"Happy Valentine's Day, Clark," said the reader, coming over and hugging him tenderly. "I'm really happy to be here with you."
Clark returned the hug with affection. "Happy Valentine's Day to you too," he replied, looking the reader in the eye. "I look forward to this special day with you. What do you have planned?"
The reader smiled, holding a small gift in his hands. "I prepared something special for us. Here's your gift."
Clark opened the present with enthusiasm, revealing a book he had always wanted to read. "Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Thank you, my love. I love that you are always attentive to my wishes."
The reader returned the smile, feeling happy for making Clark happy. "You deserve the best, Clark. Now, let's enjoy the day together."
As they walked along the shore of the lake, Clark and the reader talked about their feelings, their dreams and shared laughter and moments of intimacy. The connection between them was strong, and every word exchanged was filled with love and admiration.
Finding a quiet spot, Clark spread a blanket on the ground and revealed a lovingly prepared picnic. They sat together and enjoyed their food, enjoying each other's company and the beautiful view of the lake.
"This is an unforgettable Valentine's Day," Clark said, gratitude in his voice. "I'm happy to have you in my life. You've brought so much joy and love to me."
The reader held Clark's hand, looking at him tenderly. "And I am grateful every day to have found someone as special as you. You are my strength, my support and my inspiration."

Clark smiled and caressed the reader's face tenderly. "I promise to always be by your side, to protect, support and love you unconditionally. You are the most important person to me, and my biggest wish is to make you happy."
As the night progressed, they got up from the bench and started walking back to where they started their meeting. The way back was lit by soft lights, creating a romantic atmosphere.

I just wanna write things about super rich dudes/people falling for someone who grew up and lives super poorly and everyone in his friend group says they are gold digging etc but in reality they won't spend a dime of his money and gets mad when he buys them gifts or anything like that. Then maybe a crazy ex or a jealous assistant tries to make it seem that they are stealing from him or something.

Delusional | Lex Luthor x Fem!OC [1-Shot]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Lex Luthor x Rose Holloway Song Inspo: Delusional by Simon Curtis Word Count: 2,433 Summary: desperate to get out under her tyrannic mother's corporative thumb, executive secretary Rose Holloway submits an application for an opening at LexCorp. Much to her surprise, she is asked to interview the next week. The pay is pretty good, and this Lex guy couldn't be as awful as her mother. What could go wrong? Warnings: mild mentions of parental abuse Masterlist: see fandoms (pc-friendly)
Last thing I remember from my dream was having to tell my angry mother the news about my job. That was enough to get me awake. I scrambled around in my covers and opened my eyes, squirting as the light from the curtains hit my face. At first, I just closed my eyes to block them from the sunlight. But then I realized it was morning, and I forgot to set my alarm last night! I was going to be late on the first day!
I pushed my covers off my body and climbed out of bed, ignoring my slippers that awaited my feet. I looked at my alarm clock, and, as if taunting me, it read 12:21 PM. I grabbed my already ready work attire and took a quick shower. I put on my clothes, did my hair, applied some makeup (not too much, because I don't wanna look as desperate as I was), and brushed my teeth. Into my mall closet I went, searching for some shoes to go with my outfit.
I did my best to fix myself a nutritious breakfast. Nutty bars seemed like the way to go, but they get stuck in my teeth. The last thing I wanted was to be humiliated on my first day - I hadn't felt like that since high school. I managed to make due with a glass of orange juice; just when I put the cold glass to my mouth, a car honked outside. I groaned to myself, knowing who it was, "Mom."
Rushing out the house, I barely remembered to lock the door. I hadn't told my mom about my application for LexCorp, so I knew she was gonna drive to her building instead. That meant I had to somehow sneak past her and make it to LexCorp in time. It's not that far... I hope.
I swung my business bag around my shoulder and got to the car. Only it wasn't my mom's car. It was... nicer and more modern. The windows were tented so I had no idea who was inside. I didn't know what to do, so I sorta stepped back. The window suddenly rolled down, revealing a face I had known for my whole life.
"Mary!" I squealed with delight, and relief.
"Get in." She ordered. "Or you're gonna be late." I had told her about my application. Well, I told her not to tell our mom about the application. "I can't thank you enough, Mare Bear." I said as I hopped into the nice vehicle. Mary looked at me as she took the wheel.
"You can start by not calling me Mare Bear, Nose." I had to smile at that. She and I call each other cute names sometimes. She calls me nose because, apart from my lips, my nose is my most dominant feature.
"Hang on, little sister." She said, pulling out of my driveway. "LexCorp, here we come."
(Time Skip - At LexCorp Parking)
Butterflies fluttered in my thin stomach as we approached my future workplace. It was so weird; seeing it on the computer was one thing, but being there was another. The building looked so full of purity, energy, and technology. I started to wonder if I could really help improve it. I mean, I wasn't anything more than a secretary of a fashion magazine editor. Also, I had no idea if they'd even accept me. I knew that my mom would hire me because she knew me, but this Lex Luthor probably didn't even know I existed until last week.
"Well, here we are. LexCorp Industries." Mary gave an introduction. I released the sigh I'd been holding in since we pulled up. "Aren't you going in, or...?"
"What if I'm not good enough, Mary?" I blurted out my worry. Mary gave me an eye roll and held my shoulder. "Look. These guys may have worked here longer than you but that doesn't make them better. For all you know, by this time tomorrow you could be doing all their jobs. Besides, any treatment you get is better than mom's." She had such a good point. It was either this or back to being paid to be yelled at by your mom.
"Okay," I finally said, "I'll-I'll do it." She gave me a nod, and I nodded in returned. We leaned in for a hug, and she wished me luck one last time. I bet was gonna need it. I can't focus when I'm nervous, and when I can't focus I screw things up. But there was no way I was spending another day at that fashion hell. So I picked my bag up and got out of the car.
Mary waved at me as she drove off. I waited until she was out of sight, and slowly spun around to face the building again. It looked so massive and complex. This may sound weird, but it kind of terrified me. I shook if out though, and marched toward it with a high head.
Inside was not much different than the outside. People were scattered everywhere, and they all looked worthy of being there. One lady walked past me wearing all black with the coolest haircut. I touched my rough, brown hair to find it a plain straight. I never thought I'd say this but I wish I had a rubber band right about now. The place wasn't crowded, but it was far from being empty.
I looked around for any clue to where Lex's office was. I had an interview with him in ten minutes and I couldn't even find him. I decided to ask one of the employees. I walked further into the work hall until I saw something out of the ordinary. There, in the middle of the room, about six men were playing basketball. I tried to process an excuse for what I was seeing. 'Maybe they're testing their body maneuvers for a video game?' was all I could think of.
Basketball or not, they didn't look as intimidating as everyone else. So I walked up to the court and tapped on the shoulder of closest one, who appeared to be in the middle of shooting.
I cleared my throat.
"Excuse me." He turned and smiled at me. He had strawberry-blonde locks that curled by his jawline. His eyes were blue and playful, and reminded me of two blue balls. He was shorter than me, but only by about an inch. "Sorry to interrupt your game, but I was wondering if you knew where Lex Luthor's office is." He gave me and odd smile.
