i’m currently revamping my supernatural fic and now i’m working on a new edit for izzy that features ocs that are either new or has been changed, so i thought i’d make a post of all the things i’ve changed, added and kept the same on the art of running so far!! (and a bit unrelated but if you sent me an ask, i promise i’m working on it!! i just got a ton of them in my inbox and it’s taking me a while to get through all of them <3)

CHANGES;

instead of a twin sister named evangeline ‘eva’ hayes (played by jenna coleman), izzy now has a twin brother named jerome ‘jerry’ hayes (played by tyler hoechlin)

her older sister eleanor ‘ellie’ hayes is now named victoria ‘vicky’ madden but is still played by sophia bush

her dad ivan hayes, played by jon hamm, is now named jeremiah hayes and played by julian mcmahon

her mom elizabeth ‘lizzy’ hayes is now played by alyssa milano (still dead tho)

lizzy has two sisters instead of one, which are victoria ‘tori’ scott (played by holly marie combs) and rosalind ‘sally’ scott (played by shannen doherty) and tori is also dead </3

the angel abiel / abbie is now played by tala ashe instead of ana de armas

izzy’s fic series the everlasting series is now named the love and war saga, and there are now five books instead of three

my connected supernatural fic series is now named damnation of the damned instead of fall of the aegis

NEW;

madison ricci (played by melanie scrofano) is now the love interest for sam instead of laurel barnes

madi has a younger sister named alison (played by dominique provost-chalkley) and she will be paired with charlie

(not exactly new but) sarah young (played by jessica parker kennedy) is sam’s romantic soulmate, but she’s gay (for gail miller (played by shelley hennig) specifically, who is indenial about her attraction to women and also has a ✨friendly✨ rivalry with izzy)

reggie weir (played by grey damon) is a witch who reached out to izzy after she succumbed to dark magic in s2 and encouraged her to stay on that track & izzy basically cheated on dean with him although she was not entirely herself

vicky is married and has a little boy, but her husband will probably die (or is already dead) so she’s paired with cas

jerry will probably be paired with jo

ugh there’s definitely way more but i cannot think of all of them rn afajshjs

SAME;

knox taylor (brenton thwaites) is still the one that got away

violet barnes (teresa palmer) is still the detrimental ex

laurel barnes (claire holt) is still the stuck-up bitch (that may or may not be paired with adam milligan)

poppy barnes (britt robertson) is still the unwanted babysitter (that will probably be paired with jack)

lol basically everything else is the same, unless i forgot about something sfgsgd

NON-LIVEPLAY GAMES, MARCH 2163 - ‘Double Trouble’

OBJECTIVE: “DOUBLE TROUBLE” is a LAST TWO STANDING, ‘Hunger Games’ style game and will commence at sunrise. Survivors will begin the game as every individual for themselves, at the edge of the gaming grounds. When the starting horn sounds, survivors may choose to take a chance at The Hoard for weapons and resources, or head straight for the woods. Forming alliances is recommended, but remember, alliances are temporary and can change.

TEAMS: None. 1 vs. All, Personal Alliances only.

WEAPONS: This game will include ALL COLONY-APPROVED TRAINING WEAPONRY. Players begin the game without arms, but may obtain them at The Hoard or at hidden caches around the gaming grounds.

*HIT LIMIT: 1 *KILL LIMIT: 1

KILL PROTOCOL: SURRENDER; Participants who reach Kill Limit are immediately eliminated and must report back to the games staging area.

ADDITIONAL RULES AND INFO:

⚒The game will commence in a clearing at the edge of the gaming grounds, with the treeline ahead (NE). In the clearing, to the SE, will be The Hoard, a large resource and weapon supply. At the start of play, participants may choose to run for it first, or bypass it and head to safety.

⚒Personal alliances may consist of 2 to 5 participants from any house. They must never exceed 5 players. Alliances are based on an honour system; there are no official rules against targeting an ally.

⚒’Sponsor Kits’ can be found hidden throughout the grounds. If an individual receives a hit but has a Sponsor Kit, they may use it to remain in the game. Sponsor Kits are metal cylinders about ten inches long and 3 inches in diameter, and contain a cloth bandage which can be tied at or around the point of the recent hit. Sponsor Kits are one time use only; when the seal is broken, a vial of dye will shatter and soak into the white bandage to indicate its use.

⚒The winning pair may be from the same house, or different houses. Throughout the game, an individual’s achieved kills earn points towards their respective houses, and the winners will get to keep these for their house, plus an extra 250 points. In the case of winners from two different houses, both houses will receive their respective earned house points, plus 250 for the win.

