𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 - Lando Norris x Actress!Reader (Enemies to Lovers & Fake Dating AU) 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 - Lando Norris really messed up on the first time meeting one of Hollywood's newest and hottest stars, Y/N L/N. But when his reputation gets too bad, she might be the only one who can save his career from being completely doomed. 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐒 - 2.2K | 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 - Swearing 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑'𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒 - My first Lando series! And this time, I promised to finish it all because it's been already mostly written. I was just in need for some cliché shit, and I just threw in some of my favourite tropes together. Hope you have as much fun reading it as I did as writing it!

𝐎𝐍𝐄 - 𝐌𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐔𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍'𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐄
Tumblr media
In a world of celebrities, reputation matters. It doesn’t matter if you’re a singer filling up stadiums, actors earning big awards or a famous race driver, how you are perceived by the public eye is extremely important for your career. Lando Norris knew that. Yet, he continues to fuck things up day after day. The nightclubs, the girls, and the lack of winning on the tracks weren’t doing him any good. It got to the point where it didn’t matter if he did good on the race, climbing from P13 to P2, because, in the end, all everyone talked about was how his personal life was getting in the way of his professional one.
“He’ll never get a win if he continues to party like a teenage boy”, said a comment on one of his Instagram posts.
His PR team wanted to pull their hairs, bending backwards trying to clean off his image and making everyone forget about all of those bad things. As much as Lando tried to keep everything very private, things get leaked when you’re a public person. No secret stays hidden for long, especially if you’re not trying too hard to keep it hidden. But there was an old trick under their sleeves that would probably work, although the McLaren golden boy wouldn’t be very trilled with their drastic decision.
“No fucking way”, he shot once the idea was put on the table during a meeting scheduled at the McLaren Technology Centre, where he was spending the weekend to discuss new strategies for next week’s race. “You realize what you’re asking me?”
“Lando, your reputation is completely fucked. We quite literally have nothing else we could do to clean up the mess”, one of the members of the team said. “And we know lying isn’t easy, but this doesn’t have to last forever. We promise that by the end of the year, you can put off this bullshit silently”.
“It’s not the idea that is bad. Is the person you assigned me to lie with”, he crossed his arms and looked away. The head of his team sighed, knowing it would be too hard to make him break and cave into their idea.
Fake dating has been a good old trick in the celebrity world for a very long time, and it almost always works out. When the team came up with the idea, it looked almost flawless. All he needed was a girlfriend, making him look all fluffy and cute for the media once again, making everyone forget about the life he had before. Of course, it would coast a lot of sacrifices for Lando. It would require quitting the DMs slidings and now his parties would all be accompanied by the same girl. He probably would’ve accepted it in the end. Unfortunately, his team did poorly on the choice of who he would be doing this with.
“We know that you and Y/N aren’t exactly best friends, but her PR agency is close to ours, so it was easy to make an agreement with her. Also, she’s quite literally the sweetest person in the world, and everyone on the internet loves her. She’s everything your reputation needs”.
Y/N Y/L/N is the newest actress to arrive in Hollywood. Last year, she made her debut as a supporting actress on a Netflix movie. But recently, she scored a leading role on an HBO show that had everyone obsessed over her. Everyone except Lando, who already had a bad encounter with her a year prior.
“I can prove them I’m serious on the tracks, doing my own job. I don’t need a girlfriend to do that”, he leaned back into his seat and crossed his arms.
“Lando, you know that your reputation is fucked. Everybody thinks you're childish and unserious about your job. We want to change that”, his manager stepped into the conversation, pulling his attention back.
“But why her? Why the person who hates me the most in this universe?”
“Because she’s the only one who accepted this challenge”.
Y/N was very good at her job, and she most definitely wouldn’t need any relationship to get to new places. But the publicity of dating a Formula 1 driver would be very good, since the sport is doing so good on social media. Hollywood is a game, and she’s just now learning how to play it.
Before he could even ask why she agreed into that idea, Y/N shyly opened the door, opening a small smile to everyone on the table. With his blood already boiling under his skin, Lando chuckled before getting up from the table to exit the room. He passed right through her, shoulder bumping into hers on his way out.
“I guess you already told him”, she sighed, resting her bag over a seat at the meeting table. Y/N looked at his PR agent, who she had a meeting a few days ago, and that shook her head, pointing out the disaster of a meeting they just had. “He didn’t like it at all, did he?”
“He’s not very pleased with the idea”.
“Of course”, she nodded. “I’ll talk to Norris”.
Y/N walked around the entire place, only to find Lando sitting alone in another meeting room, facing a window that had a view to the lake outside. As usual, it was a gray day in England, making the atmosphere even more heavy than he wished for it to be. Without saying a word, she sat next to him and he pretended she wasn’t there by not acknowledging her presence in the room.
“Are you really going to pretend I’m not here?”, Y/N broke the silence and Lando sighed.
“I don’t want to see you right now”, he admitted, making her roll her eyes. Could he be any more childish?
“Norris, I know it seems like the end of the world, but it’s not a big deal. We just have to pretend to be together for a while and have a quiet breakup by the end of the year”, she said, making him finally look at her. “It’s not that hard”.
“But it is, Y/N”, he grunted. “Do you know how does it feel to not be trusted? Not being trusted with your work and, most importantly, not being trusted with your actions as a human. They think that alone I cannot put out the negativity around my name”.
“It’s just for a few months. And after this is done, we won’t ever need to see each other again, you know?”, she said.
“You realize that we’re going to be together almost all the time through an entire year, right? Not to mention that we cannot be seeing with anyone else until this deal is done. It will drive both of us insane.”
“We have to make it work”, she shot, making Lando chuckle.
“Why, Y/N?”, he crossed his arms and frowned. “Why did you accept this propose?”
“The publicity is good”, she admitted. “And you know, acting is my passion, but people need to know my name, so I can climb my way up in this industry. I’ve been trying so hard to be successful, but no new roles are offered to me. If fake dating you is a way to go, then I’m doing it”.
“You hate me”, Lando stated, making Y/N roll her eyes once again.
“We hate each other”.
“No, YOU hate me. You’ve hated me since the very first time we met”, he said, making Y/N’s mouth fall agape.
“Well, I had a pretty damn good reason to hate you, didn’t I?”
The first time they met each other was at a gala event in Monaco. Lando was required to appear by his PR team, thinking that having him appearing looking pretty as all hell would be good publicity for him. The same thing happened for Y/N, who had just come out with her first big film and needed to be seen by the public eye. But unfortunately, their first encounter wasn’t what they would consider to be nice.
Her stylist chose a beautiful white dress designed by Oscar de la Renta, with feathers at the bottom, making the dress have movement and her look absolutely fantastic as she walked through that amazingly fancy party. But just as she was starting to enjoy the party, someone bumped into her, spilling their red whine all over her. Before she could say anything, the person that bumped into her spoke up.
“Watch where you’re going, doll”, he laughed after he collided with her body, passing his hand through his shirt, checking if there were any drops on his clothes. “You nearly spilt wine on my shirt”.
He was clearly very drunk, and anyone could see it in his eyes. But Y/N didn’t care. Her perfect and amazing dress was ruined, and the person who trashed it didn’t even fucking care. It made her want to burst into flames.
“You fucking idiot! Look what you’ve done!” Y/N cried, looking down at her dress, now painted pink with the splash of wine. When she looked up, Lando was laughing, mostly because he was so out of himself, that he just couldn’t filter whatever happened a few seconds ago. “Aren’t you going to apologize?”
“Sorry”, he said, but proceeded to burp right on her face. Then, the man laughed again. Without any power to continue arguing with him, Y/N left the event and went straight home, not wanting to face another second of that event.
But, it seemed like fate was against her. A week later, after spending some marvellous few days in Monaco, Y/N was invited to watch the Formula 1 Grand Prix by her team. And even though her weekend was going amazing so far, the whole thing went down the drain when she met the same man who ruined her dress a few days ago. Only this time, he wasn’t drunk and he was wearing a racing suit, getting all ready to perform at the track later that day.
“You have got to be fucking joking”, Y/N muttered, low enough so no one could listen to it. Soon, she felt an arm around her, making her turn around and meet her agent, Clara.
“I want you to meet Lando Norris. He’s part of our PR agency as well”, she said, making Y/N walk towards the driver, who was listening to music as the mechanics around him worked at the car.
Lando didn’t remember meeting Y/N on the gala. He had been so out of himself that night, with all the bad races he was coming from, that he did everything in his will to get out of that reality. So when a beautiful girl crossed paths with him and shot him an angry look, he didn’t understand what he did wrong to deserve such a hateful glance.
“You don’t remember me?” She frowned once they were introduced again. “Oh, alright. You were so shitfaced that you forgot that you spilt wine over me and didn’t bother to apologize on that gala in Monaco. And then, proceeded to burp right in my face”.
He just couldn’t contain himself, and he laughed once again with the story. “I’m so sorry, baby. But this is actually very funny, sorry”.
Laughing at her face again didn’t do much on making Lando earn points with Y/N. Instead, she proceeded to hate him and make it all crystal clear every time they met on future events. And unfortunately, it happened more times than they enjoyed. After all, having their publicity teams so close to each other, they were often assigned to attend the same events; all of them filled with banters and fights that led them into a lifetime of hatred for each other. Which led them to this very important decision to take.
“Are you actually willing to put everything between us aside for this stunt?”, Lando frowned, not understanding why she would accept that challenge. Y/N took a deep breath and her lips curved into a sad, weak smile.
“I am willing to do anything for my career, Lando. Even pretending to love you”, that was the first time she ever called him Lando since they met. That definitely caught his attention. It definitely made his heart soften.
He knew the feeling of caring so much about your dream to the point of doing anything required to be done in order to achieve it. And for a second, Lando found something that connected Y/N to him: their passion for their jobs. Suddenly, what used to be an angry and confused look, turned soft and understanding just with a few words.
“I’ll do it”, he said, making Y/N breath normally again in relief.
“Okay”, she got up from his seat. But before she could exit the room, Y/N turned around and laughed. “This isn’t going to work, right?”
“Probably not”, Lando laughed too. “But if you feel like this is worthy, I trust you”.
It was one of those rare moments where he would fail on hating Y/N. The moments where his human side spoke louder. And she saw it; this time genuinely smiling to him.
 “Let’s do this, Norris”.

Heyyy just checked your masterlist and saw that despite you being into obey me! fandom, you don't have a fic. I'm married to Solomon in my mind so how about a situation where the reader (fem or gn your pick) is equally in love with this old man and begs him to recreate that time potion which made him immortal. Oh? Did i mention i want him to be a yandere? Please do that as well ^^
I love me my morally grey wizard ;)
I have 3 unfinished drafts for Diavolo, Barbatos and Satan on my Wattpad, but it was around the time I started getting Baki related requests here so I haven’t had the time to continue them. This goes for everyone reading, if you see a fandom title with no works you can always request something! :) This blog is only a few months old and I wasn’t writing much before (twice or thrice a year if I was generously inspired), so the variety is rather limited still. (I also finish requests at the pace of a snail, sorry about that)
Yandere! Solomon x Reader Headcanons
Featuring your fellow human classmate and now soon-to-be husband who couldn’t be happier about your wish to spend an eternity with him.
Content: gender neutral reader, obsessive behavior
Tumblr media
It started rather subtle. Just idle curiosity at first, a mere feigned surprise that was quickly swept aside for more important matters. Sure, Diavolo bringing another fellow human to the Devildom, especially one without any powers, was at least mildly intriguing. Your situation was as tempting as a puzzle to fiddle with in between tasks. Beyond polite offers to help you handle the new challenging environment, Solomon was not planning on prying further. Then the surprises begun to queue one after another. To think that you had barely learned your way around and somehow still forged a contract with one of the devilish siblings. Then another. And another. Fascination crept its way in and the greatest sorcerer found himself begging to learn more about the mysterious (Y/N).
Naturally such fascination should’ve had an intellectual grounding and nothing more. What is it about you that has caused such a ruckus across RAD? All he needed was an answer. Yet he discovered much too late how embarrassingly involved he’d become. Childishly clutching his D.D.D. in the middle of the night, wondering if you’ve already fallen asleep, and grinning when the screen lit up with a response from you. Cancelling all plans the instant you’d ask - casually - if he wanted to join you after class to check out a new café. No, of course he had nothing else to do. Yes, it’s definitely a lucky coincidence that he’s always available when you want to hang out with him.
Once he accepted he was madly in love with you, he began fretting over all possible obstacles. The demon brothers, life after RAD. He’d never engaged much with other humans and his charisma only covered superficial pleasantries. How was he to properly convey that he’s - mildly put - obsessed with you to the point where rejection won’t be taken lightly? Uh oh. Closer to a threat than a confession. Thankfully the Heavens were gracious and you immediately returned his affections. No need for potions or hexes (not that he would’ve…he had them prepared just in case). He remembers it to this day, years after, the wide, innocent smile that you so generously bestowed upon him. Almost like a premonition, he knew you’d be the person to marry. Something he never considered in his long, lonely life.
You lazily lift your hand and admire the ring again. Solomon is quite clumsy and forgetful, but he goes all out for the things that matter. The proposal had been planned to a dizzying amount of detail and you couldn’t believe how much thought he put into it, with many aspects you otherwise assumed he’d forget or omit. Yet staring at the intricately carved band adorning your finger now, you can’t help the pang of melancholy blooming in your chest. Solomon lifts his gaze from the book he’s reading, sensing your discomfort. “Something bothering you?” He inquires with a hint of worry in his voice. “What happens after the wedding?” You demand, turning to face him. “Oh my. I personally prefer to focus on the present.” He answers with a chuckle. “Sure, because you don’t have to worry about your future. It’s mine that will end at some point.” His eyes widen and his hands are suddenly cold. He’s been so entranced by your company that he didn’t even entertain the idea of a potential end to it. He almost strokes his cheek to soothe the hard slap of your words, leaving him in a frightened stupor.
Oh no. No, no, no. Within the blink of an eye he finds himself standing before the alchemy shelves, rattling the bottles for the right ingredients. You didn’t even need to mutter a word. He knew exactly what you’re thinking of. How shameful of him to have caused you this distress in the first place. You’re young, and time for him has lost its human meaning, so your mortality hadn’t crossed his mind this entire time. He would’ve found a solution for it later, most certainly, but he didn’t expect this postponement to make you so anxious. His lips are quivering and his slender fingers are visibly trembling. Partly from the fear of almost failing you as your future husband, partly from the excitement of what’s about to come. He always imagined there’d be nothing more beautiful and precious to witness than you in your wedding attire as you tie the knot. But now? Oh, how ravishingly tempting and seducing, the fact that he can listen to the mundanely repeated words of “Til death do us part” and stare down its meaning until there’s nothing left of it. Not quite. Not for you two. The veil will be lifted and your face will radiate eternity.
After all, nothing will stand between him and his fated soulmate. What’s death to a wizard of his caliber?

daydreaming
minatozaki sana x soccerplayer!reader (pt.1)

wc: 6k
warnings: mostly fluff ; a sprinkle of angst ; slightly suggestive (?) ; mentions of food
a/n: hi hi hiii, new blog, new account, and first post? feel free to leave any comments, asks, or even feedback, i hope you guys will like this!

pt.2 pt.3 pt.4
you knew it was gonna be a good day with a hit on the crossbar at the end of morning practice.
sure, you would’ve wished to hit it on the first try and be done with it, but going overboard and hitting five out of five attempts left you with some scattered cheers from your teammates watching as they cleaned up the surrounding area of cones and soccer balls.
you also chipped in a small contribution by putting the remaining balls in the last two bags near the goalpost. making your way towards the bench with four sets of bleachers behind it, you set your eyes on one person sitting on the first row of seats.
now sana didn’t really mind coming along with you to your practice sessions no matter if it was early, late, rain, or shine; heck, she even offered to drive you at times just to change things up despite her questionable driving skills that made you wonder if her passing the drivers test was entirely a fluke. but instead of sleeping in on saturday mornings, she decided to spend them with you.
you walk up to the set of bleachers without her knowing as she was hunched over watching one of her numerous netflix shows that she changes every other week because she could never fully commit to watching one series entirely. waving your set of shin pads over her phone causes her to look up with a scrunched look on her face in a slight annoyance.
“you seem pretty invested with that new show now.” you said, smiling at your antic as sana paused her show, slapping your thigh lightly. “I already told you that I'll try sticking to one a week yesterday.” sana playfully said, getting up with her small handbag on her shoulder. “you finished?”
you simply nodded, “yeah, I also bring good news.” sana tilts her head in with a quizzical look on her face on top of her lips set in a slight pout.
“no training next week.” you said. “coach rain said that he’ll be out of town running some trials for a second division team out of state.” sana’s eyes shot slightly wider than usual, raising her eyebrow after your little announcement. “are you sure you’re not pranking me? you said that last time!” sana asks, checking her phone after for a quick second before giving back her attention to you.
“it’s not a prank this time.” you respond giggling as you turn to grab your bag from the bench, quickly fishing through for your car keys. you turn back soon after to see sana fixing her hair tying it in a messy bun. you sort of pause any movement for a small second.
a second for everything that’s happening around you, but an eternity in your head when you laid eyes on sana again.
the appearance of sana was always breathtaking to look at regardless of what she was doing. her sense of style didn’t go to disarray as she perfectly pulled off your oversized gray hoodie that you let her borrow along with her flared yoga pants that would one-up the models wearing it on the website when buying in addition to the small white prada handbag that you picked for her when you went designer brand shopping two weeks ago. her fair skin that seemed to illuminate in the sunlight close to being angelic. her light brown hair which looked seemingly perfect even if she put it up or down. the way her face contoured in angles you didn’t even think it was possible for one to have. in your opinion, she had the ideal side profile in addition to her nose being flawless. there was no denying the fact that she was pretty, (wait not pretty- beautiful) and you were left in wonder sometimes how you managed to have someone like her as your best friend.
“is something wrong y/n?” sana asks, breaking your trance as you shook your head in response.
“yea- no, i’m good, i thought i forgot-”
“looks like y/n’s daydreaming again.”
“you know you’re unbelievable sometimes y/n?”
keeping your eyes on sana she smiled at you after hearing the pair of voices’ remarks. you mirrored her lovely smile as you turned around to see the duo of maki and mia watching you two from a short distance.
“don’t you two have cleaning responsibilities?” you quickly ask the pair, pointing to the last pile of ball bags placed to the left of them. “you don’t want coach to get mad at you guys let alone run laps again do ya?”
maki scoffed, “yeah, but you’re not denying the fact that you were daydreaming right in front of us weren’t ya?” mia quietly snickered behind you, noticing a faint hint of red spread out on your face. you shoulder your bag over your right side, lightly raising your fist in response to their little inside joke against you.
“i could give both of you guys red ass right now if i wanted to.” you declared, eyeing a ball set next to the bench. maki picked up on your sentence and was quick to put hands behind his butt; reminiscing the flashbacks of what unfolded last time he pulled a quick joke about you and sana. “Han was lucky he was sick that time, but i’m sure that he would love to see it happen-”
“okay okay, you win this time captain.”mia replied quickly to admit his defeat as he and Han both turned around heading towards the last pile of ball bags placed next to the goal. after internalizing your small victory, you then turned back to sana with a subtle smirk on her face.
“what?”
“oh nothing. i know it’s just regular banter between the three of you. im still shocked that you’re the youngest between them. crazy to think about, but cute nonetheless.”
“so you’re saying that my age is apparently more important than my contrasting appearance? don’t even get me started about my first impression of your dad.”
sana taps your shoulder, “hey! you should be glad my mom convinced him that you weren’t the cliche jock type you see in high school movies.” you place your hand over your shoulder that sana hit, raising both your hands as you gave in to her argument. “alright, you made your point. now lets go before the morning rush starts at chae’s,” you said as you both began walking towards the parking lot.
meeting sana could’ve gone differently looking back at it now.  the last thing you expected to happen was an attempted knuckleball skyrocketing over your small goal followed by a broken window and an ear piercing screech at your neighbor's house from your front yard. what made it even worse was the fact that sana and her family had moved in just next door at the time. after getting an earful from her dad while also getting another tangent from your dad, it eventually led to both your parents meeting sana’s parents properly. at first, you were reluctant about coming along to meet, especially following what you did, but your mom convinced you that it’ll be fine and how there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.
“just think of it as getting off on the wrong foot! besides, you already apologized to mr and mrs. minatozaki!” your mom said to you, rubbing your shoulders to ease the nervousness from your body.
“mom, how do you expect me to be fine after blasting a ball into our new neighbor’s window?” you look up while asking, putting both of your hands in the pockets of your stained sweatpants.
“i already told you, there’s nothing to worry about sweetie, your dad already said that he’ll fix the window.” your mom glanced over at you, placing her hand on your cheek.
you sighed as the three of you stood in front of the minatozakis’ new home. a few quick rings of the doorbell followed by the door opening, you see the quick exchanges of “hellos” and handshakes as you made your way inside the house. your mom taps your shoulder, pointing to her feet to signify taking off your shoes. simply nodding at your mother’s request, you sat yourself down on the steps of the two story house, untying your shoes while adjusting your socks in the process.
while you were doing that, you overheard a third voice near the dining room as well as your mother’s remark whenever she sees something nice and cute like a pet. thinking nothing of it, you continue to fix up the worn socks you had as you hear the rush of steps on the wooden floor. your eyes catch something moving on your right side and as you turn your head to the left, a girl who looked to be about your age was sitting next to you.
“sorry, did i scare you?” the girl questions, setting herself on the stairs placing her gaze towards you.
“n-no, it’s just that i didn’t know that you were here in this house too.” you responded, covering your startled state by fake coughing while turning away from her stare.
“so you actually thought that screech was from my mom?” the girl asks, straightening her legs on the stair steps; putting more of her undivided attention to you.
“well…yeah, but i couldn’t really tell exactly whose scream it was.” you mumble sitting upright slightly turning your body towards the girl next to you.
the dark haired girl makes eye contact with you, also slightly turning inward to face you; mirroring your seated posture as well. you slightly suck in a quick breath through your parted lips, never breaking the innocent gaze you and her were sharing together. your mind ran a quick analysis of her features: her dark brown eyes, the subtle chubbiness of her cheeks almost mimicking a hamster, the way her lips were flatlined with both corners angling up to give a derpy smile. you couldn’t understand it back then, but this girl had an aura early on, almost entrancing you entirely at any given moment.
“you’re not as shy as you look.” the girl says. “anyway, your face was so funny when my dad was talking to you yesterday about our window.”
you furrowed your brows together following her statement. “wha- wait you saw?”
she hummed, nodding her head in response.
“my dad isn’t the type of person to get mad, but you looked so scared.” she answered. “i was at the top of the stairs when the whole thing happened.”
“i- i guess i was too caught up getting a lesson from your da-”
she lightly laughs at your explanation. “it’s ok. he knows that it was an accident so there’s no need for you to get scared.”
“i wasn’t scared!” you counter, trying to come up with a good reason why you looked liked that. the girl leans a little bit closer trying to hear your poorly constructed alibi, but your mind couldn’t come up with anything to pass.
you sigh, slouching your body forward in defeat as the girl beside you simply smiled at your distressed state. you return eye contact with her soon after.
“i’m sana by the way.” she says.
“i’m y/n.” you reply back as you quickly look down at your mismatched socks.
“y/n? that’s a cute name.” she notes, her voice beaming with a bright tone.
you scoff at her observation. “my name isn’t all that, but i’ll take your compliment.” you say cracking a quick exchange of soft smiles.
“kids! dinner is ready!” your mom yells from the dining room behind the stairs.
“coming!” you and sana both say in unison as you and her made a break to the kitchen.
what followed after that fateful dinner would become a six year friendship between you and sana. to say that you two were inseparable would be one hell of an understatement. you and her were basically attached at the hip all throughout the school years.
there was never a dull moment between you and sana, the days were always filled with random antics, laughs, impulsive decisions to procrastinate on homework by getting something to eat, or even doing anything and everything in her house or yours. aside from your parents in addition to Dex, who was practically your day one since kindergarten, sana was always there for you no matter if it was about school, soccer, or whatever crazy adventure life decided to throw at you. she was there with you through it all.
sana knew everything about you. from the ideal snacks you’d like to eat, what your skincare routine items consisted of, the music you would listen to on the way to tournaments, your favorite player’s top 10 essentials, study habits, the inconsistent sleep schedule; she’s seen it all. you also have the same case when it came to learning more and more of sana’s habits and lifestyle. what she prefers on a rainy day, the fact that she likes to take pictures of things that were cute or intriguing; her go-to order of coffee she would usually get when cramming school work together, and even the way she celebrates even the smallest accomplishments jumping up and down in elation.
what first started as differences between you and her turned into common interests, the bond that was shared grew even stronger. those post game meals, watching a show together through one pair of earbuds, walking and eventually driving to school - even sleeping over at each other’s houses just to keep company. the priceless moments you spent with her didn’t have to be special, it was already enough that you were willing to do anything with her and sana definitely felt the same way with you.
you and sana always appeared to have a bubble encapsulating you two at school. most classmates and friends would usually give space to ensure that they weren’t interrupting something. not that you or her cared anyway, but from an outsiders’ perspective, it's a different story - and it gets the people going in conversation:
“sana and y/n would make a good couple.”
“they’re always together...”
“y/n is so lucky to have sana!”
“what a perfect match.”
blah blah blah blah you’ve heard the lot of it.
so let’s set the record straight, you and sana never actually dated each other during high school. despite that shocking revelation, the situation itself seems too good to be true. you’ve spent a significant amount of time together, know every detail about each other’s lives, and no secrets are harbored between you two; but this is midway through your last fall break in high school, and surely something must’ve clicked by now right? wrong.
most of the guys and girls at school would kill to be in your position with sana. it was already accepted that she was leagues above anyone else and it wasn’t even a close race with the other popular girls at school as well. you a similar set of criteria with sana: top of the class, you were the best player and captain of the soccer team, well known with the various teachers, good with other students, and just the ideal model that most people should aspire to be on and off the soccer pitch. too bad much can’t be said about your love life since it’s virtually nonexistent.
however, that all changed when you started to see sana a little bit differently. the realization didn’t come to you right away - eventually, you start to see small signals going off in your mind in both the physical and internal aspects of sana’s being.
you didn’t notice it at first glance because of how natural it was to see sana being clingy or touchy with momo and nayeon; come to think of it, now even dahyun from econ class was now the latest addition to her list of victims in physical affection. she had that effect on others that made them feel like they have known sana for ages. none of them come close to you though. your classmates have only seen the superficial version of sana, the version that everyone was naturally accustomed to seeing on a daily basis during class. despite that, it was a much different story at home.
the real sana, your sana, you’ve seen the emotions she held in behind closed doors and its just you two. even for a girl like her who’s always seen as an overpowering ray of sunshine, she too has her moments of despair. that was apparent during the time when she lost her cousin to a tragic drunk driver accident roughly about two years ago. you were nearly forced to drag her to the service, but she eventually came around. the loss was already tough on her as it is since she got sick soon after that. since her mom was busy with nursing and her dad usually working the graveyard shift, she was always home alone if you were also backed up with soccer practice or school work.
but in that week when she got really sick, you thought it’d be a good idea for you to stay over at her house to keep her company; not that your parents really minded nevertheless; for her sake and wellbeing, you dedicated yourself to care for your longtime friend.
the first night was probably the roughest part of that week. you immediately bolted to her house after practice when you received a text from her mom to see how she was doing. when you arrived at her house and stepped into her room since the funeral, it was difficult to see her in that bedridden state; she was a wreck, slightly malnourished, almost pale. it pained you to see her like this - despite that, she still had that little sense of bubbliness to her that made the situation a little more bearable to handle as she flashed a faint smile,
“i guess this is what i get for not eating and sleeping?” sana mumbles, her voice coarse that was almost ineligible to hear.
“everyone handles their grief differently, so in a way yes.” you sigh as you set the tray of warm soup on her nightstand.
you got a closer look at her face when you sat next to her on the bed, adjusting yourself as sana propped herself up after turning on the lamp. your heart ached at the sight your mind was registering. her eyes that were once beaming with light were no longer there; instead, they were half-lidded, almost lifeless. the eyebags right under were very apparent with her hair clearly disheveled from being in bed.
“thank you for the soup y/n.” sana says with a faint glee in her expression.
“don’t, sana,” you quickly say, patting her head, “it already hurts me to see you like this.”
sana pouts at your statement.
“the least that i can do is just be here for you.” you utter, “i won’t ask for anything in return.” you flash a smirk only for her to return the same look.
“well, i should probably get going.” you say in a lowered tone. “i still have to finish up my project with Jackson and i-”
as you got up from sana’s bed, you felt a hand grasp your wrist. looking back, you see sana facing down with a sense of loss translated through her body. your heart rate spiked for an instant as you tried to conjure up any sort of thoughts possible to help determine what was unfolding in front of you.
a very small sniffle could be heard, breaking the tension and silence that was filling up the room.
“stay…” sana murmurs softly, “please.”
your mind freezes at her sudden request. this was the first time you’ve seen sana in this state before, and there was one thing that was certain your heart was telling you: this was really bad. you were one choice away from either making her overall condition worse - but this potential choice was also an unforeseen opportunity for something that you had never thought of doing with the girl living next door to you.
in a prolonged second, the next set of actions that transpired would eventually be the set of seeds planted for your true intentions down the line.
you shift sana’s hand from your wrist to your hand as you sat back down on the bed, facing her again, meeting with her eyes as they were on the verge of tears once more.
“okay.” you whisper softly as you grasp her hand slightly tighter, “i’ll stay.” you say, leaning forward so that your forehead could meet hers.
sana let out a small breath of relief through her nose, delighted at the words you said which eased the pain a whole lot more than she initially thought. after placing her forehead against yours, she lightly closed her eyes as a single tear fell down from the left side of her face. her face became warm all of a sudden when you put your hand on her left cheek, wiping the tear away, melting at your loving touch for a slight second.
“thank you…” sana whispers to you.
soon after she said that, you wrap your arms around her, hugging her tightly. sana pauses at your action for a brief millisecond, thrown off with what you were doing; instead of pondering about it, she fully gives into your embrace as she slotted herself into your chest. her arms coating your clothed back with her hands placed perfectly on the crook of your neck, allowing herself to be fully comfortable with showing these emotions to you for the first time.
intimacy was something that sana had no shame in showing, she had that knack for being affectionate to her loved ones in any way possible. even when hanging out with friends, it would always end up with her being all over someone for the most part; and even when watching from afar, she would give small glances to you as if she’s trying to make you jealous. but in the end, you would tilt your head and give a small smirk back at her, acknowledging the fact that what she’s doing is indeed working, except you won’t yield to her that easily.
you were a different case for sana. the understanding that you two had was way past the verbal aspect to a point where you or her could say so much just by looking in each other’s eyes. sana just felt right at home with you, a perfect compliment to her energy and vibes. the yin to her yang. you had no problem with reciprocating the things that she does whenever its just you two. from hand-holding, her grip on your arm, your arm wrapped around her waist, and pressing both of your faces together when taking pictures just to name a few.
all of those sweet moments were special to you, and surely sana thought the same. they could be called dates, they could be called hangouts, it didn’t matter at all because you’d be spending them with the person who’s had your heart for the longest time now.
“you’re staring off into space again.”
a voice breaks your daze into the distance as you’re brought back to reality, sitting along a set of tables outside of chaeyoung’s family owned cafe. you blink and look over to your right side of you, seeing sana sitting next to you staring, her head on her fist with a puzzled expression on her face.
“that matcha latte isn’t gonna finish itself ya know.” she says. you look down and smile, realizing you embarrassed yourself for the third time today.
“sorry.” you say as you finish the last of your latte in one swig. sana mirrors your action, drinking her cinnamon scented macchiato. both of you gulp down the last of your tasty beverages and place your cups on the table.
“you do have something on your mind don’t you? sana asks playfully. you shake your head in response to her question, “well not exactly.”
“yes you do.”
“no i don’t.”
“y/n, we both know how this goes.” sana declares, knowing that it was pointless to hide something especially if you’re keeping it from sana of all people.
you sigh in defeat, looking at the rows of cherry blossom trees set outside of chaeyoung’s cafe before focusing on sana again.
“it’s about the youth academy, and the exit trial…” you started off, “even though it’s been two weeks already, i’m not sure how well i-”
“stop y/n.” sana demands, shaking her head, “that wasn’t how you felt when you came back from the facility; i know you did great so act like it.”
“i know, i know. ” you sigh softly, placing your hands on the table. clasping your fingers together to stop them from shaking. “but you gotta remember sana, this trial is for a potential contract; on an actual team. i’m within touching distance of my lifelong dream, but what if it doesn’t work out?”
sana shakes her head in disagreement, grabbing your hands with her own. you shift your left hand and place it over hers, gently rubbing the top of her thumb as she did the same for your right hand.
“you supported my dream of becoming a cosmetologist, now let me do the same for you.” sana declares, “all of those practices and games will finally be worth it in the end. the best and only thing that we can do is just wait.” sana has seen the highs and lows of your soccer journey and while she didn’t fully grasp the sport until a year after she met you all those years ago, she knew how much this meant for you to go pro.
“i want to be there for you every step of the way.”
“you’ll always be my first fan….”
those words echoed in the back of sana’s mind as she kept her eyes fixated on you, while you were still rubbing your thumb on her hand. you chuckled softly as you grabbed her left hand, setting a kiss atop of her middle knuckle. she blushes at your sudden action of affection as you look back at her and smiled.
“you’re the best sometimes you know that?”
sana lets out a cute giggle, one that was reserved for you and only you, “i know i am. what else is new?”
“nothing much really if i were to be honest with you.” you reply, still lightly grasping her hand as you stare at sana’s face once more.
sana leans her head over to the right side, hand still latched onto yours. “your overwhelming sincerity never ceases to amaze me.” she says, gazing into your eyes before trailing off into the dazzling features of your face for a few seconds.
you pull your hand away from her as you cross your arms together, not convinced with her genuine complement. sana dips her head down laughing at your amusing action as she tries to pull your arm off. before she could even break your crossed arms, you pull away slightly while also diverting your attention away from her intentionally, making her slightly annoyed.
“are you saying that my lovely appeal doesn’t work on you anymore?” you ask looking back at her with a moped face.
“i never said that it didn’t.” sana responds instantly. “i should ask the same about you?”
“we both know that you’d beat me in a flirting competition anyway.”
“you wanna try again pretty?” sana teases.
“i think everyone knows that i’m the only one that can withstand your tempting charms.” you argue as you place your elbow on the table with your head on your fist, smirking at sana who was slightly baffled at your statement as you felt a faint blush tap your cheeks.
“that i can confirm.” sana replies, surrendering to your reasons. the moment between you two is interrupted as you see your phone vibrate on the table. you look over to see the notification of a missed call, it was your mom. it followed up with a text that you looked at closely to read, your eyes widened at the message.
“mom just called, she said to come home right now.” you said to sana who nodded at what was happening. the both of you stood up as you grabbed sana’s hand after you set the chairs back with the table exiting the cafe together.
—-
sana knew that you always had a gentle side to you. behind that sturdy, hardened exterior was someone that defined the epitome of sweet and so much more, all bundled up into one person. she was aware of how ambitious you were about your studies and athletics, and a little bit of that mentality of yours rubbed off on her as you both leaned on each other for support when times got tough. the way you spoke to her, how you acted, even the actions that you did was everything that she ever dreamed about having was with you. she wanted more and even that wasn’t enough for her.
you both were already mindful of the idea of crushing on each other. even if you two didn’t admit that there was something, nothing ever came to fruition because of how platonic everything was between you two so far.
the car ride home was always a smooth breeze. aside from the fact that sana is your passenger princess, it was always a good time in your matte black tesla. sana would always take off her shoes or sandals, placing both feet on the dashboard and setting the seat all the way back only for her to forget to reset it every time she leaves the car. you didn’t think much of it however since you took every opportunity to place your hand with hers or even on her thigh, and she didn’t mind either. sana found you attractive with playing soccer already, but with everyday activities such as driving, sometimes she couldn’t function properly.
you end up backing into the driveway of your house not long after seven minutes. sana gets out first and waits for you at the fence that connects her house to yours while you grab your soccer bag from the hood, humming out loud while looking at the sky. you get something from the driver's seat real quick before you walk over to sana again who was on her phone.
“texting your long distance pen-pal again? wasn’t the username kim somet-”
“it’s kimchouzaki.” sana answers. “she just sent me a care package from japan so it should be coming in a little bit.”
“i wish i had a pen-pal who did that for me, but with soccer related stuff.”
“aw don’t be sad, its ok.” sana purses her lips together at your remark. “you should go inside, i don’t want to keep your mom waiting.”
“i’m sure it’s nothing bad, but i’ll-”
“let you know if something happens?” sana asks finishing your sentence. “you know me so well.” you gleam as the both of you laugh together. another long pause of tension consumes you and her for the twentieth time today.
neither of you were complaining however as you stared into each other's eyes, conversing in silence to the point where it could be the ending moment of a k-drama episode.
“so…see you later?” sana asks as you inhale sharply, looking down at your feet before returning back to her face. “yeah. i’ll talk to you later sana.” you say as she begins to take a step away from you, fleeting moments of opportunity sleeping away right in front of you. before your heart takes another ache, you take another quick breath of air.
“wait…” you started off saying, sana stopping in her tracks as she faced you again, tilting her head in question. “before you go,” you grab her wrist and pull her in for a quick hug, arms wrapping around her back as her arms find themselves on your waist.
“thank you for listening earlier.” your voice getting quieter. “i really needed that reassurance from you.” you finish off saying as you place your head on top of hers. you hear sana’s breath shudder against your chest, relieving the little stress you two had combined together. few seconds pass as you unwrap your hands from sana and give her a couple small inches of space between you two.
“i do care about you y/n…it’d be crazy of me to say that i didn’t…” sana muttered in a small millisecond of sadness. “this is as scary for me as it is for you.” she said looking up at you, her face just inches away from yours. you pout your lips into a small smile, “i’m sure everything will work out, so don’t worry too much okay?” you softly ask as you place both hands on her shoulders, massaging them to ease the anxiety away from sana’s body.
“alright i’ll leave you now, i’ll text you if something comes up.” you say as you adjust the soccer bag on your back.
“sounds good!” sana beams returning to her normal state of bubbliness as she tiptoes to plant a kiss on your cheek. you cutely smile at her sudden action, “if what’s inside is what i think it is about, that kiss was for good luck!.” she yells as she makes her way towards her house.
you kept your eyes on sana, waving at her as she got further and further away, eventually going past the door to her house and closing it. soon after, you look down in content, smiling at what just took place a few moments ago.
“that girl really is something.” you say to yourself as you make your way up the steps to the front door. a quick movement of opening the door and heading inside, you take off your shoes and place your bag down on the floor and walk towards the kitchen.
“ma! i'm home!.” you yell out as you turn to the dining table to see both of your parents and your best friend dex, who also was your personal agent managing the business and logistical end with the soccer teams. sitting across from them was a woman in a well-fitted dress layered with a blazer, holding a small card in her hand. you eyed the card the woman was holding a little more closely as it resembled a club badge facing towards you. it didn’t take that long for you to put two and two together and the first words you heard from dex all but confirmed everything that you assumed.
“hey y/n, i have some really good news for you.” dex began saying. your eyes shot open at the thought that was processing in your mind at an instant.
you couldn’t wait to tell sana about this after.

