hey so how do you think the rottmnt boys would deal with a s/o who is shy and gentle with their affections? The boys are so used to rough house hugs or Donnie’s metal limbs hugs that s/o is so different. Like every time they adorably ask for a certain kind of affection. When s/o holds hands with the bros, their hand is very gentle and not a tight grip. The turtles have the tightest grip. For cuddling, s/o is loose and not clingy but both are comfy. If s/o is big spoon, they are gently running one of their hands along the boys head, neck, back and shoulders at the back, it kind of makes it seem like the boys are made of glass and feels like a heavenly massage. S/o sometimes whispers affectionate words to their turtle?

Donnie:

Donnie would probably be the same way in the beginning

As we know, he’s sort of adverted to touch except for a select few at times

He liked it when you would loosely wrap your arms around him when he was working on stuff in his lab and he really needed love

If you were to click off his battle shell too…he’s softly churring as he leans back against you

Softly drifting your hands across his soft shell and his tense shoulders has him churring even more

He simply just loves the soft gestures

If you’re big spoon when cuddling too, especially if he’s falling asleep; the soft gestures cause his to make those deep and soft churrs. You’re hands soft drifting over his thighs, arms and hips just make him swoon in the right ways

If there’s days where he doesn’t need or can’t stand the touch because of sensory issues, he’ll try to reciprocate with the robot arms in his battle shell

When your hand is loosely in his, he’ll usually squeeze it or tighten his grip

He’s fine when you ask before you do things….just not when he’s sleep deprived and aching. He’d just prefer the softness immediately

Also praise causes him to churr and swoon. We know he craves it.

Rafaela:

He was definitely not as gentle at first

He’d accidentally squeeze too tight when you hug him loosely

I think you’d probably hold his arm or side most of the time because the front of his body is to large to hug loosely.

He’d definitely reassure you that you don’t have to be so gentle, but he loves it

Anytime you ask, he tells you every time you don’t need to.

Also, Raphael is a big cuddler. You cannot look at that man and say he isn’t

so when you get all shy when you cuddle him, he hugs you tightly to him.

He mainly loves being big spoon because he gets to shower you with love, but when you're big spoon. He’s a churring mess, even more after the Kraang.

Feeling your fingers gently trace his spikes and shell, when you softly stroke his head and play with his mask tails. You have him wrapped around your finger.

He loves when you whisper sweet words into his ear…again, especially after the Kraang.

he needs comfort after what happened. He feels like a monster and those soft gestures and words help him understand he’s not

When you gently and softly touch the leftover scars…he’s swooning and only has eyes of adoration for you.

Mikey:

he doesn’t quite mind it, but he’s the total opposite.

While you’d shyly ask just to hold hands, he’s running and jumping into your arms when he sees you

He grabs your hand tightly, or squeezes it when you hold his

You try to hug him softly and loosely, he’ll try to match it but ends up holding you tightly and nuzzling his head into your shoulder.

There’s times where he does love the sweet affections so much

When he retracts back into his shell and you softly rub and scratch his shell until he comes back out

When you rub his hands after he draws or cooks for a long time

When you softly rub your thumb against his hand when you hold it

He loves it when you cuddle him too when he’s in his shell, you can hear the soft chirps and churrs reverberating off it.

After the Kraang when his hands and arms are all cracked up, he loves when you softly takes his arms and gently stroke the cracks.

When his hands tremor and you softly and shyly kiss them, his only thoughts are you and how much he loves you.

Leon:

He’s just like Mikey, the complete opposite.

but he’s also just dopey when it happens

He wraps his arms around you when he sees you

And will sometimes jump into your arms

He knows you’re shy about it, but try’s to get you to open up more with every ounce of affection he has

Most of the time he’s initiating it

You ask for cuddles, he’s already doing it the moment the word leaves your mouth

Want a kiss or hold his hands, done.

But, there’s times where he’s shy along with you.

When you traces his yellow stripes, he’s churring softly

When you trace his red birthmarks, he’s a churring, blushing mess

If you’re praising him, he’s just the same old Leo just with a bigger ego but also expect a soft blush

If you’re big spoon or cuddling him, he’s rubbing his face against yours and curling up to your side

If you start rubbing his shell too with that soft affection, he’s swooning

•A list of random things I headcannon for Tomura Shigaraki that I don’t know how to write about•

His neck and ears get red when he’s embarrassed or flustered

He unironically thinks stardew valley is one of the best games ever made (he will never admit it)

His hands are rough and calloused from his quirk and he actually hates it

He went through a phase where he wore colored contacts because he didn’t like his change in appearance

He hates looking at himself in the mirror

For most of his life he had an electric tooth brush that played music

He’s NOT a morning person.

He sleepwalks

He listens to classical music

He knows how to play the piano and the violin

He’s more of a cat person than a dog person (but he wouldn’t want either as a pet)

He has sensory issues with noise and is easily overwhelmed in crowded areas

Isn’t a picky eater whatsoever. He’ll eat dirt off the floor if it looks good enough

Big sis Magne really opened his eyes to the LGBT+ community— so now (even though he’s going to kill them all eventually) he’s an ally

Terrified of spiders (get that shit away from him)

He’s a messy guy with a messy room but he always makes sure it smells good

His nails get long and jagged because he isn’t a nail biter and he always ends up dusting the clippers somehow (he still tries)

Being called a man-child actually fucked him up and he had to take a second to reflect

He never peels his fruit (he will eat a kiwi RAW)

Some of his bottom teeth are crooked because he was afraid to pull his teeth out when they’d get loose

Terrified of the dentist.

