Author’s Note: This is for my darling @mrs-dr-reid, when I saw it was your birthday, I had to write a little something for you. Happy birthday again! <3
----
The sun peeked through the curtains just as your alarm went off. Your boyfriend, Buck, had a habit of closing the curtains before he left for work which you didn’t mind on your days off but today, you couldn't wait to get out of bed.
See, today was a special day. It was your birthday and Buck had been hinting all week that he had a surprise for you.
“Babe?!” you shouted as you rolled out of bed.
Peering over the railing, you looked around for your boyfriend, but he was nowhere to be found. You picked up your phone to find a few messages, birthday wishes from your mom and your siblings before you came across a text from Buck.
From Buck: Headed into work early, covering for Eddie. Chris came down with something so he took him to the doctors. See you at work, love you
To Buck: Okay, love you too
Huh. No birthday wish. It was a bit strange considering how excited he was but you didn’t think anything of it. Maybe he would tell you at work. You replied to your siblings and just as you were going to reply to your mom, she called you. You spoke with her as you got ready for work. She wished you well before letting you go.
The drive to the station was quicker than expected. Walking in, it seemed like a normal day, you went through your routine- changing, clock in and head up for breakfast. You braced yourself, hoping that maybe there was a surprise for you but nope, just a regular old day. Hen was sitting on the couch, her legs up on the table with Chimney beside her in the same position, both of them saying good morning as you passed by. You smiled at them on your way to the kitchen, your boyfriend had his back turned to you, he was getting a cup of coffee.
Your arms wrap around his waist, hugging him from behind. “Hey you” you smile, Buck’s hand comes down to rest on top of yours, “good morning baby. Want some coffee?” he turns, a mug in his other hand. You sigh, looking up at your boyfriend- head tilted slightly with a small smile on your face.
“What ?” he smiles too, his expression mirroring yours. Shaking your head, you smile, “nothing. You just look cute that's all.”
“Hm, so do you” he leans, meeting you halfway before giving you a kiss.
“I’ll be back love, I forgot my phone in my locker” you give his hip a squeeze before unwrapping your arms from him and heading down the stairs. Once you reach the locker room, you see Eddie in there. Knocking on the wall to give him a heads up, he turns to the door. “Oh hey” he smiles and turns back to his locker.
“Hey, how’s Chris feeling ?”
“Chris ?” he trails off, he was unsure what you were talking about.
“Buck said Chris wasn’t feeling well. You took him to the doctors ?” leaning against the lockers, you look at Eddie. You watch as his confusion changes into understanding.
“Oh yeah, stomach bug he picked up at school. Carla’s at home with him” he says, he gave you another smile before stepping out of the room.
You find your phone and sit on one of the benches. You find a few more messages from your friends from high school and such - not that you didn’t appreciate them, it was just that none of the messages were from who you really wanted one from. Regardless, you said thank you and moved on.
Heading back up to the kitchen,  the team had made themselves comfortable at the table and they were having a conversation until they saw you. The conversation stopped, they were all looking at you.
“Come sit, breakfast is gonna get cold” Bobby smiles, nodding towards the chair beside Buck.
You take a seat next to your boyfriend, he smiles at you as his hand comes down and rests on your thigh. “Did I interrupt something just now?” questioning, you take a sip of coffee which you soon realized was Buck judging by the overpowering sweetness.
“We were just talking about the latest episode, Buck said you hadn't seen it yet” Hen tells you, you hum.
Breakfast was interrupted by the sound of blaring alarms. Everyone loaded up onto the truck, you could feel the awkwardness building by the second. From Buck leaving early this morning, to Eddie seeming confused about taking Chris to the doctors and then the dropped conversation at breakfast- something was off today.
Nonetheless, you pushed all the awkwardness aside and did your job. There was a little kid who gotten himself stuck at the top of a tree but his father couldn't go up to get him because the branch was about to break. The entire team wasn't exactly needed, Eddie got up on the ladder and got the little boy down.
You were sitting on the curb of the street when Buck found you. “Hey, we’re about to leave.” the displeasure evident on your face, Buck sat beside you.
“Are you okay babe ?”
“What day is it today ?”
“The 5th, why ?”
“So you know what day it is then”
“Well yeah” Buck chuckled, “are you sure you’re alright ?” he asked once more, you hummed before getting up and leaving him at the side of the road.
---
The station was quiet, most of the team had left half an hour ago. Hen was on her way home to Karen and the kids, Chimney was going on a date with Maddie and Eddie was on his way home to his little boy. Your boyfriend Buck, also headed home because he was tired.
Bobby had made dinner and it didn’t seem fair for everyone to leave and have him be stuck with paperwork and dishes so you stuck around and tidied up a bit. After clearing the table and washing the dishes, as well as sticking the leftovers in the fridge, you head down to change and then go home. Seeing that it was empty, you took your sweet time changing. You were sitting on the bench, putting on your shoes when you saw Bobby coming towards you.
“Did you clean the kitchen ?” he asks, stepping further into the locker room.
“Yeah, I heard that you had some paperwork so it didn’t seem fair that you got stuck cleaning” you tell him.
“Thank you,” he smiles and sits beside you, “did they all leave ?”
“Yeah” you hum.
Bobby nudged your shoulder with his, “Happy birthday y/n” he smiles, you look at him- shocked. “You remembered ?” “Of course, how could I not?”
“Thanks” you give him another smile, which turns into a sigh. “What’s wrong ?”he asks you.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Isn't Athena waiting for you at home ?”
“She’ll be okay if I'm a few minutes late, what’s on your mind kid?”
“It’s just that you’re the only one that remembered” you admit to him quietly.
“Your birthday ? Surely at least Buck remembered” he looks at you.
You shake your head, sighing. “Sorry, I feel like dumb whining about it. It’s just a birthday you know ? I mean they’ve got busy lives, it’s fine” you tell him, you were trying to reassure yourself more than you were trying to convince Bobby.
“Hey, don’t apologize.” He gives your hand a squeeze, “why don’t you come over? You can have dinner with Athena and I”
“Thank you, but I couldn’t do that. I can’t crash your plans like that”
“Y/n, I assure you that you wouldn’t be crashing our plans. Plus, she’s been asking me when she’s going to see you again” he chuckles and gets up, “come on. I’ll call her and let her know that we’re coming” Bobby reaches into his pocket for his phone when you get up, you follow him outside and then the two of you head towards his house.
The whole drive over, you couldn’t stop thinking about how they forgot your birthday. You could understand everyone else- Hen, she had Karen and her family to think about. Eddie was worried about Chris who wasn't feeling the best right now and Chimney and Maddie had a baby on the way- but Buck, that one hurt.
Bobby waited for you outside and both headed in. He stepped in first, shouting for Athena as he walked in. “Honey! I’m home! Y/n’s with me!” he shouted, stepping further into the house. Bobby walked down the stairs first, the house was quiet and you hadn't heard Athena answer him either.  You followed him in, shutting the door when you stepped in. As you round the corner, you see the living room was empty, Bobby now by the dining room table with Athena.
“Y/n, sweetheart!” Athena called for you as she saw you. She made her way over, arms opened for a hug. “Happy birthday!” She pulls you in for a hug, your arms wrapping around her.
“Thank you Athena,” you give her a smile. “Hopefully, I'm not ruining any plans” She leads you towards the table, her hand now resting on your back.
“Not at all, actually we were just waiting on you” she says, your brows furrow and head tilts in confusion. She holds your shoulders and spins you towards the kitchen where the team and their families are standing.
“Happy birthday!” they all shout, you let out a laugh. “I cannot believe y’all” you’re smiling so much, it physically hurts your face. “Thank you, you guys are so sweet - and here I was thinking y’all forgot”
“How could we forget your birthday?” Chimney asks as he comes over to give you a hug, Maddie following him and repeating his actions. Maddie wasn't far along but just far enough for her bump to start showing, your hand rests on her stomach for a moment, she smiles as her hand comes up to rest on yours.
A few moments later, Hen and Karen come over, both wishing you a happy birthday as Denny and Nia give you the card they made for you. You crouch down to give them a hug, thanking them for the beautiful card they made you and promising them that it’s going to go up on the fridge when you get home.
Eddie and Chris were next, Chris wrapping his arms around your waist as he leant into your side. Your hand coming to his hair, running your fingers through it. “I thought you had the stomach bug lil man” you look down at the boy who was grinning at you. “No, dad and Buck said that so dad could pick up your birthday cake” he tells you, spilling all of his father and Buck’s secrets. “Is that so?” you ask him, looking at Eddie who was holding back a smile. “Yeah! it’s chocolate cake, I picked the flavour” he says proudly, making you smile. Chris walks off at some point while you and Eddie are talking, making his way over to Denny, Nia and Harry.
“I know we shouldn’t have lied- are you mad ?” Eddie asks, handing you a cup of a currently unknown liquid. “I mean, kinda but not really ?” you both laugh, “happy birthday y/n” Eddie kisses your cheek before walking off.
Finally your boyfriend makes his way over to you, slinging his arm over your shoulder. “Happy birthday baby” he smiles, kissing your temple as you lean into his side.
“Thank you but I’m still mad at you” you huff, turning your face away from him.
“Oh, what’s wrong ?” he asks, his thumb pushing your head back towards him. You smack his side, not hard enough to hurt him but hard enough to get his attention. “Ow! what was that for?”
“How could you let me go all day thinking that you forgot my birthday ?!”
“Because I had to come up with some way to keep this a secret! If I told you happy birthday, you'd realize I was up to something.” he tells you, you hum- not bothering to give his answer a reaction. You weren't actually mad, you were grateful that he took the time to plan a surprise party for you- you were grateful for the entire team, they truly were your family.
“Don’t be mad, c’mon” he turns towards you, his hands now on your hips and your arms come up to his shoulders. “I couldn’t stay mad at you if I wanted to”  smiling at him, he leans in and kisses you. A chorus of ‘ew’ and ‘gross’ put a halt in your moment as you both look over to see the 3 boys giggling with a very confused Nia beside them. Buck laughs, sending them on their way before turning back to you.
“I hear I have chocolate cake waiting for me somewhere”
“How’d you know that ?” he asks, obviously confused as to how you deduced the flavour of your birthday cake.
“Christopher”
“Ah man, that was supposed to be part of the surprise”
“What can I say ? My charm is irresistible, he just had to tell me” you joke, Buck chuckles. Buck pulls you closer to him, his body basically pressed against yours. “Can I tell you something ?” he looks down at you- although you weren’t super short, he still towered over you, as he did everyone because he was a giant but that’s besides the point. You hum, waiting for him to tell you whatever it is he wanted to tell you.
“It was killing me not to tell you happy birthday. You have no idea how much I just wanted to pick you up and shout it” he groans and then sighs like he’s let out the biggest secret of his life. You laugh, “well I’m glad you told me anyways” you kiss his cheek, he smiles.
“Can you get me a cupcake, please ? I think they’re in the fridge” he asks, you hum. Letting go of him, you turn to the fridge. You spot your cake in the corner, blue frosting with white lettering. Finding the tray of cupcakes, you pull it out and set it in the counter before picking out one for Buck.
When you turn, Buck was gone - well it seemed like he was until you glanced down. Buck was in front of you on his knee, the black velvet box in his hand opened, a beautiful diamond ring sitting in it.
“Y/n, you make me the happiest I’ve been in a long time. I know I always tell you that I don’t believe in soulmates but with you- it’s different. You are my soulmate, the one I’m supposed to spend the rest of my life with. From the first day you walked into the station with your “I’m new but I know my shit” attitude, I was into you because babe, that was so hot.” You both chuckle before he continues.
“You’re my best friend and I would do anything to show you how much I love you - literally anything. I love you and I really hope you love me as much as I love you because this is about really awkward if you don’t- will you marry me ?” he looks up at you, the hope glimmering in his eyes.
When you look at Buck, you saw your whole world, your lover, your future all wrapped up into one.
“Yes, I’ll marry you” you lean down, hands cupping his cheeks as you kiss him. He gets up before sliding the ring onto your finger. You hold your hand out, admiring the ring.
“Oh baby, it’s beautiful” you smile at him, his arm over your shoulder again. The two of you make your way to the backyard with everyone else.
“Guys!” Buck shouts, everyone stops and looks at the two of you. “We have an announcement to make,” he says, looking at you and smiling.
“We’re getting married!” You both shout simultaneously.
Everyone’s just as shocked as you were moments ago in the kitchen. “What?!” Chimney shouts back, making you laugh. You hold your hand out, showing him the ring. “Holy shit,” he turns back, looking at everyone. “They’re getting married”
Soon enough everyone comes over to congratulate the two of you, one by one. You and Buck stood together, he was talking to Bobby and Athena, his arm still over your shoulder. You look around the backyard, everyone’s smiling and happy.
This was your happy place, these people were your family and you wouldn’t want it any other way.

Sauriosapien
M sairosapien X F human, 6,429 words.
This story does not have a reader-insert because I wanted to focus a little bit more on some characters that I came up with. This involves an established relationship, some fluff, and four tiny velociraptors. Enjoy!
The sun was blazing hot in the sky, so much so that it was uncomfortably warm even in the shade. A heavy mugginess hung in the air, so much so that Grace felt like she was inhaling through a damp rag. Sweat soaked through her loose ranger clothes. Even with her sleeves and pant legs rolled up, she was still overly warm. Fortunately, the trees were closely clustered enough that the sun only peeped through in tiny patches, dappling a few small areas of the ground.
Despite being so hot that she barely wanted to move, her tiny pack of velociraptors was running around like their tails were on fire. Rococo was perched in one of the trees, chattering furiously at Boho, who had her head stuck under the roots of one of the larger trees. Minimalism was hunched behind Grace’s legs while Maximalism oscillated between chattering at her and trying to snatch one of the tiny amphibians crawling through the damp undergrowth.
“C’mon babies!” Grace called, her voice higher pitched. “We got hunting to do!” She lifted her clicker and pressed the button a few times.
Rococo hopped out of the tree and skidded to a stop in front of Grace. Boho was right behind her. Maximalism fell into line next, chittering eagerly until Minimalism crept up next to him. Grace cooed to them. “Good, good! Okay, here. Sniff this.”
She crouched until she was on their level and held out a chunk of eggshells. Rococo’s nose was there in a second, snuffling intently. The other three were less enthusiastic, but Grace made sure they all got a good sniff before she stood back up. “Okay, babies! Go hunting!”
She clicked the pointer three times in rapid succession. Rococo placed her nose to the ground. A moment later, she gave a triumphant croak and took off into the trees. Boho and Maximalism fanned out on either side of her, with Minimalism bringing up the rear.
Grace ran after them. Despite only being the size of cats, the raptors were fast. Only the rustling in the undergrowth ahead of her let her know where her pack was. They called back and forth, little piping noises that blended with the usual cacophony of the forest.
Running was easy for Grace. Her body settled into an easy rhythm, burning with exertion, but not agonizingly so. She kept up a steady pace, keeping her raptors just in her sight. They worked best when she wasn’t crowding them.
After about fifteen minutes, Boho sent up a hooting signal. The rest of the raptors peeled off, following her lead. Grace followed them, slowing her pace as she approached so she didn’t trample over anything important.
Her raptors were chittering excitedly when she came upon them. Between the four of them, barely concealed in the branches, there was a nest of off-white eggs. Grace crouched next to it, voice hushed. “Okay, come back, babies. Yes, yes, good job.” Treats were passed out to the whole team, with a special helping going to Boho. She chittered and preened, giving the rest of the raptors superior looks. Grace laughed. Their little competitions inspired them to work harder, and Boho and Rococo had a particular rivalry.
Treats dished out, Grace reached into one of her back pockets and pulled out a notebook. She jotted down her rough coordinates, the size of the nest, and the number of eggs. Donning gloves, she prodded and poked at the eggs, rotating them and checking for unusual shell weakness, cracks, or any other signs of disease. Satisfied, she returned the eggs to the nest and carefully covered them once more. She walked over to one of the nearby trees and scored the bark before applying a sandy substance made from a mixture of crushed insects. The bitter, acrid smell was sharp enough to make Grace shy away, but it wouldn’t bother the mother of the nest and it would let her raptor pack know they had already visited that area.
The nearby undergrowth rustled. Grace drew up stiff, her raptors circling around her. Rococo sniffed at the air, head twitching back and forth. Then she dropped out of her alert posture and chirped reassuringly to the others. The rest of the raptors relaxed and Grace followed their lead. They would only be this relaxed around someone they knew. So, the person coming through the trees must be-
A flash of green and pink darted out from between the trees and skidded to a stop. He stood just as upright as a human, but he balanced on large, bird-like talons. His tail swung behind him, acting as a counterbalance. A massive hot pink crest of feathers covered the last quarter of his tail and crowned his head. Fangs glinted as his mouth stretched into a smile.
“Gracie.” There was a slight rasp in his voice, a noise that traced deliciously through Grace’s head and sent tingles along the back of her neck. “I’ve been looking all over for you.”
“Howdy,” Grace said, tilting her hat back. “You could have just waited for me to head back to town. I’m kind of working right now.” No sooner had the words left her mouth than Rococo charged their visitor. The rest of the pack followed her, working their small, feathered wings to propel their jumps so they could attach themselves to his chest. He staggered under the unexpected weight and sank to the ground, lifting his tail awkwardly to prevent his crest from getting dirtied.
“Seems like these guys want a break,” he said. Minimalism chittered wildly from her position on his lap while Boho buried her face into his head crest. Rococo, perched on his shoulder, made an attempt to corral her subordinates that was cut off when Maximalism started snapping at her tail feathers.
“Seems more like someone’s being a distraction,” Grace said. She gave a sharp whistle. Rococo, Maximalism, and Minimalism snapped to attention and formed their line in front of her. Boho kept her face pressed into his crest until Rococo rounded back and drove her into position.
He carefully got back to his feet, brushing dirt off his clothes. “I’m surprised you’re working,” he said. There was something deliberately airy and casual in his voice. Too casual. Grace paused, taking her attention off her raptors.
“Why are you surprised?” she asked carefully. She tried to rack her brain. Was she forgetting something?
“Oh,” he sighed, scanning the trees around him. “It’s nothing major. Only that you told me last week you were going to take a day off so we could actually spend some time together.”
Ah. Shit. Grace felt her face go hot with shame. Oops. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to- I totally forgot what day it was!” She considered blaming it on her unfamiliarity with the Sauriosapien calendar, but that wouldn’t have been true- even with the standard human calendar, she was always mixing up dates and forgetting things.
He frowned. His crest was pulled tight against his head, feathers tucked in to display his irritation. That was far worse than the aggressive puff he showed off when he was really and truly pissed; this was more akin to someone saying ‘I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed.’
“Look, I really am sorry. Uh, hold on. Let me take these guys back home and get a little washed up, and maybe change into some nicer clothes and I’ll be right there.”
He shook his head. “Don’t bother. You’re already out here and in the middle of work, and these guys are already all wound up.” He gestured to Boho, who was practically twitching with the effort of staying still and in line. “I was just coming to make sure nothing happened to you.”
Grace felt her shoulders droop. “Oh. Thanks for that.” Her eyes were stinging slightly with humiliation and anger at herself. “I’m sorry you came out all this way. Maybe we can go out tomorrow?”
He shook his head. “I took off work today.” Irritation was thick in his voice again. Grace slumped her shoulders. He worked in a particularly popular boutique and getting specific days off was always difficult for him.
“Are you sure you don’t just want me to go home? I can always do this tomorrow. I’ll just let everyone out in the yard and they’ll run themselves out,” she said.
He gave a snort, his lips twitching into a half-smile. “You remember what happened the last time they were in the yard for more than an hour without supervision.”
Grace grimaced. As many times as she reinforced the fence and made it taller, the raptors found a new way to get out. The last time, Rococo and Boho had managed to dig underneath until the chicken wire had come loose and had squirmed free. Everyone but a very lonely Minimalism had been gone by the time Grace made it back, and she’d spent much of the night tramping through the forest looking for them. “Then they can go in the coop. They’ll destroy it, but I can clean it up later.”
“That’s not fair to them,” he said, and despite the situation, Grace felt her heart surge with affection. Even pissed off, even if it would benefit him not to, he cared for her raptors. “You’ve already wound them up for work. Just let them continue.”
“Are you really sure?” Grace asked. He waved a hand at her dismissively.
“I’m sure.” He gave her a smile, though it was clearly tense and tinged with sadness. “I know you have a lot of difficulty with remembering dates and things that aren’t on your schedule, but… well, I really would like to spend time with you more often than a couple evening every week. And it’s frustrating when you don’t remember these kinds of things.”