When they insult you(Kenma and Oikawa)
A/N this blog is so weird- It’s like 400 styles in one.
Genre: Angst (it’s not SUPER bad- I can write a part two as comfort if y’all would like that)
Warnings: Insults obvi, pregnant reader(oikawa)
Part two
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(not having a job)
Being with Kenma is wonderful. He never looks at other girls, fights you, and always is there to support and love you, so of course you did the same.
You’ve been dating him since high-school so you were there for him through his volleyball days all the way to his billionaire status. Naturally, you both loved and were there for each other unconditionally, so it was no surprise when he got down on one knee and proposed.
Currently the two of you were in the process of wedding planning which was super fun, but stressful as hell.
Kenma made enough money from streaming and his business and he loved to stream. So he was still working when he really didn’t need to.
You’d quit your job to focus on the planning and all had been going well.
Now the week was two months away and all you had left was the finishing touches.
All of the major stuff was done, and now all you had to do was plan the little things. Little things that would’ve been really helpful to have your fiancé's input on, so you opened his door slowly to see if he was streaming, which he was, but he was in the middle of a break.
“Hey baby,” you smiled, walking over to sit on his lap, “are you busy right now?”
You couldn’t tell when you walked in, but he seemed pissed off.
“I’ve been streaming for four hours. All I want is a break, what do you want?” He responded harshly.
“Just turn off the stream, I wanna talk about wedding stuff,” you bargained.
“One of us has to work, Y/N. I know it’s fun to just lounge around on the couch and pick flowers but I have a real job. A job I need to support you and this lavish wedding you want.”
After hearing this, you simply got up and left the room. If that was truly how he felt, so be it. There didn’t have to be a wedding after all.
Going into a guest room and slamming the door, you instantly started applying for jobs. Kenma knew you were waiting until you finished college to get a job again, and that he’d support you through getting your masters degree. But clearly, that was a lie.
And you wouldn’t force him to support you any longer.

(Not dressing up)
You were 20 weeks pregnant. Finally at the point where it didn’t just look like you ate a lot. It looked like you were growing a baby. This also meant that it was getting harder to find an outfit that wasn’t just a shirt that was streched out too much, or an ugly maternity dress that made you look even fatter than you felt. Thankfully, Oikawa was there for you ever step of the way. Buying you new things to try on, encouraging you, and telling you how beautiful you looked. But his views changed one day.
Now you and your husband, Oikawa, were walking around the grocery store. Just buying food for the week when one of his old classmates came up to him.
She was pregnant too, and shopping for groceries with her husband. The only difference was she was absolutely glowing. Her bump fit her nicely, and the dress she was wearing looked amazing on her. It gave her a very cheery vibe.
Since you didn’t go to Aoba Johsai, you didn’t know them. So, you just smiled and looked at the food intently, as if you didn’t know what you were going to grab.
After a while they left and Oikawa’s mood seemed to have worsened.
“What’s wrong babe?” You asked, trying your best to keep up with the speed that he walked to the cash register, “and we’re missing a few things.”
“Why can’t you look more like Nami? She’s 24 weeks and she still dresses nicely,” He complained, gesturing towards your Crocs, T-shirt, and sweatpants.
“I’ve tried, nothing you good on me,” you were about to cry. You didn’t know if it was pregnancy hormones or if it was the fact that your husband was berating you in public. It was a good thing the cashier had her airpods in and the store was fairly empty.
“Well maybe you should stay home then. It’s embarrassing when my friends’ wives look better than my own,” he grumbled, picking up the pancake mix and syrup you put in the basket, “seriously? Are you trying to look like a whale?”
Instead of explaining how HIS child was craving it, you simply put it back on the shelf and was silent the entire way home.
That night, after putting everything up and showering you rolled on your side of the bed alone. When he wrapped his arms around your bump as he did every night, you pushed him off. Ignoring him when he tried to apologize and reason with you.
The next day when he apologized, bought you new clothes, jewelry, and the food you wanted you still didn’t talk to him.
It’d take a lot more than bribery for you to forgive his actions.

Day 2: Tit Fucking- With Four
Tumblr media
Okay, with everything going on, I know it's a little controversial for me to continue posting. HOWEVER, that being said I'm not letting them get to me.
It's been such a gift and an honor to watch how fast this community has banded together to come to not only mine, but Bailey's, defense too. So thank you. Thank you everyone. It means the world to me and I cannot describe how thankful I am.
That being said, I've delayed day 2 long enough.
Smut so Minors Do Not Interact. If I find out a minor has interacted with my blog, I will block you.. Thank you!
Smut CW: Tit jobs, AFAB! Reader, its pretty much whats written on the tin.

“That’s my good girl.”
With his head rolling back, four let out a tight groan, chest flexing against his ribcage as his knuckles flex and curl around the roots of your hair in his grasp. Something primal and unprecedented for him rolling in his gut like an angry fire, comparable to the ones in the forge, making his back arch and thighs quiver. You just looked so, so pretty down there, tits held together with your hands as you kitten licked right where the first of several barbells pierced his shaft. The soft flesh of your breasts was warm and smooth and when slicked over with your spit, made for the perfect little show just for him. Watching you draw back and forth over his cock over and over again made the head weep with precum, which just served to make your gorgeous tits sheen even further.
Your nipples had perked so prettily for him and he was almost tempted to pull at them, but you were enjoying yourself. So dickdrunk, you could barely tell up from down as you found yourself so busied by his cock, switching between sucking the head to toying with each piercing as you passed it before raising up only to rub your tits up and down the very trail your lips had.
Goddess above, you were so pretty like that. On your knees before him, mind totally blank with the only thought of pleasing him. Oh, how he adored you for it. He was so totally infatuated with your golden divinity, so to have you praise him like he was the only God you knew of?
Made his cock twitch from where you had been mindlessly suckling at the head, tongue swirling over the opening to readily collect any new beads of precum.
“My precious jewel, you look like the Goddess incarnate even with your pretty little head so empty.” He crooned, hand leaving your hair to cup your cheek. It stalled you for a second, your gorgeous eyes looking up at him through your lashes, as if awaiting his next demand. And, oh, how we just love to pin you to the nearest wall and tease your velvet walls, dragging his piercings along them in the way he knew drove you absolutely crazy. To turn you from mindless and obedient to just simply breaking you in the best way he knew how, watching your pearly tears coat your cheeks as you babble away at him. He would ache for nothing more, but you had been so polite when you originally asked to do this. You had been so calm through his gentle insults and so well behaved when he had denied you what you wanted at first, teasing you like a dog with a bone.
It would’ve been cruel to deny you this, even if the idea was so deliciously taunting.
All that to say, the day was young and he had no orders to fill in the forge. So, he had all the time in the world to give you whatever you wanted. Even if it would come at a price.
“Now, finish what you started and maybe I’ll return the favor, my jewel.”

“But seriously, do you think I’m the wrong one? I really think she’s the one at fault!” Ni-ki smirks while listening to his friend ranting. He heard he had a fight with his girlfriend and now he’s here ranting about it.
He offered to accompany him to go buy some art stuff. If only he knew his friend will just be like this, he would’ve gone alone. He can’t focus on picking the right materials with him talking and talking.
“I think you are the wrong one.” he spat just to piss his friend off. The look of betrayal flashes through his face that made Ni-ki laugh before continuing on checking the rack of color pastels in front of him.
“What? Dude! She literally just got mad at me because—”
“Because you didn’t told her you will go out with us yesterday.” Ni-ki finished off his sentence for him. He picks up one pack of pastel of a well known brand and looks throughly over it.
Jungwon sighs, “So? Does she have to know everything that I’m doing?”
Ni-ki shrugs his shoulders off. “I don’t know. Do I look like I’m in a relationship to know?” the sarcasm over his tone made Jungwon shut up for a while. He looked at him with pitiful eyes. It made Ni-ki roll his eyes and look at him, abandoning his pastels for a while.
“Look, hyung. Let me put it this way,” he starts. ”If she goes with her friends and she didn’t inform you at all. You just found out when you saw her story and you’ve been waiting for her text for hours, what would you feel?”
Jungwon furrowed his brows, “I will be worried and pissed.”
Ni-ki nodded his head, “That answers your question on who's at fault.” and he now moves on to go look for a new sketchbook, holding the chosen pastel in one of his hands.
His friend sighs and leaned over a rack before unconsciously picking one, eyes scanning it randomly.
“Fine. I’ll say sorry to her later.”
Ni-ki rolled his eyes and just grabbed his usual sketchbook before walking towards the cashier. He can feel his friend following behind him, he’s not ranting anymore. Probably realized he’s the wrong one.
“Ah right!” Jungwon jogs so he can catch up with Ni-ki. “Do you want to come with me tomorrow? My girlfriend says she will take her best friend with her tomorrow to keep her off from her books.”
Ni-ki falls in line before he glance at his friend with a tired look over his face.
Jungwon’s girl goes to the other school and so they often go on dates during weekends. He doesn’t even know how the two ended up meeting each other.
“I’m not interested.” he coldly rejected it.
Jungwon rolled his eyes, “Come on! One date?”
Ni-ki sighs and shakes his head for his friend. “Dude, why do you guys keep on forcing me to date? I’m all good.”
His friend draws in a strained sigh, “So you will stop spending too much with your sketchbook. Seriously, dude? Are you going after Da vinci’s steps?” he joked and even told him that he will just step out of the store to call his girlfriend. He will wait for him outside.
Ni-ki nodded his head and just waits patiently for his turn. His mind are now slowly floating, getting filled by thoughts of what his friend said. He do spends so much time with his sketchbook. He loves arts and drawing stuff. Ever since he was a child, he’s always been interested about it. But that’s not the only reason.
There’s this girl. She kept on appearing inside his dreams. He don’t remember when it started, but all he knows is that she appeared often that he find her already familiar even if he haven’t met her yet.
He also have a lot of sketch of her face. As times pass by, he almost perfected it. The sketches was always beautiful. Well, she is very beautiful.
He smiled at the counter and muttered a low ‘thanks’ after he grabs his stuff then the change. He slowly walks out of the store and saw his friend smiling slightly while talking to his girlfriend. Ni-ki scoffed, couldn’t believe what he’s currently seeing. He approaches him silently and he signalled wait before finally ending the call.
“Done?” he asks him. Ni-ki gave a short nod before they both walked together to head home.
“Are you still having dreams about that girl?” the question made Ni-ki glanced over his friend.
“Its not like I have it everyday, Won hyung.” he smirks.
Jungwon stole a glance before shrugging his shoulders off and putting his hands inside his pocket. “I mean we still think that one of the reasons why you don’t want to date is because of her.”
Ni-ki gulped and tried to keep his smirk. “What?” he let out a scoff. Making it seem like what his friend just said is very funny.
“No. I haven’t even seen her, we don’t even know if she’s true or my mind just created her..” he says, letting out his thoughts.
“Exactly.” Jungwon stated and taps his shoulder, “Then come come with me with the double date.” he even gave his friend this smile that he thinks can convince him. He looked pretty confident.
Ni-ki lets out a sigh. He knew how his friend can be persistent at times and even if he spare him today, he will try again some other day. He don’t want him annoying him about this matter again. One date won’t hurt him, right? Besides, he didn’t really told him that he should be in a relationship with that person. They will just go on a date and hang out.
“One date?” he tries to make sure his friend ain’t bating him into something funny.
Jungwon scoffed, “Yes, one date. Unless of course if you end up liking her and stuff.”
Ni-ki rolls his eyes and stood up once he saw their bus approaching. “That’s impossible.” he replied. Jungwon didn’t said anything else then just get on the bus with Ni-ki.
Once settled in, they both started talking about other stuff like video games and basketball. The date long forgotten.
Saturday came and Ni-ki was suddenly called in an emergency basketball practice. He cursed while trying to grab his gym bag and also his jersey. While going down the stairs, he almost missed one and fell. His mom furrowed her brows as she try to check on him. She got bothered by the noise he makes with all this rush.
“Ni-ki? I thought you will go out with Jungwon?” she asks, confused as to why he’s wearing a jersey.
“Oh shit.” he got stoned over his position right after remembering about the date he agreed to go to yesterday. It totally slipped off his mind because of the sudden call for practice.
“Language Nishimura Riki.” his Mom said strictly. He gave her a smile before kissing her forehead then jogged out of the house waving her good-bye.
“Sorry, bye Mom!” he says and continues.
While in a hurry, he fished his phone from his duffle bag and dialled his friend’s number. Jungwon picks up after two rings.
“Hey, where are you? I’m on my way to the meeting place right now.”
Ni-ki gulped, feeling slightly guilty for cancelling at the last minute. It’s not like he planned to ditch this date. It just happened that they were called in an unexpected practice because their coach will be gone the next day so he couldn’t train them. He moved the practice today.
“About that...” he started and stood over the waiting shed to wait for the bus.
“I can’t make it today, hyung. I’m sorry. We were called in for basketball practice.”
“What? I thought that's tomorrow?” his tone sound confused.
“Yes. But coached ask for us today since he’ll be going somewhere tomorrow.”
“Ah, is he going to the seminar too? I heard our school sends some of the teachers for it.” he mentions. He’s part of the student body, so it isn’t surprise anymore that he knows about this things.
“Probably.” Ni-ki sighs and silently cheered as he saw the bus driving close. He gets on right after it stopped in front of him. He clicked his card and sat down at one of the vacant seats.
“I’m really sorry, hyung. I didn’t mean to cancel on this.” he felt really bad. Not because he wanted to go, but he hates it whenever he couldn’t keep his word.
“That’s fine. I understand. I will just tell my girlfriend and her friend about it.” he seemed okay with it. Jungwon knows Ni-ki and he will never make an excuse just to get away on something.
Ni-ki glanced outside the window with blank thoughts. For some reasons, he felt something on his chest because he won’t go on that date. Its a little weird because he’s not really into it. He shrugged it off and focused back on talking to his hyung.
“Tell them I’m sorry too.”
Jungwon assured him that he will let them know which somehow made him felt relieved. He doesn’t want to look like a jerk who just ditch dates. That’s an asshole move. He ended the call with his friend and just spaced out the whole ride towards the school.
On the other hand, you let out a small groan when your friend dragged you towards somewhere. You can’t help but to imagine how good it would’ve been if you just stayed in your house today. Your books are probably waiting for you right now, but instead you are here with your friend. Going to a double date with his boyfriend’s friend.
She always brags about how good-looking his boyfriend is and that his circle of friends are all eye candy. She said none of them are ugly that she finds hard to believe. Well, due to being a book worm and a sucker for love stories, you kind of sets the standard high. Boys in your school find it hard to impress you, and that’s why you can’t seem to see yourself to date.
“I should be just in my room, reading my book.” you mumbled while she continues dragging you.
“No! I won’t let you be miserable today.” she says sounding so determined to make a change in your life.
You rolled your eyes and just let her do what she wants. When you arrived near the place she told you, you looked bored. As you roam your eyes around, you can see a lot of couple around. It seems like its a hot place to date nowadays. Your friend roams her eyes around, probably looking for her boyfriend.
You’ve seen his picture already. But this will be the first time for you to meet him in person and hangs out with him. Usually he just picks your friend at school and stuff. You can say he is pretty attractive. Even some students from your school knows him. Seems like he really is famous. Your friend is very beautiful as well so you can’t really blame him for falling for her.
“Baby!” she screams and even waved her hand crazily. You scoffed and slightly find it funny how she’s like this towards him.
She started dragging her towards somewhere once again. When you looked at the guy she hugged, he is tall, neat, have this pretty eyes and all. Just like how she usually describes him. But he ain’t your ideal type. His visual is too soft for you. You’re more on a mysterious vibes.
“Where’s your friend Ni-ki?” she asks and even tried to look for someone.
Ni-ki? Is that suppose to be the guy she was talking about? No offense but his name sounds like a girl’s name. You sighs and tried to stop yourself from overthinking before you spoil the mood.
Jungwon smiled apologetically and just by that you already figured out what he was about to say next.
“He had an emergency so he couldn’t make it today.” he sounded so sorry.
“What? But y/n is here...” she sounded a bit disappointed. She’s really excited to have you meet his friend, but now its not going to happen because he didn’t come.
A part of you are happy, because now you can escape from here. But a part of you is also pissed because you just wasted your time coming here. Three or four chapters are already finished if you didn’t come.
“It’s fine, (friend’s name).” you gently grab her arm and smiled at the two of them. She pouted at you, feeling bad that she dragged you all the way here for nothing.
When you looked at Jungwon, he's staring at you. He seemed drowned with his own thoughts, but when you met his eyes he then composed himself. You can see how his cheeks tinted red after getting caught staring.
“I’m sorry, y/n. My friend also said sorry. He didn’t really expect that he couldn’t make it today.”
You quickly smiled and assured him that it was alright. He’s not at fault and there’s no reason for you to be upset over him.
“It’s totally fine. You guys enjoy your date. I’ll go stop by at a bookstore.” you waved at him and gave your friend a hug.
“I’m sorry, y/n. If you want you can come with us.” she says pouting.
“No, spend quality time with each other. I’ll be good, don’t worry.” and you tapped her shoulder.
You glanced at Jungwon and you saw him staring at you again. “Keep her safe.” he nodded and reached for your friend’s hand. Honestly, you aren’t worried at all because you are sure that he will take care of her.
She waves cutely before you finally walked away. You suddenly felt annoyed once again, but comforts yourself that you can go stop by at one of the bookstores you wanted to check out.
Suddenly, the thought of that boys name popped out of your mind.
‘Ni-ki...’
You scoffed and tried to shove the thought of it away.
Tumblr media
“Waah, you’re painting again?” Ni-ki glanced over his friend when he suddenly appeared at the rooftop where he usually spends his free time. Jungwon have this amused look over his face before plopping himself down beside him.
Ni-ki nodded his head and resumes to what he was doing. He did mention his fondness over sketching and drawing people’s portrait. He just finds it interesting how he can put it into arts. He draws landscapes too, but he’s more on sketching people. For him, he enjoys it because he can notice how different one individual can be.
Out of all the portraits he had drawn, the portrait of the girl in his dreams is his favorite. Funny, because he never seen her before yet her portrait is what he likes the most.
He’s actually pretty sad about it because its been weeks ever since he saw her in his dreams. It doesn’t occur to often, but also not this long. A part of him is worried that she won’t show up anymore and that he’ll slowly forget about what she looks like.
“I can’t wait for later.” Jungwon says with a big smile over his lips, eyes glued at his phone screen.
Ni-ki scoffed and teared his gaze away from his friend. He perfectly knew what’s behind those big smiles of him.
“I’m actually surprised you’re not the one who transferred to her school. You’re the simp in the relationship.” he commented that made him snap his head at his direction. A frown was present over his face that made Ni-ki chuckle.
“No I’m not.” he denied.
“Yeah, and pigs fly.” he says before resuming on scribbling through his sketchbook.
He had practice before class so he went to school very early. He’s actually just got off from practice and he went straight here after taking a bath. His hair is even slightly damp.
“Oh, by the way.” Jungwon catches his attention once again. “Did I mention that her friend transferred with her?”
Ni-ki furrowed his brows. “What friend?” he asks, acting curious before he slowly went back on sketching.
Jungwon sighs, “The one you ditched last month, dude!” he exclaimed, finding it unbelievable how he already forgot abour ‘that friend’.
Ni-ki’s hand halts from moving and he was stoned at his position. For some reasons, he got a weird feeling about it. He felt his chest tightens and stomach churns. He couldn’t explain what it is, but he just shrugged it off thinking that maybe its just because he was too tired of practice.
After a couple of minutes, the bell rang and so both of them went down to their class. The hallway was packed with students trying to hurry themselves towards their respective rooms. Jungwon and Ni-ki arrived at class just in time. They sat down at their chairs and soon enough, their homeroom teacher arrived.
Ni-ki glanced over his friend while he pulls out his notebook and scoffed when he saw how excited he looked.
“Dude, your lips will rip any minute now. Cut it out.” he teased because he was smiling crazy.
Jungwon ignored him and he just shakes his head side by side. His eyes darted towards the front as their teacher started to orient them about the newcomers. He wasn’t surprised about ir anymore because his friend spoiled the news to him already. His gaze dropped down to the notebook and he flip the pages over the back of it. He grabbed his pencil and started sketching.
He can hear all the commotion inside the classroom, but he ignored them when he’s slowly getting drowned with his own world. The face of that girl popped up inside his mind. It was so random but he was used to it. Maybe, Ni-ki is missing her in his dreams already.
“Okay, please come in. Don’t be shy.” you heard the teacher says while you and your friend pushes each other who will go first.
She was left with no choice but to go first because you are too shy. When you both entered you can hear some of the students reaction. This is totally nerve wracking for you. You usually feel anxious around a new environment. When you roam your eyes around, you can see all of them looking at the two of you. It made you feel nervous.
One student tho, caught your attention. Unlike all of them, his focus is at whatever he was doing. For that moment, the teacher talking beside you suddenly became muffled. The boy just have this aura that pulled you to stare at him. You can’t help but to feel your stomach turning. These scenes are pretty familiar for you. As someone who loves reading books, you had imagined experiencing moments like this. To actually have it now is amusing for you.
“Ms. y/n?” you snapped back to reality and your stare got teared from the said boy. You looked over the homeroom teacher and they are staring at her.
You blushed, feeling embarrassed for spacing out. “U-Uhm,” you cleared your throat because you felt it slightly drying. “I’m Y/n L/n.”
They welcomed you warmly and after the teacher gave you few reminders, she started assigning you to your respective seats.
“And y/n, please sit down beside Mr. Nishimura.” she says and you roamed your eyes around to see who she’s referring to.
“Nishimura, raise your hand.” she instructed and your chest almost fell when you saw the boy from a while ago raising his hand. He was still busy with what he was scribbling so he didn’t turn his head to look at you.
The teacher just sighs out and asked you to take your seat. You thanked her and you slowly made your way. The boy still kept his attention to his notebook. When you pass by Jungwon, he gave you a wave and so you waved at him as well.
After settling down beside him, he still didn’t spared you any glance. You pursed your lips into a pout and suddenly, you felt like being friendly. He seemed very quiet and you planned to have a good school year.
“Hello, I’m y/n! I hope you take good care of me.” you said excitedly the moment you sat down beside this quiet kid. You noticed him not paying attention when you introduced yourself and so you did him a favor and repeat it for him.
Ni-ki lifts his gaze and was ready to accept your hand but he was stunned when he saw the exact girl he drew a portrait of. The one in his dreams.

