A short list of things I would have changed in HoO

It takes place ten ish years after the end of PJO. Percy and Annabeth aren’t a part of the seven but instead appear as cool older mentors to help out the Lost Hero trio. They both have careers and live in New York and go to Sally’s house for dinner every weekend.

Caleo isn’t a thing. In fact, let’s not even mention Calypso. At most we mention she was freed after the last war as idk proof demigods have some power or something.

More than 1 Asian character. Give this one ADHD and dyslexia bc shocker Asian kids can be disabled as well.

For that matter a properly disabled character. I have a deaf OC I would use if I rewrote the series.

Leo is aroace. His arc is about learning that his self worth doesn’t have to be tied to the people around him and his friends love and care about him and he doesn’t need romance to be complete. His flirting is overcompensation bc he doesn’t feel romantic or sexual attraction and is afraid he’ll be alone forever.

Drew and Piper become friends. Drew’s mean girl bullshit is outdated and boring and it would have been a lot cooler to see her icy exterior thaw and her help Piper with her charmspeck (explaining how Piper learned how to use it to begin with) and take on an older sister role

Neither Leo nor Piper become head councilors to their cabins because that’s dumb

Keep the chapter title style from PJO. It was so fun and one of the highlights of the series for me. The relatable nature of PJO in general was kinda lost in HoO and it’s a shame bc there was such a variety of characters for people to identify with there.

Give Reyna a girlfriend or at least a homoerotic friendship that can become an actual relationship in the next series or something

Frank is 14 and he and Hazel aren’t dating, they just have mutual baby crushes on one another.

For that matter what the fuck was ‘Frank is magically not fat due to Mars’s blessing’ bullshit? Frank is a fat character who stays fat but learns to be confident in himself and his body type.

Stop The Adultification of Hazel 2k23. Hazel is 13, she’s the youngest member of the seven and despite her trauma I think that should be obvious. I think emphasizing her relationship with Nico could be fun here - he’s in his 20s so him taking a more ‘that older sibling who toes the line between parent and sibling’ role here could be fun.

Also, I don’t want Hazel to have Hecate’s blessing or whatever. Between her being a magical horsegirl and the daughter of Pluto there’s already a lot of room to expand on her powers that was never used - I think doing more with her cursed jewels and metals powers and her learning the other aspects of her powers, like Shadow Travel, would be fun.

Instead I think having a daughter of Hecate as a part of the Seven would be cool, because we could still have a witchy character with mist manipulation and magic powers.

Give Jason an actual personality, please. Bro’s been a child solider practically since age 2 and has spent his whole life with the weight of other teenagers’ lives on his shoulders as praetor - give him perfectionism issues and anxiety. We’re told that he’s spent his whole life helping others compromise instead of being his own person - show that. Let his arc end with him deciding to try and live a mortal life and find out who he is beyond being a war general.

Show us that Octavian’s a piece of shit, don’t just tell us.

Leo and Piper are the ones who fall into Tartarus. Nothing romantic ever happens but we get heavy emphasis on their friendship and we get to see their grief over Leo’s mom and Piper’s grandfather respectively

Piper’s grandfather has died a few months ago and she cut her hair herself when her dad didn’t want to let her due to that (correct me if I’m wrong but it’s a tradition in Cherokee culture to cut your hair when a loved one dies, correct?), which is why it’s all uneven. A lot of her insecurities stem from going from growing up in rural Oklaholma (not in a reservation bc there aren’t any there) without much money to suddenly being catapulted into a millionaire Hollywood lifestyle and having everyone criticize everything about her and be really racist, all while her Dad drew farther away from both her and her grandfather. Her arc would be reconnecting with both her culture and Dad and learning to find who she is and her self worth again.

They defeat Gaea in a way that isn’t so anticlimactic and fucking stupid

☀︎ A sweetheart! He’s always excited to meet someone new. Especially if they’re a new friend!!

☀︎ He can never stay still ever, he always has to be doing something with his hands or feet, wether it’s swaying or flapping his hands in a happy stim!

☀︎ He tends to interrupt really easily, ESPECIALLY when he gets excited. Sometimes the adults get mad though, so he’s learned to hold himself back.

☀︎ He adores children, he always tries to find a way to make them feel comfy in the daycare. ESPECIALLY if the kid is scared of him at first. He knows he’s not for everyone though, so if his advances don’t work he watches from afar and places the kid’s favorite things near them strategically so that they’re still having a good time.

☀︎ ADHD

☀︎ Can a robot have Adhd?? I’m not sure but he’s got Adhd in my mind bc I have Adhd and I said so. He’s sooo ADHD coded.

☀︎ This man cannot sing for the life of him, he’s got a cute tune or two for clean up time when the kids have to clean their area but that’s it. If he tries to sing like the Glamrocks it sounds more like a parrot dying or something TwT

Moon:

☾ He’s actually a chill guy. Introvert, and super shy when meeting new ppl.

☾ He’s less shy around kids though, he adores kids too.

☾ Super gentle and soft spoken. I guess it’s the nap time programming in him.

☾ A great listener, will never interrupt anyone when speaking.

☾ He likes to be suspended in the air by his wire. It’s where he’s most comfortable rather than being on the ground like Sun. He’s great at moving around in the air and sometimes does cool acrobatic tricks when he’s got free time.