“I know. I’m really sorry. It’s not that it’s not important to me. It is! It’s just… if things aren’t part of my schedule and I don’t have reminders, then I tend to forget them.” She pulled her hat off and ran her fingers through her hair. “You know I missed my own birthday a couple years ago?”
He looked at her a little blankly. “Er… that’s important?”
Right, egg-laying people didn’t think about birthdays the same way. “Uh. It’s like forgetting your hatching day, I guess, but birthdays have more cultural significance to us.” He nodded slowly, though he didn’t seem to understand. “Days just kind of all blur together for me. Time is a flat circle and a total scam and I don’t know dates very well and I’m sorry. That’s what I’m trying to say.”
He stared, but his lips were quirking like he was trying to hold back a smile. “We’ll have to work on this in the future. I just came out to make sure that you were all right.” He turned, waving a four-fingered hand over his shoulder. “I’ll see you when you’re home from work.”
“Velly, wait!” He paused, looking over his shoulder. Grace swept her had back up onto her head and offered him an apologetic smile. “I, uh. I feel bad that you came all the way out here for nothing. Why don’t you stay a little bit?”
Vel paused. “You’re working.”
“I know. But I mean, the pack knows you pretty well. You probably won’t be much of a distraction for them.”
He tried to give her a serious look, but his lips were twitching again. “I’m pretty sure that you’re not supposed to be on a date during the work day either.”
“No one will find out. We’re in the middle of the park. You just need to head back before I go to the ranger’s center. And it’s not like you didn’t already sneak in.”
He laughed. “Well. Yes. That’s true.” His crest fluffed up, his tail swinging back and forth. “Are you going to have to take me in?”
“Hey, if you give me any trouble, I might have to cuff you,” Grace said with a grin. She didn’t miss the little shiver that moved through Vel’s crest. “Maybe I’ll just restrain you and leave you in the woods for anyone to find…”
Rococo, apparently irritated at being ignored, took that moment to nip at Grace’s boot.
“Okay, okay! Come on, let go.” She shook her boot and the raptor detached. Rococo trotted back to the others, but Grace could tell her patience wasn’t going to hold for much longer. “Like I was saying,” she continued, turning back to Vel, “I can’t trust you to leave on your own, so I guess you’re going to just have to come with me. No trying to escape or anything.”
Vel grinned. “No, ma’am.”
Grace turned back to her raptors and clicked her clicker. They all skittered back into formation, looking up at her expectantly. “All right. We found one. Go get another one!” She clicked the clicker rapidly and the raptors took a moment to snuffle at the ground before plunging into the trees. Grace took off after them, Vel following her.
The raptors pulled ahead again, stunningly fast for such little animals. Grace followed at a small distance, careful not to go at much more than a jog. She was fast, for a human, but she couldn’t maintain the speed for very long. As long as she could trace their path through the trees and hear their calls back and forth, she could track them.
The bigger concern was Vel. He was already starting to lag, even after only a minute or so of running. He was not as well-trained as Grace, nor as fit, and no sauriosapien was as good of an endurance runner as a human. He might be able to outrun her in a sprint, but the further they went, the less likely that was.
Vel looked to be on the verge of collapse by the time the raptors called out again and came to a halt at another next. Grace, slightly winded, leaned on the nearby tree. Vel hunched over, making wheezing noises like his lungs were going to come out of his mouth.
“You good?” Grace said. He gave her a thumbs-up, then sagged all the way to the ground.
“I can see why they like humans to do this job,” he said. He rested one of his hands on his chest as he panted. “I think my heart’s going to explode out of my chest.”
“Hey, humans may be better at endurance running in general, but a sauriosapien could do this job,” Grace said as she bent down to uncover the nest. “Don’t throw your whole species under the bus because you’re really out of shape.”
Maximalism had found the nest, and he was crowing over the others, holding his second treat in his mouth like a prize. Minimalism crawled up next to him, chittering anxiously until he allowed her to take a tiny nibble of the treat, then he gulped it down. Grace waved them off, checking the size and integrity of the nest.
Vel, having recovered slightly, rolled onto his side to watch her. “What exactly are you doing with that nest?”
“I told you about this the other night,” Grace said, not looking up from the nest. Vel pushed himself up into a sitting position, shifting his robes around him.
“Yeah, but I had a hard time figuring it out. I’m better when I can actually see what you’re doing.” He crept closer, though he paused a short distance away, like he was concerned that his presence would disturb the nest.
“There’s a few species of microraptors whose nests have been damaged recently. There’s some kind of disease that’s been going around and causing all sorts of problems with the shells.” She covered the nest back up and scent-marked it. “I’ve been trying to tag the number of nests there are and making sure the eggs are in good shape. If we find any nests where the eggs look weak, we’ll tag them and collect the eggs. Hopefully we’ll be able to raise them until they can hatch and be returned to the wild.”
“Oh,” Vel said. He crept a little closer. “How’s this nest doing?”
“All good. I haven’t actually seen too many bad eggs in the past couple of days I’ve been doing this. Hopefully that means that the disease hasn’t been spreading too much.” She gestured to the raptors and clicked at them. They circled up around her. “And we’re keeping our eyes peeled for any rat dens we find. If we locate those, we-”
Minimalism let out a loud peep and darted out of the circle. She plunged her narrow muzzle into a nearby bush, snapping wildly. There was a squeak, some thrashing, and Minimalism withdrew her head. A rat dangled from her jaws.
“Oh, good girl!” Grace got down on one knee. Minimalism ran over, giving up the rat in favor of another treat. “Yes, you’re a good girl! You’ve done very well!” She carefully placed the rat into a plastic bag and eased that into her pack.
“What do you do with the rats?” Vel asked. He looked mostly recovered from his mad dash, his crest perking up once more.
“Send them to a lab. They usually run some tests on them, try to do a blood panel and figure out if they’ve got any diseases they’re spreading. There’s been some concerns that the rats are actually spreading the disease that’s causing the nest weaknesses.” Grace got back to her feet, her knees cracking loudly. “Ugh, I’m like an old woman.”
“And yet, you’re still more fit than me,” Vel said. He clambered to his feet and shook his robes free of leaf litter and debris from lying on the ground. “Do we have to run again?”
Grace laughed. “I’ll see if I can slow these guys down, so we can give you a break.” She clicked at the raptors a few times. “All right, slow, babies.” Rococo chirped in confirmation, then turned and chittered at the other raptors. Satisfied her message had been conveyed, she took off, the others fanning out behind her. Grace straightened back up. “Come on.”
This time, they went at a light jog. It barely winded Grace, but Vel still struggled to keep up. At least this time, he wasn’t wheezing so alarmingly when he breathed, so Grace didn’t have to be constantly worried he was going to collapse.
Vel was at least able to keep up as they tracked down and assessed the nests. The frequent breaks they took while Grace examined the eggs seemed to be helping him keep up, but by the middle of the day, he was definitely flagging. Even Grace, with her much better stamina and training, was starting to feel the beginnings of exhaustion.
“We’ll take a break,” she said, signaling the raptors. They were starting to look fatigued as well, mouths hanging open as they panted and their feathers drawn tight against their body in an effort to calm them down. “I need to eat lunch anyway.”
Vel collapsed next to her as she spread out a mat and set down her packed lunch. “Here. I brought some dried meat with me.” She offered him a package wrapped in paper. He opened it and pulled out a jerky strip.
“Thanks.” She knew it wasn’t his favorite, but he ate it without complaint.
“I don’t have much for you,” she said, digging through the pack. “I know running around all afternoon must be making you hungry. Er, I might have a few hard-boiled eggs.”
“I don’t want to take your lunch,” Vel said as he snapped down another strip of meat. “You need to eat more than I do.”
Humans, thanks to their endothermy, needed to eat much more frequently than sauriosapiens- at least three meals a day, nearly two thousand calories, compared to the typical two-meal, thousand calorie diets of the sauriosapiens. The sauriosapiens were only selectively endothermic, with their bodies heating up with exercise and cooling down when they were inactive or sleeping. That meant their bodies could manage with far fewer calories, though after running around for a while, there was quite a large loss of energy.
“Missing one meal won’t kill me. I’ll be fine.” Grace pulled out a couple of hard-boiled eggs. They were large enough to fill her palm, much larger than the chicken eggs she’d been used to at home. She passed one to Vel, who hesitated for a moment before cracking the shell with his claws.
“Thank you.” He took a bite out of the white, eyes drifting half-shut as he tasted the rich fattiness of the yolk. A lot of food in sauriosapien culture was fixated on fattiness and oils. It was an easy way to get calorie-rich food, considering that they couldn’t taste sugar and were fairly carnivorous. Grace hadn’t eaten much in the way of refined sugar since she’d arrived, only managing to scrounge a few pieces of fruit that she grew herself. She took a piece of dried fruit from her bad and chewed idly on it.
The raptors gathered together, chittering and playing with each other. Grace watched as they tumbled around, hopping over each other, nipping at tails, and generally enjoying themselves. She could see Vel giggling at them out of the corner of her eye.
“Thank you for coming with me,” she said. Vel licked some egg yolk off his finger as he turned toward her.
“Well, we were supposed to have a date today,” he said. There was a slightly sarcastic edge to his voice. Grace ducked her head, a flush of shame touching her cheeks.
“I really am sorry about that. I’ll make it up to you,” she promised.
“I knew what I was getting into then I started dating you,” Vel said. “Remember when there was a holiday in the middle of the week and you tried to go into work anyway?”
Grace pulled her hat down over her head to hide her face. “Ugh. Please don’t remind me.”
Vel laughed into his hand. “You were messed up for the rest of the week. Kept thinking you had days off when you didn’t… and the raptors were confused too! Poor Rococo, she started yelling at you, trying to get you to go out and then you started to think maybe she was right and not you…”
Grace swatted his shoulder. “Keep teasing me and I’ll make good on my threat to tie you up.”
“Will you?” Vel asked, his voice dropping into a lower register. Grace pressed a finger to his forehead and pushed him back, causing him to break into another fit of soft giggles.
A shaft of sunlight broke through the trees and fell across Vel’s face. His green scales gleamed under the sun, glossy as ocean-smoothed glass. Grace took a moment to just take in his face. His teeth gleamed, sharp as knives, but somehow also attractive. His eyes were glistening, beautiful gold. Grace swore that when the sunlight struck them, they illuminated like a chunk of pyrite. His feathered crest twitched and flared. The motion of the feathers was always fascinating, the way they ruffled in response to his emotions. Touching them was always a wonderful experience. Feeling their slight motions against her fingers was grounding, the reassuring contact of another living being that trusted her completely.
Vel was attractive, by both human and sauriosapien standards. The human standards would be satisfied by his reasonably tall stature with smooth, lithe muscles, his flowing grace, and his fine-boned face. The sauriosapien standards were satisfied by the bright green of his scales and the brilliant pink of his head and tail crests. Not only were they an incredibly vibrant pink, but they were thick and full and expressive. Grace had seen the interested looks of other sauriosapiens when they walked through town together. Whether or not they approved of his relationship with her, she wasn’t sure. She could observe their attraction to Vel with a sort of clinical detachment, but when it came to how people viewed her, she had no idea.
“Are you still hungry?” Vel asked. She looked down. His head had migrated onto her lap somehow, and the side of his face was pressed against her middle. “I can hear your stomach growling.”
“I’ll be fine,” she said. “I know a place-” She trailed off. Huh. Maybe she could really make up for screwing up their date.
“You know a place?” Vel prompted, lifting his head. She turned her attention back to him and scratched along his crest in that just-right spot. He made a trilling noise and went nearly limp.
“Never mind. We need to get moving.” She carefully tucked any wrappers and containers back into her bag and swung it up onto her shoulders. Vel got to his feet, shaking some leaf litter from his clothes. They were in typical sauriosapien style, which meant they looked a little like a fancy hospital gown to Grace’s eyes. They were essentially robes that clipped together in the back, which gave ample space for their tail. She’d seen a few sauriosapiens try to put on human clothes before, which was always amusing. The head holes were never big enough to accommodates their stiff crests, and the pants were just a complete disaster, what with their digitigrade legs and tails.
On the other hand, humans who wore sauriosapien clothes, along with the inherent indignity of the outfits nearly always being too big, tended to have their asses hanging out through the tail hole, so it went both ways.
They started through the forest once more, this time with Grace reigning her raptors in close. A series of whistles and click signals kept them close by, though she couldn’t prevent them from running ahead at least a little bit. They jumped in and out of the undergrowth, scaling the trees on occasion and snapping at insects that settled nearby.
“Are we still looking for nests?” Vel asked. Despite the slowed pace, he was still panting a little. Going to slow was nearly maddening for Grace, but she slowed down a hair more.
“We’re going to put a pause on that for now,” she said. “There’s somewhere I want to check out first.”
“Oh,” Vel said. He fell silent, devoting most of his energy to walking. Grace focused her attention on watching the raptors jump around. Rococo snapped a bright flower from a nearby bush and bolted back to her, chittering furiously.
“Thank you,” Grace said. Rococo relinquished the flower when Grace offered her a treat in return and immediately bolted back to the others, chirping with excitement. Within moments, the other raptors were gathering up flowers and offering them to Grace. Her arms filled with the sweet-smelling blooms, the raptors chittering and hopping up and down around her.
“All right, all right, that’s enough,” Grace said. She waved her hand at them, dismissing them. They plunged back into the undergrowth to find some other game to play.
“Did you train them to do that?” Vel asked, looking at the flowers with amusement.
“No, they kind of trained themselves,” Grace said. “They know that performing certain behaviors will get them treats. If one of them sees another getting a treat for something, they’ll all repeat it until I stop giving treats. They know that when I make the cut of signal, though, no more treats are coming and they need to stop. I don’t want them completely stripping the forest of flowers to get treats.” She gathered the flowers in her arms into a bouquet. “Here.”
Vel blinked as she thrust the flowers into his arms. They were a cacophony of bright colors that complimented his brilliant pink crest. “Oh,” he said. He wasn’t able to blush, thanks to his scales, but his tail whipped back and forth so fast it knocked down a sapling. His crest flared, feathers spreading into a brightly colored crown. “Thank you.” He adjusted them to sit in the crook of his elbow. “I’ve never gotten flowers before.”
“Really? I find that hard to believe. You’ve got a lot of admirers, you know.” Not only was he handsome, but his shy, slightly submissive personality was considered the height of masculinity to sauriosapiens. Sure, males were typically expected to make the first move in relationships, performing display behaviors with their feathers and showing off for any females they were interested in, but Vel would have had enough admirers that one of them would have taken it upon themselves to ask him out.
“I don’t know about a lot,” Vel said, his crest twitching with embarrassment. “And we don’t really give flowers as gifts. Carved bones or teeth are more likely. But I know flowers are more important to humans.” He removed one of the flowers with the longest stems and turned to tuck it into Grace’s hair. His claws were sharp enough that any touch against Grace’s thin human skin was dangerous, but she’d never felt any sort of threat from him. He didn’t even cut a hair as he slid the flower into place behind her ear.
“Really important is an exaggeration. But it’s a common gift.” She carefully adjusted the flower so it wouldn’t fall out. “Here, let me.” She plucked another flower from the bouquet, picking a pale yellow one that would offset the hot pink nicely, and tucked it into his crest. He made a soft rumbling noise in his chest as her fingers trailed along the edge of his crest.
There was an irritated chirping at her feet. Grace looked down to see Rococo and Maximalism peering up at her. Boho and Minimalism were only slightly further back, also staring. Their impatient gazes made Grace realize that she and Vel had simply been staring into each other’s eyes, not moving at all.
“We should keep going,” she said. She waved her hand to the raptors. They took off into the trees. “Come on.” Without thinking, she linked her fingers through his and pulled him along after her.
Vel struggled to keep up with her still, so she was very much dragging him through the undergrowth. He clutched her hand with both of his as he panted. “Uh. Hah… Could… Gracie, could we please slow down a little?”
She slowed her steps just a bit and he stumbled into her, letting his body weight fall onto her. She bore it with only a little effort. He was almost exactly her height, but all sauriosapiens were light-boned and limber, so he weighed less than he appeared to. “Do you want me to carry you?” she teased, thought she knew he would say no. It was probably for the best. She could have lifted him for a while, but it was awkward carrying something the same size as her and she couldn’t carry something even only three-quarters of her body weight for a long time.
“No. You just gotta stop moving so fast. I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack.” Vel lay a hand over his chest as he straightened up. Once he’d managed to regain his breath, he glanced around the forest in curiosity. “Where are we?”
The trees were thicker around them, their canopies clustered close together so their leaves blocked most of the sun. The humidity of the forest was thicker, but the lack of sunlight added a little coolness to the air. Without as much sun reaching the forest floor, the undergrowth had mostly cleared. The raptors hopped around the enormous tree roots, even darting under a few particularly enormous ones that bulged up from the ground.
“We’re closer to the middle of the forest. Come this way.” Grace picked her way over a few of the larger roots. Vel followed, his hand still gripping at hers. The ground grew damp under their feet the further they went. Vel managed it a lot better than Grace did- his feet were broader, allowing him to balance well on the spongey ground. A couple of times, his grip on Grace’s arm saved her from falling face-first into the muck.
Grace picked her way over the crest of a small hill and stopped. “Okay. We’re here.”
Vel peeked over her shoulder and his breath caught. The raptors, chittering with delight, hopped down along the sloping ground in front of them until they hit the waterfront.
In the middle of a circle of trees, covered with tangled green vines, there was a crystalline spring of water. Lily-like flowers dotted the surface, adding splashes of bright color in the green.
“Oh!” Vel said. His crest flared and his tail whipped back and forth. Grace couldn’t help but smile at the look on his face. “Oh, it’s gorgeous. I’ve never seen this place before. I didn’t even know it was here.”
“Technically, we’re not supposed to be here. It’s in the restricted section of the park, because of these.” Grace crouched down and pointed toward a particularly thick patch of lilies. Under the plants there was a tiny, darting crowd of fish.
“Because of fish?” Vel said, crouching next to her. The fish were small, barely longer than the first two joints of his finger, and mostly tail. They had mostly dull coloration, except for a brilliant red splash on their backs. He reached his finger toward the water, like he was about to stroke them, then pulled back with a cautious look at Grace.
“I wouldn’t touch them,” she said. “They’re sensitive little things. And they’re not actually fish. They’re the tadpole stage of a kind of amphibian.”
“Like a frog?” Vel said.
“Sort of. A little more like salamanders, actually. They’re about this big, only as long as your hand, and they’re pretty similar in coloration to these little guys. Mostly greenish-brown, with a big splash of red on their backs. They’re pretty uncommon in the area, though. Most of the time, they lay their eggs in the rainy season, when a lot of temporary puddles form. When they fully metamorphosize, they find a damp spot and bury underground until the next rainy season, when they can find a mate and lay their eggs.” Grace indicated the circumference of the pond. “This spot’s the only place where you can consistently find them. It’s fed from an underground spring, so it’s here year-round. Every year, you can find a few tadpoles here. We use it to keep an eye on the population.”
“How come no one’s allowed to know about it?” Vel asked.
“Uh, the tadpoles get hunted a lot. See the red spot on their backs? That secretes a kind of hallucinogenic substance. It’s deadly to sauriosapiens, and to most other species here, but to mammals, it acts more like a slightly milder form of acid.” Vel gave her a bewildered look. “Uh, it’s like a euphoria-inducing drug that can give you really nice hallucinations. Humans like it a lot. There’s a big underground market for it, so smugglers try to catch the tadpoles every year. But because the nests move every year, they need to look for them. We’ve done a pretty good job so far at keeping this spot safe- as long as they can’t find a regular spot to pull the tadpoles from, their hunting shouldn’t put too much of a strain on the population.”
Vel nodded. “It’s a shame. It’s beautiful here.”
Grace nodded. “It’s one of the prettier locations. If you stay here for a while, you can usually see some animals come through to drink.” She let her hands hang at her side, pinky finger just barely brushing against Vel’s. “Thank you, by the way.”
He glanced at her. “For what?” “For forgiving me. For coming along with me on my work day. For being understanding. For letting me speak about the tadpoles. I don’t often get to discuss these things with other people.”
“Oh. You don’t need to thank me for that. I like listening to you speak. You have a very soothing voice.” Vel was quiet for a second. “Oh, and you’re welcome.”
Grace hummed and threaded her free hand through his crest. His eyes drifted shut. He leaned back against her. A soft rumble sounded through his chest, almost like a purr. Grace felt her eyes closing as well. It was beautifully warm, and if she shifted a little and dangled her feet in the water, it added a cool, soothing element. Vel shifted a little to wrap his arms around her.
And then about twelve pounds of velociraptor cannonballed itself into Grace’s stomach.
She jerked, limbs flailing involuntarily. Vel’s head, previously resting on her shoulder, shot up. The soft dirt at the edge of the pond crumbled under their sudden movements and gave way. Vel barely had time to shriek before he slid sideways into the water.
