hello (again) writeblr! i decided to make a new intro that has all my current wips on it, since i have way more than when i first started out on here.

about me

I go by Space, my pronouns are they/he, and I’m in my third decade of existence, which is absolutely wild. I’ve been writing for most of it, so I like to think I’m pretty decent

I write mostly fantasy and erotica (sometimes at the same time), both original and fanfiction, and all of it's queer

I love love loved seeing how r and James’ relationship is progressing and also getting to see Sirius and Remus interact even more with r adds a whole new level of warmth and individuality to the fic and, as previously mentioned, I loveee it<3 And also, as a shy girl (especially around attractive funny men, hello James potter) the way you write the way r navigates her way through different scenarios is so relatable and I’m here like yes!! I would do that too!! and I cheesy grin every single time! I would also like to add that the humour you add to your writing is so so understated and always so incredibly well timed and it’s honestly one of my favourite things about your writing in general (and that’s saying something!) and I don’t just mean dialogue I mean the little sentences after that? A one that really stuck with me is from asbh1 “James had, in fact, been demoted” hilarious, showstopping, wiped the floor with him, and I knew I was in for a great time! the best part of writing any marauder fanfic is getting to include the whole trio I swear I love it I love giving them fun sad backstory and codependency and best friendship, there’s nothing so fun as writing a friendship group with eroded boundaries of personal space and unlimited undefined love!! I’m using my past experiences as an insanely shy person and my current experiences as an introvert to fact check myself when it comes to how she’d act and I love that you like it! I love you. I would also like to add that I love you and you calling me funny has made my entire weekend lol 😭 I used to be much funnier growing up and then I sort of lost it all when I got into my permafunk so it genuinely means lots to me 😭😭 James is fun to write close third person for cos his internal thoughts I think would be super funny in the dry way!! When did you start to ship Kim and Jimmy on BCS? And why are they one of your favourite tv couples?

seven years is a long time from that first watch, so i'm not sure if i can totally pinpoint an initial when - it could easily be their very first scene in the parking garage, which i love SO much and tells us quite a lot about them with hardly any dialogue (they clearly already have a history and rapport, they don't even have to finish sentences to know what the other means, he doesn't hesitate to casually take her cigarette and there's an intimacy in that, like a prelude to a kiss, she fixes the trash can he attacks without second thought), it's perfectly lit and scored, they look like they've walked right out of a classic noir standing there together. i remember i immediately wanted to know more about her and about their relationship. but if it wasn't that moment, it was in hero. howard is extremely irked and (correctly) calls what jimmy did at the billboard "a damn stunt," and kim, looking up at the screen, back turned, smiles. it's tiny and fleeting, but it says everything. she knows it's a stunt too, but she's not mad about it. she's amused and fond and maybe even slightly proud in a very strange way. it establishes not only how she's his ally, but also that maybe there's a mischievous streak in her too. (this goes very badly for them later but! initially that's endearing and undoubtedly part of the attraction.)

i wrote a little off-the-cuff about them here (HOW did that post get so many notes?!), but something that appealed to me was always how very matched and grounded and REAL they felt. i'm a sappy romantic, i love a love story (happy or tragic), so it's easy to entice me with a dynamic that i enjoy, but something about jimmy and kim was really special in its approach. it isn't necessarily "epic" in that sense of grand gestures and dramatic swells of violins and world shifting kisses (not that there's anything wrong with any of that), it's something i've talked about before with their wedding. it's bare. there's no white tulle, no rose arches. and i'm a gowns and glitter kind of girl in many ways, but their lack of that made them so accessible to me, so...refreshing and honest. the thing that some people (*coughs at bird app*) complain about, the supposed lack of sexual chemistry, i see everywhere, and even prefer in the way they presented it. the way they gravitate towards one another and share glances and brush against each other just to touch, the way they're so obviously at home together. it's not ever objectified in the obvious way that romance is sometimes packaged for us. kim pushing him against the wall in the stairwell, her foot under the table, his hand on her shoulder in the hospital, the way he leans closer in to her, them companionably brushing their teeth and sharing meals and tending wounds, it's all so electric, but also has a sense of ease and tangibility. it's something in the fact that they're such different people on the surface - jimmy exuberant and talkative, kim restrained and listening, and yet underneath so matched and such complements. they have these pieces that fit together perfectly and form a whole. they're both fascinating characters individually, and together that dynamic is so alluring and touching to me. they've both lived with such lonely hearts and then find fulfillment with each other. it's something about it going beyond words and living in their expressions and unspoken language. it's something in always being on each other's side. their friendship itself is so connective that it makes their attraction and romantic love even richer. it's the way she's so loyal to him and wants to help him through pain, and the way he's so admiring of her and wants to give her a safe place to simply be. (and then we learned they would quite literally die and kill for each other and that is epitome, HEIGHT of Romantic, be still my heart.) it's the way no one else in the world truly sees them, for who they are and all they are, for all their good points and their ingenuity and their warmth, and in their flaws and shadows, and accepts and adores them even still.

bob said (of their final shared smoking scene, but it feels true throughout the story): "they can just exist next to each other. something that they very much like to do." there's something so beautiful and affecting in that to me. finding someone who is content simply to exist next to you. to be proud of you and love you, to stand by you, even at your darkest. to take your hand in front of filtered golden light. to lean quietly against a wall and be suffused with love, despite the pain and the trouble and the lost time, and just be glad you're there and alive with them. to spoil it all by saying something stupid like i love you, and then to heal it, and recognize it wasn't so stupid after all. it's another version of a flower blooming in the sands of the desert, even after devastating sacrifice. something true and delicate and alive remains. that kind of love is rare and precious. it's knowing you'll have that love for the rest of your life.

10. Has a piece of writing ever "haunted" you? has your own writing haunted you? what does that mean to you?

EM. YOU. yourself. come over here and ask if i am haunted?? yes, every day, by the image of shannon slipping mary's motorcycle helmet off her head. this:

i terms of other things i think the book of the outsider trilogy by Mark Lawrence is quite haunting, as a story. i find a lot of the poetry i read very haunting. but mostly it is lines like those above - moments of absolute intimacy shadowed by restraint. that line from harrow the ninth that goes "you were so afraid she might touch you. you were so afraid anyone might touch you. you had always been afraid of anyone touching you, and had not known your longing flinch was so obvious to those who tried."

my own writing... sometimes. when i write about sickness, certainly. that feels haunting. but mostly my own writing is when i let the ghosts fly out of the window.

17. talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. tell me about the lore, the history, the things that won't make it in the text.

as you well know i have about eight WIPs. but my actual novel really actually resonates with that very popular line from, again, tasmuir "love is too long and life is too short" but ah... kind of flipped. what happens when the life goes on and the love is there but not the beloved? the story started there, moved onto a dragon with a clockwork heart and a boy and the colour purple, of a very empty landscape and the very loud dead. naturally i have spider-people and none of my characters have bodies without a bit or the horrific or the angelic crammed into them (often both). the lore is a lot, but the story is about gods and spitting in the face of fate. it has Monster Hunter vibes and also a bit of Cormac McCarthy's the road (vast emptiness. two bodies inside it). it has all the things i like - horror and blood and intimacy. but yeah, the lore doc is a chonky boi.

