Memories 2016: Disc 4

So I asked awhile ago when I said I was going back to watch every memories DVD they have released so far, if you would be interested in commentary from me as I did so. There were a lot of people who said yes, so here we are! I have officially watched BTS Memories of 2016. Here are my thoughts as I went. There were 4 DVDs in this one. The posts over first 3 discs is already up and on my masterlist. Reminder that these aren't going to be smoothly written out thoughts. You get these like I'm live reacting, texting my bestie or live tweeting. Lol it'll be in like bullet point format sort of, just... a commentary post as I go. Lol Hope you enjoy anyway! Let's go!

Disc 4:

On Stage Asia Tour:

They went to 10 cities (Seoul / Taipei / Macau / Nanjing / Osaka / Nagoya / Beijing / Manila / Bangkok / Tokyo) for this tour. It was an extension of their 2015 HYYH tour. The tour kicked off in Seoul on 160507.

We start in June with the boys in Taipei. A minute into the video and we have jikook playing games already. Lol little wrestling robots game. Jimin bragging he won too much and JK saying it's only because I let you win (something he started doing with frequency in 2015) and then doing a rematch where he wins super quickly. Lmao poor Jimin.

This was also the same time as rehearsals for this concert that we see jikook practicing their COA performance. And JK mimicking Jimin on his 333 dance and immediately turning to check to see if he made Jimin laugh (he did 😊). Maknae line crazy dance times together in between stages 🥰

In Macau is where we get the iconic Sope skit with the recorder music that Hobi plays with his nose and Suga can't help but giggle over. And they thank their fans for the gift of such a luxurious recorder

I will never understand why they film them eating meals or snacks right up in their faces. I really don't need to see it and dang, let them eat without risk of accidentally inhaling the camera too with how close they get 🤣 the dance party from how good the snacks were though and excitement for the concert was adorable.

In Nanjing (July), Love seeing Jihope help the others perfect the choreo and picking out little things they can do to make the overall performance better. Main dancer things 🥰 and then vmin taking a break between rehearsals and the concert to play basketball together!

Jin dancing to ARMY singing songs before BTS even takes the stage 🥺 I love that they get to feel so much love. RMs inspiring little speeches before they go on to his members, do our best! And then we just got clips of total chaos and I want more please! Lol taekook piggy back ride, everyone hyping Suga up for his verse by patting him all over and jumping, Jimin swinging in between TaeJin, Tae on JKs shoulders, Tae's Boyz with Fun dance... I'm noticing a common factor in this craziness being Taehyung 😂 love him.

Tae2Seok proposing to ARMY during their ending mentions. Lmao dangerous idea to give out my guys. 😂 followed by their talks to the camera at the end with Jin continuously proposing to Jimin (somewhat aggressively lmao) before JinJiKook all ask ARMY to marry them too. What is this?! What was the joke? 😂

In Osaka now! They were all so excited during rehearsals and cutesy teasing Tae about how often he said "now" during his VCR recording. (He did say it a lot lol.) Man, rhey also are making Jimin dance on every show! Either showing parts of Fire and the 333 dance before, but now it's Butterfly 😂 and ahh the way JK looks at him while he sings so Jimin can dance everytime. So fond. Such a big smile. And this time Jin did it too!

Jimin jokingly holding Jin back from giving the camera kisses for the end of show mentions. And then Jikook have been doing so many of their camera talks together lately. Lol "the youngest teased me so much today everyone" lol okay Jimin. They are so cute. Followed by Jin and Jimin reacting to JKs celebrity bromance show, which I have already made a post over here too.

Nagoya concerts! Yoongi being so professional and working with the sound techs over what should be higher/lower for instruments and Members voices. Being so knowledgeable and so cool. And then JK following him around in tiny and mimicking everything he says giggling softly to himself and at the camera 🤣 "suga hyung won't scold me" indeed.

Lmao right before the concert. JK is trying to talk to the camera and Tae is just belting his lungs out across the room everytime he tries to talk 🤣 jin sharing how backstage is like a war zone as they have all 7 members trying to get changed and their hair/makeup freshened up in just 3 minutes but that he always finishes first.

Jikook playing together before rehearsals on day 2 with silly dances 🥺 Jin proposing to ARMY AGAIN and the editors being savage lmfao "Jin became cringeworthy" rude omg 🤣 everyone teasing Joonie for his Day 1 Day 1 chant the day before. Lol and at the very end, Jimin jumping onto JKs back when they are leaving the stage before giving his ending mentions to the camera. 🥺

Beijing concerts. I'm not sure what Jimin was dancing too in the middle of rehearsals but JK was loving it. Jimin was going hard too! Lol during their rehearsal break we saw Jimin cracking up laughing while filming a video of Hope, which he later posted to Twitter for us. And the way they have meetings together before every show to hash out exactly what minor things need to be changed depending on where they are performing and give reminders on how to give the best show. They work so hard it's crazy.

Beijing is where we had RM, Jin and Jimin all take turns dancing part of the Butterfly choreo to either JK or Tae singing acapella. Something they have been doing this whole tour, switching it up. But this was the iconic one where JK was watching Jimin dance with all the love in his eyes while singing

RM ended up suffering from over heating and having trouble breathing and couldn't finish the concert. It was heartbreaking but also very touching watching JK and army fill in for his rap verses and Suga take over for the speeches. They did a really good job though. And they were all so worried and concerned when talking to the camera afterwards, especially Jungkook, who couldn't even really think of anything to say, just kept looking off to the side, like he was wanting to be able to just go check on his hyung. They love each other so much. It's never the same if one isn't there.

Manila shows, end of July finally. Jikook walking to the stage with their arms around each other 🥺 and Jin is always acting the cutest on his way to their stages!

Lmao JK playing around with sunglasses and acting silly while the stylist Noona is trying to shove clothes at him and help him get dressed quickly for the encore stage. He is NOT making her job easy. Lmao these stylists all the patience of saints, I swear! The rapline hyping each other up on stage will never not get to me! And they were all so hype for the NMD dance break too!

Everyone was soooo excited by the crowds reactions. JK saying ARMY was his energizer. The hyungs all smiling super hard and being so thankful. Tae just shouting love you to the camera for army over and over. Jimin crashing his interview and jumping on Tae's back this time. Lol they were all so happy after this show!

Bangkok shows now! (160806 now). The amount of Thai food they had on a spread looked amazing and the short impromptu eat jin video we were gifted as well! Jungkookies smile hearing ARMY screaming before they go on stage 😭 Tae giving using his hand to give flying kisses from Jin and JK both. So cute

Yoongi walking off stage so tired he basically just skips saying anything to the camera. 😭 someone let him take a nap soon! We also see the staff taking JKs mic off and him holding his arm like it hurts. Then when Jimin comes up while he is talking to the camera to give him a back hug, he knocks his arm a bit and JK is obviously in pain. Jimin then practically forgets all about the camera, trying to figure out what happened and what hurts. While JK spends just as much effort trying to pretend he is fine and to distract Jimin from it, including teasing him and when Jimin says he is getting old going, but you are only 22? Lol before they walk off together. I'm sure Jimin did not forget about his arm and wanting to find out what happened either. It was cute the way JK wanted to not worry him over it though.

Toyko tour stop! Hoseok, our dance leader, scolding JK for not properly checking his in ears and sending him off to fetch them again. Lol I love that side of Hobi too. Jimin spent almost this entire video with black hair, and is now back to blond for Toyko! And Yoongi has darker auburn type of hair now!

Hobi dancing to JK singing Tomorrow this time! And TaeJin dancing to Fire! And Jin is letting the whole "Nikonikoni" thing GO. Lmao TaeJin are sitting back stage with their arms around each other and Jin is STILL going on with "Nikonikoni" into the camera and during when he danced Fire. Lmao is this where Tae picked it up from for his iconic line in the middle of Attack on Bangtan that sent Jimin into a laughing fit so hard he missed his lines to sing after that? 🤣🤣

Day 2 shows everyone preparing to get on stage, stretching all serious. Captions "everyone relieves stress in their own ways" cuts to Jin acting a fool and big smiles all silly. Lmfao Jimin walking up behind him watching him with the fondest smile, and trying not to laugh. And JK practicing the choreo the same exaggerated way with Namjoon walking up behind him with a smile and then a nod to the camera 😂

Taes voice during Boys with Fun will always be one of my favorite things! Plus his improvised dance moves that the rest of the group then copies afterwards! And Tae being RMs biggest fanboy during his Save Me verse!

The way that everyone encore stage included Miss Right where they passed out little merch balls from baskets, throwing them into the crowd was adorable. Even more so watching them skip around stage with the baskets and half the time someone ended up wearing said basket on their head when it was empty. Lmao surprisingly, it was usually the rapline who wore the basket hats so proudly!

The utter CHAOS that broke out right after Hobis ending mentions to ARMY and Otsukare started playing and everyone went crazy on stage dancing and jumping around to it. Lol just for RM to bring it back down after a bit with being the last to give his greetings and making everyone cry saying "we would have no most beautiful moment in life without you." And Jimim giving his backup dancer friend a big hug when they all came out before everyone joined hands for the final bow😭

Hobi ending the DVD off with a super sweet speech about the tour admist all the staff cheering like crazy for the members so sweetly.

And that wraps up Memories 2016! This was amazing and their hardwork, as always, is so highlighted and soooo admirable. One of my favorite things was seeing Namjoon greet ARMYs in their language everywhere they went. The dedication he has in making everyone geel welcomed and special is so beautiful. In conclusion, I love them. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts! 💜

after attending a bts concert and very clearly catching one of the members’ attention, you can’t help but get flooded with hate comments once people find your twitter account. who would’ve thought that would be the reason jung hoseok would find his concert girl, too.

a/n: so that’s it! tysm to all of you who read this au, ilysm 🥺 in case it wasn’t obvious, this was like a smol view over the years for these two and their relationship. AND i know the texts bit doesn’t make much sense and that’s why i wrote what was supposed to be a drabble but ended up being a 2k story lsñsksj. i might upload it later in a one shot format since it’s as long as one of those and i want to have it organized in my masterlist lol. anyway, not so smol drabble right under the cut 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Not being able to hold back the quite prominent pout that had been threatening with forming in your lips all morning anymore, you followed your boyfriend hot on his heels, almost like a lost puppy, as he carried his bags all the way over from your shared bedroom to the living room and placed them on the sofa ever so carefully, not wanting to wake up your sound asleep kitten that was on the other end of it.

Giving you a side smile, one that did not really get to reach his eyes, for leaving you had never been an easy thing to do, he took a step towards you and gently cupped your face, planting a tender kiss to your forehead before he resumed on checking if he had indeed got everything he would need during tour.

Or well, at least he tried to, for you were quick to catch his attention, this time deliberately, since there was one particular thought in your head ever since last night —having to do with a certain comment of his on his Instagram account he had posted in reply to Taehyung’s very upfront ‘when’s the human baby coming’ question— that you could just not let go of for the sake of it. If anything, you knew that you needed to ask right now, before he left, or you would just have to suck it up and wait another six months to be able to do so.

“Hey, um…” you mumbled almost inaudibly, gently tugging at his sleeve and then for some reason feeling ever so little under his intrigued stare. “I know you’re kind of in a rush right now...” you smiled weakly, knowing you had little under fifteen minutes before he had to leave for half a year. “But, I, um... last night…”

“Tell me” he urged rather worriedly after seeing you were not able to finish your sentence.

“What you said last night… when you answered to Tae’s comment, you know… about getting engaged after tour...” you felt his body tense at your unexpected confrontation. “Is it true?”

Although suddenly nervous at the bit of information he had thought you would ignore since you hadn’t brought it up right when it happened, he smiled sweetly, taking a step towards you as he intertwined your fingers. “You know I’ve always wanted to marry you”.

“But now?” your words caused his heart to skip a beat. “I mean, the way you said it… I know you said after tour, but if you’re already thinking about it now…”

The small laugh that escaped his lips caught you by surprise, not really knowing what it meant. Tilting his head back for a second, he then let it fall on one of your shoulders — his hands letting go of yours to place them on your waist instead.

