With more articulation, I'm ready to talk about why the push for Lokius simply bothers me, and this can be said for other m/m or w/w ships that fans push to be canon so hard just because they ship it.
It's the framing. The framing that if Marvel doesn't do it (or whatever the brand is), it's because homophobia, and if other fans don't like it/ship it, it's because homophobia (even if they ship other queer ships and are queer themselves.) And the biggest problem with that is that it overshadows the REAL issue of lack of queer representation on screen in mainstream nerd media, especially from big things under the Disney umbrella (Marvel and Lucasfilm/Star Wars, especially.)
It makes it bad that your ship isn't canon instead of bad that there haven't been any queer romances on screen in the MCU.
And like, as a writer myself, I find myself dissecting the stories of other media all the time. I can watch an MCU movie or series and pretty much assess what direction the story is going in by the narrative points they're hitting. I knew Sylki was basically gonna happen (even if just a kiss) because narratively, that's what the show was doing as soon as they had that "what is love" conversation on Lamentis-1. It didn't mean I liked it. But I knew it was happening.
Similarly, there's no romantic undertones to Loki and Mobius. None. For Marvel to make them a couple, it would mean they'd be doing it simply because the two present as men and it would make stans happy. And while there's something to be said for fan service, it would be annoying to watch them cram two guys together who aren't romantic in the slightest. I'd much rather see Loki meet some guy and have the same type of undertones they were giving to Sylvie and form a real bond to where the kiss feels earned and warranted. Not just put him with the nearest man because "he gay lol."
And how you guys are claiming it's being queer that makes you want this is beyond me. It's not being queer that makes you want this. I don't want queer characters that fuck everyone of whatever gender(s) they're attracted to even when it doesn't make sense for them to. I want real love stories. I mean, yeah, sometimes we can have a slut character, because that's fun, too, but that's not even what y'all think Lokius is. You seem to want them to be in love. But why? Because he's the first friend Loki made that isn't through Thor?
I hate that, too, because I hate this idea that queer people cannot have friends of their same gender without wanting to fuck them. IDK how y'all are, maybe y'all are like that, but I almost never have wanted to fuck any of my friends. The only few exceptions have been when I tried to befriend someone I had a crush on (in which case, usually the friendship can't work, really, because I have a crush on them.) I also think it's okay if you can have casual sex with friends, or if you have a friendship that develops into romance, but Jesus, do you people not have friends that you don't want to fuck? I am bi, maybe more pan (gender kind of doesn't matter to me, I guess) and I'm friends with people of all kinds of gender identities and like... I love them as people, which is why they're my friends, but I DO NOT want to fuck them. Especially my closest friend. I talked about her, before, here, but she's like my sister. The thought of fucking her is gross, to me. Not because she's gross, but because it feels incestuous.
Loki shouldn't want to fuck Mobius just because they developed a friendship. And that's very much how it's written on the series. They almost dislike each other (or Mobius is at least indifferent to Loki) and then they become friends.
That's not to mention the power dynamic that exists, there. And I know some of y'all are subs, but yeah, it's a bit gross to imply a sexual relationship with Loki's captor.
But on to Sylki. It sucks that I feel like most of y'all hate Sylki because Sylvie is a girl, and not just because it's bad in other ways. Like, the reasons Sylki is bad have less to do with "it should have been Mobius" and more to do with it being a lazy 1980s action movie plot that should have never happened. I'm not as creeped out by the selfcest (as many of you wouldn't have been if she was a he, I'm almost positive), but what's bad about it is that they couldn't have a strong female lead character without her being the love interest of the main guy. She didn't need to be, especially because she was a Loki variant, anyway. There was no need for it to have romantic undertones, and there was no need for them to kiss. It was sexist more than it was homophobic (and I can't help feeling like y'all are kind of being biphobic in this case. Maybe I'll talk about that, later, but yeah.) It was sexist bullshit. And there's valid criticism that Sylvie is underdeveloped. She's just angry and something for Loki to project affection onto.
I was also hoping they'd do a "found family" type of thing with Sylvie and Loki and let her be like the sister he never knew he needed, but no, they had to go trope and make her the love interest. It was lazy and bad and basically went "If Loki girl, main Loki want bone!"
Basically, having the main character fall for a character just because of their proximity and gender is bad and I hate it (and it would have been bad with Mobius, too, but yeah.)
Both the Mobius and the Sylvie thing also feel kind of racist, to me, because the show has prominent Black women who aren't even presented as desirable to Loki. And y'all, of course, ship him with anyone but the Women of Color. Y'all can pull true love with Mobius out of your ass, but he couldn't possibly fall for the Black women. lol.
Anyway. Not every show needs ships, and this show shouldn't have had any. I hate it. It's bad.
I guess on the biphobia front, I have heard some takes that it's not biphobic because Loki being queer in the MCU which hasn't shown any queer relationships, and Loki being the first openly queer character means they shouldn't have shown him with a woman presenting character. Which, I guess I get where you're coming from... but I have also been in fandoms for a long time and I see mostly girls saying this shit, which is what leads me to feel like it's simply jealousy. It happens all the time when a long-beloved single male character/celebrity suddenly starts dating a woman. Everyone hates it. And like, we haven't seen Loki be with ANYONE in the MCU, because mostly he's been doing villainy and his dating life hasn't been relevant. If the demigod says he's bi, he can kiss a woman. Especially a woman version of himself. Like I said, I hate it for other reasons, but pretending it's because he should have kissed Mobius is utterly delusional. He probably shouldn't have kissed anyone. Not in this series. There was no reason for any canon romance, especially because the show has a season 2 and we'll have time to see Loki develop earned, deserved romance with someone.
I'd much rather see them create a character just to be his boyfriend than have y'all push Marvel into making Lokius canon, which is a nonsense ship that only happened because Mobius is the only prominent male-presenting character before we meet the other Lokis.
My sincere wish is for people to remember that their ships are just ships and to enjoy them without getting all self-righteous about it. I TOLD y'all that Lokius wasn't gonna be canon like 4 episodes back, and here y'all are acting shocked and like Marvel took something from you. NOBODY expected y'all to ship Lokius. It's not even queerbait.
You can make clear arguments as to why Sambucky was queerbait. It's there in undertones in the actual series.
You cannot watch Loki and tell me you thought it was queerbait, unless you think men can't have conversations or hug goodbye without being romantically involved. Which means, in my opinion, that you need to learn about healthy masculinity.
Again, this is not a defense of Marvel. They DO need to let characters be queer, for real, and not just by saying " A bit of both". Like, let Loki be queer. Let Deadpool be queer. Let these queer characters be queer on screen. Yes.
But please stop making it about your ship. I'd rather see a flashback of Loki dating a guy and see him kiss someone he loved back on Asgard than watch y'all force Lokius. Because my queer rep is not about your crackship. It really isn't. And the fact that y'all keep calling us homophobic for not liking your ship REALLY needs to be addressed.
Like, when will y'all stop? I got on Stucky shippers about this shit in the past. All of us gay as hell, too, we just don't like YOUR ship. A lot of us like other queer ships. A lot of us like queer ships in other fandoms, too, and even have queer OCs. YOUR ship just ain't it. Stop forcing it. Literally, most of the ship wars between MCU fans have been queer ship vs queer ship, not really queer ship vs straight ship. Like, the number one Stucky rival ship was Stony. Not Steggy. People are not homophobic for not wanting your ship.
Sometimes it's because they ship something else.
And sometimes, like me, it's because they want something to make sense narratively and not happen for the sake of it happening. It's always better writing to have a character meetcute a new love interest than to magically turn a platonic friendship into a romantic relationship. Like, even when the characters are straight. Like, when Moesha dated Hakeem. It was just weird, even if he was kind of a great boyfriend. He was just supposed to be her friend, and people didn't really like it because it didn't fit narratively.
And that's why ships for the most part should be left to fanfiction, with the exception of a few where fans are right to call out the writers for not making it canon because it's clearly bait (like what happened to Destiel shippers. To see Lokius shippers compare themselves to THAT was so ridiculous. Destiel shippers had a decade of evidence only to be let down by a criminally unfair ending. Lokius shippers saw two men have a deep conversation once and lost their minds.)
Anyway, I'm not saying don't ship Lokius. I don't even hate it, really. I just think it obviously shouldn't be canon, and fans pretending like they were robbed of it is ridiculous. Literally, Ao3 exists for this reason. I will never see Steve fuck Sam Wilson, so I wrote it into my fanfic. I am not mad that they didn't actually date in the main MCU storyline.

Moment In Time
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: Just when you've gotten out, you’re given a reason to come back.
Warnings: Might be some mild language.
Chapter 2
* * * * * * *
“Oh no one is judging you ya big doofus.” You trail a finger along the shiny metal surface, looking at your tinted and distorted reflection.“ Just think it’s a little unnecessary.” Looking up at Tony, you smile.
His brown eyes roll, a hand grabbing onto the roof of the sports car to assist in pulling himself out.“ There’s nothing unnecessary about having options.”
A snort of a laugh falls from your lips as you walk to the next car.“ Yeah sure. If that’s what you want to call this.”
“Half of these aren’t even mine.” He defends himself, hanging the keys up along with the other sets.
Pursing your lips you point to the car you’re in front of,“ who does this belong to then?”
“Natasha.” He answers, taking far too much delight in the way your challengingly cocky attitude drops.
So you decided to hang out for a while, see a couple floors and let Tony explain some things to you as he liked to do, then head home. But you’d found a reason to stick around. Or, better put, Tony found reasons for you to stick around.
You’d go to a floor, take in the sights, the tech, and listen to the man ramble on about the functionality of the floor. Around floor five you were ready to head out but Tony claimed you couldn’t see the medical floor and not go to the labs. And you couldn’t see the labs without seeing his workshop.
This reasoning went on and on until you found yourself in the garage. The sun had set a few hours ago, lights automatically flicked on inside the tower and the seemingly day to day sounds of the tower went away.
It’s quiet now, save for you and Tony talking and him occasionally starting up the cars.
You can’t lie and say you don’t enjoy hanging out with Tony. You’d always enjoyed your time with him, his actions and ideas unpredictable and so genius from the moment he learned to talk. But you also can’t lie and say you weren’t getting tired. A low, dull, rumbling started in your stomach not too long ago from the lack of food since this morning.
Making a bit of a show of looking at the last car, a sleep silver Audi that you know belongs to Tony, you check out the interior and make comments on the exterior. Then over exaggeratedly, you yawn and stretch your arms out.
“Alright T. It’s gettin late. Think it’s about time I head home.” You tell him, walking over and gently dropping your hand onto his shoulder.
He chuckles softly,“ Y/n, what kind of friend would I be if I let you go all the way back to Brooklyn while you’re tired and clearly hungry?” He pats your hand on his shoulder,“ you know Maria didn’t raise me that way.”
It takes every ounce of willpower to not toss him somewhere so you could leave. But you know it’s been some time since you and Tony actually hung out and while he definitely has some ulterior motive to this, his persistence gave it away, you oblige him. Your reasoning is that you know the food will be good.
What you aren’t expecting, however, is to find the entirety of the Avengers sitting around the living room on the main floor. Unlike the other floors that were quiet, a low chatter fills the space and a clanking of cutlery to ceramic plates.
With Tony’s arm around your shoulders, you’re guided to the tables lined with food that looks delicious. Tony obviously has some private chefs around here.
“Um, am I crashing some type of party or bonding time?” You ask him as he starts to pile food onto his plate.
“No,” he smacks his lips and waves you off,“ not really. We just eat together. Cap says it strengthens the team and all and I pay for the food so everyone comes. I’m sure they’ll be glad to have you.” With an almost devilish smile, he puts a bread roll on his plate and turns away.
Your narrowed eyes follow his retreating form. Sighing and shaking your head, you grab a plate, put a little of everything on it, then head over to the unoccupied bar.
Before you sit down to eat, you grab one of Tony’s expensive bottles of liquor off the top shelf. Pouring yourself a glass, you walk around the bar, catching the eyes of a couple members of the team before you sit down.
As you eat and drink, the laughter and banter of the team behind you erasing the silence of the room, you can’t help but remember the numerous times you’d had the privilege of being around your friends like that.
* * * * Flashback * * * *
With a friendly smile you push your chair out and stand up, walking over to the kitchen doorway. Reaching forward you grab the glass dish from the woman’s hands.
“Careful it’s-”
You nod and smile,“ I know. I’m fine.”
Marie’s eyes squint at you and she nods in understanding as she remembers. Patting your arm she turns back to the kitchen right before Jarvis comes out and follows you to the table.
Whispering a quiet ‘excuse me’ to Ana, you reach around her to place the dish on the table, then refind your seat across from her. The second your butt touches the seat two sets of eyes are on you.
“Y/n please tell this buffoon how ludicrous his invention sounds.” The angelically accented voice of your close friends says. You swear you can feel her gaze burning into your temple.
You look over at her, opening your mouth to speak when Howard cuts in.
“No Y/nn, tell Margaret that this is genius. It’s revolutionary!” He exclaims and your eyes widen a little.
Face morphing into an expression of offense, Peggy turns to look at Howard and they start bickering again.
Smiling amusedly, you lean back into the chair, making eye contact with Jarvis’ wife An from across the table.
Both of you shake your heads, An chuckling softly just before Jarvis comes to sit beside her.
“Howard,” the man looks up at the stern but sweet tone of his wife.“ That’s enough honey.” She gives a smile that matches the sweetness of her tone.
The Brit beside you snickers and you lightly smack the side of her leg with the bag of your hand, muttering a quiet,“ relax.” Which results in her huffing and crossing her arms, sending a glare at Howard that she fixes just as Marie sits down across from her.
Despite having been bickering since long before now, the Agent and Philanthropist waste no time in playing nice over dinner. Alongside them, Marie, An, Jarvis, and yourself have one of many very entertaining dinners. Laughs exchanged between all of you.
* * * * Flashback End * * * *
You’re yanked from the memory when a heavy weight lands on your shoulder.
Tensing up, you prepare yourself to fight whoever it is but you quickly remember that you’re in the Avengers tower with earth’s mightiest heroes. The chances of this being an attack are slim.
Still slightly tense, you look over your shoulder at the owner of the hand on your body. To find America’s golden boy looking down at you.
“Everything alright?” He asks, seemingly concerned. .
You give him a small smile and chuckle softly,“ all good Captain.” You give a playfully mocking salute and he sighs instantly afterwards.
Walking around the bar, he leans on top of it with his fingers laced in front of him.“ Listen I- I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did on the jet earlier.”
“That’s one way to put it.” You take a bite of your food, staying silent until you swallow, then sipping your drink.“ We’re good. I know my unexpected bombing was, well, unexpected.” He chuckles lightly at your words and shakes his head.
When he reaches up  to almost nervously rub the back of his neck, you know he isn’t completely sure that everything is good.
“Have a drink with me Cap.” You tell him, nodding to the shelf of alcohol behind him.
Looking from you to the drinks, he nods.“ You can call me Steve.” He tells you, putting some ice in his glass then pouring his drink.
“Well Steve,” you raise your glass to him and he gently taps his against yours.“ Feel free to call me Y/n.” You tell him, sipping your drink.
He smiles softly at you, your invitation seemingly having done the job of calming his nerves slightly. Light conversation flows between the two of you, a back and forth of questions that answers don’t hold much consequence but still shed some light on the types of people yourself and Steve are.
By the time the sun has disappeared beyond the horizon and the sky is littered with stars and the lights of every skyscraper you and Steve are well through one of Tony’s more expensive bottles of liquor. Loud laughs sound from the two of you as you joke with one another.
While the alcohol doesn’t affect either of your systems as it would someone else, the other occupants of the living space would assume you were drunk.
It intrigued more than a few of them how loose and easy going Steve is. It wasn’t as if he never had fun with them or drank, but there seemed to be something about you that brought an even lighter aura to the older man.
“It was incredible. I’m telling you,” you shake your head with a small smile of excitement.“ I wasn’t inclined to be excited about it since I was there to see the Yankees kick ass, but the Dodgers played exceptionally well.”
Steve has a small smirk on his face, nodding approvingly as he sips his drink.“ Well I can’t say I’m surprised.”
Once again you laugh, finishing your drink and leaning off of the bar top.“ Ever proud, Mister America.” You say teasingly, bringing yet another laugh from the tall blonde.
He finishes off his drink and you take a deep breath and release it.“ Welp Cap,” pushing up out of your chair, you smile at him,“ it was a pleasure chatting with you. Ever want to talk about the good ole days-”
“I’ll give you a ring.” He holds his hand out to you and you shake it firmly.
As you take up the glasses and your plate you nod a goodbye to Steve and go your separate ways, you to the kitchen and Steve to the elevators.
Setting the dishes in the sink, you turn the water on and lean against the counter as you wait for it to get hot. Just before your mind can begin to wander you catch sight of movement in your peripherals.
A smirk almost instantly pulls onto your face at the sight of the red head walking in. Her green eyes are already trained on you with a look in them that you can’t describe.
“Agent Romanoff,” you nod to her, smirk still in place.
She takes small purposeful steps closer, stopping a few feet away from you,“ you lied to us. Member of SHIELD for a while?” She raises her eyebrows and shakes her head with an overly sweet smirk,“ you founded SHIELD.”
You hiss in a breath of air through your teeth, turning to face away from her as you chuckle.“ I didn’t lie, actually. Withholding all of the truth is a different thing.” Drying the plates off, you set them on the rack to dry, the forks and cups following afterwards.“ And let’s make something very clear, I am not a founder of SHIELD.” You dry your hands and turn to her.
“Really? Cause SHIELD records say otherwise” She reasons, stepping closer.
Eyebrows raising at her further approach, you do the same. You smile softly at her and close the distance between you two, leaving just under a foot of space.“ I understand you aren’t happy with the redacted details of my history Agent Romanoff so let me clear it up for you.”
Natasha tilts her head at your words and listens intently as you continue.“ I didn’t found SHIELD. I was the first ever agent. Agent Carter and Howard Stark saved me and administered me an enhanced version of the same serum Steve took. I owed them my life and I made sure to protect them,” you falter at that, jaw clenching as a horrible memory flashes through your mind.
“That’s how you met Tony?” She asks. It wasn’t missed by Natasha. The ex-assassin could read anyone. The second she noticed the distant look in your eyes she knew something was wrong and while she was curious, something told her not to ask about that.
You shake your head to clear your thoughts and look at her.“ Was in the hospital the night he was born. Watched him grow up.” You smile fondly,“ he’s family.”
For a moment it’s quiet. Still you watch Natasha, unsure if she’s finished or not. Just when you think she’s done, you nod and head towards the door, only to stop when she speaks.
“Why did you come for us?”
Turning from the door, you look over your shoulder at her,“ I owed Nick a favor.”
Her eyes narrow at you and you give a small nod before leaving out.
Neither you or Natasha would’ve guessed that would be your last conversation for the span of the next week. While you were at the tower a few times, to drop off something you’d talked about with Steve or pick up Tony before the two of you went and hung out somewhere, you hadn’t gone inside.
She wouldn’t admit it to you but Natasha had started to wonder when you’d come back. Not only does your reputation precede itself, something about your personality intrigues her more than she’d ever been before. She wanted to see you again, talk to you again.
Green eyes look through the clear blue glass, brows slightly pinched together at the sight of you and Tony hugging. Natasha debated with herself whether or not she was going to go speak to you as Steve jogged out of the front doors and over to you, sharing a handshake and a hug.
The last thing the ex-assassin expects to feel is the little flutter in her stomach when you smile brightly.
She tears her gaze away from you, frown deeper than before. Her thoughts running a mile a minute.
When a weight drops onto her shoulder she almost flinches. Grabbing the hand on her, she twists it and forces the person to stand in front of her, slamming them into the window.
“Well damn.” You curse, using your hand on the window to push yourself off the window. A chuckle falls from your lips as Natasha let’s you go.“ Guess it wasn’t a good idea to approach a trained agent without speaking.” You say jokingly, green eyes snapping down to the smile on your lips and back up.
There’s an incredibly short pause from Natasha before she channels her usually straight expression.“ What’d you want Y/Ln?”
“How bout a smile Romanoff.” When a beat passes without her expression changing you sigh.“ I want a cup of coffee. And I want you to come get one with me.”
“Come again?” Her expression cracks slightly as her eyebrows raise slightly.
You tilt your head and smile softly at her.“ You were practically shooting lasers at me through the window. Figured either you wanted to get out of the tower or you were jealous Tony and Steve were taking up all my time.” A teasing tone wraps around all your words and Natasha instantly scoffs.
“I have no reason to be jealous of Stark or Rogers.” She says and you nod.
“I figured as much. Which means you want to get out of the tower.” You nod for her to follow you.“ Cup of coffee does everyone some good.”
Natasha watches the confident stride you make towards the door, not once looking back as you just know she’s going to follow. And she does, despite her pride telling her not to.
The coffee shop isn’t too far away from the tower so you walk. Unlike your walks with Steve, it’s silent. The redhead stays two steps behind you, not saying a word as she follows.
