During a very cold windy Sunday, we went to explore Nemea, whose name might be familiar because of the lion and Hercules and so.
But Dim told me the story of this archaeological site and it was very interesting. There was this american guy, Stephen Miller, that back in the 70s asked to the greek government permission to excavate in Nemea, because he knew what he was going to find: The stadium, the Zeus temple, and some more. And he did! All with his money and donors money, Greece didn't have to pay for any of these. The guy spent decades in there, unearthing, restoring and finally opening both the site and the museum. He even managed to bring back the Nemean games (similar to the ancient olympic games) and now they're celebrated every 4 years, anyone can attend!
So, bless Mr. Miller, because this site was amazing and actually this was one of the few places where they actually let you step into the ruins and the temple itself :)

Graces with golden distaffs, give fame, which moves the minds of men; for the divinely inspired prophet of the violet-eyed Muses is ready to sing the praises of Phlius and [5] the flourishing plain of Nemean Zeus, where white-armed Hera reared the sheep-slaughtering, deep-voiced lion, the first of Heracles’ far-famed labors. [10] There the heroes with red shields, the best of the Argives, held games for the first time in honor of Archemorus, whom a fiery-eyed monstrous dragon killed in his sleep: a sign of the slaughter to come. [15] Powerful fate! The son of Oicles could not persuade them to go back to the streets thronged with good men. Hope robs men [of their sense]: it was she who then sent Adrastus son of Talaus [20] to Thebes … to Polyneices … […]

Ruby: My name's Nix~! Fenix Nemean~! And I've got thirty-eight degrees in fuckin'~!.
Jaune: His name is Nix~. Fenix Nemean~. He's got thirty-eight degrees in fuckin~.
Jaune: Ruby started singing that before we started the episode, and I promptly asked her, "Is Fenix Nemean a real person?" The answer is yes. He's the lion guy from the RWBY spin-off series, The Grimm Campaign. And he's a very main character of that series. And if there is anyone who would have thirty-eight degrees in fuckin', it would be him.

Hi, yeah, I’ve got thoughts and predictions on Hades II already:
So Melinoë’s mythologically the daughter of Zeus, who had her with Persephone while disguised as Hades? That’ll be interesting.
The goddess with the pointed hat is 1000% Hecate, goddess/Titan of magic and crossroads. The dual torches thing is very much one of her symbols.
Given Hecate’s association with crossroads, the Moirai (the Fates) will likely appear in the game.
We saw Moros and Nemesis. Both are children of Nyx, representing Doom and Revenge respectively. Given Hades is in chains, Nyx has likely gone missing or has also been captured.
Given two of Nyx’s children have already been shown, I’d say there’s a good chance Eris (Strife) shows up.
Melinoë is associated strongly with the moon, so Aether and Hemera could also show up. Selene will definitely show up.
The game seems to start on the surface world, and I’m guessing it will stay that way. It avoids repeated settings, and it keeps Zagreus from showing up to help.
Since the map will be entirely on the surface, and given Cronus’ role as primary antagonist, I propose that the different bosses will be the Titans of the cardinal directions (Iapetus, Hyperion, Coeus, and Crius).
If the bosses are the cardinal Titans, then the cardinal wind gods may also appear: Boreas, Zephyrus, Notus, and Eurus.
The midstage NPCs will be some of the imprisoned Titans, like Atlas and Prometheus.
If Prometheus appears, Pandora may as well, since she was the wife of Prometheus’ brother, Epimetheus.
The Hecatoncheires will show up as a miniboss, since they’re siblings to the Titans. Same with the Cyclopes.
The first game had Cerberus and the Hydra in it. This game will have their siblings: the Chimera, the Sphinx, and the Nemean Lion.

Heracles 9: Enslaved to Omphale
After his labors, Heracles attempts to court Iole, daughter of King Eurytus, that he be might beget new children.  But, after defeating the king and princes in an archery contest, Heracles is refused her hand because of the previous murders of his wife and sons. Going into a fit of rage at the refusal, Heracles throws the king from a tower to his death.
Becoming cursed with disease from the murder, and after failed purification rituals, Heracles steals the Temple of Delphi’s tripod creating a conflict with Apollo, forcing Zeus to intervene with a thunderbolt. The oracle advises that Heracles sell himself into slavery, with the payment going to the sons of King Eurytus. Heracles agrees, becoming enslaved to Queen Omphale of Lydia, and is forced to wear women’s clothing and perform domestic tasks like spinning wool and cleaning for three years. During these years Heracles vanquishes the regions brigands, and Omphale impressed by the feats, frees him and becomes his second wife.
This fascinating version of Heracles stealing the Delphic Tripod and the conflict with Apollo, comes from Apollodorus. While tripods were typically used to hold cauldrons of water or oil, The Delphic tripod, being the seat of the oracle, held special significance as a symbol of the connection between mortals and gods. Tripods were also used as trophies for the winners of the Pythian games, who were said to be favored by Apollo.
This subversive scene with Omphale shows Heracles humiliated and stripped of his masculine symbols, the Nemean Lion hide and his war club, in exchange for women’s clothes and a distaff (tool for spinning). This stage of a male hero’s journey is what Joseph Campbell deems the “meeting with the goddess” where a male hero achieves a balance by recognition or integration of feminine energy (intuition, sensitivity, empathy) into their psyche, and what psychologist Carl Jung refers to as the Anima.
Thanks for looking and reading, and retagging my art Tumblrs! xoxo