⚒All PDD messaging capabilities have been disabled for the Games. They function only to receive notifications.

“Bloodbath” - the First Hour

When the horn blares, about half the games participants head straight for the cover of the trees, while the others book it to The Hoard: the huge weapons stash in the clearing. Charlie Essex and JR are among this group. JR gets there first, quickly holstering two handguns, and is about to go for some grenades, when Charlie waves at him with a supply backpack in hand and they both run off. It’s not until they get deeper into the gaming grounds that they realize Charlie’s ‘bag of supplies’ is woefully empty.

Back at the weapon stash, it’s still pandemonium. Draco Pavlović gives Mei Zhu Fitrei a bloody nose in a scuffle over a sniper gun. Alexander Donovan finds Annie Perrault hyperventilating behind a weapons rack, white knuckling a bow. He shoves a quiver into her hands and tells her to run, watching her back as she nervously complies. Meanwhile, Felix Turner and Rosalind Stein nearly collide going for the same bag of supplies. Rose is confident she can easily overpower Felix, until he starts literally shrieking like a maniacal banshee. His wordless wail makes for such an alarming scene, that she opts just to retreat.

Underdogs, Constantin Lupei and Adrien Bennett decide they’ll start off the hour strong, and team up to ambush the next pair of people they see… which turn out to be Mei Zhu and Alex. This backfires dramatically, and Costin and Ajay are among the first half dozen players eliminated. Angel Thorne follows suit when he decides to simply walk off the gaming grounds. He is immediately disqualified.

“All for One…” - Hour 2

Hour two is the time to start forming alliances. Lake Valentine is travelling with Lissy McCall and Annie Perrault, but he dooms them all when he accidentally sets off an InertiaShell. They are all caught in the red vapour and slowed to a crawl. Annie passes out from the effects of the grenade and her usual exhaustion and while trying to wake her, Lissy and Lake become very easy targets when they get attacked by Caelan Whitmer and Arvo Covey. Annie, Lissy and Lake are all eliminated.

Roy Walters hasn’t come across anyone he trusts to team up with, so resolves to lay low. He manages to steal a Sponsor Kit from Mitch Douglas when the elite isn’t looking, and then camouflages himself into some bushes. Meanwhile, Petra Starr convinces a handgun wielding Teilo Aisling not to shoot her, only to shoot him with his own weapon as soon as he agrees to the alliance. Orson Hurst, Maisie Pace, Mason Quinley and Mira Sigar come together to form an only slightly more promising lineup.

Rosalind is fashioning an illegal slingshot up in a tree when she spots wifey Josephine Parker and quickly pairs up with her. As for Charlie and JR, despite their slightly disappointing start, they’ve stuck together and take out Emmanuel Trent as their first victim.

“Acclimating” - Hour 3

Bode Lindqvist has kept to himself but has proven resourceful. He is well armed and has already found a couple of Sponsor Kits. When Koda Payne and Clayton Boyd attack him with ranged weapons, he manages to evade them and escape unscathed. Orson is much less lucky, when he is briefly separated from his group and finds a stash of grenades that apparently Dylan Meir had also had her eye on. Orson grabs a couple tilt grenades, but his nerve-damaged hands spasm, and he drops one, setting it off. With Orson briefly incapacitated by the blue vapour, Dylan has plenty of time to shoot him with an arrow, grab the rest of the grenades, and take off. Nearby, another woman is kicking some nerd-boy ass; Charlotte Williams effortlessly picks off Kip, acquiring his Sponsor Kits.

Koda and Clay try again to make an impact: they sneak up on JR and Charlie in the woods, only this time, they’ve thought it through and have set up traps in the area. They even manage to take out JR with a well-aimed arrow. Charlie then chases both Koda and Clay, firing his handgun as he goes. He eliminates Koda with a stim in the back, then lets off a wayward shot just as he bulldozes into one of the traps and falls to the ground. The weapon skids across the forest floor, but the last shot has caught Clay in the shoulder. Fortunately, the Delma has a Sponsor kit, which he uses to survive. He doesn’t have to go it on his own too long, however, as he runs into Corbin Ealy, who’s trying to evade a prowling Kaiser Bahr. They hide together (because fuck that noise), then decide to team up.

Left alone after Kip’s elimination, Arvo stumbles across Enoch Lynch, while he is caught in hand to hand combat with Paxton Semenyuk, and steps in to help. She and Enoch form a new alliance (which we’d like to coin ‘NET’: Newbie Elite Transfers). Alois Van Asch, on the other hand, is a bit slow on the uptake, and has been wandering the grounds somewhat aimlessly, enjoying the (mostly) quiet of the woods. At one point he is spotted just gazing at the sky.