Grace, sitting on a better-structured patch of dirt, didn’t slip, but was soaked anyway by Vel’s panicked flailing. It calmed within a moment when he realized the pond was only about five feet deep and he could stand pretty easily. He shook his head, spraying water from his crest.
“Ow,” Grace said. Boho, the raptor who had launched into her stomach, blinked innocently. The three other raptors watched with the wide eyed interest of children whose sibling had just broken a prized possession.
Vel spat out a mouthful of water. “Are you all right?”
“Nothing I haven’t been through before,” Grace said, fixing Boho with her sternest stare. Boho’s crest drooped and she crept off of Grace’s lap like a scolded puppy. “Are you all right?”
“Wet,” Vel said. He braced his arms on the bank and heaved himself up. “But not harmed.” He shook himself off like a wet dog. The water cleared fairly easily from his scaly skin, but his crest and tail were saturated, as was his outfit. Grace’s clothes were similarly soaked.
“I was going to suggest that we headed back,” Grace said, “but I suppose it makes more sense to wait here until we dry off.”
Vel smiled, sharp teeth glinting. “Maybe we should get out of these wet clothes, first? It might help them dry quicker.”
Grace lifted an eyebrow, but she couldn’t help a tiny laugh. “I suppose.” She smiled at him as he stood and started to undo the straps of his clothes. “I love you.”
Vel paused in his undressing to kiss her forehead. “I love you, too.” His grin widened and became wicked. “Now strip.”

Never Alone- Namjoon Oneshot
Genre: Angst. Fluff ending?? read till the end to find out.
A/n: I’m sorry in advance.
Length: 6.4k+ oops
Masterlist
Tumblr media
It was a rough week. Probably the roughest week Namjoon has had since he debuted, he thought. He’s probably had worse weeks but this one at least took the cake for the last year or two.
He fucked up one too many things. First, he messed up choreography during one of their live stages, and the fancam happened to go viral. What he thought was a small mistake ended up trending on twitter. It wasn’t that bad, even Hoseok hadn’t berated him about it. He just didn’t like worldwide attention on his slip-up. Next, he ended up deleting an entire file on a song he was working on. No back-up or anything. It was just gone. In all his years composing music, he had always created a back-up so of course the one time he didn’t, it got deleted. Then management came to him and said he couldn’t take time off like he wanted once he got back from his Bon Voyage trip to spend with you and his family like he had wanted. It was his mother’s birthday and he didn’t know how he could face telling her that he couldn’t celebrate with her in person- again. The cherry on top had to have been when he decided to pack early for his trip and then ended up spelling an entire glass of juice into his suitcase when he tripped over the phone cable he had laying around. He felt like tossing the suitcase out the balcony with the level of frustration he was facing and he could feel the stress and anger bubble inside of him.
The boys were wary of his mood and tried their best to stay out of his way, but unfortunately no one had warned you of his increasingly angry mood. Not even your best friend, Jin, who was busy with his own work before the trip.
It was now the night before they had to leave and it was always tradition Namjoon came over to see you before he left the country, let alone Seoul. He trudged into your apartment with the spare key he had used a million times before, and if it wasn’t for his mood, he probably would have sensed the tension inside.
You weren’t aware of your boyfriend’s miserable week, since it felt like you were having a pretty bad one yourself. A few months ago, you had found out your father was dying. You and your father were never really close growing up. After your mother passed away, you and your father grew apart while grieving. You didn’t really blame him, but you grew up with the belief that you could only rely on yourself in this world, no one else. Over the last few years, you and your father have been trying to mend what little of a relationship you had, so when you found out that he was sick and needed a liver replacement, you cursed the stars for such a fate. Why did he get such a diagnosis when you just started to get to know one another again.
Earlier that day, the hospital had called and said your dad needed the surgery very soon and they were hoping to hear back about an organ donor from the next city over. Since then, you had been on edge, besides yourself. But the only comfort you knew you needed was from that of your boyfriend. But you were so out of it, you hadn’t even noticed he was there till he plopped himself onto the couch next to you, sighing loudly.
Namjoon just needed to sleep this entire week off. He loved his career, but sometimes it was...draining. Though he had 6 other brothers going through it, it looked like they seemingly had it easier. Why weren’t their mistakes broadcasted to the world? Why were some members allowed to go home when they needed it? He felt physically and mentally exhausted, it took a lot just to drive over here today. But he knew he had to see you before he was off for the next two weeks.
“Y/n I don’t think I’m going to be staying very long tonight, I’m really tired, love” he said, rubbing his eyes. It was only then that you had turned to face him, feeling the sadness engulf you twice has hard now. You just needed him to hold you right now and tell you that everything was going to be ok.
“C-can you stay?” You ask timidly. You never asked this of him. Never once had you requested more time of your boyfriend because you understood the importance of his time and career. One of the things you both valued about your relationship was that you both understood each other’s careers. While Namjoon was a world class idol, you were an up and coming lawyer. Both careers demanded a lot of your time, and yet you both made it work. And you made it work well.
“What?” he asked, still not really looking at you. “I don’t think so. I still have to pack a few things and I have an early morning” he said, looking at his watch now.
“I-I just need you tonight” you say, choking up. You were about to explain the situation before Namjoon interrupts you.
“What part of no do you not understand, Y/n?” he said loudly. This was the first time in your relationship he had ever yelled at you. “I can’t deal with this right now. No means fucking no. I thought it would be nice to stop by like I usually do, but I did not plan on coming to see my clingy girlfriend. You said you understood my career, so what the fuck is this? I’m telling you I have an early flight tomorrow and now of all days you ask me to spend the night? Jesus Y/n, either learn to accommodate to my schedule or find someone who can be here when you decide you need to cuddle or whatever” he says angrily before stomping out of your apartment.
You sat there, shocked at his remarks. You had honestly forgot he was leaving tomorrow for his trip with the boys. With everything going on with your father today, it had completely slipped your mind. Was your request really that outlandish?
(X)
Namjoon pretty much passed out as soon as he got home and finished packing, the exhaustion setting in quick. It felt like he was only asleep for a few minutes before his alarm rang a little too loud for his comfort. Before he could really comprehend everything, he was sitting in his flight seat, well on his way to New Zealand.
Slowly as he started to relax into his seat, he replayed his last week. As he was on his way to enjoy his time in a new country, he felt thankful for the experience. He eased into his seat further as he tried to sleep until he jolted up, remembering his conversation with you.
You had hardly said a sentence or two before he practically blew up at you.
“Ahh Hyung, what’s wrong, you scared me” Jungkook says, startled by his sudden actions.
“I- I had a fight with Y/n last night. Well I don’t know if you could consider it a fight, but I said some things I really didn’t mean...” Namjoon said sadly, looking down at his phone.
“It will be ok! Y/n noona is always so forgiving. Remember that time I accidently threw a water balloon at her when I was aiming for Jimin hyung? She was only annoyed for a second before she threw one right back at me!” Jungkook laughed, making Namjoon smile at the memory. You had always got along so well with all the boys having known them for so many years. Namjoon had the biggest crush on you as soon as Jin had introduced you as his childhood friend. It was only a matter of months before you both started dating.
“I hope she finds it in her heart to forgive me this time too. I don’t know if I deserve it” Namjoon says, sadly.
“Of course she will! Just call her once we land and explain everything, I’m sure she will forgive you!” Jungkook said before returning back to his movie.
(X)
As soon as the boys had landed, Namjoon yearned for a moment alone so that he could finally call you. But just like this whole week had been going, he didn’t get what he had wished for. The crew started filming as soon as they all landed and by the time they got the bags and the car, he was chosen to drive.
And drive he did. For what seemed like hours, Namjoon drove and drove. Only by the end of the first night did he find a moment to himself, when he didn’t have a mic or a camera filming.
He waiting eagerly as the phone rang, rehearsing his speech in his head. He would apologize profusely and explain his week to you and how he genuinely meant nothing he said. How foolish was he to even insinuate you find someone else when he was so head over heels in love with you. Such a beautiful and intelligent being, and more importantly understanding. The more he replayed the words he said to you in his head, the more he berated himself for spewing complete nonsense. You had been nothing but understanding of him and yet he threw that right back in your face.
He frowned as the the call went to voicemail. Should he leave a voicemail? would that do his apology any justice? He turned off the phone and called again, hoping you would answer this time.
Except you didn’t answer. You didn’t answer the next three times he called either. He sighed, realizing you were probably more mad than he had hoped. He decided to send you a text, hoping you’d read his text and decide to answer the next time he called.
Namjoon: Baby, I’m so so so sorry. I’m such an asshole, you definitely didn’t deserve anything I said last night. I promise you, I never meant any of it. I had a really rough week and I took it out on you. Please talk to me, hmm? I know you’re mad, but please let’s talk?
He waited eagerly for you to respond, but once again exhaustion took over and he passed out in the bunk bed to the sound of his brothers all sleeping too.
When he opened his eyes again, light was peeking in through the curtains. He felt disoriented, not really understanding where he was for a second. It took another few seconds before he realized he was in New Zealand, and only then, did he remember to check his phone.
He searched for his phone in the tiny bed. He sat up quickly, forgetting he was in the bottom bunk and hitting his head on the top bunk. He groaned in pain, rubbing at his head while still trying to find his phone.
He forgot to charge it so of course, the phone was completely dead when he found it. He quickly put it on charge and when the phone finally turned on, he quickly unlocked it, only to find no new texts from you.
He frowned. Maybe his phone wasn’t working? That couldn’t be true since he had received plenty of other texts from others. He sighed, sending you another text, and a sweet good morning for good measure.
Just like the previous day, the boys had a packed schedule. Between driving and filming and other activities, Namjoon barely had any time to check his phone. Any time he felt his phone vibrate within his pocket, his heart raced, hoping it was you who finally responded.
However, any time the boys had a break and he check his phone, there was no new notification from you. And for the rest of his trip, that is exactly what continued to happen. He didn’t hear from you.
On one day, while the other members decided to do various activities, he opted to spend some time alone, claiming to do some work. He spent the entire two hours he had alone trying to get in contact with you. Calling your work number, calling your phone multiple times, texting. He even tried calling a close friend of yours, who also didn’t answer.
What if you actually took his words to heart? What if you’d dump his stupid ass as soon as he was home and you’d find someone truly deserving of you. Someone who wouldn’t yell at you when you didn’t deserve it? His mind flashed with different scenes, all with you seemingly happy with another man, and he groaned in actual pain. Just imagining that engulfed his body in pain that he didn’t ever want that to happen.
At this point, after not hearing from you for almost two weeks, he just need to make sure you were ok.
Namjoon: Baby please. I know you’re mad at me, but please, just let me know if you’re ok. That you’re safe.
And once again, no response.
(x)
The boys watched Namjoon as he eagerly packed his bags in a hurry the night before flying back to Seoul. While all the boys conversed about how amazing New Zealand was and how they wish they could stay a little longer, it was clear as day that their leader was itching to go back.
“Hyung, we get that you’re dying to see your girlfriend again, but you’re making feel more and more single every second!” Taehyung complained.
Namjoon didn’t respond as he continued to gather his things and pack. He didn’t care if he had things to do as soon as he got back, the only thing he needed was to go see you and make things right.
Jin followed Namjoon into his room, closing the door behind him, “What’s gotten into you? Why are you so anxious?” he asked, sitting down on the bed and watching as Namjoon continued to pack.
“I need to see Y/n” Namjoon said plainly. He didn’t want to confide in his hyung about this one thing, because he knew how close you both were. He didn’t want his hyung to be disappointed in him.
“Yeah, I can see that, but it’s worse than usual?” Jin said.
“I- I had a fight with Y/n before we left hyung” Namjoon said, finally slowing down and hoping Jin would drop it at that. Jin waited for him to continue though. “And... and I haven’t heard from her in two weeks” Namjoon sighed, realizing he couldn’t hide it from Jin.
“What?! She hasn’t called you at all since we got here?” Jin asked.
“No. And she won’t answer her phone or even respond to my text messages. I even called her friend, and she won’t answer either. I think I really fucked up. What if she breaks up with me over this?” Namjoon says, panicking.
“Ok no, it won’t come to that. Just tell me what happened, ok?” Jin said, trying to calm down Namjoon.
And so Namjoon explained everything to his hyung. The terrible week he had, the overwhelming stress and anger he felt, the way he exploded at you, and all the terrible things he said to you.
“Wow,, that was really loaded” Jin said, sadly. He knew just as well as Namjoon that you didn’t deserve any of that. “Now that I think about it, I sent her a few pictures while we were here and she never responded to that either” Jin finally realizes.
“Oh...” Namjoon said sadly. He didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing yet. Would it have been better if you were still willing to talk to the others and not him? Or had something happened to you?
“How about as soon as we land, you take another car, buy the biggest bouquet of flowers, and go over to her place. It should be after work hours. Spend the night, I’ll explain things to our manager, hmm?” Jin offers. Namjoon smiled slightly at the gesture.
“Thank you hyung” Namjoon said. “And I’m sorry” he said truthfully.
“I’m not the one who needs the apology, stupid. Just.. don’t hurt her again.. next time I’ll whoop your ass” Jin says, smiling as he heads to his own bed to sleep.
(x)
Just like Jin had suggested, Namjoon had taken a separate van from the boys and stopped at the local flower boutique to pick up some of your favorite flowers. He even got some of your favorite cake slices at the bakery near your house too for good measure. You might be able to deny him, but there was no way you could deny that lucious coffee cake you loved oh so much.
The sun was slowly setting when Namjoon had gotten to your apartment. He took a deep breath as he held the flowers and cake and one hand and finally pulled out his keys to your place. He swallowed loudly, before opening the door, bracing for what was to come. He’d let you yell at him and take out all your frustrations out on him, but you leaving him was not an option.
“Y/n, love?” Namjoon says, finally entering your apartment. The apartment was still lit from the natural light, but it looked like no one was home. He frowned. where is she?
He decided it was just best to wait for you. He needed to see you, talk to you, hold you after what felt like forever.
After waiting for over half an hour, he finally heard the keys enter the lock on the front door. He quickly stood, gathering the flowers in hand, and squinted his eyes when the lights turned on. He hadn’t even noticed it was now completely dark outside.
“y-” he began, but frowned when he only saw your friend, Yerin instead.
“Holy shit you scared me” she said jumping. Before Namjoon could answer, he looked down at the keys she was holding, and they were clearly yours. He knew that little bear keychain he had gotten you by heart now.
“What are you doing here?” he asked. “Why do you have Y/n’s keys?” Namjoon asks, placing the flowers back down on the coffee table.
“Nice of you to finally care about someone other than yourself” Yerin snarled. Yerin was always wary of your relationship with Namjoon. She knew it couldn’t be easy dating an idol, but she always admired your willingness to put 100% into the relationship. Namjoon knew that Yerin wasn’t very fond of him, but they always tried to be polite with one another.
Namjoon flinched at her words. So you had shared what had happened with her. “Where is Y/n? Please, I really need to see her. Is she ok?” Namjoon asked. He looked absolutely dejected at this point. It was evident in his eyes that he was incredibly worried about you and really needed to see you.
Yerin had a whole speech planned out for when she had to see him again. She was ready to rip into him, but even she couldn’t ignore the look in his eyes. And while she really hated Namjoon at this moment, she knew that he only felt genuine love for you. What relationship didn’t have ups and downs? And who was she to judge your relationship.
“Namjoon... her dad passed. The day you left for your little joy trip, her dad passed away. His surgery didn’t go well. She asked you to stay not because she felt the need to cuddle as you so slightly put it, she needed someone to lean on when her father was sick in the hospital. And you couldn’t even let her explain before you left, so no, she’s not ok. She passed out at work earlier this week because she went through the funeral basically alone. She didn’t eat, or sleep, let alone drink water. So she’s been in the hospital all week. The doctor said she could probably come home tomorrow so I’m only here to get a change of clothes for her” Yerin explained. “I wasn’t supposed to tell you this in case I saw you, but I think you deserve to feel at least a fraction of the pain she’s felt these past two weeks” Yerin finished before heading to your room to gather your clothes.
Namjoon just stood there in shock. Your father... had passed. And he hadn’t been there for you. He wasn’t there to help you through such a painful part of your life. You sat through his funeral, absolutely alone. You hadn’t found the energy to take care of yourself which resulted you being hospitalized. What kind of a sick boyfriend makes his love go through that all alone? The one who hadn’t thought of her.
“Which hospital?” Namjoon asked slowly as Yerin emerged again with a small bag. “Please, let me come with you” Namjoon pleaded, tearing up. “Please” he basically whispered.
“Fine. I swear to god though if you make her cry again I won’t hesitate to kick you out myself” Yerin threatened.
Namjoon followed her like a lost puppy, sadness filling his entire being as he got closer and closer to the hospital. What was he even supposed to say? He knew what your relationship was like with your father. You were so happy that he was now back in your life and he remembered how you cried when you found out about his sickness. He remembers assuring you that everything would work out, that your father would recover and you’d spend more time with him
Yerin parked her car in front of the hospital, telling him your room number and that she’d be up after parking her car a few minutes later. Even she knew that you both needed a minute or two alone.
Namjoon basically ran all the way to your room, asking any nurse he could find where your room was. As soon as he reached your door, he took another deep breath, before sliding the door open.
If he thought he felt sadness before, nothing compared to the pain and sadness he felt now that he saw the sight before him now. You laid in bed on your side, resting your head on your arm. You faced had thinned, dark circles under your eyes, and there was absolutely no life in your eyes. Your eyes met his for a few seconds, acknowledging that you noticed him, before your eyes returned to the wall.
Namjoon walked in, closing the door behind him. He gulped, walking slowly to your side. “Y/n...” he started, causing you to close your eyes.
“Y/n.. I’m so sorry” He starts. His voice trembled with each word, and he was pretty sure it was only a matter of seconds before the tears spilled from his eyes. He sat down on the chair next to your bed, and he reached for your hand. The tears finally spilled when your jerked your hand back with what little energy you had left.
“I’m so fucking sorry” Namjoon tried again. He was at a loss for words. No speech he rehearsed for could fit for this.
“I-” he started again.
“Leave me alone” You say, eyes still closed. You said it so quietly he wasn’t sure you had even said it, but when when the tears cascaded down your face even with your eyes closed, he knew you had.
“I can’t do that” Namjoon said. “I’m not leaving you now. Or ever. Not like this” Namjoon said firmly.
“Go, Namjoon” You commanded again.
No”
“Don’t make me ask the nurses to get you to leave” You say, still not opening your eyes.
“I’m not leaving” Namjoon says again. No way in hell could he ever leave you like this.
Just then Yerin had came in as well. She had heard your request. “Namjoon, leave” she said firmly. “She doesn’t need this right now”
“I can’t! How- How can I? She’s not well and I- I can’t” Namjoon fumbled.
“Just GO” you said as loud as you could, causing Namjoon to flinch. You turned to your other side, signaling that this conversation was officially over and that he was no longer welcome here.
Yerin held the door open for him, urging him to leave. Namjoon plopped himself down on the chair outside your room, resting his head in his hands. How had things become this bad so fast? If he had only taken the time to listen to you that night, he could have been there for you! He could have taken care of you like deserved rather than leaving you alone when you need him the most.
Yerin stepped out of the room a few minutes later.
“Look, I have to go into court tomorrow morning to take over for Y/n’s case. I can’t take her home. So as much as it kills me to do this, I need to ask you to take her home once she’s discharged in the morning” she says, angrily. “Or I can call Jin?” she thinks out loud.
“NO. I’ll do it. I’ll do it.” Namjoon says, thankful for the opportunity. He wasn’t sure that when morning came, you’d let him take you home, but at least it was a start.
(x)
When the doctor noticed him sitting outside, Namjoon quickly explained that you were the last of her family and the doctor explained to him as simply as possible what went down the last week. You were extremely weak and had to take it easy for the next couple of weeks while you gained your strength back. No work, and you needed someone to take care of you as well. Namjoon cursed at himself internally as the doctor only confirmed how much pain you must have been in emotionally.
“People deal with loss differently, but this is an exceptionally grave way of dealing with it. Please take care of her” The doctor requested before leaving to check on other patients.
After singing all the paperwork and paying for the long hospital stay, Namjoon entered your room again. You stood by your bed now, and the shirt that used to fit you so well a few weeks ago hung loose on your shoulders. Was it possible to lose that much weight in two weeks? It looked like you had basically starved yourself.
Namjoon cringed internally.
As you placed the last of your things in the bag, you turned to face who you assumed was Yerin. You glared at Namjoon when your eyes landed on him.
“I thought I asked you to leave” you sighed, sitting back down on the bed.