A burst of cool air rushes past the two of you with your first step into the coffee shop to the sound of the bell jingling above you. Smiling softly at the familiar building you walk further in.
Natasha takes into account that there are no more than ten customers inside. For a New York coffee shop it was incredibly quiet and quaint.
“Love it here,” she hears you mumble as you step up to the counter.“ Hi, can I get one medium black coffee and a large iced coffee with two creams and two sugars.” The woman rings you up and you pay. Pocketing your wallet as you turn to face Natasha.
You smile at her lack of emotion. There is no reason for you to be as grumpy and blank as she is.“ I’ve been to a lot of places but here, they have the best coffee.” You tell her.
Her head tilts slightly and you purse your lips and nod. Once again it’s silent as you wait, then you grab the coffees when your name is called, turning to hand the black coffee to Natasha.
With things going the way they are, you have an internal battle on staying here or just going back to the tower. Taking one last chance, you nod to an empty table and sit down. Natasha coming over and sitting as well.
“Look, Natasha, you can’t hate me so much that we can’t even have a coffee together.” Your tone of voice is one of confusion and slight sadness.
Frowning once again at the emotions in your voice, Natasha watches you. Green, calculating eyes and a blank expression are the only signs of how hard she’s thinking right now.
With a huff of a sigh she says,“ I don’t hate you.” She admits, face finally giving way to emotion.“ I- I barely know you.”
“Well maybe we should change that.” Holding up your cup of coffee you take a sip and tell her,“ I think if you give me a chance, I might not be as bad as you think.”
Her eyes narrow and for the first time ever, you see her crack the smallest of smiles.“ We’ll see about that.”

Tumblr media
Ever since the UA days, Bakugou loved the way you acted. You were always a bundle of happiness, a contrast opposite to him and could bring out the good in everyone, including an angry gremlin like himself. Sure, back then, he acted like he hated it, that he despised her bubbly and positive attitude but if he were to be honest, you gave him the motivation to do better and be a better person/hero. You were a part of Bakusquad ever since you stepped into the class and with time, Bakugou found himself considering you as one of the closest friends he ever had. With time, his attraction towards you only grew and by the time you were in your third year, he had fallen hard for you. The fact that Kaminari constantly flirted with you and you laughed at his attempts did nothing but piss Bakugou off. Honestly, he was surprised that he didn't beat Kaminari to a pulp yet. However, that didn't mean that he wouldn’t put a stop to that. As soon as third year ended, he demanded that you joined his new found agency. You joined without hesitation since the two of you were best friends. Which is why, he found himself in this situation, pinning you to a wall as you looked up at him with pink dusting your cheeks and a flustered expression.
It had been an year since Bakugou opened the famous "Ground Zero Agency" where you worked as his partner. Your quirk was not as strong as Bakugou's, which is why starting off as an independent pro hero was not an option for you. Besides, you had other reasons to join his agency. You had a huge crush on him ever since your second year in UA. After all, why wouldn’t you? He was nice to you compared to everyone else (he still had a weird nickname for you and cussed at you when you messed up but it was far, far less aggressive than everyone else), he looked like a greek God, and most importantly, let's just say you were kinda a fangirl cause damn that man knows how to kick villain butts. Anyway, ever since Bakugou opened up his agency and you joined his agency, Bakugou ended up getting to the top 10 position in hero ratings. Your ratings improved drastically as well thanks to Bakugou's impeccable leadership and you had your position in the top 20. Now that both of you were quite popular pro heroes, you were invited to the annual hero reunion gala where every popular heroes were invited. It was an event that was held mostly for giving every hero a chance to increase media coverage and get more investors for their respective agencies. Pro hero Ground Zero and (H/N) naturally got an invitation and while Bakugou was not initially excited about showing up, hearing that you're going chanced that. Since the two of you ran the agency together (even though it wasn’t your agency and you were a hired pro hero but you'd always help a friend out), Bakugou and you decided that he'd pick you up from your home and that you should go with him. Did Bakugou initially plan to ask you on a date instead of making it sound like something that should be done for their agency? Yes, yes he did. Did he chicken out at the last moment and pretend that it was all for the agency? Again, yes, yes he did. How could he not chicken out? You were always just too cute that it disarmed him.
Going back to current events, Bakugou was waiting for you infront of your apartment in his brand new Lamborghini (cause he's a show off). When you finally came out, he almost had a seizure. You wore a tiny black dress that hugged your curves perfectly. You went for a no makeup look and your (H/C) hair was curled. Along with all that, you had the cutest smile on your face and Bakugou knew that he'd have a boner the entire time. This had been happening recently for the last few months. He used to feel his heartbeat increase whenever you smiled like that before but nowadays, he downright gets boners. Probably because you keep getting cuter every damned day atleast to him. The whole car ride was distracting as you kept rambling like a child about how your day went. He wondered how you could make something as disgusting as cleaning the toilet sound like something adventurous. Bakugou gave short replies like his usual self but since when did that stop you? Upon reaching, the both of you were swarmed by the press who kept asking if you and Bakugou were dating. There were certain rumours since no one except you could work that well with Bakugou. The way you blushed as soon as the reporters brought it up made his cock twitch in his pants. At this point, he was thanking whatever God gave him the brilliant idea of wearing tight boxers.
When Bakugou thought that getting in the party would change things, he was completely wrong. Everyone from Bakusquad showed up to the party as well since they gained popularity too. Your first reaction was to run at Mina and Kirishima and tackle them. You and Mina were inseparable back in the UA days and you were the one who set her up with Kirishima since they were pining on eachother for the longest time. You were really close to Kirishima as well since he always hung out with you and Bakugou. Hell, you were pretty much close to everyone. However, Bakugou, Mina and Kirishima probably were closer than the others. That didn't mean that Bakugou didn't get jealous. He didn’t like the fact that Kirishima and Mina got hugs from you since he decided that he was the only one who deserved hugs from you. Which meant that he was downright glaring at the oblivious couple as they talked to you with excited voices. You haven’t met up with them in a while thanks to your busy schedule. Things got worse when Kaminari put an arm around your shoulder and asked, "Aww they got a hug and I didn’t? Isn't that unfair, (Y/N)?". Let's just say that Bakugou was really, really close to losing control of his quirk.
"Kaminari-kun, are you jealous?" you winked at the blonde before laughing. "I'll be fucking damned if dunce face is the one to make her laugh like that." Bakugou growled internally, losing his shit and pretty much grabbing your hand and pulling you away from the surprised group. You personally were shocked by his sudden aggression. Yes, Bakugou was a really agressive person but he never showed much of that side towards you until now. You tried to talk to him and asked him to slow down but all your words went unheard till he pulled you into an abandoned corridor in the community hall and shoved you into a janitor's closet that was in the corridor. Getting in there himself, he closed the door, letting only tiny beams of light pass through the gaps on the door. "Bakugou-kun, why did you bring me here?" you asked, confused, tilting your head sightly. Only if you knew what your cuteness did to him.... "I was gonna ask you on a fucking date before I chickened out cause you always look so damn cute!" Bakugou hissed as he pinned you to the wall of the janitor's closet, making a slight amount of pink to dust your cheeks as you looked at him with a flustered expression.
"Y-you like me?" you stuttered at his sudden confession. "Yes (Y/N). Now, if you continue to be so fucking cute, I'll take you right here, right now. You're really testing my self control now so stop looking so damned cute or just tell me on my face if you don't want me." Bakugou grumbled as he closed the distance between you even more, your lips almost touching. "I like you too, Bakugou-kun... I want you to continue..." you whispered, meeting his lips. It didn’t take long for Bakugou to kiss you back with immense passion and agression. His tongue demanded entrance in your mouth and you let him. Your tongues battled for dominance which he won in a matter of moments, leaving you completely breathless. Before you could realise, his hands already travelled to your groins as a finger rubbed your pussy. "So wet... Did this get you horny baby? Who knew, such an innocent cutie could turn out to be a complete slut..." Bakugou muttered to your ear with a smug smirk. "Ah... Baku..." you were stopped with a light peck on your lips as Bakugou looked at you with an unusually soft expression and said, "Call me Katsuki. You're my girl now, right?". "Yes, Katsuki... I'm yours..." you breathed out as his fingers rubbing your pussy was making you weak at your knees. "Why were you flirting with dunce face back there huh? You've been such a bad girl. You know what happens to bad girls? They get punished. Guess what's gonna happen to you now, baby?" Bakugou whispered into your ear with a smirk as a wave of heat washed throughout your body and pooled at your vagina. "Getting wetter are we? Does this turn you on? Do you want daddy to punish you?" Bakugou whispered to you. He didn’t know how you'd react to his kinks and honestly, he was anxious about your response. However, all his worries went away when you looked at him with a cute smile and said, "Punish me daddy. Please?". Damn he would never forget the face you made as it instantly made him get the most painful hard on in his entire life.
"Fuck... You really know how to make daddy happy huh? Such a cute fucking smile... You wanna be punished huh? Fine, I'll fuck you into oblivion but if you make one noise, I'm not letting you cum." Bakugou hissed at you before he pulled your dress up, removed your panties, picked you up, held you against the wall and entered you with brute force. You almost yelped at the feeling as his cock was bigger than anything you've put in yourself so far as it filked you to the brim. Biting your lips, you controlled yourself before looking at Bakugou, giving him the signal to move. Without a warning, he pounded into you with an unforgiving pace, making it almost impossible for you to keep quiet. However, you wanted to be good for him. The idea of him being so much in control turned you on so much that you were already feeling dizzy from all the sensations that were inflicted on your body. "Fuck.... So tight.... You're clenching on me..." Bakugou whispered to you making you grab onto him tighter as the sensations were making you feel euphoric beyond measure. You were going to cum soon. "Such a good girl for me... You’ve listened to daddy and didn't make a noise huh? Daddy's got two rewards for you. For being so damn cute and for being a good girl. I'll let you cum for being such a cutie..." Bakugou muttered into your ear, increasing his pace and making you come undone all over him. Even then, you made no noise except your ragged breathing. However, Bakugou didn't stop as he kept chasing his own release, overstimulating you. You couldn't help it anymore as you whimpered slightly at the unbearably pleasant feeling. "Can't help it anymore baby? It's okay. Lemme hear those cute sounds. Don't make a racket though." Bakugou groaned to your ear as he was nearing his release. With his permission, you let out low gasps and whimpers while trying to keep the loud moans as you bit your lips hard enough to draw blood.
It didn’t take long for Bakugou to cum. With a light groan, he pumped you full of his release. He carefully put you down before making you wear your panties before any of his release leaks out. After the two of you caught your breath, he whispered something to you that flustered you completely. "Having your insides full of my cum is my reward to you for being a good girl. Now that you’ll have my cum all over your panties and inside you as well when you talk to any of those shitty extras, you’ll keep remembering who you belong to."

Wizard And Sorceress - Hisirdoux Casperan | Becoming: Part 4
Plot: (Y/N) (L/N), a 17-year-old girl who has long known she was a sorceress, has been roped into her cousin’s Trollhunter adventures alongside a couple of friends.
Word Count: 3129
Warning: Swearing and poor writing towards the end
A/N: Hello! If you were wondering, I’m not dead! Sorry if I didn’t update this story in quite a while. I was just really busy with school and I kind of struggled with motivation when it came to writing this chapter, but I pulled through! For what’s it worth, I really hope you guys enjoys todays chapter. I’m thinking having my update schedule to be every 2nd Tuesday, if that makes sense, and I hope to keep with that moving forward! Also, just to give you guys a little heads up, Douxie is probably going to appear after a couple of chapters, so get ready for that :3 Sorry that it isn’t sooner.
Also, I wanted to give a big thanks to @wanda-peitro-lorna-maximoff from coming up with the  nickname, “Young Hecate” Stickler has for the reader! I just love that nickname so, so much, so thank you for allowing me to use it in my story!
“So, what did you decide?” As the three of you walked through the locker room, Toby asked the taller boy, nudging Jim's arm with his elbow.
“That if anyone finds out what happened in my kitchen last night, all of us will be committed,” Jim replied, his face serious as he looked at Toby.
“I meant about kicking Steve’s butt.” Toby clarified while karate-style chopping and punching motions with his hands.
Jim told him, “Give up the dream, Tobes,” as he walked ahead of the two of you.
You heard a brief dinging sound that disappeared as quickly as it came. From where you were walking, you saw the amulet, which was in Jim's bag pocket, shining softly. You drew your brows together. Toby seemed to have noticed it as well, as he grabbed Jim's backpack and stopped the boy as the brunette peered into your cousin's bag pocket. You, too, came to a halt and looked.
“Does this thing run on batteries?” As you heard the bell ring in the distance, Toby asked, moving his head to get a better look.
“What’s it doing?” You wondered as you took a closer look.
“How should I know?” Jim whispered, his hand covering your view of the amulet, “It didn’t come with a manual.”
“Does it feel like you’re going to, you know, change?” The shorter boy asked, taking a quick glance around.
“Oh no,” Jim breathed out, his shoulders slumping and eyes widening in realization.
“Oh-oh! Then we gotta get you somewhere that isn’t here!” You said this as you hurriedly considered where you and Toby might take Jim.
Toby nodded and forcefully shoved Jim into the boy’s changing room behind him, leaving you by yourself lonesome.
“I- oh.” You mumbled to yourself, debating whether you should wait outside or go somewhere else so you don't seem strange for standing outside the boy's locker room.
You turned around after deciding to stand by a nearby locker and immediately collided with someone. You staggered back and quickly looked up, apologizing frantically, your brain not completely registering who you had collided with.
“It’s quite alright, Young Hecate.” A familiar male voice informed you.
You blinked twice before lighting up.
“Oh, hello Mr. Strickler!” You greeted the man with a smile to which he returned.
“How are you doing? How are your lessons going?” He asked you.
“I'm good and I'm doing well in my classes,” You nodded, swinging back on your heels before leaning forward on your toes, “But math is super hard! I’m not sure how I’ll make it through it! It’s going to absolutely kill me!” You wined, straightening your back and waving your hands around.
“You're a smart kid, (Y/N),” Stickler chuckled and patted your head with his pen. “I'm certain you'll be able to get through the year with at least one of your brain cells intact.” He said, making you laugh.
“A girl can dream,” You said, patting the area above your chest as you closed your eyes.
“I’ll see you later.” He said, bidding you farewell as the two of you parted ways.
You peered from the corner of your eye to see the man enter the locker room. You came to a halt and stared at the entrance, nervousness rising in your stomach. You hoped Jim wouldn't be caught.
----
“Give me my Romeo and when he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all of the worlds will be in love with night.” Claire recited on stage, performing for the role of Juliet for the play, Romeo and Juliet.
When she was finished, the small crowd in front of her started to applaud.
“It would have been easier to tell him that I’m a Trollhunter. I don’t even know the play.” Jim told you both, frustration evident in his voice.
You, Jim, and Toby were tucked away to the side of the stage in the school's gymnasium. Toby had told you that Mr. Strickler had seen Jim in his armor back in the boys changing room and Jim, in a panic, had told him that he was going to audition for Romeo in the school play while the three of you were rushing to get to the gym earlier.
“Thank you, Ms. Nunez.” Ms. Janeth said to Claire.
When Claire approached Jim, her arms crossed and a grin on her face, the girl nodded, and the sounds of clapping died away, “John?” She asked.
“Um, Jim.” The boy corrected her.
“And here I thought you didn’t like Shakespeare.”
“Oh, no, he’s my favorite. I totally love him.”
“That costume,” Claire started, gesturing in disbelief and awe at Jim's armor, “Is incredible. Did you make it?”
“No,” Toby replied, drawing your gaze to him, “He discovered a magical amulet that does it.”
“You're funny,” Claire chuckled as you and Jim glared at him.
You slapped Toby’s shoulder, earning a “Hey!” from the brunette, “Yeah, you’re a real comedian, huh?”
“Next!” Ms. Janeth called out.
"I believe that's your cue," Claire said as she stepped back and pointed to the stage. “Break a leg,” She said, keeping her hands behind her back.
As he walked towards the center of the stage, Jim muttered under his breath, "I'd prefer that."
“Good luck, Jim!” You cheered.
Your cousin grinned and gave you a little nod as he looked at you. When they observed his ‘costume,' people murmured in surprise and  Jim gave a nervous chuckle.
“Who are you?” Ms. Janeth inquired, her brows furrowed at him and her pen pointing in his direction.
“James Lake Junior.” He responded timidly.
“And what are you trying out for?”
“Uh, Romeo.”
“Well, we are all ears.” Ms. Janeth said, jotting down a few things on her clipboard.
Jim caught a glimpse of you and Toby, who gave him a  reassuring smile and two thumbs up. He gave Claire a quick glance before looking away, a slight smile tugging at his lips before forming a thin line.
“Destiny is...” Jim started after taking a deep breath. “A gift,” he said as he closed his eyes for a few moments before opening them. He chuckled as he looked at his amulet.
“Some go their entire lives living an existence of quiet desperation, never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon out shoulders,” He drew his sword from his holster and pointed it at the small crowd, eliciting a few gasps, “Is actually the sense of purpose that lifts us to greater heights. Never forget that fear is but the precursor to valor.”
You smiled when you noticed the stunned audience before returning your attention to your cousin's performance.
“That to strive and triumph in the face of fear is what it means to be a hero.” Jim raised his sword and aimed it at the ceiling, “Don’t think.” He spun the weapon around, causing the drama teacher to cower in her chair and hide behind her clipboard, her eyes peered over the edge. Jim swung the sword back into his back in one swift motion, “Become.”
The crowd clapped enthusiastically, with a few people also getting up to do so.
“Um, thank you.” Jim thanked sheepishly.
Eli stood up and stomped away, throwing his sword to the ground angrily. You couldn’t help but giggle.
----
As the three of you rode home on your bikes, a bell clang could be heard in the distance, and the sun was setting in the background, painting the cloudless sky with purple and orange hues.
“Dude! That was amazing! You were amazing! I’m amazed at how amazing you are!” From your left, Toby exclaimed cheerfully, making you smile.
“I can’t believe you were able to do that!” You cheered, “You were great!”
“I can’t believe I did that too!” Jim said.
“And did you see how the Chiquita was looking at you?” Toby smirked as he crossed his arms and balanced his body on the seat of his bike, “Your armor totally did you a favor.”
“I’m still getting the hang of it,” Jim admitted, unsureness indicated in his voice.
“Blinky said it reacts to your emotional state, right?” You began, “The-”
Toby had then collided with a wooden plank on the side of the road and swerved to the side, his bike wobbling as he tried to recover his balance. He returned to your side after that, Jim softly chuckling.
“Are you alright?” You asked, your brows furrowed in worry.
“Oh, yeah. I’m fine. Don’t worry about it.” Toby responded, chuckling nervously.
“Ok good.” You turned back to Jim, “Anyway, the armor appears when you’re in distress.”
As the three of you rounded the corner, Jim said, "But I wasn't in distress back at school."
When the three of you spotted a massive, dark beast with a set of horns and what appeared to be swords attached to his back standing on the other end of the street, you and the others came to a halt. It roared, making you all finch back and weep in fear.
Jim straightened his back and said, "But I am now."
“Trollhunter. Merlin’s creation,” The beast growled, getting down on all fours and stomping the ground with one fist, “Gunmar’s bane.”
Toby whispered to Jim, leaning against his side, "I think he's talking to you."
Yeah, no shit.
The beast roared once more before rising and stomping on the ground with his hand. He took a step to the side before stomping on all fours again. When he got closer, you saw a small portion of his hand go into the sun's light, which made him hiss and recoil.
Huh, his weakness must be sunlight!
“Guys, take a look. He can't go into the sun,” You said quietly, drawing their attention to you, “It hurt him.”
“Not for much longer!” Toby said as the sun started to set.
God fuckin damn it.
“The amulet!” The beast said, his voice booming, “Surrender it and I will give you a speedy death.”
“Doesn’t know how to negotiate, this guy. Go, go, go!”
As the large horned beast chased after you, the three of you screamed and raced towards the nearest corner. You rounded the corner and hid in the limited space between two trucks. Your heart raced when you heard a growl nearby.
“Hurry up!” You hissed shakily, “Put your armor on, please!”
A loud clank was heard, followed by the sound of a big truck being thrown. You rubbed the area above your chest, trying to keep your breathing steady.
“Okay. For the glory of Merlin, Daylight is mine to command.” Your eye twitched as the amulet softly glowed a blue colour before fading away. Jim's eyes widen as he exclaims, “It’s not working!”
When you heard heavy footsteps approaching, all of you slipped behind the truck quietly. You clenched your handlebars tightly when you heard growling.
“For the glory of Merlin, Daylight is mine to command.” Jim repeated, but nothing happened, “Seriously, it’s mine to command. I’m commanding here!”
The truck in front of you was raised, and your gaze was snapped in that direction.
“Centuries of Trollhunters and I will have killed two in almost as many days.”
