a blurb I suppose
Nobody really knew you, but soon enough they would. Soon, you would bring life to this empty place, but for now, there was nobody in the library except for you and Geoffrey.
You decided to apply as soon as you heard about the job opening, even though it would mean moving away from your childhood home. You've always been that venturous. And it really was time you started on that 'coming of age' chapter of your life. To be honest, you really needed a place of your own. Being introverted can be incredibly challenging when, every waking moment, there is the chance of a family member checking on you.
That, and the fact that dark academia had always been your jam, were the deciding factors. So here you sit. On a ramshackle chair. The desk has a nice colour, but the paints won't fool you. It is raggedy as well.
You thought the library would be a bit bussier. You have to admit: the reason why Geoffrey needed a colleague is a bit of a mistery. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. It gives you plenty of time to study the contents of the books you are watching over. Acadamic skills seem to be critically underused here in Camelot.
Although some boy has been paying a lot of visits.

“What?” Merlin finally asks, his voice dripping with annoyance from across the king’s chambers.
Arthur fumbles with his parchments, averting his gaze and raising his eyebrow at a page that was most certainly not upside down, heat rushing to his cheeks,
“Hm?”
“Arthur!” He says warningly.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Well then, stop watching me!” Merlin rolls his eyes, leaning back down to grab for the sponge he had thrown in his frustration. “I’m doing my job, aren’t I?”
Arthur scoffs. “I’m not-”
“I can feel your eyes burning into the back of my skull, you prick.”
He wavers.
“I’m just… thinking.”
“Oh well don’t hurt yourself,” Merlin grumbles, scrubbing a particular part of the chamber floor harder. A wine stain that they both know won’t come off clean, from years prior, but that doesn’t stop him from trying. Trying to clean or trying to annoy Arthur though, he couldn’t really be sure.
He finally sighs, tossing the sponge back into the bucket, and stretching out his back. “What are you thinking about?”
He considers not answering. He’s the king, he can demand anything he wants from his servants, including leaving him the hell alone. Though that didn’t usually seem to work with Merlin and there were some conversations he couldn’t avoid forever.
“Why didn’t you accept the position on the council?”
Merlin turns to him fully now, head tilted in confusion. “What?”
“You could be in your own chambers right now. Large, lavish chambers,” he emphasizes, placing his parchment back down. “Dining and drinking wine and preparing for bed. Instead of… this.”
“My knees are getting a bit worn for this part, to be honest.” He says, standing and curving his back slightly, the crack of his bones echoing awkwardly through the chamber. “But I couldn’t do that to whatever poor fool would end up getting this job instead. I wouldn’t want to punish someone with your dirty socks and poor habits.”
“Hey-!”
“And then who would help Gaius? I am still his assistant, even if you seem to forget that. You’re telling me that you want Gaius to train someone entirely new to take over after him?” He crosses his arms, tutting disappointedly. “I didn’t know you could be so cruel.”
“Shut up, Merlin.” Arthur rolls his eyes, leaning back in his chair. It was just like him to throw off a serious question about himself with some long winded complaining or stabbing at Arthur’s character.
Now, though, he knew why.
Merlin shrugs, drying off his hands with a spare cloth, his eyes scanning the room. He always did this before it was time to get Arthur ready for bed, a final once over of a job mostly well done.
“You asked.”
“Because I wanted an honest answer. Not your usual prattle.”
“I am being honest.” Merlin insists, though his voice wavers.
Sighing, Arthur finally pushes forward. “Is it because you want to stay by my side? Because you and I can’t be parted?”
“What?” His head jerks, his knuckles gripping the cloth tighter.
“If that is the reason, we can still be together when you’re a council member! Hell, you’ll be a nobleman so you can stay near me without having to serve. Get off your feet for a while.”
“You’re talking nonsense, Arthur.”
“I know, Merlin.” He says gently, standing. “I know.”
Merlin’s eyes are wide as he swallows hard, and Arthur is sure he can see him shaking. “I don’t-” His voice cracks. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“It’s okay,” Arthur says, approaching his servant as if he were an anxious cat and not his closest friend. “I heard you and Lancelot talking in the training room a few weeks ago.”
He considers what Arthur’s said, his eyes darting back and forth before they settle on the king. “And you’re just… fine with it?”
“Well, I wouldn’t exactly say fine with it. I wish you’d have told me, at the very least.” He stops, only a few feet in front of the other man. “But, I suppose, yes. I’ve thought a lot about it and I don’t think we should be parted either.”
“Really?” He asks, blinking owlishly.
Arthur nods, reaching a hand out to his shoulder. “I want you by my side, Merlin. Whether that’s as my servant or as my advisor, you will always be the person I turn to first.”
“Are you sure?” He asks, his shoulders relaxing ever so slightly, though his eyes are still shining. “I don’t want you to do this just because you feel bad. And what would the other advisors say? And the knights?”
“They’ll have to go through me then. And I don’t think making an enemy of the King of Camelot will really go well for them. Do you?”
“An enemy?” Merlin smiles and Arthur feels his whole body sigh in relief. “Do you really mean that?”
“I do.” A pause hangs between them, a familiar and comfortable silence. Merlin brings his hand up to Arthur’s, gently holding onto where the king’s hand rests on his shoulder, and Arthur can’t help but think that to stay here, in this moment, would bring him utter peace.
He’d never admit that, not to Merlin, or anyone else for that matter, but he could accept it for himself and that would be enough.
“Is, um, there anything I have to do to… move forward?”
“For your job, not at all. I’ll take care of everything.” Merlin nods, grinning softly. “But for us, can you tell me? I don’t want to know just from overhearing you and Lancelot. I want you to tell me the truth. Please.”
Merlin’s grin widens, his grasp on Arthur’s wrist tightening. “Okay. Let me just…” And he leans forward, tilting his head down ever so slightly, pressing his lips to a startled Arthur’s.
The king freezes, heat rushing to his face, and he can feel his chest tightening as Merlin pulls back.
“I love you,” Merlin murmurs in the air between them and Arthur can see it in his eyes. Which means that Merlin can see the absolute shock in his in return. Merlin’s face falls. “What?”
“You… what?”