“I’m taking you home” Namjoon said, ignoring your request.
“No, I think Yerin is” you say, pulling out your phone.
“No, she had to take your case to court today. I’m taking you. End of discussion” Namjoon said.
“No. I’ll take an uber or something” you mumbled, cursing at Yerin inside.
“Unfortunately, the doctor requires that a family or friend take you home and I’m the only one right now. So unless you want to stay here another day or so...” namjoon said as he walked over to grab your bag “I suggest you let me take you home” He said.
You glared at him again. While the stubborn part of you would have stayed here another night just to avoid the car ride home with him, you hated the hospital. Once the funeral was over, you had prayed to get out of there as soon as possible and yet you ended right back there a day or so later for yourself.
Namjoon led the way to his car and you got into the passenger seat, holding onto your bag tightly. You only looked out the window the entire car ride back. You didn’t say a single thing and Namjoon was too afraid to say anything.
When he parked his car outside your apartment complex, you quickly unbuckled your seatbelt and stepped out. You turned to face him for the first time “I can get inside perfectly fine” you say, implying Namjoon was not welcome inside your apartment.
“Let me take you inside, please Y/n” he pleads. He was supposed to be taking care of you, how could he do that when he wasn’t allowed in your place.
“I was stupid before. I can take care of myself without your help. You’ve taught me that once again, I can’t depend on anyone but myself. Goodbye Namjoon” you said, ending this conversation as you closed the door.
You couldn’t depend on anyone but yourself? Had he really let you believe that? He teared up again at the thought. Namjoon could only watch as you walked slowly back to your apartment. Your weakness was evident in the way you walked and he told himself that in a minute or so he’d follow just to make sure you made it inside ok. Before you walked into the building though, you had stopped and turned your head to the side. Someone had called out to you.
Namjoon follows your line of sight to see none other than Jin step out of his own car and rush over to you. Namjoon had called him the night before and explained everything to him. Jin was incredibly upset and mad that he hadn’t called sooner. He only said that he’d see you as soon as you got back home before hanging up on him.
Namjoon watched on as Jin runs up to you, and the both of you engaging in some conversation. Jin hugs you a moment later, and that was all it took for you to break down in sobs in his arms. Jin tries his best to calm you down before ushering you inside, but not before shooting Namjoon a look letting him know that he’d take care of you,
(x)
Namjoon trudged back into the dorm, with all eyes on him. “Hyung, what happened?” Jimin asked, running up to him. “Jin told us about Y/n and her father. We thought you’d be with her”
“I fucked up, Jimin. That’s what happened. I’m now the last person she wants to see. I said things to her before our trip that I didn’t even mean and now she can’t even be in the same room as me. The person she was supposed to depend on and trust? I’m no longer that person for her. And I don’t know what to do” says Namjoon before breaking down in sobs himself. Did he really just lose you?
Between worrying about your health and the fate or your relationship with him, Namjoon was absolutely terrified. Fortunately the boys didn’t have any schedules for the next few days because there was no way in hell that Namjoon could have stepped out the dorm without looking like a complete mess.
Could he call you? show up at your place again? Would you even let him inside, even if he had a key? He raked through his mind with any possibility of you letting him just talk to you but he couldn’t see it happening, and that just tore his heart apart even more.
(X)
You told yourself you’d do anything to avoid the hospital again, so you ate, even if all the food tasted like dirt. Even the cake that was in your fridge didn’t appeal to you. You drank water forcibly and tried to sleep at a normal time. Luckily, work had given you a few weeks off to recover and grieve, but part of you just needed some normaly again.
Your mind was overthinking everything. Not only had you lost your father suddenly, but you also felt like you lost Namjoon, even if it was you pushing him away this time.
You always though you had understood him and that he had appreciated you all the more because of it. So when he threw that right back in your face the one time you genuinely needed him by your side, it hurt like hell. You were also angry that you felt the need to depend on someone when your whole life taught you that that would eventually blow up in your face anyways. Your mom died when you were young and still growing. Your dad died when you finally let him in your life again. And Namjoon left when you didn’t even expect it.
You didn’t know what made you more sad- the fact that the last of your family was dead or that you felt like you were going to be alone for the rest of your life.
Jin had been over the last few days, bringing food and just sitting with you. He’d play movies or watch some tv with you while you just sat. He’d let you cry, or force feed you some food, but you were glad you weren’t alone at the moment.
One night though, he finally decided enough was enough. Even he could tell that what he wasn’t doing enough. You were missing a certain someone and it was evident, even if you’d never admit it yourself.
“Y/n, we need to talk” Jin began.
“I’ve been eating all the food you leave me, I swear” you say.
“No not about that. But good, I’m glad. I actually need to talk to you about Namjoon” and he could feel you still next to him on the couch. “You need him, sweet girl” he said slowly.
“No I don’t” you say, irritated.
“Yes you do. And more importantly, he really needs you as well. You should see him at the dorm. While you’ve been here slowly recovering, he’s going in the opposite direction. He hasn’t been sleeping well or eating” he says.
You frown when you hear that. You hadn’t wished that for him.
“He’s so incredibly sorry, Y/n. He had such a bad week when he blew up on you. Of course, that doesn’t compare to your pain in any way, but you should have seen him the entire trip. He was itching to be back in Seoul and see you. He felt so bad. He called you and texted you so many times, and you were all he could think about. I’m not saying you have to forgive him right away, but just talk hmm? You both need it” he coaxes you.
You contemplate it. Despite what you told yourself, you really did miss him. You could understand the week he had after Jin explained it to you. And despite the fear of depending on someone again, you knew you needed him.
“I’ll... I’ll call him later” You say. “ You should go home, Jin. Thank you for the last few days” you say, smiling for the first time since you got home.
“Promise?” he asks.
“I promise”
(X)
Namjoon laid in bed, just staring at the ceiling, a seemingly favorite pastime of his recently. He heard his phone ring next to him and he lazily answered it, not even bothering to see who it was.
“Hello?” he asked, slowly.
“Namjoon”  he heard, and that was all it took for him to jump right out of bed.
“Y/n” he says. “It’s you” he says, as if he had to confirm the fact out loud for it to be true. He could hear you sigh over the line.
“Do you.. do you think you can come over?” you asked after a moment.
“I’m leaving right now, love” he said, darting out of the room. Jin watches on with a small smile.
“I have a feeling he won’t be back for a few days, guys” Jin says to the other guys who watched with a confused look.
(X)
Namjoon ran all the way up to your floor, despite it being three floors up. He wasn’t really sure why you had called, perhaps it was even to end the relationship once and for all, but he didn’t care. You had asked to see him, and that’s all that mattered.
He didn’t want to just barge in on you, so he knocked on the door and a few moments later, you opened the door, staring at him with doe eyes. He breathes a sigh of relief when he sees some life in your eyes again.
“Come in” you say timidly.
He steps in and takes his shoes off, and he just stares at you. Both of you are unsure what to do, this is new territory.
“Y/n, love, I’m so so-” he starts
“Don’t. Please just... I don’t want to talk about that” you say, interrupting him.
Namjoon stares at you again. Was this going to be the end? He feels his heart drop.
He watches as you visibly swallow. “Can you just... can you please just hold me?” you say, quietly, and finally looking up at his eyes.
Namjoon eyes widen in surprise a little, but he wrapped his arms around your small frame almost instantly. He could never deny you of anything. “I missed you so much” he says into your hair before placing a small kiss on your head.
It was only then that you also returned the gesture and wrapped your hands around your boyfriend’s bigger frame. He felt you slowly cry into his shirt as it got wet from your tears.
“I love you so much baby, I’m not leaving you ever” he said, holding onto you tighter.
He lifts you into his arms before walking the both of you to your dark bedroom. He didn’t even need to turn on the light, he knew that room like the back of his hand. He placed you slowly down on the bed before getting in with you and holding you while you wrapped your legs around his.
It was such a weird feeling that took over the both of you in that instant. While the both of you were still quite sad about the previous weeks’ events, the both of you were also slowly starting to fill with happiness because of the unsaid truth that you both would be ok. You’d make it through this, despite the words exchanged. You’d both lean on each other and love each other unconditionally, despite the bumps along the way, but you’d be together nonetheless. And that was all the both of you needed as you fell asleep in each others arms.
A/n: I hope you guys liked this. I’d appreciate the feedback! Would you like to see more oneshots?

A Unique Birthday Cake
This is for @marvelinsanity . Sua, I wish you the happiest of birthday wishes! I hope you have an amazing day despite our unfortunate circumstances. Ily! Thanks for always being so inclusive and friendly!
Please send her some wishes tmrw, everyone! She is truly an amazing person!
I know your birthday is tomorrow, but I just couldn’t wait hehehe. Don’t worry, I’m gonna post your request and a lil something else tomorrow too ≧◡≦
(I swear I’m done bothering you after that lol)
Please pardon any mistakes, I’m half asleep.
This morning Wanda and Nat came bursting into your room at the ungodly hour of 7 am. To some, 7 am wasn’t early, but try having a pre-birthday dinner with the Avengers the night before and then we'll talk.
“(y/n) c’mon get up! We are going birthday shopping!”
You tiredly groaned and covered your head with Steve’s vacant pillow, in hopes of shunning the overly-peppy women away. It’s not that you didn’t appreciate their kind gesture, but birthday shopping was the last thing on your to do list, more in favor of getting some shut-eye.
“Nat, Wanda. I love you both, I do, but pleaseeee let me sleep.” Silence now filled the room and you assumed they had gotten the message.
Apparently you thought wrong.
Natasha then pried the pillow from your deathly grip while Wanda pulled back the bed covers, making you shiver, covered in nothing more than shorts and t-shirt. Steve must’ve set the thermostat to polar again.
Not all us can be fine while in the ice for seventy years, sir.
“We got teaaaa.” That’s all it took. Wanda’s tempting offer made you hop up from the bed. You passed them and made a beeline straight for the kitchen, not caring about your messy appearance.
Before you made it four steps out the door, Natasha grabbed you by the shoulders, turning you to look at her and Wanda.
“Oops, forgot to mention you have to get ready first!” Her smirk made you sick, as you scowled at her, pouting like a child on your way to the bathroom, complying to their orders.
“You two are cruel.”
Wanda and Natasha then high fived at their small victory, actually heading to the kitchen to make you tea, for real this time. By 9 am, the three of you had already made it out of the compound and to the bustling and ever famous, 5th Avenue. In all your years spent in New York, not once had you stepped foot on 5th Avenue. When you made your confession to Wanda and Natasha, you were sure they’d die right on the spot. So now, you three giddy women went to all the fancy and exquisite stores, not actually buying but just looking for your own entertainment.
You hadn’t known, but Wanda and Natasha were helping out Steve who was planning his very own surprise for your birthday.
“Guys, be serious.” Steve was now using his Captain voice, he clearly meant business.
“We’re listening, Cap.” Directly across the island counter, Bucky, Sam stood, trying to contain their laughter once more.
“How the hell do we make this cake?” Bucky just lost it at Steve’s truly innocent question. Sam quickly shot his arm out to steady the cackling man.
“Ok, whew. Step aside. Let the pros show ya.” At the confident remark from his friend, Steve stepped aside in surrender allowing the men to do their thing.
If you are wondering how Steve got here, it all started last week.
You were in the compound kitchen, helping Sam prepare a last minute dinner since it was his night to cook. The whole team had just gotten back from a long and draining mission, especially looking forward to a home-cooked meal. Unfortunately, the compound’s pantry was completely desolate, leaving Sam completely clueless as to what to do for dinner that night. Just as Sam was about to dial takeout, you and Steve strolled in. The two of you were now in a much more jovial mood after getting cleaned up and basking in the feeling of being home.
“Hey Sammy, whatcha cookin’?”
The distressed man then flung you the ragged Chinese menu and a frown made home on your face.
“Hold that thought, because there has to be something.”
When Sam didn’t get the message, you walked up to him and took the phone, ending the call.
“Why’d you do that!”
“Because we will find something to eat.”
While you and Sam had your own staring contest, Steve wandered off to the pantry, checking its contents for himself.
“Hey doll! There’s some bread in here, and a few cans of tomato soup.”
You looked away from Sam and ran to Steve.
“You're a lifesaver, babe!” Swiftly, you pecked him on the cheek, swiping the cans of soup from his arms.
“Now if we have some cheese, I’m sure we can make some grilled cheese sandwiches.” At your appeasing offer, Sam visibly brightened up.
“Sam, can you start the soup while Steve and I make the sandwiches?”
And needless to say, everything went smoothly, that is until you let Steve cook one sandwich and he burnt it to charcoal.
How that happened, you have no clue.
In the kindest way possible, you let him down gently, because he was trying his best. A sullen look crossed his face and you felt like you had just smacked a baby. Without second thought, you got on tippy toes to deeply kiss him trying to give some reassurance.
“Cooking is a tough science, don’t sweat it, darling.”
So maybe he couldn’t scramble an egg, but he sure as hell would try to learn. With your challenge still fresh in his mind, Steve thought making a birthday cake for you would be none other than the best time to show off his baking skills. That man was never one to cower down from a challenge.
Now here he was, staring at the cake recipe as if he were trying to escape Alcatraz. One word came to Steve’s mind when he thought about either. Impossible.
“You good, buddy?” Bucky looked over to Steve whose eyes were locked onto the piece of paper, clenched tightly in his hand.
“It can’t be that hard right?”
Sam and Bucky just looked at each other shrugging.
“For gosh sakes, you can fight Hydra, but the big scary cake monster is deathly terrifying?”
In mock horror, Sam brought his hands to his face, mimicking a shocked look. Steve just rolled his eyes and playfully slapped Sam on the shoulder.
“Let’s just get this over with.”
That was three hours ago.
In such a short time the men managed to make a complete mess. When Bucky said pros, Steve really should’ve known better.
The kitchen was completely dusted in the white, snow-like, flour. Sugar nestled within the powder while vanilla extract absentmindedly flowed off the counter and to the floor. Up against the oven, Sam slumped over and across from him at the sink, Bucky was trying to wash cake batter out of his hair. Steve just looked in utter shock at the scene, it looked like a war zone, and he’s seen plenty of those.
Oh and the cake…
Can it even classify as a cake?
Because from where Steve was standing, it looked like pizza dough. The whole way through Sam kept reprimanding that it’d look better in the end, decorated in frosting, but my god there was no saving this… creature.
“So about what I said earlier,” Steve looked over to see Sam staring at the ground, obviously contemplating his life choices, “I’d like to revoke my statement.”
Hell, they’d gotten this far.
Steve walked over to the frosting, which, thank the heavens, was store bought. Completely traumatized and absorbed in the whole situation, he just lathered on all the frosting. With a gel icing, he carefully penned out your name and ‘Happy Birthday’.
Really the only thing going for that “cake” was his neat penmanship.
So maybe you were right.
Unfortunately it was too late to order a real cake. Steve would just have to face the consequences and cross his fingers that you wouldn’t break up with him.
By time Wanda and Natasha had ushered you home, it was 4 pm. Today you were just so caught up in all the fun that you completely forgot about Steve which made you feel terrible. Knowing Steve, he went all out for your birthday, you just hoped you hadn’t ruined it.
As you walked into the compound, everything seemed perfectly normal, which quite frankly kind of disappointed you, until you rounded the corner to the kitchen. The lights were off, but soon came on when Sam, Bucky and Steve popped up around the table, presenting a... dough ball????
You got closer and realized it was a cake. Or was supposed to be.
“Please don't break up with me, doll.” Steve nervously bit his lip and you reached up to stop him, then full on laughing, grabbing his broad shoulders for support.
“Oh Stevie! Don’t be so dramatic. I’m actually really looking forward to what happened.”
Steve then pulled out your chair as everyone else settled around the table, where the dough baby idly was set upon.
The three men told of their tale while you ladies laughed over ice cream, a quick solution thanks to Wanda.
Sam and Bucky continued to tell their more animated version of the story, while Steve leaned close to you, wrapping his muscular arm around your waist with lips pressed to your temple.
“Happy Birthday, Sweetheart.”

Nov 1st, Sunday 18:35
„We should definitely meet up tuesday. Maybe Sander can take some shots of us for youtube.“ Robbe suggested exited, halfway into his coat as they stood gathered in the tiny hallway at the entrance ready to leave. His mother would be back at 8:30 and Jens needed to still clean up the mess they left. Dirty plates and cups and glasses strewn around the living room, they all had spent the whole afternoon in.
„Can I come too?“
„If you can convince mom or me to ditch piano class...“ Jens reminded his little sister, who currently stood next to Sander and Milan waiting on Robbe to be done. She looked at him through big eyes. Must have forgotten about it then, he figured, even though it was a weekly thing.
Jens opened the door, Sander and Robbe hugging his little sister tightly, promising to be back soon again. She laughed at something Sander whispered into her ear, making Jens very suspicious as to what this was about, but then he went on to take Robbe’s hand stepping outside.
„Eh, is Lucas not coming as well, he probably needs to get the bus too, right?“ Milan asked throwing a searching look over Jens, to see if he could spot the dutch boy still inside.
„He is getting his jeans, I think.“ Jens said unsure, as Lucas seemed to take his damn time at it. Milan in response only nodded unquestioning the odd reason provided, before he continued: „Well, we’ll go then. The bus should leave in six minutes and Zoë is waiting with dinner. I hope that’s cool with Lucas? Tell him sorry, okay?“
„Will do.“ Jens promised with a wave to send them off as they crossed the little front yard and vanished out of sight down the street. Turning around he found his sister running off towards the stairs, where Lucas came down to join her at it’s foot.
„You just missed them, if you run you can probably catch up.“ She explained pointing towards the door. Lucas instead smiled at her shaking his head.
„I’ll take the next one in 20 minutes. I really don’t want to run.“ He explained, glancing over to Jens as if he wanted to communicate more to him, than what he had said out loud. Jens didn’t get it really though. Was he missing something important?
The six of them had had a long breakfast and afterwards all of them had moved towards the sofa. Jens and Lucas taking the floor instead, sitting close together. Close enough that they could exchange the occasional touch of knees, or shoulders, or hands, or anything really. Ít didn’t quite matter in the end. They all joked and talked and watched cartoons, some skating videos on youtube thrown into the mix. Lotte and Sander had started drawing at one point, after him and Robbe had cuddled for hours it seemed. Keeping it child friendly though. Lucky for them, because Jens would have killed them, if they hadn’t. Not that he did assume they would forget about Lotte being around, but then it was Sander and Robbe.
„I’m gonna take the drawings to my room.“ Lotte announced loudly storming off to collect said papers from the living room floor, before she hurried up the stairs. Lucas meanwhile had went over towards the kitchen, opening up the dish washer.
„And what are you doing?“ Jens asked raising his brows amused as he leaned against the kitchen table, on top of it all the carved pumpkins staring at him. They had done a great job yesterday Jens thought.
„Eh. I don’t think it’s fair to leave you on your own to clean up. I’m really good at it. See!“
„I can indeed see that.“ Jens snorted, as Lucas proceeded to slowly but deliberatly put one plate after the other on the dish rack, looking up at Jens each time he did so.
„Alright, I guess you proved to be useful to have around. I concede and instead go and collect the stuff from the living room.“ Hands up to signal his defeat he walked backwards, watching Lucas grin at him.
There it was again, the feeling of wanting to kiss the boy in front of him, so before it could grow further, Jens turned away, to keep his word and get everything to the kitchen.
They definitely forgot about Lucas having to catch the bus, so instead of the next one, it was decided to take the one after. The dishwasher nonetheless had been filled and turned on, all pillows collected and taken back to were they had come from. Lucas even had helped Jens with the matrasses in his room.
And thus they now found themselves standing akward in the hallway of the entrance. Lucas already dressed in shoes and jacket, looking at Jens nervously.
They still had three minutes left.
„Uhm, thank you again for the invitation.“ Lucas said smilingly brushing through his hair with one hand. „Also wanted to let you know that I’ll be visiting my friends in Utrecht next weekend. I’m leaving on friday already. Somehow thought you should know that.“
Jens appreciated that greatly, if it wasn’t for the fact that it meant they couldn’t meet up next weekend. Not that they had anything planned or talked about. He just had assumed Lucas would be here for his upcoming birthday. This reminded him.
„Fuck, unlucky timing, I guess. I’m turning eighteen on friday. So I guess I won’t be able to invite you for the little gathering at the flatshare.“
Lucas whole happy face fell at Jens’s words, almost in disbelief.
„You serious?“
„Yup.“ Jens said, popping the ‘p’ as he scratched his neck and tried for a reassuring smile. „Honestly, it’s cool. With everything going on, it is just the broerrrs and the guys from the flatshare. Nothing fancy, so it is not like you are missing out on a big celebration.“
„Still, I hate that I can’t be there.“ Lucas seemed to want to say something else, but reconsidered instead, pulling out his phone to check the time.