When he found Izuku in the mall he was originally going to GameStop

He’s multilingual (AFO wanted to be sure he could be the symbol of fear all over the globe)

He does NOT like being touched OR touching others so his quirk makes him mad as hell

He didn’t watch cartoons growing up

He actually just hates tv as a whole— get that shit away from him.

He actually really enjoys being barefoot outside because it’s the one and only way he can fully feel the ground without hurting it

a/n: welcome to the “neurodiverse babes have sex, too,” corner of the internet. so here are some of my headcanons on what that might look like with sensory overload. please keep in mind that every neurodiverse babe (gn term 😘) experiences it differently. 💜 bunny

katsuki is probably gonna struggle the most to adjust to sex with a nd partner where sensory overload is an issue in intimacy. he’s very intelligent and cares deeply, but mans can’t read subtle body cues/changes for shit until he knows you extremely well, and even then, he’ll still miss some stuff. it’s just not a strength he has. and in general he’s a bit abrasive, very touchy, and rough. either he’s going to be worried that every subtle movement or noise that isn’t enthusiastic pleasure means something is wrong, or he’ll totally blunder his way through and get frustrated until he realizes you’re struggling. you’re gonna have to have great communication to make it work and not be afraid to speak up. finding a way to check in easily during intimacy is going to relieve his (and your) stress a lot. the great thing about katsuki? if you like dpt, any position where he’s laying on top of you with most or all of his weight might be a game changer. you get the relief of feeling his weight on you, and he gets to have a ton of skin contact.

eijirou on the other hand would be pretty sensitive and quick to adjust. there’d be some trial and error and lots of explaining, but few listen as intently as he does simply because it’s you. sure, he’s generally a pretty nice and caring guy, but he listens to you more closely than anyone. if it helps him love you better, you can bet he’s all ears. eventually he may pick up on little signs of sensory overload more quickly than you do. if you get to the point where you struggle to verbalize something (and not because of pleasure), i’d bet he’s already checked on you at least once or twice. you got lucky with a sweetie pie like him.

izuku may not always pick up on problems before they happen in the beginning, but you can bet his head is constantly spinning with trying to figure you out so that he can do better every time. he knows sensory overload is impossible to avoid sometimes, especially if physical touch is a trigger, but if he can help you make the experience as seamless as possible, he’s going to do it. a lot of his processing and analysis happens outside of the bedroom; he’s constantly asking questions with gentle curiosity and trying to understand you more with every detail he notices, and that helps him a lot. however, that doesn’t mean his head isn’t running a mile a minute when you’re together. at first he might struggle because he’s so in his head that it pulls both of you out of the moment, but with enough time, it gets a lot better.

shouto is another one where a ton of good communication is going to be necessary. he notices a lot more than he lets on in general, but he processes silently. you’re going to have to put the pieces together for him and offer up information because he may not ask questions. whether that’s because he already understands you enough to not need that or because he doesn’t think to ask them, you’re not always sure, but his attentiveness comes through in actions more than words. the good thing (i think) is that he’s not the type to be rough or overly touchy unless you ask for it, so that helps reduce some problems by default. ultimately, he’s very loving and acutely attentive on the whole, so soon enough you’ll both enjoy intimacy.

Genshin characters x a reader with ADHD!

Summary: Your ADHD is odd, however, your (boy)friend is just as strange, so you think it evens out.

Or, how the genshin characters react to a reader with ADHD. (Ft some lesser known aspects of ADHD)

Featuring: Tighnari, Venti, Xiao & Albedo. Can be read as romantic or platonic.

A/n: it's frankly criminal how few neurodivergent reader content there is out there so here I am.

Disclaimer!! While I do have ADHD nobody’s ADHD is the same, so what might be common for me is something another person has never experienced.

Also I drop some lesser known aspects of ADHD in this post so here’s a general index of what those terms mean. It’s a lot more nuanced than what I’ve written down here but it’ll give you a general idea of the concept!

Index:

Executive dysfunction/ADHD paralysis: Wanting to do your job/work, but it feels like you’re physically unable to.

Food sensory issues/selective eating habits: A lot of people with ADHD are ‘picky eaters’ and refuse to eat certain foods even if it's good for them. Usually we pick foods with high sugar since it causes a ‘dopamine surge’.

Auditory processing disorder (APD): Having difficulty making out what someone is saying or processing what someone said too slowly.

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD): Being much more sensitive to rejection or perceived rejection.

Verbal stim: Exactly the same as other stims (Like bouncing your leg or clicking a pen) but just with words. Usually being a certain phrase, sentence, or humming. Although any vocalization can be a verbal stim.

Tighnari

Probably the most knowledgeable about this out of everyone on this list.

He knows it's not just 'lose your focus fast' and that ADHD is a lot more nuanced than that but at the same time he isn't an expert on it.

You'll have to explain some things to him, and knowing Tighnari, he'd happily let you tell him.

Mf takes notes. If he gets too excited and overwhelmes you tell him so he'll calm down a little lmao

Downside of him knowing a lot about (your) ADHD is that he knows when you need to cut back on some things.

