Solar Return Observations💋❤️🌹

💋This year I have a Virgo Ascendant in my solar return along with 2 Venus returns and Ive been so much more health/beauty focused. Like I care more about myself and am trying to break bad habits that I made in 2023. Im also alot more driven in sports/goals and back when I had this in 2020 I was also into skincare and makeup alot too and was into running and working out. I feel like the year you get a virgo ascendant for your solar return is the year to cleanse bad habits that youve made in the previous year its like a chance to start new.

💋The year you have Uranus in the 11th house is most likely a year where you will lose friends but will also get the chance to make new ones. I had Uranus and North Node in my 11th house last year and my 3 year long friend who claimed we were “besties” backstabbed me and cut me off with no explanation BUT I also found a friendgroup who are here to stay and am incredibely blessed to have met them. This was a year where my view on society and people changed significantly but i feel it was for the better.

💋Last year I had Sun and Pluto in the 8th house along with Moon and Mars in the 12th. I struggled really bad with my mental health(also a Gemini Rising) and my whole personality shifted from these experiences. From January my grandma almost died of cancer, I faced unrequited love, bullying from “friends”, losing friends, and overall felt pressure from school. I was just sensitive to what people said about me and let little things bother me and now that Im looking back none of it was a big deal but I dont know in the moment it affected me way too much. It made me realize that you cant ever really put your faith in people and that you need to trust and respect yourself the most. That you cant be attached to people and your faith should be put in god (atleast thats what I think). Most of the pain came from lowself esteem and I do believe that these placements made me grow a thicker skin and to become more independant. Im a completely different person now and while I did lose my innocence to the world I feel that I can survive on my own now. I guess I just grew a backbone which im really thankful for.

💋Everything that happened last year (like growth transformation death) is all related to the 8th house which is where gemini is in my natal so also keep that in mind where your solar ascendant falls in your natal.

💋This year I have a Moon in Libra in the 1st house and a Virgo Lilith exactly conjunct my ascendant and Ive been getting so much praise from woman its weird? Weirdly guys have been liking my instagram stories and when I posted on my birthday so many people came and viewed my story who dont even follow me. I also feel more pretty and empowered this year and Ive been trying to figure out how I want to present myself more. Compared to last year I feel like I am more upfront with my feelings. I feel like this year I might not struggle as much since im a Libra Ascendant and my solar return is Virgo and almost aligns with my natal chart.

💋My sadness and pain from my 2023 solar return actually really did last until my birthday aka my 2024 return😭 So keep in note that solar returns will remain effective until your next birthday.

💋I have Pluto, Mars, Sun, Vertex, Mercury, and POF, all in the 5th house this year and Im really hoping I can finally meet someone to date for the first time but so far its manifested as being more interested in hobbies/ having fun. Im not complaining tho I actually have been so much happier and I havent cried that much at all from this new Solar Return. I will say I feel like having Pluto in the 5th house will make your view change a bit on relationships. I lost feelings for my 3 year crush and I also feel like its impossible for me to properly catch feelings now. I dont know its like I broke the cycle of infatuting crushes and am way more realistic when it comes to love. Part of it is probably just me getting older but I think thats a good thing. I dont expect love like the movies anymore but i just want something REAL.

Near that time Iwas having so much fun with my friends in cross country I feel so fond about those days that I could never forget.

💋 Last year having a Gemini Rising but placements like Mars and Moon in the 12th made me get talked about unknowingly behind my back so keep that in mind. Girls secretly hated me and also one of my “friends” twisted my words and spread drama about me.

Welcome to the Shadow of the Eclipse

October 4-31, 2023

Some introductory notes

The “shadow of the eclipse” is a time period lasting from 10 days before the first eclipse, to three days after the final eclipse. It is recommended not to start anything new, or schedule anything important, during these days - as usual I refer everyone to the 1981 wedding of Lady Diana Spencer to the Prince of Wales, as an example.