“Oh no! He’s good at math!” You and Toby both yelled, and the three of you booked it on your bikes.
He hurled the truck at the three of you, and fortunately, you all narrowly avoided being hit as you made a sharp turn that nearly caused you to crash into the ground. Your pulse was quickly pounding through your ears, and adrenaline was coursing through your veins.
When the beast leaped in front of you, the three of you swerved out of the way, avoiding the beast's brash arms. You peered over your shoulder as he pursued you and fired a beam at him, causing him to fall back a little.
“Head down Delancy!” Jim demanded s you, him, and Toby made another turn to avoid another truck coming your way.
“Behind Stuart Electronic!” Jim ordered as he glanced behind him.
“You know I can’t fit there!” Toby complained.
“You got this!” You said, trying to offer Toby some encouragement.
“No, I don’t!”
“You’ve been on a diet remember?” Jim pushed his way into the narrow alleyway with you trailing close behind.
Toby became trapped when he reached the alleyway and tried desperately to move forward saying, “I can’t fit! I can’t fit!”
You and Jim came to a halt at the end of the alleyway and you fired another beam into the beast's eye, causing him to hiss in agony, saying, "I'm going to have your head sorcerer!"
“Please don’t!” You said.
“I can fit! I can fit! I can fit!” Toby chanted happily as he made his way closer to you, “I fitted! Yay diet!”
Before you and your friend rode off towards the bridge and biked over it, you gave him a big smile and congratulated him. The three of you came to a halt around the final curve, panting heavily. You closed your eyes and leaned your forearms on your bike handlebars. Your legs were killing you and you absolutely hated that.
“Look at me, look at me. We’re not dead, right?” Toby asked, his face lying between his palms.
“Master Jim!” You turned your head towards the source after hearing a familiar voice chuckled. You, Jim, and Toby were approached by Blinky and Aaarrrgghh.  Blinky was waving at you, Toby, and Jim while Aaarrrgghh was hiding behind a bush, “Ha-ha!”
“Bular’s trying to kill us! He chased us all over town!” Jim screamed as he approached the two trolls.
You sighed softly as you sluggishly followed. Toby was close behind.
“You have a sweet voice, but you bring death with you!” With a finger pointed at Blinky, Toby said.
You let out a shaky laugh.
“You can fight him, right?” Jim asked optimistically.
“I could not hope to possess the skill to defeat Bular.” Blinky answer as the troll trolls laughed.
“What about him?” You questioned, gesturing weakly to Aaarrrgghh, “He’s buff.”
“Pacifist,” Aaarrrgghh said, tilting his head slightly.
“Seriously?” Jim said in disbelief.
Toby patted his arm and said, "Man, what a waste of a hulking brute."
“Thank you.”
“This is why there is a Trollhunter, Master Jim.” Blinky explained, “Aaarrrgghh renounced the violent path ages ago.”
Oh?
Bular jumped out and growled at all of you before anyone could say anything else. Blinky had told you all to join him and that you'd be safe in a place called Heartstone Trollmarket if you did. So that's what you did when the giant beast chased after you, shrieking.
You were sobbing in your head, desperately not wanting to continue pedaling to your limits. Perhaps you should just let Bular kill you so you can be free of this torment. You swear this is the most physical activity you've ever done in your life.
Bular knocked down a row of street lamps, causing Toby to collide into one of the fallen lamps and was launch into the air. Fortunately, Aaarrrgghh had caught him and immediately laid the boy on his back. You were riding down the path towards the canal and you screamed as you slide down the canal at high speeds on your bike.
You used your magic to bring your bike to a stop, causing you to jerk forward and groan. You sloppily dismounted and dashed toward the two trolls and Toby. You watched as Jim was finally able to wear his armor and landed on the cement floor of the canal.
Jim was in a combat stance, but after seeing Bular coming at him, he noped it real hard and booked it towards you. When you, Binky, and Toby tried to persuade him to take on the beast, Bular leaped in front of him. His blade flashed a vibrant blue hue when it struck Bular, sending them both sliding in opposite directions.
“Hurry! We must open the portal!” Blinky said as he took out a flickering orange object that looked like a miniature sword from his pocket and tossed it at Aaarrrgghh, who caught it.
Aaarrrgghh carved out a semi-circle into the wall with the orange object and punched it, causing it to crack. When it released a blue colour, the fragments started to hover out of the way, creating an entrance.
“Jim!” You call out, “Hurry up!”
“I’m a little busy here!” Jim responded, trying to fight off the beast, which only resulted in futile.
Jim dashed towards you, but the portal began to close.
“Come on, Jim, hurry!” Toby exclaimed, reaching out his hand.
Your heart sank when the portal closed, but thankfully, Aaarrrgghh reopened the portal, although barely, and dragged Jim to the other side. After that, the gateway was instantly closed. You and the boys took deep breaths while the adrenaline levels steadily dropped after the rush.
“He nearly… We nearly… He almost…” Jim said breathlessly.
“Nearly what, Master Jim? Speak up.”
“He almost killed us!” Jim exclaimed, raising his hands into the air.
“‘Almost’! A very important word.” Blinky said, turning around as you and the younger boys looked at him with disbelief, “A life of ‘almost’ is a life of never.”
“Why’d the armor suddenly shut off?” Jim said as you all followed Blinky.
“Master Jim, you are the first human to possess an amulet crafted for trolls.” Blinky stated, “It’s to be expected its behavior will be… unexpected.”
After passing through a very wide doorway, you noticed the dark crystals pinned to the wall below you, creating a staircase that led all the way down. The crystals started to take on a blue hue, illuminating the pit and making it look absolutely beautiful.
“Woah.” You and Toby exhaled deeply and leaned forward.
You latched to Aaarrrgghh's arm, terrified of falling to your death.
“Are you sure we’re safe in here?” Jim asked as you all made it down the staircase.
“Indeed. The incantation forbids entry to Heartstone Trollmarket by GummGumms such as Bular, for they are the most fearsome of trolls.” Blinky said as you all managed to get to the end, “Now, Master Jim.” Blinky said, turning Jim to look the other way.
You strolled over to Toby’s side.
“This is the world you are bound to protect.”
As you take in the stunning scenery in front of you, your mouths were agape. Hearthstone Trollmarket appeared to be made up of a number of buildings and stairwells arranged around the town. Throughout the place, there were various minerals and crystals that provided lighting, and in the middle of it all was a massive amber-like crystal that towered above everything.
“This is Heartstone Trollmarket!”

If There’s Light There’s Hope | 7
Bakugou x Fem!Reader (BNHA)
Summary: U.A. High School was your dream. You wanted to save people. You never expected how wild your journey would be and you certainly never expected a hot headed boy to play as large of a role as he would. Warnings: Swearing. [1] | [2] | [3] | [4] | [5] | [6] | [7]
-
Since the newscast of Endeavor defeating that Nomu, everyone was visibly studying and training harder to become heroes. Bakugou’s kidnapping was secretly your motivation for working harder than before. You could never tell anyone. It’d be a giant blow to your boyfriend’s pride and make him feel de-mascluinized. You knew it was a huge weight on him and no one had really helped him work through his feelings. Every day you did your best, but there was only so much you could do on your own.
Luckily, you understood pride. In fact, you hadn’t forgotten about the rematch you wanted against him. You were just waiting for Aizawa to conduct a sparring lesson. Both you and Bakugou had approached your teacher asking if you could fight each other, but your requests were consistently rejected. And despite Bakugou insisting that you should just break the rules if you really wanted a rematch so bad, you weren’t having any of that and you let him know quickly what was up. If you two were going to fight, you weren’t getting placed under dorm arrest for it and missing classes because of him.
It was a Friday when Aizawa announced that after lunch the class would be performing 1-on-1 battles. You could barely contain your excitement, practically buzzing from your seat with energy. Unfortunately, you were dejected as Aizawa explained that battles would be chosen at random and then follow tournament style where winners faced each other. A fight between you and Bakugou just couldn’t be easy, could it.
For the first round, the bottom 12 in the class fought and the six winners would move on to fight the top half of the class and thankfully that didn’t include you thanks to Bakugou’s tutoring. For your first round you had to deal with Mineta, who only made it because he had a BYE round from the luck of the draw. That little perv managed to stick one of his balls to your elbow and you got stuck to the ground while trying to slide away like a baseball player from his grabby hands, but you managed to palm his face and blast him, knocking him out and sending him flying into Iida’s arms. In the second round, you faced off against  Tokoyami who’s a total badass in your opinion. Dark Shadow was a nightmare. It was only because of your new super move and equipment updates that allowed you to store enough energy to win, but dousing Dark Shadow in bright blasts until he was too weak and catching Tokoyami off guard with a physical attack combo when he was blinded by light was the right strategy.
“Ready to do this?” you chirped, sending Bakugou a flirty wink before settling into a fighting stance.
“Hell yeah.” He wore a confident sneer.
“Remember, don’t hold back.”
“You don’t have to remind me.”
Aizawa sighed and crossed his arms, “Go ahead and begin.”
Bakugou let out a blast with his hands, rocketing himself at your figure. With quick thinking, you barely missed him with a rolling dodge, feeling the heat from his quirk lick at your skin. As he shifted to make another run at you while you were still on the ground, your hands extended toward him, firing off a powerful two handed blast that sent you both flying backwards in opposite directions.
He was faster to recover, so you turned and ran to create some distance. Noticing he was closing in, you pulled off a round-off at the last moment, serving him with two kicks to the chin before blasting him again when your feet touched the ground again. The two of you were relentless sending kicks and punches, bolstered by your quirks. Your match was a demolition man’s dream.
Unlike your other matches, there wasn’t time for shit talking. Instead it was filled with grunts and screams. The two of you were too busy keeping up with one another’s movements. You knew that if you started talking, you’d slip up and you figured he thought the same. He was never one to be quiet in a fight. It felt good to know he was taking this as seriously as you.
You thought you could gain the upper hand until both of your hands locked with his own. You could feel the heat from his smoking gloves. Quickly, you attempted to send a blast to counter him, knowing that you couldn’t pull your hands from his locked grasp, but his quirk’s functionality was quicker than your own and your blast wasn’t large enough, so you were sent flying across the training field, your arms blackened by soot and possibly singed skin, but you couldn’t think on it or your stomach would turn. Luckily your hands and arms still worked, confirming with a few small sparks you released, before you ran head on to serve your boyfriend tenfold for that move. Timing it, you sent a flying kick in his direction, using your quirk to propel your velocity and up the impact damage. It slightly pained you to see his expression as specks of blood few from his mouth, but you couldn’t stop; not when he wouldn’t either.
During that split second as you observed the blood leave his lips, you felt his hands lock around your ankles and a vicious smile instantly lit up his face. With a twist of his body, he spun around twice before releasing you, sending you flying high upwards above him and the rest of class. As you felt your body fly, you evaluated your current position and calculated your next plan of attack, absorbing as much light as you could in the process. It was bad, you still hadn't managed to fully overcome your quirk’s side effect so you needed to end this quickly. With a twist of your body, you free fell head first toward your boyfriend, hands glowing and ready as you counted down in your head.
With a battle cry, you pointed your hands at him and released your super move: Celebration. A flurry of lights continuously reigned down upon him, whistles and whirring sounds screeched and rocketed through everyone’s ears. You couldn’t see him anymore, but you knew you were hitting him. It wasn’t until the last moment when a hand emerged from your lights and the smoke that you realized  that hand’t been enough.
His hand blindly made contact with your face and he lit you up, blasting you parallel across the ground. You had barely opened your eyes when he ran up on you, swinging his fist. His knuckles skimmed your cheek, thanks to your quick thought of turning your face aside. A tree stopped your forward trajectory; a blessing and a curse. You didn’t have time to think, pulling yourself away and running back toward your classmates. You could see them talking about your fight, but you couldn’t understand what they were saying. All you knew was that you were extremely irritable and-
Were those your parents with Aizawa? Shaking your head, you blinked rapidly, the images of your parents fading away. This wasn’t good at all.
A rough yell from above you broke your wandering thoughts and you tucked into yourself rolling onto your back and raising your hands to blast him in the chest. You managed a shaky kick up and gathered as much energy into your hands as possible, running at Bakugou as fast as possible. He dodged your first punch and you managed to miss his as well. Your second punch landed and you used your quirk to blast him in the gut, but he suffered through it and locked your wrist in a viselike grip. Before he could punch you, you threw your free fist first at his face, but he caught it with his free hand and took your second blast.
It was this moment, with your faces so close, that you realized the gap between the two of you. You definitely did a number on him, but despite how much his arms must have ached, you were in the midst of a heat stroke and wouldn’t last much longer.
“Don’t be a jerk and hold back.” Your lips moved before your mind even comprehended what you were saying.
“Suit yourself,” he growled out. A head butt with two large blasts to your torso finally took you out. You could hear your classmate’s cries of disbelief as you lie on the ground motionless with your eyes closed. “Hey get up or they’ll think I killed you.”
Opening one eye, you guessed your expression must have really been something considering the way your boyfriend looked down at you. You were absolutely spent. You needed to get water in your system and cool down your body safely, ASAP, and you were pretty sure you were bleeding in a few places. Exhausted, you asked him to help you onto your feet. You wanted to throw up from your change in perspective, bracing against his strong shoulders and taking deep breaths as he walked you over to your classmates. Aizawa checked you over.
“Bakugou! She’s your girlfriend!”
“How could you be so brutal? You should have held back some.”
“Not cool!”
“Fighting like a villain again.”
You gently squeezed Bakugou’s hand, feeling some heavy emotions radiating from him. He pulled his hand from you, growling and turning away, getting ready for the final match against Todoroki. “She’s my girlfriend, not a weakling.”
Now that made you smile. It didn’t feel so bad to lose; you trusted he wasn’t holding back. Your eyes were gentle and seemed to sparkle as you caught him side-eying you. You smiled at your classmates. “If I thought Bakugou held back at all, I’d definitely break up with him.”
“Well congratulations, he didn’t. Your prize is a visit to Recovery Girl,” your tired eyed teacher spoke, motioning to Iida. As class rep and the fastest, he was told to take you to Recovery Girl’s office for treatment. She was shocked to see your blotchy red skin and beaten so badly - you had never had to visit her before outside of regular physicals the school had students do.
Iida got out of there as quickly as possible. The jerk could have stayed in solidarity. You had to sit through her tirade on being safe since you were just a student, knowing your limits, and getting help when you know you needed it. Her rant was so incessant you wondered if getting healed by her quirk was worth losing your hearing and mind over. In the end you were instructed to finish a gallon of water to rehydrate and rest for a few more hours until you recovered from your exhaustion.
For a few hours, you’d been sleeping soundly when you turned over, blinking awake. You froze momentarily before relaxing, realizing the head of blond hair belonged to your favorite King Explosion Murder. Sighing softly, you reached out and ran your fingers through his hair, surprisingly soft. Biting your lip, you held in your laugh as he nuzzled into your touch.
The door to the office opened and Recovery Girl walked in. She gave you a knowing look, glancing down briefly at Bakugou before scuttling off to her desk. “That young man showed up right after you fell asleep. Quite the quiet type isn’t he.”
Quiet type?
Bakugou?
You merely smiled at her. “Am I allowed to leave?”
The petite woman scuttled over to you and checked your temperature quickly. “Seems fine. Remember what I said to you today. Know your limits, you’re still a student.”
“Yes ma’am,” you acknowledged, turning back to your slumbering boyfriend. You pressed your lips to his ear and gently whispered, one of your hands rubbing his back to wake him up, “Katsuki, wake up; let’s go back to the dorm.”
He stirred and ruby eyes blinked sleepily at you. His usual pout settled onto his face and he pulled away, getting to his feet, hands shoved into his pants pockets waiting for you. Lying back, you stretched your limbs in relief before you slipped out of bed, pulling your shoes on. You offered your hand to Bakugou, but when he didn’t accept, you simply played it off, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear before leading the way back to the dorm.
As the two of you walked the long path back to the dorm, you slowed your pace until you stopped, letting him pass you by a few steps.
“What’s going on with you?” you asked. He stopped walking, but didn’t bother turning around. You continued speaking, watching as his shoulders tensed and raised with every word you spoke, “Bakugou, seriously. Tell me what’s wrong, I’ll listen to you.”
“Would you shut up already,” he spoke, his shoulders dropping as he hunched over. His voice held no animosity, but it was evident something wasn’t right.
You were stunned for a moment, until you realized what he actually said to you. “Hey! Don’t tell me to shut up! Stop being a jerk and tell me what’s going on. I’m only concerned about you.”
“Then don’t be.”
“You idiot,” you yelled at him, swinging your hand down toward the side of his neck for a swift karate chop, but you didn’t make contact with his neck.
He easily caught your hand in his and with a simple motion pulled you toward him, turning in time for you to collide against his chest while his arms wrapped around you tightly. “Yeah, I am an idiot.”
“Bakugou,” you spoke into his chest, voice muffled.
“I lost against Icy-Hot. I was too busy worrying about you,” he admitted, his fingers gripping you a bit more tightly. You tried to escape from his embrace, but he only clung tighter to your form, trying to prolong this moment just a bit longer. “I can’t let that happen any more. I’m going to be the Number One Hero one day so I can’t get distracted. I’ve decided we’re over.”
At first you weren’t sure you heard him correctly, but you knew better than that. You heard him loud and clear. How dare he? How dare he blame you for losing? How dare he try to make this decision on his own? You felt your body begin to shake, angry, and without a second thought you managed to pull back enough to slam your face forward towards his own. His arms released you in shock as he reached up to grab his nose. Stumbling back a few feet, you placed both hands over your forehead, tears falling from your eyes. You weren’t sure if you were crying before or after the headbutt, but you didn’t think it really mattered anymore. You couldn’t even look at him now that you were free.
“You’re a coward! Why don’t you just think about getting stronger instead of coming up with shitty excuses for losing? Don’t blame other people for your problems Katsuki. If you want to break up then fine, we’re broken up, but just remember that you wanted this and you’re a moron to ask for it.” You couldn’t bare to stick around, quickly making your way to the dormitory.
Yaoyorozu was the first to run into you. You really must have been a sight because she dragged you off to the bathroom, forcing you to sit on the counter as she tended to your forehead. You were thankful she didn’t ask you any questions and left you alone after neatly applying a square bandage to your forehead. How embarrassing. By the time the two of you left the restroom, Bakugou had returned and Kirishima was pestering him about how he got his bloody nose.
Somehow, everyone in 1-A knew the two of you were over by the time homeroom started the next day.
Perfect.

Go The Distance - Midoriya Izuku
Tumblr media
I have often dreamed of a far-off place
Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me
You look down at the notebook covered in burns and charred edges. You can already tell the culprit by that alone. Frowning, you hand the book back to your classmate. You offer some type of smile to bring light to the situation. “It doesn’t look like the important parts got messed up at least.”
“Yeah.”
Midoriya takes the book from you and sighs as he drops his head. You notice as he gingerly runs his finger over the front page. He had always hoped he could be a hero, but lately, that dream seemed further and further away.
“You don’t really believe what Bakugo says?” you ask woefully, and Midoriya purses his lips, making you shake your head. You pat his back and walk him out of class. “If it makes you feel better, I think you could make a good hero...”
Midoriya sucks in a breath. He knows you mean well, and you were easily the most supportive of his dream. Even when he had told you, you didn’t apologize and offer pitiful condolences or said he couldn’t, but instead told him you were rooting for him. He thinks maybe you were just uniquely nice compared to everyone else.
“I think you’re a bit bias there,” he responds, hugging the book to his chest. You usually do well with cheering him up but this time it weighs him down, and Midoriya drags his feet. “…I’ve been thinking that I won’t try out for U.A.”
“But being a hero was all you talked about forever!“
“When people make fun of me, I want to prove them wrong…but I know that they’re right in that it’s unlikely.”
“Don’t say that! You’re already much nicer than most of the people here. You’re also so smart that the written portion should be nothing for you, so you’re halfway there already.”
“Please, you’re my girlfriend. You have to say that.”
You step in front of him, letting him bump into you to stop him in his tracks. You bend down to look him from underneath and smile. “How about I sweeten the deal. How about if you make it into U.A. I’ll give you a big kiss.”
Immediately, his face goes red, and you can’t contain your laughter. “W-Why would you say that?” he squeaks, stepping back from you defensively. “Are you sure you’re feeling well?” he asks, hiding behind his hero book like a shield to keep you at bay.
“He is so cute,” you thought and lower it from his face. “Because I know you’ll pass; and if that what it takes for you to even try, then I don’t mind.”
Midoriya stammers, the idea of having his first kiss with you making his head cloud. “Well…all right. I’ll think about it.”
You pat his head and ruffle green fluff. You weren’t sure if he meant it, but you had hoped he would see this through. He had more aspiration than anyone. “Good!”
Where the crowds would cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be
You had walked to Midoriya’s house after a long day of work and knocked on the door. It had been several weeks since he had confided in you that he was losing his grasp on whether he wanted to be a hero, but within a few days, that outlook had turned completely around again. You don’t know where he spent most of his time, training you assumed, and today he had invited you over to see something special.