☾ A stickler to the rules, well, to be fair they both are but Moon is more strict about them. He is a rule enforcer after all.

Virus! Moon:

☽ This dude is a menace. He will scare the security guards and fazbear workers on purpose. Just because.

☽ Violent toward adults. Children are sometimes the exception but if you’re a rule breaker he’s putting you in… an eternal nap if you know what I mean….

☽ Anger issues. Which often lead to those violent outbursts. It started with nap time, when some kids would refuse to sleep, he would enforce the rules. After many complaints of kids getting nightmares and some even disappearing mysteriously, Fazbear entertainment decided to just stop nap time all together.

☽ Clean freak. Probably worse than Sun tbh. He HAS to clean up. Seriously, why are kids so messy? He’s still gotta put them in time out but he HAS to make sure to clean up that tower that kid just knocked down or he’ll go CRAZY.

☽ If he sees Monty it’s on sight. They’ve had beef ever since he got in the way during one of his security patrols.

☽ No seriously, like imagine two animatronics with anger issues. It will not end well.

Eclipse:

☾☼ Ambivert, can be super social sometimes and super quiet the next.

☾☼ Soft spoken and very polite, he never interrupts when someone is speaking.

☾☼ He’s very attentive to his surroundings and extremely perceptive. If something’s wrong he’ll be the first to figure it out.

☾☼ Loves singing and he can actually sing, but he prefers slower melodies than those that the Glamrocks sing. Something in between a lullaby and a ballad.

☾☼ Hopeless romantic, his guilty pleasure is watching sappy romcoms. But shhh! Don’t tell anyone!

☾☼ He, like his other counterparts, also adores children. He’s great at handling both playtime and nap time. The perfect combination of both.

☾☼ He gets lonely. Like really lonely. He tries to be optimistic but the reality always crashes in late at night. It gets even worse after RUIN. The kids will eventually come back… right?

☾☼ He also has security protocols and can be extremely protective of those he deeply cares for, especially children.

What do you think Kurapika’s love language(s) is/are? He’s a thoughtful dude, so I feel like gift giving is his time to shine, but at the same time acts of service when you’re overworking yourself- ugh he’s such a sweetheart lich rally the perfect man 😫💗

My own bf just snagged me a record player at a garage sale yesterday after years of having his own record collection and begging me to start one as well. The first thing I did was order Hozier’s new album. I could see Kurapika doing something similar, especially with how they both share an mbti type :’) cozy nights spent listening to vinyl music. He gets a gift that you’d love, not expect, and could enjoy for a long time together. He checks off the Perfect Gift Trifecta every time.

I’m all over the place here, it’s earlier than I normally wake up and my ADHD meds haven’t quite kicked in yet I apologize. Brainstorming with you and helping on Fixer Upper has been the highlight of my summer, seeing ideas we collaborate on come to life in real time is just *chefs kiss*

How Kurapika shows his love:

Acts of service

Kurapika hasn’t always been there for you when you really needed him, meaning now that he is, he would do next to anything for you. He’ll run to the store to grab your favorite snacks when you aren’t feeling well, gently massages all your sore spots, accompanies you on shopping trips.

He wants to do things for you, even if it’s as simple as opening a jar of pickles, he feels so in love when he’s able to do little things that are of service to you.

Gift Giving

Kurapika is a gift giver, through and through. He has trouble holding himself back from buying every little thing that reminds him of you. That keychain with your favorite character on it, those shoes that would go nice with your favorite dress, and flowers of all kinds.

He also enjoys making you gifts, mostly consisting of clothing. He’s really good at sewing, and you taught him to knit, so he’s always making you new dresses that fit you perfectly. He’s weak for a good sundress, and when you’re wearing something he made you it’s hard for him to keep his hands to himself.

Words of Affirmation

Kurapika wants you to know how much he adores you, so compliments and little words of adoration are commonplace in your shared home.

It’s like he can’t go one second without telling you how amazing you are, and how in love with you he is. You’re his angel, his princess, the love of his life. He’ll plant kisses on your neck as he coos about how beautiful you are.

What he wants from his partner:

Physical Touch

As I’ve said before, Kurapika is TOUCH STARVED!! Before you, he hadn’t been held by another person since he was a child, so once he gets a taste of your touch he craves it.

His favorite thing is to lay his head in your lap, face buried in your tummy as you run your fingers through his hair. Kurapika could stay like this forever if you let him.

When he gets you pregnant, all he wants is to nuzzle against your baby bump, leaving kisses against your skin. He loves you so much!

He also enjoys just being held in your arms, with you rubbing soothing circles into his back. Kurapika can be a bit of a clinger once he gets comfortable around you, so he prepared!

Quality Time

Once Kurapika comes around to his feelings for you, all he wants is to spend more and more time with you. He needs you to hold him, to want to do fun things with HIM!

His favorite thing is when you have him sit at the kitchen table while you bake, feeding him bits of frosting or jam. He also likes cuddling up with you on the couch, watching some random movie. He enjoys accompanying anywhere you wish to go, as long as he gets to spend time with you he’s happy!

Words of Affirmation

It may not seem like it, but Kurapika is actually pretty insecure about his body. He struggles with believing you’re attracted to him, even if you’re always heating up when he’s around you.

Praise him, tell him how pretty and handsome he is. He needs to know you find him attractive. There are many other men in your life that he thinks look way better than him, so reassure him that he’s the only one for you. It makes him swoon!

