the idea of having a new babysitter. "This is my brother Billy," you give a soft smile to Billy who gives a small one back.
"Well, how about we have some fun now we've got the house to ourselves," your tone is playful, both of their eyes lighting up at your words.
"Can we be ninjas?" Tommy rushes out, your eyes widening once again. His brother laughs at your shocked and equally confused reaction.
"I..uh.. Sure, we can be ninjas if we want to," you chuckle out, "But after we play, we have to do our schoolwork." They both groan a little, but you raise your eyebrows at them, making them giggle at the fake serious look you were giving them.
An hour ago, if someone told you that you were about to play ninjas with two nine-year-olds you would have simply laughed in their face, now look at you. "Do you want to be a ninja too Billy? Or do you want to be someone else?" His face lights up at your question, your heart melting a little at his shyer nature.
"I can be something else?" He looks to his brother who is already doing karate moves in the air, your gaze following his and mouth tugging up into a smile. You nod at him and wait for him to think of something he wants to be. "Can I be an astronaut?"
"Of course you can," your tone is cheery, and you stand upright, mirroring the position Tommy was in. "So, we have a ninja and an astronaut, what's the first plan of action for tonight?"
"We have to sneak into the living room and defeat the bad guys!" Tommy exclaims, taking his role seriously and crouching down, slowly creeping towards the room. You copy him, watching as Billy also mirrors the action, and gradually make your way into the living room. You have to hold back your laughter when Tommy and Billy both check the corners of the other doors in the house before they leap into the living room. Billy doesn't fight as many bad guys as Tommy, the latter slicing his palm through the air and punching imaginary figures. "We did it!" he cheers, face beaming up at you as he goes to high five you.
"We did," Tommy looks proud of himself while you turn to his brother, "Now, I think it's time for a mini trip to space for our little astronaut over here."
Moving to the middle of the room, the boys either side of you, you bring your hand up to your mouth in the shape of a radio. "Pshhht, this is your captain speaking," chuckles fill the room with the voice you put on as well as the awful static noises you try to make. "Are we Psshhhht," another set of laughter, "Are we ready for take-off?"
"This is astronaut Billy saying he's ready," he says, eyes full of joy while he looks up at you. Tommy also says he's ready and you put your captain's voice again.
"Taking off in 10...9...8...7," the twins joining in with the countdown.
"6...5...4...3...2...1!" At the end of the countdown, you lift Billy off the ground, swaying your body around with him earning a squeal of surprise and excitement. You place him down after a little more flying through space, his brother pretending to steer the spaceship.
"And that concludes our space mission," they both pout a little, trying to make you guilty for ending the fun so soon.
"But we never flew back to earth," Tommy counters, you just shaking your head at them.
"If we all do our schoolwork then maybe we can fly to another planet then back to earth," you reason, the twins practically sprinting to go and get their homework. You sit with them at the table, pulling out your own work to do while they start theirs.
You want to say many, many things about the work Mr Stark gave you to do but refrain from saying them due to two little people sitting near you. Your pen scribbles word after word for your assignment, your gaze occasionally flickering over to the others to make sure they are doing their work and understand it.
"Y/n?" you hear Tommy say, "Can you help me with my maths question?"
"Of course I can," you move your chair so it's next to his, your eyes searching the paper for the question. You notice he's doing fractions and wish your work was like these fraction questions instead of an entire essay on science theories. After a few minutes of explaining, a flash of realisation and understanding washes over his face while he tries another question on his own.
The sound of the door opening catches your attention, your eyes checking your watch to see that it's just gone half five. You wait at the table with the boys who haven't seemed to notice someone's home until she walks in.
Your mouth parts slightly at the sight of the woman, no, the goddess that just walked into the room. A smile that could brighten any room, mesmerising green eyes that practically enchant you and auburn locks cascading down her back with a few framing her face adorns her perfect figure, your mind lost for words at the beauty of this woman. The boys rush over to her, hugging her and letting her lean down to press a small kiss to their foreheads before turning all of her attention to you. The expectant look on her face suggests she asked you a question, making you flush at the intensity of her gaze.
"Uh... pardon?" you say, embarrassed from being too captivated by her to listen. She simply smiles at you, nose scrunching at your nervous state.
"I said 'You must be Y/n, the new babysitter," there's a slight teasing in her tone as she repeats, "It's lovely to finally meet you face to face."