"Hm. You must my new secretary. How are you? Lex Luthor. Welcome to my little LexCorp." The man held out his hand to me. I looked at it, and, ever so hesitantly, shook it.
Raising an eyebrow, I asked. "You're Lex Luthor?" He odd smile turned into a cheeky one as he giggled.
"Indeed I am. Alexander Luthor Jr., in your presence." He said, slight bowing his head. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't confused. He looked so young, way too young to be running a business. "I'm sorry, I'm confused. You look so..."
"Young? Well..." he turned away for a second to throw the through the hoop. "Age is just a number, correct? And there are infinite numbers to compare to mine, so there's no use in trying to be any other."
I just looked from him to the net and swallowed. "I guess that sounds right."
"Great! Hm. Yes, yes. You are here for the job." He said, eyes darting down in remembrance. "Executive secretary if I recall." Before I knew it he had his hand on my shoulder blade, and we began walking down the hall to I-have-no-idea-where. But I simply nodded and played along.
"Um, yeah. I used to work as one at my old job."
"Old job, mm? Might I ask where?" I didn't bother looking at him to answer, I just kept my head forward. And judging by my sight, we were headed for an escalator. "Nowhere special. Just a stupid fashion magazine corporation." I scratched my forehead as we boarded the escalator. I let Lex go first, being as though I had no idea where to go beyond the escalator.  The rising staircase made my body feel like it was lifting by itself.
"I see," Lex said. "That explains your chose of clothing décor. Anyway, tell me- Wait! Silly me. I forgot to request your name." He addressed, stepping off his step and placing his foot on the smooth, white tile floor. I copied his movement and we returned to our original pace.
The hallway was all white, and filled with white doors. Any one of those could be mine. All I had to do was get an interview with Lex. First, we had to get to his office.
"My name's Rose. Rose Lee Holloway." I offered a kind smile, one which was returned.
"Rose. Hm." His eyes darted up in thought. "The Latin origin of rose, a flower name from Rosa." He looked back at me. "Did you know the Normans brought Latin to Britain in the 11th century?"
I shook my head. Lex just put his hands in his pockets and stared ahead. "Are you interested in alien studies and research?"
"Um, no. Only what I read on the news about Superman. But do find the fact that one is living here funny."
This made Lex chuckle. "How do you mean?"
"I mean, an alien protecting a species that's not his own just makes us look inferior. Why should we rely on a humanoid destructor rather than weapons of defense? It just sounds dumb."
Lex snapped his finger and pointed at me. "Exactly, Rosie. May I call you Rosie?" 'If I get this job he can call me anything he wants.' I thought.
But I simply replied, "If you want."
We reached the end of the hallway, where, to our right, sat a giant silver door.
"Follow me." Lex led us down the pathway and opened the giant door for me. "In you go." I slipped past him and almost tripped when I saw Lex's office. That place was like two master bedrooms in one giant space. There were chairs in there I've never seen in my life! And that's saying something since my mom used redecorated our living room almost every year.
I was so in shock that I didn't even notice Lex walk past me to his desk chair. I strolled to the front of his desk and sat in small chair, where Lex was seated on the table. He grinned at me, making me even more nervous. We both knew what was about to happen.
"Humor me. What got you interested in this position?"
"I've had previous experience with executive assistance, such as memoing, filing, answering phone calls, and prepping schedules. I also dabble in digital art, so if you need any promo or posters, well, I'm your gal." I chuckled nervously, and he just stroked his chin. "Ahem. I admire what this company has done for the ecosystem repair in other countries. Between partnering with other green companies and philanthropy fundraisers, it- you have really great work." Then it got quiet. "...yeah."
Lex leaned forward, knuckling his silvery desk's edge, and looked into my soul. He studied every inch of my face, my eyes... my soul. It was like he was trying to read my mind. When he got his answer, he exhaled.
"Hm." His lips twitched. "Hm-mm, yes. You have the gaze of a woman on the run." Lex said softly, almost sorrowful, like a therapist. "A lioness, mm, trying to strike out of the pride, make it on her own. Tell me, dear Rosie, who-oh-who are you running from?"
My head drew back and I nearly gulped. Was this man actually telepathic? Either way, he seemed to have me figured out. There was no use in denying it further. If honesty got me a job, then honesty it'll be. I just wish it wasn't such a sore subject.
"My mother." My tongue suddenly tasted foul and acidic. "She's not a very nice mother. Or boss."
"Mommy issues," Lex gestured to me, "meet daddy issues," he gestured to himself, making us both chuckle weakly. I supposed it made sense, hurt child meets hurt child. I wondered to what extend his father hurt him, but put off the question as taboo for an interview.
"Anyhow," he leaned back and continued, "mind if I ask you some professional questions?" He asked, making a yuck face as the word 'professional'.
"Yes, go ahead." I straightened my posture.
"Alrighty. How did you like the building so far?" That was not the question I expected him to ask first, but it was his company. 'Get hired, Rose, get hired.' I cheered myself on.
"Ummm... It's very detailed and finely organized, Mr. Luthor. It's techy but also really chill. Just feels like a good environment people-wise." If my resume didn't cut it maybe sucking up to him would. But he just waved it off.
"Please, call me Lex. It's only fair since I'm calling you Rosie." He had a point. "But does it look like the kind of place you want to work at?"
I looked around the spacious, flawless, white room and sighed. Such a long way from that undersized, secretary desk my mom forced me in.
My pitiful eyes found Lex again. "Very much."
Out of nowhere, Lex suddenly clapped near my face. "Fantastic! Then congratulations, Ms. Rosie. You're hired!" I had to clear my ears to make sure I heard him right.
"Wait, what? I'm hired?" He just nodded like an excited child. "But what about the interview?" I asked, still not understanding his reasons behind hiring me. He bent from his spot on the table to open up a drawer beside his legs.
"That was the interview, my dear Rosie. It began from I first introduced myself." He then pulled something out of the drawer; a red cylinder candy, and offered it to me. "Jolly Rancher?" I gave a clearly puzzled look, raising my eyebrow. "It's cherry." He offered again.
With nothing to lose except my job there, I accepted.
"Okay." I smiled tightly.
But instead of handing it to me, Lex leaned in to put it in my mouth himself. For a second, I felt his cold, steel fingers brush on the tip of my lips before departing. Then he licked those fingers and smiled from ear to ear like nothing happened.
Being the kind person I am, I gave the smile back. He might have been a bit odd, but I had a feeling Lex was gonna grow on me.

Lex Luthor Angst Alphabet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A = Anger (what are they like when they’re angry?)
Scary. Lex can be terrifying when he’s angry. It’s never a good time to approach him when he’s pissed about something.
B = Break Up (if they had to, how would they break up with you?)
He’d make up a fight and end it all that way. He’d want you to be so mad at him that you’d never take him back.
C = Cry (how often do they cry? do they cry over little things?)
Lex doesn’t cry much, especially not in front of anyone. He’s certainly not one to cry over little things either.
D = Debt (how do they make it up to you when they’ve done something wrong?)
Mostly by buying you apology gifts. He doesn’t like to admit when he’s wrong, but the gifts are his way of doing so.
E = Entrapment (how would they react to you being kidnapped?)
Not well. He’d go in set on destroying everyone involved with your kidnapping and wouldn’t rest until you were safe and they were dead.
