┃If I can’t have you.. (everything means nothing)
₊˚⊹♡ Xiao x fem reader
₊˚⊹♡ wc: 9k~
₊˚⊹♡ Prompt: Xiao finds himself falling for a human despite his better judgment, while said human is hesitant to give their heart to the sweet yaksha who saved them, in fear of becoming a burden.
₊˚⊹♡ warnings: slowburn, fluff, you’re visionless (gasp), tons of mutual pining, Zhongli acts like a parent figure to Xiao here (istg it’s so cute)
₊˚⊹♡ Pillow Talks: GUYS I AM SO PROUD OF THIS DFHUQI, I’ve been slowly writing the the last couple of weeks and I love how it turned out! I, once again, randomly got inspired when listening to a song. This time it was Shawn Mendes’ song, ‘If I Can’t Have You,’ hence the title of this work. I came to the sudden realization that the song would totally fit Xiao, and I realized it’s been a long time since I wrote something for him. I tried to make this as canon compliant as possible, as in Xiao would actually do & feel these things; I hope I did him justice! With much love, please enjoy this fic! Xoxo ♡(੭´͈ ᐜ `͈)੭
₊˚⊹♡ Masterlist
It’s an average night for the Vigilant Yaksha; Adeptus Alatus. Said adeptus is currently carrying out his duty as he watches over Liyue, defeating any man-eating monsters he happens upon.
Tonight there appears to be more of these monsters than usual, but it’s all the same to the mighty illuminated adepti.
He wastes no time in slaying said monsters, and within a moment's time they are all subdued.
At least that’s what he thought.
A sudden cry from afar immediately grabs his attention, and he wastes no time getting to the source. What he finds does not surprise him. A lone girl hesitantly backs away from a group of monsters, creating what distance she can as she inevitably becomes surrounded.
Xiao’s hand grips his spear as he readies himself to eliminate the threat in front of him. He falters when the lone girl emits a battle cry of sorts. He watches as she bends down to grab a..
A stick.
Xiao can’t help but snort at the comical sight.
This girl, all alone and surrounded by monsters, chooses a stick as her last means of survival. Almost as if the monsters can sense her foolishness as well, they emit sounds akin to laughter.
Xiao moves to help the girl, ready to save her, and yet…
He finds his feet glued to the floor when his eyes catch sight of her burning orbs.
Most people he’s happened across in these situations are full of fear as they shout for someone, anyone, to save them.
Not this girl. She straightens herself with her measly yet sturdy stick in hand before she starts to swing.
Xiao guffaws when she accurately lands a hit on one of the monsters. He’s flabbergasted when the small monster actually falls to the ground. He knows her stick won’t amount to much as a means of protection; it already looks like it’s on the verge of breaking. Despite this, she wastes no time in attacking another monster with her stick.
Xiao is rooted to the spot as he watches this girl miraculously handle herself pretty well in this situation. His sharp gaze flicks to the monster that creeps up behind her. He moves now, and in a moment’s breath he appears right behind said monster.
The girl has yet to notice the monster behind her as she swings her stick at another monster in front of her; the monster behind closes in on her from behind.
He’s relieved he’s close enough to stop the monster before it reaches her since she seems all too unaware of her surroundings.
So, imagine his surprise when the girl spins around, kicking the monster to the ground before his spear can deliver a devastating blow.
Their eyes meet, and although all she can see is his mask her expression morphs into one full of wonder and awe. That is, before she swings her stick at him.
Xiao easily catches hold of the stick, and in no time it snaps in two in his firm grasp. He ignores her attempt to hit him once more as he now focuses his attention on the remaining monsters around her.
He makes quick work in slaughtering them all. Once the task is complete he faces her. He expects her to retaliate once more. maybe attempt to hit him again.
His eyes widen in slight surprise when he’s presented with a formal bow. Her head hangs low, and her hands are pressed together as if in prayer.
“Thank you almighty adeptus!” He scoffs at her grateful exclamation. This mortal is quite the handful. He opens his mouth to speak, his face still hidden beneath his mask, when she straightens herself once more and her eyes meet his.
Any response he would’ve had dies in his throat. His mind goes blank as her wide orbs bore into his. How does she even know where his eyes are? Aren’t they hidden behind his mask?
A touch of his fingers against his cheek, not his mask, answers his own question. He must’ve been so consumed with his thoughts that he didn’t notice his mask disappear.
Speaking of said human, she now tentatively takes a step in his direction.
“Stop. Do not come any closer.” His words are harsh and prickly. He crosses his arms across his chest, and he stands firm.
The human takes the hint, but her eyes still stay on his. For some reason this flusters him, and he finally averts his gaze. The human seems to take this as an opportunity to come closer, and a noise of surprise escapes him when a warm pair of arms wrap around him.
Does this mortal have no sense of danger!?
His hands quickly grip your arms to pull you off of him, but he stops himself when he sees your expression.
Your eyelashes house unshed tears and your lips are quivering. He quickly comes to the realization that your tough exterior was just a front. Now, you’re clinging to him as loud sniffles leave you.
He’s as stiff as a board as you cling to him, but he can’t bring himself to pull you off of him. A few moments of awkward silence, save for your sniffles, pass by. Eventually he awkwardly raises his hand to pat your back.
You two stay together in this awkward embrace until you pull away. He wants to scold you and tell you to return to your residence at once, but…
He remains silent.
“Thank you. I did my best to defend myself and remain calm, but I knew there was only so much I could do. I don’t have a vision, so I was feeling pretty desperate haha.” Xiao’s taken aback by your words. How come he didn't notice that before?
He looks over your person. Sure enough, there isn’t a vision in sight. He’s.. a bit impressed by your mental fortitude. You stood your ground and put up a fight despite having no external means of help.
Honestly, he finds that very admirable of you.
“Whatever. Go home. It’s late. There are still monsters around.” The words leave him quickly, and he ushers you away.
You don’t budge despite his pushing, and you turn your head to look at him.
Archons, why do you keep gazing so deeply into his eyes?
He awkwardly coughs as he looks anywhere but in your direction. His hands on your person feel like they’re being lit aflame, so he quickly pulls them away. You turn to face him fully now, only to place a gentle hand on his arm.
He visibly jumps before his hand firmly grips your wrist. “What are you doing?” He grunts. “Can you escort me home? I’m still a bit shaken up...” You murmur the words under breath. You’re so quiet; Xiao wouldn’t have heard you if he weren’t paying such rapt attention to you.
Xiao has no inclination to help you, let alone entertain you any further. He should just disappear from sight like he usually does. You’ll surely be fine. He may have fibbed a bit earlier, there are no more monsters nearby.
His eyes reluctantly meet your orbs once more. Something about the sincerity in your gaze compels him. He finds himself heeding your request despite his better judgment, and soon he falls into stride beside you as he accompanies you home.
“This is foolish.” He mutters under his breath. “It may be to you, but I greatly appreciate your time and generosity.” He didn’t think you heard him, so he’s more than a bit startled by your sincere reply.
He remains silent for the rest of the journey. He doesn’t comment on your close proximity as you walk side by side.
He pays no mind to the occasional brush of your shoulder against his.
He doesn’t notice the way your eyes are curiously drawn to him as you two walk, or the way they rove over his form.
After what feels like a millenia you two arrive at your residence. He should leave now. He’s indulged you more than he needed to. “This is goodby-” You cut him off when you throw your arms around him in a tight, warm hug.
This is the second time you’ve done that tonight.
He hates the way his heart lurches as a result of the unexpected proximity from you.
“Thank you, really. Is there anything I can do to repay you?” Your voice is soft, mesmerizing, and your words are whispered by the shell of his ear and you continue to embrace him.
Honestly he wants you to stop hugging him so his heart can stop pounding in his chest. “You can stop hugging me… and also… stay out of harm's way.” At his request you quickly pry yourself off of him.
He abhors the disappointment he feels now that you aren’t close to him anymore. “I can do that. Thank you…” You trail off, hoping he’ll fill in the blank for you with his name.
This has gone on long enough.
He turns now so his back faces you. He remains silent as he disappears.
You feel a bit disappointed that he didn’t reply, but you’re grateful to him nevertheless.
Little did the both of you know, this encounter was only the beginning of something more.
𓆩♡𓆪
“I thought I told you to stay out of harm's way?” His gruff tone makes you giddy as he holds you in his arms, out of reach from the swarm of monsters.
You truly didn’t expect to see the adeptus that saved you that fateful night ever again, yet here he is.
“I did my best to follow your advice! I just.. Have a bit of a knack for finding myself in crazy situations.” You sound sheepish as you laugh it off, but the yaksha holding you sounds anything but amused.
“You mortals are always such a handful..” He quickly sets you down in a safe area before he gets to work defeating the monsters in front of you.
You cheer him on as if you were his personal cheerleader, and you swear you see the tips of his ears redden.
In no time at all the threat before you vanishes, and the adeptus stands tall in the midst of the aftermath.
Well, as tall as he possibly can. He is quite short after all.
The thought brings a cheeky smile to your lips. The adeptus notices your expression, and a familiar frown presents itself on his pretty features.
“Are you sure you aren’t actively putting yourself in these situations?” He interrogates you. “No! I promise. I really could do without the added stress to my already busy life.” You smile as you make your way over to him.
He doesn’t stop you. He’s clearly contemplating your words.
You don’t blame him. This is your fourth encounter after all. The previous two encounters consisted of him saving you from monsters as well.
Unfortunately he hasn’t walked you home since your last encounter, or told you his name, but you’re determined to learn that information tonight.
“So, mighty adeptus, will you please do me the honor of-” “You can find your own way home. I know you don’t live far from here.” He turns away from you, his telltale sign that he’s about to disappear.
“No, please wait!” You grimace at the desperation in your voice. You notice him flinch slightly at your words.
Surprisingly, he doesn’t leave.
You close the distance between the two of you, and you wrap your arms around him from behind in a hug.
He sighs, a sound you’ve grown quite used to hearing from him. “You are one troublesome human…” He grumbles under his breath. Despite his harsh words he makes no attempt to move away from you. You enjoy this moment as you close your eyes and hold him.
You smile to yourself since he lets you.
“Please escort me home tonight? I’m still figuring out the best way to repay you for saving me so many times; It’s only right that I do something in return.” You fear your words won’t be enough to convince him.
Your fears are promptly quelled. He regretfully moves away from you, but he begins to walk in the direction of your home.
The smile that lights up your face is radiant.
You easily fall into step beside him.
The night air is chilly. You rub your arms with your hands to generate a bit of warmth as you rack your brain for a suitable topic of conversation. From your few encounters with the adeptus you can tell he isn’t the most social individual.
Even so, nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.
“Is there really no way I can repay you?” You decide to be blunt and cut to the chase. You’re rewarded by a startled snort. The sound is strangely cute coming from him.
Your head whips in his direction, but his face remains stoic as if he made no sound at all. “If I say there is something you can do, will you stop pestering me?” He grumbles. Your eyes shine with delight at the prospect of doing something for the kind individual beside you.
“Yes, please!” You encourage him.  He hums in contemplation before he goes silent once more. You pout as the comforting sight of your abode enters your line of vision.
Once you’re standing in front of your door you turn around to wish the adeptus a monsterless rest of his night. Just as your lips part to say your farewells, he speaks. “You can make a dish of almond tofu. Bring it here tomorrow. After that, your debt will have been repaid. Now go to sleep. It’s late.” With those brisk words, he turns and leaves.
He doesn’t completely disappear on you this time, and the delusional part of you believes it’s progress. Unfortunately you still didn’t catch his name, but you’ve made progress in a different sense!
Too bad you don’t have the slightest idea how to make almond tofu…
𓆩♡𓆪
“I’ve been up since early this morning, scouring multiple sources, and said sources have all referred me to you! So please, pleasseee teach me how you make almond tofu!” You’re on your knees in front of the chef of Wangshu Inn, pathetically begging him to teach you his wonderful ways.
Not too far behind you stands Verr Goldet, hunched over and clutching her sides in laughter. The chef takes one look at the sight of you in front of him before a deep, heavy sigh leaves his lips.
“I just can’t catch a break here, huh..?” Those are the only words you hear from him before you're hoisted on your feet and put to work.
Hours full of failed dishes and disgruntled sighs pass by. At one point the chef looked ready to cry, but hey, everything worked out!
Of course by the time you finally manage to make a successful dish of Almond Tofu it’s late into the night. You bestow your thanks upon the chef, but all he does is shake his head as he shoos you away. He may be far off in his assumptions, but he has an idea of who the intended recipient of that dish is.
You carefully wrap the dish in a pretty carry on before you begin to set off in the direction of your home.
Before you’re able to get far a familiar voice stops you. “Wait! Y/n, was it? Head up to the highest floor of the Inn before you go. It’ll save you a lot of time.” Verr’s words confuse you, but you’d be a fool to deny her request. She was the one who told you to seek out the chef after all. So with a firm nod you quickly make your way to the place she insisted you visit before your departure.
Once you get up there, the ephemeral sight of the full moon greets you. The little balcony is empty. It’s quite a beautiful sight, but you’re still a bit lost. Why did the boss want you to come up here?
You turn to leave since you’re eager to get home and present to the adeptus your hard work. You manage to take only a single step before a hand on your arm stops you. “Where do you think you’re going so late into the night?” You shriek and jump a mile into the air.
Wait, that voice. It can’t be…
Yet sure enough when you turn around the adeptus is there, glowering at you. “Did you make the almond tofu?” You want to scold him for his blunt question. Instead you hold your tongue as you shove the food into his hands.
He’s startled as he scrambles to hold the food properly. “You fool! What if I dropped all your hard work onto the floor?” He scowls deeply, but his words make your heart pound. “How do you know that I worked hard to make this?” You breathe.
His cheeks warm considerably; a light pink hue makes itself visible on his cheeks. The moonlight casts an ethereal glow on his person.
“It’s obvious.. with.. how well it’s presented.” His soft words are surprisingly sweet. You find yourself swooning as he unwraps the food you delicately packed for him. He moves closer to the edge of the balcony before he plops himself down with your dish of Almond Tofu.
You slowly make your way over to him before you sit down comfortably beside him.
A stupid smile stretches your cheeks when your knee bumps against his.
You watch attentively as he slowly takes his first bite. He closes his eyes as he savors the taste. He remains eerily still which causes your heart to drop to your stomach. Did you mess up the recipe again? But the chef sampled it and he said it was the best patch of Almond Tofu you’ve managed to make all day! You tried it too, and it tasted pretty good! You hope the adeptus doesn’t take this as an insult.
Wait- were you supposed to properly make an offering of the Almond Tofu to the adeptus, like, in a traditional sense?
Your spiraling, anxious thoughts are stopped in their tracks when he eagerly takes another bite. Two bites turn into three, and soon the plate is wiped clean.
You’re stunned. You watch in awe as he gracefully sets the plate down at his side before turning to you. “It was okay.” You blink. Glance over at the empty plate again. Look at his deadpan expression.
It takes a moment for the giggles to build, but soon you’re full on laughing as you clutch your stomach, similar to Verr Goldet earlier in the day.
The adeptus huffs in faux annoyance as you laugh. Unbeknownst to you, a small smile is on his lips.
“You don’t need to meet me anymore now. Go home earlier, okay?” His words make your laughter come to an abrupt halt. “Huh?” You splutter out in a confused daze. He says nothing as he moves to stand up.
You clutch his arm.
He takes one look at the expression on your face before he sits down. “Please don’t do that. I mean, I understand if you don’t want to see me anymore. I’m sure I’m just another ‘silly mortal’ to you, and I know you have your own burdens and duties to attend to…” His breath hitches at your words. You wish you could delve deeper into that, but unfortunately you don’t know him well enough. Hell, you don’t even know his name.
“I understand, truly.. But..” You turn to face him. Your knee bumps against his once more, but you pay the electrifying tingles no mind as you gently grasp his hands. He sucks in a breath. You expect him to wrench his hands away, but he doesn’t. Whatever the reason is, you won’t waste this chance.
“I want to get to know you better. Maybe it’s simple curiosity.. Maybe it’s something more..” You subtly imply, “But I want to keep seeing you. On your time, of course. Please…” You’d say his name, but you don’t know it.
You squeeze his hands before your eyes seal themselves shut in anticipation of his rejection. He has no reason to accept. You feel like the fool that you surely are, for even suggesting that he’d want to spend more time with- “Xiao. Adeptus Xiao.”
Your eyes shoot open, and your mouth parts in shock. “Stay at the Inn tonight. I’ll speak to Verr Goldet for you. Get some sleep.” His eyes move down to your hands, still gently gripping his, and the faint color on his cheeks deepen its shade.
He averts his eyes, looking down at his shoes before they trail over to the moon, back down to his shoes.
You find his embarrassment to be absolutely adorable.
You thank the archons for their generosity as you finally let go of his hands. You swear you see a smile on his lips before it disappears just as fast as it appeared.
He stands, offering you his hand to take. You gleefully take it and he hoists you up on your feet. “Have a goodnight…” He trails off expectantly.
Huh? Why is he looking at you like that?
“Your name.” He prompts.
Oh.
Wait.
Your cheeks warm to a dangerous degree as your hand flies to your mouth. You’ve wanted to know his name so badly, you focused so much on it. So much so that you forgot you never told him your own name!
“Y/n.” You whisper, your feelings of embarrassment blatant in your voice.
Xiao smirks at your reaction. “I see. Goodnight, Y/n.”
Then he’s gone.
You take a few minutes to cool down and quell your embarrassment before you go down to talk to Verr. Somehow, she has a room available. You gratefully take the room she offers. She tells you it’s on the house, and no matter how much you insist on paying she refuses to take payment.
Aw well, you’ll leave a generous tip in the room before you leave.
A yawn escapes your lips as your eyes fall shut. As you drift off to sleep, images of the short adeptus- Xiao- occupy your every thought.
Meanwhile, in another location, said adeptus continues to whisper your name into the wind.
Y/n.
Y/n.
Y/n…
....
Huh.
He likes the way your name sounds on his tongue.
𓆩♡𓆪
His heart throbs, and his throat feels dry.
His eyes roam over your figure before he quickly turns around, staring off into the distance. Why does he feel so.. Embarrassed? No, that’s not the right word. It’s more like..
You move to stand a bit closer to him, to make space for the person passing the two of you. The hairs on the back of his neck stand on end; he’s acutely aware of your presence.
Ah, self conscious. That’s the word he was looking for.
He can not wrap his head around these newfound feelings he’s having around you. He only told you his name last night, nothing more. Why is he acting like it’s such a big deal to him?
When you move away to create a bit of distance between the two of you he feels oddly disappointed.
Maybe he’s feeling this way because to him, telling you his name and giving you his time is a big deal, whether he’ll admit it to himself or not.
He’s not particularly fond of spending his time with humans. Well, he wouldn’t mind learning more about human culture if it weren’t for his karmic debt.
Speaking of, you seem none the wiser as you two embark on a leisurely stroll. The sun is high in the sky, a stark contrast to the full moon that witnessed the fateful exchange of your names.
Ah, there he goes again.
He scolds himself for thinking of that encounter again. He spent all night thinking of you, enjoying the way your name rolled off his tongue with ease. Even as he fought a few monsters, his thoughts kept drifting to you.
He starts to break out in a cold sweat as he continues to think of you, even as you’re standing right beside him.
Will he be able to perform his duties appropriately? How will he, when’s he’s thinking about you constantly like a lovesick-
Woah.
Where did that word come from? He doesn’t even know you like that.
Xiao’s cheeks redden from his thoughts. He pushes the thought out of his head, refusing to entertain the silly idea any further.
“Thanks for walking me back… even though it’s broad daylight.” You tease. Xiao jerks a bit at your teasing. Why does that lit in your voice sound so alluring to him?
Xiao. Stop.
“It’s nothing. The threat of monsters linger, no matter the hour of the day.” He mentally pats himself on the back for that smooth explanation. He sees the way you nod your head in agreement, but more importantly his eyes zero in on the small upturn of the corner of your lips.
When he catches himself his eyes quickly tear away from you. He awkwardly coughs into his fist before he looks down at the ground.
Is he.. Sick? Why is his heart beating so fast when all he’s doing is walking beside you? Maybe he should ask Zhongli if-
“Earth to Xiao?” You’re in front of him now, your face dangerously close to his as you wave a hand in front of his face.
Oh, Archons.
He abruptly stops walking, and it takes everything in him to avoid leaning further into you.
“Uh, ye- AHEM… yes?” Oh dear. His face burns at the slight crack in his voice. He silently hopes you didn’t catch it.
You most definitely did, but you won’t tell him that.
“Are you alright? It seems like you’ve been zoning out..” Your kind eyes look over him. His palms sweat as he racks his brain for a quick, sensible justification for his wandering thoughts.
“I was.. Just thinking about..” His eyes move every which way as he tries to come up with a new topic of conversation to distract you. He catches sight of a group of fishermen a few feet away, chatting happily amongst themselves as they wait for their lines to lure in their catch.
Ah, perfect.
“What are your hobbies?” You blink owlishly at him before you take a step back.
He releases a breath he didn’t realize he was holding.
“My hobbies? Hm… let’s see..” You resume your position beside Xiao as you begin to delve into your pastimes. You unintentionally talk his ear off, but he’s grateful for it. This way, you forget about his rare moment of absent mindedness and he gets to learn more about you.
He doesn’t delve further into why he wants to learn more about you.
“So there you have it. What about you? I’m sure you’re busy, but I find it hard to believe even the adepti don’t have ways to unwind.” Your question is thought provoking, and honestly a bit insightful.
“This may disappoint you, but not all the adepti have the leisure to indulge in moments of frivolity.” He leaves it at that. In another instance, he may have commended you for your bold question and challenged you to a duel of sorts, but you don’t have a vision and you’re not a renowned traveler.
“Ah, I see. Well then, care to indulge me?” Xiao looks at you with a questioning stare, but you don’t elaborate. At this point in your journey the both of you are close to your abode, as well as Liyue Harbor.
You suddenly grasp his hand as you take off in a jog towards what he assumes is Liyue Harbor. Xiao splutters as he effortlessly keeps pace with you.
“Mortal- I- Y/n- What are you…” The rest of the question leaves his lips in a gasp when you turn to face him, an ethereal smile on your lips.
He’s quiet the rest of the way as he allows you to drag him to Liyue Harbor.
Oh, Zhongli.
This human is nothing but trouble.
𓆩♡𓆪
Xiao finds himself being dragged around Liyue Harbor all day, engaging in various activities with you.
Xiao knows the entirety of Liyue like the back of his hand. He doesn’t need a map; he’ll know any location in Liyue based on a vague description alone.
Yet here you are, bringing him around Liyue Harbor as you force him to encourage him to participate in activities with you and the other citizens of Liyue Harbor.
“Hey, Xiao. Do you like kites?” Your delighted voice drifts through the wind until it reaches his ears. “Hmph. I have no need for such a thing.” Is his stern reply. You seem to anticipate said response since all you do is playfully roll your eyes.
“Mhm. Well lucky for you, I got you one! Ta-da!” You swivel around with a newly purchased kite in hand. Xiao audibly sighs. You wish farewell to the kind old lady selling kites before you two head off once more.
Xiao foresees the way you gleefully fall into step beside him as you walk side by side. Xiao even anticipates the way you subtly sneak the kite into his open hand. What Xiao doesn’t expect is to see Iron Tongue Tian narrating a story to Zhongli.
He freezes.
His feet stop moving forward as he’s rooted to the spot. His thoughts spiral as his mind scrambles for what to do. Should he approach him? It’d be rude not to, but then he’ll know about you. Well, not like it matters. You’re just another human to him and-
“Oh, I love Iron Tongue Tian. He tells the best stories. Come, let’s listen!” Before Xiao’s mind can catch up with his actions, he’s being gently pulled along to sit at the same table as Zhongli.
Oh boy.
Zhongli immediately catches his eye. Xiao almost hates the subtle recognition in his eyes, accompanied by what Xiao discerns to be bewilderment.
He knows Zhongli won’t let him talk his way out of this.
Xiao chooses to sit down between the two of you, as a mediator of sorts. Iron Tongue Tian is currently telling a story, so surely-
“That concludes my story. Fret not, I have come prepared with another story to tell. Please give me a moment of respite as I prepare the scene for my next narration.”
Archons, Why?
Xiao is nonplussed to see the subtle upturn of Zhongli’s lips.
“Ah, Xiao. It’s rare to see you in this setting. Who is this young lady accompanying you? Please, spare no details.” Xiao swears he can feel the lone drop of sweat that travels down his face.
“Mo-.. Zhongli… this is.. Y/n.” Xiao internally berates himself for the breathless way your name leaves his lips. If Zhongli wasn’t curious already, he certainly is now.
“Ah, Y/n is it? A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I go by the name of Zhongli.” Zhongli smiles in your direction as he introduces himself. Xiao turns to gauge your reaction; He doesn’t expect the familiar smile on your lips, or the knowing twinkle in your eye.
Why are you smiling at Zhongli like that?
He feels conflicted.
“I know who you are, Mr. Zhongli. I’ve seen you sitting here, listening to Iron Tongue Tian’s stories many times. It’s nice to meet you.” You reach over, extending your hand for something.
Before Xiao can ask what you need assistance with, Zhongli’s hand grasps yours. You both exchange a gentle shake between the two of you before you retract your hand.
Oh, you were shaking Zhongli’s hand.
He wishes you would shake his, too.
“What a delightful young lady. Tell me, what brings you here? How did you manage to accompany Xiao here, of all individuals?” Xiao hears the underlying tease in Zhongli’s words. He turns his head to face Zhongli once more. A small pout forms on Xiao’s lips, and a small shake of his head signals Xiao’s displeasure of Zhongli’s teasing.
You, none the wiser, happily sit beside Xiao as you hum a tune to yourself. Zhongli leans down to whisper to Xiao, “It’s rare to see you interacting with the citizens of Liyue, yet alone to be accompanied by another party. Especially a human. The last individual I saw you spend your time with was the traveler. What is the occasion for this meeting? Did you orchestrate this? Do you feel comfortable?” Zhongli’s incessant questions only give Xiao a headache.
“I’m fine. There’s no need to concern yourself.” Is his gruff, short answer. Zhongli has become an expert at reading between the lines when it comes to Xiao. Based on Xiao’s body language and tone of voice, Zhongli deduced that nothing of immediate concern was occurring. If anything, Zhongli suspected something else to be at play.
Something he would wholeheartedly support, depending on the type of person he determines you to be.
“So, Y/n. Would you care to tell me more about yourself?” Zhongli elegantly picks up the tea resting on the table in front of him. As he softly blows against the cup, Xiao’s attention is brought back to you.
He watches the way your facial muscles twitch as you open and close your mouth. It’s clear you’re not exactly sure how to respond. Xiao’s patient as he waits for your response, enjoying the telltale sign of nerves you express, as your leg bounces up and down under the table.
“Sure, what would you like to know? My hobbies? My favorite food?” You fill the comfortable silence with a tentative question. “All of that and more, if you will.” Xiao’s a bit taken aback by Zhongli’s forward statement, but you don’t miss a beat. “Okay, sure.”
Many hours pass as you soon fall into easy conversation with Zhongli. Xiao occasionally contributes with your insistence, but overall you and Zhongli engage in pleasant conversation between Iron Tongue Tian’s stories.
Xiao would never admit this, but he’s pleased by this turn of events.
Zhongli is evidently intrigued by you as you two converse, and you’re eager to listen to his wisdom. By the time you two wrap up your long winded conversation, the sun is setting. The sky is a beautiful blend of purples, pinks, and orange hues.
“It seems to have gotten quite late. I’ve immensely enjoyed our conversation Y/n, but I must head off. I hope to see you again soon, friend. Also, it was a pleasure to see you again, Xiao. ” With that Zhongli slowly stands to take his leave.
Wait, friend?
Zhongli referred to you as a friend!
Xiao feels an odd sense of elation. If Zhongli has referred to you in that way, that means Zhongli approves of you as an individual.
Xiao abruptly stands up after Zhongli as he sends a pointed look his way. He hopes Zhongli takes the hint.
“Ah, I see. My apologies Y/n, but I must speak to Xiao privately about a certain matter. Please wait here for his return.” You happily nod as you shoo Xiao off to go talk to Zhongli in private.
Xiao’s cheeks burn for a reason unknown.
He follows Zhongli to a quiet corner. Before Zhongli can speak Xiao’s words burst out of him like a waterfall, unable to be held back. “Zhongli, what do you think of that human? Did they annoy you? Do you approve of them? I recently got to know them after saving them from a group of monsters. Through my many encounters with them, my physical symptoms seem to worsen. My heart pounds, my palms feel sweaty, and I find myself compelled to seek their eyes whenever they speak. Is there something wrong with me Zhongli? Do I need medicine?” Xiao’s words leave him so quickly, so fast, he’s sure Zhongli thinks of him as a nutcase.
Xiao would typically refrain from expressing such concerns to Zhongli. He’d rather shoulder his own burdens and have Zhongli remain none the wiser, but this is something new, Xiao’s never felt these things before. He’s a bit worried, to be quite frank. He knows this isn’t normal since he doesn’t feel this way when he’s around the Traveler or Paimon. Is it something you’re doing? Is-
“Hahah!” Xiao’s thoughts come to an abrupt halt.
Xiao’s eyes widen a fraction as he watches Zhongli’s eyes crinkle with mirth.
It takes a few moments before Zhongli is able to collect himself, but once he does he places a firm, reassuring hand on Xiao’s shoulder.
“Young adeptus, please keep the former word in mind. You are young, and there are many  thoughts, experiences, and feelings this world has to offer that you have yet to experience. What you’re feeling right now is normal. It does not matter whether I approve of them or not, as what ultimately concerns me is whether you feel happy around them. If you must know, I find them pleasant to be around, albeit from this brief interaction. None can speak for future events yet to unfold, but I believe you should exercise patience as you navigate this new experience. Don’t fret, my young adeptus. You are doing just fine.”
Xiao releases a deep breath. It feels as if an invisible weight was lifted off his shoulders.
Oh, maybe it was Zhongli’s hand.
Xiao notices Zhongli has retracted his hand, and now he stands before Xiao tall and proud.
“It pleases me to see you engaging with others more. Take care. I shall see you again.” Zhongli’s words feel like a warm hug from a loving, doting parent.
All Xiao can do is watch as Zhongli walks away, looking as refined as he does composed.
Xiao takes this opportunity to close his eyes and center himself. He recalls Zhongli’s words as he takes them to heart.
Xiao takes a deep inhale through his nostrils, and out once more. Zhongli’s right. He’s doing just fine. Despite his better judgment, he’s savored each and every interaction between the two of you. He really should keep his distance, as per his karmic debt, but..
For some reason, the thought of being away from you makes his chest feel tight.
How odd.
Xiao decides you’ve waited long enough. He turns, opening his eyes to return to your side. As he slowly approaches you, waiting patiently at the table, you happen to turn around.
Your eyes lock with his, and a slow smile spreads across your face. Your hand is propped to allow your head to rest upon it, and your eyes twinkle and shine with delight.
His chest feels tight once again, but this time it feels good.
𓆩♡𓆪
Xiao has noticed an obvious change in your behavior; it began after you met Zhongli.
It’s not a bad change per se, but he doesn’t know the meaning behind your actions and sweet words.
It makes him a bit flustered in all honesty.
This scenario is just one of many that he’s had to endure this week alone.
"Stay with me tonight. Please." Goosebumps rise along Xiao’s arm as your whispered words caress the shell of his ear.
“You know I can’t do that.” He retorts. His words are firm and strict, as he moves to put some distance between the two of you.
This is the first time he’s been in your abode, the one he often accompanies you to, and now you want him to stay. He stifles a groan when your arm wraps around his, effectively keeping him where you want him.
He made the mistake of accepting your offer to come inside. He’s not someone who typically indulges such requests from others, but with you, he’s found himself doing things he would never do for another.
You successfully lured him to your room, claiming you need his help with something that only he could assist you with, and now you’re trying to fall asleep with him by your side.
Xiao swears it’s not happening.
"I'll keep you warm."
Okay, maybe a few minutes wouldn’t hurt.
“Fine, but I’ll only stay until you fall asleep.” Your eyes widen in shock at his acceptance of your proposal. Your soft lips part as your hands squeeze his arm-
Get a hold of yourself.
Xiao scolds himself at his inappropriate, wandering thoughts. Why is he focusing on how soft your lips are? Or the way they curl up into a cheeky grin as you pull him down beside you? Or-
He awkwardly coughs into his fist as he averts his gaze.
You act all too familiar with him as you snuggle up beside him, resting your head on his shoulder.
Archons, his heart is pounding.
“Did I say you could do that?” He grumbles. You only giggle in reply, pressing yourself further into him.
His Adam's apple bops as he swallows any further complaints.
Xiao peers intently at your face, and he notices the faint bags under your eyes.
Ah, no wonder you’re acting so familiar with him.
Xiao picked up on a cute habit of yours, whenever you’re sleepy you act more familiar with him. You also tend to voice things he believes you hold back in fear of making him uncomfortable.
"You feel like home."
Ah, except he secretly wishes you’d say things like this to him all the time,
His cheeks warm at your whispered confession. “D-Don’t be ridiculous…” He spits the words out, false contempt within them, but you only release a blissful sigh as you relax against him.
He finds himself at a loss for words as you slowly drift off to sleep.
He hesitantly raises his hand to place it upon your head, fingers mere centimeters from your hair, before he stops himself.
Honestly, what is he doing?
As an adeptus, he shouldn’t indulge in these things. He has a duty to carry out, and his karmic debt could cause you harm at a moment’s notice.
With such sobering thoughts in mind, he quickly retracts his hand.
He sighs, slowly removing yourself from his person. For some reason the thought of leaving you causes his chest to constrict. He clutches his chest where his heart lay beneath.
Why does he feel this way?
With a huff he turns to leave, before he spots sheets of paper on a desk in your room.
Curiosity piqued his interest, but he refuses to invade your privacy. A blank sheet of paper catches his attention, so he makes his way over.
Deftly, he grabs a writing utensil before scribbling a message to you in neat script.
He leaves the note on your pillow where his head previously lay, before he vanishes in thin air.
His thoughts wander back to your sleeping figure for the rest of the night, and an unfamiliar warmth blossoms in his chest.