If you're a very picky eater like me and don't like the taste/texture of healthy food he will literally not allow it LMAO

You'll be eating an excessive amount of sugar and he'll literally snatch whatever is in your hands and tell you to eat something healthy instead. And no, you cannot convince him to give it back to you until further notice.

If you hate the texture of actual healthy food he’ll definitely find an alternative for you to eat no matter how long it takes. You are not getting out of this.

In the nicest way possible… Tighnari is probably a little annoyed about your ADHD sometimes 💀💀💀

He never blames you or gets mad at you because he knows it's not your fault when this does or doesn't happen but he's still a bit miffed about it lmao.

Like when your auditory processing disorder suddenly kicks in and you make him repeat himself ten times. Or how you space out during his lectures.

However, Tighnari is smart so he'd definitely find a way to gain your attention so when he tells you things you can actually pay attention.

He's pretty good at wrangling your executive dysfunction, too (he's used to Collei having similar problems when he's tutoring her). He believes in the work/reward system and he always knows what'll make you actually get up to do what you're supposed to.

Usually by using your current hyper fixation/interests against you LMAO

"Do that assignment/task and I'll take you out to get that merch you've been wanting for over a month."

"YOU WILL!?"

(If you like soft things like his ears, he would absolutely use it as bait for you to do your work also LMAO)

But if it's a really rough day he knows when to dial back on his constant nagging for you to do your work and encourages you to take it easy for the day.

If you're like me and forget things semi-regularly he'd always remind you. Especially if it's an outing/meeting with someone.

(Although, if you're the type of person to get annoyed by it he'll stop/dial it back if you ask.)

You 🤝 Tighnari

Can be overstimulated by loud noises easier than others.

Seriously though you both are at a loud party or something and look over to each other giving each other the 'why are we here? Just to suffer'? Look.

But if either of you are about to/are overstimulated you leave the area with each other to calm down. It's sweet 💖

He was originally a bit annoyed by how easily your mind wandered or how quickly you jumped from topic to topic but got used to it after a while. It even grew on him, he finds it endearing nowadays.

Always loves to hear you talk about your hyper fixation, seeing you so happy makes him happy too.

(And you best believe you'll be listening to that boy's flower talk. You think you know more than most rangers about the flora in Teyvat than they do. He's cute though, and you love hearing him talk about it as well, so really it's a win-win scenario.)

Mean this in the nicest way possible, but.. Tighnari is probably going to make you feel really bad once or twice on accident LMAO

With this tough love nature and your Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria you sometimes can't tell when he's being sarcastic/playful and/or he didn't mean what he said (or simply didn't understand.)

He almost always realizes right away and reassures you he meant no harm, and you believe him, but you're understandably still a bit upset LOL

He always makes it up to you, though <3

And if you ever get mad at yourself about how easily you get upset he's always there to reassure you that it's okay and you shouldn't bash your emotions like that, even if they're irrational.

He's your free therapist /j

Was originally confused when you started verbally stimming around him before you explained that to him as well. As long as it's not unexpectedly loud, he doesn't mind it and if you ever stop for a long period of time he def gets a bit upset 💀 like 'why'd you stop?? Did something happen??'

And if you stim in a way that hurts you he definitely puts a stop to it right away. Usually by offering you alternative ways to stim in ways that don't make you hurt yourself.

He is your mom (boy)friend <3

“I knew it. This place is way too loud for you as well, isn't it? C'mon, let's go out for a bit.”

Venti

"Oh you mean like the thing where you can't sit still?"

Hit him.

But really, Venti doesn’t quite understand what ADHD is all that much. He’s heard the term before but never really cared to figure out what it means. You’ll have to educate him on it before he understands.

Honestly he’s kind of surprised at how much more there is to ADHD than he originally thought. Like damn your brain works against you like that?? You deal with that DAILY?? Damn bitch you live like this? /lh

… But also he unironically kind of finds it funny.

“I can’t believe your brain will go to such lengths to not do work just because it doesn’t like it.”

“Shut up.”

Sorry, but Venti is a tease at heart and he cannot hold himself back. Although, if he sees you genuinely upset by what he said he’ll apologize.

Despite that Venti is actually really good at helping you if you need it. He never gets annoyed if he has to repeat himself a dozen times or if he has to help you get something done, or if he has to calm you down for any reason.

If your ADHD is keeping you from falling asleep Venti always offers to sing you to sleep, it’s up to you if you decide to accept or not. (He’ll be very pouty if you decline though lol)

If you're like me and have lost items right in front of you (once I lost an item I was looking for for a good fifteen minutes. It was in my hand.) Venti can and will tease you about this.

"Hmm~ I don't know… Where did you see it last?" You could basically hear the laugh in his voice.

Once you do find it in a really obvious spot he will then laugh out loud. Just joke about breaking up with/leaving him and he'll quickly be on his knees apologizing

If one of your vocal stims is humming/singing anytime Venti catches wind of it he's definitely singing along with you. It turns into a karaoke in seconds and you're both laughing and smiling by the end of it.

He’s surprisingly one of the most understanding people on this list. No matter what, he'll always be there for you and somehow always knows how to help. You asked him about that and he said,

“Well, a magician can never reveal their secrets.”

“You’re not a magician, though. You’re a bard.”

“Then how is it that I stole your heart?”

Although there is one aspect he’s not great at steering you away from only because he’s also bad at steering himself away from it.