F = Fear (how badly do they fear losing you? do they fear for you somehow losing them?)
He greatly fears losing you. It’s rare for him to care for someone so much and to lose that would irreparably damage him.
G = Grief (if you were to die, how would they react?)
He’d immediately start figuring out a way to bring you back. And also get vengeance on whoever killed you if you were indeed murdered.
H = Health (How are they at taking care of themselves?)
Pretty good. Sometimes he overworks himself and it takes you to remind him that he’s only human and needs rest.
I = Insensitive (how do they act when they know they’ve said something that upset you?)
He’ll forget about it for a while, pretend it didn’t happen, but eventually he will find some way to fix his mistake.
J = Jerk (when can they tell you’re mad at them? do either of you resort to name calling?)
You resort to name calling, mainly because you know it won’t really bother Lex. He doesn’t, because he thinks it’s a childish way to release his anger.
K = Knife (how do they feel about hurting others? physically or emotionally?)
He’s totally fine with it. Way too fine with it, honestly. Lex can be pretty ruthless when he wants to be.
L = Liar (are they a good liar? how often do they lie to you?)
He’s a master at lying. He’ll lie to you on occasion, for whatever reason, but he’ll make more of an effort not to if he really cares for you.
M = Maudlin (how do you cheer them up when they’re feeling sad?)
Lex doesn’t really do sad. He does angry and apathetic. Still, he does like having you at his side whatever his mood.
N = Never (what would they do if they knew they could never be with you?)
He’d be pissed and more determined than ever to find a way that he could be with you. Doesn’t matter if it’s self destructive, he’d have to try.
O = Oath (what happens when you break a promise? how do they take it?)
It’s bad news when you break a promise to Lex. If the tables are turned and he breaks a promise to you, somehow it doesn’t seem to phase him.
P = Pressure (how do they handle stress? how do you help them relax?)
He handles stress fairly well, actually. It all bubbles out as rage against his enemies, so no harm done, technically. You can help him relax by distracting him with various forms of affection.
Q = Quiet (do they ever give you the silent treatment? how do they react when you give it to them?)
Lex will sometimes give you the silent treatment inadvertently when he gets lost in his work, but very rarely will it be deliberate. Lex probably wouldn’t even notice if you gave it to him unless he was wanting your attention at the time.
R = Rejection (how would they take it if you were to reject them?)
Lex would take it as a challenge. He’d make you want him. He didn’t care how he had to do it. He would not stand for a rejection.
S = Self Doubt (what are they insecure about?)
Lex isn’t insecure about much. Maybe the fact that he doesn’t have superpowers of his own, but other than that, he’s a pretty confident man.
T = Triangle (what would they do if they were caught in a love triangle with you? would they fight for you or give you up?)
He’d eliminate the competition. If you don’t have another choice, then you must obviously be with him. That’s how he sees it.
U = Unloved (what would you do to make sure they felt loved?)
Just stand by him through anything. Tell him you love him. That’s all he really needs to know you love him.
V = Vault (do they keep their emotions sealed tight, or do they let them out openly?)
His more vulnerable emotions he keeps bottled up, but the less vulnerable ones he lets out in the open pretty easily.
W = Wound (how do they react when you’ve been injured?)
With rage. He will get revenge on anyone who injured you.
X = X Lovers (what happens when they’re confronted with an ex of yours?)
Bit of bragging and making himself seem far superior to your ex, and then violence if the ex makes a nuisance of themself.
Y = Yell (how often do fights occur? how bad do they get?)
Fights aren’t often when Lex is truly devoted, but even so they can get rather heated.
Z = Zestless (what happens if you lose that initial spark with them?)
Lex will do anything to reignite it. And if he can’t, then he won’t be afraid to wipe some of your memory to keep the spark alive.

Thiere confused on why an ugly bald guy is taking them out but Luthor gets fed up and leaves the kid somewhere and they just vibe
Alright. Again, comedy is not my strong suit, but I will try. Also, a little digression, I hit 700 followers. Thanks everyone. Also, this will be under Batfamily
Summary: (Y/N) gets kidnapped by Lex Luthor. Lex gets more than he bargained for.
Warnings: Kidnapping, (Y/N) is supposed to be a menace, but author doesn't have a sense of humor... Author has tried.
Tumblr media
It all began on a rainy Monday. Everything was worse due to universal law of Monday being the worst days of the week. Bruce thought it would be a normal day. He dropped his son off at the kindergarten, gave him a kiss to the forehead and went to work.
If only Bruce knew that 3 hours later, (Y/N) would be kidnapped by Lex Luthor and a search for the unknown kidnapper would begin. Bruce also passed out when he got a call. The others left school to come back to the manor to help his father track their youngest.
Lex Luthor was pleased with himself as he was driving towards Metropolis. He had successfully, well, not him personally, but his men, kidnapped the youngest member of the Wayne family. Bruce was the most protective and the rest of the brothers are protective too.
The fact that (Y/N) was with them since he was a baby, amplified that protectiveness ten times more. He glanced at rearview mirror, seeing that the toddler was awake.
" Good to see you awake. " Lex said, watching as the toddler rubbed his eyes with his balled up hands.
" Where are we going? " (Y/N) asked, looking out the window.
" Don't worry about that. " Lex said quickly.
There was a silence for a few moments. (Y/N) was swinging his feet, looking around.
" Are we there yet? "(Y/N) asked, looking the back of Lex's head.
" No. "
A few moments passed.
" Are we there yet? "
" No. "
" Are we there now? "
" No. " Lex said, turning on the radio for (Y/N).
" The music is too loud! " (Y/N) whined, making Lex sigh. He turned down the volume. After a few more moments, Lex felt a kick at the back of this seat. He had to take a deep breath.
" Stop it. "
It was calm for a few moments. Then the sit got kicked again.
" Stop it! Right now! " Lex growled out loudly.
" I need to go to the bathroom. " (Y/N) asked, looking at Lex. " Why are you bald? " (Y/N) also asked.
Lex took a deep breath.
" I was in an accident. That's all you need to know. " Lex said.
" I need to go to the bathroom. " (Y/N) whined, making Lex sighed.
" Well, you are going to wait! " Lex yelled at (Y/N), making (Y/N) cross his arms. Alright.
" How much longer? " (Y/N) asked, watching as Lex was loosing his patience.
" Shut up. Just shut up. "
" Can I have your phone? " (Y/N) asked, bouncing his knee.
" Absolutely not. " Lex said, disgusted at the mere thought of it. How does Bruce Wayne put up with this brat?
So what does (Y/N) do in this situation? He starts singing loudly. What did he start singing? Frozen's Let it go. It seems that was the last straw for Lex as he pulled over. He got out of the car and left (Y/N) on the road.
" I'm not doing this. " Lex said, getting back into the car. (Y/N) watched as he drove off, confused?
Who was this bald man? And where were they going? He looked down at his shoes. He wanted to see his dad. But he couldn't walk back.
" Uncle Clark? I need some help. Some bald guy kidnapped me. " (Y/N) said, out loud, turning around to look at trees behind him.
A minute after he said it, Clark landed next to him. " Are you okay? " Clark asked his nephew, looking him over.
" I'm okay. I just want to see my dad. " (Y/N) said, wrapping himself around Clark like a koala.