“Ah, don’t do this”.

“Do what?” your puzzled tone earned another laugh from him, one that came out more like a small huff. “Seok-ie…”

But he just shook his head, suddenly not knowing what to say. More like, not knowing if he should say what he wanted to right then at all..

“Baby…” you were the one to urge this time, gently tugging at the fabric of his hoodie.

And so, taking a deep breath, he decided to just go for it.

“I already have the ring” he confessed.

Not believing your ears, you pulled slightly away from him so you could search in his face for any kind of mean joke being displayed on it, only to be met by his sincere yet troubled eyes.

“And you’re making it really hard for me not to just go get it right now” he added.

You bit your bottom lip, having to lower your head for a brief moment as you tried to collect yourself before your now adoring eyes were back on his.

“I would say yes, you know?” you spoke softly. “If you asked me now…”

He let out a shaky breath, letting his forehead rest on yours. “Right before I go on tour?”

“Is that why you hadn’t asked me?” you wondered.

He nodded. “I mean, asking you to marry me only to leave you for half a year right after?” his lips turned into a sad pout, having you reach for his hands once again and give them a gentle squeeze. “Besides, my schedule was really tight these past couple of months and I didn’t get to prepare anything special t—”

His words were cut off by your lips softly pressing on his. Just like that, although only for a second, making him feel at ease.

“You really don’t have to prepare anything special, love” you smiled sweetly. “I’m not talking you into asking me now if that’s not what you want, but just know I would say yes no matter where or when you asked me”.

Your heart jumped at the sight of his lips curving slightly up at your honest words, feeling him be the one to give your hands a gentle squeeze this time.

“You wouldn’t hate me for asking you right before I leave?” he genuinely questioned, wanting to be a hundred percent sure about what you wanted before he did anything else. You shook your head no. “Even when I have nothing special prepared?”

“Come on,” you tilted your head to the side. “You really think I would ever hate my favourite person in the world?”

Always loving being called that by you, he chuckled under his breath, pressing a brief kiss to your mouth before his eyes went to the watch on his wrist and a bright smile parted his lips at the realisation of it still being a couple more minutes until the company picked him up to head towards the airport.

So, holding your hand in his, he pulled you towards your bedroom with him, letting go of you right as you crossed the door so he could go to the closet and rummage through his side of it for a couple of seconds while he looked for something. And then, when he turned around holding a small velvet box, you felt your heart skip a beat.

“I wasn’t joking when I said I already had the ring” he let you know with a breathy voice at the sight of your astonished eyes, causing a light laugh to escape your mouth. “I guess I should get down on one knee now, huh?”

Letting out another breathy laugh, you nodded your head, feeling your body hopelessly tremble as you could not hold in the overwhelming wave of emotions you were feeling at the sight of him kneeling down in front of you, later opening the delicate box in his hands to let you see the beautiful ring he had ever so thoroughly chosen for you.

“Okay, so… I don’t have a huge speech prepared for this right now, but…” you answered to his hesitation with a reassuring nod, letting him know it was alright, wanting him to go on. “I just… I knew since the beginning that I wanted to spend my life with you. I knew it way before our first anniversary, and now that we’ve been together for nearly five years and we’ve lived together for a little over one, I just know more than ever that I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else but you. I wouldn’t want anyone but you to wake up next to every morning, or anyone else but you to come home to, or even when we have our bad days and we argue over stupid things that at the moment seem so big,” a brittle laugh escaped both your mouths at the same time because of his comment. “There’s no one else I’d want to argue with. There’s no one else I’d want to raise our feline son with, or have our own human babies in the future”.

“You did not just call them human babies” you amusedly mocked him with a raised eyebrow.

“Shh, I’m proposing here” he playfully called you out, having you roll your eyes as you couldn’t conceal the smile already taking over your lips. “So, as I was saying. You truly are it for me, angel. I’ve said it a lot before and I’ll keep saying it as much as I can, but I love you so, so much, and there’s no one else I want to ever be with. So, if you’ll have me, will you marry me?”

Before he could even finish the question you had been anticipating, you had already been nodding your head with the brightest of smiles on your face, causing his heart-shaped one to make an appearance — only growing bigger when you confirmed: “Of course I’ll marry you, yes”.

Hoseok let out the air he didn’t know he had been holding, still being nervous as hell to ask such thing although you had made your answer pretty clear all along. And at that, you couldn’t help but giggle, watching the shaky hand of yours he was holding be adorned with the delicate ring he had just slid on your finger — planting a loving kiss to your knuckles before his eyes were back up on you.

You didn’t really have time to process what had just happened when he was back up on his feet, cupping your face to keep you in place as he rested his forehead on yours and his smiling lips brushed faintly over yours.

“I love you” he whispered those three words you could never grow tired of.

You smiled, placing your hands on his wrists and gently running your thumbs on his skin. “I love you, too”.

That was all it took for his mouth to be on yours, kissing you in such soft, tender way, it almost made it seem like he would break you if he kissed you any harder. However, when your hands travelled from his wrists to the back of his neck to wrap your arms around it, his hold on your face tightened, caressing the skin near the corners of your lips with his thumbs as he deepened the touch of his lips on yours.

He only ever let go of you a minute later, when the phone in his pocket started buzzing, bringing the two of you out of your own little world and back into the real one — one in which the car BigHit had sent for him and his members was already waiting for him outside, and one in which he had to leave your side for way longer than any of you would like to.

“How am I supposed to leave you now?” he mumbled, not being ready yet to fully let go of your touch, and just letting your heavy breathings mix instead as your lips remained faintly touching.

You smiled bittersweetly, cupping his face in your hands and planting another kiss to his pink lips. “Well, you know now more than ever that I’ll be here waiting for you”.

He laughed breathily, playfully pinching your sides. “I guess you really are stuck with me now, huh?”

“Technically,” you began, having him already rolling his eyes in anticipation before you could even make your point. “I am not until our wedding. But you know I would never leave you anyway, so you can take it as such”.

“I better marry you soon then” he smirked, managing to pull you even closer to him although there already wasn’t much space between your bodies.

“I would like that a lot, not gonna lie”.

Your nonchalant words that were followed by a shrug of your shoulders had him tilting his head back as a blissful laugh escaped his mouth — ignoring the phone buzzing once more in his pocket and going back to steal another kiss from you.

“We’re gonna celebrate properly when I get back, okay?” he said. “And we can start planning our wedding then”.

“Okay…” you smiled contently, pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose before your eyes instinctively travelled down to his still buzzing mobile. “You should probably go now before they come here and literally drag your ass out”.

Hoseok laughed, reluctantly letting go of you and walking back over to the living room with you quietly following right after him, so he could grab his luggage and leave before they scolded him for taking too long.

“You think it’s too late to just shove you inside my luggage and bring you on tour with me?” he amusedly wondered as he threw his bag over his shoulder.

Shaking your head as you chuckled, you glanced over Huimang that was sleeping ever so carelessly next to another one of your fiancé’s bags. “I have a feline son to look after now, I can’t just leave him” you pouted.

“Right” he remembered, smiling softly when he stretched his hand to pet the fluffy cat of yours he had grown to love so much. “Forgot we’re responsible parents and all that now”.

BTS TV and Web Series: Where to Begin Watching

If you’re anything like the rest of the planet, then you’ve fallen hard for BTS. And, like any ARMY who hasn’t been with the band since the early days, you have a lot of content to catch up on. It’s an awesome task—and a potentially overwhelming one. While much of BTS’ content is, of course, music videos and performances, the Korean band has also produced a plethora of additional content in the form of web series and TV shows.

While BTS has appeared on dozens if not hundreds of TV shows both in Korea and abroad since their debut eight years ago, we’re solely focusing on the BTS-centric series rather than the ongoing shows in which BTS has appeared as featured guests. Whether you’re a new ARMY looking to learn more about the K-pop band or simply can’t get “Butter” and/or “Permission to Dance” out of your head and are curious about the seven members behind the summer hits, check out one of the following series to learn more about Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.

Rookie King (2013)

How many episodes: 8 Where to watch: Viki

BTS debuted in 2013, and Rookie King was their first proper series. The variety show format is super popular in Korea, and many of BTS’ series use it. Rookie King is a variety show that features the members attempting different Korean TV program formats. In the show, BTS takes on different roles, including news anchors, bowlers, and basketball players. Early variety show BTS is truly a place where anything can happen. Rookie King would also give us our first proper example of BTS taking on cooking challenges, which continues to be a running (and hilarious) theme in BTS’ variety show presence today.

American Hustle Life (2014)

How many episodes: 8

This BTS reality show that sees the members traveling to L.A. for two weeks to learn from hip-hop tutors like Coolio and Warren G, can be tough to watch, as the series is nowhere near prepared to engage with K-pop’s history and present of Black American cultural appropriation. But discomfort is not always a bad thing, and American Hustle Life can be a good jumping off point for non-Black BTS fans in particular to engage with the difficult topic of cultural appropriation in K-pop ourselves. I recommend watching this in conjunction with analysis from Black BTS/K-pop critics, such as Stitch of Stitch’s Media Mix, who has written extensively not only about BTS, but about cultural appropriation in the age of K-pop.

GO! BTS (2014)

How many episodes: 1

It’s a bit of a stretch to call this one a series, as there is only one episode, but if you’re looking for more content from BTS’ early years, then Go! BTS is a good option. The 45-minute episode follows BTS on their trip to L.A. for KCON 2014. In addition to including some performance footage, the special gives us some of that variety program energy by sending the members on three missions around Laguna Beach.

BTS Gayo (2015-2017)

How many episodes: 15 Where to watch: VLive

BTS Gayo is another BTS variety show, in which the members play games that are specifically related to K-pop. For example, in the first episode, they have to guess iconic K-pop girl group songs based solely on dance clues from other members. BTS hasn’t released an episode of Gayo in a while, probably because the wider umbrella of Run BTS (see the next entry on the list) covers the sorts of K-pop-centric challenges BTS Gayo centers. Basically, Run BTS swallowed BTS Gayo.

Run BTS! (2015-today)

How many episodes: 143 (and counting) Where to watch: VLive

The ultimate BTS variety show, Run BTS has been, um, running since 2015. The show features the members competing in a variety of games, from zombie escape the room challenges to foot volleyball to your classic game of mafia. If they win, they get a reward. If they lose, they get a punishment. Variety show games like this are only as effective as the degree to which the competitors take them seriously, and let me tell you: BTS is all in. These global pop stars may be millionaires, but they will throw down for a coupon like their lives depend on it. Early episodes of Run BTS include the members visiting many an amusement park, while later episodes have gotten both more contained and creative in the challenges. Rest assured, there is something here for everyone—just beware the spies and plot twists.

Bon Voyage (2016-today)

How many episodes: 32 episodes, across 4 seasons Where to watch: VLive (Seasons 1-3), Weverse* (Season 4)

Bon Voyage is a travel reality show that follows BTS on various trips around the world, including northern Europe in Season 1, Hawaii in Season 2, Malta in Season 3, and New Zealand in Season 4. It’s interesting to see the members out and about in the world, having fun together and on a relative break. (This is still work, but they are not actively promoting or touring.) Over the course of Bon Voyage‘s four seasons, you will see many a camper van adventure; many a games of rock, paper, scissors; and realize just how central Yoon-gi is to keeping these members fed when they are left on their own. Especially in a time when travel has been largely impossible, bopping around the world with BTS can be a nice escape.

Burn the Stage (2018)

How many episodes: 8 Where to watch: YouTube Premium

Burn the Stage is an eight-part series that tells the story of BTS’ massive 300-day The Wings Tour, which took up most of 2017 for the members. Including interviews and show footage, Burn the Stage follows a pretty standard concert film format, giving insight into BTS’ first major world tour. The series would later be turned into a movie, also called Burn the Stage, which was released later in 2018.