"You too, Mrs Jarvis," you awkwardly say, Tommy and Billy going off to watch Tv as they claim to have finished their work.
"I actually go by Miss Maximoff," she corrects politely, "And no need for formalities, call me Wanda, dear." The way her words have a slight accent to them has your face flushing even more, especially at the term of endearment. "I hope they behaved for you," she says, her head looking over her shoulder at her boys sitting on the sofa, engrossed with the cartoon currently playing.
"They were perfect for me Miss Ma-" Her eyes look over at you, eyebrow raised, "Uh Wanda." Your flustered state must have amused her as she let out an angelic laugh, your mind desperately wishing to hear that sound again. Your gaze travelled to the twins, your mind replaying the surprisingly fun afternoon you had. Stuck in the memory, you don't notice the way Wanda looks at you, an undecipherable glint in her eyes before her words break you out of your thoughts.
"Well thank you for taking such good care of them and somehow managing to get them to do their work," she jokes out, before reaching into her purse to find some cash to pay you. She offers you £50 and your eyes widen at how much she's giving you.
"That's way too much Wanda," you say in disbelief, you would have been happy with £10 never mind fifty. "I only looked after them for two hours," she shakes her head at you dismissively and takes a hold of your hands, placing the money there. You're too busy trying not to panic at the feeling of her hands on yours to stop her from pulling away.
"I can already tell they love you, so please take it," her eyes hopeful that you won't try and refuse once again. "Consider it a starting bonus," she argues, and you open your mouth in protest but close it almost immediately after as you can't think of anything to say to make her change her mind.
"Thank you," you say, looking up with an extremely grateful expression, "This really means a lot to me." You see the questioning look in her eyes and avert your gaze to your watch to see the time. "Um, I'll be going now if that's ok?" you move to the table to pack your books away, trying your hardest to ignore the feeling of her eyes on you.
"Yes, that's fine dear," when you turn you see a soft expression on her face and silently thank her for not pressing any further. "Billy, Tommy, say goodbye to Y/n," she calls, and the boys come rushing towards you with wide eyes.
"But we still have to go to another planet," Billy says, Tommy nodding his head along to what his brother says.
"And we need to get back to earth," Tommy adds, your heart clenching at the worried expressions on their faces. You look over to Wanda who just has a confused but entertained expression on her face. You move closer to them, Wanda even more intrigued by what was happening.
"Pshhht this is your captain speaking," they giggle at the static noise again, Wanda letting out a chuckle at your fake voice, your cheeks flushing as you look back at her. "Mission to Mars will happen on Monday, Pshhhht and mission back to Earth will happen afterwards," the worry washes from both of them at the promise of continuing the game before they rush over to hug your legs.
"Goodbye Y/n," they both say, then walking back to the sofa as you pull your backpack on and walk towards the door with Wanda close behind.
"Thank you once again for taking such good care of them," her voice is gentle as she holds the door open for you.
"It was honestly no problem, Wanda," you step out of the house, turning back to her before leaving properly, "They're amazing kids, you should be really proud of them." A small tint of pink covers her cheeks at your words
"Get home safely Y/n," her fingers brush a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "I'll see you Monday."
You watch as she shuts the door, a smile on her face, and start to walk down the drive, whispering a small 'See you on Monday' to yourself as your mind fills with thoughts of a certain woman.

The journey begins...
I hope you enjoyed :)

I WROTE THIS AT 2AM FORGIVE ANY MISTAKES OK GOODNIGHT
Tumblr media
mike walked inside after his first shift at freddy’s, slightly rattled by the dream he had.. but glad to be home to finally get some freaking sleep.
when the door opened, he was BLESSED by the sight of you. abbys babysitter. if he had maybe a drop of self respect or confidence he could ask you out, maybe even date. but lets be honest hes a complete wuss and his best excuse is “not wanting to ruin the thing they had now” which was an occasional awkward exchange of the same 5 phrases such as “hello, good morning, how are you? im ok. how are you? good, hows abby? good. good.” and then a super awkward silence. but in the recent days, when he still worked at the mall he and you actually had nice conversations that didnt feel forced. mike had hope yet.
“hey, y/n.” he said as he put his keys down, observing abby as she swung her feet in excitement from the table, watching you as you made her pancakes.