" And we will kiddo. Hold on tightly. "
" Gordon, I'm telling you, that is Lex Luthor's guy. " Bruce said, rubbing his face.
" I need official conformation that there is a connection. I can understand you are afraid for your son, but I can't act on your hunch." Gordon tried to explain to Bruce. Bruce sighed, sitting down at the office chair in Gordon's office.
" I get that, but... My son is with them. I don't know if he is alive or dead. I don't know if he is injured... I don't know... " Bruce said, worry and sadness clear in his voice.
" I ca- Oh my God. " Gordon trailed off, looking through the glass windows behind Bruce. Bruce turned around, eyes widening at the sight. Superman was holding his son.
Bruce got up and ran out of the office, smiling at the sight of his son. Superman handed the little boy to his father. Bruce embraced his son, fighting tears as he held him tightly.
" Thank you Superman. " Bruce whispered, kissing (Y/N)'s head.
" No problem mister Wayne. Also, he told me that a bald man kidnapped him. " Superman said, making Bruce turn around to give Gordon a look.
" I will speed it up. " Gordon said.
" Thank you. (Y/N), are you hurt? "Bruce asked his son.
" No dad. Can we go home? " (Y/N) asked. He was tired and he laid his head on Bruce's shoulder.
" Of course we can. " Bruce said, thanking Superman once more.

Love and Neighbors
Clark Kent x Reader Chapters AO3
38-Kicking Batman's Ass
With Clark there was hardly ever a reason to be scared. You were with someone who was ninety-nine percent invulnerable and loved you so deeply that he would gladly put a hundred percent of himself into protecting you. Yet, there were still times where you felt your stomach drop and adrenaline rush through your body from being scared, but it wasn’t as often as before you met Clark. In a way, you liked it. There was something nice about having not to worry about other people, it was almost freeing. Still, Clark couldn’t always be there when danger did come around.
It was midnight and you were sitting in the middle of your living room floor trying to make a cute little home-made card for your six-month anniversary with Clark when you heard the front door rattle like someone was trying to open it. At first, you had thought you had misheard because the TV had been playing,  you assumed that it could have been a noise from that, but then it happened again. To be sure, you turned down the show you had been watching and listened.
There had been a sound at the door, and you would have assumed that it was Clark coming in if he hadn’t left not more than an hour ago to fly around the city. Sucking in a breath, you inched toward the door curiously. You wouldn’t open it, but, perhaps, you could see exactly who was on the other side. Suddenly, there was a bang and you jumped.
“Hello? Hun?” A deep voice came through the door. “Can you open the door? I know you’re in there, I watched you walk in.”
I watched you walk in. The words sent adrenaline rushing through your veins and you quickly, silently hurried to the other room. Your heart was beating wildly in your chest as you looked for the phone, and, as you did, the knocking seemingly got louder and louder.
“Clark,” You whispered to yourself. “Where are you when…”
Then, it hit you, Clark had super-hearing. Without thought, you flung open the window and leaned out. Just as the word ‘Superman’ was going to fall from your lips, he appeared in a blink. Breathlessly, you said his name.
“You came,” You said, reaching for him as he floated down into the apartment. The moment your arms were around him, you calmed. It would be alright.
Clark hugged you back, but it was a quick hug—Like he needed to finish something, but wanted to comfort you first. When he let go, he told you to stay there and not to move. Despite the fear tearing through your body, you liked it when he was strict with you. You blinked and suddenly he was in his casual wear instead of the suit. Nodding, you watched him leave and then listened.
The guy at the front door was still banging, and it only stopped when the door opened. There was some commotion, mainly overlapping yelling, then some scuffling. It wasn’t long until silence overcame the room. You began to wonder if you should leave, to make sure that Clark was okay even though it was likely that he was, but stopped when the door opened again.
Clark stood in front of you and quickly took the long, few strides to you. He wrapped you in his arms and told you it was going to be okay.
“Your heart is beating so fast,” He mumbled into your shoulder.
You almost laughed. There was some kind of comedy about forgetting just how super your superhero boyfriend was. “I was scared! A guy was trying to break in.”
Clark chuckled. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, it was your neighbor on your other side. He was drunk out of his mind. Turns out, his girlfriend walked ahead of him and he got confused as to which door she walked into.”
“You’re kidding,” You said, feeling so stupid.
“Nope. I’m pretty sure the guy couldn’t tell up from down he was so hammered,” Clark said between kisses to your head.
You relaxed in his arms, relieved that it wasn’t some creep just trying to get to you, and were quietly thankful that your boyfriend was always going to be there for you. Clark started to let go, suggesting that you should turn in for the night, but you weren’t wanting to break away just yet. Instead, you buried your head into his chest, taking a deep breath in to take in the smell of his aftershave.
“I wish I could make you feel as safe as you make me feel,” You said, giving him a gentle squeeze.
“Oh, you do,” Clark said, and you could practically hear the smile on his lips. “You…Heh, I’m pretty sure if that guy caused me more trouble, you would have gone out there and kicked his butt.”
“Absolutely,” You said without missing a beat. “I’d kick Batman’s ass, too.”
“I’ll make note of that, because, knowing that man, he might need it.” You chuckled, amused by Clark’s joke and finally let go. Sucking in a breath, you squeezed his biceps. “You need to go. I’m safe now.”
Clark swooped down and kissed your lips. “I’ll see you later?”
“Not if I see you first, Superman.”
With a smile, Clark hurried to get his suit back on. Stopping at the window to turn and say, “I’ll call you if I need help?”
You grinned. “My man needs to be safe, so I’ll always be ready to kick ass for you.”
"Same goes to you, Super-girlfriend."
You rolled your eyes, feeling embarrassed. "Oh my God, you ruined it."
Turns out, you didn't need to be scared of much besides Clark's bad jokes.

“I’m off.” Y/N called as she walked towards the front door, her dress bag slung over one arm and the bag containing everything else she could need in the other hand.
“Bit early to be heading out, isn’t it?” Jason said from where he was lying on the sofa holding a book above him.
She turned to face him to find his blue eyes surveying her. “I’m gonna get ready at Dick’s. Means he doesn’t have to come here to pick me up. And I’m going to crash in his spare room tonight, so don’t worry about where I am when you get back from patrol.”
He frowned briefly before covering it with a smirk. “Don’t have too much fun.”
“God, do all of you siblings have the same thought process?” She raised her eyebrows.
“Honestly, I think you can blame Dick for that, sweetheart.” He smiled.
She shook her head with a smile, trying to ignore how the nickname always sent her heart stuttering. “The offer still stands for you to come too.”
He hesitated and she thought he might be considering it. “No, I’m good.”
She turned to face the door so he wouldn’t see her face fall. “Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow, Jay.”
“See you.” He called as she walked out.
***
Y/N adjusted her dress for what felt like the hundredth time as she waited for Dick at the bottom of the Wayne Manor staircase after he had decided he didn’t like his tie and went to grab another from his old room. The dress fit like a glove, just like all the others he had brought her over the years when he needed her to come along as a cover, or required her skill set. But that didn’t mean she felt like she belonged. This world had never been hers, and no matter how many times she accompanied him to galas, it never got any easier.