Of course we live in a place/time which scoffs at letting astrology help with the timing of events - therefore don’t lose hope if something falls unavoidably within the eclipse shadow. Just be prepared.

I wanted to take a more thorough approach to delineation, this time. I hope it’s helpful.

South Node Solar Eclipse

A solar eclipse happens when the New Moon lies close (in the Zodiac) to either the North Lunar Node, or to the South one. It occurred to me to do a little research on whether which Node is involved, makes any difference - and yes, it does.

Astrologers call the South Node “the dragon’s tail” - Steven Forrest calls the South Node, “the dragon’s butt” - because here we are “pooping out” what we don’t need and can’t use. (One person’s poop, however, is another person’s fertilizer.)

Eclipses conjunct the South Lunar Node, like the October 14 one, have an outflowing (outpooping?) of energy. They tend to feature external events which we have to “rise up to.”

Going down that list was a very uncomfortable trip down memory lane for me. When those South Node eclipses affected me, it was generally a harbinger of some difficult “external event” which I had little to no control over - which is not the same thing as saying “it wasn’t my fault.” I brought some of it on myself due to bad decisions. Some karma chickens coming home to roost, in other words. Not all of them were dire, though. One in particular gave me something of a respite from what had been happening in my life - it was conjunct my natal 12th House cusp.

Saros Series “7 South”

This eclipse is part of Saros Series “7 South.” Bernadette Brady writes,

The individual experiencing this series will find that huge obstacles will suddenly and easily clear or, on the negative side, a pending potential crisis will suddenly manifest and move through his or her life very rapidly. Either way the individual will feel that everything is moving at great speed. (The Eagle and the Lark)

Whatever Shall We Do?

1) Determine which of your natal houses this eclipse falls in.

2) Determine whether the eclipse makes an aspect to anything in your chart. Use a 1° orb. In my case, the conjunctions, squares, sesquiquads (135°), inconjuncts, and oppositions made the most obvious impacts.

3) If there is a close aspect to a planet, check to see which house(s) that planet rules. One South Node eclipse was conjunct the ruler of my natal 4th House, and I moved three months later.

4) Avoid strenuously negative thoughts. If you put a lot of energy into anticipating that something is going to be horrible and painful and disastrous, well, guess what - that’s exactly what’s going to happen. If you catch yourself falling into a panic, try to refocus the energy into “the best possible outcome.”

aries: let them say what they will about the debility of venus in aries. when she graces your sign beginning this week you will know the truth of all that; let her make you more beautiful, more loving.

taurus: for most taureans this is going to be an emotionally bumpy week with probably some impactful occurrences. the bright side here is that a roller coaster has its ups and downs; if you fall you'll inevitably bounce back up, and if you let yourself be flexible, the intensity of the fall can contribute to a higher bounce. so enjoy the ups! and hopefully whatever impacts occur are for good things.

gemini: it's a busy and chatty week for mercury-ruled people everywhere. you may feel a little ill at ease in conversation and yet feel the need to push your opinions a bit. this is fine as long as you can stay civil with it!

cancerians: the pisces new moon is great for you. if you're a cancer rising this is in or near your 9th house (depending on your preferred house system) and if you are a cancer sun it will be near a trine with that! all this means a great flowing of spiritual intelligence. so let it in. give yourself to a bit of study for extra good fortune.

leo: this week can have you feeling like a cancerian. it's emotional and absolutely steeping in lunar vibes as well as nodal vibes. let yourself be emotionally intimate with someone you can trust. maybe that's yourself?

virgo: which of your commitments are you ready to change? or which ones are you willing to introduce where you had no partnership before? a long-term relationship experiences a bit of a storm at sea. batten down the hatches. its survival depends on your spiritual involvement.

libra: venus enters your 7th house. valentine's day is pretty long since passed but this puts the hearts back in your eyes. you may be romanticizing everything but that is *okay!* actually it is quite auspicious. it is also okay to be a little less passive while venus is here.