22. how organised are you with your writing? describe to me your organisation method, if it exists.

my entire process involves the notes app on my phone and like three documents all called the same thing except lore 1, lore 2, lore 3 where i dump vomited-up fragments of sentences and half-baked ideas and then occasionally a 8000 word dump of pristine lore. i plot only inside my own brain. my masters thesis supervisor had to cut me open to get a plot outline from inside me, and it was all lies anyway. i am more of a character writer than a plot-specialist, but i feel like once i have My Guys and A Problem the story pretty much writes itself (and i'm so wrong about that). mostly i outline in my brain and then by writing random lines from the start, the midish, and the kind-of-end, and then i do linguistic gymnastics to reach those sentences. (and boy am i clumsy)

i type everything. writing with pen + paper is still not my favourite thing to do - still slow and a bit painful - so i prefer to type. i have calluses, in fact, from typing, which is really quite embarrassing.

ayeee so it's that time of year again!! i know i haven't posted much in 2022 (like... just a handful of fics oops) but i still hit a decent word count and made significant progress on long fic wips!

so yeahhh here's my 2022 fic summary which is... basically a chance to introduce my wips LOL

1. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or what you predicted?

a bit less!! it's about half as much as i wrote last year (which was a whooping 150k word count LMAO), but this range is already more than the average for me in any given year so it's not too bad. in terms of what i POSTED though... i have no excuse for that 😅 most of my word count is from wips/ideas so i didn't have any finished content to post

2. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?

last january i definitely didn't know i would write for svt!! i kind of had a feeling that deobiblr was already dying at the time, and that's around when i started watching going seventeen to get into them... but yeah didn't know i'd slip so deep into the carat life (blaming you, kim mingyu 😒)

3. What’s your own favourite story of the year?

it's a time loop au wip that i've written about 19k so far!! where our mc is stuck in a loop trying to change their fate of unrequited love by meeting [boy group member] first before his current gf does. so mc tries to alter events and change the course of fate all while trying to figure out a way to leave the loop

4. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

uhHHhhH the time loop au i suppose is a risk in itself... bc like... plotting it has been a complete pain when you're trying to consider multiple reruns of the same timeline. every detail has to be in the right place so that when the mc's actions change, we can directly see how that affects the events in the timeline

also writing domestic fluff like i did in best boy... can't say i enjoyed it but it was a good challenge!!

5. Do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?

hmm besides my two biggest wips i'd say it's this jogging au i wrote back in april!! where mc gets roped into a jogging date with [cute dating app boy] despite hating all kinds of exercise. it's definitely the typical jeongjaebae style of humour, secondhand embarrassment, and fluff. very fun to write and has me laughing every time i reread it LMAO

Story with the single sexiest moment:

probably the whole truth, the scene where they're making out in juyeon's room LMAO. srry i have no other contributions this year. BUT!!! my e2l wip has the full and extended scene from want so that's something to look forward to 👀

Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:

best boy. maybe it's not terrible but idk i haven't touched it since writing it bc i hate it 🤡 domestic fluff is... not my cup of tea. i suppose it was a good writing challenge tho. maaaaybe i'll write it one day but... needs a bit more practice

hmm maybe 1 plus 1? writing it made me obsessed with the (og) guy in it and he shot way up my bias list. and like. i'm still in that phase rn LOL

oh boy it's deffs the time loop au. still stuck on the plot tbh? there's just so much planning and then... the thought of it reaching 50k or something... makes me tired OTL. it's exciting to think about but at the same time, there are way too many details i still have to write. it's a bit of a struggle

surprise surprise who knew i would be writing for svt?!? and the one piece of angst that i wrote: all that we are

let's go with the whole truth. i loved some of the concepts and moral lessons in there, like how we're not made to be someone else's object of desire. why should we exist to be beautiful to others? and the other part about how love is deeper than what an app can tell us.

When he pulls back and you see the fondness in his eyes, you realize that maybe the two of you aren't so different. He may have been an asshole, but you'd pretty much been one too. You were insanely competitive but only so that you could match up to his level. And even though it took a while for you to understand your feelings for him, now you know that he's felt the same way all along. Indeed, the two of you are more similar than you think. But then again, it takes one to know one.

The two of you don't talk about, but it's all too evident anyway. It's evident when you lean into him as the night gets colder, head against the crook of his shoulder, and then in the way he shifts so that his lips meet yours. It's evident in the way he kisses you, with the sweetest of a first kiss, the bitterness of a last kiss, and the constancy of making the same choice in every loop, every timeline, every lifetime.

18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it. How it changed from start to end.

Ooooh it's so hard to choose! So this is one of my favourite moments in Please Don't See Me.

Remus studies the old, Gothic fountain as he blindly feels his way through sentences. “Earlier, you asked me what my world is, and I guess… most of the time I feel like I don’t really have one. Here, I feel like an imposter, with hedges, I feel like this weird Wizarding Society reject, with non-magical people... I feel like a freak. Or a monster.”

“You’re not a monster!” Sirius objects, a knee-jerk reaction. “Or any of those other things!” he adds quickly as Remus laughs.

“What I mean is… every version of me feels a bit… fake. And when I try to figure out who I am underneath it all, I… I don’t know...”

Sirius thinks for a moment. “What if they’re all real?” he asks finally. “What if you can be many different things, and even if they don’t fit together or make sense as a whole, that doesn’t mean they’re not you.”

Remus, of course, doesn’t know that Sirius isn’t actually talking about him—at least not entirely.

And most people—but Remus, especially—tend to be much harsher on themselves than they’d ever be on somewhere else.

“I don’t know… It seems like a slippery slope, sectioning off parts of yourself like that. Like you could just shove all the bad stuff into one part just so you can trick everyone into believing you’re a good person… trick yourself even…”

He thinks he’s calling himself out on his tendency to attribute all the darkest parts of himself to the wolf, when in reality, the wolf only acts on instinct; it’s the human part of himself who acts from a place of hurt, spite, malice. It’s the human who’s selfish, who deceives people, who overcomplicates everything.

He thinks being critical of himself will stop him from hurting people, but it’s this very criticism that quite literally slices Sirius in two.

I don't think I'd really planned this scene beforehand. For some context, Sirius has been keeping a secret that he's about to reveal, and I knew I needed Remus to say something that would make that revelation no longer feel safe.

But of course Remus isn't going to be directly cruel to Sirius (I mean maybe in the heat of a fight, but not in this moment). He is, on the other hand, often cruel to himself.

And it really got me thinking about how being too self-critical can not only be damaging to you but to the people around you. And to me, the crux of wolfstar is two characters sharing this existential fear about the darkness at their core. It what draws them together, but it's also one of their biggest pitfalls because they sort of need to accept their own darkness to accept each other's.

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

I used to be far more organised than I am now, and I would plan everything out in notebooks. It was intensely satisfying, but as I've gotten more confident in my writing, I've moved from a plotting to a planting style, so I tend to just have a vague idea of what's going to happen in my head, and then I see what unfolds on the page.

I do still love using notebooks in theory, but honestly, if there's any research or world-building info that I need to have on hand, I'll just throw it at the bottom of the same Word doc I'm writing in. Or I'll pop a few stray thoughts in my notes app.

A Complete Guide To Becoming Conversational In French

I’m basing this off of this post I wrote a while back, as well as my own experiences. I’ll also copy one of my other posts onto here for the beginner section. Also, check out this post to see what level you are at and where you need to begin. 

Beginner (A0 to A1)

I would recommend studying this amazing pronunciation guide by @frenchy-french. Then, I would recommend that you start shadowing and speaking. Try shadowing (i.e. repeat what is being said after the speaker) a beginners podcast like FrenchPod101 (paid) or Coffee Break French (free).

You can try using an app to learn some basic vocabulary. Duolingo and Memrise are my personal favourites. You can also use Drops if you don’t want to translate vocabulary. Try using it daily (it’ll take at most 5 minutes a day).

Complete an online course or textbook. Here is an article with some recommendations for textbooks. Here is a link to a drive full of textbooks, where you will surely find something for French (credit to @salvadorbonaparte for providing this resource). As for online courses, here is a list of some places to find courses: Open Culture, Class central, Effective Language Learning and Loecson.