Impulsive tendencies.

Did you impulsively buy something? What a coincidence. Venti did something similar just seconds ago. Did you leave the group you were with because something caught your eye? Venti is right beside you, also looking for whatever caught your attention. Did you say something without really thinking about it? Venti just did the same somewhere across the room.

You guys are almost in sync for impulsive decision making no matter how far apart you two may or may not be.

On multiple occasions you’ve both run to each other in a panic after you both impulsively did something you shouldn’t have.

“Venti, help! I just entered a competition I know nothing about and it starts tomorrow afternoon!”

“Y/n, help! I just promised I’d do something I definitely shouldn’t!”

You both look at each other in panic and internally scream.

Xiao

Unlike Venti, Xiao hasn’t the slightest clue what ADHD is. He literally has no concept of mental disabilities and genuinely just thought some people had a harder time with things, not that their brain is wired differently.

Before you tell him he’ll see you stimming sometimes or notice you say certain words or phrases multiple times and just shrugs it off as ‘human things’. Same could be said for most of your ADHD shenanigans.

It was a blessing and a curse since he wouldn’t judge you for any of them, however if something like your executive dysfunction kicked in he’d probably think you’re being lazy 💀💀

You’d have to have a long sit-down talk about your ADHD and everything that goes on with it before he understands and can help you with it.

Even if you’re like me and your explanation skills are about as clear as muddy water he’d likely at least get the gist of it.

Now listen, Xiao is a harsh person by nature but once you tell him about your rejection sensitive dysphoria and what it means he’s probably looking back on anytime he was even slightly mean to you and worrying about if he accidentally hurt you.

Reassure him that even if he did hurt you, it’s in the past now and he knows to do better now.

Boy is much softer to you after that talk, even if he won’t admit it. He's the one least likely to accidentally hurt you with words out of everyone.

Xiao didn’t- and frankly, still kinda doesn’t- know a lot about humans before he met you, so he’s learning as he goes. Which means that at the beginning he’s going to be really awkward with comforting/helping you.

He’s trying though! And if you tell him how to help either before or after something like your executive dysfunction starts acting up, he’ll… still be a little awkward, if i’m being honest, but it helps much more than before you told him anything. The more he gets used to your ADHD the easier it’ll be for him to help you with it.

It becomes easier over time for both of you and Xiao slowly grows a ‘sixth sense’ if something is wrong.

Forgot something at the house? Xiao is already handing it to you as you turn around to go and grab it. Impulsive did something you probably shouldn’t have? Xiao is suddenly there to calm you down and do damage control. Your brain suddenly refusing to process what someone said? Xiao breaks down what they said so you can fully process it.

Seriously, bring him grocery shopping with you. He'll remember things you didn't even put on the list.

You wonder how Xiao got this power and Xiao also wonders how he got this power but he isn’t complaining. If he can help you in any way, he will.

"Hey, you forgot your lunch. I don't want you going hungry while I'm gone..."

Tease him about how he's acting like a caregiver and watch him turn red.

Albedo

He didn't know much about ADHD before he met you if he was being honest.

He knew more than Venti and Xiao but less than Tighnari, so you won't have to explain as much as you did with the previous two!

He finds it very intriguing, although he is the chief alchemist and human psychology has little to nothing to do with that, he finds himself listening to everything you have to say about it.

He knew humans learned in different ways but he didn't know how nuanced all of it was.

Just like Tighnari this guy is taking notes, although he's a bit calmer than Tighnari was lmao

"Fascinating. I knew humans were complex creatures, but this is much more nuanced than I originally anticipated."

Just like with Xiao, even if your explanation skills are less than ideal, Albedo still gets what you mean.

Seriously, he will pry every detail that you know about it out of you to the point that the conversation has already passed three hours and neither of you noticed.

He's asking questions you didn't even think of and you've known you've had ADHD for years.

Unfortunately, you often have to disappoint him with the fact that there's not exactly an abundance of information on mental illness/disabilities and that he'd likely have to find out for himself.

Even after that Albedo still asks you questions about your ADHD sometimes which you can either quickly answer or it takes ten minutes of pondering to figure it out.

He waits for you tho <3

You 🤝 Albedo

What the fuck is a social cue

You're usually at least a little better at spotting them than Albedo is, but it's still something you both struggle with 💀💀💀

Difference is that while you may try to apologize, Albedo just doesn't care.

He lives on a cold mountain, it's only natural that he has bad people skills. (He just like me fr fr)

In the nicest way possible the first few times you impulsively make a decision/have Executive dysfunction/etc Albedo will definitely say smthn like, "Oh, so this is what it looks like." 💀

Mf is lucky he's cute.

Afterwards though he'll help in any way he can. Which, of course means, any way alchemy can.

You're surprised at how useful all the things he made for you are, and you're grateful for that man making them for you every day.

All of Albedo's previous note-taking and observations of any bad habits you have because of your ADHD ended up with him being able to handle your bad habits better than you can 💀

Buddy is too smart for his own good.

You're taking notes from him at this point. You'd be a little offended that he knows more about your mental disability than you do but honestly if it helps you manage it better you'll take it with open arms.

While you're in his laboratory he likes hearing about you info dump about your hyper fixation. It's better background noise than the howling winds outside and you look adorable while talking about it. That's a win-win for him.