Bring the Soul (2019)

How many episodes: 6 Where to watch: Weverse

Similar to Burn the Stage, Bring the Soul is another glimpse into what BTS’ tour life is like. This six-part series follows the seven members of BTS during the Love Yourself World Tour, through the end of the tour’s third, European leg, which concluded in October 2019. It was also released in a more condensed movie format in Bring the Soul: The Movie.

BT21 (2019-today)

How many episodes: 17 main story shorts, plus additional mini-stories Where to watch: YouTube

If you’re looking for some animated BTS content, check out the universe of BT21, a collaboration between Line Friends and BTS that you can see chronicled here. The members helped create the concepts for the BT21 characters, who are all adorable. From there, the animators began telling the story of Prince Tata, who hails from Planet BT, as he dreams about spreading love across the galaxy. Tata and guardian robot Van travel to Earth to begin the mission, where they meet Koya, RJ, Shooky, Mang, Chimmy, and Cooky, who band together with the ambition to become the most influential pop culture sensation in the galaxy. Break the Silence (2020)

How many episodes: 7 Where to watch: Weverse

You didn’t think BTS was going to leave you hanging on the final leg of their Love Yourself World Tour, did you? The Break the Silence docu-series picks up where Bring the Soul leaves off, bringing fans on the final, Asian leg of the Love Yourself World Tour and into the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself extension of the tour, which extended the tour through October 2019. As you may have guessed, there is also a movie format version of Break the Silence.

In the Soop (2020)

How many episodes: 8 Where to watch: Weverse

BTS has given us many gifts during the COVID-19 pandemic, but In the Soop may be the greatest. The series follows the seven members as they take a break from their work schedules to pursue hobbies, hang out, and watch Jin kill fish. Unlike BTS’ variety series, In the Soop has a much looser structure, allowing the members to relax a bit more. Each member made a list of activities they would like to try out while in the titular “soop” (“forest,” in Korean), but there is no reward or punishment for completing or not. Instead, the members can choose to spend their time as they wish, whether that be building Lego or racing remote control boats. In the Soop is honestly the gift that keeps on giving, and ARMY is crossing our fingers for a second season. Summary: BTS goes camping.

A/N: This is part of my new drabble series that I’m doing for ficswithluv’s Bulletproof Bingo! 24 drabbles in 12 days so I can get that blackout before the deadline. See my challenge post here and the master list here! Message or send an ask to be on the taglist!

The boys are all following Namjoon down the trail to the campsite. Each of them carrying some of the supplies for their weekend of camping.

“It’s so nice to be out here without the cameras following us around.” Yoongi mutters.

“I kind of miss them.” Jimin responds, a few feet behind him. “We didn’t even bring our phones, ARMY will be sad if we don’t post a selca!” He’s pouting now.

“ARMY will be happy that we get a weekend to ourselves.” Seokjin chimes in.

The boys make their way to the campsite and begin setting up their tents. Seokjin and Yoongi are working together to build theirs up. Jimin and Hoseok are arguing about the best way to put the stakes in the ground. Namjoon, Taehyung, and Jungkook will all be squeezing into the third tent together. Tae and Jungkook are setting it up while Namjoon directs them from a safe distance.

The next item up on their agenda is... well. Relaxing.

“Okay! We’re going fishing, who is coming with us?” Yoongi shouts excitedly. Seokjin is already standing next to him with their fishing gear in hand.

“I want to come!” Namjoon speaks up, grabbing a thick book and a beach towel from his backpack. If he isn’t looking for crabs and other critters, he’ll be reading on the shore.

“I think we’re going to go on that hiking trail!” Taehyung says point to the trailhead on the other side of the campsite. Jimin and Jungkook are already jogging toward it.

“I guess I’ll go with our maknaes to keep them out of trouble.” Hoseok laughs. Yoongi sighs, a little disappointed that Hoseok doesn’t enjoy fishing as much as he does.

From the pier, Yoongi can watch Namjoon carefully walking along the rocks on the shore in search of some life. He gets so absorbed in it. It’s adorable to watch his friend and leader enjoying himself.

They all needed some time away from the limelight. That’s why Yoongi suggested to their manager that they take this camping trip. It’s already worth it, just seeing the smile on Namjoon’s face when he holds up a crab for them to see.

“Find a bigger one!” Yoongi jokes from his spot on the pier.

“No, find a smaller one! The baby crabs are so much cuter!” Seokjin shouts. Yoongi and Seokjin go fishing together every now and then. He wishes they had more time to do it regularly.

“I feel a bite hyungie.” Yoongi says cutely, a big smile on his face. He begins to slowly reel in and release the line a few times. Then he fully reels in the fish that’s on his line.

“It’s big!” Seokjin says, eyes wide, looking at the first catch of the day. Yoongi unhooks the fish and throws it back into the water. He casts his line back out, hoping to catch another.

“Where is Taehyungie?” Jimin cries. The other boys had walked about a good mile away from their campsite. Jimin looked behind him to make a joke to Taehyung, but he realized Tae was gone.

Jungkook jogs over to a small rock formation and begins to climb to get a better vantage point. Hoseok and Jimin back track on the trail.

“Taehyung!” Hoseok calls out.

The trail is lovely. There are large trees, thick bushes and flowers sprinkled along the path. They’ve seen several creatures, one of which may have stolen Taehyung's attention.

“I see him!” Jungkook yells from the top of the rocks. “He’s that way.” He’s pointing west, somewhere between the trail and the campsite. The three boys take off back in that direction to find their lost friend.

When they finally come up on Taehyung, they see him about ten feet off the trail, crouching down next to a large pile of rocks.

“There’s a chipmunk under this rock.” He says plainly. “I wanted to give him some food.”

“Taehyung we thought you were lost forever!” Jimin dramatizes, fakely sobbing.

“You never get lost if you follow your heart.” Taehyung says. He sets a few crumbs of food on the ground near the dirt and then joins his friends back on the trail.

After a long day in the sun doing various activities, the boys sit around the campfire (expertly lit by Jungkook and Hoseok) with bowls of instant noodles. Jimin has just finished retelling the story of losing Taehyung while hiking.

“Our Taehyungie always finds his way back to us, doesn’t he?” Namjoon chuckles.

“I have a surprise!” Seokjin says, getting up from his spot next to the fire. He reaches into his backpack and pulls out a box of graham crackers, chocolate bars, and a bag of giant marshmallows.

“What is that?” Yoongi questions.

“This is what Americans eat when they go camping.” Seokjin replies, passing around the ingredients. He hands out skewers and shows everyone how to roast the marshmallows on the open flame.

Jungkook eats three big marshmallows before any of them make it onto his graham crackers. They all take turns making the melty messy sandwiches and getting it all over their faces. Luckily, Hoseok brought enough of his face wipes for everyone to use.

The night falls quickly and Jungkook puts out the fire he built. All seven of the boys retreat to their tents for a good night’s sleep. Everyone crawls into their sleeping bags and, following a chorus of goodnights from each tent, they close their eyes to rest.

Namjoon wakes when he hears Jungkook stepping out of the tent. It can’t be more than an hour after they fell asleep.

“You okay?” He whispers loudly.

“I can’t sleep.” Jungkook replies. Namjoon gets out of the tent too, bringing a blanket to wrap around them. For a few quiet moments, they both just look up at the sky. With the city and light pollution far away from them, the stars are shining brightly.

“What are you thinking?” Namjoon asks.

“I’m just thinking about how people say that we are stars.” Jungkook replies.

“We are, aren't we? Maybe not as bright as these, though.” Namjoon motions to the sky.

“When I look in the sky... It doesn’t look like us. It looks like ARMY.” He’s remembering the sight of thousands of ARMY Bombs in the stadiums they performed in on the last tour. He sighs, feeling himself getting emotional. Namjoon chuckles and gives Jungkook a hug.

“Maybe ARMY are the real stars here, not us.”

author’s note: this, if it isn’t obvious, is just my opinion and interpretation. i don’t know these boys personally (i’d love too tho) so of course, i could be wrong... but that doesn’t matter. also, i know this is very different from what i normally write and the format is different, but i still hope you guys like it

kim seokjin

for starters, i don’t really see bts going to great lengths to win their ex back, nor becoming excessive or obsessive about it, if that makes sense

i think that if they were to break up with someone, it would most likely be a mutual break up, something that would be for the best, like maybe scheduling conflicts

but for the sake of this request

i think jin would try to win his ex back by asking them to go on a date with him, one last resort

he would be missing them a lot and he noticed that it was really affecting him

so, he texted his ex, “i know we are just friends, but please go on one last date with me.”

he was relieved when they texted back saying they agreed

he prepped all of their favorite food, spending all of his morning making sure everything tasted right, making sure it looked delicious, even arranging things to look aesthetic and cute

today, he said to himself, he was going to win their heart back

min yoongi

i see min yoongi as the type to hide his thoughts about his ex as well as how he still has feelings about them

the members knew about the break up and even though yoongi tried his best to be happy, the members could see it

sometimes, even the one’s who typically give the advice and help others also need help themselves (i tried to sound super wise but i worded that sentence really weirdly)

the members suggested talking to his ex again, and although yoongi waved away their advice saying that it was for the best, his mind pondered that thought

he texted their ex; immediately afterwards, however, he felt extremely nervous and began to regret it

his mind tortured him, telling him he should have said something else, should have said this instead of that, or just had not texted them at all

yoongi focused his mind on composing and writing music (writing a bomb ass song about love)

when you texted back asking if he had time to come over for chinese takeout, he had never moved so fast

jung hoseok

i think with hoseok, it would be clear between his ex and himself that he hadn’t gotten over his feelings

like, him and his ex most likely parted ways, not because they were falling out of love, but something else like i said earlier, perhaps scheduling conflicts and not having time for each other

there was still a very very very likely chance that his ex and him were in love

him and his ex still talked a lot, as friends, that part of the relationship was still strong

but it saddened the both of them that they couldn’t be more

that is until hoseok couldn’t take it one late night, nearly two in the morning

he texted his ex, telling them everything that he was feeling; his head felt clear after, but his stomach was somersaulting and forming crazy knots

his ex was asleep but when they saw his text, they practically leaped out of their bed with joy, relieved that he wanted to get back together

kim namjoon

namjoon would try his best to go about his life, trying to find peace and happiness once again

i think during the first few days/weeks after the breakup, he’d find comfort in writing and composing love songs

sure they were cheesy sometimes, but they were based off of the moments he shared with his ex; although there also were a few breakup ones

an album was produced soon enough and it was very different from his other songs and albums, a different point/theme

soon, his ex was binge listening, knowing and understanding the album that namjoon had put his heart and soul into

and namjoon was hoping that his ex were listening, hoping that they were feeling the same exact emotions as him; he missed them, longed for them

soon, his ex was ringing namjoon, maybe even shedding a few tears

they talked all night, reminiscing the good times, reigniting feelings

park jimin

after he and his ex broke up, jimin put all his anger and sadness into dancing

he would go on for hours on end, and i think he would do this as a way to let out his emotions while also trying to distract his mind

he was still in love with his ex and he would hate how they ended things, and for the reasons as well

at night, jimin found his thumb hovering over his ex’s name, debating on texting them; but he was nervous, as if he and his ex had never spoken before

sometimes he imagined himself confessing to his ex again, he and his ex falling in love again, making up and pretending that nothing ever happened

the members would see how jimin was feeling, he didn’t mean for it to affect his everyday life

finally, jimin sent his ex a text, asking if they could talk; he really needed it

and it seemed his ex needed too so they facetimed, talking quietly as to not bother anyone

it was awkward at first, but before he knew it, he and his ex were laughing and brought back together

kim taehyung

i honestly think taehyung would be in some form of denial at first, like, yeah he and his ex broke apart, but he didn’t want it

it was a mutual decision, but it was because of his ex, he just wanted to make them happy, but taehyung wasn’t happy

he and his ex often talked, mainly it was small talk; “how are you?”, “what did you do today?”, “did you eat?”

it was evident that he wasn’t too keen on letting his ex go, especially under the circumstances

say taehyung was about to leave on a long world tour; he was excited, yes, but his ex preoccupied his thoughts

before the plane ride, he wrote a long ass paragraph to his ex explaining everything, his feelings, his thoughts, what he wanted; then he turned off his phone

he spent the flight sleeping or talking to the members, watching movies on their phones

when taehyung landed, he turned his phone back on, not expecting a reply from his ex, but there was one, and his ex was missing him and claimed they’d wait for him to come home

jeon jungkook

this little maknae was definitely sad about parting ways with his ex; it was his first (or one of his first) serious relationship and he loved them a lot

i think he’d try not to think about it often, but it was hard; every little thing would remind him of his ex

he was shy, too nervous to say anything to his ex

the members all offered various pieces of advices; “talk to them, you need closure”, “i think it’s best to not think about them”, “maybe you and them need a good conversation”

jungkook tried to listen to them, but his heart was saying another thing

one late night, when jungkook couldn’t sleep; he was exhausted and he had plans the next day

but after wandering around on social media, an idea struck him

he opened a recorder app on his phone and sang a mellow and acoustic version of euphoria

when his ex received it, they started to cry, their head and heart full of emotion

it took a few days to muster up the courage, ever after he had sent them the recording, but he asked if they would ever take him back

and he smiled with tears

Let’s talk about Park Jimins work ethic for a bit today. My boy has one of the strongest work ethic I’ve seen in this industry and I don’t think it’s appreciated enough.