Make a native friend and start texting them. You can go on r/Language Exchange, or text them on HelloTalk or Tandem. You could also find a buddy on a language discord. Remember to be safe, and not reveal any private information. Look up words as you go, and try texting only in French the whole time. Start doing this as early as possible. Once you have become more confident texting and/or sending voice messages, try a phone call. You can also practice speaking using HiLokal.

Memorise some basic vocabulary and grammar. This post by @frenchy-french is the best for this. For vocabulary, you can use flashcards (like Anki, Quizlet and Memrise). Also, try Kwiziq for grammar.

Immerse. For now, try listening to lots of music, and watch a bunch of fun YouTube videos (like the ones by Cyprien, and Montreaux Comedy). Also, use the language filter on AO3 to look up fanfiction in French. Switch your phone’s language to French, and follow a bunch of French people on social media.

Beginner to intermediate (A1 to B1)

At this level, I would suggest using a textbook or online course. The ones I mentioned earlier might be helpful. Personally, I used GCSE textbooks. I used this Studio 9-1 textbook (good for practicing skills), and this CGP textbook (good for grammar and vocabulary, lots of practice questions). It’s also worth checking out Z-library to see if you can find something for free.

Try working through a grammar book. My personal favourite is the Practice Makes Perfect Complete French Grammar textbook (you can probably find it on Z-library). If you don’t want to use a grammar book though, the second season of Coffee Break French is good too (or you could use it to consolidate your knowledge). Do practice questions if you want, or maybe make a cheat sheet. Don’t forget to use what you learn in your writing and speaking!

Expand your basic vocabulary. You can use a course on Memrise (here is the one I used) or find some vocabulary lists online to learn (the GCSE specification is great to choose topics). You can use flashcards (like Quizlet and Anki), columns or association: whatever works for you. After you have learnt the ones you need for general communication (the GCSE specification might be a good guide for this), I would suggest learning some vocabulary lists about topics that interest you in particular. As well as this, generally try to learn vocabulary you encounter when reading and writing. Remember to use example sentences when learning vocabulary!

Do you remember those speaking buddies you were meant to meet earlier? Well, keep speaking with them. If you’re nervous, try to memorise some set phrases and questions to keep the conversation going. Don’t be afraid to ask someone to slow down, or speak more clearly. Do it as often as you can. You can also continue texting your buddies too. Again, try and stay safe. 

Continue to immerse using the methods that I mentioned earlier. You can try watching films and TV shows with English or French subtitles, but I doubt that they will be helpful at this stage. Personally, I read fanfiction, (usually translations of my favourite fics) articles and watched YouTube videos. The articles and YouTube videos were often meant to offer advice about things, since self-help stuff is often quite simple. Just a quick tip. 

Watch children’s shows in your target language. Shows like Peppa Pig and the little princess would be good. Just get used to the sounds of the language.

Find a guided reader, or learners exercises (like Lingua), and read them. Also, you could try reading these short stories (recommendations by @frenchy-french).

Shadow Easy French (i.e. repeat what is being said, and imitate the intonation and accent).

Try keeping a journal in French. Every day, just write two or three sentences in the language. For some ideas about what to write, here is a wonderful set of questions by @myhoneststudyblr.

Engage with intermediate French content. I like InnerFrench, RFI: Savoirs, Piece of French and FrenchPod101. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t understand much at first.

Intermediate to conversational (B1 to B2)

Listen to intermediate French podcasts and youtube videos like the ones that I mentioned earlier. Here is an article which lists some good intermediate podcasts. You can also just look up “intermediate french listening practice” and find some good stuff. Try listening without a transcript at first, and then read and listen at the same time.

Continue shadowing native material. Once again, I recommend Easy French for this.

Try watching TV shows and films. Here are some recommendations for TV shows. You can also watch things you’ve seen already dubbed in French, like Disney films. Also, you can use a platform like LingoPie (if you have the funds - I highly recommend it if you do). Make sure that what you choose is not too difficult, and that there is no needless jargon or complex language.

Try to keep a journal in French. Just write about your day, and also your various thoughts and opinions on certain topics. You can also try writing reviews for books and movies, and record vocabulary from there. For some entries, type them up and post them on Journaly for corrections.

Speak with your speaking buddies! Try and learn how to speak around words (i.e. learn how to describe the meaning of the word you are looking for if you can’t remember it). 

Work through a grammar book. Keep doing the practice questions, and actively use what you learn in your speaking and writing.

Read articles, fanfiction and books. For articles, I can recommend Le Monde and Liberation. It’s good to keep up with what is going on in France, so give it a shot. For books, I would suggest reading translations of books that you have already read in your native language (this also applies to fanfiction if there is a translation available). Here are some recommendations for native French books. Pick something you like and go for it! As for fanfiction, here is how to filter languages on AO3 and WattPad.

Watch YouTube videos in French. Here are some youtubers you might want to check out.

Watch the news in French. I personally use FranceInter and TV5monde.

Write short stories and essays in French. Perhaps try lifting phrases and vocabulary from books and fanfiction you read? If you write an essay, make it about a topical issue like abortion or the role of family in society (here are some topics for intermediate essay topics). Also, here are some essay phrases. 

Needless to say, you will have to continue learning French vocabulary using whichever methods you prefer. Perhaps you can explore @frenchy-french’s vocabulary tag?

you know love doesn't exist; from the way your favourite celebrity couple would act so love-dovey then break up. to the moment your father walked out of the door when you were five and to the sound of cries your mother releases whenever her new boyfriend leaves her.

nevertheless, you still tried. even going places to meet new people, trying out apps to see if there’s someone out there who can give you the love you need. and you found someone.

that someone is park jisung, well, was. you met him in the review academy you applied to. he was nice, gentle and sweet. just like how you want it to be. though, how-ever nice it might sound to love and to be loved by someone, it can sometimes be suffocating.

and now, you're here at the bar trying to figure out how to forget about your asshole ex boyfriend who cheated on you. you knew that he was a liar when he told you that you're his muse. that whole piece of shit had been sketching different girls from his academy since day one, but you chose to turn a blind eye.

why? perhaps you also hope to find the answer to that question. maybe you don't believe in love. but you just like the idea of being in love. not really in love but in love. like the feeling of someone caring for you, looking after you and such.

because having someone as your so-called significant other has made you feel better and happier in life. but it's probably the right time to stop that delusion. you know damn well there's no amount of love that can solve your real problem.

you sarcastically laugh at yourself sipping the glass of liquor in front of you. who cares if you need to attend university tomorrow? you can’t even care less.

enjoying your time alone, you almost jumped out of your chair when someone touched your shoulder. you looked at the man, wearing a black shirt with a vest on top of it.

you’ve never seen this man so you looked him straight in the eye planning to ask him what he needed but you can’t seem to form a word. getting lost into his dreamy eyes, who seems to hold a thousand words.

“sorry.” he removed his hand on your shoulder saying, “can i sit here?” he asked as he sat on the chair beside yours.

you looked at him, trying to hold a smile, “but you’re already sitting there.” you told him.

he softly laughed and flashed a bright smile, his eyes lit up and smiled in usion. “right.” wetting his lips before speaking again, “so, are you here alone?”

you look around before answering, “i guess so. unless you can see someone i can’t.” he laughed a little before a silence came in. he just looked at you while you stared right back at him.

trying to break the awkwardness you ask him, “how about you?” he sighs before saying, “well, i was about to see someone. but they cancelled.” while he looks at his back, you notice a tattoo on his nape.