scorpio: sometimes the lines between what is a relationship and what is just fun get blurry, but no one is better than you at simply not caring about this. which is applicable this week, as other people may be confused about your position in your life. whatever they end up calling you, you know what matters to you and that its name doesn't alter the impact.

sagittarius: focus on your home life and set a new intention about your home base, even if it means you intend to become a fullblown nomad or move across the world. at the same time, a consistent santuary might be nice. take creative steps to start your process to get there, wherever it is.

capricorn: your keyword this week is rejuvenation. you can work but take it easy on anything that doesn't make you feel alive. if you're feeling tired or burnt out you're doing it wrong.

aquarius: prepare yourself for potential unexpected expenses, the possibility of family secrets emerging, or the sudden need to re-evaluate what truly matters to you in life. the last is at least something you have some control over.

pisces: most important for you personally this week is the new moon in your sign whose effects you probably already feel. this gives you a boost to your already great powers of manifestation so don't let the opportunity pass to set some strong intentions about yourself.

The stars are combining their energies to give us a powerful blend of energies. During this time we have the moon in Virgo, a new moon, and Mercury going direct. Understanding these energies and how to use them can help us to manifest our desires, gain clarity, and cultivate healthy relationships.

The moon in Virgo brings attention to detail and analytical energy. The energies can help us focus on examining situations or problems that have been haunting us in great detail rather than taking things at face value, to gain greater clarity, and understand the intricacies of what you are dealing with.

The new moon brings fresh beginnings, hope, and optimism. You can use this energy to leave behind the old and create space for the new - to begin something new or to set new intentions. Keep your mind and heart open to new opportunities and allow hope and optimism to motivate you to manifest.

Mercury going direct will help you move towards clarity and consciousness in communication. This energy is a good time to express yourself and to think about what you want to say before speaking. Refrain from judging and over-analyzing forms of communication and that will lead the way to being more aware of your thoughts and to remain open to truly open communication.

July 2023 Important Dates

AKA my notes on The Astrology Podcast's July Forecast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfLydVGC0Zk Today's episode is hosted by Chris Brennan, Austin Coppock, and Kira Sutherland.

June recap: Apple announces VR headset (Saturn in Pisces/Pluto in Aquarius) allows you to control the degree of AR involved. Also Saturn in Pisces are some nautical tragedies: the high-profile incident where a submersible full of millionaires was crushed under the ocean--with Saturn we often lament the walls or obstacles we run into, but in this case the boundary wasn't strong enough, and the 300/600 Pakistani refugees who drowned off the coast of Greece. Speaking of the wrath of the sea god, there were also orcas attacking commercial boats. More water-related Saturn news: on June 14th astronomers released a paper with evidence of phosphorous, one of the building blocks of life, on Saturn's moon Enceladus. Jupiter joined Uranus in Taurus, and two producers of lab-grown meat have now been approved for sale to consumers in the US--where Uranus messes with money & food, and Jupiter confirms/makes lawful some of these developments. Then there's the mutiny of the Wagner unit of the Russian military definitively undermining the current powers that be there. This occurred close to the Mars-Uranus square, and is connected to Saturn stationing. Austin says this is a precursor to the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, a combination which has corresponded to major events in Russian history like the dissolution of the USSR in 1991, the Russian Revolution, the assassination of Alexander II. He compares it to Uranus in Gemini for the United States in terms of a aspect that will show you the major turning points for the nation. This aspect is going to take place over a 5-year period rather than 2 or 3, so it will take some time to manifest.

We're entering the month off a Sun-Mercury conjunction in Cancer, Venus & Mars are moving through the last decan of Leo together, Jupiter is building up to a conjunction with Uranus in Taurus (which will be within 10 degrees by the end of the month), Saturn rx is at 7Pisces, about to move back to 6. And of course, much of this month will be building up to Venus retrograde.