Do not take this the wrong way but what is Tomdayas and Tom stans problem with Timothee it’s honestly weird. They get mad and hate on Tim and Z’s friendship and when stans post about it saying it’s not real and they are playing it up. But Tomdayas can say stuff like loving Claire and tuwaine’s friendship when Z’s mom is for sure not friends with him although I’m sure they are cool and cordial. It’s just gives off the vibe Z can’t have male friends or anyone one of the opposite sex around her unless she knows them through Tom and it’s weird.

Idk I just think it’s funny the same way tondayas say people are doing too just h abkut tim and Z’s friendship when I mean they gotta be cool if they was shopping for his apartment and she helped him clean it up. But it’s just shows how Tom stans get offended on his behalf and how poorly they think of Z. Because what’s the problem with her having a male friend. Stop worrying about the weirdos that purposely ship then to get a ride of Tomdayas and understand Z is allowed to have a life outside of Tom and that includes friends of the opposite sex.

Do not take this the wrong way but what is Tomdayas and Tom stans problem with Timothee it’s honestly weird.

Most Tomdaya fans I know don't necessarily have a problem with Timmy. They have a problem with Timdaya stans or Timothee STANS. Even if some Tomdaya stans DON'T like Timmy, it's more so because Timdaya stans are annoying, and/or Timmy stans can be insufferable and view him as superior to every other actor out here in his age bracket. Second, why are you all always posting about Timmy and Z's "friendship", which is something you barely even rarely see unless they're filming or promoting Dune together? This "friendship" thing just sounds like another sly way for Timdaya stans to try to ship Z with Tim on the down low, and many Tomdaya fans see right through it. 😒

Also, Timmy and Z might be "industry friends", but even they don't seem to be "besties" like you all think. So a lot of the Timdaya "friendship" is OVERhyped, for sure imo. 🤷🏾‍♀️

But Tomdayas can say stuff like loving Claire and tuwaine’s friendship when Z’s mom is for sure not friends with him although I’m sure they are cool and cordial.

In fact, I'd even venture to say that nooobody had an issue with Timmy when Z was dating JE, and Z and Timmy were both spotted in that Bed Bath & Beyond together in NYC. Literally NOBODY made a fuss about that. Most people weren't shipping them during that time. Gee...wonder why...😒

Anyway, Idk why some of you all can't see that Timmy and Z are in two totally different stages of their lives rn. Z is practically engaged to Tom......Timmy's been living the single "Bachelor Life" for years. Nothing wrong with that at all, but it's just facts. Call me when Timmy has had a relationship with a woman that actually lasts longer than 2 years before you even think to be shipping Z with him lol. 😅

Believe me Anon....NOBODY in Tomdaya World is threatened by Timmy or worried for Tom's sake. Zendaya loves Tom to death. Everyone with a pair of EYES can see that.

At first, he avoided you.

It wasn’t anything necessarily against you. Well, at least he didn’t think so. He just didn’t think he could handle your random energy. He already dealt with his brothers and he did not need an extra pest added to his list of people he interacts with everyday.

He didn’t like random.

But you two actually ended up meshing very well together. Being forced into several life or death situations together probably helped you two bond.

He helps you focus and you help him have more fun. It was a different kind of fun than what he and his brothers get into. Yours involves a lot less fighting and more ice cream.

You brought him out of the lair a lot more than he was used to. You found safe areas for you two to hang out without a lot of people so he’s not as stressed. So, when he’s not working in his lab or taking down criminal mutants, he’s with you somewhere out in New York City.

He once allowed you to drive the Turtle Tank to go to your hang out spot. You had been trying to keep it a surprise so you agreed. It was a horrible idea. You never even made it there. He never let that incident go either.

He’s usually the only one able to reel you back in when you go on unrelated tangents. He’s so fluid with how he ties wherever your head’s at back to the previous topic that you have no idea what he’s doing.

You also give him ideas on what to do next when he’s bored and out of ideas. It’s usually a needle in the hay stack sort of deal. Your ideas are mostly too crazy and needless. But sometimes he’ll even do those types of ideas just for fun and to see you smile.

He’s super good at keeping you busy when you’re bored. Whether it’s with you helping him or you messing around in his lab as he has many things in his lab that can act as fidget toys. You could hang in there for hours while messing with those. Not that he wants your company or anything. Not that he skillfully placed them all around the lab so they were easily accessible.

You two have weekly rituals of Just Dance. You have once gotten in a physical fight over it. Maybe twice.

You love to hug him. He… just stands there and takes it. He’s grown used to it, not so used to it that he goes out and seeks it, but… he’ll pat you on the shoulder and that’s that.

You’re also really good in fights with him. Whenever he’s struggling to one up an enemy, you can run in and cause a disaster so he can finally get a few more openings for more powerful hits.

this is kinda a more headcannon-y sort of vibe, but this is what i wrote before if you wanted more plot!

Akari doesn’t get annoyed with him.

It’s something that hits Ash one day while traveling, suddenly and unexpectedly. They’re closing in on Nimbasa City, rushing slightly to make it to civilization at long last after trekking through nature, and Ash realizes for the first time that while all of his travel companions in the past have gotten annoyed with him at some point, Akari never does. Even when he’s pretty sure he deserves it.

He doesn’t always think before he does things. He sometimes can’t word things the way he wants to. He gets impatient and can be irrational at times. It takes a really long time for lessons to stick in his head, too.