(Although like Tighnari, you'll also hear about his own experiments. Even if you're not really processing the information Albedo appreciates that you're trying)

If you're more creatively inclined he'll occasionally ask for your help if he's stuck on a project to see if you can think of something he hasn't yet. Even if you don't he says your input helps (translation: he likes hearing your voice and opinions)

Out of everyone on this list he's the least baffled about your odd habits. Man's is so unbothered by everything it's kinda funny.

The only thing he's worried about is when you look after Klee alone… he trusts the both of you to be able to take care of yourselves, but Klee is impulsive by herself. And if you're also impulsive it could lead to tragedy.

"You're aware the acting grand master is trying to stop Klee's habit of fish blasting, correct?"

"Well, maybe the acting grand master should try fish blasting herself! It's not our fault it's so fun!"

You're not allowed to babysit anymore

Pure Imagination: braiding his hair

This has been sitting in my drafts for too ling and I'm not sure how much I like it anymore. Still, Eddie is a smol overstimulated boy with sensory issues and he deserves comfort. Thanks for reading, please consider reblogging and/or commenting on top of liking, it makes me kick my feet and squeak.

Sometimes, Eddie hurts himself. Not physically, but his head just spits horrible thoughts at him. He has to find something to soothe the hurt.

On days like that, he gets easily frustrated. He opens the cabinets, and there is no coffee left. He goes out and the van doesn’t turn on until after the fifth try. The store is closed- he doesn’t even take the time to read why in the little note hanging by the door.

When he gets home, he takes a shower, maybe that’ll make him feel better. It doesn’t. Eddie comes out of the bathroom with his hair all tangled and dripping down the back of his t-shirt. He’s frustrated, angry just because, tired and wants to punch his bed until it’s all out. But he’s learned that it won’t fix anything.

So he closes his eyes and drops the towel next to his bare feet. Takes a deep breath. In. His eyebrows relax, his shoulders go down. Out. His belly goes soft.

Your hands hold his. Thumbs going in circles, you ground him. In. Out. You breathe with him. Eddie can feel the air that leaves you caressing his neck. He sighs.

“Come on, Eddie” you direct him to his bed. “Sit down here. I’ll take care of it, it'll be alright.”

He knows.

Eddie does as the invisible version of you says. He bows and lets his body fall on the floor, back against his bed. He shivers when he feels the rough carpet scratching his thighs. It’s almost worse than the jeans he chose not to put on. At least he’s wearing boxers.

He bites his lip. In. Out.

Eddie raises his your hand and lets it softly fall on top of the wet mess that is currently his head. In. Out. You’re sitting on his bed, behind him. It feels like you’re caressing his hair more than detangling it. One curl at a time. He focuses on you.

Eddie finds your smell comforting. Sometimes he feels like a creep for thinking about it. For knowing your scent. But it was a huge help, back in school. When Eddie was having a bad day, he prayed he would walk past you in the hallways at Hawkins High. If he had class with you that day, Eddie knew he was saved.

He'd sit as close to you as possible. When Eddie he's having a bad day, it’s like his senses are heightened; so it was usually enough. He’d close his eyes, trying to ignore the awful yellow of the lights, the way his skin was crawling under his jeans, the screeching of chairs, the teenage laughs and any disgusting high school smell. Except yours, of course, that wasn’t disgusting at all. It was subtle. Soft. Not overwhelming, unlike literally everything else. Calming. Warm. Quiet.

When the world was horrible, rough, when it felt like his skin was raw and the noise made his nerves stand on edge, your smell was like a calming bubble. A balm for his soul. Maybe you didn’t really wear perfume, he isn’t sure, even after all these years. Maybe it was just your lotion, your conditioner, you. He had never been able to find either of those at the supermarket.

Your scent was a shelter for his stray senses. He used to spend the whole class calming down. After breathing you in, he felt like a person again. Like he was the owner of his own body.

Surviving the day after that was easy. He was horribly tired, of course, but felt a soft relaxation.

That’s what Eddie is desperate to feel now.

The detangling starts at the end of his hair, little droplets of water falling all over him (in, out). Fingers getting caught on small knots, gentle pulling, soft caress. One strand free. Wet skin, soft hair; in, out, another strand. Eddie slowly melts against whatever surface is there to carry his weight. The bed behind him is soft, it could easily be mistaken for your legs. And the hum of the neighbor’s AC sounds like your voice whispering something. Yes, definitely. Fingers, water, strand. In. Out.

Once his damp hair is (mostly) free of unnerving knots and falling over Eddie’s shoulders (in, out), it is separated on three wavy strands. You know how keeping it tied up in buns or ponytails bothers him sometimes. How the weight of his hair on top of his thoughts is just too much. In and out; your patient hands are braiding his hair away. Finally, it’s not dripping anymore. His shoulders are free. Eddie sighs.

Your perfect hands finish the braid and he’s never felt more thankful. He lets his body fall to the side and his cheek lands on the bed your lap, where it’s soft and safe. Eddie falls asleep like that. The next time he sees you (at the grocery store parking lot, are you in town just for the holidays?), Eddie has to stop himself from shouting “Thank you, mighty lady!” out of his van’s window.

Most days, Eddie is the life of the party. He’ll be the first to admit he can never shut up, that he’s always making some kind of noise and his body has an incessant need to move. It’s not something he can control, even though he tries to. It’s ridiculous that he can’t even go to sleep without a gnawing pain in his body that results in spasms and muscle jerks if he doesn’t keep moving.