𓆩♡𓆪
You awake the next morning, content after finally getting a good night’s rest. You stretch, and something crinkles by your ear.
You look for the source, and a small piece of paper catches your eye.
When you gently lift the paper to read it’s contents, the words bring back a rush of memories from the night before.
When you were being overly clingy with Xiao.
Your entire body burns as you force yourself to read his note. You hope he doesn’t hate you! Gosh, you hope you didn’t make him uncomfortable…
Your worries are quelled when you read his words.
When you are in mortal danger, call out my name. Adeptus Xiao. I will always be here when you call.
Your lips form a goofy smile as you re-read his words over and over again. “Adeptus Xiao…” You murmur his name under your breath, only to cry with a shout when he suddenly appears before you.
“You called?”
“Uhhh..” Your cheeky smile is enough to clue Xiao in; you had accidentally called his name.
He expresses his annoyance with a cross of his arms and a twitch of his eyebrow, yet the corner of his lips twitch upwards as well. You don’t focus on the implications of that since he’s already scolding you, “I’m certain that I wrote, ‘When you are in mortal danger,’ did I not?” A nervous giggle escapes your lips, and once again the corner of his mouth twitches.
“I.. I’m sorry Xiao. Your name just kinda slipped out when I was thinking about you…” Your face flushes with warmth as you glance every which way to avoid looking at his face.
You hear footsteps approach you, and it only heightens your nerves. “Relax. I’m not upset.” His fingers gently lift your chin, forcing you to look at him. His bright amber eyes peer deeply into your orbs.
It takes every ounce of strength in you not to lean into his touch.
“Y/n…” Your eyes flutter close when your whispered name escapes his lips, flowing into your ears like a whispered confession of love.
“Xiao…” Your eyes open once more when his fingers are suddenly gone.
He’s standing on the opposite end of the room, looking a bit uncomfortable now. You’re a bit confused, but you figure it’s nothing personal.
“Xiao, can you meet me at Wangshu Inn tonight? The same place we met when you tried the Almond Tofu I made you?” Your abrupt suggestion catches Xiao off guard. You’re surprised by your own outburst, quite frankly.
You just want to see him again.
“I.. okay. Same time. Don’t be late.” He forces the words out before he vanishes before your eyes.
Yet a smile remains on your lips as you stare at the space he once occupied.
𓆩♡𓆪
You’ve spent a lot of time thinking before you left for Wangshu Inn. Why did you ask to meet up with him today? Why have you gone out of your way to be close to him?
Well, it didn’t take an Archon to figure out the reason behind your actions.
So, with a firm resolve, you’ve decided you won’t tell Xiao how you feel. You highly doubt an adeptus has time for a relationship, yet alone can harbor romantic feelings for a mere mortal like yourself. You think you’re a pretty cool person, but you also don’t want to be a burden to him.
The last thing you’d want to do is make Xiao uncomfortable and destroy this wonderful relationship you’ve developed with him. You’re wise enough to know Xiao doesn’t form friendships easily, let alone dedicating time to people like has with you.
So, with your renowned resolve you make your way to Wangshu Inn, intending to spend quality time with Xiao.
As you make your way up the steps, your eyes light up when you see Xiao already waiting for you. He’s standing with his back to you, his face tilted towards the sky. Your heart squeezes in your chest, you want nothing more than to tell him how you really feel, but you’d hate it if it ruined everything…
Almost as if Xiao can hear your racing thoughts, he turns around. “Why are you just standing there?” You jump slightly, quickly making your way over to stand beside him. “Sorry…” You murmur.
Xiao says nothing, turning back to look up at the sky. “Y/n… this isn’t easy for me to do but… I need to be honest with you.” Your heart races when his words reach your ears. You turn, staring intently at his face. He doesn’t turn to look at you, opting to continue staring at the night sky littered with stars.
Said stars twinkle in anticipation as your conversation unfolds.
“I think it’d be best if I… wasn’t around you so often. My karmic debt isn’t something to be taken lightly, and…” The rest of his words are muffled as your face flushes with intense heat; your ears ring and your world temporarily spins on it’s axis.
You don’t even notice when Xiao gently shakes your shoulders, before he’s shouting your name in panic.
“Y/n!” His voice snaps you out of whatever daze you were in. Your vision clears and suddenly his amber eyes are oh so close to your face.
Your breath hitches.
Is he trying to leave you? …
Honestly, you wanted to keep your feelings buried deep inside, but you won’t let him leave you behind without a fight. With no hesitation you firmly place both of your hands on his cheeks, holding his face in place.
A radiant blush presents itself on his face, but you refuse to acknowledge it if only to tell him the words you desperately need him to hear.
“Xiao, I didn’t plan on telling you this because I’d hate to be a burden to you. You’re an adeptus and I’m a human. You have a longer lifespan than I do, and I honestly would hate to drag you down or give you more problems than you already have, but…” You take a deep breath to slow the rapid beat of your heart.
Emotion swirls in Xiao’s eyes, but you refuse to let go of him as you continue on.
“Even so, I don’t want you to distance yourself from me! These past few weeks have been so much fun, and I’ve been so happy. You know why? Because you were there with me, Xiao.” You hear his sharp intake of breath at your words, but he looks down at your shoes.
His hands place themselves over yours, trying to remove your hands from his face. “I’ve heard enough Y/n, you don’t understand-” “No, you don’t understand!” Your loud exclamation startles the both of you.
Xiao freezes, but he stops trying to pry your hands away from his face. Instead, he closes his eyes, nodding his head to prompt you to continue.
You cough awkwardly, a habit you seemed to pick up from Xiao.
“S-Sorry..” The words quietly leave your lips, but Xiao’s quick to dispel your worries. “Nonsense. Continue speaking.” So, you do.
“I know you’re worried about your.. Karmic debt will result in me being hurt, but.. Honestly Xiao, you may not see it yourself but you have such a kind soul. You continue to fight monsters, watching over Liyue no matter how hard you have to push yourself. I remember the other night, when it seemed the wave of monsters were endless, you still kept fighting not only to protect me, but to protect everyone in Liyue. If by chance something does occur, I promise you we can figure it out when that happens. Xiao, you deserve happiness too. I don’t want to assume being with me makes you happy, but if those little twitches your mouth did earlier are any indication, then you shouldn’t distance yourself from me and cut off our connection before any relationship can even begin.” At your words, his eyebrows furrow and he visibly starts breathing faster.
His eyes slowly pry themselves open, and the pain you see swirling in the depths of his irises makes your heart lurch in empathy.
His lip trembles, and with a steady hand your thumb slowly swipes across his lower lip.
He exhales at your touch, visibly shivering. He’s silent, his brain clearly trying to think of something to say.
You patiently wait for him to collect his thoughts. In the meantime, you admire the teal undertones of his dark hair, tugging lightly on his hair.
You hesitate to do more, but he seems to appreciate your gentle touch. His eyes close once more, so you lean in, pressing soft kisses along his jaw.
He trembles, eyes snapping open, and he moves back to remove himself from your touch.
“These hands have slayed many, you’d be wise to stay away.” The words almost sound foreign coming out of his mouth, and he appears unsure of himself. You get the feeling he’s giving you every opportunity to back out, if only for your protection.
You huff, a soft laugh leaving your lips; it appears the both of you were suppressing your own feelings in hopes of preserving the others’.
“Hm? These hands?” You allow him to remove his face from your touch, but you slowly reach down to grasp his hands.
Some irresponsible, foolhardy part of himself allows you to.
You unhurriedly lift his hands to your lips. Said lips brush along his knuckles, placing well meaning kisses against each one.
He remains silent, but makes no move to pull away.
You smile to yourself, moving to stand closer to him.
He stands in front of you, stiff as a board.
“Do you mind if I touch you, Xiao?” His eyes are teeming with emotion. He gazes deeply into your own, before he slowly nods his consent. “I need to hear you say it, sweetheart.”
That gets a reaction out of him.
Dark cheeks accompany his hurried, “Go ahead.” You press your body to his, placing a tender kiss to the place between his neck and shoulder.
You continue to press kisses along his body in hopes that your actions get your feelings across to him.
Your eyes trail along his body, fingers applying slight pressure below his stomach as they outline his waist. He swallows thickly, mentally telling himself to remove himself from your addicting touch.
Despite his intentions to move away, he’s enraptured; rooted to the spot as your loving touches bring life to his dormant heart.
You suddenly lower yourself, and Xiao swears his heart jumps in his throat when you press a kiss to his hip bone, over the fabric of his clothes. “That’s enough!” His words are harsh, and he roughly lifts you up by your arm, only to pull you in by the waist.
Now your body is pressed firmly against his.
You can feel just how fast his heart is beating, and you’re sure he can feel your speedy heart pace too.
No words are exchanged as you raptly stare into each other’s eyes. Neither of you comment on the lack of distance between the two of you, and you surely don’t object when your lips are soon mere millimeters apart.
Soon, they aren’t apart any more.
The two of you simultaneously groan when your lips press against each other. It’s an innocent kiss, full of emotion. Your arms wrap around his neck as his hands on your waist pull you impossibly closer to him.
It feels like an eternity passes before you pull apart.
As you stare at each other in silence once more, you feel a lopsided smile on your face. Xiao’s cheeks are painted a beautiful shade of pink as his amber eyes zero in on your lips.
Surprisingly, Xiao is the first to break the silence.
"Sorry, that was my first kiss."
You giggle.
"I could tell."
"...."
"I'm kidding!"
He rolls his eyes as you burst into a fit of giggles. He figures the only way to shut you up is to kiss you again.
So he does; eagerly.

