I did a lot of manga colorings for Haikyuu-In-Color a few years back and I never got around to actually posting the full versions anywhere, but now that the project is pretty much over I can do what I please with this pages. Hopefully you like them!

I have so many more I did before this one, but I won't post them unless there's a demand (like there's too many to find and organize here in one post). For now I'll post the ones after this particular page.

So for this one I had to look up screenshots of the anime to see how they did speed lines. I found one with Hoshiumi funny enough and used that for reference. And because the blue and the pink stood out to me, I decided to have the onomatopoeia and last panel be yellow-green to complete that triadic color scheme.

oliver barnes and family, my beloveds

ok so in the extensive haikyuu universe that lives in my head only, oliver barnes has a wife-- charlotte barnes-- and three children (twins hallie and orla, b. 2017, and older brother jack, b. 2014). jack is technically charlotte’s kid from a previous boyfriend, but that’s not actually relevant because barnes loves all his kids and wife more than anything, blood related or not. charlotte and oliver got married in 2017, and are sickeningly sweet.

now, charlotte is a wonderful woman, and she has gone viral on volleyball twitter many, many times. this is because she is (a) lovely, and (b) really fucking funny about volleyball. she has absolutely NO idea how the game works, but by god is she gonna learn.

in hinata’s debut season (2018), charlotte starts REALLY digging her heels into the whole “i swear to the lord i am gonna support my husband’s career and interests even if that means learning about sports.”

in that same season, barnes gets mildly injured, allowing him to stay home with her and the kids and really teach them the rules of volleyball. charlotte gets more invested than she expected to. something abt the adlers vs jackals game awoke something in her.

she loves her husband, but oh my god, just watching this sport is tiring. and she’s a mother of three. she knows tired. but she takes one look at hinata and knows that this is a whole different REALM of exhaustion.

(she also becomes highly familiar with the hinata and rest of the msby black jackals, and they LOVE her. she brings them good food after practice if she comes to pick up barnes, and they also all adore the barnes children. atsumu is surprisingly good with kids. barnes thinks he’s corrupting the twins with stories of what he and osamu got up to as kids, but atsumu maintains that he has no proof.)

barnes isn’t on the UK national team, so she and oliver take the international break during the 2020 olympics to watch the games together and really get into the nitty gritty of the rules. she only misses a few games, but the ones that she does miss….. ok she regrets stepping away from the tv a little bit

ok i’m gonna end there bc making these screenshots is exhausting and i've been editing typos this for an hour. but know that i fucking LOVE the barnes family that lives in my head. also i love glennon doyle and abby wambach.

Wait a sec, I just saw some screenshots from a funny moment in Haikyuu, where Hinata asks Ukai to teach him so that he passes his finals or smth, and Ukai is like “Hinata, I didn’t really want to bring this up, but do I look like someone who got good grades?“.

And that’s hella funny, but I watch the series with German dub, and I find our version a little funnier.

There he says: „Hinata, wenn ich Teil des Spielfeldes wäre, wäre ich ohne jeden Zweifel der Pfosten“ translates to: “Hinata, if I was part of the playing field, I’d be, without a doubt, the post“

In our Version the post-Part is funny because we have various words for idiot and one of them is Vollpfosten.