“Ready?” Dick asked as he reached the bottom of the stairs and offered her his arm. He looked dashing in his tux with his dark hair styled away from his eyes for a change, and she was well aware that even though she was on his arm, people were going to be gushing over him all night.
She took a breath and linked her arm with his. “Not really.”
“Four hours, tops. I promise.” He said as he led the way through the winding corridors towards the ballroom.
“I’ve heard that before, Grayson.” She said under her breath as they reached the doors. He huffed out a quiet laugh and shot her a look, resting his hand on the door handle. She took a breath and nodded, and Dick opened the door.
They were swarmed by people as soon as they entered the room. As always, people wanted to talk to Dick; the charismatic oldest son of Bruce Wayne. Some people involved her in the conversation, complimenting her dress or asking her about how she had come to be on Dick Grayson’s arm, but she knew it was either to be polite, or to figure out how much of a threat she was to their prospects with him. She managed to endure about an hour of him dragging her around to meet different people before she took advantage of spotting Damian stood on his own in a corner.
“I’m going to check on Dami.” She whispered in Dick’s ear so the couple talking wouldn’t hear her.
“Okay, I’ll keep an eye on the mark.” He whispered back, pressing a kiss to her cheek as a cover.
“Excuse me.” She smiled at the couple and squeezed Dick’s arm before walking away.
Damian looked miserable as he tried to stay out of sight over in the corner of the ballroom. She couldn’t have imagined anything worse when she was twelve years old.
“Not having fun?” She asked as she came to a stop next to him.
“Father wouldn’t let me bring Alfred.” He said, glancing up at her briefly before looking towards Dick, who in her absence had had a gaggle of people descend on him.
She hoped he meant Alfred the cat, although she doubted this would be actual Alfred’s scene either. “Well, Dick wouldn’t let me bring my computer so I know how you feel.” She smiled when it caused the corner of his mouth to tug up. “Who else is here besides you?”
“Father, Stephanie, and Tim.” He told her before his eyes darted between her and Dick again. “You and Dick are working.”
It wasn’t a question, so she wasn’t entirely sure how to answer. “Would I be here if we weren’t?”
“No, I suppose not.” He narrowed his eyes at her.
“But I’m not telling you what we’re doing, Dick made me promise not to tell anyone else.” Jason didn’t count, she told herself.
“Please. I am bored.” He stuck his bottom lip out.
She chuckled. “Not happening, Dami.” She ruffled his hair as he huffed and started pouting.
Until something caught his attention. “What is Todd doing here?”
Y/N’s heart seemed to stop as she turned to follow Damian’s gaze, and sure enough, Jason was stood awkwardly in the main entrance to the ballroom. He was wearing a tux that fit his large form perfectly, clinging to him in all the right places, and his hair was perfectly styled for the first time since she had met him. He looked incredible, and all she wanted to do was cross the room and kiss him.
“I might have invited him.” She told Damian, her mouth suddenly feeling very dry.
“You and Todd do not like each other.” Damian said, narrowing his eyes once again.
“We’ve got to know each other.” She said, watching as Jason walked further into the room, his eyes scanning the crowd for familiar faces. “I better go save him, he looks a bit lost.”
She didn’t wait for Damian to answer, well aware that the kid was watching her every move as she navigated the crowd towards where Jason was standing with his back to her and a glass of champagne in his hand. “Thought this wasn’t your scene?”
He turned to face her, his eyes dragging down her body before moving back up to meet her eyes. He swallowed thickly. “Yeah, well, my roommate invited me and I didn’t want to force her to spend the night with Gotham’s rich pricks with only my brother for company.”
“Well, I’m sure she greatly appreciates that.” She smiled.
“She better.” He said, downing his drink and then returning her smile.
She raised her eyebrows. “You planning on getting hammered?”
He stepped forward, so no one could overhear him. “One of the few perks of the pit, it takes a lot of alcohol to get me drunk now.”
She struggled to keep her eyes on his with him standing so close to her. “Dance with me?”
His eyes flickered behind her, where quite a few people were dancing in the centre of the room. “Only to piss Dick off.”
“Why would you dancing with me piss Dick off?” She asked as she took his hand and led him into the middle of the dancefloor. He took her hand in his and rested the other on her waist as she rested hers on his shoulder.
“You’re telling me you’ve never noticed how protective he is over his friends.” He whispered as he started leading in time with the music. “You should have seen the way he reacted the first time I met Roy.”
“I can’t say I’ve noticed.” She said with a smile, making sure she wasn’t going to step on his feet in her heels. Jason could dance, he led her effortlessly across the dance floor. He had clearly learnt while living with Bruce, and she wondered if it was any harder now he had practically tripled in size.
He was clearly thinking about her dancing ability too. “This isn’t the first gala you’ve been to, is it?”
“No. Whenever Dick needs a cover, really doesn’t want to be bored, or needs my skillset, I have to endure being his date for an evening.” She said as he spun them around. Speak of the devil, the new angle meant she could see Dick over Jason’s shoulder. His mouth was hanging open slightly as he stared at them. “Speaking of, he’s currently staring at us.”
Jason spun them back the other way and she watched his mouth twist up into a wolfish grin as he winked in Dick’s direction.
“Now you’re just trying to piss him off.”
“Got to have some fun sometimes, sweetheart.” He said, before ducking down to speak directly into her ear. “Has he swiped the guy’s phone yet?”
She followed his lead and leant forward, speaking in hushed whispers into his ear. “Not yet, but he’s keeping an eye on him for when the opportunity presents itself.”
“Which one of these assholes is the mark then?” He swung them past another couple who were getting a bit too close.
She scanned the room before turning him in the right direction. “Full black tux, red carnation in his button hole.” She felt his entire body tense up as he spotted the right man, his muscles curling as if he was going to launch himself across the room. She tightened her grip on him subconsciously, unwilling to be the reason Dick didn’t get what he needed.
“That’s Roman Sionis.” His voice dropped further and took on a venomous edge.
“I know, he’s a mob boss. Me and Dick have been tracking him for a while now. He’s moving into arms, we think-”
Jason cut her off, pulling her closer against him as he continued leading them through the other couples. “He’s not just a mob boss, Y/N. He’s Black Mask.”
She pulled back so she could look at him, finding worry and anger burning in his ice blue eyes. “How do you know that?”
He clenched his jaw before sucking a breath in through his teeth. “When I first got back and was trying to establish myself, I did a few jobs for him. He’s worse than most of the other fuckers, and he’s not just into arms, its human trafficking as well.”
“All the more reason to bring him down then.”
His hand on her hip shifted to the small of her back, pressing her closer to him. “He’s dangerous, Y/N. Really dangerous.”
“Me and Dick have been doing this a long time, Jason. We have strategies in place if something goes wrong. It’ll be fine.” She slid her hand up his shoulder and cupped his jaw to get him to look at her. He reluctantly dragged his eyes over from Sionis and once he met hers she could see that the outside of his irises were tinged green. "Jay-”
“Mind if I cut in.” Dick practically shoved himself in between them and sent a scathing glance at Jason over his shoulder.
“Don’t worry, Dickhead, I’m not trying to steal your best friend.” Jason took a step back and met Y/N’s eyes again. “If you need me, I’ll be by the bar.”