“Hyung! I can’t believe you!” Ni-ki grabbed his hair out of frustration while leaning over the railings.
His friends are all watching him. Some are staring at him in a weird way and some are just smirking. He couldn’t pay attention to them teasing him because he have a much better thing to discuss.
Jungwon silently munches over his food and looked at Ni-ki. “I didn’t know it was her, okay? Maybe that’s why I found her familiar when I first saw her.” he says trying to defend himself.
“Wait, wait. So you’ve known the girl Ni-ki’s delulu about and you didn’t remember her?” Jay tries to summarize everything.
Jungwon frowned, “It’s not like I know her, hyung! I've met her once. The day when I set Ni-ki up a date with her.”
Ni-ki groaned and feel more frustrated. He couldn’t believe that he just missed that opportunity. The fact that he met the girl he was sketching for months and that you suddenly appeared out of nowhere is still unbelievable for him. Its like he’s laying in clouds right now.
Heeseung snorted, “The one you ditched because you have practice?” he asks Ni-ki and the boy just nodded his head. He and Jake laughed even more, giving each other's shoulders tugs.
“Ugh! What am I going to do? She seems upset when she heard my name. She didn’t talk to me after that too!” Ni-ki stated that earned more chuckles from his hyungs. They were clearly enjoying teasing the youngest. They’ve never seen him this stressed over something like this.
“Well, you’re already a bad shot that’s for sure.” Sunghoon says with a smirk.
Ni-ki stayed silent as his mind slowly and stared blankly. He looked pretty funny for his friends. Sunoo sighed and rolled his eyes while the others kept on teasing Ni-ki.
“What are your plans now, Ni-ki?” he asks. Out of all of them, he’s the one who seems pretty determined to help him first rather than laughing at his misery. They said real friends do that often. Sunoo’s real with Ni-ki, he just left that job to their other friends. He felt bad for him, he really is bothered about it.
“What do you mean?” the younger one looked clueless.
Sunoo rolled his eyes again.
“We all know how much you’re into her. Now, we may not understand how did it happened that the girl you are sketching which you never seen before, just happen to really exist, but what do you plan to do?” he stated.
Ni-ki is just listening carefully to him.
“She’s a new meat and you know what happens whenever there’s a new face at the campus.” Sunoo smirked. The boys got his point right away.
“Oh yeah, I’m sure she’ll be the talk of town for a while.”Jay.
Ni-ki furrowed his brows lightly and realized that they were right. That’s what usually happened. Now, he got more things to worry about.
“What about Jungwon hyung's girl? She’s new too.” he stated.
That made Jungwon furrow his brows. “They all know she’s very much taken so nobody would dare to even try.”
“Honestly, all I can think of doing is to make up to her since I ditched her and made myself look like a total jerk.” his tone sounded so stressed.
“That’s a good idea.” Jake stated, he finally managed to say something after laughing at his younger friend.
“Although I couldn’t seem to think what’s your fault since Jungwon already said that you are called in an emergency practice.” Sunghoon.
Ni-ki shrugs his shoulders off and throw his head back, staring at the clouds above them. They looked so peaceful and somehow ease his frustration. He couldn’t think of anything but you. He’s still amused at what just happened. He can’t believe that you actually exist. There’s no definite explanation to any of this. At the back of his mind, he do wish you are true. But now that he had come face to face to you, he can’t help but to have mixed emotions.
“I should’ve went there and told her myself that I was called in.”
“You were running late already that time, man.” Heeseung.
“Then be it.” the firmness of his tone just made them realized that he is sincerely sorry of what happened.
“What? Nishimura Riki? Will have himself late for basketball practice just so he can tell a girl that he’s called in?” Sunghoon's smirk are wide and wildly teasing. He let out a big sigh.
“Waah, is that really you? Basketball dude. We’re talking about basketball here.” he added.
Ni-ki rolled his eyes and his ears are starting to get red. His friends are well aware of how fond he is over to the girl in his sketches, now it just shows how much he really is into her. And he even just saw her today. Even him think its a little crazy.
On the other hand, you are thinking of Ni-ki as much as he’s thinking of you. His face truly is ethereal. The visual can pass as someone stripped out from one of the books you have read. His proportions are perfect as well, tall and long legged. His aura is slightly mysterious as well, although you still find it odd how he reacted when he looked at you a while ago.
Maybe because he knew he stood you up before. You scoffed lightly. You aren’t really mad about him and you know he isn’t at fault. But you can’t help but to feel a bit of disappointed, because that’s the first time you actually tried to go on a date with someone. You thought that fate already made a move on not making you two meet that time. Maybe that’s already a sign.
“He’s good looking, isn’t he? I told you!” she’s been talking about this one for 15 minutes already.
You can’t help but to roll your eyes. Ni-ki is indeed very good looking, but of course you won’t say that. She will surely tease you so much and you don’t need it for today.
“Do you like him?” she sounded like she’s expecting so much from your answer. Her eyes sparkles in excitement.
You stared at her in disbelief, “Do you actually think that I will like someone just because they’re good looking? Books don’t raised me to be like that.”
Instead of showing a disappointed expression, her smiled grew bigger and started pointing at you like she caught you or something.
“So you do think he is good looking!”
You got stunned by what she said. It was too late to realize what you have said and you can’t take it back or else you will look defensive.
“Whatever.” You just looked down your lunch and started to silently eat it. She started to tease you, but you chose to ignore her.
When you both returned to class, you felt so nervous of seeing him again. You actually don’t understand why, but you just did. Some of your classmates greeted you and you smiled at them, a little shy. Your eyes darted at your seat and the chair beside it is vacant.
You walked over and you even saw Jungwon rushing his way to his girlfriend. You sat down and your eyes took a short glance at Ni-ki’s seat. For an unknown reason, you felt a little sad. You shrugged it off and just grabbed your textbook for the next class.
“Hi y/n!” your eyes darted over to the guy who approached your table. He’s one of your classmates and also part of Ni-ki’s circle. Jungwon introduced the two of you a while ago to his friends, so you know.
You flash him a small smile and your eyes follows his hand as he put a banana milk on your desk. You stared at it a bit, confused then you eyed him.
“I’m Sunoo and that’s from Ni-ki! He asked me to give it to you since they’re called in practice.” he said and your eyes darted back at the banana milk.
The class then started to go seat at their chairs when the teacher for that subject arrived.
“Nice meeting you, bye!” he bid and quickly went to go sit down.
You didn’t even manage to say something to him. While the teacher starts his discussion, your eyes are still glued back to the drink on your desk. You slowly grabbed it and checked the note sticked to it.
‘Hope you enjoy this! :) — Ni-ki’
Your attention was called by your teacher. She asked you and your friend to introduce yourselves because you are new. Then she welcomed you both with a warm smile. After that, she asked you to take a seat so she can start the lesson already.
“Kindly turn your book to page 378.”
As you grab your textbook and start to turn its page, your eyes darted at the drink once again. You scoffed and a ghost smile appeared over your lips before you tried to concentrate to the lesson.
Dismissal came faster than you expected and Ni-ki didn’t showed up in class anymore that whole afternoon. You heard that they’re preparing for the big game and that Ni-ki is actually one of the star players. He really is important in the team. Somehow, you now really understand why he needs to ditch that day.
“Hello,” your heart almost fell when you saw Ni-ki standing right beside you. He’s wearing a plain black shirt and sweats while his duffel bag hangs over his shoulders. His hair looked a little damp, you assume he just finished practice.
You tried to keep your cool and glanced back at your locker. “Hi.” you shortly replied. It made him smile a little.
“Did you receive the banana milk?” he asks and leaned over the lockers. He glanced over the students passing by that greets him.
“Yes. What’s it for?”
He smiles, “I just want to give you one.”
You stared at him for a while before you resumed on arranging your things.
“If this is still about that day, you know you don’t have to give me one.”
He sighs then put his hands inside his pockets. He looked so attractive. Its so crazy to even think of it that way, but its just how it is. You don’t even understand how someone can look this good in just wearing plain black shirt and sweats.
“I know, I just want to.”
You kept his stares at you for a while before you nod your head and glance away. After closing your locker you start walking towards your friend. She’s smiling when she glanced at you and her eyes shifted at the person behind you. That’s when you realized Ni-ki followed you. Your heart races, but you still tried to keep your cool.
“I’ll g-go first. See you guys tomorrow.” you said and gave her a hug. She nods and waved at you telling you to stay safe.
While you’re walking out of the school, you looked over your shoulder because you can still feel someone following you. He smiled innocently and pulled his hand out of his pocket to wave.
“Hi.”
“Are you following me?” you tilt your head over to the side.
“Yes.”
“Why? Do you need anything?”
He pursed his lips, trying to suppress a smile. “Nah, I just want to walk you home. Can I do that?”
You blushed and quickly glanced away like as if you can get answer from somewhere. He kept his stares at you and Ni-ki can’t help but to admire how adorable you look.
“Uhm, I take a bus ride home.”
He nods, “Then I’ll wait for your bus with you. Is that all right?”
Your stomach turns while staring at his innocent looking eyes. The way that he kept asking for permission does something in your heart. How can he looked so intimidating, but be super soft? It’s crazy. You gulped and left with no choice but to let him do it.
He grins and slowly reach for your things so he can help you. That action definitely caught you off-guard, while he looks cool with it. It was almost like he’s very used to doing such things. Is he just really a gentlemen or a playboy? You can’t decide.
You walk beside him, slightly trying your best to keep up. When he noticed, he chuckled softly and stopped so he can wait for you. With a pout, you shoot him glares. “You walk so fast.” you mumble.
He let out another chuckle, “I’m sorry. Let’s go?”
You nodded your head and you both walked towards where your bus usually stops. Ni-ki was the one initiating the conversation which you find very nice because you are shy and you have no idea how to start it. Surprisingly, he isn’t that boring and also not that overwhelming for you. He’s actually very fun to talk to. You cannot believe you actually said it. That he’s fun to talk to.
When you saw the bus driving close, you glanced at him and awkwardly smiled.
“U-Uh, thank you for waiting with me.”
He nodded and gently passes you your bag. “You’re welcome. Get home safe.” and he waved his hand.
You nodded and quickly went to ride the bus. After settling down, you looked over Ni-ki who's still standing where you left him. He glanced at you then smiled when you two met eyes. You signalled him to go and he mouthed something like ‘After your bus left’ and even pointed at the bus.
When the bus started to go, he waved one last time. As it drove away, your mind was left with him. You don’t understand. This was the first time you met Ni-ki and his first impression was even not good for you, then why does it seem like its something else? You can’t point what really is it. All you know is that he made you feel things nobody else does before.
Tumblr media
A week has already passed and Ni-ki continued on joining you while you wait for your bus at dismissal. Sometimes he eat lunch with you and your friend, together with their group of friends. They’re all cool and funny. Its obvious how they get along pretty well.
“Here,” your eyes darted over to Ni-ki when he pulls out something from his pocket.
“What..?” he handed you this bookmark that left you a little speechless. It was a sketch of you. The one when you both are studying at the library.
You glanced at him with amused eyes, “Did you draw this?”
He smiled and nodded, “Yes. I told you I do sketches.”
You are still amazed at how good he is so you couldn’t really say anything right away. Your eyes dropped at the pretty bookmare once again and you stared at it. He’s very good, very talented.
“I didn’t know you are this good.”
He chuckles, “Thank you.”
You glanced back at him and smiled, “Thank you for this. I will use this.”
He smirked happily, feeling his heart jumped after knowing you enjoyed and appreciated his small gift for you.
“You better.” he joked that made you chuckle.
As you spend more time with him, the more you get to know Ni-ki. He’s not just amazing, he’s very ideal for you. He’s funny, playful, caring and so much more. You can’t believe you’re actually getting interested over somebody. Fictional characters usually makes you blush, but he’s a real person. He’s real and making your stomach go crazy because of his actions.
“Hi beautiful.” your head snaps over to your side when someone sat down.
A smile quickly made its way over your lips when you saw who it is. It’s Ni-ki and he’s wearing a plain white t-shiry, paired by a black slacks. His hair still a bit damp while he put his duffel bag down at floor. He pulled out a banana milk from it and put it on your table.
“Good morning, how’s practice?” you gently asked and even before you can stop yourself, your hand reached over his hair and softly brush it away from his eyes.
Ni-ki gulped and felt his heart thumping by the affection. You pursed your lips and instantly got shy when your eyes met. You glanced away and pulled your hand away from his hair. He smirks and bite his lower lip.
“It was good. Coach is being a little rough with us tho, because the competition is next month.” he says and you nodded.
“Good luck with your games.” you tried hard to maintain an eye contact even if you can feel your whole face heating up.
“You’ll watch, right?”
Your eyes roamed over his handsome face. They looked so soft, almost hypnotizing you into agreeing to watch his games. You caught your lower lip between your teeth and again, you stretch your hand to brush his hair off.
“Yeah, I’ll watch.” and his stares soften more, if that’s possible. He looked so good. Ni-ki looked so handsome right in front of you. You can’t explain the feeling that you are having right now. It’s uncomfy, how your stomach churns but if he was the reason of it, you’ll want to experience it over and over again.
“Good.” he says and kept the eye contact before gently grabbing your hand to slightly intertwin your hands.
He pulled it closer to his face and placed a small kiss over your hand, “You look so beautiful.” he mumbled.
You gasped lightly and glanced away. He chuckled lightly then he helped you opening the banana milk. Soon enough, your classmates arrived and your day continued. The days passes by too quickly and you just grew closer with Ni-ki.
Another week passed by after that. You mostly spent it with your friend and Ni-ki. He’s usually around you, accompanying you. Some even said that you two are starting to get inseparable. Of course your friend couldn’t stop teasing you about it. She wants you and Ni-ki to be together so bad. Before you get annoyed by her constantly talking about it, but now the idea doesn’t seem to be bad for you. Its just, Ni-ki isn’t saying anything about it. You don’t know if he likes you the way you like him.
“Ni-ki! Valo later?” a smile appeared across your face when you heard a voice from somewhere says that. Soon, you can feel a figure approaching close to you and a hand gently reaching for your bag.
“I don’t know. I’m busy later.” Ni-ki responded. You heard his friend complained about something that he don't join them anymore and somehow you felt guilty, because you clearly know what keeps him ‘busy’.
A hand rests over the small of your back, asking for attention. You turn your head and smiled at him.
“Hi. How’s practice?”
“Good. Was the food good?” he asks curious, his hand now caressing your back gently.
“Yes. Thank your Mom for me.” he gave you lunch a while ago and he said that his Mom cooked it for you.
He nods and smiled then waits patiently until you can go. After a couple of minutes, both of you are off to go at your bus stop. It’s Saturday tomorrow, so you don’t really know what to do. Maybe you’ll just read some books or go out to look for more books.
“What are you up to tomorrow?”
Your head snaps at his direction while the two of you walks side by side. “Nothing. Maybe read some books.” and you even shrug your shoulders off.
“Do you want to go with me?” he glanced away while his ears turns red. He’s incredibly cute so you can’t help but to smile.
“Go with you? Where?”
“Double date.” his eyes dropped over his hands before he slowly raised to look at you.
“Are you asking me out?” your lips almost trembled because of the idea. It excites you.
“Yes.”
You pursed your lips and jokingly squinted your eyes at him, “Do you promise not to ditch me again?”
He chuckles, “I promise.” and even raised his left hand. Your smile fell and you shoot him glares.
“Its suppose to be your right hand!” and you swat his arm. He laughs and fixed it, “Oh my bad, I’m left handed.” he joked.
“So is that a yes?” and he stretch his hand to brush some of your hair off of your face. The slight touch of his skin to yours makes you blush right away.
“Yes.” and you even nodded.
This time, you're the one who reach for his face to pinch his nose lightly.
“All right.” he smiled and held your hand to intertwin your hands.
“Let’s call later?” he asks that made you pout. Your eyes looked over your holding hands. Ni-ki noticed that its a bit cold so he took your hands and put it inside his pocket.
“You should join your friends on playing valo. We’ve been facetiming each other every night.”
He shakes his head, “Nah, I’m not in the mood to play anyway.”
“They’ll start to be suspicious.”
He shrugged his shoulders off, “They know I’m talking to you.”
Your eyes grew a bit big and you blushed just by thinking his friends are aware of it. Ni-ki smirked.
“You’re so beautiful.” he mumbled and just in time, your bus arrived.
Your mind is still occupied even after you ride your bus and it left. His actions and his words all leads to one conclusion, but you still keep yourself from assuming things.
The next day, you woke up early to prepare. You don’t understand, but you are so excited to see Ni-ki. Not that you don’t see him at school, its just different to hang out on weekends.
When you arrived the place where you are suppose to meet the first time, your brows slightly furrowed. All you can see is Jungwon and your friend. No Ni-ki can be seen.
“Where’s Ni-ki? Is he late?” you asked right away.
“Huh? No! He’s...” your friend roamed her eyes around. “right there!” she added.
You looked over your shoulder and saw him walking closer while holding a cup of coffee. He's smiling so big and so you did too, but your eyes trailed down to what he's wearing. It's his jersey.
“You have practice?” you asked, confused.
He nods his head, “I’ll take you with me.”
Your eyes grew big, “To your practice?”
He nodded again, finding you adorable.
“B-But are you even allowed to take me?” you are worried, but you want so bad to go. You’ve never been in their practice.
“Yes. Then after that, we’ll go check some bookstores.” he says excitedly.
“Bookstores?”
He pulled out a piece of paper that shows a list of bookstores around. You pursed your lips into a pout, completely moved over what he did. You hugged him and he was caught off-guard.
“Thank you!”
He broke into a soft smile and dropped a kiss at your forehead, “Anything for you.”
You both bid good-bye to your friend and Jungwon before you walk hand in hand towards the bus stop. Ni-ki assists you to ride and ask you to take a sit while he beep his card to pay for the two of you.
While on the way to school, you enjoy the coffee he ordered for you. He enjoys watching you at the same time. You offered him a sip, but he declined. Soon enough, you both arrived the school. You can barely see people inside, just some maintenance people and some school personels.
You two went straight to the gym. You can already hear the sound of shoes and basketball echoing inside. He gently guided you inside and you started feeling shy when you felt them eyeing you. Once they seen who it was, they started teasing Ni-ki. He can’t help but smile while he guides you at the benches. He sets his bag down beside you and ask if you’re all right. You nodded, despite the blushing cheeks.
“You can watch or read your books.” you nodded and he started jogging towards the court after he took off his plain t-shirt.
You don’t know much about basketball, but surprisingly you enjoyed watching him play. He’s very attentive and you can really tell how he pour everything to things he like doing. He’s full of passion over it.
A loud honk errupted all over the gym, signalling that the practice is now over. Their coach blew the whistle then asked them over. They all approached him and you think he started telling them about the things he noticed. After a couple of reminders, they let them go.
“I’ll just take a quick shower.” he said and you nodded your head before he goes and left you.
While waiting for him, you noticed that a group of players stormed inside. Base on their uniform, they seem like the volleyball team. You didn’t mind them and just busy yourself with your phone.
A pair of shoes caught your attention when it enters your line of sight.
“Hi!” a guy wearing a jersey with a number ‘04’ smiled in front of you. He have this clean haircut and a pretty set of teeth.
“U-Uhm, hello.” you awkwardly greeted.
“Why are you here? Practice? Or waiting for someone who had practice?”
“Waiting for someone.” you answered right away.
He nodded his head while pursing his lips, “Who?”
“Me.” both of you turn your head over to the side.
Ni-ki’s walking closer while having both of his hands inside his pocket, duffle bag hangs over his shoulder and his hair a bit damp. His eyes looked so serious while staring straight to the guy who approached you.
“Nishimura, huh?” he sounds a bit amused.
Your view of him got covered when Ni-ki stood in front of you. He tilt his head, “What do you want?” he asked him straightly.
“What is this? Are you finally over with your dream girl?” his tone taunting him. Your brows furrowed at what he said, confused and curious at the same time as to what he was talking about.
“Shut up.” Ni-ki took advance, but you are quick to grab him by his arm. He glanced at you and his eyes soften.
“Let’s just go.” you plead lightly.
He clenched his jaw hard before he glanced back at the guy. His friends approached closer as well so you somehow you felt at ease.
Thankfully, none of them engaged into a much more trouble and decided to just go leave each other. Ni-ki bid good bye to his hyungs before gently grabbing your hand to take you away. Your mind is still occupied about what that guy said a while ago. The one with Ni-ki’s dream girl. What was that? A part of you felt curious and a part of you doesn’t want to ask about it. You’re afraid to know what his answer would be.
When you arrived at the bus stop, he draws in a strained sigh. He looked a little frustrated.
“I’m sorry that you have to see that.” he apologized, probably referring to him almost getting caught in fight.
You pursed your lips, trying to get rid of that thought and focus on what he is saying right now. “It's f-fine.” was all you can respond.
You wanted to say more, so he wouldn’t caught on you overthinking and stuff, but none came out from your mouth. Your mind couldn’t process anything. Are you that comfortable with Ni-ki that you’ll just let him see through you?
He pursed his lips and sighed once again. You watch him do that and look a bit nervous. He’s obviously holding back on telling you something. It made you nervous as well, what it may be.
“About what he said a while ago,” he started that caught your whole attention. Your thoughts instantly pushed at the back of your mind and the noises around suddenly muffled.
He gulped and his hand plays through your hand that he was holding. Ni-ki’s very nervous to how you will react about this. He knew better than to keep this and make you overthink.
“Promise me first that you won’t find it weird.” he stared straight to your eyes, hopeful.
You nodded your head unconsciously.
“This may sound crazy, but I’ve seen you in my dreams before.” he says and kept his stares at you.
You blinked, confused. Totally confused. You almost think that you’ve heard it wrong or he’s trying to pull a prank on you. But his serious face and the fear in his eyes says otherwise. He’s completely serious, leaving you in wonder of what he was talking about.
“O-Okay..?” you tried to say something that better than it, but you failed.
Ni-ki sighed and lets go of your hand, embarrassed. “You think I’m weird.” he mumbled.
A smile crossed your lips and you quickly took a hold of his hand, now holding it. “No, I don't!” he looked at you and you try hard to suppress a smile.
“You’re laughing.”
That caused a chuckle to escape from your lips, “It’s because you’re cute!” you try to pull him again because he’s trying to turn his back so you wouldn’t see his blushing face.
“Cute? Stop kidding me, y/n.” he says and glanced away, cheeks tinted red and so does his ears.
Soon, your bus arrived so you hold your conversation first. Both of you went inside and sat down at a vacant chairs. He was still avoiding your eyes and you’re trying to catch them.
“So, you dreamt of me?” you tried opening the topic again. He groaned, embarrassed still.
“If you’ll just going to make fun—”
“No! I’m really curious about it. I promise, I’m not making fun of you.” and you tried to look as serious as you can. He sighed and nodded his head.
“How do I look like in your dreams? Do I look just like this?” you asked, curious.
He stared at you, his embarrassment now long forgotten. His eyes stared over your eyes, down to your nose, your cupid's bow and your lips. He carefully scanned each and every one of your features, admiring them.
“You looked more beautiful in person. My drawings can’t do justice in that face of yours.” he said in a very sincere and serious tone.
This time, you’re the one to get shy because of his compliment. He always tell you that you’re pretty, but this time its a little more intimate. You can’t help but to blush a bit more than normal.
Ni-ki took your silence as an opportunity and gently held your hand. Your eyes dropped over them for a while before you glanced back to his eyes.
“I don’t want you to think that I liked you only because you look like the girl in my dreams. I admit, that was one of the reason why I got interested, but you as a person is what made me like you.”
“You l-like me?” you are totally caught off guard.
He smirked then chuckled, “Isn’t it obvious?” he then leaned over to give your cheeks a light kiss. “I like you very much.”
Tumblr media
“When are you going to show me your drawings?” you asked him one afternoon. You’re at the rooftop, hanging out since its your vacant hour. He decided to take you here with him. He says its his most favorite spot in school and he’s sharing it with you because you’re his most favorite person.
“Probably soon, baby.” he glanced at you and smiled when he saw your pout before leaning in to give you a kiss at your cheeks.
“But I want to see it.”
“Soon.” he gave your cheeks a light tap before he continues to draw again. This time, you sighed and just let it slide. You don’t want to force him even if you’re already dying out of curiosity.
Its already been two weeks ever since you knew about these drawings and Ni-ki’s confession. You haven’t told him yet that you like him as well, you’re waiting for a perfect time.
You focused on reading once again. You read one sentence. Read it again. Again. And again. You put your book down when you realized you couldn’t understand anything. Ni-ki on the other hand looked too hooked over his drawings. A smile forms your lips just by watching him too focused. He looked so ethereal. How can he call you pretty all the time when he’s the one looking like this?
While you’re spacing out, you had come up with a bright idea to confess toda with Ni-ki. Of course, you don’t want it to be just plain. So you came up with a plan to take Ni-ki to your special place.
“Do you want to go with me later?”
He lift his gaze from his sketchbook towards you, “Where are you taking me?” he even gave you this funny face, like as if he’s scared and that you’re planning something horrible to him.
You rolles your eyes and leaned in to place a peck over his cheeks, “Don’t be dramatic. I’ll tell you where later.” you stood up and flattened your skirt, Ni-ki helped on fixing it because it strides up while you’re sitting.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Going to buy something and look for (friend’s name). You want something?”
He shakes his head, “Do you want me to come with you?”
You told him you’re good and he just nodded his head. Ni-ki have no clue that you are planning to confess to him. You are too excited when you told your friend about your plan and she was as excited as you. She thinks the two of you are perfect for each other.
“Bye, y/n!” she waves and smiles meaningfully at you.
Ni-ki nods at her way and to his hyung while putting his arms around your shoulder, pulling you closer to him. You are waiting for the bus because you told him you will take him somewhere. He even teases you that you are planning something to him which you just respond with an eye roll.
“So where are we going?” he asks for nth time when you rode the bus.
“Can you just stop asking and wait?” you spat at him that made him chuckle.
“All right. I can’t help but to feel excited, this is the first time you asked me out on a date.”
You gave him a teasing smile, “Who said this is a date?”
His smile fell, “Okay, I’m going down at the next stop.”
You chuckled and grabbed his arm tighter, “I’m kidding! You’re such a baby.”
He smirked and leaned his cheek at you, asking for a kiss. You rolled your eyes and gave in, giving him a peck before you two slowly talk about something.
Arriving at your stop, Ni-ki furrowed his brows when you took him at a memorial park. He didn’t ask anything and just followed behind silently. He held your hand tighter when he noticed how your eyes flashes sadness and longing.
You glanced at his direction after you felt him tugging your hand. The worry over his eyes touches your heart. “Let’s go.” and you started pulling him towards the grave of one of the most important person in your life. Your Dad.
“Hi Dad!” you smiled and waved before you crouched down to take out some leaves all over his gravestone. Ni-ki didn’t waste any time and quickly helped you. A warm smile spread across your face.
“Hello, Sir. I’m Nishimura Riki.” he introduced himself and even bowed.
Your eyes got teary just by seeing him paying respect. You draws in a big sigh then glanced at your Dad’s grave.
“Remember when I cried here, Dad? Because I feel like nobody will take care of me and love me. Well, I am back.” you smiled as your eyes heats up and form tears. “But this time I’m with Ni-ki.” you looked over him and he’s staring at you with that worried and affectionate eyes of his.
You laid your hand and he hold your hand tightly before placing a sweet kiss. “He takes care of me, Dad.”
Ni-ki leaned in and kissed your cheeks this time before turning to your Dad’s grave. “You don’t have to worry about her too much, Sir. I will make sure she’s okay. I will take care and love her with all of me.”
Your eyes grew a bit big and you stared at him in awe. He smiled and raised his hand to wipe your tears away.
“I love you.” he said sincerely that made you teary even more.
“I love you too, Ni-ki.” this time, it was his turn to be surprised.
He cupped your face, “Say it again.”
You chuckled, “I love you.”
“I love you more.” and he lean to give you a peck over your lips. He pulled away after a couple of kisses then he rests his forehead at yours.
“Do you think your Dad will be mad that I kissed you?” that made you chuckle so you pull away a bit to look at his eyes.
“I guess so.” you joked and this time, you leaned in to give him a kiss. Ni-ki closed his eyes and even followed your lips for more.
“That’s her. She kissed me.” and he even pointed at you like a kid.
You rolled your eyes and you rest your head over his shoulder. The two of you stayed like that for a while. After that, you pulled Ni-ki to the place near the memorial park, its like a cliff where you can see the whole city lights below.
You walked over the railings and you let the breeze blew over your hair while you stare blankly at the pretty view. On the other hand, Ni-ki was stunned. He was stoned at his position while he stare at you. This scene is very familiar to him.
You glanced over him as the air blow over your hair and Ni-ki’s heart thumped faster. It was the scene in his dreams. Now, he was certain that it was really you and he was destined to meet you.
He smiled, a tear left his eye before he caged you in a tight embrace. He enjoys his passion and the art he was doing, but you made him fell deeper to it. You are his favorite art piece and now, his favorite person.