July 1st - Sun-Mercury Conjunction (Cazimi)

July 3rd - Full Moon in Capricorn

There's a trine between the the Moon (11Capricorn) and Jupiter (9Taurus), a kind of supportive counterbalance to the Venus-Uranus square that is still within a degree of exactness. It may not be flashy, but it's stable. Venus-Uranus may want us to make lots of change, but getting some space might be the best course of action here. Kira suggests paying attention to our nervous systems with Uranus and describes it as "itchy"--lay off the stimulants and go for soothing herbal teas and magnesium-rich foods. Kira points out Venus is also associated with copper, which has a sort of seesaw relationship with zinc in the body, and suggests zinc-rich foods as well, especially because zinc can help the immune system, which is also affected by stress.

July 10th - Mars enters Virgo This is a major shift, as this sets him up to oppose Saturn (exact July 20th-21st). Mars in Virgo is a great time to make small, systematic adjustments over time. Virgo loves routines--don't try to overhaul everything at once; have a plan to build up your endurance for climbing up the mountains. Mars in Virgo breaks things down into smaller pieces well. More under Mars opposite Saturn.

July 11th - Mercury enters Leo

July 17th - New Moon in Cancer

The New Moon at 24Cancer is opposite to Pluto at 29Capricorn--time to reflect on the ~15 years we've had of Pluto in Capricorn. This Sun-Pluto opposition is building up at the same time as the Mars-Saturn opposition. Keywords involve power struggles, especially old ones as we're revisiting the sign Pluto just left. There's more to be done and tidied up. Thinking of The Crab's shell, what more do you need to create to protect yourself? Themes of protection and the home may arise. There's also a fairly close sextile to Uranus (22Taurus) which may help us think outside the box. With Uranus in Taurus pointing to rising interest rates/financial insability and the luminaries in Cancer shining light on our homes, it may also be a time to think about our homes. Pluto in Capricorn has historically corresponded to low interest rates. Pluto has also been showing us the incresing wealth disparity both domestically and globally. Imagining a hermit crab with its home on its back, we may be able to at least identify our most vulnerable points & reinvest in how to be safer. The Sun is also right at the bendings of the nodes, who themselves are at 29Aries/Libra. Venus retrograde is soon to arrive as well.

July 20th - Mars Opposes Retrograde Saturn Mars and Saturn represent two different extremes: hot and cold, fast and slow. Austin describes this as grim competence & doing what needs to be done. Think relentlessness. But be careful and don't push yourself too hard--this is the classic placement for accidentally hurting yourself doing workouts, for example. We feel like we're stuck in one direction and can't stop going in the other but, remember, pace yourself and it'll happen eventually. Chris also points out that this is a placement of limits and breaking points--sometimes we push our limits to find new ones, but we may also snap like a rubber band. Austin says to push 110% mentally, but only 80% physically. Pace yourself.

The Pisces/Virgo axis gives us big picture vs. small picture, or seeing the forest for the trees. Saturn in Pisces has a big, weighty, but unclear goal, and Mars and Virgo can give us the one, small, doable task each day that brings us closer to that goal. With two unyielding planets Austin compares this aspect to getting two ingredients which are each toxic on their own, but which together can form a medicine--you just need to put in the work. Even if we do run up against our limits, though, Mars will get some support from a trine to Jupiter around the end of the month (July 31st-August 1st), especially with two earth signs stabilizing and grounding us. We're feeling the benefits of our two weeks' hard work almost immediately afterwards.

July 22nd - Sun enters Leo, Venus stations Retrograde Venus retrogrades often indicate turning points in our lives, especially with respect to relationships and creativity. We'll have 40 days and 40 nights of introspection on this subject. These experiences tend to pull together conflicting experiences of attraction and repulsion, the back-and-forth that leads to eventual clarity of what you like and what you don't like. The waters will get muddy along the way. Kira brings up that Venus signifies sugar in our diet, so a Venus retrograde can be a good time to adjust our diets--what pleasure foods are working for you and which aren't?