Akari never seems to mind.

It’s really strange, when he thinks about it. Because, well, he’s seen Akari get upset. She gets angry and impatient and frustrated just like anyone else. She gets downright mean when Trip is around. She very nearly loses her cool every time Bianca is within a 20 foot radius. Iris and Cilan had to hold her back from physically engaging Burgundy in an actual fistfight, once.

He’s confused. And grateful, of course, but also confused.

“Hey, Akari?”

Akari, who’s been smiling strangely ever since they boarded the subway towards the Pokémon Center, turned away from Cilan, who was gushing and clearly embarrassing himself in public. Unlike Iris, she seemed to find his behavior amusing more than anything else.

“Yeah?”

Now or never, he supposed.

“So, like... You know how sometimes I can’t, uh, remember things? Like, type weaknesses and immunities and stuff. Or genders. That sort of thing? How come you don’t get like... mad at me?”

Akari frowns.

“You mean your ADHD? Ash, I’m not gonna blame you for something you can’t control. You just learn differently from others. You get things eventually, so what’s the problem in letting you go at your own pace?”

Ash blinks.

“My AD-what?”

Akari blinks back.

“... Your ADHD?”

They stare at each other for a few moments. Akari seems to come to a realization, eyes going wide in understanding, but before anything else is said between them, the train comes to an abrupt halt.

“Akari!”

Ash watches as the Subway Bosses immediately go to squeeze Akari like a grape between their arms. She’s smiling wide even as she gets lifted off the ground, wrapping her arms around each of their necks and giving them both a peck on the cheek.

“Hey, dads. I see you missed me.”

Cilan loses his cool, then. Unlike him, Ash is less surprised by who her dads are, and more surprised that her dads are brothers. She certainly never mentioned that. Then again, unless directly asked, she tends to just not say anything about herself in general, so they probably shouldn’t be too shocked. The most she ever says are vague references to things she’s done or stuff that’s happened to her, and no elaboration.

The twins turn to look at the rest of them.

“Might these be the friends you spoke so highly of, Akari?”

“Just a moment, Emmet, I believe I recognize one of these passengers!”

“Hmmm? Oh, I believe you are right, Ingo! Cilan, it is good to see you again!”

In the end, Akari stays behind to hang out with her fathers, who apparently fought for parental rights over her and settled for dual-custody. (Ash can understand that. Who wouldn’t want to have Akari as their daughter? She’s awesome.) Ash, Iris, and Cilan were dragged to the Pokémon Center soon after.

Ash promptly forgets about his previous conversation with Akari.

It’s days later when Ash remembers what Akari said their first time on the subway. Lots of things have happened at that point. The ghost train, Bianca’s father trying to stop her journey, Ash winning his gym battle against Elesa.

It was Akari’s turn to battle Elesa, this time. And, as always, Ash can’t help but admire her battle prowess. She only ever uses the Pokémon she befriended on her current journey, rather than the army of buddies she got from wherever she used to live. Still, the difference in strength between the two teams seems to close rapidly every time she battles. Her strategy looks simple from the outside, hit hard and fast and don’t let up. But every move she makes is calculated. The snap of her fingers or clap of her hands indicated how the moves are supposed to be used. She predicts the opponent’s thoughts and adjusts accordingly. She’s aware of everything on the field, of everyone’s position, the terrain, the obstacles.

She looks like a Pokémon Master, in Ash’s eyes. At least, one in the making, that’s for sure. There’s something in her gaze when she battles, something that isn’t seen in her at any other time. Intense and vicious, studying and understanding.

Ash learns more from watching Akari battle than possibly any other battles he’s seen. It’s so easy for him to focus on every decision she makes, and unlike others, he can actually follow the train of thought that led her to her decisions. There’s a similarity in their way of thinking that Ash doesn’t feel with a lot of his other friends.

And it’s that thought, the similarities in their way of thinking, that gets Ash remembering.

AD-something something? Learn differently from others? Whatever she was talking about then, it seemed kind of important in some way. And not just important, either. She talked as if she had experience with Ash’s specific brand of... absentmindedness. Which is strange, because, well...

She’s amazing.

Akari naturally wins the battle and earns her badge. Nobody expected differently, honestly. Elesa least of all, considering she’s apparently known Akari since her adoption. Akari is amazing at what she does. Her battling is a perfected art. Her understanding of people and Pokémon is uncanny. And her intelligence is unparalleled. She just knows things. She knows when Team Rocket is around before anyone else. She knows instinctually when something is about to happen, whether that may be good or bad. She knows what moves her opponents are going to make, knows what to do in order to counter them.

Akari doesn’t have difficulty understanding or learning new things like Ash, as far as he could tell. She soaks up information like a sponge, seeks out knowledge and digs her claws into whatever she may find. She’s just smart like that. It’s natural.

So why was she so understanding over Ash’s... everything? Is she just kind like that? Patient? Patient isn’t a word anyone would typically use for her, but maybe she is when it concerns her friends.

When they return to the Pokémon Center, Ash takes some time to himself to do some research.

He doesn’t fully remember the acronym, but typing ADD gives him a result.

It’s a disorder. An attention disorder. The research isn’t too vast, most people tend to look at other studies when getting into science. But there’s enough that Ash can read through a list of symptoms and realize that it fits.