Something was wrong.
He could feel it, down in his bones. The worker lady shouldn’t have walked away. His cage shouldn’t be unlocked. They were supposed to take his food away, now that it was on the ground and ruined. He would’ve eaten as much as he could once her back was turned, if only everything wasn’t so wrong.
He hadn’t meant to spill. He wasn’t trying to be bad. He was just too big…and he’d been too clumsy to remember where the bowl was. Now something was wrong, and it was his fault. If only he’d stayed still. If only he’d—
Footsteps. His ears perked up at the sound. Not from a worker; they were too light. And not from an officer; they always wore boots. These were new. New, strange…and getting louder.
Uh-oh.
The worker lady hadn’t locked his cage. The only thing that separated him from the outside was a thin curtain. And the footsteps were growing louder.
Every muscle tensed. A growl began to rise in the back of his throat. And before he could bark a warning, or squeal for help, a hand reached out and pulled back his only shield from the outside world.
“No!”
The worker lady shouted too late. The bright sun stung his eyes, and every inch of him was visible to everyone.
Before he knew it, the growl had burst free from his throat.
The stranger gasped and stumbled back. He growled louder, baring his teeth. Stay back. Stay away!
The worker woman was at the strangers’ side in a blink. “Are you OK?” She asked.
The stranger nodded, face pale.
“I’m so, so sorry! I should’ve warned you. I thought he’d gotten over this because he’d been quiet for so long, but…”
“H-h-h-h-h-h…”
The stranger talked funny. Her words got stuck in her throat, and sometimes the only thing that made it out was the first letter. She would’ve gotten beaten for that, if she was a pet.
“H-he…D…dangerous?”
“No, no! Like I said, he’s not a risk to anyone. He’s just…intimidating. That’s why I—”
“Scared.”
His ears perked up. What did she say?
“H-h-he’s…scared. Not h-his fault.”
She…knew?
The growl still rumbled in his throat, but it was softer now. He wanted to hear her every word.
“I…I did it too.”
His nose slowly nudged the cage door open. It creaked a little, causing them to gasp. He stepped forward, his eyes curious.
Go on. Tell more.
“W-w-when I was a ch-child.” The stranger said. “It was e-e-easier to growl than t-t-t-t-t-talk. S-so I growled. S-s-scared everyone a-away.”
He didn’t want to scare. He didn’t want to want to scare. But if they came close, they could scream. They could kick. They could add another scar to the collection. He didn’t want that. He couldn’t help it.
“That's why I w-w-w-w….w-why I wanted to fos-foster. T-they’re just scared.”
Like me.
The stranger was moving forward. Her hand was reaching out. He growled. He growled and snarled, and then took a step forward. Another.
Her hand rested against the top of his head. He loved it. He hated it. He wanted to run. He wanted to stay.
The stranger cleared her throat. The noise made him flinch.
“H-h-he c-comes with me.”

I am very humbled and grateful for all the support my past snippet has received over the past few days. It was never meant to go past the initial scenario of a part 1 and a part 2, and I'm sorry if I raised anyone's expectation of this being a long-running series. Writing is very taxing for me as of late, and I'm trying to not burn myself out while trying to get back into the habit of creating work. Thank you for understanding, and for your kind words.

BAU x reader - here with you
Tumblr media
Hey lovely! I hope you’re doing well, unfortunately I am in an inpatient mental health unit at the moment, so that’s why I haven’t made any requests in a while! Please can I make a new request? I was wondering if you were okay with writing it; could you possibly write a BAU x Reader where the reader is committed to a mental health hospital and the BAU go to visit him & bring him gifts and make sure he doesn’t feel alone? I’ve not had any visitors and I’m feeling a bit forgotten about and this would massively help if you feel comfortable! If not, maybe a different scenario would be a team member having a difficult time at work mentally and the BAU making sure he has the support he needs? - @the-imitation-blog 💜
TW: mentions of mental health struggles
A room full of profilers of course would notice immediately when you didn’t quite seem like yourself.
They noticed you seemed to withdraw into yourself, and they knew you of course.
If you didn’t want to talk about it they wouldn’t be able to make you talk about it, and they didn’t want to pry into your business.
So they did what they could for you.
First it started with Garcia coming over to your desk, two cups in her hand and she set one down in front of you.
“Hey sweetness, how’re you feeling today?” She asked softly.
“Yeah.. I’m alright..”
“Are you sure? You know you can always talk to me right?”
“I know, but it’s alright.”
She smiled.
“Alright, well, how about a movie night then, we’ll just watch some action movies or something.”
You thought about this for a moment before nodding your head.
“Yeah, that sounds nice. What about the others?”
“I’ll ask!”
Garcia excitedly got up and began to run around and ask everybody.
You would’ve preferred to be alone, but you knew either way you weren’t going to be getting away from them.
Though you wanted to be alone, you thought maybe the company would help you escape your own mind prison for while.
So, after work that night they all came around to your apartment to watch films with you.
You sat between Emily and Rossi, and you just stared at the TV, not really paying much attention to it.
“Hey..”
You turned to Emily and she smiled at you, taking your hand to give it a small squeeze.
“You’re okay..” she whispered.
You gave him a little smile and went back to watching the film.
You still couldn’t focus, so you sighed heavily, resting your head on the back of the couch.
You saw Hotch stand behind you and he gestured for you to follow him, so you got up and excused yourself from the others to follow him to the kitchen.
“What’s going on (Y/N)? This isn’t usually like you.” Hotch said.
You sighed again, leaving back against the counter.
“I’ll be okay Hotch.”
“Maybe you will, but I want you to know you’re not alone. Everybody in the other are prepared to stay here for as long as they need to if that’s what you need.”
“No.”
He nodded.
“Then what do you need?”
“I don’t… I don’t know Hotch. I just.. I don’t know if I want to be alone, if I want company. I don’t know if I want to cry or hit something. I just.. I don’t know..”
“And that’s okay, you don’t have to.”
You turned to the doorway and JJ walked in with the rest behind her.
“We know sometimes things can get a bit much, it can for any of us.” Derek said.
“Exactly, and that doesn’t mean you have to go through it by yourself.” Rossi spoke.
You nodded a little.
“Just having somebody with you can ease the feeling, and it can help with the process of getting better.” Reid said.
“Whatever you need, just say it, it’s what we’re here for.” Garica smiled.
She walked over and hugged you, you hugged her back, and the others joined in for a group hug.
And it was nice, it wasn’t often you let them hug you but this time it was just something you needed.
You felt safe, and you felt like right now in this moment in time nothing in the world could hurt you.
The darkness in your head and the shadows that surrounded your world right now couldn’t get to you because they were protecting you.
“Thank you..” you whispered.
You weren’t better, and it would take a while for you to feel better, but you were glad to know that you weren’t alone

chapter 2
Eren’s P.O.V
The cabin was quiet. Not suspiciously quiet. But it was the first quiet afternoon that Eren had witnessed in years. These days you were lucky to go even one minute without hearing the horrors of this world. And now here Eren sat, getting whole hours filled with those sweet, silent minutes. Save the interruptions that were gifted from the crackling fire he had started up in the stone fireplace and the occasional creak of the floorboards that filtered in through the kitchen door, no doubt coming from the stranger that had infiltrated their refuge.
It was safe to say that Eren was reluctant to let this woman stay the night. Which was the nice way of putting how he felt about it. He was so close to ending her life. To rid himself of yet another burden. But something stirring deep in his stomach forced him to hold back. Maybe it was the idea of murdering a woman who did nothing more than help them. Or maybe it was the words she used. Or the way she felt under his arms…
Or maybe, he didn’t want to be stuck with her damn dog if he did kill her. Surely Gabby would’ve made him keep the thing, not wanting her to be without an owner. And no matter how many different endings to this encounter he had thought through, whether the woman stayed alive or not, he knew that the dog was now a nuisance in his life. At least for the time being. Confirmed by the way the dog sat up straight, posted in front of the door, her eyes trained on him from the other side of the room.
“Fucking creepy ass dog.” He muttered under his breath as he stared back from his spot on the couch. His arm outstretched on the back of the furniture, his knees spread, giving barely any room if someone had wanted to sit next to him.
“What was that?” Gabby asked, her eyes flicking up from the comic book in her hands, her legs dangling off the side of the plush armchair that she had perched on the moment that Eren gave her the signal that they were in the clear.
“Nothing.” Eren told her. The young girl narrowed her eyes at him. Surely knowing he had more to say about the situation they found themselves in. All these months together, from the moment he found her abandoned by her own group, she had found a way to read through the rough interior he had built up over the years. She opened her mouth to call him out on his bullshit, something she had a knack of doing, but before any snarky words could leave her lips the kitchen door swung open.
“Good news, Eleanor, these people had a dog.” Y/N grinned as she practically skipped into the living room, various cans collected in the crooks of her arms.
Ellie finally stopped her staring contest with Eren, bounding up to her owner and jumping at the sight of food.
“Nothing for humans unfortunately.” She told the rest of the room, setting the cans she collected onto the dining room table that sat in front of the window overlooking the meadow. “I think someone might’ve broken in through a window or something. Raided through this place and took all the good stuff”
“That’s fine.” Eren said, “We have our own rations.”
“Good, ‘cause Ellie doesn’t like to share.” She teased, turning towards the backpack she discarded by the front door, procuring a metal dog bowl from its confines. Eren rolled his eyes as Gabby snickered into the pages of her comic book.
A flash of silver glinted throughout the room, Y/N’s knife reflecting light gifted by the fire as she punctured the can of dog food. Scooping out the entirety of its contents, the sludge plopped into the bowl, sounding completely unappetizing to anyone who wasn’t a dog.
“Eat up, sweet girl.” Y/N cooed softly as she pushed the bowl closer to her companion, who dug into the food without hesitation. Eren didn’t even realize he was watching her until she spoke again. He quickly averted his gaze to the fire, not looking up until he felt her presence shift into the empty armchair that sat directly in front of the couch. He chanced another look at her. Luckily she was preoccupied with another can she must’ve gotten from her backpack, the label advertising the Sweetest Peach You’ll Ever Eat.
“Do you want some?”
Eren stared too long. She held up the can with a raised eyebrow, as if that was what caught his attention.
“No.” He said curtly, looking back at the fire.
“How about you?” The woman turned her attention towards the kid.
“Are those peaches?” Gabby sat up straight, her interest piqued. Comic forgotten as it slid to the floor.
“They sure are.” She laughed, “You interested?”
“Fuck yeah!” Gabby exclaimed, greedily snatching the can from Y/N’s outstretched hand. She didn’t bat an eye at Gabby’s abrasiveness. She simply laughed, sitting back in her seat as she watched the teenager indulge herself. Eren had to give her props. He definitely wasn’t as forgiving when he first met her.
“Don’t fucking swear.” Eren grunted towards the girl.
“Such a double standard.” She said through a mouthful of peaches, passing the can back to Y/N and rolling her eyes in the process. “And you know how I get around peaches.”
“You like them?” Y/N asked, interrupting any snide remark Eren had, tilting the can towards her lips so she could have a taste herself.
“They’re my favorite.” Gabby told her, crossing her legs beneath her, the leather surface of the chair squeaking as she did.
“Mine too.” Y/N smiled at the girl after she swallowed. “I have a couple of cans if you wanna take one.”
Gabby’s eyes lit up, her mouth opening to express some form of gratitude. Eren interrupted her before she could.
“Are you sure you wanna give up your supply like that?” He asked her, eyes narrowed. Y/N raised a shoulder in a half shrug.
“Why not?” She responded, “I have plenty where that came from. It’ll lighten my load.”
“You don’t have to do that.” Gabby piped up, seemingly remembering her manners in a matter of seconds and perhaps finding fault in her eagerness to take someone else’s rations from Eren’s question, “Food is a hot commodity these days.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Y/N assured her, “Besides with any luck I won’t have to worry about food for much longer.”
“What, are you planning some sort of suicide?” Eren deadpanned. Gabby’s jaw dropped, her eyes widening at him in disbelief. He didn’t notice her warning stare, his eyes trained on the woman in front of him.
“I was thinking murder-suicide.” The woman smirked without batting an eye, “Much more classy, don't you think?”
“She’s kidding.” Gabby laughed nervously as she noticed Eren’s jaw clench, and then in a hushed tone towards Y/N, “You’re kidding right?”
“I’d be dead if I weren’t, wouldn’t I?” She responded, nodding towards Eren’s hand, which hadn’t moved from the gun that sat on his waist the minute he had sat down. “I think your friend might have a sense of humor, after all.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure.” Eren murmured, flexing his hand over his gun, making sure the woman noticed.
“Aren’t you just a ray of sunshine?” Y/N articulated, sarcasm dripping from her words.
“As opposed to your cynicism?” Eren retorted. “You know I’m surprised that you made it this far, with an attitude like that.”
“Oh and you survived on what?” Y/N questioned, “The stick up your ass?”
“Okay!” Gabby interrupted, jumping up from her seat, garnering the attention from everyone in the room before a full on shootout transpired in the small cabin, “Let’s change the subject.”
“Why won’t you be needing your food?” Gabby then asked, sitting back down on the chair, her feet planted properly on the floor this time, just in case she needed a quick getaway.
“It’s where I’m headed.” Y/N explained, “I heard there’s a safe zone in Shiganshina. They have food, walls… everything.”
“You really believe that?” Eren scoffed, crossing his arms, “Every government sanctioned safe zone was torn apart within a week of this starting. You’re not going to find anything.”
“That's the thing, it's not the government.” Y/N replied, making it a point to ignore the rudeness in his tone. “This one was made by people. People just like you or me. Remember what I told you? The best things that happen are when we come to work together. It’s the best chance of survival.”
“How do you know this place even exists?” It was Gabby’s turn to question her, though she had far less skepticism in her voice than her older counterpart. It even sounded like there was a hint of hope in her question.
“Word of mouth.” Y/N said, a tad too vaguely for Eren’s liking. She seemed to have noticed his disinclination when she continued on. “It’s not much to go off of but it’s better than just wandering around out there trying to find new ways not to die.”
Silence fell over the room at her unexpectedly morbid choice of words, a contradiction to the usual carefree demeanor that they had gotten used to during the short amount of time they had spent together. Y/N was the first to speak up again.
“I think that safe zone might be the only chance to actually have a future.” She said softly. “If you want to join me?”
Gabby looked at Eren, something flickering behind her eyes that gave him an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach.
“We’ll take our chances.” He said simply, hoping that the finality of his words would end the conversation.
“You really want her to grow up like this?” Y/N asked, taking Eren by surprise. His eyebrows knitted together, letting the question hang in the air. He was a little pissed off that she was acting like she knew what was best for the kid, as if she had any right to put in her two-cents. But what ticked him off even more was that she might be onto something.
Sure, the two of them had made it this far. They were used to the lifestyle, coming and going and never truly having a place to call home. Surviving was second nature. And Eren seemed to have a certain knack for it. But even he knew that their luck would eventually run out. And he couldn’t keep both the girl and himself alive forever. Maybe this offer that was being handed to him so effortlessly, was something worth taking.
“Like I said, there's a future there for her.'' The woman spoke up, pulling Eren away from his thoughts. Then added, with a teasing tone, “And who knows, maybe there’s one for you too, old-timer.”
“Old-timer?” Eren scoffed through Gabby’s laughter that pierced the room. Though he was slightly grateful for the distraction from making any big decisions. “I’m not that much older than you.”
“I’d say you’re at least a decade older than me.” Y/N said, trying to hide her grin. “Give or take a few years.”
“I’m thirty-two.” Eren snapped, weirdly becoming defensive over his age. Something that he had never felt the need to do before. It was as though he needed to prove something to this woman, who was now staring at him with an amused expression.
Y/N clicked her tongue in feigned disappointment, “Four years off.”
“How old are you?” Gabby asked, clearly too lazy to do the math. Even if Eren had been taking the time to teach her throughout the quiet moments of their journey. Though, she did always hate when he forced her to answer complicated math questions while they traveled through the countryside. She would complain about why she would ever have the need to know multiplications when they should be focused on surviving. Eren always argued that it was best to keep a sharp mind.
“Twenty-six.” Eren answered for her.
“You must’ve been young when this whole thing started.” Gabby said, thoughtfully.
“I was eighteen.” Y/N shrugged, “Not as young as you were, I’m sure.”
“I was six.” Gabby confirmed, her voice small, her gaze finding its home on the toes of her boots.
Eren watched as Y/N’s eyes softened towards the young girl. It was obvious what she must have been thinking. That six was far too young for anyone to survive in this world. That there must be some unimaginable horrors that she must have seen for her to be alive today. A subject Eren knows all too much about since getting to know the girl. Though he found that all out by happenstance and context clues. He wasn’t the type of man to pry into someone else’s backstory. And it seemed that Y/N was the same way. Any question she might’ve had was kept to herself as she glanced over at Eren, their eyes meeting. An unspoken sense of understanding bouncing between their irises.
They were interrupted by the sound of Ellie’s claws clicking against the wooden floor.
“Finished eating?” Y/N said to her dog, reaching out her hand to pet her head as she expected Ellie to stop at her side. Strangely enough, the dog barely glanced her way, she just padded along, not stopping until she jumped on the couch, turned in a circle to find the most comfortable position and then slumped down with a huff next to Eren, who stiffened at the dog’s presence.
“Traitor.” Y/N scoffed, shaking her head. Though she seemed unsurprised when Ellie chose to sit by a stranger they just met rather than her.
“I think she likes you.” Gabby laughed.
“The feeling is not mutual.” Eren asserted, his voice low like he was being acquainted with his worst enemy. Both Y/N and Gabby laughed, not realizing he was serious. Or maybe they did and that’s what made it so funny.
“She’s always been like that.” Y/N told them, turning back to her forgotten peaches.
“Like what?”
“She finds the person who likes her the least in the room and then sticks to them like glue.” Y/N explained, “She was like that with my dad.”
“Your dad didn’t like her?”
Y/N’s lips turned up in a small smile. “Nah, he only pretended to hate her. Deep down I think he really loved her. He was secretly a big old softie. I think Ellie can sense stuff like that.”
“If you are insinuating that I’m a ‘softie’...”
“I don’t know, I think she might be onto something.” Gabby giggled.
“Don’t worry, I’m not insinuating anything.” Y/N said, lifting her hands up in reassurance, “Though the dog is never wrong…”
“Okay, I’m done with this.” Eren chided, standing up from his seat on the couch, Ellie’s head lifting up in curiosity as he did. “I’m going to check for potential points of entry. You two would be smart to find something useful to do.”
“Back to business.” Gabby grumbled, rolling her eyes as he crossed the floor. His heavy footfalls caused the cabin to creak and groan under his boots.
“I saw that.” Eren snapped before disappearing into one of the random doors that led to rooms unknown.
Y/N’s P.O.V
“Is he always like that?” Y/N asked, nodding her head to the door that Eren just left through. Gabby looked towards the direction in which she gestured, an indignant sigh escaping her lips.
“Pretty much.” Gabby responded, slumping in her seat, not at all taking Eren’s orders seriously.
“How can you deal with all that?” Y/N questioned, holding out the can of peaches towards the younger girl. Gabby looked at her apprehensively, as if she was unsure if she should take more of the woman's dinner.
“I’m full.” Y/N reassured, “You can finish them.”
“Well I wouldn’t want to waste any food.” Gabby rationalized, causing a chuckle to fall from Y/N’s lips as she eagerly grabbed the can from her. Wasting no time to tip the sweet fruit onto her tongue. Any decorum lost as she spoke through a full mouth, “And, don't get me wrong, there are some days where he annoys the hell out of me… but he’s a good guy.”
She swallowed at her food thickly. Y/N almost thought she was going to choke. But that wasn’t the case. Maybe it was just hard for the girl to admit. Which was proven to Y/N when Gabby’s demeanor shifted into something more serious.
“He’s kept me alive. Which is saying a lot since I annoy him most of the time too. I’m surprised he hasn’t ditched me.”
“You guys aren’t related?” Y/N asked, but she was pretty sure she already knew the answer.
“No.” She explained, and Y/N would have been fine if she stopped at that, she wouldn’t want to force the kid to talk about things that made her uncomfortable. But maybe something about the older woman had gotten Gabby to trust her, it took Y/N by surprise when she kept speaking.
“I was— I had… gotten separated from my group. I was alone for maybe a week or two when Eren found me in an abandoned warehouse. I didn’t have much food so I was practically dying of starvation, I couldn’t put up much of a fight. He could’ve killed me… or at least kept walking. But he decided to help.”
“You must not annoy him that much then.” Y/N offered. Gabby blew air out of her nose in silent laughter.
“Trust me I do.” Gabby said, “I make a point of it.”
Y/N laughed at that. “Good, it’ll keep him on his toes.”
A grin was shared between the two of them. A moment noticed where they had found a kindred soul. It was strange for Y/N. It had been a long time since she had made a friend. And she never would have expected that her first friend in years would be a teenage girl. But she could already tell that they would get along just fine. Maybe she could get along with Eren too, if this girl was his saving grace.
“It’s obvious that he cares about you a lot.” Y/N observed.
“Really?” Gabby asked, almost as if she didn’t believe it. Y/N wondered if she would even believe that he had a knife to her throat only a couple of hours before, in the name of her protection. She obviously wouldn’t disclose that information with the girl, knowing it might upset her. But Y/N couldn’t hold a grudge against Eren for his actions. She understood exactly what brought him to do it. Y/N nodded with a soft smile.
“Yeah.” Y/N replied, “I can tell he’s a good guy.”
“I was under the impression that you didn’t really like him.”
“I don’t.” Y/N admitted,  “But like I said— the dog is never wrong.”
Eren’s P.O.V.
He had walked into a bathroom. Though it seemed his exit had ended with a dignified resolution (or a dramatic flourish as Gabby would put it), he felt foolish as he stood there, barely anywhere to move in the small tiled-room. The closer the walls were the bigger his ego felt. And Eren hated it.
But since he didn’t want to admit defeat and go back into the living room, he decided that there might be something useful in here. So he pushed away any frustration he felt from the previous conversation and pressed on.
The metal of the faucet lever was cold on his fingers as he flicked it on. Nothing came out. Which wasn’t a surprise, clean, drinkable water hadn’t been easy to come by during these times. But Eren still had hope that one day, in one of these abandoned houses, his luck would change. Looked like it wasn’t today.
Next was the cabinet behind the mirror, picked through from the looks of it, the only thing that was left were some stray cotton swabs. An annoyed sigh fell from his lips as he let the cabinet door swing shut, the mirror rattling a bit as it fell back into place. His eyes met his own in the reflection.
It’s been a long time since he observed his own features. Vanity was one thing that had to be quickly forgotten if you wanted to survive. He never cared much for his looks, but damn, he has seen some better days. Now it made sense why Y/N thought he was so much older. He looked so tired and… angry. And the few stray gray hairs that were strewn throughout his hair did not help. Nor did the five o'clock shadow. He ran a hand over his mouth, feeling the rough skin under his palm.
Eren examined himself for only a second longer, before shaking his head and crouching down to see if there was anything under the sink. There wasn’t much there either, save for some gauze (which he pocketed) and a box way in the back, tucked behind the piping.
When he pulled the box free from its hiding spot he found it was a box of tampons. Heat rushed to his cheeks as he thought of the mortifying situation of having to hand this over to Gabby. But he knew these were a gold mine for her. And if he had to be traveling with a teenage girl he might as well make the ride easier for him. Maybe he could find a way to sneak it into her backpack. The box found its home next to the gauze in his pocket.
As Eren stood to take one more glance around the room, a loud bang sounded out from the other side of the door. In one swift moment his gun was back in his hands, the door slamming against the wall from how quickly he exited the bathroom. His heart was beating loudly in his chest. Please let the kid be alive.
He expected to find blood, a body, or any other horrifying thing his mind could come up with. What he saw instead, was a mattress in the middle of the room, the furniture spread out, and the two girls huffing from exertion. Ellie was still on the couch, her tail thumping against the leather in a form of contentment.
“That thing was heavier than I expected.” Y/N said, placing her hands on her hips. Gabby nodded in agreement before flopping down on the mattress, her limbs sprawled out across the plush surface.
“What are you doing?” Eren asked, placing his gun back in its holster.
“Sleeping arrangements.” Gabby answered, propping herself up to look at Eren, “It was Y/N’s idea. She said it would be like a ‘slumber party.’”
“I used to do this with my friends freshman year of college— Well the only year of college…” Y/N trailed off, and a glimpse of who this woman was before this hell broke out flashed before Eren's eyes. He shifted awkwardly on his feet.
“Anyways, you get the picture.” Y/N waved off, “It’ll be fun.”
“Fun isn’t something we can afford these days.” Eren countered, stepping further into the room.
“Don’t worry, there’s something in it for you too.” She replied, that teasing tone hinting through her words once more. “You can keep an eye on her and the traitorous murderer you think that I am all at the same time. If that isn’t what you consider fun, then I got you pegged all wrong.”
Eren’s jaw clenched and unclenched as he stared at her. She held her ground as he did, her smile not once faltering.
“Fine.” He said gruffly, after a minute of chewing it over. Y/N’s smile shifted into a grin at his response, Gabby exhaled an excited ‘yes!’ from the bed.
“Then it’s settled.” She grinned, “I’ll get the rest of the blankets.”
“You do that.” Eren breathed, as he moved to find his spot back on the couch. He rubbed at his eyes, already exhausted from this woman’s added energy.
“Psst.” He heard from the floor. He moved his hand to look at Gabby. Though she must’ve thought her first attempt at garnering his attention fell flat, as a throw pillow came flying at his face. It bounced off his forearm, which he lifted in defense just in time.
“What?” He hissed.
“I like her.” She whispered. Eren paused, taking in the hopeful features of the teenager in front of him.
“Don’t get attached.” He said simply.
“Why not?” Gabby argued, still in her hushed tone. “She could make us stronger. Help us out, you know?”
Eren considered this. It was true, this woman seemed to know what she was doing when it came to surviving. And there was strength in numbers. But she would be another mouth to feed. Another person to keep alive. Plus her stupid dog.
“We’ll talk about it in the morning.” Eren decided, not wanting to go back and forth on the pros and cons list. “Get some sleep, kid.”
“Ugh, fine.” Gabby groaned, flopping back down on the mattress.
Their conversation had ended just in time as Y/N returned to the room, her arms stuffed with more pillows and blankets.
“I haven't slept in a real bed like this in months.” She told them as she dumped the blankets onto Gabby.
“I don’t think I ever slept in a bed like this.” Gabby responded, sitting up from under the pile, pillows falling pathetically onto the floor. “This thing is huge.”
“It’s a king. These people were probably rich.” Y/N agreed, lifting up one of the blankets, and kicking the rest of them onto the floor. Gabby took her cue and got up and watched as Y/N started making the bed. She flicked the edge of a sheet so it floated above their heads before fitting nicely over the mattress. As she did the same with the rest of the blankets, Gabby would help to make sure each one was spread evenly.
“What about you?” Y/N asked as they did so.
“What about me?” Eren replied, assuming she was talking to him by the way she nodded at him when she asked.
“When was the last time you slept in a bed like this?”
Eren looked down at the now nicely made bed, Gabby placing down the pillows at the top, everything looking so much more expensive than anything he had owned in his previous life.
“Never.” He answered honestly.
“Then you should try it out.” Y/N responded, her words seemingly genuine, “I’ll sleep on the couch.”
“Not a chance.” Eren scoffed. “I’ll keep watch.”
“You’re going to stay up all night?”
The look he gave her must have answered Y/N’s question. Her lips pursed in a thin line, almost like she was unhappy. But she didn’t argue with him, which came as a surprise. He was bizarrely grateful. It had been a long day and he didn’t have the energy. It seemed that she didn’t either.
“Is it alright if I share this with you?” She then asked Gabby. Eren opened his mouth to protest, still untrusting of this woman, but like always he was late to the punch.
“Of course.” Gabby answered, way more trusting than Eren ever would be. “This thing is huge, I’d feel bad if you’d have to sleep on the floor.”
“Thank you.” Y/N smiled at her, grabbing a pillow and placing it at the other end of the bed, apparently still considering the space that should be kept between strangers.
Those were the last words that were spoken for the night. Soon shoes were tugged off, heads were on pillows and the sounds of soft, steady breathing filtered into the room. Slowly but surely.
Eren’s eyes stayed wide open, his gaze fixed on the dying embers of the fire.
~
Eren was running. Razor sharp branches reached out from either side of him, cutting up the skin of his arms and legs. He heard the moans and groans grow louder and louder behind his back, knowing they were gaining on him. His heart was pounding in his ears, his legs were killing him. Somewhere through the growling and his panicked breathing he heard a voice, someone calling to him. Hope sparked deep in his stomach and he knew that if he could only get to where that voice was coming from, only then would he be safe. He reached a hand out. His foot caught on a root. He was falling to the ground and then—
He was awake. He startled up straight in his seat, a quilt slipping off of his chest as he did. His eyebrows knitted together in confusion at the fabric that was crumpled across his legs.
“Are you okay?”
It was Y/N. His eyes found her at the other end of the couch, her features illuminated by the moonlight streaming in through the windows, the fire now completely out. Her fingers smoothing over Ellie’s head which was resting in her lap. He put two and two together, realizing that she must have been the culprit behind the blanket. Huh.
Eren looked around the room, trying to catch his bearings. Snores emanated from the curled up figure on the bed he knew to be Gabby. Everything else was quiet. There was nothing coming.
“How long was I out?” He asked, ignoring her first question.
“I’m not sure.” Y/N shrugged, “You were asleep when I woke up. Decided to take over the watch since you were… preoccupied.”
“Did anything happen?”
“Nothing of note.” She responded. Eren let out a deep sigh, his body visibly relaxing into the couch. He let his head fall back against the edge of the furniture, adam’s apple bobbing in his throat as he swallowed at nothing.
“Bad dream?”  Y/N inquired, shifting in her seat to face him. Ellie huffed, obviously annoyed at having to remove herself from her previous comfortable position. She curled up closer to Eren. Y/N didn’t seem to mind. And strangely neither did he.
He stole a look at her sideways. “Is it that obvious?”
“I doubt anyone’s having any good dreams these days.” She replied. He nodded in agreement.
“What was it about?”
Silence fell over the cabin once more as Eren contemplated her question. He was never really the type to indulge in these types of conversations, but she was here and she was asking, so why wouldn’t he? If only for tonight.
“The usual.” Eren sighed, “Running away from those horrible things… Not making it in time.”
It was Y/N’s turn to nod, only this time in understanding. “Yeah, that’s what woke me up too.”
“What was yours about?”
The subtle surprise that flitted across the girl's face matched how Eren felt when the words tumbled out of his lips. He wasn’t even sure if he really cared for the answer. But as he waited for her response it sort of felt like he did. Maybe it was something about what she had said earlier. He wanted to get to know her.
“It’s the same every night.” She said, her voice turning into a soft hush, “I lose her every single time.”
Eren watched as Y/N’s hand dropped onto her dog, her fingers intertwining through the black fur.
He knew those kinds of dreams all too well. If he doesn’t wake up before the initial fall, that’s when he realizes he’s all alone, surrounded by those monsters. He had failed. The one thing he promised her. He didn’t protect her.
His eyes rose up from her hand, meeting her irises. It was dark, so he couldn’t be sure, but he swore that her eyes were shining with unshed tears, reflected by the small bit of moonlight. The beating heart in his chest stirred in a way that made him slightly uncomfortable. He never knew how to deal with other people's emotions. Though the one thing he did know, was that behind those tears was genuine fear. Fear of loss. Fear of being left alone in this world. Fear of failure. It was the exact same feeling that hid behind his own teal eyes. It was what he saw in the mirror in that tiny bathroom. An epiphany hit him in the dark of the night.
He drew in a breath.
“We’ll go with you.”