“Imprudent Behaviour” - Hour 4

Fate, never a kind mistress, soon interferes with Bode’s chances. While he is distracted by an unfortunate issue with his hearing aids, Jo and Rosalind steal the weapons he’d set down and make a break for it. As they run, however, they encounter Dante Carrington; true to form, the Good Doctor puts rules first and disqualifies Rosalind for the illegal slingshot in her grasp. This is witnessed by Corbin and Clay, who were drawn in by the kerfuffle. Corbin reckons it would be hilarious to orchestrate an ambush against Colony 22’s biggest Tight Ass, and with Bode still nearby, it’d be like ‘taking biscuits from a baby’. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much convincing, and the three of them take Dante out without any issue.

Meanwhile, Draco climbs high up into the branches of a tree, seeking a moment to formulate a plan. Aurelia Ferris chooses this particularly inopportune time to walk by, and she doesn’t even see who shot her. Diederick D’Mornay, the perpetual gentleman, spots Anaya Dolman with a Sponsor Kit and doesn’t have any trouble liberating it from her. Emboldened by his success, he gives chase to a couple of other totally threatening Calysets: Mira and Maisie. In his hasty pursuit, he loses his footing and face-plants on the forest floor.

Unlike Ricky, Petra Starr has a little moral fortitude. Alois has grown excruciatingly bored of the Games and asks Petra, (who has now paired up with housemate, Dylan) to just shoot him so he can go the fuck back inside and sleep; obviously this wouldn’t be the same as earning an elimination and would basically be cheating, so Petra declines.

After his temporary alliance with Clay and Corbin, Bode decides to roam alone again, which backfires when Madison Vega eliminates him quickly with a sniper. Persephone Evans and her bleeding heart take a moment to tend to a small injury Cambie Andrews has sustained, but they have to run when they spot Clove Modius and Benji Imes approaching.

“Homestretch” - Hour 5

It’s the final countdown and about halfway through the fifth hour, we’re left with eight tiring finalists. Of these eight, seven of them are in two different alliances. The first such alliance is made up of Torren ladies, Ada Woollacott, Petra Starr, Dylan Meir and Charlotte Williams. The second is a group of egomaniac loudmouths: Corbin Ealy, Draco Pavlović and Diederick D’Mornay. Madison Vega is the eighth finalist, currently remaining a one-woman operation.

Catching a glimpse of Charlotte through the trees, Draco splits off from his group to chase after her, ignoring the protests from his allies. He proves himself rather too big for his boots when he catches up with Charlotte to find her not alone at all, and the team of girls take him out, Charlotte’s Angels style. Nearby and hearing the shouts, Maddie is so caught up watching her back that she steps right into a snare set hours before by Roy. With no one to come to her rescue, it’s endgame for her, too.

But time is running out, so the Charlie’s Angels gang decide to pair off to cover more ground. Petra finds Ricky vulnerable while he does a damage check from his earlier painful fall, and gets him in the back with a stim, while Charlotte manages to catch Corbin similarly unaware. Just like that, the prideful Delmas are out of the running. But while Charlotte and Petra were away steamrolling the Delma boys, Ada had immediately turned traitor, submitting Dylan with a pair of chameleons around her neck.

So naturally, when what’s left of Ada’s allies return, Ada is on the offensive. There can only be two winners, and Ada wants to make sure she’s one of them. Unfortunately for her, feral strength won’t be enough this time; she launches herself at Petra and Charlotte but is overpowered by their exceptional teamwork and clear heads. Moments later, the victory horn sounds: Charlotte and Petra have officially become an unlikely pair of winners. Between Charlotte’s congenital heart defect and Petra’s only recently recovered ankle injury, it is a victory hard-earned and well-deserved.

*Please note that though we included a small handful of NPCs in the games generator, we did not include them all, so there would obviously be plenty of other participants whose eliminations are not established in this list. If you need any NPCs for any further plotting or head canons for the games, you may reference any listed open characters/NPCs from the dorms list who fit your idea, or you may use a nameless NPC. If you are unsure, do not be afraid to reach out!