And Akari recognized it quickly enough that she thought it was obvious. That he would naturally know about it.

He logs off the computer and goes to get changed. He’s quiet.

It’s midnight and everyone is asleep except for Ash. The knowledge that there’s a label out there that explains... so much about him and his personality, he doesn’t know exactly how he should feel about it.

Pikachu is sound asleep on a pillow beside his head. He takes extra care when crawling out of the covers, doing his best not to disturb his buddy. Once free, he crouches on the ground and slowly waddles his way toward’s Akari’s bed.

There’s a frown in her expression while she’s sleeping. Her eyes are darting to and fro behind her eyelids. Ash is struck with the realization that she may have silent nightmares. From what little he’s gleaned about her past, that... yeah, that makes sense.

“Akari?”

His whisper is soft, but it’s enough to wake her up almost immediately. A light sleeper, as always. She seems so used to sleeping out in the wild, but any small noise that seems too close tends to jolt her awake.

“Ash?” Akari squints at him, voice gravelly with sleep. “Why are you peeking over the side of my bed like a stalker?”

Ash splutters. Akari grins and he realizes that she was messing with him again.

“I’m not a stalker,” Ash grumbles. “I just... Remember when you said I had, uh. ADHD?”

Akari’s eyes light up in recognition.

“Oh. I can’t believe I forgot about that.” She stifles a yawn, slowly sitting up and scooting aside. She pats the empty space she left behind, and Ash scrambles to make himself comfortable beside her. “I’m guessing you didn’t know what that was, right?”

“I kind of do, now,” Ash admits. Akari pulls the covers over him, and it makes him feel small and vulnerable. Sometimes, she treats him a lot like a younger sibling, but not in the same way that Misty’s sisters treat her, or how May would treat Max. Sometimes it’s strange, but Ash can’t deny that he enjoys the feeling. “I checked it up before changing. There wasn’t a lot about it, but what I saw... I think it fit me?”

Akari hums, and lazily throws an arm out to wrap around Ash and pat his back. She’s very casual in showing physical affection, which is something Ash appreciates and seeks out with little to no shame. He shuffles closer and wraps his own arm around her.

“Yeah, I guess it wouldn’t be well known when there’s other things to research like Pokémon and literal human psychics.” Akari huffs, tucking Ash’s head under her chin. “Feels weird, huh?”

Ash hums in agreement. He’s beginning to feel tired, now. Being held like this, safe and secure, tends to beat out the worst of insomnia no matter how anxious or agitated he gets.

“Yeah. I never got officially diagnosed, but I think I have it too. Or something similar to it.” Akari sighs, rubbing circles along Ash’s back. “I can’t focus on things I don’t have interest in. I’m lucky in some aspects, because the things I do have interest in are things people think are important to know, right? Like. Pokémon. I love them. I want to know absolutely everything about them. I’ll focus so hard on learning about them that I’ll tune out everything.”

“I thought ADHD means you can’t focus, though?”

“Not quite,” Akari murmurs. “ADHD isn’t that you can’t focus on anything at all. It’s more like you can’t control your focus, I guess. Sometimes that means you can focus too hard on things. Like, remember when I was reading that book on historical legends while we were traveling? Cilan called my name like ten times and I still didn’t hear him because I was too focused. Ended up smacking into a tree. You get like that sometimes when it comes to Pokémon or battling, I think. It’s easy to forget about or not even listen to things we’re not interested in, right? But it’s different for things we’re passionate about.”

True. Very true. Battling and Pokémon were just so... fun. Interesting and amazing. It’s the only thing he wants to think about a lot of the time. Other stuff, though, feels more like a bunch of fuzzy stuff that he needs to shake out of his head, even though they should be considered important.

“So,” Ash whispers. “Is that why you don’t get annoyed with me when I can’t get things? Because you get like that too?”

“Huh? Oh,” Akari snorts. “Nah, people with ADHD can get annoyed with other people with ADHD, Ash. I just don’t get annoyed because I like you and consider you like a little brother.”

She leans back, giving him a full view of her mischievous grin.

“Even when you do stupid stuff, it’s very cute!”

Ash groans, face burning, and kicks her. She responds by tickling him in the sides, causing him to shriek, push back, and fall off the bed.

Iris and Cilan aren’t too happy about being woken up. Doesn’t stop Ash and Akari from laughing, anyways.

I cried while brainstorming a chapter for my epilogue

!!Spoilers for “No Surprises” ahead!!

There are times that I’ve cried writing or coming up with ideas for my fanfiction. It’s a really sad story, and normally it doesn’t get to me.

But, Kanna will die. There’s nothing anyone could’ve done to change it. That’s why it’s called “No Surprises”. I’m telling you guys how it ends. The real story is their journey together. The bittersweet moments, the awkward, uncomfortable moments, the traumatic moments.

That’s the whole point. It’s a broken road of memories they shared together: both good times and bad. Insignificant and nostalgic.

Despite all his medical expertise, growth, despite it all, he couldn’t save her. He never ever will forgive himself for his recklessness. He blames himself everyday.

So imagine three years following the fanfic:

Law is now a “single dad” navigating parenthood to his almost 5 year old daughter, Taiga, who knows nothing about her mom.

Law hates thinking about her sometimes. It hurts. He feels like he’s going through the motions sometimes. It’s too quiet without her.

It’s not right.