You greet Inko as she opens the door before heading towards Midoriya’s room, the same usual fanboy safe space that you came to know. You sit down on his bed as he sits in his computer chair. You didn’t ignore the fact that despite the usual room, that the boy who owns it had certainly changed, trading his average build for muscle and usual anxiousness with an uptick of confidence. Though, there was no changing his sweet freckled face.
“I passed,” he says with a sheepish smile as he rubs the back of his head. You clap in surprise. It’s exactly as he expected. He couldn’t wait to prove to everyone that he could make especially the person that believed in him all this time. He was proud that he could actually live up to your expectations. You always said that he deserved to be there, and your happiness over it showed that.
“Congratulations! knew you’d do great,” you praise. “You have to tell me all about it. How was the test, did you kick butt? I’m dying to know!”
“Well,” he says. “It’s easier to watch this.”
You stand up as he loads up a video on his computer. Your eyes widen as the All Might comes on the screen, explaining the conditions of Midoriya’s score. He was pretty proud of actually doing enough work to pass and start his hero training. He had already started making the excuse about his quirk to tell you, but you simply pout.
“Wow, that girl really likes you. Guess you really impressed her.”
Midoriya gapes. “Like me! You’re kidding. You saw that I didn’t really do anything besides break my arm. I mean I might have saved her. It wasn’t really heroic.”
You sigh as he goes into his rambling. With jealousy filling you, you interrupt by surprising him with a kiss on the mouth, hard and fast. You cup his cheeks, holding the stunned boy there until you had to pull away for air. He blushes completely, his freckles disappearing behind the shades of red. He looks almost faint, and you feel embarrassed yourself at how suddenly you did it.
“W-What was that for?!”
“I told you I’d give you a kiss if you passed.”
“I thought you were kidding!”
You shake your head. “No, I was serious.”
“Couldn’t you have warned me at least?”
“…Sorry…I…” You didn’t really have the words to explain that seeing her made you feel jealous that he’d become a popular hero and get fans and forget about you. You don’t think you knew anyone with a bigger heart or who deserved to be a hero more than your boyfriend, but you never had this sudden fear over it before. “I got a little jealous,” you admit, dropping your head slightly.
He looks at you in surprise, unable to believe his own beautiful girlfriend was, “Jealous?”
“Yeah…” you say.
“Aren’t you thinking too far ahead?” he asks and gulps when you look up at him with big (e/c) eyes. “B-Besides, I wouldn’t kiss anyone out of nowhere.”
“Really?”
“I’ll, I’ll still be your boyfriend even after I graduate…” he promises then blushes again as he presses his fingers to his lips and remembers yours being there. “…Especially if that’s what happens when I do well,” he says under your breath, and you chuckle as you hear him.
“Okay! I’ll give you something extra special when you graduate then, hero,” you tease and kiss him on the cheek, making him spasm once more.
He flushes and agrees immediately. “I’ll do my best!” It was hard work, but the extra motivation would definitely be enough to push him through.
I don't care how far, I can go the distance
'Till I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms

A Prelude to Chaos Control - Chapter 7: Green Light Ride
Tumblr media

*****
Sonic, Tails, and Amy made their way to the airport hangar, traversing through the busy downtown streets of Seaside City.
Tails looked down at his duffel bag, switching hands to give his right arm a break before peering back up at the never-ending barrage of pedestrians clogging the sidewalk, perhaps a normal sight for a city dweller but utterly claustrophobic for the small fox who lived in near solitude.
If only we didn’t have these bags, I could fly us to the hangar no problem.
Instead, the gang stood along the side of a busy street corner, vehicles passing by as the heroes waited for the pedestrian crossing sign to light up.
Amy folded her arms and sighed, watching the stream of cars travel either direction.
“Why is this taking so long? Do you think the light’s busted, Tails?” Amy turned to the orange fox, who was staring at his feet, a blank expression on his face.
It felt like Eggman was waiting for us to arrive. Did he just want to pick a fight for kicks, or was it a trap to lure us in to steal the Chaos Emerald?
“Tails?”
But how would Eggman have known we’d have th…
“Tails!”
“Wooahh, what?” Tails shook his head and looked forward, an angry pink hedgehog staring back at him.
“I was just asking if you thought…” She was interrupted by the clicking sound of the pedestrian crossing signal, the LED red hand transitioning to an image of a walking Mobian.
“…never mind.” The trio walked across the street, Sonic propping his head up with his hands while Amy walked alongside her self-described boyfriend. The young kitsune, meanwhile, remained a few feet behind the two hedgehogs, walking aimlessly.
Surely there is no other logical explanation. Eggman is sadistic, sure, but even his motives go beyond mindless destruction.
“Yo Tails, wanna step it up a bit?” Sonic spun around, walking backward as he observed his little brother falling behind, a frown on his face.
No. This is the only possible reason. Eggman has…
The orange kitsune collided with Sonic’s belly. Falling to his back, he rubbed his backside with closed eyes, lightly bruised from the surprise fall.
“Owww.” He looked up to find his older brother, a friendly hand reaching down to him, a smile on his face.
“Ya gotta be careful where you’re walkin’, lil’ bro.”
“Thanks, Sonic.” Miles grabbed hold of Sonic’ hand, allowing himself to be pulled up.
“You’ve been quiet this whole time. Somethin’ on your mind?”
“Well, yeah…” Tails placed his hands on his forehead, trying to retrace his thoughts.
“Wait…” Tails’ body froze, wearing a blank facial expression as he stared at the bag to his side, busy Mobians stepping by him.
“What’s wrong, buddy?” Sonic placed his hand on Tails’ shoulder as the young fox peered back up at the blue hedgehog.
“We’re in big trouble.”
“What d’ya mean?” Sonic chuckled nervously as he slowly retracted his hand.
“We’ve gotta move!” The determined fox sprang forward, running in the direction of the hangar, passing Amy as his namesakes began to rotate. He hardly made it a half city block, however, before he was stopped by the blue blur, whizzing past him and blocking his path.
“Okay, mind sharin’ what’s gotten you all worked up?” Sonic observed the surprised kitsune, who breathed deeply before letting out a big sigh.
“Eggman can detect Chaos Emeralds.”
“What? You mean like the detector you have?”
“Well, yeah…if it worked.” Tails grabbed his dangling left arm with his right hand, his lips quivering as his eyes met the sidewalk. Sonic frowned as he looked down at the troubled fox before him.
Shoot…why’d I have to go n’ bring that up?
Amy caught up to the brotherly duo, dragging the duffel bags with either hand with great effort.
“What’s going on here guys?” Amy asked between labored breaths, joining Sonic in peering at the orange kitsune. Looking back at the two hedgehogs, he sighed once more.
This’ll be faster if I just explain myself.
“You see,” Tails sat on a nearby sidewalk bench, Amy and Sonic joining him, “Eggman must’ve known we had a Chaos Emerald at home, so he attacked the city to lure us out and snag it for himself.” The fox’s fist collided with the palm of his other hand. “It’s the only reason why attacking downtown made any sense at all.”
“Suppose you’re right.” Sonic leaned closer to his younger brother. “How would he know we’d bring it with us?”
“Well…I…” Tails looked at his dangling feet in front of him before swinging back around to face the blue hedgehog. “…He could’ve had some Egg Pawns infiltrate the workshop while we were away.”
“True…” Sonic raised a gloved hand to his chin. “Hey Ames, what do you think?”
“Sounds possible. Why else would Eggman attack the city without an army of robots backing him up? He clearly wasn’t planning on taking over the city by himself.” With arms crossed and eyes closed, Amy nodded to herself. “I think Tails is right.”
Tails stood up and watched the passing vehicles on the road in front of him, his fists balling up as he sniffled, trying to hold back tears.
“You okay, buddy?” Sonic joined his little brother, wrapping his right arm around Tails’ back and placing his hand on the kitsune’s shoulder. He continued sniffling, a small tear escaping from his closed eyes before pushing the blue hedgehog away, kicking a metal garbage can off its foundation, trash spewing along the side of the road.
“I’m such an idiot, Sonic!” The fox collapsed to his knees, tears pouring out of his eyes as he cried in frustration. “I’ve been lounging around for an entire week while Eggman has been collecting the Chaos Emeralds.” He looked back up at the concerned, speechless hedgehog, his vision obscured. “Why didn’t I realize it sooner, Sonic!?” Slamming his fist against the pavement multiple times, he cried through the pain reverberating through his recovering hand.
“It’s okay, Tails.” Sonic got down to his knee, gently pushing the distressed fox’s chin up with his hand, the two brothers locking eyes. “No one realized what was goin’ on, and you needed that time to recover.” The blue hedgehog offered his hand to Tails once more, who accepted it, allowing his older brother to pull him up from the sidewalk. “Even if we went after Eggman sooner, I would have had to go it alone...and there is no way I would’ve fought Eggman’s mechs without you by my side.”
“…Sonic…” Tails stared at his older brother, his tears still flowing as he approached him with arms forward. The two brothers shared a long hug, Sonic patting Tails on the back as he felt a few drips roll down his chest. Sonic’s warm touch helped soothe the young fox, whose tears eventually ebbed, the orange kitsune resting his face against his older brother.
Sonic gently pulled himself away from the young fox, still holding him by the shoulders as he got a good look at Tails’ face, his muzzle covered with tears. Using the back of his gloved fingers, Sonic dried the tears around his eyes before running his hands through Tails’ fluffy muzzle, capturing as much of the moisture as he could before stepping back once more.
“So…wanna go kick Eggman’s butt?”
Tails smiled, wiping his nose with his arm before nodding approvingly.
“Hey guys.” Sonic and Tails turned around to see Amy standing next to an open taxi door. “With our luggage, it’ll be faster to get there by car, so let’s go!”
“Right!” the brothers said in unison, grabbing their bags and throwing them into the trunk before getting in the backseat on either side of the pink hedgehog, all but forgetting the garbage strewn along the sidewalk from the toppled garbage can, now blowing across the street.
“The airport, please.”
“Alright, Miss.” The cab driver, a Mobian skunk with sunglasses, tipped his ivy cap before pulling into traffic.
The party remaining silent for several minutes before the blue hedgehog began to fidget in his seat, tapping his foot against the floor of the car.
“Man, this stinks.” Sonic crossed his arms, looking out the window as he watched pedestrians slowly walk up and down the sidewalk across the street.
“Hey man, hope you’re not talkin’ about me.” The driver peered at the blue hedgehog through the rearview mirror.
“No, no! I meant…our speed! We’re going so slow.” Sonic looked back up at the driver, nervously matching the glare he received from the cabbie. Amy cleared her throat.
“What he meant to say was that we’re in a rush and will pay you double if you get us to the airport faster.”
“Ohh, why didn’t you say so?” The driver’s demeanor instantly changed as he pulled into the far-left lane and accelerated, going fast enough to pass the slower traffic to their right but slow enough to prevent the unwanted attention of a patrol officer.
“Ahh yeah, now this is happenin’!” Sonic opened the backseat window and stuck his head out, feeling the cool breeze flow through his quills. Tails looked over at the blue hedgehog and laughed.
“You goof.” He reached over Amy to playfully punch Sonic’s shoulder.
“What can I say? I’m a sucker for speed, even if we are still goin’ slow.” Sonic pulled his head back into the car and turned his attention to the driver.
“Any chance ya can step it up more?”
“Sorry kid, gotta obey the traffic laws.” With a grin, Amy touched Sonic’s leg, winking at him before looking up at the cabbie.
“We’ll triple your fare.” Sonic smiled at the pink hedgehog as they locked eyes, blushing at the closest thing to a romantic moment the two had ever experienced. Ending just as it began, Sonic pushed Amy aside and poked his head between the two front seats.
“Ya heard the girl, put the pedal to the metal!”
“Right away.” The driver shifted gears before accelerating faster, swerving past other drivers in their wake, many angerly honking their horns. He veered toward the interstate, pushing his speed even further.
The blue hedgehog leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes as the driver careened down the busy highway. He was rarely the passenger in a fast car, but as it turned out, allowing someone else to take the wheel was rather therapeutic for the blue blur, for once not having to work for the speed.
As Amy made her move, cuddling against the relaxed blue hedgehog, the orange kitsune was left alone, giving him time to think as he peered out the window.
We may be late, but we’ll figure things out for sure. We’ll stop Eggman before he can…hatch…his evil plan.
Tails chuckled to himself.
“What’s so funny?” Amy looked over at the orange kitsune.
“Ohh, nothing.” Tails smiled as he placed his hands behind his head before returning his gaze to the outside window, losing himself in thought once more.
How does Sonic do it? One second I’m bawling my eyes out, and the next I feel way better.
The fox looked back over at the relaxing blue hedgehog, laying his head back against the seat without a care in the world, Amy nestled beside him.
I wish I could stay so relaxed and cool-headed all the time...or at least hide it better like him.
Tails sighed as he rested an arm on the side of the door, using it to prop up his head. Watching the tall buildings along the perimeter of the highway, he recognized the area they were passing through.
Heh…things returned to normal pretty quickly.
Indeed, it took only a few days for municipal workers to clear the destruction wrought by Dr. Eggman. No longer were the streets littered with destroyed vehicles, shattered glass, and twisted, fiery metal; it looked as nice as it did prior to Robotnik’s surprise onslaught.
At least someone’s doing their job…
Feeling another mood swing kicking in, Tails tried to push his guilt back into his subconscious, opening his window and resting his hand against the door on the outer side, not brave enough to completely stick his cranium out of the car like his big brother. The cool air felt nice against his gloved hand, the wind flowing up his furry arm. He forced a smile as he kept his mind occupied with the outside world, hoping to distract himself from his own thoughts.
*****
Skidding to a stop, the taxi came to rest in front of the airport, the driver closing the windows as he looked back at his customers.
“Well, I got y’all here in record time…”
“Ohh, right.” Amy reached into her hammerspace and pulled out the driver’s fare, three times the amount which appeared on the small LED screen on the back of the front seats.
“Much obliged.” He tipped his hat and pressed a button on his dashboard, the trunk popping open.
Sonic unbuckled his seatbelt and stretched his legs. “Thanks for the ride, p—” His compliment was cut short by the sound of police sirens behind the cab, the flashing blue and red lights piercing their eyes before they had the opportunity to cover them.
The driver banged his fist against the steering wheel, cussing profusely. “I can’t have another incident on my driving record! I’ll lose my license for sure.”
Sonic tapped the driver’s shoulder. “Relax, man. We got this.” Without explaining himself, Sonic stepped out of the car, followed by Amy and Tails. The cabbie eyed the trio through his rearview mirror as they approached the officer, a slender, gray dog who stayed in his car, his facial expression loosening up at the sight of the world-renowned hero. He stepped out to address the party.
“G’day Sonic. I’ve been tailing this cab for a few miles. Was gonna issue a citation, but if he was helping you with hero work, I’ll give ‘im a pass.”
“Good deal.” Sonic gave the officer a thumbs-up.
The dog’s attention turned from the blue hedgehog to the orange kitsune, his eyes half-closed as he focused on him suspiciously.
“That fox on the other hand…” The officer pointed a finger at Tails. “…he’s a different story.”
“M…me?” Tails pointed a finger at his chest.
“Yes, you. We’ve heard reports of a short, young fox with two tails kicking over a trash can and spilling garbage on public property.”
The fox stepped back, the emotional incident resurfacing as he became teary-eyed once more.
“W…well, you see…”
Amy placed a hand on his shoulder before stepping forward.
“I’ll take it from here.” She stood in front of the officer, who was twice her height, clearing her throat.
“He didn’t mean to do it. It was an accident.”
“Oh yeah? Well how does someone accidentally kick over a garbage can?”
Amy froze up.
“Ummm…” She ran a gloved hand through her short quills, looking away from the intimidating officer.
“No, Amy.” Tails planted his feet next to the pink hedgehog, his eyes closed and face pointing downward. “I don’t have a good excuse. Take me away.” He raised his arms up, positioning his wrists to make it easier to be restrained. Sonic watched from Tails’ side, his pupils shaking as the officer appeared to be reaching for his handcuffs.
Putting his hands back down, the dog let out a bellowing laugh.
“Huh?” Tails was confused, thinking he’d committed a crime and would need to suffer the consequences of his actions.
“I was just gonna issue a citation, but I’ll just let ya off with a warning for your honesty.”
“Ohh.” Tails put his arms down and looked up at the dog above him, chuckling nervously. “Thanks for not arresting me…”
Giving the three heroes a handshake, he got back into his squad car and left the airport, munching a half-eaten donut as he sped away.
“Phew.” Tails exhaled deeply, wiping sweat from his brow. “I thought I was a goner for sure.” Looking over at Sonic, he saw him with his hands on his knees and breathing heavily, no longer feeling the need to maintain a cool posture now that the officer was gone.
“Sonic…” Tails approached the blue hedgehog, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Sorry I scared you like that.”
“No…it’s fine, Tails.” He turned his face, looking into his concerned brothers’ eyes before giving him a smile of assurance.
The cab driver honked his horn, prompting the heroes to turn around.
“Am I free to go then?”
After giving him the green light, and grabbing their belongings from the trunk, the cabbie drove away, searching for his next fare.
Tails faced the airport entrance before turning his head to the left, observing a gated, non-commercial airstrip in the distance, the number “18” displayed across the yellow structure of the nearby hangar in blocky white text. The young kitsune squinted his eyes, placing a hand over his brow to get a better look; he could make out the unmistakable Tornado 2 resting inside the structure.
“Hey gang, follow me!” The determined kitsune waved at the hedgehogs, beckoning them to follow him to the gate. Sonic and Amy obeyed, following the eager kitsune as he was about to be reunited with his pride and joy.
Halfway through the gate, however, the fox was stopped by a baton blocking his path. Looking up, he witnessed the menacing sight of a muscular security guard, the Mobian lion’s mane flowing in the wind and his sharp teeth exposed, sending shivers down Tails’ spine.
“Where do you think you’re goin’, small fry?”
“Oh, well…ummm…” Tails dropped the bag and played with his fingers, fidgeting his legs as he struggled to respond to the authority figure blocking his way. “…my plane is over there.” The young fox pointed in the direction of the hangar, the biplane visible under the ever-darkening clouds covering the landing strip.
“You…a pilot?” The guard scoffed. “Don’t make me laugh. Are they just giving pilot licenses to anyone nowadays?”
“Hey pal!” Sonic came to Tails’ defense, the guard’s snickering laugh disappearing as his eyes crossed paths with the blue hedgehog. “Whatja say about my little bro?” Sonic’s hands tightened into fists as he stared intently at the guard.
“Ohh, Sonic…” he dropped his baton and ran a claw through his mane. “…I didn’t know he was with you.”
“And?” The blue blur got within inches of the guard, who was having a difficult time keeping cool under pressure. “You’re gonna apologize to my friend here and let us through, capeesh?”
“Umm…ughhh…” The lion struggled for words as his attention turned back to the fox, who now gave the once menacing lion a firm stare, hands on his hips and determination in his eyes.
“Sorry friend…I’m jus’ overworked is all…damn boss won’t give us breaks, man.”
“Yeah?” Tails kicked the baton between the guard’s legs, his eyes blazing with anger. “C’mon guys!” The determined fox led the hedgehogs through the gate, the lion stepping back to give them ample room.
As the trio approached the hangar, Sonic observed Tails’ balled fists and fluttering namesakes as he marched the group along.
Strange. I’ve never seen Tails act like this before. Maybe I should say something?
“Ya okay, bro?”
Tails looked to his right to find Sonic walking alongside, as if materializing out of thin air.
“That guy back there…” Tails stopped and pointed backward. “He reminded me just how defenseless and weak I can be.” He sighed as he turned to the blue hedgehog, exhaling deeply. “But when you came to defend me, I was filled with a vigor that made me feel…invincible…ya know?”
Sonic raised a gloved finger to his chin as the orange kitsune continued.
“Whenever we’re together, I feel like nothing can hurt me, even if I were staring down death’s door. I just…” Tails turned away, looking down at the dark pavement. “I need to learn to be brave alone. As much as I’d like you to protect me all the time, there’ll be times when I’ll need to stand up for myself.” He walked toward the hangar once more, his face forward, namesakes dragging against the concrete. “I just don’t know how…”
Sonic allowed their distance to grow as he watched Tails walk away.
“Is something wrong, Sonic?” Amy approached the blue blur, whose eyes were fixated on his little brother.
“Everything’s cool, Ames.” He put on a smile, one that failed to convince either hedgehog as Sonic proceeded to follow Tails to the hangar. Sighing deeply, the pink hedgehog followed suit.
*****
Entering the enclosed structure, Sonic and Amy watched as Tails placed a palm on the body of the Tornado 2.
