He was down the ladder with practised speed and running for the place he’d last seen Piett. There were too many bodies, flung about as though by the hand of a tempermental giant.

Veers swallowed the bile as he breathed in the powerful scent of ozone and copper and raw meat.

Please, please, please…

He forced himself not to look at broken bodies far too small to be in the midst of a conflict like this. He tuned out cries and shrieks of agony and loss.

Because he’d just spotted a dust covered Imperial boot—-a boot that moved, thank the Force .

The General dropped to his knees and began to heave at the debris covering his friend. Moments later, Havell joined him, blood trickling from a gash in his cheek and more relief coursed through Veers.

With the big Sergeant’s brawn added to the effort, they freed Piett in no time.

He was wheezing and struggling for breath not only because he’d been flung under the rubble, but also because the back of his cuirass was dented impressively.

“Get a medic over here!” Veers ordered. “Piett. Firmus . Where are you hurt?”

Anyone else happy that feyre couldn’t fly perfectly right away?

I remember my first time reading ACOTAR, I was shocked and so happy to see that Feyre struggled with flying. I always hated watching shows and this character who just got wings suddenly knows how to fly perfectly.

I love watching her struggle, and even in the end she could barely fly. I love that it felt realistic while also still being a fantasy.

Just a quick fic I wrote, hope you enjoy ❤️

TW: light signs of depression

Feyre has a hard day and Cassian keeps her company

Feyre sat on the roof of the House of Wind hidden in a corner, all by herself. She didn't know why she had the sudden urge to just hide and be alone. Everything was fine, she didn't have any reason to feel so...empty. It seemed like this was one of the hard days and today it wins. Feyre barely got out of bed, even eating was exhausting. Everything was so exhausting and she was just so, so tired. Feyre sighed and wrapped her arms around her legs. She overlooked the city before her. Velaris. Her home. It was beautiful. The setting sun washed the City in hues of oranges and pinks. On any other day Feyre would have grabbed a canvas, paints and her brushes and would have painted until her fingers hurt but today she couldn't. She didn't have the energy. On top of that Feyre had the feeling that it wouldn't turn out as bright and cheery as she wanted, it would probably turn into something dark and twisty.

Feyre didn't look up when she heard footsteps. She didn't have to look up to know who was approaching her right now, she knows his footsteps.

"I knew I saw you arriving earlier." Cassian broke the silence, stopping a few feet away.

"Damn it, I wanted to be sneaky." Feyre replied.

Cassian snickered, pointing beside Feyre. "May I?"

Feyre nodded. Cassian took a seat beside her, watching the bustling city underneath them. "I live here for over 500 years and the beauty of this city still takes my breath away."

Feyre smiled. He was right. Sometimes Feyre walked through the city just to admire the beauty of it.

Cassian turned to her. "Are you okay?"

Feyre nodded again.

"Bad day?" he asked.

"Nothing happened." Feyre replied, brushing some dirt off her pants.

Cassian nodded, understanding lit his eyes. They sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes until he said "It's hard. I know it's hard, trust me. There will always be hard days and they will come at the most unexpected times. You think everything is fine and suddenly you're too tired to get out of bed. I promise you, Feyre, it will get better. Even if there are hard days there are a lot more good days." he smiled at her. "And luckily for you, you have the best companions for both of these days. I mean, you already have the best companion beside you but the others are alright too, I guess."

Feyre giggled and pushed him softly. He laughed.

She took his hand and laid her head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of her head.

"Thank you, Cass." she whispered.

"You're welcome, Fey." he replied. "I am always here if you need to talk. Or if you just need someone to sit with you in silence."

I ranked these tropes as a writer, so while these preferences may also influence fics I prefer to read, it doesn't necessarily mean I will never read tropes I don't write. :)

I would like to give honorable mention to two tropes (are they tropes?) I wish were included because I LOVE them so much:

BrOTP

Caught in the rain (aka Wet Blorbo)

What might make me different from other fic writers (as far as I've seen in my orbit), is that Family, Platonic, and Married Relationships are especially dear to my heart. I'm a mom, a wife, and I grew up in a large family, so that carries into my stories. The only reason I haven't written more of them is because I've been too busy chasing what is "popular".

I am definitely not the writer to go to for Smut, AUs, or things that stray too far out of Tolkien canon. It's just not in my wheelhouse. (I don't even really know what ABO or Bang or Die means, haha.)

BACKSTORY

Tav´ana was born to a Drow mother and a half-drow father.

Her mother used to be a Priestess of Lolth before falling in love with her father during a raid. (He saved her life) She turned to Eilistraee for a while, before succumbing to her old habits and returning to Lolth. Lying to Lolth, stating she had spied on Eilistraee´s fellowship, she gave away information securing her position in Menzoberranzan. Tav´ana survived an attack on her life lead by her mother, before being taken by Ilithid.

Tav´ana´s father has started resenting his daughter, due to her physical likeness to her mother and their shared straight-forwardness. Feeling inferior to her - just like he did to her mother - he mistreated her, leading to her deepening devotion to Eilistraee.

Eventually she became a Dark Lady (Priestess of Eilistraee) taking care of devotee´s and ensuring the spread of beauty and freedom.

Her brother looks down upon her devotion, not understanding how she can call her devotion freedom. Knowing that he could end up on The Wall of Faithless upon his death, should he not change his disposition, she tries to bring him to faith. (Succeeding after the destruction of the Absolute.)

Sexuality Headcanon: this is...difficult. because of the Horrors. but in a world where he exists without his Sister in the background, i think he'd be pansexual. while his Love Hotel is...augh, it does give us some insight about him, and it seems like he's fully in control of his mind there. he at least likes guys sexually imo. further, other non-horrific interactions with Shuichi feel quite flirtatious...so he's a boy-liker for sure. at the same time, he did, uh, have a thing with his own Sister. so women are not off the table either, it seems? just hopefully...you know...ones he's not related to. all in all, i don't think Gender in a partner matters to him. humans is humans

Gender Headcanon: again, hard to know because of the Horrors. but again, without Sister Korkette's influence, i still think he'd be the slightly genderqueer goth king we all stan. you'd never really know his gender identity, but he could tell you everything about Alternate Genders around the world

A ship I have with said character: i kind-of think Shuichi x Korekiyo is cute. they both seem quite taken in by each other in the FTs

A BROTP I have with said character: if you haven't played UTDP or Summer Camp you are missing out on the absolutely adorable subtlety of the friendship he has with Syojack. it is Hilarious. she doesn't think he's cute and he doesn't think she'd be a good friend for his sister and they have a Disgusting Mutual Respect. he calls her "little lady" once. bless

A NOTP I have with said character: i don't think this needs to be said. i think we all know the NOTP

A random headcanon: even in a world without Sister Korkette he'd have a genuinely maternal/paternal side. i get the Vibe that he's quite nonjudgemental and sincerely loves humans. just...the Horrors. as has been previously stated

General Opinion over said character: 🧵/10 korkmanity is beautiful