“Zhongli, do you remember Y/n?” Xiao now sits across from Zhongli, as Iron Tongue Tian prepares to share a scene from his new narration.
“Of course I do. It’d be hard to forget a human who has formed such a strong connection with you, Xiao.” Zhongli’s words hint at an underlying meaning, and it makes Xiao bristle.
Zhongli only laughs; he’s fond of teasing Xiao.
“What about them, Xiao? Have you found answers to your previous questions?” Zhongli leans forward, giving Xiao all of his attention as he patiently waits for his response.
Xiao hesitates before giving a slow, deliberate nod of his head. Zhongli’s eyes crease with glee as Xiao’s mouth forms a sweet smile.
“Yes. I have.” Xiao’s simple response earns a hum from Zhongli. “And what is your final answer?” Zhongli leans back as he studies Xiao.
He notices the way Xiao shifts his weight in his seat, and how he fails to hide his shaky hands underneath the table. “My final answer is that I..” Xiao glances up at Zhongli, but all he finds is patience within those amber eyes.
Xiao takes a deep breath before he willingly admits, “I have grown quite fond of this human, and it appears they share similar feelings for me.” Xiao waits with bated breath for Zhongli’s response.
Zhongli closes his eyes as he digests Xiao’s words, yet he can’t contain his smile.
“I see. Do you feel happy when you’re with them?” Zhongli’s question confuses Xiao, and a tilt of his head displays that. “Of course I do. Otherwise, I wouldn’t spend so much time with them.” It appears Xiao doesn’t recall Zhongli’s previous words from their earlier conversation, but that is quite alright with him.
“Then that is all that matters. I am happy for you, Xiao.” Zhongli opens his eyes, leaning across the table to gently grasp Xiao’s hands in his. He gives it a squeeze, before he pulls away. The action visibly flusters Xiao, clearly embarrassed.
“Zhongli…” Xiao groans. Zhongli beams, blithely expressing his delight as he laughs without constraint.
“Ah, there you are.” Xiao immediately turns around at the sound of your voice, and a twinkle Zhongli has never seen before presents itself within his eyes.
That’s all the confirmation he needed.
With a small smile, Zhongli stands. He shares a brief greeting with you before he looks at Xiao once more. Xiao stares at him with a neutral expression, before it slowly morphs into a shy grin.
Zhongli turns to leave without another word, whistling a tune under his breath.
Ah.
He almost forgot how beautiful love can be.
Xiao watches Zhongli leave before he turns to you, gently taking your hand in his. You lean your head on his shoulder as you close your eyes, listening to Iron Tongue Tian’s story.
Xiao’s hand squeezes yours as he plays with your fingers.
He fails to suppress his smile when you squeeze back.

LEVIHAN NATION it’s been a long time coming but I have something for yall… (no new art sorry) this is a headcanon that has made itself comfortable in my mind for quite some time now. WARNING VERY CHEESY AND MUSHY
Imagine, post-rumbling, Hange survives and fulfills her cottagecore dreams with Levi, but she frequently gets called to go on business trips to Marley and Azumabito and even other parts of the world to facilitate peace talks. Despite Hange’s incessant requests and their mutual separation anxiety, which developed as a consequence of what happened the last time they stayed apart from each other for a prolonged period of time (cough zeke cough wine cough forest), Levi chooses to remain at home instead of tagging along due to his mobility issues.
Nonetheless, Levi secretly wishes that he can see the world with Hange, and in spite of his attempt to keep up a facade of nonchalance Hange sees RIGHT THROUGH IT. As such, Hange always makes sure to collect souvenirs, snacks, interesting gadgets, tea packets with flavors that Levi has never seen before. and many different kinds of memorabilia for Levi on her trips, in an effort to let him glimpse into what she has been seeing.
On one particular night after an exhausting trip, Hange surprises Levi with a promise ring. She doesn’t know if Levi ever wants to get married, and she doesn’t wish to pressure him, she says. But this is her way of telling him that she is here to stay. Forever.
Levi tears up, and Hange notices that his hands are shaking. She tenses up, unsure if Levi likes the gift or not. But her worry swiftly vanishes when Levi kisses her, all the while smiling against her lips. Her heart soars in delight as she kisses back.
“You idiot,” Levi mumbles lovingly when they break apart.
“I love you.” She giggles as she replies.
“If you wanted to ask if we can get married, you could have just asked.” Levi teases her, to which she replies in surprise. “You want to…?”
“If it’s with you, yes.” He says, in a matter-of-fact tone. The answer is so simple, and yet. “Because I’m in love with you, Four-Eyes.”
OKAY THIS IS VERY CHEESY IM SORRY ANYWAYS I WOULD KILL FOR A FIC LIKE THIS…I JUST LOVE the idea of Levi getting choked up with emotion as Hange presents him with a ring

Hey mdzs crowd how would wwx being a bloodborne hunter sucked into a night of the hunt every full moon sound?
Maybe not a full long night, just an 'hour' of it every month, so he finishes one full hunt a year??
A qi free place, exactly like the actual game, but he has to sneak away into the moonlight portal or risk an agonising transformation into a grotesque beast himself for the duration the moon is in the sky. Cloud cover does nothing. He will try and kill everything in his path unless chained.
A choice between becoming a werewolf or the hunter, basically.
And lwj somehow following him through the portal once, to this qi less place, but as a cultivator of significant insight and an unprotected human of normal blood it goes REALLY downhill fast until wwx is able to free him, either by a high adrenaline scene getting a collapsing lwj back through the portal before it closes or by managing to drag his increasingly agonised and overwhelmed body to the sanctuary until the time is over, thus wasting valuable time and making things so much worse for wwx in the next full moons. It's a very angsty and traumatising reveal all round.
Because wwx is a whip smart guy with dangerous thoughts on resentment and the use of corpses, who went through horrifying things and emerged amazingly intact but not untouched, and I think it'd be really interesting to see the interplay of these dual lives. How the cultivation world is so, so much better in pretty much every way, but its own horrors reflective of yharnam, its capabilities for so much more than what they have.
Like, he'd be so much more desensitised to horror and gore, but it'd be matched by the stubborn drive that this is his home, his refuge from the dragging terror of the hunt, and he'd defend that to his last breath. And living a life as a (horribly fragile if lethal) mortal and still surviving the worst yharnam has to throw at him, he'd have a very different outlook on losing his core. He's already seen how, with the right tools, he can be just as dangerous if not more than the average cultivator. And in the cultivation world there's just so much more potential!
His inherent goodness, too, would not survive without damage just from the smog of hopelessness in the air. A wwx who can't keep that instinctive urge to help, but now has to choose, with every second, to remain kind (if not extremely inflammatory about it lmao).
The contemplation of demonic cultivation, too, would have a very different sort of draw. It's not just forbidden, taboo, but he's seen the very worst of it in action; the healing church, the orphan of kos, the vile bloods, the school of mensis, the feral beasts in rotten human skin roaming every street convinced they're still human.
But wwx isn't wwx without truly amazing levels of trailblazing hubris and curiosity, and he'd have the little niggling whispers in the back of his head, theories about how what they did could have been used for actual good, or at least more humanely. When he committed to the risk of demonic cultivation, he'd feel the dangerous itch to practice on things already dead, things that can't touch his home. To organise his goals, get some sort of advantage from this awful place, where the consequences (probably) can't follow him home. But yharnam is the most dangerous place possible to try messing with blood and the dead, and the knowledge of the rheumy eyes of the eldritch monstrosities above him is a heavy pressure on the back of his head.
I'd love to explore the themes of the changes wrought, these two different existences touching through wwx, but also can you imagine the yiling patriarch with a gun and a butchers knife?

Prince for Hire Deleted Scene: Part 12
Tumblr media
Amount Deleted: 343 words
Reason for Deleting: was working on setting up the kidnapped sorcerers thing (relevant with Batar's story-line and then a bit later with a recurring inquisitor who would make a fantastic drinking buddy), but this is still first half. Focus needs to remain on Prince Thaav, rather than the chaos that Kiris is resolutely ignoring.
Ways to fix: continue emphasizing Kiris' blinding loyalty to Prince Thaav, and continue deleting or winnowing those bits which don't support that. Other plot points should be hinted at and set up, but not emphasized.
Excerpt length: 343
Context: It's Kiris' first night in the Turre's Tesendi fortress - his first night surrounded by legit enemies - and while working out his plan to save Prince Thaav, he gets distracted by torn-out confession journal pages, which contain the last remnants of their owners' souls.
I'll be getting around to updating the WIP intro in a short eventually, so keep an eye out.
As for taglist: since it has been a hot minute since I was last actively posting, please let me know if you'd like to be added or removed to/from the taglist. @whimsyqueen @on-noon @houndsofcorduff @stuffaboutwriting @shrunkupthejams
Kiris was sure that if he were within Prince Thaav’s quarters, he would find the old prince snoring loudly enough to shake Tesendi’s walls. As it was, he could only hear their snapping soul, see it in flickers of sunshine yellow through the haze of ryd, and imagine its warmth. He knew where they were. He didn't know about the journals’ owners. Kiris listened behind him for the guards and found them safely distributed between their chambers and the living quarters, and braced himself against his desk. The pages fluttered like slaughtered things beneath him.
Carefully, Mahehv as a fluttering, scarlet anchor, he lead the realms thinner. Beyond and before Prince Thaav: their fellow princes, servants, and guards. Walls. Turre dead—long dead. Servants like Verosa hustling about in oddly narrow halls.
Farther.
Prince Ysiik, awake. In her quarters, however, and not near Prince Thaav’s: no concern tonight. Those other Prince Thaav-irritated princes, asleep.
Farther.
Ta Ritasa in his quarters, with company. Kiris moved by swiftly.
‘L Tuola in hers, the same dead soul which covered her quiver in crystalline clarity next to her bedside. Within her bed, Kiris corrected, and then moved even faster from her. Downwards.
Aathriok’s parent, weeping on the unyielding floor of the dining hall. Weeping, pulling towards Empathy and singing of dolorous bells, tolling and crying and—
Mahehv twitched against his neck.
—farther.
The green sanctuary goddess, barely existing under the Currents’ skies. Somehow surviving. Her hunger was like cracking ice, her desperation like drums, her—
Farther.
Here.
Polarized fear.
Studies, and restraints.
His people.
When Kiris withdrew from ryd, it beat into his body and collapsed him under his desk, Prophecy pounding for release and promising relief. When he could feel Mahehv’s claws again over his own pain; when he could hear it chirping and its feathers rustling over the lives of countless people and innumerable things; when he could open his eyes and see solid outline; when he could think again, he realized by choosing not to be oblivious, he’d taken a bathtub to his ‘save Prince Thaav’ plan.

Author's comment: Hello everyone! I was thinking about changing the "humans are weak and idiots" script because frankly biologically the story is quite different and I don't think we value our strengths either. How could a student without magic from a completely unknown world survive this school? With so many challenges and trials, bullies and arrogant kids everywhere? Human beings are quick to adapt to dangerous situations. A new teacher has something to say.
Content: Funny (kinda), a series of “misunderstandings”, Yuu's self-esteem boost without knowing it, inspired by human are space orcs and humans are weird.
Characters:  Professor Raoni Wamuro, Classroom students, Yuu,  feat Leona, Sebek, Ace, Deuce, Riddle Roseharts
Notes: My first Twisted Wonderland fic, hope you like it.Yuu's gender is neutral but may have some female biases, sorry.
Want to know what happens next?
Tumblr media
The infamous NCR was open to a new teacher, they just couldn't imagine how much some things would change from there. The experienced Professor Raoni Wamuro entered the classroom determined to teach those troublemakers something they should never forget: the danger from humans. Something that with expertise he could confirm, being an anthropologist. Wamuro was an old man in his late 70s, or late 80s, or late 90s. He never revealed his age, but his white hair reveals his experience behind battle scars and words so serious and wise.
The students did not understand why they were having this content, some more skeptical made fun of their teacher. Wamuro would be the new teacher of teenagers full of passions and hormones, he has to capture their attention quickly because the subject is about to get more and more serious. Raoni was weaving his speech carefully, choosing the right words to get where he wanted. He started the class with an old picture that illustrated his book. A dangerous species of marine being and a human by its side. The caption of the image read: “A year, 12 people are killed by sharks. 12000 sharks are killed per hour by humans.” He remembered having this class in college, took a deep breath and started an introduction about who it is, what the subject is and its importance, however the students thought the class was too slow.
- I still don't understand why we're taking this class? Professor, we've seen humans before, they are not dangerous much less threatening!- a beastman mob interrupted Professor Wamuro
-It's a waste of time to study about them! They have no claws or fangs! How will they hunt prey?- His friend agreed with him
-They don't need claws or fangs to kill you young. They just need to outlast you. And believe me, they will. They can chase their prey for days and nights without sleeping, eating and non-stop until they manage to kill it. A good example of why their body doesn't have as much fur as beastmans, they need to balance heat so they don't overheat.- Raoni answered him and taking his silence as an answer, continued.
-Don't be naive. Don't underestimate them. Humans don't appear to be a walking danger, but they are like a ticking time bomb. Nature took pity on us and didn't grant them any magic, because it wasn't necessary. If they had, they would have destroyed everything by now. Their ambiguous and ambitious nature takes them much further.- Taking advantage of the students' doubtful silence, he continued his explanation giving more details. He couldn't help that the mood weighed when he remembered the situations he had witnessed in his years of war. How many times had he underestimated humans and been surprised by new attacks and deaths?
Raoni Wamuro was from an ancient race that battled an ancient race of humans for a long time. Humans evolved fast while their race remained the same. After retiring from the military, he decided to explore areas of knowledge still so little talked about and diversify his skills. He went from general to scientist and never stopped, his scientific research and archaeological findings are always in the most renowned and respected books and magazines in the world of Twisted Wonderland.
-Lethal machines I mean, a frighteningly complex body and minds so complicated that I consider them a labyrinth where many get lost.
-They don't stop until they reach their goals. Humans have incredible resistance, even to shocks, the ability to quickly recover from injuries and injuries, to adapt easily to any environment and stay on top of it.- he shouted loudly.
-Professor, this is..a little different from what I expected…- a fairy admitted, he didn't know about all this scientific content that surrounded human beings.
-You and your little friend can die from an infection and a simple wound, but humans…they can rip off their own limbs and survive for years. - Professor Waduro looked at him seriously, feeling a shiver run down his spine and his students too.
-They are unstoppable!
Some students couldn't help but remember all the times when Yuu, the underrated magicless prefect out of the world, threw himself to face all those overblots and others remembered how he managed to handle so many tasks that the oh  gracious Crowley put on his back.
-They have evolved a digestive system that allows them to eat poison mushrooms and ingest poisonous plants for sheer satisfaction.
"-Yuu, where are you taking this plant?" asked a beastman giraffe, he and Yuu were cleaning the Botanical Garden when he saw that the little one gathered some suspicious plants.
-It looks like a commonly used spice where I come from.- The giraffe was even more confused, in his homeland people felt very sick just by smelling this plant, some even stopped at the hospital. Why would you use it in your food?”
-They destroyed all their natural predators, staying at the top of the food chain.- A memory flashed through a coyote's head, its ears inadvertently picking up an interesting conversation.
“ - Herbivore, you have to learn your damn place. - The savanaclaw's dormleader groan at Yuu. Leona had just avoided a fight that Yuu was "involved in". A misunderstanding, Yuu said. It was challenging me, said the predator type.
-Shishishi Yuu, if it weren't for us you'd be in trouble.
-Oh, are they predators? Sorry, it's just that where I come from they don't exist anymore.- They answered honestly and without thinking too much, after all they never had to run from animals to survive. Just the chickens on their grandfather's farm that soon turned into soup. But that could not be explained in time.”
-A curious fact is that they manage to create a group of different animals and people, creating a strong bond with absolutely anything.- Professor Wamuro continued listing some curiosities about the species. A flashback flashed through the minds of many students already troubled by the similarities.
“The students were open-mouthed about the situation. A terrible chimera escaped from its cage and was terrorizing the corridors of NRC, all those who tried to dominate it or cast a spell to calm it were unsuccessful attempts. The terrifying chimera was now… lying on the ground on its back, soaking up all the affection and care that Yuu gave it, the beast purred so loudly that the ground shook, but that only made Yuu smile along with the animal they dubbed Amy .
-I've already prepared the new cage for the chimera, bring it here. - Riddle caught the attention of the prefect, who got up and called the beast
-Come on Amy! Your cage is right here my cute kitty!- Amy grumbled when her affection was cut off, but soon she started walking beside Yuu to the cage. After giving some treats to his “kitten” the prefect thanked Rosehearts with a quick hug that was soon returned. When did the crimson tyrant become so friendly?? The last one got so close to him it was off your head.”
-Humans are famous for analyzing their opponent and designing their traps. So they create many mental and physical traps to numb their victim and have fun with their mental confusion.
“She sells seashells by the seashore.”
-She shell she… ARG! Why do we even have to do this? What a useless game!- Sebek complained loudly, he had been trying the tongue-twister that the prefect brought from his world for minutes and still no results.
-Come on Sebek! It's a fun game, just to pass the time. - Yuu motivated him
-Lilia-sama would find a human game utterly useless. It's none of my business!
-First of all, I'm asking you and not Lillia-senpai. Second I just played with him this tongue twister
-Tongue twister? Is this the method of my torture?
-Sebek is just a game for distraction, try again! And ah–! Lillia, do you want to try again?-Lillia appeared in midair scaring Sebek, Yuu was already waiting for him to appear, the older one made it very clear that he didn't want to give up. Lilia tries a few times and gives up a little later.
-She sell sheas…!Se shells sheas…!- they burst out laughing as Lilia whispered a “just like old times!”
The green haired fae looked confused and his laughter died when he realized this: They are making fun of him! YES! They are playing tricks so they cant solve and GOD THEY JUST TRICKED MASTER LILLIA? AND IT WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME? What audacity of this human without magic, playing dirty with a guardian as exceptional as Lillia Vanrougue!
-Why don't you try this tongue twister with Malleus? I bet he'll like it! - the magenta haired one suggested happily however Sebek increased his alertness even more.
HE'S GOING TO FOOL THE YOUNG MASTER IN A SILLY JOKE! AND LILLIA SAMA WANTS HIM TO PARTICIPATE TOO? WHAT KIND OF MENTAL CONTROL TRAP IS THE HUMAN SETTING??” - Sebek was present in the class, the new information only served to raise more suspicions about the frien--human. Human being. Silly human.
-Professor Wamuro, where do these dangerous humans come from?- A pufferfish merman asked hesitantly, his hand shaking as he stood up. There were other humans in the school and they were nothing like these monsters, so it only makes sense that they are ancient beings or a place very far from there right? Right??
-Ohh they come from.. ah I remembered. From a deadly blue planet of unknown location. The ancients called “Earth” something like… oh exactly like that! - scratching his long beard Raoni walked across the room spotting an area with posters.
Professor Raoni saw a poster with a space system with a large star in the middle called Sun and 8 planets orbiting around it, the third of them being a blue rocky sphere, with well-delimited lands and white clouds. He just didn't imagine that some magicless prefect from another world made the drawing in astronomy class tracing an arrow pointing to the planet. “HOME EARTH” was written, his friends suggested that he write that detail so that the students would know a little more about his homeland. The component names had a heart and a sword, plus a “Grim” with a paw.
The students absorbed the information given by the new teacher, and with a pale face they exchanged glances with each other listening to the whispers that Wamuro emitted, thinking aloud about the next subjects for the classes taking turns between some rather strange theories. The train of thought was cut short just before the bell rang with a soft knock on the door and a voice that said:
-Excuse me Professor Raoni Wamuro, I'm Yuu. The director asked me to give you these papers.- Yuu said as they opened the door.
The bell rang and while the prefect waited for a bunch of teenagers running wild for their precious break, they found a room hesitant to get up from their chair avoiding the gaze and a confused teacher….