“I… You said you knew!” Merlin accuses, attempting to pull back but Arthur’s grip on his shoulder tightens. “You shouldn’t be… I mean, you know that! Obviously, you know that, right? Why else would you have said all that?”
Arthur’s red in the face, sputtering and feeling like an absolute idiot. “I know about your magic, Merlin! I had no idea-”
“My what?!”
~~~
I know it's been done before but I'm a sucker for this trope. The only way I'm okay with miscommunication. Whatever you think happens next, it absolutely does :)
Hoping to write more Merlin blurbs to motivate me to finish my multichapter fics because writer's block is a bitch.
“How do we get past this?”
“You live. For him. For them.”
"I don't know if I can bear it Gwen."
"I know. I know... But you have me and I have you. You're not alone in this anymore Merlin," she puts a hand on his shoulder. "I see you for who you are completely now."
Merlin's battered heart surges, grateful, oh so grateful to finally hear those words but torn that the one he wants to hear them from the most is not here.
He reaches up and clasps her hand on him.
"Thank you, Gwen."
hi fyscka love 🙈✨ is there any chance we could get #7 on that richard siken ask game 👉👈💖
TW: drugs, addiction
7. there isn't anything sexier than a slender boy with a handgun, a fast car, and a bottle of pills.
Here you go dear <3 I hope you like the vibes!!!! 🥰You sent me spiraling about that for a good hour 😂💖 (this is unbetaed so if you see a mistake, no you don't <3)
Merlin has always been on the run: from his past, from his Family, from his sins. He's got a handgun tucked on him (a prayer), a fast car or whatever he can get his hands on (an out), and his pills (a prison of his own making).
The Dispatcher is on his tail and is set to retrieve him, and if not, to put an end to him. Merlin won't let himself be caught so easily: he is sparks and piano wire, delicate-looking perhaps but strong and deadly. Meeting Pendragon was like supernova, a chase and run, a deadly tango, one pushing the other and the other pulling him back.
---
Merlin may be free from Their grasp but it's about the pills, always about these forsaken red pills. He's slowly purging them by himself - it may be rough and dirty but it gets the job done. But he's got his moments of weakness, when It takes hold of him. He trembles, dropping the bottle on the cheap linoleum, wanting to take more, more, more (he must not) but his entire body is in agony and spilling away on a dirty bathroom floor.
---
His very being is on fire, until cool fingers cup his jaw and a strong arm cradles him against a solid presence. In his pain, and his delusions catching up to him, he doesn't process the soft murmurs against his temples. He feels light as gravity leaves him and comes back in the form of a soft mattress. The body withdraws and Merlin feels that absence keenly, as the air itself seems to wrap up against his feverish skin again, trapping him there.
After a few eternities, the cold hands pull him up and he feels like a rag doll, weak and shapeless. Cool glass touches his lips and despite the alarms sounding in his subconscious, he swallows the refreshing liquid. If what was fed to him was poison, well he wouldn't mind dying like this. He tries blinking but what he sees is a combination of dirty orange, from the hotel room lights, black, and a glimpse of icy blue, although he isn't sure what that is, or he does but refuses to let himself think about it.
In the morning, he wakes up alone, with clean clothes and a cool compress slipping from his forehead.
Top to Bottom:
🧙‍♂️ Merlin and the Dragons by Jane Yolen
🐉 Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon by Kat Zhang
I was in a very “dragon mood” earlier and I snatched two books I haven’t read yet. I’m here to tell you about them.
Jane Yolen’s Merlin and the Dragons is a classic story, told masterfully and fantastically. It’s the story of Merlin as a boy, as he’s telling a young Arthur. Along with the fantastic story are beautiful illustrations done by Li Ming.
After that fun story, I got to read the lovely and thoughtful Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon by Kat Zhang and illustrated by the fabulous Charlene Chua. After her teacher asks the class to create their own dragon, Amy Wu feels like her dragon doesn’t fit in with her classmates’ western designs. So she goes home and her grandmother tells her all about how cool eastern dragons are! And Amy starts to make her own dragon that’s true to herself. I loved this and thought it should be added to any and all “Dragon Reading Lists”.
I’d totally recommend these reads if you’re in a dragon mood 🐲 and want something quick and easy.
Why is it you can have a setting and characters that you love but whenever you ask your brain to write a plot it just goes No. So you work on world development and fleshing out characters and figuring out how your different characters talk and how they'd react to being thrown headfirst into random situations for a YEAR only for youtube so suddenly send you back to Clamavi De Profundis dwarf music for NO PARTICULAR REASON and a joke song they posted for APRIL FOOLS gets a Muse to throw a ROCK at your head and suddenly you've scribbled down the whole plot skeleton in half an hour? Why? Why does this happen?
Strawberries
Tumblr media
summary: it’s safe to say you didn’t expect company when you snuck out for a picnic with Regulus, your relationship more forbidden than the forest itself.
content: the marauders basically being your older brothers after you grew up next door to the Potters, protective and angry James and Sirius, Sirius and Regulus still being on bad terms, fluff turned slight angst, short, food, teasing, mentions of Sirius and Regulus’ parents
“So you’ve never read Pride and Prejudice?” You asked, almost offended by your discovery.
“No. Do you happen to remember that my parents are blood supremacists who forbade me from reading muggle literature?” Regulus responded.
“Okay, maybe I forgot. Either way, this is unacceptable. Reggie, it appears we have found our next book to read.” You announced, picking up a strawberry that Regulus had been reaching for.
“Oi! I was gonna grab that one!” He exclaimed, trying to reach for the red fruit, only to have you pull your arm away from him.
“You snooze, you lose,” You said with a shake of your head.
However, right as you went to bite into the sweet berry, Regulus tackled you, his body hovering over yours and your wrists pinned against the picnic blanket laid on the grass.
Throughout being tackled, you somehow managed to continue your hold on the strawberry, refusing to yield to him.
“You could’ve just asked to split it and I would’ve done it, love,” You pointed out, cocking your eyebrow.
“Well, this is much more fun. Isn’t it?” Regulus’s voice dropped to a whisper, his face lowering closer and closer to yours.