JULY
The air had grown thinner in the past month. Everyone could feel the warmth of the season wearing them down to the point where all they sought to do is kick back and enjoy a cold drink.
Despite the low number of raids and sightings of infected, the patrol group remained alert. You didn’t mind, really; starting the night shift when the sun was going down, after having spent most of the day in the sun, it offered you a sensation you hadn’t felt since your childhood back in California. If anything, it made you nostalgic. Even with everything that was going on.
Since news broke out that Tommy singlehandedly took care of a group of raiders in June, the people in Jackson have become more vigilant of their whereabouts and surroundings, but there was also a bizarre concoction of fear and admiration targeted at the man who built an entire town from scratch. Tommy was just as loved as before—people just knew now to never get on his bad side.
The other Miller brother though, that one was the thorn in your back.
Things have gotten more… quiet between the two of you. Which was preferable to the rest of the patrol who were growing tired having to listen to you bicker all the time. But, since that June night when the two of you nearly committed what could’ve only be described as a fatal mistake, Joel simply distanced himself from you. And you followed his lead; you did the exact same thing. It was much better this way. You both relished into the stillness of the environment, neither one of you being on the talkative side, and you only spoke when absolutely necessary.
The interesting thing about that? It grew to be bothersome. It was actually kind of upsetting that all you and Joel did was gaze at each other from afar, eyes darkened by unspoken things that you would’ve rather buried than to ever allow to come to the surface.
And that made you even grumpier and angrier. You failed to understand this kind of reaction to someone who repeatedly called you stubborn and relentless, and it was causing you to lose sleep too, to dwell into the littlest things and put them for observation under a microscope.
You knew why this was happening, of course. It was a no-brainer. But it’s not like it was your fault. Not even his, really. It was a silly little moment of distraction, nothing else. So what if you were caught in the rain and his calloused hands were over your waist, keeping you close, and you were unable to look away from his lips?
It was nothing but a momentary privation of judgment, a mere result of years of solitude and finally coming in contact with human warmth.
But, rather than stewing in your confusion, you chose to mind your business and go about your days as usual. Aside the occasional run-in with the infected, your life in Jackson has been pretty boring throughout the past seven months, as opposed to the unstable and chaotic life you’ve led in the past seven years. You can’t really complain though; it’s been a nice change of pace. It makes you think of your family, how they would’ve fit right in here.
Today, however, upon Annie’s request, you agreed to train some of the kids in town how to handle weapons. It wasn’t the easiest task if you really thought about it. You found it to be a grim scenario, teaching children how to use guns. But the world you’re living in is cruel and unforgiving, and there are worse punishments than death. In retrospect, learning how to defend yourself from a frail age might be a preferable choice than the alternatives.
A bullet flies right by your head, and you duck instantly. You search the fairly small crowd of children to find the culprit, and your eyes land on a brown haired, doe-eyed teenager. You make a face when you remark the guilt on her face.
“Sorry,” she apologizes.
You inch towards her. “Ellie, right?”
“The one and only. I think.”
“So you’re the infamous Ellie.”
She looks you up and down, eyes landing on the holster strapped to your right thigh, then moving back up to your figure.
“Saw you around with Joel,” you explain, unwilling to be misunderstood. You knew that sometimes people found your dry-spoken words to be intimidating, and you didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable. Trust was very important, and a must-have in any situation. “He seems fond of you. Which makes me think he’s part human.”
Ellie smiles, and so do you. “Jury’s still out on that one.”
“Ah.”
Her eyes drop to your holster again. “Can you teach me how to use that?”
You follow her eyes to the same spot, noticing she’s referring to the special knife you keep in the holster. You then raise your brows at her.
“What for?” you ask rather amused.
Ellie shrugs. “What if I need it?”
“You mean my one-of-a-kind knife that only I possess? Highly doubt it.”
“You said it yourself, it’s not a regular knife. I mean—look at that thing! It’s got that curve thing right there… it’s a nice blade!”
You suppress a chuckle, staring in admiration at her. She’s got spunk, alright. She’s excited and funny and warm, in spite of everything that the world may have thrown at her. You suppose that’s the magic of being a kid. You can still find the light in the darkest of places.
“Not many kids are interested in weapons, you know?” you tell her as you pull her aside. “Take a look around. They don’t wanna do this. But it’s a necessary evil. You, on the other hand… you’re a pretty special kid.”
“So I’ve been told.”
There’s playfulness and sarcasm in her voice, and it makes you like her more. You can definitely see why Joel took a shining to her as well.
Now, you don’t know the full story. You only know the bits and pieces Tommy deemed acceptable to confess to you. All you heard is that Ellie was wanted by the Fireflies and that Joel was supposed to deliver her to them, but changed his mind and saved her from them, killing an entire group of people who stood in his way. There were some pieces of that puzzle you could put together without anyone telling you anything explicitly, but you kept to yourself. You sure as hell wasn’t gonna ask Joel about what happened.
“So? What do we think?” Ellie asks. “Do we have a deal?”
You frown, half amused and half impressed with her boldness.
“It’s not up to me, you know.”
“Sure it is. It’s your knife, isn’t it?”
You huff, staring at her and hoping that she’ll get the message without you actually saying it. Luckily, she does; within the next second, she makes a face to reveal her disappointment.
“Do not say it’s up to Joel,” she nearly whines. “He’s just gonna say no.”
“Okay. Then I can say no.”
“Oh, come on! We’re at a how to use a gun camp filled with kids and you’re gonna deny a kid a little weapon?”
“You still gotta work on your aim with the regular gun. You nearly shot me in the head.”
“Holding a grudge, I see.”
You smile. Unbeknownst to you, Joel is somewhere in the background, your silhouette in close proximity to Ellie’s having caught his attention. He watches carefully, a dozen scenarios invading his mind at that very moment.
“It’s not a grudge,” you reassure her. “I just think that if you can’t handle something as simple as a gun, you won’t be able to handle this knife.”
“A knife is easier than a gun.”
“You think so?”
Ellie nods, and you pull out the knife, twisting it between your fingers. Her eyes go wide with admiration, thirsting for knowledge. Then, as you hand the blade to her, she looks at you utterly stunned.
“Go ahead,” you tell her. “Stab me.”
“Uh… what?”
“You said it’s easier than a gun. Show your work. Try and stab me.”
“I’m not gonna—“
“Try to.”
Indecisive, Ellie holds the knife, weighing it. Then, she moves towards you, swinging the blade as you instructed. You duck, and as she pulls away, she notices a little string of blood coming from her hand.
“Shit,” Ellie says under her breath, noticing her bleeding palm.
You take the knife back from her and sliding it into the holster.
“It’s not a regular knife,” you say. “You were right. Which means that if you don’t know how to hold it properly, you’ll most likely kill yourself before you kill someone else.”
Joel moves closer in the background, reckoning something was wrong. He sees Ellie slouched, staring into her palm, and his pulse starts to race.
“If you’d teach me—“
“You already tried to shoot me today, so I’m gonna stick with no. And as much as you might hate hearing it—or as much as I hate saying it—Joel is technically your guardian. If he says it’s okay, I’ll teach you.”
“So that’s not gonna happen.”
You shrug. “Looks like we’re both stuck on Joel.”
“We?”
Taken aback by your own words, you clear your throat as your eyes drop to her hand, still bleeding in the slightest. You take it in your hands, examining it, but she shyly pulls away, dragging the sleeve of her shirt over it.
“It’s just a cut, it’s not that bad,” you try to reassure her.
But Ellie looks even more hesitant as she gulps, staring into the ground.
“Why are you wearing long sleeve shirts in the middle of summer?” you ask. “Aren’t you warm?”
“I’m good.”
Her tone, like her face, drops, and it only raises more questions for you. Questions you don’t pose. Instead, you put a hand on her back to guide her through the crowd and head to the little stand you and Annie set up for this exact purpose, filled with medicine and bandages. You wrap her palm nice and tight and in the process, her eyes catch the tattoo on your right wrist. She opens her mouth to say something, to ask you questions, but when she glances over your shoulder and sees Joel fast approaching, she goes silent.
“Are you okay?” Joel asks Ellie, and she nods. “What happened?”
“Nothing,” Ellie says. “A little scratch.”
His dark glare goes to you, and you can tell he’s angry.
“Why don’t you go back to the group?” you suggest to Ellie.
“You don’t have to tell me twice.”
The tension between you and Joel must’ve been more obvious than you thought.
“What happened?” Joel asks you instead.
“She wanted to try out my knife, I said no. She insisted she can handle it, and I proved to her she can’t.”
“By cuttin’ her?”
“I didn’t cut her. She scratched herself with the tip. I told her this kind of blade can be dangerous if not held properly.”
“Wrong time to do a show and tell.”
You huff, visibly displeased. “What’s up with Ellie, though? Why is she still wearing long sleeve shirts?”
The question stuns Joel. It’s written all over his face; you swear you detect some fear in his eyes too, but dwelling into that wouldn’t bring you anything good. Maybe just another headache and sleepless night.
“I’m not her father,” Joel retorts coldly. “She can wear whatever she wants.”
“I’m just saying. It’s the middle of summer, it’s hot as all hell. You’d think—“
“I don’t know, okay? What’s with the interrogation?”
You frown at him, raising your hands in surrender. “Pardon me for taking an interest.”
“Others have taken an interest in her before. Didn’t turn out so well.”
“The Fireflies?”
Joel’s face hardens with anger as he moves closer to you. You can even hear his teeth clenched in fury. You haven’t seen him this mad thus far.
“What the hell do you know about that?” he growls.
“I know that the Fireflies are just an excuse for doing fucked up shit of their own,” you reply, hands crossed at your chest. “They’re not so different from FEDRA if you think about it. So I’m guessing that whatever happened that made Ellie wanted by the Fireflies, it had to be a huge deal.”
Joel keeps quiet, munching on his bottom lip as he stares you down. You’re a stranger, basically, and the history between him and Ellie is known only by the two of them, Tommy and Maria. And there’s no way that Tommy would reveal everything to a stranger, even if he valued your skills and even thought of you as Maria’s right hand.
“I don’t want to know what happened,” you tell him. “And I don’t care about it. I was just expressing interest in Ellie. She’s a great kid.”
“She is,” Joel admits rather grudgingly.
“You got nothing to worry about. You and I, we’re just on patrol together. If you wanna ignore me because you got scared or whatever, that’s fine by me, I don’t care.”
Joel’s stares you down with a vicious twinkle in his eyes, as if he’s suggesting you to stop talking before you regret it. But you don’t care; you said the truth and if the truth is bothering him, there’s some food for thought.
“I’m not scared, and least of all of you,” he emphasizes viciously.
You inhale, rolling your eyes. The gesture brings out to the surface even more anger, anger that Joel can barely contain.
“Whatever you say.”
You turn your back to him, to which Joel responds with his fingers curling around your wrist and holding you in place. The touch is unexpected, electric, and the grip itself is far from harsh. On the contrary: it holds a gentleness to it that you wouldn’t have thought such a rugged man is capable of.
“If you’re talkin’ about that night on patrol last month—“he starts, but you instantly cut him off.
“I’m not talking about that. I was just pointing out the facts. You’re the one who brought it up.”
“How the hell are you so—? Jesus fuckin’ Christ.”
He lets go of you, rubbing his temples as he impending sensation of a headache takes over. He looks at you, shaking his head in dismay. When he sees a smirk forming in the corner of your mouth, he furiously licks his lips.
“How the hell am I so—what?” you ask, downright curious.
“Quit askin’ about Ellie,” he warns instead.
After Joel storms off, you smile in Ellie’s direction. You notice she doesn’t even roll up her sleeves, and your suspicion lives on. You don’t go around asking anything, though. It’s dangerous to talk about such things out loud, especially when this is merely a hunch at the moment. A very strong hunch based on plenty you’ve seen, but a hunch nonetheless.
You respect Joel’s words though, which again, it baffles you. Normally you wouldn’t care, but minding your business is top priority right now.
Which is why you’re surprised when you find Ellie on your doorstep later that evening. She has the same spark in her eyes as she did when she asked about your knife, which points to curiosity.
“Ellie,” you greet her, doing nothing to conceal your astonishment. “What are you doing here?”
“Well… I was gonna ask you something, if you don’t mind.”
“If it’s female-related, I understand why you wouldn’t ask Joel.”
Ellie chuckles, rubbing the back of her neck. “I don’t know why everyone thinks I tell Joel everything, or that we got some sort of father-daughter relationship.”
You scoff, hiding the laughter that’s about to come out of your mouth.
“You’re kidding,” you tell her. “That man was ready to shoot me today when he thought I hurt you. I’ve never seen a man so protective over anyone. He cares about you. A lot, based on his reaction.”
“I care about him too, he’s a pretty cool and badass guy, but he’s not my dad.”
“Sure he isn’t. Come on in.”
As Ellie enters your little house, she takes a quick look around, fidgeting with her fingers. You find the habit quite adorable, seeing as how Joel struggled with that too sometimes when he thought no one saw him.
Fuck. Did you just use adorable and Joel in the same sentence?
Fuck no.
“So, what are you doing here? What can I do for you?” you ask.
“I saw your wrist tattoo today. It’s pretty cool.”
You sneak a glance at your left wrist, then you look back at Ellie.
“Thanks,” you say. “You came all the way here to compliment my tattoo?”
“I came here to ask… if you’ve got any other tattoos.”
“Why?”
“I’m… thinking of getting one.”
Let me guess: on your right wrist.
“Where?” you ask instead.
“Not sure yet.”
You notice the hesitation on her part, but you have enough common decency to pretend like you don’t.
“Okay, well,” you start, taking a seat on the couch with Ellie following suit, “I got five tattoos in total. The one on my left wrist, then one on my right thigh, one on my left ankle, one behind my left ear, and one on my lower back.”
“Can I see them?”
You raise your brows at her, and Ellie’s face gets flushed.
“I didn’t mean that to be in a creepy way,” she quips, rather embarrassed. “I know some are private. I meant… for visualization.”
You smile reassuringly at her, and she seems to relax a little.
“Yeah, we’re not that close,” you joke, and that manages to steal a giggle from her side.
“Which one is the biggest?”
“My lower back tattoo.”
“What’s it of?”
“A snake with a half moon.”
“Whoa. Cool!”
The look on her face is quite adorable. You can tell that no matter what life threw at her, Ellie still carried some of that childlike innocence.
“What about the others, what are they of?” Ellie asks.
“I got a flower with leaves on my ankle, butterfly on my thigh, M for my sister Maya behind the ear and the rose on my wrist, which… you’ve already seen.”
You search her face for any reaction, anything that might tell you what she really noticed about your tattoo, but nothing appears. After all, she only caught a glimpse, a fleeting look. She didn’t have time to study the real reason behind the tattoo.
“You said the M is for your sister?” she inquires, and you already got a knot in your throat when you murmur a faint “mhm”. “Where is she?”
“Uh… filed under ‘people I’ve lost’.”
“Oh. I’m sorry.”
You clear your throat. “What about you, what tattoo do you want after all?”
“I don’t know. Something big enough to cover… scars.”
“Where?”
She falters yet again. “Right arm. I can’t—I can’t show you.”
“That’s okay. I wasn’t gonna ask you to. But I do hope this is helpful.”
“It is, thanks.”
“Why me though?”
She shrugs. “I think you’re pretty badass and I like you.”
To that, you smile. “You’re pretty badass yourself.”
“Does that mean I get another go at the knife?”
You shake your head and reply No before she can even fully finish the sentence.
“What happened to your sister?” Ellie asks.
The air feels constricting as you stare at her, trying to verbalize the answer. Turns out, seven years in the making and the wound still remains fresh.
“That’s a… that’s a story for another time,” you say with a bitter smile.
Ellie knows better than to push when the conversation is clearly sensitive. After all, there are things about Riley that she can’t quite fully disclose, even though, paradoxically, she loved to talk about her.
She rises from the couch, headed for the door when she turns to you and sports a charming smile.
“Thanks,” she tells you, and you nod. “I don’t know why Joel keeps insisting you’re annoying.”
You do nothing to conceal your surprise at the reveal. “Aw, he talks about me? How nice.”
“He complains a little too much to make his case believable.”
“Yeah, well. Tell him I think he’s just as stubborn and thick-headed.”
“Tell him yourself.”
Your eyes shift to the window, noticing his silhouette on the porch. He’s got his hands on his hips, and his face is darkened by anger. You shake your head and huff whilst guiding Ellie to the door.
“Speak of the big, bad wolf,” you greet him.
“Ellie, get outta here,” Joel tells her.
“I was going anyway. Sheesh, such a drama queen, relax.”
Joel waits until Ellie is out of earshot. You both watch her get farther and farther away till eventually, it’s just you and him on the porch, underneath the stars-filled sky.
“May I help you?” you ask.
Joel is like a ticking bomb. And with those words, you just pushed the button.
“What the hell do you want from Ellie?”
“She’s the one who came to me.”
“For what? What do you want with her?”
You’re taken aback by how spurred on Joel is, how protective he’s become of that sixteen year old girl and the lengths he’ll go to in order to keep her safe. It doesn’t intimidate you though; if anything, it makes your hunch turn into something more.
“She came over to ask me about my tattoos,” you carefully enunciate each word. “That’s all we talked about. She was here for ten minutes. I didn’t snap her neck.”
Joel makes a dissatisfied sound. “I told you today to stop askin’ about her.”
“And I didn’t. Get it through your thick head: I have no interest in hurting her. I have no intention of hurting anyone here.”
Jaw clenched and lips pursed, Joel looks at you, some of his anger vanishing.
“She’s just a kid,” he says, guttural. “She’s been through enough.”
“I am well aware of that.”
“She doesn’t need other problems.”
You cross your arms at your chest. “You think I’m a problem?”
“I don’t know. Are you?”
You inhale slowly, painfully aware of how close you are to one another. The thick, dry summer air is boiling in between you, rendering this moment even more asphyxiating.
“What are you so terrified of?” you ask him.
You can tell the question stumps Joel. He frowns, his lips quiver, and he looks at you with genuine confusion.
“What?” he retorts harshly.
“What makes you freeze dead in your tracks when there’s someone else around you?”
Joel’s frown deepens as he tries to determine whether you’re being serious or not.
“In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve been in this fuckin’ outbreak for twenty something years.”
“The infected don’t scare you, not anymore,” you continue seemingly mindlessly. “I know, cause that’s me. I see ‘em, I’m ready to shoot them down. Most of the time, anyway.”
You open your mouth as realization sinks in, watching a distressed Joel Miller drink in the sight of you.
“It’s human contact that terrifies you,” you conclude. “You can’t stand having people around you. You’re surprised when they stay.”
“I’m surprised when they don’t wanna kill me.”
“Lemme guess. Sad and tragic past, now you refuse to let anyone in because you’re afraid of the hurt and you can’t do it again. You tell yourself you can’t keep losing people you care about.”
“Just—stop.”
His voice is husky and harsh, filled with painful undertones that make you wonder of the tragedies in his past. You wonder what pieces of him are so far gone that he refuses to let anyone in.
That, in return, is scary to you.
“What’s the fuckin’ point, anyway?” Joel asks as if he’s having an internal monologue. “Some are lucky enough to live another day, others could die tonight. Living is a luxury. And getting’ attached… it’s got no upside to it. We’re gonna lose in the end no matter what.”
“I understand that,” you reply, much to his surprise. “Clickers, infected… those are easy. They have but one purpose: to kill. Humans, on the other hand… they’re tricky. You may never know what’s inside their heads. That’s the terrifying part.”
“You got your degree in psychology or somethin’?”
You stifle a chuckle, resorting to a mere smile. “Or something. What I can’t quite put together though is why you’re afraid of me.”
Joel cocks an eyebrow in your direction, growing more alert and aware of the fact that he is so close to you he could count your eyelashes. He swallows harshly, nearly breathless.
“Afraid of you?” he fights back. “I could pin you to the ground in one second. You ain’t a threat.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that. You avoid me, you refuse to talk to me directly, but I hear you do talk about me with Ellie, quite a lot… so what gives?”
Joel does not avert his eyes from yours. On the contrary, he stares you down, fighting a losing battle with his own mind. There’s something about your words, so tantalizing and filled with shameless subtexts that cause his head to spin and his breath to come out ragged.
“Pin me down then,” you instigate him. “Pin me against the wall for all I care. You’re not doing it, and you are not going to. Because you’re afraid that you don’t actually find me annoying at all.”
The twitching in Joel’s fingers worsens, his heart racing and his throat completely dry, as opposed to his mouth which is damn near watering.
“Keep talkin’, see what happens,” he mutters.
“I think nothing’s gonna happen. Wanna know why? You talk a big game, but you’re just—“
The warm, intoxicating sensation over your mouth doesn’t register at first; it takes several seconds before you realize that this is, in fact, Joel Miller who’s kissing you.
His lips are tender against yours, but his hands provide a harsh contrast with that as they grab your hips and hold onto them for dear life. His moustache is tickling against your upper lip, his tongue glides against yours and you sigh; you actually sigh right into his mouth, the sound reverberating throughout Joel’s entire body and making him feral. You cup his face, desperately holding onto him, onto anything that might provide some stability because this… this is something wild and needy, and it utterly consumes you.
Joel is practically holding you into his arms as he’s kissing you like a starved man. There’s an omnipresent throbbing in your body, but especially in your belly, and you squirm against him, starting to crave more.
But then, Joel pulls away from you as abruptly as he began this whole shenanigan. Breathless, he stares at you with a hunger you wouldn’t believe if he weren’t right there in front of you.
Lips swollen and reddened, you fight to regulate your breaths. “Did you just—?”
“No.” His answer is rough, quick to deny everything.
“But I—“
“It’s nothing,” he says, licking his lips. “Don’t make a big deal out of this.”
You remain speechless. Truthfully, you’re not sure what could you possibly say right now. You messed around and teased him and now here you are, lips swollen from a kiss that Joel Miller gave you. A wet, needy kiss that opened a floodgate of desires for you.
He mumbles something to you before he leaves. What, you don’t fully comprehend. You’re all alone on the porch on that hot July evening, trying to process the fact that you shared the hungriest, most passionate kiss of your life with someone who did everything to keep you at bay.
Maybe this is why.
And maybe his overprotectiveness over Ellie isn’t that far-fetched either.
After all, protecting a girl who’s immune to a fate worse than death is a big deal.