For Venus and Mercury retrogrades, the planet begins on one side of the Sun (for example, Venus is currently rising & setting before the Sun), disappears, and by the end appears on the other side of it (so she'll rise & set after the Sun). Not only does Venus cross over the Sun, she also crosses over to the other side of the ecliptic (North/South). Thus with this crossing over we can think of the link between taste and distaste--fashion trends often change during Venus rx, especially old trends which were once distasteful coming back in style. Hair trends especially may change in the sign Leo, and the dull earth tones may make way for more color. Big, wide pants and big flowy skirts may come back in as well.

We are also already in the shadow period for Venus retrograde, which began on June 19th.

"Pre-[retrograde ]shadow" refers to Venus's first pass through the degree which will later be the last point of her retrograde, in this case 12Leo12. She will station retrograde on July 22nd at 18Leo36, backtracking for about 20 days until September 3rd, where she'll station direct at that point at 12 degrees of Leo. She won't leave the post-retrograde shadow until she passes that degree at which she stationed & started going backwards (28Leo36), which happens on October 7th. At that point she'll finally start to enter new territory for the first time since lat July. Any personal placements between 12 and 28 degrees of Leo or other fixed signs will have Venus hitting that point three times over the next few months. This is one of the things that's so important about Venus retrogrades--what's normally a fairly short transit is stretched out over several months. --Venus is often depicted holding a mirror--do we like what we see when we look in the mirror? Not just in appearance, but metaphorically too. Do we like who we are in certain situations? With a bright and loud sign Leo, too, we may have revelations especially over the public and private space. Some parts of us want to be seen, some don't; different parts of us need more light and others need less. We have a feline representative of the Sun's sign as well--cats like to hang out where they can see but not be seen, and questions around visibility will definitely come up during this transit. What parts of yourself do you lead with? --As she prepares to retrograde, Venus finds herself stuck between a conjunction to Mars and a square to Uranus, but when she stations direct she'll be square Jupiter--things may start out rough but we'll definitely have some insight & freedom in the end!

Additionally, Chris has provided a Venus retrograde worksheet where we can connect it to our life events, especially the last few times she was in Leo: https://theastrologypodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/venus-retrograde-worksheet.pdf Austin points out this worksheet can also tell us which signs will actually be more impactful for us, Chris points out that sometimes it can just be a little bit of reconnecting to the past. This worksheet can help you figure out which case to expect. --Chris also brings up a recent Twitter discussion for Leo risings especially (yours truly!) as to whether to warn against doing makeovers at this time, or if it fits the symbolism well. Austin advises to experiment during the retrograde, but don't do anything permanent until she stations--not just for appearance, but relationships as well. Especially with some difficult configurations at the beginning of the retrograde, we're more likely to run into issues if we don't wait until both benefics station in contact with each other September. With a cazimi around August 12th or 13th, the second half of this retrograde should be much easier than the first half. With Leo as a youthful sign and Venus concerned with appearance, we may have themes around appearance and aging arise--Kira has had a lot of plastic surgery chart requests around this time. Questions of whether we feel good about ourselves from our appearance may arise--what can we do to affirm ourselves and our self-image? Sometimes what we see and dislike in ourselves is not actually reality; let's seek the truth. Self-knowledge is valuable as gold and even more difficult to mine. And how does one know oneself but through the other? Feeling authentic about yourself is also a big theme at this time. Health is physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. (Look to the house Venus transits to see where this may manifest most.)

July 27th - Mercury conjunct Retrograde Venus

July 28th - Mercury enters Virgo Although this is the sign of both his domicile and exaltation, there's a lot of work for him to do there, as his copresence to one malefic and opposition to the other puts some pressure on him. Things may be more soluble, not easy. We may have more ideas on how to deal with the Mars-Saturn opposition, but both planets will continue to weigh on him. He'll retrograde in Virgo later in August, and earlier that same month he'll oppose Saturn, so we'll be revisiting some of these themes.