“It is…” You breathed out, lifting your head up until Regulus’s lips were pressed against yours, his hair brushing against your forehead.
The blissful silence was broken by a loud shout.
“What the hell is this?!” Sirius yelled, causing the two sixteen-year-olds to quickly break apart, scrambling to opposite sides of the blanket with their eyes wide in horror, the strawberry long forgotten.
You opened your mouth to respond but faltered at the rage burning in Sirius’s eyes.
“What is it Padfo- what in Merlin’s name is going on here?!” James’s eyes fell upon the sight of Regulus and you, his big brother mode immediately activating.
All words of defense and explanation quickly disappeared from your tongue, unsure of how to respond to the obvious rage emitting from the two boys.
“James, Sirius, I... I can explain- we can explain, please-” You stuttered out, struggling to get any words out of your mouth as your panic set in.
“No. No, c’mon Y/N, we’re leaving,” James said, his voice as firm as his grip on your arm as he pulled you off of the blanket, glaring at Regulus and dragging you away from the Black brothers- one of which was frozen in horror, the other seething with rage.
“Y/N-!” Regulus called out, going to stand before falling back from a shove from Sirius.
“What the fuck, Regulus?!” Sirius exclaimed, “Why her? Out of every girl in this school, you chose the one who’s like a little sister to me- is it to get back at me for leaving?”
“It’s not that, Sirius- I…” Regulus faltered.
“What? Spit it out!”
"Listen, I... I really like Y/N- really like her. Please, I'm not doing this out of vengeance, Sirius. I wouldn't even think about hurting Y/N! Siri… I’m not lying to you, I swear," Regulus stuttered out, the childhood nickname accidentally slipping off his tongue, "It's... real and I've never experienced anything like it before.”
“Godric… I just don’t…” Sirius paused, chewing on his lip, “I can’t do this right now.”
Sirius turned around for a moment, but turned to face his brother once more, “We aren’t done, Regulus. But this? This is.”
Regulus sat there speechless as his brother jogged to catch up to James and you, looking down to see the red strawberry sitting on the blanket, miraculously untouched.
Hello I’m new here (tumblr) and idk if I’m doing this right but hi!
Your fics first came up with regulus and moon water so I’ve been binge reading your fics :), I was wondering if you would write Sirius x reader?
Where like Sirius is like head over heels for reader and it’s just him talking to the marauders about her because she’s like on prefect duties so he misses her.
If not that’s fine.
hahaha lovesick Siri is my kryptonite - thanks for your request; here's a cute little baby blurb <3
please note: my requests are currently closed as I finish exams and work through the requests that I currently have.
lovesick!Sirius Black x fem!reader who's on prefect rounds and he's upset about it
“So….why exactly is Padfoot pouting right now?” Peter asked cautiously as he shed off his bookbag and sat down to watch James and Remus’ game of wizard chess as Sirius hung upside down from a grandfather chair looking awfully contemplative.
“His bird ditched him for some other bloke.” James muttered without raising his head.
Sirius scoffed dramatically and shot James what was probably supposed to be a withering glare, but was significantly diminished from his current upside-downness.
“First of all, do not call my darling girl a bird. Second of all, she did not ditch me for another man, she has prefect rounds with Regulus.”
“The better of the Black brothers; good for her.” Remus commented; dodging a throw pillow lobbed at him from Sirius without moving his attention from the board.
“What? You think you’re going to die if she’s not here to stroke your ego, Pads?” James asked teasingly.
“I might.” Sirius responded earnestly.
The other three Marauders groaned.
“You’re all just jealous you don’t know what it’s like to be in love.” Sirius accused as he repositioned himself upright in the chair.
Remus and James both turned to give him unimpressed glares.
“You’re nearly as bad as Prongs now.” Peter muttered, earning him indignant “oi!”’s from both James and Sirius.
“I can’t help it if she’s the best thing to ever happen to me, Wormy.” Sirius pouted.
“I am sitting right here.” James grumbled.
Sirius rolled his eyes. “You’re a close second, Prongs.”
“She can’t be that great if she willingly puts up with you.” Remus commented, causing Sirius to launch himself out of the grandfather chair and onto Remus’ back.
“You take that back right now! My girl is the sweetest, most angelic, lovely person in the whole wide world and we’re all better for it.”
“Oh my gods, okay, okay. Merlin’s tits you’re wild.” Remus muttered as he bodily shoved Sirius off of his person.
“I can’t believe she puts up with you if this is what you’re like around her.” Peter commented, earning him a laugh from James.
“Oh, you should see it, Worms. She reduces him to nothing but a soppy lovesick smile whenever she’s around; no more feral Pads, he’s right docile with her.”
Sirius stared between his three friends with his mouth hanging open, face painted in a look of pure betrayal.
“See, this is why I spend so much time with her; she’d never treat me like this.”
“And yet, here you are.” Remus taunted.
Sirius stood quickly as he scoffed derisively. “Fine. I’m going to go hang out with her; at least then I’ll know I’m wanted.”
No one said anything as Sirius dramatically stormed out of the portrait hole and the Gryffindor common room once again returned to its appropriate volume.
“His logic is flawed if he thinks Regulus wants him anywhere near them during their rounds.” Peter commented, causing James to groan.
“Reg’s gonna hex him into oblivion if he disrupts their prefect duties again.” The Headboy groaned.
Remus let out a long suffering sigh as he stood from his long since abandoned chess game and made for the portrait hole.“I’ll go play interference…again.”
Fred Weasley x wolfstars daughter! reader
Tumblr media
Summary: While y/n and Fred walk home in the snow, the simplest conversation makes Fred sure of one thing, he's going to marry that girl
A/n: 0.7k words, day 4 we have another fluffy little blurb with freddie and wolfstars adopted daughter, enjoy xx
Tumblr media
Navigation | Fred Weasley Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Did you know…”
Fred’s already chuckling, the sight of you trying to get on your big fluffy coat whilst tipsy was cute enough, but combine it with an excited random fact? You have his heart melting like crazy. He was used to your random trivia but never grew tired of it, he loved it in fact, especially as it hardly ever related to anything you were doing.