“I’ve missed you so much…I hope they’ve been taking good care of you in here.” The orange kitsune swiped his hand over the slick metal side of the biplane, pampering it as if it were a pet. “I’m sure they did, but let me check a few things before take-off, okay?” Pausing for a few moments, as if waiting for the plane’s permission, Tails spotted a creeper a few feet away. The young fox retrieved it, rested his back against its cushioned surface, and kicked himself under the aircraft. Taking a screwdriver out from his utility belt, he opened a small hatch, wires contained therein which helped give the plane its power.
“Hmmm…everything looks good here.” Pulling himself out from under the biplane, Tails wiped his brow and flew up toward the propeller, using his screwdriver to open the compartment that housed the engine.
“Hey Tails, you about ready yet?” Sonic tapped his foot with impatience.
“Almost there, Sonic…just gotta check this…and that…and…” The kitsune’s voice trailed off, Sonic chuckling to himself as he watched his younger brother in his element, spending several minutes inspecting the engine. “…All right, everything looks normal.” Tails shut the engine door and floated to the ground below, grease covering his hands and orange fur. Wiping a bit more sweat from his forehead, he managed to smear the black sludge across his face.
“Hey guys…what’s so funny?” Tails placed a finger against his chin, covering the bottom of his muzzle with the black substance as well.
“You should see yourself, bro!” Sonic pointed at his face. “You look like you’re goin’ to war.”
“Huh?” Tails looked down at his gloves to find them covered in grease. Amy pulled a handheld mirror from her hammerspace, pointing it in the fox’s direction.
“Take a look for yourself, Tails.” He peered within, discovering exactly why the hedgehog duo was laughing at him. Blushing, he itched the back of his head, smearing even more of the grease around his triangular ears, causing them to laugh even more.
“Not to mention you reek, man!” Sonic pointed at his younger brother, pinching his nose with his other hand.
“Huh?” Tails smelled his armpits, retracting his nose as his face contorted, realizing Sonic’s assessment was correct.
“At least I was the one stuck in the hospital! You had no excuse!” They laughed some more, Tails giggling the loudest. “I suppose I deserved that, though…”
The trio hopped into the biplane, Tails taking his seat at the wheel while Amy sat behind him.
“Ohhhhhhh Sonic!” Amy waved to the blue hedgehog, who took his spot on the leftmost wing. “I can always sit on your lap y’know!” Sonic shivered at the thought before tapping the wing with the tip of his shoe.
“Nooooo thank you. I’ve got a seat right here!” He pointed down at the metal wing below with a smirk on his face.
“Hmph…” Amy crossed her arms and looked away. “Well, it was worth a shot, I guess.”
“All right, gang.” Tails flicked some knobs and pulled some levers on his dashboard, the Tornado 2 coming to life as the propellers began to spin. “It’s time we head back to the wo—” His declaration was interrupted by an incoming call on his wristwatch communicator. “…Just a second guys, I’m getting a transmission from Knuckles.”
Pressing a few buttons on the watch, a projected live feed from Knuckles’ own device hovered over his wrist.
“Tails, you readin’ me?”
“Loud and clear, Knuckles. What’s up?”
The red echidna pulled out the green emerald, showing it to the party.
“Woahh! How’d you get it back?”
Knuckles looked back at Rouge, who was lying in the bed behind him.
“It’s…a long story.”
*****
Sometime prior, Knuckles was making his way through the thick vegetation of Angel Island, carefully lugging the jewel thief over his shoulder as he used his other hand to push the foliage to the side, occasionally wiping rainwater from his eyes.
“…K…Knuckles…” Rouge was hardly awake.
“Don’t worry. We’ll get you healed up.”
A few minutes passed, and the rivals found themselves in the well-kept valley where Knuckles lived and guarded the Master Emerald. He breathed a sigh of relief as he eyed the stone shrine, the mystical gem resting at the top undisturbed; normally he would have inspected the emerald more closely after such a trek, but tending to Rouge’s wounds was more important at the moment.
The red echidna opened the cabin door and turned on the lights, taking the bat to his small bedroom, placing her over the covers as she winced in pain, wet from the rain. Knuckles left momentarily, coming back with some basic medical supplies.
“All right, bat…where does it hurt?” She slowly reached her arm toward her left knee, a scrape visible through the rip in her latex pants.
“This is gonna sting a little.” Knuckles swabbed the wound with a wet towel, Rouge’s face scrunching up as her lips quivered from the pain. Setting the rag aside, the red echidna squeezed some ointment onto a cotton swab, rubbing it against the gash. Finally, he affixed a sticky bandage over the layer of ointment.
Knuckles repeated this ritual several times, the jewel thief pointing to each part of her body that hurt so he could tend to each individual lesion, tear, and abrasion. After treating each injury, the echidna pulled out a fresh towel, doing his best to dry the wet bat before pulling a blanket over her. He turned off the lights as he left the room, eager to check on the Master Emerald.
Waiting a few minutes, the bat twitched her ears, trying to detect any noise in the cabin that’d suggest Knuckles was still inside. When the coast was clear, Rouge pushed the blanket to the side and climbed off the bed, still wet after Knuckles’ shabby attempt at drying her off.
“It was so nice for you to patch me up, Knucky.” She observed the bandages around her arms and legs. “I hate to dine and dash, but this lady’s got places to be.” Looking out the window, she spotted Knuckles standing guard at the base of the shrine facing the cabin, the rain not fazing the determined guardian.
“I’m gonna need to find the back exit.” She explored the sparsely furnished cabin, discovering a small window on the opposite side of Knuckles’ home.
“Bingo.” She opened the window, stepping out and dropping to the grass below.
“Going so soon?”
“Hmmm?” Rouge looked up to see Knuckles standing before her, his arms folded as he glared at the fleeing bat.
“Hiya cutie, didn’t think you’d come strolling around here.” She blew the red echidna a kiss, a smirk on her face as Knuckles’ muzzle became red, matching the color of his fur. He shook himself out of it a few seconds later.
“Hey, don’t toy with me, bat! Now that you’re feeling better…” Knuckles made air quotes with his gloved paws. “…I think it’s time you owed me an explanation.”
“Ohh, an explanation?” Rouge attempted to use her feminine wiles to escape the persistent echidna. “You helped this poor, defenseless girl out…maybe you deserve a kiss?”
“I SAID don’t toy with me!” Knuckles’ rage grew as flames lit up in his eyes, his fists shaking as he clenched his teeth. He pulled Rouge around the cabin by the arm, dragging the bat through the front door and placing her back on the bed.
“Now,” Knuckles began, taking a seat on a nearby chair, “what are you doing on my island?”
“It’s a free Mobius, isn’t it?” Rouge folded her arms, looking away from the red echidna. “This lady can do whatever she pleases. I was just sightseeing.”
“Sightseeing, huh?” Knuckles grinned at the bat’s story, chuckling to himself. “Don’t suppose your little tour included a surprise crash landing?”
“And what if it did?” It was her turn to smile, watching the red echidna’s anger continue to rise.
“Okay, I’ve heard enough out of you.” Knuckles approached the bat, pulling the drawstring bag from her waist.
“I wanted to respect your privacy and not sneak through your junk, but you’ve forced my hand.”
“Wait! Don’t open that bag!” Rouge raised her hand toward Knuckles, trying to snag her loot from his paws, but it was too late; the echidna pulled the drawstring, dumping the green Chaos Emerald into the palm of his hand.
“What the…” His eyes widened as he observed the sparkling gem before returning his gaze to the jewel thief.
“You can start by explaining how you managed to steal this from Dr. Eggman.”
“Oh pleazzzee, any fool could easily waltz into Eggman’s base and steal from right under his nose.”
Knuckles placed his gloved paw on his forehead.
“Look Rouge, this isn’t a game. I need you to tell me all you learned at Eggman’s headquarters.”
“And why should I do that?” She gave the red echidna a grin, crossing her legs as she sat on the side on the bed.
“Because the world is at stake, you dumb bat!” Knuckles raised his voice once more, unable to negotiate with someone as difficult as Rouge. “This is far beyond either of us. We need to know what he’s up to so we can stop him.”
“Hmmm…” The jewel thief placed a gloved finger to her lips. “I suppose I could give you the inside scoop…but it’ll cost you.”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Rouge glanced out the window, eying the Master Emerald glistening in the rain.
“…Wait. You can’t be serious! There is no way I’d ever give you the Master Emerald!”
“Okay then…” Rouge stretched her arm out, raising her fingers as she playfully inspected her nails, covered by her silk gloves. “…then how about you take me for a night out on the town?”
“Excuse me?” Now Knuckles was really confused. “You want me to do what now?”
“You heard me.” Rouge stood up and approached the red echidna. “I’ll tell you everything I learned in exchange for a date. Seems fair, doesn’t it?”
Knuckles stepped back, blushing at the embarrassing thought of being out in public with a woman like her.
“…Why don’t you ask Sonic? We could give him a call right now…” Knuckles pulled out his wristwatch communicator, gifted to him by Tails for emergencies such as these. Rouge placed an arm on Knuckles’ wrist, gently pushing it down.
“With Sonic? He’s handsome, sure, but I want to avoid Amy’s rage, thank you very much.”
“All right…” Knuckles placed a gloved finger to his chin. “How about Tails?”
“Tails?! What is he, like, eight? What kinda person do you take me for, anyway?”
“Ummmm…” Knuckles turned his eyes away from Rouge, putting his head down in thought before twisting around to face the jewel thief once more.
“Okay, fine! I’ll agree to this…but taking out Eggman is our number one priority.” Knuckles activated his wristwatch. “We can have our little date later.”
“Suit yourself, Knucky.” Rouge allowed herself to fall on the bed, placing her hands behind her head for support as she crossed her legs.
A projected image of the orange kitsune appeared over Knuckles’ wrist. He was sitting in the cockpit of the Tornado 2, his face visibly dirty. He spotted Amy behind, lifting her head up above the pilot’s seat.
“Tails, you readin’ me?”
“Loud and clear, Knuckles. What’s up?”
The red echidna pulled out the green emerald, showing it to the party.
“Woahh! How’d you get it back?”
Knuckles looked back at the injured bat, who was lying in the bed behind him.
“It’s…a long story. Rouge snuck into Eggman’s base and snagged the emerald before crash-landing on my doorstep. Anyway, the bat hasn’t told me everything…I figured she could just explain it to us all when you arrive.”
“We’ll be there as soon as possible, Knuckles.” Tails gave the red echidna a thumbs up.
“Understood.” Knuckles ended the call, turning his attention back to the jewel thief. “Now I need you to sit tight and wait for my guests to arrive.” He turned to the door.
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll try to escape again?”
“We have an agreement, right? You want this date so badly, so you won’t go flyin’ off, especially without the Chaos Emerald.” Knuckles placed the gem in his dreadlocks, tossing the drawstring bag back on the bed as he began walking out of the bedroom.
“And besides…” he stopped at the edge of the doorway. “I have some soup to make.”
Rouge smiled to herself as Knuckles left the room, twirling the small bag by its drawstring as she lay in bed.
Knuckles is so gullible.
It’s almost kinda cute.

The Perfect Storm
South Italy/Romano (Lovino Vargas) x Reader
Warnings: N/A
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Im looking for the girl with golden hair, she glistens in the sun like a white flower and has the eyes of the clearest blue!" His arms flailed about frantically.
"Good, now when she walks away try grabbing onto her arm or something, just make it look as though you really need help!" I directed, looking up at the actors on the theatre stage. Francis, my lead actor, was in the middle of his scene in my play, 'A Two Lovers Tale', his co-actors were very passionate about this type of work and they worked hard to do well, I appreciated the effort from them all. But then there was Lovino, he insisted on getting a small role in the play and then complained that he didn't have enough lines, but he was our best actor so we put up with him. Unluckily for us Lovino had a twin brother named Feliciano, he was very.... weird could be a word? But never-the-less they were both excellent actors and were needed to improve on skills of all areas. I turned to my co-director and flat mate Elizabeta Héderváry, as usual she had her nose in a book and paid no attention to the performance what-so-ever, I sighed, turning my attention back to the stage I spot Lin Yi Ling, the youngest of the group as well as the most motivated in the company, shyly playing her role as a random commoner on the street that just happened to be attacked by Francis' sharp, loud acting.
The play reached it's climax when a rude interruption brought us to a halt, the doors flew open with great, extravagant force making a large BANG sound as they hit the wall next to them. "Gilbert..." I sighed as the noisy albino entered the room, followed by a very timid-looking Matthew and his brother Alfred after that who was striking what was supposed to be a hero pose? Anyway, I glanced at my watch for a moment before deciding, "Right! That's a wrap, pack up, go home and I'll see you all this Saturday, Don't forget or I will have your heads on a plate and give it to Arthur to cook!!" I stated as everyone started making their way out, I sent Elizabeta home without me too as I had a lot of paper work to complete and she wasn't very interested in things like that.
"BYE!!!" Gilbert and Alfred called out in unison as the noisiest ones left first.
"Bye..." Matthew almost whispered as he left with most of the girls following suit, I waved all of them off and then attended the work I had, completely immersed I hadn't noticed the Vargas brother still in the room.
"Later Feli" The voice jolted me out of my concentration, I looked up to see Lovino watching me from the opposite end of the desk.
"You can go home you know." I said after returning to my work, he replied with a 'Yep' and carried on watching me, forgetting about his presence in the room I started humming the first tune that popped into my head to pass the time.
I had finished my work around 7 o'clock and it was already dark, when I remembered the man in the room I turned to find him asleep on the desk, his face was so cute when he slept 'wait. Cute?!?! Snap out of it Y/N, he won't like you, you're not his type...' I reminded myself before heading over to wake the Italian to shoo him off home. "Lovino, you need to wake up now!" I sang loudly before he awoke with a start and glared around the room as his eyes settled on me they softened slightly, "I'm leaving so get your butt out the door!" I said whilst turning on my heel and heading outside.
"Wait!!" He called out to me, I turned and stared at his features, his strange curl on his head, his brown hair, his beautiful hazel eyes. I looked at him with confusion written all over my face when he sighed and then offered to walk me home, I accepted and we both escaped through the door and locking it after we left. My home was about 45 minutes walk away from the theatre so we took our time, for me, mainly for me to spend some more time with Lovino but I don't know why he was being slow too...
We were about half way when a large thundering sound came from the dark, grey, overcast sky, I flinched slightly as my phonophobia kicked in, the rain rolled in like a ball rolling over grass and it was heavy. Luckily there was a bus stop near by so we took shelter underneath that as the rain pelted down to earth, "Where did that come from?" I started muttering to myself, "The weather forecast was sunny and super hot all day!" I whined under my breath as Lovino looked at me in amusement, I started combing through my hair with my fingers as my eyes scanned the sky for any sign of the rain letting up, unfortunately there was nothing.
I sighed and shivered slightly as a rush of cold ran through me from the rain and the state of my clothes and hair, Lovino looked the same, he had ringing wet clothes and soaked hair. I shuffled closer to him on my seat in hopes of finding some much needed warmth, he looked at me as I got closer, I weakly smiled back before he put an arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. My face heated up when another large boom erupted from the sky and I jumped slightly in his arms, now blushing from two things at once my face was officially warm, "Your scared of thunder?" the Italian asked quizzically, I just nodded hoping he'd leave me alone and not tease me like the kids at school used to do, his grip on me tightened as he brought my head into his chest, I felt somewhat safer there.
"Lo-Lovino?" Damn my stuttering, Lovino just smiled kindly and my face burned up more and more, I pried myself away for a moment.
"Cute..." I whispered when his face gained a pink tint and he pouted and looked away, I smiled and giggled slightly before doing something absolutely daring. I kissed his cheek and smiled widely at him, he smiled meekly before pulling my waist once more and linking his lips with mine, I felt so much love from that one kiss so I returned the favour.
"I... Love... You..." He whispered in my ear after we pulled out of the kiss.
"I love you... Too..." I whispered back, we sat there in each other's embrace for hours until the rain stopped and we went home hand in hand, it sure was a perfect storm...
The sun spilt orange hues over the cloud spotted sky. What a contrast to the motives of your plan.
"This is gonna be hard, you know," you said to Edward as you climbed the stairs to the helm.
"This is new, yes, but there is nothing the two of us can't do!" You rolled your eyes teasingly. "Don't worry, lass; the documents will be ours very soon. In the meantime, tell us what you can see with a bird's eye view."
Your eyes followed his gaze up to the Crow's Nest. "Will do." With a light jog, you headed towards the lift, calmly snapping the rope and rushing up to the top of the mast. The adrenaline had started flowing. You scaled the last few bits to the top and looked back down to Edward, giving him a small wave.
You preferred it up here; the scenery really was beautiful. You should remember to bring your sketchbook next time. "Be ready, lads!" Edward called, and you looked to the fort, which seemed impenetrable.
Oh well, let's see what happens.
[#^•^#]
"Brace!"
"Shit!" You once again fell backwards, but this time slid through the railing of the nest, and you were now clinging on for dear life at an awkward angle. There were no footholds or anything you could steady yourself with. "Fuck!" You swore again, trying to lift yourself onto the platform. It was too twisted to reach for anything.
"Y/N!" That was Edward's voice.
"Yeah?" You called down, adjusting your sweaty grip.
"I'm coming! Hold on!"
"Well, I haven't got anything better to do." That last part was whispered under your breath. To your relief, Edward came relatively quickly.
"Here." His hand locked onto your wrist and as you let go he pulled you up. He was holding onto a length of rope to prevent himself from falling as he held onto you tightly. "Are you okay?"
You glanced at the blisters beginning to form on your hands. "Perfect." You smiled. "Thank you." You planted a quick kiss on his cheek.
Even though you've been lovers for a few short months, you still made him blush like a schoolboy.
A sudden rumble unsteadied you. "Dock the ship!" Edward demanded. "Let's go get those documents."
The damaged fort made for an easy entrance when following the rest of your crew through the rubble. The sight before you was utter chaos, with brawls and sword fights left, right, and centre. "There!" Edward pointed to a set of double doors around three stories up.
You followed him to a wall behind the mess. "It's way too high," you sighed, looking up at the daunting stone.
"'Too high' my arse," Edward scoffed. "Here." He firmly planted his feet and made his hands form a secure foothold for you.
"Thanks." You grasped his shoulders, placing your foot on his palms, and was about to pull yourself up when you locked eyes with his. His eyebrows squinted in a daring fashion. Without hesitation, you pecked his lips with a hidden smile. As you pulled apart, Edward smirked.
"What are you waiting for, lass?" His eyebrow cocked with subtle sass. You rolled your eyes jokingly and pulled yourself onto his shoulders. You still couldn't reach.
"You need to give me an extra boost!" You called. "Now!"
You never heard him break a sweat as he gave you momentum to leap the small distance to grasp the slightly slippery stone. Pulling yourself over the ledge, you turned around to reach for Edward's hand.
He backed up a few paces, before launching towards the wall at a lightning fast pace. You grasped each other's wrists tightly as he came thundering up the stone rather supernaturally.
Whilst you were in the process of pulling him up, you spotted a soldier heading right towards the two of you– and you stuck on your stomach with Edward around three meters off the floor (he was very skilled in wall running) was not the preferred position to be in.
"Look out!" You both yelled at each other. As if you were gazing into a mirror, you took out flintlocks and shot at the opposing threats. It was only after you took notice of both your guns pointing behind each other that you began to laugh.
You looked behind you. "My hero," you grinned, hinting at sarcasm.
"Just pull me up before my arm falls off!"
You did as you were told with ease, only hindered with slight difficulty; you and Edward were as strong as each other. "Great," you huffed. "Time for the easy part."
Edward followed you up the walls to the floor with your destination. You gestured Edward to freeze his movement whilst you peered over the top. Strangely, there was no movement outside. "Come on," you whispered, hoisting yourself up.
Edward grasped for your robes as he clambered up after you. "I don't like this, Y/N," he breathed.
"We have no choice. We'll take it as it comes, alright?" You didn't give him a chance to reply as you unsheathed your sword and headed to the door. Edward huffed in slight irritation at your eagerness, but followed nevertheless. It just didn't sit right with him.
You took a deep breath, and when Edward readied himself, you kicked open the doors, sword in your hand and a gun in Edward's. you sliced through the first man to aggressively approach. Edward mowed down everyone except for the commanding officer– the one you needed.
"Hello, mate," Edward chirped, voice laced with a sarcastic undertone. "We've come to collect something of ours." His flintlock twirled around his fingers expertly. The officer calmly raised his hands. This made Edward uneasy, but he made a good job of hiding it.
"Please, help yourself. I only ask for one thing in return."
"I'm not giving you anything," Edward sneered.
"Are you sure I can't... change your mind?"
Arms came at you from behind. One came around your neck while the other clutched at your free arm, holding it behind you. Your sword clattered to the floor. "Shite," you whispered.
Edward swung around and pointed his gun at your captor. "Let her go." His glare sent chills down your spine, and he wasn't even looking at you. You could feel muscles tense behind you; it made a smile crack at the corners of your lips.
The officer pulled out his own flintlock, aiming it at Edward. Every time you tried  to struggle, your choke hold tightened. Edward pulled another gun out of his holster, holding one at each head. "What do you want?"
