Christmas Shenanigans

An old work again but it was pretty cute so here you go-

Synopsis: It’s really just Sweammare being cute and idiotic.

“Nightmare.” Dream sighed in disappointment, removing the hot towel from the latter’s forehead. “I told you that running around without a coat during a snowy day was not a good idea, why do you never listen to me?”

The dark-haired man grumbled, denying how great it felt to be taken care of. “You aren’t the boss of me Dream, I can do whatever I want and that includes what you just said-“

“Right, but of course, I’m still the one who has to take care of the mess you’ve caused.” He rolled his eyes as another towel was placed on Nightmare’s face. “However, you’re the one who is going to pay the consequences, open your mouth.”

Nightmare raised an eyebrow at that. “Wh—“ He was rudely cut off by a spoon being shoved in his mouth, not expecting that, he almost choked.

“You better swallow all of it without throwing up again because I refuse to clean that kind of a mess. Plus the medicine’s only useful if consumed In its entirety.” Dream calmly stated while squeezing the last towel out of water. He royally ignored Nightmare’s dramatic dying noises.

“Now that my job here is done, I’m going to go to sleep. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He stood up, picking up everything he brought on the way.

“Wait!” Nightmare grabbed his wrist and temporarily had a desperate glint in his eyes. Dream blinked and it was gone.

“What is it?” All of Nightmare’s confidence was thrown out of the window-

“Uh…” Oh shit, what do I do- I mean Ugh, might as well- “That may sound silly but could you stay? Just for tonight?”

A little silence followed his question, the longer it lasted the more he began doubting his decision. He was psychologically preparing himself to be made fun of.

“Okay.”

“That was stupid, I’m sor— Wait what?” He looked at his friend with eyes as wide as planets, did he hear that right?

He watched as the other boy went to get another pillow before going under the covers with him with disbelief.

“However, if you kick me in your sleep again you owe me 5 bucks.”

“But what if you catch my cold?—“

“That’s a problem for us in the future.” Dream mumbled, eyes already closing.

A little while later, Nightmare could hear Dream’s slow and quiet breathing, indicating he was sleeping. He turned around to stare at the other, and grumbled under his breath about how it should be illegal to look this good.

He snuggled closer to him, wrapping his arms around the other’s torso. That felt nice. He tried to ignore his flaming cheeks and fell asleep listening to the other’s heartbeat.

Nightmare woke up hearing a loud thud in the room, as his mind cleared, he became aware of his housemate’s absence-

“You owe me five bucks, Nightmare…”