Like when he first met you, you had tagged along with Harry and his dad, your godfather, James, to the quidditch world cup, instead of a 'did you know this about quidditch fact' whilst you walked up the stands with him him, he got a 'did you know otters hold hands while sleeping so they don’t float away from one another?'
It was safe to say he had been at your mercy ever since
"...that...one second...that s-"
“Here…” he gently interrupts your fact before you can start, helping you get your hand through the sleeve “...good girl” he pecks your forehead, adoring the the grin he receives as you cheese up at him, eyes glassy, clearly only half here but the love in your eyes shines through
After one last shout goodbye to those at the party you and Fred brave the cold, his hand finding yours before guiding into his larger pocket to keep it warm
“It’s snowing” you note, free hand coming to wrap around his bicep, as your cheek presses into it
“It is...almost as pretty as you my love” he flirts, adoring your giggle before you let out a little yip, head shooting up to look at him as you move away slightly to smile up at him “What?”
“I forgot to tell you the fact” you say softly and his heart warms, secretly glad you remembered
“Hit me” he flashes you a goofy grin, unable to hold it back as he wraps his arm around you and leads you down the now snow dusted path
“Did you know that Scotland's national animal is a unicorn because there was this wizard whose pet unicorn followed him into a muggle battle?” you say, a little slurred and in a higher pitched tone, the same one you always used when saying your little facts
Fred chuckles, pulling you a little closer into his side “Seriously?”
“Siriusly” you start giggling
“See this is the stuff Binns should have taught us…” Fred shakes his head “...actually you know what lovely? You should try and poach his job” he presses a kiss to your hat clad temple
“Nah” you shake your head
“Why not? You love facts, adorable at telling them, cute as a button so all the guys and gals will crush on you, be closer to your dads and uncle” he lists with a shrug, genuinely surprised you wouldn’t be interested
You stop walking, gently removing yourself from Fred's grip and taking his hands in yours instead. His eyebrows pinch but his face soon softens into a smile as he sees you shining up at him
“Because then I wouldn’t see my favourite person everyday...” you answer simply, easily, almost like it should have been obvious but the next bit floors him "...and when I find out a new fact I can't tell anyone else until i've told you, I always tell you first"
He always felt it in his heart that he was going to marry you one day, but this was the moment he knew for sure...so much that in less than a weeks time you would be saying that three letter word to make it a reality
“Merlin I love you...” the words tumble out breathlessly in the same manor as yours "...so much...so...so much" he emphasises squeezing your hands
Your smile widens at that, a giggle escaping as you step forward, chests grazing “Ditto” you shine, placing a sweet kiss to his nose
He doesn’t let you pull away fully, instead dips down to capture your lips, hands slipping out of yours to cup your chilled cheeks while the snow lightens around you for a moment, large flakes fluttering down slowly like you were in some movie. The cold forgotten for a moment as your warm lips dance with one another, your hands gliding up to find his chest, not caring that it made your fingertips go numb
Your lips still ghost the others as you break away, your cheeks rising with your smile in his light grip as you whisper “Did you know if you remind yourself you aren’t a fish your hiccups will stop?”
“You're pulling my leg” he whispers back
“Wanna bet Weasley?” you say letting your lips meet again tentatively
“With you? Always little wolf”
Regulus Black ‐ Jasmine, Lavender, and Poppy
Tumblr media
Pairing : Regulus Black x (she/her) Reader Word Count : 0.6k Warning : Nothing, just pure fluff. Synopsis : Regulus made sure that she would never forget his scent ever again. Notes : My first blurb. Should I make more of these? If you like this story and would like to support me, please visit my kofi page and perhaps get me a coffee?☕
She remembers his scent well. That very special smell of oud and leather, something that portrays luxury and obscurity. Something that feels like home. Something that screams him— Regulus Arcturus Black.
But poking on Regulus has always been one of her most favourite things to do. Even before they were romantic, teasing him has always been second nature for her. His reactions have always brought her bliss. Their harmless banter is what fuels their day and it feels like the perfect time for her to pull the first taunt of the day.
"I don't smell you from the Amortentia," She lied, teasing her boyfriend whose brows are now pinched high from the offensive words she spilled "I smelled cinnamon, wet grass, and linen."
"Bullshit, I smelled you. There's no way you smelled someone else."
Shs shrugs, closing her textbook that hasn't been read ever since they entered the library, "Maybe you smelled wrong."
"I'm never wrong about these kinds of things."
"Yeah?" She challenges, propping her chin in the palm of her hand "What did you smell?"
"I smelled jasmine, lavender, and poppy."
"That doesn't smell like me. You're just listing random flowers."
Regulus raised an eyebrow, "Your perfume's base is jasmine. You drop a few lavender oil to your seal wax on all of our letters. Your garden is filled with poppies. You are jasmine, lavender, and poppy."
A smile blooms on her face. It was one thing to be satisfied by teasing your boyfriend and another to have him spelling the little details of you. Regulus has always been the observant party of the two, she just never realised how much of her he's taking notes of.
"Also, Love, your house is always decorated with those three flowers on every corner. You are what I smelled from Amortentia. You are my soulmate."
"Well, no one said Amortentia smells like your soulmate. They say it smells like someone you're attracted to so maybe that's why." She continues her scheme, concealing her blooming heart "Maybe I'm attracted to someone else now."
Regulus' brows rose higher, looking even more appalled at her words, "Are you being serious right now?"
She shrugs.
Regulus stood from his seat. Perhaps teasing him in the library when they're the last people there wasn't such a brilliant idea. Merlin knows what he might do now. Regulus might be a calm and collected person but wrong poke and you'll wake the fury inside him.
She started to inch away, pushing her seat back until it hit the wall, giving her no other space to escape. Regulus kneeled down, levelling to her eye level and eyes her deeply. His brows were still knitted in displease but his eyes were soft. Her plan to keep an aloof expression has evidently failed as a playful smile cracks on her lips, anticipating for his next move whilst praying that he wasn't genuinely angry.
"You're a menace." He says before kissing her.
Regulus pulled her chair closer, locking her in place as he put his hands on her sides. It wasn't like she's planning to leave, anyway. No one in their right mind would want to go when they're being kissed by him, especially with such an intimate and asserting position.