“Mesh’la?”
An expectant whisper filters into the echoes of a dream I’m slowly leaving, the imagined landscape disappearing into a fade-out of blackness.
“Mesh’la?”
I exhaled slowly, my eyes lifting groggily in their exhaustion to the sight of the soft gray light of dawn filtering into our room. We must’ve landed. I don’t remember this room even having windows.
“Mesh’la, you awake?” He whispered urgently, his voice soft and thick with sleep. I hummed grumpily, fighting to keep my eyes open.
“Am now.” I grumbled, craning my neck to search for another comfortable spot I could dig into to slip back into sleep. He laughed quietly, my grouchy quip apparently endearing to him. I turned my face to glance at him. I could just make out the golden flecks in his brown eyes, staring at me. He had inched as close to me as his broad shoulders could bring him.
“Can’t sleep.” He grinned sheepishly, the tiredness prevalent on his handsome face. The kind he hadn’t felt since his very last real mission with his men.
“So you had to wake me up to join you?” I teased, pulling our blankets up to my face and hiding myself from him behind it.
“I think I just needed to hear your voice. Talk to me. Tell me anything.” He asked, his voice quieting with such a soft request, finding the courage within him to ask for help. He was working on that. He rolled over, resting his head right next to mine and nuzzling into my neck. “My mesh’la.”
I slowly rolled over to face him, curling an arm around his back and dragging my nails along the buzzed hair at the nape of his neck. “Rex. My sun, moon and stars...” I started, muttering the words of comfort into his ear. “You’re so loved. Admired. You’re my safety. Our little family will be together soon. And we can hold our ad’ika between us every night.”
“Gonna be hard to get me to sleep with a reality like that, my love.” He whispered, a soft hum of satisfaction filling the room. His arms curled around my waist, enveloping my whole body in a shroud of tan skin and taut muscles. He’d taken his armor off and left it in the corner of the room beside the helmets of our other two companions. They’d probably long since left the room to tend to the ship, check on our position and give us all some time to ourselves.
It would be our reality soon. Whether we were prepared for it or not. Maybe we should’ve been more cautious or spent less time all over each other. But with the way the galaxy was going, who could blame us for indulging in the one thing no one could ever take from us?
I did want this more than anything. For Rex and I both. A new life. We could take Gregor and Wolffe and hide out somewhere in the Outer Rim. Quiet and safe. Raise our little one between the four of us. There were no better role models than the three men I’d found myself living beside. There were no better men than the clones to fulfill a Father’s role. And certainly no better man than Rex to actually be my child’s Father.
It was wildly unplanned and it was going to be stressful. But for the first time in months, we were happy. Truly happy in a way the Empire couldn’t violate or destroy. The little one within me was our hope growing stronger everyday.
“How are you feeling…about everything?” I asked, resting my lips on his forehead and running my fingertips further down the faded scars on his neck from all those rotations ago. “Are you worried?”
He pulled his face back to look up at me, bright eyes under thick dark lashes. “No, not worried, mesh’la, never worried. Surprised, yes. But not worried. We’ll adapt and figure out what we need. You know I’m good at that.”
“I’m glad one of us is calm.” I sighed, my breathing shaky and uneven. “I’m...nervous.” I admitted, “it’s going to be different. I’m going to look different.”
“Yeah, so? You’re going to become even more fierce and feisty to protect the little one. You have no idea how sexy you are to me when you’re like that…” He chuckled deep down in his chest, “…your little scowl. Girls at 79s were so scared of you. Some of the boys too. Course that was because if they got within 3 feet of you I’d put them on garbage duty.”
I hugged him closer, “I didn’t need you to protect me then. Not like I do now.” I thought back to that cell. Cold. Not just physically, but emotionally too. Like there was no way anything could ever be happy again. It closed in around me the longer I sat there, wondering what was going to happen to me. “I’ve never had to be afraid like this before.”
Rex sighed and leaned forward to rest his forehead on mine. “None of us have.” His fingers curled in the hair behind my ears as he kissed me softly. “Things will be different. But we’ve got each other. We’ve got Gregor and Wolffe. Maybe soon we’ll have Cody. I hope. We’re in good hands. The baby will be too.” He tried his best to reassure me, but we both knew what was at stake. We couldn’t keep going at this alone. We needed help.
“Do you know where we are?” I asked, trying to change the subject and push my apprehension aside. I squinted in an attempt to make out anything in the landscape of the planet we landed on.
“Carida. In the mountains. Should be good for a little while. Nothing’s really out here. We can regroup. Wolffe took us down a few hours ago.” Rex glanced over his shoulder at the sun slowly peeking through the window just over a mountain peak. “We didn’t want to wake you.”
“Is everyone else feeling okay? It looked like Wolffe took a beating.” I whispered, pulling myself closer to Rex’s chest and burying my face in it. “I’m not just worried about myself. I…I worry about all of you.”
“He’s okay. He’s been worse. Think it’s more emotional damage than anything. Both of them are sort of traumatized. Not being able to save Fox. Wolffe is taking it pretty hard. We need to give him some time to breathe.” He sighed, stroking my hair between his fingers and inhaling the scent of me to keep himself grounded. “How much longer can we keep doing this, mesh’la? Seems like the deeper we get into the truth the more I question the point of all of this.”
I could see what he meant. The war took its toll on everyone. Most especially the clones. After all they’d fought for, everything they endured, it was starting to feel more and more like we were entranced in a battle we’d never win. After what we’d seen the last day and a half, I’m not sure there even is such a thing as winning in war. Both victory and defeat brought us catastrophic loss, with survival hardly being a considerable enough prize under the circumstances.
Rex, Wolffe and Gregor were three such men who barely even recognized the meaning of failure much less the physical act of doing so. But one look on Wolffe’s face as we sat on the bunk room floor last night said it all. Resolve was fracturing and those who hadn’t died already were realizing that surviving in the galaxy that was being rebuilt was a fate worse than death. It was no wonder they were questioning the point.
“If we don’t keep trying to save your brothers, who else will?” I asked solemnly, placing a soft kiss on the scar on his chest. Slowly I sat up, remembering the intel I stole from the command station. “We still have the holodisc. If the right people see this…maybe we bring this to Bail. We have the proof now. Of the chips, of the order..that the Empire is planning something horrible. He could find a way to help us.”
He sat up too, leaning on the wall of our bunk and cradling me in his arms. His chin rested on my shoulder and his arms looped protectively across my belly. “You remind me of her sometimes.” He muttered.
“Padmé?”
“Yeah.” His nose nuzzled into the skin under my jaw, eyes closed as he searched inside himself for the same fighting spirit he once knew on instinct. “She always found hope when there wasn’t any. You have that gift too.”
I hummed my agreement, chills going up my spine at such a compliment. I tried my best to reel myself in and be gracious about their pain like she would have. They needed time. Even if I didn’t. Even when I couldn’t wait. “I suppose…we can’t risk contacting Bail so soon after what we stole. It could implicate him.” My shoulders sagged, my hands fumbling for Rex’s, still resting on my belly. “Even with all that we know, I still feel so helpless. I don’t like waiting around.”
“That’s where having three expert strategists comes in.” He laughed softly, “we might be tired. We might be questioning everything, but we can’t stop fighting. Mesh’la, I don’t think we know any other way.”
I turned my face to rest my forehead on his, warmth beginning to flare in my lower belly again. “Well I know that’s not true. You’ve got lots of other talents, baby.” I smirked, caressing his cheek with my thumb.
“Hmm you’re right about that.” He leaned forward, capturing my lips between his and nibbling on my bottom one softly. “Pretty good kisser I think.” He said smugly, his hands on my belly beginning to walk up and down my sides underneath my top.
“Just good at kissing though. Don’t think you have any other skills.” I teased, kissing him again and slowly moving to allow him to lift my shirt off me.
“Now you’re just baiting me…” he accused, his traveling hands now cupping one of my tits in his grasp. “Want to show you all the other things I’m good at, little brat?”
I sighed softly at the contact, his hands kneading at the plush of both breasts now. “Prove it.” I retorted, raising an eyebrow at him and trying to further tempt him.
He laughed maniacally, moving my hair aside to kiss up and down my neck. “Hmph- you’re in for it now.” His roaming hands smoothed down my belly again, trailing one even lower until he brushed over my center with the heel of his palm. “Spread these legs for me. I’ll show you what else I’m good at kissing.” He whispered, his voice husky now with arousal.
“Oh…okay, my love. Show me.” I gulped, the rasped words setting butterflies alight in my core. A rush of overwhelming desire and heat flowed through me. Probably the hormones kicking in by now. I did as he asked and parted my thighs, allowing him to help me wriggle out of my bottoms. My bare cunt perfectly exposed and ready for his taking.
“Good girl.” He cooed, his palms lightly gripping my thighs as he let the cool air of the room rush past the wetness now coating my exposed lips. “Soaked already. All for me?”
I nodded affirmatively, our eyes meeting as he looked back up at me to get my confirmation. “Always for you, Captain. Can’t help what that handsome face does to me.”
He cocked an eyebrow and winked, “hmmm I better watch myself then. There’s quite a few handsome faces like mine.” He joked, sliding his palms further up my thighs toward my center.
“Uh-uh.” I shook my head, “there’s no one like you, Rex. Promise.” I smiled, “you just want to find more ways to tease me.” One of his hands pulled back up to tweak a nipple between his fingers.
“Oh yeah? You seem to be enjoying it.” He muttered darkly in my ear, “let’s see how much, pretty girl.” His raspy voice at a deep rumble in my ear, the vibrations in his chest spread across my back deliciously. As he palmed my breast, gripping and kneading it, his hand slid over the crease of my thigh, cupping over my mound.
I hissed at the contact, his fingers trapping my heat and becoming coated with my arousal. Two of his thick fingers divided, tracing down either side of my opening obscenely. “Oh Rex…” I drew in gasp and exhaled a lilted squeal. He hummed his delighted approval in my ear, kissing the spot right below it as his two fingers circled around my leaking hole.
“Yeah? You like that?” He asked softly, his thumb joining his soft petting as it slid through the wet silk of my center to rub my clit. I closed my eyes and let the torturous tingle begin to radiate outwards from my center. “Little more then.” He muttered, his middle finger gently pressing into my fluttering entrance, my hips immediately bucking forward to pull him in deeper.
“More. Lot more. Please…Rex. Fuck that feels…so good.” I whispered, my soft moans cutting the silence on the ship. His fingers curled, pressing that spongy patch inside and beckoning with a few slow flicks of his fingers. The squelching sound of my arousal echoing around the bunk was positively depraved.
“So hot, mesh’la. You’re doing so well for me. Getting you so wet, fucking you open so you’re ready for my cock.” The filth poured out of him, his fingers spreading my entrance taut around them as he pushed them into the knuckle.
“Wish we…mmm…recorded this.” I groaned, laughing softly as he languidly slowed to a halt. He withdrew his fingers and brought them to my lips.
“Someone’s a talkative little thing today…” His fingers traced my bottom lip, my arousal dripping onto it. “Suck. Taste yourself for me.” I obliged, wrapping my lips around both soaked digits and lewdly bobbing my head back and forth. Soft suckling sounds followed as I let the sweet tang of me coat my tongue. I hummed around his fingers and held onto his wrist, mimicking all the filthy things I was used to doing on his cock.
He gripped at my hip again, his erection prodding painfully into my backside now. This was turning him on like crazy. “How- how’s it taste?” He stuttered.
I popped off them and kissed his knuckles. “Good, Captain.” He released a pent up huff and without warning rolled me over onto my back underneath him. The weight of his chest caged me in and I closed my knees around his hips.
“My turn.” He smirked, his rough palms running over the outline of my waist. The ravenous look of a man starved met my gaze as he slowly sank down to his knees by the side of the bunk. “Let me taste this perfect cunt. Can’t wait anymore.” A trail of kisses followed as he slowly made his way down my torso to my center. He positioned my thigh over his shoulder just like he liked, the other hand pressing my thigh into the bed to keep my squirming at bay.
My boyfriend, looking like he was about to devour me, made every hair on my body stand on end. His expanded pupils trying their hardest to take in all of me spread open before him. He eased himself down, maintaining eye contact as he pressed a soft kiss to my clit. The pressure made me shake with anticipation instantly, his tongue darting out to flick the little bundle that could have me coming apart in minutes.
I reached my hand out for him, our fingers entwining as he received it. “Look at me, baby. The whole time. Don’t look away.” I begged, the fiery golden brown in his eyes my favorite sight to focus on as he took me to heights unknown. He arched his brow at me as if to say he absolutely already knew and relished in that fact.
His tongue pushed more pressure onto my clit, starting an ever increasing pace as I felt the tension rising in my core. He groaned, clearly enjoying the taste of the arousal between my lips on his tongue. “stars…Rex…right there.” I whimpered between sighs of ecstasy. Moving one hand to grip the edges of the bunk, the other rested on the curled blonde fuzz at the crown of his head. “Don’t know what’s…b-better, how good you look or- fuck- mmmf how good this feels.”
The tip of his tongue circled the swollen bud, pulling back the hood of my clit with one hand while he relentlessly lapped me into a frenzy. His dark eyes flickered with a playful lust as he pulled back with a slow devious smirk. “How good you taste, mesh’la. How pretty you look when you come for me.”
My eyes rolled back as he flattened his tongue and licked a long stripe through my folds. He hummed darkly, the sweet tang of me on his tongue clearly satiating him the way nothing else could. I tried to keep my eyes shut, to focus on the wave of pleasure ebbing closer and closer. But as hard as I tried, I couldn’t look away. His pretty, strong jaw, coated in slick, his dark eyes hooding closed as he inhaled the scent that drove him deeper into his desire for me. “Oh..my…” I gasped, a high-pitched whine filling the air instead of my breath.
He twirled teasing circles around my entrance, forcing my hips to buck closer to him. My nails scraped the metal edge of the bunk and I arched off the surface, tossing my head back to moan loudly. I could feel him grin wickedly against the sensitive skin of my thighs closing in around him. “My girl…look so pretty for me like this. All spread out for me.”
With both his biceps he pushed my legs apart, his hands moving up the length of my sides and making goosebumps crest along every inch of skin he touched. His every touch was like a spark lighting me on fire in his wake. Slowly, his palms found their way around the curves of my breasts, kneading at the flesh he’d bruised with his own fingerprints probably hundreds of times before.
His brows furrowed in thought, as he squeezed both hands tightly around the roundness of them. “They’re gonna get so swollen soon. When I lay you on your back like this, I can watch ‘em grow. Feel how much they ache to be touched. And fuck am I going to want to.” He tipped his chin forward, lips connecting with my clit again while his hands worked both my breasts at the same time.
“Mmm yeah…gonna spoil you a little with them. R-Rex…let you have whatever you want from me.”
“So like always then?” He quipped, chuckling softly as he sped up the motions of his tongue between my folds. “Can you give me a little something now, my mesh’la? More of the taste of that perfect pussy on my tongue. Need you to come so good for me.” The rhythm carried my pleasure higher toward its peak.
I felt the familiar burn of bright satisfaction knotting tighter in my belly, the licking heat dropping between my folds and onto his waiting tongue. “So close…I’m so close.” He quirked a brow at me, clearly impressing even himself with how quickly he’d brought this on for me.
“I know, pretty girl. I can always tell. Know you so well.” He muttered, his tongue sliding down my slit, his nose bumping my swollen, over sensitive bud. “How your little cunt flutters…craving the way I fill you, how you whine because you need me so bad…” I gasped, high pitched cries of his name filling the room. He shifted his grip to pin my hips down to the mattress with his forearm, working me faster and harder than before. I dug my nails into his shoulder and moaned loudly, losing complete control of my lower half. “Your body trembling as you wait for it to take you…I’m right here, darling. Ready to let you soak me. Come for your Captain, I know you need it. All over my face…come for me.” He cooed softly, his words a stark contrast to the devious smirk drawn across his lips.
The breath caught in my chest as he pressed his tongue up through my folds to beat at my clit in a delightfully sensual rhythm. He knew exactly what he was doing, lighting the burning coil in my belly on fire. Searing heat tore through my nerves as I felt the blissful blanketing of pleasure surging inside me.
“There she is. Yes, mesh’la, that’s my good girl.” He encouraged flicking at the little bundle every few seconds to keep the high going as long as he could. Tears pricked my eyes at the corners as my high flooded the space between my legs, Rex humming in delight as he lapped up every drop. “So sweet. Want you nice and slick and ready for me.”
I moaned desperately, my walls collapsing around nothing not doing enough to satisfy my need. I wanted to be stretched around him. I needed to feel him spear up into that spot only he’d ever been able to reach, to pound into it until it numbed my limbs and wiped my mind clean. I could feel my hole fluttering with each pass of his tongue licking up through my folds. “More, more. I need you.” I begged, desperation breaking my focus on him.
His eyes ignited with a flicker of lust from where he looked up from between my legs. He winked and smiled happily, “what was that, my love? What do you need?” He teased, slicking his thumb up my folds and drawing the digit into his mouth. His opposite hand caressed my waist, gripping my hip bone for leverage as he pulled himself back up to hover above me. “Use your words, mesh’la.”
I bit my lip and wrapped my arms around his back, hoisting myself upright by latching onto his unbelievably strong upper body. My lips collided with his urgently, tasting myself all over his tongue as they twisted together passionately. He pulled me into his chest with one arm, rolling me into his lap as he seated himself down onto our bunk. His eyes shot down to where our centers bumped each other, signaling that he’d been ready to take me since the second he parted my legs. All I had to do was ask.
“Your cock, Captain. I need it.” I pleaded, letting my folds graze over top of it to tempt him with my heat. “Please.” I whined, rocking my hips forward and feeling his chest heave at the contact. A low rumble emanated from deep in his chest, his hands shooting down to clap onto the globes of my ass hard enough to leave a mark.
“Just wanted to hear you say it, little tease. Gods- you feel so good already. So hot for me, huh? Drives you crazy having me so close. Imagine how I feel…” he fell backwards, making it easier for me to slip myself right over top of him. His large hands guided me against his length, slicking himself up with the release he’d just dragged out of me. “You want me, mesh’la? Go ahead…sit on my cock. Show me how good you can take all of it.”
I braced myself, gripping onto his shoulders while looking deep into his eyes, the desire overtaking him just as much as me. I sunk down onto his cock, the dull ache inside instantly soothed by the pulsing of his stiff cock against my walls. My mouth dropped open and I giggled into a relieving smile, the familiar mix of pleasure and pain permeating every part of my soul. “Ahh fuck…Rex…” I smiled happily, my head lolling forward to rest against his broad shoulder.
“You feel it, mesh’la? How I spread you apart? You love it, don’t you? How it fills you…I know you do.” He chuckled, his firm hands on my hip bones as he began to rock me back and forth on top of him.
I rested my palms on his pectorals, his cheek brushing mine as he encouraged my gentle motions up and down on top of him. The width of him prodded into me deeper each time I settled my center on his. “I do, baby. I crave you. Like this. Making me whole. Filling me deep. I love it.” I rasped between exhales and reverent whispers, fading out into softly squeaked out little moans he loves so much.
Our eyes met, both burning with flickers of our ardent devotion to each other. He hummed softly, trying his best to stay in control as I pulled him closer and closer to the madness of his climax. “I can feel it. How you close in all around me, each time I move you throb a little harder. So good, huh, mesh’la? So fucking…hot for me.” He rambled, guiding his palms along the dips of my hips up to the curve of my waist.
“So…so good, Rex. You’re so strong I can’t hold it…much longer…” I groaned loudly, tossing my head back and exposing my neck, breasts pushed out enough for him to take full advantage of. The muscles in my lower belly screamed for release, collapsing in around him and seating me fully in his lap, unable to muster the strength to lift up again.
In a flash his hands shot up to knead my breasts in his palms, his tongue laving over the buds until they peaked with hardness all over again. He kissed sloppily up into the hollow of my neck, biting and sucking a deep bruise into the silky, untouched skin. “Don’t hold back then. Let go, mesh’la. Come right here on my lap. Let me watch it take you. Show me how pretty you look coming all over me, my perfect girl.” He urged, his kisses now trailing up my neck to just below my ear, his nimble fingers tracing over every mark he left in his wake.
I rocked into him just once more, my hands struggling to grasp onto some part, any part of the safety of his warm chest. I let my head drop to his shoulder, my palm sliding up his chest to settle against his neck. I sang out a loud, desperate moan, pressing my face into his neck. The tension in my core finally broke, dissolving into star dust that tingled outward through every inch of my skin, through every drop in my bloodstream.
His firm hand gripping my waist seated me perfectly in his lap as I writhed in ecstasy, my hands scrabbling at any inch of him I could grab and scratching my nails down his skin to mark him like he had me. “There you go, darlin’. That’s a good girl, let it take you. Love feeling that little pussy pulse all around me. Fuck! That’s so good.” He groaned, his thrusts up into me speeding up erratically as he chased my high with his own.
I tried to catch my breath, tightening my walls even more to increase the tension. He practically winced as the drag of my walls against him siphoned every last ounce of strength out of him. “Now you…come for me, Rex. Fill me. Show me how much you love when I’m your good girl.” I seduced, whispering the filth in his ear and leaving trails of hot kisses down the corded muscles in his neck. He was straining the longer I spoke, his grip on my waist a bruising one as he drove himself deeper and harder.
“Fucking love it. My perfect…filthy girl. Don’t want to ever…” He gasped, three erratic snaps of his hips following as he held me down in his lap. “Don’t want to ever stop fucking you…mesh’la..fuck…” He moaned salaciously, the death grip I’d locked him in finally becoming too much. With a final drive into me, he rocketed his release up into my waiting belly, the soothing warmth of each rope coating my walls.
“Rex.” I whimpered, panting breaths of heated exhaustion across every little kiss I’d left along his jaw and cheeks. I curled my hands on top of his on my waist and turned my hips in circles around him. His chest was heaving as he watched my breasts bounce in front of his face while I coaxed him through an intense climax.
With a final shiver, we both collapsed backwards, splaying both of our overheating bodies in a tangled mess over the wrinkled white sheets. Both of us twitched as undercurrents of pleasure and aftershocks took turns rocking us. His fingers intertwined with mine in a desperate lock on my hips, each of us feeling our hearts pounding out of our chests and into the others’.
“Mesh’la.” He muttered, his hand cupping my chin to guide my face up to his. “Been wanting to do that since before…”
“I know, Rex. Me too.” I brushed my fingers across the worry and anger furrowing his brow, relieving his fears just as I had his need. “No matter what happens, my love…we will always have this. Forever.” I promised, cupping my hands to his cheeks and softly kissing him.
“And longer.” He replied with his signature little side smirk. I could feel myself blushing, my cheeks getting even warmer than they were before as we came down from our highs. His big brown eyes twinkled with a spark of admiration and devotion and I could see the happiness he felt in the way he gazed at me. I leaned forward to brush our noses affectionately and he inched even closer.
With our foreheads pressed together, we exchanged kisses. Soft, fervent, affectionate and tender, lips pressing together and parting only to take in the breath we needed to continue. I stroked the stubble on his jaw and closed my eyes, each breath we shared sealed with a kiss. We fell asleep just like that.
The swaying of trees silhouetted by snow capped mountains came into view as we lowered our ship in the remote forest of Alderaan for the second time in just a few months. Gregor rested the ship down in a small clearing in the trees only a few clicks west of the Royal Family’s palace.
Luckily, we didn’t have to break in this time. We were to be met here in the woods by Bail to escort us into their home by nightfall. Alderaan was quiet and peaceful, its people asking only the right questions and never hesitating to step in to help those who needed it.
We were in desperate need of that help now.
Wolffe and Gregor took some mild convincing. They were skeptical that any high ranking senator would be interested in seeing clones infiltrating their home planet. They understood that people were going to be afraid of them. They had a right to be. Even if the three clones in our little company posed no more of a threat to innocent people than I did.
Bail of all people understood that. If not solely because of my convincing. And because Rex showing up to grieve over the news of Padmé’s death beside us both proved he wasn’t still affected like the others were.
I could trust him. We could trust him. Hopefully, after we left here, we’d have a plan in place to get more people to trust us.
“Still not sure this is such a great idea.” Wolffe grumbled, he being the most skeptical of all four of us. “From what I hear, Appo and his men…your men- scared him into fleeing the Capital. Wouldn’t blame him for thinking we’re all a bunch of unhinged lunatics.”
Gregor snorted, “he works in the Senate. He’s around a bunch of raving lunatics every day.”
“Yeah well Senators don’t carry DC-17s on each hip.” Wolffe retorted, rolling his eyes clearly self-conscious about how we’d come across.
“You sure about that?” I smirked, pulling one of the weapons I’d claimed from our ship's makeshift armory out of my pocket and brandishing it in the air.
Rex laughed, spinning his own blaster into his pocket as we prepared our stuff for departure. “Careful, cyar’ika.”
“Great, she’s got your penchant for showing off too. You two are quite a pair.” Wolffe’s mouth curled into a wry grin, his hands fumbling around to close the pack he’d filled with supplies. Guess a Commander doesn’t like to be unprepared for anything.
“And that’s why they’re going to be a trio soon. Stars help us all.” Gregor giggled, “bet it’ll be one cute little bug tho. Last time I saw a baby was on Kamino.” He ran his hand over his hair and scratched the back of his neck nervously. “What’s gonna happen to all the little ones?”
I frowned, slinging my bag over my shoulder and holding the puck with the secret intel in my hand. “They didn’t say. But I’m afraid of what we might find out. Maybe we could ask Bail.”
“I doubt he’d get the clearance. Things are becoming harder and harder to gain access to. The Empire controls who knows what intel now. To maintain order and control.” He spat, his lip curled in disgust and his signature perma-scowl deepening in anger. “That’s the kind of galaxy we live in now.” Wolffe explained, shuddering as he looked out the starshield at the landscape in front of us. He sighed, trying his best to keep his emotions at bay. “But I don’t think the little ones are going to live to see any of it. The cadets either.”
Rex shot me a pitifully anxious look, fiddling with the gauntlet plate on his hand. An unspoken signal that meant the same applied to our own little one. I gulped down the knot in my throat and subtly nodded in understanding. He stepped toward his brother, resting the same hand on his far shoulder and pulling him into his side. “Not if we have anything to say about it, right? We can stick up for them. And if we don’t, then who will?”
Wolffe closed his eyes briefly, letting his shoulders sag under his brother’s comforting embrace. He shook his head as if to shake off his apprehension and anxieties, looking between Rex and I before he spoke again. “I think you’ve got a little too much politician in you now. Both of you.” He turned, shrugging Rex’s arm off his shoulders before stepping forward. “Let’s go. Before I find the sense to change my mind.”
Rex opened his mouth to interject but I raised my hand, urging him to drop it. He nodded his understanding and let me follow after Wolffe, knowing he wouldn’t put up as much of a fight if I was the one to coax him forward.
I fell into step with Wolffe, leading the way with Gregor in tow and Rex at the rear. As we disembarked from the ship's docking ramp, I could see the outline of a tall hooded figure waiting in the shadows of the tree line. I motioned the boys toward where the figure stood clearly waiting for us.
“I see you’ve made progress.” The familiar level baritone rang out in the cool forest air. As we finally approached, he removed the hood on his coat, the welcome soothing grin and friendly dark eyes of Bail Organa greeting us once again.
“Not enough, I’m afraid…” I responded, looking up at him with fear in my eyes that I hoped he could read. He stood tall and firm, a powerful statue of justice in a galaxy becoming increasingly corrupted by evil. The concern grew the longer he looked over me, wear and tear clearly evident. Without further hesitation, I lurched forward and hugged him tight, happy to be truly safe for the first time in weeks. He softly patted the top of my head.
“And yet still a significant enough ordeal.” He sighed, holding me by my shoulders as he settled me back on my feet in front of him. “Who have you brought along with you?”
I stepped back beside them, Rex’s arm curling protectively around my waist to steady me. Both Gregor and Wolffe stepped forward shoulder to shoulder and assumed their usual positions of formality. Not out of necessity, but of a desire to seem less threatening.
“I’m Gregor, sir. 212th Attack Battalion, Foxtrot Group. And Imperial Academy defector.” Gregor responded first, a clever smirk drawing across his now stubble covered face.
“Ah, a Clone Commando. Impressive.” Bail nodded graciously, “Especially the imperial defector part.” He reached out his hand and shook Gregor’s, who looked at his hand like he’d been given a great honor. Bail turned to Wolffe next and asked, “And you are…?”
“Commander Wolffe. 104th Battalion.” Wolffe stood rigid, his apprehension only obvious to us.
“The 104th? Jedi Master Plo was your General, correct?” Bail asked softly, Wolffe’s serious scowl breaking in deep anguish at the memory of what happened to his beloved General. Bail rested his palm on Wolffe’s shoulder and bowed solemnly. “I am deeply sorry for your loss. He was a respected colleague and a trusted friend. We mourn him and all Jedi we lost here on Alderaan.” Bail finished, patting Wolffe on the shoulder in an effort to comfort him.
Wolffe looked away, the deeply rooted pain of the loss still a very sore subject for him. “Thank you, Senator Organa, sir.” He said quietly, clasping his hands behind us back to help him keep his composure.
Bail turned on his heels to face where Rex and I stood eager to get a move on and gestured for us to follow his lead. “Please follow me. Let’s get the four of you settled in. We can talk after you’ve all gotten cleaned up and been fed. You’ve all come a long way.”
We exchanged glances to confirm quickly before following him to the well-hidden transport he had arrived in. The ride was quiet as the boys and I huddled together for comfort, the reality of our situation finally starting to dawn on them.
This was not the Republic anymore.
There was no Republic escort on bright, shiny starcruisers and transport ships to bring us to the surface. There were no more welcome committees or fancy banquets. No carefully negotiated treaties or scheduled shifts with down time for every clone in the squad.
Never again.
Now it was smuggling ourselves on and off even formerly friendly worlds. Making supply runs and intel exchanges under the cover of shadows. Negotiating or doing odd jobs for spare credits or rations. Sneaking into safe places in disguise and riding in broken down crawlers and speeders to dissuade suspicion. This was what a rebellion looked like and the jury was still out on how involved we wanted or were even allowed to be.
For what it’s worth, the Organa family palace was stunning. Clean and elegant in a simple and sophisticated way. There was more focus on greenery, life and the beauty of the elements than there was on garish ornate showmanship like back home on the highest levels of Coruscant.
In a lot of ways, the Royal Palace of Alderaan reminded the three boys so much of Kamino. Their first and only real home. But without all the emotionless sterility constantly being reinforced in the smooth white walls. And luckily without all the rain.
The weather had grown colder since the last time Rex and I had visited. Their summer had come and gone, the leaves on their trees beginning to fade to amber, scarlet and gold under the waning power of the planet’s orbital sun. Though, the orange rays streaming into the windows right now did a number on the sunken, malnourished, and scarred faces of Gregor, Wolffe and Rex.
All of them sat around a large banquet table, each on their fourth helping of warm nerf stew, a delicacy in a time where food was starting to become more and more scarce. The waning warmth of daylight glinting off the bridges of their noses provided just enough essential energy to freckle and bring color back to their tanned faces. As if spending even just a few hours here could add years back onto their already sinfully shortened lives.
The sight of them huddled together, interacting domestically the way normal brothers should, brought a level of inner peace to my heart that I myself had never even known. Family. It’s all they ever truly had. A brotherly bond that innately came before all else. A higher duty to their own that they were slowly discovering was their only true purpose now.
Something I never had growing up alone and in constant survival mode on the lowest levels of the most populous planet in the universe. Being surrounded by trillions made having no family an even more isolating and lonely experience. I was glad that despite everything they’d suffered, at least they didn’t have to go through it alone.
That simple fact was precisely why we had to come here. We owed it to the rest of their brothers across the universe to not abandon them, to not allow them to suffer anymore than they already had. Even if Wolffe and Gregor didn’t like the odds, even if they were aware of the mighty risk, it wouldn’t take much convincing to remind them that we were the best chance the clones scattered around the galaxy had for being freed. Somehow, some way. We had the tools at our disposal to make our best effort.
Rex reached across the table for my hand, holding onto it loosely as I watched them all interact. I couldn’t help but smile. This was our family now. This was our little one's family. In its immediacy, it was small. Though their true family numbered in the millions. And, amongst the four of us, it was irreparably damaged, the scars of battle and loss too deep to ever fully heal. But it was our family and there was love here that would never lessen, even as the size of the entire family inevitably did.
“So what are we doing here on Alderaan? Why here?” Gregor posited, scraping up the remaining broth from his bowl with a sizable piece of biscuit.
“Bail Organa was my mentor. And he’s a friend. He’s watched over us from the beginning of all this. And from what I can tell…seems like he and his wife Breha are not content with just sitting around as the Empire siphons all the happiness from the galaxy.” I responded, looking around at the excess of furniture filling the open palace room. It was intentionally exorbitant, having more than they needed looked like the pinnacle of luxury. Yet, a closer look would tell you that that was not its true purpose.
Every piece littering the room was a place to lay one’s head. A resting place. A safe bed for weary travelers. There was far more than necessary for just Bail and his partner or their visitors. These were beds intended for life forms on the run from the Empire. The palace on Alderaan wasn’t an example of the height of the galaxy’s richest, most well connected elites.
The Royal Palace of Alderaan was a safe house for the formation of a Rebellion.
A galaxy wide resistance effort unlike anything they’d ever seen before. Bail understood that people, livelihoods and entire planets were fractured by the Empire’s squeezing fist on the galaxy. He knew that people would need to be rescued under the guise of charitable work or educational retreat. This was his masterful way of recruiting lifeforms to the cause and joining them together in an organized yet untraceable way.
I think he’d hoped there was a part of me that wanted in. That with three well-trained, brilliant strategic Republic war heroes and a rule-breaking, former whistle-blowing crime syndicate mole turned Senate aide, we could become vital pieces of a growing effort to make things more difficult for a terrifying fascist government.
Yet, here we sat, injured, traumatized and afraid for our lives. All of us completely unsure if anyone would ever believe what we had to say, proof or not.
“Sounds like he intends to start a Rebellion.” Wolffe muttered, wiping his face with a cloth napkin and sighing. “What does he need us for?”
“He doesn’t. We need him. At the very least, I can tell him what I found out at that Imperial compound. Show him what’s on the holodisc.” I pulled the puck from my bag and turned it in my hand a few times. “Should at least alarm them enough to discuss what to do about the remaining clones.”
“What makes you think anyone will care what happens to us?” Gregor questioned, the tiniest hint of a waver in his voice.
“Because you’re innocent. You were all pawns in the Emperor’s plan.” Bail’s voice rang out, reentering the room from his personal quarters on the other side of the palace. He wore a pleasant grin, one that held the promise of progress behind it. “And now you carry the proof of this. We can show the others.”
Rex spun around in his seat and cocked his head, “others, sir?” His gaze bounced over everyone at the table and then back at Bail.
Bail laughed softly, gliding across the span of the room toward the last empty seat at the elegant banquet table. “Yes, Rex. There are others who share our disdain for the Empire’s increasing chokehold on our personal liberties. I think you’ll find you recognize some of them.”
I concentrated hard, trying to remember the names and faces of people who had come and gone from his or Padmé’s offices or meetings we’d held. “I can think of a few who were always friendly with us. Not sure who is still around or- alive anymore.” I admitted, resting the puck on the table between us.
“Senator Mon Mothma of Chandrila. Though that should come as no surprise to you.” He smirked, resting a flimsi filled with names on the table in front of him. “Senator Riyo Chuchi of Pantora, Cham Syndulla leader of the Free Ryloth movement, Senator Lux Bonteri and Saw Gerrera of Onderon…just a few who have agreed to hear what you have to say.”
“Saw, eh? Trained him myself. Heard the Imperials did a number on his men recently.” Rex looked down at his plate, picking at the still sizable amount of food he’d left behind.
“And Senator Chuchi was uhm…close to Fox. She’s been a big supporter of clone rights from the beginning.” Wolffe added, perking up as a little more life entered his rugged frame.
“They’ve all agreed to meet us at a safe point. Where we can discuss the intel you’ve provided us on that puck and further steps…if we all come to an agreement.” Bail explained, looking around the table for more enthusiasm than we were giving him at the present moment.
I closed my eyes and thought for a second about the experience of each of these leaders during the Clone Wars and afterwards. A few of them would be well within their rights to refuse to speak with three members of the group of men that ultimately destroyed their worlds. “That’s a big If, Senator Organa. Do you think they have any sympathy left for our cause?”
Bail looked away out the window at the sun just starting to dip below the tallest mountain peak in our view. “They may.” He turned back to me, resting his hand on mine. “But many will require some convincing. That’s where your passion, your skills and all you’ve learned as our aide all these years will come in. You have to find a way to influence them into believing that this is doing what’s right by all of these men. There is no one else who will do it for you. Are you up for the task?”
The three men at the table whose very lives I held in my hands looked at me with more hope than they’d been able to muster in a long while. Probably since the worst day of their lives derailed everything that they’d ever known. They had faith that I could make the right people believe the truth. With all the love I had for my partner, his brothers, my friends, my new found family and our future little one, I could do it. I could use everything I know to be the real truth to communicate the very real and present danger imminent not only to the loyal, innocent men we’d trusted for years but to the galaxy as a whole if we let them continue to suffer.
“I’ll do it. But I’ll need all your help.” I replied, pressing play on the puck to start up the message I’d stolen. “We all need to listen to what this Rampart...is saying. We will have to connect the dots of each of our stories into one succinct truth.”
Rex looked at me in a haze of admiration and pride. “Mesh’la, you’ve got us all until the end. What do you need from us?”
“Let’s start with your stories. What led you here? How do three decorated former Republic clones defy a mandated order with no side effects? What makes the three of you immune to what so many others cannot control?” Bail wondered aloud, examining the scar on Rex’s hairline.
“Well, sir, that’s a long story. One that’s going to be pretty painful for us to each tell more than once.” Gregor admitted, rubbing the side of his bicep to assure himself. “Maybe we should each record our accounts of the situation. Document it so we don’t have to physically attend. Don’t think it’ll be safe for us to get emotional in front of people who are already scared of us.”
“Agreed.” Wolffe uttered sternly. “Don’t want possibly the only three survivors of this…order…to be in the same room with dozens of people who could sell us back to the Empire at any moment. Even if they mean well.”
Bail hummed his understanding. “You both make a good point. Perhaps only one clone is needed to attend with her to be a representative for your experiences.”
“I’ll go. I have the most to say anyways.” Rex said decidedly, “though, there is information that even I am not at liberty to share. There is also intel that I cannot access without clearance. Irrefutable proof from a reliable source is what saved my life. We can tell Fives’ story. But we’ll need his report to do it. It’s likely encrypted by now. Locked away under a secret passkey. The only other shreds of proof are the scans of our brains and the chips in our heads. We can provide all this too…if necessary.”
“All information is pertinent at this point. Is there anything else I might need to know?” Bail exchanged glances between Rex and I, like he knew there was some piece of vital information we were leaving out.
Which of course we were. The two most important pieces of information.
One. That I was actively carrying the offspring of a clone. That his survival as the baby’s Father was always going to matter to me more than to everyone else. Which made my interest in the entire matter more personal and more biased than the political sphere of influence would particularly care for.
And two. Ahsoka.
Ahsoka was the reason Rex survived the chip.
A jedi was the reason they gained access to Fives’ file with enough time to extract Rex’s chip.
Ahsoka was alive.
And as far as we knew, there was no one else aware of this truth. And no one else could ever know. The protection of the whereabouts of any jedi was a secret we would die to uphold. Many others, even the best of senators, might not be as noble.
“Nope. You know all that we do. Likely even more.” I replied, tapping into my former undercover operative training to remain calculatedly coy. Wolffe and Gregor squinted at me curiously, somehow able to tell that I wasn’t being entirely forthcoming about something. They just didn’t know what.
The baby was obvious to them. But what else it could be left them puzzled and Rex’s lack of suspicion made them even more aware that something wasn’t being fully communicated to them. I knew them both well enough now that I was sure they’d be itching to find out as soon as we were out of Bail’s earshot. The annoyed look on Wolffe’s face was enough to tell me we were both in for a stern talking to once this meeting was over.
“Fair enough, my friend. Now, I’d like to know your stories. We’ll record on my holocomm. This is going to be a long night. Don’t hesitate to let me know when you want a break.” Bail tapped a few buttons on the holopad and the blue projection ray began recording.
Wolffe stood up from his seat. “I’ll go first. I have several things I’d like communicated. Permission to swear, sir?”
Bail laughed out loud, clasping his hands together. “My permission is not necessary to be truthful, Wolffe. But swear you may.”
“Right…now where the fuck do I begin..” He rolled his eyes, folding his arms and starting at the beginning.
We only had the night to explain months worth of traumatic experience after traumatic experience. Each a bit darker than the last. We were to ship out the next morning to the Atrivis sector for a meeting with every known supporter of a future…rebellion as they were calling it.
It was our first real step toward progress since we’d saved Gregor from the Imperial Academy. It was messy, impromptu and disorganized, but I suppose Bail preferred it that way. The less we all looked involved with each other, the better we’d fair.
As excited as we all felt that we were finally getting somewhere, there was an underlying current of danger that I couldn’t shake. None of us knew what was to come of this. It was all or nothing now.
And let’s face it, it was three clones' words against millions. No matter what the truth really was, I didn’t like those odds.