Exhibit A, During the love yourself tour he had his back locked and was having muscle pain but on his birthday show, he did his best. He really danced like he wasn’t in pain. The only time I saw any proof of his suffering was when he was limping off stage and that too, at the end of the entire fucking concert. He changed his choreographies slightly and that’s all he did. He didn’t slow down and did not get on a chair even though he should’ve because Jungkook was already not in the performances and they couldn’t afford to not have JM performing too. He deadass performed the whole show with not the slightest of discomfort on his face when merely hours before the show he couldn’t even turn his neck in the videos Hobi posted. He skipped the graham norton show just to perform a whole show with intense choreographies and continuous singing for someone who had trouble moving his head hours prior. Look at his smile like he isn’t hurting with every move he makes.

Exhibit B, Jimin being the small clumsy mochi he is falls a whole lot of times but the take here is that every time he falls on stage, it takes him less than 0.2 seconds to get up and re enter the choreography like he didn’t just fall straight down and hurt himself. The way he never stops mid choreography to even regain his composure and just dives right into formation and continues dancing like nothing happened.

Exhibit C, The many many times BTS have said that Jimin is the most hardworking member of the group which is so evident in the way he constantly strives to be better even though there isn’t really room for improvement left for him. He has burned out his body practicing to the point where he himself said that at one point he literally used to eat and sleep in the practice rooms. Time and again he simply says, “I’ll try more for you guys as I’m still lacking” and God knows every time he says that all I want to do is just tell him that he really doesn’t need to try that hard altogether. What he is as a person, a performer and as an artist will always be way more than enough.

Exhibit D, The wings tour in Macau when he had to sit out because of his chronic muscle pain and all the time he was sitting you could see the damn need in his eyes to just get up and perform. The way his eyes were literally following the choreography cause all he wanted was to get up on stage and do what he was born for. The way Namjoon and Taehyung kept looking over him in performances to make sure he isn’t hurting for him to eventually get up during spring day and with not a care in the world perform the song like nothing ever happened.

Exhibit E, Today, when he got injured on stage and couldn’t even do the choreography properly to the point where he was just standing and moving his hands and was badly limping when he got off the stage after pre recording and now he is out there performing on that Gwanju stage like his body isn’t begging him to stop. Now, I for one am not romanticizing his pain and saying that it is amazing how he works so hard. NO, I’m fucking furious at how he is out there performing when all he should be doing is resting right now. My man is literally limping off stage and y’all are making him perform days before the BBMAs when he has to do all these rigorous schedules. The fact that they have to go to these crusty ass award shows and do these schedules when all they should be doing is resting just makes me so mad but at the same time, it’s so fucking commendable that he is out there smiling, dancing and performing like the legend he is even though he is in so much pain. It just makes me so proud that he is out there doing what he does best; performing like his life depends on it.

Ugh, WE DON’T DESERVE. WE REALLY DON’T.

His beautiful body is littered with bruises from all the pain he has put himself through but when you look into his eyes all you see is the love he has for army and the sheer dedication and willpower that makes him Park Jimin, one of the greatest performers of his time.

“You’re going to do amazing tonight Jungkook. You always do. There’s no need to stress, okay?” His girlfriend, Y/N told him through FaceTime.

“I know Y/N. It would be easier for me to feel at ease if you were here with me, though. I miss you so much” He said back to her.

“Just one more month Kookie” she responded back, finishing up pinning the last pin on her blazer. FORMATION IN TEN. “I have to go sweetie. They’re calling us down. I love you so much, and I’ll call you later, okay?”

“Okay babe. Be careful, and I love you too” Jungkook said ending the call. Y/N was serving in the United States Army and was finishing up her last year in her contract. They met while she was on her first tour, which was in South Korea. Ever since bumping into each other in the bagel shop early that Thursday morning, they’ve been inseparable, despite the distance. Jungkook thought it was amazing of her, to serve her country the way she did, even though people in both his and her family said that it’s not something a ‘woman is supposed to do’. He was so proud of her and bragged about her often.

Hoseok saw the look in his face as soon as he hung up. “What’s wrong hyung?” He asked, although, being pretty sure of the answer.

“I just miss her. It’s on night’s like tonight I wish I was able to have her back here with us, calming me down and hyping us up for this show” Jungkook replied, now looking up from his blank phone screen. “I wanted her to see the debut of our new song for herself, Jimin and I worked so hard on the showcase for the song, and it sucks she can’t be here for it.”

Hoseok looked at the maknae of the group with a sympathetic expression. He hatted seeing him like this, and he couldn’t imagine what it was like. Especially when Y/N was deployed to a different country for months at a time, where at any point she could be killed. “The important thing is that she WILL see it. Plus, you know what she’s doing is necessary, and it’s not forever. Like she said, just one more month” He said, trying to help Jungkook lift his spirits a bit.

It’s true, life for the partner of an active duty soldier was not easy. They dealt with the daily fear of having their partner deployed for months at a time, and during that time they’d have limited connection with them. While they were home, they would love on each other like never before because they never knew if that was going to be the last time they’d feel their touch or hear their voice. For Jungkook and Y/N, things were a bit harder. Jungkook dealt with the stress deployment brought, on top of only getting to see each other a handful of times in person because Y/N was stationed over in Texas. Whenever they were able to see each other they would do everything and anything they could within the time they had. When they made love, he made love to her as if it was the last time he was ever going to be able too, because it could have every well been the last time. It took them an hour at times to get out of bed in the mornings because they didn’t want to separate from the normalcy that being together like that caused.

“Yeah, you’re right. Then after this we can finally live together and have the life we’ve been dreaming about” Jungkook said, now getting up to head out with Hoseok to meet the others. “You ready to give one hell of a performance tonight?”

“I’m always ready. Let’s do this, for ARMY!” Hoseok said to pump up the vibe.

All the boys go together back stage before heading out to start the concert and started to do their fan chant to get them excited and ready for the performance. “KIM NAMJOON, KIM SEOKJIN, MIN YOONGI, JUNG HOSEOK, PARK JIMIN, KIM TAEHYUNG, JEON JUNGKOOK, BTS!!!!”

“Okay guys” Namjoon started out. “Let’s go out there and give Seoul the best show they’ve ever seen!”

All the boys yelled back in response to the hype. Jungkook still missing Y/N, tried to push it to the side. Y/N meant the world to him, but so did ARMY. For any performance, he tried to push the world to the side and focus in on ARMY.

“Are you guys ready for an amazing show tonight?!” Jimin yelled in his microphone. The crowd roared in response, and the boys started off the concert by singing Boy With Luv.

Throughout the concert, the boys had a blast, just as they always do. Looking around, Jungkook took the time to take in all that was surrounding him. Sometimes he found it unbelievable that the band made it to places like here, in big stadiums. The Love YourselfTour, has to be his favorite by far. As he’s scanning the crowd, Jungkook sees his family and he begins to cry. Both his mother and father waving at him, he puts his hand on his face to hide the tears that were falling. Soon, Jin comes over to hug and comfort him.

“Jungkook here sees two very important people to him, his appa and eomma” Jin said in the microphone.

Pulling himself together, Jungkook says, “I’m so glad to see them here today. I haven’t seen them in a few months, so to see them here, watching us in one of our biggest performances we’ve done so far, it’s truly the best feeling”

Yet, he was still feeling like something was missing, and he knew exactly what it was, Y/N. His parents, ARMY and hyungs were all there, but not Y/N. “Tonight, we are going to be performing our new song, Lights, for you. Jimin and I worked hard to write and create the performance for this song, we hope you enjoy it” Jungkook said.

Right after, the song began to play behind them, signaling Jungkook to start singing and it had ARMY roaring. “You’re my light, you’re my light” Jimin sang into the mic, and right at that point the monitors that once held a close-up version of what they were doing on stage switched over to a slideshow of photos of Y/N and Jungkook throughout the last two and a half years. From photos of them at Disney World, date nights at their favorite bakery, her meeting his family back in Busan, him meeting her family back in New York, laying around the house, going to the beach, and some photos he just took of her that he absolutely loved.

“Every time I’m thinking about love, every time I’m thinking about love”Hoseok sang in the mic. Now, starring at the monitor hadn’t realized that he was tearing up. I really do love her, he thought to himself. “You’re my light, you’re my light” Now, he was singing through the mic, and with such power. She is his light, his muse, his everything.

Right after his verse, the crowd was roaring louder than they had normally through the whole concert, so this caused Jungkook to look back to see what was causing the reaction. He couldn’t even begin to describe what the sight in front of him was making him feel. He saw Y/N walking to him with Taehyung and Yoongi guiding her. She was wearing her Army uniform and her hair pulled back, looking like she just came here from the airport. He couldn’t even keep himself up, because his knees were buckling right underneath him from the splurge of emotions. She continued to walk towards him, and it still felt like a dream to him. This is the first time he was seeing Y/N in 5 months, and it still didn’t feel real, even though she had now reached him and was hugging him right where he was kneeling down in tears.

“Everyone, please help us in welcoming our Jungkook’s girl back, Sgt. Y/L/N Y/N of the United States Army, or as we like to call her, Y/N/N” Namjoon said in the mic, causing the crowd to roar loud again, on their feet this time.

Still hugging Jungkook, Y/N said in his ear, “I’m home Kookie.”

“Home?” He asked confused.

“Didn’t we discuss about me moving to South Korea with you once my contract with the Army was up?”

“I mean, yes, but you still have another month, don’t you?”

She gave him the warmest smile that melted everything around him as she said, “Well, there’s a reason they discharged me earlier then expected…”

Jungkook looked at her confused, but before he could ask her what she meant, Namjoon spoke into the mic again, saying, “Everyone, Y/N has a video here for our Kook here to see, and she wanted everyone here to see it with him.”

Why is he smiling so big at me?Jungkook thought to himself. As he was watching the video of Y/N coming out of a room, he saw her holding something. “What does it say?”A female voice said behind the camera, causing Jungkook to read the Korean subtitles on the bottom. At this point, Y/N was holding his hand in excitement.“It’s positive Carey. I’m pregnant. Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it. I’m going to have a baby!!!!”and that ended the video, leaving Jungkook shocked and speechless, while the boys came up in a rush to congratulate their maknae in entering the world of fatherhood. The crowd were yelling a mixture of things, all in excitement as well.

Looking at Jimin, Jungkook asked, “Was all this why my parents were here tonight?”

But, Y/N stepped in saying, “I asked to be here. I wanted them here when I revealed the news to you. I know how much all the people here mean to you, so I want them to share in this next chapter.”

“Is this why you were discharged a month early? Because you’re pregnant?”