One hell of a man, Regulus is.
A victorious smile was plastered on her face when they pulled away. It was a short kiss. Just enough for him to prove to her just how wrong she is about the scents she's attracted to. Regulus knew that she was lying, that she was just trying to get his reaction, yet he complied with her charade anyway.
Regulus now stands from his position. He took off his robe, tossing it carelessly to the seat he occupied a couple minutes ago. He then takes off his jumper, making her cheeks burn from the sight. He surely knows how to keep her around.
"The library might not give you the best privacy if you're planning to go nude, Love." She comments.
Regulus rolls his eyes, handing her his jumper, "Wear it."
"Why?"
"So you won't ever forget my scent again."
It’d been all his stupid idea, one you vehemently wanted to run away from. One that struck fear up your spine like lightning and sent fire licking at the base of your skull. An idea that, now, led you to be standing outside his old flat’s front door with ice-cold rain sticking your clothes to your skin and hot tears streaming down your cheeks hours after he’d left you reeling in your own flat.
or the three times theseus asked you to move in with him and the one time you asked.
Moving in with Theseus hadn’t been your idea. It’d been his. Totally, completely, and unarguably his idea. One he’d spent weeks, at this point, convincing you to go through with. An idea you’d initially been so adamant about turning down. But he was nothing if not persistent.
He’d presented you with a key the first night he’d asked. Just a key, warm from where he’d kept it in his coat pocket pressed tight against his chest over the course of his work day. He’d dug it out of the jacket that had been hastily tossed off to the floor near the side of the bed when you’d nearly jumped his bones after he’d apparated back to his flat. You’d already been home–his home, that is–snuggled up in his bed with a cup of tea and a sleep shirt he’d had since his seventh year.
“What’s this?” you asked as he’d handed it to you. His hands shook, and he’d been grateful you failed to make a comment on it.
“A key,” he hummed as you took it.
“But… Thes, I already have a key to your place?” Your eyebrows knitted across your forehead as your statement quirked into a question.
“I know,” he said. “My lease comes up in a month and I…”
You brought a hand up to the side of his jaw, urging him to continue as his lips pressed kisses to your palm.
“I know yours does, too. A week after mine, but I was hoping you’d think about letting it.”
It’s a wonder it hadn’t clicked for you yet. His beautiful, bright girl that amazed him every day, who was making him spell out this question for her, letter by letter, while his heart threatened to give out in his chest.
“Letting it do what?” you asked.
“Run out,” he exhaled. Merlin, his lungs felt heavy.
“Are you asking me to move in with you?” you asked, hand dropping to your side as you sat up fully. You brought the top sheet with you, covering the skin Theseus had spent the last hour and a half marking with his teeth. His eyes burned as he followed your movement and leaned his back against the headboard.
“I’d been trying to, yes,” he said.
“Don’t you think it’s a little… I don’t know,” you swallowed, throat dry with a lack of an answer. “Fast?”
“Love, we’ve been together for nearly two years. I thought–”
He’d been cut off with your legs being thrown over the edge of the bed, feet scrambling to hold your body up as your hands reached for the clothes you’d been wearing earlier in the evening.
“I can’t.” With your eyes screwed shut, you tugged your slip back up over your body and crossed the room to grab the shirt you’d come to his flat in–not the one of his you’d been wearing when he’d come home, a sight that has his jaw aching. It’d taken you a minute longer to find your wand, white knuckling it as you pressed a kiss to your boyfriend’s hairline. You were gone within the minute, with the key left at the foot of the bed.
He hadn’t even had the chance to move from the spot you’d left him in.
He’d left it alone enough after that, though his heart had ached each time his hand passed over the weight of the key he still kept in his pocket.
The second time he’d asked–more insinuated, this time–had been at breakfast two weeks later, thankfully, in a less vulnerable state of dress.
“I saw the flat yesterday,” he said, though his eyebrows were raised with the hint that there was more lingering under that statement than you’d wanted. “Unfurnished, that is. I saw it a couple weeks ago when I bought it and everything, but I saw it for the first time since I’d signed the lease on it yesterday.”
“Theseus.”
“Look, I know. I know.” He drew his fist tight as he inhaled. “I know you think it’s too fast, darling.”
“Then why are you doing this?” you asked.
You weren’t even sure why you were fighting it this hard at this point anymore. It was all you’d thought about since he’d asked the first time. And you weren’t going to lie, you’d warmed to the idea. Not that you were ready to admit that, apparently.
He brought your hand up to gently lay kisses on your knuckles. “Just come see it with me, yeah?”
You offered him a pointed look. “Don’t have to make any snap decisions,” he assured you. “Even though I’m desperately hoping that you will.”
“Okay,” you whispered.
“Okay?”
“I’ll go look at the flat with you,” you said.
He’d been so eager, the smile he’d given you had been enough to allow him to convince you to stop by the next morning.
It was a lovely flat, honestly. It had a kitchen large enough to house an island, a bedroom much bigger than you’d been anticipating, and a view that had you fully leaning out the window to get a better look at. And, it was a five minute walk away from your office. A fact Theseus had mentioned thirty seconds into your initial walkthrough. A walkthrough that had unsurprisingly consisted of all the reasons Theseus had picked the place. Or, better worded, all the reasons Theseus thought the place would be a perfect fit for you. For the both of you.
“The living room’s the perfect size for your couch, you know. I was thinking you’d want to bring it along if you ever ended up here since you spent so long picking it out and everything…”
“Thes, it’s beautiful. It really is,” you said, stepping closer to him as you watched the corners of his lips twitch into a grin.
He fully bridged the gap then, hands falling to your hips to tug you into his chest. “So?”
“I’ll think about it,” you hummed and he leaned down to kiss you fully.
“Improvement,” he said. “I’ll take it.”
The next couple days had been a constant barrage of dropped hints. It felt like you’d been suffocated beneath the weight of the question, one that hadn’t been asked in its entirety since that first night.
He’d been halfway through one of his… less subtle hints when you snapped. All you’d wanted was time. A bit of time. A tiny, miniature, speck of time to organize your thoughts, and he’d given you just short of what you’d needed.