Anyways some trans Jewish Foggy headcanons if you want them:

It's his stepmom Anna who's jewish but she is very adamant that he be raised jewish because she does think of him as her child and Rosalind, his bio mom, lightly disapproves because its something she doesn't know about and can't control

(Rosalind likes control)

He comes out to his family in his early-mid teens and Anna throws him a bar mitzvah at like 15 and he has a little dweeby teen one where he's got braces and he feels too old and too young at the same time and he's nervous but yeah he's a man now

Comes out to Rosalind later, after his bar mitzvah when he can't hide it anymore and she doesn't say anything to him for a while

Rosalind also pays for his medical transition but it makes him feel indebted to her and she uses it to be shitty to him

He has no choice but to appreciate rosalind for at least not disowning him but she's disappointed in him for a lot of reasons like not being smart enough or handsome enough or hardworking enough (shes mean) (doesn't even know he's bi until way way later)

Drives Anna to services oh high holidays while Candace, his sister, doesn't participate as much and complains that he's a goody two shoes

When Candace turned 18 she got sad about foggy being an adult and leaving her alone and growing up without her because he's going to law school now and he's not gonna be fun anymore so they did a rebellious thing together and got tattoos together. Foggy picked a cheap one, barbed wire around his arm, bc he didn't care that much and it was so cheap bc it was going out of style but it was still offered in the book. He paid for his sister's so she got something more elaborate.

When he got his legal name changed he changed his last name from Sharpe to Nelson without Rosalind's knowledge. Picked Anna's dad's name even tho he goes by a nickname all the time.

You know he has cheesy Hanukah sweaters

You knooowww he purposefully made Matt uncomfy in early friendship bc matt is so painfully catholic and doesn't know about other religions actually. Says comments like "thats so catholic of you" bc while Matt knows objectively that his experiences aren't universal, it was early enough in the development of his sense of self that he would be a little shocked at having his worldviews prodded at like that

Makes really good friends with Peter Parker because Anna and May are Midweek Gossip Buddies and also do the thing where they brag about their (adoptive) sons at each other. Both think the other is really observant and smart before they meet each other and are chill actually. (They meet as kids a few times and think of each other in that weird space of cousinly family friend. When Foggy gets into law school peter thinks of it like a betrayal because how could he actually be smart they were supposed to rot in video game hell together. Foggy brings up peters science accomplishments) (also a trip when it turns out peter is Spider-Man bc hes had 2 superhero friends this whole time???)

Anyway yeah.

I kept getting distracted. But considering that whole post about Archie and others traveling to other Bioshock AU’s. I was trying to look for this one page from a Spider-Verse comic. Also cool info when I was on some wiki’s....so the Maguire, Garfield, and Hammond Spidey’s were involved in a way in the Spider-Verse comics....nice. :D Also a appearance of the Webb verse. But that’s not the point.

What I wanted to do was to make something funny. Which is inspired or based on a page of two Spider-Men saying they saw two Spidey’s that looked the Maguire and Garfield actors.

Archie: You know what I find one of the weirdest things I’ve seen when going to these other dimensions Elizabeth?

Elizabeth: What is it?

Archie: I think the weirdest one was seeing a version of Jack....yet he looked like Nicholas Hammond.....it was so weird meeting him.

Elizabeth: Who’s Nicholas Hammond?

Archie: He’s an actor. He played Spider-Man and Peter Parker in the 70′s Spider-Man movies and show I really like....in fact that dimension was weird. Andrew Ryan looked like Vincent Price a lot more. I couldn’t tell if Atlas looked like Sam Neil or Liam Neeson. In fact the Big Daddies look less advanced or something. As if they were guys in suits. But they weren’t......what year was that dimension in again Brigid?

Tenenbaum: 1979 or 1980? It looked like it was in the late 70′s to early 80′s.

Archie: Yeah everyone just looked different. As if they were being played by actors.....I think that was a dimension where the events of Rapture was made into a show like Spider-Man and Hulk. Or it seemed like that to me.

Tenenbaum: No wonder why I looked younger than usual. I looked like I was in my late 20′s to early 30′s.

Archie: I mean you’re 35. Sorry to say that.

Tenenbaum: Ah it’s fine Archie. I just wanted to point that out.

Robert Lutece: Yeah it was one of the weirder dimensions you’ve travelled to.

Rosalind Lutece: Don’t forget the Splicers looking like they were made with special effects. Like something out of a horror film.

Next I may have Archie mention he saw a Jack that looked like Armie Hammer. Then one that looked like Tom Holland. But that would mostly be a modern Arch saying that.

Call You Mine - Peter Parker x Reader - Part 1

Summary:

After working out a schedule with Miles on Spider-man duties, Peter is going to give this professor thing a try. Of course that’s when he runs into you, the hard ass Shakespeare professor that has sworn off relationships after one heartbreak too many. But can you really keep telling yourself that all love ends in tragedy when you’ve got someone like Professor Parker smiling at you like that?

