This piece encapsulates the combination of realism and abstraction that emerges in my work. This contrast, to me, represents the chaos and contrast that I experience daily - I have a fairly calm exterior self.
Through expressive brushwork and pallet knife strokes, I portray my inner world where autism, ADHD, and BPD find visual expression.
Mixed media is so fun for me. This painting was created with acrylic paint, oil paint, various acrylic texture and effects mediums, oil pastel, watercolour, POSCA pens, and dried flowers/leaves.
I'm honestly really proud of and attached to this painting. I was in many different states of mind throughout its creation which I feel really shows in the finished painting (unfortunately my camera doesn't pick up all of the details due to how busy this painting is), however I am open to selling this piece.

"Composure"
(A Tone You Can't Tune Out)
I've been trying to post this for months, but things keep on happening, so I kept having to postpone it lol
ID and transcript under the cut!<3
[ID: A poem typed up on blank sheet music, the words on the lines of the staff as if written on lined paper. The title and subtitle are in a cursive font, while the rest is in a typewriter font. End of ID.]
Poem transcript:
Composure
(A Tone You Can't Tune Out)
praisethelamps - 7/12/23
Trembling, I sit down to write
Lyrics again,
To compose myself.
Unsteady hands
Act slowly,
Unready for
The drying ink.
When questioned on it,
Just remember:
It's no one's problem, so,
Act cold.
Play a song in major key,
A simple, crescendoing melody,
No love nor joy's found in its contents,
But something resembling contentment.
When questioned, pretend
Not to notice you tremors,
Like a sick dog.
Act cold.
A tone you can't tune out
Of somber harmonies,
In solemn symphonies
Sung softly in one ear.
Today, I compose
Careful prose,
Scrapping old letters,
And rewriting all the notes.
(End of transcript)

ear protection is a must-!!
here's Star with no tech noise canceling headphones - we wear our headphones or earbuds pretty much 24/7 and that's okay. sounds causes us a lot of anxiety and sounds can LITERALLY hurt us. earplugs, ear defenders and noise canceling earbuds and headphones are okay. sadly we cannot wear headphones 24/7 cause we get headaches and pain in our ears and head so we switch from headphones to noise canceling earbuds when we start feeling ill but we like the pressure of the headphones so we like that more.
stay safe and wear those headphones! - Allison