“cool, you have a tat?” you commented. trying to start a conversation. “oh you noticed.” he scratched the back of his head, “do you want to see it?”

your eyes widen for his sudden suggestion, “i-is it okay to see it?” widely smiling, he answers “of course.” before turning his back at you.

you stood up and came closer to his back to have a better view, “wow. it’s pretty.” you complimented, still left with your mouth agape. you hear him chuckle, “thanks.”

not knowing what to do next, you sat back down on your chair and took a sip from your glass. seeing how uneasy you were, the guy suggested, “wanna play some arcade?” you took a second before nodding your head.

thinking, there wouldn’t be a problem. after all, he is just a stranger and this is just like one of those nights. the two of you walked into the arcade, the first game that caught your eye was the fishing one.

but after realizing that the game was boring and plain, you went into the punch machine, “do you want any of those?” the man asked you, pointing at one of the prizes.

“i mean, i would love the little bear.” you answered, pointing at the bear you wanted. “okay, the little bear it is.” he put the tokens into the machine and started to give it a powerful punch.

“oh!” you exclaimed as the numbers exceeded eight hundred. “ah!!” you jumped out of joy when the score turned out to be nine hundred forty. he got you the bear that you wanted and you hugged him out of reflex.

when you realized what you just did, you quickly break free from the hug, trying to fix your clothes. “sorry, i got a little excited.” you apologized.

he shakes his head no saying, “it’s okay. i liked it if i’m one to be honest.” you didn’t really hear what he said after but you just shrugged him off, dragging him into the next arcade you see.

the night didn’t feel long as it is because you enjoyed it. you never expected to spend this whole night with a stranger but it turned out better than expected. you both enjoyed the games, dancing in the just dance machine and even played sniper.

after using all of your energy in the arcade, you’re now standing in a quiet alleyway a little far from people. “that was fun.” you said, trying to catch your breath.

you rummage through your handbag and look for your handkerchief. hidden from your knowledge, you have dropped your university i.d. to the ground. luckily, the guy sees it and picks it up right after he hands you a bottle of water.

after thanking him, you began drinking and after, you threw the bottle into the bin. while you’re walking your way back to him, he quickly picks up your i.d. the normal thing a person would do was to give it back

but he didn’t. instead, he kept it in his pocket and acted like nothing happened. once you’re in front of him, he holds your wrist.

you were taken aback by his sudden action but you see him draw a butterfly in it. so you decided to tell him, “you really like butterflies, huh.” he blew soft air into the drawing to make sure it dries.

“i do, yes.” he answers. “i actually raise some.” he added, shocked as you were, “really?!” he nods his head, yes.

“do you wanna go see my butterflies?” he asked. and that single sentence was enough to turn your stomach up-side-down. not really sure what to say, you just looked at him in the eye.

a second or two passes before he slowly leans in for a kiss, you close your eyes and try to back away when someone suddenly says, “can i borrow a cigar?” you see a girl from behind.

the man slowly fixes his posture and searches through his pocket. only to see a box of cigarette with only one stick left. he looked at you first like he’s asking for your permission but you decided to excuse yourself, “i’ll need to go to the powder room.” you awkwardly smiled at him.

as you make your way to the bathroom, the man gives the girl his last piece of cigar. the woman tried to flirt with him so he reciprocated the action. and he flirts back with the girl.

walking back, you see him smile at the girl. you knew this was wrong, but seeing him flash it to others made you realize how dumb it was to even think this was a start for something.

you throw the teddy he won for you in the garbage and walk away, not saying anything. hoping to never cross paths again with the guy who gave you butterflies the second you met each other's eyes.

How To Fight Writers Block

hello, hello. hope everyone is doing well. as you can all tell, this post will be about how to fight writers block.

it’s really annoying to me when I hear people say “oh you don’t have writers block, you’re just lazy.”

first of all, yes, I am naturally lazy. second of all, how dare you. writing isn’t as easy as many think. granted, all you have to do is write down words on paper, but it’s not always easy to find the right words to express what you are feeling, or what you wish to say.

I have had terrible writer’s block for the last few days and it’s horrible! as a business owner or a small writing store, I have to be ready to write and fulfill my clients’ ideas and orders.

it’s not easy. It takes a heavy toll on my imagination, and digs me a deep pit of blockage, drowning in the lack of originality because of the constant writing and repetition or certain phrases and sentences in different projects.

i am making this post in the hopes to remind myself about over coming the dreaded and sometimes skeptically believed writer’s block.

What is writer’s block?

Yeah, I know. We all know what that is, but let me define it.

is the state of being unable to proceed with writing, and/or the inability to start writing something new

some people believe it to be a real problem, others believe it's “all in your head”

What Causes Writer’s Block?

in the 1970s, clinical psychologists Jerome Singer and Michael Barrios decided to find out

they concluded that there are four broad causes of writer's block:

Excessively harsh self-criticism

Fear of comparison to other writers

Lack of external motivation, like attention and praise

Lack of internal motivation, like the desire to tell one's story

How to overcome writer's block: 20 tips

1. Develop a writing routine:

Author and artist Twyla Tharp once wrote: “Creativity is a habit, and the best creativity is a result of good work habits.”

it might seem counterintuitive

if you only write when you “feel creative,” you're bound to get stuck in a tar pit of writer's block

The only way to push through is by disciplining yourself to write on a regular schedule. It might be every day, every other day, or just on weekends — but whatever it is, stick to it!

2. Use "imperfect" words:

A writer can spend hours looking for the perfect word or phrase to illustrate a concept

You can avoid this fruitless endeavor by putting, “In other words…” and simply writing what you’re thinking, whether it’s eloquent or not

You can then come back and refine it later by doing a CTRL+F search for “in other words.”

3. Do non-writing activities:

one of the best ways to climb out of a writing funk is to take yourself out of your own work and into someone else’s

Go to an exhibition, to the cinema, to a play, a gig, eat a delicious meal

immerse yourself in great STUFF and get your synapses crackling in a different way

Snippets of conversations, sounds, colors, sensations will creep into the space that once felt empty

4. Freewrite through it:

free-writing involves writing for a pre-set amount of time without pause — and without regard for grammar, spelling, or topic. You just write.

The goal of freewriting is to write without second-guessing yourself — free from doubt, apathy, or self-consciousness, all of which contribute to writer's block. Here’s how:

Find the right surroundings. Go somewhere you won't be disturbed.

Pick your writing utensils. Will you type at your computer, or write with pen and paper? (Tip: if you're prone to hitting the backspace button, you should freewrite the old-fashioned way!)

Settle on a time-limit. Your first time around, set your timer for just 10 minutes to get the feel for it. You can gradually increase this interval as you grow more comfortable with freewriting.

5. Relax on your first draft:

Many writers suffer form perfectionism, which is especially debilitating during a first draft

“Blocks often occur because writers put a lot of pressure on themselves to sound ‘right’ the first time. A good way to loosen up and have fun again in a draft is to give yourself permission to write imperfectly.” — editor Lauren Hughes

perfect is the enemy of good,” so don't agonize about getting it exactly right! You can always go back and edit, maybe even get a second pair of eyes on the manuscript

6. Don’t start at the beginning:

the most intimidating part of writing is the start, when you have a whole empty book to fill with coherent words

instead of starting with the chronological beginning of whatever it is you’re trying to write, dive into middle, or wherever you feel confident

7. Take a shower:

Have you ever noticed that the best ideas tend to arrive while in the shower, or while doing other “mindless” tasks?

research shows that when you’re doing something monotonous (such as showering, walking, or cleaning), your brain goes on autopilot, leaving your unconscious free to wander without logic-driven restrictions

showering is my favourite thing to do if I may add

8. Balance your inner critic:

successful writers have in common is the ability to hear their inner critic, respectfully acknowledge its points, and move forward

You don't need to completely ignore that critical voice, nor should you cower before it

you must establish a respectful, balanced relationship, so you can address what's necessary and skip over what's insecure and irrelevant

9. Switch up your tool:

a change of scenery can really help with writer's block. However, that scenery doesn't have to be your physical location — changing up your writing tool can be just as big a help!

if you’ve been typing on your word processor of choice, try switching to pen and paper. Or if you're just sick of Google Docs, consider using specialized novel writing software.