“hi mike !” you say, turning to him slightly and cracking a smile before you looked away to put the pancakes on a plate and pass them to abby. luckily you looked away when you did because your eye contact was enough to make mike look like a tomato. “i hope you dont mind i made pancakes, if you want some, theres a little more i was gonna put away !” you said, reaching for a plate. “im ok, thanks. and dont worry about it.” he said, sitting next to abby who was looking between him and you, plotting an evil, DEVIOUS, horrid plan with a grin comparable to the cheshire cat. mike gave abby a terrified look as he began regretting even MENTIONING the idea of you in a romantic way to abby. he began mouthing pleads of her to show an ounce of mercy but she already turned to you and began to open her mouth.
“are you busy this weekend?” abby said while making direct eye contact with mike and snarfing down pancakes.
“uhm.. i dont think so? my only plans from now and the unforeseeable future is watching you so if your asking to hang out chances are ill be with you already, weirdo.” you said, as you begin washing up the dishes used to cook.
“not for me, silly! for mike!" she says innocently, batting her eyes and grinning like a madman to me.
god, ive never been more terrified by a fucking 10 year old. trying to brush off the comment of a date to a child, you piece together a response.
"uhh, if im babysitting you.. and its a weekend.. mike would be there too..!" you said awkwardly, trying to just scrub a damn pan.
"but, what if i was at a friends house?" abby added
"then i wouldnt be there." you say.
"but mikes so lonely..! he has so friends-" abby begins, before mike puts his hand on her mouth.
"abby, stop being weird- what the hell!" he says before being interrupted by abby licking his freaking hand.
"thats so unhygienic, dont do that." he says as abby giggles evilly, and you begin to speak.
"well if mikes sooo lonely, he can.. i don't know... just maybe.. ask? if i wanna hang out? because id.. say yes?" you say, looking at mike.
he blessed the skies above that you were actually confronting and he didn't have to face the awkward rejection that haunted him.
the kitchen was finally quiet for a moment, until abby break the silence.
"do it, do it, do it." she chants silently.
"would you.. wanna go out.. with me.?" mike said silently and awkwardly, cursing himself in his head for being so nervous when she literally confirmed she was down.
"sure, mike schmidt."

Your parents leave on Friday. Your sister is errant as always. You can’t remember the last time you saw her. You heard she had a sitting gig too but you’re not entirely sure. She could just as likely be out with her friends, wasting the summer.
You enjoy the time you have to yourself. Lois sent a message to let you know her parents were taking Jonny and so you have nothing to do. You don’t even know when he’ll be back. For the foreseeable future, you’re on a mini vacation of your own.
The extra hours you’ve picked up in the last two weeks should make up for those you’ll miss out on. So you hunker down in the air conditioned house, away from the pollen and the heat, and embrace the solitary. You binge the show you’ve been putting off all year and munch away on the forgotten snacks from the cupboard. There’s no one there to tell you what to do. And you should make sure not to let any of the food expire.
Saturday comes without any particular plans. You have no motivation to leave or really go much further than the bathroom. If your mom was there, she’d nag you and tell you to go out and do something. You spend much of the day in between sleep and laziness.
The sky darkens outside your window and lulls you into a light slumber. Maybe it’s your allergies or the hangover of the migraine earlier that week, but you feel like you can’t get enough sleep. Tomorrow, you’re definitely going to do something. Anything. Soon enough, you won’t have the time to do nothing.
You toss and turn yourself awake. You check your phone, it’s just after midnight. You don’t know why you're suddenly awake but it feels like you’ve missed something. As if you heard something but can’t remember it.
The screen of your laptop glares over you. Netflix asks if you’re still watching as you sit up. You rub your eyes, your mouth dry from the blasting AC. You should turn it down, your dad won’t be happy about the bill if you keep it running.
You shuffle through the dark and into the hallway. The house is eerily silent. You sense the emptiness. You go downstairs and adjust the thermostat before continuing onto the kitchen. You pour yourself a glass of water and drink it facing the fridge.
You drink half of it and take it with you. You turn and a shadow blurs through the blackness. You nearly drop the glass as you scream. The intruder’s footsteps hammer down the hallway and you hear the front door bounce off the frame.
Oh my god!
You leave the glass of water on the counter and peek down towards the front door before running upstairs. You left your phone under your pillow. You race into your room and grab your cell, dialing clumsily as your heart pounds. You sit against your door, praying they don’t come back.
