I fully encourage playing video games however you please, but something that (personally) makes me so truly sad is when I see people use the "clean Arthur" mod or edit photos to make characters look "better" - especially the women.

We all have preferences, but I can't lie that scrubbing characters of their wrinkles or skin blemishes or even scars leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth. These details are deliberate and thoughtfully designed, not only make characters look human, but to represent humans too.

I find it so hard to not find beauty in all the ways we differ from eachother, and ageing especially is so wonderful. Smile lines and wrinkles from years of laughter, tanned skin and coarse hands from the hours and hours spent outside in nature, blemishes and freckles and texture that reminds me of stars and the landscapes we tread on, scars and healing wounds that show you survived hard times, chipped teeth and crooked noses that show all the fights won, hair of so many different colours and textures, I just find it impossible to not fall in love with the intricacies of human nature.

I don't deny that people with clear or perfect skin exist, but I just ask to look beyond and see the beauty in all human authenticity <3

A break from him being the leader, the shepherd, the councilor. This scene gives him a moment to just FEEL.

There is light just around the corner. Hope. Resolve. Resolution.

But, in this moment, Gandalf can experience those feelings of sadness and devastation.

To pause, after running around Middle Earth for so long.

The deep breath before the plunge.