10. Change your POV:

great advice from editor Lauren Hughes: “When blocked, try to see your story from another perspective ‘in the room’ to help yourself move beyond the block. How might a minor character narrate the scene if they were witnessing it? A ‘fly on the wall’ or another inanimate object?

11. Exercise your creative muscles:

Any skill requires practice if you want to improve, and writing is no different! So if you’re feeling stuck, perhaps it’s time for a strengthening scribble-session to bolster your abilities

12. Map out your story:

If your story has stopped chugging along, help it pick up steam by taking a more structured approach — specifically, by writing an outline

13. Write something else:

Though it's important to try and push through writer's block with what you're actually working on, sometimes it's simply impossible

feel free to push your current piece to the side for now and write something new

14. Work on your characters:

It follows that if your characters are not clearly defined, you’re more likely to run into writer’s block

15. Stop writing for readers:

write for yourself, not your potential readers

this will help you reclaim the joy of being creative and get you back in touch with what matters: the story.

this is something I really need to do. because of my etsy business i don't write for fun anymore, but instead as a business and a deadline. i'm going to have to pull out my old crappy wattled fanfics or write some new ones.

16. Try a more visual process:

when words fail you, forget them and get visual. Create mind maps, drawings, Lego structures — ideally related to your story, but whatever unblocks your mind!

17. Look for the root of it:

writer’s block often comes from a problem deeper than simple “lack of inspiration.” So let's dig deep: why are you really blocked? Ask yourself the following questions:

Do I feel pressure to succeed and/or competition with other writers?

Have I lost sight of what my story is about, or interest in where it's going?

Do I lack confidence in my own abilities, even if I've written plenty before?

Have I not written for so long that I feel intimidated by the mere act?

Am I simply feeling tired and run-down?

once you identify what's wrong, it'll be so much easier to fix.

18. Quit the Internet:

If willpower isn’t your strong suit and your biggest challenge is staying focused, try a site blocker like Freedom or an app like Cold Turkey

19. Let the words find you:

meditate, go for a walk, take that shower

Word Palette is a great app that features a keyboard of random words, allowing you to simply click your way to your next masterpiece.

You can also try AI auto-completers like Talk to Transformer, where you can enter a phrase and let the app “guess what comes next.”

even though they often produce nonsense, it's a great way to help that writer's block.

20. Write like Hemingway:

And if your biggest block is your own self-doubt about your prose, Hemingway offers suggestions to improve your writing as you go

it's a pretty cool app if you ask me.

it highlights your sentences (if need be) and makes suggestions on how to improve them!

well, there you have it! a lengthy post on how to fight writer's block. now i just hope i can combat my own soon.

Intertwined Fates (Chilumi/Zhonglumi) - Chapter 5

Yea so... uhm... I may or may have been addicted to anime during vacation and the next thing I knew, uni started again and uhm... we're a month in now... So much for me promising to be active in writing smh...

SUMMARY:

Plans don't always go the way it is

Lumine can’t help but smile as Qiqi’s laughter filled their living room. Her heart can’t help but melt at the sight of her future husband, and her father pretends to be monsters and make fool of themselves to entertain the little girl. Lumine can’t help but chuckle to herself, her daughter completely has these powerful men wrapped around her little fingers.

“A beach wedding is such a wonderful idea, Lumine! Your aunties and I have founded these locations so far, if they’re not to your liking, just tell me, okay? Your mother will make sure to make your dream wedding happen!” her mother beamed beside her as she splayed out the pictures of potential beach locations on the coffee table in front of them.

Never did Lumine thought there will come a time when her mother and herself will bond like this. Upon confirming their engagement, her mother had been ecstatic; messaging Lumine all potential wedding ideas she can, even creating a board on Pinterest.

While it may be annoying to Lumine, she can’t deny that she’s excited herself. She gently shrugged her mother off at first, claiming that she’s busy with work, but one boring evening when Ajax was busy fixing something at work in his home office, the blonde woman opened the app to see what her mother is up to. She looked through the grand ideas her mother had pinned, they were mostly wedding dresses and accessories. The more Lumine browses, the more her mind starts imagining a wedding scenario, and the next thing she knows, she’s saving beach wedding-related pins and a phone call from her mother popped out of her screen.

Ajax joined mid-conversation and was surprised, and secretly elated that his bride also shares the same excitement of them officially tying the knot.

Never did Ajax thought he would be so invested in wedding planning, he’s more invested in the honeymoon part, but after listening to his fiancée and soon to be mother-in-law for a while, he can’t help but fall in love with the beach wedding idea and started looking at ideas on his own phone, which granted him a collaboration in the Pinterest board they’re working on.

After a promise of her mother looking for venues, the two-hour conversation ended with an excited soon to be wed couple.

A few days after that night, Lumine can’t help but think of her grand day every time she has the chance to. She had been bright during work, always humming softly as she works. Her glow had affected everyone in the bakery, even Xiao who smiled softly and even suggested something for the wedding cake, which Aether will be in charge of.

It surprised the twins, making them stare at Xiao long enough for the said man to be embarrassed and murmured something to forget about it until Lumine expressed her delight at the idea.

The original idea was a beach-themed cake, with the usual sand-like crumbs and seashells. Xiao instead suggested a baby blue coloured cake with frosting smudged on the cake to look like waves.

The day then ended with Xiao and Aether presenting a drawing of their combined ideas, Aether adding some white roses to complete the look.

Lumine is in love with it.

“Have you two decided on the wedding date yet by the way?” her mother pulled her out of her thoughts.

“Well, we’re thinking a sunny Summer wedding will be nice? It fits the whole beach wedding theme, and coincidentally, that’s the time Ajax and I will don’t have to worry much about work.” Lumine answered, “It’s also going to be Qiqi’s first Summer at the beach.” she smiled at the scene last night, Qiqi’s eyes wide and curious as Ajax talks about the beach.

Qiqi had never been a huge fan of being under the sun, always preferring to stay under the shade, but from the looks of last night, her daughter seemed to be willing to give it a try, the seashell hunting and castle building especially.

Her mother took note of it on her phone, “Got it, now go ahead and look at these locations, I’ll contact them as soon as we get home.” she smiled.

Lumine hummed as she looked at the potential venues, they look great to Lumine so far, she appreciates the notes her mother stick with the pictures showcasing what each location is known and loved for.

She’s really invested in it, and Lumine wonders where all this energy is when it was her and Zhongli-

Before she could dwell on the thought, she shook her head, gaining a curious look from her mother.

“Sorry, something caught in my eye.” she shrugged it off while pretending to rub her eyes.

She went over the venues again, she managed to pick her top 3 favourites before calling for her groom to be, “Ajax, can you help me choose between these?”

The scene before her paused with Qiqi laughing as she pretends to fly as Ajax holds her up while her grandfather pretends to catch her.

“Sure, wanna help Mama and Papa choose the wedding venues, Qiqi?” Ajax cooed before sitting next to Lumine, putting Qiqi on his lap.

“Yes, Qiqi wants lots of seashells.” the little girl replied as she looked at the pictures.

“I’m sure all of them have lots of seashells, dear.” her grandmother chuckled.

Her mother is right, so it doesn’t really narrow down Lumine’s options, “How about you?” she asked Ajax, intertwining her fingers with his.

Ajax hummed, giving Lumine’s hand a kiss as he looked at the options, Qiqi giggled and offered her own hand, to which Ajax chuckled and give it a light kiss as well before ruffling her hair.

“They’re all good to me.” he shrugged.

“Ah, as helpful as your father was when we were planning our wedding.” her mother joked.

“Hey, I just trust your taste more than mine.” her father defended as he sat next to his wife.