Who would break in? And how would they know you were alone? You wait until the line picks up, your words spilling out in a panic. You barely even understand yourself, reciting the address from habit alone.
Maybe they didn’t know you were there. Maybe they only saw your parents drive away in the RV and assumed the house was empty. Maybe, maybe, maybe… all the uncertainty make you want to scream.
🏡
You forget about the alarm system until your mother calls. You struggle to recount what's happened. Her concern floods through the phone but you plead with her not to come home. They've been waiting so long for this trip, you'd hate to spoil it. Still, you're not sure you want to be alone.
"We're not that far," your mother offers as you sit by the window.
The cops are gone. They say you must have left something unlocked. You're not sure what is going on. You don't know who would break in and they seem certain the culprit won't come back.
"Maybe I'll stay with a friend," you offer, "I'd hate for you to come all the way back. Nothing was broken and they just ran. They didn't even try to hurt me."
"Yes, but sweetie, that's so scary–"
"Dear, let me call around," you hear your father, "lots of neighbours around. We can have someone keep an eye out."
"Yeah, that sounds good. Maybe Marc? I think I saw him the other day," you suggest.
"We'll get back to you, kiddo," your dad assures, "go check that everything's locked up and we'll call the security company to make sure everything's working."
"Yeah, thanks, dad," you quaver, "I think the cops are right. Probably won't come back," you let out a brittle chuckle, "they seemed pretty afraid of me. Ran so fast…"
"Where’s your sister?" Your mom asks.
"I dunno…"
"Sure it wasn't her?"
"Too big," you think back, "and why would she just run out like that?"
"Hm, well, I'll give her a call. Just to make sure, okay?"
"Yeah," you bite your lip, "thanks."
You hang up and watch the dim sky lighten over the suburb. This kind of thing doesn't happen here. Or so you thought.
🏡
You sit on the porch and have your coffee. You feel like you’re safer there, where anyone can see. It’s harder to stay inside as you imagine a faceless intruder around every corner and through every doorway.
You’re waiting on a call from your parents but your sister texted to check in. They must’ve got to her first. Her reaction was little more than a surprised emoji. Typical. If it was her here, she likely wouldn’t have even thought to call the cops.
Marc comes up the walk and distracts you from your doomish trance. You smile at him as he returns an apologetic look. You’ve received a few sympathetic gazes from the neighbours but he’s the first to betray his own curiosity.
“Your dad gave me a call,” he says, “wish I’d known, I’d have come earlier.”
“Oh, it’s okay. Was more scary than anything. Nothing missing–”
“Nothing missing? Hmm,” he rubs his chin, crossing one arm over his thick stomach, “I gotta go upstate and grab the kids, otherwise I’d stick around. Custody and all that, I can’t cancel or mom will take me back to court.”
“It’s fine, really. Security companies coming to check on the system. I don’t think they’ll be back,” you shrug, trying to assuage your own fear as your hope slowly deflates.
“Yeah, I don’t wanna scare you but if they didn’t take nothing, they might’ve been scoping the place out. Figure there’s a girl all alone here and… well…” he reaches to rub his neck and looks away evasively, “I mean, kinda unlikely but still–”
Your phone begins to shake. You check the screen. It’s your dad. Shoot. You stand up as you show Marc your phone, “sorry, dad’s calling.”
“No problem. Hope he can get ya sorted. I’m leaving around three if ya need anything before then. Say hi to him from me.”
“Sure,” you turn and answer the call.
“Dad,” you greet as you grab your empty cup off the wicker table, trying to busy your restlessness.
“Hey, kiddo, how’s it going?”
“Uh, alright, Marc was just here,” you examine the mug, the fading print of the ridiculous slogan; Mom Fuel.
“Good of him to check on you, look, he’s heading out of town. Don’t think Gladys can be much help,” he laughs thinly, “but I was talking with Clark–”
“Clark?” You blink, “oh, that’s… a lot of trouble.”
“Well, he offered to come by. I figure he’s a pretty big guy, he can scare off whoever and he’s got himself a bachelor weekend,” your dad explains, “no wife or kid, he said it was fine.”
“I… okay,” you accept helplessly.
“Kid, you good?” He asks with concern.
“I… I dunno. I didn’t think it was that big a deal but now I’m really scared,” you confess.
“Better safe than sorry, right? Cops said they aren’t worried but I’m your dad and I wanna make sure you’re safe. Your sister home yet?”