Pairing: Bucky X Reader
Summary: Reader and Bucky often dream about each other. Which isn't weird until you realize that they're strangers in two different states who have never met.
Word Count: 3,305
Warnings: 18+, a little bit of smut
Taglist: @jbbarnes-dog-tags
The recurring dreams began about six months ago. At first it just seemed like any normal dream. Walking around your hometown, grocery shopping, being back in high school. But the same pattern wasn’t a place or theme. It was a person, but someone you know you’ve never met or seen online or in other media forms. But anytime you interacted with them you felt drawn to them like you knew them. At first the same man was another customer in a grocery store or someone you asked the time for. But now wherever you go when you dream or what you do, he is there.
You often wake up not remembering your entire dream the night before. But you do know it had to be with him regardless of adventure or mundane task that you went on. You figured out that lucid dreaming is what you’ve been experiencing. At least based on the few Google and Reddit searches you’ve done. It led you through a rabbit hole filled with academic papers, blogs, and of course Reddit users' opinions. Which actually made you feel a lot less alone and crazy. Lately you’ve been questioning yourself if the dreams you have been having are just dreams or if there’s more to them. There’s a small part of you that wonders if they are just dreams then why is it the same person showing up over and over again. But if it isn’t just a dream and something more, is the dream being shared as well?
Friday Night’s Dream
You’ve never visited New York before but here it is. The subway entrance nearby welcomes regular crowds, billboards galore light up with ads, and tourists walk amongst themselves. As you stand there watching the world move around you, you hear a familiar voice.
“Hey! Come on, I want to show you a place nearby.” There he is standing in front of you now. A smile lays on his face as he holds out his arm to grab.
“Lead the way.” You say grabbing his arm. His denim jacket feels warm against your thin top. His presence as always makes you feel warm.
You and him walk through a set of doors that immediately send you down a flight of stairs before coming to an entrance. A bright sign that outlines ‘JAZZ CLUB’ catches your attention. The place is dimly lit with soothing music playing. Patrons are spread out through the place talking to each other, dancing, or smoking cigars. It feels like a time capsule that few people know exists.
You’re led to a table near a wall secluded from most others. A small lamp is attached on the wall by the tables for light to brighten up the dark atmosphere. He gets to your chair before you do, allowing you to sit down. You say a small thank you as he sits across from you.
“I see you put your best outfit on.” He says teasingly pointing out that you’re wearing pajamas compared to his attire.
“Well excuse me, if I would’ve known you were taking me here tonight I would’ve worn my going out pajamas to bed.” He laughs at your comeback, making your heart swell. His laugh is something you always remember even if you have no recollection of your conversation.
“You smoke?” He takes a puff out of his cigar that just appeared, letting little rings fill the air.
“Cigars, no. I’ve never taken an interest.” He hands you the cigar, lighting the end again to get a better burn.
“Don’t inhale, just suck in.” You do as he says, sucking in then removing the cigar as you blow the smoke out.
“It’s sweet. What is that?” The taste is decadent on your buds. Almost like a dessert.
He takes the cigar back to taste it again,“It’s like chocolate? Maybe even espresso,” he continues smoking before asking if you enjoyed it.
“Maybe but I probably won't do it again. Not my thing. Though it is by far better than cigarettes.”He hums in understanding as he discards the ashes of the cigar into a tray.
You’re aware. You’re aware of the building you’re in. The dark lights and little lamps around you. The smoke that travels through out the space. You know you don’t have much time left before you are about to wake up.
“You’re in a dream.” You tell him quickly, wanting to ask him a question.
“I know, you are too.” He says it like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
“What’s your name?” You’re rushing now feeling yourself half asleep half awake not wanting to forget his reply.
“James, don’t forget it.” How could you?
Saturday Morning
His voice is still in your head when you wake up.
James. James. You repeat his name a few times letting it settle on your tongue. You’re almost tempted to google his name and the city you were in but lord knows how many James that live in New York there are. (You did in fact look up how many there were and it was well over 20,000 people). You know you’re not crazy. But you wish you had some form of confirmation that it wasn’t just you observing, dreaming, a part of it. This is an experience you’re having with someone. An experience you’re sharing with James.
“I’ll have the french toast please with syrup on the side thank you.” You hand the waitress your menu as she writes  your order down before leaving the table.
“Any new dreams or the same old same guy?” Wanda asks next you as she sips on her mimosa.
“No new dreams but I did get some information. I was finally able to ask a question.” You feel proud of yourself. You know your friends don’t not believe you. But you can even see that you may just be stressed or reading too much fiction.
Natasha’s perked  up at this answer, both girls have been following this ‘saga’ since the beginning.
“We were in New York and I was wearing pajamas. Don’t know why, but anyway he took me to an underground jazz club. It was really neat and vintage. You know how when you’re dreaming you kinda know when you’re about to wake up? Or like that half asleep half awake?”
“Yes! I hate that, it’s always during the good part of a dream too. And you can never go back to the dream again.” Wanda chimes in with her own experience.
Natasha nods at you encouraging you to continue.
“Exactly! Well usually I wake up before I can’t even ask anything but I was able to ask for his name. His name is James.” You’re so excited to share the information you’re beaming.
Natasha and Wanda exchange a look.
“James. Just James? No address or instagram handle? Not even a last name?” Natasha smirks at you poking fun.
You know she means well. She isn’t trying to downplay or hurt your feelings. But she is a realist after all. It’s why you love her. She’s honest and upfront.
“Look I didn’t have much time, okay? I got nervous.” You pout and sink into your chair chewing on your lip.
“It’s okay Y/N, you have his name at least. Maybe now you can figure out more about him.” Wanda’s words of support make you feel a little better.
Hopefully the french toast can help bury your feelings.
‘Okay, two melatonins, Or should I do one? I’m a grown adult. I'll do two. It is the weekend after all. If I knock out till the afternoon then who cares.’ You chew both gummies before washing it down with some sleepy bear tea. You can’t recall the name of the brand but it’s the one with the bear sleeping in the chair. Fingers crossed you’ll end up like him soon.
Saturday Night’s Dream
Your body is relaxed, you feel so lightweight that you feel like you're sinking into the bed. You can still hear the faint hum of the air conditioner and the sounds of cars passing by. You know you’re seconds away from a deep sleep. Until you’re not. Your body is frozen, paralyzed. Sleep paralysis is occurring.
You curse yourself in your mind telling yourself that you should’ve never taken two melatonins. Now. you’re stuck for who knows how long. Your eyes stare ahead. You’re watching the shadows of the car lights pass through the blinds. Projecting slightly onto the wall in front of you. Your dresser sits beside the door. You make a mental note to clean it off soon. There’s way too many things cluttering that piece of furniture. An unfamiliar sound catches your attention quickly, your bedroom door knob is rattling like someone is trying to get in. Now, you’re no stranger to hallucinations during sleep paralysis but hardly ever when on your stomach. But you’re on your back this time. You brace yourself as the door begins to open, trying to scream but only a whimper comes out. Mouth forced shut, heart beating a million miles.
The hallway light is off when the door creaks open a little. You can’t see the figure but you can feel it. You shut your eyes scared to see anything even if it’s nothing. You begin reciting every prayer you know. Praying you can somehow move your body to get you out of this.
“We don’t usually meet like this.” James' voice breaks the silence.
Your eyes shot open, finding him in the doorway with that stupid looking grin he always wears.
Before you know it you’re speaking with ease, “you scared me half to death. How’d you even find me?” Your body relaxes, supporting you to gain control of it.
“I don’t know actually. I thought of you and I was then standing in front of a door.” He walks in, looking around the room.
“Sorry, I just got scared. Sometimes I see scary stuff when I get sleep paralysis,” You’re sitting up in the bed now. Hoping you look someone decent. It feels personal now that he’s in your space when all you know is his name.
“Oh no, I get that. Sleep paralysis is no joke. Especially when you start making up scary stuff.” At least he understands. You aren’t the only scaredy cat.
He motions to sit on the bed which you nod yes in confirmation. He’s sitting on the edge of the bed which makes you feel compelled to get closer. You sit in front of him, knees tucked to the side. Wanting to be in his embrace. Wanting to be as close as possible to him.
“You know my name, It’s only fair I know yours, Don’t you think?” His question makes you stop for a second. This is a confirmation that it isn’t one sided. It isn’t crazy- you aren’t crazy.
“Wait, you remember yesterday’s dream the on-” You’re cut off as he finishes your question.
“At the jazz club, yes.” His answer continues, “I wanted to ask what your name was but you left too soon. I wanted a pretty name to match the pretty face.” His pickup line makes your face breakout into a smile.
“My name is Y/N. Y/N Y/L/N.” You hold out your hand for formalities, half joking half not.
“It’s nice to meet you Y/N. I’m James Buchanan Barnes.” Your hands meet, his overtaking yours and your heart skips a beat.
Even in the dark room the light from outside shines in just enough for you to see his face clearer than in dreams. His eyes are incredible. Pulling you in with its color, He has a stubble that most men can’t get away with but he could probably pull off anything. You realize you’re staring, you both are. You find yourself wanting to kiss him. But would it be wrong or should you ask for consent? Technically it is a dream of sorts, it wouldn't be bad. Oh fuck it kiss him.
Your brain shuts off as you grab his face to kiss him. Your lips meet his and it’s as if fireworks are going off inside your body. You can’t help but feel- actually feel how real this experience is. The softness of his lips along with the roughness of the kiss absolutely make you go feral for more. For him. You're dominating his upper lip, kissing like you’ve been touch starved for ages. His hands find their way to your waist, pulling you closer. You enjoy the control you have as the kiss deepens allowing you to set the pace.
Before you know it both your clothes are off and nowhere to be found. He’s inside of you, you’re on top riding him. His cock feels so delicious inside of you. Completely stretching you out and deeply sitting inside. Your cunt molds around him to fit like it was made for him. You grind against him wondering how life like this feels. And how you never want it to stop. He’s staring up at you in admiration holding your hips letting you go at your own pace. You feel so full. He’s as deep as he can be and it feels like nothing you’ve ever experienced. It feels incredible, pleasurable, and magical. You’ve never felt so secure in front of anybody especially during something so intimate. It makes you feel free knowing you don’t have to hide yourself as he accepts you for you. James wants you for you.
“I’ve missed you.” His words come out clearly. You know he doesn’t mean miss when it comes to skipped dreams but real life.
“I know, I’ve missed you too.” You lean down to kiss him, letting him take control this time.
Sunday Morning
Your body is riddled with anxiety as you and Natasha search for James Bunchanan Barnes. James B Barnes. James Barnes. James, James, James.
“I’m sorry but I literally can’t find anything about him. Not from his full name or variations. Or even narrowing it to New York. Maybe we got the wrong last name like you misheard it?” Her voice is full of sympathy as she looks up from the computer. You’ve been at this for hours racking through New York’s white pages, Facebook, Instagram, even Linkedin.
“No, I know I had it right. I know. Maybe it’s just a dream I don’t know.” You sit down on your couch in defeat feeling awful. Maybe you were crazy and your brain just made this man up.
“How about we take a break, we’ve been at this for a while you know?” She gets up to stretch her legs as you continue to sit in your misery.
“Yeah that’s probably for the best. I just don’t understand why the clues aren’t adding up. Like why always place me in New York and take me to places-” Your heart stops for a second as you stop talking to grab the laptop.
“What?” Natasha sits beside you confused as you type furiously on the search bar.
Once you’re done you turn the page towards her. On Facebook there’s a profile page for a bar and cigar lounge called ‘JAZZ CLUB’.
“No way. There’s got to be a few tagged people or likes.” She opens up the app on her phone to help find the profile.
After 30 minutes you and Natasha were able to cross reference likes, comments, shares, other profiles to find James. Except it’s not James. It’s Bucky. Bucky Barnes.
Monday Morning
You called into work excusing yourself because of covid. You weren’t sick or in bed. You were in New York. You booked a ticket within the same hour you found his profile. Natasha was very reluctant to let you go but she also knew that once you set your mind to something you weren;t going to stop. She made sure to book a hotel for a night in case you ended up not being able to find any more traces of James/Bucky.
You arrived at 1pm with nothing but your phone, wallet, and the clothes on your back. The profile had no picture, no birthday, or anything except a job location. It was a record store that seemed to sell used and new vinyls of all genres. You used Apple Maps to guide you to the store. You were too anxious to get a taxi and instead began walking. You also wanted some time to yourself to play out some scenarios of what might happen, what could happen, and your plans to cry yourself to sleep if all else fails.
Your heart performs palpitations as the road on the map gets more narrow counting down how many feet you are. All until you’re standing right in front of the small looking store. The sign looks like it hasn’t been painted since the day it was put on. The store itself looks like it could be run down itself and abandoned until you see a group of teenagers walk out laughing about something that you don’t hear. Just go in. Literally go in. Open the door, step in, and ask for him. That’s all you have to do. But it feels like more than that. It feels like hanging your feet off a cliff and asking yourself to jump.
‘Okay calm it, You kissed and you had sex. Just walk in, ask for him and leave. Maybe you’ll even get a vinyl out of it.’
You’re walking in right as you finish your pep talk. The store is larger than expected. Posters hang on the walls along with shelves displaying records and stickers. There’s aisles of records in milk crates and wooden boxes with scribbled handwriting identifying the alphabetical order and genre.
“Welcome to Lucid Dreaming, I’m Steve, let me know if I can help you find anything.” A male’s voice pulls you from the record stacks. He’s standing near a box unloading a shipment it looks like. He’s tall and blonde, looks far too clean cut for this kind of store. But kind nonetheless.
“Actually, I was wondering if you could help me find someone.” You almost regret even asking, cringing on the inside in case you made a mistake.
“I can try, shoot.” He’s stops working to focus on you.
“Do you know a James or Bucky? I’m not sure the name he goes by actually.” Your voice trails off not trying to stutter or make a complete fool of yourself.
“Yeah, he’s the co-owner of this place. He said he needed to step out for a minute but let me check in the office. Just give me one sec!”His eyes light up as he heads to the door behind him labeled ‘EMPLOYEES ONLY’. At least he knows a James or Bucky. That gives you some hope.
You can’t believe it. You’re seconds away from meeting your potential soulmate or being crushed. Either way at least you tried. You’re mindlessly flipping through records as the door opens and you look up to find not only Steve walking out but James. Your James. The one from your shared dreams. The one from last night and the night before. Exactly as you pictured even down to the stubble. Your heart feels like it’s going to pound out of your chest as your eyes meet. James looks like a deer caught in headlights. Eyes wide and no words. Steve looks between you and Bucky trying to understand the connection.
“You know her?” Steve asks, trying to get an answer of what’s going on as Bucky walks towards you.
Bucky’s voice almost breaks in disbelief, not taking his eyes off you as he replies to Steve.“It’s her. It’s the girl from the dreams.” Bucky whispers the last part as he is now standing in front of you, “The girl of my dreams”.