In My Dreams I Can Hear You Call On Me
AO3 | FFN
Summary: Reala calls NiGHTS to have a talk about their loyalties now that Wizeman is gone, and attempts something he never would've before.
A/N: I return to writing with a one shot for a fandom I am willing to bet 95% of my following has no idea about but like...NiGHTS is up there with SPM for being one of my first loves. And so here we are, I'm writing for it.
NiGHTS looked over the letter in his hand, triple checking that he had arrived in the location specified as he entered the warm forest of Helen's dreams. The location where he'd been captured and almost lost his new friend. He hadn't planned on going, he was almost certain it was a trap. It wasn't normal for any Nightmarens to want anything to do with him after his defecting unless it was to capture him, and so returning to this spot without Helen or Will beside him was dangerous enough that Owl would chew him out as soon as he got back.
It was also, however, the first time Reala had reached out to him since he'd defected from Wizeman in a way that wasn't simply throwing him in a cage. NiGHTS wasn't going to give up this chance, not when he'd missed his brother so dearly after so long.
Sure of the location, NiGHTS glided into the canopy covered clearing, landing hesitantly in the center and watching for any tricks or traps Reala might have employed.
"Well, I was starting to believe you weren't going to show." Reala's voice echoed around the clearing, setting NiGHTS on edge.
"Reala, show yourself!"
Reala simply laughed. "You really don't know how to have fun anymore, do you brother."
It was, of course, false. If anything, NiGHTS was the one who had learned what fun really was, but it was unlikely Reala would believe him on anything that went against Wizeman's decree. "You called me here for a reason, either talk, or capture me, but I'm not here to play games."
"And here I thought that was all you could do." It seemed Reala finally listened as he lowered himself down from the tree and into the clearing, his steps even and methodical, as though he believed just by showing up here he would win.
NiGHTS tensed, expecting an attack from Nightmarens, or for the cage to suddenly appear, but no attack came. He hesitantly approached Reala. "I'm surprised to see you after…" Even with no love between him and Wizeman, it was difficult for NiGHTS to speak of the death of the man who had created him.
"I was surprised to survive," Reala admitted, a rare moment of weakness from the proud Nightmaren. "I had assumed that your foolish stunt had doomed us all."
NiGHTS nodded. Even he had been surprised to have survived. "I hadn't expected to survive, I just knew Nightopia would be better for Visitors without him. It was a cause worth dying for."
Reala scoffed. "Why? What could Visitors possibly offer worth dying for."
"Everything!" NiGHTS couldn't stop himself from blurting out the answer, but now that it was said, it could only remain hanging in the air. "You wouldn't understand it. All you've ever done is hunt them."
"As I'm aware." Reala simply acknowledged his statement.
Not for the first time, NiGHTS wondered why he had bothered to show up to this meeting. It hadn't ended with him in a cage, but if Reala was going to be as unyielding as ever, then all it did was prove that there was no point to him showing up.
As NiGHTS was about to bring that up and leave without another word, Reala spoke up once more. "It's something I want to understand."
NiGHTS looked at Reala, unable to believe what he was hearing as all he could do was stare blankly. Reala, his brother, the one Nightmaren who was more loyal to Wizeman than anything, wanted to understand. "Understand what?"
"What made you want to help the visitors to the point that you would choose to betray your own kind for them."
NiGHTS didn't know how to understand. In all of his wildest fantasies, he could never have imagined a world where Reala had actually wanted to listen to him on what he had to say. "It's complicated."
"Until we leave this clearing, you have my undivided attention."
NiGHTS hesitated, unsure of how to answer to Reala's genuine curiosity after so many years of hostility between them. "Visitors have something that we don't have, something that we'll never have no matter how many times we take it." NiGHTS reached for his heart, resting his hand over it. "But it's something that we can still try to understand, to feel."
Reala crossed his arms, dismissive. "Are you telling me that you're doing this because of ideya?"
"When you dualize with a Visitor, for a moment, you can experience everything they feel." NiGHTS closed his eyes, imagining the red Ideya of Courage filling him with its light. "Once you do, you start to understand why everything Wizeman told us was wrong."
NiGHTS had hoped that Reala would listen, but instead his cautious expression had turned into a frown, and his eyes narrowed in disgust underneath that hateful Persona showing where his loyalty still lay. The dialogue had closed. "You would ask me to dualize with a visitor, to betray our master upon his return, for the sake of what?"
"Your master." NiGHTS had long stopped listening to or following anything Wizeman said. "And yes, I would, because you deserve freedom too. Wizeman lied to us about so much. The fact that we can even have this conversation right now is proof of that."
"It's time you stop following everything Wizeman says so blindly, and start thinking for yourself." NiGHTS turned away from Reala. "If you're ready to do that, you know where you can find me."
He didn't wait to hear Reala's reply. The conversation was over, and NiGHTS left without another word.
-x-
Reala had hoped that his conversation with NiGHTS would allow him to return to serving his master when he inevitably returned from death without question, but if anything it had left him with more questions than ever before.
"You deserve freedom too." It was difficult for Reala to imagine just what NiGHTS had meant. Freedom didn't matter, what mattered exclusively was stealing the ideya, something that had always been his purpose.
Except what if he could find a new one, just as NiGHTS had in guiding the visitors. NiGHTS himself had said that the reason he had been able to find freedom in the first place had come from dualizing. Was that all it took, to reach out to a visitor and understand? Was it this same confusion that Reala was feeling now what had driven NiGHTS to leave the Nightmaren ranks during his initial defection?
The sound of crying had pulled Reala from his thoughts as he wandered around the dark expanse of Nightmare. He had expected to see a wandering Nightopian by following the noise, but instead, he was surprised to find a young visitor, crying in the corner.
He looked at the visitor, the red glow leaking from her hand likely the only ideya that remained, and simply stared, unsure of what to do.
His first instinct had been to reach for the ideya, to do what he had been created for, but his conversation with NiGHTS was still fresh in his mind, and he simply hesitated, watching the visitor.
Perhaps it had been the fact that he hadn't been hostile, but the visitor looked up, stopping her crying to face Reala. "Are you here to help me?"
Unsure of the answer himself, he chose to sit down next to her. "What happened?"
She sniffled. "I was so scared. There's this new girl at school and I want to be her friend but she…" She buried her head in between her legs again. "She turned into a monster and I…"
He went to reach out, but hesitated. He was a Nightmaren. He wasn't supposed to feel empathy for the visitors who found their way into this realm.
Yet a part of him could only empathize. If nothing else, he understood what it was like to reach out to somebody in an attempt to connect, only to be shot down time and time again. "I understand…"
He wasn't used to this whole comfort thing, it had been ages since he'd sat and comforted NiGHTS after Wizeman had hurt them to provide it, still, he wanted to do it. "It wasn't real though."
The girl looked at him, her eyes wide. "H-Huh?"
"This place is called Nightmare. It's meant to scare human visitors away, so they lose their ideya. It was nothing but a dream."
The girl looked down. "Why are you here then?"
Reala wasn't sure how to answer. It was his home, of course, but if he told her that, then there was no doubt in his mind that she would just run away. She'd be safe, of course, she'd eventually find her way back to the Dream Gate where she'd meet with NiGHTS and safely reclaim her other four Ideya, but if that happened, then he'd never truly understand what NiGHTS meant.
He took off his Persona, looking it over and suddenly wondering if it would still have meaning after the night's events. "I'm a guardian. I look for visitors in Nightmare to take them to a safe place."
He reached out his hand to the girl. "If you'd like to get out of here, I'll take you to my brother, NiGHTS. He resides in the Dream Gate, and he's very good at getting visitors back their ideya so they can return home."
The girl looked at him, the fear still visible in both how small she made herself and how stiff her movements were. "How?"
"We'll dualize," Reala said. "It's a process that will allow us both to combine, and we'll be able to fly out of here. Only if you're willing, of course."
The girl hesitated, but her fear outweighed her distrust, and she closed her eyes before nodding, and reaching out to take Reala's hand.
And Reala understood.