With the amount they name dropped Heracles in the original Hades game I was genuinely convinced he was gonna be an alternate boss to Theseus similar to the Furies, the Nemean Lion would’ve been a good Asterius replacement
So I’m HOPING that he’s a boss in Hades II. And ngl I was kinda hoping our home hero would’ve been Jason or Aeneas but I guess Odysseus is fine jfdlkn

Aelius Aristides, in his encomium of the well in the Pergamene Asclepieion, refers to Asclepius as 'gentlest and most loving of mankind’ of the gods (praotatos te kai philanthropotatos). And such a character is strongly conveyed in practice by the later fourth-century BC Epidaurian miracle inscriptions: here he is ever a gentle, merciful, and good-humoured god, always ready to answer a sincere petition. He cures a child for the price of his toy dice, and laughs with him. A man who comes only for relief of his headaches is not only cured in his sleep but also taught a pancration move at the same time that allows him to go on and win the Nemean games. He is not too proud to mend even a broken cup. The god is happy to stretch the definition of healing rather further than this too in finding lost items and people, including a boy who has contrived to swim into a cave accessible only underwater. He is ready to cure even those who initially disbelieve in or actually scoff at his powers, though he then exacts a moderate additional compensation for doing so: one man is asked to dedicate a silver pig, another is required henceforth to bear the name Apistos, ‘Unbeliever’. Those who try to cheat him of his modest reward receive only provisional or jocular punishments: the affliction is temporarily restored; a tattoo is mysteriously drawn; a fishmonger’s stocks are cooked with a thunderbolt—small prices indeed to pay for sacrilege.

See You There, in the Storm Snippet:
It’s not that Liam thinks that he’s a better fighter.
No, not after the incident with Stiles and his Jeep, ending with Liam strung upside from a oak branch.
Being the freshman of the group, he’s only heard stories from the others; a camp filled with demigods. Training fields, armory’s, weapons , talking horses?
Kira tries to include him when they all fall back into the mythological topics, smiling sweetly as she explains the forgotten details, Stiles snapping his fingers at Malia when she denies that her team lost some game last year. She bares her teeth in a very displeased smile which is more a scowl, Scott rolls his eyes as he passes Liam his plate of remaining fries. Lydia seems to appear out of nowhere as she slaps his hands a few times until he’s moving his arms away from his papers.
“Move that x over to the 35, divide it from there. Don’t forget to square it.”
He flicks his eyes over the slanted rows of calculations, and of course he’s tripped over a step, grabs his pencil again after he stuffs a handful of cold fries in his mouth.
“Thanks, Lydia.”
He manages, as Scott’s elbow jabs into his side and they shift along the table’s bench, a space forming for the red head to drop into.
It’s not that he doesn’t appreciate this, them. The easy atmosphere, the helpful assistance for this damn math, but it’s definitely not what he’d expected.
They’re freaking demigods, right? What’s the point of doing algorithms, or going through the freaking long ass process of even getting into a college, when they have to worry about literal man eating monsters hunting them down.
Kira had dealt with a Nemean Lion just last week, had crashed through the campus’s parking lot with just a few vehicles getting caught as collateral damage. A blue Nissan having it’s windshield collapsed in, two pickups now having sister slashes trailing across their beds, a unsuspecting trash bin now a crumpled heap of metal.
She’d only walked away distraught that she missed half of literature 2.0, a bit disappointed that he’d chipped her favorite sword. One of the seven she keeps in her car, the satchel of tools crafted to perfectly reshape mystic metal.
Scott had offered his help instantly, irises of his eyes blinking a sunny yellow as Kira beamed at him. Both hunching over the steel pieces, his tanned hand hovering an inch over the now searing bright sword. Malia standing at the door of the bathroom with a blistering aura that had anyone keeping their heads down, an imposing figure if not for the lanky brunette pacing back and forth at her side, hands dancing to their own rhyme and reason. She nods, maybe grunts a few times as he lists the courses he’s gonna be fighting for a seat in next semester, voice raising in his hysterics. Their phones flickering to life when a spree of sharply worded texts land in their group chat, a red head deeply concerned about the blanket of trash that now litters over her gleaming scarlet convertible.
And Liam. Well, he kinda just flitted at the corners, weather it was scrambling out of the way of hell bent Malia or trying to ask Stiles how he can help, his responses are typically the same.
“Yeah, appreciate the offer, but fucking get down before your guts end up on the floor of the library.”
Harsh maybe, but that’s just Malia’s go to. Not that the same sentiment isn’t repeated by the others, years ahead in all their combat skills.
But, he’s apparently the son of the literal lighting bolt god. He should be doing more.
Liam just kinda thinks that a bit of training would be beneficial.
——
Subject to change, just testing out a voice for Liam. Listing out the gods for the pack.