She watched him walk off and hoped that meant he wasn’t going to get involved. She turned back to Dick, who had already started tugging her towards one of the exit doors that led to the bathrooms. “You get it?”
He nodded and held the door open for her, following quickly behind as she walked through. He did the same for the bathroom door and locked it behind them. He handed over the phone as she reached into her bra and pulled out the small memory stick hidden in the sewn in pocket. She plugged it into the charging port and clicked through the prompts on the screen before placing it down.
“How long?” Dick asked, looking over her shoulder as the upload bar appeared.
“Ten minutes, tops.” She turned around and pushed herself up to sit on the bathroom counter. “Perfect amount of time to pretend we snuck away for a quickie in the bathroom.”
He snorted and leant back against the wall across from her with his arms crossed. “You want to tell me why you were dancing with my brother?”
“I wasn’t aware I couldn’t.” She said with a smile.
“You don’t like Jason.” He pointed out.
She resisted the urge to laugh. “Incorrect. I didn’t use to like Jason.”
“What changed?”
“I don’t know, might have had something to do with the fact you dumped him on me for four days when he could barely walk. Oh yeah, and then he saved my life.” She watched Dick’s expression and snorted. “I can’t believe he was right.”
“Right about what?”
“That you’re very protective over your friends and think he’s trying to steal them.” She smiled wider as he somehow managed to look even more offended. “It’s alright, Dickie, you’re still my best friend.”
“I better be.” He said with a pout. “He is closer to your age than I am though.”
“Seriously Dick, we’re not in high school anymore, your friends don’t all have to be the same age as you.” She smiled and glanced down at the phone to see it was halfway done. “We better make it look like we did sneak away for a quickie and have tried to hide the evidence.”
“Yeah, we better.” He said with a sigh before running his hands through his perfectly styled hair to ruffle it up. She followed suit, jumping down from the side and using the mirror to carefully mess up her own hairstyle to make it look like it had been pulled out and hastily put back together. He loosened his tie and undid the second button as she dropped her dress more off one shoulder than the other. She slightly smudged her lipstick on one corner of her mouth and had an idea.
“Come here.” She said and he turned to look at her with a confused expression. She tugged him forward by his lapel and dragged her bottom lip on the edge of his shirt collar. She pulled back and admired the slight drag of colour against the stark white.
“Good thinking. I’d give you a hickey but I think then Jason might kill me.” He said as he looked at the mark she had left.
Her lips parted. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Did you seriously not notice the way he was looking at you when you started dancing? I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jason look at someone that way. I think my baby brother has a crush.” His blue eyes lit up with mischief and not for the first time she wondered how him and Jason weren’t actually related.
“I think you’re seeing things, Nightwing. You did hit your head pretty hard last night.” She unplugged the memory stick and stashed it back in its pocket before handing the phone back to Dick.
“My head is fine.” The pout was back.
“C’mon, I need another drink.” She unlocked the bathroom door and grabbed his hand before dragging him back towards the ballroom.
It seemed like all eyes turned to them as they walked back in, so it wasn’t hard for her to look sheepish and him to plaster on his signature smile. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his side as he led them towards an empty spot in a corner.
“He’s by the bar, I’ll slip his phone back while I get you a drink.” He said.
“I hate this part.” She muttered as people continued staring.
He ducked down and pressed a kiss under her ear as part of the show. “I know. Half an hour to avoid suspicion and then we’ll leave. I promise.”
“I’ll hold you to that, Grayson.” She said, and watched as he walked away.
She scanned the crowd for familiar faces and found Bruce talking to a group of people with his hand firmly on Damian’s shoulder, probably to stop his youngest from bolting for the exit, Steph was dancing with a guy around her age Y/N didn’t recognise, and Tim was sat huddled up with Bernard. She was so preoccupied with looking for people she knew, that a hand on her hip made her jump out of her skin. She turned around and resisted the urge to smack Jason’s chest.
“The lipstick on his collar was a nice touch.” He said, moving to perch on the edge of the table in front of her.
“Yeah, well, we had to make it look believable.” She said, glancing over to where Dick was standing at the bar.
“You used this as a cover before?” He asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
She sighed. “Couple of times. He’s a known womanizer, remember, so it’s expected.”
He snorted before glaring at something behind her. “Demon spawn.”
“Todd.” Damian said.
“Hey, that’s mean.” She turned to Jason and whacked his arm. He narrowed his eyes at Damian, who was looking smug at her coming to his defence. She turned back to face Damian. “Everything okay?”
“Father won’t let me leave.” He complained.
“Why’s that our problem? Go bug someone else.” Jason scowled.
“Jay!” She shot a glare his way.
“You should be glad Y/N was kind enough to invite you, no one else would have.” Damian shot back.
Y/N resisted the urge to just go and join Dick at the bar. “Can you two not get long for five minutes? I mean, you both probably have more in common than any of your other siblings.” She fixed her gaze on Jason.
“Fine.” Jason finally said moving his eyes towards Damian. “Truce?”
“Only for Y/N’s sake.” Damian nodded his head once.
“Thank you.” She said before turning back to Damian. “How’s school going?”
Damian got straight to complaining about already knowing everything they had to teach him, only requiring the occasional prompt or hum of agreement from Y/N or Jason. Dick seemed to have been distracted at the bar by an old friend, so she assumed she wasn’t getting another drink. She was considering just going to get one herself when Damian stopped mid-sentence.
“What is he doing here?” Damian said it like it was a personal offence, so both Y/N and Jason turned to look at the door.
Y/N’s heart stopped and she found herself fighting to get air into her lungs. Lex Luthor was standing in the main entrance to the ballroom, two men flanking him who were clearly bodyguards. She swore she could feel the knife tearing into her skin again as Jason practically growled and shot to his feet as if he was going to run straight across the room and tackle Luthor. She reached out and grabbed his arm before he could get too far away from her.
“Jay.” She choked out as her breathing became more erratic.
He spun to face her, his eyes immediately softening. “Fuck, okay. Let’s get you out of here.”
He wrapped an arm around her waist and started leading her towards the door her and Dick had entered through two hours ago. By the time they reached it, her knees were so weak he was practically holding her up. He didn’t seem to mind, however, and practically carried her up the stairs into the main body of the manor. Her thoughts were too jumbled to pay any attention to where he was taking her, but he seemed to realise that, as he didn’t try and say anything. He hesitated briefly outside of a door, so briefly she barely noticed, before he pushed it open and walked inside.
He gently set her down on the edge of a bed and dropped to his knees in front of her. He cupped her face in his hands, simultaneously forcing her to look at him and allowing him to wipe away the tears that had started streaming down her face with his thumbs. His hands were softer than she was expecting, and she raised hers to circle his wrists, resting her fingers over his pulse point and feeling the steady beat.
“You’re okay.” He said softly. “He’s not going to hurt you again, I promise.”
“What’s he doing here?” She asked as her breathing finally started to even back out.
He sighed. “I don’t know. But Bruce won’t be happy he is, and I don’t think Bruce will let him stay.”
She nodded and pulled back from him slightly, but still kept her hands wrapped around his as she moved them from her face. Her vision had started to clear, allowing her to finally take a look around the room they were in. It was clearly the room of a teenage boy; posters littered the walls, a record player and a stack of vinyls sat in one corner, a tv and a bunch of DVDs in the other. The bedside table was covered in old magazines and the bookcase on the far wall was crammed with paperback and hardbacks alike.