The key had been dangling from his fingers, for Merlin’s sake, and it took all the strength in your body not to snatch it out of his hands and throw it out the window of your own flat, the one the two of you were currently curled up in.
“Stop it!” you spat. “I said I would think about it, right. I can’t think about anything with the way you’re keeping this up.”
He stalled, fingers wrapping around the gold key to hide it from view. His jaw snapped closed as your own clenched.
“I’m sorry, I just…” you sighed.
“No, I get it. I’ll give you some more time,” he said, a crack of thunder in the distance rumbling overhead as you watched him pull away from you to gather the few belongings he’d brought with him.
He left with little more than a muttered goodbye as he slipped out the door. Not even a kiss, one you’d been hopeful enough to think would come despite your current situation.
It’d been all his stupid idea, one you vehemently wanted to run away from. One that struck fear up your spine like lightning and sent fire licking at the base of your skull. An idea that, now, led you to be standing outside his old flat’s front door with ice-cold rain sticking your clothes to your skin and hot tears streaming down your cheeks hours after he’d left you reeling in your own flat.
You knock on the door with feeble fingers, toes curling in your shoes as your socks meld to the skin of your feet. You wait a minute. Two minutes, nearly three before he throws open the door with only a pair of trousers on.
“What are you-” he cuts himself off. “My love, are you crying?”
You barely manage out a shake of your head, a piss poor attempt at a lie, as a shiver rumbles through your torso.
“Come here, come inside,” he steps aside enough to let you in. He shuts the door once you’re inside, immediately tugging you into his chest where the warmth of his skin does wonders to calm the tremors wracking through you. Both of his hands come up to cup your cheeks, drawing your face into his direct gaze no matter how much you want to shove your nose into his neck and hide from his worrying eyes.
“What is it, darling?” His eyes scan your face as his hands hold the weight of your head up under your jaw. His thumb clears a tear off your cheek before it has the chance to fall. “C’mon, love. I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s wrong.”
“Please let me live with you,” you sniffle, hands coming up to grasp at the waistband of his pants. The way you’re clinging to him feels desperate, like he’d slip away if you managed to let go.
“What?”
“I’m so sorry I let it go on this long. I’m sorry I ever made you think I don’t want this, want you. It’s all I’ve ever wanted,” you sob. “Please let me live with you.”
“I thought you wanted-”
“I thought I did, too,” you hiccup, and Theseus has to fight to hide the smile that’s working its way up his face. “But, then I realized what I really wanted was you. This. All of you.”
“You have me. You’ve always had me darling, promise,” he says. “And obviously I want you to live with me… but are you sure?”
You nod.
“I need to hear you say it, lovely. You’ve kind of been fighting me on this since day one,” he says. “I’m sure,” you say.
Masterlist | Part 2
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
If Theodore Nott had his way, people would stop calling him controlling. Okay, maybe there had been times where he had lied and deceived to get his way, and sure, he was quick to rise to temper which often made people just agree with him, but it was just because he always knew what was best.
He had first said this thought outloud to the pretty girl he had been dating during their seventh year at Hogwarts and after two years of being with him, she felt comfortable enough to scoff at his words.
“Because you know what’s best?” They had just left Draco Malfoy’s and Theo was driving her home.
His eyes flickered to hers and back to the road, astounded that she had the audacity to scoff at him.
“Well, yeah.” The only reason they were having this conversation was because of something stupid Draco had said.
“You need another drink,” Draco had said as soon as he noticed the girl sitting on Theo’s lap had an empty cup in her hand.
“Ooh, yes please.”
“No, she doesn’t.”
She turned to look at her frowning boyfriend and gave him a look to match his.
“Theo,” she had whined.
“You’ve already drank enough, if you drink something else, you’ll get sick.” He had sat up to whisper in her ear and there was a piece of her deep down that knew he was right. She was currently happy and drunk and she had drunk that last drink quite fast. Another would probably move her to the next level of drunk that she did not want nor need for a casual get together with friends.
“I might have one a bit later, Draco, thank you.” Theo slouched back down, happy with the compromise.
“Merlin, Nott,” Draco scoffed, “you keep her on a tight leash.”
Theo suddenly wasn’t slouching anymore nor was she sitting on his lap.
“You were happy and drunk, another drink only would have made you feel worse.”
She took a deep breath and bit her tongue as they came to a red light. It casted a shadow on Theo’s face as he turned to look at her. He kept one hand on the steering wheel but brought the other to give the flesh of the thigh closest to him a squeeze. He left it there as she sighed.
“I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying you’re controlling.”
His gaze wasn’t harsh, but it still let her know that he wasn’t happy with her response.
She did her best to change her face in a way that would please the boy who had a small tick in his jaw. She widened her eyes and wet her lips, sinking into her seat slightly and glancing at the large hand still sprawled over the top of her thigh.
“I didn’t say I didn’t like it.”
That made his gaze soften.
It was true.
She had been in the same house as Theo for seven years when she first started dating him and had been in the same circle for the same time.
She had seen him yell at first years to get out of their spot, she had seen him lead all of their group projects and she had seen him get angry with new people on the Quidditch team because they couldn’t understand his new formation.
But she had only really realised this in their sixth year during the Sytherin’s annual end of year celebration. There was a bottle of firewhiskey and a deck of cards that Theo was currently dealing.
She had known amost since their first day that Theodore Nott was attractive, but it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that she had decided that she was going to do something about it. And doing her best to make sure she was in his line of site at all times, she had somehow ended up next to him in the circle, trying to keep up with the rules he was currently explaining to her.
“-and if you don’t, you drink. Does that make sense?” She was nodding even though she was still caught up on the first rule he had started with.
He had finished dealing and was looking down at her in a way that told her he knew she was lying.
She didn’t mind.
Nor did she mind when he said, “how about I help you for the first round?”
And she wasn’t surprised either when it was her second turn and she had been staring at her cards for less than thirty seconds before he grabbed them out of her hands and said, “here, let me have a look.”
It reminded her of how he’d grab the parchment out of anyone’s hands whenever he didn’t trust them to write in enough detail for their group tasks.
“Play this one,” he had said, already throwing down her card before he handed her deal back to her.