Hi I’m curious. iAre there any widely spread/major festivals /celebrations in Hellenic Polytheisms like there is for Judaism (Hanukkah) and Christianity (Christmas)
thank you! have a great day!
Hello!
It's difficult to compare it like this since ancient Greek festivals were often characteristic to certain regions or poleis, so for example a festival which might've been celebrated all throughout the region of Attica might've not been celebrated in another region.
However, some festivals were considered to be panhellenic, meaning people from all throughout the ancient Greek world would participate in them. They were called the Panhellenic Games:
Olympic Games
Pythian Games
Nemean Games
Isthmian Games
On a side note, the Attic calendar is often used by modern Hellenic polytheists in reference to festivals, so I assume celebrating the festivals marked in the said calendar is rather popular nowadays. This of course does not mean every Hellenic polytheist engages in all these celebrations but they're probably the most popular.

I was seeing the comment of an anonymous person and I would like to ask some questions, by the way, thank you very much for the translations, I love the lilac special quest and the other Valentine's quests and the new event!!
1) how do urban legends work?, how do they exist in their home world but not in tokyo?, where did oz come from if zo is the nemean lion itself?
2) how do you see the characters of live a hero? you said they were slightly different from housamo in what way, and what makes the game more serious than the above?
Welcwelc! 💕✨
-I'm honestly not sure how the the urban legends work beyond Oscar having something to do with their existences. In the case of Oz and Zo, their research file says that they're both from Olympus, but were two separate entities (Oz likely being another lion slain by Heracles). I think the Wizard of Oz theming only came after Oscar assigned that role to him. Zo did mention in the Twilight Pool event that he and Oz were combined because their status as an urban legend made it difficult to exist as a lone entity or something like that?
-It's weird to explain. I guess in comparison to Housamo's current events, it feels like you get more time to delve into a character because there's not as many opportunities to distract from it. Everyone isn't as MC obsessed or hornby (for now) as they are in Housamo, so it just feels like most of these characters have normal relationships with MC with no other implications. There's also the fact that LAH MC gets treated differently than the Housamo MC by the other characters because they're an adult. Once again, weird to explain. There's just something different to me.
I don't know if LAH is more serious than Housamo since they cover similar things, but I guess LAH is more blatant about certain things. At least in the Japanese version, they might decide to be vague about or remove things in the English version later on (RIP Balor's support of underaged drinking 😔).
LWs being weird about Astaroth's gender identity since they're implied to be transfem, but they still call them a guy in-game while they're blatant about Sui being mtf and dealing with transphobia. Not even addressing that Nüwa started the war over misogyny and being sexually harassed while being blatant about Crowne dealing with misogynists in her field and almost being sexually assaulted.

As much as I adore this gift, I wonder, my love, if you fully understand the significance of what you've given me?
It seems celery held a distinct and strange place in ancient Greek culture. For reasons unknown, the dead were typically buried crowned with celery wreaths. Arrangements of celery were considered the most tender gift that could be given to show love for the deceased.
Perhaps it's due to the fact that in those times celery hadn't grown as sweet and palatable as it has been bred to be today. In fact, the Greeks used a specific word of theirs to describe it: chthonic, meaning associated with the underworld and death.
Over time, the ideas of death and celery became culturally inseperable.
But the symbolism of celery grows more complex - after all, it was the plant woven into wreaths for the original victors of the famous Isthmian games in 582 BC. Symbols of triumph, of pride. Symbols marking the victors of the games as the most god-like of the humans. The closest to perfection.
Pliny the Elder wrote that the winners of the sacred Nemean games also wore wreaths of celery in 573 BC. The very same philosopher considered celery a taboo unless it was served at a funeral service.
Darling, what is it that you truly offer me - death? Or victory? The nature of death is permanent - if it can be reversed, it is merely a deep sleep. Victory lives unchanged forever, in the stories of both the winners and the losers.
Both have one thing in common, and that is eternity.