Y/N didn’t say anything at first, she just nodded her head yes. Once she saw Jungkook was still not saying anything about the news, she looked at him with some sadness washing over her saying, “Are you upset that I’m pregnant? I thought you’d be more excited. I’m sorry Kookie-“

“You have NOTHING to be sorry for my love” Jungkook said interrupting her. “You are forever going to be the love of my life and now you’re giving me one of the biggest blessings I could ever ask for. I love you so much Y/N”

He began to pick her up and spin her around, with her responding, “I love you too Kookie. I can’t wait to begin our lives together with our little baby in the midst.”

“Me either Y/N. This is the happiest day of my entire life. You’re my light.”

Apink is A+ at Anime Matsuri

I didn’t get it. But I do now.

As Eun-Ji encouraged the audience to participate in call and response with “L-O-V-E LUV,” I thought to myself, You’re trying so hard for a crowd that’s half-filled with people who don’t even know who you are—I really hope they’ll do this for you, Eun-Ji.

By the end of the song, I realized almost everyone was participating the callback. I was, too. I was so into it that I’m pretty sure my “love” response actually sounded like “LUV.”

It was official—I’d been bitten by the K-pop bug. More accurately, by a pink panda.

Apink is among a cavalcade of K-pop girl groups that are not only hugely popular in South Korea, but which have gained a notable amount of success in the U.S. BTS is the most popular of the groups, achieving all manner of success, but the girl groups have strong followings as well. Apink, whom I watched perform during the first night of Anime Matsuri 2019, a massive anime convention in Houston, Texas, lacks the name power of the most notable girl groups like BLACKPINK and Twice, but is still stunningly popular. They have 700,000 followers on Instagram and another 800,000 on Twitter; many are fans who can recite their lyrics, but wouldn’t be able to hold a conversation in Korean.

There’s an comparison to be made to the Latin music explosion of the late 90’s and early 00’s, though what’s remarkable is that popular releases from Ricky Martin and others were mostly in English, while K-pop remains almost entirely Korean, with English words dropped into lyrics (not entirely different from the Korean language). As is the case with many fans today, I used K-Pop to help develop my Korean skills, though I was listening in the 90’s to bands who would become pioneers of today’s girl groups, like Fin.K.L (Fin Killing Liberty) and my favorite, S.E.S. I wasn’t some trendsetter—K-pop groups had some measure of popularity even back then—but none of us could have predicted just how massive the genre would become some fifteen years later.

Apink is almost a bridge to that past. Not only are they enduring, reversing a trend and growing in popularity eight years after their formation, but Apink has also been compared to past groups, especially to S.E.S., with both featuring a more wholesome image than some of the most popular girl groups of today. In the last few years, Apink has embraced a more contemporary style, but perhaps that makes the comparison stronger—S.E.S. also transitioned to a sexier look as they progressed.

But the selling point for Apink and other bands isn’t just their looks (though all the members are beautiful)—it’s the mixture of intelligence, naivete, and style that the girls exude. They make the audience want to be friends with them, just as they’ve made a whole generation of Korean-Americans want to be them.

The girls’ strong personalities were on display during a Q&A held a few hours prior to the concert at Anime Matsuri. Their responses were cute and confident, and the crowd was absolutely charmed. One audience member brought a prop of Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer, and found an opportunity to run up and give it to Eun-Ji, who has come to be associated with the Marvel character because of a photo that makes her look like the god of lightning (not to mention her toned physique); she hammed it up and posed for the delighted crowd, many of whom likely had no idea what this was all about.

Even with interpretation frequently required, the girls delivered some humorous lines:

When asked what superpowers they would want to have, Bo-mi and Ha-young both also expressed they wanted to be like Thor; Bo-mi added that she recently watched Aladdin, and “I want to be your magic lamp.”

Cho-rong expressed admiration for BTS, saying, “Nowadays, BTS has spread K-pop all over the world, and we will do our best to become one of those popular groups.” Ha-young, when asked the same question about a favorite senior in the industry, responded, “I really like Beyoncé. I really respect her as a senior and I want to be respected like her.” When it was explained to Ha-young that Beyoncé is actually from Houston, where the girls currently were, her eyes went big like she was going to be make a surprise appearance. Alas, no Beyoncé—perhaps next time.

Although Bo-mi expressed that it’s better to live together when asked about residing outside a dorm now, she admitted, “Having my own space and privacy is good. When I want to cry and want to laugh, I can do so comfortably.”

Nam-joo kept repeating the refrain of enjoying “Texas steak,” even when she was asked about a career outside of the music industry: “Maybe I would be some company CEO? Maybe of a restaurant…Texas steak is really delicious. I love food.” Na-eun, to the same question about career, said, “I think I might be an artist. I’ve been learning art since I was young. But I’m very appreciative to have an opportunity to be part of Apink.”

The entire group was very loveable—their personalities shined through not only at the panel, but at the concert as well. In between songs, the girls would stop to speak to the crowd. Bo-mi was the MVP, outrageous and hilarious. At one point she asked if anyone just found out about Apink today, which felt totally improvised. Also off-script was the heat—more than once they asked the crowd if it was as hot down there (it wasn’t) as it was on stage. Through the temperatures, physical stage performance (the dancing was very much on-point), and jet lag, Apink performed very well. I was surprised at how strong the singing was, especially from Eun-ji and Bo-mi, who sometimes let the vocals rip to the applause of the crowd.

Consummate performers, they were completely entertaining even when things didn’t go entirely well, including difficulty with a mic for their translator. I need to emphasize what an unusual concert this was Apink. Besides the aforementioned flubs, they were performing before an audience comprised of many participants who didn’t know them (it seemed like 90% of the attendees surrounding me didn’t know their music at all), speaking in a language not all the girls were comfortable with, and dancing and singing in an arena better suited for a rave (which it held later) than a K-pop concert. But Apink brought class to the festivities, from their one-by-one appearances via car drop-off to the stage to their glittering dresses to sharp vocals to a conclusion that left the crowd chanting for more. Most of us left as fans that night if we weren’t already, getting a glimpse of a group whose music gets play here, but who rarely tour in the U.S.

I think the greatest appeal of Apink and of K-pop girl groups in general is that the mixture of two worlds. At once very staged—Koreans put a high value on keeping face—but also earnest; sexy but innocent; friendly but with an edge; manufactured but talented; foreign but accessible. It’s been years now since I was into K-pop, and I’ve avoided jumping back in because you can’t be partly invested in music sung in a foreign language (and my Korean, though never good, has languished to the point of virtual nothingness)—you’re all in or you’re not. Because of Apink, I’m now understanding that I can no longer avoid the phenomenon. Once again, I’m all in.

During the introduction for the Q&A, Anime Matsuri’s CEO, John Leigh, asked a provocative question: “Does K-pop belong at an anime convention?” That’s up for debate. But his follow-up isn’t: “Should we have more K-pop in the future?” If the next group you bring to Houston is anything like Apink in talent, personality, and authenticity, then the answer is, Yes, John. Please, please yes.

Memories 2015 Disc 3

So I asked awhile ago when I said I was going back to watch every memories DVD they have released so far, if you would be interested in commentary from me as I did so. There were a lot of people who said yes, so here we are! I have officially watched BTS Memories of 2015. Here are my thoughts as I went. There were only 4 DVDs in this one. Part 1 with the first 2 discs is already up and on my masterlist. Reminder that these aren't going to be smoothly written out thoughts. You get these like I'm live reacting, texting my bestie or live tweeting. Lol it'll be in like bullet point format sort of, just... a commentary post as I go. Lol Hope you enjoy anyway! Let's go!

Disc 3:

Wake Up Japan Concert Making Film:

Wake Up: Open Your Eyes, BTS's first Japan tour. They did 6 concerts from February 10th - 19th in 2015. They were soooo excited about having a first tour in Japan. Omg.

Watching the Tannies get giggly and embarrassed watching back their own VCRs is so cute. I swear I love seeing them react to themselves. Lol

During Joon's pep speech before their second concert, I absolutely love that he goes "and do NOT touch the actual lasers during 2nd grade performance." Did that happen on the first day or maybe during rehearsals? Lmfao

No, because BTS were hopping off that stage during this concert and going right up to the gate to hold hands with and engage directly with fans. Can you imagine?! Suga doing his ending commentary talking about how Jimin hit him with his mic and Jimin just backhugging him the whole time apologizing. Lol

Everyone after their 3rd concert in Osaka, exhausted but happy coming off stage. Jungkook, cartwheeling and barrel rolling down the hallway to the camera to give his ending mentions. Lol so much energy 😂

Everyone celebrating Hobi's birthday on stage during their Nagoya concert and he was so happy. Everyone was giving him so many hugs, Vmin especially were all over him. The fans all singing and bringing a cake on stage.

They loved this tour. That was so sweet. I also am giggling over how whoever picked which concert footage made it into this tour making film, picked Jimins No More Dream Ab reveal from every single show to go in 😂 ugh, I'm going to need to find this concert in full to watch at some point, it looked so good!

BTS Live Trilogy Episode 2: The Red Bullet Tour Making Film:

So this started with bringing us back to Nov. 2014 and their very first concert outside of Korea for the Red Bullet Tour, rehearsals and getting ready for that first performance. It then also brings us through the preparation for the rest of the Red Bullet Tour prep through August 2015 as well.

Tae taking us on a tour of everyone's hotel rooms in Toyko, except JinJikook who didn't answer their door. RM was working so hard. It's the way they never stop working. Even in the middle of the night, they are running through things for the concert or working on music.

So is every performance of Outro: Propose just a chance for vocal line to flirt with each other? Lol JK proposing to Jin, Vmin blowing kisses to each other...

The cameraman continually trying to run away from JK who keeps trying to stick tape to the camera lens. Lmfao why?!

Jin, JM and JK go to the gym and have a pull up contest, whoever loses has to do 30 push-ups. JK lost with 10 pull-ups to JinMin's 11. And this is where we get the oh so iconic "Okay baby, 30 push-ups" and "make sure you show ARMY your arm muscles" moment. This is from the fanmeeting/concert date in the Philippines in Dec 2014. And I'll just... 🤐 Now he also showed off Jin's arm muscles during push-ups to ARMY and called them both sexy, but there was a fairly obvious difference in tone and amount of "wows" used in my opinion. And again, I'll just... 🤐

Singapore fanmeeting was huge! So cool. On stage was amazing. Everyone taking turns doing aeygo in the center of the stage, then there is Jimin who does a body roll 😂 because of course. I still can't get over how close they got with the fans during these concerts. Jimin literally practically gave one girl his mic during one of the last few songs. And they came off that stage with SO MUCH energy. Suga screaming as he runs with his hands in the air is amazing. They were so excited to be in Singapore. NamKook's "mom I'm in Singapore" yells to the camera 🥺

Suga trying to pretend like he isn't as touched as he was and trying to scold the members and staff for not telling him about his birthday surprise. They brought cake on stage and fans all sang to him. He got emotional and embarrassed and it was so sweet.

Lmfao after the concert Jimin sneaks the camera into his room with Tae to surprise him. "He might be undressed." Lol then leave the camera behind Jimin! Warn your friend 😂 and he was not dressed. Lmfao *footage cuts* This was followed by 2 different self directed vmin skits. One a monster hunter/monster attack in the bathroom (Jimin playing the role of the moster) and their angst filled gay lovers break up skit. Lol

They were all so excited to go to the zoo in Sydney and to take a ferry to go see the Opera House. I love them. They were disappointed they didn't have time to see a Gorilla so Namjoon pretended to be one to make them happy. Worlds best leader. On the ferry JinMin were doing the titanic pose but kept poking each other's armpits. Lol the editors "they look like a newly Wed couple on their honeymoon." 🤣 and then RM wanting to do it too. Minimoni titanic so cute.