Closing the door to his office and leaning against it, Peter sighed. It had been a long first day of classes but he had loved every second of it. Smiling he looked around the little room that had his name on the door, it was small but not so small that it felt constricting. Several boxes were littered about the floor that he had yet to unpack, papers were scattered across the desk, and the whiteboard on the wall was already covered in a new formula he was working on for web fluid.

It wasn’t much but it was his, Professor Parker, the newest faculty member at NYU. While he had never imagined having a job this normal, it felt right, something he knew he was good at and didn’t put anyone he cared about in danger. Stepping further in he shrugged off his blazer—throwing it on the small chair that lived in the corner—and rolled up the sleeves of his button-up before sitting on the edge of his desk to study the whiteboard.

Peter hadn’t hung up the web-shooters, but now that Miles had a few years of being a hero under his belt he had insisted that Peter take the job when it was offered to him. And for once in his life, he let someone else step up and take some of the load, giving himself a chance at doing something he wanted. Teaching fresh-faced students physics wasn’t how he imagined his late 20’s to go but he could see himself sticking with it for a while.

Just as he was about to start working on that formula again there was a knock at his door, opening before he could do so, he was met with the sight of a Y/H/C woman looking at him expectantly.

“Parker, right?”

Blinking stupidly, he could only nod at the woman before him. He had absolutely no idea why she was here, and he certainly would have remembered piercing eyes like that at the faculty briefing. So she must work in a different department, or be a student, something he both doubted and hoped wasn’t true.

Quickly glancing around the room, she let herself in without asking and started to dig through the messenger bag she had. Finding whatever she’d been looking for, she held a bundle of papers out to Peter and raised a brow as if to tell him not to waste her time.

“You dropped these, I noticed on my way to the anthro department for my next class,” she said, turning to leave.

Glancing at the papers Peter wanted to scream, it was a note from Aunt May from his first day of high school. She’d found it and given it to him today as it was an entirely new first day and was sentimental, but he didn’t think the line about being confident about his changing body applied as much now.

God, I hope she didn’t read that, he thought, praying that that wasn’t going to be his first impression on this gorgeous woman.

Finally finding his voice, Peter said, “Ah thanks, I’d have hated to have lost these. Ah, important formulas and all that.”

Pausing she glanced back at him, the wicked smirk on her face as she said, “Figured out the formula to navigating puberty with confidence have you, Parker? Might want to keep that to yourself or the students won’t let you hear the end of it.”

Oh, she definitely read it and Peter thanked all that was holy in the world that she didn’t look back as she left to see how red his face was.

“Great, just great. Good one Peter, at least some things never change,” he muttered to himself as he put the papers safely in his desk drawer.

Another knock at the door had him scrambling to look like he wasn’t embarrassed and flustered, as he wondered if it was possible to make a better second impression on her.

Opening the door with as much grace as he could manage, Peter just kept his face from falling when he saw it was a student from one of his morning classes.

Office hours, that’s right. Get it together Parker, he though.

Sending the girl a smile he motioned her in, the back of his mind still stuck on the mystery of who the snarky Y/H/C was.

Y/N POV

Snickering to myself at the look on that poor idiot’s face, I didn’t notice someone come up alongside me.

“Professor Y/L/N?”

Not stopping, but glancing at the voice, I saw that it was one of my students. I nodded, waiting for her to go on.

“Were you just in the new professor’s office? Ah, I’m in his intro to physics class,” she said, the start of a smile on her face.

Matching her stride so I wasn’t going too fast, I said, “I was, he dropped some of his papers and I figured since I was going that way I would return them.”

More like I had found them and found the contents hilarious and knew it would have been a nightmare for him if a student found them first. If I hadn’t been in such a good mood I probably would have left them there, but the look of mortification on his face had made it well worth the time.

Putting my attention back to the girl at my side, I asked, “Rosa, isn’t it? You’re in my Shakespeare class arent you?”

I didn’t always remember names very well but hers was going to be easy as Rosalind was my favorite Shakespeare character and I was teaching As You Like It this semester. If I could associate names with characters then I usually had a better shot of remembering.

Beaming at me, she nodded, “Yeah, I’m really excited about the class. Both of them I mean, he seems so nice you know? And I can’t wait to get to Titus, I’ve never read it before.”

I decided right then and there I liked her, unashamedly I always had favorites every single semester and this one would be no different.

Giving her a smile as we reached the end of the hall I said, “Hmm I doubt I’ll be seeing much of Professor Parker, but I hope you’re right. I look forward to seeing you in class tomorrow, don’t be late.”

I watched her dash off with a wave and shook my head. I didn’t imagine I’d see Parker again anytime soon, by the look of his office he was a mess waiting to happen.