The start to my journey pt.1
It was in 2010 that I met the monster of a lifetime or so I thought. Later on in life I would meet another. In 2010 I met a man who shall remain nameless. We met in Tuscaloosa and at first everything was good. We had talked before online. Yes I did that and now that I think about it, I would say that was not one of my greater choices in life. That night after hanging out with friends he had got me alone and assaulted me. I was choked until I was unconcious and well after that I do not know exact detail but when I came to I knew I had been done in a way that was not my choosing. That was the beginning of the nightmare to come. I tried to stop talking to him and ended up getting threatening messages against me and my family. So what else do I do? I already had found out he was no good due to what happened to me and learning his violent background from everything you could imagine to assault. I tried to remain as close to my family as I could and knew how to at the time hoping he would just go away. I even started talking and hanging out with my ex. This plan didn't work. So because he would not leave me alone and I had my kids, I moved into my friends house and made the hardest but probably the most important decision of my life with my mother's help. I gave temporary custody to my mother and son's father until I could get away from this guy. He moved me all over Alabama and Florida to keep me away from everyone. He even monitored my calls, texts, and emails. At the time Myspace was still a big social media platform so I was allowed to post things on there but he had to be included. I used this to my advantage as much as possible to let my friends and family know I was alive. During this time he was letting me talk to two of my family members ( again very closely monitored). They would talk to me and keep me updated on everything plus relay any messages I had. Keep in mind this is my first time ever having to deal with anything like this so I am just in survival mode trying to figure things out as I go. Toward the end of 2010 my father had a battle with pancreatitis. My aunt and mother called to have him atleast bring me to see my dad becuase he was in ICU. The beatings had already started but compared to what was to come they were minimal and most of the time I was able to talk him down after a few hits. All I could think with that call was ok now I can finally just hide behind my family. Boy was I wrong. Even with me going to my aunts and going between her house and my mom's to get a peak at my boys he came and snatched me back up. I was beaten all the way from where they live to Panama City which was around 6 hours of on and off again beatings. Keep in mind this is basically the short story to this hell event. During the time we were traveling all around and I mean everywhere in the south just about I was in and out of hospitals for concussions and kidney issues. I was living out of a car and homeless. There were a few times we had longer places to stay but that never lasted long due to his temper and the problems that came with it. All that time I was being made to panhandle money and pretty much used as a pitty party because of the bruising on my face. I would just hope and pray that someone would know that I was not just fighting for money or beat up by strangers which are the stories he would tell people. Nobody ever did not even the police. In 2011 on Valentine's day I decided I was going to try and just dart! We were living in Panama City and I had made friends with the neighbors. I was hoping if I could make it outside after being locked in and being watched like I was in high max prison that they would see him do something finally and I could go home! I was going to just leave my car and not chance finding the keys. I did not even make it past the kitchen to get out the door. I was grabbed by him beaten and tied up with a box fan cord so tight that my hands started turning colors due to lack of blood flow. He then did the r word and beat me and my dog who had tried to bite him for hitting me.

Thank you so so much for the engineer headcanons! If I could request again for Niki Lauda? Could I get HCs for them reestablish physical affection/intimacy after his accident? Like I imagine his (gn) partner would have to be careful not to hurt him when the burns are still fresh & he might recoil a bit after seeing the scarring (& hearing people talk about it like in the movie) until they remind him like ‘hey I know a lot of things have changed but the fact I love you isn’t one of them’ & maybe they end up more affectionate than before - 🦇
Tumblr media
Of course! Thank you for the requests bat anon, they are always so detailed! 😊
- The crash was the subject of all your nightmares. Every night you would wake up to see him crashing all again. Seeing his body disappear in the fire. You could feel the harrowing feeling of sickness and worry as they drag his unmoving body out of the car. Even at the distance they kept you at, you could see the blood, the melted skin and you knew things would never be the same.
- Now you were sitting next to his body in the hospital. It had been four days and he has still not woken up. You held his hand in yours as he laid there, and it was odd but you don't think you had ever held his hand this long before. Physical intimacy, apart from times in the bedroom, was rare for him. You knew he cared for you, he just didn't understand how often you needed to be reassured or treated nicely because of it
- Bandages covered his face tightly to the point where you could hardly see him. Maybe that was the point. When you had asked about the injuries on his face the doctors grimaced. They didn't want to tell you the extent of it and that was enough for you to know it was bad. They assured you that they had worked hard to heal it, treat the injuries as best as they could but the scaring would still remain.
- You were by his side when you felt his hand twitch in yours. You instantly looked over to see his eyes fluttering open. Pain swarming them instantly but when they glanced over to see you, there was a relief.
- You quickly went to get the doctors who told you to wait outside while they checked upon him. When they were done though you were allowed back in and you refused to leave for four hours. You rambled to him about anything, said anything in your mind, how worried you were for him, how much you loved him, how you would never leave him. He could hardly speak back, just gurgle but the way he squeezed your hand in his was enough for you to know he appreciated it. He appreciated more than you would ever know.
- It pained you to hear the yelps of pain coming from him as they removed the bandages. The way he grunted, practically screaming out in pain every time they moved a little bit from his burns. It broke your heart. You loved Niki and you loved the passion he had for the sport but at that moment, seeing how pained he was, you wished nothing more than that he never took up racing again.
- But it was Niki Lauda. Of course, he would. Much sooner than anyone had anticipated.
- You were with him every step of the recovery and you begged him not to, or at least wait till next year when he had recovered more but he couldn't wait, not when he was seeing James Hunt win those races and in the end, you didn't have the heart to tell him no. It made you worry with sick seeing him go back into that car again, his burns still aching as he wore the helmet but you were also so proud of him. So proud of his determination, courage, strength.
- Things were harder for the two of you though in many ways, especially intimately. Before while he lacked affection outside of the bedroom, she certainly made up for it inside. What they said about F1 drivers was true, even out of the car they had to go fast, and with the pent, frustration, he had every time James won a race or annoyed him, he would express with you that night, if you even made it to the bedroom that is.
- But since the accident, it was like his sex drive had vanished. At first, you were careful around him, anxious you might hurt him and that's why for the first few months but after that, you tried to instigate something he would brush it off, or even worse he would leave the room. He chooses to sleep on the sofa rather than in a bed with you when you tried to start something and it hurt you for you didn't know what was wrong. Did he not find you appealing anymore?
- The press were always following you and Niki, speculating about the two of you. Both you and Niki were private people and that's why the news wanted to know everything about the two of you. Now with Niki looking the way he did they were nothing if not tormenting towards you and Niki. Rumours speculated about the deterioration of your marriage, that you were cheating on him, even some claiming you were cheating on him with James!
- Everything came ahead one day in a press conference. "What did your partner say when they saw your face?" the journalist confronted Niki. You were watching from the sidelines and felt dread and anger pool in you from those words. "They said, sweeties, you don't need a face to drive. Only a right foot"
- Niki was good at laughing things off, he was brash, straight to the point but this journalist wouldn't let go of this. "I'm being serious. Do you really think your marriage can survive? With the way you look now?"
- The room became dead silent as anger flickered in Niki's eyes. "And I'm being serious, too. Which of your assholes said this?" but no one dared to speak up, "Fuck you, press conference is over" he spat out, tearing his microphone off and quickly storming out of the room where you swiftly followed.
- You called out to him yet he continued to walk. It was only when you grasped ahold of his hand did he finally stop to talk, and even then he refused to look at you, instead glaring at the side. "Niki what have I done wrong?" you murmur. "Was it something I said?" you ask but he shakes his head, "No love, it's not you" "Then what?" you ask attempting to raise your hand to cradle his face but he flinches away from your touch but he finally looks you in the eyes. "Isn't it obvious? I'm not stupid. I know I look like shrivelled walnut. I don't want you to pity fuck me or pretending to like how I look"
- "I don't care about your appearance Niki. I'm not fickle like that. I love you for who you are, the asshole underneath. Now stop being such a cry baby and kiss me already" you argue, a new fire in your eyes determined to make Niki realise just how much you care.
- He looks back at you with admiration, his doubts about himself, his appearance slowly flowing away as he looks into your lustful eyes. Leaning down he finally kisses you and in the backrooms of the garage, you lose yourself to each other, letting out all the pent us lust you two had.
- After that, you two were more affectionate, more than before his accident. Hand holding, hugs, kisses. He showed you with everything after realising just how much you cared for him and how much he loved you back. Even the press were posting news articles where they got pictures of you two being affectionate and for once you two didn't mind being in the public eye, as long as everyone knew how in love you two were and how you weren't going to let each other go.

New Year's night (Thoma x Reader)
For work reasons and a whim, you are trapped in Inazuma, fortunately and with the help of a certain blonde fixer you are free to walk wherever you want in the nation. However, even if you are now completely settled in an unknown nation, there is something that you had not considered in your plans: you will spend the New Year's night completely alone.
Warnings: Childhood friends to lovers troupe. Thoma may be too soft on this one, but anyways. Mentions of loneliness. Readers gender is not specified. Fluff, fluff and fluff (?
-----------------------
It was on nights like this that you enjoyed remembering your childhood in Mondstat. When you and Thoma were out hunting cristalflies to put their cores as decorations in the morning and in the afternoon you would prepare for New Year's dinner. He helped you choose your best dress and you helped him comb his hair.
"What do you expect next year, Thoma?" You asked the same question every year, while gently detangling his hair with your fingers.
"Hmm ... I don't know, right now there is nothing I want more than a good cake" and like every year, that was his answer "And that we remain friends, of course" you both laughed at his answer. Every year it was the same and you knew he was going to answer the same thing as always, but no matter how many years she repeated it, you really liked listening to it.
Until one day, you didn't listen to it anymore.
Time has passed, a lot of things have changed through it, many years have come and gone. And now you were in Inazuma, at a milk stand with a bottle of dango milk in hand, watching as everyone ran home to their families, ready to have a New Years dinner. This was the first New Year you spent outside of Mondstat and far away from your family, you had sent them a letter, but you never knew if it reached them or if it was even sent.
You walked to the beach of the island and looked at the horizon, whenever you missed Mondstat you came here, to imagine that on the other side of the sea there was someone doing the same, missing you.
You closed your eyes and let the salt water caress your feet, relaxing you. Maybe you could go to a restaurant for dinner, if they were open, maybe you could buy something and take it with you. You thought about going to see what Arataki Itto and his gang were doing, but you thought it would be very rude to show up uninvited. You also thought about what your dear friend Thoma would be doing, or ask him for advice on how to survive loneliness, but you also assumed that he would be too busy preparing New Year's dinner for the Kamisato, it made you remember that he was not alone.
Beyond envy, you felt calm, your friend was in good hands. Every year after Thoma left to Inazuma, your New Year's wish was always the same: May Thoma be okay. And apparently it had been fulfilled.
"Y / n!" You heard your name in the distance, but you didn't know if it was real or if it was the 5 bottles of dango milk you had "Y / n!" The voice was getting closer and closer, so you turned around and got a pleasant surprise when you saw him running towards you.
"Thoma?" Suddenly all those melancholic clouds dispersed, it felt like the sun had risen after a long storm "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be helping the Kamisato?"
Thoma leaned on your shoulders as soon as he was close to you and took some time to catch his breath "I finished everything as fast as I could and went out looking for you, you are hard to find" he let out a tired laugh. When he finally recovered, he took your hand and showed you that warm smile that melted you inside "What do you want to do? We can go to the Kiminami restaurant to buy food, or we can go to Ritou if you miss the Mondstat wine ..." while he spoke and gave his huge list of options, you looked at him clearly confused "... After we eat we can see the fireworks and we can feed the animals, what do you think?"
"What?" You tilted your head in confusion, sure you hadn't heard half of what he said "Isn't New Years dinner today?"
"That's right" he nodded and took your hand tighter "What do you want to do? ... Unless of course, you already have plans" he laughed nervously. He hadn't thought of that until now.
You quickly shook your head "No! Not at all ... but ... Don't you have to be with the Kamisato?"
"I asked them to give me the night off and they agreed, so now I'm all yours" your cheeks immediately reddened, but you kept your composure and calm "let's go to the city first, do you agree?" He led you back to the town "We can play hot pot at the Komore tea house! We haven't played, right?" You shook your head and he smirked "Trust me, you're going to like it a lot"
After a terrible and hard-fought round of Hot pot, Thoma ended up on the floor, with a terrible stomach ache, but laughing at the horrible things he put in the pot. You had no words, you never thought that the blonde would be so competitive when it comes to playing hot pot.
"I feel terrible" he complained under his breath "I think I shouldn't have eaten that much" he leaned his head on your shoulder. You let out a reassuring laugh and patted him on the head "I think quantity is the last thing you should worry about, I still don't know what that crunchy thing you put in the pot was"
He closed his eyes and let himself be carried away by the intimacy of the moment "If I told you you wouldn't eat with me again, you'd better leave it like that" he was silent for a few moments, something strange for him.
"If you feel really bad you can lie on my legs" you offered, trying to hide the blush on your cheeks "if you want, of course"
"Really?" He raised his head happily "thank you, Y / n" he smiled and laid his head on your thighs, while your fingers stroked his hair. At that moment, even though you couldn't see it, he had a small smile on his face "Do you remember that when we were little you liked to brush my hair? I never knew why"
You were quiet for a few seconds, but your caresses did not stop, you really loved running your fingers over his hair "well ... I don't know, I guess I always liked your hair" you laughed nervously.
"I see ... I really missed this, you know? Spending this day with you, just like when we were kids" his voice was calm and soft, it even seemed like he was confessing his darkest secrets "I really missed you"
Your heart jumped, you felt a chill through your whole being that made you tremble and you prayed that Thoma wouldn't notice "I missed you too Thoma, a lot"
He lying on your thighs, with a stomach ache he caused and confessing that he had missed you, alone in a tea house in New Years night, this seemed to be the perfect moment to tell him everything that you had not been able to tell him in the past; how much you loved spending time next to him, how much you loved stroking his hair, all those nights when you just wished you could see him again and now that you were with him, you never wanted to let him go, not again.
Your thoughts took a backseat when you heard explosions outside, carefully Thoma stood up to look out through the window. The fireworks show had already started.
"Come" he called you and you stood next to him "Those are the Naganohara fireworks, I bet you've never seen anything so spectacular" you agreed. You had seen a fireworks display before, but none as beautiful as the ones that night. You did not know if it was the beauty of Naganohara's work or the fact that Thoma was by your side.
"Thoma" you broke the silence that had formed "What do you expect for the next year?" He turned to see you and without warning he wrapped you in a warm hug that did not take you long to return "May we remain friends" he whispered in your ear.
You smiled. That was exactly what you wanted to hear.