And here’s taiga, this ADHD ball of sunshine tiger/Luffy character who loves her dad and wants to know about her mom. She believes deep down that she’s alive and carries around a photo of her.

One late night,

She tries sneaking out to find her, only to be caught at by Law.

“Where have you been! You foolish girl, you can’t ever do that again!”

“I went to go find mommy!! She’s here, I know it-“

They argue. Law keeps his cool, but thinking about Kanna makes him more and more emotional.

He loses his temper finally.

It escalates, and Law snaps at her,

“ENOUGH! I’ve had it with you! Mom’s gone! I watched her die!!”

His words catch in his throat, and he lets out a deep and frustrated exhale,

“…go to your room, right now.” He glares at her.

Taiga’s eyes well at his words, her lips quiver as she puts on her bravest face,

“I hate you daddy!! You’re the meanest worst dad ever!! Mom loved you and you’re just a monster!! I wish you weren’t my dad!!”

She slams the door littered with “Trafalgar Tiger!!” “Beware of tiger!!” “No Dads allowed” posters on her door and slams it shut, hugging the snow leopard plush Law gave her and crying.

She was six years old.

Law knocks on her door, gently apologizing and sitting down on her bed.

This tall, 191 cm stoic dad with his small, energetic daughter, who’s scowling at him.

But, putting myself in the mind of a six year old who’s convinced that her mom might still be alive and single dad Trafalgar Law having to tell her no hurts like crazy.

It’s heartbreaking.

I cried brainstorming this scene. The tension, imagining how a dad might yell at his daughter, is just heartbreaking.

“I shouldn’t have snapped at you. You’re too young to hear those kinds of things. I hurt you deeply, and I’m sorry.”

He notices her wet cheeks and tear stained pillow as he puts his hand on her head.

“I don’t expect your forgiveness, but I don’t want any hatred or resentment to come of this. Can you promise me that, Taiga-ya?”

Taiga tearfully nods.

And at the end of it, he cuddles her until she falls asleep against his chest.

“I don’t hate mom, Taiga-ya. I love her. I would do anything in the world to have her back. But she’s gone. She’s watching over you everyday, and she loves you just as much as I do.”

“I know you miss her. But I promise you, that I never stopped loving her, just as I never stopped loving you, okay?”

I’m getting teary eyed just typing this out.

I love Law so much. He’s such an interesting character to work with, and it’s even better when you don’t try to pry into his mind. Just keeping it brief and vague as he would.

So the epilogue, “Speak Now”, is going to be really interesting when it comes to him being more of a minor character, given the canon story and fanfic.

not brushing my hair till its perfectly untangled and just letting it be a bit wild - this came with me figuring out that my hair type is waywayway wavier/curlier than i thought my whole life and learning to take care of it the best i can whilst i have like zero products for waves/curls on hand and as a bonus i felt more masc !!

looking at the stretch marks underneath my boobs in the mirror. i have a large-ish chest i think (DD cup), plus i’m a lil chubby, so i have loads of stretch marks around my chest, and the ones underneath look like top surgery scars, so if i’m having a particularly rough day with my chest dysphoria i’ll look at em and feel a bit better

using my stim toys and accommodations with friends and by myself for my autism and adhd - being capable of taking care of myself finally makes me feel really confident and as a result quite masc as well

stimming by flipping my beaded bracelets between my fingers - this is specific to greek and possibly other cultures similar to greece but it’s typical for a lot of greek men to flip long-ish beaded loops (?? they’re not jewellery and specifically made for this but idk what they’re called so) between their fingers in a similar fashion, and it’s a thing that my dad does a lot when bored. whether neurodivergent or neurotypical it’s a very common thing for men and so doing it makes me not only feel good stimming but also feel manly as fuck ! it feels even better now that my mum saw me doing it once and said “what are you a man ??” and being closeted i had to say “idc im just flipping a bracelet why does it have to be gendered” BUT INSIDE I WAS SO HAPPY

playing card games - when i was younger and even now my dad and grandpa would let me sit in on their card games late at night when we visited them in greece and now when i play card games i always feel so calm and comforted and quietly masculine

drinkingggg now hear me out yes im a minor but i’m also half greek so as a result whenever my parents drink im allowed a bit too (under supervision ofc). anyway that out the way, i have a pretty fucking high alcohol tolerance and considering the fact that it comes from my dad (being asian, my mum’s tolerance is dogshit) plus the stereotypical “men can drink more” stuff i feel SO MANLYYYY when i can quite literally drink more than my dad and feel okay whilst he’s starting to be tipsy (just to clarify though, the stereotype is bullshit and should NOT be perpetuated as much as it is, at least with intent. you guys with low alcohol tolerances are just as manly !! maybe you’re even more manly than those with high tolerance !! and women with high tolerances, you’re still very fem and very cool and valid as a woman and those who aren’t binary or aligning you are valid as your gender or as no gender no matter what tolerance you have <33)

caring about myself more. and i don’t mean in a “i’m gonna have a nice fucking bath and be happy about it” way i mean in a “i’m going to feed myself well, drink lots of water, get good exercise and be respectful to myself at the very least” way. and also in the bath way. baths are nice