Besides I had no reason to see him again anyway, even if a nagging in the back of my head said I was wrong.

Jim Kelly

James Milton Kelly (May 5, 1946 – June 29, 2013) was an American athlete, actor, and martial artist. Kelly rose to fame in the early 1970s appearing in several blaxploitation films. Kelly is perhaps best known for his role as Williams in the 1973 martial arts action film Enter the Dragon. He also had lead roles in 1974's Black Belt Jones as the title character and Three the Hard Way as Mister Keyes. Kelly died of cancer on June 29, 2013 at age 67.

Early life

Kelly was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up about 60 miles to the northeast, in East Brady.. His father ran a locker-rental service for Navy personnel. He began his athletic career at Bourbon County High School in Paris, Kentucky, competing in basketball, football, and track and field. He attended the University of Louisville, where he played football, but left during his freshman year after a coach referred to a Black teammate with a racial slur. Instead he began to study Shorin-ryu karate.

Kelly began his martial arts career under the tutelage of Sin Kwan The (Shaolin-Do) in Lexington, Kentucky. He trained in Okinawan karate under the direction of Parker Shelton, Nate Patton, and Gordon Doversola. During the early 1970s, Jim Kelly became one of the most decorated world karate champions in the sport. In 1971, Kelly won four prestigious championships that same year, most notably, the World Middleweight Karate title at the 1971 Long Beach International Karate Championships. Kelly opened his own dojo, which was frequented by numerous Hollywood celebrities. He taught karate to actor Calvin Lockhart for a role in a thriller feature film Melinda (1972) and plays a martial arts instructor in the movie. Kelly was also a professional tennis player on the USTA Senior Men's Circuit. He played amateur tennis in the 1970s at Plummer Park in West Hollywood.

Acting career

As an actor, Kelly became the first black martial arts film star. He co-starred alongside Bruce Lee in the blockbuster, Enter the Dragon (1973) in a role originally intended for actor Rockne Tarkington, who unexpectedly dropped out days before shooting in Hong Kong. Producer Fred Weintraub had heard about Kelly's karate studio in the Crenshaw district of Los Angeles, went there to see him, and was immediately impressed.

This appearance led to starring roles in a string of martial arts-themed blaxploitation films, among them Melinda (1972), and Black Belt Jones (1974). This was the only role in which he was the primary star; most of Kelly's film roles played up the novelty of an African-American martial arts master. He earned a three-film contract with Warner Brothers and made Three the Hard Way (1974) with Jim Brown and Fred Williamson, and Hot Potato (1976), in which he rescues a diplomat's daughter from the jungles of Thailand. After his contract ended with Warner Brothers, he starred in low-budget films Black Samurai (1977), Death Dimension (1978), and Tattoo Connection (1978). After his appearance in One Down, Two to Go (1982), Kelly rarely appeared in movies. A deleted scene from the film Undercover Brother (2002), included on the DVD extra features, shows him in a cameo appearance with Eddie Griffin. In his last film, Kelly made a cameo appearance as Cleavon Washington in Afro Ninja (2009), produced, directed by, and starring veteran stuntman Mark Hicks.

Personal life and death

Kelly was married two times; from 1967 until 1968 to his college sweetheart Marilyn Dishman and later to Marcia Bentley from 1980 to his death in 2013. From 1973 to 1976, Kelly dated film actress Rosalind Miles. On June 29, 2013, Kelly died of cancer at his home in San Diego, California. He was 67 years old.

Long fics rec post is long

What better way to while away the time than fanfiction? Long fanfiction! And when I say long, I mean long, like so long it is three novels put together, how on earth did you find time to write this, so long it takes even me more than one day to read long. I'm irrationally jealous of all of these writers, as I am the type of writer who has a hard time dashing off 10,000 words in a timely fashion, let alone writing anything longer.

I'm using the SFWA's definition of a novel here, which is anythiing over 40,000 words.

These are all stories I've loved, and most of them I've actually got saved as PDFs so I can re-read them wherever I want. I'm digging pretty deep into the archives for this one, kids, so hold onto your hats.

@books-xnd-cleverness; Dearest Ren—you oh-so-quietly take my breath away, and that is a beautiful thing. Some say that the quietest people have the loudest minds, and where you are concerned, I think I see what they mean.

When I read your work and talk to you, I’m reminded a little of my younger years; long summer days spent reading in a hammock, or peaceful nights listening to crickets and writing in my journal, totally at peace in my own company. I feel like you embrace qualities of modesty and patience and quiet, in a world that barely makes room for such things anymore, and I admire you so much for that. You are fiercely creative and have this vibe that, for me, is almost nostalgic of my calmer, more peaceful days where nothing could touch me so long as I had a book in my hand.