You stumble through the open door onto the roof terrace. There are people staring at you and some of them seem to recognize you - you knew people were talking and you were old enough to just not care about that kinda shit anymore. They haven't been through what you've been through and if they decided to judge you? Well that was on them.
Right now you needed to find him. Megumi reacted the way he did because he loved you. You knew that. You pass by a table and a few lounge chairs and recognize the people sitting there from your college lectures. A girl, you remember her name to be Yue, waves you over.
"Y/N! Hi, are you alright?" she asks and you can hear a tiny bit of concern in her voice as you stumble and bump into one of the chairs.
"Hi, uh, yeah 'm fine." you answer and shoot her a smile, fumbling with the sleeves of your dress before you drop into the chair you just bumped into. Your head was spinning while you were desperately trying to process what had just happened inside but it was too much, it was too loud, too many people, too much booze. Everyone around you seemed to have the time of their lives while you were stuck inside your mind.
You reach for the half-empty bottle of vodka that was on the table in front of you and pour yourself a glass. It would definitely not help you to get any clearer in the head, but it would calm your nerves. Or at least you could just escape this mess for a few more minutes.
You put the glass to your lips and down its contents before filling it right back up. You can feel the stares of the guys sitting next to you. You never bothered to speak to anyone in your lectures and you didn't even know their names but apparently they seemed to enjoy seeing you in this state.
Under normal circumstances you wouldn't give them a single glance and you would’ve snapped at them for staring at you like this but now, as drunk as you were, you didn't even notice how far your dress had ridden up, or the spilled liquor on your cleavage. The wet fabric clung to your boobs, exposing you without really exposing you.
"Hey, slow down." Yue laughed as you down another shot, taking the bottle out of your hand. You look at her before leaning back in your chair, closing your eyes for a brief moment.
"Listen I actually don't want to bother you any longer," you frown, unsure what to say next "just 'wanna know if you saw Gojo or Megumi I- I am looking for him." you say, unsure if Yue could understand you over the music.
Yue looks at you. You know she understood you because you can see pity in her eyes and you immediately regret asking her in the first place. You told yourself that you didn’t care but you still hated that everyone around you had their opinion about you and your relationship. No one dared to say it out loud, but everyone thought the same. Even your friends.
"Well, I don't know where Gojo is but I saw Megumi passing by just when I came out here," She moves closer to you to pull your dress down, glaring at the two guys that were staring at you.
"I think he left." She looks at her hands, obviously searching for the right words to say to you.
Yue leans over to you. You weren't exactly close but apparently most people on campus knew about the ups and downs in your relationship. People really liked to talk.
"Y/N I guess your friends are really worried about you," she says gently, trying not to cross your boundaries. "You should really stop looking for him - I mean everyone saw the bruising on your neck-"
Well, so much for not crossing boundaries.
"Megumi would never hurt me." you protest, cutting her off.
"-people say he threatened you with a gun after an argument escalated." Yue carefully put her hand on your leg and you flinched.
"That's bullshit." you laugh, getting flustered. How could this even have spread around? You told nobody except Maki.
"That’s not what happened." you whisper.
"You don't threaten someone you love with a gun." Yue said in a sharp voice. You look at her, completely thrown off guard.
"Yeah and I guess you don't stick your nose in other peoples fucking business." you hiss and lean on your hands to lift yourself up out of the chair, a little bit wobbly on your feet. You grab the bottle of vodka from her hands and stumble in the direction of the terrace door.
You feel tears well up in your eyes as you remember that day a few weeks ago. It happened in your dorm room again, you just came home from another lecture. Grabbing you from behind in complete darkness, Megumi covered your mouth with his hand to keep you from screaming as he pressed cold metal to your temple. You will never forget how utterly and absolutely terrified you were.
You will never forget the look he had in his eyes when he threw you against the wall and made you face him. You could see on his face how much he enjoyed having absolute power over you.
***
"You fucking stalking me now?" he spat at you, holding you against the wall of your dorm room by your neck. Your throat still hurt from the last time he did this to you.
Megumi had an old revolver in the other hand and pointed it at your head. "What the fuck did you think you were doing last night? You are fucking crazy, Y/N." Your body was shaking, he sounded so angry it completely scared the shit of you.
Would you let him treat you like this for the rest of your life?
"You were fucking some other bitch last night you fucking asshole," you screamed out, cutting him off. "I fucking know it! Stop bullshitting me I fucking heard you through that door." You started crying.
"You telling me this after you sucked off some random guy at the party you were at? You fucking kidding me?" - "We just kissed an-and I was drunk-" you started explaining but got cut off as Megumi pulled you towards him by your neck before slamming your head against the wall. You let out a muffled groan.
He was still holding the gun to your temple and you were scared shitless that it would go off.
”'We just kissed and I was drunk'” he mimicked your voice and you cried out in pain. Your head hurt, your face was scrunched up and your eyes closed.
”You are a fucking whore, Y/N, and you don't fucking own up to your actions. You’re a fucking slut and you think you deserve to get treated like a fucking princess.” Megumi spat at you.
You started bawling.
"At least that bitch wasn't as fucking annoying." Megumi huffed.
"I really fucking hate you." You yelled at him.
"Leave me alone, stop touching me." You felt a headache coming on, your head was throbbing and tears were flowing uncontrollably down your face. "I hate you."
How could you keep on doing this to yourself? You slowly came to the realization that nor you were scared of him neither you were scared of him being violent. You were simply scared about the fact that no matter what he did to you, you couldn't stop loving him.
"I know you do." Megumi answered.
He took his hand off from around your neck and you felt the cold metal leave your skin as he slowly lowered the gun. Your pulse pounded against the spot where the barrel had just been pointed at and you see the usual blank stare returning to his face.
"You're abusive and a fucking psychopathic maniac." you cried, trying to catch some air.
He just kept staring at you with emptiness in his eyes, watching tears stream down your cheeks.
"I hate the way you're making me feel, Megumi." you added quietly, staring at the ground.
"I know." he said.
You sniffled, tears still streaming down your face.
"Can't you just leave me alone already?" you said, rubbing the bruising on your throat with shaky hands. You didn't even believe yourself and the words that came out of your mouth seemed so far away. As if you were standing next to yourself and listening to some other person talking.
"That's what you want me to do?" he asked in a calm voice and lifted the gun that was still in his hand.
No you didn't.
Megumi opened the chamber of the revolver in his hands. You saw that it was indeed loaded when he dropped the six bullets into his hand and slipped five of them in his pocket. He then placed a single round back into the gun and spinned the cylinder with his thumb.
You stood there in silence and watched what he was doing.
He lifted the gun and held it against your forehead. You closed your eyes, unable to stop your body from shaking. You begged him to stop.
"Megumi, stop, you’re scaring me, please stop that." you pleaded. "Just leave me alone, please stop-"
Not until you felt him pull back the gun did you dare to open your eyes. Your cheeks were wet with tears and as soon as you opened your eyes, his gaze met yours. His dark eyes looked so empty as he put the barrel to his own head.
Your heart stopped once again.
And then he pulled the trigger.
You squealed and instantly flinched but you could only hear a silent click! - the gun didn’t go off.
Suddenly it dawned on you what he was up to. Even if you didn't quite want to believe it, in the condition he was in right now he would have been capable of anything. Even of something as crazy as this.
And you were so fucking scared of how far he would go this time.
"Megumi- stop p-please STOP." you sobbed.
He was manic. Completely out of his mind.
"You asked me to leave you alone." His voice eerily calm, as always. He closed his eyes and grimaced, pulling the trigger again.
Nothing. No loud BANG! just a faint metallic click!
Watching him almost put a bullet in his head a second time had traumatized you. If he hadn't managed to do that by now, he certainly did at that moment.
"Megumi- PLEASE- please stop this." you screamed hysterically and reached out to him, your hand now touching his chest.
"Please stop, I-I love you- I love you so much- p-please stop I don’t want you to leave me, please-" you wailed. Your body followed your hand and you leaned against him, head buried in his chest. You felt so weak, barely able to hold yourself on your feet. You sobbed and cried into his chest, staining the fabric of his sweater with salty tears.
And you could feel that his body was shaking as well.
You didn't dare look up at him. After a minute that felt like an eternity you finally felt his arm wrap around your waist, stone-cold metal now pressed against your back.
Megumi’s chin was resting on top of your head and he slowly pressed his lips to you hair, inhaling your scent while planting kisses.
"Next time you ask me to leave you I’ll kill us both." he whispered in a cold voice and you nodded, barely noticeable.
"I love you." he added and you closed your eyes.
He loved you. That was all that mattered to you.
You could never love another man, not even if you wanted to.
***
You made it back inside on shaky legs, your heels were way too high for the amount of booze you had in your system by now. You screw off the lid of the bottle in your hands and take a sip. Looking around you spot none of your friends except Yuta but he didn’t seem to notice you.
He’s sitting on that very couch you were sitting on with Choso just a while ago and at a second glance you can see that he’s making out with your roommate. Maki didn’t seem to notice you either, as she was completely distracted by Yuta’s lips and his hands all over her body.
Under other circumstances you would have been quite excited about this turn of events - you knew how long Maki had been crushing on him. And you also knew that Yuta was the one who fell first, given how he acted around her and how he looked at her like she was the only woman on the planet.
But now you were way too drunk and way to invested in finding Megumi to care about anything else. You push past a few people while drinking from the almost empty bottle, trying to find the front door.
After taking a few wrong turns you eventually find yourself standing in front of the door through which you had entered the apartment a couple hours ago. And just as you put your hand on the doorknob, you feel someone snatch the bottle from you.
"What the-" you start and turn around, looking at pink hair and a deeply concerned face.
"What are you doing? Let me get you home." Yuji was completely sober again, looking at you with a raised eyebrow.
"I really need to get som' fresh air Yuji, please jus' leave me 'lone" You slur, struggling to stay on your feet.
Yuji held the empty bottle in his left hand and grabbed your wrist with his right to keep you from falling.
"Y/N, please, don’t go out there by yourself. You can either sleep in my room or I’ll get you home." He tries to pull you away from the door but you stand your ground.
"Please just let me gooo." you beg, impatiently stomping with your feet after finding your balance again. "Let me go." you insist and try to pull your arm away from him.
"I just don't want you to get hurt, Y/N" Yuji says and you have literally no idea on how to get out of this situation. It was not like he would just let you leave like this.
"Listn' I really don' need a babysitter and I have an Uber waiting for me, so please just lemme' go." you lie to him, hoping he would be satisfied with that.
"Bullshit, you did not call an Uber. That’s like a five minute walk, we’re right next to campus." he busted your lie. "What are you really up to, huh?" Yuji asks.
Choso and Yuji indeed lived right next to the campus. You had always asked yourself how they were able to afford this huge apartment and you figured that Choso not only consumed the drugs he hid here by himself - but also dealt them. That would explain at least a few things, for example all the people who constantly went in and out of here.
After a while of not answering him, Yuji finally lets go of your wrist and looks at the ground.
"You're looking for him, don't you?" he asks after meeting your gaze again. The look in his eyes made you feel so terrible and ashamed.
"Listen, he’s my best friend too, but he just beat up my brother and that look on his face? I don’t know Y/N, he looked like he was capable of anything in that moment." You tried to avoid his gaze, but no chance. It seemed like he pinned you to the wall with his eyes alone.
"I'm not looking for him- I'm-" you start when suddenly you get cut off by a few guys that were calling out for Yuji. As he turns around for a split second you immediately take advantage of him being distracted to open the door and slip outside.
You quickly walk in the direction of the stairs, your head spinning but you try to stay composed and take one step after the other before finally stumbling through the door downstairs onto the street.
The sky was completely black, not a single star in sight and the only light was coming from a few dimly lit street lamps. Thankfully it was still relatively warm outside.
You take a few shaky steps away from the building, still a bit afraid Yuji would follow you. You were in no condition to run from him.
For a while the sound of your heels on concrete is the only thing you can hear until you notice the faint buzz of your phone in your purse.
MEGUMI: "Meet me outside. I'll wait for you." Your heart starts beating faster.
The text was from about 30 minutes ago so you figure that you didn't have a signal upstairs in the apartment. You look up from the screen and turn around, trying to find where Megumi was waiting.
You flinch a little when suddenly a parked car on the side of the road starts its engine.
You recognize the black pickup truck and as the lights inside light up for a brief moment, you see Megumi sitting in the driver's seat. Your vision is still a bit blurry and your head’s dizzy but your legs are already carrying you towards the car.
He really expected you to come looking for him.
You open the car's door and slip into the passenger seat without saying a word. The lights inside are dimmed and you can only see his pale, slender fingers on the steering wheel. His dark clothes swallow him up and the hood of his sweater is pulled down over his face.
Megumi did not say a single word either, his face turned towards the windshield in front of him.
"Y/N!" you hear someone call out for you as you close the door behind you. Looking through the window you spot Yuji at the entrance door of the apartment building. He's holding the open door and watching you get into the car.
"Your dog’s already looking for you, huh?" Megumi asks without expecting an answer and starts the truck. He drives off before Yuji could even think about running after you.
Yuji's eyes were full of concern and yours were full of guilt as you turn to face him, but you quickly lower your gaze. You couldn’t stand looking at him. You knew how desperate he must feel right now.
At this point you wouldn't blame your friends if they never spoke to you ever again. The hours they spent worrying about you, the evenings they spent trying to talk you out of your relationship with Megumi.
It was all for nothing.
You slip out of your heels and throw them to the back of the truck. Megumi looked at you, one hand on the steering wheel. He watched you while you were rubbing your aching feet, trying to ease the pain from walking in these goddamn high heels for hours.
With his free hand he stroked your thigh, motioning you to put your legs in his lap.
"C'mere." you hear his deep voice and you hesitate for a second before you stretch your legs out towards him. He starts massaging your freshly pedicured feet with one hand, the other one gripping the steering wheel tightly. His eyes were focused on the road in front of him.
You close your eyes for a moment and enjoy the sensation of his touch, your whole body was aching and this right now was a blessing, no matter how awkward the situation was.
After a few minutes you feel the car speeding up. You knew that Megumi was probably still drunk but you also did not really care about it. It was not a big surprise to you that he would drive drunk and it was also not the first time he did this.
For a really long time neither of you said a single word and you were just enjoying his touch on your skin, without having to fill the silence.
"What were you thinking?" Megumi was the first to break the silence, eyes still fixated on the road. His voice was icy and it made you shiver.
"What d’you mean?" you ask, pretending to be clueless. Your head starts spinning a little as you open your eyes again.
"Don’t play dumb." Megumi huffed, looking over to you, directly into your eyes. "I mean you, sitting in Choso's lap, behaving like a slut in front of everyone."
"Mhm." you answer, turning your face away from him. You switch on the radio. 'After Hours' by The Weeknd starts playing, probably from some playlist you made for him.
"Technically, I wasn’t sitting in his lap." you say. You're not sure you would have had the courage to say that if Megumi hadn't been busy driving.
Even though you’re unsure of what to say next, you didn't want to submit to him again. You did not want to make yourself so small anymore.
"Shouldn’t the question be: Why the hell do you even care?" You shift your weight and put one foot up on his thigh, stroking his crotch through the fabric of his pants.
The last bit of alcohol in your blood gave you at least a little courage.
"It’s not like we are together anymore." you say teasingly as he looks over to you again.
Megumi grabs your leg, pushing it back down roughly. You wince, as his grip on your ankle is a bit too harsh.
"Ouch." you protest and he lets go of you. You send him an innocent smile and tilt your head to the side, as you continue to stroke his thigh with your foot. You feel a bulge growing in his crotch just seconds later
"So why does it matter to you?" He doesn’t answer. You see the grip of his hand tighten around the steering wheel, but he doesn’t say anything. Instead he keeps on caressing your feet and legs, trying to push them down or hold you still but you don’t let him.
The two of you just sit in silence again, listening to the music without talking to each other.
"It matters because I don’t want to see that fucking bastard all over you, acting like he owns y-" Megumi says after a while but you cut him off.
"We’re not together anymore and you don’t get to beat up anyone I am involved with," You snap at him. "Cut your fucking bullshit Megumi, I am sick of this."
You don’t know how to feel. This is all so confusing - a big part of you is annoyed with him and so hurt and heartbroken, but the other part, probably even bigger, wants to nestle in against his chest and leave as little space as possible between the two of you.
And he knew that, too. That smug piece of shit knew you inside out, and acting was not exactly your strength.
"Then why are you here?" he asks and glances at you, both hands on the steering wheel again.
You think for a moment, look over at him, then out the window again. You skip to the next song and loll your legs in his lap now sitting on your side and resting against the back of the car seat.
"I guess I make terrible life choices and besides, you almost hospitalized my one chance at some superficial sex tonight so you have to deal with me now." You say, trying to sound almost bored. Or  at least unbothered.
Megumi swallows, eyes still fixated on the road. You figured that this was not what he wanted to hear but to your surprise you hear him chuckle seconds later.
Well, as you had already noted: he knew you too well.
"Nah, don’t bullshit me." he sneered. "You started looking for me as soon as you arrived at that party. I saw you disappear with Yuji immediately after."
Megumi ignored your little show of pretending that all of this left you completely cold and you just wanted to end up in someones bed. It was a show after all.
"And I saw you getting out of that bathroom, holding hands with my best friend." You cross your arms. "Wearing the dress I bought for you. "
"I doubt that you wanted Choso to fuck you tonight." Megumi huffs, his deep voice making your heart race.
"I doubt that you wanted anyone else’s attention than mine." He was so right.
After a few more minutes of sitting in silence with the music playing softly in the background and Megumi driving off into the darkness, you roll the window all the way down. He looks over to you as you lean your head out slightly, hair waving in the breeze.
You take a deep breath and lean out a bit further, supporting yourself on the window frame. As you arch your back a little, your breasts start to perk up and you close your eyes to fully enjoy the cool night air blowing in your face. Besides the music and the sound of the engine it was so quiet outside. The world was asleep and somehow that comforted you.
You feel Megumi’s gaze on your body. His hands act upon his thoughts as he starts stroking up your calves, over your thighs and further up under your dress. You lean back inside and your eyes meet, but as always you couldn't quite read his expression.
You slowly pull your legs out of his lap and rest your feet on the dashboard. Without breaking eye contact you lift yourself up out of your seat, pulling up your dress a little and taking off your panties. His eyes widen for a second but he seems to try his best to stay composed.
In your perception, you didn't have much power over him. Not after he managed to read you like an open book once again. He was right about everything he said, even if you wish it was different.
You only went to that party because you hoped something like this would happen.
Megumi would probably not make that statement - even if it didn't seem like that to you, he knew you could bring him to his knees with the blink of an eye.
He swallows hard, turns away for a moment to look at the road and looks right back at you again. You feel his hand run across your thigh, squeezing gently.
You meet his gaze with the most innocent smile on your lips before you throw your panties in his direction.
Megumi's lips twitch as he takes a look at the pair of panties lying in his lap.
"I knew I was right." he says with a smug grin on his lips. You notice his eyes immediately scanning the road for an exit and you giggle as the car takes a sharp turn off into some run-down construction side.
"Well, you better hurry up, so you can make up for the amazing sex I would’ve had if it wasn’t for you." you purr and look up at him from big doe eyes.
He glances over, looking you up and down
"I will definitely make you regret saying that out loud." Megumi hums before he brings the car to a halt in the shadow of an unfinished building.
You roll the window back up and climb over to him without thinking twice, straddling his lap in the drivers seat. He grabs your hips to bring you into the right position and you smile down at him before you lower your lips to his neck.
"Promise?" you ask and feel his hands move all over your body before sliding under your dress, pushing it up and squeezing your ass with both of his hands while you’re leaving hickeys on his pale skin.
"God, I missed that feeling." he groans as you grind down on his lap. You can feel how hard he already was while dampening the fabric of his pants with your soaking wet pussy. You pull back for a moment and look into his eyes. Just seconds later your lips crash down on his, wet and sloppy as you hold his face with both of your hands.
His hands move further down your ass and you moan into his mouth when his fingers reach your slick heat, sliding through your wet folds. He teases you, circling your clit and your clenching hole lazily with two fingers. He deepens the kiss before your lips part with an audible pop! and you’re left to catch your breath.
His lips wander along your jaw and the side of your neck while your hands move from his face down his neck and over his chest, further down to his pants. Megumi’s hands are back on your ass to lift you up a little so you can try and open up his belt to pull down his trousers. With a hasty movement you relieve him of his pants and grind down on him immediately after.
You flinch a little when you feel his leaking tip brush against your sensitive clit. Letting out a quiet whimper you start grinding on him again, sliding his hard dick through your wet folds. He pulls you into another kiss, gentle at first before he nips at your bottom lip and then bites down hard. You pant and slide your tongue into his mouth, making him groan in return.
You pull away and look deep into his eyes, arms now wrapped around his neck. Megumi pulls you up again by your waist, positioning his cock at your wet entrance. You cry out in pleasure just as he pushes the fat tip of his cock inside you without giving you any time to adjust.
"Ahh, 'gumi! Fuck-" you moan. You lift yourself up again, the sensation of his dick filling you out being just too much to handle for you right now. Megumi looks at you, a crooked smile on his lips. Hands on your hips and lower back he pulls you closer to him, you can feel his hot breath against your neck.
"Too much?" He breathes into your ear. "Guess you didn’t fuck around after all."
"Good girl 'been waiting for me." he whispers, caressing your back with one hand before he thrusts up deep into your tight pussy, bottoming out completely. You squeal but have no chance of escaping him as he holds you in place with both of his hands.
"Ah- Fuck! Fuck- Megumi-" you whine, throwing your head back in pleasure.
"Shit- How are you so fucking tight?" you hear Megumi growl though clenched teeth as he holds you down for another moment to keep you from moving. Finally his grip on your hips loosens a little and you start grinding up and down, picking up the pace. Still, you felt how much he hated not having full control over you so he kept on guiding you with his hands.
He watched your pussy swallow his cock whole, going so deep and hitting spots inside you that made you cry out in pleasure and pain, his thick girth stretching you out just right.
Megumi is quick to push your dress further up your waist to expose your boobs, watching them bounce up and down as you keep on riding his dick. You moan out in pleasure while picking up the pace of grinding on his cock, making him pant and groan against your soft skin.
His gaze and hands wander all over your body, having your soaked cunt crush down on his cock even harder now that you were free to move however you liked. Megumi’s getting lost in watching your cute pussy bury him deep inside, creaming and slowly forming a white ring around his shaft.
Your head’s still thrown back in pleasure, eyes rolling to the back of your head from the sensation of your tight hole clenching around his thick girth, your moans and gasps and groans and the sound of skin slapping against skin fill up the car.
He watches you in awe as you fuck yourself on his cock exactly how you need it, whimpering, moaning and breathing so hard as he puts a thumb to your clit, drawing harsh circles that make you flinch.
"You’re so fucking beautiful-" he groans, trying to catch his breath and coming back to reality as he notices your moans getting needier and your breathing getting harder.
"'Please 'gumi- need you to-" you babble, your grinding on his dick gets sloppier and after a few more lazy circles Megumi's hands move to your waist, squeezing the fat on your hips on his way up.
One hand on your waist, the other moving up, grabbing and squeezing your boobs before wrapping around your neck, he holds you in place as he roughly starts fucking up into you.
Your thighs were already shaking, his hand around your neck still squeezing tightly. You’re gasping for air while now being fucked at a brutal pace.
"Oh- Fuck- just like that Megumi-" you moan. "Please d-don’t stop- Just like that-" The quiet pleads leave your lips and you close your eyes, desperately trying to hold yourself up by supporting yourself with your hands on the window frame and steering wheel.
"You think Choso would’ve made you feel like this?" Megumi sneered, already leaving bruises on your neck by how hard he was squeezing down his hand. You try to shake your head but instead you can just let out a quiet whimper.
"Huh? You think he could’ve fucked you like I fuck you?" he spat, loosening his grip just as you begin to see stars forming in the corners of your eyes. You feel his hand on your cheek and a second later you hear a loud slap! followed by a stinging sensation on your face.
"I asked you a question." he growls, his thumb on your lips, pressing into your mouth. You begin to suck on it instinctively, your eyes half closed and your strength slowly leaving you because he was pounding so hard up into you.
"N-No- only you-" you whimper, voice breaking.
"Good girl," he praises "be a good little slut and keep squeezing me so tight." His thumb leaves your mouth and you fall forward a bit, losing the support of his hands. Your walls clench around him, turning you into a moaning mess against the hot, sweaty skin of his face.
"Fuck- such a good little whore for me, huh?" Megumi growls into your ear while your head rests against the side of his face. He’s still at a brutal pace, his thrusts getting even deeper and you can’t help but whimper and cry on top of him.
"P-Please- Can’t take n’more" you sob while he fucks into you relentlessly, making you cry out in pain and pleasure.
"Please- Please let me cum-" you whimper, tears starting to form in the corners of your eyes.
"Look at me." Megumi orders and you try to lean back again, supported by his strong arms holding you upright.
"F-Feels so good." you cry, squirming and wiggling under his touch, overwhelmed with the delicious feeling of his dick pumping in and out of you. He’s hitting all the right spots while your walls are squeezing him so tight. Megumi holds you in place, hands on your hips and lower back, not letting you move a centimeter to the side.
"Fuck- doing so good- now cum on my dick, be a good girl for me." Megumi groans, not taking his eyes off of you for even a second. Tears roll down your cheeks while you look deep into his dark eyes, black strands of hair sticking to the damp skin of his forehead.
With every thrust you feel the knot in your stomach getting tighter, with every brush of his shaft against your puffy clit you feel yourself getting closer to the edge until you feel that sweet release washing over your body with a final harsh thrust. Your lewd moans and your tight pussy clenching around his cock throw him over the edge just seconds later and you feel him pumping his load deep into you with a few feral groans escaping his lips.
"F-fuck- keep squeezing me so tight," he breathes into your ear, pressing your body as close as possible to his while you lazily continue to move up and down on his dick. "Good girl." Megumi moans. He holds you tight and you bury your face in the crook of his neck.
For quite a long time you both are just trying to catch your breath, entwined in each others arms. The truck’s windows are steamed-up and only the shallow light of the moon falling through the windshield makes it possible for you to see anything at all.
"You’re something else." Megumi whispers after a while, his soft cock gliding out of your sticky cunt and his hot breath hitting your skin. He quickly pulls up his pants and pulls down your dress before he pulls you back into his lap, your body trembling under his touch.
"I missed you." he says and you feel so exhausted that you can only nestle into his chest, listen to his heartbeat and close your eyes, while he strokes your back gently.
"Let me stay the night. I’ll get you home." he whispers and plants a kiss on top of your hair.
"Not if you’ll leave me again." Your voice sounded so delicate and fragile, he had to pause and swallow before he could answer.
"I won’t." he says quietly.
"Please don’t leave me again." you repeat yourself and you feel a single tear forming in the corner of your eye that gets wiped away by Megumi’s hand caressing your cheek.
"I promise." You look up at him and he pulls you into a deep kiss. "I love you." you say quietly.
He doesn’t say anything.
"I still love you." You feel so vulnerable, it’s almost making you sick. "I don’t care about us fighting or fucking or obsessing over each other - deep down I know that I’m only capable of loving you."
"You’re the only one I want." You add in a low voice.
"I know." You hear Megumi’s muffled voice, his face is buried in your hair.
If only he could see the damage he did to you. How dependent you were, how much he was hurting you.
If only you could see how much you were pouring oil on his fire, how obsessed you were with him.
There was no happy end for the both of you and deep down you knew that.

……………………………………………………………………………. Ricky’s POV
I slept with Y/N.
I just had sex with the girl who I was protecting from my brother.
What the fuck just happened??
I looked down at her sleeping figure, she looked so peaceful and content. God, what the hell have I done? I fucked up big time. There was no turning back from this. I was in deep shit now.
I carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake up Y/N. I put on sweatpants and a shirt and went into the living room. I slumped down on the couch, sighing heavily as I ran my hands through my hair.
There was no taking back what had happened. We were now connected on a whole new level, things wouldn’t be the same after this.
If something happened to her now, it would ruin me. I was in love with her, and the idea of Sola getting his hands on her would tear me apart.
This was exactly what I was afraid of. I didn’t want to be assigned anyone in fear of growing attached. Once you grow attached to someone, you don’t want to lose them. I didn’t want to lose Y/N.
“Damn it, what am I going to do?" I groaned, rubbing the back of my neck. My train of thought was interrupted by the memory of Y/N and how soft her skin felt…
She felt amazing, in all sorts of ways. God, she was so damn gorgeous too. The way that she begged for me, the sounds she made…
“Fuck..” I muttered, running a hand through my hair. “This isn’t easy.”
I had no clue on what to do. My mind and my heart were telling me different things. It was a matter of protecting her, or protecting my heart. Regardless, I was going to have to talk to her. What happened couldn’t be left forgotten.
…………………………………………………………
Y/N’s POV
I groaned softly as I opened my eyes and stretched out my body in bed. I sat up, rubbing my eyes before looking around. Suddenly, the memories of last night clouded my thoughts and I couldn’t help but hide my face in my hands, blushing hard.
One thing was off though. Where was Ricky? I remembered falling asleep in his arms after we had cleaned up, the rest was blurry. I knew he said he didn’t need sleep to get by, but a part of me was hoping he would’ve stayed with me.
I shrugged it off, realizing it wasn’t that big of a deal. Perhaps he had woken up before me? Maybe he was eating breakfast or just starting his day.
“Don’t overthink things Y/N. He’s probably just in the living room or something..” I told myself as I put on a pair of comfy shorts and hoodie and put my hair up with a light blue hair tie.
I walked out of Ricky’s bedroom and started looking for him. I saw him in the kitchen with his back turned. I snuck up behind him and hugged him from behind. “Morning,” I said in a cheerful tone.
Ricky seemed to flinch a little at my action, “Oh, um…hey.” He said rather awkwardly.
Confused, I pulled away, “Is something the matter?” I asked.
“Y/N, we need to talk about last night..” He said quietly as he turned to face me.
Oh god, he must’ve hated it, didn’t he? I felt a wave of nervousness and dread wash over me, but I tried to play it cool.
“Of course! What about it?”
Ricky sighed, hugging his arms and looking to the side. He hesitated for a moment before looking back at me, “Last night was a mistake.”
My fear had come true. He hated it. I knew it. I could’ve sworn my heart stopped for a moment.
“What we did…should’ve never happened. I don’t know what the hell I was thinking…”
“Do you…regret it?…” I asked, fearing the answer.
Ricky looked down, a look of pure guilt and shame in his eyes. “Yes…”
“…I-I don’t understand-“
“Listen, it’s nothing against you. It’s just…” He trailed off, looking away.
“It’s just what?” I asked, growing more and more upset as I stepped towards him. I wanted answers. I was confused and a bit sad now too.
“It should’ve never happened. I’m only supposed to protect you from my brother. That’s it. I’m not supposed to be having sex with you, or be intimate with you in any sort of way,” Frustration and guilt in his tone, “I’m just someone who was sent to protect you. That’s all I’m supposed to be. That’s all we can be. We can’t be anything more. Once Sola is no longer a threat to you…I think it’s best we go our own separate ways…I’m sorry…”
Not once while he spoke did he dare look me in the eyes. He hated the words that came out of his mouth, like he was forcing himself to say it. I stared at him in disbelief and heartbreak.
“Then has any of the time we spent together mean ANYTHING to you?” I shouted at him, “All the times you’ve comforted me, told me you’d never leave my side…was that because you actually cared about me? Or was it because you just have to protect me?”
“Of course I care about you-“
“No, no the fuck you don’t! If you did then you wouldn’t be saying such things!” I yelled, tears pricking the corners of my eyes. My cheeks were red with anger. “The times we spent in the woods together, when we made breakfast together, when we went out last night to the fields and gelato place…doesn’t that mean something, anything to you?” Tears now coming down my face, “You’re a fucking liar Ricky! You pretty much lied to me last night after my nightmare.”
Ricky just stood there, head down in his hand. He didn’t make any eye contact with me again. He seemed afraid to. He didn’t say a word, he felt guilty.
“You don’t have anything to say, do you?” I laughed coldly, “That’s fine. I get it knowing that I’m talking to someone who only sees me as an assignment to get done..”
“That’s not true!-“
“It sure seems like it is. You’re only protecting me because you have to, not because you want to.” I said bitterly, shaking my head and turning away, beginning to walk away.
“Sweetness, wait!”
I stopped in my tracks and turned my head back, looking at him with pure resentment, anger and sadness, “I’m not your sweetness.” I said as I looked back in the other direction, “I wouldn’t have changed a thing about last night…I had a wonderful time…I’m sorry that it was a mistake to you…” My voice finally broke as I ran off into my bedroom, slamming the door shut and locking it.
I threw myself onto the bed and started sobbing. I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. All I was to him was an assignment to get done and then leave me when he was finished.
All the time I spent with him was in the garbage now. It all felt like one big lie. It fucking hurt. I truly thought we had a connection, I thought we were becoming closer. I was wrong.
It hurt even worse because I was falling in love with him too. The way he made me feel last night was incredible…The way his hands moved on my body, the way he kissed me, all the pretty words and praises…
“Why did I have to fall in love with him?” I murmured between sobs, so conflicted and upset. My heart hurt.
I didn’t want to believe what he said was true. It didn’t feel right. It didn’t make sense. The way he’s been treating me since the day we met contradicts what he said this morning, and it just didn’t add up. Why would he say all of this? Was it because of last night?
It didn’t matter. I was angry and I felt used and lied to.
“I can’t deal with this right now..” I grumbled, standing up and wiping away my tears. I didn’t want to be in this house anymore. It hurt too much. I needed air and space.
I threw on a pair of sweatpants and put my hood up. I opened up my window and jumped out of it, landing on the ground. I gave the house one last glance before sighing and started walking away. I didn’t know where I was going, and it didn’t matter at this point. I just wanted to get away. I needed to clear my head. I wasn’t okay.
I walked for what seemed like hours before I stumbled upon a familiar place. The woods. The place I always went to whenever I was feeling stressed or upset. The place that brought me comfort ever since I was a little girl. My happy place.
The smell of wet leaves welcomed me as I began walking along the dirt path. It felt so nice to be back here, even though I was here a few days ago.
I walked for a bit before sitting down against a tree and looking up at the sky. It was cloudy today. Just like the days Ricky and I were here together. Both times, it was cloudy. That was a strange coincidence.
I suddenly felt a heavy feeling of loneliness as I thought of Ricky. I had such a nice time with him when he took me back here. We had talked so much, and shared so many laughs. It was also when I told him about my reoccurring nightmares. The way he comforted me and held me…
I missed the way he held me. I felt so safe and loved like that. I guess that didn’t even mean anything to him though, did it? It still just didn’t feel right…
“Why did I have to fall for you Ricky?” I whispered, tears falling down my face silently as I hugged my knees. “Why does it hurt so much?”
My lip quivered before I shoved my face into my knees, crying softly. I wanted to disappear. This whole day had been so exhausting. It brought me back to a time where I felt so alone, so miserable, when nobody cared. When I felt trapped, stuck in a cycle that I couldn’t escape.
When I met Ricky, everything changed. Sure, the news I was being targeted was scary, but Ricky was there. He was someone I didn’t even know I needed. He made me feel happy, safe and loved. I had such a wonderful time with him, and I truly thought that maybe, just maybe, I had found my person.
My heart ached at the thought of this, making me feel so stupid and vulnerable. I really thought I found someone, huh? I was stupid. I didn’t deserve anyone. I was meant to be stuck in the same lonely cycle until my time was up. I made up some stupid fantasy where I thought I had met the one, where everything would be okay, where I could finally feel happy.
“Ha, that fantasy is falling down,” I chuckled bitterly, looking down, “I’m such an idiot, aren’t I?”
I sighed, knowing it was pointless to keep sitting around. I stood up and glanced around, “Who knows, maybe if I get myself lost, some creature will come by and kill me.” I said sarcastically.
“You’re not that far off, sweet girl..” A familiar voice startled me. An instant wave of fear went through me as I turned around to see Sola.
Oh fuck…
“Y-You..”
A low chuckle escaped his lips, slowly stepping towards me. I tried to move, but I found that I couldn’t. I was frozen with fear, “Well well, we meet again precious,” He was now in front me, running the back of his hand against my cheek, “And what’s this? You’re all alone in the woods, aren’t you?” He mocked. My heart was racing, I wasn’t sure how I didn’t pass out right there. “You weren’t too far off from what you just y’know, with some creature coming and taking you away..” He said before snaking an arm around me.
Fuck, he was strong. I tried breaking out of his hold but failed. I was trapped.
“Someone help, please!” I cried out, but I knew deep down nobody would come. HE wouldn’t come…
Sola put his hand over my mouth, muffling my screams and cries for help. Everything was becoming fuzzy and patchy now. I felt myself becoming dizzier by the moment. He let out a psychotic laugh as I struggled.
“Where’s your Ricky now…sweetness?” That was the last thing I heard him say before my world went black.
…………………………………………………………
Ricky’s POV
I fucked up.
I watched as Y/N ran off to her room and flinched when the door slammed. I wanted to go and comfort her, tell her that I was an idiot for what I said, but I knew better than that.
She needed space. I shattered her heart. If I didn’t fuck up last night, I sure did now.
She hated me. She probably doesn't trust me now either, and I don’t blame her. What the hell was wrong with me?
“Fuck!” I yelled, slamming my fists onto the counter tops. My knuckles hurt, but I didn’t care. I deserved the pain. I put Y/N in pain, so I deserved to feel pain too. All because of my stupid insecurities. Even if Sola doesn’t take her away, I may as well have just lost her now.
Why couldn’t I just accept the fact I was in love with her? I craved her touch, I wanted her for myself. I don’t deserve her though. Not after what I just did. I fucked up big time.
The time I spent with her was amazing. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world. I felt happy around her. I felt comfortable, like I could be myself around her. I was supposed to be keeping her safe, and yet…she was my safe person. Now she probably doesn’t even want to see me.
I leaned against the counters and rested my head in my hands, trying to figure out what I should do. I had to make it up to her. I needed to apologize. That was the first step. I wanted to tell her I loved her.
That’s it!
I was going to go in there and tell Y/N I was in love with her, and that I didn’t mean what I said.
Taking a breath, I walked up to her door and knocked, “Y/N?”
No answer.
‘She’s not answering because she hates you, jackass.’ I mentally cursed myself, but I knew I had to keep trying.
“Listen, I’m so sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean any of it…can I please come in?” I asked softly, hoping to hear her answer.
Silence.
Now I was getting worried. “Please answer…just so I know you’re okay..”
Nothing.
Nothing but an uncomfortable silence.
“I’m coming in.” I said before messing with the door a bit until it opened. My eyes widened with fear when she wasn't there.
FUCK
“Y/N? Where are you?!” I asked, frantically looking for her. My heart stopped when I saw the window was open.
“God damn it! Where could she have gone??”
Now I was panicking. She could be anywhere! She must’ve left to have space. It immediately clicked where she went.
The woods.
I instantly teleported to the woods, and cursed under my breath when I got there.
“Fuck, she could be anywhere..”
I teleported all around the large forest, hoping to find her. After searching and searching, I couldn’t find her anywhere.
“Where the hell is she?!” I shouted, feeling so frustrated and worried.
This was all my fault. I let her get away all because I was a coward. I slumped against a tree and groaned. I looked down and saw something familiar.
Y/N’s hair tie.
I saw her wearing that exact light blue hair tie this morning. I picked it up and examined it, and my heart dropped when I realized what happened.
“No…No the fuck he didn’t..” I whispered in disbelief.
He did. Sola took Y/N.
“NO! FUCK. God fucking damn it!” I yelled, punching the ground and letting out a scream of pure grief.
She was gone.
She was gone and it was all my fault.