Whose idea was it to let BTS do self cameras during their encore because it has been beautiful chaos every single time and i love them for it. Also JKs little butt tap to Jimin when he is trying to show him how to be cute on stage for ARMY because JK got embarrassed doing aeygo. Lol and JK trying to teach Tae his hat trick choreo for no more dream while Jihope watches. Ahh, the start of the dance line, this is where it started and just a few years later Tae officially gets named Dance Line too 🥺

Everyone is practicing super seriously to for We On in rehearsals... and then there is Taekook wildly flailing, head banging and jumping all over the entire stage behind them the whole time unless it's their turn to sing. 🤣 I love how they have so much fun together.

Not Jimin picking Jin up on his shoulders to jump around during the encore. Lol I have seen them do this multiple times over the years. Why is it always them?! 😅 and the way JK hated doing aegyo on stage. Everytime he got picked he got so embarrassed and stopped halfway through for someone else to do it for him anyway. Lmao usually Suga, Joon or Jin take over for him.

Getting ready for the LA concert and Tae is teasing JK about his old predebut vlogs and going "awww pre puberty Jungkookie is so cute" as JK tries to wrestle the phone away from him. Lmao

The way Tae plopped his chin on top of Hobi's head followed on JKs head as they sang. And I think Suga enjoys doing his little aeygo bit. Lol they seemed to love performing in Mexico City and were able to get super close to the fans. JK was getting right up to the front row and blowing kisses!

What did Tae do to Jimin during War Of Hormone in Brazil to have him immediately start kicking him as Tae can't stop laughing as soon as the song ends? Lol BH editors, we need more context please 😂

They had so so so much in Chile. Omg. The giant stage they loved. Jin on Jimin's shoulders again. The way they all goofed off extra hard for the cameras at the end. Jimin coming up to lean his head on JKs shoulder for the self cam for a little bit. Let me melt out of cuteness. (Gif above from Jimmeo-kookliet.)

Man, Jihope be going wild for their blanket kick kiss even during rehearsals. Lol and The way that Suga is the one acting cute for almost every single show 😂 he keeps losing rock paper scissors. And a cake and birthday celebration for NamKook on stage 🥺

Man, I love them. They did 25 shows in 17 cities in 13 different countries over 11 months for this tour. That is INSANE. Not only did they travel and work so so hard during rehearsals and preparing for the concert. But they took time to learn greetings and to say I Love You to fans in the language of the country they were in. They work so hard and they care so much and they love so fully.

They were all so happy hearing ARMY cheer, scream and sing to their songs. You could see the geniune love, amazement and happiness shine through all 7 of them. They worked so so hard and not only did they go through what has to have been an exhausting but fun tour, but they were filming MVs and releasing other content and producing/recording albums. They truly really do work very very hard. I love them so much. They deserve the world 💜🥰🥺💜

I loved this. Seeing them have fun, seeing them work so hard. Seeing them start to achieve the things they deserve. Seeing them happy. I'll do Disc 4 (the final disc) in a new part since this is already long! Thanks for letting me share 💜

moonlight kisses and dahlias ||kth

genre(s): fluff fluff fluff and oh, did I mention fluff? also idk if you would call it angst but like hyung line lecture tae for a half a minute before everything is all good again.

warnings: a couple curse words towards the end, a steamy kiss at the end ;)

summary: basically taehyung enjoying himself until a strange girl (you) comes up and stares at him in bewilderment because this field felt like it belonged to you and what was he doing lazing in the lavender? after a few weeks he takes you stargazing as an unofficial first date and you accidentally totally on purpose kiss him whilst straddling him surrounded by dahlias underneath the night sky.

guys! @whimsicalliethereal made this beautiful moodboard with MKAD in mind and it’s really amazing! I was so happy and amazed when she sent it to me and told me she loved the story so much that she wanted to make something for it and when she found the photos of tae in a field she knew she had to make it for MKAD. like I told her, it completely and perfectly captures the first scenes in the story with so much similarity its a little scary haha. these are the types of images I created in my head when I made the story and to see it put into a moodboard format is unreal! please show her all of the love in the world for this because it really is amazing, thank you so much again cara!

the wind blew through the field with such grace that could only be likened to that of a ballet dancer, lightly sifting through the patches of blue larkspurs and purple lilacs, drifting under the stretch of red anemones and floating through the petals of yellow daffodils. she spurred on in her endeavor to reach the boy laying in the space he created amongst the lavender, fit perfectly to his thin frame. when she finally reached him she flowed delicately around his body, sending a soothing chill down his spine. finally, washing over him completely- she started at his messy dirty blonde hair, moving through his locks and towards his nose and cheeks, leaving the softest of kisses amongst them before finally falling towards the bottom half of his body and eventually leaving.

he closed his eyes with a contented sigh as the sun rose higher into the clouds above, marking it midday. he had ventured out here early in the morning to catch the sunrise, his camera resting peacefully beside him filled to the brim with all the pictures he had captured, making sure he would have enough to look through until he found some he liked. he decided to lay in the fields for a bit afterwards, embracing the cool May breeze that came with spring, the beautifully bloomed flowers around him only adding to his serenity. he enjoyed days like this, days were he could come out and not have to worry about being spotted by fans. he had always come to this field because it was empty and tucked away from the rest of the world, albeit never as early as he did today. it also harbored some of his favorite flowers which he didn't hesitate to add to his portfolio throughout his visits.

he had begun to drift off until he heard the faintest sound of footsteps. he felt his heart rate start to increase, thoughts running wild on who could have followed him here. he thought maybe it was one of the other boys, quite possibly jimin who had accompanied taehyung to this field a few times in the past. but he was sure that the others would have been busy with other projects or taking time for themselves after their long months of touring and other activities. taehyung had become so lost in thought about who could have arrived at the field that he didn't realize the footsteps had stopped only a couple feet from where his body lay, a girl standing merely 5 feet from him observing his relaxed stature.

she blinks a couple of times, contemplating on whether she should ask the boy if he is awake or simply continue on her walk through the flowers, but something about his calm aura was intriguing, she felt as if she were being pulled into him. she frequented this field often, sketchbook and camera always in hand so she was ready if inspiration were to ever hit her but not once had she run into this boy. she couldn’t help but to feel offended by his presence, but the thought was gone as soon as it had appeared because this wasn't her field, it was available to anybody who wished to venture into its gorgeousness. she supposes she was so used to always being alone that it had started to feel like the field was placed here specifically for her to sit and enjoy, allowing the sun to kiss her skin to a golden tan. she's getting ready to continue on her walk towards her favorite spot when the boy slowly opens his eyes to peer up at her. she swallows thickly before squeaking out the shyest of “hello”'s. the boy below her smiles politely before sitting up and looking at her, instinctively she takes a couple steps backward.

“hi, do you mind if I ask why you were staring at me?” he questions, with a voice as deep as the ocean but as smooth as silk and she wonders if its normal to be so attracted to someone's voice. she quickly dismisses the thought as her cheeks tint the faintest of pink and taehyung can't help the smile spreading across his lips as he watches the girl in front of him become shy.

“I-I'm sorry. I was just walking through to um, to get to that tree over there-” she points to their left at the oak tree situated between spreads of dahlias. the flowers range in color from full deep purples to reds with white tips and the softest of pinkish whites alongside dark blues. she turns back sheepishly to the boy, hoisting her tote bag higher upon her shoulder. she doesn't miss the way his eyes flicker to the bag with curiosity before they quickly move back to her own, silently encouraging her to continue explaining why she had stopped to stare at him. “-and I'm not used to seeing anyone else around here, so you sort of piqued my interest.” she raises her hand that isn't occupied by the bag on her shoulder and subconsciously tucks a loose piece of hair behind her ear, her cheeks turning darker red and taehyung notices that her ears are slightly pink as well.

“I was about to leave though! I'm so sorry if I interrupted your nap.” taehyung realizes that this girl must not recognize who he is, because she isn't freaking out over him being a member of BTS, or she's just handling the situation very well. he smiles up at her again before speaking.

“you didn't interrupt me, I come here pretty often to take pictures of the flowers or just to clear my head for a bit,” he raises a hand and points at her bag secured around her shoulder. “whatcha got in there?” he doesn't miss the way the corners of her mouth curl up into a slight grin at the mention of her tote bag. he watches as she lifts the bag higher upon her shoulder more before wrapping both hands around the straps, looking anywhere but at taehyung's face as she speaks.

“uhm, just my sketchbook and camera, I come here often as well to see what kind of inspiration I can get from the scenery, it took me by surprise seeing you here because I've been coming here for a little over a year now and have never seen anyone else around.” she speaks in a louder voice now, excitement beginning to drip off of her words as she speaks, and her eyes beginning to sparkle like someone had placed the stars in them themselves, and he can't help but wonder what it would be like to get lost in her eyes.

“you take pictures too?” he grins before turning slightly to his right and grabbing his camera from behind him, gently shaking it in front of his frame as if to say “so do I” before situating it into his lap and looking back up at her.

“ah yeah, but I mostly use it in case my sketchbook isn't handy and I find a scene I really want to draw. but sometimes I like to have both the sketch and the picture just because.” her cheeks are turning red again and she can feel her whole body igniting with heat. she nervously tucks another piece of hair behind her ear before she clears her throat and looks down at the boy in front of her, their eyes finally meeting. taehyung allows himself to become lost in her eyes like he thought of before but it's not the same when he's situated on the ground and she stands a good 5 feet above him.

the moment doesn't last long before he's standing up and placing his hand out in front of him for a handshake.“my name's taehyung, and you are?” he tilts his head slightly to the left as he reaches out for her hand and she can't stop the small giggle that leaves her lips as she allows one hand that has been gripping the shoulder straps of her tote bag free and is connecting it with his in a firm shake.“y/n.” she breathes, and taehyung blinks a couple times as he plays her name out in his head, happy that he now has a beautiful name to put to the equally beautiful face before him.

“well, it was really nice to meet you y/n, but unfortunately I have to get back to my place,” taehyung smiles as he finally lets go of her hand, watching as she lets it drop to her side instead of returning it to the shoulder straps of her bag. she nods her head before she responds, telling him that it was a pleasure to meet him as well. for a moment taehyung wonders if he should ask for her number, but quickly realizes how risky that could be in case she was a fan and was just really good at keeping her cool, but something told him she didn't know who he was and that made him feel happy.

he knew that if they did meet up again at the field and continued whatever this was he would have to tell her, but for the time being he allowed himself to be known as taehyung to her, not as “v from bts”. They both turn after saying their goodbyes and walk towards their destinations, but after a couple of steps taehyung can't help but to turn around and get one more glance of her. he watches her walk toward the tree she mentioned, carefully parting a path through the dahlias to sit under the trees shade. he watches as she sits down with ease, breathing out a deep sigh of relief at being in a place that brings her so much peace. he watches her pull her sketchpad out first, briskly looking around her for inspiration. It's not long before he sees her pull out her pencils and begin working on a sketch. he smiles for what feels like the hundredth time and turns away, his walk back to the dorm filled with thoughts of her and hopes of meeting again soon.

It's approximately one week later that he sees her again. he's laying in the patch of lavender when he hears footsteps. he sits up quickly, a smile already placing itself on his lips as he watches her approach him, but this time something feels off. he notices that she walks with her head down, earbuds placed in her ears to drown out the world around her, and she wears a deep frown on her face. taehyung can't help the drop he feels in his stomach at watching her walk with such a sad atmosphere surrounding her. he finds himself wanting to protect her and fight off whatever it is that made her feel this way. as she gets closer he worries she will pass right by him, so it's with a small pout that he lays himself back in the lavender patch and puts his arms around his face to block out the sun, breathing deeply and peeking through the tiny hole he has allowed in his arms to see her pass by. when she doesn't and he notices the footsteps have stopped, he removes his arms with a confused look on his face as he sits up and looks around only to immediately find her standing in front of him like when they first met, only this time she is looking at him quizzically.

“hey taehyung.” she speaks quietly and replaces her quizzical look from before with an obvious forced smile. he feels his heart sink more, but knows he has no right to ask what it is that's bothering her, for all he knows she could just be having a bad day.