„You should go or you’ll miss this bus as well.“ Jens broke the silence, taking a step forward to open the door for Lucas as he had done before for the others.
Lucas nodded not quite leaving yet. Rather he took hold of Jens’s hand again, like he had this morning, looking at him all earnest with his smile back on his lips.
„We’ll celebrate once I’m back. Promise. Just the two of us. If you’d want that of course.“ If they wouldn’t stand as close as they did, Jens may have not been able to understand the whispered words at him. And god was he glad he did, because it send a happieness through his body, he hadn’t feld in ages.
„I’d really like that.“
„Great. See you tomorrow, then.“ Lucas said, letting go of Jens to catch his bus in time. He definitely had to hurry by now, so Jens didn’t hold him back, even though he wanted too. He really, really wanted to. But his mother was already on her way back home from her friend’s place, so this was probably for the best.
Only when he couldn’t see the boy jog down the street any longer did he close the door. It was then that he realised that they sort of had a date the week after his birthday. Or maybe not.
No, he was pretty sure they agreed on a date.
It took him five minutes from his realisation to him actually moving again to get dinner ready.
A date.
With Lucas.
He was fucked.

A Leap Of Faith - Pansmione
Summary: Hermione is a workaholic that lives with her cat alone, Pansy is a fashion stylist who has been travelling around the world for seven yeats, now she has come back, but just because Blaise and Ron are opening a restaurant together, Harry and Draco are wearing kimonos, and Ginny suffers from a terrible curse, and all Hermione has to do now is to take that leap of faith
Word count: 4469
Read here on ao3

“Hermione!” Ron exclaimed and Hermione finally looked up at him, and apparently Harry was also there too. Were they here the whole time?
“Er, when did you guys come here?” She asked and they groaned at her
“Mione, we’ve been standing here for five minutes, you didn’t even realise we came in” Harry sighed deeply
“We literally talked to each other and you didn’t hear us”
“Oops?” She grinned and pushed her hair back behind her ears “Sorry, I was in my bubble of thoughts, it’s just…a lot”
 “Yeah! We know” Harry nodded
“Anyway, will you be free tonight?”
“For what?” She asked “Is it your birthday?”
“No!” Ron almost shrieked “Hermione! You have been so swamped in work, I know you became the Minister for Magic but this is too much. You haven’t seen us in four days because you were all cooped up in your office, we literally had to track you down. You missed your dinner with me and my husband yesterday. Blaise was not pleased. He made you your favourite pasta, and he forced me to wait until you arrive, which you never did”
“Oh my god I’m so sorry” she gasped and immediately got up to grab his hand and apologised “Okay, I’m sorry, there was a meeting late yesterday and I totally forgot. I promise I’ll come next time”
“Hermione, you have dark circles around your eyes and you look like you haven’t taken a shower in years” Harry intervened “Maybe you should go home and change your clothes. We’ve been neglecting you since we settled down, I have to admit, I spent a lot of time with Draco and the same thing goes with Ron and Blaise, so we’re sorry too”
“No no! It’s me” Hermione said “I…I work too much and forgot about my friends, my fault”
“Okay let’s stop blaming each other” Ron interrupted them “Hermione, you should come with us tomorrow”
 “Where?”
“Blaise’s restaurant” Ron smiled brightly “He’s gonna open it tomorrow, it’s amazing”
“Oh, the…er…” Hermione paused and gave them a lopsided smile, secretly explained that she has no clue what the restaurant was about “Pizza place?”
“Hermione!” Ron’s face started to get red and Hermione flinched, she could not believe she forgot about this. It has been so much to work here that she forgot everything, now her friends were practically having an intervention for her. It was her fault, she admitted it in her head, being the Minister for Magic was hard, and new, it was exciting, but tiring at the same time, she didn’t remember the last time she went home and feed her cat. Did they get feed? Did she ask her friends to feed her cat? Did she even go home?
“Hermione!” Both Harry and Ron said, the brunette’s train of thoughts were cut off and she grinned
 “Sorry! Sorry! I got distracted”
“You just literally zoned out while I was telling you about the restaurant, again!” Ron sighed “Tomorrow he’s opening it, and he wants you to go, he wants us to go”
 “Okay, when?”
“Whenever you’re free, but I suspect you’ll get busy again and forgot, so I’ll ask Ginny and Luna to pick you up, Harry and Draco will already be there tomorrow for the whole day…you know, to show it off, they’re basically just there to attract people in, a marketing method, I think it’ll work”
“Er…what…does he…the restaurant…I mean” She asked, just to be sure, she still thought it was pizza
“Come tomorrow and you’ll see” Ron grabbed her shoulders and nodded “Now we are going to escort you home, and make sure you eat and all”
“Oh but…I still have another file t—…”
“Nope” Harry shook his head “No file. Let’s go” He grabbed her arm and walked her out with Ron. Well, it was needed anyway, it was lucky she has good friends, she could really count on them.
    *
“Are we there yet?” Hermione said as Ginny and Luna led her to the destination “I don’t really see the reason for the blindfold though”
“Oh shush, Ron said it’s because you don’t know what the restaurant is selling, so…we blindfolded you” Ginny replied
“Plus, it’s cute, you have a bunny blindfold on” Luna added and Hermione sighed. When they stopped, Hermione stopped walking as well, then the blindfold was taken off of her, her mouth fell open slightly, it was a freaking Ramen Restaurant, there was a big bowl of Ramen on the front with chopsticks and all, and it was called…Hitomebore…what did that even mean?
“It means ‘Love at first sight’” Luna said suddenly and Hermione turned to her
 “Oh…why?”
“Go in and see. Come on” Ginny said and grabbed her wife to go in first. Hermione stood there for a few seconds to look at the big sign in front of the restaurant before going in. It was…Japan-ish inside, it wasn’t a word, she knew, but her brain was too tired to think of anything right now. She has three meetings today and her assistant kept sending more files in for her to work, and then one of them went missing and then it was all just a mess, she even brought one file with her here and maybe she could finish them right in the restaurant. Then she snapped back to reality when she saw Harry and Draco’s clothes, she then approached them with a big grin on her face
“Guys…are you wearing Kimonos?” Harry and Draco saw her and smiled
“Yes, it’s traditional clothes in Japan…Ron suggested it…” Draco said and looked down at his black floral kimono, his blonde hair was let down and fell to his chest, it was also braided and Hermione suspected that Luna did it, she has good hands “And to be honest, I look good in it”
“Yeah you do” She smiled and looked at Harry’s red kimono “You look amazing too, Harry”
“Thanks, it took Draco an hour to put it on me, I hated it at first, too many layers” Harry said and Draco elbowed him “But…for Ron and Blaise, we have to do it”
“Plus, this place is so crowded, we just stood there for fifteen minutes and people are already lining up out there, you’re our friends so you get to go in first” Draco said
“Come on, go, have a look around” Harry turned Hermione around and now she realised the restaurant was very…unique. There were lots of private wooden dining booths, with each booth separated by panels, and opposite to each other. She has read about this somewhere, she was sure of that. It looked like it’s the place for people who like to eat alone
“It’s a place for people who like to eat alone” Ron came by and replied, he wrapped his arm over her shoulder and smiled “Isn’t it great? My husband did all of this! Unbelievable, I just love him so much”
“Whe-where did you get this idea?” She asked, her eyes kept looking around, the decor, the seats, the booths, everything was perfect
“Oh, we had our honeymoon in Japan, then we came to love the country, and that’s where Blaise got the idea, restaurant for introverts. I mean, there are a few restaurants like that in Japan, but now, it’s here too, in the Wizarding World, wonderful right?”
“Yeah, absolutely” She smiled “So…when do we start?”
“Oh, right about now” Ron whistled and Ginny nodded at him, opening the door, a bunch of people came in and in a minute, the place became crowded. Ron had quickly pushed Hermione into a booth before it was all taken, then he proceeded to show her what to choose, where the menu was and then he just disappeared. Hermione sat in the booth, feeling excited for herself, this was so cool and she was glad that she could be a part of it, her friends were talented as always.
    *
     15 minutes later
“So, how is it?” Blaise put his hands on Hermione’s shoulders and asked, she turned around with her mouthful of ramen and smiled at him, she nodded cheerfully and he laughed “I assume it’s amazing?” She nodded again, it was brilliant, the noodles, the broth, the toppings, everything was perfect, she has never eaten anything so good, but she knew Blaise was a good chef, he was talented at it “Well, I’ll let you eat, there’s a special part that will happen in about five or ten minutes” He finished and walked back into the kitchen. She turned back and tried to eat her noodles as fast as possible, if she was quick enough, maybe she would have time to finish doing her file, her friends were all out of sight now and maybe it could work, it only needed a few more touches and it could be over with, she could only hope.
    *
     10 minutes later
“Okay so…this needs…” She mumbled to herself as she was writing for the file she mentioned earlier, she finished eating her ramen about five minutes ago and now all she needed was a few more minutes before her friends went back to check on her, she scribbled as fast as possible
“Ladies and gentlemen” Ron said loudly and Hermione stopped writing, she looked to the side and saw Ron smiling at everyone “Now…come the special part”
“The reason we put the panels down between you guys are for privacy, of course. But that’s the fun part, right about now, you’ll notice there’s a small red button on your booth, and if you push it, the panel that separates you and the person in front of you, will open, it will feel like opening a curtain” Ron chimed “My husband and I…we met when we were having dinner alone, separately in a restaurant, we sat back to back to each other, we didn’t know it, of course, not until I criticised the restaurant’s salmon and Blaise here…decided to say…” He looked at Blaise and smiled
“I would never expect a person like you to appreciate good food anyway, Weasley” Blaise finished the sentence and Ron blushed, intertwining their hands. She had heard the story before, it was amazing, everyone in the restaurant were touched as well
“And turned out, he had the same salmon as me, then…a relationship bloomed, who could have thought it would happen like that?” Ron laughed out loud and continued “And because of that, we decided that…maybe we could do something like that as well, matchmake a bit, so enjoy your meal, everyone, I hope you’ll have a great time here in Hitomebore, Love at first sight” Ron ended his speech and everyone went back to eating, Hermione heard a few gasps and laughs, she suspected that people have started opening the dividers, but she couldn’t care less, she has a file to finish and she was going to do it, just a few more minut-
“Granger!” Someone said and Hermione jolted from her work, she got startled and threw her quill away, then she looked back at…at…
“Pa…Parkinson?” She gasped and the girl in front of her smiled
“In the flesh” The formal Slytherin said and smiled, her red lipstick really popped out, her wavy black hair fell down to her shoulders and her hoops earrings really went well with her outfit, it just hugged her body perfectl—
“Woah Granger, is it me or are you secretly undressing me?” Parkinson smiled slyly and Hermione’s eyes widened
“What? No! I did no such thing…I…” She stuttered and Parkinson laughed at her. Hermione then pulled the panel down, it was like a curtain after all, but then Parkinson pulled it up again, Hermione sighed
“It’s still fun making you all flushed like this” Parkinson said “So… I see you’re still choosing work over being relaxed” She smiled, looking down at Hermione’s opened file, the brunette immediately closed it and blushed
“No…it’s just something I need to finish…” Then she pulled the panel down again.
“I thought you’d be more fun when I came back Granger” Parkinson pulled the panel up once again, she sighed and rolled her eyes, then she extended her hands over, looking like she was asking for a handshake
“Er…” Hermione said hesitantly “What is it?”
“What does it look like Granger? A handshake” Parkinson said “Ron said he’s matchmaking us, so come on, we have to get to know each other first”
“I…” What would she do? Was Parkinson asking her for a second chance? Should she take it? Should she even be considering this option? I mean she was 25 and alone, she was still youn—…oh, she was 25 now, and alone, with her cat. Maybe Ron did this on purpose, maybe he put her on this booth on purpose, maybe—
“Ugh oh my god Granger I could practically hear you thinking, it’s a handshake, take it” She said and Hermione hesitated for two seconds before actually taking it, they shook hands and Parkinson began
“Hi, I’m Pansy, and you are?”
“I…Hermione” She replied. Was she even real? Was she literally just implied that Hermione should all forgot about their history in Hogwarts, which didn’t have anything anyway. But was she asking to have a new start now? I mean yeah she could, but would Hermione want to? All of their friends have ended up with the most unexpected person Hermione could ever guess. Harry and Draco had become…something after Hogwarts, they lived in the Grimmauld Place together after graduation because both was fighting for the rights to live in it, and bam…nine months later Ginny came by and walked in on them doing it, it was traumatising, she had said, and they have been together since. Blaise and Ron, well they already told her before, they met again about four years after Hogwarts at the restaurant, she wasn’t sure how their relationship continued, but Hermione could definitely remember that Ron ranted to her a lot that he went to restaurants with Blaise multiple times so they could decide who has the best taste in food, turned out, they had better taste in choosing partners, because 3 months after that Ginny also walked in on them doing it in the kitchen of the Burrow when everyone was out of the house, Blaise and Ron had to bribe her with lots of presents so she wouldn’t tell Molly. Neville and Theodore made a surprisingly amazing couple, they had been together since Eighth Year, Neville said Theodore was put in detentions for cursing another student, later he had explained it wasn’t Theo’s fault, it was some young students hitting him with hexes and after, framed him for it, and the Professors actually believed them, it was unfair, Hermione thought so, then he had been put in detentions, to clean the Green House everyday. And that was where they met, Neville was always found in the Green House anyway, after about three detentions, Theo finally talked with Neville, and something sparked between them, it never stopped, they have been married for six years now, ah yes and Ginny also walked in on them doing it in Neville’s dorm when everyone was out, maybe it was a curse, that Ginny would walk in every couple if they hid their relationships, even with Dean and Seamus, Ginny had told her
“You know, Hermione, watching your brain process is really cool” Pansy said, breaking Hermione’s thoughts again “You just zoned out and you chew on your lips a lot, your eyes also twinkle, it’s cute”
Did she—Pansy Parkinson, just complimented Hermione? Did she just said she looked cute? Was it real? Did she mishear it? Did her brain make that up?
“Other people would think you look constipated though” Pansy said and laughed, Hermione just rolled her eyes, there you go, typical Pansy Parkinson, always there with her sarcastic comments.
“But I didn’t lie, you know, it’s cute” She said again, and this time, Hermione blushed hard
“Aww and now you’re blushing” Pansy reached over and pinched her cheeks “Adorable” Hermione’s mouth fell open at Pansy’s sudden action. Never in her life, in the 25 years she has been living, have anyone pinched her cheeks, no one, and now…Pansy…did it. Unbelievable
“What have you been doing? You know, after Hogwarts?” Pansy asked
 “Oh I just…work…”
“And then became the Minister for Magic?” Pansy smiled “Typical Hermione, I wouldn’t expect another occupation for you anyway, you’re best at this”
“Er, so…how about you?” Hermione asked
“Nothing much, I’ve been travelling around the world, became a model, got into fashion, that stuff”
 “Model?”
“Yeah, turned out the Muggles love me” Pansy laughed “It was hard at first, pretending you’re a Muggle, but then I asked Harry about it, he taught me everything I needed to know, then I just flew away, now I’m back and as a fashion stylist”
 “Really?”
“Yeah, oh do you need one?” Pansy said, looking up and down Hermione’s clothes, which made Hermione looked down at her own clothes too, just a basic blouse and black jeans, it was okay…right?
 “I…don’t know”
“Oh come on, Hermione, we’re here for a reason, I wasn’t going to show up, but Draco insisted, saying it was incredibly important”
“Really?” She asked and a pair of hands were there on her shoulders, Hermione jolted
“Having fun?” Ginny beamed at the both of them
 “Extremely” Pansy answered
“Thought so. So, have Hermione mention about the time she has a crush on you?”
“What?” Hermione exclaimed and turned back to look at Pansy, who now has an amuse look on her face “I-…I did not”
“Oh pish posh” Ginny laughed “You wrote it in your diary”
 “You read my diary?”
“Well, no” Ginny said “It was open when I came in, I was looking for you, then I saw it and…well it has the word Pansy on it, and I was making friends with her at the time, so I kept it as a secret, of course, but well…Ron knows, and Harry…and Draco, Blaise too, well because of Ron, and of course my wife, Luna, and also Theo and Neville”
“So everyone knew except for me?” Hermione shrieked “This is unbelievable”
“Hermione, don’t freak out, we are worried about you”
 “We?”
“We as in your friends, you aways work, you have a cat, you barely sleep, you need someone to take care of you” Ginny arched her eyebrow at her in concern
 “So you just…bring Pansy home?”
“Well, yeah, I mean she knew you like her”
“What?” Hermione looked at Pansy, the girl just smiled and winked at her
“It’s not like the feeling is unrequited, Hermione”
“Still! This is unbelievable” she threw her hands up in the air, stood up and started having a fit at Ginny, because she had to “Preposterous! How could you guys do that? Invaded my privacy! Kept it from me since Eight Year? And now you asked Pansy to co—wait…” Hermione stopped throwing her hands around and turned to the Slytherin behind her “You said what?”
“She said it’s not like the feeling is unrequited, Hermione” Ginny whispered behind her ears and Hermione turned around to smack her arm
“Get out” She ordered and Ginny nodded before running away, then she sat down on her seat again, when she has finally calmed down, she looked into Pansy’s blue eyes before asking
 “Did you…just confess to me?”
“I don’t know, depends on what you’ll say, actually” Pansy shrugged “To be quite honest, I left because I felt lost, I felt like I had no goal in life, we were roommates in Eighth Year, you knew that, and you had your future all planned out, and I just had…nothing, so I wanted to change, I changed because of you, that’s actually true. You showed me that I could be in a better place, I could be a better person. That night in the Astronomy Tower, I had regretted that I never kissed you, I really did, and if I had the chance to go back to that night, I would kiss you, then maybe things would have turned out different. And at this point, I think my water is drugged with Veritaserum” Pansy laughed and looked down “I never said it was unrequited, Hermione, you just assumed so, I wrote you a letter once one month after graduation, you never replied back, so I thought…”
“What letter?” She asked “Oh no…” She said in realisation, that night, oh no, she got drunk with the guys, well because Neville got offered to be the new Herbology Professor and they all celebrated it, the drinks just kept coming and she might have come home wasted and might have set the letter on fire, she had never read it, she even burned all her letters that week and smashed a vase, which she immediately regretted the day after “I…never read it…I kinda burned it” She mumbled and Pansy snorted
“You like burning stuff a lot, Hermione, remember that time you set Snape on fire? Even I enjoyed the scene” Pansy laughed and Hermione smiled with her. Then it was quiet again. Hermione couldn’t figure out what to say. She remembered, she remembered everything. They had been roommates, yes, there had been a weird tension between them after a few months together, Hermione had helped Pansy studied because Professor McGonagall thought she could improve, so of course Hermione was happy to help…well not really happy at first, but they finally became somewhat friends after lots of study dates, Ron and Hermione’s relationship never went far, it was only a few months before she realised they were better as friends, Pansy was there on the night they broke up, and Pansy was there for Hermione to cry with, she was an unexpected friend. The night before graduation, Pansy and Hermione had sneak out and went up to the Astronomy Tower to watch the stars, they talked a lot, about their past, their future, and in the end, Pansy had looked at her in the eyes, she pushed Hermione’s hair back behind her ears, Hermione almost had a heart attack that moment, she thought they were going to kiss, but then Pansy just got up and got back to the dorm, leaving Hermione there dumbfounded. After graduation, Pansy just…disappeared. Hermione had missed her a lot.