divine omniscience [Sukuna X Reader]
“Do you guys think it’s true? What Gojou-sensei said?” Nobara asks out of the blue as she casually munches on a fry that certainly was not from her tray.
“You gotta be more specific, dude,” Yuuji replies, speaking with his mouth half-full of burger. She scrunches her nose at him as she reaches for another one of Megumi’s french fries.
“Y’know when he said all that stuff about Sukuna having only one known trusted companion or whatever. I mean, everything in the texts seems pretty vague, no?”
“Yeah, ‘companion’ is not the kind of word I’d associate with someone like him.” Megumi chips in, pushing his tray closer to the girl sitting opposite him.
“Kinda wanted to ask if they meant it sexually but I swear he’ll just start giggling and wasting our time.”
The three friends continue to chatter on about their theories and interpretations of their earlier class’s contents, all the while completely unaware of the fourth party listening in–the one who is actually most knowledgeable on the topic they’re so oddly curious about.
Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that you are the one who knows the most, that is if you’re still alive. Though Sukuna doubts you died within the time he was away. You’re too smart for that.
The village chanted, faces obscured behind masks carved from wood and dyed red from the colour of the witch’s blood. Watching from within the shadows, Sukuna felt compelled to observe the ritual, having never felt such a strong surge in cursed energy in his entire existence.
He was proven to have wrongly assumed it was coming from the outraged villagers when they finally set your crucified body alight and a blanket of black cursed energy covered the area, engulfing every single one of the citizens beneath it. Bone-chilling screams and begs for mercy filled his ears, the sound muffled but satisfying to listen to nonetheless.
When the strange turn of events finally came to an end and the energy receded into your bloodied and broken body, the King of Curses himself decided that he’d finally found someone worth his time.
At the end of your torturous life as a human and the start of your existence as a newly born cursed spirit, you were honestly a little too much for Sukuna to handle. Despite having never heard of cursed energy or jujutsu sorcery, you were quick to pick up everything you needed to know and then some.
Not only were you dangerously intelligent, but you were also completely unphased by him and his raw power, no matter how much he made sure to display it–whether it be in the form of exterminating a town of people or setting a forest ablaze with just a snap of his fingers.
“Scared yet?” he would ask, a smug grin on his face. You would smile back without a hint of sarcasm or dishonesty.
“No,” you’d reply without a second thought, “because I know you will never hurt me.”
What Sukuna initially assumed was well-hidden arrogance turned out to be a mere fact you were stating. A piece of truth you’d gained due to the nature of your ever-growing curse technique. Outwardly, the King could deny it all he wanted to, he could threaten you day and night, grab your throat and tighten his grip just to prove you wrong but he would never–has never–done any harm unto you.
When he had come to accept that as the truth, he tried deluding himself into believing he kept you around merely for your wealth of knowledge and powerful supply of cursed energy. Those were, in fact, his reasons at the start of it all–they were why he even walked into the village that fateful day and used his reverse cursed technique on you.
“You can say that all you want,” you once said, reaching up to wipe the blood off his face with your sleeve while the same red substance stained your own skin, “but we both know the main reason you keep me by your side.”
He did not respond.
Instead, he scoffed and grabbed your chin with one hand before raising the other and mimicking your gesture. With an uncharacteristic tenderness, Sukuna wiped the blood off your face with his thumb as the cries of the dying soldiers around you slowly faded to nothing.
“Their name was (Y/N).” His voice echoes shortly within the confines of Yuuji’s dark bedroom.
“What?” the sorcerer blearily murmured, having been on the verge of falling asleep when the King of Curses himself decided to speak.
“My companion… though, they would have preferred the word ‘partner’... was named (Y/N).”
“Why’re you telling me this?” Yuuji groaned, rubbing his eyes.
“The inaccuracies your teachers spread to your friends are painful to listen to,” Sukuna scoffs. “Frankly, it’s insulting and disrespectful.” The cursed spirit’s choice of vocabulary throws his vessel off guard.
“... You must’ve liked them a lot, huh?” Yuuji responds, voice softer than before as he feels his initial frustration of being denied his sleep fading away. “It’s weird to imagine someone like you feeling indignant on someone else’s behalf.”
“Well,” Sukuna smirks to himself, “let’s just say they’re the only one I have any respect for in this godforsaken world.”
“He plans on betraying you,” you stated matter-of-factly, opening your eyes for the first time throughout the entire meeting.
Sukuna had called forth a few powerful cursed spirits under the pretence of forming an alliance, with his true intentions being to simply size them up and subtly intimidate them into leaving his newfound territory alone–if they valued their lives, that is. He didn’t need to tell you of his plans and he knew he didn’t have to for you to understand it completely.
The cursed spirit you’d singled out widened his eyes before his expression turned hostile. “Don’t spout bullshit! I’ve done nothing but agree with everything Sukuna-sama has said!”
Sukuna watched the events unfold silently, unable to help but feel something in his chest swell with warmth as he observed you.
“I know everything.” Your simple reply was enough to enrage the spirit who shot out of his chair and seemingly began to lunge in your direction.
“You fucking wh–!” he cried.
Where his head used to sit was a neck sliced cleanly through the middle as everyone in the room felt a gust of wind brush past their terrified faces. The only outliers were you and the perpetrator of the murder himself, both smiling as one would out on a walk on a pleasant afternoon. His skull bounces twice on the tatami flooring before it disappears alongside his body.
“That was a bit much, don’t you think, Sukuna?” The other cursed spirits practically break out in a cold sweat upon hearing you so daringly speak to the King of Curses after such a display of his power.
“That was merciful, my dear,” he responded casually, reaching out a clean hand to wipe away the droplets of blood that had reached your face. Still touching you, he turned to the others. “Does anyone else have anything to say?”
“No, they’re terrified,” you laugh when they fail to respond, all still shaking where they sat.
“Good–”
“Of me.”
He scrunches his nose and softly pushes your face away but a smile still creeps onto his face as he thinks to himself, ‘as they should be.’
Nobara and Megumi would find it hard to believe had the information not come directly from Yuuji’s mouth, as well as the additional mouth that had unceremoniously popped up on his cheek mid-conversation.
“You’re saying everything wrong!” Sukuna had exclaimed after making his appearance and refusing to leave until Yuuji had gotten all the facts right.
When he was finally satisfied, he still didn’t leave right away, sensing the two sorcerers wanted to know more. “Well?” He prompts. “Just ask your fucking questions already, we don’t have all day.”
“If you put it like that… then I’ll just ask it as it is and you’re not allowed to get all pissy, ‘kay?” Nobara responds. Megumi and Yuuji share a nervous glance.
“How’re you so sure they’re not dead?”
He wished he hadn’t left you on such a bad note; that he didn’t spit at your feet and push you away when you tried to stop him from leaving the temple in which you both sought refuge. He wished he’d at least bade you a proper farewell and that his last words to you didn’t consist of him questioning your abilities just so he could keep his ego intact.
As Sukuna laid dying, surrounded by Japan’s most powerful sorcerers, he realised, finally, that he would never see you again; or feel your hand wipe at his face after another victorious battle.
For the first time in his life, the King of Curses shed a tear.
The braver sorcerers scoffed, some even taunted him, assuming he was merely afraid of death, whereas the warier ones hesitated in approaching him to deliver the final blow, taken aback by the uncharacteristic gesture. Still, with his immense cursed energy forming a protective barrier around him as a last resort, the sorcerers hadn’t won the battle quite yet.
A few minutes later, in fact, they lost it.
Sukuna remains silent, pondering over Nobara’s question. As promised, he didn’t show his anger and hid his grief even better. Truth be told, he doesn’t know if you’re alive.
“I told you not to go,” you spoke, voice trembling as you rested his head in your lap, your hands wiping the blood off his face. “I told you you’d die, didn’t I? Why didn’t you listen? Why?”
The sound of your soft sobs mingled with the noise from outside the pitch-black barrier you’d placed around the both of you. The sorcerers who survived your ambush were chipping away at your cursed energy shield and it was only a matter of time before they would break through.
“Even after all I said to you before I left,” Sukuna murmurs, relishing in the feeling of your skin against his, “this is what you choose to scold me over?” He let out a weak chuckle.
“I know of your grief and regret, I know you’re sorry and I’ve long forgiven you.”
“Thank you, my (Y/N).” He turned his head to press his lips against your palm for the final time. “Now go. You have to escape before the damned sorcerers force their way in.”
“No.” Your defiant tone juxtaposed with your tear stricken face amused him. “I’ll be here to see you off and then I’ll kill them all.” You leaned forward to kiss his forehead. “I’ll wait for your return, my love.”
When Sukuna refused to answer Nobara’s question and promptly disappeared, the trio assumed that was the end of it all. As much as they wanted to leave the information behind them, they still find themselves talking about it as they wait in line at a new sushi place that opened near the school.
“Kinda weird he was so insistent on telling us everything, huh?” Yuuji remarks.
“I highly doubt that was close to everything, though.” Megumi scratches the back of his head. “It felt like he was withholding a lot, like when he didn’t answer Nobara’s question.”
“Yeah, that was pretty lame,” she says with a pout. “I really wanna know if they’re alive or not. I mean, their whole story was pretty interesting but imagine how scary it’ll be if (Y/N) was still alive and in Japan after all this time.”
“Table for three, please,” Yuuji says to the staff at the counter once it’s their turn. They stare at him for a brief moment before a happy yet somehow sinister smile stretches across their face. The jujutsu sorcerer feels his blood run cold as he feels Sukuna suddenly begin to vie for control over his body.
“Finally,” you whisper, body and soul flooded with sheer relief as tears run down your face. You reach your hand out to touch Yuuji’s face and though he tries his very hardest to turn away and run, he finds his body frozen in place. “I’ve been waiting for you, my love.”

Tumblr media
Champagne showers your throat, its cool bubbles rippling inside you and all the way down your body. Your hips sway as you make your way through the tightly packed group of people. Laughter surrounds you as you re-join the dancing fray. A green-eyed model grabs you around the waist, his hands grabbing the thin material of your dress. The end of your dress dances over your high-heeled feet, you twist in the model’s arms and sway against him. Your back presses against him and he holds you tighter.
He whispers something in your ear, something or another about leaving with him to ‘fuck’ on the beach. You barely hear it over the music. Your eyes scanning over your friends that are sprawled around the room, all of them dressed in their finest threads. You would have taken him up on the offer, had it not been for the fact that you have been dating a particular Hollywood leading actor. You’d rather not have any outright fight at a party you’re enjoying because of ‘cheating’.
You move away from the model’s tight hold; you can almost hear his sigh. You dance over to a friend who beckons you to come with her to the bar. You gladly follow, reaching the bar takes a few minutes due to the crowd clambering over their drinks. You finally reach the bar; you lounge on the mirrored countertop. The barman approaches you, “Death in the Afternoon.” You wink at him, he smiles politely.
You turn and scan the room your eyes glazing the room, you catch sight of your date, hiding in a nook. He raises a glass to you, and you turn away from him. Drinking the sight of the partying people fills your stomach, many of them can’t help but stare at you, your presence like a diamond in the rough.
And there he is.
Your breath catches in your throat.
His arm draped across the shoulders of a tanned brunette; her eyes unmoving - glued to his. His lips ghost over hers, they way they used to do to your lips; giggles are whispered through her lips. Wearing a full suit with an undone bow tie strung around his neck - he looks like a drunken dream.
You want him.
He hasn’t noticed you. Or is pretending that he hasn’t.
It’s been six months since that night. You barely remember it; you were so intoxicated - on alcohol and Diazepam. An entirely irresponsible mixture, you try to pretend to yourself that you don’t know why you took what you did; but you know why. It was the only way that you had the courage to do what you did. Otherwise, you’d be with—
“One Death in the Afternoon.” The muscular barman places the crystal flute in front of you, you let a smirk grace your lips. If you weren’t in the same room as your date, you’d fuck him. But you’re trying to change.
You turn back in his direction, your friend also spots him, she promises that she’ll do everything to keep you guys apart. Your friends and family were informed of an amicable break-up with tears shed on both sides - by him. The media reported something similar - both PR teams sending well wishes to the other party and asking for privacy for those involved.
You weren’t aware of the amicable breakup until the email was forwarded to you by your PR head. You had blocked his number, but he had blocked you in every other way possible; you won’t pretend that it was unwarranted. Nor will you pretend that it didn’t hurt, but you couldn’t begin to imagine how much he was hurt.
You’ve done worse, but you don’t think you’ve ever done it to someone you actually loved.
You find yourself back in the folie of dancing, your dress billowing around your legs, its silky touch caressing your skin. You catch sight of the tanned brunette entering the dance floor; he’s following her, his hands toying with her waist.
They dance closely, his eyes roaming her body hungrily. You feel like vomiting. This isn’t fair. You close your eyes and knock your head back, willing the horrible sight away. The songs change twice before you open your eyes properly, your eyes immediately lower to where he is. Their lips are locked, their eyes shut off from the party, his hands dance on her arse.
You are most definitely going to throw up.
You rush away from the crowd, attracting concerned gazes, brushing off the offers of help, you finally manage to leave the house. You edge towards the pool and double over, you dry heave over the grass. You will the vomit up, but it is to no avail. You move away from the tennis style grass and make your way through the garden. Your walk leads you to the sea just beyond the expansive garden. The sky is a warm umber, the setting sun barely visible.
You don’t know how long you’ve been stood there, but you feel a presence behind you. You pray it’s not your date - demanding you keep him company.
You turn and feel your heart stop.
He looks beautiful. It’s the most undeniable beauty you’ve ever seen. He makes your heart throb.
Your heart swells, a feeling you’ve only ever felt once blanketing your heart.
Longing.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to trust someone so much ever again.” His voice is husky, his accent very noticeable. “I couldn’t figure out whether speaking to you would be a good idea, but I really wanted to understand,” he sighs deeply, his fingers whisking out a pack of Marlboros out of his pocket, “even a slither of your psyche.” He lights one cigarette and exhales.
You watch him intently but divert your gaze when he looks at you. “What do you mean?” You whisper. Your courage has left you, and your confidence has set itself on fire.
He nudges the cigarette towards you, “I know you’re more of a vogues girl, but you’re going to have to forgo that right now.” You take the offered cig and pop it in between your lips. It tastes of him somehow and you want to die. “I’ve been fucked up since I left Massachusetts, unbelievably so. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way.” He takes a tremulous breath.
You’re frozen. The cigarette needing to be ashed, he takes it from your fingers. He takes a swift inhalation. “I may have developed a mild dependency on alcohol… and on you. I can’t go to parties without thinking of you. I can’t get out of bed without thinking of you, I can’t breathe — without thinking of you.” His breathing is steady, his words stronger than the wind carried by the sea. You can’t breathe, his words taking the majority of your oxygen, he hands you back the cigarette.
“If I hadn’t done it then, you would have done it first.” You shiver with the cold breeze from the surf. If you could choose between kissing him or dissipating, you would choose to dissipate right into the sand.
His eyes flash across to you, his irises seething with anguish and droplets of anger. “It’s not a race, it never should be.” His hiss cuts across your chest, almost shattering your pearls. “I loved you, like I’ve never loved anyone.” His words make you look at him. The eyes that haunt your dreams are there, right there, less than a step away. The wind brushes his tendrils of golden hair across his face, he looks like a kaleidoscope manifested into flesh. “But I hate you now, in ways I have never hated someone.”
You feel like you’ve been stabbed in the neck.
You can feel a tear slip past your eyelashes, and you almost curse the skies. “That’s fine.” You choke quietly, your voice on the cusp of being drowned by the waves.
“I’ve moved on. I’m happy.” He sighs, he dashes the cigarette stub into the ocean, his hands going back into his pockets. His eyes don’t shift away from yours. “But you haunt me.” He looks away, towards the darkened horizon. “If I could choose between you dying or the Boston bomber - I would choose you.”
Your eyes widen with horror.
You’ve never been confronted with the pain you’ve caused. It’s never bothered you that men would desperately try to tarnish your image in salacious magazines. But this, this hurt you. Finally.
You can’t stop the tears now. You sink into the sand. The water washes against the borders of your legs. You choke a sob back.
“I’m sorry.” Your voice is small and dejected.
“That’s alright.” He’s lit another cigarette. He sits down next to you, offering you a toke. You take it, peaking at him from under your eyelashes.
Looking up at him, you’re met with a longing gaze.
You’re going to wonder forever what’s possessed him, but his lips find yours. They’re the light at the end of the tunnel and following the path to it guarantees his survival.
The embrace is bittersweet, sprinkled with pleasant familiarity. The taste of smoke tendrils dances between your tongues. His fingers swim in your hair, greedily pulling you deeper into his kiss. You want to die in his arms, it would be indeed the heavenliest way to die. You grab his shirt and hold on for dear life, his wine-soaked tongue intoxicating you further. Fireworks explode behind your eyelids and you sink further into him.
He breaks away from the kiss. His eyes riddled with unspoken secrets.
He stands up, his hand extending towards you. Lifting you to your feet and taking your hand in his, he begins to sway with you to the muffled music coming from the house. His hand rests above your bum, comfortably leading you in this dance. You lean your head against his chest, inhaling the smell of cologne and Marlboro Reds. The smell that used to wake you up on holiday weekends. A tear slips from your eye, a manifestation of your longing and your need for him.
Why do hurt people, hurt people?
You recall the day your father left your mother for dead.
“Where’s mum going, daddy?” You look up at the towering figure of your father.
His stern gaze remains on the distressed woman being handcuffed to the gurney. He brushes off your question with a glare embalmed with stone. You gulp and return your stare to your screaming mother; you rush to her, but a paramedic stops you in your tracks. Your mothers begs your father to let her go, her cries echoing around the front garden. Her roses seemingly wilt in sympathy for their weeping creator. She screams and fights against the paramedics, your father doesn’t wait until the doors of the ambulance have been closed before he closes the front door.
You rush to the living room window, standing beyond the curtain with your face pressed against the glass, you watch your mother being driven away.
You’ll never see her again and never know where she took her last breaths; and you’ll be transferred to board at your school. You see your father annually and eventually he leaves you for retirement in South Africa, you’re alone and unloved.
So, you steal hearts so that your own can heal.
Chris breaks your dance, his hypnotising spell diluted by the distance imposed by his now hardened glare. He turns and leaves, his shadow furthering away from your own. You watch in astonishment as he leaves you, cigarette smoke billowing away from his receding figure.
You can’t help the stream that washes your cheekbones.
He’s done the impossible - broke you.

It’s a Start
Scenario:  As a humble store owner in Marley, you get the surprise of your life when the nightmare from Paradis, the one acclaimed as their strongest soldier, drops by to buy tea leaves. Needless to say, you were equally surprised he was strangely mesmerizing. Post-rumbling.
Pairing: Levi Ackerman x reader
There he was.
The strongest known menace from the formerly thought home of devils, Paradis Island. The indestructible soldier who cut through the wonder boy Zeke like he was cutting butter. The unforgiving soul who personally took down numbers of Marleyan men and women. Now an acclaimed hero of this war.
You expected differently.
Of course, you've heard of his condition. He was not exactly crippled, but not exactly in his top shape either. The man looked quite docile in his wheelchair. Quietly, he examined each tea canister from your shop with a scrutinizing eye.
From where you were standing by the counter, you could make out the barely perceptible downward curve of his lips. He returned the tea leaves before he moved to the next shelf.
From the friends you had from the military, you've heard countless horror stories about this man. Versions after the other, a few more grisly than the other. You supposed you should be terrified that a former enemy had come into your store, even if he was unarmed and injured.
Commonsense told you to keep your distance, but curiosity is one enticing lady who relentlessly whispered sweet nothings into your ear.
When he seemed to be having a hard time reaching for the Ceylon tea, you decided to silence these voices and make your approach.
Levi Ackerman immediately bristled when he sensed you coming. You eyed him for a second before grabbing the said canister and handing it over.
"This one's harvested from Ludwig Orchard," you told him. "If you like strong tea, then this is a good choice."
Levi considered you, one eye clouded over while the other layered with intensity unlike you've ever seen before. Scars decorated his face. One long one stretched from his forehead down to his chin. Even so, he was beautifully flawed. These were such odd words to describe him, but at the moment, you couldn’t think of any other fitting description.
You tried not to be rude by staring, so you shifted your gaze to the canister in his hand.
"I do like strong tea."
You were mildly surprised he had a smooth voice. It was nowhere near gentle, but neither was it gruff like you imagined. In fact, it was nice to listen to.
"But I've bought too many of those types already," he continued, weighing the can in his hand. "I’m trying to look for a milder one and appealing to the taste of most people.”
“I see.”
Giving you a small nod, he handed the Ceylon back to you.
“Are you opening a tea shop around?” you asked.
Levi took another canister from the lower shelf and brought it in front of his face. “You can say that.”
You let him scan the descriptions written behind each choice, wondering whether you should just leave him be. But it wasn’t often that a man like him dropped by in a measly store like yours.
“Why are you still here?” you dropped the bomb.
His hand froze midway in the air. He cast you one wary glance before proceeding on returning the tea. “Care to elaborate?”
“Levi Ackerman, the notorious Eldian captain. Once our sworn enemy. I don’t understand why someone like you would want to stay in Marley after all that’s happened.”
He was left in silent contemplation. You could tell he was weighing the words in his mind. Was it safe to speak to a seemingly harmless store owner like you? Or were you a spy? You knew the volatile situation his people were still in. The aftermath of Eren Jaeger’s rumbling was still fresh in the minds of many.
You sighed, “I’m sorry. That was very intrusive of me.”
“I can't go home,” he said, surprising you with an honest reply. “The unrest in Eldia remains unresolved. In my state, I’d probably be more of a liability than an asset.”
You nodded, crossing your arms and leaning towards the shelf. “I understand. Must be rough staying in enemies’ territories, huh?”
“You could say that,” he shrugged, “Although technically, we aren’t enemies anymore.”
“Do you really mean that?” you said before you could stop yourself.
He raised a brow at you. “What makes you think I don’t.”
“Well… it’s obvious, right? There’s no way we could be friends after just one night.”
“I never said we were.”
“You killed many of my people,” you spat, suddenly feeling the lividity that enraptured your heart just a few years ago. “Bombed Liberio. Slit the throat of my friends. Took many innocent lives of your own.”
A glare crossed his face. You’d be lying if you said he wasn’t at all terrifying. Levi placed both hands on the handle of his wheelchair and supported himself up. Eyes widening, you backpedal a few steps when he started limping towards you.
Handicapped or not, you knew he could still effortlessly snap your spine into two.
He stopped a few inches from you, staring you down with a mixture of coldness and despair. You didn’t think anyone could ever stare with such strong emotions. Your blood froze and your heart roared at his proximity, but despite that, you couldn’t bring yourself to look away from this enigma.
“Mister Ackerman---”
“Levi,” he corrected you.
“Levi,” you swallowed. “I apologize. I did not intend to antagonize you.”
“What you’re telling me is valid,” he said. “I’m not about to beg for forgiveness because I believe I can never atone for all the things I’ve done, but I’m asking for understanding. Your people tried to annihilate us, and we had no other choice but to fight back for our own survival. Regardless, I apologize. For all the lives I’ve taken.”
You took in his bowed head, closed fists and tightly shut eyes. The sincerity in his voice was hard to miss, but so was the still blazing rage he had for the spilled blood. You doubted the scars in his face and body were the only scars he had.
Such a strong man. Such fragility he also held.
You took in some air and exhaled, “Please raise your head.”
When he did, your eyes connected. With pursed lips, you took a canister of Oolong tea and shoved it in his palm. He looked at it and shot you a questioning glance.
“A peace offering,” you blurted out bashfully, “It’s on the house. I bet people would love drinking this one. It’s a classic favorite around here after all.”
“Are you sure? For all I know, you could be sabotaging my business,” he muttered.
“Business is business!” you gasped, accidentally slapping his arm purely out of reflexes. “I don’t take things personally, besides…”
You flashed him an accepting, genuine smile, “I understand what you’re saying, Levi. I can’t forgive you or your people. The same for you towards us. But this is a start.”
He didn’t smile. He didn’t nod. He didn’t open his mouth to reply. However, the mere softening of his eyes washed you with warmth. Levi tucked the canister under his arm and ambled back to his wheelchair. He was about to turn when you both heard footsteps approaching.
“Levi-san! I’ve been looking all over for you! Gabi said one moment you were beside her, the next moment you vanished.” The young man frowned deeply at Levi, one hand on his hip. “Please tell us next time if you wanted to go somewhere.”
Levi clicked his tongue, “I did, but she was so busy choosing rings at the stall.”
“Rings?” the kid gasped, blushing. He started wheeling Levi to the direction of the exit when he placed a hand on the kid’s arm and turned to you.
He held your gaze, delicately, surprisingly so, “What’s your name?”
Your heart skipped a beat. When you’ve recovered, you laughed, dazed with everything that’s just happened.
“Go out of the store and check the sign. You’ll see my name.”
“Alright.”
“Levi,” you said, “Come again.”