"I want the map to the observatory."
"What are you talking about?" He lied. "I don't have a map to an observatory."
"I think we both know that's not quite true." He clicked his fingers, and the man holding you pulled out a blade and held it to your chest. "Be a good man and put down the guns."
Edward slowly bent down and dropped the firearms to his feet, holding his hands up as he straightened. The officer gestured at the guns, and Edward reluctantly kicked them aside. "Now, what does our new helper look like?" He was circled by this new threat. The officer stopped behind him, and Edward could feel his hand clutch the fabric on the back of his head.
He leapt into action the minute his cowl slipped over his face. His elbow connected with the jaw behind him, using his other hand to sharpen the blow with force.
That was when you took your chance and stomped on your restrainer's foot, distracting him from your head butt. You disarmed him easily from then on and threw him to the ground.
"Y/N! We need to leave!" Edward had picked up his flintlocks and holstered them, ushering you out the door.
"But the documents!" You pleaded.
"Forget the documents! We need to go!" He pulled you by the arm into the light of the setting sun.
"After them!" You didn't stop to look around as you and Edward headed towards the ledge and leaped, limbs flailing more than gracefully through the air. An explosion went off behind you, and Edward came to shield you protectively, holding you close. You braced yourself for the landing and it wasn't a disappointment, but Edward's arms immediately detached from you.
The few moments under the water were too calm, not to mention freezing cold. It took a few seconds to get to the surface, and you gratefully inhaled the oxygen once you got to the top.
You looked across the water, searching for Edward. "Ed!" The lack of fabric over your head was a relief; it would have made you colder.
You waited...
And waited...
And waited...
He shot up from behind you, sputtering out any water. "Are you okay?!" You asked worriedly.
"I'm fine." you swum the both of you against the slippery cliff, clutching at any handholds.
"Are you sure?"
"Fire in the hole!" Debris exploded over the ledge and Edward brought his body over yours– one arm around your waist whilst the other held onto a spare hold above you. You both closed your eyes at the inevitable splash that sent chills down both of your spines.
"I'm pretty sure a trickle just went down my neck," you laughed. Edward kissed you behind the ear in response.
"I'm glad you're alright," he turned your head slightly and moved his own to align in front of yours.
"I love you," he muttered, free hand cupping your cheek.
"I love you too." Your forehead and noses touched, and you would have loved to stay in that moment forever, if it weren't for your compromising position.
"There!" Edward pulled you under the water, completely depending on his reflexes. He gestured you to follow. When you couldn't expel any more time underwater, you tugged at Edward's foot and pointed upwards, quietly moving to the surface.
You luckily arose in front of the Jackdaw, where Adéwale was waiting for you, a rope hanging off the side. You wrapped one arm around Edward and the other around the rope while the rest of the crew pulled you both up.
The moment you got on deck you collapsed with exhaustion. "Son. Of. A. Kraken," you sighed.
Edward fell next to you. "That didn't work out as well as I imagined."
You rolled on top of him and hugged him tightly. "No, but if you're good, these next few hours might be."
Their Hero Academia – Chapter 34: The Sports Festival Part 7: Round Three—FIGHT!
Presenting the next raw and unedited chapter of my on-going, next-gen, My Hero Academia fic, Their Hero Academia!
Earlier chapters can be found here
“Yay, she’s waking up!”
Katsumi’s eyes sprung open and she found herself staring into the wide-eyed face of a little blond five year old.  Her younger brother, Tai.  Instantly, he threw his arms around her and squeezed her tight.
Slowly, she put her arms around him.  “Easy there, Squirt,” she said.  “I still kind of feel like I got run over by a train.”
Reluctantly, he pulled his arms away.  “Sorry, Big Sister!  But I was so worried about you!  Papa and Daddy were too!”
“He’s right,” a voice from the foot of the bed said.  Katsumi looked past Tai to see Dad and Papa standing there, Papa looking visibly relieved and even Dad looking slightly more relaxed.
“You have us quite the scare, Kid,” Dad said.  “I had to keep your papa here from rushing the stage.”
Papa turned nearly as red as his hair.  “So I got a little worried!  I’m allowed! It’s my right as a parent!”
“It’s your right to be a dumb…butt,” Dad said, quickly correcting his last word, since he was in front of Tai.
It was only then that Katsumi realized she was in the infirmary.  It all came back to her in a rush, the fight, the numerous chunks of ice she’d taken to the head.  She was certainly never going to underestimate Izzy like that ever again.
Wait.
“Izzy!” she shrieked, making Tai jump in surprise.  And she was probably lucky it didn’t make him explode.  His Quirk to explode himself and reform was on something of a hair-trigger. Dad was teaching him to control it, but accidents still happened. “Is she…?”
“She’s fine,” Dad said. “IcyHot just texted me before you woke up.  Just exhausted herself.  You two smacked each other around pretty good.”
Papa crossed his arms over his chest.  “You gave us quite a shock, young lady,” he said, attempting to look stern and failing at it, like he always did.  “Almost throwing in the towel like that!  What were you thinking?”
Katsumi looked down for a moment.  “Yeah, well, just needed a few things pounded into my head, I guess.”
“Speaking of pounding your head, don’t worry,” Dad said.  “Eri already fixed your nose and wound back some of your other injuries. You’ll be scrapping again in no time.”
“Such a Manly display!” Papa added, his hands in the air in a cheer.  “Both of you, giving it all your fighting spirit!”
Dad gave him a punch in the arm, getting a yelp out of Papa.  “Settle down, you.”   He shook his head.  “But I am proud of you, Kid.  You made the fight decision, fighting.  Still, now I owe IcyHot ¥5000.  So that’s your next several allowances.”   Only the twitching of his lips betrayed that he was probably kidding about that last part.
“You made a bet on our daughter!?” Papa shrieked, placing a hand over his heart.  “Bakubabe, how could you?”
“Relax,” Dad said.  “IcyHot didn’t technically agree to it anyway…”
“I’m sorry you lost, Big Sister,” Tai said, looking so forlorn and sad about it that it took everything Katsumi had not to laugh.
Dad came up behind him and bent down so he was at eye level with Tai.  “Hey, what’d we talk about, champ?”
“That Big Sister tried her best and gave it her all!  And that she’ll try even harder next time! And then she’ll win!”
“Right!” Dad said. “So no frowning, okay?”
“Okay!”
“Do I get a say in this?” Katsumi asked.
As one, Dad and Tai both said, “No!”
So she hadn’t won. Hadn’t even cracked the top eight finalists.   Top sixteen, sure.  But not nearly as good as she’d have liked.  Dad had come in the top three all three of his years at U.A.  Papa had done better than that too.  Maybe she wasn’t as good as she thought she was?
No, she couldn’t go down that line of thought.  She’d been ready to throw in the towel without even trying and come out of that pit motivated to fight as hard as she could.  One blow different, maybe one or two different moves, maybe she’d have been the one coming up on top.  The important thing was that she’d done the Wo-Manly thing and fought to the very end. That was what she had to keep in mind.
“They gonna let me out of here to go see the rest of the show?” she asked.  “I wanna see more of the girl that kicked Monoma’s… butt.”  Right.  Gotta watch the language around Tai.  “Plus Izzy. Did the math.  Whoever won was gonna get to kick the Newb around the ring for a while.  Sorry it ain’t me.  I’d say she’d go soft on him, but she sure as heck didn’t on me…”
Papa nodded.  “Eri said you were good to go when you woke up.”
“But you are supposed to take it easy the next couple days,” Dad added, his tone of voice suggesting he didn’t believe she would.  “Which is why Tai’s going to be on guard duty.”
Tai drew himself up to his full height, proudly.  “I’ll be the best bodyguard ever!”
Katsumi reached over and tussled his hair.  “Sure you will, Squirt.”
It had taken them a bit to clear the rubble and ice that Katsumi and Izumi’s fight had created, with FireFox melting away the ice and Power Loader and a couple Support Class students clearing away the rubble.  So by the time Toshi stepped into the ring, it was practically fresh.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, ignoring the sounds of the crowd.  As the son of the Number One Hero, he’d been in the public eye since he was a baby.  Before he was born, really.  It was easy enough to tune it out.  And he was definitely going to need his wits about him for the fight ahead.  He wasn’t bothered by fighting his girlfriend from a relationship-damaging point of view.  No, he was worried about it because his girlfriend was a) crazy brilliant, b) crazy fast, and c) crazy unpredictable.  It made it very hard to figure out what Sora was going to do next under normal circumstances, let alone in a fight.
“And now, it’s another Class 1-A showdown!” Present Mic announced. “Toshinori Midoriya and Sora Iida!  One a master of gravity, the other an aerial ace!  Will this battle be won in the skies or down on the ground?  Only one way to find out!”
“Just tell me someone has All Might accounted for.”
That was a bit unfair, Toshi thought.  Grandpa Might hadn’t tried spying on him a few weeks now.  That he knew of, anyway.
Hawkeye looked back and forth between him and Sora.  “Remember the flight ceiling rule,” she told both of them.  “We’ve got cameras and range-finders set up to catch anything. Other than that…  FIGHT!”
“My apologies, Toshi, but this victory will be mine!”  Sora shouted, before launching herself at him like a missile, the Jetpack pipes on her back firing.
Toshi knew he only had a couple of seconds to act and brought his own gravity down to almost nothing, leaping over Sora just before she impacted with him. “Don’t be so sure about that!” he said, as he turned in midair, landing facing the other direction, as she executed a tight turn to keep herself from going out of the ring.
Sora came at him again. He couldn’t help to match her speed flat out, but so long as he acted in time, he could keep out of her reach. Each time he forced her to turn around, he gained a few precious seconds to think and formulate his own strategy.   He leapt over her again, steadying himself for the next go round.
She was racing for him again, her Jetpack still firing strong.  Toshi wasn’t sure what Sora’s limits were, didn’t know how long she could keep this up.  But he’d seen her fly for long stretches before during training and they hadn’t even hit that amount of time yet.  It made just outlasting her a dicey proposition at best and foolish at worst.
This time, when he jumped, he twisted in mid-air again, not to adjust his landing, but to give him a chance to grab her.  His hand snapped out, grabbing her ankle.  Of course, he was still near-weightless at the time, so he was dragged along as she kept flying.
“Be careful,” Sora said, executing a tighter turn than before.  “I would hate to see you go flying!”
Instead of a straight path, she jerked back and forth, zigzagging to try and dislodge him.  Toshi had to close his eyes to keep from throwing up. He didn’t have Mom’s problems with nausea, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t just flat out get motion sickness.
Concentrating, he increased his gravity to three times its normal amount, his feet making cracks in the ground as they impacted with it.  Still holding on to Sora, he fought against her pull as she increased the power to her Jetpack, to the point where he had to increase his gravity more and dig in his heels… and even then, he was slowly starting to be dragged across the ring, digging great gouges in the concrete!
So he did the only logical thing.   He let go.
Sora shot forward like a rocket, no longer impeded by his increased gravity.  At the last second before she would have gone out of the ring, tilted sharply upward, flying up into the air, before circling around to come at him again.   This time, Toshi tried to meet her head on.  He brought his gravity back down to nearly nothing, took several steps back, and then, with a running start, jumped into the air.  Unaffected by gravity’s pull, it was like being fired out of a canon. Seconds before impacted with Sora, he increased his gravity, turning himself into a human canon ball.
POW!
He slammed into his girlfriend with considerable force, causing her to cry out, nearly knocking him from the air.  Toshi bounced off, falling back to the ground, and springing back up again. This time, she was faster, striking him hard enough to make him fall.  He recovered in time to bounce back up again, this time hitting Sora hard enough to make her fall.  As he drifted back to the ground, she righted herself, flying back at him and clipping him with her right wing as she went by.
And so it went, blow after blow, each of them nearly falling flat but recovering to strike at the other. But on his last bounce, rather than trying to strike her, Toshi grabbed on, heavily increasing his gravity.
Entangled with Toshi, her Jetpack flared, trying to support both their weights, then faltered, sending them both falling towards the ground.  “I am really sorry about this, okay?” he said.  “But we said no regrets!”   Perhaps just a bit reluctantly, he let Sora go and decreased his own gravity again, floating down.
Sora stopped herself though, her Jetpack Quirk firing in one quick burst before she hit the ground. She landed awkwardly, but was on her feet quickly, ready by the time Toshi’s feet hit the ground.
“That,” she said, “could have hurt!  But I am willing to forgive you!”  Still on foot, she raced towards him and then activated her Quirk.
He wasn’t expecting it. Sora’s Quirk was primarily flight-based; he hadn’t even thought of her activating it on the ground.  But with it accelerating her body and his own gravity at normal, it added enough power to his punch to snap his head around and have him seeing stars.
Again and again, Sora struck him, punches given extra rocket-propulsion by her Quirk.  If she wasn’t using it to punch the stuffing out of him, he’d have been impressed by her ingenuity.  He just needed to get his head on straight for a second, so he could use his.
And…there.  Sora’s punches were slowing down; she must have been overheating her Jetpack after that much use.  It gave Toshi the moment he needed, amplifying his gravity several times over. Sora’s next blow struck home, but bolstered by his enhanced gravity, he barely felt it.  Surprise rose on her face and she pulled her hand back, clutching her knuckles with her other hand.
There.  This was his moment. Toshi struck out with a right handed blow, a Smash-worthy punch that would have done Grandpa Might proud.  He hit Sora dead on, spinning her around like a top, until she fell to the ground unconscious.
…He really hoped she’d been serious about the “no regrets” thing.
“Iida is unable to continue!” Hawkeye announced.  “Midoriya wins!”
“Talk about your high-speed fights!” Present Mic cheered. “I hope they got that on the slow-motion replay, because that was a rush!”
“At least this one isn’t breaking any bones.”
***
“Absolutely not,” Mother said.  Worry marred her features, and Izumi could see that she had been crying.  “You nearly collapsed during the Obstacle Course, had to be helped off the Quirkball field, and then you did collapse fighting Katsumi.  We can’t allow you to keep up this kind of pace.”
Izumi frowned, uncertain of how to respond, the silence broken only by the slight deep of the monitoring machines Doctor Izumi had hooked her up to. It was true, she had pushed herself to her limits during the Festival so far, perhaps even a bit beyond them.  But was the school motto not “Plus Ultra”?  Still, it had felt good, giving her all, using her abilities to their fullest, even as her body had ached and she had felt exhaustion working its way into her every cell.  So much heat had passed through her body; if not for her regulator rig, she very likely would have burned up, maybe even taken someone with her.  But she had pushed through it and fought.  And won.  Against Katsumi, one of the fiercest fighters in their class.
Her cheek still stung where Katsumi had punched her and she imagined she had a rather nasty bruise forming, perhaps even a black eye.  That, in and of itself, was a victory.  She dearly loved her friend, but she could not have allowed Katsumi to simply throw her chance away like that.  It would have eaten away at her, little by little, poisoning her mind.  Nor, she realized, could she have thrived under such conditions herself.  Katsumi cared for her, protected her, but now understood that she could stand on her own as well.  She only wished she had realized earlier just how deeply her friend’s feelings towards her went.  Even with Katsumi’s confession and their conversation, it had obviously not been as settled as she thought.
“I shall manage, Mother,” she said.  “There is time enough to rest before my next match.”
“Is that really what you want, Izumi?” Father asked. He did not wear his emotions on his sleeve like Mother did, but for someone as familiar with him as she was, they were quite clear.  He was worried about her too, both her physical health and her mental health. The scars, both figurative and literal, of his own upbringing ran deep.  He worried constantly about her limits and pushing her too hard; they had her grandfather to blame for that. “You don’t have to prove anything.  Not to us, not to anyone.”
“Except to myself,” she said.  “I may or may not have the strength to continue the Tournament, but I will not know unless I try.”
“I’m not letting you endanger your health for some point of pride,” Mother said, firmly.  “There’ll be other chances, next year, or…”
“No!” Izumi snapped. “I want to do this.  I need to do this!  I have to know if I can!”
“You’ve got to think about your future, about your health!  You’re just like your father, full of stubborn pride!”
Mother was acting just like Katsumi.  Trying to protect her, look out for her.  But she had left the nest.  She was her to learn to be her best.  And she could not do that if everywhere kept treating her like she would break if left to her own devices or allowed to actually push herself the way others were.
“I am thinking about my future!  How do you think anyone will look upon a future Hero who had to withdraw because she was ‘tired’?”
“Izumi!” Mother snapped, ready to unleash another tirade.
“I think we should let her,” Father said, before either of them could bombard the other with another argument.
Mother shot him an angry glare.  “Shoto, how can you even suggest she…”
Father shook his head. “Were you listening, Momo?  To what she told Katsumi?”
Mother crossed her arms. “Of course I did!  She stood up for herself!  Told Katsumi to take her seriously and not shelter her!  And…”
Her mother trailed off for a moment, then her eyes went wide and she pressed a hand to her mouth.  “And I’m doing the same thing… aren’t I?”
Father crossed the room and put Mother’s shoulders.  “You are. You always have.  I’m guilty of it too.  We both know why.  I understand it.  But we have to let her be try.  You and I both know about too many regrets and what if’s.”
There was something more being unsaid here, Izumi thought.  Something she wasn’t being told.  But she could pursue that line of questioning another day.  For now, her heart beat rapidly in her chest; the possibility that she might actually get to continue was so very close.
Mother frowned.  “I…  You’re right. Of course, you are.  I worry…”   She looked at Izumi again.  “We both worry about you, Izumi.  Always. After how we nearly lost you…  It nearly killed me to see you fighting like that out there.”
Perhaps this wasn’t going her way after all.
“But,” Mother went on, “I suppose I am just going to have to get used to it.  I’ll worry no less when you become a Hero yourself.”
Her parents separated, each taking up a spot on either side of her bed.  “I can’t promise I won’t be a nervous wreck,” Mother said, “but you have my permission to keep fighting.”
“Mine too,” Father said. And then he smiled.  “We’re proud of you, you know.   And I can lord your victory over Bakugo for weeks.”
***
“And now we come to the last fight of the first round!  Asuka Tokoyami versus Kana Tetsutetsu!  The familiar fighter against the steel-fisted striker!  Can Tokoyami’s Frog-Shadow pierce Tetsutetsu’s guard, or will Tetsutetsu’s Iron Fist triumph over the floating, fighting frog?  Let’s find out!”
“Hn.  At least I can count on these two to be sensible in their fight.”
“Are you ready?” Asuka said out loud.
Let me at her, Boss!  I’ll go full amphibian on her!
Frog-Shadow, it seemed, was as excitable as always.  But her other half had demonstrated remarkable synchronicity with her during the other two events, so Asuka was actually confident that Frog-Shadow would fall in line as best she could for this fight.
Her opponent was no joke. Kana Tetsutetsu was a good friend of both Kirishima-Bakugo and Toshi, as well as Mineta and Koda, so she was hardly a stranger to Class 1-A.  Asuka herself had been getting to know her during Student Council meetings.  And while her Quirk of transforming her arms into metal was a relatively simple one, she backed it up with martial skill that more than made up for the simplicity of her Quirk.
“Ready?” Hawkeye asked, and when they both nodded, the teacher took a step back, out of the ring. “Fight!”
Tetsutetsu gave her a small bow.  “May the best woman win,” she said.
Asuka returned the bow in kind.  “May the best woman win,” she agreed.
And thus the fight began. “Frog-Shadow… go!” Asuka shouted, summoning her familiar.  Frog-Shadow erupted from her midsection, a glowing-green frog-shaped figure of light even in the afternoon sun.
“Face my wrath!” Frog-Shadow shouted, flying towards Tetsutetsu like a spear.
Tetsutetsu wasn’t backing down though, instead, she converted both her arms to shining metal and brought them up in an X in front of her face.  Her “Ultimate Guard” technique, Asuka believed it was called.   Frog-Shadow impacted with a shower of green sparks, but bounced off, looping back around.
But Tetsutestsu didn’t waste any time waiting for Frog-Shadow’s next attack, racing forward. She crossed the distance between the two of them with remarkable speed, putting Asuka immediately on the defensive as she dodged blows from her steely fists.  She had to protect her head.  It was a large enough target and one blow from one of Tetsutetsu’s metal fists was probably all it would take to knock her down.
“Frog-Shadow, to me!” Quickly, the recalled Frog-Shadow and the world went green.
“Oh, you done it now,” Frog-Shadow said, settling over her like a suit of armor.  “We’re breaking out the combo-moves!”
Tetsutetsu just laughed. “Good!  I like a challenge!”  She took a step back and launched a kick towards them, connecting hard. Frog-Shadow’s armor held, but there was still surprising force behind the blow.
“Off!”
“Off!”
The blow knocked Asuka back, even with Frog-Shadow protecting her.   Curse her for a fool, she’d been so focused on Tetsutetsu’s Quirk that she hadn’t been thinking she would fight with anything else.  It was not a mistake she’d be making again.