He noticed her looking and swallowed thickly, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down in his throat. “This- this was my childhood room. Barely anyone comes in here now, so I knew we’d be left alone.”
She stood on shaky legs and walked over to the book case. He had a small book case in his apartment, but it didn’t have nearly as many books on it as this one did. As far as she knew, most of the books she had seen him reading came from the public library around the corner from his apartment. She heard Jason move and when she looked back, he was sat on the bed watching her.
“I knew you liked to read, but damn, you could have started your own library.”
He chuckled and laid back against the pillows, staring at the ceiling. “You sound like Alfred.”
She walked back over and laid down next to him, hands so close together that either one of them could shift slightly and tangle their fingers together.
“You know, the worst part is, I don’t even think Luthor would know who I was. I mean, he’s tried to have me tortured and killed twice, but I bet I was nothing more than a name on a piece of paper.” She whispered, keeping her eyes on the ceiling.
He shifted his hand, wrapping his pinkie around hers hesitantly. “Men like him are worth nothing. If Bruce wasn’t downstairs and I had my helmet, I’d put a bullet between his eyes before he could blink.”
She turned her head to the side to find him already looking at her and squeezed her pinkie around his. “You were right about Dick, by the way. He was jealous.”
“Is that so?” His face broke into a grin.
She hummed. “Seems to think that because me and you are closer in age I’m going to trade him in for the younger model.” She smiled when he laughed. “Why did you come tonight?”
“I already told you.” He whispered, dropping his gaze from hers again.
“Jay.” She said softly.
“You were right when you suggested it, I need to start trying more. I can’t keep blaming everyone else for not trying, when I’m not either.” He admitted. They laid in silence for a few minutes before he spoke again. “You know, teenage me would be ecstatic if he could see me now, lying in this bed with a pretty girl.”
“You’re telling me you weren’t popular with the ladies in high school with this pretty face.” She shifted forward slightly and ran a finger along his chiselled jaw.
He leaned into her touch “You know I died at fifteen, right? And I was a pretty scrawny kid before that.”
“I think teenage me would have been into teenage you.” She whispered.
“Really?”
“I mean, from the looks of this room, you were just the right level of nerd.” She smiled.
“And what about now?” He breathed out, subconsciously shifting forward until there was only an inch or so between them.
“I don’t think current you is half bad either.” All it took was his eyes flickering down to look at her lips for her to close the gap between them. His lips were soft against hers as he responded almost immediately. She turned her body into him as he did the same, brushing her fingers along his cheek before she tangled her hand in his curls as he wrapped an arm around her waist to pull her closer. The broke apart briefly, eyes searching each other for some form of hesitancy before he surged forward and kissed her again.
His hands moved to her hips and he pulled her on top of him with an ease that took her breath away. Sometimes she forgot how much the pit had actually enhanced him, on top of the muscles he worked for himself.
He sat up, keeping his lips on hers as he shifted her so she was straddling his lap. She buried her hands in his hair and tugged, causing him to groan and part his lips so she could deepen the kiss. She pressed herself closer to him as his hands moved up from her hips to knead at her chest through her dress. He swallowed the noises she made easily as she kept one hand in his hair and moved the other to start loosening his tie.
That’s when he finally seemed to realise what he was doing because his whole body went rigid and he gently pushed her back. “Fuck- I-I’m sorry. Fuck. I c-can’t do this. I’m sorry.” His eyes were glassy and her lipstick was smeared all around his lips.
“It’s okay.” She whispered, quickly clambering off of him to sit on the bed again. She adjusted her dress to cover her properly again as he struggled to get his breathing back under control.
He stood from the bed, looking anywhere but her. “I’ll send Dick up. You can go home with him as planned.” He wiped at his mouth with his sleeve as he walked out, leaving her staring after him.
She pulled herself together enough to stumble into the ensuite bathroom to try and sort her face out before Dick arrived. Her lipstick was smeared all around her lips and tear tracks were visible in the foundation on her cheeks, but luckily she had the foresight to wear waterproof eye make-up, so at least she didn’t have to deal with mascara everywhere. She wiped off the lipstick, but knew even if she took the rest of her make-up off, Dick would be able to tell she had been crying from how red her eyes were.
“Y/N?” Dick called as the bedroom door was pushed open.
She took a deep breath to steel herself and then walked out of the bathroom. “Hey.”
“You okay?” He asked, taking in her appearance.
She nodded, biting her lip as she tried to figure out what to say. “What happened with Luthor?”
“Bruce nearly lost it, I honestly thought he was going to go full on Batman on Luthor’s ass, but he stopped himself. He had him escorted out because he didn’t have a ticket. I think Luthor only showed up to gloat about a bad business deal though.” Dick said. “Jason seemed… off, I mean, more than normal. Did something happen?”
She shook her head. “Other than me having a panic attack on him, no.”
He nodded. “Must be the room then, I think this is probably the first time he’s actually been back in here since he got back.”
“Oh.” Her heart clenched painfully and she tried not to think about what had just happened. “Can we leave now?” She asked, her voice breaking.
Dick didn’t hesitate to walk forward and wrap his arms around her. She screwed her eyes shut and buried her face in his shoulder. “Yeah, of course. Let’s go.” But he didn’t actually move until she did. He squeezed her arms before taking her hand and leading her through the corridors to his car.

Minx
Pairing: Lex Luthor x GN!Reader
Prompt 31: Ending a kiss with a little nip to the lip.
“I cannot believe we are missing the MET Gala for this.”
You laugh, and turn to look at Lionel. He’s dressed in a suit and looks painfully out of place. While the man hadn’t been initially thrilled about your relationship with Lex, he had been trying to get closer to you and Lex since the wedding, and he tried to spend time with you and Lex regularly; something that never failed to baffle your husband.
You put your hands on your hips,  “What do you mean? This is the annual Smallville County Fair. This is a time honored tradition and I haven’t missed one since mom and dad adopted me, which was three days after I was born.”
Lionel stares at you, and behind him Lex is trying really hard to not laugh, “So you’ve come to this fair every year? No matter what? You’ve never missed it?”
You shake your head, “Nope. When I was nine and had a hundred degree fever, we stopped by on the way to the hospital. When I was in college, I would drive back for it. The fair ended up getting rescheduled for two days before Lex and I were due back from our honeymoon, and I made him leave early.”
Lionel’s head whips around to look at his son, “You stopped traveling around Europe to come back for some rinky dink fair.”
Lex nods, “It’s a Kent family tradition.” Lionel’s eyes go wide as Lex sheds his outer jacket to reveal a sweatshirt, with the words “Kent Family Farm” on them, jeans, and tennis shoes. “What the hell are you wearing?”
“Well the Kents have a stand here. And in order for everyone to enjoy the fair, we take turns manning the stand and selling stuff. This is just the uniform. Don’t worry, Martha has one for you too.”
“Please tell me you’re lying.”
Lex wraps his arm around your shoulders, “Nope.”
Lionel lets out a little whimper, and you take pity on the man. “Come on Lionel. How about we play some games.”