Nothing But The Best
Author Notes: once again I apologize for how long this took to update. Schedule is still hectic and will remain so for the following month or so. But fear not. I shall continue to update at least once a week. Once again reblogs and comments are appreciated!
XVI
Our ability to survive depends on our skill to change and adapt. Everything in life is about transformation.
The drastic changes in your life seemed like a never ending avalanche of heart break and tough decisions… once again, transformation.
Your own choices placed you exactly where you were at, there was no one else to blame but yourself.
Satoru chose to remain in New York for another two weeks during which he had invested himself into re-discovering you (in his mind you never stopped being his. In the sanctuary of his thoughts you are always referred to as his wife, his one and only Mrs. Y/N Gojo. The woman of his life and owner of his heart).
Satoru tried a gentle approach with you. Not wanting to push you too far not to leave you alone all together. Using all his knowledge of your personality and preferences he slowly inserted himself in your life once again.
At 5:30am sharp he would meet you at the entrance of your building wearing his training clothes, he wanted to show you he supported you and your career. He would go for a run with you around the park. This, of course evoked memories of when you both first started dating and Satoru would show up to workout with you or take you out to dinner after training.
You got to know he had been working harder to help Yuuji control the curse inside him but it was a hard endeavor. He didn’t have to specifically verbalize it for you to know it was a loosing battle and he felt responsible for it but he was trying his best to find a way to help the boy. You missed the kids, they were like family. So you made sure to ask Satoru to tell them you missed them.
But despite your ex-husband’s best efforts you still wanted to be alone. You needed some clarity, the opportunity to sort out your feelings. Gojo wasn’t particularly thrilled with you pushing him away but he promised to you and himself that he would change and would do an effort to respect your wishes so he gave you your space.
But Satoru wasn’t stupid, he knew you missed Suguru and felt guilty for choosing your own husband (ex-husband) over your best friend.
And that’s why you kept pushing him away. Saying you needed time to think.
His time was running out, he had to return to Japan. At least for now, he had unavoidable responsibilities with his students as well as the rest of his missions. He went to your apartment the night before his flight and explained to you why he had to return but he also promised to come back to New York as soon as possible.
“It’s alright Satoru, I understand… I’m gonna be just fine” you reassured the sorcerer who didn’t look convinced at all about leaving you alone. “Please, at least answer my calls and messages. I’m gonna be worried sick if you don’t” you nodded and then he hugged you tightly, inhaling your intoxicating aroma as if he wanted to commit it to memory. His lips soon found yours and before either of you knew it you were in your bed ripping off each other’s clothes so you could express with your bodies how much exactly you would miss one another.
He had taken you for granted once, he would never make that same mistake.
-
-1 Week Later-
It had been three weeks since you last saw Suguru, he wouldn’t answer your calls, texts nor your emails. You didn’t even know if he was still in New York for that matter. Not knowing was slowly killing you, consumed by guilt you knew you deserved this treatment.
And yet, you wanted to find him and explain… try to make it up to him somehow. He didn’t deserve the pain you had inflicted upon him.
-
From: Kitten 🐱
To: Sugu
I need to talk to you, please give me a chance to explain. I don’t want to lose you Suguru. I know it’s selfish on my behalf but I can’t let you walk away without explaining. Please Suguru.
I miss you.
-
Another message sent, he wouldn’t answer your texts. At least he didn’t block your phone number. (Not yet, supplied your tortured mind)
The whole reason why you held back from actually having sex with Suguru although you both had wanted that very much during the last 6 months was because you wanted to give Geto everything. Not only half of you. He deserved someone who would chose him completely. At least that’s what you knew was right.
You didn’t want to toy with his emotions. Then again Satoru’s sporadic presence in your life didn’t help at all. Everytime he showed up you were back to the beginning.
There was no other way to explain this other than saying…you could never resist him.
-
It was a Monday evening, you just got home after your training at the academy. Sitting on the couch eating some salad when the doorbell rang. You were not expecting anyone. And most importantly someone who didn’t need to be announced by the guard downstairs. There were only two people who could show up at your door in such fashion.
When you opened the door the first thing you saw was a broad torso covered in a very familiar black fitted t-shirt. Long black hair framing a handsome face and those beautiful amber pools looking at you. Without hesitation you threw your arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. Suguru responded to your embrace by surrounding your firmly in his arms lifting you a few inches from the floor.
His sweet lavender and sage scent welcomed your senses once more. It wasn’t until he dried the tears from your cheeks that you realized you had been crying.
“Yo..you are here… Suguru! I am so sorry! I-“ he stopped you by placing his right index finger upon your lips. “You don’t have to say anything. I am here because I have to tell you something important. Come Kitten, let us sit” he took your hand and guided you to the couch where as soon as you both sat next to one another you threw yourself into his arms once more making the raven haired sorcerer chuckle “I missed you too Kitten” he whispers against your h/c tresses.
“Listen…. I was angry… I was mad at you because I thought you would choose me and instead chose Satoru. But these past weeks without you, I have been a wreck to say the least and then I realized… I have always known you loved Satoru from the beginning and that never bothered me before.” Sighing he made a small pause before continuing “Granted… I do resent him for hurting you but I never expected you to completely loose your feelings for him.“ you were about to explain to him that you were trying to sort those feelings out but he interrupted you with a little kiss on your lips “let me finish Kitten” a tender smile spread across his lips making you blush again.
“I realized that I don’t want to renounce to you, I don’t want to give you up. Because there simply is no other person who I want to be with. No one can replace you. And you don’t have to choose between Satoru and me…. At least on my behalf I am ok with sharing you with him. I don’t want to lose you and I don’t want to put you in a position that only will hurt your heart.” Stroking your cheek softly Suguru leaned in and kissed your lips once more, just this time the exchange was sweeter and lasted longer. His tongue teased the entrance to your mouth before fully delving in to revel in your warmth and sweetness. Pulling back and looking into your eyes Geto assured you “I love you… and I want you to be happy. I am not going to make you choose because I don’t want to lose you Y/N”.
To say you were shocked to the core and touched beyond words was an understatement “Suguru… I don’t know what to say…” you start but Geto chuckled
“You don’t have to give me an answer right away.. I und—-“
You cut him by crushing your lips against his, kissing him throughly. Your legs straddled his waist immediately so you could feel his strong and warm body against yours. Was this man even real? I mean… Suguru Geto was a remarkable person but at this point you started questioning your own sanity. Did you make this man up in your imagination? Because you have never met someone sweeter, nor kinder nor more loving than him. And this was without counting all his very alluring physical attributes.
By the time you pulled back you were out of breath and so was he.
Now, the thing was… is this what you wanted? Did you want them both? Wasn’t it too greedy to have them both as lovers?
There was also the possibility Satoru would flat out reject the idea but… you didn’t want to choose between them. You…. Loved them both.
Before you could speak once more you ‘felt’ someone behind you stroking your back.
Almost jumping out of your skin you turned around to find Satoru in his usual jujutsu high uniform sans blindfold.
“You’re late…” Suguru comments as if he had been expecting his best friend to teleport right then.
“I know… Yaga was being a pain in the ass as per usual” added Satoru with a grin before taking a sit next to Suguru with the biggest shit eating grin you could imagine.
“So? Did she agree?” Questioned smirking and moving his hand to stroke your hair away from your neck while you still sat on Suguru’s lap.
“I am not sure… I think we broke her…” added Geto amusedly before chuckling and kissing your cheek.
“I know how to fix that!” Excitedly announced the white haired man. Cupping your face between his hands he pulled you in to kiss you deeply. His tongue voraciously licking the inside of your mouth and enticing you to kiss him back.
This was surreal…. Were you dreaming? You had to be dreaming or maybe you hit your head and now we’re in a coma. Yeah… you have to be hallucinating this.
When Satoru pulled back he laughed “Princess… don’t look so surprised… you must have known this would have happened sooner or later… Sug and I would never give you up and we know you wouldn’t pick one over the other either… and well, we didn’t want to give you the chance to pick neither…” they knew exactly how you were. Even before you knew it yourself. They just knew you would bolt and choose no one if that meant not hurting the other so they had to figure out a solution where all of you were happy.

After your heated argument with Jimin, you find yourself in the small library room, the room that you often find solace in. You sit on the couch, hugging your legs tight before letting the sobs take over.
You set yourself into this. You fall for him even when you know it’s going to cause you pain.
For a long hour, you just cry yourself out until your body is exhausted and you just stare numbly ahead.
And that’s when you decided you’re going to leave.
You force yourself to sleep then because you know your body needs rest. But half an hour later you find yourself constantly twisting your body, unable to sleep as you wait for tomorrow’s morning to come with pounding heart.
When the morning finally comes, you pace back and forth in your room. You couldn’t sleep a wink last night. You lean against the door, listening intently.
Once you figured that it’s safe, you duck out silently and heads upstairs into the bedroom. You don’t see your husband anywhere so it’s a safe bet that he’s already out to work.
Wasting no time, you take out a medium size duffel bag and stuff several pairs of shirts and pants. You dig in the small drawer and takes out some cash that you had kept. For a moment, you contemplate whether you should bring your phone with you but then decide against it because you don’t want to risk being tracked by your husband.
You head downstairs and exit the house silently and from then on, it is fairly easy to escape. Your own bodyguard, Taeseok is nowhere to be seen and thus makes it easier for you to slip through the security as they probably wouldn’t think that you’re escaping.
You weren’t stopped until the front guards and you quickly lie about going to the gym with a friend and he doesn’t seem to be suspicious at all.
For a long time, you just walk and walk and just take random buses and sit on a bench at random parks, just watching people passing by, watching people who doesn’t seem to have any worry in their life although you know everyone is far from having zero complications in their life.
Everyone is working hard.
Everyone is working hard living their life.
And there’s you. A foolish twenty three year old girl, who’d married the leader of a dangerous mafia gang and ended up falling in love with him.
You find tears slipping from your eyes.
Jimin..
You wonder if your husband’s looking for you.
Or perhaps he’s decided to let go whatever it is between the two of you.
Had you just imagine it? Every little act that he does?
Perhaps you should’ve just said yes to your husband’s new proposal. Maybe that could’ve made things easier and you don’t have to deal with immense pain like this from heartache.
But you know that you couldn’t share him. You don’t want to share him with another woman.
You let out a long sigh. This wallowing-in-sadness is really getting nowhere.
You get up then and sees that it’s almost dark, dusk almost setting in with the yellow and orange sky. Somehow, you find yourself on the outskirt of Seoul after all those random routes you’ve taken. You checked into a small budget hotel after searching around the neighbourhood. You plop yourself on the bed once you’ve settled into the small bedroom, briefly wondering what you’re gonna do after this.
You don’t have any plan.
Let alone a huge sum of money.
You close your eyes for few seconds.
Nevermind all that. It’s okay. You’re okay. Everything’s gonna be okay.
You can start slow from the bottom. Find some low paying job and make your way from there. You resolve to go for a job hunt first thing tomorrow morning.
After you finish a long shower that night, you curl yourself on the bed. The mattress is rough, not at all soft and comfy like the one you’re used to sharing with Jimin but it’s okay, you don’t mind it one bit since you’re used to hardship before you even met him.
You marvel at the fact that you’re once again out in streets. Not far from before you met Jimin, really.
And your husband..
You feel a laughter of disbelief bubbles up inside you.
You left your husband. You made the decision to leave him when he couldn’t reciprocate the feelings he’d never promised in the first place so it’s a bit ridiculous that you’re missing him now right?
Unknowingly, your fingers trace your lips. It seems so vivid how your husband had kissed you last night. You’ve never been kissed that way before but then again, you’ve never been kissed by anyone.
You want to blame your husband for putting you through such pain but you know it’s not his fault. The marriage and the relationship you have with him is only temporary so he doesn’t do stupid things like falling in love or become emotionally invested because that would be a waste of his time.
He’d given you the choice yet you’re the one who chooses the wrong way and walks away from the opportunity he’s given.
But is it though? Are you making a mistake right now?
If you had just say yes, you could have everything you want.
Except his heart, of course.
Which is ironically the only thing that you want.
But you know deep down you don’t want to lie to yourself and to him.
It proves easier than said to find work in this small neighbourhood. It’s been four days and you still hadn’t find a job and you’re getting more anxious.
But no matter what, you still have to eat. You’ve survived not eating for days before and you can survive on minimal food consumption so this is definitely not a new feeling. Pursing your lips, you make your way to the grocery store and begins stocking up on several ingredients and paid for it.
You head back out, holding a bag full of groceries. After a few minutes of walking, you suddenly had that eerie feeling of being watched, a feeling that felt so similar to the one that you’ve experienced while at the charity function at Jaehyun’s house a week ago.
Shiver runs down through your body and you’re not sure if it is caused by the cold wind at night which is suddenly stronger or your growing paranoia.
Pulling your jacket tighter, you start to walk faster. It’s daytime, though bleak clouds are looming over you but it’s still bright. Nothing would probably happen in this broad daylight right?
You wish you were right.
Something happens really quickly just then. One moment you’re just turning the corner towards your block and the next moment, you see someone jumps out of a van and clasps your mouth and nose with cloth tightly.
And everything becomes black after that.
You didn’t faint, you think once your brain starts functioning. Perhaps only for a fleeting moment, you think. You blink several times but your vision is still blinded and realize your face is covered with a mask. The hum of the car’s engine and the slight shake of your body tells you you’re in the van you saw and you’re being transported somewhere. It’s quite a long distance and you try to think of possible places from the routes they’re taking but to no avail. You haven’t lived in the neighbourhood for long, it’s impossible to know where they’re bringing you.
The van eventually comes to a halt and suddenly you feel your body being dragged out. Your feet struggles to catch up as the person drags you over the rough gravel of the pavement, the cold wind making you shudder immediately.
“Who are you? Where are you taking me?” You ask and it’s obviously a mistake as a harsh slap lands on your cheek instantly. You wince, feeling blood forming on your lips.
“Shut up, bitch.” The rough voice says.
They make you sit on a chair, your hands tied behind your back. Your throat is very dry and you’ve no idea how long they’ve kept you there. You can’t see anything as your face remains covered.
At some point, you doze off and only wake when someone hit your cheeks, not too rough but still leaves a stinging pain. They uncover your face enough to give you some water and that’s it. You’re left alone again.
You’re not entirely sure if you’ve been hit again because the stinging pain on your lips and cheeks are now numb, you can barely feel them. You’re not sure if you fainted at some point either.
You hear some voices then. And despite the mask you’re wearing, you open your eyes to the darkness.
“Well, well, well.” A familiar voice. Too familiar.
And that’s when the mask covering your face is yanked away and your eyes struggle to adjust to the light.
“Hello little sister.”
Jay.
Your own brother.
Your eyes stare fixedly at him as he smirks at you. He looks pretty decent, his cheeks doesn’t sunk so much, his face cleaner and he dresses normally.
“J-Jay-“ you struggle to say, your throats is still very dry. You swallow several times and try to gather your voice. “What are you doing here?”
“Aww little sis, don’t take that tone with me. Don’t you miss me?” He leans forward and cups both your cheeks forcefully making you whimper in pain. “I’ve missed you a lot.”
You spit on him, forcing him to release you and with a look of rage, he slaps you hard on your right cheek. Your eyes widen when you see few drops of blood splatter on the floor. You think your lips had split in a dozen different parts.
Jay spits and then wipes his face clear. You look around and realize you’re in some abandoned warehouse and there are several other guys looking at the both of you with interest.
Perhaps they’ve never seen a brother so willingly hit his own sister.
“Why are you doing this?”
Jay tongues his cheek before smirking. “I know you’re living with Park Jimin now. You think you’re safe now that you’re living with him? Do you even know what kind of guy he is?”
“He’s my husband.” You answer firmly.
He laughs at that. “Husband? Funny how he can let his wife be kidnapped, huh? But that doesn’t matter. I need your beloved husband here.”
You grit your teeth. “Why?”
“You’re asking why? What- you think he can simply takes you as he wish? He needs to pay me before taking you. And if he doesn’t, I will sell you off anywhere. Anywhere that gives me the most money.”
You scoff. “That’s all you always think about. Money, money and money.”
“Don’t we all? You have all his money yet you won’t even share some for me? Some ungrateful bitch.” He spats.
He then lunges forward and nothing prepares you for another stinging pain as he hit you right on the cheek. “This is for leaving me bitch.” And then another. “And this is for being such a slut.”
You feel your vision momentarily blinds as your eyes roll out and you struggle to remain conscious. “Just kill me.” You croak.
“Kill? No no that’d be too easy little sister.. I want you to suffer what I suffered.. you’re gonna die.. eventually- oh you will. But being the good little sister that you are.. you’re gonna let me have my fun first, gonna cut your pretty little face first and then maybe your fingers.. and your cunt.. did you have sex with him already? Of course you did like the slut you are.. and then I’m gonna let all these men here fuck you and if you’re still alive by then.. we’ll see..”
“You’re psycho.”
“Psycho?” He laughs. “Maybe I am. Maybe after all is done, I’ll give you back to your precious husband and see if he’ll take you back..”
“No..” you say slowly. “He’s gonna come and he’ll tear your limbs before you could say my name.”
“Shut up bitch,” is the last thing he says before he knocks you out again.
The next time you wake, you hear a female voice in between male voices.
“Don’t you think you had too much fun with her? What if she’s dead already? Damn it, missed my chance to have fun..” the female says, her voice also strangely familiar.
The other guy you realise is you brother laughs. “No.. don’t worry.. this bitch is tougher than you think.. how do you think she’s survived years of my beating and still breathing?”
“Maybe you hit like a pussy.”
“God damn it, I wanna stick my cock into your mouth so you’d shut up bitch.”
You hear her laughter.
Your stomach churns and you have this sudden whooping feeling as your eyes finally refocus and widens in recognition of the said female.
Clara Kim.
There’s no mistaking her tall and slender figure, although her hair is now changed to blue color.
How is she related to your brother?
“Someone’s awake.” Clara says as her eyes meet yours. She takes several steps forward and leans down to stare at you from top to bottom. “So this is Jimin’s wife huh... no wonder he’s changed.” She says when she straightens again.
“Not gonna lie.. I like Jimin and so does a thousand other girls out there but I don’t demand his heart. I don’t do shits like relationship and so does Jimin but you- you little witch-“ she pauses then leans forward again, her slender fingers clasps your cheeks, turning it left and right, “Not so pretty now with all these blood and bruises huh?”
You stare at her in disdain. “He’s not gonna come. He doesn’t love me.”
“We’ll see about that.” She smirks.
He’s not gonna come, briefly you think.
“Just kill me, kill me!” You yell and someone knocks you out again.