It comes through in all your characters, this thoughtfulness and curiosity of yours. You are so bright and so inquisitive about the world and I adore that. I remember reading your application and bio for Josephine and being extremely impressed. You’re another good example of why someone’s ‘quietness’ should never be mistaken for monotony, why us introverts are not to be underestimated. You have an exceptional level of detail in your writing and world building, and what struck me most when first reading your writing, (including both your OC apps and your open bio for Rosalind) was your extremely evocative images. In screenwriting, one of the most valuable tools you can wield is a proficiency with telling details and specifics. This is of course true in every form of story telling, but I came to appreciate it on a whole new level while going through film school, and consequently the experience of reading your work left me with a sense of sheer awe.

You have such a unique voice, a powerful vision and an utterly compelling knack for character building, and this is truly a filmmaker’s highest compliment, I promise you. You are a force to be reckoned with, Ren, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you, and to get to watch you grow alongside the rest of us nerds. Nine Women Who Change History…...and the Men Who Took Credit

Did you ever get the sense that your history books are just one big boys club, filled with accomplishments by men, for men, and often to the exclusive benefit of men? Does it sometimes feel like the annals of human experience are simply a fraternity where guys are free to banter about sports and make crude noises without fear of offending the fairer sex?

And if it does feel that way, where are all the women? Did women really do nothing more than pop out babies and make pot roasts from the dawn of civilization until Cher overshadowed Sonny Bono in popularity and the whole world changed?

Of course not. It’s just that human history is littered (and I do mean littered) with greedy men who stole their very best ideas from brilliant women.

And in many cases, they didn’t just steal these ideas. They published them in journals, won prizes for them, earned millions from them, became noteworthy men of their time, and iconized in retrospect. Meanwhile, the women who’s ingenuity, insight, and intelligence they appropriated were more often than not footnoted, both in reality and through the lens of history.

But we wish to correct the record, both because education is all about that unending quest for truth and because a future in which women earn equal credit, respect, and financial compensation begins by acknowledging the sins of our past.

So with that, we spotlight women of stellar accomplishment who should be far more famous and celebrated than they are:

1. Rosalind Franklin: The Double Helix

Image: Rosalind FranklinOne of the most important scientific revelations of the twentieth century has also long been a subject of disputed credit. Famously, Cambridge University scientists James D. Watson and Francis H.C. Crick are credited with uncovering the double helix formation that would catapult forward our understanding of human DNA. In fact though, British chemist and X-ray crystallographer Rosalind Franklin had been engaged in the study of DNA over at Kings’s College in London in 1951 when she produced a groundbreaking image. A colleague showed this image to Watson and Crick without permission. This was the turning point in their research, though when they published their earth-shattering findings in 1953, they gave only passing reference to Franklin’s contributions. In perpetuity, it is the Cambridge pair that is associated with the double helix. So says the Nobel Prize they received in 1958, four years after Franklin died of ovarian cancer.

2. Lise Meitner: Nuclear Fission

Image: Lise MeitnerAs long as we’re on the subject of scientific genius, there’s the story of Lise Meitner. It’s hard to say whether Meitner is better or worse off for having been slighted by a greedy man. Meitner was a student under the legendary physicist Max Plank, and the first German woman to hold a professorship at a German University. As the Nazis rose to power, the young Jewish scientist was forced to flee her home country. She continued to correspond with her research partner, Otto Hahn, from her new location in Scandinavia. In 1938, Hahn and Meitner joined forces to outline the concept of nuclear fission. This was the groundbreaking moment that would, in just five years, give rise to the awesome destructive capacity of the atomic bomb. Anybody looking to send angry letters to those responsible would find only Hahn’s name on the landmark paper revealing the discovery. Hahn chose to omit his partner’s name and was thus the sole recipient of the 1944 prize in chemistry from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

3. Hedy Lamarr: Radio Guidance System

Hedy LamarrMeitner wasn’t the only woman working to build military might during World War II. She is joined by Austrian-born, American actress Hedy Lamarr, who in addition to becoming a star of the Silver Screen during the Golden Age of Hollywood, collaborated with composer George Antheil to create a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes. The Navy pretended it wasn’t interested in the technology, but of course it was. They stole Lamarr and Antheil’s idea, classified the patent and, by the 1960s, had begun to incorporate the technology into a host of new weapons systems. Perhaps even more importantly, Lamarr and Antheil’s work would be nothing less than the basis for the omnipresent Wi-Fi, CDMA, and Bluetooth wireless technologies.