Tetsutetsu struck out again, this time with a metal arm.  But Asuka got her guard up, blocking it with her left arm and delivering her own Frog-Shadow enhanced blow with her right.  She struck Tetsutetsu hard in the solar plexus, knocking the wind out of her and buying a few seconds of space and time.
Asuka pressed her attack, sending Frog-Shadow out again to attack.  Her familiar shot out, her “tether” wrapping around Tetsutetsu several times, finally ending up behind her, pinning her arms to her side.
“Ha!  We’ve got you now!” Frog-Shadow taunted.
Tetsutetsu simply grinned. “Maybe.”   Her arms suddenly shifted back to flesh, shrinking just enough that Frog-Shadow was not so tightly wrapped around her.  “Maybe not!”
Both of her arms shot up, slamming into Frog-Shadow’s face.  The light-being let out a cry of pain and retreated, snapping back to Asuka. She winced too, gritting her teeth. Frog-Shadow’s pain wasn’t exactly her pain… but the two of them were still deeply linked.
“She tricked me!  She tricked me!  No fair!”
“Quit complaining and fight!” Asuka shouted.
Frog-Shadow shot out again and again, each time blocked by Tetutetsu’s guard.  Neither of them was gaining much around and the reverse held true when Tetsutetsu found space to press her attack.  Asuka would recall Frog-Shadow like armor, blocking until she could strike and drive her back.  Their Quirks were very, very different, but provided both of them with enough attack and defense that neither could find space past the other.
This continued for several minutes and even though most of the blows had not impacted upon her directly, Asuka was beginning to tire.  But so, it seemed, was Tetsutetsu.  She’d taken several steps back in an attempt to buy herself a few moments.
“We gonna go for this, Boss?” Frog-Shadow asked.
Despite something telling her there was more to this than met the eye, Asuka knew they couldn’t endure many more assaults.  If this was to be ended, it had to be now.  “Do it,” she breathed.
“FROGGY….PUNCH!” Frog-Shadow shot out again, hands raised and ready to rain down blows on Tetsutetsu.
Tetsutetsu brought her metal hands up…  just right to catch the sun.  Light reflected off them like a mirror, right into Frog-Shadow’s eyes.   “What the heck?!”  Frog-Shadow cried out, trying to shield her eyes.
Asuka tried to recall her, but before she could, Tetsutetsu’s arm snapped out, grabbing the tether that connected her to Frog-Shadow.  She gave a powerful yank and Asuka found herself lifted off her feet, flying towards Tetsutetsu.  The last thing she remembered seeing before all she could see were stars was a metal fist heading towards her face.
“Tokoyami is unable to continue!” she head Hawkeye shout.  “Tetsutetsu wins!”
“Now that’s what I call a knock-out fight!   That finishes up the first seed of the Tournament, folks!   We’ll be back for the second seed in just a moment, with more hot U.A. action!”
“Is that enough time for a coffee, Mic?”
“Sure it…  Ooooh no, you’re not escaping that easy, Eraser!”
Whumptober Day 18 - Hostage
Fandom - Uncharted
Whumpee - Nathan Drake
A/N - Hey! So I am going to slap a warning on this one and tell you now, there is a child in danger in this one, but no harms comes to them. The child pretty much only served to motivate two different characters actions. With that said, enjoy!
(If you’d like to tip me some coffee (I had two while writing this) find me on Ko-Fi. If you’d like to follow my writing blog, find it at @imagine-tay-tion
The gun pressing into the back of his head was unfortunate. A lot of events and all of them led to this one unfortunate moment.
The moment Elena had seen the number of cars parked outside the bank, she had turned to Nate and pleaded, practically begged, for him to come in with her. To keep her company, she had told him, and while the office portion of the job wasn’t necessarily his favorite part, he had nothing against spending extra time with his wife.
So he had grabbed Cassie from her car seat, the infant babbling happily in the back of the car, and Elena had grabbed the money envelope, and together the family walked inside. Cassie still wasn’t properly able to hold her head up, so Nate cradled the baby in his left arm while pulling Elena in close with his right, realizing just how right the world was right now.
He forgot that acknowledging it, made it one hundred percent certain that the world would stop being perfect.
They had made it about halfway through the line of stay at home parents and business folk. Nate played with the baby, Cassie gurgling contentedly in his arms. Elena watched fondly as she did some sort of work on her phone.
Then the first round of shots were fired into the ceiling. It was immediate chaos and pandemonium, as Nate clutched the baby close to his chest, enveloping her as she began to grow agitated in his arms. He searched the area and could see four men at the entrance of the bank, all dressed in black.
Another round of bullets and ceiling plaster fell from above him in sprinkles, and Nate could feel his heart racing in his chest. He looked to Elena who looked just as panicked as he felt. They didn’t expect this. It just wasnt supposed to happen to them while they were at home. Not with their baby.
Nate realized that everybody was being forced to lay on the ground, on their fronts, and he knew his child can’t do that. His mind raced for a moment as he tried to come up with something before Elena put her hands out, wanting Cassie. He handed the whimpering child over to Elena, she pulled the child close to her chest, and then, “We’ll lay her down on your jacket!” She shouted, over the noises that everyone else in the room made.
He did as he was told and took his jacket off while Elena got down on her knees. He laid the jacket out under her, and she lied down gingerly. Once she was on her front, she placed Cassie in the crook of her armpit, shielding the child from anyone or anything that could do her wrong. Nate dropped to his stomach as well, as close to Elena's (and Cassie’s) side as possible.
Nate’s relatively surprised with how calm Cassie had been up until that moment, but the quieter the room became, the louder she became. The men at this point, were running around the room, collecting valuables - watches, purses, wallets, and money from the tellers- whatever they saw fit. When they stopped at the family, Cassie was screaming her displeasure.
The man cocked his head at the baby and the noises she'd made before yelling at Elena, “Shut that baby up.”
“Listen, man, it's a baby, they don’t just shut up.” Nate scowled, staring disapprovingly at the gun that was dangling in the man's grip.
“What's that hotshot?” The robber yelled as the other three disappeared from Nate’s view. Elena hits Nate as she began to whisper to Cassie, trying to calm her down.
“Just leave her alone,” Nate pleaded, pulling the money envelope from the floor beside him, “Here, take this.”
Nate held his breath as the man took the envelope and threw it into his bag. He began to walk away before he stopped, and then smashed the butt of the gun into the back of Nate’s head, sending his head smashing into the ground. The room as a whole seemed to gasp, as pain shot through his skull. Nate rested his head on the ground, as the man stood over him. “I don’t want anymore heroes, or else this guy pays for everything you do, you understand?”
Nate closed his eyes to ease the pain. He could feel Elena rubbing his side comfortingly and he could hear Cassie’s cries growing more distant as he felt himself passing out -
A violent shake pulled him from his reverie as he was pulled harshly to his feet, a hand under his shoulder yanked him up. “Rise and shine asshole, someone decided to call the police, and now you get to deal with us!”
It took Nate a moment and some squeezing of his eyelids as he struggled to get his feet under him, for him to realize it was one of the men clad in black helping him up. Nate felt nauseous as he looked down at his feet and saw the drops of blood where his head had just been.
He glanced at Elena, who had tears silently streaming down her face as she clutched Cassie tightly to her chest. His daughter, finally quiet in her mother's arms. “What's the matter, fellas? The only time I get in trouble for sleeping is when I’m with another man's woman-” he was surprised they had let him talk that long. So he continued, knowing talking is really the only thing he could do. “-and last I checked, that's my wife.”
A heartbeat passed between the moments before something hard connected with his side, sending him stumbling to his knees as his already weak legs collapsed under him. The new pain not doing anything to quell his already upset stomach.
He figured it was wise to not speak again, so he didn’t as another set of hands grabbed his other shoulder, and two men dragged him forward, towards the front of the bank. He could hear Elena yelling from behind him, and Nate knew she felt conflicted, between her husband and her baby, so Nate decided for her. He struggled to turn for just a fraction of a second, to see his wife for what he feared may be the last time. “I’m ok!” he shouted to her before a third man shoves the butt of his gun into Nates temple.
His head fell against his chest as he was dragged to the front doors, which were thrown open by the fourth man, and the group stoped on the top step of the entrance way. The sounds of sirens assaulted Nate’s head, and he clenched his eyes shut, trying to quell the pounding in his head. “If you let us go, we won’t kill him!”
It was the man to his left that talked, shouting at the copious amounts of police ahead of them. Nate spared a glance upwards as the backs of his knees are kicked out, forcing Nate to his knees. He took a deep breath, as a hand grabbed his shoulder to prevent him from falling over. Glancing up, Nate tried his best to calm his worry, knowing that it very well could be his final moments.
“We can’t just let you walk out of there, mister, now why don’t you let us take that man, and get him some help, as a sign of good faith?” Nates head dropped again, as he realized that everything in front of him only served to make him dizzier. A gun was pressed into the back of his head, and Nate smirked at the irony of it all.
This was how ‘Nate the Great’ would meet his demise, at the hands of some of the dumbest criminals he's ever had to deal with. Everything about this was suddenly humorous to him, as a laugh escaped his lips. He tried to stop himself, but after a moment, the laugh turned into a sob. “Sorry-” he choked out between gasps, “I think I have a concussion,” another gasp, “I have no control over what I’m doing right now.”
“What-” Nate realized that he didn’t have a choice.
He sent an elbow into the hand holding the gun to his head, sending the gun pointing upwards as it went off. In the next instant, he fell to his side and swept his legs out at the offenders. He caught one of them and he thought maybe a second, before a plethora of gunshots go off.
He felt a sharp pain in his abdomen before a shoe managed to connect with his already delicate head, and in the next instant, everything went dark.
Izuku x Shy Reader! The reader is one of the many people rooting for Izuku while watching the sports festival. After seeing him in the sports festival he inspired her to work harder to become a hero and even stole her heart. When she runs into the boy she was cheering on, while hanging out at the beach with her friends, she wants to tell him so many things but can’t say them. So she sticks with staring at him with heart eyes until her friends decide to give her a shove in the right direction.
omg this was so cute I could not resist!!!!! I love this so much omg. Also, the reader’ and their quirk is s personalityhighkey based off an oc of mine so I’m doing a lil self-indulgence here lmao. Also I lowkey want to make a part 2 to this
Tumblr media
Ever since that day, you pledged to work harder. What day would that be? The sports festival of course! When you saw his bright green hues full of hope and determination and kindness all at the same time while fighting his opponents, you found a new motivation.
You had always wanted to be a hero, even before your quirk appeared! And when it did you were ecstatic. However, your mother wasn’t so much. Your father had left you and your family to pursue his hero career, only to die in a terrible accident at the height of his career.
Since then, your mother had hated heroes. She knew that they did good, but at the same time, she would not interact with them at all. And she would not let you interact with them.
It was a bit of a sad childhood, but your hopes of being a hero continued to grow exponentially throughout the years. When your younger sister and brothers were born, you vowed to protect them no matter what.
So you trained behind your mother’s back. For years you would go to the gym and train every day. And when the time came for the UA entrance exam, you told her the truth. When you left that day, she as fuming.
By the time you came back, she had packed your bags and put them on the porch outside the house.
You were lucky enough to find an old lady who let you take the smallest apartment in the building she owned in exchange for your work. So when your UA acceptance letter came in, you knew that doing all of that work behind your mother’s back and leaving your family was the right choice, even if it hurt.
But after being in class 1B for a couple months, you couldn’t help but see everyone as if they were on a whole other level. Even though you trained so hard and trained just as much as everyone else, you couldn’t improve.
You began to lose hope. You began to lose confidence. You were even thinking about dropping out after the sports festival. But after seeing his fights, you knew that you had to keep fighting.
He gave you the inspiration and motivation to keep going ahead with your dreams. He reignited the fire in your heart and you would be forever thankful for that.
But the more you trained, the more you thought of him, the more you saw him in the halls or even on the damn news, the more you fell head over heels for him even though you had never talked to him.
So when the UA summer camp was attacked, instead of running away, you chose to fight with Midoriya Izuku on your mind. At the time you were with Tetsu and Kendou. When they chose to go after the source of the gas, you followed the fires.
It was possibly the worst thing you could’ve done.
You got burned that day. Badly. Your shoulder sustained 3rd-degree burns and would be permanently scarred and a portion of your hair was burned.
But a the same time… you didn’t regret doing it. You were able to get two unconscious girls out of the way of danger, scooping them up with your hair. Afterall, your quirk gave you the ability to control your hair, so you might as well use it to protect those around you.
You were let out of the hospital the morning after, your friends from 1B waiting for you. To see their happy and healthy faces made you happy. And you realized just how great it was to be a hero.
——-
“Are you ready for today’s training (Y/N)-chan?” Kendou asked, tying her mask with precise expertise.
You nodded quietly, pulling your costume over your form. A simple black bodysuit and a headpiece that supported your neck and head. It was simple and pretty much unimpressive.
You couldn’t help the sigh that left you as you looked at your figure in the mirror of the locker room.
“What’s wrong (Y/N)-san?” Ibara asked.
You shook your head. “Nothing…I just think I should redo my costume soon. It’s too…bland.”
“Now don’t say that!” Pony exclaimed, jumping on your back. “I think it fits you really well! It’s simple but also very cool! In America, people would say it’s on fleek.” Pony explained with a wink.
You couldn’t help the giggle that left your lips. “Maybe you’re right Pony.”
The girls left the locker room soon after that, the group of 8 making their way to gym gamma. Kendo glanced at your left shoulder, which was bare due to the arms of your costume being temporarily modified for your burn. Although it was completely healed and only the scar was left, you liked having your arms exposed. It gave you a bit more of a unique look and not a Black Widow from Avengers look.
“How’s your scar?” Kendou asked.
“It’s okay.” You said, your voice dropping. “At first I was self-conscious about it, but now I see it as a reminder of my journey to be a hero…so I don’t mind it being on display.” You gave Kendou a wide smile, which she returned.
As you walked into Gym Gamma with the rest of class 1B, you were more than surprised to see class 1A. Your eyes scanned the group of 20 students.”
“Looking for your little crush?” Pony teased, pulling you out of your thoughts.
Your cheeks turned a bright pink as you whirled around to face her. Behind her were Yui and Setsuna, their smirks as apparent as Pony’s sparkly eyes. “W-what?! I don’t know what you’re talking about!” You exclaimed.
Sestuna smirked at you, her eyes full of mischief. “As if! You’ve been obsessed with the Mi-”
“Tokage do I need to put you on house arrest?” Vlad king suddenly said in his loud and booming voice that made you jump, even though his threat was aimed at Sestuna and not at you.
“Sorry Sensei.” The green haired girl said, rubbing the back of her head nervously.
You listened to Aizawa explained the exercise to the classes, how we would be fighting one on one with another person from the other class. You couldn’t help the anxiety coursing through your veins as the first pair went through.
“Class 1A is so experienced and good! How can I even put up a fight against any of them?” You thought as Pony and Tokoyami fought. Pony put up a really good fight but in the end, Tokoyami was a bit too strong.
The class continued like this, the heroes in training fighting against each other. Some 1B students even won their battles! but the amount of 1A students winning theirs made you worry.
Sooner than you would’ve liked, all your classmates had already gone leaving only you and the monster of class 1A. Bakugou Katsuki.
“You got this!” Kendou cheered, giving you a pat on your back. You smiled back at her before turning and starting for the arena. However, you were stopped as a foot came down to your trailing hair.
You yelped in pain and looked back. Monoma was the one standing on a chunk of your hair, but he was looking away from you. “Go kick his butt for me.” He said nonchalantly. You smiled and nodded, knowing that this was his way of showing how much he was supporting you. “And learn to pick up your hair for Christ’s sake.” He ordered, stepping off your locks.
Your cheeks turned a bright red in embarrassment but used your quirk to bring your hair up to your shoulders. Your hair was longer than anyone could ever imagine and looked like a huge obstacle in hero work, but it was necessary for your quirk. Afterall, with your quirk, you could control your hair like it was a separate limb, but you couldn’t grow it at will. So it only reached out as long as your hair was- 10 feet and counting.
You stood on the opposite end of the fighting arena, your hair at rest. The second Aizawa yelled out “go”, you charged forward, aiming to grab Bakugou’s legs and swing him out of bounds.
However, he was faster and stronger due to his explosion quirk. He got to you quicker than you expected and sent you flying across the stage with a well-placed explosion to your stomach, but he didn’t knock you out.
Taking a stand from where you stood, you let your hair launch forward, two large chunks striking around him like whips while another two strands attempted to grab at his ankles.
But he was just too good.
Using his explosions he warded off your attacks before launching forward, aiming for your left side, where the chunk of hair in front was still recovering from the burning it took that summer.
He knew it was your weak spot and he was going after it.
Fear overtook you and as your fight or flight response kicked in, you made your choice.
You fled into yourself.
Retracting your hair, you made a shield around yourself before using small bits of your hair and having them stick out of the small ball you made around you so ward off Bakugou.
You flinched as you felt explosions rock through your body over and over again. If you didn’t think of a plan quickly, you’d lose. You couldn’t do that. No, you didn’t want to, especially with both classes watching.
Especially with…
Midoriya watching.
In a single second, you unraveled your barrier, letting your hair swirl around like a crazy hurricane. You internally cheered as a chunk wrapped around Bakugou’s torso. Running past him, you turned and started to throw him out of bounds, only to have him dig his feet into the ground and use the momentum to through you out of bounds.
You groaned as you tumbled across the concrete. Tears threatened to spill from your eyes. The fight didn’t even last 5 minutes.
You gripped at the loose dirt that sat overtop the concrete in an effort to keep your emotions under control.
“Hey, do you need some help getting up?” A gentle voice asked.
You swore your heart stopped. You knew that voice. I mean, how could you forget? Looking up, you were eye to eye with Midoriya Izuku. His hand was outstretched to you.
You nodded slowly and took his hand, letting him practically pull you up himself.
“That was a really good fight you know,” Midoriya said, letting go of your hand.
“What?” You asked, tilting your head to the side. “I didn’t even last 5 minutes and my attack just got turned against me. It was a terrible fight.” You shook your head.
“Thanks for trying to make me feel bet-”
“I’m not lying. It was really good! Your quirk is really unique and has so many possible uses!” Midoriya exclaimed, motioning to your (h/c) locks.
You looked between your hair and Midoriya in shock. “Really?”
“Ye-”
“Midoriya please hold off on the geeking out until after class.” Aizawa cut off.
You turned, suddenly remembering that a whole two classes were still in here with you and Midoriya. “Ah! I’m sorry Aizawa-sensei!” As you turned to go back to your own class, a hand clamped down on your wrist.
Looking back your (e/c) met with Midoriya’s green hues. “Can we meet up after class? I’d love to get to know more about your quirk and fighting style.”
You couldn’t help the rosy pink that coated your cheeks at his statement. He wanted to get to know you? Boring old you? You nodded quickly.
“That sounds really nice.”
I have a late 2009 model where I upgraded to a ssd and increased the RAM on my own but it's still failing. I was holding out for a new mbp since I need it for a CS class in school but the newest models are just so expensive that I'm tempted to just drop the class instead lol. I've been looking for a 2015 model but they are hard to find and very expensive. That was a Green Iprovement. A Card that can only be played by Green Heroes. As soon as it got reworked, Mono Blue control became top of the metagame and Green as a color disappeared. Win 40% of cali, get 40% of their elecotral college votes. Win 80% of texas, 80% of their votes. The minority political party maters again to eek out votes in "safe" states. 14 points submitted 5 days agoI honestly still expected him to win, this past month was a shit show for him though. I think the second he was on people lips for the false police report, people started telling all their stories of him being a creep.He was really desperate towards the end, misleading people about endorsements (especially Will Guzzardi), he openly accused La Spata team of defacing his election signs on Twitter yesterday, and there were lots of complaints of his people electioneering past the set boundaries.The fact that Moreno raised over $653,000 compared to La Spata $74,000 and still got his butt kicked is so amazing.I live a block away from Daniel, and my goodness did I have someone knocking on my door every other day. He was really motivated and slayed Goliath. With each episode, I just love Soo Im more and more. She doesn shy away from what she truly believes in and carries herself with so much class. For this reason, it so easy to root for her as a viewer. Daria morgendorffer. She a little bitch to everyone all series constantly whining about how everyone is a moron and she the only one in school with any brains and also about how she this big out cast. The thing is she made a lot of her own problems with her shitty attitude. Well, this is 영동출장샵 simplified. First of all, you only get citizenship through ius soli when your parents have lived here legally for at least eight years. As a rule of thumb, children born here get german citizenship if their parents would be technically eligible for citizenship (ignoring shortcuts etc.). Right, I get it isn't safe for you to be out in your current environment. Work up to getting out of there ASAP and some therapy. You're not going to hell for being gay lovely, that I can guarantee you. Skin problems can be caused by everything from viruses to heat. Warts are caused by human papillomavirus, or HPV, and more than 100 different strains of the virus exist [source: CDC]. Other examples of skin issues include athlete's foot, which is caused by fungal infections, and heat rash, which blocks off openings for sweat trapping it under the skin's surface.. I got ganked, left behind, and had to try and run back from the HP. I was there around 30 or 40 minutes mostly just walking with no definite purpose 영동출장샵 in mind. I learned nothing of value other than, unlike PvE, you don randomly join a commanders squad. In the future, these questions will likely be posed for cities that exist on the moon or Mars. Urban planning in such situations will have the added challenge of dealing with microgravity, extreme temperatures, radiation and other environmental issues. You might think that such a city is unrealistic, but NASA has been planning a "city in the sky" for years.
