In the "Danny not knows au" If he gets vivisected, as Danny he would have a irrational fear every time he is close to his parents.

He would have nightmares screaming at shadows that looks so familiar to stay away, he would tremble and cry asking for mercy and He. Doesn't. Know. Why. He's so scared, he feels helpless, worse of everything is that he wants his parents to save him, he wants his big strong dad to hug him in one a his bear hugs, he wants his mom to kiss and tell sweet nothings, but every single time his dad arms feel like steel rope trapping in place, his mom voice get distorted and he can only hear treats and insults. It every day gets worse to the point that just seeing them is enough to make him nauseus.

Jazz has to intervened if is before she knows she would suspect that is because Danny is relating his accident to his parents, transforming them in monsters because deep down he blames them for his pain. If is after she would probably be the one to found him strapped in the table, she would be cold, she would tell his parents that in the moment she is of age she would take Danny and never look back.

The Fenton parents would be hurt either way the work of their is taking away their children, jazz was right, they need to divide their work and life, the laboratory is away but they still have talks of their inventions and research in the house. So they will wear normal clothes and stop talking about ghosts and their research, they will act as parents first, scientifics second.

Danny feels guilty because his parents for the first time are being normal, they go to his school reunion, help him with his homework, make normal meals, they talk about his and jazz hobbies, they are acting like he always wanted them to act but he still feels so terrified.

Is not better as Phantom, he knows exactly what the Ghost hunters did, the suffering and torment that he had gone by their hands, he knows that they want to destroy him and his kind, he should be mad, he should be angry he should want revenge but he just wants them safe, he wants to stay close, he wants to hug them and be huged, he wants the comfort of the ones that hurt him.

The Fenton see how the phantom acts, at first they think is a ghost scum act to make them defenseless, but after the time past and Danny stop getting close to them and jazz is inmersed in helping Danny. The stop seing Phantom the Ghost scum playing hero and start seing Phantom the lost ghost boy that just doing his best. And they start to study him this time just to know him better and when they discover that his only fourteen, that make them stop the shot first ask questions later. They try to get close, they apologize, but he still keeps away not matter how much he wants to be closer. When in one fight he gets trapped in a nightmare, they found him crying asking for his dad and mom for his big sister,and that truly broke them down. Phantom was a son, Phantom was a little brother, Phantom had a family. Phantom was barely fourteen before he died, Danny was fourteen and almost died.

guys I had this realization the other day that Redwall works really well for reading aloud, and kinda half-remembered something about the author reading to kids? So I looked it up to see if I had made a connection.

And it turns out, yes, actually, because he read aloud to kids at a school for the blind. But all the books they gave him to read were depressing. So he wrote Redwall, a story about heroism and courage and making it through struggles, and filled it with so many sensory, visual details so he could give them something better and I just-- that's so wholesome-- help

Jason knows that when he approaches kids in his entire get up that they're scared of him, and in crises that's... not great. So he's taken to carrying sticker books with him. He has enough pockets for it. He offers the kids stickers, and he lets them put the stickers on his helmet. He has dozens of Red Hood helmets now, all of them have an amalgamation of new and faded stickers.

The rest of the family tries to make fun of him for it, but Jason just holds out his sticker books like "You seem stressed, have a sticker."

One of my favourite fic tropes is “drugged and loopy on truth serum”.

Normally-stoic characters acting wildly out of character and professing the innermost feelings that canon has implied but is too chickenshit to address? Or fixing toxic canon dynamics because fuck it, fanfic is for dreamers?

Chef’s. Kiss. Mwah mwah mwah, mutherfucker.

Eg:

Bruce Wayne: “I love my sons so much. Even the large murdery one. He was just my tiny little guy, and now he’s so big and problematic but that’s just more to love.”

Or characters dropping absolutely horrific bombshells about canon traumas and giggling like a teenager drinking their first Bacardi.

Eg:
