Monster March 2024- Day 3- Extra-Dimensional Being
Glass Cannon
Tumblr media
Or, more specifically, Night Action- Monster March Style. With a Jumper twist. Now, while the term Glass Cannon has it's own meaning, this is obviously, a twist on it. And, hopefully, once I finish Monster March. I can go back and finish this. I'm trying extra super hard to stay on track and post these, on time. So I'm doing my best to post at least a part 1 of all of these prompts.
As always, a huge thanks to @borealwrites for their amazing Monster March 2024 prompt list. Enjoy.
Monster March 2024 Day 3- Extra Dimensional Being
Night Action Monster March Style
Glass Cannon
Teagan pulled into the driveway of her grandparents house and couldn’t help but cry fresh tears. She felt like she just wanted to jump into a black hole and disappear forever. But she also knew her family would jump in to save her, no matter how badly she felt she needed to disappear.
Teagan felt like her life was in chaos.
Her partner, fell in love with a client. And her partner and the client practically took her business and all of her customers right out from under her. With no more clients, she couldn’t afford to rent the space. And had to move all of her things out of there and into storage. Her savings dwindled when she tried to restart the business but failed because where she had moved to, while it was good she was unknown, she just couldn’t get a foothold. She lost the new space, and her apartment, all at the same time. So she was essentially homeless, jobless, out of money and out of options.
Her parents had already been moved to an assisted living community because of dementia and other health issues. And so she couldn’t go to them.
All of her siblings just didn’t have room in their homes, with their families that always felt like it was bursting at the seams already. She had already couch surfed her few remaining friends and now, the only place left to go, was her grandparents house.
Her grandma Hyacinth, came out of the house and came to her driver’s side door and opened the door to reach in and hug her.
“Oh honey, it’s ok. It’s ok. You’re here now. You’re safe and sound. Come on, let’s get you inside.” She urged as Teagan nodded into her grandma’s shoulders and unbuckled her seatbelt and came inside where they had made Teagan’s favorite dishes to give her as much comfort as possible as Teagan sunk down into the dining room chair and while she didn’t feel that hungry before, now that she was sitting here, she realized she hadn’t eaten anything of real sustenance in weeks as Hyacinth scooped big portions onto Teagan’s plate as Teagan began to cry less and less with every bite she took.
Her grandpa Jude had gone and gotten some help from a neighbor kid to start unpacking Teagan’s car of her things to move her into the guest bedroom.
“Thank you Grandpa.” Teagan said between mouthfuls.
“You’re welcome Sweetheart. You just go ahead and keep on eating. Sport and I got this.” He waived off as the young kid seemed to be like 12 or 13. Teagan had known the kid to shovel driveways and mow lawns for the neighbors for the last couple of years and Teagan could only hope he was charging enough to do such things.
“I just…I just don’t know where to start.” Teagan finally confessed to her grandma.
“Start fresh. That’s all you can do. Tomorrow will be a new day. And the important thing is, is that you’re safe here. You can rest here. You need to rest and give yourself time to adjust and once you’ve recovered and settled, then you can focus on where you can go from here. Your grandpa and I still have a bit of money in savings. It’s not enough to reset you completely. But it’s enough to buy a seed or two to plant and grow.” She reassured her granddaughter.
“Here, have a drink. I got a new recipe, I want you to tell me what you think.” She offered as she inched the glass closer to her granddaughter.
Teagan picked it up and took a sip.
“Is this…is this a liquid marijuana?” Teagan asked as she could distinctly taste the midori melon liqueur.
“I like to call it a Lady Green, sounds more sophisticated. I still have a firm no drugs policy, even in name.” Hyacinth waved off in a teasing tone as Teagan snorted a laugh into her drink before she drank more. This was one of her favorite drinks too. Sweet and fruity and lethal as far as alcohol content. Her grandparents were a bit eccentric, but adorable and lovable all the same as Hyacinth giggled with her granddaughter.
“Have you gone to see Mom?” Teagan asked.
“Yes, she thought I was an old neighbor of hers. Poor thing, quite out of her mind.” She shook her head.
“Yeah, she had no idea who I was when I saw her either. And Dad, his knee replacement surgery didn’t go as well as he hoped and he isn’t healing like he should. He's practically wheelchair bound now. I’m really worried about him.” Teagan admitted.
“Me too. But, the important thing is that they are where they will receive the best care and help and support right where they are.” Hyacinth reassured her before her phone rang and she answered it.
“Hi Hi.” She answered it once she got up and then went to a counter where her tablet was.
“Yes of course, I’m going to send you the address and the code ok?” She offered before she went and seemed to do a few taps on her tablet before looking back up and away as she listened to who was on the phone.
“Did you get it?” She asked and smiled and nodded.
“Good. Have the day you deserve.” She offered before she hung up.
“Another AirBnB reservation?” Teagan asked.
“Yes. They come in all the time, both day and night.” She excused as she returned to the table with her.
“But it’s how we afford to live here and take care of your parents when the facility can’t cover everything.” She sighed.
“Once you get settled, I’ll take you around to all of them and let you have your pick of whichever one you want though. It’s the least we can do. But it will just take a while for that to happen. You just need to be patient.” Hyacinth offered before Jude got the last of the items and paid “Sport” for the help before Sport happily pocketed the money and bid them goodbye and to call him if they needed help with anything else before Jude came in and sat on the other side of Teagan at the table.
“Glad to have you home Sweetpea.” He cooed as he hugged her from the side and kissed the crown of her head.
“Thank you for taking me in.” Teagan offered.
“Oh don’t say it like you’re some poor orphan. You’re family. You stay as long as you want and as long as you need to- to get your feet back underneath you. You’ve been through enough hell as it is. We don’t need to add to it. We know how much you love your independence and self sufficiency and the blows to your pride to just come to us and ask, have been too big and too tough if you ask me. Just sit back and let us take care of you for a bit. You’re not being a leech or anything. Everyone falls on tough times. This is just yours hitting all at once.” Grandpa Jude comforted and reassured her as he rubbed circles into her back.
Teagan happily wrapped each arm around each of them on either side of her and hugged them.
“Thank you.” She thanked them.
“You’re welcome. Now eat up. You’ve lost too much weight as it is.” Hyacinth insisted once she dumped another spoonful of stuffing onto Teagan’s plate while Grandpa Jude gave her another scoop of gravy for her mashed potatoes.
It took a while to get used to all the calls that they got, as it seemed like they were getting at least several an hour, as they would get a call and then need to make a few more with each one. Teagan wondered if her grandparents must have had dozens of places that they rented out. But couldn’t find it in her heart to be upset about it. It would hopefully just be that many more options for her moving forward. But she was not about to complain. She had a lot of aunts and uncles that were more or less “adopted” and the family was always going here or there and doing this or that. But her grandparents seemed to be home base and a touchstone for everyone else and how they kept it all straight was beyond Teagan’s understanding.
After a few more days of this, Teagan seemed to acclimate and began to anticipate the calls and would hand her grandparent’s their tablets or their phones- only moments before their phones would ring as they would be around the house, doing various things and pause to direct the cleaning service they hired to clean the AirBnB’s after each guest would stay as Teagan was just happy to rest, help with meals and cleaning up to let her grandparents continue to “do business”. As it was clear that it was booming for them. Which, she could be happy for them. But also knew, it was a lot of work too and didn’t envy them. But Teagan rather liked all the distractions from what she was dealing with. She still remembered how her grandma liked her tea, how her grandpa liked his coffee and other little things like that. She was happy to play “caregiver” to them, even though they didn’t need that much “care” in that sense. Just the occasional reminder to eat and drink every so often and bring chargers to charge their ever ringing phones and tablets as they would move around their home throughout the day.
“You know Teagan, maybe we ought to train you on how to manage all of this. Your grandma and I might want to really, fully retire someday. And it would be nice to leave this business to a family member who would be able to manage it and make it grow. It’s like you have a sixth sense about it.” Grandpa Jude began as Hyacinth paused to give Jude a meaningful look.
“I wouldn’t wish the constant phone ringing on anyone in the family.” Hyacinth gently contested.
“Besides, we already have buyers cued up for our business. Who have been getting their feet wet and are gaining a lot of experience in handling this. I think if Teagan can wait it out for a little while, we can just give her, her share of the sale with everyone else. And really let her build something for herself. And not just continue this never ending cycle. These are supposed to be our golden years Jude. I feel like my mother when she was a phone cable girl, always patching calls through. Being a hub to receive requests and directing them to their final destinations.” She offered with a tired sigh as she tried to get back to her knitting from her last set of phone calls and at least remember to drink her tea while it was still warm.
“Not that I don’t think you can do it. I just think you can do something more noble and worthy of your time than just managing this tangle.” Hyacinth reassured Teagan.
“Yeah, I’ll be honest. It’s not my cup of tea. I like my peace and quiet and solitude.” Teagan offered with a polite smile as she lounged on their sofa and read a book as Hyacinth gave Jude an ‘I told you so’ look as Jude rolled his eyes before other calls came in that took their attention once again.
However, that night, Teagan awoke and frowned when the house was deathly quiet. The phone calls had ceased and when she checked her phone. It was showing something similar to a blue screen of death. No signal, no wifi, nothing. Which was extremely odd. She tried to turn on the light, but the power was out. Which would explain the unsettling quietness. Nothing was on. Not even the clocks on the walls ticked. Something was wrong. Grossly so. Every hair on Teagan’s body stood on end as impending doom grew like a boulder in her gut. And suddenly, she got the sensation that so many people were jumping just outside the home and closing in. Like a pack of wolves.
Teagan got up and went through the darkened house, and peeked into her grandparent’s room, to see it was empty. Bed wasn’t even disturbed. And just as she was about to go to the bathroom, she heard her grandparents frantically whispering downstairs.
“We should have moved Teagan yesterday!” Jude harshly whispered as he racked some loads into his shotgun.
“I thought we had more time!” Hyacinth defended as she was pulling her decorative cookie jars down and pulling weapons and ammo from them and tossing things over to Jude who was at the table loading their ever growing arsenal as Hyacinth seemed to pull more and more weapons that were hidden all around their kitchen! Teagan stared wide eyed and slack jawed. The most dangerous thing her grandparents had ever handled before was a chef knife. Where did all of this come from?
“We need to jump her.” Jude insisted.
“Except that they will use that to track her that much faster. She can’t jump on her own. We can use our rabbit hole in the closet to get her out of here. Send her to the Fluers.” Hyacinth said.
“She’s already so delicate, this would break her if we did that.” Jude argued.
“Then we’ll make her Bullet Proof. I’ll go wake her.” Hyacinth decided before she went to get to the stairs to see Teagan already on the middle landing.
“Oh good! You’re up. Put this on.” Hyacinth urged her as she brought her to the kitchen and put a backpack on her as Jude was writing something down.
“What’s going on? Why do you guys have so many weapons? Are we about to get raided or something? Do I need to jump out of here?” Teagan asked.
“No, don’t jump!” Hyacinth sharply urged her.
“We are going to put you into the closet. The closet is going to portal you somewhere safe, when you get there, get on a phone and call this number and say these exact words in this exact order. And then give them this message. Do not jump and portal back here! Do you hear and understand me, Teagan?” Jude asked once he put the paper into her hands and then held her face in his weathered hands.
“Yes Sir.” Teagan nodded as tears soon glassed her own eyes.
“Good girl.” Jude offered with tears glazing his eyes as he kissed her forehead and then left to get something.
“And do not use your own jumping and portaling abilities once you are through. Because if you do, another jumper will jump through your portal to where you just portaled from. And once they get your portal signature, they’ll be able to track you and hunt you down. Do not, under any circumstances jump to true friends or anyone in the family because the people that are outside and closing in on us, will kill everyone in the family. Even your baby nieces and nephews. You can’t lead this danger to them. Got it?” Hyacinth urged her as she fitted the backpack to her granddaughter.
“What the hell is going on?” Teagan asked.
“We don’t have time to tell you. We only have time to save you. Don’t worry about us ok? We’ve been through worse. When this is all over, go to the Fluers. Tell them you’re a consigliere. They’ll give you- your true inheritance. But that’s only after this danger is gone. And you are truly safe ok?” Hyacinth urged her.
“We love you.” Jude offered before he came up and injected something into her neck as she whimpered and hissed in pain before Hyacinth injected her with something else in the other side of her neck as she looked hurt and betrayed at her grandmother who could only give her an apologetic smile.
“Go, go now!” They urged as they both shoved her into the closet and suddenly the closet floor vanished and she was suddenly falling and all around her was a blur of light and color as a glass tube seemed to encapsulate her and protect her from around her before suddenly it stopped, but only for a moment, just as she was about to leave the tube, it went again and by the second time it stopped, she tried to get out again, only for the tube to lock and send her again, this time the colors all around her moving in all manner of directions that made her so dizzy. She felt like she was in a roller coaster as her body’s center of gravity seemed to move and switch around before it finally stopped and the tube shattered all around her as she put her arms above her head to keep the glass from scratching her head. As she expected to feel the glass shards cut her hands. But thankfully they just slid off of her like snow. As that was odd. Now, all around her feet was just a ring of snow.
But that roller coaster of a ride had made her sick but she wanted to throw up. But she couldn’t. She needed to get to a phone. She opened what felt like a closet door to find another house around her as she quickly grabbed the phone to call the number.
“Yes, go ahead.” She heard a male voice answer on the other side.
“Hi, Hi, Night Action! Jade. Soap. Ivy. Dove.” She read off the first line that her grandfather had written down.
“Thank you. Is this Pheonix or Raine?” He asked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. What is going on? Who is this? Who did I call?” Tatum cried as she heard him take a measured breath.
“What was the name of your primary school?” He asked.
“What primary school? I went to school in the US. Is that like an elementary school or something?” Teagan replied.
“Ma’am. You’ve called the wrong number. I have to keep this line free.” He tried to dismiss.
“No! Don’t hang up! My grandparents told me to call you. Jude and Hyacinth Smithenson. My grandparents are in trouble. They portaled me to…I don’t know where, they gave me this paper and told me to say “ Hi, Hi! Night Action!” and then ‘Jade, soap, ivy, dove and to tell you that “the hub is compromised, infiltrated and ambushed and that the hub is being flushed”. But you have to help them! Someone cut the power to their house. And the house is being surrounded and they’re probably after me too! I felt it. At least a few dozen people jumped all around my grandparents house. It was like a pack of wolves!” She exclaimed as she read the rest of the message.
“The hub was compromised? infiltrated? And ambushed?!” He repeated, in shock.
“Yes! You have to send someone to help them! They wrote down that they were flushing it though? What does that mean?” She asked before she heard him repeat what she had just told him.
“What’s happening?” She asked before she heard him tell whoever else he was talking to- the address of her grandparent’s place.
“What’s your name?” The guy on the other side of the call asked.
“Teagan, Teagan Smitherson. I’m their granddaughter.” She answered before he seemed to whisper something under his breath that, if she had to guess, sounded like an ‘oh shit’.
“Teagan. I’m Payton. The phone that you’re calling from, does it have a pie symbol on it, like the  square root of pie?” He asked before she pulled it away and looked at it.
“Yes.” She confirmed.
“Press that key. And the phone will tell me where you are so I can send you the right help.” He instructed before she did. But only a few seconds later, she felt a tingle and someone jumped to the middle of the street as she saw the rifle across their chest.
“Shit, what kind of signal did I just set off? Someone just jumped outside the house!” She asked.
“What?!” He exclaimed before he started barking off all kinds of codes and orders on the other side.
“Teagan, I’m just now getting the signal here. Is the place you’re in- have either a basement or an upstairs?” He asked.
“Both. I think.” She answered.
“Ok, what you’re going to do is open the door to the basement and then run upstairs. But stay low and try not to get seen.
“It’s gonna be hard with this backpack on my back.” She offered.
“Then take the backpack off and throw it into the basement before you go upstairs. Chances are, they’re tracking whatever is in the backpack.” Payton directed her before she did as he told her and opened the pantry, then the bathroom before finally finding the door to the basement and tossed it down the stairs before she quickly and quietly closed the doors and then crouched and went towards the stairs.
“Ok, the backpack is in the basement, I’m headed up the stairs. Now what?” She asked.
“Get to any room with a locking door. Lock it and then leave it closed but not inside the room itself. But it’s going to give you time for help to come. Get to the farthest bedroom. Do not lock that door, but hide in the closet.” He instructed her before she heard the other jumper break into the house next door and then, the gun that they had, was being fired.
“They’ve followed me here, they’re going to the other houses and they’re shooting the neighbors!” She whispered in a whimper from the closet before she heard guns go off form all the houses all around her.
“They’re shooting all the neighbors! All around me! More jumped after me!” There’s a whole group of them!” She breathed before the door got kicked in downstairs.
“Shit! They’re here! They’re inside! They’re gonna find me! But Grandma told me not to jump.” She shuddered as tears streaked down her face.
“Yes, don’t jump. They will follow you. Don’t jump. We just need to get to you first. But for now, be quiet, be as quiet as you can be. But if they get to you first, fight, fight for your life and fight like hell until we can get to you ok?” He tried to coach her before the intruders came up the stairs.
“You still with me Teagan?” He asked, but all he heard was shuddering breath.
“Press the pound sign if you can’t talk.” He told her before she did.
“It’s gonna be ok. Help is only seconds away. I have an entire team coming for you. And they will be in the house in only a second.” He tried to say before she felt the tingle and then suddenly all around her, a whole group jumped into every room of the house and suddenly all the guns were going off before she was in another glass box, this one, not moving but bullets were bouncing off of it. She was essentially a goldfish and in fishbowl. She could see and hear but not escape. She felt so helpless as she heard the barrage of gunfire all around her but was helpless to either help or escape.
Then, once again, silence before the glass vanished.
“Teagan? Teagan Smitherson?” She heard her name.
“Someone is calling my name.” She breathed into the phone.
“That’s Commander Juno. You can answer her, you’re safe.” He told her as he breathed a sigh of relief.
“Juno?” Teagan finally answered before the closet door was opened.
“Hi Teagan. I’m Juno Bexly. Payton sent me here to get you. You’re safe now.” Juno offered as she offered Teagan her hand to help her to her feet.
“You’re safe now Teagan. That’s Commander Juno. She’s a badass. She’ll take great care of you from here on out ok? You did great. I’m so proud of you. You’re gonna be ok.” Payton offered.
“Thank you Payton. Thank you for helping me.” Teagan tearfully offered.
“You’re welcome. Happy to help. I’m gonna hang up now ok? I’m gonna check up on your grandparents.  You’ll be ok.” Payton urged.
“Yes, please, thank you. Goodbye.” She answered before she hung up the phone.
“Is the backpack still in the basement?” Teagan asked Juno.
“No, they got it before we could get here. Half of them jumped out the moment we jumped in. Half of my team is jumping after them and hunting them down. We killed all the others.” She offered as Teagan watched as the dead bodies were tagged and then jumped to somewhere else.
“What about the neighbors?” Teagan tearfully asked.
“They’re all dead, aren’t they?” Teagan asked before Juno nodded.
“All for me? All for…a backpack?! What the fuck was in that thing?” Teagan asked before Juno enveloped her into a hug.
“I don’t know. But backpacks can be replaced. You can’t.” Juno tried to offer.
“But what about Granny and Papa? Are they still alive?” Teagan asked.
“I don’t know. I haven’t heard.” Juno offered.
“But for now, let’s just get you somewhere safe ok?” Come on, I’m gonna jump us back to base.
“Wait, where am I?” She asked.
“We’re in a suburb of Nashville Tennessee.” She answered.
“But…But I jumped from Oregon.” Teagan offered.
“Actually you jumped a hundred and eleven times around the world. Which is why we had such a hard time tracking you and finding you. But now, we’re about to jump to Washington D.C.” Juno informed her before they stepped onto a jump pad. But Juno jumped. Teagan was simply left to stand there.
“Oh shit. Boss, we have a problem. Miss Smitherson can’t jump.” Someone reported.
“That’s ridiculous.” Juno answered before she jumped back and tried to jump again.
“What the fuck is going on?” Juno barked at the others.
“I don’t know.” They offered before they tried to give Teagan a body tag and the body tag itself jumped, but not her.
“General Jordan, we have a problem. We can not get the target to jump.” Juno reported into a radio on her shoulder.
“Try every dimensional jump we can.” General Jordan offered before Teagan was moved from pad to pad as they were all set up around the house. But with no success.
“What the everloving fuck?” Juno growled.
“This is not your fault Teagan. This is not your fault. I just have never had any being not be able to jump before.” Juno quickly reassured her.
“When my grandma sent me, she put me in a glass tube.” Teagan volunteered.
“And right before you came, another glass tube came around me.” Teagan added.
“Gods damn it.” Juno hissed in realization.
“Hey General Jordan. I think have to Glass Cannon her.” Juno informed her superior.
“Glass Cannon?” Teagan repeated.
“Glass Cannons is a very, very specific form of jumping. It takes glass from the mirror realm to encase the subject in a bullet proof, perfect case, The only time the glass cannon shatters is when it delivers the payload to a final destination. That’s how you survived 111 jumps with no harm to your being whatsoever, most can’t do more than 20 without getting violently ill.” Juno explained.
“When I jumped here, the glass shattered. I expected it to cut me.” Teagan answered.
“Where? Where did it jump you here?” Juno asked before Teagan led them to the downstairs closet and the moment they opened the closet, it looked like there was a heap of snow on the floor of the closet before everyone else took a huge step back as Juno pulled Teagan away and behind her.
“Oh shit. This isn’t normal glass. This is….this is snow glass. It’s the most specialized glass there is. When it breaks, it falls like snow. But it acts like fiberglass to everyone else. Only the most precious world leaders jump and portal in snow glass. Who put you into this?” Juno realized.
“My grandparents, Hyacinth…” Teagan began.
“And Jude Smitherson, also known as Raine’s Pheonix, orchestrators of the Central Hub.” Juno finished as she seemed to look at Teagan with more appreciation.
“Excuse me?” Teagan asked.
“They are very important people. I’ve never met a family member of theirs. Ok. If Raine’s Pheonix saw fit to send you in snow glass. We’ll…find a way to send you back to safety in snow glass.” Juno offered.
“I need a snow glass sent here. Target is leaded out.” Juno directed into her communicator on her shoulder.
“Leaded out?” Teagan asked.
“It’s a thing for your protection. Your grandparents made it so that no one can jump you without snow glass. And no one can get that and we have to get all kinds of special permissions to even get one.” Juno admitted.
“Captain, we have a problem. The target is leaded out. And can only be portaled through a snow glass cannon. The only way to bring her in is either we need to get one, or bring her back physically. I will need an envoy.” Juno reported.
“Now that the target is secured. We need to secure the payload. I need your team to continue to track it.” General Joradan instructed.
“I can take her back Sir.” Juno offered.
“No, I need you to lead your team to secure the payload.” General Jordan contested.
“I’ll go. It’s the least I can do for Raine’s Pheonix.” Payton offered from beside the General who had come into Headquarters once alerted that Raine’s Pheonix and the central hub had fallen.
“Ok, go.” General Jordan insisted before Payton vanished into a shadow and came out of a second one on the other side as Juno nearly jumped out of her skin. But Teagan had turned her head towards the darkness seconds before Payton got out of it.
“I hate it when you do that Blackwater.” Juno complained.
“Sorry. Miss Smithenson.” He offered to Teagan.
“You’re Payton. From the phone.” Teagan recognized his voice.
“Yes. I understand that you’re leaded out. Practically bullet proof.” Payton began as Teagan blinked in surprise.
“That’s what she meant.” Teagan whispered.
“That’s what who meant?” Payton asked.
“My grandmother, before she put me in that snow glass cannon. She said she would make me bulletproof.” Teagan repeated as she reached up to rub her neck where her grandmother had injected her.
“Did she say anything else?” Payton asked.
“It’s um, it’s just all fuzzy and then a blurr.” Teagan offered.
“Well, it’s been a rough night. You should be getting some sleep. I’ll get you somewhere safe, away from all of this.” Payton offered as he gestured the shot to smithereens house.
“Thank you.” Teagan nodded.
“Do you trust Payton?” Teagan murmured to Juno as she was reluctant to let go of Juno’s arm.
“Oh yeah. You’re in great hands. Think of me as a first responder and he’s a whole damn Emergency Room, if not- the whole ass hospital. He will protect you with his life. He has some real power behind him, I only have my team. I’m gonna hunt the bastards down and give those caught in the crossfire tonight, justice.” Juno nodded.
“Well, teamwork makes the dream work right?” Teagan reminded her.
“Of course. Besides, with just you and him, you’ll be able to move to the D.C. Headquarters a lot easier and quicker than me and my team could get you there. One woman being protected by 6 armed body guards in a three SUV caravan is gonna turn some heads. But just the two of you traveling alone are gonna look like a couple on a road trip. No one is gonna give you and him a second thought or glance. You’ll practically be invisible to the average set of eyes. Plus Payton practically sets the standard for asset care. But when I’m done hunting, I’ll come back and check up on you ok?” Juno offered.
“Ok. Thank you Juno. Good luck.” Teagan offered as she gave Juno another hug.
“You’ll be ok. You’re in safe hands.” Juno reassured Teagan.
“Here, since you had to throw off your backpack to throw your scent off. Take this ok? It’s practically a standard issue asset bug out bag. Chances are, that backpack was just a bug out bag. This is another one. It’ll get you by until you can get to home base, ok? You’ll be ok. Don’t be afraid to take and use everything in it ok? Think of this as a gift, one that you never have to pay back ok? Your grandparents most likely sent you with a bug out bag and you had to dump yours to throw off your scent. This is just a replacement,, ok?” Juno offered before she handed Teagan a duffle bag that was handed to her from another teammate.
“Thanks.” Teagan offered as she took it from her and tried not to fall over when she felt like the bag weighed half as much as she did.
“Come on, we should get out of here.” Payton invited before he escorted her out of there and into a vehicle parked in the driveway before Teagan got in the passenger side and just stared, rather blankly at her hands with the duffle bag between her feet as Payton began to drive out of there before a series of clean up vans came driving into the cul de sac as Teagan recognized the name of the cleaners.
“The Wright Clean.” Teagan scoffed when she recognized it. That’s what they were really doing. They were probably always cleaning this kind of thing up.
But now, how big was this mess that she found herself in now? And how far would go?

“That’s my girl”
Word Count: 600
Summary: Peter has a crush on his long term best friend and struggles on what to do about it. But what will happen when she’s on the other side of the door listening to his confession to Ned.
Warning: Self doubt.
A/N: My first Peter Parker story hope you enjoy there will be a part two tomorrow! TOLD IN PETERS POV!!
Part 2: https://eddiesmunsonswife.tumblr.com/post/689163973318377472/but-thats-my-girl-part-2
Tumblr media
Ned, Yn, and I have been best friends for years now ever since elementary, so were all extremely close but I still have to keep it locked up that I’ve been in love with Yn since 2nd grade.
-
During Lunch Ned and I talked about our plans for the weekend “Peter dude literally we haven’t hanged in like weeks” Ned groans “We we’re literally with each other last Friday” I grinned eating a fry.
But I suddenly go in high alert as I hear a familiar voice talking to some. “I mean sure we can I just have to check with Peter and Ned first.” Yn spoke but clearly uncomfortable. “Cmon your wayyy too good for them nerds hang with me. The Flash” he kissed his muscles as if he had any.
No Peter that was mean. “Are you even listening to me? HEY YN C’MERE” Ned waved her over. I suddenly fix my posture as she walks towards us “Whats up?” She smiled sitting right next me. I can already feel my cheeks becoming blood red.
“Yn tell Pete that we have to work on my new lego set tonight. I mean what do we have to do its Friday” he chuckled drinking his milk. She smiled at both of us hopefully she doesn’t notice that I haven’t said one word yet.
“I dont know Ned… Flash asked me to the movies and you know I dont like being rude” Yn sighed. “W-what like a date?” I finally spoke giving her my signature puppy dog eyes. She didn’t answer just looking around the room ignoring the question.
“Are you freaking kidding me I mean is the group falling apa-“ zoning out as Ned gives us a full blown lecture about not hanging I feel two sets of eyes on me. One of the girl I’ve been in love with for years and the boy trying to take her away from me sitting at another table.
“Peter are you ok?” She asked putting a hand on my shoulder while her other pulled away my closed fist. “Y-yeah fine. Great! I have to go sorry Yn.” Quickly running out the cafeteria going to the schools front door. I could afford missing a class.
Besides I wouldn’t be able to focus no way, I’m to busy thinking about how Flash is gonna French kiss my girl. I mean Yn.
-
“Dude whats got you all in your feels?” Ned asked while he laid on the floor. “What do you mean.” You ask not taking your eyes off of the group photo of you three. “You’ve been out of it man. Is it Yn?” My eyes widen as I sit up quickly. “Yn? What are you talking about” you nervously chuckle.
“Oh cmon on man Ive known you my whole life. Your in love with her.” He grinned. “No! T-that, thats… true. God Ned why did I have to fall for her thats my best friend she’ll never like me back that way.” You jumped off the bed walking on the walls.
“I FREAKING KNEW IT! I KNEW YOU LIKED HER ITS SO OBVIOUS” He yelled standing up. “What obvious how? No. Yn is to good for me. One she’s amazing, she’s super smart, and very pretty. So so pretty, and plus she’s the girl of my dreams but I know it’ll never work out if Flash gets with her.” Ned just grinned like a idiot at my confession.
“Just work your Peter charm there’s no way she could turn you down.” I nod taking a deep breath while sitting upside down on the ceiling. “No I cant! Flash has way more of a chance than me and hes a complete idiot. But Yn’s my girl so i have to try.” A spark lights in your head as you crawl to the door.
As my bedroom door creaks open my nose is hit with a familiar smell. Looking straight ahead is YN standing with her mouth open in shock..
Did I just ruin our friendship.

Happy October!
This was planned for yesterday, but comp opening and I had bugs to fix.
Tumblr media
I managed to "finish" the game and submitted it just on time!
The current build (playable on the IF Comp website starting yesterday lol!) is about 40-50k words long, including all variation (excluding: "codex", "player page", the arcade mode" and some text widgets). While the cap to reach an end is 14 in-game days, the game can be completed around day 5-6 if you only serve perfect drinks. Also, you can just skip that and play the Arcade for lulz.
This has been super nerve-wracking, submitting something to the big league of comps for IF, and it is about to be even more nerve-wracking having people not only play but judging it. It's exciting, but I am a bit anxious about it. And now judging has started...
BUT: my goal was to submit a working project with more than just making random drinks (so a minimum of a story) and place in the top half of the ranking. I've achieved the first, hopefully, the second will be true too :D
Still, I have learned A LOT working on this project: making special widgets, optimizing my code, editing some JavaScript, including more accessibility (key biding, animation-blocker), creating a more interactive game for the player than just choice lists, mastering flex boxes, using the memorize() function (which I had to remove at the end cause it was creating bugs...), using more custom animations in CSS, etc...
I am quite proud of having done all of that in like 3 months or so. Probably not the best timeframe to upload a comp game but eh, I did it anyways :P
I have a bunch of ideas on what to add, but I'll think about that in November. Expect a "post-mortem"/roadmap coming before the Comp Result.
In the meantime, play TTTT on the IF Comp website, as well as the other amazing entries there! Give all participants some love <3 We all worked really hard for it.
Tumblr media
Since the last update (only UI x, x) back last February, I've received a handful of reports of bugs in some paths and other issues (typos, colour contrast, etc..). I started looking into it, hoping this would just that, and... there will be quite a bit more to fix on top of those. (It's real rough... I feel very ashamed)
I have learned A LOT about coding since I first made this project public last year. Not only that, but also about formatting text on the screen.
I know full well I should keep the project shelved and leave it be. I've worked enough on it. It showed what I could do at that point in time and is a great point of reference to see how far I've gone.
And yet, looking into the code just made me wince a bit... Especially when I know I could improve it and actually try to make it more accessible in general.
So yeah... Update incoming.
Lol, I already added 1k of words for the English version bc proofreading/editing.
Tumblr media
MelS had been writing a few hundred words here and there, pretty much when he gets a chance to write (he's been super busy). He promised me to try to finish the missing Scene of Chapter 2 so I can code them in for the end of the month release. I have a backup planned if this doesn't work out.
Currently not much on that front. But further updates will be planned throughout the month!
OTHER PROJECTS/NOTES:
I will be uploading 3 more rounds of Exquisite Cadaver sometime this month and add another theme! You will see another theme form passing by to choose the next one :)
I am also bringing Crimson Rose & White Lily out of official Hiatus. The writing of the next scene has technically started, but it won't be full steam ahead for another week or two.
I am taking SugarCube coding questions again! If you need an explanation about the use of a certain macro, or how to do a certain thing in CSS, etc...
Will I manage doing everything this month? Probably not :P

Personal garbage I need to get out under the cut.
Been very emotionally tired of late. It's been draining all my batteries and I'm desperately trying to charge them. Keep my mind busy yanno? Getting back into drawing has helped tremendously! Seriously it's been years since I produced so much and it's amazing. (Crazy what reduced stress and more happiness will do for a person, huh?) But I'm afraid I'm gonna burn myself out because I've piled projects onto myself. Ones I am SUPER excited for but afraid my desire to keep drawing daily to distract myself might have a negative effect.
Now since I no longer have to worry about two other people, I am now focusing on other things to worry about even though things are definitely fine. Like the art burnout or what other people think of me. Past couple of weeks have been me afraid that my friends are only putting up with me out of pity. That I really am a horrible person. I don't deserve happiness. How dare I bother people when I'm lonely because I'm not worth other people spending their energy on me. I am annoying others and I should just shut up. I have to remind myself that it isn't true. Easier said than done...
What's complicating matters is there is this lady at work who is so nice and kind. We share similar backgrounds. She's helped keep me company, and talked me through stuff when I was having my meltdown in June. She's already told me she likes me, and I really don't know how to process that. Besides I don't think I'm ready for an in person relationship so soon. Especially when there is already someone else on my mind.
I've had this... for lack of a better term, crush on this other person for years at this point. I know nothing will probably come of it because of many reasons. But focusing my attention on them, seeing them happy, it makes me happy as well. It's all I want right now. I don't wanna make things weird or ruin anything. Their friendship means so much to me.
While dealing with this I've been having nightmares. Nonstop dreams that the girls are trying to get back into my life. Hell one scared me and flipped me out of the bed because I "woke up" and both of them were beside me in bed. I freaked out and pushed them away, but then I actually woke up when I hit the floor. Seems like l shoved the mattress hard and the springs bounced me the rest of the way. Others are just them barging into the house unannounced or trying to aggressively confront me in public. This right here is what's been sucking the soul out of me. If this would stop I would at least be able to keep my energy at a half a tank...
Soon hopefully my brain will calm down. Getting this out has already helped. Though I know it's still a rocky road ahead. Healing is hard, anxiety sucks, but if it weren't for all the other kind people in my life I don't know where I'd be. I love all of them. Especially the cursed ass ones. <3

progress report 10/7
alsdkfj its been... a time.
i am in a fun limbo state of covid negative but still not 100% healthy yet which has been super frustrating.
I am able to get work done (as evidenced by the fact i’m sort of keeping up with kinktober) but its been a challenge.
as far as game dev goes: Atlas is hashing out Akello’s outfits right now and after that’s completed we’ll be able to move on to expressions and full sprite assembly
I’ve also been drafting his chapter and the whole thing is starting to coalesce, which is a very good feeling.
I took down the version of Mori’s chapter hosted on newgrounds because the version of Renpy it was made with had too many issues with progressive loading and its more work than its worth to recompile packages in 7.5.  tldr, its all pixelly and i can’t fix it without putting a few hours into it and at this stage and with Newgrounds primary audience not being a strong match for TCM anyway I kinda just don’t feel like its a priority.
Its Spooktober!  That means TCM turned 1 year old on the 1st!
Patrons can expect a longer-form post re: the crazy year its been but I wanted to take time to thank each of your for your support.  I have to emphasize that I’m just one idiot and the amount of work I was able to get done this year thanks especially to atlas and to the community has been amazing.
I ran a VIP poll asking about possible ways to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of TCM and with the feedback, I think I’ve kind of found something that won’t destroy my wallet but will still offer the chance at physical merch.  Stay tuned for more info.  If I can smoothly deploy to patrons, I’m very likely to offer the opportunity to non-patrons too, its kind of just a numbers game.  Things are hazy now but as soon as I have concrete info I will update yall.
Amir’s concept and sprite gallery FINALLY went up on Patreon for Lower East and Above patrons, check it out!
Another general note about Patreon.  Membership growth has slowed down a lot over the last few months and so for the rest of the quarter I’m going to be brainstorming ways to help energize that again.  We absolutely aren’t in dire straights or anything but I’m looking at this as a good opportunity to hone in on what makes supporting TCM appealing and hopefully get some new members in.
What this means for you: in the immediate sense, not that much.  You might see me doing more live calls on discord or running fun events (like kinktober), i may ask for opinions more or try different advertising tactics on socials.  Towards the end of the year, I might consider making alterations to the release schedule of the full game (pushing ahead or reworking some of the remaining characters) or run a merch kickstarter for more premium products.  Basically I’m just trying to stay flexible and I promise that you’ll all hear about anything major well in advance PLUS I’m always interested in feedback.  Again, TCM is not suffering, we’re just not at the level yet where I don’t have to worry about the project’s health on the long term.  I promise if this was a Freak Out situation, I’d just say that.
Also my partner and I just did our quarterly business review and I’d like to compile some numbers from that to show patrons how we budget for TCM and what we spend our money on.  (I always find that kinda fascinating with other people’s projects, hopefully you’ll find something interesting in there too!)
Anyway, if i can keep sleepy bitch disease at bay yall can expect another update next week.  :D

2023 A Year in Review
Another year come and gone and this one was one for the books! Amazing year and it delivered in all areas. I stepped it up in all areas of my life and really leveled up across the board.
Of course I couldn’t have done this all myself so I gotta give a major THANK YOU! Thank you to all the wonderful people in my life, my family, my colleagues, my friends, and everybody who supports from around the world. I’ve felt so much love this year and so much support which means the world to me especially because the love is genuine.
To really summarize this year I have to say this was the most successful year yet. I’m really proud of all the work that I put in personally and professionally and I’m very grateful and blessed. I’m hoping to carry this momentum into 2024. I leveled up in my career and I've really been enjoying streaming lately and hope to keep pushing that more into the future with martystream.com going strong. Always finding new ways to improve and new areas to expand my abilities.
I was planning on traveling a lot this year because I worked straight through 2022 in Miami. I followed through with that plan and this year I did a lot of traveling even hitting three major trips for work with the first one being to the Super Bowl. That Super Bowl trip was a whole adventure especially coming after another trip going snowboarding in Steamboat Springs, and it was my first time in Arizona. In Arizona I explored a bit and got to know to know the city a bit thanks to the homie Andrew for showing me around and the hospitality while I was in town. The party we worked for the Super Bowl was also off the chain such a sick party was super lit and went super smooth. I’m already really hyped for next year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas and hopefully a great opportunity for work presents itself there.
Another new place I explored this year was Texas where I went to Dallas for the opening of the new Komodo. Great weekend with the team all around there, openings are always exciting and this year we had 3 amazing ones just with the Groot team in Dallas for Komodo, Miami for Casadonna, and Vegas for FBLV. Trying to stay consistent with my work wherever I am and in whatever situation presents itself I realized is what keeps me working hard and consistently booked. Like I said in another yearly recap, nobody can do what I do how I do. I’m keeping that attitude and working to be the best me that I can be instead of trying to compete I focus on working to be the best I can be.
An unexpected trip was going out to Italy which was a great adventure. It honestly was pretty unexpected but the opportunity to move to Italy arose and I was absolutely so blessed to be able to explore Italy with the family and reconnect to our roots. There’s so much more of Italy that I still have yet to discover but will be exploring it more soon. Next summer I hope to do a lot more traveling in Europe as well, and hopefully manifest some new work opportunities out there for the summer.
After getting back it was straight back to work with the Casadonna opening and Halloween right after before jumping straight into the busy season for work. Once I was back from Europe work picked up quick and it was time to grind. Particularly these last couple of weeks of the year have been a blur with work going nonstop. Art Basel, Vegas, and the holidays are a wild roller coaster to end the year on. The work out here really is nonstop, but this year I’ve really made it a priority to find time to reset and properly recover when I’m pushing myself extra hard. Especially with my first time in Las Vegas after Basel these last couple weeks were also an incredible adventure. Truly these last couple weeks of the year have been kind of crazy. As I get older, I need to stay wiser plan ahead, be careful, have fun, but most importantly, just enjoy the moment. I’m always trying to stay focused and maintain discipline.
I’ve also managed to stay consistent with my fitness program and diet, shoutout to Derek once again we been at it going hard. I’ve been playing soccer with the boys too which is great, really missed playing and we used to have to run some great games in Brickell rooftop during the Round Two days in 2019. I also ripped some golf and hit a great round to wrap up the year the other day. I also dialed in my food intake a little more, in cleaning up my diet to stay more focused on my goals I tried out prepping my meals and in the process discovered some great recipes, some bomb restaurants, and took my smoothie and sprout game to the next level. Still got a ways to go but we’re clearing the road and revving up the engines.
I’m so grateful and blessed for everybody in my life, all the wonderful opportunities, and all the incredible memories. I’m constantly learning and exploring and my hunger and work ethic are only growing by the day. I’ve made time to read more, learn some new languages and I hope to keep pursing that well into the future.
I’m really excited for next year. I’m setting my goals high and hoping to crush them. I’m so blessed I get to live life on my own terms with no worries. I tell my friends all the time that I do what I want to do everyday and it couldn’t be more true, I wake up and spend my time how I want. I’m going to keep doing that and answering to myself because that freedom coupled with focus is an unstoppable combination.

Loki x Reader
1989, chapter 3
"Her heart belonged to someone who couldn't stay"
Summary: It's hard to find the one, but even if you do find him it's always going to be a daily struggle to make it work. Can you even make it work after he broke your heart? The answer to that is complicated, but it all started when you found each other again in the Stark tower- and that's where our story begins.
Word count: 5,300
Warnings: mild angst, violence, badly written missions(I'm sorry), fluff
A/N: this song is so fun, and as always with this series I suggest listening to the song of the chapter. Let me know if you want to be tagged!
A/N: a big thank you for @chrissquares for making these amazing dividers! And thank you @nacho-bucky for beta reading this!
No one is allowed to repost my writing or steal or copy my work! Reblog on tumblr is fine.

"Hydra is moving fast and advancing, tomorrow they are going to make a move on a not so secret lab in Germany which works on energy cores, we do not know the exact thing that they are after but we are going to stop them from getting it. Reindeer games you are quite familiar with Germany so try not to take over it this time." Tony projected then the layout of the place. You didn't dare look at Loki, you already knew the scowl he had on his face, barely distinct but you knew it was there.
"Why can't we just warn them today and ambush Hydra?" Clint asked from the end of the table. But you didn't look at him.
You strategically chose your sit, no temptation to look at Loki, not returning the looks that you knew he would send you. No memory of just earlier today. Hell, you still felt the ghost of his lips on yours.
"We suspect that with the knowledge, they might try to strike a deal with Hydra and in exchange of money, they will give them the supply they want. It's safer for us if they start on bad terms and we step in to make sure it all ends."
"We only got a handful of the weapons they created, so be aware of that and stay safe. That lab is intricate and big. Bucky and Clint will be on guard outside, take out any Hydra agents that may lurk guarding outside. The rest of us will spread out to protect and evacuate the relatively innocent folks, and the others take out the Hydra super guilty folks. Point Break, Horny Head," you bit back a laugh. "Try to see if there is anything Asgardian in the Hydra weapons."
You were the first out of the door after it ended. You were not going to wait to see what will happen. You almost felt like a prey, his prey, and he was about to catch you any second now.
"Y/N, are you not going to stay?" Steve asked when you were about to head out making you turn to face him, your eyes couldn't help but momentarily wander who Loki who thankfully had his eyes lowered. "We were going to review the mission details."
"Oh no, I'm feeling a little tired today," you tried to hold Steve's eyes but you knew he knew you better than anyone here, well almost. "Just fill me in tomorrow."
You did not see the look Steve gave the raven haired god when he watched you leave.
How could Loki not stare?
Just a couple of days ago his life was empty of you, and then you entered it again knocking the breath out of him just like the first time he saw you.
And just a couple of hours ago you were in his arms and he was kissing you like he did that one time he came home to you after a hard day with his father, and hel, you kissed him like you did that time he came back from a long fight after a week of being absent from your touch. Your kisses always reminded him what he was fighting for, despite the treatment from his family, he fought through to get to his solace, to get to you.
And now he is back to nothing.
And you are back in an empty room where his presence still lingered. Just like the night he left.
Out on the hanger, you were on the open quinjet ready to go when you felt a presence behind you.
"What exactly can you do?" you turned to him after you tightened the dagger strap on your leg.
"Why does it matter?" you went further inside the quinjet, at the very least you didn't want wondering eyes on you.
"I want to know what happened to you." The question made you look back at him. You couldn't figure him out now, he was just as different as you were but that's not it- he left you, no explanation, and now he is here kissing you and wondering about you as if he actually cares. But then again, why would he leave if he cared?
"I don't know what happened, I started to feel bad and I thought it was just a virus or something, but then I started seeing things… and then I just had these powers." You sighed, there were too many incidents before you understood what was happening.
"Nothing prompted it?" he pressed. He was almost towering over you now as you stood against the wall.
"No, not that I know of at least."
"What are they?"
"I can manipulate people's vision and emotions. I alter their reality as I like and control what they'll feel." You looked down then. "That's what I did to you."
"You put me in the invasion in New York, making me scared." You only nodded to him, you didn't like using your powers but sometimes they are needed. As if he read your mind. "You know that it's-"
You saw Natasha and Tony walk into the quinjet then, followed by the two supersoldiers who found you in the corner. You saw the strange look on their faces.
"I know exactly what it is Loki, now we need to focus on the mission." You walked around him and went away, sitting in the co pilot seat next to Natasha.
"Anything interesting happened today?"
"No Nat, nothing. Let's just get to that lab." You helped her start everything, ignoring the look she gave you at the answer.
"Thor?" Steve called to the god as the two went aside to talk out of earshot.
It was colder than you thought. Now you could only pray to any god out there, maybe Greek just strictly out of spite, that the lab will be much warmer.
"At this point, I think we lost the element of surprise boys." Natasha said through the comms as you drove towards the lab, snow covering the ground mostly white but as you got closer and more agents appeared it started to look red.
Bucky and Clint were on top of the trucks, shooting the guys that were securing the lab building from a distance.
With Thor and Loki taking down the guards on the tower, blasts came from besides you.
"Bucky, on our right, take them out." You yelled to Bucky who turned and blasted the vehicle and the agents in it.
"They're out, now could you just try to keep us steady? I don't want to fall off of this thing." He complained as you made another twisted turn, avoiding getting wrecked into a tree or a guard tower.
"You're a goddamn supersoldier, I'm sure you'll manage. Plus, it seems like we will have to leave the vehicle behind soon." You looked at the blockade just before you and Natasha.
"In three?" she asked and you nodded to her, pulling out your guns and shooting the men in front of you.
Then the blockade hit the cars. Bucky, Clint, Natasha, and you jumped out of it and over the blockade, knocking some of the guards.
You looked up and saw Loki fight. You've never seen him fight before.
He brought down yet another tower, pulling out knives out of nowhere and then disappearing behind the guards and he knocked the tower to the ground, its wooden form breaking down in pieces.
"Y/N look out!" you heard Steve calling out to you, he came in with his motorcycle, knocking out a Hydra agent who was about to attack you.
"Thanks Steve!" you called him and went to move away and fight.
"No, hop on, I need coverage." You nodded to him despite his bowl of crap. Hopping on the motorcycle behind him, you shot whoever was in sight. You got closer to the lab and in front of you a new rush of agents lined up. "Thor, we need you here."
"Oh no," you groaned. "You're going to do something really stupid, aren't you?"
"No."
"He always does something stupid, Y/N you should know him better." Bucky retorted and you laughed.
Thor came up besides the two of you. Getting down behind some rocks you guarded them.
"It seems like they are lining up for us."
"How kind of them" Thor raised his hammer and Steve his shield and it pounded as they hit each other, the energy sending the guards and the tank flying, obstructing them and their weapons.
Almost at the lab, a tall man stood in front of you, he had a weird shaped weapon in his hand, before you could advance and use your powers on him, the sky suddenly turned dark, you saw lightning and then his pointed weapon shot lightning energy towards you. It was too fast but you were whisked away before it could hit you. One of Loki's hands covered your head while the other snaked around your middle.
He pulled a long spear and was about to shoot it forward when he saw the man had disappeared.
"Brother have you seen that?" Loki called to Thor who ran next to the two of you. Loki still held you, but you pushed him away with a small thank you, looking at Thor instead and taking a few steps backwards.
"What was that?" he looked at his brother.
"It can't be, I destroyed it long ago." Thor shook his head.
"You saw what happened, it had to be it. Nothing else could do it." The blue eyes turned to you. "Are you okay darling?"
"I'm just fine, I can take care of myself." Pulling out your own knives, you saw Natasha and Pietro up ahead. "And don't call me that."
After you left Thor came up to his brother.
"What are you doing? What is going on with her? Loki were you-"
"That is not your business, stay focused on the fight. We need to find that weapon they used."
The inside of the lab was quieter than outside. Tony and F.R.I.D.A.Y detected the German scientists and you split up to look for them, and hopefully take whatever energy core Hydra was here for.
Jumping a story down, it was weirdly quiet.
"Hey guys, I'm in the east wing, something feels wrong." You waited but nothing came back but static, "Guys? Fuck."
Turning around you saw Hydra agents coming out of a door you hadn't seen before, they started to shoot at you, coming from both of your side, you used one guy for coverage, making them shoot at each other. Locking eyes with one of them, he soon fell with a scream, eyes foggy. You slit the throat of the guy you used and focused on him instead. In a field of enemies, he got up and shot everyone he saw around him. Once satisfied you let him fall down alongside all the others he shot.
You saw other agents coming your way but there he was again, Loki pulled you behind him and shot daggers forward and duplicating himself. You saw a couple running away to what you only assumed was another secret door but you lost them as you turned a corner.
"Guys, there's nothing here." The captain voiced through the comms.
"The comms are working again, great." You sighed.
"What do you mean there's nothing here?"
"I'm saying that this was a trap, there wasn't anything special that these scientists were working on, this is not what we thought it was."
"How could we have been wrong here?"
"I don't know but we have to go now, I don't like this."
Soon enough on the quinjet you tended to Clint's wound, he took a nasty shot. And your wounds weren't near as bad.
"Could they have had something that seemed insignificant to them but Hydra needed it for something?" you heard Tony talk to Steve.
"No, they weren't working on anything right now. The lab was for research, not for weapons."
You picked up on another conversation then.
"We have to tell father what we saw, Loki."
"No, I searched the building, and I didn't see the guy nor his weapon. Father will just send an army here when we don't even know what it is we are searching for." Loki reasoned.
You just tried to clear your mind and focus on helping your friend.
The sunset painted the rooms a lovely shade of orange from the windows. It was quiet as people were either resting, or in the infirmary. You walked through the hallway leading to the Avengers elevator to take you to your room.
He came in front of you from the corner.
"Y/N,"
"Hi." You didn't know what to say now, he saved your life twice today.
"Are your wounds alright?" you let him inspect your hands and arms. This was new to him too, seeing you fighting like this.
"Don't worry, they'll heal." He still didn't take his eyes off of you, his delicate petal out here fighting and risking her life.
"Let me heal them." You leaned on one wall as he stood in front of you, covering your wounds with his hand. You heard him mumble a chant and your skin tingled. You told yourself it was from the spell.
Then he looked up at you, and the look in his eyes was one straight out of your daydreams.
"I should just tell you to leave but-" your breath shuddered, your mind trying to make peace with your heart's will.
"I never stopped thinking about you and I." He admitted, you put your hands on his chest and slowly they slipped up to his shoulders.
"I heard that you have some other girl now, I heard they'll be a wedding soon." The pain in your voice did not go unnoticed.
"It's true, but I never thought I'd find you again. That was arranged, nothing happened yet and nothing will happen."
"I never stopped thinking about you too." You bit your lip and pulled him closer to you. "We know exactly where this leads, why go in circles?"
"My love, we can just call it even. We can't ignore this forever." His hand caressed your cheek now, you leaned into him.
"We're always going to come back, aren't we?"
"I'm afraid so, my dear." Your lips finally met, and you let every worry and fear go away, kissing him back with just as much passion and love.
And there it was again.
The first kiss.
"Will you stop messing it up?" you laughed at Loki as he tried to get the music player to work until he finally gave up and let you do it.
"That thing is just stupid midgardian technology, there is no use to it!" he complained as you magically managed to get it to work, a soft melody fell upon the room.
"I finally got you to agree to teach me, this is far from useless!" you laughed as you came up to him, playing with your dress as you twirled in it. You moved the furniture so you could dance in your living room.
"I don't understand why you even want to learn it, no one on Midgard knows it and it is not like you have balls around here anymore." It was quite barbaric to his taste.
"Yes but I want to learn this dance, I bet it is super pretty and elegant," just like you, you thought but didn't speak up. "I bet the balls there are amazing."
Loki showed you the right position and took your hand. He brought you close and prayed that you won't be able to hear his heartbeat.
"They are. Maybe one day I'll take you to see it," you had a bright smile on your face then. "You know, just so that these lessons won't be for nothing."
"Of course, whatever you say." You held onto him tighter as you almost fell. "I expect a nice dress too, I can't come to Asgard with a human earth dress."
He laughed at you, but it turned into a groan when you stepped on his feet, supposedly it was accidental.
"While you look beautiful in this dress, I bet you'll look just as beautiful in an Asgardian dress," you looked up at him surprised, you forgot how close you were, hel you forgot completely about the dance as you just stood there and swayed back and forth. "Like a true Asgardian goddess."
Loki didn't mean to say that but once it left his lips he couldn't even feel embarrassed about it, no he didn't even feel vulnerable when he saw the way you looked back at him. You moved your stare between his lips and his eyes.
"Do you really think that?" you whispered, scared to break whatever it is you have built in this room, in this moment.
"Absolutely." He closed the small distance and he already knew that he was a goner, you took his heart and mended it with your own. He could feel your passion in it, in your first kiss. He'll be damned if it will be your last. You wrapped your arms around him, pulling him ever so closer, deepening the kiss. He smiled then before you pulled away just a bit, a huge smile graced your face and you lit up the room. Your red lipstick was smeared a bit, your bottom lip was swollen, and he wondered if he ever told you how much he liked it when you put this lipstick on.
"This was inevitable, wasn't it?" the smile never left your face and he didn't know what he did to deserve you.
"I'm afraid so." You couldn't keep in the giggle that escaped you, this man will be the death of you, you were sure of it.
He had never felt as loved as he did in that moment.
The kiss after a bad meeting.
Loki got to your home as soon as he could, he couldn't wait to be in your arms. His father was- well, his father as usual. He just needed some peace right now, and that was you.
He walked into your apartment, he saw your computer open on your desk with various papers all around it but he didn't see you.
"Darling?" Loki called you and you pocked your head out of the kitchen. You immediately took off the apron and went to him, he smiled at you even though he knew you'd see right through it- you always did.
When you reached him, you gave him a tight hug, playing with his hair until you felt him relax under you.
Then you pulled back and kissed him so delicately but it was all he needed. Your kisses surely had some magic laced in them, because you somehow made him feel completely content.
"I love you." He whispered to you.
"You what?" you must've heard wrong. You told him you loved him months ago, but you understood that he needed more time, it was harder for him to open up like that. But while he didn't say it, he surely made sure you felt it that night. Sleeping was not included in that.
"I love you." He repeated and you smiled, going to say it back, "Do I smell smoke?"
The kiss after he came back from war after a week of not seeing you.
The moment you saw the green shimmer from the living room, you got out of your bed and all but jumped on your boyfriend as he took off his armor. He managed to balance himself and you, but then you pulled away from the hug and attacked him with a bruising kiss, you gave him easy access to your tongue and tried to pull him closer by his hair.
"I missed you so much." You leaned your head against his forehead, you both panted heavily. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?"
He could see the moment the light bulb in your head lit up and he chuckled, he shook his head but he let you see for yourself, he knew it would calm you down.
You lifted his shirt up and saw the small cuts on his stomach.
"You're not okay! Loki come on, I need to clean these cuts." You dragged him to the bathroom and pulled out your first aid kit.
"Darling, I'm a god, these small cuts don't affect me." He rubbed your back but you didn't listen to him.
"And I'm your girlfriend so shut up and sit down. Maybe you got hit by a poisoned spear or something that is like- I don't know what's up there but I don’t care!" he saw how worried you were, eyes bloodshot, he hated to leave you. So he nodded and let you take care of him, his hand raked through your hair calming you down. He had never felt more cared for, or loved.
You swore at him all kinds of curses, telling him to stay safe and be more cautious.
He swore he was going to marry you someday.
Asgard felt different now. After you went back to your room, with a smile that you tried to hide but he caught, he and Thor went back to Asgard- they needed to check some stuff to make sense of what they saw. It was night now so luckily most of the people were sleeping. Most but not all.
As the princes walked through the corridors, lady Iyllir was there with her maids, which she quickly pushed away when she saw them.
"My princes, I am so glad to see you back in Asgard, it's almost midnight now how come you are still with your armor?" she frowned at the cuts and light bruises she saw in the dim light.
"We just got back, and we are both very tired so we are going-" Thor put a hand, keeping Loki in place.
"It is really late, I'm sure my brother will be happy to escort you back to your chambers?"
"Oh that would be great, thank you my prince, have a good night!" she bowed to Thor and took Loki's outstretched arm. He sent a nasty glare at his brother but walked with Iyllir towards her chambers.
"I hope you are okay, your cuts still haven't healed." She took his hand, gently examining the cuts.
"I assure you I am fine, these cuts will be healed soon. Midgardian weapons cannot wound me badly." He gave her a smile and she only nodded.
"I miss our time together, you are great company. I hope you are staying longer this time."
"We will be staying for a couple of days I assume."
"Oh, great, so tomorrow we can go to that nice garden that you said you will take me to!" she gave him a kiss on the cheek quickly before turning around and walking into her room. "Goodnight, my prince."
He groaned to himself, he did promise to take her there. He pondered about it as he went back to his room. The lady and he had quite a good time- that was before you came back into his life. He walked the long way around to his room.
"This place really is beautiful like you said." The redhead looked around at the flowers that were around them and the tall bushes that created a barrier from the outside of the garden.
"They have been using magic to grow the bushes around the entire ground, making them into walls of this place." He remembered what his mother told him about this place.
"Thank you for bringing me here, I never knew this place existed." She smiled at him and sat on the ground next to him.
"It's my pleasure," and for a moment those barriers made him go back to a couple of months ago, when he would wander around in thought about the lovely lady his father brought for him to meet, soon to arrange a marriage. "Did you manage to finish the book I gave you?"
"I did, it was really interesting. I find history fascinating so the book was splendid to read."
They talked like this for a few more hours, talking about books and exchanging stories.
Before he knew it, Iyllir got closer and closer to him, sitting right beside him. The silver tongued prince went silent when he saw her lean in, all the while smirking at the look on his face before returning her gaze to his lips.
He considered his options. You were his only love, perhaps you always will be, but will you stay after all that is over? Can he still come back to you? He remembered the reason he left, the moment was scorched in his mind but now things were different. Maybe this time he will be able to stay, would you let him? After all, all you agreed about was temporary, just for old times' sake.
Their lips touched now.
"I can't." Loki said, before leaning back from the offended girl in front of him.
"Why not? Our parents brought us together to marry."
"Perhaps yes, but while you are great company I am not ready for this yet. We should go back, I have a meeting to attend to soon."
When they got up, she refused to take his hand. It was a silent walk back.
"Thor, are you sure you checked it all?"
"I did Loki, the vaults were lacking multiple weapons. They were old ones. Do you think you could tell exactly what is missing?"
"I'll do my best." The vaults closed behind them and Loki started to scour the items present, while trying to find the missing.
"I saw you were taking a walk with lady Iyllir today."
"What about it?" Loki went deeper into the place, looking at the empty stands and mentally taking note of all the items that should be there.
"I also saw you were around Lady Y/N a lot. You still haven't told me how you know her." Thor studied his brother, following him to the big closet.
"I was on earth and I happened to meet her, I did tell you."
"I'm not as big of a fool as you think I am, I can see the way you look at her. And the way she looks at you."
Loki didn't know if he was relieved or frightened as he found a way out of this conversation when he opened the doors.
"My wand, Thor my wand is gone!" Loki's eyes went wide alongside Thor when they saw the other weapon that was missing.
"This is ridiculous, why is he throwing a party in the middle of this mess? We can't waste time Thor, we need to tell them what those Hydra mortals have." Loki scowled as he got through the people dancing in the crowded room.
"Will you keep it down Loki? These mortals don't know a thing. I'm sure Tony will listen to us when we find him.
Looking around the room, he saw several other faces he recognized, and then he saw you- grinning and laughing with a guy he did not recognize. One of the mutants- was her name Wanda? She came up to you with a hug, and joined in on the conversation. Maybe it wasn't like what he thought. He hoped so, when you looked straight at him. In the daze, he looked at the tight little skirt you wore, his mind was lost and didn't notice when you reached him. The crowd seemingly closing around you, a barrier that let you be alone without watching eyes.
"See something you like?" you smiled at him, he couldn't help but return it, not ashamed of looking at every inch of your body before answering you.
"Yes, very much" he put his hands on your waist, bringing you closer. You put your arms on his shoulders, keeping him close.
"We said we will start anew, right?"
"Yes." You leaned your head on his chest, and the two of you started swaying not along to the music but to your own heartbeats.
"I missed this, Loki. I missed us." You confessed to him, he didn't have to answer, you knew.
"Did I ever tell you how much I love that red lipstick of yours?" you chuckled and lightly kissed the side of his. He sighed at the contact and your heart fluttered at the red mark your lipstick left on him.
He brought your chin up with his hands and didn't spare a second before attaching his lips to yours. He didn't know how he survived without your kisses, without your touch. He actually did know, it was hel. He would go sleepless at night, conjuring up figures of you beside him but that could only help so much. When he missed you most, he would go to Heimdall and ask about you. He was the only one that knew after all, he was the only one who knew about his only weakness. But then so many things have happened, some distracted him from the loss of you until he got used to it, and some… some he had to keep you in his mind just to survive through the very worst things that were inflicted upon him.
But now that you were in his arms again, he knew it will be even harder to let go of you if you asked him to leave afterwards. And he made sure to show you how much he still loved you in the kiss until you parted and looked at him, your eyes begging.
"Take me home, Loki. Take me away."
With the temptation, it was something he couldn't deny the both of you.
The minute he teleported the two of you to your room, your lips were back on his, pulling him with you until you hit the bed.
You made quick work on taking off the white shirt he wore, as he unzipped your skirt, letting it fall to the ground before he picked you up and laid you beneath him on the bed.
You looked up at him, feeling whole again remembering all those other times you were just like this, he always had the same James Dean type daydream look in his eyes, right before he made sure you remembered who your heart belonged to.
He promised himself to show you how much he missed you, and make up for all those years apart.
You spent the next few hours devoting yourself to each other, you were sure everyone could hear you scream his name in pleasure. But you didn't find it in yourself to care when he made you feel this good.
"What do you mean you didn't get the weapon?" the agent backed away, scared.
"We didn't expect it, and besides- he was there!" begging for his life, he hoped he will get out of these woods alive, the weapon in front of him was powerful enough.
"Who was?"
"There were more of them than usual, we didn't expect him to be there- we couldn't get the weapon!"
"You will be given one last chance to do this right, if you fail I will make sure you pay the price for it."
He was then handed the weapon, wrapped in a cloth.
"Do you remember how to use it?" the agent considered it, before he grabbed it in its hilt.
"And this stone heals it, right?"
"Exactly, use it when I'm gone."
He did just that, pulling out the sword, examining the weight of its powers, looking at the gem stone, then turning back and stabbing the other agent behind him. He let him bleed, before finally taking out the stone, and he watched in wonder and the wound healed. This will be fun.

good day lia! how have you been? i myself have not been so great (i have exams in may 😀) but i'm pulling through! so now i've come to engage in one of my favorite past times - thinking of questions to ask you! ヽ(✿゚▽゚)ノ also i'd love it if you'd ask me some questions as well, since this kind of conversation always puts life in a unique perspective (and really helps me remember that my problems are much smaller than i think).
anyways, here are the questions i've come up with!: 1. where do you find inspiration for your writing? 2. how would your ideal day go? (i honestly can't remember if i've asked you this one before) 3. if you were given the opportunity to do a tour of the solar system (not virtually - in an actual spaceship!) would you do it? 4. what's the wisest piece of advice you could give? 5. favorite flavor ice-cream? 6. if you had to spend a week in any other country of your choice, what would it be? 7. what do you think you should pay more attention to in life? 8. are you afraid of being your true self in front of others? (or have you ever been?) why or why not? ok, i think that's all i can churn out right now! as usual, i look forward to hearing your wonderful perspective on these questions. have an amazing rest of the week ahead! (❁´◡`❁)
- 🌸 anon
Hey dear 🌸 anon! I know exam period can be super stressful but hey! Give it your best and you'll be fine. Actually, I'm pretty sure you'll do great (being stressed also means you care, and if you care I'm sure you'll work hard, and that's all there is to it). What was supposed to be an extremely busy week turned out to be quite mellow... because I got COVID. I have no fever but my body is super sore, and unfortunately with all this time in my hands I can't bring myself to write (mind is fuzzy). Hopefully this afternoon I'll be able to do something. OK, now to the questions:
1. where do you find inspiration for your writing?
My own life, stories people tell me, movies, music... But it's almost always emotions that trigger a new idea. I feel something and I think "what would happen or would have to happen for Vic or Andy to feel this way? In what way can I make them grow emotionally?". Yes, that's pretty much it.
2. how would your ideal day go? (i honestly can't remember if i've asked you this one before)
I think you have asked this before, but I'm answering it anyway, because my answer may or may not be different (the more analytic reader will find out). My ideal day would start with time spent with family, and me nailing a chapter from start to finish (I absolutely love when that happens). It would have to include peace and quiet and good food.
3. if you were given the opportunity to do a tour of the solar system (not virtually - in an actual spaceship!) would you do it?
Absolutely not. :D I remember watching Gravity (the one with Sandra Bullock) and being in a constant state of affliction throughout the movie. I feel the constant need to be anchored to something to feel safe (same reason I am afraid of heights and don't like boats). Even flying is a negative experience for me, although necessary and practical.
4. what's the wisest piece of advice you could give?
Ok, so my father told me this once and it stuck in such a way that I live by it: The world can take anything from you, your house, your family, your money and even your life, but there are two things they can never take from you: your knowledge and your honor.
A smartass with no consideration for others will win once. A knowledgeable, dependable person may lose a few times, as the world is not fair by principle, but it will win in the long run.
5. favorite flavor ice-cream?
PISTACHIO! :D Watermelon is a very close second.
6. if you had to spend a week in any other country of your choice, what would it be?
Japan. I would love to immerse myself in the culture, try their food, get to talk to people. I will one day, it's in my bucket list.
7. what do you think you should pay more attention to in life?
What my heart tells me. I tend to be very logical and practical and often forget to check my feelings, which most times leads to me being incredibly hurt by some feeling I ignored and let go way too far, or by some opportunity I wanted to take and missed because "it wasn't fitting my agenda."
8. are you afraid of being your true self in front of others? (or have you ever been?) why or why not?
I used to be. A lot. I thought I had nothing to offer, and even if I did, it wasn't even worth seeing the light. Self-esteem was always a big issue for me. I still struggle with that sometimes (impostor syndrome, for example) but I force myself to be unapologetically me.
It's a dare of sorts. I show the world what I am and see what it has for me. I came across a lot of rocks, but also found some diamonds, and they make the effort worth it. And with this experience, I learned two lessons: One - everyone has something to offer, and by hiding, we are actually doing a disservice. There is always someone who can relate and take comfort in who we are (either by learning from you or not feeling as lonely). Two - the people that won't like us are usually people that won't matter in the long run anyway. There is nothing wrong with us, there is nothing wrong with them, we just don't fit together, and that's ok. Ok, now I'm going to make some questions myself (and if you see some are maybe too personal, feel free to avoid them). 1- What's your favorite trope? Or theme, in writing? 2- What's your love language? What do you think screams I love you like nothing else?
3 - What makes you lose hope in the world? And what brings you hope?
4 - Tell me about the happiest day/time in your life.
5 - What's the most annoying thing you can think of?
6- And now, sorry, I can't help myself, but related to this story: is there anything you'd like to see happen (an emotion more explored, a scenario, an event) and I haven't written yet? I'm always open to ideas. And we're done for today! I love answering your questions and I'm looking forward to your answers as well!
Thank you so much! And have a great week!

one day...
Hi, y’all! Sorry there’s been such a delay for Chapter 2. I’ve been super busy with school and dance and other activities and all that. Also, I decided about halfway through my original Chapter 2 that I was going to alternate between Virgil and Roman’s perspectives so I had to start a new chapter from scratch. But that means that now-Chapter 3 has already been started, so hopefully I’ll have it done by Friday this week!
A Sander Sides high school AU
Pairing: Prinxiety and some background Logicality
Summary: Virgil is used to being alone. He only has one friend, Logan. But when Logan makes a new friend, things begin to change as two more join their group. Roman, a boisterous theater kid, seems determined to destroy Virgil’s lonely, average life. How much will Virgil’s life change?
Warnings: Some cursing and quick mentions of a possible fight/hospital. If you notice anything else, let me know!
Word Count: 1,919
anyway, here it is!
--------------------------------------------------------
CHAPTER TWO
Roman Princeford is absolutely, completely, terribly humiliated.
He can’t stop blushing in embarrassment, and it only makes it worse when the classes are boring and he can't stop his mind from drifting to that morning. Like now, for example.
Stupid, stupid Roman, he chastises himself. Why didn’t you notice him there, you oblivious dumbass?
He groans and buries his head in his hands.
“Is something wrong, Roman?” the math teacher asks. “Do you need help?” Yes, but not the help you can give me, Roman thinks. He takes a breath and fixes a dazzling smile on.
“No, Mrs. Perry, I’m doing fine! Thank you for your offer of assistance, however!” he exclaims in his usual lyrical way. Roman always makes an effort to seem like he’s reading off a script, especially one where there’s a heroic prince he can play. It always makes him feel better when he plays a part. Then, Roman can imagine that he is the character. The same qualities, traits, life, everything.
He can ignore how stupid he is and pretend he’s a brave, dashing prince. The princes in stories would never have the problems Roman’s been having.
Mrs. Perry walks off, rolling her eyes, not without fondness, and Roman turns back to his math. Shoving his mind out of fantasy, he tries to solve the problems. It seems like he’s gotten nowhere by the time the bell rings. Throwing his paper into his bag, he hurries out of the room.
“Heya, Roman!” Patton Hart, his best friend, calls through the throng of people. Roman slows down so Patton can catch up. “How ya doing?”
“Uhh, Patton, I am a disaster!” Roman proclaims. “You’ll never guess what happened this morning!”
“Oh no! What did you do this time?” Patton asks jokingly as they enter the classroom. History is one of the few classes they have together, so they always walk from fifth period there.
“I was telling a story, a great one, mind you, and knocked over a poor, innocent student!” Roman throws down his bag next to his seat and plops into the hard plastic chair. “I didn’t mean to, I swear. But that wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was who I hit!” Pausing for dramatic effect, Roman finishes, “It was Virgil! I knocked over Virgil Tempest!”
Patton’s mouth forms a small ‘o’. He starts to laugh, but after seeing how embarrassed Roman is, he stops and places a hand on his shoulder. “What did he say?”
“Nothing much. Just some mumble-jumble. But now I can’t stop thinking about him! I didn’t get a single thing done in math! It’s terrible, Patton. My entire life is all going to go downhill from here! I’ll become ineligible for the play because I’m failing all my classes! I won’t be able to graduate, and then I’ll have to work.” He shudders. “That’s it! I’m done for. I’ll never accomplish anything!” He collapses back against the chair for dramatic effect. He knows he’s being very extra, but honestly, what else does anyone expect at this point? He’s Roman Princeford, after all.
If only I were the brave, loud, daring person the whole school thinks I am.
“Woah, woah, woah there buddy!” Patton comforts. “I’m sure you’ll do fine. You aren’t going to fail high school. You just gotta tell him how you feel! Then you won’t have to worry about it anymore!”
Roman looks at Patton in shock.
“Tell him how I feel?” Patton nods, encouraging. Roman sits back up. “And make a fool of myself yet again? No thank you! He hates me, you know that! I’d be better off flunking high school! How could I look into those beautiful brown eyes in that beautiful face and tell him I had a crush on him! Impossible, I say! Impossible!” He throws out his hands, but then remembers that the exact same movement started this whole thing. Quickly, his hands fall back to his sides.
Patton chuckles. “It’s not as hard as you think, Ro-ro! You’ll do great. And I’m sure he doesn’t hate you.” Roman sighs. “Hey, why don’t you—”
“Boys in the back,” the history teacher says, shooting a look at Roman and Patton, “it’s time for class. Pay attention please.” They both nod at turn away from each other and towards the board.
Roman doesn’t pay attention to a single word of the lecture. All he can think about is Virgil’s freckles and his eyes and his lips and his laugh, which Roman had only heard briefly while walking past him but loved nonetheless. How come I’ve never noticed that Virgil had freckles before? he wonders. Goddammit, is that boy just going to keep getting more and more amazing?
Roman chuckles to himself, thinking, Oh my god, I’m so gay. Deciding he should probably start listening to what the teacher is saying, he shoves any and all thoughts of Virgil from his mind and fills the gaps with information about the buildup to World War 1.
After class, Patton rushes up to him. He pulls Roman to the side of the hallway in a little nook where the row of lockers end.
“After school, you should come with me to this coffee shop,” Patton says, a little smile on his face. Roman knows that smile. He’s up to no good.
“Why?” His voice rises with suspicion at the end of the word.
“My lab partner, Logan Wise, you know him, said that we should meet up to work on our project after school.” A blush rises to Patton’s cheeks causing Roman to smirk as he figures it out.
“Someone’s got a cru-ush,” Roman teases, voice sing-songy and laughing.
“That’s not the point,” Patton says, blushing even harder.
“Fine.” Roman lowers his voice to a whisper. “But you can’t hide it from me. I’m the love whisperer, remember?” Throughout their years of high school, Roman had been responsible for setting up many couples. It’s gotten to a point where almost every day, he has someone walk up to him, asking him to help set them up with whoever their crush happens to be.
“Well, maybe I have a crush, but so do you. And you do know who Logan’s best friend is, right?” Patton responds, that same mischievous smile. Roman chuckles, looking around in a fond mix of exasperation and amusement.
“Virgil,” he finally says. Patton’s smile grows wider. “Look, I told you. I can’t talk to him. I’ll just make a fool of myself!”
“Fine,” Patton says. “Suit yourself.” He pats Roman on the shoulder and starts to walk away. Before he’s completely out of sight, he turns and yells, “Just think about it, okay?” Roman rolls his eyes at his friend’s shameless attempts to set him up and heads to choir.
------------------
Slinging his bag over his shoulder, Roman shuts his locker with a bang. He joins the flood of people heading towards the front doors. He spills out of the school and heads towards his car. Once he’s only a few yards away, he unlocks the doors and dumps his things inside the passenger door. After waving to a few other kids on their way out that he knows, he gets into the driver’s side.
Alone, finally, Roman allows himself to drop the fake smile. Ugh, you goddamn idiot. How did you not notice him there? Now he hates you even more. Good going, Roman! Love whisperer, yeah right.
If only I could just talk to him…
Shoving his embarrassment and frustration aside, he starts the car and pulls out of the school, heading home. His route home winds its way through the downtown streets. Roman is so used to driving the same streets, he’s startled to notice something unordinary.
A few cars ahead of him is Patton’s silver car. What is he doing over here? Patton lives on the opposite side of downtown as Roman, and while the town is relatively small, it’s still strange. Roman is sure he’s never seen Patton drive this way home before.
Turning onto 4th Street, Roman watches Patton, now directly ahead of him, park in an open spot in front of one of the little shops lining the street. The sign above says “The Sanders Cafe” in swirly cursive lettering. A decal of a little cupcake sitting next to a cup of coffee accompanies it.
Oh, right, Roman remembers. Patton and Logan were meeting up to work on their chemistry thingy.
And Virgil is probably going to be there. No matter how much he tries to block the thought, it still shows up. Roman has tried to get Virgil out of his mind, but it never works. He always pops up when Roman least expects it. Frankly, Roman finds it quite frustrating.
Lost in thought, Roman turns one intersection too early. “I guess I’ll just go around the block,” he sighs. It had been a long day, and he was looking forward to crashing when he got home. The detour would only cost about 5 minutes but still. Annoying.
Roman’s phone buzzes in the center console while he’s waiting to turn back onto 4th Street, the one with the cafe on it. One quick glance down at it tells Roman it’s from Patton. Checking the road to make sure he has the time, he looks back to read what it says.
“Patton…” he groans.
“I think you should come to the cafe with me. I’m waiting outside. Just give it a chance, kiddo!” reads the text message. However much Roman would like to deny it, he does want to go with Patton. On impulse, he finds a parking spot and pulls in. Patton is parked a few spots down, still sitting in his car. He hasn’t noticed Roman yet, and Roman’s glad for that.
“Come on, Roman,” he says, trying to give himself a pep talk. “Think about what a prince would do. He’d charge in there without a second thought. It wouldn’t matter what would happen because it would be in the name of love. You got this. What’s the worst that could happen, besides Virgil hating the sight of you so much he instantly fights you the second he sees you and you lose and have to go to the hospital and become the laughing stock of the school because while under anesthesia you admit your feelings for Virgil and now everyone knows and—”
A knock on the driver’s side window cuts Roman’s worrying off. When Roman looks up, he sees Patton’s grinning face. The other boy waves enthusiastically and gives him a thumbs up.
You got this. Be a prince, Roman. It’s in your name, after all. Taking a deep breath and clenching his fists in determination, Roman grabs his phone off the console and double checks to make sure he has his wallet.
Patton practically assaults him the moment he steps outside the car, talking in a rapid stream of words, but Roman can’t hear anything over the ever-increasing beating of his heart. They walk up to the front door, Patton ahead of Roman, still rambling about something from foods class.
The moment they walk in, the little silver bell dinging above them, Roman forgets all his worries because there Virgil is, sitting in a booth with another boy, — Logan, probably — his hair falling in front of his face, teeth gnawing on his lip in concentration and Oh god, that boy is beautiful.
And then Virgil looks up at them, and Roman swears he can feel his heart drop all the way to the ground.

Reckless
Part 11
Master List
Three months seems to fly by.
T’Challa was right to have you stay far from the city. Apparently his cousin came back looking for revenge. You had wanted to help. Especially after you learned T’Challa died but Shuri told you to stay hidden and be ready to flee. There was also a CIA agent in Wakanda. That was enough deterrent to keep you hid away. She assured you that Bucky would be safe for now. You begged her to give you the codes to get him out if things got worse. She did and gave you specific instructions only to do so if it was the last option. Not only you going back into the city but trying to get him out would be tough. So you stayed put waiting for any word from her. It wasn’t until after the battle when T’Challa showed up at your house. He survived and Wakanda was safe for now. The two of you spent most of one afternoon talking. “I appreciate everything you have given me T’Challa but I also don’t want to take advantage of you. Is there something that I can do while I’m here? I’m a good pilot, I can track just about anyone down, I also spent some time working with Tony in weapons development.” You leaned forward in your seat, looking ahead of you at the water. “I’m sure we can find something to occupy your time yn. Please do not feel like you are a burden here.” “I know.” You let out a sigh. “Part of me is yelling to just take a break. Even when I was tracking down Bucky I was still doing a lot of other surveillance. I don’t think I even know how to slow down.” “Shuri will be sure to help with that.” He laughed. “She always finds time to slow down and have fun. Even while working harder than almost everyone I know. I think you two will get along.” “I hope so!” You turned to him and smiled. “It will be nice to have someone to maybe be a little girlie with.” “In that case you are more than welcome to work with her.  She can definitely put your skills to work.” He set his drink down and stood. “If you are also interested, I think we can find you a place in the city to stay.” “Are you sure?” “Yes. I don’t foresee any issues now. Wakanda maybe opening her borders but you will still be safe.” “Thank you.” You stood as well now and shook his hand. I am really grateful for everything and I don’t think I will ever stop saying thank you. He just gave you a smile and laugh as he walked back to his transport.
It took a few weeks to get everything in order for you to start work with Shuri and move into the city. But once you finally got settled it didn’t take long to fall into a very familiar routine. Mornings were spent having breakfast on the balcony of your apartment. It was the perfect size for you. A large living room that was able to comfortably hold a couch and tv. But also a work station. Shuri was really throwing you into the deep end of Wakandan tech. You couldn’t get enough of it though. It was amazing the things they could do with the vibranium. It touched just about every part of their lives. The kitchen was probably bigger than you needed. You rarely cooked anymore. It reminded you too much of Steve. That shit head had only called you once since he left. He found Nat. Wanda was doing better. She was still having nightmares about the Raft but having Nat around was helping. They were still going out on missions to help where they could. He asked how Bucky was doing even though there wasn’t much to tell. Shuri had one of the doctors on it. Every day they were going over scans and what not. You tried to not be there. Using that time instead to train with the Dora. They had such a different fighting style. You were so used to the brute force that Steve taught you. They were graceful. Using their weapons as extensions of themselves. They regularly beat your ass. Shuri got you to go to the clubs a couple times a week. T’Challa was right. She worked hard but wasn’t going to let any fun pass her by. And now she made it her job to make sure it didn’t pass you by either. Any time not in the lab or training was spent doing something fun. First she mostly just drug you out shopping then it became actually wearing those clothes to go out. Natasha would have been proud at how much you had grown comfortable in your skin. Anytime the Avengers had a party she made sure you didn’t get away with wearing anything that didn’t show the most skin possible. Now that was second nature. It also helped to forget about the frozen super solider. The first week was hard. So many dreams about him. You only actually knew him for less than a week. But he infiltrated your mind thoroughly. Now he barley crossed your mind. Only coming up when Shuri would talk about the progress they were making. That was taken care of by going and sparing with Ayo. “I think we should be able to wake Bucky up in a week or so.” Shuri was chatting with you while you tinkered with a new design for a suit. “Already?” “What do you mean already! We have been at it for almost three months.” She walked around the table so she was across from you. “I know I know.” You leaned your arms on the table. “What would the next steps be?” “Probably a few more weeks for scans and maybe some reconditioning. Then testing the Winter Solider words.” She talked like that was the easiest thing in the world. “He’s not going to like that. Hopefully Steve can be here for that.” The thought of using Bucky so Steve would come back made you smile. “If not, I’m sure we can handle it. And I think you will be able to talk to him about making sure the words don’t work anymore.” You looked up just in time to see her give you a smirk. She knew just enough about the dreams when Bucky first went under and then how you are always absent during his scans. You just rolled your eyes at her though. Bucky was an ass right before he went under. Even though he tried to apologize the words were still there. You were there because of Steve. You cared because Steve needed you to care.   The next week you spent almost no time in the lab. You didn’t even go out with Shuri. Instead all your energy went into sparing. It felt like you were there from sun rise to sun set. It got worse after the first three days. That’s when you finally got Steve on the phone. He wouldn’t make it back to be there when Bucky woke up. And the likelihood that he would be able to come when the words were tested was still up in the air. “If not for him Steve. For me? I miss you.” “I know sweetheart heart. But with us running missions I just can’t risk it.” “Fuck you.” You headed outside from the sparing room. “I went two years barely seeing you and now this.” “I know.” You heard him sigh. “I want to be there. Even if it’s just for you. But I need to make sure that you are both safe.” You heard voices through the phone. “Is that Nat?” “Yea. I got to go yn.” You didn’t say anything back, just hung up the phone on him. “Everything ok?” Ayo had joined you on the balcony. “No. But there’s nothing I can really do right now.” You knew that at least until Bucky woke up you needed to stay put. Maybe after you could start chasing down Steve and beat his ass for leaving you again. “Do you need a break?” “Nope. The only way to deal with this is fighting.” You smiled and headed back in. Shuri and Ayo were staring to get concerned with the amount of time you spent in the gym. If it wasn’t sparing, it was lifting. Anything you could do to take your mind off Steve and Bucky.
You knew that today was the day. You couldn’t sleep last night. Just scrolling through surveillance feeds and running some tracking software. T’Challa had let you slowly help with some missions the Nakia was working on. Right now she was tracking down some bad guy in South Africa. He was dealing in weapons and people. It was nice to get more distractions other than training the last few days. Now the sun was starting to come up so it wouldn’t be so obvious if you went to the gym. After sending off the information to Nakia, you changed into workout clothes and headed out. Shuri caught you just as you were walking into the citadel. “Oh. Where are you off to?” She knew. “Gym. Just the usual.” You pushed the button for the elevator. “We are waking Bucky up today.” “I know.” She followed you onto the elevator. Before you could press the floor you wanted she hit the button for the lab. “Good. T’Challa is waiting for us.” “Shuri I don’t think-” “Nope. You are going to be there. Kings orders!” She damn near skipped off the elevator. You trudged behind her. This was going to be a long day. Everything was set up just how it was when Bucky was placed in cryo. The only difference was Bucky was in the cryo tub and you stood alone. Even T’Challa was busy talking to someone. You just took up a spot behind the busyness of the room. As much as you tried to look anywhere but, you keep finding Bucky. He looked at peace. His features relaxed while he slept. The longer you watched him the more your surroundings faded away. It felt a little odd just staring at him while he was frozen. But you could stop. You noticed all the small scars on his face, the way his skin met the metal of his shoulder, the definition of his muscles under his shirt. “They are ready to start.” T’challa’s voice broke you from your thoughts. “Ok.” You nodded slightly, allowing all the noise of the room to come back. “How long will it take?” “Once he’s clear of the chamber, it should take about an hour or so for him to wake up. The whole process takes about two hours.” Shuri shouted at you over the noise. T’Challa placed a hand on your shoulder and offered you a chair. “Thank you.” You sat down and scooted the chair so you could still see Bucky. The minutes dragged on as everyone went through the checks to get Bucky awake. T’Challa stayed next to you. He was talking about something but you mind went back to Bucky. “When is he going to have the rest of the HYRDA arm removed?” You knew that you had interrupted whatever T’Challa was talking about. “Hopefully in the next few weeks. It will be up to him though.” You could feel T’Challa watching you as you watched Bucky. “I’m sure he will want it gone soon.” “I sure he will.” “He’s stable. Ready to open.” One of the doctors moved toward the chamber.  Shuri quickly glanced back at you. You gave her a slight nod. “Let’s crack him open.” You heard T’Challa snicker at his sister’s remark, but you just stayed focused. The chamber opened. Several men came forward and maneuvered Bucky around to lay on the bed. A steady beeping was coming from the monitors. “Still stable. Getting ready to start phase two.” Shuri moved forward to the bed and injected something into the IV line. Slowly you noticed people staring to filter out of the room. Soon enough it was just Shuri, T’Challa and you left. “Yn?” “What’s up?” You stood and headed to Shuri. “All that is left is to just wait for him to wake up. I am going to head over to weapons and do some work. Will you stay here with him?” She noticed the worried you had on your face at her words. “If anything starts to go wrong, you can just hit this button and I will be right back.” “Right. Ok.” T’Challa moved the chair you had been sitting in next to the bed. Both of them quietly headed out of the room. Leaving just you and a sleeping Bucky. “Well shit.” You plopped down into the chair and laid your head on your arms on the bed. You let your eyes close, finally tired from the night before.
“Yn?” You head shot up. “Bucky?”

Jumin week 2020 Day 3 (Video Games) @juminweek2019
The group chat was noisy again. Every now and then a message pinged on her phone, distracting her from working on the invitations for the next party. But there it was, another ping. And another. The young girl sighed and opened the messenger too, everybody was online and the chat was busy discussing Zen’s new role and Jaehee’s long wished vacation, which she chose to spend on Jumin’s island - alone. Nothing majorly important, Mc said a quick hello and asked how every member was doing and closed the app again.
Suddenly she got a call from Jumin. Mc panicked a little bit and nearly let her phone fall out of her hands. Jumin Han was calling her. B-But why now? Is there something he wanted to tell her? She really wanted to pick up, but…. how was she supposed to greet him? Her fingers finally found the green button and she answered with an embarrassed “Hiya!”
wow she could have said so many cool things but all she could come up with was hiya….
“Hello Mc, I’m glad to hear your voice. There’s something I wanted to ask you, but let me be cliche first: How was your day?”, she tried to imagine how he looked liked right now. It was pretty late already so probably he just got home, maybe he was wearing his shirt a little bit opened up, with a loose tie around his neck. The mere thought of it made her heart skip a beat.
“Mc?” Jumin asked, with concern in his voice, “Is something the matter, you seem rather distracted today.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m currently working on the invitations and did some paper work today too.” she sighed while looking at the clock. It was so late already. When did it get so dark?
“I’m glad that you are so reliable with your work as party coordinator, Mc, I’m so proud of you.” she could hear his smile through the speaker of her phone and squeaked. The wonderful Jumin Han was proud of her????OMG!!!
“What was that sound, have you seen a bug? Did something happen to you?” he asked
“No, no I’m fine. It’s nothing, I’m sorry, I just saw a cute cat photo.” she answered and sighed. Phew. Hopefully he won’t find out about your crush on the CEO.
“Ah, I’m glad then. Now here’s my question… I wanted to ask you if you could help me with something.”
“Sure go ahead.” Mc nodded even though he could not see it.
“Thanks, a business partner sent me a switch some time ago and… Oh wait you that already, because we played Mario cart at the after party last time, right?”
Mc laughed as she remembered that night. It was so much fun gaming with them together, seeing them all laughing and having a good time. She also remembered Jumin driving into the direction, driving through banana peels and falling off the track from time to time. Sometimes when he focused on driving Jumin would stick his tongue out. But that only happened after he had a couple of wine glasses.
Mc blushed and was thankful that Jumin couldn’t see her right now.
“yeah I remember.”
“I bought animal crossing some days ago and was wondering if you got the game too?”
“I do. Wanna visit me?” she asked now with a cheesy grin on her face. That was quite the surprise.
“Can we do it now? I think I really need some help. I bought some turnips last week and now the prices have fallen down. May I visit your island?” he chuckled, maybe he was thinking it was ridiculous. But it just made him more adorable.
“Of course you can, I am starting the game right now and boy, do I have a surprise to show you! Oh and Jumin?” she tilted her head, put her bangs behind her ear. “Can you wear a suit please?”
“I always wear one.” he laughed.
“I mean in game.”
“Like I said, I always wear one.” he repeated himself. How cute.
The both of them spoke a bit more until she was ready and opened the gates of her airport, immediately getting the notification that someone was coming. When she saw him finally setting foot on her island, her smile got even brighter. Jumin opened the map and gasped. Her whole island was cat themed. Every resident on it a cat, and there was a giant lake in the shape of a cat’s head on the map too.
When she heard his soft laughter she couldn’t help but laugh too.
“You like it?” she grinned.
“I love it! This is such a great idea, Mc! Your island looks amazing. I have to take notes I guess. I didn’t know you could do all these things.” He talked on and on as she showed Jumin everything.
Last but not least Mc guided him to her house. He walked inside and soon after she heard another soft chuckle from the other side of the phone.
“Y...you.. You really have a great taste Mc, now I think I have to sell my turnips! It’s super late, and I don’t want to bother you anymore.” He quickly said, running into the direction of Nook's cranny. He didn’t say another word.
What did just happen? she wondered and went inside her home, and in her “bedroom” she found the reason for it. There were two Photos of Jumin hanging on the wall, and another picture in between them saying the words: “my love”.
Mc slapped her forehead and didn’t know whether she should laugh or cry. How could she have forgotten about this?!
“Jumin?” she asked nervously.
“hmm?” his voice sounded deeper than before.
“I’m sorry… I.. uhmm…” Mc stuttered, being unable to find the right words.
“Was this the surprise you wanted to show me?” the young man asked, there was no emotion in his voice.
“No,... my god it’s so embarrassing. But I think I’ve got to tell you either way, now that you saw it.” her hand rubbed over her forehead, and she took a small sip from her glass of water before speaking up again.
But Jumin cut her of: “Look, I really like you too, but that’s not something I’d like to discuss over the phone or through animal crossing. Would you like to drink a cup of tea or coffee with me tomorrow?”
Mc nodded, and agreed to his plan, and they both agreed on never speaking about this little incident again. After he sold his turnips, they sat down on a bench together, playing with their emotes. Only then Jumin commented how cute Mc’s character actually looked like. The colour scheme reminded him of something. Then it struck him like lightning: It was Elizabeth the 3rd. She laughed when he told her and explained to him that this was the actual surprise. They talked for nearly another hour, enjoying each other's company and gazed at the night sky together. “You are really something special Mc, thank you for brightening up my day, I’ll pick you up at 3pm tomorrow. Have a good night then, my dear.” Jumin said with the softest voice the young girl ever heard of him.
When she finally went to bed, Mc still felt the blush on her cheeks, and she couldn't stop smiling. Things went a little bit different... but she was about to go on a date with Jumin. The man of her dreams.  What a day this has been.

A Sweet Encounter
                (Sanji x Female S/O)
Hey Guys! I’m super excited, this is my very first fic I’ve ever wrote and I don’t know but i’m kinda proud of it. This fic is done for @some-piece AU challenge. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, you need to! Bas you are one of my favorite writers and are one of a few who have inspired me to write, thank you so much! I choose the Bakery AU. My list of characters I received was Trafalgar Law, Sir Crocodile, Sanji, Marco, and Kalifa. There aren’t really any warnings in this fic other than it being super fluffy. I hope you guys enjoy!
Tumblr media
It was an ordinary Friday in July. It could have been cooler for your tastes as the bakery you work in always feels like a million degrees at all times of the day. Five fans were on and you already felt like you were melting and it wasn’t even noon yet.
Rolling your eyes you try to focus on the wedding cake you're currently decorating, instead of what felt like a massive heat wave in the bakery. It was exciting because this was your last cake to decorate today and you were just looking forward to going home and maybe taking an early nap. There was also the option of ordering take out, just thinking of all the possibilities made you look forward to finishing this cake so you could finally leave.
As you were thinking of all the options for your boring night after work. It happened, the most unexpected, felt like a life changing moment but you were trying not to get ahead of yourself just yet. One moment you were decorating a cake, the next moment you looked up and out the window and saw the most gorgeous man. He hadn't looked at you just yet but you could feel it in your bones that he was very attractive. Mystery man had blonde hair, he was tall and slender. Wearing a blue button down dress shirt and black slacks, and boy do you love a man in a classy outfit. It was slightly funny because as put together as he looked I could tell he was heatedly yelling at someone over the phone. Then he turned around.
From the second he turned around we made eye contact. The intensity of our gaze made you drop the piping bag you were holding on the table. He had grey blue eyes that immediately reminded me of storm clouds. His blonde hair was swept to the side covering his right eye. He has these interesting eyebrows that everyone probably wouldn't find attractive, but you were drawn to them and found them to be uniquely beautiful. The way his eyebrow came down and swirled up was so intriguing. To top it all off, he had a thin strip of hair on his chin. Giving him a slightly ruggedly handsome face. Overall your instincts were right and he was gorgeous and you never wanted to look away.
The eye contact only lasted realistically for 30 seconds, but to you it felt like a lifetime. You were a little sad to see he broke eye contact, but were immediately excited again when you realized he was turning to walk into the bakery. Washing your hands real quick and making your way up front so you can casually greet this hot mystery man, pretending you hadn’t intentionally walked up from the back just to meet him. Glancing in a mirror to make sure your bun and headband, that held all the hair out of your face while baking, still looked cute and not crazy. Feeling ready and excited to meet him, you step out of the back into the front and walk behind the counter. As you’re walking you glance up and meet his gaze again. Smiling up at him you introduce yourself as you finally reach the front counter.
“Hello, welcome to Fairytale Confectionery my name is (y/n), how can I help you today.”
“Ahh, what a beautiful name to match such a beautiful woman.” He says, as he grabs your hand and lightly brushes his lips against the back of your hand in the most charming feather light kiss. “My name is Sanji, a few moments ago I was mad at my mosshead idiot friend who gave me the worst directions in my life.” He says, as he drops your hand and leans both of his forearms against the glass counter. “Although, I may have to break down and thank him. For if he never gave me terrible directions, I may never have met you.” He said, giving you the most disarming smile you had ever seen.
“Wow, what a charmer you are. I bet all the women just love you.” You said, in a slightly sarcastic way. “With that being said, Please give my thanks to your friend who you called a mosshead idiot.” You say as you giggle and glance down to try to hide your blushing face. “Mainly, because so far it has been very lovely to meet you Sanji. Now can I get anything for you?” You asked him, as you finally dared to look up and make eye contact with him again.
“Two questions. First, is there anything in this case that is as sweet as you?” He asked as he laughed a little noticing that you rolled your eyes and were slightly shaking your head. “Okay okay, the first question was rhetorical, but seriously what’s your favorite thing you make. I want to try that.” He said, slightly laughing at his attempts to flirt with you.
“Well, to your first question I just want to say you’re so ridiculous.” You said, as you continue to laugh and shake your head, slightly covering your mouth with your hand. “Secondly, if I had to choose my favorite thing in the bakery, that would be hands down our cinnamon rolls!” You exclaim, while grinning widely because you can’t help it. It’s a natural reaction when you get to talk about your favorite baked goods.
“Well then, I would love to get one cinnamon roll please and possibly your phone number?” Sanji asked hopefully while holding up his phone.
“I can grab you a cinnamon roll and as far as my number, you’ll have to wait and see.” You say winking at him, while grabbing his cinnamon roll and placing it in a container. Walking over to the register you ring his order up.
“So Sanji, will that be all for you?” You ask, as you smirk at him.
“That depends (y/n), what do I have to do to get your number?” He asked, while giving you the cutest puppy dog eyes.
“Hmmmm… I’m not really sure yet.” You say tapping your chin and shrugging your shoulders.
You take his payment for his cinnamon roll. As you hand him the container your hands brush for a second and you feel a spark run up your arm. He looks into your eyes and as he goes to turn around to leave. You realize that you don't want your banter with Sanji to end so you blurt out really fast “Sanji Wait! I forgot to give you a napkin!”
Sanji turns back around and notices a folded up napkin in your hand and grabs it. He opens it up and sees your name (y/n) followed by a series of numbers written in the middle of the napkin. He looks back up at you and grins.
“Well (y/n), thank you and just so you know your name is going in my contacts as Cinnamon Roll.” He said, as he winked at you one last time and turned to leave the bakery.
“Have a great rest of your day, Sanji.” You call out to him as he is walking towards the door.
“You as well my Cinnamon Roll.” He calls back at you, right before he walks out the door.
Feeling super giddy and laughing about his nickname for you and about the interaction you just had with Sanji. You head back into the kitchen and finish your cake and head home feeling like your life hopefully won't be so boring and monotonous anymore.
Over the course of two weeks you and Sanji get to know each other very well. You found out he was an executive chef at a popular fine dining restaurant, that’s known for their amazing french cuisine. Sanji found it very ironic that you were a pastry chef. His exact words when you told him were.
“(y/n) just think about it! We could be called the Chef’s Ultimate Power Couple!” He said over the phone, during one of your late night three hour long calls.
You just laughed and shook your head at him, even though he couldn't see your head shaking. You started to look forward to the nightly calls, it basically was the highlight of your day and you could never wait to get to talk to Sanji. Since you both were super busy with work and both working in the food industry, meant so far you both haven’t had a night where you were free to go on a proper date yet.
After two amazing weeks of talking and getting to know one another, you both finally had a night where you could go on a proper date. Since you were both chefs, Sanji came up with the most perfect first date idea and you couldn't be more excited.
He mentioned the idea of you coming over to his apartment and you both could cook and bake together. He would prepare a romantic dinner that only you deserve, which made you laugh when he was telling you all about his idea. While he would be cooking dinner, you would be next to him baking the dessert. He said that it was the perfect combo and would be the best first date ever. With every day that passed, your date drew closer and you were getting more and more excited as the days went by.
On the night of the date, you arrived at Sanji’s apartment at 6:30 sharp just like he asked you too. Feeling nervous and excited, you knocked on Sanji’s door. When he opened the door you both blushed at seeing each other for the first time in two weeks, since the day you met at the bakery. He held out his hand for you to take as he led you into his apartment and shut the door behind you.
“Wow (y/n), how is it that you got even prettier in the two weeks since I've seen you?” Sanji asked, pulling you into a hug. While he also was admiring the simple black flowy dress you were wearing for the date. You decided on a simple classic dress because you felt so beautiful in it, but also because you knew you would be baking and didn't want to accidentally ruin one of your really nice dresses. Mainly, in the off chance you accidentally spilled something that would stain while baking, you had a habit of being very clumsy sometimes with liquid ingredients.
“I don’t know, but whatever I did you also have done, because you look so handsome. I am so lucky to be on a date with you.” You told him, while pulling back from the hug. As you also were admiring the (your favorite color) dress shirt and black slacks he had on. When you guys were getting to know each other you told him what your favorite color was and he must have wanted to surprise you because here he was, wearing your favorite color and looking so handsome that it should be a sin to look that good.
“No (y/n), I am the luckiest guy to be on this date with you!” He said, while leading you into the kitchen so you both could start working on dinner and dessert.
He had a big open concept kitchen with a big butcher’s block island in the middle, and double stack ovens with a matching gas stove. This is a kitchen that you could only dream of. It was probably every chef’s dream kitchen and of course Sanji had your dream kitchen. He leads you to the middle of the kitchen, to the island that had all the ingredients you both would need already laid out.
“I'm speechless, Sanji. This kitchen is amazing and honestly my dream kitchen. I love it so much!” You couldn’t help but gush, while still looking around and taking everything in.
“Thank you (y/n), it’s honestly my favorite place in this whole space. Cooking is when I do all of my thinking and where I get most of my ideas. So I wanted my kitchen to be a place of comfort and ultimately my favorite place in my apartment because I knew I was going to spend a lot of my time in here creating.” He explained, as he walked around and started to prep ingredients for dinner.
You both fell into a nice rhythm while cooking together. The conversation was light and funny, you couldn’t believe how hard he was making you laugh. As you were measuring flour out for your recipe, an idea popped into your head. Knowing how much a little bit of flour stands out against black, you wondered if you could get away with leaving a hand print of flour on his pants or his shirt without him noticing.
Trying to discreetly cover your hand in flour, you walk over to Sanji hiding your hand hoping to look like you were just coming over to watch him cook. You place your hand on the small of his back. He looks over and down at you noticing that you had walked over a little suspiciously, but couldn’t figure it out.
“What are you up too?” He accuses you, smirking down at your oh so innocent face.
“Who Moi?” you asked as you hid your hand that was covered in flour behind your back and used your other hand to cover your heart and make a sad hurt face at Sanji.
“Yes you (y/n), you got quiet for two minutes, got a mischievous look on your face and then proceeded to walk over here. What are you up too and why are you hiding your left hand.” He jokingly accused as he turned to face you and tried to grab the hand you were hiding.
“What nothing! I’m hiding nothing, don’t you trust me” You exclaimed. Not wanting to get caught you turned around quickly to go back to where you were baking, but you hadn’t realized that you got flour on your back as well. Sanji quickly tried to look at this back where he felt your hand and noticed a lot of flour in the shape of your hand print on his shirt.
“ I knew it! I just knew you were up to something over there (y/n)!” He yelled.
Turning back to look at him you noticed he also had a mischievous look in his eyes and was grinning too much for your liking. You started to slowly pace around the island making sure he stayed on the opposite side as you.
“You're going down for this (y/n), so you better get ready!” He goaded while laughing. You watched as he passed in front of the flour, he grabbed a handful. Then took off running around the island to try to get to you.
“AAHHH!! SANJI DON’T!!” You yelled, as you took off running and laughing but also not wanting to get flour dumped on you.
Which is why you were running, because you just knew he was going to dump the handful of flour he was holding on you if he caught up to you. While chasing each other in circles around the island, you grabbed a handful of flour as you passed by. Turning around quickly you ran into Sanji. As you ran into him you threw the flour in his face, but not before he threw the flour he was holding in your face.
“AAAHHHH!” You both screamed at the same time. Then promptly fell into a laughing fit over how ridiculous you both looked covered in flour and the situation you both were in.
It took ten whole minutes to clean up the kitchen and sort of clean off your outfits. Sanji being the perfect gentleman, offered you a change of clothes but you declined. Mainly because you thought tonight has been so fun and amazing and you sort of wanted a reminder of how ridiculous you guys have been together. When you both finally sat down to have your dinner, it was with a happy fun filled heart and nothing about the night felt like it could get anymore perfect.
“I knew you just had to be up to something earlier when I caught you being shifty. I'm glad I caught you because I think that is the most fun I have ever had on a date before.” Sanji confided as he walked you out to your car and opened your door for you to climb in.
“It was a ton of fun, wasn’t it? I have to agree with you because that was also the most fun I've ever had on a date. I can’t wait for our second date.” You said as you looked up into his eyes, noticing he still had flour right above his eyebrow. Smiling, you lifted your hand and wiped your thumb across his eyebrow removing the leftover flour, loving the way his curly eyebrow felt against your thumb.
“Will you be my girlfriend.” Sanji blurted out.
“Yes. I thought you’d never ask.” You replied before he could say anything else.
Standing up on your tip-toes you kissed his cheek and quickly got in your car. You looked out your window and saw Sanji blushing and holding his cheek that you kissed. He was giving you the cutest dazed deer in the headlights look. You were also blushing, you gave him one last radiant smile before you started to drive home.
Little did you know that from that night on. It became a game, whenever you both were cooking or baking together, that one of you would end up with a floured hand print somewhere on their bodies by the end of the night. Preferably without the other person noticing or knowing.

Watching the Clone Wars, Part 5
Hey, I’m actually being prompt this time, and not letting this sit on my desk for the rest of the week.  Good for me!  In this viewing session, we watch one “good” arc, and one terrible one.  Guess which is which ;)
“Storm Over Ryloth” (1x19)
Aw, the fourteen year old is going to engage in very dangerous dogfighting?  For those of you old enough to remember X-Wing: Rogue Squadron, remember how leery Starfighter Command was of letting sixteen year old Gavin Darklighter join Rogue Squadron?  More innocent times, for sure.
Anyway, Ahsoka just got eleven men summarily killed, all to set up a tedious episode on the nature of command.  It’s so wild how Rex and the bridge officer clone actually defer to her.  Maybe, just maybe, GAR would win if they gave a bit more power to the highly-trained war machines the Jedi purchased, eh?  Instead of the barely-trained teenagers with no business in a war zone.
I’m not even going to talk about the actual tactics because they’re superfluous.  It’s a shame the jedi don’t understand the purpose of consolidating their force and utilizing a joint attack.  Maybe Anakin could have saved a ship or two if he, Mace, and Obi-Wan had attacked as a group.
No, you’re right.  That’s too smart.
“Innocents of Ryloth” (1x20)
Obi-Wan’s low-impact strategy is a bit stupid.  Like, the CIS is explicitly engaging in terrorist tactics on Ryloth, the Twi’leks most likely have no homes to return to.  But, whatever, that’s not the point of the episode.  The point of this episode is Waxer and Boil.  I love them, but I also love the casual specie-ism/racism on Boil’s part.  Dude grew up on Kamino, which is basically an isolated military boarding school, where would have learned a word like “tailhead”?
Oh, that’s right, the scum of the earth working as trainers.  Never mind!  I like to think that the clones, while generally very nice and polite young men, also have a very strange idea of appropriate language and conduct outside of their very isolated, insular upbringing.  I do love ye olde culture clash plotline!
The CIS continues to devolve with internment camps, animal cruelty, and yes, weaponizing animals to kill clones in a suitably horrific way.  Good job, guys, way to lower the bar!  With that said, Numa is adorable, and it’s amazing that she managed to survive on her own in this ghost-town while her family and community have been rounded up into camps.
Obi-Wan may be a subpar general, but he is definitely a very capable psychic super-soldier.  The fight scenes were incredibly enjoyable to watch, and although it’s a bit silly, I did really like the Twi’leks pulling the tactical droid who was their warden out of his tank with their bare hands - they definitely deserved that.
“Liberty on Ryloth” (1x21)
This is a Mace Windu episode, and I am here for it.  What an icon, what a legend.  I do think that he is portrayed as having exceptional control of the Force, and it’s always really interesting to see him use it in a fight.  The episode is a fairly basic one: He’s trying to link up with Cham Syndulla to get rid of the rest of the CIS army; the senator for Ryloth, Orn Free Taa, is more concerned about the disposition of political power on Ryloth after the invasion is complete.  I have...so many questions about how political power on Ryloth is distributed: is Orn Free Taa the ruler of the planet and the Senator, or is there a different kind of power-sharing agreement?  Is Cham Syndulla just the sort or ordinary person thrust into extraordinary times, especially by the abandonment of their people by their leadership and the Republic?  It strikes me as a setting rich with potential plots.
Of course, that’s only a small part of the episode, which is mostly Mace being a badass and basically being a one-man army.  Again, the direction is remarkably good in this episode.  As usual, air supremacy is not a factor in this war.   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.  Even though AT-RTs really make no sense, I want one very badly.  Lastly, based on the clone trying to pet the blurrg and Boil and Waxer’s treatment of Numa last episode, I believe the clones are going through that stage where they just want a pet of their very own.  It is actually a little adorable.
Shout-out to the tactical droid obtaining full sentience and ditching his boss and lying to Dooku.  Still wish that a subplot of Dooku’s droids turning against him had been a thing.
Season 1 Restrospective:  It only took five weeks, but we are finally finished with this season, save for 1x22, which is actually set sometime in the third season.  There were some high points, but man, this was an absolute slog mostly.  There were way too many Jar Jar episodes, and the clones were not given nearly enough screen time.  “Rookies” and “Lair of Grievous” were the outstanding stand-alone episodes imho, and the “Ryloth” and “Malevolence” arcs were generally ok, with two of their three episodes being rewatchable.
But in a series about the clone wars, there is very little character development of the actual clones - like, poor Rex is barely a presence in this season.  And the CIS is just so cartoonishly awful that I can’t take it seriously at all.  It actually does strain my belief that Palpatine could keep these plates spinning for more than a week.  Anakin is just...blah.  And although I know I’m supposed to like Ahsoka, I just can’t help but find her annoying, mostly because she’s a kid.
Well, we’re about one-sixth of the way through.  She’s got another six seasons to grow on me - and hopefully she will, because otherwise this will be very tedious.
“Holocron Heist” (2x01)
No sooner do I say that than Ahsoka reverts to being a dumb fucking kid.  However, is a full Council meeting to investigate the fact that she’s a dumb fucking kid actually a good use of the High Council’s time?  Just curious.  This arc is honestly really stupid, so I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this, only to say that Cad Bane’s aesthetic is very choice for an outlaw, and the Jedi have laughable security.
“Cargo of Doom” (2x02)
Another Anakin & Ahsoka episode where they and Yularen share one braincell, and Rex is the one who holds it most of the time.  Also really love how the Jedi with the list of all the potential Jedi recruits apparently took his sole record with him to a warzone.  That makes perfect sense.  I’m not really going to get into this episode, except to point out that we saw a Jedi tortured to death on-screen, which leads me to my most pressing question: how much money, per episode, did Lucasfilm have to use to bribe the MPA?
As for the choice Cade Bane gave Anakin at the end?  As @spiraling pointed out, people don’t die of decompression and vacuum exposure immediately.  Anakin could easily take Bane out and rescue Asohka in that time.  She’d need a dip in bacta, but she’d live.
“Children of the Force” (2x03)
This episode is actually the worst of all, because the Jedi (who, by the by, are an actual government entity with access to priority comms and lots and lots of computer space) don’t have backup lists of their recruits, nor do they, say, call ahead with the address and have the local government set a trap before they arrive.  Poorly done, Obi-Wan, poorly done.
Anyway, the kids are rescued from the unspeakable horrors that later children will be exposed to, children like Mara Jade and Lumiya.  Good for Anakin and Ahsoka!  However, I’d like to present a more awful possibility:  If it weren’t for the need for a holocron, Cad Bane (and by extension, Palpatine) would have gotten away with it.  Like, Palpatine is a Sith Lord, trained by a Sith Lord, and his putative apprentice is a former Jedi who had access to the temple and the various Jedi stores until about a year ago.  Do you really think he doesn’t already have a holocron ready to go?
So instead of stealing a holocron to start off with, Cad Bane just... targets and captures Bolla Ropal under the guise of a CIS attack.  He steals the kyber crystal.  The Jedi are very, very worried, of course, but it takes time for them to realize it’s gone missing.  in the meantime, however, Cad Bane just takes it to Dooku, they pull and copy the list, and the harvesting of Force-sensitive children can continue.
This is, I think, one of the great disappointments of TCW.  For a show that likes to use the model the Justice League cartoon of the early 2000s pioneered, they haven’t quite figured it out yet.  This is the sort of plot that could fuel an entire season of investigation, but instead they have these little three-episode arcs that never connect to the rest.  It’s a real shame.
Next week: We continue Season 2 with “Bounty Hunters”, “The Zillo Beast”, “The Zillo Beast Strikes Back”, “Senate Spy”, “Landing at Point Rain”, “Weapons Factory”, and (time permitting) “Legacy of Terror”.