Y/N: onnlyly if oyuwo wants me roi 33343333333333…….;;.;.d.d' Dewey: I’m coming to get you.
That string of texts was the reason Dewey Finn found himself in his car, on his way to a dive bar, at 03:47. Y/N had tried to get him to come that night with her and her friend, Stella, but he told her he was working on music which was half true. He did need to write some songs for the kids, but he mostly tried to avoid the bar because he didn’t want to be there when she inevitably went home with another random guy. As long as she was safe he was happy but it made him incredibly jealous and he didn’t feel like stewing at the bar all night, so he said he wouldn’t go. He hadn’t heard from Y/N at all up until he got those texts; he didn’t need to see her to know that this was probably the drunkest she’s ever been. She was always kind of a lightweight and even at her drunkest she was (for the most part) aware of her surroundings, but these texts made absolutely no sense. He was afraid someone would pick her up and just leave with her because she wouldn’t be able to defend herself or even say no.
When he pulled up to the Roadhouse it was still pretty packed, which wasn’t all that shocking for a Friday night. He arrived at the nick of time— someone was leaving. He immediately took their spot which, luckily, was right next to the door. He ran inside and started searching for Y/N, praying she was still there.
Calling out “Y/N!” elicited no response, but once Dewey finally found her it became clear that he got no response because she most likely didn't even know her own name. She was flopping around the bar, babbling nonsense to random people. Some humored her for a bit, while others ignored her; Dewey was just glad nobody had tried to take her home.
He gently reached out for her hand, and she almost toppled over after attempting to turn around. Y/N collapsed into his arms and looked up at him with a crooked smile, “Plleased to meeetcha!” Even blackout drunk, he thought she looked radiant.
“Come on, Y/N, we’re going home, okay?” He tries to lead her towards the door, but she messily snatched her hand away.
“‘M nOT going home with a sTRANGER!”
People started glancing over at him, and he began to panic; the last thing he needed was to get arrested while on his obligatory best friend wellness check, “Hey, hey, hey! It’s me okay, it’s Dewey.” Her face remained blank, she knew nothing but booze. “Dewdrop? Y/N, I promise I’m not kidnapping you, I’m just gonna put you to bed."
The word ‘bed’ seemed to help Y/N register what was happening, and she threw her arms up in triumph. “M geTIN LAID!” she cheered, which earned her confused looks from anyone within a seven foot radius. Maybe she didn’t register what was happening after all. Either way, it was enough to make her go with him willingly.
If anyone else had been working that night there is no way in hell Dewey would’ve been able to leave with her in that state, but their favorite bartender, Kara, was on and she knew that the pair were best buds. Dewey locked eyes with her to confirm that he was taking Y/N home. Kara just shook her head, shouted “good luck!” over the bar, and turned back to the customer she’d been talking to.
Dewey helped Y/N throw an arm around him so they could walk to his car, but they only made it about twenty feet before it became painfully clear that she couldn’t make it that far. He scooped her up and walked outside; she, all the while, was babbling about something Dewey couldn’t decipher. Her speech was so slurred at this point he wasn’t even sure there were actual words coming out of her mouth.
He gently laid her in the backseat and buckled her in as best he could. She’d started nodding off at this point, which was probably for the best. It worried him slightly because he wouldn’t be able to check if she was breathing for the whole ride home, but he laid her on her side and hoped that would be enough.
It was only a short ride to his apartment and, in that time, all he could do was pray she didn’t vomit until they made it inside. He lived on the third floor and knew there was no way in hell Y/N was making it up the stairs, even with help, so he had no choice but to carry her again. It was difficult to maneuver the narrow hallway and, while she didn’t feel all that heavy to him, he’d definitely gotten his workout for the next month out of the way.
He stumbled through the door, almost dropping Y/N in the process. He quickly got her upright, and before either of them had time to register what was happening, she’d vomited all over her dress and the floor.
Fuck. Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. Dewey really wanted to keep her in her clothes; they were best friends and she’d seen him in his underwear loads of times but this was different. Dewey gently sat her down on the ground before running into his room to rummage through his drawers and find a pair of pajama pants and an old shirt.
When he made it back to the kitchen, Y/N was passed out on the floor, and she’d thrown up again from the looks of it. He closed his eyes, let out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding, and made his way over to her. Once he was sure she was still breathing, he tried to slip the dress off as gently as possible. It wasn’t too difficult to do, and once it was entirely off he was grateful she chose to wear that leather dress that always made his heart stop; as disgusting as it sounded, her vomit wasn’t able to seep through the fabric so her bra and panties remained clean. He felt much better about helping her change now, and it was only a matter of time before she donned Dewey’s slightly too big clothes.
He cleaned the mess, ran over her face with a wet rag to get any remaining vomit off, and sat on the floor with her for a moment to gather his thoughts. She looked so peaceful. He ran a hand through her hair and smiled to himself.
Dewey had loved her for a while, and he’d always wanted to tell her how he felt, but things just weren’t that simple. What they had going was good, he couldn’t let his feelings get in the way. He’d resorted to pining from afar and supporting her romantic endeavors endlessly, no matter how much it hurt.
“Nngh…” she mumbled a bit in her sleep, before her eyes slowly opened. “Don’t feel good. Doooooo not.”
“Are you gonna be sick again?”
    “Mmmmm…. I dunno.”
'I dunno' was not a good enough answer for Dewey to consciously let her sleep in his bed. Even with a bucket next to her, there was no guarantee her aim would be spot on, and he didn’t want to take the chance. Cleaning your best friend's vomit off tile flooring was one thing, but cleaning a vomit soaked carpet was another thing; even Dewey Finn has limits.
He helped lead her to the bathroom and sat her next to the toilet, silently thanking whatever deity had given him the motivation to clean his bathroom that afternoon. Upon sitting down again, she immediately vomited, and all Dewey could do was sit behind her, hold her hair, and wish he could make her feel better.
After about an hour she’d finally stopped being sick, and an hour after that it was almost 08:00 and he could feel drowsiness overtaking him. She’d been asleep on his chest for quite some time and he hated moving her because he knew he’d never get this opportunity again. He bunched up a clean towel and put it on the floor for her to use as a pillow before leaving the bathroom. In an ideal world, he would’ve stayed with her but his bathroom room was far too small for that.
Then again, in an ideal world they’d be together.
He laid in bed for about ten minutes before he decided he’d feel better if he was closer to her in case she needed anything. He took a pillow and blanket, and laid himself down on the floor right outside the bathroom door and let the sound of Y/N's soft snoring lull him to sleep.
When Y/N woke up, her eyes were practically glued together with a layer of crust and makeup from the night before. Her head was pounding, and the first thing she did once her eyes were fully open is stick her head right back in the toilet and vomit. Once she's convinced there’s nothing more to puke up she disregarded any logic or sense of cleanliness and pressed her head against the cool toilet seat. It’s only then that the fog clears— just slightly, but enough for her to register where she is. She recognized the unusual, mismatched tiling on the floor to be Dewey’s, but had absolutely no idea how she ended up on the floor of his bathroom. He wasn’t even at the Roadhouse last night.
She wracks her brain for what could have possibly happened the night before but her mind is entirely blank. She remembered leaving her apartment, taking two shots, and then the rest of the night is a blur. How did she get to Dewey’s place? Did Stella drop her off? She noticed her phone sitting on the counter and shakily reached for it, hoping it could give her some answers. It was 14:37, and the only notification she had was an unanswered text from Stella, who asked where the hell she went last night. Evidently, she hadn't dropped Y/N off at Dewey's place. She quickly responded with “i’m fine, lyk later. puking” before checking her conversation with Dewey.
She couldn’t decipher a single text message she sent him, and from the looks of it, he’d been in the same boat. All she was able to gather is that she trying to reach Brianna; it wasn’t until she reached the jumbled message reading "il ove dwey som mocuh” that she realized what she’d done. This brought on a whole new wave of nausea and she quickly found herself, again, retching into the toilet.
She decided then and there she needed to leave as soon as she could. She was still a bit drunk so driving was definitely out of the question (she didn’t even know where the hell her car was), but she didn’t live too far and assuming she could stand up she just might be able to walk back home without Dewey ever knowing. She’d leave him a note. Using the edge of the bathtub for support, she shakily stood up. It took a while, and the nausea came back and slapped her in the face as soon as she did, but she remained standing without vomiting for a few moments. Y/N decided it would be okay to try to leave. She made a break for it and opened the door as carefully as she could hoping that Dewey wouldn’t hear it when all of a sudden-
    “Ow!”
Y/N froze. Looking down from the crack in the door, she could see the top of Dewey’s head— he had been right outside the door all night. If her situation hadn’t been such shit, she’d have found it endearing, but right now all she was worried about was their inevitable confrontation and the potential concussion she just gave him. She slammed the door shut.
“Uh, I’m out of the way now if you wanna come out...” She wanted nothing more than to remain hidden in the bathroom but he knew she was awake, and there was nothing to do now but go out and face him.
Once the door was open, she finally got a good look at him. His hair is sticking out in more directions than she can count and the bags under his eyes are dark. Y/N can only imagine what he went through last night trying to get her here. He was wearing his favorite AC/DC shirt and sweats, which clued her into the fact that she wasn't wearing the dress you left home in last night. She fiddled with the fabric at the hem of the shirt before looking up at him “Dewey, did we-?”
She didn’t want to imply anything, but she had no other logical explanation for where her clothes could have gone. Her voice sounds gravelly and her throat feels like sandpaper but that’s something he’ll just have to get past.
Dewey's eyes widened in panic, and he ran a hand through his hair “No, no! God, no!” He nodded towards a plastic grocery bag tied up by the door, “You didn’t even know who I was when I picked you up, I would never… I was just gonna let you sleep it off in my bed but when we got here you threw up all over yourself. I-I didn’t see anything, I promise. I just couldn’t let you sit in your own puke all night… sorry.”
“No, oh my God, Dewey, don’t apologize!” Y/N felt awful, she must have put him through hell last night. Sure, he was her best friend, but that went far beyond what she’d ever have expected him to do for her, “I’m so sorry you were stuck dealing with me last night, you can literally pick the movie for every movie night we have ever again. I’ll help you clean up once my headache dies down a little.”
He smiled a little bit, “There’s nothing to clean up, it’s okay. You should eat.”
    “I’m not hungry.”
“I know, but you should still eat,” he made his way towards the fridge and took out a carton of orange juice, “You can have some of this and I’ll make you toast. I’ll make you more food if you’re hungry later but for now we should see if you can even keep that down.”
    “Yeah,” she mumbled. “Thanks.”
As he’s getting the glasses for their orange juice, she felt her panic start to rise. She knew they needed to talk about the text, but he hadn’t brought it up.
The silence is deafening, and it all but consumes Y/N as she watches the orange juice fill the glass, and before she knows it, there’s toast in front of her. She knew she wouldn’t be able to even consider eating without vomiting until she got this over with. “ImsorryIdrunktextedyou.”
“’s okay,” he mumbled between bites of toast, “You could barely function as a human being, I didn’t really take anything you said to heart. I’m not entirely convinced you knew who I was. ‘M just glad you’re okay.” Dewey smiles up at her, eyes twinkling, and her heart melts.
    “Dewey, I-”
“Y/N, I’m not kidding. Don’t beat yourself up about it. You’re my best friend, I promise I didn’t take any of it seriously.” Dewey could all but hear his heart shatter, and he just prayed she couldn’t hear it too.
She bit her lip. Jesus fuck, she just wanted him to understand without having to say it out loud. “I um… I know you don’t think I knew what I was saying and uh... for the most part I didn’t, but that text, um, t-the text was um. I feel like that when I’m sober too.”
Y/N struggled getting her words out, and although she knew Dewey was trying his hardest to keep his reaction hidden, his nostrils flared. He never notices he’s doing it but she always did— it's a nervous tick of his. Normally it’s really cute, but right now it just made her want to curl up in a ball and never face him again. "N-Nothing has to change, it’s just… I don’t know. Fuck!”
With a loud groan, her head was in her hands, blocking out the light (and Dewey), “I just. Don’t want to lose you as a friend.”
    No response.
“D-Dewey? Are you gonna say something?”
“I-” he faltered and she prepared herself for the worst. “How long have you felt this way?”
    “What?”
“Howlonghaveyoubeeninlovewithme?”
“O-Oh, uh… a year. M-Maybe longer.” Y/N finally looked up at him and he was just staring at her, mouth slightly agape and eyes wide. She scooted herself away from the counter and mumbles a quick “thanks for taking care of me last night” before making her second break for the door.
She only got halfway through the kitchen before she was whipped around and found herself in Dewey’s arms. Shit. He was practically crushing her, and she genuinely couldn't tell if everything felt more intense because she was so hungover or if he was really using that much force. It was probably a bit of both.
“I love you too,” he mumbled into her hair.
    Wait. What?
“Fuck, Y/N, I’ve loved you for so long and I thought I didn’t stand a chance. And then I got that text and I just— Jesus, when I got to the Roadhouse and saw how trashed you were I didn’t think there was any way you could’ve known what you were saying but… you mean it?”
She inhaled deeply, forehead still pressed into his chest, “Of course I do, you doofus. How could I not?”
He squeezed her just a little bit tighter before placing the gentlest of kisses on the top of her head, “I’m really glad you got drunk last night.”
She laughed quietly, a short huff of air out of her nose that warmed Dewey’s chest through his shirt, “Me too."

It was true what people said about how dramatic high school seemed; your tumultuous relationship with Wanda was evidence of that. Anything and everything that happened to you two felt like it was the be-all and end-all of your lives. Years down the line, you would shake your head at how much heartbreak you went through, all because of poor communication. Your high school experiences definitely shaped who you had become, but you still wished you would’ve fought for yourself a little harder back then.
At least, you no longer were the quiet artist your peers knew. Perhaps moving to the West coast did you some good after all. It wasn’t easy moving across the country, but it felt necessary. You were never going to stay in Westview forever, and New York City just reminded you too much of high school, no matter how big it was. That wasn’t to say that Los Angeles didn’t have its pitfalls, the incredibly expensive houses being one of them. You weren’t really looking forward to paying off your mortgage on top of your college debt (although alleviated a bit by the scholarships you’d gotten over the years). The one good thing out of this situation was that you’d get to have your forever home with the love of your life. All that was left was actually finding it.
You fiddled nervously with the ring on your middle finger as you took one last glance at yourself in the mirror. “You look lovely, honey,” your mother cooed from the doorway of your childhood bedroom.
“You’re just saying that because you’re my mom,” you said.
Your mother simply shook her head in disagreement. “Don’t forget to drop by the Proctors’ bakery for your cake-tasting appointment.” You hummed in response, rearranging your loose white blouse under your mustard yellow blazer. “Two buttons,” your mother suddenly said.
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
“Leave two buttons undone. You and your fiancée will thank me later.”
“Oh my god, mom, I’m gonna leave now,” you said, ignoring your laughing mother as you made your way down the stairs. You bid goodbye to your parents quickly before leaving the house.

You smiled down at your phone, turning it off to get ready to pull your rental car out of your parents’ driveway. Driving down the street, you couldn’t help but glance at the Maximoffs’ house, a nostalgic feeling bubbling up at the sight.
A loud ringtone broke you out of your thoughts. You carefully reached for you phone in one of the cupholders and trying to accept the call while keeping your eyes on the road. “Hello?” you said as soon as you accepted the call and put it on speakerphone.
“Where are you?” Yelena’s angry voice rang through.
“I’ll be there soon,” you said, wincing when you noticed that you were now going to be at least 30 minutes late if traffic wasn’t going to be a total asshole tonight.
“I’d believe you if you didn’t have your location on, pchelka. You aren’t even in the right state right now!”
“I’m sorry! I got caught up. I swear I’ll try to be there as soon as possible.”
“The missus isn’t even with you and she manages to distract you,” Yelena scoffed, but you couldn’t help grinning at the thought that soon, you’d be married to the woman of your dreams.
“You love her,” you retorted.
“Yeah yeah, whatever, she grew on me. Now, get your ass over here. I can’t stand these people. All they’re talking about is how they were the shit in high school.”
“Why are you there when you clearly don’t want to be?”
“Free food, duh. Now, hurry up!”
“I will. I will,” you said, shaking your head in amusement even though she couldn’t see you.
True to your word, you made it to your old high school less than an hour later and found Yelena leaning against a tall table near the group that had formed around Vision.
“Why would you subject yourself to this torture?” you snickered as you successfully managed to sneak up from behind her and spook her. Yelena wasn’t nearly as amused and just smacked you on the arm with the back of her hand.
“They took my goddamn table,” she grumbled.
“It has your name on it?”
“I had it first. It’s the closest to the bar,” she explained, slightly glaring at the group who didn’t spare her a second look.
“Come on, little miss grumpy,” you snorted, not bothering trying to tug the woman away since there was no way her stubborn ass was going to move now. You had to give it to the reunion committee. They did an excellent at redecorating the gymnasium to not make it look… well, like a high school gymnasium.
“I can’t believe you left me here alone, all of you!” Yelena exclaimed. In defence of Makkari and Druig, you didn’t think they exactly planned on timing the birth of their first child to match the night of the reunion, but you didn’t say anything as not enrage the other woman even more. “I had to listen to Vision talk to his groupies about his upcoming projects for Stark Industries’ line of smart home gadgets.”
“Is that even legal? Shouldn’t those be like super under wraps or something?”
“I bet you it’s a marketing scheme, making it seem like he’s revealing some deep secret when really, they’re relying on the crowd to spread the word to others,” Yelena shrugged, downing her shot of vodka.
“Oh Pietro!” you suddenly heard Vision shout as he waved at him to come over. You and Yelena followed Vision’s line of sight to see Pietro slowly making his way to the younger Stark with a tight smile. As he made his way to their table, he greeted you and Yelena with a subtle head nod, which you both returned before you continued your conversation.
The tables were close enough for you to hear Vision and the rest of the group congratulate Pietro on winning a silver medal at the previous Olympics, as well as Pietro thanking them and answering any questions they had about what else he’d been up to. To outsiders, it would look like old friends catching up, but you distinctly remember the fallout the Maximoff twins had with the popular kids. You started to tune out the group’s questions to solely focus on your conversation with Yelena until you heard Peter Quill ask about his sister.
“She’s been good too,” Pietro answered easily. “She’s still doing her residency in pediatrics and she loves it. I think she had to finish up something urgent at work today, so that’s why she’s late.”
As if on cue, the doors to the gymnasium opened once more to reveal a very late Wanda dressed in a plum colored, tight fitting evening gown with a cowl neck. Maybe you were biased, but it definitely felt like time had stopped as you watched her standing by the entrance in search for one particular person. She was even more beautiful than she was in high school and you couldn’t help your thumping heart as you kept your eyes on her while she grinned when she finally found the person she was looking for.
Wanda didn’t bother with niceties like her brother did. She made her way straight to you, gently caressing your cheek before pressing her lips against yours. “Told you, I’d see you soon, sunshine,” she murmured, staring lovingly into your eyes.
“Not soon enough,” you said quietly. “You look gorgeous in that dress, by the way. I can’t wait to take off you.”
It was apparently not quietly enough because that prompted Yelena to cough and reply, “One, ew. Two, I should have you know that I’m very offended by that. If you don’t appreciate my presence, I have no problem making myself scarce.” At the same time you told her you didn’t mind that, Wanda protested and told her to stay. “I’m gonna remember this betrayal,” she said, playfully narrowing her eyes at you.
“I will not be blamed for wanting to spend some alone time with my fiancée,” you asserted with a shrug, snaking one arm around Wanda’s waist to rest your hand on her hip.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. We have the rest of our lives together,” Wanda cooed and placed a gentle kiss against your cheek.
“Are these two making you feel like a thirdwheel again?” Pietro asked Yelena after leaving Vision’s table to stay at yours.
“Always,” Yelena groaned, earning herself a round of laughter from all three of you.
You’d been quite apprehensive about this night. While you had gained a lot of confidence since your high school days and were practically an entirely different person, you weren’t exactly ecstatic to go back to the place your insecurities had stemmed from. Wanda was the one who convinced to give it a shot.
She didn’t pressure you into going, but she did tell you that it’d be a nice way to show your younger self that you’d grown. “Plus, I’d get to show off my incredibly hot fiancée to everyone,” she had added, only somewhat jokingly.
The night wasn’t nearly as bad as you’d imagined it would be. It was pretty boring and uneventful, but Wanda was right, if younger you could see you know, she would be so proud of you for getting this far.
“So,” you drawled, “when can we leave?”
“I just got here. I haven’t even gotten to show you off yet,” Wanda whined. Seeing you pout, she sighed. “Fine, we can leave soon, but I’m parading you around before we head to your parents’.”
You let out a small chuckle and relented, looping your arm into hers as she started to drag you around the gymnasium to quickly say hi to old classmate before leaving the reunion. Yelena trailed behind, grumbling about how she was going to get payback on Kate for bailing last minute and not attending her reunion next year.
“Your girlfriend is a busy CEO, Lena, give her a break,” you said and laughed when Yelena’s pout transformed into a grin as she showed you a text from Kate saying that she would try to make it up to her with cuddles. You said goodbye to your best friend and got into your car, opening the door for Wanda to get into the passenger seat.
“You think your parents are asleep yet?” Wanda asked, rearranging her hair so that laid over her seatbelt while you put the keys in the ignition.
“Probably not,” you responded and you could tell Wanda was smirking without even looking at her. “You better actually be quiet this time. I don’t want a repeat of last Christmas.”
“I was quiet! It’s not my fault there was a freaking spider that showed up out of nowhere and landed on the bedside table.”
“I can barely look my dad in the eye now,” you groaned. “How awkward was it when he went to pick you up from the airport earlier?”
“It wasn’t that bad,” Wanda shrugged. “And you know what, I would say it’s pretty impressive that that was the first time they caught us in bed.”
“I would’ve preferred it if they had never caught me under you instead.”
“Aw, is my baby shy about being a bottom?” Wanda teased. You snapped your head in her direction, watching her with an incredulous look.
“You’re gonna regret saying that,” you said and redirected your eyes to the road.
“I don’t think I will,” she replied. She leaned towards you to kiss your cheek and from the corner of your eye, you saw her lean back against her seat while she crossed her legs.
You smiled to yourself thinking of how far you two had gotten. It had taken years for Wanda to grow into herself and stop caring so much about what people said about her, and for you to learn how to stand your ground and not let others walk over. After all this time, you’d finally gotten to this place where both of you were ready to enter a steady and serious relationship together. It wasn’t an easy journey and even now, you had your difficult days, but you were both so happy to have each other again, at last.