“I bailed…because I was scared, I was scared to face with my feelings, I had never had such deep feelings for anyone before, you were my first, and I was scared, I ran, I regretted it a lot, and I don’t expect you to forgive me, I just…” Pansy stopped and sighed “It’s no use right, it’s too late, you hate me because I bailed, I ruined it, typical” Pansy started rambling and Hermione just closed the panel that separated them. Then she stood up, walked around the long booths filled with people to go to the other side, when Pansy saw her, she walked faster, based on the look on Pansy’s face, maybe she knew what Hermione was going to do, maybe she didn’t. But fuck it, it was a leap of faith, and Hermione was going to take it, she grabbed Pansy’s face and kissed her once she got to Pansy’s booth, she could finally taste Pansy for the first time ever, and she tasted like…ramen, well, it was obvious, but she could also feel Pansy’s hands on her hips, Pansy’s tongue in her mouth, Pansy smelled like lavender, Hermione loved it, she sucked on her bottom lip and slid her hands in Pansy’s hair, it felt wonderful, her hair was smooth, unlike Hermione’s, then Pansy also stood up and pushed Hermione back against the table, kissing her harder, Hermione almost let out a moan when—
“Seriously” Ron interrupted and both of the girls stopped the kiss “I put you two in today so you could you know…become a couple, slowly and gradually, it’s been half an hour and you’re already snogging? Take it out of here, come on girls” Ron rolled his eyes and walked away, Hermione could see Harry and Draco standing next to the kitchen’s door, giving them bright smiles and thumbs up, supporting them, she blushed and looked back at Pansy, who was smiling at her, Hermione began
“I…don’t regret the night at the Tower, everything happened for a reason, I believe so, and maybe this is faith, so it’s alright, what if we didn’t kiss 7 years ago anyway? We still get to do it now” She said and she has never felt so brave before
“You know what? You’re right. I mean I suspect 7 years ago you didn’t even know how to kiss properly” Pansy said and laughed when Hermione pushed her away lightly
 “Shut up”
“You want me to shut up?” Pansy leaned closer and winked, the brunette blushed
“N-no…I mean yes, no! Ron said no” She protested and Pansy grabbed her wrist
“Let’s go to another place then” Pansy walked her out of the restaurant and said “Oh hey, what about reminiscing our memory on the Astronomy Tower?”
“What? W-we are not allowed to go there” Hermione exclaimed
“Come on, I know how to Floo in Neville’s office from my house, then we can sneak out, like the old days, it’ll be fun, Hermione, come with me” Pansy pouted and kissed her cheek, which automatically made Hermione blushed like a tomato. Maybe she could do it, so what if she had a million files to finish tonight, her friends said she needed a break, she would get a break, even if it meant that she would break in Hogwarts to do dirty stuff with Pansy, she could do it, no biggie, right? All her friends did it anyway. Ron and Blaise taking a leap of faith to open the restaurant together. Harry and Draco taking a leap of faith to be with each other no matter what the entire world would say. Theo and Neville taking a leap of faith knowing they didn’t have many things in common. Ginny and Luna taking a leap of faith to change their friendship into love. And now, Hermione was finally taking a leap of faith into Pansy, and perhaps it would be alright, she believed so, and Hermione was never wrong, she never was.
“Okay, like the old days” She smiled and looked down at their intertwined hands, Pansy squealed and kissed her again, then they disappeared with a loud pop.
  The End.

She's gone. (Part 2 of Were You Going to Tell Me?)
A/n: here is part 2, it went in a slightly different direction than I originally intended, but I think I like it.
Summary: Shawn isn't coping well with y/n being gone. (Told in both POVs)
Word count: still a lot
Warning: angst with a fluff ending oops
***
She left and I'm well beyond sad. I feel empty. If there's a way to feel something worse than that, then that's what I feel. It's like my heart has been ripped from my chest and it's infinitely harder to breathe through that aching pain.
I stayed in bed, crying like a baby, clutching her pillow like it was her. Morning came and my throat was raw from screaming into the sheets while hiccupped sobs wracked my body. I didn't bother to answer my phone that hasn't stopped ringing since seven. I couldn't even get out of bed to brush my teeth. Amy little thing that I did felt impossible. How could I go on living without her? She made everything in my life worth living. It was fun and organized with her in it, and I took her for granted. I made her move across the continent just to be with me and I couldn't even spare her a passing glance, a quick kiss before leaving for the studio.
I'm the worst boyfriend ever. How she put up with me for seven years is beyond me. I would have dropped my ass the first time I forgot our anniversary. And her birthday! God I forgot her birthday! But she didn't break up with me and I did it again. I'm the worst. The absolute worst.
“Shawn, are you in here?”
I now regret giving Andrew a spare key to my place. I stifled my sobs into her pillow, it smelled like her, this was torture. He barged into our room - fuck, I didn't even know if it was still our room.
“Shawn, what the hell? You were supposed to be in the studio two hours - wait, what's going on? Why aren't you dressed?"
“She's gone, Andrew. I lost her.” I choked on the words and buried my head further into her side of the bed.
“What are you talking about?”
“Y/n left.” The cried that escaped my throat were embarrassing and loud.
“Like she left? Why on earth would she leave?”
“Because I suck. I'm a horrible boyfriend. I was more focused on the album than I was spending time with her.” I sniffled, “I royally fucked up; I don't even know what to do. I can't go on without her.”
Andrew sighed, “Shawn, I know it feels like the end of the world right now, but-”
“I'm not going in, Andrew! I might have just lost my girlfriend of seven years, the love of my life, the reason for my existence! Fuck the studio! I don't have my girl here, so I can't make music!”
“You're being unreasonable.” He started typing on his phone. “Get up. Get dressed. You have to be there. People are waiting.”
“Well then tell them to stop waiting because I'm not going.”
“How long are you gonna do this?” He punched the bridge of his nose.
“Until she's back in my arms.”
Ten minutes later, after Andrew had finally left and stopped yelling at me, my door opened again. I really need to stop giving my friends a key. “Shawny boy, are you here?”
I didn't answer. They'd find me eventually.
“What are doing here?” Brian came into the room and sat on the edge of the bed.
“She left.”
“Not for good. She couldn't.”
“She told me she wasn't happy anymore. That I wasn't making her happy.”
“You've been busy,” he sympathized, “she'll cool down.”
“She's in y/h/t, Brian. It's not like she's just roaming around the city and she'll come back when she gets bored.”
“Shawn, y/n loves you. The entire world knows that. Just like they know you love her. She'll come back.”
“And what if she doesn't?”
He didn't answer because he knew there was a chance she wouldn't.
“I've fucked everything up. I don't know what to do.”
“What's your heart telling you to do?”
I sighed and sat up, pulling my knees to my chest. “My heart is telling me that I should have proposed to her a long time ago.”
“What?”
I got out of bed and walked on foreign legs to our closet. I had hidden a velvet box in a pair of my shoes on the top shelf. Where I knew she couldn't reach. I tossed it at him and he fumbled to catch it. “I bought it for her right after she moved in. But I was scared that she'd think it was too much at one time if I asked her then. But then everything else started piling up and I couldn't find an opening, and then I guess I just forgot.”
“Does she know you were planning on proposing? Because if she did, I don't think she would have run away.”
“Well we've talked about it. But I guess within the past year, we haven't done much talking. It seems like we're always in a screaming match.”
“You need to do this,” he stood from the bed, closing the box in his hand before tossing it back to me. “Get on a plane and go find her.”
“She doesn't want to see me.”
“Shawn, I'm scared that if you don't go to her now she really isn't coming back. Because you're right, you've fucked up. A lot. I don't know how many times I've comforted her after you guys fight.”
“Wait, what?”
Brian sighed, “She's come to me a few times.”
“Why didn't I know that?”
“Because you haven't been paying attention. But you're paying attention now, so go. Get your girl back before it's too late.”
“I will, but we need to talk about the fact that you knew how she was feeling and you didn't tell me.”
“They weren't my feelings to share! She trusts me, and I can't break that trust. She's a hard person to get in good with and I don't want go be on her bad side. Because from what you look like right now, it's not looking too hot.”
I scoffed and started packing some clothes. I didn't know how long I would be gone, so I just threw some shit in a bag and booked my ticket. “She's my girlfriend, He is .  And you're my best friend, don't you think you have some sort of obligation to tell me when my girlfriend things we don't work?"
“Don't you think you have an obligation as her boyfriend to make sure she's happy? Look, I love you to death, man, but you've been pulling away from her for so long I'm surprised she's stayed as long as she has.”
“You're a dick.”
“No, Shawn.” he shook his head. “I'm just telling you the truth. And I'm not the only one who's noticed. The guys see it too. The band. Everyone except you.”
“And no one's told me a goddamn thing,” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“Because we knew you'd react this way. But let me tell you this: that girl has loved you despite all the hell you've put her through. She moved here away from all she's ever known for you, and you're rarely ever here. She put her dreams on hold so you could continue following yours. Do you think she likes what she does? No, but she does it because that's what keeps her close to you. You've taken her for granted and she doesn't deserve that.”
I sighed, “You're right,” I said defeated. “She doesn't, and I know that after everything I've done I don't deserve her. I know. But I love her more than anything.”
“Don't tell me that. Tell her.”
My palms were sweaty as I stood in front of her childhood home. Her dad's truck was in the driveway, y/n's wasn't. I knocked on the door and waited. Her dad stood before me. “Can we talk?” I asked, my hands in my pockets.
He nodded and motioned for me to come inside. “Sit down,” he pointed to the couch nearest to the kitchen. He sat opposite of me.
I took in a deep breath and rubbed my palms on my jeans. “Has she said anything to you?”
He shook his head, “Not to me. Her sister, probably.”
I cleared my throat, “Well, I'm going to apologize anyway. Things haven't been going great for us for quite some time now and that's completely on me. I've taken her for granted and that was never my intention. I love her and I never meant to hurt her, you need to know that.”
“I do, Shawn.”
“I'm in love with her, sir. I have been for seven years, and I will be for the rest of my life. I hadn't known pure heartache until she left the other day. I couldn't even get out of bed, and none of this is your problem, but I just want you to know that I love her and I never want to see her hurt like this again. I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to her. So… May I have your blessing to ask her go marry me?”
He was silent for a while and then he chuckled. “I'll give you my blessing, Shawn. You've taken good care of her, whether you think you have or not. But ultimately the decision is hers.”
“Yes, sir.” I nodded. “Thank you,” I stood and shook his hand; he brought me into a hug.
“You take good care of her, okay?”
“Of course.”
The waiting was torture. I stood in the middle of her old bedroom with a bouquet of flowers in one hand and the ring in the other, behind my back. She stopped short when she saw me. “Glad you're back,” I said.
“Shawn. What are you - What are you doing here?”
“I came to apologize. And to completely beg you to come home with me.”

I thought I was imagining things when I saw that beautiful head of hair. But then he spoke in the voice of my dreams and I startled slightly. I rubbed my forehead, “I said I needed time.”
“I know, pumpkin, I know. But if you could just hear me out.” He set the flowers he was holding on my old desk. “No yelling, I promise.” He reached his hands out for me. “Do you trust me?”
I sighed. Of course I did. So I placed my hands in his and he led me outside. We stood in the middle of the circle drive. “Seven years ago,” he started, “I was standing right here when you came running up to me and you wrapped your entire body around me. You were wearing mg pink Lost in Japan hoodie, with yoga shorts, no makeup, and your hair in a messy bun. I swore to myself that day that I had never seen anyone or anything look as beautiful as you did in that moment.”
“Shawn,” I tried to pull my hands back, but he brought them to his chest, near his heart.
“I'm not done,” he sighed. “I’d been in love with you for months already, by that point, but that day did it for me. That's when I really knew that you were the girl I was gonna spend my life with. I've never not believed that.” He let go of my hands and reached into his back pocket, then he took my left hand again.
Oh no.
“Y/n, my beautiful cherry blossom, my pumpkin, my love. I am so tremendously sorry. I know I've fucked up immensely these last few years, and if I could go back in time, I would. I would love you harder. I would kiss you more. I would take you on more dates because I love you. I have since the day I met you and I will until the day I die.” He got down on one knee and the tears blurred my vision.
“Shawn, no. No, no, no. Get up, bubba.” my hand flew to my mouth, this isn't how I thought it would go down. After a big fight.
“I can't take back what I've done, but I can try to make it up to you every day for the rest of my life if you'll let me.” He took in a deep breath, “Y/f/n, will you let me spend the rest of my life loving you unconditionally? Will you marry me?” He popped open the velvet box and even through my clouded eyes, I could see how big the ring was. But that's not what this was about. This was about the man in front of me, who I've spent nearly a decade of my life with. He was here in my hometown, begging for forgiveness, asking me to marry him. And it killed me that even though he'd been the worst the last two years, I still wanted him.
“Y/n,” he said, his voice shaking. “Will you marry me?” He asked again.
I took in a deep breath. He needed an answer. I closed my eyes tight and let the last few years fall before I said, “Yes.”
“Yes?”
I nodded and laughed through the tears that were now resurfacing. “You said yes. Oh my god!” He picked me up and twirled me around again and again. Once back on the ground, he put the ring on my finger with his shaking hand. “I was scared you'd say no because I messed up too much.”
I pulled him down and rested my forehead against his. “You have the rest of your life to make it up to me.” I played with the tufts of hair on the back of his neck. “I love you.”
He smiled and then he kissed me. And this kiss, it was enough to keep me grounded forever. I knew in this second that I would never regret my choice to marry him.

That's it, guys! I hope you enjoyed it!

Nothing Personal | Joshua (1/2)
Tumblr media
genre: fluff, comedy, mildly suggestive | friends to lovers | ceo!joshua x assistant!reader with slight ceo!seungcheol x reader summary: your boss joshua hong treated the number one rule to separate business from personal too lightly for your liking. word count: 5452 a/n: loosely based off of pepper and tony stark’s relationship in the first iron man???? definitely. it’s not rly friends to lovers but.... what do i tag it as.... your boss can be your friend, right?? anyways, it’s two parts cuz i can’t write a 10k fic thing cuz my head hurts and i want you all to suffer thanks enjoy!!!!
The daily walk up to Joshua Hong’s extravagant home was always a sight to be seen. You always noticed something different each time you arrived and had to commend his attention to every little detail he put into his home. If he hadn’t put such little effort in going to his own damn office on time, you wouldn’t have known the exact layout of his mansion, so you had him to thank for that.
At nine in the morning on the dot, you buzzed the intercom.
“Hello?” a groggy voice muttered.
“Mr. Hong, you’re late,” you teased. “Again…”
Not a second later, Joshua buzzed you in so you could deliver him his favorite breakfast sandwich, cup of coffee, and dry cleaning straight to his decaying body on the couch that never made it to the bed. Through the front door, it was a straight shot to a barely-conscious Joshua still dressed in last night’s suit messily sprawled on the leather cushions.
“Out partying again last night?” you asked, although you already knew the answer.
“What gave it away?” he snorted.
“Your lack of cufflinks.”
“What!?” Joshua jolted up much too quickly for his hungover state to inspect his wrists. Yup, no cufflinks. “Dammit, my Grandma gave me those!”
“Just buy another pair.”
“I can’t just buy another pair! Those had sentimental value…”
Rolling your eyes, you handed a pouty Joshua his coffee. “Iced Americano with the smallest dash of cream, as per usual.”
Joshua tightened his favorite blanket around his shoulders before happily sipping his daily cup. “Ah, perfect. What would I be without you?”
“Dead, probably,” you teased. You set down a large stack of all his paperwork for the day on his fancy coffee table before joining him on the couch with a cup of coffee of your own. “This is everything you need to sign and read over for today, as directed by literally everyone in the office.”
“This is all of it!? God, why is there so much!?”
“Because you keep putting it off until the last minute, which is today, by the way. The deadline for all of this is today.”
“Can you do it for me?” he whined, giving you that childlike pouty face that made you question his authority over you.
“Mr. Hong, I’m not forging your signature.”
“I’ll pay you.”
“Are you bribing me?”
“No, I’m simply giving you a raise for this task only.”
“I… Fine…”
“Really!?”
“Yes, but only because you need to go and get ready for that press conference that’s in, like, an hour.”
“Oh shit, I totally forgot about that!”
“Of course you did…”
Joshua ignored your passive aggressive scolding as he ran up the spiral stairs into one of his many closets. “What should I wear? Are a lot of press attending today?” he yelled from above.
“Mm, how about that dark blue suit? I like that one.”
“I’ll wear it just for you,” he teased lightly. “Suspenders or a belt?”
“Belt. It’s not that big of a deal, you don’t have to be so flashy.”
“But am I really Joshua Hong, CEO if I’m not being flashy?”
“You got me there.”
You didn’t look up from your stack of paper when you heard the clicking of his shoes on the tiles slowly make their way back to you. When the clicking paused, you looked up to see your boss styled and smiling as if he wasn’t about to hurl the contents of his stomach half an hour ago.
“How do I look?” he asked, like he always would when he tried on any outfit.
“Like a CEO,” you replied.
“That’s it?”
“What were you expecting me to say?”
“That I look like the country’s most eligible bachelor.”
“Mr. Hong, you’re going to be late if you don’t leave soon ~”
“Oh, Miss _____,” he sang, plopping down next to you. “Remind me again how long we’ve known each other?”
His light breathing tickled the shell of your ear as he peeked over your shoulder to check your progress on the paperwork. Throughout your years together, you learned to get accustomed to your Boss’s inherent ways of close contact, and peeking over your shoulder was probably his number one preference with you because he adored the way you used to get startled every time. But after a couple of years, his flirty and teasing ways had little-to-no effect on you and you planned to keep it that way.
Someone had to keep it professional between the two of you.
“Almost seven years,” you answered, not losing your focus on the paperwork.
“And yet you still call me Mr. Hong. It’s like I’m your boss, or something.”
“I mean, you are my boss...”
“Yeah, but we’re friends, too, aren’t we? CEOs and their assistants can be friends, especially after so long.”
“That’s not very professional, now is it?”
“I’m not one for professionalism and you know it.” After a rough tousling of your hair, he threw you a quick wink and strutted towards the door. “Have a good day, Miss _____. Like the good friend that I am, I owe you a drink when I come home.”
“If you come home, that is.”
“See, you know me so well! Like a friend would!”
“As your assistant, I literally have to know you well - and he’s out the door…”
After a long sigh and a big gulp of your cold coffee, you went back to tack the stack of papers. You had a long day ahead of you.
You actually finished a lot earlier than you expected. All the business calls you made went accordingly, you scheduled all of Joshua’s meetings and appearances weeks in advance, and even made yourself a nice dinner with all of the food he wouldn’t have eaten.
This definitely wasn’t the first time you’ve spent long hours working in his house alone, but each time you’ve done so, you always questioned if he was ever lonely. You knew your boss was someone who enjoyed having someone else’s company by his side, so living in a mansion with several unoccupied rooms must have added some weight to Joshua’s already-heavy shoulders.
That’s probably why he frequently brought female friends over to occupy his night. But whatever your boss did after hours was his business, not yours.
After tidying up the mess you made and neatly clipping his papers, you were just about ready to leave for the night when your boss came home with a bottle of wine and a long garment covered in wrapping in his hands.
He greeted you with open arms and a foxy grin. “Honey, I’m home ~”
“Don’t calling me that,” you cringed. “You’re coming home alone for once?”
“You make it sound like I bring home a different woman every night.” Joshua chuckled at your accusing expression. “I don’t bring one home every night…”
“Mmhmm. All of the paperwork is on the table, your chores and stuff are done, and so am I, now if you’ll excuse me -”
“Where do you think you’re going? We have a date, remember?” Your boss held you tightly by the shoulders and forced you back into the kitchen so he could fulfill his word on making you a drink.
“Mr. Hong, I’m really tired ~”
“I got you a gift.” He dangled the mysterious piece of something by the coat hanger. “But you’re not allowed to have it until we have our drink.”
“I hope you aren’t always buying your friends stuff so they’d hang out with you.”
“If I’m being honest, you’re my only true friend, so I can spoil you as much as I want. Will you help me pour the wine while I get comfortable?”
You nodded as Joshua ran up to his room to change. He was the first person to introduce and explain to you what a wine decanter was. It was a necessity, he told you, especially for this particular red wine. It wasn’t five dollar Barefoot brand cheap, but it wasn’t worth hundreds of dollars, either. You’ve drank this wine with him so many times that if you were blindfolded and tasted over a dozen different brands, you’d be able to distinguish this brand in a heartbeat.
Minutes later, he came back down in his boyish pajama pants and a white t-shirt, making him look much younger. It reminded you of when you first met fresh-out-of-university Joshua.
You began pouring the wine into glasses that were as big as your head. “You still drink this brand of wine?”
“Of course I do. Doesn’t it bring you back to the good ol’ times?”
“You mean the struggling times?”
“Humbling times, Miss _____, humbling. You think of things so negatively.” He clinked his glass with yours before drinking. “Cheers to you, my friend.”
“To me? Why?”
“Don’t act like you don’t know,” he teased. His grin dropped to an incredulous frown when he saw your confused expression. “Really? You forgot? Again!?”
“Is it the anniversary of when I became your subordinate, or something?”
“No, silly. It’s your birthday.”
“What? No it’s not, I looked at the date like thirty times today, and today is definitely not - oh… Oops.”
Yup, the date on your phone was definitely correct. Today was your birthday, and you completely forgot for like, the seventh year in a row. You were always so busy with work and Joshua that the importance of your own birthday was never high on your priority list. Not like you cared to celebrate it, anyways. And besides, Joshua was always there to celebrate with you.
If there was one thing Joshua never forgot, it was your birthday.
“I guess it is my birthday,” you chuckled. “Is that why you have a gift for me?”
“Absolutely.”
“Can I see it?”
“Close your eyes.”