“No,” you roll your eyes, “says she’s going on some overnight trip with Maia.”
“God,” he huffs, “I swear, I haven’t seen that kid since she turned sixteen.”
You can’t help but agree. The last three years she’s been elusive and no one seems to be able to get a leash on her. Yet, she doesn’t give anyone enough reason to worry. She is just there, in and out, doing her own thing.
“Thanks,” you sniff, “I’m sorry, dad.”
“Sorry? Not your fault. We can still come back–”
“No, please don’t do that,” you plead, “I can handle it.”
“I know you can,” he affirms, “love ya.”
“You too. Go, have a great day.”
“I’ll be worrying ‘bout you still, but I’ll try,” he relents, “you got this, kiddo.”
🏡
The security company shows up at noon. They do a walkthrough and test the locks and alarm. You notice a few nosy neighbours watching but they hide as soon as you spot them. It’s quite the drama in the sleepy suburb.
They leave you with a piece of paper confirming their work and you watch the white truck drive off. You go inside to attach the form to the fridge with a magnet in expectation of your parents’ eventual return. You grab a can of sparkling water from the fridge and return to the porch, scrolling on your phone as you try to forget your rude awakening.
Not long after, your attention is drawn up by an approaching figure. Your heart sparks but quickly calms as Clark walks up the pavement towards the porch. You almost forgot.
“Hey,” he smiles as he stops at the bottom step, a knapsack lazily slung from his thick shoulder, “you doing okay?”
“Uh, yeah, it’s… been a long morning,” you put your phone down, “you don’t… you don’t have to be here. I’m alright.”
“I promised your dad,” he leans on the post of the railing, “besides, the thought of you being here all alone worries me. I wish I’d known, I would’ve been here right away.”
“That’s really nice but you don’t have to worry about me, you have your own problems.”
His smile falls, lips thinning as he sucks his teeth. He slowly climbs the steps and comes to sit in the other chair, just on the other side of the small table. He puts his bag by his feet.
“Problems,” he says, “you mean Lois?”
“I– well, not exactly, but–”
“It’s fine. You got me. I need the distraction,” he leans forward, elbows on his legs, “without Jonny, I gotta admit, I don’t have much to keep me busy.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I really wasn’t meaning to upset you.”
“Me? No. Not at all. I just can’t help thinking about it, you know?” She steeples his hands together and presses his nose to his knuckles as he exhales deeply. He drops his arms and sits back, “but I’m here so I won’t dwell on it,” he combs back his dark locks as he looks at you.
His hair is slightly messy, he has stubble poking through around his jaw, and his navy tee shirt has a small hole along the arm. Even on his days off, Clark is put together. Seeing him slightly disheveled, you realise he’s not telling the whole truth. You suppose that he’s too embarrassed to. Besides, it’s none of your business.
“So, what’s the plan? You got something exciting going on?” He asks as he drapes his arm over the side of the chair, “hope I didn’t crash some big house party you had in mind.”
“House party? No, I’m not really into those,” you reply, “I don’t know. I’m pretty lazy. I’ve been reading, mostly.”
You reach for your can of sparkling water and take a sip. As you do, your stomach clenches at the trickle of carbonation, reminding you of how long it’s been since you’ve even thought of food. You’ve only had a cup of coffee and it does little to ease the clutching in your gut.
“You eaten?” He asks, noting the loud grumble.
“Uh, not really,” you answer, “haven’t really thought about it.”
“That’s not good,” he declares. He’s such a dad. “I’ll take care of lunch, you sit out here and relax.”
“You don’t have to–”
“I want to,” he insists as he stands, “you know, Jonny gets all that energy from me. I need stuff to keep me busy or I got a bit crazy.”
“Ah,” you force a chuckle, “makes sense, Lois doesn’t seem the type.”
“Mmm, no, she doesn’t,” he agrees, grimly, “need anything, you know where to find me.”
“Alright, thanks again.”
“Sorry,” he sighs, “I’m a dad, I can’t help but take care of people.”
He goes to the door and lets himself in. You go back to your phone, weighing the effort of running upstairs to grab your book, instead thumbing at the screen without purpose. You just can’t seem to settle down.
It will go away but for now, everything just feels so off, your company included. As nice as Clark is, you can’t help but think of the strange night you spent at his place. It was harmless, better forgotten. The last thing you even need to worry about.