It takes exactly three games for Lionel to start complaining about people being cheats, and the games being rigged. When you offer him some of the funnel cake you and Lex are splitting he gives you a health lesson, and by the time you reach your family’s stand he looks about ready to rip his hair out.
You get him settled in a chair, and suggest he check his email. That seems to calm him, as he connects with the world outside of Smallville. You head back to the front of the booth to find your dad handing money over to Lex.
“What in the world are you two doing?”
Your dad grumbles, “Your husband hustled me. I bet him twenty dollars that he couldn’t get Lionel out here and keep him here for at least two hours.”
Lex holds up three fingers, “He’s lasted for three, and only made one child cry. That’s a success in my book.”
Your dad shrugs, before saying, “Speaking of which, he’s been banned for next year.”
“I’m sure he’ll be devastated.” Any talk about Lionel ceases as your mother comes over. She and your dad head out to explore and you go to Lex. You tuck yourself into his side, and he says, “We didn’t come back from our honeymoon early. And we missed the last three of these things.”
“Yeah. But your dad tends to complain less if he thinks something is a tradition or is important to me.”
Lex laughs before swooping down to kiss you, he ends it with a little nip to your bottom lip, before resting his forehead against yours. “You are such a minx.”
“And that’s exactly how you like me.”

Lex Luthor (Smallville) - Short Story : Chapter 1
Tumblr media
When you got to Smallville, the first thing people seemed to warn you about was anyone with Luthor as their last name. For a while you thought it was a bluff. The Luthors as you learned were just rich. So you could understand why people would feel threatened.
The problem was the topic kept coming up. To the point that you decided to take the advice. You’d just gotten a substitute position at Smallville High. While your end goal was to teach at a high ranking university, you were determined to avoid anything that could compromise your dream.
That’s why it was unclear how you still managed to be trapped in a corporate building with a Luthor.
“Seriously!!!”
The lights were flickering and cops were surrounding the building due to the two criminals that were currently carrying guns searching for the valuables. They’d planned a hit on Luthor Corps' many facilities. In this case they hadn’t accounted for every variable. Now you were trapped in a closet hiding, pressed against a certain millionaire.
“If you keep yelling this won’t be a very good ending for either of us.” He hissed.
He was obviously pissed.
Initially you’d just come in to visit a friend and ended up on the wrong floor.
“The police have the place surrounded. We should be safe soon, so just bear with it.”
You huffed, agitated. Lex had instinctively grabbed you and pulled you in here. You’d like to think he was actually worried for your wellbeing, but maybe it was just for his own safety. Ultimately you could lead those psychos back to him.
“Clark was right, you’re a freaking magnet for trouble.”
You grumble.
The mention of that name seemed to gain a reaction.
“I’m not surprised that Clark Kent has little faith in me.”
“He must have a reason.”
“Trust me he’s no saint.”
“And you are?”
You shifted as best you could, glaring at him. His gaze fixed on you with the same type of defiance.
“You don’t even know me, why the hell do you hate me so much?”
“I just dislike people that take advantage of others.”
He didn’t truly have a comeback, because he couldn’t wholeheartedly say that he didn’t have a hand in manipulating people. His expression showed hesitance and regret. It caught you a little off guard.
“You really think anyone would enjoy doing that, being that way..”
His words fell off. The vulnerability he revealed was so far from what you would expect. You couldn’t really retaliate. Because at that moment, you almost felt sorry. Both for your spiteful words and mistrust when you truly didn’t even know him.
“Come on out Luthor!!”
The yell from the otherside startled you.
Lex’s jaw set, and he pressed his hand to the wall.
“Don’t make a sound.”
He mouthed.
You nodded.
This wasn’t looking very good. Your heart was hammering, and the fact that the both of you were so close must have alerted him how scared you truly were. His expression conveyed a protectiveness that you didn’t expect.
“I won’t let you die here, I promise.”
It was whispered, and for a second you were confused on how he intended to stop these guys before the police decided it was the right time to move. He spun you around the best he could in the small space, reaching for the knob as he jumped out the door slamming it in your face.
You were terrified. He must have lost his mind. You knew you should have done something, but you were frozen in fear. Because you’d heard the gunshots when they first breached the building. These guys had automatic weapons. How exactly was he planning to stop bullets?
“I’m here, okay. I’m here. We can walk out of here right now and I’ll take you to get something that could set you up for life.”
You were trembling.
Your assailant laughed, and you heard the door open.
“You hear that James, he wants to help us get rich.” The first said.
“It doesn’t sound so bad.” His partner replied.
“If we leave now we can get out before the cops come. No one has to die.”
Neither of you were aware how many hostages they had. It sounded like Lex was trying to keep the casualties to a minimum by giving himself up.
You swallow. It was risky to trust these men. It was almost guaranteed that after they got what they wanted, Lex’s life was in their hands.
“This isn’t your problem. You don’t even know the guy. Who cares if he gets taken by some potentially psychotic killers.”
Your inner pep talk wasn’t helping.
Why the hell did you have to be an empath?
Clenching your eyes shut, you grab the knob, pushing your way out of the closet. You stumbled out and the second the two men saw you, they raised their guns. Lex looked startled, maybe a bit pissed.
You raised your hands on instinct. It must have been comical how much your body was shaking right now.
“What do we have here, a little mouse? “ The taller man snickered.
“N-Not a mouse, just an empath.” You stated.
You could see the confusion on their faces as they laughed. You just closed your eyes, tilting your wrists. Lex stared at the blue mist that seemed to be seeping from your hands.
“W-What the hell!!”
Both men screamed.
They didn’t have a chance to pull their triggers.
A similar blue glow reflected off their irises.
The guns dropped from their hands and they both ran off screaming as if they’d seen a ghost. The yells must have alerted the police, because you heard the floor getting breached.
“EVERYONE ON THE FLOOR NOW!!”
The yells echoed and you dropped to the floor. Lex followed, dropping at your side. You both were faces down as the cops began to swarm the floor. Although your head was lowered, you could feel Lex’s eyes.
The turnout was much better.
Three people had gotten injured, but luckily they were set to make a full recovery. No one had died. The second you were free of the probing questions and mandatory check from the paramedics, you could see the swarm of people behind the police tape. One of which was Clark. The second he caught sight of you he rushed to your side, hugging you happily.
“Easy Clark, wouldn’t want to open up a stitch.”
He pulled back immediately.
“You got stitches!!”
You shake your head with a smile, lifting your hands.
“Completely untouched. Just messing with you.”
He didn’t look impressed, but he was still smiling.
“I’m glad you’re okay.”
Hell, so were you.
Out of your peripheral you caught sight of Lex. Your head turned the very moment that he looked in your direction. The intensity of his stare was almost too much. It’s like he was trying to solve a mystery. Yet, at the same time he looked almost…relieved.
Clark wasn’t oblivious to the exchange. His eyes moved in Lex’s direction, and almost immediately Lex’s expression changed. Now he seemed indifferent. You gripped at Clark’s arm, and he broke eye contact, looking down at you.
“He knows about me.”
You could practically see the wheels turning in Clark’s head and his body immediately change to a protective stance. As terrified as you were of dying, you were equally as scared of what this meant. Because with Lex now knowing your secret, your future in Smallville was a bit undetermined.