You excitedly did as you were told. The long sound of an opening zipper was the only sound in his whole mansion. Every year, Joshua Hong gifted you something so extravagant for putting up with his shit for so many years and each year, it got better and better.
“Ok, you can open them.”
With wide eyes, you looked at the gorgeous wine-red floor-length gown in Joshua’s hands. He grinned widely at your twinkling eyes.
“Mr. Hong, it’s really beautiful,” you gasped.
“You like it? I saw it and immediately thought of you.”
“Why of me?”
He simply shrugged. “I think wine-red suits you. It’s sophisticated and sexy, just like you.”
“Please don’t call me sexy.”
“Fine ~”
“Thank you, really. I have the perfect occasion to wear it to, also.”
“Oh?” Joshua’s curiosity was rising.
“The charity gala is this weekend,” you sighed, not at all surprised by his forgetfulness anymore.
“Oh, right!” he giggled. You could tell the wine was already affecting him by the way his cheeks blushed.
“Is this why you didn’t bring someone home today? Because it’s my birthday?”
“Not only that. I actually haven’t brought anyone home lately.”
“Didn’t you bring some model home a couple of days ago?”
Joshua shook his head sheepishly. “I said I did, but only because I need to keep my reputation up.”
“I’m not going to think less of you for not sleeping with someone,” you snorted.
“Yeah, but I don’t sound cool…”
“Do you have a reason for your newfound act of celibacy?”
Joshua watched his wine swirl in his glass. Lately, his late night rendezvous just weren’t the same like when he was younger. Spontaneous sex with a stranger wasn’t fun or pleasurable to him anymore. It almost felt like a job, like he actually had a reputation to keep up. He was a young, rich, and extremely handsome single man who built his company from the ground up, of course he had people crawling to him left and right. But there was always something missing whenever he was screwing someone random.
Could it be that Joshua Hong, CEO and the most eligible bachelor in the country actually wanted to look for a permanent companion?
“I don’t know, to be honest,” he told you. “The sex isn’t that great anymore.”
“Whoa, the Mr. Hong doesn’t think sex is great anymore? Call the press.”
“Very funny. I meant mindless, emotionless sex, not sex in general. Don’t make me sound crazy now.”
“Mr. Hong, are you trying to say you’re looking for love ~?” you teased.
“Oh God, I think I am.” Joshua downed a huge gulp of the wine before grabbing your hands for some more. “Pour some more and don’t stop until I say so.”
“No way, you’ll blackout again, be late for work, and then we’ll have to do this all over again tomorrow!”
“That’s the point, now do as your boss tells you.”
“No.”
“God, I could have you fired, you know.”
“You could, but you won’t.”
“You’re right. No one knows how I like my coffee except for you.”
“Glad to know that’s all I’m good for,” you scoffed, drinking more of your wine.
“You know I appreciate everything you do for me,” Joshua smiled softly. His eyes always twinkled so cutely whenever he drank. It was no wonder he always brought someone home after a night out. You could easily get hypnotized by his eyes alone. “I wouldn’t trade you for anyone else in the world.”
“That’s a lie!” you screeched, nudging his side and laughing loudly as you recalled one of your several million memories with Joshua. “You were so ready to trade me for Seungcheol’s ex-secretary in a heartbeat!”
“I said that one time! One! And if you’re not going to call me by my first name, don’t call Seungcheol by his or else I’ll get jealous.”
“Fine, fine,” you sighed dreamily. “You better not trade me for someone hotter than me. I didn’t stick by you all these years just to get dumped like that.”
“Sticking by a boring old sap like me was completely your conscious choice. I can’t believe you’re still here next to me, to be honest.” With a lazy hand, he poked your cheek adoringly. “Why are you still with me, by the way?”
“Haven’t I told you this a thousand times already?”
“Yes, but I want to hear it a thousand more.”
You rolled your eyes excessively while trying to ignore the growing grin on your boss’s lips. “Because I believe in what you do, and you’re amazing at it.”
“And that’s why you’re the number one woman in my heart.”
“Ugh, stop it.”
You spent the rest of the night next to Joshua on his fancy kitchen island finishing as much of the wine as you both could. You’ve been drunk before, off of beers and expensive cocktails, but being wine drunk was a totally different experience, especially since it was just you and Joshua alone in his home. Usually the two of you were at some after party or in the club intoxicated together, but in all seven years of knowing him, you’ve never been drunk alone with him, let alone wine drunk.
There was something about the warmth of wine that pulled the two of you closer together.
“Alright, boss,” you started, standing up from your chair clumsily. “It’s time for me to go home.”
“You can’t stay longer?” he pouted.
“No, because you have an early meeting tomorrow morning.”
“Well, you can’t drive home, can you?”
“I’ll just call a cab and get my car next time.”
Before you could get to your jacket, Joshua stumbled to get to it before you did and held it high above your head so you couldn’t reach it. You were way too tipsy to fight back so you hung your head back and let out a loud whine that echoed through his home. His airy laugh joined in afterwards, distracting you from the arm that was snaking around your waist that helped you float towards your boss. You didn’t even blame his arm for pulling you closer to him - that was all your own doing.
“Mr. Hong, what are you doing?” Your voice sounded hoarse and quiet, and Joshua kind of liked it that way.
He wanted to hear you say his name like that again.
Tossing your jacket aside, he wrapped his other arm around you. His half-lidded eyes switched back and forth between your own and your lips, unable to decide which was more enticing.
“Stay,” he whispered, like he was begging you to.
And as much as you wanted to, you couldn’t. You shouldn’t. It was against all of your morals to do so.
You unwrapped his gentle hands from your waist and gave them a light squeeze. “I’ll see you at the gala, Mr. Hong,” you told him.
“I won’t see you tomorrow?”
“I deserve at least one day off a week, don’t you think?”
“Ah, right. I’m so used to seeing you throughout the week that I always forget. Enjoy your day off, ok?”
“I will.” With careful hands, you took a hold of your new dress. “Thank you again for my birthday gift. I love it a lot.”
Joshua simply nodded, too tired to give you his heart-stopping smile that you adored. It was substituted for one that felt a little lonelier. “I can’t wait to see you in it. You’ll look beautiful.”
“Will you match with me this weekend?”
“Match with you? As in wear red also?” You nodded eagerly. How could he say no to you? “Ok. I’ll go buy a new suit just for you.”
“You don’t have to buy a whole new suit.”
“I don’t have to, but I want to. We’ll be the best looking pair at the gala.”
You bit your bottom lip excitedly and all Joshua could think of was how much he wanted to do the same to you. “I can’t wait! I’ll see you in a couple of days, Mr. Hong.”
“Get home safely.”
“Don’t be late to your meeting tomorrow! I set an alarm and everything!”
When you left him alone, his mind was swimming with a mix between how exhausted he was and how he could only imagine the dirtiest scenarios when you popped up in his head. Quite the normal night for him lately. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get you off of his mind, and even alcohol couldn’t make him cloud his detailed imagination. He trudged back into the kitchen, hoping he could finish the wine before he headed to bed.
The next morning, he was still late for his meeting.
Only the finest and the richest were allowed to attend the charity gala and you felt so out of place when you arrived alone. Sure, your dress was beautiful and designer or whatever, but being around the other guests who were much like your boss made you feel so little and almost like you stood out amongst the rest. Joshua told you he had some other business to take care of before arriving, so he told you to go ahead and order however many drinks you needed to calm yourself down and to put it on his tab, which was extremely dangerous because you were extremely tempted to buy out the entire bar.
An hour had passed since the doors opened to the gala and Joshua still wasn’t here.
“God, you really know how to keep a girl waiting, huh, Mr. Hong?” you muttered bitterly to yourself as you aggressively sent text after text to his phone next to the bar.
“He surely knows how to keep anyone waiting,” a familiar voice teased behind you. Turning around, your eyes widened to see the most handsome man you had ever laid eyes on, Choi Seungcheol, clad in the blackest suit. “Miss _____,” he greeted.
“Oh, Mr. Choi!” you said enthusiastically. “It’s nice to see you again. You look dashing, as always.”
“Likewise, Princess. I feel like every time I bump into you, you’re always waiting on Mr. Joshua Hong.”
“I’ve spent at least half of my life waiting on him…”
“While you wait, can I join you for a drink?”
Well, of course you said yes.
Seungcheol was so easy to talk to and you always looked forward to a short conversation with him whenever you ran into each other. He was a great listener and actually contributed to the conversation, unlike other men in this industry you’ve encountered, although you often felt like melting under his fiery gaze whenever he looked at you as he listened. He wanted you to make sure that you knew he was attentive to you and you only.
After a few drinks and with little food in your stomach, you already started to feel a bit woozy. “My tolerance isn’t as high as it was several years ago,” you pouted.
“That’s your fault for not keeping up. You have Mr. Joshua and I to thank for building up your tolerance.”
“God, don’t remind me. You guys peer pressured me so much at your private meetings and Mr. Hong threatened to demote me if I said no, what other choice did I have!?”
Seungcheol chuckled lightly. “Hey, we’ve had some good times together, haven’t we?”
“Correction, Mr. Hong and your secretary had some good times together,” you scoffed.
“Ex-secretary,” he corrected. “She was absolutely terrible. My search for my own Miss _____ continues on.”
“Mr. Choi, you flatter me.”
“My offer to you as becoming my assistant is still on the table ~”
“And I’ll always humbly reject.”
“Ugh, Joshua doesn’t deserve you, you know,” he joked.
“Of course I know. Covering for his ass doesn’t get easier as the years go by.”
“I don’t mean to be rude or invasive, but lately I’ve been curious so I have to ask; doesn’t being Joshua’s assistant get in the way of your love life?”
You’ve received this question often, both as a joke and out of genuine curiosity. A healthy mix of your friends, curious women in the same department, and men like Seungcheol would ask you because God, you’ve been so kind and loyal to Joshua much longer than most romantic relationships and it’s a wonder why you don’t have someone to love for yourself. Then again, Joshua was probably literally the number one person in your life at the moment that any other person that tried to capture your heart would be too scared to get in between you two.
And that just fucking sucked for you, didn’t it? It’s not that Joshua forbade you to date or that you weren’t looking for a relationship, but the fact that being glued to Joshua’s side for the past seven years was the reason for your stunted love life made your heart wrench painfully.
But you would never trade being by your boss’s side for some temporary relationship, even if it meant you’d be single forever. You could at least assure yourself that you’d never feel alone if you were by his side.
You downed the remainder of your drink in your glass. “Absolutely, but it’s not his fault.”
“He doesn’t chase away all the scary men that prey after his little assistant?” Seungcheol teased.
“Hey! I am not HIS, ok, I am my own. And no, he doesn’t. My lack of a lovelife is my own doing.”
“Too focused on your work?”
“That’s the typical response, isn’t it?”
“It is. Aren’t you lonely, though?”
“Are you trying to date me, Mr. Choi?”
“You should already know the answer to that,” he said, nudging you playfully.
“I mean… Yes and no. Of course I’d love to be in a relationship or get married one day, but right now, I’m happy with where I am.”
“But you’re not lonely?”
“I’m with Mr. Hong six days out of the week, it’s a bit hard for me to feel lonely. I enjoy his company regardless.”
“Wow, he really doesn’t deserve you.”
“God, I know…”
“Ok, no more relationship talk. Tonight’s supposed to be a fun night! Let’s lighten up the mood.” Stepping away from the bar, Seungcheol held out his hand for you to take. “Will you dance with me?”
“Why Mr. Choi, of course I will.”
Joshua Hong was quite known for arriving fashionably late to any occasion - arriving late and leaving early was what he did best. Dressed in an all-burgundy suit, hair slicked back and ears decked with jewels, he finally walked into the ballroom. He really didn’t want to make you angry just days after your birthday, but he woke up late from his afternoon nap! So now he had to lie and say he had to take care of some other business as he rushed to get ready and now here he was, nearly two hours late.
Joshua scanned the entire ballroom for your red dress. First, he checked the bar. No sign of you there, surprisingly. Then, he checked the tables. He didn’t spot you sitting alone scowling at your phone.
The last place he expected to see you was on the dancefloor in the arms of man that wasn’t him.
He watched you dance casually with a grinning Seungcheol. The conversation you two were having must have been hilarious by the way you threw your head back to laugh at nearly everything he said. You and him danced with a reasonable amount of space in between, so Joshua wasn’t worried about the skinship you both shared. What really bothered him was the way you smiled at Seungcheol.
Joshua had never seen you so genuinely happy and enjoying yourself. You were never like that with him. You always kept things professional.
Annoyed by the scene in front of him, he sauntered over to you, trying to hide his grimacing face. Seungcheol was the first to notice his appearance, but that didn’t make him loosen his grip on you. Joshua didn’t miss the dangerous twinkle in his eyes.
“Mr. Joshua Hong, how nice of you to join us,” Seungcheol greeted.
“Oh, hi. How nice of you to finally join us,” you corrected.
Joshua ignored your scolding. “I hope I wasn’t interrupting something.”
“Not really,” you said, grinning up at Seungcheol. “Just two friends enjoying each other’s company.”
“I didn’t know you two were so close.”
“She looked kind of lonely earlier, so I thought I’d join her.” Seungcheol winked at you.
“How chivalrous of you,” Joshua seethed.
The tension between the two alpha males was making you uncomfortable. Joshua always hated events like these, which was why he always arrived late and stayed by the bar the whole night, and you figured that the lack of alcohol was why he was so grumpy right now. But he was always sort of protective over his little assistant whenever he saw someone take an interest in you. It was annoying to have to remind him every time that you are not just his ‘little assistant’ and that you are a totally capable adult that could flirt around here and there if you wanted to. But to avoid any mess you’d probably have to clean up later, you gave Seungcheol one last smile before dragging a glaring Joshua out to the giant outdoor balcony to cool off.
“It’s beautiful out tonight, isn’t it?” Joshua began once you both reached the edge. By the look of your unimpressed face, Joshua knew you weren’t up for playing games tonight. He cleared his throat awkwardly. “Hey.”
“Don’t ‘hey’ me. You’re extremely late. You were supposed to speak on the company’s behalf tonight about the donation and you missed it! I had to lie and say someone in the office had to go to the emergency room! What business was so important that you’re two hours late!?”
“I... woke up late from my nap.”
You sighed loudly. “You are a piece of work, Mr. Hong. I literally cannot believe that you graduated from high school and university without being expelled a million times for tardiness.”
“Ah, don’t lecture me so loud, people are looking.”
“And what the hell was that back there with Seungcheol!?”
“There you go again, calling him by his first name.”
“Mr. Hong, I’m serious -”
“Me, too.”
“I -” You paused mid-sentence to calm yourself down from all of the frustration that’s been building up. It wasn’t healthy to be mixing it with alcohol, either. You always hated the way your eyes would tear up from overwhelming amounts of frustration and when Joshua saw the stars reflect in your tired eyes, he thought that maybe he was overreacting just a bit. “What do you want me to say? I was just having fun. It’s not like there was anything going on.”
“That’s not what it looked like to me.”
“Well, maybe if you arrived on time, that could have been you and I having fun, not me and Seung- Mr. Choi.”
For the first time tonight, you saw Joshua smile. “You would have danced with me?”
“If you asked me to, sure.”
“Then let’s dance.”
Joshua stepped away from the edge of the balcony to the middle of the stone floor, waiting for you to join him like some fairytale prince. You looked at him with wide eyes, unable to comprehend how he could ignore all of the staring as he stood alone. Hurriedly, you joined him and tried to pull him back.
“What are you doing!? People are staring!” you hissed.
“Then let them stare. You said you would dance with me if I asked, so here I am asking.”
“There isn’t even any music playing.”
“So? You don’t need music to dance.” With his gentle hands, he took your right hand in his left, and the other caressed the small of your back. “As your boss, I am ordering you to dance with me.”
“Mr. Hong, this is unprofessional, everyone knows I’m your assistant.”
“So what? Stop caring about what other people think of us.” His words held a lighter weight to them than they should have as he swayed with you to the muffled music inside of the ballroom. “I just want to enjoy this moment being here with you. Just a boss and his assistant having fun. We’re having fun, right?”
You nodded silently, too embarrassed to look him in the eyes as you danced to the hushed music. Joshua pulled you in closer and you let him, allowing you to rest your tired head on his shoulders. Closing your eyes, you did as you were told - you didn’t let the stares of all the people bother you and you didn’t care about what they thought. You wanted to stay in this moment with your boss for as long as you could.
“I was right,” he whispered. “You look absolutely breathtaking tonight.”
Without a warning, he pressed the lightest kiss on top of your head. You’ve never felt your heart swell up so big before that you swear you could cry.
You don’t know how long you were dancing out there, but it was after the last song of the night faded into silence and you and Joshua were the last guests still occupying the venue. He was the first to step away from you. With his gentle hands, he lifted your chin up so you would look at him. You were flustered and confused, but you still looked stunning nonetheless.
“Come home with me,” he pleaded.
You nodded.
You and Joshua barely made it through his front door before his lips hungrily attacked your own. Seven whole years the both of you wondered what your lips tasted like and you finally got your answer. He was ready to slip the dress right off and take you right there, but that wouldn’t be romantic or professional for your first time with him, would it? Excitedly, he carried you up to his room and laid you down gently on the softest bed you’ve ever touched. Joshua crawled on top of you and for a while, he just looked at you, drinking in how beautiful your smile was and unable to believe that you were really, finally here with him.
“What?” you asked after a moment of silence.
“Nothing,” he reassured. “I’m just happy that you’re here.”
“Me, too.”
Light kisses trailed from your jawline to your neck until he found that one spot that drove you mad enough to curl your fingers through his hair. His deep moans tickled against your skin and Joshua adored how sensitive you were, all because of him.
He lips paused just above your ear. “Tell me one thing,” he whispered huskily. “What’s my name?”
You swallowed hard. You knew exactly what he was asking for. If it meant that he would continue with what he was doing, then you’ll do as your told.
“Joshua,” you said.
He moaned in approval and his lips continued.
“Good girl.”

oops i did it again
For @theonbaejoys, who I had to keep this a secret from! (Oops?) but this is based on your prompt, so please enjoy!
Tumblr media
They didn’t exchange numbers.
Sansa only knows his name: Jon Snow. She’d promised herself she wouldn’t look him up, she wouldn’t stalk his Facebook to find out more about him, she wouldn’t go back to that bar and try to find him again. This is what a one-night stand is, and this is what she wants to remember it as—a hot night with a complete stranger. A thing to make the numbness go away, to slow the fear of where her life is going. A stranger.
Only he’s not such a stranger now, standing in the middle of her parents’ living room. He looks confused, horrified and more than a little sick—Sansa’s sure that if anyone were looking at her, her expression would mirror his.
“What?” Arya finally chokes out, breaking the silence.
Their father’s tried to settle on a smile, but it’s really more of a grimace. “This is your half-brother. He was born before your mother and I got married. His mom—Ashara—and I knew each other in college.”
Jon looks utterly out of place in their tastefully decorated room. He’s standing—they’re all standing—and his scuffed sneakers and black jeans clash with the warm yellows and browns of the living room. It had been that look that attracted Sansa to him in the first place, that bad-boy look, so far from any guy she’d ever look at twice. He’d been less bad boy, though, when she spoke to him, yelling over the noise of the bar. More of an overworked student than anything, it seemed, studying history and working on his thesis. It hadn’t taken Sansa much time to decide she didn’t mind that he was cuter when he smiled—rather than the broody look she’d spotted him with. Or that he was nice enough to offer her his soft leather jacket when they stepped out to smoke.
Or that he’d gone down on her without a word of protest. He’d initiated, for heaven’s sake. The next morning, Sansa had done the walk of shame with an extra bounce to her step—Joff had never made sure she orgasmed when they’d had sex, and this sex had been amazing, mind blowing.
A one-time thing. Sansa had been firm with herself.
A one-time thing. She was never going to see him again. Except here he is, and he’s her half-brother. Sansa thinks she’s going to faint.
Her mother doesn’t look happy. Her face is pinched, but she still offers a strained smile. “Jon’s mother passed a month ago,” she tells them. “It was her wish that your father and Jon get to know one another. And your father wanted you all to meet him.”
Sansa can’t keep standing. She sits heavily on the couch. She can’t tear her eyes away from his face. How did she not see it? He looks like Father, in the light. It had been dark in the bar, but now she can see the dark grey of his eyes, the long Stark face.
Only a week ago, she’d picked him up in a bar and gone home with him. Sansa has never been so rash before, she’s never done something so stupid. That was supposed to be it, her last wild night before committing to her law program, committing to Joff.