Ajax was about to use the same excuse, but Lumine glared at him, “Don’t you dare.”

He raised his hands in defence, “Alright how about this, we close our eyes and let fate pick?”

Lumine raised an eyebrow.

“What? They’re your top 3 favourites, right? And we can’t choose, so why not give it a try?” Ajax shrugged.

Lumine sighed but agree, “Well, why not?”

With their hands together, they closed their eyes.

Their parents can’t help but laugh, Qiqi giggling in anticipation as she waits for the answer.

Their fingers grabbed a picture.

They opened their eyes,

‘Cool Isle’, it read.

“Qiqi wants beach wedding too,” Qiqi says, effectively freezing Ajax from cooking.

Lumine snickered from the table, watching and waiting for the man’s reaction. It was almost dinner time when her parents left, so they decided to hang out in the kitchen while Ajax prepares their meal, Qiqi’s colouring on her notebook while Lumine decided to just randomly film themselves. It’s a thing that she loves to do, documenting some of their lives to look back to in the future, and now looks like an interesting memory to laugh at someday.

Ajax turned to them with a tight smile, “No.”

Qiqi pouted, “Why not?”

“Because you’re my baby Qiqi and you’ll be forever, therefore, you’re not allowed to get married,” Ajax explained, pouting when he saw Lumine snickering with no intention of stopping their daughter from her terrifying plan.

“But why?”

“You’ll get three storytimes later if you promise not to get married.”

“Four!”

“Deal. You got that on camera right, love?” Ajax turned to Lumine.

“Oh my god.” Lumine laughed but nodded, “Yeah, I did.”

“You heard that yourself future Qiqi,” Ajax said at the camera.

“Four stories, yay!” the little girl hummed, bouncing lightly as she coloured.

The rest of the evening went quietly, they do their routines, Qiqi falling asleep midway through her first story, and now Ajax and Lumine are cuddling on their bed, the blonde having her back against her lover’s chest while his hands trace random shapes on her hip.

“What are you thinking about?” Lumine asked as she turned to face Ajax.

“Just you walking down the aisle dressed like the goddess you are.” he grinned.

“Really now?” Lumine raised an eyebrow, but Ajax can still see the smile she’s hiding.

“Well, trying to imagine what’s underneath the dress but it doesn’t sound as romantic now, does it?” Ajax teased, earning a playful smack from Lumine.

“It sounds more honest at least,” she retorted back with a playful smile.

“Now I can’t stop thinking of it…”

Lumine can feel something poking her leg, “Stop, it’s a surprise!” she huffed.

“That doesn’t help, love, now I’m more curious.” he groaned as he buried his face against her neck.

“There’s a reason why it’s called a surprise, you know.” Lumine rolled her eyes but still tilted her head to give him space.

“A small preview would be nice though…” he said suggestively before giving her neck a soft nibble.

“Hm, I guess a small sneak peek is fi-”

Lumine didn’t get the chance to finish her sentence for her fiancé just dived in for his meal.

“Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day, little Qiqi wants to play…” Qiqi sang softly as she traces the raindrops on the car window.

“It looks like it’ll be raining for the whole day.” Lumine observed the sky, “Qiqi, if it’s still raining when school’s done, just stay over Granny Shan’s toy store and I’ll pick you up, okay?”

“Can Qiqi have a new toy?” Qiqi gasped in excitement.

“If you’re a good girl for Granny Shan, then Papa will buy you one.” Ajax chuckled at the sparkle in Qiqi’s eyes.

Qiqi nodded before humming again, this time, livelier as she starts to think of what toy she would want.

“It’s nice we have someone to watch over Qiqi, we might be a little busy today since we’re in charge of the sweets for an event. I’ll make sure to bring Granny Shan something when I pick Qiqi up.” Lumine says as she looked at the notes on her phone to prepare for today.

“I’m sure she’ll appreciate that, babe.” Ajax hummed as he slowed the car in front of Qiqi’s school rather than the bakery, “Fix your raincoat, sweetie, Papa will walk you to school.” he said then waited for the little girl to follow his order.

“Give Mama a kiss and have fun at school, okay?” Lumine smiled.

“Okay! Qiqi’s gonna do her bestest!” the little girl responded before giving Lumine a kiss.

Ajax prepared the umbrella before stepping out of the car to get his daughter.

Lumine hummed and waited in the car. She looked at the toy store across the street, “It looks like they’re opening.” she said as she watches someone in a raincoat and an umbrella try to push up the display barrier to reveal the contents of the shop.

Granny Shan did say someone was helping her run the shop, “Someone looking for his family, huh.” she remembered the old woman saying, though she didn’t get any more information than that, though she did remember the man being nice to Qiqi and buying her a present.

Lumine should also bring him something as a thank you later.

The car door opening pulled Lumine’s attention from the employee.

“Qiqi has her umbrella, right?” Lumine asked.

“Yup, I made sure she didn’t forget it this time,” Ajax answered as he settled inside the car, “Alright, let’s go,” he said as he drove off.

Zhongli sighed as he shrugs his raincoat off and placing it on the coat rack together with the umbrella. He’s glad he stopped Granny Shan from going outside to open the shop herself. It was a bit tough even for him to push the barriers up with the wind trying to blow his umbrella away, he doesn’t want to imagine how dangerous it would’ve been for her.

“I hope it won’t be raining as much later.” the old woman hummed as she observed the weather.

“The weather news said it’ll be raining but it would be lighter than this,” Zhongli said as he went on about his duties.

“Well, either way, Qiqi would be waiting here, her mother will pick her up later.” Granny Shan said, “Which is nice cause I would love to give her something for their wedding.”

“Wedding?” Zhongli raised his eyebrow.

“Ah yes, turns out the couple isn’t married yet. Qiqi isn’t biologically the groom’s but she was raised by him when her father died from an accident.” the woman explained.

“That’s an unfortunate accident.” Zhongli frowned.

“Ah it was, but her groom is a great man, he said her deceased husband was his best friend, while it may sound controversial, I think it’s great that he takes good care of them, you can see how dedicated and loving he is when it comes to his family.” Granny Shan chuckled, “Maybe you should visit the bakery sometimes, it would be more fun to socialise with people your age than just an old lady like me.” she teased.

“Don’t be like that, I quite enjoy our conversation.” the brunette replied, “But I think it would be nice to meet them, maybe they can help me in searching for my own family.”

“Ah, that would be great as well.” Granny Shan replied, “Well, I’ll go ahead and make us some tea to warm us up.” she said before leaving to the kitchen.

Zhongli hum before continuing his tasks.

It was five hours after Qiqi’s done with school.

Five hours of Qiqi waiting for her Mama.

And Qiqi is starting to get a little fussy.

By this time, Qiqi would have taken a nap in the private room of the bakery, she would’ve woken up refreshed and would be playing with her Uncles now.

She doesn’t even remember the promise of a new toy, she just wants to go home and sleep.

Granny Shan had offered the sofa in their living room, but Qiqi isn’t comfortable with napping somewhere else than the comfort of familiarity their bakery gives. Even if she knows Granny Shan and Mr Zhongli are good people, she just wants her Mama and Uncles nearby.

Zhongli frowns as Qiqi rejects another snack from him, while Qiqi did have a packed lunch with her, he thought that some sweets will brighten her mood, but all he was getting was a no and a frustrated tired face from the girl.

“Hm, it’s barely raining outside now, why don’t you just walk Qiqi there?” Granny Shan said.

Qiqi perked up at the suggestion, looking at Zhongli with tired and pleading eyes.

“Yeah, I think it would be a great idea, the little one is tired and I think she’d be more comfortable resting with her family.” Zhongli nodded.

Qiqi’s eye lightened, she nodded in agreement before standing up to follow Zhongli.