“hey y/n.” he smiles up at her and she quickly smiles back, and this time its not a forced one like before, but its also not as wide and as full as her smile was the first time they met. he's getting ready to ask her if she's alright despite his previous thought but he's cut off by his phone ringing. he smiles at her apologetically as he reaches into his pocket to pull it out and answer.

she can't hear whatever the other person is saying but by the look on taehyung's face she assumes it can't be good. she sees his smile falter before it turns into a tiny pout, one that she finds herself staring at for a bit too long-wondering what it might feel like to place her lips upon his soft looking ones. she shakes her head at the thought, mentally scolding herself because she just met this guy, she shouldn’t be thinking of him in that way. but she seemed to find herself thinking of him quite a lot since they first met. she couldn’t deny that he was attractive, god was he heavenly. she thinks back to last week when they had met for the first time. how she immediately noticed the small moles that littered his face in the cutest of places, like angels had kissed them there themselves, their lips brushing against his smooth skin and leaving the feathered marks behind. there was one on the tip of his nose, another towards the center of his right eye, and she almost missed it but there was one that occupied the corner of his mouth as well. she hoped that she didn’t alarm him with her staring that day, but she couldn't help but marvel at the beauty marks on his face. wondering what it would be like to trace them lightly with her fingertips. She got so lost in thought about taehyung and his stupidly gorgeous face that she doesn’t realize taehyung had ended the phone call and was staring at her waiting for a response.

“I’m sorry did you say something? I zoned out for a moment there” she states as her cheeks begin to dust pink at being caught in her thoughts, though she knows taehyung doesn’t know it was him on her mind she can’t help but feel flustered.

“that’s okay, I was just saying I'm sorry but my friend called and said he needed to meet with me as soon as possible,” taehyung scratches the back of his neck as he speaks, feeling like a high school boy who just confessed his feelings for his crush. “I’ll see you here soon though, right?” he asks hopefully, and who would she be to tell him no when he looked this adorable and bashful.

she nods her head, asking if he would like to exchange phone numbers to ensure their next meeting. taehyung swallows thickly at the thought of giving her his number. he’s almost positive that she isn’t a fan, but he’s still unsure. he would feel rude telling her no though, especially when she seemed so nervous about asking him in the first place. so he agrees and they exchange phones, putting their numbers into the others phones and handing them back with smiles plastered on their faces. he tells her he will let her know when he is free again and they can hopefully work it into their schedules. she assures him that she will keep her weeks open awaiting for his text and he can’t help but laugh at her cuteness. it’s with a couple quite “goodbye”’s and repeated “see you later”’s that they finally part ways.

taehyung finds himself preoccupied with what his message to her will be, that he is of no help to the other boys who had called him for help at the dorm earlier. they’ve taken notice that throughout the past week taehyung had seemed like his head was elsewhere, but they didn’t think to ask him about it until jin did later whilst they ate.

“what’s got your head in the clouds today tae?” jin asks around a mouthful of food. jin was the first to notice that taehyung had barely touched his food, a goofy and love struck grin plastered on his face as he moves the food around the takeout container. he had been like this ever since he came back from the dorms last week. he finally looks up and makes eye contact with jin for the first time since he arrived home earlier.

“ah, sorry hyung. it’s nothing.” taehyung smiles, his mind wandering back to her yet again. he still is thinking of how to text her, wondering if he should send her a simple “I’m free Friday night if you are!” or actually try and make conversation. he couldn’t deny the fact that he’s been itching to get to know her better since they met earlier that day, and if he didn’t believe at love at first sight before; he definitely did now.

“it can’t be just nothing if you’re so preoccupied that this is the first time you’ve even looked at us since you came back” namjoon laughs and taehyung can feel a blush rising to his cheeks as he bows his head slightly at the mention of his ignorance.

“awe hyung’s blushing! how cute~ it must be a girl that’s got his mind elsewhere” jungkook chimes in and taehyung raises his head quickly, mouth open to dispute what the maknae has said only to be beaten by yoongi.

“ah, so it is a girl” he states calmly as he continues to look down at his food and eat. taehyung opens and closes his mouth a couple of times, dumbfounded by the fact that his members were able to read him so quickly, and seem to be so calm about it too.

“is it that obvious?” he questions, his cheeks heating up even more as he fights the urge to smile.

“only because we know our taehyungie so well~” jimin says before bursting out into a fit of giggles and leaning onto tae’s shoulder. taehyung just smiles and begins eating his food in hopes they will change the subject but he knows that it’s all wishful thinking.

“well? are we right or are we right?” hoseok laughs, and all the members turn to look at taehyung expectantly. if taehyung didn’t look like a tomato before then he definitely does now. after a couple of deep breaths he slowly nods his head. it takes a good 3 seconds before everyone is screaming and cheering, the room quickly filling up with mixed shouts of encouragement. taehyung waits until its gotten quieter to speak again. “don’t get my hopes up, we just met the other day at the field.” he mumbles, beginning to play around with his food as an excuse to avoid eye contact with any of the members.

“the field? you mean that really pretty one we went to a couple weeks ago?” jimin questions from next to him and taehyung nods his head.

“yeah, I went there Monday morning to take pictures of the sunrise and wound up just laying there for a bit. she showed up and I noticed her staring at me so I asked if she was okay and she said she was just surprised to see someone else there. she said that she had been going there everyday for a year and had never seen anyone else there so I shocked her, I guess.” taehyung doesn’t notice it but the others surely do, how his lips have formed one of the biggest boxy smiles ever. they all exchange glances back and forth at their taehyung falling for a girl he had just met. they don’t blame him, being an idol is lonely and hard especially since they are forbidden by the company to date. taehyung looks up after he’s done speaking about her only to notice all of his members staring at him. he twists his face as speaks, “what? why are you all looking at me like that?” he is genuinely confused as to why his members were staring at him as if he were their son who had just won first place in a stupid spelling bee, looking at him with giant smiles on their faces. they all smile at each other again before hoseok speaks up.

“nothing tae, just glad that you’re meeting people,” he flashes him a smile before his lips form a thin line and his face scrunches up a bit and everyone else follows suit as their minds finally click into place about taehyung’s meeting.

“was she a fan?” “ did she recognize who you were?” “ oh god, she didn’t try to hurt you did she?” they’re all talking at once as they just realized that a random girl had approached tae while he was alone and far from the dorm. taehyung giggles, causing the rest to immediately stop shouting their concerns and stare at him.

“you guys are so cute sometimes but no, I don’t think she was a fan. she didn’t seem to recognize me and if she did then she was really good at hiding it.”

“well that’s good, as long as you didn’t give her your number then there is nothing to worry about. you wouldn’t do something that reckless anyways” jin laughs and everyone else joins in too before they all realize that taehyung’s shoulders have slumped and his head had buried in his chest, mimicking that of a hurt child.

“oh my god taehyung you gave her your number!” yoongi says exasperatedly at taehyung for doing something so stupid. even if she weren’t a fan and had no clue who he was, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t eventually find out and potentially post his number online for fans to find.

“I couldn’t say no to her! she was so cute and nervous about even asking me! how was I supposed to say no to that? I probably would have ruined her whole week if I did. you guys have to trust me when I say that I really don’t think she would do something like that.” taehyung’s hurt, but he knows he deserves their angry stares. he has potentially put himself in danger if she were to release his number on social media where it can be attained by anyone and everyone.

“you just met the girl like what,a week ago? how can you sit here and tell us you trust her when all you know is her name and where’s shes spent her evenings every day of the year?” this time it’s jin to speak up, as the oldest of the group he’s always been the most understanding but also the most sensible one next to yoongi and namjoon. speaking of, taehyung is surprised that namjoon hasn’t spoken up about his mistake, and when he moves to gauge namjoon’s reaction he’s surprised. namjoon sits still, his takeout container long forgotten by his side as he stares off in front of himself in thought. taehyung is almost scared to ask him what he has to say about all this, but he isn’t left to worry long as namjoon shifts his attention to taehyung and begins speaking.

“I’m going to have to agree with jin and yoongi on this one, taehyung-ah. what you did was reckless and even though you did it to preserve this girls feelings, you should have thought about the trouble you could potentially be causing for not only yourself but the rest of us as well.” everyone else is nodding along to namjoons words whilst taehyung instinctively begins to curl up into himself.

“I know hyung, I’m sorry I just-”

“but, if you say that you trust her then I’ll take your word for it. you have a good sense of character, but if she starts causing you any trouble you need to tell someone immediately so we can get your number changed and take proper action against her.” everyone’s mouths are agape at namjoons words, including taehyung. he thinks he might have given himself whiplash with how fast his head snapped up at the leaders confession.

“are you being serious right now?” taehyung can’t believe it. he turns to jimin and whispers “pinch me so I know this is real” and jimin looks at him with furrowed brows until taehyung is shoving his arm at his friend with eyebrows raised. jimin timidly pinches his arm and taehyung pulls back, rubbing at the spot jimin pinched. jimin just giggles at his friend before namjoon begins to speak again.

“yes I’m serious, if you really think she has no clue who you are, who we are, then I trust your judgement. though it baffles me that she hasn’t heard of us, I doubt she would be lying about that. has she contacted you yet? why did you exchange numbers?”

“well when jimin called and asked me to come back to the dorm and I told her I had to leave but wanted to see her again, she asked if I wanted to exchange numbers so we could make sure we both were going to be at the field. and no, she hasn’t contacted me yet, I’ve been thinking all day about how I should text her.” taehyung rubs at his neck, a blush beginning to creep up onto his cheeks again as he talks.

“well text her! what are you waiting for?” hoseok has jumped out of his seat and is animatedly moving around the living space, jumping between all the boys to get to taehyung. they all laugh at his antics and it only gets increasingly louder as hoseok reaches taehyung and jumps on top of him, squirming to reach his phone and text the girl himself. “just let me help you! you don’t have to send it! let me see your phone taehyung!” everyone is laughing as hobi holds taehyung down with one arm and begins searching his pockets for the device. when he finally retrieves it, he unlocks it and goes to the messages app. “what did you save her contact as?” hoseok asks from above taehyung, and he lets out an exaggerated sigh as he speaks. “it’s saved as her name, y/n.”

she’s spent the whole week thinking of him, wondering if she should message him first and tell him when she is free or wait for him to make the first move. she decides to wait for him to say something first, not wanting to come across as eager and desperate. why do you care so much? it’s not like you’re going on dates with the guy. she shakes her head, attempting to start work on cleaning up her apartment like she’s been meaning to for weeks now. she gets about 2 hours into cleaning when suddenly her phone goes off, interrupting the music she had blasting throughout the place to play her ringtone before resuming again. she walks over to check and see who texted her, almost dreading that it could be her boss asking her to come in on her day off like he’s done many times in the past. she’s shocked but finds a smile pulling at her lips when she reads taehyung’s name on her screen.