She didn’t really mind this. She still chose to date him halfway through their last year and it wasn’t until the next year’s celebration that she came to the realisation that she even kinda liked it.
She was sitting in his lap and he had a cigarette in his mouth. He tried to blow it away from her but sometimes it would waft back and she would try to stop her nose from scrunching up. Their relationship was still too new for that.
She blamed the red plastic cup in her hand for the reason she asked, “Can I have a go?”
Theodore had been laughing at something Blaise said, but in the second he had turned down to look at her, Blaise had turned to Pansy and she took his opportunity to nod at the cigarette in the hand that wasn’t gripping her waist.
The chucke lines on his pretty face smoothed out and he let his hand drop as he immediately said, “No.”
She pouted at him.
“Why not?” She was giggling and she wasn’t entirely sure why, it did nothing to change the harsh angles of his jawline nor the serious look she was now on the receiving end of.
“They’re not good for you.”
“You do it.”
“That’s different.”
She giggled again, giving him a faux confused look at his contradiction.
“Please,” she whined. She really had no desire to smoke said cigarette, she just wanted to see where this would go.
“No,” he said, “end of discussion.”
There was a fluttering in her tummy and Theodore wasn’t entirely sure what it meant, but he didn’t miss the way her body gave a slight twitch at his words.
And in his defence, after seeing that boy with a cigarette in his hand almost everyday for the last couple of years, she could count the times she had seen smoke blow from his pretty mouth on one hand since that incident even if his clothes stil smet like smoke.
But it wasn’t until that night that they had spoken about it. And it was hard to tell whether that small confession in Theo’s car had changed the amount of control he usually used over her.
As shown by the events that had led up to that conversation, Theo had always kept her on a tight leash at parties.
“I just care about you, s’all,” he’d shrug when she gave him a pout everytime he cut off her drinking.
“Come straight back though,” he’d instruct when she’d get up from her designated seat (his lap) and go with Pansy to the bathroom.
“Stay where I can see you,” he’d whisper when she went to go join Pansy on the dance floor.
And he was even worse when he wasn’t at said party.
It had been three years since they started dating, over a year since the conversation in his car and a few of her friends from her work had convinced her to join them in testing the new club that had opened in Diagon Alley.
When she came out in a tight back dress that rested just below the flesh of her bum, she didn’t even react when she saw the muscle jump in her boyfriends jaw. He had come over to hers to annoy her while she was getting ready.
“I’m not annoying,” he had scowled when she said this to him.
He was driving her in and he only came early so he could make sure he knew exactly what the night would entail.
“You don’t like it?” He was sitting on her bed and she made her way over to him, nudging his knees with her own so she could stand in between his legs. His hands rested happily on her hips, rubbing the fabric of her dress he wished wasn’t covering her pretty skin.
When she let out a playful giggle he tore his hands away, only to bring them back to make a loud slapping noise as he brought them down on the flesh of her bum. She squealed as he continued to give it a tight squeeze making her body draw closer to his.
“You know I love this dress,” he whispered over her small gigges, “and I don’t care when I’m there, people know not to mess with me.” She wanted to roll her eyes at his corny words, but refrained knowing she was already pushing his buttons by wanting to wear this dress. “But I won’t be there tonight, baby.”
His voice was soft and she was letting herself melt into his touch. His hands were now rubbing the fabric covering the flesh he had tortured and she was feeling content.
Which was why she was sure she had gotten whiplash when he said, “So go change.”
He was using the same tone he had used when he told her that he wasn’t going to let her smoke. She could almost hear him say, ‘end of discussion.’
She turned her head to look at him, her mouth slightly agape in shock at the change in her boyfriend but he kept his gaze firm and she was quite dumbfounded at what had just happened so she kissed the top of his head and moved herself out of his embrace to go change.
She hadn’t thought too much about what she was wearing. She had only been out without Theo a handful of times and she had never had to worry about what she wore, only ever choosing what she felt best in at that moment in time.
She came out in another black dress, but this time it was longer.
“How’s this?” She had asked when she came out to show Theo again.
“Better.” He stood up this time to walk over to her.
When he was standing in front of her he placed the palm of his hands under her jaw, his thumbs resting on her cheeks. His palms were soft and warm and she let her head sink into his touch.
“If anyone bothers you, you know I’ll be there straight away.”
“I know,” she said, going on her tippy toes to place a gentle kiss on his lips. And she was truly grateful for that.
In the car, Theo continued.
“Message me as soon you’re ready, I’ll be there straight away. Cover your drink. If you feel even sightly off, just let me know. Trust your intuition. If you go anywhere else, let me know as well. And if anyone-”
“Gives me trouble I’ll let you know.” They were parked outside the club, but the car was still on. Theo turned his head to raise a questioning eyebrow at her.
“Don’t be a brat.”
“I’m sorry,” she sighed, “I know you’re just looking out for me, I promise I’ll keep you updated the whole night.”
“Good girl,” he mumbled as she leaned over to kiss him.
“I love you.”
“I love you pretty girl, have fun.” And what that, she slammed the door.
He watched her walk over to her friends and then began his drive back home.
The whole drive home his mind was full of worry for the pretty girl he had just left barely seconds ago.
What if something happened to her? Whenever he was there he made sure she could let her guard down and of course, he trusted her and knew she was more than capable, but he couldn’t help himself.
When he got home he sent her a message.
‘home x’
‘did you get in okay?’
He stared down at the two bubbles that had come from his phone. He tried to get his mind off it.
He got out a book, but all he was doing was looking at words, he wasn’t comprehending anything.
Five minutes had passed.
‘my love’
‘please answer’
He tried to make himself a snack. But he found he wasn’t actuay hungry.
Ten minutes.
This wasn’t good enough. She needed to answer him. Did she not know that he was going crazy wondering about all the horrible things that could have happened to her?
He pulled out his phone and rang her number.
She didn’t answer.
He was seconds away from going there himself. He knew it was crazy, but there was a part of him that wanted to go in with her. Sit at a tabel by himself so she could have her fun and he could still keep an eye on her. But even he thought that might be going to far. Except now he knew that that was what he should have done all along.