“Alright, be careful, bye Qiqi.” Granny Shan waved.

Having been in a good mood again, Qiqi smiled and waved, “Bye-bye, GrannyShan!” before grabbing Zhongli’s hand.

It took Zhongli by surprise, he wasn’t offering his hand but it seemed to be a habit of the little girl, which isn’t that bad, it’s safer that way and he’s glad her parents thought her that.

Also for some reason, it gives him a huge sense of comfort.

Gently grabbing Qiqi’s hand and an umbrella, they made their way.

“Oh my god, I hope Qiqi is fine.” Lumine said as she frantically shoved her things in her purse, “We were so busy no one can come to get her, I couldn’t even prepare something for Granny Shan.”

“Baby, calm down.” Ajax sighed as he wrapped his arms around his stressed lover, hugging her from the back “Qiqi’s in good hands and you guys did amazing for the event, you should rest for a bit,” he said softly before kissing the side of her head.

While Lumine is shy with public display of affection, there is no customer to tend since the bakery was closed early, most of the employees left, Xiao was at the kitchen making sure to clean the last bit before locking up the back then heading home, and Aether had left to pick Keqing up from work. It’s just the two of them in front of the shop, Lumine having cleaned up the counter and tables when Ajax arrived.

“You know how Qiqi is when she doesn’t get her nap, she’s going to be a nightmare to take care of later.” the blonde dreaded.

Ajax chuckled, turned her around and lifted her up to sit her on the table, “I’ll be with you, don’t worry, we’ll handle our little tantrum monster, okay?” he smiled with an Eskimo kiss.

The exact thing Lumine needs to calm down, she smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck, “How are you always so bright even after work.” she pouted at him.

“Let’s say messing with a certain midget is a great stress reliever.” Ajax grinned mischievously.

“You know one day, you’re gonna get in trouble for pissing him so much at work.” Lumine deadpanned.

“Eh, I only mess with him when it’s a slow day so I’m not disrupting anything at work. Though it had become a game for everyone to bet on who’s gonna fall for whose prank, I have a winning streak of 4 if you’re curious.”

“If our kids become little shits, you’re sleeping on the fucking sofa.” Lumine threatened, though there’s a playful hint in her eyes.

“Such a harsh punishment, love, how will I pass on my legacy?” Ajax faked frowned.

“What legacy? Being a little shit to Scaramouche?” Lumine teased as she poked his cheeks.

“Well, I was thinking our kids vs his, you know? A worthy opponent, their battle will be legendary!”

Lumine laughed, “Ajax, no!”

Ajax grinned, glad that his lover is in a much brighter mood. The talk about their future kids had also brightened him up with excitement, he can imagine Qiqi being the best big sister she can be with the future little ones that’ll be running around their house.

Speaking of which, he should start looking for some renovation plans to handle a bigger family in their home.

A text notified Lumine. She checked her phone and sighed in relief, “Well, looks like Granny Shan sent her employee to walk Qiqi here.”

Ajax hummed before burying his face against her neck, “That’s great, ‘cause I’m feeling comfortable like this.”

“You’re gonna make the man uncomfortable, Ajax.” Lumine pointed out how intimate they look but nonetheless brushed her fingers through his hair.

“Eh, should be expected with a soon to be wed couple.” Ajax shrugged not moving except lifting his face to rest his forehead against hers.

Lumine just chuckled and welcomed the comfort.

“Mama, Papa, Qiqi’s here! Look, Mister, that’s Qiqi’s Mama and Papa!”

if you have ever watched mha you should know that Uraraka is  canonically dirt poor

well maybe not dirt poor as from what i know, she isn’t homeless but..

it’d be a fair assumption that she is an extreme cheapskate

she really is that bitch at the cinema who deadass walks in lookin built like manatee from the neck down but her skinny face really doesn’t sell the act

and she smells like off-brand skittles and soda from a mile away but box office clerk pretends not to see shit because they are too underpaid to deal with an determined, skint bubble girl first thing in the morning

oh and did i mention she exclusively takes you to early bird specials for the huge discount

so, needless to say, when you want Uraraka to come see a movie with you in the afternoon, you have to pay for her ticket

now, with that in mind, why would she ever want to go shopping as a date? shopping!

the whole premise of ‘shopping’ is spending money - something she is very much against

so, obviously you thought it was a prank when she texted you to ask you on a date to the local mall

none the less, on the day you showed up - with a pocket knife in your purse, just in case - and to your pleasant surprise, Ochako was standing there outside your favourite jewellery shop with a cheesy grin on her face

“(Y/N)!” She called out, skipping up to you and throwing herself into your arms. “Guess what?!”

You giggled, delighted to see her so happy but confused as to why - as usually she gets upset when she is surrounded by so many expensive things. “What, bubbles?”

She pulled out from the hug to reach into her pocket, grab her hand-me-down wallet from her dad and unzip it to show you the many notes she had cramped inside there. “Look! Remember when I told you I couldn’t come on dates on weekends with you anymore because workloads at the UA were increasing? Well, truth is, I couldn’t see you because I’ve been holding down a secret job at a dessert place for the last few months - and look! I’m rich!”

You felt your cheeks heat up and your eyes become glossy for some reason, it just made you emotional seeing Uraraka so happy and excited, despite the fact you noticed that the money in the purse was definitely no more than ¥5500/£40/$53 - so either she had already started spending or she had been severely underpaid for 4 months of work.

“Ochako..” You croaked, sticking out your bottom lip and doing nothing to resist the tears that came rushing down your cheeks. “I’m so proud of you.”

Uraraka shook her head rapidly, “No!” She whined, shielding her eyes with her wallet, “Please don’t cry, (Y/N)! Then I’ll start crying too!”

You nodded, wiping away your tears with your thumb, “Okay, bubbles.” You mumbled, feeling the spark of emotion inside you die down, “So, where shall we go first?”

“Um..” Uraraka hummed in thought before pointing to your favourite jewellery shop which stood behind her, “There! I’m gonna buy you a necklace; to make up for last year when you got a me a really pretty bracelet for valentines’ day and all I could afford to get you was a candy necklace.” She mumbled the last part before taking your hand and dragging you into the shop.

She didn’t even spare a second so you weren’t able to explain to her how you actually really liked the candy necklace - it was delicious! 

Also, while she shifted through all the pretty necklaces looking for one that would ‘compliment your gorgeous eyes’, you realised something - she definitely wasn’t built to be poor.

I mean, yeah, she is very stingy when it comes to shopping for herself

but when it came to buying you a necklace, she was ready to take a mortgage if it meant you’d be satisfied with your gift

or maybe you could call that reckless spending-]

Katsuki Bakugo

when y’all go on dates it’s usually to one of your houses or maybe an abandoned park or something

but because you said you had a way better aim than him - he challenged you to a game of laser tag! and since it was just you and him, he said you could consider it a date

however, when you both arrived at the laser tag arena, it was closed 

neither of y’all checked the opening times on the website so how were you supposed to know that it was closed on Mondays?

after a long while of bickering between the two of you, y’all just decided to spend the rest of the day at the mall next door

and when i tell you bakugo should be on bargain fkn hunters

he is also very clueless when it comes to giving gifts so he takes this as an opportunity to figure out what you want for your birthday/valentine’s time

you show him a crop top you think is cute and he is like ‘i literally do not give a fuck’

he says he is just following you around the shop bc he doesn’t want you to get kidnapped 

but in reality, you see him out of the corner of your eye typing in his notes app ‘black crop top’ as soon as you turn away to hang it back up on the rack

he refuses to shop for himself because ‘all the shit in these shops are ugly and overpriced’ 

as if that is a good enough excuse to hide the real reason why he won’t look for clothes in these shops; which is that he exclusively shops in Hot Topic and ASOS

he gets butterflies whenever you show him any article of clothing and say it’d look good on him, despite the fact his response it usually something along the lines of 

‘fuck off, that shirt is so ugly! why would i want to wear that?!’ or

‘of course i’d look hot in that - its a fucking tank top! don’t be stupid, (Y/N).’

and mentally he does the same for you whenever he sees a cute shirt or a cool pair of shoes but he stays silent, wanting to keep up his ‘i don’t give a fuck’ façade.

in fact, the whole time y’all were shopping the only thing he recommended to you was a revealing piece of lingerie that a mannequin was displaying in the window of a Victoria’s Secret 

“hey, that’d look good on you, (Y/N)!” he chuckled, pointing at the set from across the hall

you rolled your eyes, punching his shoulder without missing a beat, “Of course i’d look good in that - it’s fucking lingerie! don’t be stupid, bakugo.”