It’s not just his body moving too much or his mouth making noises at every opportunity, but his mind’s chaos that really gets to him. For the most part, he’s got a good handle on it. He welcomes the wave of creativity that’ll hit or the hyper-fixations that’ll get him to his next milestone, Eddie’s learned to work with his brain rather than against it.

The noise builds and builds, though, crescendo-ing into something wild and untamable. It always hits him out of nowhere, usually in the middle of deadlines, and sends him crawling back home to fight against his own mind.

Eddie left work early, rescheduling his client for a better day and offering a discount for the trouble. He drives home slowly, an auto-pilot, and with the radio turned off. There’s Pop Rocks beneath his skin, begging him to jerk and move when all he wants to do is stop.

The thoughts are hitting him at full volume from every direction. He’s crying as he walks into the house, hands shaking as his body tries to make things even harder. Eddie doesn’t even bother to bring in his things, leaving them in his passenger seat. He just needs–

Steve’s waiting for him when he walks in. He doesn’t say anything as he takes Eddie’s keys and gently wipes his tears with a tissue. Steve undresses him in their living room, helping him into clean, softer boxers that don’t feel like nails against his body. He guides Eddie to the couch, helping him to lay down as he turns all the lights off on their way.

He spreads out on the couch as Steve grabs the soft, rarely used blanket they keep for migraines and sick days. It’s so soft, the perfect weight, that sometimes it’s all Eddie’s skin can tolerate. Steve lays it over Eddie, then sits at his head, sliding his thigh under Eddie’s head for support.

Their cat, Minx, jumps up to sit in between Eddie’s legs, rather than on them like she usually does. She’s a welcome presence, but not restricting. She’s so smart, it scares him; he loves her so much.

Steve pulls all of Eddie’s hair out from under him so none of it is touching his neck. Carefully, he glides his fingers through it, fingers running along Eddie’s scalp rhythmically and slowly turning the dial on Eddie’s thoughts down with each stroke.

He knows Steve hates the silence, much like he does on most days. So for him to sit here for potentially the remainder of the night, in total silence and darkness, as Eddie’s body resets… It means the world to him.

Eddie uses what little strength he has to turn his head and kiss above Steve’s knee. The low, warm hum Steve gives in response is all he needs to know that they’re on the same page. That he understands.

I cant bind because of sensory and physical issues (i do sometimes but it doesnt do much.)

I love long hair, and despite it annoying me i keep it because i love having it.

I cant go on t because my dr. Has me waiting until 18.

Dysphoria is rough. I wish people talked about trans people who dont pass because of personal reasons. Whether theyre fem transmascs, or theyre like me and long hair feels masculine + they cant medically transition.

Honestly i just wish people talked about trans men more.

i get it. i had messy shoulder length hair (think kinda like kurt cobain) for a while and it messed with my ability to pass half the time. honestly, the time will pass no matter how rough it is. at most, it’s 5 years. it will be okay dude, and no matter what, you’re still an awesome dude.

neurodivergent plushie preference results + new survey!! (long text post alert!)

hello my lovely beloved tumblr friends!! I know it has been like 1000 years since I initially posted this survey but I wanted to share some of my findings!! I am working on finalizing the designs for the autism cat and adhd dog and I have one more survey about poses! that I'm doing to nail down the designs!

average favorite plushie size: medium (about 12 inches) with large coming in at a very close second! many people also chose that it depends on the cost of the plushie. favorite plushie materials: this one was so interesting to me so I'll list out all the percentages! since people were able to choose more than one, the percentages dont add up to 100 lol but it'll give you a rough idea!

fuzzy minky - 66.7% (the winner!)

mochi minky - 50.6%

faux rabbit fur - 46.1%

regular minky - 28.4%

a few other findings: general preference is for embroidered facial features rather than plastic, most people lean towards more loosely stuffed rather than firm plushies, and having plastic pellets in the paws or rear is preferred typically over not!

the general response for "do you stim with your plushies" was yes! lots and lots of people mentioned rubbing and petting them, or rubbing the fabric on their face, which are things I do with my plushies as well :3 everyone is unique tho, it was super interesting to read all the responses!

I couldn't include every single plushie that was mentioned, but for some of the ones I could find I made a messy collage of some favorite plushies!! I literally broke into tears reading these responses multiple times, the ways that people love plush just make me really emotional bc they're so important to me too :')

the material people were most likely to have sensory concerns with was crinkle material, with super long acrylic faux fur and felt coming close behind. I'm also glad I'm not alone in the dislike of the texture of sublimation printed mochi minky (that's one of my personal big ones.) plenty of people also mentioned velvet, sherpa, or the cheaper fabrics used on novelty plushies sometimes. fuzzy minky was also the least likely for people to report they had sensory issues with! I'm a data girlie so I really just had a blast getting to look at these results and they'll definitely influence all my plushie creation going forward!! I so super appreciate everyone's responses and taking the time to fill out the survey, seriously! it helps so much! please feel free to share the results and use them in your own making if you are a plushie creator as well!

Super late for the spiderverse trend but i've been reading an unfortunate amount of peter parker fics and i couldn't help but pull this guy up from memory

Spider-Thorn? Horned Spider? Spider-Fiend?