Nark <3 one of my original ships and one I’ve been thinking about a lot this weekend. The PEAK of adhd boyfriend/autism boyfriend in my mind. As I said the other day - I love them as established but ambiguous. No one knows what their relationship is, least of all them, but it has been going on for years. I find them really interesting but I don’t tend to agree with some of the like, I dunno, trademark features of popular Nark dynamics? I think Nicky is the type to do anything to get approval from those who cares about, way more so than I’ve seen some people give him credit for (more, maybe they give him too much credit? Wording LOL), and I think Lark feels intense guilt for the mere act of existing, and I think these two characteristics are SO fun to throw up against each other. Also I know Nicky is a cool alt demon boy when they’re teens, but he’s still a cop’s son and I LOOOVE that in contrast to Lark’s hot-to-those-in-his-age-group brooding and general delinquency vibes (ie (our only real example) swapping places with his twin so he can risk his life LMAO). GOD SORRY IM RAMBLING ABOUT NARK NOW I like them. A lot

In contrast to Nark, I think the general consensus on Lovesong is awesome. Sparrow and Nicky liked each other so much as teenagers, they were an adorable T4T couple, they’re adhd boyfriend/autism girlfriend, and now they’re the worlds messiest exes ever and it’s everyone’s problem <3 ohhh sword to throat scene, you will ALWAYS be famous. I also love them with a dynamic of like… Sparrow being much more confident around Nicky, but struggling a lot in general social interactions. Something about her blossoming and opening up when around Nicky in particular, and maybe neither of them even notice at first… but then one day it clicks. They’re just SO comfortable around each other and I love thinking about like. The details of how that relationship dissolves, and how much worse it must have made the betrayal. Their current antagonism is made so so so interesting, especially when Sparrow is such a pushover to everyone BUT Nicky… OUGH. LOVE THEM!!!! (do you guys like how I automatically trans fem Sparrow in Lovesong settings specifically LMAO)

Oakworthy is another one I’ve talked about at length. They are two bugs I am raising in captivity together and they keep trying to each other, so I have to separate them, but I put them back together anyways. Because thIS IS HOW OAKWORTHY CAN STILL WIN-!! I love these two, fully immersed in the fantasy that they’re going to fix things and get together in the end. I think the fact that they both have such strong identity issues but in different ways - Hermie has no idea who he truly is and tries on a million masks to compensate, while Normal tries so desperately to be someone else but his true identity always shows in the end - makes for a REEEALLY interesting dynamic. They both try so hard to be who the other person wants, and fail to realize that what the other wants is for them to be themselves. Makes me crazy

AND FINALLY. NORMAL/TAYLOR. Tayloak <3 only something I’ve started thinking about, like… in the past few weeks XD but I think they’re REALLY FUN. Obviously there’s this massive aspect of Normals jealousy of (and over) Taylor, which can be fun to play with in a “do I want him or do I want to be him” way! I think those types of crushes are SO funny in fiction. And also. Once again. They fit the autism x adhd dynamic except this time, they’re both high energy. Tackling as a love language. To me.

Obviously, all of this is just my personal opinion!!! I do not pretend to know these characters better than anybody else (except Jodie.) and this is just my interpretation of these ships :] if people have wildly different opinions I’d love to hear em as well, just be nice LOL

The storyteller

(not a fanfic idea but could be just not intended to be)

You know I really want a story, a book or fanfic, that has many different stories in it. The stories aren’t fairy tales but, uh, how can I explain this…..They’re horror stories with death and murder. But the thing is that in every single story the killer is never really described that much. In each story before the person is killed by the unknown killer they let a small detail about them. For example….

“A tall figure rose from out of the shadows but was still enveloped in the darkness of the night.”

Like that, now in one story we know the killer is tall. Maybe in another they say about a mark they see on their hand or arm.

The whole plot twist, that I really hope you didn’t find out. Is that the many of the stories are connected, same timeline same plot kinda (the person dies, goes missing, lives but is severely traumatized by whatever happened) and is killed by the same person (or traumatized by the same person). It’s only revealed during the last 2-3 stories but again is very small detail.

Once you known about all the stories being connected, the small details of the killer of each story would give you a good idea of who the person looks like.

BUT ANOTHER PLOT TWIST! Once you get all the details of the killer you realize it’s really similar to a character that is present in all the stories.

ONCE AGAIN ANOTHER SURPRISING THING! In each and every story they foreshadow the next story. Another way for the readers who really pay attention to stuff to start getting ideas and more invested into the story. The foreshadowing could be something like…..

“The news in the background played as I did the dishes. I didn’t really pay attention to the story they’re talking about. But I picked up on a few things here and there. It sounds like they are recalling a food due to people getting sick from it.”

The next story could be someone buying their favorite food from a store only for it to get poisoned by the killer.

See? You think I would stop there? Nope!

The motive of the killer is because they’re obsessive with this person (girl or boy) because he/she was kind to them during the time they were going through shitty stuff and also because no one was kind or even friendly to them.

Now would it be cool if the girl/boy was in the first story of the book? Probably in the first story no one dies but it’s just extremely creepy and unsettling somehow.

I don’t know, I swear I’m not writing a book like that. Ok maybe I will one day after I get my life in a good place. The examples where whatever I could think of so I didn’t think much about it.

I called it the story teller because it’s like a person is telling different POV’s of the same story.

I just found out that the type of book I want to read isn’t a thing…..Interconnected short stories are a thing it’s really fudging rare to find an Interconnected short horror stories. If that’s not giving me more motivation to write a book then I don’t know what is.