Well time has a way of throwing it all in your face The past, she is haunted, the future is laced Heartbreak, you know, drives a big black car Swear I was in the back seat, just minding my own
-Gregory Alan Isakov, "Big Black Car"
Now.
“The Bat Signal is not a toy, Ms. Brown.”
Startled, Stephanie swerved around at the sudden emergence of a man swathed in black from the shadows, cloak whipping wordlessly in the wind.  She hadn’t even heard him arrive on the rooftop.
How does he do that?
“You know my name?”
She asked, flustered.
“I make it my business to know.  You’re Stephanie Brown, daughter of Crystal and Arthur Brown, a.k.a. Cluemaster. …Tim Drake’s girlfriend.”
Stephanie blinked, sighing before lowering her mantle and removing the guise’s (apparently ineffectual) inner layer, letting luminescent locks fall free around her shoulders.  (Reasoning that if the cops hadn’t come up to bust her by now, then it seemed rather unlikely they’d show up anytime soon.)  …Wish I knew what the heck to do with my hair under this thing, she thought idly as she combed her hand through the tangles.  Maybe I should try putting it in a ponytail or something.
“Then you probably know why I called you here then.  Sorry about the theatrics,” she gestured towards the spotlight, “But I figured this was the fastest way to get your attention.”
“Tim told you about our history together.”
“Some of it.  He wouldn’t tell me why you two split up.”
There was a palpable beat.
“If he didn’t see fit to explain, then it’s not my place to intervene.”
“Please, Mr. Wayne.”  Those crescent slits narrowed at equally intimate address.  “I think I deserve to know at this point.”
“This isn’t any of your business, Ms. Brown.  I suggest you go home, and get rid of that silly costume.”
Like yours is any less ridiculous.
“This isn’t a game.  Quit before you get yourself into trouble.”
Holy déjà vu.
She crossed her arms frankly, standing firm.
“Tim said the same thing.  I’m getting real sick and tired of hearing it.”
“He’s right.  The streets are far too risky, especially for someone like you.”  There was a rough rigor to his tenor; like a razor blade scraping severely against the grain, incisive and insistent.  Deliberately rubbing salt and steel into the wound until it irritated. “I’ve seen how you operate: rash, reckless, impulsive, impetuous – not thinking before you act.  You might believe you’re being brave – that you’re endeavoring to prove something by jumping directly into danger, putting yourself in the constant thick of threats – but you’re just behaving brashly like a child. A person of your kind doesn’t belong in this field.”
Stephanie bristled at the blunt onslaught, blue irises burning boldly defiant.
“You don’t understand: My dad was supposed to be dead, and now he shows back up again in Gotham like nothing happened – except now he’s committing crimes without even leaving clues.  I couldn’t just stand aside and let him get away with it.  I had to do something.  After all, I’ve got a stake in this.”
Batman made a smothered sound, like a pained grunt – as if someone had just punched him in the gut.
“You sound just like he did.  All you stupid kids, don’t know what you’re getting into.”
“I know that without me you wouldn’t have been able to figure out the next place my father was planning to hit.”
Admit it, that “chopping mall” clue was a stroke of genius.
“And your assistance in bringing him down during the heist is appreciated. But this ends tonight.  You should leave the crimefighting to trained professionals.”
“I just wanted to help…”
Batman took a step forward, looming ominously over her.  His voice was dangerous.
“You don’t know what you want.  None of you ever did.”
Despite the fierce menace in his tone, she staunchly stood her ground, eyes stubborn and challenging as she declined to back down.  Her opponent carried on lecturing:
“You’ve accomplished your mission; succeeded in putting your father in jail.  Now that you’ve gotten your revenge, there’s no more reason for you to continue this fight anymore.  I suppose you’re just doing this now for fun, for the thrill.  Because you think it’s ‘cool’.”
Stephanie clenched her fists.  He had struck a chord, but she didn’t take kindly to being patronized either, her entire motivations being put down, brushed aside just like that.
“That’s not the only reason.  I mean, yeah this just kinda started out as a goof to get back at my dad of course, and sure I’ll confess I do get a kick out of the rush – but there’s more to it than that. I may not be all that smart or skilled at… anything really.  But this – this is something I can do to help others.  People in need.  For the first time in my life, it feels like I’m really doing something worthwhile, that I’m doing some good.  Like I’m making a real difference.  I’m doing this… I don’t know.  Not even for me.”  She turned towards the skyline, surveying over the (for the moment at least) peacefully sleeping city, lights reflecting above and below.  “I’m doing this for all of them.”
Batman stared at her.
“Regardless, this isn’t your responsibility.”
“And it’s supposed to be solely yours?  You’re just one man in a batsuit, you’re not in charge of this town.  You may be able to handle all the crimes within the city limits, but the suburbs don’t have anyone.  Not even you can be everywhere at once. Hell, no one can carry the weight of the world by himself.”
“This is a vow I took on my own shoulder’s, no one else’s.  I work alone.”
“If you really thought that, why’d you agree to take an apprentice on in the first place?”
While visibly there was no noticeable wince, another wounded growl escaped from the cowl.
“That was a mistake.”
“Oh really?  I’ve seen how you operate: Ever since you’ve gone partnerless, you’ve been colder, harsher, overly aggressive, and more unforgiving than ever before.  Everyone’s noticed; it’s been all over news reports everywhere, criminals claiming to be the ‘victims’ of vigilante violence. All the tabloids assume you’ve gone off the deep end, that you’ve finally cracked – or that you were off your rocker all along.  That’s why they say even the police won’t cooperate with you anymore.”  She looked towards the tarp lying on the ground, which had been covering the searchlight up to now.  Lucky for her they hadn’t removed the apparatus entirely.  “You accuse me of being hotheaded, but I could say the exact same of you.  Heck, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you seem to have some sort of death wish.”
“How I conduct myself is none of your concern.”
“It is when there are people suffering for it.  Tim included.  The truth is Batman needs a Robin, doesn’t he?  Since your parents died, you need – want company.  Otherwise you’ll go crazy, doing what you do all the time.  Anyone would.”
Way to play psychoanalyst with the most famous and powerful – not to mention richest – man in Gotham, girl.
Batman held her undeterred gaze.
“…You really do sound just like him.”
Grudgingly, he gruffly acknowledged the comparison – though it wasn’t quite a concession.
Still, Stephanie seized on the opening.
“Seriously, just what the hell happened?  You two used to be such a great team.  You guys were a legend, the ‘Dynamic Duo’ and all that.  Nightwing and Batgirl too, whatever happened to them?”
His answer was aggravatingly simple.
“Things change.”
Why do I get the feeling I’ve heard that somewhere before?
She exhaled in exasperation, sensing the discussion was going in circles. She wasn’t about to allow such curt tautology cut her off though.
“You used to mean something to people.  This,” she pointed purposefully at the symbol in the sky, before jabbing at the mirrored center of his chest, “…used to mean something.  Sure, you could be scary sometimes, but it was clear that you cared.  Now, it’s like all the lives you save don’t even matter anymore.  All that exists in your mind – or your heart, whatever’s left of it – that is, assuming you even still have one – is darkness and dread.  Am I wrong?”
Her assertive allegation was met with stony silence.  Tentatively, she tried to uplift the weight on the conversation somewhat.
“Not everything has to be about fear.  There’s room in our line of work for hope too, you know.”
Again, he merely remained mute, scrutiny slanting into the distance.
All right, fine.  Don’t answer me.
Growing annoyed by such obstinate reticence (which she recognized all too well at this point; it was no wonder where her boyfriend got it from) and desperate for some sort of reaction, she attempted to return again to the original topic – her whole goal for summoning this guy’s big broody butt in the first place.
“Look, I’m sure you’re as aware as I am this isn’t just about me trying to barge in on your territory – your private little crusade – is it?  I don’t mean to pry open old wounds just for the sake of sating my curiosity either.  Something obviously happened between you two – something that changed him – that changed the both of you – and I need to know what in order to get through to him.”  She placed a palm on her breast, clutching and curling fretful fingers against cloth as she bit her lip, baring honest emotion.  “I want to be able to understand what he’s going through, but every time I try to get him to talk about it, he won’t let me near.  Refuses to open up, shuts me out just like you’ve been doing all night.”
His vision panned back slowly, restoring rapt concentration.  Again, those slim slivers of snow were silent, searching – scant headlights scanning in the dark.  Stark and cold against coal, yet somewhere within seemed to spark a vestige of warmth; like stoking, coaxing the burnt out ashes of an old flame to stir and rise again.  To remember.
“Tim means a lot to you.”
“The whole world.  He’s a great guy.”
“Greater than he knows.”
“Please,” she begged, “Let me help him at least.  I’m worried about him.”
He regarded her unwavering expression, gauging sincerity.
“…You really care for him, don’t you?”
She nodded, thinking to herself that- despite his still-outwardly icy demeanor, there was indeed a thaw in his throat, a slight swell of sympathy slipping through the grave gravel.
He rotated with a sharp whisk of cape, heading for the edge of the roof.
“Come with me.”
She followed, taking cue to simultaneously fumble for her cheap grapple as he reached for his own (no doubt state-of-the-art) device.  Whilst descending down the decel line, Batman pressed a button on his utility belt, and a rumble hummed from down the road as a long, sleek, jet-black vehicle charged along the street, skidding to a stop right in front of them as they alighted on the sidewalk.  The hood automatically slid back upon recognizing its owner, inviting within the depths of its leather wings.
HolycraptheBatmobile.
She hesitated as he walked round to the driver’s side and climbed in, casting an expectant – impatient – glance at his guest.
“Well.  Hurry up and get in.”
“O- okay.”
Dear Diary, whatever you do, don’t tell my mom I agreed to get into a strange car in the middle of the night with a shady man wearing a mask.  Pretty sure she’d flip her shit.
She hopped in after, settling against the cozy cushions.  Leave it to a billionaire to be able to afford the best quality sitting material.  Admiring the impressive array of controls on the dashboard, she figured the machine in itself probably cost more than her whole house combined.
“Hang on,” he warned as they lurched forward, “And don’t touch anything.”
Stephanie hastily withdrew her itchy fingers from the nearest knob, sweating nervously.
“Can I ask what this does at least?”
“Passenger seat ejector.”
She shrank back sullenly, leaning slumped into the lavish upholstery.
Mock me at your peril, masked man.
As they sped past buildings and streetlamps, Steph inquired with a hunch as to their destination:
“So are we going to your hideout?”
“I prefer to think of it as a lair.”
She couldn’t tell whether that was supposed to be a joke or not.  Either way, she couldn’t help but feel a hint of giddy excitement at her current situation.  Not many people could proudly proclaim they got to ride in the freakin’ Batmobile once during their lives.
Cool.
Hope was a letter I never could send Love was a country we couldn't defend
And through the carnival we watch them go round and round All we knew of home was just a sunset and some clowns
Finishing replaying Dual Destinies and getting some amazing art from diloolie inspired me to finally make an Athena mix! I may have gotten...a bit carried away. Can u believe I was worried about not finding enough songs...ANYWAY. Even if you don’t know Ace Attorney, this makes for a great kick-butt mix to get you motivated (save for a couple subdued sad songs at the beginning).It’s a mix that pretty much screams “LET’S DO THIS!” as Athena would say.
Lyrics, annotations and translations under the cut!
Athena- PRETTY SELF EXPLANATORY. I was so pumped to discover this song at the last minute. I was actually alerted to it thanks to a sweet Athena amv that came up in my youtube suggestions- check it.
The moment is right/So don't wait/Get ready to fight/When I say/Break free of the chains/That hold you back/React. And plan your attack
Brace yourself and run into the battlefield/Move on/Don't falter/Plan your pursuit/And charge on and head on I will be your shield /Go on/Release the goddess inside you In every star/In every moon /In every vena/There lives Athena
They Know My Name- a song for Athena’s trauma and PTSD. It also fits for how she can get overwhelmed hearing everyone’s emotions.
Her panic attacks being highly visible- can also refer to how Widget tends to recite her thoughts:
All of my noise in the air/My thoughts can be seen from everywhere
Panic attacks, PTSD:
These wars that I fight from within/I don't know where they end and I begin I try/ I try to calm them down/But these thoughts they keep spinning/Round and round, round and round/These monsters are hiding within my brain/They roar and they shout and they know my name
Goodnight Little Robot Child- Young Athena, living in the space center among robots, unable to tell the difference between them and humans
Goodnight little robot child/Close your eyes go to sleep tight/ little robot child/Starmans waiting for/You've been running around with your robot friends/And your battery's feeling so low
Little Me- Athena looking back on her younger self. "I was a shaking and scared little girl, small and ineffectual.... Even after I went to live with my relatives in Europe, I stayed closed up in my shell. “
Voice so quiet you don't hear a word/Always talking but she can't be heard/You can see it there if you catch her eye/I know she's brave but it's trapped inside/Scared to talk but she don't know why
Wish I knew back then/What I know now/Wish I could somehow Go back in time and maybe listen to my own advice/I'd tell her to speak up, tell her to shout out/Talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder
Yellow Halo- Athena dealing with the death of her mother. I consider this to be from Metis’s POV in a way. This song is actually about dealing with the loss of a mother, so it fits really well.
Metis dying:
I rose to the moon, Wearing all white
Metis wears a “yellow halo” now, and those colors are  passed on to Athena Athena wears yellow, shining brightly and kindly:
Yellow halo/all your colors/yellow halo/for a queen/yellow halo/bequeathed
Metis lives on through Athena, who carries on her legacy, wearing the moon earring her mother made for her and bringing hope to everyone:
Seasons change/the moon’s still here/dawn breaks endlessly
Hope on Fire: Athena making her vow to be heard and to save Simon, no matter what the cost (yes i know i use this song a lot in mixes, IT’S A GREAT SONG OKAY) “That’s because one day, I came to realize that I had to fight. I couldn’t give up"
gotta fight gotta strike/'cause there's no turning away/from what you don't want to know/
ooh you're gonna make your mark this time/ooh you're gonna set your hope on fire/gotta leave gotta bleed/you've gotta stop lying still/'cause this is no kind of life
we're coming closer now to the truth
Akatsuki no Hana: "I couldn’t give up. I exercised hard and I studied hard. I wanted to become the strongest lawyer I could be.”
I’ll tear the doubt out of my mind/because with the strength inside me/I’ll leave the girl I was behind
Breaking through to the sky with the strength to survive/feel the dawn break through toy your heart/Chasing the skies, I’ll find a brighter day/Tear through the lies/I’m who I wanna be/you won’t take my courage away
Bravado: “What was Athena like as a child? ”She didn’t talk very much” “That’s completely different from the Athena we know now!” "I was so surprised! She was like a completely different person, so cheerful and happy!”
All my life, I've been fighting a war/I can't talk to you or your friends/It's not only you/My heart jumps around when I'm alluded to/This will not do
But when you're withdrawn, it's the closest thing to assault when all eyes are on you/This will not do/I'm faking glory/Lick my lips, toss my hair/And turn the smile on/And the story's brand new/But I can take it from here/I'll find my own bravado
Me Against the World- Athena refusing to give up on Simon even as he’s all obstinate and ready to change the courtroom
okay, with this line how could I resist:
Simon says to pack it up
Even the LA references work if you consider Japanifornia (though honestly I can never think of AA as actually taking place in LA...just a weird alternate Japan where everyone has english names. BUT I DIGRESS)
They said don't try to change the world/You're just a girl/So it's me against the world today/I'm gonna do it my own way/And though nobody understands/I'm gonna make a one girl stand
Give a Reason- full translation here.  Lyrics also in the playmoss vid. Very fitting for Athena, who charges ahead and looks for answers
There's an "answer" somewhere for sure /The answer for why we were born/.../I'm not afraid of getting hurt!/But I'm not strong in any way for feeling that /Simply, I just can’t do nothing/I don't wanna be regretting myself! /Here we go! go! I'll keep running /I won't be stopped by anybody!
Dakara: My Hero Academia and Athena go together so well.
 “I didn’t have anybody to support me at first, either. I couldn’t face the fear inside me, couldn’t get over the trauma of my past. “
“ It sure feels nice to be part of a great group like this! I just want to say I really love working here with all you fabulous people!”
How come I am the only one to always face a hurricane?/Back then I used to think it all so meaningless (was so alone)/But everything began to change
Again we’re crying but trying/To prove we can overcome it/I know that we’ll rise above it each and every time/(Everything will be fine!)/I’ll reach for your hand,Yeah, my friend,You are not alone this time
One Girl Revolution- The courtroom Revolutionaire! “Let’s revolutionize this stodgy institution!”
And I'll be everything that I want to be/I am confidence in insecurity/I am a voice yet waiting to be heard/I'll shoot the shot /Bang/That you hear round the world/And I'm a one girl revolution
See Me Now- “ Then that’s a win for me– No, a win for analytical psychology! “
That I've been hesitating so long, so long/Somebody turn out the light./Cause right now must be my time to shine/They said I couldn't, they told me that I wouldn't/But if they could see me now/They'd see I'm something, that I'm not scared of nothing/And the world will hear me shout
Odd Future
You love the contradiction shaking you/even when you fall take one step/you can breath again in one step/.../shaking off the rust in your soul/gotta rise from a dark history/.../but today I opened up my eyes and I feel alive
Everything at Once- In the DLC, Athena said she wanted to be strong enough to fight a whale, and suddenly I realized this was perfect for her. She dreams big and wants to be everything and I love her.
As pretty as a picture hanging from a fixture/Strong like a family, strong as I wanna be/Bright as day, as light as play/As hard as nails, as grand as a whale/All I wanna be, all I wanna be, oh/All I wanna be is everything
The Prayer- “Why do you turn everything into a competition?” Athena’s go getter competitiveness is everything.
Let me outshine the moon/Is it so wrong to crave recognition?/Second best, runner-up/Is it so wrong to want rewarding?/To want more than is given to you?
Tonight make me unstoppable/And I will charm, I will slice/I will dazzle them with my wit
Peace sign- “She flashed a peace sign at me. “Congratulations on your acquittal,” she said. [...]But I saw her eyes. They were red and swollen from crying. She’s gotta be suffering! She must be so worried! And yet she went out of her way to be nice and give me that big smile!”
Although your eyes are red, you’ll never cry again/ no I’ll be the smile that you need and I won’t go/Theme to be a hero, just remember to sing/Say goodbye and I’ll leave with a peace sign
Voice of the heart- “Let me hear the voice of you heart!”
If you listen long enough/If you dream it strong enough/A door inside will open/And a light will flood the dark/Like a song too long unsung/Or a soul forever young/We all will find an answer/In the voice of the heart
I’m a Believer- Athena charging ahead with people cheering her on "It’s not over yet, Thena. Even now at this very moment, I still believe in you! I know you better than most people, Thena. And I know you’d never surrender to the dark age of the law ”
It’s not easy to keep going – motivation’s running thin/I know my dream’s unrealistic … No, I don’t need reminding/In these moments, under pressure, when you feel it closing in/You’re the one - be the one to believe in
I keep searching for an answer/But I can’t keep it together Does anybody know what path I should take?/I won’t hesitate/Because this dream that I’ll create, it cannot be misguided/By simple regret, and thoughts of “what if”/So, I’ll take my next step, but if you were to cheer me on,I’d soar beyond that boundary
Young Volcanoes- “Well, nobody's going to try harder than me! So you'd better watch out, Apollo! Simon is free, thanks to Mr. Wright... ...but there are so many more people out there who need our help!”
Tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds/It's all over now/Before it has begun/We've already won/We are wild/We are like young volcanoes
Sora ni- Look, Athena and MHA just really go well together. I was always telling you guys sh’s part shonen hero part magical girl.
“Well, I knew that if I didn’t get your sentence overturned fast, you’d be executed! So I studied and studied. I was frantic! I’m so glad I made it in time! ………… Just barely… but I still made it! “
Every time you cry/Make it so It only makes you stronger/Cut straight through the illusion/And soar from the confusion/To a Blue-Sky Revolution/Can't forsake the future when it's this bright/So give the fight/All your might
Sunadokei: translation here. “Thatta girl, Athena. It’s good to see you finally let your tears out. “
I just continue on living /Questioning its meaning... /A correct answer just doesn't exist /So I just raise my head and keep walking
Resignation without restraint, memories/If you regret it and cry, that is fine /But even so, the tomorrow that is created will /Overflow with merciless love/.../Turn those broken tears into strength
Courtroom revolutionaire- obviously.