His name is Piers Lang, born and raised to kick your ass. With both parents dead at the ripe age of 8, kiddo found himself going from his home in M'sia to living with his aunt and uncle all the way in USA 🫡🦅🇺🇸

Abilities

his abilities are about the same as OG spiderman, like spider-proportional strength, speed, stickiness etc etc. There's only one thing that's vastly different from the others is his enhanced senses

So like, enhanced hearing, scent, that sort of thing. If it was already bad for Peter in his day to dau life, imagine what this guy's goin' through

due to a mix of nature and nuture, his senses, particularly his sorta 'area awareness' is higher than the average spidey

He grew up with terrible vision and in a rough neighbourhood so his senses has always been fairly attuned to his surroundings. A bit like a 6th sense or a natural instinct one would naturally gain over time. The bite basically strengthened all these features except his eyesight (most spider species have poor eyesight. only some have it good. i thought that was funny)

that scene in spider-man: far from home where spidey relies entirely on his spider sense to fight mysterio's drones? Yeah THAT but 10 fold

even when totally blinded, he can use this specific ability to make like a fully 3d mental map of the area around him. Basically seeing everything around him 360 with his eyes closed. So he can fully fight no issue in the dark (basically Daredevil's radar sense)

sometimes he purposely fights with eyes closed cause it helps prevent him from being overwhelmed (even pre-bite he had issues with sensory overloads)

For the hearing and smelling, i tried to see if OG spiderman had any upper limit at all to the distance of his abilities but there's nothing solid :// My guy in particular, I like to think there's no true limit to his sense, like he could track a whole city of people if he wanted but he'd have to be meditating and in a super focused state to do so + overuse of his senses makes his head hurt a lot

Out of the suit, he has a habit of wearing earplugs or earphones constantly playing some genre of white noise. And some strong smelling balm on his upper lip (idk whats the actual english name of it)

Aside from that, he has a few spidery traits (got the idea from a fic, no I do not remember what its name is). The spider he was bitten by had all sorts of different spider dna weaved into it.

He sometimes chirps or purrs when in a good mood or just, when he's comfortable enough to not hide his spidery traits. Has stare offs with actual spiders for dominance. Absurdly flexibles and can get into wild contortionist-like poses and calls them comfortable. Likes smoothies. Gets sleepy when cold. Salvatory glands produce a very mild venom. Yada yada

About the suit

He didn't design it, his man-in-the-chair did. Though he did do all the wiring, engineering etc and was the one who suggested to base the suit design off an orb weaver spider

The red of his suit glows with exposure to UV. Adding on the fact that he mainly patrols at night makes it worse for baddies because imagine you're in the middle of crime-ing and from out the darkness, Satan himself comes to be your reckoning.

The suit being majority black adds the challenge of making sure his poses are readable so that's Fun.

of his 8 'eyes' only 2 of them actually function which are the main ones in the upper front. the others are for show.

The horns are where all the business is at. They all have a solid exterior so he fully can use em to shoulder check, headbutt, etc baddies but their main purpose is to act as antennas. Both for his comms so he can go super long distances without worry as well as help hone and focus his senses to his surrounding area

See, usually his senses is like a motion detector but across a super big area so without earplugs and the smelling balm, his senses are extremely scattered and kinda blurred.

He figured out fairly quick that with antennas connected to his main 'sensory points' on his body help focus his senses to his immediate area instead of being fragmented (does this make sense? im fully bullshitting at this point)

Not illustrated but under the suit he has this network of connected patches (like those they put on you during surgery) to track his stats and junk alongside the whole spidey sense honing thing

Moving on, the spider on the back of his head is actually a later addition cause ppl keep thinking he's supposed to be a demon (him not realising ppl aren't entomology nerds like him)

The spikes on his knuckles are purely for combat and is entirely inspired by his favourite sonic character: Knuckles.

The baggy pants, body suit and hood are all one piece. Only the mask and the utility belt are removable

The whole front of the mask is a solid piece under the fabric. So he can't fold the mask halfway up to his nose and kiss someone upside-down but he can remove one of the lower eye panel thing to eat or drink if he needs to.

the utility belt mostly has his burner phone, zipties, few first aid necessities and cereal bars

I wanted to add a brief telling of his backstory here as well as his ascociation to the spiderverse gang but this post is long enough orz

Ill definitely post abt this guy again though, that's for sure. I'm more a manga fan but I have some plans on mimicking american comics style for some 'fake' comic pages for this guy and his main villain

Vox Machina College AU

These are more so rough ideas and such, I’m hopping to write fanfic drabbles and at some point a true fanfic for it (They might not be connected fully :’3 we’ll see) Also even tho I am 22, I did not go to college so most info I get on that front is coming from light research and my friends experiences :’3

Percy and Keyleth have been best friends since high school

High school was rather rough for Percy and Keyleth causing them to have a very close bond to each other.

For a good chunk of their time in college they live together.

Cassandra though she wouldn’t outwardly admit it she does think of Keyleth like a sister. Percy also thinks of Keyleth like a sister but is more likely to admit it.

Percy is in engineering and has a tendency to make fidget toys for Keyleth in this spare time

Keyleth is in botany, she sometimes makes special teas for Percy to help him relax and sleep.

Keyleth is on anti anxiety meds but has a nasty habit of forgetting to take them.