Jon’s voice is unsteady when he opens his mouth to speak. “It was nice to meet you all,” he tries, sounding unconvinced. His eyes dart around the room, and finally they meet Sansa’s. Despite herself, a bolt of electricity runs through her body, remembered heat from their night together. Her face is red, she’s sure.
“I have to go,” Jon continues, clearing his throat.
There is silence when their father walks him to the door. Sansa is still in a state of shock. And what’s more—she can’t forget that moment, when his eyes met hers.
Just because Sansa didn’t want to take his number down doesn’t mean she forgot where he lives. Okay, she did forget which block it was. She was slightly drunk that night, but thankfully she checks the record of her uber trips and there it is—proof of her bad decisions, his address staring her in the face.
His hair isn’t tied up when he answers the door, but messy in the way it’d been the morning she left. Sansa suppresses the urge to run her fingers through his locks. She’d done it that morning, when he kissed her goodbye in the doorway.
This is too much—not just the déjà vu, but the swirling of anxiety and something else in Sansa’s belly.
“Sansa,” he says, rubbing the back of his neck. “I—what are you doing here?”
“We need to talk,” Sansa answers. “Can I come in, or are we going to do this out here, where the neighbors can hear?”
His hand clenches on the doorknob. “Come in,” he says, swinging the door open.
His apartment is cleaner than she remembers. He’s doing laundry, and it’s half-folded on the couch. The place is tiny, barely bigger than a closet, but tidy. He’s in his last year of grad school, a TA at NYU. Sansa thought she forgot everything about him—she’d wanted to forget, let it be a meaningless one night stand. But some things must have gotten through, like the stack of papers he’s grading at the table, that he’d made her coffee before she left, offered to pay for her uber. God, the best sex she’s ever had, the most considerate guy she’s been with—and her brother.
“Look,” he says, fidgeting with the sleeve of his sweater. “What we did was fucked up. There’s no way to…no other way to see it. We need to forget it.”
“Agreed,” Sansa says, her heart clenching. “I—it was insane of me, anyway, I’ve never…”
She trails off. God, he’s hot. Why can’t she stop looking at him?
Jon seems to be making a decision. Finally, he sits down at his rickety table and rubs his eyes. “My mom died last month,” he says. “I was lonely when we met at that bar. My friend Grenn wanted to go out for his birthday, and Sam told me I had to get out before I fused to my couch. And you—” he cuts himself off, pained. “We need to forget that it ever happened.”
Sansa swallows and nods. “I know,” she says. Up close, he looks tired and worried. And then his eyes are on hers and they’re so dark. He doesn’t look like he wants to forget. Sansa doesn’t either, she realizes. She lets her eyes fall to his lips.
Before she knows what’s happened, they’re both reaching for each other, and she’s on his lap and her mouth is on his again—
God, it’s sweeter than she remembers, more desperate. She never wants it to end.
When their father invites Jon to stay for Christmas, Sansa doesn’t actually think Jon will show up. When she makes her way into the house, though, his boots are in the foyer, still crusted with snow.
“Jon’s here,” Arya tells Sansa. Her eyes are bright. “He’s really cool,” she continues, while Sansa struggles out of her coat. “He’s into baseball and history—and Rickon’s been following him around for two hours.” She chews her lip. “Mom’s not happy, though.”
“I’m sure,” Sansa says breezily, kicking off her shoes and already moving towards the kitchen. “Mom! I’m home!”
She sees Jon out of the corner of her eye, wavering in the doorway to the living room, but keeps her eyes straight ahead.
They are civil. It’s a good word for them. Jon doesn’t linger on her. His eyes never meet hers for too long. Sansa’s glad, because it would just make this too hard. The sick feeling since she found out two weeks ago hasn’t gone away, but neither has her wanting. It’s better to just have this distance, for now. Until they can behave normally, though Sansa isn’t sure that will happen any time soon. He even helps her set the table, and they have a non-conversation, using Robb as their shield.
Joff stops by to drop off a present. Sansa doesn’t doubt his mother had her assistant buy it and had to bribe Joff into bringing it along. Sansa gives him a smile and kiss, politely asks if he’d like to stay for Christmas dinner.
She knows he won’t. He’s meeting with a classmate of his tonight, after his family dinner. He declines, shakes her father’s hand, and checks out Arya’s ass all in the space of six seconds.
Sansa’s relieved to see him go. She doesn’t check to see if Jon had watched their exchange. The weight of his eyes on them was heavy enough to feel.
“Don’t forget about the brunch tomorrow,” Joffrey tells her in the doorway. “My mother told me you’re expected at eight. And that you shouldn’t eat all the lemoncakes, like you did last year.”
“I had two,” Sansa says flatly. The combination of stress and eggnog (with tequila sneaked in) has been getting to her. “Besides, I’m not sure if I can go,” she continues, surprising herself. “I’m going to be tired.”
Joff raises an eyebrow, challenging her. “My mother wants you there.”
And you don’t, Sansa thinks. “I’m sure,” she says. “She’s also going to want to nurse her hangover. You know how she gets on Christmas, with the stress of Jaime and Tyrion and your grandfather staying over. She might not be in the entertaining mood tomorrow. You remember last year.”
Joff’s face flushes with annoyance. “You’re coming,” he insists. “It starts at eleven. Be there.” He barely looks at her when he leaves, but his parting words sting. “Try not to pig out too much tonight. My mother said you looked bloated last week.” He lays a perfunctory kiss on her cheek, already checking his phone. “I’m just looking out for you.”
“I’m glad you came, Jon,” Sansa says, halfway through dinner. Her face is still red with anger and embarrassment, her tongue loosened with the red wine. “It’s been really nice having an addition to the family, and I’m very glad you weren’t alone this Christmas. Aren’t you?”
He looks up, startled. This isn’t the normal they agreed on, pulling their clothes back, faces turned away in shame. They agreed to steer clear, to get along if they could. Not interrupt dinner conversation and talk.
“Yeah,” he says at last. He’s barely touched anything on his plate, but he’s on his second glass of wine.
“Sansa wasn’t going to stay home this Christmas,” Robb interjects. “She was talking about heading to the Baratheons. I was maybe going to head to Jeyne’s. But I’m glad we stayed and I’m glad we’ve gotten this opportunity to know one another better.”
Bran raises his glass—sparkling water, but it carries the weight of a toast. “To family,” he says, awkwardly. But their father laughs and raises his glass as well.
Sansa makes sure his eyes meet hers when she drinks to that.
She’s angry and confused. She’s been this way for a while, no matter how much she wants to deny it. There is nothing that’s gone right these past few months, not school, not Joff, not Sansa, if she’s honest. She felt good with Jon. He made her forget, for a little bit.
She wants that again. And she wants it more than she wants to hate herself for what she’s done—what she did twice now.
Jon’s staying in Uncle Benjen’s old room, the end of the hall. It’s right next to her parents’ bedroom. Sansa is mostly sober by the time she makes the decision to slip inside.
“Jon,” she whispers. She hopes he’s awake. She hopes he’s not.
“Sansa?” He answers, his voice cutting through the dark. She can see his expression, when the lamp clicks on. He knows why she’s here.
She can’t forget who they are to each other. But she wants to, for tonight. Maybe more than just tonight.
“Merry Christmas?” she tries, sitting on the edge of the bed, putting a hand on his knee. “It doesn’t feel very happy to me, but I hope you enjoyed it. Arya and Rickon are obsessed with you now, and you even got my mom to crack a smile.”
Jon looks cautious. “Your mom has been nice.”
“For my father’s sake. You know that.”
Jon presses his lips together, and shifts. She keeps her hand where it is.
“That guy—”
“My boyfriend Joffrey,” Sansa supplies, her voice twisted and sharp as a nail.
“—Arya says he’s a bit of an asshole.”
“He’s a lot of an asshole,” Sansa says, turning away. “But we have plans. I’m going to be Mrs. Joffrey Baratheon.”
“You shouldn’t,” Jon says, softly. “You looked really upset after he left. You shouldn’t—be with someone like that. You deserve better.”
Sansa laughs. It’s an ugly laugh, filled with pain and hurts she can’t show anyone. But Jon doesn’t really know her yet. There’s no harm in letting him see a little.
“What?” she challenges. “Like you?”
And with that, Sansa kisses him.
It’s soft, barely a press of skin. Vulnerable.
“I want you so much,” she confesses. “I wish I didn’t, but I do.”
Jon kisses her again.
Their first time had been fun. Their second was a flurry of desperation and tension. This is slow, exploratory. Sweet. Intense in a way Sansa hadn’t expected, when Jon pulls down her panties and groans in her mouth. A relief when she finally sinks down onto him, shaking and ready.
She doesn’t make it to brunch.

But It’s Your Birthday~
Summary: You convinced jun you weren’t going to their performance even if it was his birthday because of a test, but you still did like a supportive girlfriend and die hard carat would.  disclaimer: gif not mine full © to owner.

Imagine though…
You told Jun that you weren’t going to their show, since you had an exam coming up and jun knew you work hard to keep your grades up so he understood. But then again… you wouldn’t miss any of seventeen’s performances especially if the venue was only 20 mins away like this one. You were going you purposely told jun you weren’t because it’d ruin the plan you thought of when you bought the ticket.
Minghao knew about this plan since he is one of the reasons why you got to meet jun, and so did S.coups -you and minghao agreed to tell him since he’s the leader of seventeen and you thought it’d be safer if he knew, and you were so glad you told him.
The day of the concert you received a backstage pass delivered to your house by one of their managers who also mentioned it was a gift of s.coups. And as the time for the concert got closer you were nervous yet excited, and at the same time jun was rehearsing on stage with the others - he did his best to keep a positive vibe knowing it’d affect the others if he showed how gloomy he was knowing you wouldn’t be able to make it.
After all the lining up,finding your seat, and waiting for the sun to fully set the stage finally lit up and you along with other carats started chanting for seventeen and waving your bong bongs to the beat. And the intro video started to play and screams from the fans (always including you) grew louder each time a member was flashed // you screamed the loudest when it was jun, like you always do when it comes to him // until one by one they appeared on stage.
You couldn’t help but feel you you heart well up watching them perform with the same energy and passion ‘these boys are really something’ you smiled up at them even if you knew they couldn’t see you in the crowd. A few hours later all the songs on the set list you memorized were sang and they were about to take their final bow.
‘I should get going..’ You thought getting out of your seat and making your way towards the back stage.
When you arrived, the manager Minghao mentioned greeted you and escorted you to the side of the stage where they’d enter and exit, “Jun will be so happy to see you” The lady said, before going back to her work. You were expecting the boys to bound to where you were but the lights that shut moments ago were on again, “ah, you think we’re done? Nah~” dk said, then the music to ‘20’ started to play, along with the shrieks of the carats, you couldn’t help but bounce and have your own concert where you stayed.
You danced to the beat of the bubbly song and even lip synced to it - everyone knows you were a fan even before you dated jun - and you practically forgot you had to stay hidden at least until the concert was really over, by the time you opened your most of every one was looking back at where you were.
‘Oops’ you thought giving them a small shy wave.
You watched as Mingyu crossed the whole stage just to get to jun and in time with that the song ended - Everyone else was busy with their goodbyes, when mingyu pointed you out to jun. And the boy who couldn’t keep his excitement contained ran towards you //who knows how many cameras in were on him and him only when he did that// S.coups and minghao were faster though, they blocked his path until woozi properly ended the concert with a little speech - they knew the two of you could get in big trouble if he ran off stage.
“You said you couldn’t make it, and don’t you have an exam to study for?” He asked the moment you caught him in your arms.
“ but it’s your birthday~ ” you whinned playfully. A huge grin grew on his face and he gave you a quick kiss. Not long after the others arrived just in time to catch you all red like a tomato.
HAPPY JUN DAY ~~ A birthday special ;)) two gifs and a long scenario.. lit stayed up just for this boy 😂

Day 11
It’s now been nineteen days and 1035 edges since I’ve gotten to cum. All day I’m just horny and desperate to cum, the other night I ended up going on a walk with my plug in and I almost edged just from walking around with it in, I’ve never been thaaat needy before. And this is just the beginning.
But, continuing from where I left off cause I’m still pretty behind, I’d woken up and that morning I was greeted with some fantastic news, I got to take toothless out of the box for 24 hours😁😁😁!! I was super excited to be getting a little treat for being good the night before and finishing my edges and tasks while daddy couldn’t play.
But today I was going to be a bit busy with friends, one was coming over to have dinner and go out a bit and then spend the night, so I wasn’t going to be able to play a whole lot. Daddy told me I better get started on my edges before she came over. I finished 70, and I remember that those 70 got me very dangerously close to cumming🤤😅, but I really wanted to smoke with my friend that night so it was worth it. Daddy had me wear a crotch rope after till my friend came over to keep my nice and sensitive – that certainly worked as I cleaned. We tried using my remote vibe but it was being buggy☹️☹️, maybe next time.
We went out to dinner and Daddy reminded me that I couldn’t pee without permission😳. While at a restaurant it’s really hard for me not to pee because I’ll drink endless amounts of water, and we had bought other drinks as well. But of course, eventually I just had to ask Daddy to go to the bathroom. He said no and made me wait, I hadn’t been feeling particularly little or submissive at this point- since I’d taken the crotch rope off and kind of got used to being with my friend who’s not as kinky. But being made to wait while sitting at the table chatting brought those feelings right back to the surface😳😅. It was everything I could do to keep from pouting at my phone. Eventually he let me go, under the condition of sending him a video of me peeing at the restaurant and like usual my face just went beat red but I had done it beforeee so I knew this time would at least be a little easier.
So to the bathroom I went, it was a little challenging, knowing there were just people outside the door, but I managed and sent the video to Daddy and returned to the table feeling very very very little.
Eventually we got back to my house, but we were planning on leaving for a mutual friends for a little bit. I had asked Daddy if I could pee while I was still at home but again I had to wait, and eventually we had to go and I ended up sitting in the car holding it on my way to my friends house. Once there we were all chatting upstairs while I was asking my Daddy if I could go pee. And finalllyyyy I could, but this time I owed him a selfie of me sitting there with a bra on and completely topless. So I excused myself to the bathroom which was right next door, and it was even more strange hearing them continue the conversation while I tried to quickly undress, take my selfies, and pee. I think it was so weird because two of them have nooo idea what I do and one only knows part of it. But I sent them to Daddy and he told me I only had one more pee for the night. Which wouldn’t have been bad, the night was almost over so technically it would be a new day, but then Daddy told me it was for hiiiis time so suddenly my two hours of with only one pee became five.
The only reason this really stunk was because my friend and I were definitely planning on drinking a lot that night.
So I was gonna need to pee a bunch.
Hmmph 🙇🏼‍♀️
I ended up getting very indecisive about when I wanted to use my last bathroom break. I knew I needed to wait till I really really needed to go so I wouldn’t have to go again before bed. But eventually I asked and was allowed to go about an hour before my friend and I went to bed.
Because she spent the night I wasn’t able to do any of my bedtime things. Its always strange now not sleeping with a crotch rope and a plug.
The next morning as my friend was leaving Daddy told me he had something to tell me that would make me feel veryyy little. I really had no idea what he was going to tell me but I was excited. Until he told me to get all my sad and mad emojis ready. And then Daddy told me that he came 3 times the day beforeeeeee. Ughhhdfhaskdsjf no fair😩😩😩. But I made the mistake of rolling my eyes at Daddy, and if I wasn’t feeling little before I sure was now. Daddy had me pick between getting no coffee today or extra edges. After thinking about it for a second I picked extra edges. I ended up with 10 extra edges to do with the 50. Directly after that Daddy asked if I had sent him pictures of my bowls that night, and I hadn’t. But that was the day Daddy left for his trip so either he forgot by the time the trip was over, or let it slide…? I dunno but maybe I’ll find out hehe 😜
Anyways, Daddy left and drove for five hours, and I did some actual work for the first time in forever. And once I got home I got a really pretty picture from Daddy from where he was fly fishing😋. Daddy had me show him position four and I finally got started on my edges for the day, and Daddy explained how he didn’t have wifi at his hotel, and we went over the schedule he made for me for the next day – which I was really excited for.
We talked for awhile about pretty normal things and then started talking about how long it had been since my last orgasm. And Daddy brought up the idea of letting me cum… but on the other doms birthday😨. When Daddy said that I thought back to a couple nights ago when both Daddy and the other sub came to ask me what they should do for her birthday and oh my god her birthday is in July 😩😩😩, and as of then it was still barely June. It would be an additional 30 days, on top of the 15 I’d already done. I sent Daddy a video and a selfie showing him how upset I wassss. I was absolutely devestateddd because he’d kept talking about it recently so I figured it was going to come any time soon and I just 😩🙇🏼‍♀️🥺🙅🏼‍♀️
Daddy had me make a new box rule, saying I couldn’t cum till her birthday. I made one that was pretty generic, it had a little cake on it, and Daddy asked me to add a new Zealand flag or a kiwi because she’s from new Zealand, so I just drew a whole new one. It was fun, and I think it turned out really cute hehe despite ya know… the rule that it is. I can’t believe I’m going to go ove a month without an orgasm. I have never done that, and never done it while edging the way I am. 50 edges every day is starting to seem normal now 😅
One really good thing did come out of this though, Daddy said that Toothless could come out of the box for good🥰🥰🥰🥰!!! And I can’t even say how happy I was, finally all my stuffies were back together and I can snuggle with them in a big pile whenever I want. 😋❤️😋❤️
Daddy eventually went back inside where he didn’t have service, so I finished my 50 edges and tied my rope and sent my goondnight video.
The next day I was pretty much on my own, which was ok because I had a whole list of tasks to get done that was easily gonna occupy 5 or 6 hours of my time. Daddy and I chatted for a little bit in the morning and then he got started with his day, and I got started with my hour of clamps. Thankfully I got to use my nice clamps, so these ones didn’t feel so bad for the first 30 or 40 minutes, but the last ten were pretty brutal. But it’s always nice that I can play games to keep my mind off it (although it really doesn’t do a great job of it hehe). I yoinked em off and sent a video to Daddy, and got ready to start 20 minutes of my corner time. I started my timer and maaaan was it hard to self regulate my corner time. Having no one there to watch me makes it really difficult to sit still and not talk and check my phone. So of course… I checked the timer. Oops 😬 . It wasn’t even worth it because it just made me want to keep checking it, but for the rest of the time I stayed and sat in the corner like a good girl. I told Daddy about me peaking because I knew he’d want to know, and set off to do my workout. This time an hour long, I pretty much just extended and added a few more exercises to stretch my workout.
I liked that I had so much to do, because I knew I couldn’t mess around and procrastinate it all. Everything was very timed and precise I had to spend an hour doing set tasks so I knew there was no way to jam it all in at the end of the night.
After taking a needed shower, I hopped on Omelge, to find some people to talk to for 20 minutes. I like going on Omegle but it’s always so hard for me to decide who to chat with and who to pass up. So I talked with a few guys before they just started bossing me around, and then settled on another guy who was a little more vanilla but wanted to play truth or dare with me. I figured that would be pretty fun, so I stuck around. He asked me questions about my sexual fantasies, and I asked him about the craziest things he’d done (which he replied anal so like ya know). He was very shocked by my answers heheh, but for dares, I knew I had to be nice to him cause he was not as experienced so I had dared him to just stand up and give me a twirl, and I dared him to write something naughty on him somewhere (lick my dick on his thigh I think he wrote), and after he dared me to take my shirt off I dared him to take his off too. He also dared me to flash him, pinch my nipples really hard for him, and show him all my toys. It was a fun lil game 😋
Art time was fun as usual, I spent an hour finishing up a commission of my friends dog for her, and sent that along to Daddy.
Another 20 minutes of corner time, this time no peaking at the timer.
And then started my edges. By this time it was nearing the end of the day for me, and Daddy was starting his drive home. I gave him the recap on my day, and started finishing up my edges again.
Then finally, to top it all off I finished my last 20 minutes of corner time like a good girl for a total of a whole hour of corner time that day. Daddy made me feel pretty proud of myself for getting everything done, but then mentioned that maybe I should redo my corner time from earlier. And maaaannn I didn’t want tooooo. I’d already done an hourrr and sitting there for 20 minutes with nothing after doing it so much is so haaaaaarrrdd 🥺🥺. So I definitely got a lil bratty with Daddy, and to my surpriseeee… it worked. Huh. Didn’t know that would happen. I know Daddy likes a little brattiness hehe so sometimes I don’t hold back, but I’m always a lil nervous about the punishment that might come from it hehe. Daddy doesn’t know how many times I’ve deleted and changed my mind about very sassy comments 😅
But eventually Daddy got home and I teased him about how he still had to unpack his car and that I couldn’t help him. And eventually I made my way to bed and got all my bed things ready and sent my goodnight video to Daddy all nice and tucked in.
Until next time 😋😋😋