“HEY YOU CAN’T USE MY OWN LINE AGAINST ME!”

Denki Kaminari 

y’all hang out at the mall quite a lot but mostly for the food court

by now y’all have probably eaten at every single chain in that bitch at least twice so obviously you go there quite a lot

after you eat, y’all stroll through the mall window-shopping since you probably spend all your money on food 

however, after Kaminari’s birthday he was pretty loaded so he was finally able to walk around the mall and actually buy something other than food! crazy, i know. 

you both were so hyped to buy shit - you forgot how to act

anyway, kaminari hadn’t decided what he was going to spend his ¥7000/£50/$66 on

‘clothes?’ you suggested

‘what’s wrong with my clothes?’ he replied defensively.

‘toiletries?’

‘that’s a funny word-WAIT!’ he yelled, shock running through his body as the ‘best idea of all ideas’ dawned on him. ‘wait here, (Y/N). I’ll be right back.’ 

with that Denki ran off, leaving you outside Sephora with no money 

It took him a while to come back but once he did, a foolishly wide grin painted his features, “(Y/N)! Look!” He yelled, motioning to his huge white bag.

He opened it to show you what was inside, “A yellow blanket?” You asked, cocking your head to the side.

“Yes! It’s 5x5 feet because you said the blanket home that we cuddle in is too small.” 

You blushed, rubbing the back of your neck, feeling kind of bad that Denki spent him birthday money to make you happy. “Oh, well, I didn’t mean that-” 

“And feel it! It’s so fluffy and soft!” 

You nodded, reaching down and stroking the blanket, “Oh my-” 

“It feels like heaven!” he finished your sentence

Steve Rogers x reader {ONESHOT}

A grin quickly spread across your face as you came across an ask in your notifications ‘hi! I love your posts, I just wanted to know who’s your favourite Avenger?’

Before you could answer the question a voice sounded from the sofa across the room, looking up you saw Steve, alone with a book in his hand and a confused expression “what’re you happy about?”

Your grin just got wider

“It’s an ask on Tumblr” you simply explained while maneuvering your body to lay down on the other sofa. Judging by the questioning expression that lay on his face it was obvious he had absolutely no idea what Tumblr was which made you shocked and offended. “You don’t know what Tumblr is?”

Steve just shook his head with a sheepish expression. You quickly jumped up off where you were laid and threw yourself on the spot next to the super soldier who’s eyebrows were now raised. “What is it then?”

You pushed your phone into his hand so he could see “so basically, it’s kind of like a blog and you… reblog things that you like so your followers can see”

None of his questions seemed to be answered, “but, why would people follow you if they can just see the posts on their own?” You took a deep breath, having an argument inside of your head about whether you should tell him what fanfiction was. “People create things, and some people don’t want to miss what they do so they drop a follow”

“...drop a follow?”

I mentally punched myself for using that phrase as it just made him more confused, “um yeah, it’s just a thing” He pushed his book to the side and held up your phone to his face “why are people asking you questions? You don’t own it do you?”

You laughed “no Steve, I don’t own Tumblr, I have followers because I live with you guys and sometimes they want to know my opinion” He instantly became concerned “is it safe?”

“Mmmm, yes, I think so anyway, unless people get hacked or something but that’s highly unlikely. I have a safe password”

“But if people can ask questions does that mean that people can also send mean things?” The question came off very worried but before you could answer he continued “have you been sent anything rude?” You just half shrugged “well, people know me, of course I get sent hate, I just ignore it”

The overprotectiveness from him instantly kicked in as soon as the sentence left your mouth “people do that?! Why?! I think you should delete that app. Maybe Tony can ban them from the app? He could buy it off of the owner! I’ll ask him!”

But you stopped him before he could move, “wait- that’s actually quite a good idea” He smiled proudly before becoming once again confused

“which one?”

“Tony could buy it, and then take off all the haters and then sell it back!” Without missing a beat you grabbed the soldier's hand, your other holding your phone which had Tumblr opened and then you started dragging him down to the billionaires lab. But it was mostly you struggling to pull Steve along and him walking behind you.

“Hey Tony!” You exclaimed once you’d both reached your destination making him look up from the current project he had physically locked himself inside to work on. “What’s up short stuff?“ he asked, using the nickname he gave you even though you hated but he didn’t look up from the metal. You gave Steve a side nudge to get him to do the talking, the soldier took the hint and opened his mouth to ask him but closed it again as if he didn’t know what to say. He did it another couple of times, more and more looking like a fish.

But finally he managed to form words “look we were thinking that maybe, you could consider buying an app called Tumblr,” he paused before saying quickly “just to get all the hateful people off of it you know”

Tony finally looked up, his face visibly confused and surprised that Steve would want that. “Is this the blogging app that you go on?” He asked and I nodded, he seemed unconvinced but you knew he would probably but it anyway just because I ‘want it’ but just incase Steve added in “she’s getting hate messages”

“What?!”

I just rolled my eyes but didn’t say anything, Steve gently side kicked me with his foot as to say ‘carry on’

“Yeah, what he said, so can’t you please get it and ban all the people who’ve sent a hate message please?” You asked and the added on “you can sell it right after!” just to make sure he was convinced

The clogs turned in his head as he considered it before shrugging and turning back to the project “sure kid, I’ll get Jarvis to buy it”

You stared at the billionaire with wide eyes. You weren’t complaining though, if he just wanted to throw away a million dollars then it wasn’t your place to say anything, his money after all.

So before he could change his mind, you once again took hold of the other man's hand to go back to the lounge area. You both kept quiet the whole walk there except for the quiet laughing that left your mouth at how easy that was when it shouldn’t be at how much the app costs.

When you reached the room Steve turned to you, a sheepish smile plastered on his lips when he admitted “I still don’t understand what Tumblr is”

1. Do you listen to music when you write?

Yes! I can't write a single word if I'm not listening to music. I typically write to instrumentals, but when I'm really trying to get deep into a muse's head, I listen to the playlists I've created for them. (In general, the scores I really enjoy are from Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Emma., Anna Karenina, 1917, Succession, Game of Thrones yikes lmao, and Little Women)

15. How do you deal with writer’s block?

I don't :)

25. Favourite part of writing

I mean, is it bad to say that I do love when I get compliments? Not even in like, a conceited way—I love the feeling of putting something I've created into the world and someone tells me that they enjoyed it. It's the whole point of art.

32. Most difficult character to write

Oliver Rhodes. I pretty much only write very morally ambiguous or straight up villainous characters, but he's on another level. He's one of the most difficult but he's also one of the most fun because I love the dynamics he's got.

36. Last sentence you wrote

It was actually for an app I'm working on for Purgatorio RPG, and it's just: There is a ballerina sitting inside a jewelry box on your dressing table.

44. How much research do you do?

It really depends. For historical purposes, I do my research because I don't like to be taken out of the time period I'm writing in due to inaccuracies. For stuff like illnesses, personality disorders, any types of addictions, I also do as much research as I can.