Vex is in zoology/vet med

Vax is in mortuary science

Pike is in Med

Scanlan is in music and business

Grog is in sports and physical education

Vex, Vax, and Trinket live in a rather old run down apartment a ways from campus.

Trinket is a very large fluffy dog.

Percy has a photography hobby, his favorite people to take pictures of are Keyleth and later Vex.

One of keyleths hobbies is drawing/painting, usually she draws/paints animals and plants but she has drawn Percy before and later does draw the rest of her friends at times, the twins more then others.

It’s rare for both Keyleth and Percy to be drunk at the same time but it always flabbergasts the group when they are and how chaotic the two will be together.

Keyleth has bad sensory issues.

Pike lives on campus but doesn’t have a dormmate.

Grog and Scanlan are dormmates.

Percy has a car thats roof can go down, when he and Keyleth are feeling bad sometimes they’ll just drive around at night with the top down and music playing.

Keyleth and Percy both like 60-80s music.

Romantic relationship focus is on Vaxleth, Percahlia, and kind of pikelan

Pikelan eventually leads from romance to a close bond instead.

All platonic ships are focused on.

Soundwave (+some Megatron) hcs

idk I was feeling silly and goofy so here we are (sorry to all the requests marinating in my inbox, I'll get to you eventually)

-They have sensory issues. When they're sensory seeking, they'll often play metal, phonk, or dubstep music at extremely high levels through their speakers to drown out all other noise while working.

-On the other hand, they can get overstimulated or sensory overload very easily. Even the smallest of noises can set them off because of their sensitive hearing and mind reading abilities. Megatron knows this, and for their comfort, has installed soundproof walls in Soundwave's main work area. Sometimes he'll offer to watch over the cassettes if they're having a particularly rough day.

-Sometimes Soundwave will turn their audio receptors off to avoid getting overwhelmed. It's hard to tell when they've done so, because they're always aware of their surroundings and will turn them back on when someone is near. If it's only Megatron nearby, they'll keep their receptors off, because Megatron understands why they do this.

-Since Megatron used to work in the mines, she is partially deaf from the constant roar of the machinery. He uses sign language to communicate with Soundwave when their audio receptors are off, which is actually preferable for both of them.

-Megatron assigns so much work on the ship to Soundwave for a reason. She knows that Soundwave isn't a fan of going outside of the ship, especially when they're on Earth. Too many sounds, different lighting, textures, etc. Soundwave gets overwhelmed quickly whenever they have to go outside- which they can usually mask in order to get the job done- but it will leave them feeling extremely drained and stressed later. Considering that Soundwave already doesn't recharge as much as they should, this isn't something that Megatron is often willing to risk.

-Soundwave is an extremely light sleeper when in recharge. They recharge best when their cassettes and/or Megatron rests with them, because the noises they make while recharging provides a sense of familiarity and comfort. Their noises give Soundwave something to focus on, rather than anxiously listening to anything and everything else.

Camp NaNo is the ultimate test of your creativity. You push your writing skills and habits to a new level.

It’s inevitable that at some point this month—or any time when you’re writing a novel—you’re going to get stuck.

You’ll run into a plot conundrum, or you’ll feel creatively drained. You’ll stare at the page and have no clue what to write next.

It happens to all of us, so don’t worry. Here are some of my favorite ways to get my stories unstuck and my creativity flowing once again.

1. Go Outside

Writing is an isolating process, and writers are notorious for losing hours of the day to the computer screen. But when you’re stuck in a rut, staring at the page stressed out doesn’t make things better.

Get up. Go get a drink of water. Then go outside. What you do next doesn’t matter. You can get some exercise in or drive to the coffee shop. Birdwatch, play with the kids, splash in some puddles—you get the idea.

A little movement and some sunshine will help you feel refreshed when you sit back down at the computer.

2. Brain Dump

This is my tried and true method for NaNoWriMo. When I reach a point in my novel that I don’t know what to write (or just don’t want to write), I insert a random brain dump.

I’ll write what I’m feeling about this scene and type out what I think the issue is. Sometimes, it’s just a bulleted list and others it’s a stream-of-consciousness flow. Here’s an example:

“I don’t know what to write here. I was going to kill off that character but didn’t. Somehow I need to get to X plot point from here. How do I do that? This is so frustrating. Now that I didn’t kill them off, I need a good reason for them to stay in the story. What are their motivations?”

If that’s all you write during a writing session, that’s okay. You were still working on your novel, so it still counts.

3. Use AI

It’s the first NaNo event since Chat GPT opened to the public and countless AI tools are popping up. AI can be a great way to brainstorm and spark inspiration.

As writers, we often get hung up on finding the perfect way to say something. But you don’t need to let one sentence slow down your writing flow.

Rephrase by ProWritingAid is a brand-new feature meant for writers like you. You can highlight any sentence, click Rephrase, and generate a new sentence. Shorten or lengthen a sentence, change the tone to formal or informal, or add sensory detail.

Here’s a boring sentence I wrote: “Quinn entered the dark and cold forest.”

And here’s a sentence Rephrase gave me: “Quinn shivered as he stepped into the cold, dark forest, the air thick with the scent of damp earth.”

I can build off that! Now I’m more excited to write this scene that was feeling bland.

4. Keep Going

Whatever you do, don’t give up! Getting stuck is part of the process. When you hit that creative wall, give one of these methods a try.

Your story still wants to be written, so keep writing.