4. Margaret Knight: Paper Bag Machine

Margaret KnightNot all of history’s greatest female inventors worked in the military. Margaret Knight made her greatest contributions to production in an era where industry ruled. Often referred to as Lady Edison, Knight was a well-known inventor, mostly because she had the wherewithal to stand up for her rights. In 1868, Knight was working for the Columbia Paper Bag Company when she invented a machine that automatically folded and glued paper bags into the formation familiar to shoppers today. As Knight worked toward the completion of a metal prototype, a machinist named Charles Anan visited her plant. Unbeknownst to Knight, the random machinist filed for a patent for her invention. She only learned of his deception when she applied for her own patent. Fortunately for Knight, many witnesses were on hand as she worked through her invention. This proved more than compelling in a judgment that ultimately awarded the patent—and all future royalties—to Knight.

5. Elizabeth Magie: Monopoly

Elizabeth MagieIn the 1930s, Parker Brothers introduced the game Monopoly to American families. The game made a millionaire out of an unemployed heater salesman named Charles Darrow. He became the first board-game millionaire, and a symbol of the quirky unpredictability of the American Dream. The only problem: he didn’t invent the game. Some thirty years prior, a woman named Elizabeth Magie created “The Landlord’s Game.” It’s intent was progressive in nature, designed to illustrate the evil of business monopolies. The game was prophetic, coming well in advance of the Great Depression. Ironically, it was this catastrophic era that led to Darrow’s unemployment and his subsequent fascination with a game played by some of his Quaker friends in Atlantic City. Landlord's Game imageDarrow would develop this exact variation of the Landlord’s Game into his pitch for Parker Brothers, including Atlantic City street names and places. Perversely, Darrow transformed Monopoly into a game that seems to celebrates dishonest business practices. On its way to retailing one of the most popular board games in history, Parker Brothers purchased Magie’s patent. The game’s original inventor would net a rough total of about $500 for her stroke of gaming genius.

6. Ada Lovelace: Computer Programming

Ada LovelaceLord Byron’s daughter, Ada Lovelace, was one of the world’s first computer geniuses, though her role is often minimized by male historians. In 1843, the mathematically erudite Lovelace collaborated with inventor Charles Babbage at the University of London. Babbage was working on something called an Analytical Engine, an early prototype of the computer. Lovelace contributed detailed and extensive notes to Babbage’s work, particularly by articulating the way Babbage’s machine could be fed data to complete complicated math problems, or even compose complex music. These ideas may mark the earliest recorded proposition for what would eventually become computer programming and algorithms. Today, Lovelace’s contributions are obscured by debate, and most often by the dismissive and unmistakably misogynistic characterizations of her role.

7. Margaret Keane: “Big Eyes”

While not technically concerned with an invention, the following one of the most egregious examples of chauvinistic greed on record. Margaret Keane is an American artist best known for her trademark “Big Eye” paintings, which were popular in the 1960s. The only problem: her fans in the ’60s were confident the paintings were done by her husband, Walter. Walter began selling his wife paintings as his own without permission in the 1950s. Eventually, Margaret discovered what Walter was up to. When she confronted him, Walter used threat, intimidation, and emotional abuse to force her silence. As the works gained in popularity, Margaret continued to toil in obscurity, while Walter enjoyed celebrity. In 1965, the two were divorced. In 1970, Margaret revealed the truth to the public. Walter denied her allegations, which ultimately led to a surreal 1986 courtroom scene in which the two were forced into a head to head paint-off. Walter claimed his sore shoulder prevented him from painting. Naturally, Margaret produced a perfect facsimile of her earlier works, earning the rightful claim to her works in perpetuity.

8. Trotula of Salerno: Women’s Health Findings

Trotula of Salerno is one of the earliest victims of historiographical misogyny. An Italian doctor in the eleventh century who wrote specifically about women’s health, she has been recognized as “the world’s first gynecologist.” Her writings have remained instrumental building blocks in our knowledge about human health, and women’s health specifically. And yet, her authorship had been cast into doubt over the ensuing centuries, entirely because historians and medical professionals were skeptical that a woman could have produced works of such accuracy or importance. That’s a messed up assumption, but so ingrained was this belief that many even doubted that Trotula of Salerno existed. This convenient doubt ultimately allowed numerous male physicians over subsequent years to cut and paste their own names over her work.

9. Candace Pert: Neuroscience Findings

Candace PertWhile still a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University, Candace Pert discovered the receptor that allows opiates to lock into the brain.