[5:15 pm] taehyung: hey! it's me! the guy from the field, taehyung. I just wanted to text you and let you know that I’m free in like 3 weeks if you wanted to meet up again! I know it’s really far away but I’m just super busy these next couple weeks :( if that doesn’t work though just let me know and we can work something out!

she smiles down at her phone, his nervousness is apparent in the way he texts her. repeating his name as if there was anyway she could forget meeting him. she quickly sends him a reply, letting him know that she has no problem with waiting to meet up. she can’t help herself from wondering what has him so busy the next 3 weeks though, but quickly dismisses it because it’s none of her business.

she doesn’t expect to hear from him again unless it was to talk about a day he would be free, but ever since that text about meeting in 3 weeks time they’ve been talking nonstop. later that day however, she caved and asked him about what he did because he seemed really busy all the time and he told her he was an idol, much to her surprise. well, not too shocking because he was insanely gorgeous and she didn’t doubt that he was incredibly talented as well, but she was still caught off guard.

it was cute when he had told her, he was so worried she was secretly a mega fan and was going to give his phone number out on social media and he had begged her to please not do that because “my hyung said if you did then we have to change my phone number and like sue you and stuff for harassment and I don’t want to stop talking to you just because I’m famous :( so like it’s not a big deal, I’m in a boy band, but I’m still a normal person like you so please don’t give my number out :(”. she remembers laughing hysterically at how he pleaded for her to keep it between them, but she promised him and he knew he could trust her.

since then they’ve spent countless nights talking about nothing and everything, learning about each other more and more and soon it began to feel like she had known him all her life. they found out they had a lot in common, they both liked the same foods, both had the same likes and dislikes, they shared their quirks and embarrassing childhood stories with each other. they even face-timed occasionally when taehyung claimed he had a story for her that would “take too long for me to text you about plus it’ll be funnier this way” only for them to end up on call for hours upon hours until she could hear his members telling him to hang up because he was being too loud and they all had practice the next morning.

it seemed that no matter how busy taehyung was, he always made time for her. he always made time to send her a quick text, reminding her to take care of herself because he had learned by now that when she was stressed at work she would often forget to eat or drink anything or he would text her countdowns of how much longer they had until he was finally free to see her at the field again. he couldn’t help but to keep promising her that he was going to make it worth the long wait that he apologized for daily until she told him that it was fine and she understood.

she had found that during their 3 weeks of endless chatting, she had begun to catch feelings for him. whenever she found herself thinking of taehyung in a way that was more than friendly she would stop herself, scolding herself for thinking anything could happen between them because he’s an idol and you’re not. little did she know that taehyung felt the same way too, and was having the same mental conflict as her because I’m an idol and she’s not and it could never work. it was rare to meet someone like her though, someone who wasn’t an idol themselves but was understanding of times when they would be talking and suddenly he had to leave. she never complained, never made it aware that she was frustrated with how crazy his schedule was. he knew that he had to keep her, no matter what it took.

it was somewhere during the two week mark of them meeting that taehyung had decided he was turning this meeting at the field into a date. he spent a lot of time with the other members asking them what he should do for the date, asking them if his ideas were too cheesy or too over the top, what girls appreciated during dates and what they found obnoxious and anything else he could possibly know. they helped him make the date into everything he could have dreamed of, the last step was to ask her if she was free on a Friday night and to ask her to show up with an empty stomach because he had “plans :)” as his already vague text had said.

she found herself feeling nervous when he texted about them finally meeting up. taehyung told her that he wanted to meet later in the day, around when the sun would be setting so he could get some pictures and they could have the opportunity to stargaze, an activity they both thoroughly enjoyed. she let herself think of this meet-up as a date but he can’t possibly be planning that because he doesn’t like me like that, right? maybe taehyung was feeling the same attraction that she was, but she didn’t allow her hopes to get too high because at the end of the day he was still an idol and she was just a normal person.

it was at exactly 5:30 on the day they had agreed to meet that taehyung texted her.

[5:30pm] taehyungie: hey! just wanted to make sure you were still showing up. I know you wouldn’t ditch me or anything like that but I was just getting nervous because you aren’t here yet.

[5:31pm]: of course I’m coming silly, I just left my apartment so it should take me about 5 minutes to get to the field. try not to die of boredom before I get there, see you soon!

she sends the message and puts her phone back in her pocket. the whole trip to the field is filled with thoughts of what he could have possibly planned for tonight.

it’s five minutes later, as she promised, that he hears her footsteps approaching and he gets nervous. he looks around him to make sure everything looks perfect.

“what’s all this?” he hears her question, turning himself around to look at her clad in a giant hoodie and a pair of jeans. her outfit is simple but taehyung can’t help but think she looks absolutely gorgeous. he smiles up at her before patting the spot next to him on the blanket.

“I told you we were stargazing, I had to make sure we were prepared.” she takes a spot next to him and they’re so close that their knees brush against each other every so often as taehyung pulls out sandwiches that jimin helped him make and hands her one. “I know it’s not like, I don’t know a steak or whatever, but I thought we could have a bite together too while we watched the sunset. oh look!” she breaks her gaze away from his and follows his eyes to look straight ahead of them. the spot taehyung picked was perfect, he’s placed them underneath her favorite tree surrounded by dahlias and the view of the sunset was absolutely breathtaking.

the sky broke out into strings of oranges, pinks and purples. all of them meshing together to form the prettiest of golden pink pools in the sky. she gazes out and can’t help but have her mouth fall open at the sight. she doesn’t think she’s seen something this beautiful in her life, and she’s trying her hardest to absorb it all into her memory for years to follow, focusing on the way the colors blend themselves together with the clouds and the treeline just below them. taehyung chances a glance over at her and can’t help but laugh at her dumbfounded expression.

“if you don’t close your mouth, you’ll drool all over yourself.” he laughs again and she looks at him before finally closing her mouth but not before she whispers, “it’s just so beautiful.” taehyung smiles and agrees with her, mumbling a soft “yeah, it is.” he quickly whips his camera out to take photos because he never wants to forget how the sky looks, but he also finds himself wanting to take photos of her too. he takes a couple shots from where he sits before standing up and looking down at her as she continues to stare off straight ahead.

“hey y/n, do you mind if I stand behind us a bit and take a picture of the sunset with you in it too?” she’s caught off guard by how quiet taehyung speaks, so used to the loud taehyung who’s always excited with whatever it is he’s speaking about. she looks up at him as he stands next to her with his camera in hand, a slight blush beginning to travel up his neck and spread itself onto his cheeks. she nods and before she knows it taehyung is running behind her a few feet and kneeling into the grass to line up his shot. she giggles at his antics before facing herself forward again, listening to the shutter of his camera. if she weren’t listening closely she would have missed the way taehyung mumbles a “beautiful” before jotting back to their blanket and watching the rest of the sunset with her. she allows herself to think that the comment is about her being in his shot, but figures he just got a really good photo.

when the sun finally finishes it’s decent, they’ve finished the sandwiches that taehyung packed and talked about their day. after a couple minutes of silence they both take note of the stars beginning to blossom in the night sky and situate themselves on the blanket so they can lay down and watch the stars. taehyung can't help himself and peers over at her, admiring the way the moon caresses the curves of her face, lightly settling on her cheeks and highlighting all of her features that he can see from this angle. he moves his gaze around her face, starting at her eyes and the way they are adamantly darting across the night sky, attempting to drink in everything it has to offer. he then moves his gaze down her cheeks again before settling on her lips, watching they way they naturally pout as she uses all of her focus to find stars and constellations above her.

taehyung finds himself staring at her face for what feels like hours but is really only a couple of minutes before he realizes he is staring into her eyes directly. she turned to face him when she had asked him a question and he didn’t answer. she thought that maybe he had fallen asleep, seeing as he told her earlier that today they had a tiring practice. what she doesn’t expect though is to be met with taehyung marveling at her features, staring at her as if she were even more beautiful than the stars that litter the sky above them. taehyung lets out a small yelp before he’s swiftly turning his head back towards the sky, acting as if he wasn’t just staring at her.

“kim taehyung, do you wanna explain why you were just staring at me?” she feigns anger, but when taehyung turns to look at her again he finds that she has the deepest shade of red flushing her cheeks as she brings her arms up across her chest and puffs it out a bit, attempting to be seen as intimidating. he laughs at her attempt to be angry at him before he shakes his head and turns back to the sky.

“you’re not gonna tell me?” she asks and he shakes his head again. he breaks out into a smile as she huffs out a sigh and sits up. “fine, then I guess I’m just gonna have to force the reason out of you.” she smiles now too and taehyung feels himself grow anxious at her words.

“what do you mean?” he asks and now he’s sitting up too, the both of them staring at each other, her eyes filled with mischief and his filled with slight fear.

“oh I don’t know,” she smiles again, “I might just have to tickle it out of you.” she starts to laugh maniacally as taehyung's face drops.

“I knew I would regret telling you that,” he huffs, but quickly thinks of an escape. “but you can’t tickle me if you can’t catch me!” and in the blink of an eye, he’s jumped off the blanket and begun running around the tree.

“kim taehyung if you don’t get your ass back here!” and she too has jumped off the blanket in an attempt to catch him. they spend a good while chasing each other around the tree, their breathy laughs and screams filling the air around them. at one point she ducks behind the tree whilst his back is turned, in hopes to lure him in and finally catch him.

“y/n? y/n where did you go?” she hears his voice getting closer as he looks for her, and she finally sees her chance as he stands a few feet in front of her, his back turned. she stealthily moves through the dahlias that surround the tree and stands behind him, a shouted “boo!” leaving her lips that has taehyung turning around quickly and she pounces on him. she quickly situates herself into a straddling position, after the both of them have fallen to the ground with a hard thud. she breathes heavily on top of him, raising her arms above her head in triumph. she quickly lowers them again and begins to attack taehyung’s sides, tickling him with so much intensity that he’s squirming and giggling underneath of her, his pleas to stop falling on deaf ears as she continues her attack.

“I’ll stop as soon as you tell me why you were staring at me!” she laughs and continues moving her fingers, before taehyung finally gives in and huffs out a “fine! fine! I’ll tell you!” his eyes watery from the pain of laughing so hard. her fingers finally come to a halt, bringing them up to cross them over her chest as she raises a brow at him expectantly. he feels his cheeks begin to heat up as he whispers out a quick “ you looked pretty” and then attempting to get her off of him. she refuses, however and only swats his hands away as he attempts to move her body off of his.

“nuh uh,” she shakes her head at him and he sighs, bringing his hands and running them down his face. “I didn't hear you, what did you say?” she brings a hand up and cups it around her ear, turning her head so that she can hear him better. he lets out a small giggle at her exaggeration before he states louder his statement from before. he watches as her hand drops to her lap and her face flushes of all color and for a moment he wonders if he fucked up the whole date he had planned. he quickly begins to stutter out apologies and excuses before he feels her lean down a bit, a smirk playing on her lips as she whispers “say that again.” and now it’s taehyung’s turn to blush. he falters a bit before stuttering out “I-I said you looked-” but he doesn’t get to finish his sentence because suddenly her lips are on his and he’s lost all sense of thought. he closes his eyes and quickly reciprocates the kiss, placing his hand behind her head to push their lips together tighter.

after a couple of minutes, taehyung takes a chance and deepens the kiss, tightening the grip on the back of her neck just a bit and he’s surprised when she whines against his mouth. he quickly moves to add his tongue into the kiss, making a small moan escape her mouth. it’s not long before they’re pulling apart for air and taehyung takes his time to look over her features again, admiring the way her lips look all plush and swollen from their kiss, the way she parts them slightly and breathes heavily out of them. he doesn’t miss the red resting heavily on her cheeks as she brings her hands up to cover her face in embarrassment at having made the first move. taehyung laughs before he’s reaching up at her wrists and tugging them down so he can look at her again.

“don’t cover your face, y/n. you’re so cute.” he smiles and the blush on her cheeks gets darker, if that were possible. “I had a kiss planned at the end of this date, but I think this one was much better,” he intertwines their fingers, resting them on his stomach and she gapes at him. he tilts his head and asks “what?” as she continues to look at him as if he had eight heads.

“d-did you just call this a date?” she questions and taehyung can’t help but to laugh at her again.

“yeah, why do you think I provided dinner and suggested we do something we both love to do? I wanted to make this special because, well because I really think I like you. I know we just met like a month ago but-” he’s interrupted again by her lips on his, but the kiss this time is much shorter, but still just as intense as before.

“I like you too, taehyung. I’m just glad that it’s not all in my head” she laughs and taehyung looks at her as if her laugh was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard.

“well then, you wouldn’t say no if I asked you out?” taehyung asks sheepishly and she plants one last kiss onto his lips followed by two more-one on each cheek- before she responds quietly “of course not silly.” and they both break out into huge grins. taehyung finds himself thankful for being stupid, as yoongi so graciously told him when he told them about her, and giving his number to her. if he had denied her request to exchange numbers, he wouldn’t have this, he wouldn’t have the butterflies in his stomach or the lingering feeling of her lips on his or most beautiful girl now sitting next to him and admiring the sky with him once again, surrounded by dahlias and the chilling night breeze thats kissing their exposed hands that lay intertwined between their bodies. taehyung looks over at her once more, counting his blessings for meeting the girl of his dreams.
