Villain had always known something was wrong with Supervillain.
Even when she was young, she knew. She always had an inkling that something was wrong…that even though she had always been inside a burning house, so she had no way to truly know better, she could smell the smoke and could tell that something about it wasn’t right.
She’d known since he’d have her train in a thick wool coat during the summer and in a tank top and shorts in the winter. He was cinnamon. Too much cinnamon. Sweet, but spicy in excess.
Something about him had always been wrong, and time had only exacerbated it. As his skin became thinner and his veins began to show, he could no longer hide what was lurking beneath him.
Bracing her shoulders, Villain pushed open the door to his bedroom with her foot, balancing a tray of tea in her hands.
Her eyes fell on the bed bound old man, and her heart twinged.
Sometimes she wanted to stab him in the eye, other times she wanted to make him healthy and whole again.
“What are you doing?” Supervillain growled. “I told you not to poison my tea—I don’t want it!”
Villain inhaled through her clenched teeth, then took another step inside. “It’s rosemary. Your favorite.” She set the silver tray on the bedside table. “It’s good for you.”
Supervillain narrowed his eyes. “You’re out to kill me, huh?! Is that right?! I always knew you’d betray me—trying to…to lie to my face. I know what you did!” He babbled with a vicious snarl.
Trembling, his veiny hands reached forward and knocked the tea off the tray, sending pale brown drips of tea splattering across the room like a hailstorm of bullets.
Her shoulders sank, but she quietly collected the pieces of the cup. “You’re my mentor, I owe you everything. Why would I betray you?”
“Because you were always soft! You couldn’t handle my demands, you couldn’t take the intensity of my training! You whined and whined…and now you’ll kill me for making you what you are!” He rambled, spit and vitriol flying from his lips with an ease that hit Villain like a slap.
As his health declined, the things he had thought in the back of his head was rapidly exploding through the surface, and his words only prodded the bruise in Villain’s heart. She couldn’t tell if she wanted to fix his broken pieces, as shattered as the teacup, or break him even further—to give him a real reason to think she’d turn on him and hurt him.
She could.
She was capable of hurting him…but something stopped her.
The memories of the bandaids, soothing shushes and little gifts all hung over her mind like a trap. So long as those memories distracted her, she couldn’t make herself hate Supervillain. As much as he was a mentor…he was a father. Not the greatest, but still a father—someone who had somewhat filled that gaping hole in her life. He hadn’t filled it, not completely, but he had tried.
Villain had to try to put up with him at his worst, as he had done for her.
If only there was a way to fix it…he wouldn’t be perfect, but he’d at least have sweet moments mixed in with the bad.
These days, it was only bad.
“Supervillain…” she clenched her fists on her knees, sitting down on a nearby chair with a sigh. “How can I help you get better?”
Her bottom lip trembled. She wasn’t allowed to cry, but she felt so much like a child that she couldn’t ignore the burn in her eyes.
Was there even a way to fix this?
Would she simply have to watch him decline every day until he died?
Supervillain paused for a moment—a brief moment of what was almost lucidity shining in his eyes. “The heroes would know.” He whispered vaguely.
“What would they know?” Villain desperately lifted her head to look at him, to see if he was spouting the truth or another delusion.
“Back in my day, they did experiments…on people’s minds. They had—had superpowered people, and they used their brains…” he yammered, making motions with his arms. “If anybody could know how to do it…they would.”
“They would…?” Villain didn’t know whether to believe it or not…but it could be worth a look.
She stood up from the chair and chewed on her lip as she thought about it.
What would it hurt to look?
It’s not like the heroes could stop her if they tried.