He was twirling his keys in his hand, seconds away from going there himself when her pretty picture filled up his screen.
“Theo?”His heart started beating again when he heard her voice.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, we were just on the dancefloor. I’m sorry.” And he could just imagine the sheepish look that was overtaking her pretty face.
“It’s okay my love, please just keep your phone on you, yeah?”
“Ok Theo,” she said, “I will, I promise. I love you.”
“I love you my girl.”
He waited until she hung up the phone and put his keys back down.
Now that he knew she was okay, he feared he may have been a bit dramatic. But he coudn’t help it.
He was sure that it had come from his father. His father who was quick to temper and was aways the leader in his group of friends. It wasn’t a trait he was proud of, but the pretty girl he called his girlfriend claimed not to mind and he had to trust her on that.
It was later that night that the discussion had been brought up once more since that night in his car after Draco’s party.
Theo had picked her up and she was tipsy in his bathroom taking her makeup off with the makeup wipes he had bought for her after a night out when she didn’t have anything to take her make up off and had whined the whole night.
“Be quiet, I’lll buy you some tomorrow.” He had grumbled when they were in bed and all he wanted to do was sleep after hearing her moan and groan for the last forty-five minutes.
“My friends thought it was weird when you rang me.” He wasn’t sure she really knew what she was saying, but her words still made him sit up in his bed where he was waiting for her to join.
“What do you mean?” Her eyes were closed as she stumbled back into the bathroom to put the wipes away. Theo had already dressed her in her pyjamas and he watched her stumble back to the bed to join him.
As she pulled the blanket up she giggled out, “They think it’s controlling.”
“What did you say?” He asked, turning to his side and putting his weight on his elbow so he was looking down at the pretty girl with her head on the pillow.
“I said,” her eyes were closed and she finally opened them to meet his, “you have no idea.”
Theo frowned and before he could move to turn the other way, her hand shot up and grabbed his jaw.
“You know I love it.”
Feeling unwell.
James Potter x reader
Summary: the reader finds herself with a fever, and the boys help her feel better
A/N: this is such a little blurb but it was stuck in my head and I had to share it.
James creaked open his eyes, breaking the line of sleep that sealed them shut. He immediately moved to stretch but paused when he remembered the girl in his arms.
James' parents had been kind enough to let not only his girlfriend stay over the holiday, but Sirius as well. Peter and Remus made sure to visit once or twice throughout the month.
But James' girl was tucked against him, still fast asleep.
He reached up and brushed a piece of hair out of her face.
His voice was soft and kind, "C'mon, love. It's time to wake."
Her body shifted barely before her eyes opened. They were glazed over still from sleep, and her face held an uneasy look to it.
It was then that James really realized how warm the two had gotten.
"Merlin," he groaned as he put a hand on her forehead. "You're burning up, lovely."
She let out a small whine, too ill to say anything.
He laughed lightly and pushed himself up on an elbow to really study her, "Feeling unwell?"
The girl groaned and stretched out, but immediately curled back up at the cold air of the bedroom.
James sat up completely now, "You stay. I'll get you something, alright?"
Like she was even able to argue.
She still tried to, though. "N..I… 'M fine."
He laughed at her attempt. "Stay, love. I'll be back."
About that time, Sirius knocked on the door, "Is everyone dressed in there?"
James rolled his eyes. "Yes, Pads. Merlin."
Sirius threw the door open, "Morning, love birds. The sun is shining, the birds are ch-" he paused. "You sick, hun?"
The girl sat up on shaky arms and nodded, rubbing at her sleepy eyes.
"Got herself a fever." James informs him. "Pretty nasty."
Sirius huffed, "And here I thought we would go out today."
"N..you still can… I… I'll stay here." She tried to reason.
"Hell no," Sirius immediately says. "We're not going without you."
"But Remus is.. he's on his way today… and I don't want him… to.."
"No, love." James said. "Remus won't mind. I promise."
"He'd rather stay in and read anyway, honestly." Sirius chirped in.
She sighed and ran a hand through her unruly hair, "Promise?"
The two nodded. "Promise," James said.
Her boyfriend patted Sirius on the back and left to go get her some water.
Sirius watched him leave and then turned back to her, "You've got him whipped, you know?"
"W…whipped?"
"Merlin's beard, yes. Absolutely. Never seen him care for anyone this much."
She hummed, "I could say that about Remus to you."
Sirius blushed, "what?"
"C'mon, Pads. He likes you so much."
Sirius smiles, "I'm gonna blame this all on your fever."
"No, I swear!" She tries to reason.
He laughs and shakes his head, "We'll talk more about it when you feel better."
James returned with a small tray of muggle medicine, a glass of water, a wet cloth, and a bit of food for her to try. "I have all the remedies."
She falls back on the bed, "Thank Merlin."
James immediately puts the wet cloth to her head and she flinches at the coolness. After a while, she relaxes as she feels her temperature go down.
James and Sirius make conversation, James sitting next to her and Sirius sitting at the edge of the bed.
"When's Moony coming along?" James asked.
"I think he said at 1. Can't remember." Sirius shrugs.
She tugs at James' sleeve.
He bends down, their faces inches from each other. She turns her head away from him.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Don't want you to get sick, Jamie."
He scoffs, "It's too late for that, lovely."
A very gentle kiss is left on her lips.
Remus was indeed on time. Actually, he was 3 minutes early, which to him was late.
"JAMES!" He yelled from the fireplace.
"Shhhh…" Sirius immediately shushed him as he rounded the corner.
"W… What's going on?" Remus asked worriedly.
"Just," Sirius sighed. "Come see for yourself."
He grabbed the lycanthrope by the hand and pulled him to James' bedroom, ignoring the blush that spread across his cheeks.
Remus peaked his head into the room, his eyes finding James and his girlfriend fast asleep and cuddling, a mess of limps.
He smiled fondly and turned to Sirius who was also in the doorway. The proximity made him jump, then feel slightly flushed. "How long have they been asleep?" He whispered.
Sirius shrugged, "'bout an hour, I think."
Remus nodded, "I suppose it wouldn't be a shame if it was just the two of us spending time together."
Sirius felt like he couldn't even form words.