Dreams Can Come True: Chapter 2 New Home
Chapter 1-Chapter 3
Tumblr media
After Y/n’s shift at the daycare was over, she quickly made her way home and changed into more presentable clothes for her ‘interview’. She made her way out of her home wearing shiny black heels, a form fitting black pencil skirt and a loose, comfy white blouse. Y/n made her way into the café and immediately spotted her friend from this morning.
She walked over, “Hi Kurono, I hope I didn’t take too long, I wanted to look presentable for meeting your boss!” Chrono took a moment to look at Y/n, and she looked good. If not for his keen control on his emotions he was sure his face would have gone red, but he kept his composure and simply nodded. “I’m sure he’ll appreciate it. The man lives in button ups and slacks, so I’m sure you’ll make a good first impression.” Y/n then took a moment to notice what Chrono was wearing, he too, had changed into something nicer. He was now wearing a white button up and dark wash, not skinny but not super loose fitting, jeans. Dang, the man cleans up nicely. Unfortunately for our little Y/n here, she doesn’t have the same control over her emotions as the stone cold gangster, so her cheeks may have flushed a *little* pink. Chrono noticed her change in appearance and inwardly flushed at the thought of her blushing at him. Being 20 he knew he was in his ‘prime’ or whatever, and most people would have expected him to have a girlfriend by now, but dating wasn’t exactly easy in his position. Sure, he had a few girlfriends before, but they either just got in the way, only dated him to get close to Kai, or in the most unfortunate cases, weren’t exactly faithful. He just didn’t really see the point in dating if he was just going to get hurt in the end, or have to hurt someone in the end, I mean he may be a ‘heartless’ mafia but he does have one. There was also the fact he had a six year old to take care of, and in all aspects of his life, she was his priority. He had always wanted kids, and a wife. But if he could have at least one of those things, he couldn’t complain, right? He snapped out of it, and led Y/n back to the private room his boss had gotten for the night seeing as the Hassaikai had special ties with the owner. As she walked in the room, she noticed a young, fairly tall and built young man sitting down at the head of the table. Chrono led her to her seat at the opposite end, and took his seat to the right of his boss. To Overhaul’s left was another young man. Y/n polite fully bowed her head and introduced herself. “Hello sir, I’m Y/n L/n.” He nodded his head in acknowledgement and motioned for her to take a seat. It was now she paid attention to what the others were wearing. The man at the head of the table was wearing a black button down shirt with black pants and a white-gray tie. The man beside him dressed in all black, wearing a cape like top and a black bowler’s hat. Most peculiarly about the two however…is that they were wearing plague masks. While the one dressed solely in black wore one that covered his whole face, the one seated at the head of the table wore a burgundy and gold mask that covered only half of his face. Wait a minute…You knew who these people were. “Good evening Ms. L/n. I’m sure by now you’ve figured out who we are, yes?” “I have an idea..” Y/n then noticed Chrono had slipped on  white medical mask. “You’re probably wondering what the Shie Hassaikai wants with a daycare worker, Hm?” You simply nodded your head. “I don’t know how much Chronostasis has told you, but we are in need of female caretaker for the little girl you met today. We’re offering you a spot as not only her caretaker, but as a respected member of the Shie Hassaikai. Join us, and I assure you, you will be taken care of.” Y/n took a moment to think about it.
~Chrono POV/ Narrator POV~
I really do hope she says yes, having her around would make taking care of Eri a lot easier, ad it’d be nice to have her around. “Okay, I’ll do it” Yes! “But…” But…? “I don’t want to kill anyone. It’s true I’m not the biggest fan of heroes, but I’m not exactly pro villain either, I just want to take care of Eri, if that’s okay.” Seems fair to me. I didn’t really want her to have to kill either, a girl as pretty and nice as herself shouldn’t have to go through that….wait what the heck am I thinking?! “Those terms are acceptable, welcome to the Shie Hassaikai, L/n. Now, if you don’t mind, we’d like to ask you some more…personal questions.” Oh boy, here we go again, I already know what he’s going to ask, 1. What’s your quirk. “Tell me, what is your quirk?” Knew it. “Telekinesis, I can control small objects and bring them towards me, or place them wherever I can see.” Overhaul just nodded. 2. Any family/friends who would question your disappearance? “Do you have any family or friends that might find your absence…suspicious?” Strike two “Just my aunt Hina, although I’ve been moved out for two years now, so it shouldn’t seem too suspicious.” Overhaul nodded again, “Very well, tonight we’ll go ahead and move you into your new home, since you’ll be a permanent caretaker for Eri, you will need to live in the base.” Y/n simply nodded, “That’s fine with me.” Overhaul stood up, and threw on his coat. “It’s been a pleasure working with you, L/n. Chrono, take her home and help her get what she needs, I’ll have Mimic send the other precepts over to move her out.” “Yes sir.” With that, chrono left the café with Y/n. When they exited, Chrono took off his mask. He really hated wearing it, but it was kind of important. Due to his villain attire, no heroes or police knew what he looked like, so unlike some of the precepts, he could pretty much just waltz around a free man. “So, Mafia, huh?” Y/n teasingly pointed out. “Yeah…sorry about not being completely honest earlier, but I didn’t want to scare you off too quickly.” Y/n simply nodded. “It’s okay, although I doubt it would have, like I said, I’m kind of indifferent towards heroes and villains, so I at least would have heard you out first.” “Thanks…most people aren’t as understanding.” Y/n just hummed and kept walking with Chrono. “So, how did you get the name ‘Chronostasis’, does it have something to do with your quirk?” “Yeah, actually it’s the name of my quirk.” Y/n looked at Chrono with wide eyes, “What does your quirk do?” “Well, you see my hair?” He pointed to his head. “Yeah” “Okay, well you see how the ends are pointed like clock needles?” “Mhm.” “Well, I can control them, but I have to be completely still, and they’re really sharp. So, if I struck someone with the hour hand, they’ll be slowed down for an hour, If I strike someone with the minute hand, they’ll be slowed for a minute.” Y/n’s eyes widened in amazement. “Its not really that flashy…or that useful.” Chrono awkwardly looked away, hand rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. Y/n quickly shook her head. “Nuh-uh, not at all I think it’s really cool!” By the enthusiasm in her voice he knew she was being sincere. He softly SOFTLY smiled and shook his head. “You really think so?” “Yes!! They look really cool, and most people don’t have defenses against being slowed, so I think it’s super powerful!” “Thanks Y/n.” No one had ever told him they genuinely really liked his quirk. Most people just left it alone, or thought it was weird. But here was this bubbly, sweet daycare worker who was practically fangirling over it. “No problem, you shouldn’t put yourself down like that, especially when there’s nothing to put yourself down for…” Y/n averted her eyes to the ground, a soft smile still present on her lips. “Well, here we are. It’s not much, so it shouldn’t take too long.” Overhaul had already called the landlord and arranged for Y/n to be let out on the lease early. (Turns out Yakuza bosses have a bit of power over people.) Chrono and Y/n entered Y/n’s small apartment/house. Chrono looked around, for someone who’s so young, he could tell y/n put a lot of work into her house. “Okay, give me like, five minutes and I’ll get what I need.” Because Y/n only had the one room in the hassaikai, she packaged up all of her valuable collections. Pictures of family and friends, irreplaceable things and gifts, etc. She packed up her clothes and brought a small bag of essentials to get her through the night. “Okay, I’m ready to go!” With that the two left for the Hassaikai base, but not before Chrono called Nemoto to bring the car, since it was going to be a longer drive and it was pretty late. After they got back to the base, Chrono led her into the traditional looking house, got to a door and stopped. He punched in some code, and the door opened to a stair case. This is where the main part of our base is, its where all the stuff goes down. Oh, it’s also where the bedrooms are.” They made their way down the stairs and started walking down the hallway. “Don’t be intimidated by all the guys here, you’re probably going to be pretty popular for the first few weeks, other than Eri you’re the first female to be down her. Also, ignore the petty flirting, most of these guys can count on one hand the number of women they’ve ‘talked’ to, most probably on one finger” “Really?” “Uh-huh, as you can imagine we all stay pretty busy, so no one really has time to go out and meet anybody new, let alone date.” Y/n nodded her head, she knew what that was like. Working at the day care and helping her aunt out once in a while kept her pretty busy. She had dated in the past, but none of her relationships lasted. In fact she hadn’t even attempted any relationships after him. Him being her ex, who she dated through high school, and even for some time after before she caught him cheating on her with her best friend. Chrono then walked her to a door and stopped, well this is it. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.” He pushed the door open and Y/n followed him inside, he then helped Y/n unpack the few things she brought with her. “Alright, hopefully that’s good enough till tomorrow, the rest of your stuff should be here by then.” “This’ll be just fine, thank you for your help…for everything really.” She smiled at him, and he gave a half smile back. “No problem, We appreciate you coming to help…I appreciate you coming to help.” There was a silence between them, although they didn’t know what kind of silence, it wasn’t an awkward silence, more like there was something there…but neither one knew what it was. “Well, anyways, I’ll get out of your hair. The bathroom is that door right there, and the living room and kitchen are just down the hall. If you need anything just text me, you’re probably going to get lost at least once, it’s pretty much a maze down here. Uhm, yeah. Oh and you’ll meet Eri again tomorrow. Her room and my room aren’t that far from here.” “Okay, I will. Thanks again Kurono. Goodnight.” “Goodnight Y/n.” An with that, the young second hand made his way out of her room and towards Eri’s room to put her to bed, seeing as it was about 8:30 pm and he didn’t want her to be cranky when she met Y/n again tomorrow. *Knock Knock* “Eri? Can I come in? It’s daddy.” The door quickly opened and Eri tackled Chrono in a hug. Eri then led him inside and sat on her bed. “Alright kiddo, it’s time for bed. Tomorrow your going to spend the day with someone new.” Eri’s ears seemed to perk up at the mention of someone new since not many new people come around here. As Chrono was getting Eri ready for bed, he started to explain the new circumstances to her as best he could. “Do you remember the nice lady that helped you today at the park?” Eri nodded her head. “Well, she’s going to be your new caretaker.” He realized he definitely should have worded it differently when he stared back at him with big wide scared eyes. “ W-what do you mean daddy? A-are you g-going to leave me?” It then clicked that it sounded like he was being replaced! “No! No sorry Eri! I’m not going anywhere I promise!” He held her in a bone crushing hug before leading her to the bed and tucking her in, looking for a book to read before she went to sleep. “She’s just gonna help me take care of you is all. Not replace me.” “Oh.” Eri seemed to understand. “So she’s gonna be my new Mommy then?” If chrono had been drinking water he was 1,000% sure he would’ve choked. “U-um yes and no? For now, let’s just call her Ms. Y/n, okay?” He could hear the fear in his voice of her asking any more difficult questions. “But why is she here? I thought you took care of me?” “I do pumpkin, but especially because you’re a girl, you should have a girl influence to look up to.” “Because I’m a girl? But why?” Shoot. He thought he could avoid THIS topic for at least 6 more years. What is he supposed to tell her? Yeah, in about 6 years give or take your body is going to turn on you and try to kill you once a month? Not exactly something you tell a 6 year old. “H-how about we talk about it tomorrow pumpkin” If the squeakiness of his voice didn’t give him away, his red face sure did. “Daddy? Is something wrong? You’re being weird.” Chrono just shook his head and tried to compose himself. “Yeah, daddy’s just being weird. Hey! How about we read that book now.” “Okay.” Chrono then read her the book and tucked her in to sleep. Making his way to his bedroom and collapsing on his bed, tired from the events of the day.

More tumblr as a journal
Had some bad news about my dad last week. The lymphoma has spread to his brain, and he's only got months or weeks left.
It really, really sucks. We found out on Monday, and I was pretty upset. Again, David has been amazing. I left work early and he came and picked me up.
I don't think it'll ever really sink in. My dad's confused sometimes, lucid others. I haven't seen him since last weekend, but I'm hopefully going up on Thursday to see him. He's still in hospital, as they're doing one more round of chemo.
My mum and my sister and I have been trying to busy ourselves with practical things. We're not sure yet whether to have him in a nursing home, or at home.
At home would be nice, but I'm aware that it would be a lot for my mum to deal with. The NHS would a couple of care visits a day, but only 30 min slots. So we'd probably want to get someone to come for a few hours every few days, so that my mum could go out/have some time to herself. And maybe have someone overnight a few nights a week, depending on how my dad is.
So in a lot of ways, I think a nursing home would be better. I worry that if we had my dad at home, and he was suddenly in a lot of pain, we'd be reliant on a non-emergency palliative care team coming out and giving him pain medication. The hospital were very clear that you don't get an emergency response team, in that situation. So that's a bit worrying.
But I don't know what visiting would be like in a nursing home. We hear very conflicting things. Staff at the hospital and people we've spoken to at the cancer charity Mcmillan say that visiting policies would be very generous, in spite of covid, because it's end of life care. But on the website of the main nursing home that's a possibility, visiting sounds very limited. There's loads of stuff saying that visiting is only possible if there are no covid cases in the home, and that only 2 named people are allowed to visit a resident. So either my sister or me wouldn't be allowed to visit, if that's the case. And while all the reviews I've seen for this nursing home are good, a lot of them talk about not being able to visit family members there, and only being able to wave through a window etc.
So I don't know. I think we'll find out more next week - my mum's hoping to visit one or two nursing homes. I think basically it will hinge on whether they have an open visiting policy for end of life care or not. If not, he'll come home.
Some more positive news - I think David and I might have found somewhere to live next year! We're quite keen to leave where we are now, partly just for a change. It's a bit basic and utilitarian where we are now. And we're both earning more now, so can afford somewhere nicer. Yesterday we went to view a 2 bed cottage in a village just outside the town where we live now, and I think we're going ahead with it. The village is really nice, it's quite a big village, and has quite a hippyish feel - there's an organic farm shop and a wholefood shop, and lots of little cafes.
The countryside round there is really nice, and we'd have so many nice walking routes literally on our doorstep. The house is nice too - it's got a cottagey feel and character, but the kitchen and all the appliances seem quite new. Upstairs ceilings are a little low, which is the main drawback, as we're tall. But downstairs is fine, so I think it'll be OK. The bathroom is downstairs too, so it's just the bedrooms that are a little low. But it'll be super cosy in winter!
And on a practical note, with everything that's going on with my dad, it would be nice if this goes ahead. It would be good to find somewhere and to have one less thing to worry about in the coming months.
I'm generally doing okay though. I got very upset after we got the news, but as last week wore on, I think the shock wore off a bit. At the end of the day, it sucks, but there's nothing I can do.
My work seem understanding, and I think will be generous if I ask to work more days from home/ask for the odd day off etc. Which is good.
Sorry this has been another long one.