🗡️Protective prompts:
She’s mine.
Mind your tone when you speak to my wife.
You speak like that to my wife ever again and you’ll find my knife somewhere uncomfortable.
She’s my wife. Fuck off.
Who were you talking to?
Back off. Now.
Mind your tone.
What did he say to you?
Do you want me to kill him?
She’s with me.
Do you mind if I sit here? No? Wonderful.
I won’t apologize for killing someone who hurt you, dear.
You really thought I wouldn’t notice how he was staring at you the whole night?
I’ll have his head for that.
If you ever even look at her in the wrong way, I’ll end you.
Do you want me to torture him, darlin’?
Mind your words.
Watch your step.
Who was that?
What did he want from you?
Can I kill him?
What were you doing with her?
Do you want to get yourself killed?!
She’s my wife, you moron.
If he lays one single finger on you…
I can’t promise you I won’t kill him, darlin’.
I’ll kill anyone who harms you.
I’ll kill him.
You’ve been where?!
Who were you with?
If you come near her ever again, I’ll end you, understood?

I could write poetry in rhyme, but to me that's always felt like a personal crime. Do I fear mainstream or am I just more intrigued by a far more vague dream?
Rules of grammar, like all other rules, I love to break. But nothing is consistent about the way I, from art, pleasure take.
I attended a live music show for the first time a few weeks ago with a musician friend. She made me realize all the songs I liked belonged to the Blues genre - isn't that my life's trend?
Today I write poetry in rhyme, because lately I have anyway been committing so many moral crimes. Is this how I break my soul or is this how I finally learn to take up space? My friends may no longer love me but hey that too would be such a consistent trend so you tell me...how is it that everything has changed and yet nothing has changed at all?

40 Day Anime Challenge Day 20- A ship that makes you question your morality: Amu and Ikuto from Shugo Chara (2007-2009)
Tumblr media
Synopsis (paraphrased from MAL: Shy Amu Hinamori struggles to make friends despite her reputed "cool and spicy" personality. Wishing she could be more honest, Amu wakes up one morning with 3 “Heart’s Eggs” that hatch into "Guardian Characters"—manifestations of her would-be self. This sudden appearance prompts the Seiyo Elementary Guardians to to declare her their "Joker," and task her with helping them find X Eggs—corrupted versions of one's Hearts Egg. Amu begins to uncover more about these mysterious Characters, the X Eggs, and the organization that seems to be at the center of it all.
So, I have a whole post about why I ship Amuto- which can be broadly summarized as he’s a bad guy that protects the good girl despite them being on opposite sides, and ultimately becomes a good guy for her, but still with his bad boy sass and flair!
Why does this ship make me question my morality? Weeeeelllllllll...there’s a 5 year age difference, with Amu starting the series around age 11-12, and Ikuto around age 17. Now, look, I would never condone this kind of ship irl. I remember @sailorstarr-chan4 asking me how I would feel about someone like Ikuto going for a dear family friend’s child who was the same age as Amu at the time, whom I’ve known since she was 6. Without skipping a beat, I responded that I would cut off the guy’s manhood and make him eat it. This girl is now 14 and I would still respond that way. However...IN THIS SERIES IT JUST WORKS, OKAY????? And in my defence they’re canon in the manga!!!!

I got added to a group chat of cis het white guys at my school. Now I'm conducting a 7 day study of how straight people act. I will release the research paper when it's done. It's so far weirdly sexual.

the thought of making you beg and cry, marking you with my teeth and making sure it bruises and hurts. The more I hurt you, the more you’ll crave me. You want to be under someone and I can give that to you. It’d be so much easier if I knew where you lived… if only <3

Question:
What's stopping someone from stealing sanitary "items" from public restroom bins, and using the blood for some weird and possibly illegal things?