July 30th - Electional chart (not pictured)

This chart is at about 6:35AM local time; adjust until the Ascendant is about 13 degrees of Leo. This is a day chart just after sunrise, with the Sun in domicile in Leo and in the first whole sign house. The Sun is applying to a square with Jupiter (13Taurus) in the 10th whole sign house, making this a pretty good chart for career matters. The Moon in Capricorn is applying to a trine with Jupiter, affirming our endeavors all day. Mercruy is in domcile & exaltation in Virgo; if you can try to get the Midheaven around 3Taurus so it can trine the Moon and mitigate her 6th house position, and so it can trine Mercury as well to mitigate his 2nd house position. Although Venus is retrograde in the 1st house, slowing things down, she still brings a positive influence. This is a good general chart for starting a range of endeavors, as are other times later in the month once Mars & Saturn have cleared their opposition.

Overall, July's manageable, but not mellow. With Venus retrograde and Mars opposite Saturn, we've got a couple helpings of things to handle. You can still go out, but keep your seatbelt on when you drive and wear a helmet on your bike.

Feb 9 - New Moon in Aqua

Mars (feb 13) and venus (feb 16) will join mercury and pluto in aqua this month. This further highlights feb is a relationship month. Mars brings potential for low patience and agressive energy. But mars paired with venus energy can create passion. This is a good time for relationships that are doing well.

Mar 10 - New Moon in Pisces

In your 8th, you could have an increased focus of other’s and their resources. With mars entering pisces on mar 22, you could have heightened awareness to what makes others angry, passionate and overall psychology. You may even gain insight on yourself.

Mar 25 - Lunar Eclipse in Libra

This is an ending in relation to 3rd house topics. For some, this is as simple as parting ways with an old form of transportation. A change in community or neighbours.

However, since the south node has been here since July 17 2023 (and will stay here until Jan 28, 2025) some may currently see their siblings or cousins a lot less. This could be due to them changing and becoming new versions of themselves.

Things that began in October 2023 may end or become fruitful now as well.

April 1-25 Aries Mercury in retrograde

You can expect miscommunication and clerical inconvenience in regards to travel or university. This is the house of religion too meaning some may question their higher beliefs. You may struggle to put your beliefs into words.

Don’t let retrogrades stress you out. Think of it as mercury double checking everything is in order. If all has been well scheduled and structured in this area, everything will be fine. If you have some blind spots, they will show themselves.

And stereotypically, retrogrades are the time people from the past may show themselves. Maybe just in thought or dream, but they or you could want to reach out. However, since this is the 9th house, if you’re natal doesn’t indicate it, not likely the transit manifests as your ex coming back.

April 8 - Solar Eclipse in Aries

When this occurs, mercury will be in retro in aries and chiron, venus + north node will be in aries. This makes April a real 9th house focused month. Quite possible some of you may be travelling. Your trip may heal you in some ways. A much needed break. But with mercury in retro, try your best to not allow other’s to ruin your trip.

For those who aren’t going on a trip, this could be related to higher education. Uni, religious beliefs and faith. You could find opportunity to show your knowledge ex: being recognized as an educated person. You could begin to learn about a new topic that will later show itself to have been signifiant in bringing you to your life’s true purpose/lesson.

April 20 - Jupiter + Uranus conjunct in Taurus

2023 New moon 01/23 in Aquarius and how to manifest with it

+ Notes on transits

The New Moon happens on January 21, at 1 degrees of Aquarius. Aquarius means higher dreams/ideals, inspiration, humanitarianism, community action and engagement. It’s also friends, groups, and networks. The sun, the moon, Saturn and Venus will be all in air signs.

The universe is helping us with this energy to make our manifestations real if we have a deeper commitment based on our thoughts, beliefs and actions and in alignement with our words of affirmations.

First and foremost this new moon will bring a great energy for major Aquarius placements such as : sun, moon and rising. Also mercury, mars and venus on their specific area (communication, determination, love/relationships).