Please, ADHD and being creative as fuck is not a good idea for me.

Being in college as an introvert AND living in the dorms is both a nightmare and a dream

a dream because i’m away from home and i can be independent

a nightmare because i have a roommate, i am constantly surrounded by people no matter where I am and I have no alone time to myself which i value a lot. Along with my ADHD it is definitely something, I have found ways that have helped me and could potentially help anyone else that deals with this type of problem. Even if it isn’t for college specifically, it’s just some good tips.

• headphones

dude….these are lifesavers. i am always walking around with headphones on or earbuds. i just got me some over the head headphones which are really nice and noise cancel just the right amount that it doesn’t make my head explode and hurt. And does a good job of telling people “i’m busy” and also helps keep me focused whenever i’m doing any work or projects for my classes.

• Calender/notebook planner

OKAY. BEFORE YOU GROAN HEAR ME OUT. I hate planners. like LOATHE THEM. But I wanted to try something new so I would have a spot where I could just slap all my homework and stuff in, I found Notion which is a calendar thingy that you can customize and make it all cool and whatever and there’s templates you can use. i don’t remember which one I used but it’s a plant one that had a bunch of pixel art and was for university.

I like putting in the work to put each and everything in to the calendar as it makes me want to use it more. and I get to look at things i like, for example I had a ghibli themed this past semester which made me happy. And for the new semester I changed it to a Zelda theme. This has made me more motivated to do work as well.

I had everyone tell me “oh use google calendar” NO. no. it’s boring. it looks plain, i need to be looking at things i like and Notion works for me. but I do know some people who just straight up use the Canvas calendar

• boundaries

yep. boundaries. it’s a necessity, I had to learn that very quickly since i am constantly around people. If you are getting fed up with someone. set that boundary. or anything really, set the boundary

sometimes I will go into an empty classroom that i know has no classes going on at the time and i will sit in there and just be alone for a while. it’s a great way to recharge as well as cool off if there’s anything bothering you

•it’s okay to say “no” when you don’t want to go somewhere

this goes along with the boundaries thing but still it’s good advice to learn to stand up for yourself. especially if there is someone who is continually pestering you, or if you have been adopted by an extrovert (luckily for me my college is very small and we are all gamers and nerds so i don’t have that problem as much)

If you have a car, and you become the “chauffeur” (the person who drives around people) for people. you can say no to taking them somewhere. gas prices are expensive and there are times where you are too busy, or even just don’t want to drive. i have plenty of those so i tell them no or give an excuse that i need to work on homework

also you can take advantage of your car and either scream in it, or just sit there and recharge if you have nowhere to go

that’s really all the advice i have for you, or if you know someone who would need it? send it to em or reblog or whatever you want.

things I love about myself: when someone is going through anything or needs help with anything they will call me before anyone else, i have an ugly laugh so guaranteed if i laugh someone else will as well, how much i love animals if i see a stray around my house i will adopt it immediately, if i see a stranger crying in public my eyes will not leave them alone until i get the courage to walk up to them and ask whats wrong, i am very confrontational i will always stand up for whats right no matter how scary the situation may be, how greedy i am for money but when i love someone i will spend the world on them, how excited i get for little things like when someone buys me redbull, monster, cherry pepsi or chocolate pretzels/strawberries my day cant be ruined, how in touch i am with being grateful if someone helps me in anyway or does something in general to benefit me i will never forget it, dont take people for granted, ive been told anytime someone hangs out with me that being with me feels safe and peaceful, I pay attention to the little things, how even though i dont care about plushies i have been given some and i make sure to kiss them all goodnight in case they are actually real and see what happens, if i know someone is having a hard mental health day i will clean for them/ get them icecream and be patient till they are ready to talk about it, without fail a quiet person will always be loud with me, i am the type of person who just wants people i love to be happy even if its not with me, i will always choose them i dont say i love you until i mean it i will celebrate the people i love, i am very observant if i see that someone wants something i will get it for them no matter what, i will make it my mission to compliment a stranger that looks like they are having a hard time so their day is a little better, how i say i hate kids but i will protect them with my life and im so gentle with them, I am not ashamed of what i love like anime for example even though when I was teased for it when I was little i never once hid that i loved it, even if i dont like a song that someone shows me i will be hyper while listening to it so they dont feel small and embarrassed around me, how soft i become when someone holds my hand, even though hugging makes me uncomfortable i will push past that boundary and hug someone with all my heart if they needed it, i love how hardworking i am, whether its how much i love actually working or just getting out of bed knowing how hard my mind is fighting i love how i have gotten up everyday for the past 12 years despite how challenging it is to, i am an emotional person but i will always cry for a sad scene in a movie, if i love you, you'll be seen.

He definitely tries to learn Arabic (he doesn't think he could handle more than that, he already struggles with two 💔)

Too nervous to ask you to teach him so he tries to teach himself

He's overdramatic and traumatized shhh

He tries to splurge on your favorite foods for you, but he's pretty broke so he always feels bad when he can't get you anything

Will definitely try to get you your favorite drinks though <3

He's not as observant as Kaworu, but is always stressing and worrying about your needs so you may have to tell him or signal to him if you're feeling overstimulated, but once he knows he's immediately getting you out of there and comforting you as best he can :3

Your scent is like catnip to him, he loves it

You're his safe space, and he tries to make himself as much of a safe space for you as you are for him<3333