“You’re evil!” Villain screamed.
“Am I?” Hero smiled, dragging her finger along the bar of Villain’s cell. “I believe it’s rather nice of me to keep you alive now that I don’t need you anymore…”
Her smile had no emotion behind it. No pain, no anger—not even happiness.
Truthfully, Hero had never felt much emotion. She only felt a diluted feeling of sadness or any of the many emotions she’d heard of—but they never felt like anything important to her. People were as insignificant as ants. Life was a toy to play with, and death was inevitable.
It was simple as that.
So she played with life. As a princess, she was bound to be married off like cattle, but did that mean she’d have to be a demure princess without any power? She overthrew Villain, a malevolent queen, and wasn’t it a good thing that she did? Hero had learned to replicate emotions by looking at expressions and people’s reactions—and people were cheering and grinning when she announced that she’d taken down their sovereign.
Somewhere above the deep, dank dungeons was a festival where people were celebrating their queen being overpowered.
“I always knew there was something wrong with you.” Villain pressed closer the the bars, a hand on her wound. Beads of sweat rolled down her face and she collapsed against the bars. Her eyes found Hero, and she glared. “I will burn your kingdom to the ground, you witch.”
Hero laughed and bent down. “Really? If you knew something was wrong with me then you were willingly ignorant, and that’s not my fault, is it?” She pouted with mock sympathy, and poked a finger through the bars to tap Villain on the nose. “I’ll enjoy your kingdom; I’ll certainly do a better job than you ever did.”
“Locking me up won’t bring Civilian back!” Villain snapped.
“Do you think that just because you’re loud that your words mean more?” Hero asked, head tilted. Her eyes flitted over Villain. “You deserve to be killed a thousand times worse than how you had Civilian killed, but I want you here to suffer.”
“You aren’t a hero. You’re an evil witch.”
“No. I’m a hero, but I’m also a witch.” She stood up and looked at the end of the corridor. “Bye bye, Villain.”
She savored the helpless look on Villain’s face before she turned around.

Hello :)
Hi there all,
First off, I'm a long-time admirer of Tumblr from afar but this is my first time ever using it even though I've been part of probably every fandom known to man at some point in my life!
I have a question related to fictional villains and their appeal as a part of my dissertation I'm writing and I would love some different opinions. Essentially, I want to talk about how we enjoy these villains as they allow us to enjoy darker ideas and sides to our personalities in a safe, non-real context. So:
-What is it you like about villains? What is attractive both physically or ascetically or otherwise.
-What does their backstory contribute to this, what can you sympathise with despite their villainous label/ actions?
-And how does placing yourself in that world through fanfic, art and communities such as this help you explore your darker side?
And feel free to add anything else you'd like!
I know this is all a bit formal and I look like a knobhead academic but I'm really passionate about this project as my disso and would love to hear some thoughts from those to whom villains matter most other than just myself rambling about why I actually really love Erik from Phantom of the Opera and Jareth in Labyrinth and they're just misunderstood. Oh, and for context, I'm looking at these three as my main case studies:
-Snape (more morally grey than a villain), Kylo Ren, and The Phantom!
So drop a note or send me a PM if you have anything to add to this because it would be nice to know I'm not a complete degenerate for liking them and of course you'll be credited within the final essay.
Thank you so much for putting up with my garbage :)

Morally grey
Morally ambiguous
Morally questionable
Whatever you want to call it. What I mean is characters that are neither fully good or neither fully evil. Characters that fluctuate from one to the other in moments of strength/weakness or stability/vulnerability or pleasure/pain. These are the most realistic characters because real life people are just like this. They’re not a “hero” or a “villain”, they not a “protagonist” or an “antagonist”. They’re a representation of any or all of it either sometimes or at the same time. That’s a realistic and comprehensive understanding of the human condition and experience.
Characters that represent all of that are the only characters I have any real interest in watching.
You can give me a straight-laced, plain Jane/Jack character all you want. But I’ll just be indifferent to them. I’ll neither feel positive or negative about them.
In fact I’ll probably just forget them altogether.
I don’t watch Marvel or DC supernatural/fantasy because I’m only interested in heroes and villains when there’s a representation of both in all the characters. When the lines between good/evil, right/wrong, peace/war and love/hate blur until you’re looking at someone as dynamic and nuanced as you.
